- 0:14Speaker 1: We pray to the Lord. I am Michael Jackson. Welcome
- 0:16Speaker 1: to The Bible Speaks Live. This is our Hot Topic Tuesday.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Glad you could join us. You've joined us on a
- 0:21Speaker 1: good night because tonight we are going to be discussing
- 0:24Speaker 1: a very much debated topic in the world of Christianity
- 0:30Speaker 1: that has been spoken about, argued about, discussed for hundreds
- 0:35Speaker 1: of years.
- 0:36Speaker 2: And that is, can a Christian lose their salvation? Amen.
- 0:41Speaker 1: The once saved, always saved. Or once saved and not
- 0:45Speaker 1: saved anymore. We're going to be talking about that for
- 0:47Speaker 1: the next few weeks. And we pray that you will
- 0:49Speaker 1: step in, join us. Your comments and questions are welcome.
- 0:54Speaker 1: And we're going to lay out both sides. We're going
- 0:56Speaker 1: to lay out both sides evenly, we believe, so we
- 0:59Speaker 1: can see what the Bible says on each one. Because
- 1:05Speaker 1: as I've said, and I'll say it again, even before
- 1:07Speaker 1: we get started, there is enough evidence on both ends,
- 1:14Speaker 1: on both sides of the spectrum to prove their case adequately.
- 1:18Speaker 1: That's what I believe as I read scripture. But only
- 1:23Speaker 1: one is right. And we're going to go into scripture.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Amen. So glad you could join us. Stay with us.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Don't get angry. Don't get upset.
- 1:36Speaker 1: This is a question that has split brothers and sisters
- 1:39Speaker 1: in Christ. This is a question that has started brand
- 1:45Speaker 1: new denominations and brand new sub-denominations. This whole question of
- 1:51Speaker 1: whether or not a Christian can lose faith their salvation.
- 1:54Speaker 1: We're not trying to lose any brothers or sisters here.
- 2:00Speaker 1: We just want to lay out what the Bible says.
- 2:03Speaker 1: There are two sides and there is even some sort
- 2:06Speaker 1: of a middle ground. We'll get to all of that.
- 2:08Speaker 1: But once again, glad you could join us. Glad you
- 2:11Speaker 1: could be here. We pray that your time spent here
- 2:14Speaker 1: in God's word will be fruitful.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Amen.
- 2:19Speaker 1: We are streaming now live over Facebook times two and
- 2:22Speaker 1: on YouTube, our YouTube channel is That's The Word Ministries.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Our Facebook ministry page is also That's The Word Ministries.
- 2:29Speaker 1: You can find these webcasts on Spreaker.com. We're not live there,
- 2:35Speaker 1: but you will be able to find them on Spreaker.com
- 2:38Speaker 1: in just a little while after these webcasts have completed, amen?
- 2:44Speaker 1: So once again, thank you so much for being a
- 2:46Speaker 1: part of this study. We know that it's going to
- 2:51Speaker 1: be insightful to say the least.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Amen. God bless you. Kathleen Garvin in West Virginia. Hey,
- 2:59Speaker 2: West Virginia in the house. Amen. So thank you so much. Amen.
- 3:03Speaker 2: God is good. We are going to pray and we're
- 3:05Speaker 2: going to get right into it because there's a.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Lot to get into and it's just a lot.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Amen. We bless you and we thank you, Lord.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Once again, you've allowed us to be here in your
- 3:15Speaker 1: presence and Lord, we're going to discuss some things tonight
- 3:18Speaker 1: that have been discussed.
- 3:20Speaker 2: For years and years, for hundreds of years actually, Lord.
- 3:24Speaker 1: And we are not going to stem the tide.
- 3:29Speaker 2: We are just laying the information out there.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Lord, we know that everyone has their own, what they believe.
- 3:37Speaker 1: And we're not trying to change anyone's mind. We're not
- 3:40Speaker 1: trying to move anyone from one side to another. We
- 3:44Speaker 1: just want to lay the facts out. So Lord, we
- 3:46Speaker 1: just bless you. We pray that you would help us
- 3:49Speaker 1: as we do this. Lord, we pray that we don't
- 3:51Speaker 1: say anything that would be considered violence to your word,
- 3:55Speaker 1: but we just want you to have your way. Draw
- 3:56Speaker 1: those who need to hear these words at this time
- 3:58Speaker 1: to this place on the World Wide Web. Lord, have
- 4:02Speaker 1: your way. We bless you. We honor you. We thank
- 4:03Speaker 1: you in Jesus' name. Amen and amen.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Hallelujah.
- 4:08Speaker 1: All righty then. We are going to get started. I'm
- 4:10Speaker 1: going to open up with a scripture verse. I was
- 4:13Speaker 1: just before we came on. This particular scripture came to
- 4:18Speaker 1: my heart, came to my mind And it's from Psalm 115.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Psalm 115 and verse number 3. And this, I will
- 4:29Speaker 1: use this as a foundation. Because when it all comes
- 4:33Speaker 1: down to it, when it all comes down to it,
- 4:36Speaker 1: this is what it's all about. But our God is
- 4:40Speaker 1: in the heavens. He hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.
- 4:47Speaker 2: I'll read it again.
- 4:48Speaker 1: But our God is in the heavens. He had done
- 4:51Speaker 1: whatsoever he had pleased. What does that say? That simply
- 4:57Speaker 1: says there that God is sovereign.
- 5:00Speaker 2: He is over all. He sees all. He knows all.
- 5:04Speaker 2: He understands all. We don't.
- 5:07Speaker 1: We cannot even attempt to think that we know all
- 5:13Speaker 1: or know even a smidgen.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Even a micro dot of what the Lord knows. We
- 5:20Speaker 2: know nothing.
- 5:21Speaker 1: He is God and he hath done what he pleases.
- 5:28Speaker 1: He's sovereign and he's, to put it in plain English,
- 5:32Speaker 1: he's God and he has done whatever he wanted to
- 5:34Speaker 1: do and he will do whatever he wanted to do. Okay,
- 5:38Speaker 1: he's God. And we cannot, even though many have, and
- 5:42Speaker 1: I'm sure you have, maybe I have, We have questioned
- 5:45Speaker 1: God from time to time. Why this and why that? Lord,
- 5:48Speaker 1: what's the reason for this and what's the reason for that?
- 5:50Speaker 1: He is not bound to tell us. There is nothing
- 5:54Speaker 1: in scripture that says he must answer all of our questions.
- 6:01Speaker 2: But he promises to be with us at all times.
- 6:03Speaker 2: That is what we do know. Amen?
- 6:07Speaker 1: So once again, tonight, thank you all for those who
- 6:10Speaker 1: are joining in at this time. Thank you for for
- 6:15Speaker 1: being here, Kathleen and Dana. And Salvatore, thank you also.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Thank you for being here.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Amen. So let's begin.
- 6:26Speaker 1: And once again, this is a hotly debated, this is
- 6:31Speaker 1: a hotly debated subject. You may not know much about
- 6:35Speaker 1: these two, the two What we're going to talk about,
- 6:39Speaker 1: let me put it that way. You may not know
- 6:40Speaker 1: much about it, or maybe you do. I'm coming into
- 6:44Speaker 1: this believing that many don't understand much about it. And
- 6:50Speaker 1: I could be wrong, so that's fine. But we're talking
- 6:53Speaker 1: about today, in the next several weeks, just how saved
- 6:58Speaker 1: are we? Just how saved are we? Is our salvation fragile?
