- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: She defines superpowers as your innate ability to create impact.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: Your innate ability to create impact.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: You guys, if you out in here in a theme about today, it is, are you using your inner compass?
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: Are you taking time to understand yourself?
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: Are you talking to yourself up?
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the be it till you see it podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm also Logan, prize instructor, and fitness business coach.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: I've trained thousands of people around the world, and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: My friends, action brings clarity, and it's the antidote to fear.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: Each week my guests will bring bold, executable, intrinsic and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and be it till you see it.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's a practice, not a perfect, let's get started.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome back to the video till you see the interview recap of my co-hosts and life Brad and I are going to dig into the flourishing combo I have with Danielle George in our last episode if you haven't yet listened to that interview feel free to pause this now and go back and listen to that one and then come back and join us she's a fucking badass.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: She's pretty amazing.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: I really enjoyed that conversation.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I don't even know how she's been listening to our pod for a while and she pitched herself we talked to her you came up and talked to her.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: I want to be friends with her.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: I wish she lived closer.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: She's doing great work and also like I don't even know how she did what she did for a living because like as we talked about on the podcast.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: You're an environmental attorney which means your constantly fighting for the environment and the environment is constantly getting hotter and no shoes in environmental attorney.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pretty sure.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: No, she just described her work as an attorney, but it's possible.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_01]: You guys have that, you talk about it.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, she was an environmental policy world attorney.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like she was a fucking badass in DC.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I remember talking to her offline like, oh my God.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: So every day, you're trying to say the earth is hot.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm fighting for the earth.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: And every day, they're like, ugh, ugh, ugh, you know, like it's just, I don't know, like I would be a hard, I'd be a long, hard, but we need people like her in this world.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: Well, she quit.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: So she still fights for it.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: She still does her she still does her work.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: She didn't call it Brad makes it sound like she gave up.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: She did not.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: You know it.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: No, she has moved on to Viggin better.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: She had to leave D.C. for other reasons and it's pretty hard to fight for the environment on a world level outside of D.C.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, actually she said she's she's bringing a little bit of liberal vibes to Salt Lake City.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: We love that.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's really because we have a friend who's a federal defense attorney.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I like think about her going to work every day, right?
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: And like the federal defense attorney is like, what's the average win?
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: It's like two percent or something like that.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: And she's like four percent.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: And that's like fucking badass, right?
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: And you're just like, and she's like fighting for she.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's six.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's six.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: You're right.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: She got like defense attorney of the year.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: Hi, Amelia.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways, she like, I think about people like that and Danielle.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like,
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: Talk about having to figure out a different way of understanding how to celebrate your wins because like
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: It could take years to move, to get a date for something to be heard years.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: And we're over here being until we see it going, oh, that thing didn't happen yesterday.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I have to wait six months.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, especially with environmental law, I mean, you could be working on something for, you know, five to ten years before it actually comes together.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we'll get into her in a second and hold on just a year or clear.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: I actually have no idea what day Brad chooses and tell we open up the script unless I choose a day.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: And so yeah, I've no idea how to read and I feel like it's going to be weird.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: Cause today is November 6, 2025.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: And it's marooned without a compass day.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: which would, is a story of my life.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think I would be more of that compass for sure.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_00]: If I had my phone, it was working.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: We'd be okay.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: But to be told I have a charger ever on me, which means my compass would be leaving us quickly.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: This day is celebrated annually to put a spotlight on the direction of our lives or the lack of it.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, well, that's interesting.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: On this day we ask ourselves the hard question where is my life going am I happy in a rather literal sense maroon means being trapped alone in a place but in a mindful sense it describes the ecstatic gloom
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: And thank you brand for highlighting.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: I see excited gloom is a paradoxical or oxymoronic phrase that describes the feeling of being simultaneously overwhelmed with happiness and sadness is not a standard English idiom, but a descriptive pairing of two contradictory emotions.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: Wonderful.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like ecstatic gloom is how I live every day in this administration.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_00]: That comes with being lost in our life.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: So, extended gloom.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: So, in our have a little literal sense, maroon means being trapped alone in a place, but in a mindful sense that describes the extended gloom that comes from being lost in our own life.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_01]: Lies, right?
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: So, well, this is people who are not being in a tough way.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: See it, Brad.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm saying.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: These are scenarios.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: Do not need maroon.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: That's why today is exactly the right day to celebrate.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_01]: Because today is all about climbing up from the rock bottom of our lives and becoming our own compass.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: But that's what we do here.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: Happy to see you.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: Every single day at the be a pot.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I thought this was a great day.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: Because what this actually really made me think about was the reset button that COVID was.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, and if people took advantage of it, which I feel like, I mean, whether or not you took advantage of it, it became a very real, it was a mirror to our lives, each and every one of us had this, this really I'm sure we all have the internal conversation, this ecstatic gloom of like,
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, this is what my life is.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: Is this what I want my life to be?
