- 3:24Speaker 3: good morning and welcome to the show.
- 3:27Speaker 5: Good morning, and happy Friday.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Happy Friday, and I know it's a really happy Friday
- 3:31Speaker 3: for you guys because you guys are still cleaning up
- 3:34Speaker 3: from the flooding over this past weekend. We'll have more
- 3:36Speaker 3: on that coming up a little bit a little bit
- 3:38Speaker 3: later on, but first let's get to our actual Adopt
- 3:40Speaker 3: Me Please put of the Week, brought to you by
- 3:42Speaker 3: Almost Havin Interiors in South Charleston. Picture posted Dave Alan
- 3:46Speaker 3: Radio on Facebook. The WCCHS network Facebook page and at
- 3:49Speaker 3: dave a seventy on x Angie tell us about Grimlin.
- 3:54Speaker 5: So, Grimlin is one of my favorites at the shelter
- 3:56Speaker 5: right now. He's a great bully looking he's about six
- 4:01Speaker 5: years old, definitely a little bit older. He is just
- 4:05Speaker 5: the sweetest little dog. In playgroups, all the other dogs
- 4:09Speaker 5: are kind of zooming and zipping by him playing and
- 4:11Speaker 5: he just kind of waddles around the playyards. He's very sweet.
- 4:15Speaker 5: He's not yet neutered, but he will be before he
- 4:18Speaker 5: goes home. And his adoption fee has been totally paid for,
- 4:21Speaker 5: so he's zero dollars to take home.
- 4:23Speaker 3: And he came in as astray from what you told
- 4:24Speaker 3: me right.
- 4:26Speaker 5: Yes, he actually came in as astray from the Charleston
- 4:28Speaker 5: area with the humane officer and no one has claimed him.
- 4:32Speaker 5: No one knows any much about him, so he is
- 4:35Speaker 5: now available for adoption after his mandatory.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Street He's a great looking dog. And you said he's
- 4:40Speaker 3: got a little bit of a pit in him, But
- 4:42Speaker 3: don't let that frighten you off, because some people can
- 4:44Speaker 3: be afraid of things like that for one reason or another,
- 4:46Speaker 3: mainly because they believe a lot of nonsense, But that's
- 4:49Speaker 3: another story for another time. The dog is an absolutely
- 4:52Speaker 3: beautiful dog. We've got his picture posted Dave Alan Radio
- 4:55Speaker 3: on Facebook at Dave a seventy on X and the
- 4:57Speaker 3: WHS network facebook page gets along well with other dogs.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Have we seen him around kids at all?
- 5:04Speaker 5: I don't imagine he would be problematic around children. However,
- 5:08Speaker 5: where he is a little bit older, you can tell
- 5:11Speaker 5: that he has some like almost like arthritic type pain
- 5:14Speaker 5: in his legs that we are managing. But again, that
- 5:18Speaker 5: can be something that's difficult to manage around small children.
- 5:22Speaker 5: So I would say maybe just kids that are a
- 5:24Speaker 5: little bit older that aren't going to be laying all
- 5:26Speaker 5: over him and think.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Well, and we always urge that people do basically a
- 5:31Speaker 3: test drive, you know, ahead of time. Yeah, and you
- 5:33Speaker 3: can take him out for a walk and bring your
- 5:35Speaker 3: kids up there to see how how he does. He's
- 5:36Speaker 3: a beautiful dog. Hopefully we can get him adopted. All right,
- 5:40Speaker 3: So let's talk about the cleanup. What all happened up there,
- 5:42Speaker 3: When did it happen and how's the cleanup going.
- 5:46Speaker 5: So on Monday morning, our staff arrived to the shelter
- 5:49Speaker 5: after those very horrific storms Sunday night, and we had
- 5:54Speaker 5: a lot of trees down all over the property. There
- 5:57Speaker 5: was a considerable amount of just mud and debris in
- 6:00Speaker 5: the parking lot. A tree had actually fallen on our
- 6:03Speaker 5: cat isolation building. I didn't do any damage, and our
- 6:08Speaker 5: dumpster had floated into the woods, which is I mean that?
- 6:13Speaker 5: But we put that plea out on Facebook and lo
- 6:18Speaker 5: and behold, we had no doubt, but our community really
- 6:20Speaker 5: came together for us and bolt sloncair without question, Hesitation
- 6:26Speaker 5: showed up and started removing trees for us. We also
- 6:29Speaker 5: received a small amount of flooding. I was like a
- 6:32Speaker 5: little less than an inch of water in our storage
- 6:35Speaker 5: building where we store all of the food for our
- 6:37Speaker 5: pet pantry and shelter pets. We lost a little bit
- 6:41Speaker 5: of that food, and Walmart and Cross Lanes again without Hesitation,
- 6:45Speaker 5: without question, replaced all of that food and then it
- 6:48Speaker 5: gave us a three hundred dollars gift card to purchase
- 6:51Speaker 5: any needs for any shelter pets that we have.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Now, as far as the cleanup goes continuing, we always
- 6:57Speaker 3: give folks a list of things that you need, but
- 6:59Speaker 3: related to the cleanup, specifically, what is it you're still
- 7:03Speaker 3: in need of, if anything.
- 7:05Speaker 5: So our trail also took a hit during this and
- 7:09Speaker 5: we've yet to clean that up one hundred percent. So
- 7:11Speaker 5: if you love to landscape or if you love to
- 7:14Speaker 5: you know, trim trees, trim branches, things of that nature,
- 7:18Speaker 5: pick up garbage. That is a big thing that we
- 7:21Speaker 5: are still in need of, is clearing that out. So
- 7:23Speaker 5: it is totally clear for people to walk our shelter petsickein.
- 7:27Speaker 3: And isn't an amazing how And we saw this not
- 7:30Speaker 3: just with the shelter, Angie, but with other folks in
- 7:33Speaker 3: the community when we had this flooding, and not only
- 7:36Speaker 3: here in Charleston but other areas of the state. How
- 7:38Speaker 3: West Virginians respond and without even questioning. I mean, we're
- 7:42Speaker 3: the kind of folks, as I saw a meme on
- 7:44Speaker 3: social media that said, you know, with all due respect,
- 7:46Speaker 3: we don't wait on emergency crews to come in if
- 7:50Speaker 3: it's safe, we go in with chainsaws and do it ourself.
- 7:52Speaker 3: You know, that's the kind of people we have here
- 7:54Speaker 3: in West Virginia.