- 7:07Speaker 1: Can we lose it?
- 7:08Speaker 2: Just like that?
- 7:10Speaker 1: Or is our salvation secure and nothing can break it
- 7:15Speaker 1: and nothing can.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Come between ourselves and the Lord? Which is it?
- 7:23Speaker 1: How saved are we? And eternal security, conditional or unconditional?
- 7:29Speaker 1: And we'll get into the meaning of those statements as
- 7:32Speaker 1: we move along. But let me just say that when
- 7:35Speaker 1: it comes to, uh, whether or not a Christian can
- 7:39Speaker 1: lose his salvation, we.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Need to dig a little bit deeper. So there's going
- 7:43Speaker 2: to be some doctrine here tonight.
- 7:45Speaker 1: I don't know how many of you have a taste
- 7:48Speaker 1: for doctrine, but doctrine is good.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Doctrine is necessary for the child of God.
- 7:55Speaker 1: The Bible says that we all should be, from Jude 3,
- 7:58Speaker 1: that we are to be contenders for the faith. That
- 8:02Speaker 1: means to struggle and make sure that the truth of
- 8:06Speaker 1: the word of God remains the truth of the word
- 8:08Speaker 1: of God.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Amen? We are to be defenders and contenders of the faith. Okay?
- 8:16Speaker 1: Now, there are two sides to this coin of whether
- 8:19Speaker 1: or not a Christian can lose their salvation. Just let
- 8:22Speaker 1: me say here once again that the phrase lose salvation,
- 8:29Speaker 1: I believe.
- 8:29Speaker 2: It's a misnomer, okay?
- 8:32Speaker 1: Because if salvation can be lost, it's not lost. We
- 8:37Speaker 1: understand what lose means. Salvation cannot be lost. If salvation
- 8:43Speaker 1: can be, if that's the case, No, no. Salvation can be,
- 8:49Speaker 1: what's a better word? It can be abandoned. Abandoned. Or
- 8:57Speaker 1: you may say salvation can be taken away. God takes
- 9:01Speaker 1: away your salvation or you abandon it.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Okay?
- 9:06Speaker 1: But to lose it, You know, lose is a word that,
- 9:09Speaker 1: and we're going to keep using it. We're going to
- 9:11Speaker 1: keep using that word. But to lose something means that
- 9:14Speaker 1: you didn't realize it. You didn't know it. Where is it?
- 9:17Speaker 1: I can't find it. That's not the idea behind losing
- 9:21Speaker 1: your salvation. Salvation, if it can be lost, it is abandoned.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Someone ups and leaves, or however the case may be, okay?
- 9:34Speaker 2: All righty. Now, there are two sides to this.
- 9:38Speaker 1: When we talk about losing your salvation, and there are
- 9:41Speaker 1: two sides, and it's called the Arminianism and Calvinism.
- 9:48Speaker 2: We're not going to get deep into the history of it,
- 9:50Speaker 2: but these are two men.
- 9:52Speaker 1: These are two men back in the 17th century, basically
- 9:55Speaker 1: the 16th century, and they had opposing views. The These
- 10:00Speaker 1: were theologians on two different sides of the spectrum.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Arminianism from a man named Jacob Arminius.
- 10:11Speaker 1: He came out with a group of statements that are
- 10:16Speaker 1: summarized in these five points.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Following that, John Calvin, he.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Responded to what Jacob Arminius had come up with, and
- 10:30Speaker 1: he came across with his five points, which are basically
- 10:35Speaker 1: the very opposite of one another, pretty much.
- 10:38Speaker 2: All right? So let's look at these five points. Arminianism.
- 10:43Speaker 2: They believe that we're going to explain each one.
- 10:45Speaker 1: I'm just going to I listed them here, but we're
- 10:48Speaker 1: going to go into each one in a little bit
- 10:50Speaker 1: of detail.
- 10:51Speaker 2: The five points of Arminianism is number one, free will.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Free will.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Number two, it's conditional election. Conditional election. Number three is
- 11:05Speaker 1: universal atonement. Remember, we're going to discuss what all of
- 11:10Speaker 1: these mean. Then you have number four, resistible grace. Resistible grace.
- 11:16Speaker 1: And finally, the perseverance of the saints. And that, number five,
- 11:21Speaker 1: is once saved, always saved. Can a Christian lose their salvation? Okay,
- 11:27Speaker 1: that number five is the question that we have been asking. Now,
- 11:33Speaker 1: Calvinism also has five points. Commonly known as TULIP. You
- 11:37Speaker 1: will see the first letter of each word is T-U-L-I-P.
- 11:41Speaker 2: TULIP.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Number one, Calvinism believes in total depravity. Number two, Calvinism
- 11:50Speaker 1: believes in unconditional election. Number three, they believe in limited atonement.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Number four is irresistible grace. And number five is the
- 12:03Speaker 1: perseverance of all saints. Now, I spoke wrong over here
- 12:08Speaker 1: on Arminianism. It's the perseverance of some saints. For Arminianism.
- 12:14Speaker 1: For Calvinism, it's the perseverance of all saints.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Amen? All believers.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Now, there is a such thing. There is a such thing.
- 12:27Speaker 1: And years and years and years ago, I have to
- 12:29Speaker 1: say it like that because I'm getting up there. Years
- 12:31Speaker 1: and years ago, I thought I had coined a phrase.
- 12:36Speaker 1: But I didn't coin the phrase, obviously. The phrase had
- 12:39Speaker 1: been out for umpteen years. And that phrase is Kalminian. Kalminian.
- 12:47Speaker 1: And a Kalminian is a person who doesn't believe all
- 12:53Speaker 1: five of the, who doesn't believe in all five of
- 12:58Speaker 1: the points of Arminianism.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Neither do they believe in all five points of Calvinism.
- 13:03Speaker 2: There is a mixture. They believe two of.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Arminianism and maybe three of Calvinism or maybe three of Arminianism.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Okay?
- 13:12Speaker 1: It's called Cal-minion, Cal-minionism, okay? And that's something, that is
- 13:18Speaker 1: a thing. That is a thing, okay? So I'll leave
- 13:21Speaker 1: that out there. You know, it's possible, it's possible that
- 13:24Speaker 1: you don't even know that you may be a Cal-minion.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Maybe you are, maybe you're not, okay? Let's talk about it,
- 13:33Speaker 2: all right?
- 13:34Speaker 1: First of all, ultimately, ultimately, and this is what we
- 13:39Speaker 1: were saying at the outset, Ultimately, whoops, what did I
- 13:43Speaker 1: just do?
- 13:44Speaker 2: Okay, ultimately, I'm coming back. All right.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Ultimately, both Arminianism and Calvinism are human attempts, both sides.
- 13:59Speaker 1: They are human attempts. I read this and I had
- 14:01Speaker 1: to include it because I think this is so on point.
- 14:06Speaker 1: They are human attempts to explain the unexplainable.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Okay?
- 14:12Speaker 1: God is absolutely sovereign in his election of who will
- 14:16Speaker 1: be saved.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Okay? God knows.
- 14:19Speaker 1: It cannot be refuted that God knows who is going
- 14:23Speaker 1: to be saved. God knows whether you are an Arminian
- 14:27Speaker 1: or whether you are a Calvinist.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Okay?
- 14:32Speaker 1: And don't let those two names or titles, don't let
- 14:38Speaker 1: them shape you. Don't let those those two titles, don't
- 14:43Speaker 1: let them shape you, okay? Don't allow them to do that, okay?
- 14:48Speaker 1: But God is absolutely sovereign and he knows who is
- 14:50Speaker 1: going to be saved, okay? At the same time, humanity, people,
- 14:57Speaker 1: they are completely responsible for receiving the gift of salvation
- 15:01Speaker 1: that God offers. Everybody is responsible to be saved. God,
- 15:07Speaker 1: scripture says, that he desires that all men be saved.
- 15:11Speaker 1: He does not desire, this is in 2 Peter, he
- 15:14Speaker 1: does not desire that anyone should perish, but that all
- 15:17Speaker 1: should come to repentance.
- 15:19Speaker 2: This is his desire.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Now, how these two truths harmonize is incomprehensible to the
- 15:30Speaker 1: finite human mind. We don't understand how God can know
- 15:35Speaker 1: ahead of time What's going to be what concerning salvation?
- 15:38Speaker 2: Who's going to be saved and who's not?
- 15:40Speaker 1: And then the responsibility of each one to be saved.
- 15:44Speaker 2: It's like, what? What are you saying? What is it?
- 15:47Speaker 2: To us, it's incomprehensible.
- 15:51Speaker 1: But in God's infinite mind, the two truths do not contradict.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Okay?
- 15:59Speaker 1: This is why I read that verse from Psalm 115
- 16:05Speaker 1: and verse number three.
- 16:06Speaker 2: God is in the heavens and he has done what
- 16:09Speaker 2: he pleases. All right. Now let's take a look. Let's
- 16:13Speaker 2: take a look at the five points of Arminianism. Okay.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Now, when it comes to Arminianism, we're talking about, we're
- 16:23Speaker 1: talking about, listen, if you go by denominations, if you
- 16:27Speaker 1: go by denominations, I don't know.
- 16:29Speaker 2: I don't know if you can go by denominations.
- 16:32Speaker 1: People that are people that are those who are Pentecostal
- 16:38Speaker 1: and those who are charismatic and maybe some Baptists, maybe
- 16:43Speaker 1: some Baptists and others, they would fall into the category
- 16:48Speaker 1: of being Arminian. Those who are Calvinists would be those
- 16:53Speaker 1: who are some Baptists or that are Calvinists, Presbyterians, some Methodists, Lutherans,
- 17:03Speaker 1: they would be considered those who are Calvinists.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Now, once again, we are all believers.
- 17:12Speaker 1: No one should look at the other side and say,
- 17:15Speaker 1: you're not saved because you believe that. No one who
- 17:19Speaker 1: believes that you can lose your salvation should look at
- 17:22Speaker 1: someone who believes.
- 17:23Speaker 2: That you cannot and say, you're not a Christian.
- 17:26Speaker 1: No one who says that you cannot lose your salvation
- 17:29Speaker 1: should not look at someone who believes that you and
- 17:33Speaker 1: lose your salvation and say that you are not a
- 17:36Speaker 1: believer because of that.
- 17:37Speaker 2: No.
- 17:40Speaker 1: No.
- 17:41Speaker 2: These are.
- 17:44Speaker 1: As forceful as this, as much as a hot topic
- 17:47Speaker 1: as this is, this is not essential in the fact
- 17:52Speaker 1: that either side, whatever you believe, you can be a Christian. Now,
- 17:57Speaker 1: I know some will have a problem with that because
- 17:59Speaker 1: some will say that those who believe that you cannot
- 18:04Speaker 1: lose your salvation, that you cannot lose your salvation, that
- 18:08Speaker 1: means that those people just get saved and then they
- 18:10Speaker 1: can think they can do whatever they want to do,
- 18:12Speaker 1: live how they want to live and be sinful.
- 18:14Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 18:15Speaker 1: If that's the case, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 18:19Speaker 1: If you are indwelt by the spirit of God, you're
- 18:22Speaker 1: not going to just go and live any way you
- 18:24Speaker 1: want to live.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Okay? That is proof. Whether anyone wants to believe it
- 18:28Speaker 2: or not, that is proof. Guess what?
- 18:30Speaker 1: You're not really saved. If you think I got saved now,
- 18:34Speaker 1: I'm in. I washed my hands, I'm good now. I'm
- 18:37Speaker 1: going to heaven because you can't lose your salvation. No,
- 18:39Speaker 1: you're a liar and you're not saved.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Okay? That's blunt, but that's what it is. That's what
- 18:47Speaker 2: it is. Now, the five points of Arminianism. Free will.
- 18:56Speaker 2: When we talk about.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Free will, We are talking about human ability. Human ability.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Is it true that you and I have free will?
- 19:16Speaker 1: That we can do whatever we want to do?
- 19:20Speaker 2: Okay?
- 19:21Speaker 1: The five points of Arminianism and the five points of
- 19:24Speaker 1: Calvinism disagree on this question.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Disagree. As it pertains to salvation.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Arminianism teaches that although the fall genesis chapter number three
- 19:37Speaker 1: affects humanity it affected everyone god grants listen to this
- 19:44Speaker 1: god grants what we call prevenient grace and this is
- 19:49Speaker 1: that's it's one again, we're getting into doctrine here. This
- 19:52Speaker 1: is grace that is given before a person responds to Christ.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Okay?
- 20:00Speaker 1: The Bible says that we are all dead, dead, dead
- 20:05Speaker 1: in trespasses and sins. The Calvinist will tell you, if
- 20:09Speaker 1: we are dead, we are dead. And you can't make
- 20:12Speaker 1: yourself alive.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Okay?
- 20:16Speaker 1: The Arminian says, yes, we are dead. We are dead, dead, dead.
- 20:21Speaker 1: But God has provided grace. God has provided grace that
- 20:28Speaker 1: enables everyone to respond freely to the gospel.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Humans may accept or reject.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Salvation, because you have a free will. Adam and Eve
- 20:43Speaker 1: in the garden, God said, don't do that. And they
- 20:47Speaker 1: chose to do that. That would seem like that's free will.
- 20:55Speaker 1: God did not force them to do what they did.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Eve very clearly decided. She thought, here is a tree
- 21:02Speaker 1: that's good for food. Here is a tree that will
- 21:04Speaker 1: make me wise. And she chose on her own to
- 21:10Speaker 1: disobey God after God made it very clear.
- 21:16Speaker 2: What they both should not do.
- 21:18Speaker 1: So free will, this is the stance of the Arminian.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Number two, number two, unlimited, unlimited universal atonement, okay? This
- 21:38Speaker 1: simply means that Christ died for all people without exception.
- 21:46Speaker 1: For God so loved the world, the world, that he
- 21:51Speaker 1: gave his only begotten son, that whosoever, whosoever, anybody, whosoever
- 21:59Speaker 1: believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
- 22:05Speaker 1: That seems to be clear. To the Arminian, salvation is
- 22:10Speaker 1: available to everyone, though only believers benefit from Christ's atonement.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Okay?