- 7:55Speaker 5: Oh, I would agree one hundred percent. And I like,
- 7:58Speaker 5: I can't believe that what we saw on Monday, and
- 8:01Speaker 5: I'm sitting here saying, yeah, the only thing we really
- 8:03Speaker 5: need left is that trial is cleared out. So like
- 8:06Speaker 5: the fact that that's the only thing that we still
- 8:08Speaker 5: need is that's beyond amazing to me.
- 8:11Speaker 3: And there was a sad story out of our friends
- 8:13Speaker 3: in Fayette County with their shelter as well, and it's
- 8:15Speaker 3: not the first time it's happened. I think the brids
- 8:17Speaker 3: got washed washed out, Is that right?
- 8:20Speaker 6: Uh?
- 8:20Speaker 5: Yeah, So they were at a point where they could
- 8:22Speaker 5: not access the pets that they were caring for. They
- 8:26Speaker 5: have gotten that taken care of. They're able to take
- 8:28Speaker 5: care of the pets and get over to them, but
- 8:31Speaker 5: they are also in need of I mean, supplies, anything
- 8:35Speaker 5: pet related. It seems as a lot of their supplies
- 8:38Speaker 5: were a total loss. So if you know we're in
- 8:41Speaker 5: good standing, we're offering supplies to them, extra things that
- 8:44Speaker 5: we get and helping them out in any way we can.
- 8:48Speaker 5: So if you're also thinking of wanting to help out
- 8:51Speaker 5: a shelter in need, Fayette could also certainly use your help.
- 8:56Speaker 3: I've got a texture that said twenty of the animals
- 9:00Speaker 3: left the shelter earlier in morning for New Jersey, and
- 9:02Speaker 3: there was a tornado that hit there late yesterday. So
- 9:05Speaker 3: do you know what? They're all safe and prayers for
- 9:06Speaker 3: the sweet souls moving from one disaster time to another.
- 9:10Speaker 5: Yes, so everybody was safe. Everyone made it to New
- 9:13Speaker 5: Jersey without incident. They all made it to their kennels
- 9:16Speaker 5: and were completely safe throughout the night. I'm pretty sure
- 9:21Speaker 5: that specific area was not the area where our adoption
- 9:25Speaker 5: center is, so thank goodness for that. But I do
- 9:27Speaker 5: appreciate everyone's standing on top of it. The volunteer that
- 9:30Speaker 5: drove them up said everything was picture perfect.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Let's talk about the happy stuff. Kegs for Canines next
- 9:36Speaker 3: week at the Red Carpet. Talk about tickets, times, etc.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Yes, you asked me too quick on the time last week,
- 9:42Speaker 5: but I can't prepare this. So Cakes for Caneines is
- 9:47Speaker 5: next Saturday, which is crazy that it's coming up that fast.
- 9:51Speaker 5: It starts at four pm at the Red Carpet Lounge.
- 9:54Speaker 5: You can purchase your tickets on the Facebook page. You
- 9:57Speaker 5: don't have Facebook, you can come up to us at
- 9:59Speaker 5: the shelter and we can care of that for you.
- 10:01Speaker 5: But it is a fundraising event for animals in need.
- 10:05Speaker 5: And I say every time you get to drink beer,
- 10:07Speaker 5: pet dogs and just enjoy your Saturday.
- 10:10Speaker 3: So well, we're looking forward to being there. Steve Animal
- 10:13Speaker 3: and I from ninety eight to seven to Mounts and
- 10:14Speaker 3: Wild and Wonderful Classic Rock will be there for that
- 10:16Speaker 3: next Saturday afternoon. How are tickets going for this?
- 10:20Speaker 5: There are still tickets still Okay, yeah, there are still
- 10:23Speaker 5: tickets available to get them all day last. I do
- 10:26Speaker 5: foresee a lot of tickets going next week of people,
- 10:29Speaker 5: you know, making some life minute.
- 10:30Speaker 3: It's way it always works. It's just a great time.
- 10:33Speaker 3: And of course the Red Carpet Lounge is a fantastic place.
- 10:36Speaker 3: As I said, there will be some college football, not
- 10:38Speaker 3: the not the entire schedule, but there'll be some college
- 10:40Speaker 3: football I think on next weekend, so they'll have the
- 10:42Speaker 3: TVs up there. It's a great venue. You get the
- 10:44Speaker 3: tiki bar. If it's a little too warm and you
- 10:46Speaker 3: want to go inside, you can sit down, you can
- 10:48Speaker 3: be outside, you can be shaded. It's a great place
- 10:50Speaker 3: for the facilities. And hands off to the folks at
- 10:52Speaker 3: Red Carpet for giving it up to host the event there,
- 10:55Speaker 3: and we're going to be talking about it with you
- 10:56Speaker 3: next week. But also I think one of your cohorts
- 10:58Speaker 3: a schedule to be on the show too to talk
- 11:00Speaker 3: about it as well. So we're looking forward to that.
- 11:02Speaker 3: You guys are going to be out and about anywhere
- 11:04Speaker 3: this weekend.
- 11:06Speaker 5: Yes, tomorrow, we're going to be at the Pintry Union.
- 11:08Speaker 5: We'll specifically be stationed near the pinch Fire Department. We'll
- 11:12Speaker 5: be there from twelve to three with some adoptable pets
- 11:14Speaker 5: in our transport van. So definitely stop by. If you
- 11:17Speaker 5: don't have plans to adopt or can't adopt, you can
- 11:20Speaker 5: still stop by, say hello and get some puppy and
- 11:22Speaker 5: kid you love.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Well.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Angie, we appreciate you being here because I saw the
- 11:26Speaker 3: pictures like everybody else did earlier this week man of
- 11:29Speaker 3: what was going on at the shelter and with the
- 11:31Speaker 3: trees and everything. And again, the community, I'm a big
- 11:35Speaker 3: shout out the folks of Bolts, but the community volunteers
- 11:38Speaker 3: just came in and kind of got you guys up
- 11:40Speaker 3: and rolling, and that is really really good stuff. And
- 11:43Speaker 3: so that's what we do here in West Virginia. Angie,
- 11:46Speaker 3: we will talk to you next week. Thanks a loon.
- 11:48Speaker 5: Absolutely have a good weekend.
- 11:49Speaker 3: You as well. Again, are adopt me please put it
- 11:52Speaker 3: the week. His name is Grimlin I've got his picture
- 11:55Speaker 3: posted Dave Alan Radio on Facebook and at Dave a
- 11:57Speaker 3: seventy on x and also at the NHS Network page.
- 12:01Speaker 3: Grimlin is six years old. He's around forty four pounds.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Came in as a stray. Loves playgroups and other dogs.
- 12:09Speaker 3: His adoption fees taken care of, so he is free.
- 12:12Speaker 3: And also he's not neutered yet, but he will be
- 12:15Speaker 3: by the time he goes home. Older dog, but it
- 12:19Speaker 3: would be a great pet for you. Go look at
- 12:20Speaker 3: his picture. Look at those eyes. He's just looking up
- 12:22Speaker 3: the cameras saying adopt. That's why we call this the
- 12:24Speaker 3: Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week. Folks. All right,
- 12:27Speaker 3: go get Grimlin, get him in a good home. Every
- 12:30Speaker 3: Friday morning we do this. It is called the Adopt

- 12:49Speaker 3: Charleston text, The pitbull reputation isn't one that's entirely undeserved.
- 12:55Speaker 3: They are not dogs for everyone. They are dogs for
- 12:57Speaker 3: responsible pet owners. The dog may be the sweetest and gentalist,
- 12:59Speaker 3: but the terriers in their DNA terriers were bred to
- 13:02Speaker 3: kill things. Not saying that they should be genocided, just
- 13:05Speaker 3: saying they're more of a responsibility than corgy. I one
- 13:08Speaker 3: hundred percent agree with what that. I mean. Some of
- 13:12Speaker 3: my relatives growing up had a chihwala that would absolutely
- 13:17Speaker 3: do more damage than a pitbull. That dog was just
- 13:19Speaker 3: downright mean. So sometimes it's it's all, how you They
- 13:24Speaker 3: aren't really raising to be that way. He just kind

- 16:29Speaker 3: in a lifetime experience if you're a WVU fan and
- 16:32Speaker 3: you'll be hoping out West Virginia's kids as well. See
- 16:35Speaker 3: all the rules in details. Is your favorite WVRC media
- 16:37Speaker 3: station websites, Gomart, Official Convenience Store of WU Athletics and
- 16:41Speaker 3: WVRC media stations. Let's go we are efforting the runaway
- 16:45Speaker 3: beer truck. Apparently he ran away a little too far
- 16:48Speaker 3: Owen Schmidt and Ryan is still working on trying to
- 16:50Speaker 3: get Old Schmid with it's but in the meantime, the
- 16:51Speaker 3: reason we had him on the show was to talk
- 16:53Speaker 3: about big happenings tomorrow in the city of Nitro. I
- 16:55Speaker 3: want to bring in Joe Stevens from the City of
- 16:57Speaker 3: Nitro or right now to talk about it. Joe Morning,
- 17:00Speaker 3: and welcome to the show.
- 17:02Speaker 11: Good morning, David. I tell you what it's always fun
- 17:05Speaker 11: to listen to when the community steps up for like
- 17:10Speaker 11: the Humane Society and for all the folks that have
- 17:13Speaker 11: suffered through the flooding and everything. You know, you just
- 17:17Speaker 11: can't find this kind of community help anywhere else.
- 17:21Speaker 3: You're exactly right and simple, and they always do. I
- 17:25Speaker 3: want to talk about this event that City of nitrosy
- 17:28Speaker 3: is helping out with tomorrow. It's the Nitro Youth Football
- 17:30Speaker 3: League and you've got an entire day's worth of activities
- 17:33Speaker 3: getting folks ready for the upcoming season, not the least
- 17:35Speaker 3: of which is Owen Schmidt. The runaway beer truck that
- 17:39Speaker 3: is scheduled to be there tomorrow. He'll be signing autographs,
- 17:43Speaker 3: Brand Marshall for the parade kind of just take us
- 17:45Speaker 3: to the schedule, Joe.
- 17:47Speaker 11: Well, it all centers around, like you said, David, the
- 17:51Speaker 11: opening day for the Nitro Youth Football League. The games
- 17:56Speaker 11: themselves will get underway at three o'clock. There is a
- 18:01Speaker 11: parade for the youth League that starts at two o'clock.
- 18:04Speaker 11: That'll go from the Boat ramp over on Maine Avenue
- 18:09Speaker 11: and it will follow up to the High School and
- 18:12Speaker 11: Underwood Field. That'll go about two o'clock. And like you said,
- 18:15Speaker 11: Owen Schmidt, former WBU great player for the Seattle Seahawks
- 18:21Speaker 11: and also a couple other teams, Raiders and the Eagles. Yes,
- 18:29Speaker 11: and so he will be the grand Marshall of the
- 18:32Speaker 11: parade at two o'clock. But before all that, around ten o'clock,
- 18:37Speaker 11: the Nitro Football Card and collectible show put on by
- 18:41Speaker 11: Third Floor Comics here in Nitro, where the Nitro Antique
- 18:45Speaker 11: Mall is located. They will be hosting a card show
- 18:50Speaker 11: at the commons area of the High School Nitro High
- 18:53Speaker 11: School on Park Avenue. That'll get underway about ten o'clock
- 18:58Speaker 11: and go until about four o'clock. And Owen Schmid is
- 19:01Speaker 11: scheduled to be on site from ten o'clock until about
- 19:06Speaker 11: one o'clock, signing autographs, greeting people and just talking. I
- 19:12Speaker 11: guess he's got he's got some great former, some stories
- 19:15Speaker 11: from when he played for WVU. Owen's really stepping up
- 19:20Speaker 11: like the other folks that we've had here for the
- 19:22Speaker 11: baseball opening and also now football opening. Major Harris was
- 19:27Speaker 11: here last year, Chrissebo was here from the Cincinnati Reds
- 19:31Speaker 11: earlier this year. They're signing autographs and all the proceeds
- 19:35Speaker 11: from the autographs will be going back to the Nitro
- 19:39Speaker 11: Youth Football League. So it's a fun time starting at
- 19:42Speaker 11: ten o'clock with the card show parades. At two o'clock,
- 19:46Speaker 11: then we will the prey will go into Underwood Field
- 19:49Speaker 11: and at three o'clock Owen will be flipping the coin
- 19:52Speaker 11: to start the season off.
- 19:53Speaker 3: It's going to be a good time tomorrow in Nitro
- 19:55Speaker 3: again as they get ready for the Nitro Youth Football League.
- 19:58Speaker 3: And you look back and you talk about the career
- 20:00Speaker 3: of Owen Schmidt, and as you said, he played professionally
- 20:03Speaker 3: for the Seahawks. He was I think a fifth round
- 20:05Speaker 3: draft choice of the Seahawks and he played a little
- 20:07Speaker 3: bit for the Raiders and for the Eagles, and he's
- 20:09Speaker 3: got a fascinating stories. Originally from Virginia, played college ball
- 20:13Speaker 3: initially at a very small college in Wisconsin and then
- 20:17Speaker 3: came back to WVU. And those were some exciting times
- 20:20Speaker 3: for the Mountaineers if you think about that mid to
- 20:22Speaker 3: late two thousands time frame. I mean, you know, coach
- 20:26Speaker 3: Rod was there of course before leaving him coming back,
- 20:28Speaker 3: and Steve Slayton and Pat White. I mean, those were
- 20:33Speaker 3: some exciting times for Mountaineer football.