- 22:20Speaker 1: The Bible says, I was just reading it the other day,
- 22:23Speaker 1: that he is the savior of all men. He is
- 22:27Speaker 1: the savior of all men, especially those who are of
- 22:34Speaker 1: the household of faith.
- 22:37Speaker 2: So he's the savior of all men.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Now that doesn't mean, now you have those who are
- 22:42Speaker 1: universalists who believe that in the end, everybody's going to
- 22:45Speaker 1: be saved anyway. So it doesn't matter what you do.
- 22:47Speaker 1: We know that's ridiculous. But they would say to that verse, well,
- 22:53Speaker 1: he's the savior of all men.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Hey, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if you are
- 22:58Speaker 2: a Buddhist.
- 22:59Speaker 1: It doesn't matter if you are a Muslim. It doesn't
- 23:01Speaker 1: matter what you are. In the end, you're going to
- 23:04Speaker 1: be saved and you're going to heaven. but there are
- 23:09Speaker 1: those who believe it. There are those who believe it.
- 23:13Speaker 2: All righty? So universal, unlimited atonement. Anybody, anybody can be saved.
- 23:22Speaker 2: God bless you, Sharon. Thank you for joining.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Number three, we're talking about the five points of Arminianism. Conditional,
- 23:32Speaker 1: conditional election.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Conditional election.
- 23:39Speaker 1: This means that God's election, I know that word election
- 23:43Speaker 1: is a dirty word for many, that God chooses some
- 23:47Speaker 1: and doesn't choose others. Folks don't like to hear that
- 23:53Speaker 1: word election or God chose him and didn't choose. But
- 23:58Speaker 1: once again, God's election is based on his foreknowledge of
- 24:04Speaker 1: who will freely respond to faith. This is what we
- 24:06Speaker 1: were saying earlier. God knows the end from the beginning.
- 24:10Speaker 1: God knows that who is going to be saved. Way
- 24:15Speaker 1: back in the Garden of Eden, God knew that one
- 24:18Speaker 1: day in 1974 that Michael Jakes was going to get saved.
- 24:25Speaker 2: He knew. Then he knew. How did he know? Because
- 24:29Speaker 2: he's God. He's omniscient. He knows everything.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Everything in the past, everything in the present, and everything
- 24:36Speaker 1: in the future before it even happens, he knows it's
- 24:39Speaker 1: going to happen. He's not going to make it happen.
- 24:41Speaker 1: He's not going to cause it to happen. He knows
- 24:43Speaker 1: that it's going to happen.
- 24:45Speaker 2: He's God. Well, then that expands our mind. That's like, boom, what?
- 24:52Speaker 2: That's God. Okay?
- 24:54Speaker 1: He is incomprehensible, but he is God. Election is therefore
- 24:59Speaker 1: conditional election. on human response rather than an unconditional divine decree.
- 25:06Speaker 1: In other words, God says, you are going to get saved.
- 25:13Speaker 1: And you can't do anything about it. You're going to
- 25:15Speaker 1: be saved and that's it.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Yes, but no. Yeah. God knew ahead of time. Okay?
- 25:24Speaker 1: God knew ahead of time. He knows ahead of time
- 25:28Speaker 1: who is going to be saved. And....
- 25:32Speaker 2: He knows ahead of time.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Now, this is once again, this is where we have
- 25:37Speaker 1: to say, Lord, what is going on?
- 25:39Speaker 2: He knows ahead of time who is not going to
- 25:42Speaker 2: get saved.
- 25:45Speaker 1: And the fact is that not everyone is going to
- 25:48Speaker 1: get saved, meaning not everyone is going to heaven. There
- 25:53Speaker 1: are people that are going to leave this earth and
- 25:56Speaker 1: they are going to go to hell. I mean, that's
- 25:59Speaker 1: so blunt, but it's the truth. Everyone is not going
- 26:03Speaker 1: to get saved. But once again, it is God's desire
- 26:08Speaker 1: that all men be saved. Now, let me jump over
- 26:10Speaker 1: to the Calvinist side. The Calvinist says, if God says
- 26:14Speaker 1: that he wants all to be saved and he is
- 26:17Speaker 1: God and he is sovereign, then why doesn't he just
- 26:20Speaker 1: cause all men to be saved?
- 26:22Speaker 2: He's God.
- 26:23Speaker 1: And so to get around that, those that God wants
- 26:26Speaker 1: to be saved are going to be saved. And those
- 26:28Speaker 1: that are not supposed to be saved will never get saved,
- 26:31Speaker 1: even if they were to cry out to God. They
- 26:33Speaker 1: can't because God said already, no. That sounds crazy, but
- 26:37Speaker 1: that's what it comes down to. These different sides, what
- 26:41Speaker 1: they believe. Point number four. Point number four. Resistible grace.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Let me just say, if you have any questions, if
- 26:55Speaker 1: something that I'm saying does not sound right or maybe
- 26:57Speaker 1: you're not getting something, please feel free to Put questions
- 27:01Speaker 1: in the chat. I'm looking right at the chat and
- 27:03Speaker 1: feel free.
- 27:04Speaker 2: To do that.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Resistible grace. Resistible grace. Once again, this is talking about
- 27:11Speaker 1: the freedom of choice. God's grace, we said earlier, enables salvation.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Okay? He has made salvation available by grace.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Remember, Ephesians chapter 2, verses 8 and 9.
- 27:25Speaker 2: For by grace are ye saved.
- 27:28Speaker 1: For by grace, because of grace, you are saved through faith.
- 27:34Speaker 1: And that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God,
- 27:38Speaker 1: not of works, lest any man should boast.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Okay?
- 27:43Speaker 1: God's grace enables salvation, but people can resist it.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Have you ever said no to the Lord?
- 27:53Speaker 1: Have you ever disobeyed the Lord when he clearly told
- 27:57Speaker 1: you not to do something, not to say something, not
- 28:00Speaker 1: to go to a certain place? Have you ever said,
- 28:04Speaker 1: I'm doing it anyway? Well, you resisted. You resisted the
- 28:08Speaker 1: spirit of God. I'm talking about since you've been a Christian.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Since you have been a Christian, have you resisted the
- 28:16Speaker 1: spirit of God? I mean, done something diametrically opposed to
- 28:21Speaker 1: what you know, he said.
- 28:23Speaker 2: He said, don't.
- 28:25Speaker 1: And just like Eve and Adam, you went ahead and
- 28:29Speaker 1: did what you knew God said don't do.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Of course, we've all been there.
- 28:34Speaker 1: So the Arminian believes that grace can be resisted, okay?
- 28:41Speaker 1: Individuals can, when it comes to salvation, individuals can refuse
- 28:46Speaker 1: God's call. I know that I sensed the presence of
- 28:51Speaker 1: God in my life, at least a year. When I
- 28:56Speaker 1: say in my life, I was not saved, but I could,
- 28:59Speaker 1: the Lord was pulling, pulling, convicting me before I ever
- 29:05Speaker 1: got saved.
- 29:06Speaker 2: And it, like I said, at least a year.