- 20:37Speaker 11: And you knew how hard and how much Owen was
- 20:42Speaker 11: in every game he played because he would take his
- 20:44Speaker 11: helmet off on the sidelines and then he was he
- 20:48Speaker 11: was bloody. He was putting everything into the game. And
- 20:53Speaker 11: then the speech he made on national television after the
- 20:57Speaker 11: Bowl win for Bill Stewart and and then Bill Stewart
- 21:01Speaker 11: became the coach of the Mountaineers and everything that's also
- 21:05Speaker 11: very very, you know, memorable as it may be.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Talked to Joe Stevens again from the City of Nitro.
- 21:11Speaker 3: It's nine twenty eight The Dave Island Show and five
- 21:13Speaker 3: Vidiyeline Brown Tuning and parted by Hustin's Pizza this month's

- 21:21Speaker 3: local Hustands for delivery, pickup or dined in at Hustinspizza
- 21:24Speaker 3: dot com. And you know he was just I mean
- 21:28Speaker 3: Owen I say he was. He's still around, but Owen
- 21:30Speaker 3: is just one of those guys that look I was.
- 21:33Speaker 3: I remember him saying one time at an interview that
- 21:35Speaker 3: I saw that his hero growing up was John Riggins.
- 21:38Speaker 3: And write this down because you're not going to hear
- 21:41Speaker 3: me say this very often. Are some of my friend
- 21:42Speaker 3: Tony the Taylor that I know what's listening because he
- 21:44Speaker 3: listens every morning. As much as a cowboy fan as
- 21:47Speaker 3: I loathe and despise that team from Washington, I did
- 21:51Speaker 3: like John Riggins, all right. Riggins was, I mean, was
- 21:55Speaker 3: just a fantastic player. We remember the Mohawk, and he
- 21:57Speaker 3: played for the Jets before he came to the Washington team.
- 22:00Speaker 3: And that was Owen Schmidt's hero growing up. And and
- 22:04Speaker 3: you could understand that because there were very similar styles Joe,
- 22:07Speaker 3: between uh Rigo and between Owen Schmidt.
- 22:10Speaker 11: Oh, by the way, I resemble that remark about respecting
- 22:14Speaker 11: ballplayers from the Redskins now the Commodore's and what have you.
- 22:17Speaker 11: But yes, when when Rigo got the ball, people either
- 22:21Speaker 11: got out of the way or got run over. Ye.
- 22:23Speaker 11: And that's almost the same way with Owen Schmidt.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Also, Yeah, and you know, and Owen was just such
- 22:27Speaker 3: a character off the field and continues to be a
- 22:29Speaker 3: character off the field. Of course, you know his exploits
- 22:32Speaker 3: with the Davis and Brothers, the guys I had a
- 22:34Speaker 3: chance to hang out with a couple of weeks ago
- 22:35Speaker 3: or legendary and they actually opened up a saloon there
- 22:38Speaker 3: in Morgantown for a while. And uh and uh and
- 22:41Speaker 3: and he he loves those, He loves that. He's just
- 22:43Speaker 3: a guy that loves to have a good time. And
- 22:46Speaker 3: most recently he's been coaching at Greenboro West High School,
- 22:50Speaker 3: you know, helping out with that program down there. So
- 22:53Speaker 3: hats off to him for I mean, because he may
- 22:55Speaker 3: not be a a w V and it may not
- 22:57Speaker 3: be a West Virginia native, my gosh, he he definitely
- 23:01Speaker 3: adopted us or we adopted him, one of the two.
- 23:04Speaker 11: You know. Can you imagine being having him as your
- 23:07Speaker 11: coach and he not being satisfied with the way the
- 23:10Speaker 11: running backs are hitting the hole and then he decides
- 23:14Speaker 11: to take the ball. Can you be can you imagine
- 23:16Speaker 11: being that Defenser?
- 23:17Speaker 3: Now I cannot.
- 23:22Speaker 11: I should see somebody saying, come on, coach, show us
- 23:25Speaker 11: how to.
- 23:25Speaker 3: Do it, you know, And he was just one of
- 23:27Speaker 3: those guys and one of the most famous scenes. I
- 23:29Speaker 3: know Chris Lawrence doesn't want to hear about this, but
- 23:32Speaker 3: in college football was one of my idols growing up
- 23:34Speaker 3: with herschel Walker when he played for Georgia and one
- 23:36Speaker 3: of his first games he completely ran over a future
- 23:39Speaker 3: Dallas Cowboy in Bill Bates, I mean knocked him from
- 23:43Speaker 3: Saturday to Tuesday. And of course Bates went on to
- 23:48Speaker 3: play for the Cowboys, but I just it's it. That's
- 23:51Speaker 3: the kind of plays that Owen Schmid had on a
- 23:53Speaker 3: regular basis.
- 23:55Speaker 11: And he'll be here in Nitro tomorrow studying at about
- 23:57Speaker 11: ten o'clock in the Commons area of Knight High School.
- 24:01Speaker 11: He will be signing autographs at the Nitro Football card
- 24:04Speaker 11: and collectible show put on by Third four Comics, and
- 24:08Speaker 11: that'll start at ten o'clock. He'll be signing autographs until
- 24:11Speaker 11: about one o'clock. Then he's the Grand Marshall on the
- 24:13Speaker 11: pard at two o'clock and you flipping the coin to
- 24:15Speaker 11: start the season at three o'clock.
- 24:17Speaker 3: Well, and again I think hats off to you, Joe,
- 24:20Speaker 3: and the people of Nitro and the Nitro Youth Football
- 24:22Speaker 3: League for and baseball too, for doing this because you
- 24:25Speaker 3: make opening day for these kids, not just the first
- 24:29Speaker 3: day of the season. And we all know the statistics
- 24:31Speaker 3: that fewer and fewer kids are taking part in sports,
- 24:33Speaker 3: whether it's football, baseball, basketball, whatever, they're just not doing
- 24:36Speaker 3: it as much anymore. And you guys are trying to
- 24:38Speaker 3: make it an event for kids and parents and grandparents
- 24:40Speaker 3: to come out and you know, make them feel really
- 24:42Speaker 3: special on those opening days. So hats off. I know
- 24:45Speaker 3: it wasn't just you, but there's a lot of people
- 24:46Speaker 3: involved in this, so hats off to all those people
- 24:49Speaker 3: for making opening days special football, baseball or whatever day.
- 24:54Speaker 11: The new mantra around here is compete, fun and memories.
- 25:00Speaker 11: That's what we're trying to provide.
- 25:01Speaker 3: All right, Joe, I appreciate it, my friend. Thanks a lot,
- 25:04Speaker 3: good luck and we'll talk soon. Thanks buddy.
- 25:08Speaker 11: Let's go Cowboys.
- 25:09Speaker 3: That's right, you got to get that in. There's Joe
- 25:13Speaker 3: Stevens also a big Cowboys fan as well. Twenty seven
- 25:16Speaker 3: minutes away from ten. All right, so again, the sports
- 25:19Speaker 3: Card show will be at ten o'clock tomorrow morning at
- 25:21Speaker 3: Nitral High School. The parade is set at two and
- 25:25Speaker 3: own Schmidt will be the Grand Marshall and then he's
- 25:28Speaker 3: gonna flip the coin and they'll get the Nitro youth
- 25:30Speaker 3: football season started at around three o'clock. So sorry, we
- 25:33Speaker 3: didn't have Orae Smidt on with us today, as they
- 25:35Speaker 3: said on the Brady Bunch, something suddenly came up. But
- 25:38Speaker 3: he will be in Nitro tomorrow, I'm sure. But Dave

- 25:46Speaker 3: dot com. This was a text for Owen. Unfortunately we
- 25:48Speaker 3: did not get Owen. I apologized, said, I watched, well,
- 25:52Speaker 3: I consider the greatest game in Mountaineer history, the triple
- 25:55Speaker 3: overtime game against Louisville, and got to say that in
- 25:57Speaker 3: those four years, you guys were something special, all of
- 26:00Speaker 3: you offense, defense and special teams, all of you. I
- 26:02Speaker 3: don't think that West Virginia will ever have another perfect
- 26:05Speaker 3: team cohesive wise, even though you guys didn't win every game,
- 26:08Speaker 3: all of you individually were a perfect combination. Yeah, it
- 26:11Speaker 3: was an exciting time for Mountain of Football. It really
- 26:14Speaker 3: really was. And hope springs eternal in the world of sports,
- 26:17Speaker 3: so hopefully they'll be able to recapture that. But that
- 26:19Speaker 3: was that was a very very special team. And look,
- 26:23Speaker 3: you know, we all know about the the teams of
- 26:25Speaker 3: Major Harris and what they did playing for a national
- 26:28Speaker 3: championship against Notre Dame. But as far as and you
- 26:31Speaker 3: can make these sports arguments all the time get people
- 26:34Speaker 3: all fired up, but I will say that as far
- 26:36Speaker 3: as having a great number of superstars at one time
- 26:41Speaker 3: on a team, it would be you'd be very very
- 26:43Speaker 3: hard pressed to not to try to compare any team
- 26:48Speaker 3: to those teams of the mid mid to late two
- 26:50Speaker 3: thousand WVU with with Pat White and Slayton and Owen
- 26:54Speaker 3: and of course I mean you would be it would
- 26:57Speaker 3: be very difficult to try to try to repeat that
- 27:01Speaker 3: at some point, but hopefully Mountain Air fans think that
- 27:03Speaker 3: they could. Twenty six minutes away from ten o'clock, I
- 27:06Speaker 3: will take a break. We are going to continue with

- 29:58Speaker 3: you told me, you said, because we've never met in person,
- 30:01Speaker 3: but you said, I listened to you all the time,
- 30:03Speaker 3: and that's why I listen to you all the time too,
- 30:05Speaker 3: because you do a lot of the commercials too.
- 30:06Speaker 14: Yeah, and do some commercials and fill in for Eddie
- 30:09Speaker 14: on the market update in the mornings on occasion, did
- 30:11Speaker 14: it this morning?
- 30:12Speaker 3: Okay, So tell us your story. Tell us why you
- 30:15Speaker 3: tell us why the company? Why are these things so
- 30:18Speaker 3: important to you?
- 30:19Speaker 14: Well, I think, first of all, in the business that
- 30:22Speaker 14: we're in, we've been fortunate, you know, I've done it
- 30:25Speaker 14: for forty years. Eddie, my partner for many of these years,
- 30:29Speaker 14: has done it for forty years as well, and we
- 30:31Speaker 14: figured out a long time ago that it was important
- 30:34Speaker 14: to give back to the community. And you know what
- 30:36Speaker 14: a better there's not a better thing to give to
- 30:38Speaker 14: than to a children's hospital. So we got involved with
- 30:42Speaker 14: helping raise money, you know for the WU Children's Hospital.
- 30:47Speaker 14: I think it opened in twenty twenty two, but we
- 30:49Speaker 14: were part of the fundraising committee here in Charleston, so
- 30:54Speaker 14: we worked on that for about a year year and
- 30:56Speaker 14: a half. So there are a lot of unsung heroes
- 30:58Speaker 14: that gave, you know, quite a bit of money, you
- 31:01Speaker 14: know to the children's hospital that go unnamed. You know,
- 31:04Speaker 14: we see the new name you know on the children's hospital,
- 31:07Speaker 14: but most people don't have the means to give that
- 31:08Speaker 14: kind of money. But really anything helped you know, ten dollars,
- 31:11Speaker 14: one hundred dollars, ten thousand dollars, whatever that might be.
- 31:15Speaker 14: Plus my wife who was also on the committee with me.
- 31:18Speaker 14: Her cousin had a son who was ten eleven years
- 31:21Speaker 14: old was diagnosed with a pretty severe form of cancer.
- 31:25Speaker 14: So that tugs at the heartstrings. And then you see
- 31:28Speaker 14: what WVU is trying to do up there, and it
- 31:31Speaker 14: means a lot to you, because you know, it means
- 31:33Speaker 14: a lot to parts of the other parts of the family.
- 31:36Speaker 14: So that's what made us want to get involved. We've
- 31:39Speaker 14: got kids of our own. In fact, we have our
- 31:41Speaker 14: two year old grandson, you know, at home with us
- 31:44Speaker 14: this this weekend. They live down in Atlanta, and you know,
- 31:48Speaker 14: we've all probably been to a football game in WVU
- 31:50Speaker 14: and we've seen one of those helicopters fly in and
- 31:52Speaker 14: land on top of the hospital. Yeah, especially when you
- 31:56Speaker 14: know probably something bad has maybe happened, But it's nice
- 31:59Speaker 14: that they've got a place to get to as quickly
- 32:01Speaker 14: as possible and be able to use that means to
- 32:04Speaker 14: be able to get there. So all of that was
- 32:06Speaker 14: important to get that type of facility opened in the
- 32:09Speaker 14: state because I think, quite frankly, the state really needed
- 32:11Speaker 14: something like that, and they've got some of the best
- 32:13Speaker 14: care up there for children that you'll find.