- 29:09Speaker 1: So I was, what I was doing, every Sunday I
- 29:11Speaker 1: went to church, I was refusing God's call. Lift up
- 29:18Speaker 1: your hand, a preacher at the end, an altar call,
- 29:21Speaker 1: lift up your hand, you bow your head and act
- 29:27Speaker 1: like everything's all right.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Sometimes I would get up and walk to the back
- 29:30Speaker 2: because I would not give in. I would not surrender.
- 29:37Speaker 2: I was refusing God. grace. So, resistible grace. That is
- 29:44Speaker 2: what Arminians believe. All righty?
- 29:50Speaker 1: Difference between backsliding and resisting or walking away. Resisting is
- 29:58Speaker 1: when the Lord is speaking and you just entirely, you
- 30:03Speaker 1: fight it. You fight it.
- 30:06Speaker 2: A word that we used to use, a phrase we
- 30:07Speaker 2: used to use back in the day, we play it off. No, no.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Resistance is rebellion, okay? Walking away is more blatant. You
- 30:18Speaker 1: just turn around and say, no, I don't want to,
- 30:20Speaker 1: and you just walk away. It is part of resisting. Now, backsliding,
- 30:25Speaker 1: there are different views on backsliding. Some folk believe that
- 30:28Speaker 1: backsliding means that you gave up the faith and you
- 30:32Speaker 1: are not a Christian anymore.
- 30:33Speaker 2: You backslid. You went back into the world. You backslid.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Well, backsliding, backsliding a Christian, a believer who is indwelled
- 30:45Speaker 1: by the Spirit, a dyed-in-the-wool Christian can backslide, can backslide.
- 30:53Speaker 1: When you backslide, you... The prayer stops. The praise stops.
- 30:59Speaker 1: The devotion stops. You may have and I may have
- 31:04Speaker 1: backslidden several times since I've been a Christian. Where the
- 31:11Speaker 1: Christian disciplines just, they fade off.
- 31:18Speaker 2: And you're not praising God. You're going through the motions. Okay? Okay?
- 31:23Speaker 1: You're backslidden in your heart. The Bible says that the
- 31:26Speaker 1: backslider is filled with his own ways. Okay, God is
- 31:31Speaker 1: not preeminent anymore. The things of God are not prioritized anymore.
- 31:36Speaker 1: It's all about you. It's all about you. There's a
- 31:40Speaker 1: selfishness applied to those who are backsliding. A backslider shall
- 31:45Speaker 1: be filled with his own ways. So you can be saved.
- 31:52Speaker 2: And be a backslider.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Just because the word backslider, and once again, the word
- 31:55Speaker 1: backslider is not found in the New Testament at all.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Backslide is a word that's found in the Old Testament
- 32:02Speaker 1: several times. It's applied to the Israelites, to the Jews.
- 32:06Speaker 1: We don't find the word backslide in the New Testament.
- 32:10Speaker 1: But we see that when they backslid, they were still
- 32:14Speaker 1: his people. The children of Israel were still his people.
- 32:20Speaker 2: He cried out.
- 32:21Speaker 1: The prophets cried out. Oh, backslidden children. They were still
- 32:25Speaker 1: his people, but they were backslidden. They were serving false gods.
- 32:29Speaker 1: They were doing ridiculous things, but he still considered them
- 32:32Speaker 1: his people. Now, this is not a license to sin.
- 32:37Speaker 1: This is not a license to sin. Well, I'm still
- 32:39Speaker 1: a Christian because I can still do what I want
- 32:40Speaker 1: to do and I'm backslidden.
- 32:42Speaker 2: No, no, relax. No, no, no.
- 32:45Speaker 1: We never have license to sin. So I think, I
- 32:48Speaker 1: hope that answers your question. That's That would be the
- 32:51Speaker 1: difference of those three.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Okay, number five.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Number five, we're talking about the five points of Arminianism.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Number five, we've gotten to number five. And that is
- 33:07Speaker 1: the possibility of falling from grace. And that, my friends,
- 33:16Speaker 1: is the fact that Arminians believe that you can lose,
- 33:21Speaker 1: and that's the phrase lose. I'm going to stay with
- 33:26Speaker 1: using that word, but that's the word we know and understand.
- 33:29Speaker 1: The possibility of falling from grace or losing your salvation.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Now, falling from grace is what we find.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Let me go there because where we get that phrase
- 33:47Speaker 1: from is from the book of Galatians. It's from the
- 33:52Speaker 1: book of Galatians and it's from chapter number two and
- 33:56Speaker 1: it's from verse number 21. And the term, the term
- 34:00Speaker 1: falling from grace should be applied to those who go
- 34:05Speaker 1: back into law. It is not talking about, it is
- 34:09Speaker 1: not talking about someone necessarily who has lost or abandoned
- 34:15Speaker 1: their salvation. I do not, I'm in Galatians chapter two,
- 34:19Speaker 1: verse 21. I do not frustrate And that word frustrate
- 34:23Speaker 1: is set aside, okay? I do not set aside the
- 34:29Speaker 1: grace of God. For if righteousness come by the law,
- 34:34Speaker 1: then Christ is dead in vain. From that verse, there's
- 34:41Speaker 1: another scripture that I'm not able to find right now
- 34:44Speaker 1: that speaks about.
- 34:45Speaker 2: Falling away from grace. You have fallen from grace.
- 34:49Speaker 1: And when Paul uses it, he's talking about the fact
- 34:51Speaker 1: You've fallen from grace when you go back into the law.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Because you can't serve law and serve grace at the
- 34:58Speaker 1: same time. And the Jews were opting to go back
- 35:02Speaker 1: into the law, to the feast and to the different
- 35:05Speaker 1: laws that were in the old covenant. They were going
- 35:09Speaker 1: back to it. The Judaizers were telling them, you need
- 35:13Speaker 1: to do this to be a better Christian. You need
- 35:15Speaker 1: to do all the old laws. Paul said, no, if
- 35:18Speaker 1: you do that, you have fallen from grace.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Okay?
- 35:23Speaker 1: Moses, Bible says, Moses brought the law, but grace and
- 35:28Speaker 1: truth comes through Jesus Christ. There is no grace in
- 35:31Speaker 1: keeping the law. No grace at all. So the Arminian believes,
- 35:37Speaker 1: the Arminian believes that Christians can fall away, I'm going
- 35:41Speaker 1: to use what, can lose, can abandon, can walk away
- 35:46Speaker 1: from their faith and lose faith. their salvation. This point
- 35:54Speaker 1: reflects the Armenian emphasis on continued faith and obedience. Which means,
- 36:00Speaker 1: which means, according to those who are Calvinists, that if
- 36:07Speaker 1: you don't get everything right, if you don't dot every
- 36:10Speaker 1: I and cross every T, if you don't keep your
- 36:12Speaker 1: faith just right the way it's supposed to be, if
- 36:14Speaker 1: you keep messing up or if you mess up, you
- 36:17Speaker 1: can lose it all. I mean, that's the thought process
- 36:22Speaker 1: That's the thought process behind what Calvinists would say concerning
- 36:25Speaker 1: Arminians and lose your salvation.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Okay.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Calvinists believe that Arminianism is a works based salvation. You
- 36:35Speaker 1: got to do, do, do. You got to, you got to,
- 36:37Speaker 1: you got to. If you don't, you might be in
- 36:39Speaker 1: trouble and you always got to be looking over your back. Oh,
- 36:41Speaker 1: you got to looking over your shoulder. Then have I,
- 36:43Speaker 1: have I done enough? Have I believed right?