- 32:16Speaker 3: And there's so many, so many kids that are helped
- 32:20Speaker 3: here in the Kenaw Valley as well. I mean, it
- 32:22Speaker 3: didn't matter where they're from, because kids come from all
- 32:24Speaker 3: over the country for that facility, but specifically here in
- 32:27Speaker 3: the Charleston area, Huntington area, and in the entire valley.
- 32:30Speaker 3: There's a lot of kids from here that that are
- 32:33Speaker 3: served by the hospital.
- 32:34Speaker 14: They're not going to turn anybody away now. They can
- 32:36Speaker 14: get full up there and they may have to make
- 32:38Speaker 14: some other types of arrangements. I think it's a one
- 32:41Speaker 14: hundred and fifty bed facility, I think if I read right,
- 32:43Speaker 14: but they just opened up another floor that's you know,
- 32:47Speaker 14: more of a outpatient clinic. I think that's on the
- 32:50Speaker 14: top floor, so you can go in there and not
- 32:53Speaker 14: necessarily have to spend time at the hospital, but maybe
- 32:55Speaker 14: get a small ailment taken care of. They've got a
- 32:58Speaker 14: number of birthing facilities there, so it is a five star,
- 33:02Speaker 14: high quality facility that, like you say, any part of
- 33:06Speaker 14: the state, or really any part of surrounding states can
- 33:09Speaker 14: can take advantage of wvu's child Center up there and
- 33:13Speaker 14: for listeners.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Again, there's so many ways you can help. The easiest
- 33:17Speaker 3: way to do it is really just by texting, and
- 33:20Speaker 3: you can text the word WVU Kids to three four
- 33:23Speaker 3: nine eighty four and that'll give you a link that
- 33:26Speaker 3: you could donate via credit or debit card, PayPal, Apple,
- 33:29Speaker 3: pay Venmo, you can do it that way. You can
- 33:32Speaker 3: simply call UH and you can do that by calling
- 33:35Speaker 3: eight seven seven seven one nine fifty four thirty seven.
- 33:39Speaker 3: The phone line is a service of Best Virginia Heating
- 33:41Speaker 3: and Cooling eight seven seven seven one nine fifty four
- 33:44Speaker 3: to thirty seven, or you can text, as I mentioned earlier,
- 33:46Speaker 3: WVU Kids to three four nine eighty four, Panhandle Cleaning
- 33:50Speaker 3: and Restoration, UH sponsoring that. So there's so many different
- 33:52Speaker 3: ways that you can give involved. Because you though it's
- 33:56Speaker 3: take team, you do a lot in the community, not
- 33:59Speaker 3: just this, Yeah, I mean.
- 34:00Speaker 14: At the place that we were previously employed, I was
- 34:03Speaker 14: the branch director and part of the reason we did
- 34:06Speaker 14: this move a few years back is I didn't want
- 34:08Speaker 14: to be in the position of management anymore. And Eddie
- 34:11Speaker 14: and his brother Jim, they take care of that. But
- 34:14Speaker 14: we do get to ask a lot you know, to
- 34:16Speaker 14: make contributions. But we made a commitment several years ago
- 34:20Speaker 14: with the Make a Wish Foundation, and we have a
- 34:22Speaker 14: big campaign at the end of the year around christa
- 34:25Speaker 14: and we used to send out Christmas cards to all
- 34:26Speaker 14: our clients and then we started looking at the expense
- 34:29Speaker 14: of that and we thought, is that money that's really
- 34:31Speaker 14: going to good use. So we send out an email
- 34:34Speaker 14: to our clients that says, instead of doing a Christmas card,
- 34:37Speaker 14: We're going to make some kids wishes come true. We've
- 34:40Speaker 14: done some stuff with Memorial Sloan Kettering. Eddie's been involved
- 34:46Speaker 14: with Saint Jude I know very much in the past,
- 34:49Speaker 14: and you get asked to do a lot of things
- 34:50Speaker 14: and you just can't do everything. But we try to
- 34:53Speaker 14: pick some things that we think are important to people,
- 34:55Speaker 14: and we definitely just want to give back to the community.
- 34:57Speaker 3: That's what it is all about. Island Show on five
- 35:00Speaker 3: to eighty Live is bronchepired by Morgan and Morgan, America's
- 35:04Speaker 3: largest injury law firm. And again, there's just there's something
- 35:08Speaker 3: about you know, these what I love about the business
- 35:12Speaker 3: community here in West Virginia general. I don't care whether
- 35:14Speaker 3: it's Charleston hunting in Morgantown, Martinsburg, whatever. The amount of
- 35:19Speaker 3: people that just step up and the not just the owners,
- 35:22Speaker 3: not just the executives, but the employees that say, hey,
- 35:24Speaker 3: what can we do to help. In the first part
- 35:26Speaker 3: of the show, I interviewed Angil Gilliwater from the Cannaal Charles,
- 35:29Speaker 3: Newmaine Associations I do every Friday. You know, they had
- 35:32Speaker 3: storm damage up there and people came out and just
- 35:35Speaker 3: donated services. You know, people do this for a living.
- 35:38Speaker 3: Came out and started clearing trees and stuff like that.
- 35:40Speaker 3: And my point in saying that is to say that again,
- 35:43Speaker 3: that's what West Virginias do they do.
- 35:45Speaker 14: And you know, we're in in the business a given
- 35:47Speaker 14: investment advice and I mentioned this on Steve Shows earlier.
- 35:51Speaker 14: One thing a lot of people don't know is in
- 35:53Speaker 14: your qualified account, your four oh one k's your iras.
- 35:56Speaker 14: You know, once you reach the age it's now seventy three,
- 35:59Speaker 14: you have to take what's called a required minimum distribution.
- 36:02Speaker 14: So the government's going to make sure that you take
- 36:04Speaker 14: some money out of your qualified IRA four one K
- 36:07Speaker 14: account because they want the tax revenue when you take
- 36:11Speaker 14: that distribution, because it's taxes ordinary income. Now, I don't
- 36:14Speaker 14: give tax advice, but I do know this having done
- 36:16Speaker 14: this in the business. If you get to RMD age,
- 36:20Speaker 14: if you're RMD's thirty or forty thousand dollars, if you
- 36:23Speaker 14: give that directly to a charity, then it is you
- 36:28Speaker 14: don't have to pay any taxes on that. So you'd
- 36:30Speaker 14: be surprised the number of West Virginians. The maximum number
- 36:33Speaker 14: per person is one hundred and eleven thousand dollars, and
- 36:36Speaker 14: believe it or not, we've got some people that their
- 36:38Speaker 14: required minimum distribution is even higher than that. But you
- 36:41Speaker 14: can have us direct your required minimum distribution directly to
- 36:47Speaker 14: the children's hospital, your church, any charitable organization that falls
- 36:52Speaker 14: under the category of being a charity. You can give
- 36:55Speaker 14: that money to them, and you don't pay tax because
- 36:57Speaker 14: if you take it out and take it yourself, it's
- 36:59Speaker 14: taxed as ordinary income. So that's another way people can
- 37:02Speaker 14: give if they don't need that required minimum distribution whenever
- 37:06Speaker 14: they're forced to take it from their IRA account.
- 37:07Speaker 3: I want to give you a chance, because we do
- 37:09Speaker 3: this with all of the people that help us out
- 37:11Speaker 3: with our radiothon. I want to give you a chance
- 37:13Speaker 3: to talk about your business well, you know that our business.
- 37:16Speaker 14: You know, Eddie and I figured out a long time
- 37:18Speaker 14: ago that when you go to meetings in bigger cities,
- 37:22Speaker 14: they tell you, you know, don't take any clients that
- 37:24Speaker 14: have less than a million dollars and that type of thing.
- 37:26Speaker 14: That's not West Virginia, and that's not what we've done.
- 37:29Speaker 14: You know, A typical client for us is a guy
- 37:31Speaker 14: that's worked at the plan or at Verizon or AEP
- 37:34Speaker 14: something like that. They've worked their whole life, they've saved
- 37:37Speaker 14: four hundred thousand, six hundred thousand, eight hundred thousand, and
- 37:41Speaker 14: they need that money to roll to an IRA and
- 37:43Speaker 14: create some income for themselves. So retirement income planning is
- 37:47Speaker 14: a big specialty that we do, but we also have
- 37:49Speaker 14: clients that are just more interested in growth. So the
- 37:52Speaker 14: younger you are, the more aggressive we're going to be,
- 37:55Speaker 14: and the older we get, we're going to get a
- 37:56Speaker 14: little bit more conservative because we know that you're likely
- 37:59Speaker 14: want to produce some income. So that's primarily the bread
- 38:02Speaker 14: and butter of our busin. Don't get me wrong, we
- 38:04Speaker 14: have some twenty thirty million dollar accounts, but we also
- 38:07Speaker 14: have a lot of one hundred, two hundred thousand dollars
- 38:09Speaker 14: accounts and we treat them all the same because if
- 38:12Speaker 14: you have one hundred thousand dollars, you got ten million dollars.
- 38:15Speaker 14: That money is very important to you because that may
- 38:17Speaker 14: be all that you have, and we take that very seriously.
- 38:20Speaker 14: And we again we've both been doing it for forty years.
- 38:22Speaker 14: We enjoy doing it, and we're always looking for new opportunities.
- 38:26Speaker 3: All right, how can people get in touch with you
- 38:28Speaker 3: if they need one?
- 38:29Speaker 14: For me three oh four four four three four two
- 38:32Speaker 14: four seven or Jay Goulesby that's g oo lsb y
- 38:38Speaker 14: at Wealth Enhancement dot com. Or you can just google
- 38:42Speaker 14: Wealth Enhancement dot com and ask for your local office
- 38:45Speaker 14: and if you're in West Virginia, it's probably going to
- 38:47Speaker 14: show you our Charleston office and you can get in
- 38:49Speaker 14: touch with us that.
- 38:50Speaker 3: One well Charleston office.
- 38:52Speaker 14: We are in the United Bank Building, which is five
- 38:55Speaker 14: hundred Virginia Street East, and we're on the top floor.
- 38:57Speaker 14: We're sweet twelve hundred on the top the United Bank Building.
- 39:01Speaker 3: Well, thank you and your partners for everything that you've
- 39:03Speaker 3: done to make this radiothon such as huge success. Because
- 39:05Speaker 3: we started yesterday. We'll go through the close of Business
- 39:08Speaker 3: I guest today and it has been a huge success.
- 39:10Speaker 3: So we appreciate you for what you've done.
- 39:12Speaker 14: Thanks a lot, well and Dave, we appreciate very much
- 39:14Speaker 14: what the radio stations are doing. And you know WVU
- 39:17Speaker 14: Metro and you guys have done a lot and it
- 39:20Speaker 14: says a lot about what you guys want to do
- 39:21Speaker 14: as well that you're heading this campaign.
- 39:24Speaker 3: All right, Hey, Ryan, we got a little audio. A
- 39:27Speaker 3: man Logan Scott from a sister station, V one hundred,
- 39:30Speaker 3: had a chance to sit down with some of the
- 39:31Speaker 3: folks at WVU Medicine Children's gal Asano recently. Let's listen
- 39:35Speaker 3: into this.
- 39:36Speaker 15: It's the WVRC Media Cares for Kids radiothon joining me
- 39:41Speaker 15: is Amy Bush c AO at WVU Medicine Galasano Children's Now.
- 39:46Speaker 15: It's been quite a year for the hospital as its
- 39:48Speaker 15: transitioned to WVU Medicine Galasano Children's. Now, what does this
- 39:52Speaker 15: growth mean for patients across the state.
- 39:55Speaker 16: What a year. Indeed, last October when the official announcement
- 39:59Speaker 16: came out of mister Glisano's generous gift, extremely exciting and
- 40:03Speaker 16: grateful time. As we continue to grow, not only our
- 40:06Speaker 16: children's hospital, here in Morgantown, but bringing care closer to
- 40:10Speaker 16: the home communities with our regional hospital partners and the
- 40:15Speaker 16: clinics that we have across the state in the region,
- 40:19Speaker 16: so that we can truly continue to help build healthier futures.
- 40:22Speaker 16: We can make it easier on the families during stressful
- 40:26Speaker 16: times and also for things like wellness and preventative care
- 40:30Speaker 16: that we want to make sure that we have close
- 40:32Speaker 16: to home for the kids. So this gift just helps
- 40:35Speaker 16: us continue on our path to build those healthier futures.
- 40:39Speaker 15: Now, the team here is so dedicated to our kids
- 40:42Speaker 15: and expectant mothers. What is it about them that makes
- 40:45Speaker 15: WVU Medicine Galazano children so special?
- 40:48Speaker 5: Now?