- 36:46Speaker 2: Have I done? Am I still saved or not?
- 36:48Speaker 1: And, Calvinists say that that's how you live your life
- 36:51Speaker 1: as an Arminian because you, have you done enough?
- 36:56Speaker 2: Are you still, is your faith proper? If it's not,
- 36:59Speaker 2: then what do you do?
- 37:00Speaker 1: That's the line of the Calvinist concerning the Arminian when
- 37:05Speaker 1: it comes to point number five, okay? That you have to,
- 37:10Speaker 1: like I said, dot every I, cross everything, get everything right.
- 37:13Speaker 2: If not, you're in trouble, okay? That's what the Calvinists say.
- 37:19Speaker 2: All righty?
- 37:19Speaker 1: Now, we're going to spend the rest of our time
- 37:29Speaker 1: here tonight talking about the five points of Calvinism.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Okay? The five points of Calvinism. Okay? All right. Let's
- 37:42Speaker 2: look at them.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Number one, it's called total depravity. Remember what we said
- 37:49Speaker 1: about the Arminians. Arminians believe that we are dead in sin.
- 37:52Speaker 1: The Bible says that we are dead.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Dead. Dead means dead. I mean, we can't get around
- 37:58Speaker 2: that word.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Dead does not mean halfway alive or a little bit alive.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Dead means dead. Correct? So the Calvinist says that you
- 38:06Speaker 2: are totally depraved. You are dead. Okay?
- 38:10Speaker 1: There's no possibility of you being revived apart from God
- 38:15Speaker 1: reviving you.
- 38:17Speaker 2: It cannot be done.
- 38:18Speaker 1: There is no, God does not grant you grace ahead
- 38:21Speaker 1: of time so that you can be able to be
- 38:23Speaker 1: alive so that you can get saved.
- 38:25Speaker 2: That's what the Calvinist says. Okay?
- 38:28Speaker 1: So humanity, they believe, is fallen in every aspect of
- 38:32Speaker 1: its nature and unable to choose God without divine intervention.
- 38:38Speaker 1: In other words, God says, well, I don't want to
- 38:41Speaker 1: be sarcastic, but God says, boom. Okay, now you can
- 38:44Speaker 1: wake up so you can get saved. Now, I awaken
- 38:49Speaker 1: you from your death so that you can get saved.
- 38:53Speaker 1: From your spiritual death so that you can be saved.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Amen? That's total depravity. Does it make sense? I mean,
- 39:01Speaker 2: does it make sense?
- 39:03Speaker 1: When the Bible says that we are dead in trespasses
- 39:06Speaker 1: and sins, what does that mean?
- 39:11Speaker 2: It means dead. It means dead. All right? Number two.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Number two. unconditional, unconditional election. Now, what does this mean?
- 39:28Speaker 1: It means that God has chosen from eternity those who
- 39:34Speaker 1: will be saved.
- 39:34Speaker 2: Now, did you hear me say earlier, I.
- 39:36Speaker 1: Said that God knew way back when in the Garden
- 39:39Speaker 1: of Eden, even before the Garden of Eden, he knew
- 39:44Speaker 1: that Michael Jakes, one Friday night.
- 39:47Speaker 2: In 1974, was going to get born again. He knew.
- 39:52Speaker 2: He already knew. Because he's God. It's foreknowledge. He just knew. Okay?
- 40:00Speaker 1: God chooses. This is the unconditional election according to the Calvinist.
- 40:04Speaker 1: God chooses from eternity those who will be saved. Based
- 40:08Speaker 1: solely on his sovereign will and not on foreseen human actions.
- 40:16Speaker 1: There's nothing anybody can do about it. He knows it's
- 40:19Speaker 1: going to happen. You're going to get saved. Nobody can
- 40:23Speaker 1: stop you from being saved. You're not going to stop
- 40:26Speaker 1: you from being saved. You are going to be saved
- 40:29Speaker 1: because God said so.
- 40:31Speaker 2: Okay?
- 40:32Speaker 1: He has chosen you to be saved, and that's the
- 40:35Speaker 1: end of it. You're going to be saved. That's Calvinism.
- 40:41Speaker 2: All right? Does it make sense? Does it make sense?
- 40:47Speaker 2: Number three.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Limited, limited atonement. Okay, listen closely for this one. This
- 40:58Speaker 1: means that Christ's atoning death is effective for and intended
- 41:05Speaker 1: specifically for the elect securing their salvation. What does this
- 41:13Speaker 1: mean in simpler terms? It means that Jesus did not
- 41:17Speaker 1: die for everybody.
- 41:20Speaker 2: That's what I mean. Limited atonement. Okay? Not unlimited universal atonement.
- 41:29Speaker 1: The Calvinist looks at John 3.16 and says, For God
- 41:34Speaker 1: so loved the world of those who will give their
- 41:37Speaker 1: life to Jesus that he gave his only begotten Son
- 41:42Speaker 1: that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have
- 41:44Speaker 1: everlasting life. The Calvinist does not believe that Jesus died
- 41:49Speaker 1: for the world. Calvinists believe that if Jesus died for
- 41:54Speaker 1: the world, then everybody in the world would be saved.
- 41:59Speaker 2: And so John 3, John.
- 42:02Speaker 1: 3, 16 cannot mean what it seems to be saying
- 42:06Speaker 1: that he loved the whole world and he gave his
- 42:09Speaker 1: only begotten son for everybody. And limited atonement says, no,
- 42:16Speaker 1: Jesus died for the elect, for those who, whom God
- 42:21Speaker 1: has sovereignly chosen to be saved from the beginning.
- 42:26Speaker 2: So that means you're watching, you're saved. I'm saved.
- 42:31Speaker 1: That means I'm part of the, according to the Calvinist,
- 42:35Speaker 1: I'm part of that, we're part of that limited atonement.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Everybody else who's not saved yet, we don't know. We
- 42:43Speaker 1: don't know if they're going to get saved. We don't
- 42:45Speaker 1: know if they're part of that limited atonement. There was
- 42:49Speaker 1: a radio station years ago. It's still around today. They're
- 42:52Speaker 1: a lot different than they used to be. It's called
- 42:54Speaker 1: Family Radio. Maybe you've heard of it. Maybe you've listened
- 42:56Speaker 1: to them.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Family Radio.
- 42:58Speaker 1: The president of that station was a man by the
- 43:00Speaker 1: name of Harold Camping. He came up back in the
- 43:03Speaker 1: 80s and.
- 43:04Speaker 2: 90s, I believe. He came up with when Jesus was
- 43:07Speaker 2: going to come back.
- 43:09Speaker 1: This man was so learned, but he was so learned
- 43:11Speaker 1: that he learned too much because he learned himself out.
- 43:17Speaker 2: He learned himself out of his mind.
- 43:18Speaker 1: He was not crazy, but he came up at least
- 43:21Speaker 1: two or three different dates through mathematics of the dates
- 43:25Speaker 1: that Jesus was going to come. Did not he see,
- 43:27Speaker 1: the Bible says that no man knows the day or
- 43:29Speaker 1: the hour, but he still kept going and of course
- 43:32Speaker 1: it never happened. But family radio, they came out with
- 43:38Speaker 1: a tract and they would do evangelism and hand out
- 43:43Speaker 1: these tracts And I've seen the track. And the track says,
- 43:48Speaker 1: does God love you?