- 40:48Speaker 16: I think the most important thing is our team works
- 40:52Speaker 16: who deliver care in a manner that they would want
- 40:55Speaker 16: for their own family and their own kids. We have
- 40:58Speaker 16: this saying every day it's for the kids, and we
- 41:01Speaker 16: just want to be that bright spot and helping the
- 41:04Speaker 16: kids and their families more expectant moms navigate during the
- 41:08Speaker 16: times where you know there's there's a new birth and
- 41:11Speaker 16: hopefully all as well, and during times when unexpected things
- 41:15Speaker 16: happen with illness, and so we have this saying we
- 41:18Speaker 16: care big, and we want to make sure that we're
- 41:20Speaker 16: taking care of those that entrust us with their care
- 41:23Speaker 16: as we would our own family.
- 41:24Speaker 15: The hospital may be in Morgantown, but WVU Medicine Galasano
- 41:28Speaker 15: Children's continues to grow across the state. Why is it
- 41:31Speaker 15: so important that the care reaches all of West Virginia
- 41:34Speaker 15: and the surrounding region.
- 41:35Speaker 16: What we know is when we can bring care closer
- 41:38Speaker 16: to home, especially focusing on preventive and wellness, but also
- 41:42Speaker 16: in times of illness, that when there's a need, it's
- 41:45Speaker 16: also a stress on the families too. And so to
- 41:48Speaker 16: the extent that we can help lessen the drive to
- 41:52Speaker 16: get the same level of care and expertise, that is
- 41:55Speaker 16: our goal, and so as we continue to expand our
- 41:58Speaker 16: regional hub at our larger system hospitals, we also want
- 42:02Speaker 16: to make sure we're providing that care at our community
- 42:04Speaker 16: hospitals so that access is there, it's the same it's
- 42:09Speaker 16: the same team, and it also helps lower that cost
- 42:12Speaker 16: of travel and a time and the other stressors that
- 42:15Speaker 16: families just don't need.
- 42:16Speaker 15: And what is the next step for WVU Medicine Galzano
- 42:20Speaker 15: Children's to continue to expand care.
- 42:22Speaker 16: We know, we've got some really exciting things in the
- 42:25Speaker 16: works right now. We are in the process of building
- 42:28Speaker 16: out our remaining seven shelled beds from when we initially opened,
- 42:32Speaker 16: so early winter we're going to be opening three additional
- 42:36Speaker 16: beds and our nicke and for additional beds in our
- 42:40Speaker 16: cardiac pedetric, contensive care, epilepsy monitoring area, so that's right here,
- 42:45Speaker 16: you know, on site, and you know this past January
- 42:48Speaker 16: we opened our new clinic on the tenth floor. We're
- 42:51Speaker 16: also working on efforts to expand things in our surgical
- 42:55Speaker 16: services service line and a lot of wonderful new faculty
- 43:00Speaker 16: joining our hospital that are very subspecialized, to new oncologists
- 43:05Speaker 16: that just recently joined our team that can help those
- 43:08Speaker 16: kids in need of things like neurooncology. And then we
- 43:11Speaker 16: continue to expand our presence with a new clinic that's
- 43:15Speaker 16: going to be coming the start of the new year
- 43:17Speaker 16: and Wheeling that'll have imaging and lab and urgent care,
- 43:20Speaker 16: pediatric specialty care. We continue to add to our services
- 43:24Speaker 16: and Charleston at Thomas Memorial Hospital and just numerous places
- 43:29Speaker 16: that we are working to continue to have growth for
- 43:33Speaker 16: the kids.
- 43:34Speaker 15: And for those listening at home. How do their donations
- 43:37Speaker 15: make a difference for children who are receiving.
- 43:40Speaker 16: Care, you know, So this is the fourth year of
- 43:42Speaker 16: our radioson and we're grateful to all of you as
- 43:44Speaker 16: our partners. And I would say every dollar helps, whether
- 43:48Speaker 16: it's a gas card, it's a meal card, it's additional
- 43:51Speaker 16: housing for families who have extended family who can't stay back,
- 43:55Speaker 16: whether it's that next piece of special equipment or technology,
- 43:59Speaker 16: or something specific like helping families with some other need
- 44:04Speaker 16: that they might have during you know, a child's cancer
- 44:06Speaker 16: treatment or whatever it might be. We put each of
- 44:09Speaker 16: these dollars that we raise to great use and we
- 44:12Speaker 16: just appreciate and you know, also things like childlife. We
- 44:15Speaker 16: want to make things as normal as possible when they're here.
- 44:18Speaker 16: So the events that we have for the kids, the
- 44:20Speaker 16: football parties, the trades at holiday time, you know, trigger
- 44:24Speaker 16: treat all the things go into making this hospital here
- 44:29Speaker 16: and around the state in the region what it is,
- 44:31Speaker 16: and all these dollars go toward that.
- 44:33Speaker 15: That's Amy Bush Cao at WVU Medicine, Galasano Children's This
- 44:39Speaker 15: is the WVRC Media Cares for Kids Radiothon.
- 44:42Speaker 3: And appreciate Logan Scott for her sister station here in Charleston, V.
- 44:45Speaker 3: One hundred for putting that piece together. A lot of
- 44:48Speaker 3: our folks are up there in Morgantown right now. I
- 44:50Speaker 3: know that Logan is there, Jenny from V one hundred,
- 44:53Speaker 3: crash from Superstar Country ninety six to one KWS. And
- 44:56Speaker 3: if you've seen any of the videos and pictures that
- 44:58Speaker 3: are floating around, I mean there are folks from all
- 45:01Speaker 3: of our stations. I mean from Beckley, from Elkins to
- 45:04Speaker 3: Martinsburg to Morgantown. They're all up there, and they're actually
- 45:07Speaker 3: at the hospital right now, and they're standing by taking
- 45:10Speaker 3: phone calls and answering texts and things of that nature. Now,
- 45:13Speaker 3: if you want to call, it's eight seven seven seven
- 45:16Speaker 3: one nine fifty four to thirty seven. Eight seven seven
- 45:19Speaker 3: seven one nine fifty four to thirty seven. That is
- 45:21Speaker 3: a service of Best Virginia Heating and Cooling. And that
- 45:23Speaker 3: text line from Panhandle Cleaning and Restoration text the word
- 45:26Speaker 3: at WVU Kids to three four nine eighty four WVU
- 45:30Speaker 3: Kids three four nine eighty four. That way, if you
- 45:33Speaker 3: do it that way, you get a link that you
- 45:35Speaker 3: could donate via credit or debit card, PayPal, Apple, pay
- 45:38Speaker 3: Venmo and more. We appreciate every one of you for
- 45:41Speaker 3: helping us out for our WVRC Media Cares, Radio thon
- 45:44Speaker 3: benefiting WVU Medicine, Gottless on New Children's nine at fifty three.