- 43:50Speaker 2: Not God loves you.
- 43:51Speaker 1: Not God loves you. Not Jesus loves you. But the
- 43:54Speaker 1: track said, does God love you? In other words, could
- 43:58Speaker 1: it be, this is how he would express it when
- 44:01Speaker 1: he would be preaching. When he would give sort of
- 44:04Speaker 1: an invitation when he was preaching. Could it be that
- 44:08Speaker 1: you are one of the ones that will be saved?
- 44:12Speaker 1: He didn't say, Jesus loves you and he wants you
- 44:15Speaker 1: to come. Could it be that you are the one?
- 44:18Speaker 1: And once again, it was all on that track that
- 44:21Speaker 1: they used to give out. Does God love you? Now,
- 44:25Speaker 1: if you're not one of the chosen ones, one of
- 44:28Speaker 1: the elect, according to him and the rest of the Calvinists,
- 44:32Speaker 1: then God does not love you because he's not going
- 44:35Speaker 1: to save you.
- 44:37Speaker 2: You're never going to be saved. That's why the track said,
- 44:40Speaker 2: does God love you? With a question mark. Okay? That's Calvinism.
- 44:46Speaker 2: That's Calvinism.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Christ's atoning death is effective for and intended specifically for
- 44:55Speaker 1: the elect.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Securing their salvation. They are going to be saved no
- 44:59Speaker 2: matter what. Alrighty? Number four.
- 45:06Speaker 1: Irresistible grace. Now remember who was saying that you can
- 45:11Speaker 1: say no to the Lord? that you don't have to
- 45:14Speaker 1: do what the spirit of God tells you. I know
- 45:16Speaker 1: how that sounds, but we've all been there. None of
- 45:20Speaker 1: us can say that we've always listened to the voice
- 45:22Speaker 1: of the spirit when he speaks to us, when he
- 45:26Speaker 1: has spoken to us. None of us can say that
- 45:27Speaker 1: we have a 100% record that we've always done the
- 45:31Speaker 1: right thing.
- 45:32Speaker 2: When the spirit of God speaks, we move. That should
- 45:34Speaker 2: be the case.
- 45:36Speaker 1: We pray that's the case more than not, but we
- 45:39Speaker 1: have not always obeyed the voice of the spirit. And
- 45:42Speaker 1: even before you get saved, and that's what this statement
- 45:45Speaker 1: is about. It's talking about concerning salvation. This says, God's
- 45:50Speaker 1: grace draws those he elects to faith. What this means
- 45:55Speaker 1: is that when the Spirit of God draws someone who
- 45:58Speaker 1: is elected or chosen, they cannot resist.
- 46:04Speaker 2: They cannot say no to the call of salvation.
- 46:08Speaker 1: If that were the case, that means that that Friday
- 46:10Speaker 1: night in 1974, well, before that, those nights that I went,
- 46:15Speaker 1: those days I went to church before that night, I
- 46:18Speaker 1: would have got saved the first time that I had
- 46:20Speaker 1: an inkling of the spirit of God speaking to me,
- 46:22Speaker 1: even though I didn't understand what was happening. I knew
- 46:25Speaker 1: something was taking place, but I just knew. But irresistible
- 46:31Speaker 1: grace says you can't resist. When the call of salvation
- 46:36Speaker 1: is on your life, you come because he's sovereign and
- 46:42Speaker 1: you are not.
- 46:43Speaker 2: And you can't say no to the call of salvation.
- 46:46Speaker 2: That's irresistible grace. All right. That's irresistible grace. All right. Finally,
- 46:52Speaker 2: number five, we're going to close it down here.
- 46:56Speaker 1: Number five, the perseverance of the saints. And once again,
- 47:03Speaker 1: as we said, uh, previously with the Armenians, uh, Arminians
- 47:10Speaker 1: believe that you can lose your salvation. You can walk
- 47:15Speaker 1: away or you can abandon it or God will take
- 47:19Speaker 1: it away from you because whatever, however it happens, if
- 47:23Speaker 1: it can happen, that's what can happen. The Calvinist says,
- 47:29Speaker 1: all who are truly, truly regenerated and elected by God,
- 47:39Speaker 1: will persevere in faith until the end.
- 47:44Speaker 2: There's no question. There's no doubt.
- 47:49Speaker 1: You, if you are saved, if you are truly born again,
- 47:52Speaker 1: this is the once saved, always saved mantra. If you
- 47:56Speaker 1: are truly regenerated, if you have the spirit of God
- 47:59Speaker 1: in your life and you've been elected and chosen by God,
- 48:06Speaker 1: you will be saved. Eternal life means eternal life. Eternal
- 48:15Speaker 1: life does not mean eternal temporary life or eternal temporary
- 48:23Speaker 1: until you don't want to be anymore life.
- 48:26Speaker 2: Okay? Once again, that's... These are the two sides, ladies
- 48:34Speaker 2: and gentlemen.
- 48:35Speaker 1: So you see how these two sides, Arminianism and Calvinism,
- 48:39Speaker 1: how they are diametrically opposed to one another. But there
- 48:44Speaker 1: are believers on both sides. Let me just stress that again.
- 48:48Speaker 1: There are believers on both sides. I'm going to repeat
- 48:51Speaker 1: what I said at the outset. No one should look
- 48:54Speaker 1: at those who believe that you can lose your salvation
- 48:57Speaker 1: and say, you're wrong, you're not a Christian. No one
- 48:59Speaker 1: who believes that you can lose your salvation should not
- 49:02Speaker 1: look at those who say that you can never lose
- 49:04Speaker 1: your salvation and say, you're not really saved because.
- 49:06Speaker 2: You, no, no, no. No. No. There are believers on
- 49:14Speaker 2: both sides. Okay? Now, I pray.
- 49:19Speaker 1: I hope, I pray that I've given a sort of
- 49:23Speaker 1: a balanced understanding of both sides. When we come together
- 49:28Speaker 1: next week, we'll put more scripture into it. We didn't
- 49:33Speaker 1: really put scripture into it, but next week when we
- 49:36Speaker 1: come together, we'll continue on this subject but we're going
- 49:39Speaker 1: to add some scripture to these five points on either side.
- 49:44Speaker 1: Because as I said, both sides have enough proof to
- 49:52Speaker 1: make their point. The Calvinist has enough proof on their
- 49:56Speaker 1: side to say, listen, look what the Bible says. It's
- 50:00Speaker 1: very clear that you cannot lose your salvation. What does
- 50:04Speaker 1: it mean when the Bible says that we are sealed?
- 50:08Speaker 1: unto the day of redemption. The Calvinist says that means something.
- 50:12Speaker 1: If we are sealed, a seal, a seal, stamped by God,
- 50:16Speaker 1: it's a seal. By the Holy Spirit, it's a seal.
- 50:21Speaker 1: And the Calvinist says, how can we, how is it
- 50:25Speaker 1: possible that anyone can break the seal and say, listen,
- 50:29Speaker 1: I'm not in this anymore. Or because I don't believe,
- 50:32Speaker 1: or because I sin too much.
- 50:35Speaker 2: I broke the seal.
- 50:36Speaker 1: How can we, how can, according to the Calvinist, how
- 50:39Speaker 1: can someone break the seal of the Holy Spirit?
- 50:42Speaker 2: Okay?
- 50:46Speaker 1: Once again, next week, we'll get a description from both
- 50:48Speaker 1: sides to see how both sides prove their points. Now,
- 50:53Speaker 1: I don't know where anybody is. I don't really know
- 50:56Speaker 1: where anybody is on these five points. I don't know
- 51:00Speaker 1: who is an Arminian and who is a Calvinist. Listen,
- 51:05Speaker 1: As I said, don't let those two titles, don't put
- 51:09Speaker 1: those two titles on your head.
- 51:10Speaker 2: I'm an Arminian. I'm a Calvinist. Just what does the
- 51:15Speaker 2: Bible say? Okay?
- 51:18Speaker 1: Okay, we don't bring, we're not bringing this study to
- 51:24Speaker 1: cause any steam. We're not bringing this study to, you know,
- 51:27Speaker 1: to cause any commotion, to bring controversy.
- 51:31Speaker 2: No, not at all. I have resisted. Yeah, that is
- 51:34Speaker 2: the word that we've been talking about tonight.
- 51:35Speaker 1: I have resisted doing a study like this for years,
- 51:40Speaker 1: for years, years, because I know that it's a subject
- 51:45Speaker 1: that is.
- 51:48Speaker 2: Very volatile.
- 51:49Speaker 1: As I said, brothers and sisters have split over this,
- 51:53Speaker 1: have argued over this, okay? And we're not trying to
- 51:57Speaker 1: see anything like that, okay? So we just bless the Lord.
- 52:02Speaker 2: We honor him. God bless you, Lakeisha. Thank you all
- 52:08Speaker 2: for joining.
- 52:08Speaker 1: I see a question here. How can we discern between
- 52:14Speaker 1: our thoughts and God's voice? That's a good question. That's
- 52:18Speaker 1: a good question. Listen, when it comes to discernment, everybody has,
- 52:24Speaker 1: everyone has a measure of discernment because the Holy Spirit
- 52:28Speaker 1: is in us and the Holy Spirit is a discerner.
- 52:31Speaker 1: And so we will have a measure of discernment in us,
- 52:34Speaker 1: with us. Your discerning, your ability to discern will increase
- 52:40Speaker 1: as you embrace scripture, as you put yourself on a
- 52:45Speaker 1: steady diet of Bible. The more you read, the more
- 52:49Speaker 1: you intake scripture, the more your discernment will, the better
- 52:56Speaker 1: your discernment will be. And it will be very, it
- 52:59Speaker 1: will become It will become simpler to recognize his voice
- 53:06Speaker 1: from your own because you are able to discern because
- 53:11Speaker 1: you have hidden his word in your heart.
- 53:15Speaker 2: So that you will not sin against him. Okay?
- 53:18Speaker 1: I would say that is how we can know. The
- 53:22Speaker 1: more you read, the more you study, your thoughts are
- 53:25Speaker 1: going to be in line with his. Your thoughts are
- 53:29Speaker 1: going to be in line with his. And you will
- 53:33Speaker 1: know that's not from God. You'll know that it's either
- 53:39Speaker 1: you or the enemy whispering. You'll know the difference.
- 53:43Speaker 2: Okay? You'll know the difference. Amen? God bless you, Cynthia. Amen.
- 53:47Speaker 2: Thank you so much. All right?
- 53:49Speaker 1: So, everybody, we will be back here next week. Next
- 53:53Speaker 1: week we will be back here at 8 o'clock p.m.
- 53:56Speaker 1: Eastern Standard Time. Lord willing, I need to say that
- 54:01Speaker 1: every time we'll be back here next week at eight
- 54:04Speaker 1: o'clock p.m. Eastern Standard Time. And we're going to continue
- 54:07Speaker 1: with this study. We'll also be we'll be here Sunday
- 54:12Speaker 1: afternoon at four o'clock p.m.
- 54:14Speaker 2: With the Sunday sermon series.
- 54:16Speaker 1: Also, also this coming Friday, we will be with Juliana
- 54:20Speaker 1: Croshaw of the Crosswalk Life Ministries.
- 54:25Speaker 2: And we will continue in our study in the book
- 54:28Speaker 2: of John. Amen.
- 54:29Speaker 1: That'll be Friday morning, 10 o'clock Eastern Standard Time. The
- 54:35Speaker 1: time has changed for that Friday only, this coming Friday only.
- 54:39Speaker 1: We will be online live at 10 o'clock a.m. Eastern
- 54:44Speaker 1: Standard Time. That's 10, 11, well, you can do the math. Well,
- 54:50Speaker 1: whatever time zone you're in, if you're able to, be
- 54:52Speaker 1: able to stop by for a bit, we would appreciate it.
- 54:55Speaker 2: Amen. Alrighty.
- 54:56Speaker 1: So that's it for me. We pray that you study that.
- 54:59Speaker 1: We pray that you have enjoyed this study. Um, it's, it's,
- 55:06Speaker 1: this is a very volatile, volatile subject.
- 55:09Speaker 2: Amen. Uh, it is truly, it is truly a blazing
- 55:12Speaker 2: hot topic. Okay. Blazing hot topic. Amen.
- 55:17Speaker 1: Um, so we'll be back Lord. Uh, we'll be back folks. Uh,
- 55:20Speaker 1: thank you for watching. And we will see you.
- 55:25Speaker 2: The next time. Hope you can join us. God bless. Oh,
- 55:28Speaker 2: I forgot one thing. I forgot. I forgot. I forgot
- 55:31Speaker 2: one thing. Not leaving yet. Not leaving yet. Coming up.
- 55:35Speaker 2: Coming up. Coming up. In January. In January, our new book.
- 55:39Speaker 1: Our new book coming out in this January entitled For
- 55:42Speaker 1: the Faith.
- 55:44Speaker 2: Engaging in the battle for truth in the last days.
- 55:49Speaker 1: God has called all True believers to be contenders of
- 55:52Speaker 1: the faith.
- 55:53Speaker 2: Are you a contender? Okay. We've been working on this
- 56:00Speaker 2: book for several, several months.
- 56:04Speaker 1: The story about the story of this book and how
- 56:08Speaker 1: and why it's being written is in the book.
- 56:10Speaker 2: I'm not even going to start talking about it. But
- 56:17Speaker 2: this book will be ready for release soon. In January. Amen.
- 56:23Speaker 2: In January.
- 56:24Speaker 1: And so we thank the Lord for giving us this opportunity.
- 56:27Speaker 1: We're still writing along. We're still writing. But we should
- 56:31Speaker 1: be done by that time.
- 56:34Speaker 2: Amen. All righty.
- 56:35Speaker 1: So thank you, everybody. Thank you for joining us. And
- 56:39Speaker 1: God is good. God is good all the time. We
- 56:41Speaker 1: will see you the next time, everybody. Everybody have a
- 56:44Speaker 1: good rest of your weekend.
- 56:45Speaker 2: Weekend. We'll see you. God bless you.
- 56:54Speaker 1: Music Playing