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: Am I on my own?
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: And oh my god, I get to lay out the couch.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: That's the exact part.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: You have to have exotic part of the glue.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, I don't know how many people, like I think the, I think there was this weird perception that we can learn another language, but that never happened for us.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: People did make sourdough bread.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: No, we weren't those people.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: We weren't those people, but people did make sourdough bread.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: Our dog got walked, fucking 12, fucking miles a day.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: But I think that, you know, we're already five years past COVID and I think this is a good time to check in and be like, hey, I have this realization back then, you know, I made changes in my life.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but you don't have to go on an island and get a volleyball and name it will send you can just go use.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, I just studied the Hermit card today.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: It was my Hermit and my terror reading because my new hobby.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: And it's about taking time to be alone and do some self-reflection and some inner like looking in your inner wisdom.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: How poignant?
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: How poignant?
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: But not looking out because this is on November 6 and I'm doing it today.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: But it is poignant that we're recording this today.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: And one of the things you have to ask yourself is like, what does like self-reflection look like to do?
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: How do you understand what your inner guidance is?
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: And like, I really do think that a lot of us are very busy.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: And even some of us are really good at time by ourselves.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: And even time with our self
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: care, but how often are we actually using our inner wisdom versus our outer wisdom?
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: And this is a matter where like elevate members when they're like, okay, so what next?
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, you got to go inside and like juice that which it learned already.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, well, that's cool.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like it.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: I like a good compass.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how to use one, but I, I think about it all the time.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's okay.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: Don't download the free compass on your phone because there is already a compass on your
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's already a company in app.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: You don't need to get another app actually.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: That's and that is also pointy.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: You already have a compass.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's already inside you guys.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to blast through these because there's a whole list now.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to move real fast.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: We're ready.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: I am ready.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: Here's this happening in November.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: OPC is going to have a black Friday sale.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: Black Friday, everyone is sales.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: Only going to happen during the actual holiday weekend.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: We're not doing it before after.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: No, we're not those weirdos who start on November 1st.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so that's November, December, we are going to be on the road doing our winter tour, which tickets are already on sale.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, hopefully the tickets are sold out at this point.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: Let me tell you, however, we are recording this before they go on sale and people have already bought tickets.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure how, but they did.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: So that's how quick the tickets go.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: If you are trying to find out more about that, go to opc.me slash tour.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: Opc.me slash t-o-u-r. Just can we go back to November?
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: I just want to be very specific because I don't think it was very specific.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: We are only doing a Black Friday Cyber Monday for OPC.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: If you are, we're excited for a Profile Pilates discount.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: We are not doing that.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: We will have more information.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, if you are on our email list, you would already know this and have more information about what we are doing.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: So the next thing on our list is, in December, we're going to have a profitable quality sale.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a secret that we're giving to you here on the pod.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: You'll let listeners, if you ever wanted to try agency out,
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: for, you know, a short time.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: A little mini, like a little month.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, a month, but a little mini.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: No, I think it's going to be a month of age.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, we're doing something fun.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're doing something new and fun.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: We're trying out agency.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: So I know, you guys, I do know about this, and I forgot.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: While we're not doing a Black Friday ceremony for profitable Pilates, we're going to give y'all the opportunity to hop in for a brief time to get the know us to see his tires as it were.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: But stay tuned for the end of December after Christmas before the new year.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, guys, there's so much more.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: Ready?
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: Can I take over?
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you can.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you can.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: My birthday month, you're welcome to send gifts Pilates, you're an expo in Huntington Beach.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: Go to xxll.co slash Pilates journal.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: I am teaching some great workshops, a world premiere of a workshop, by the way,
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm super excited about that and some other good stuff.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: And then also in January, you want to make sure you're already on the wait list.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: So don't get on the wait list in January again.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, let's now for Cambodia because in January is the early bird discount.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: And only those on the wait list get that invite.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: In February the month of life.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: Go to crosinessretreats.com, do yourself on the wait list for camera.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: That's her bread.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, February, agency mini is happening in February.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: So you want to get on the wait list for that?
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: Do you hear how we have wait list?
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: Why do wait list?
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: Because you get all the good stuff, including somehow people buying tickets early for the tour.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: So p-r-f-i-t dot biz slash mini.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: That's profit without the O.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: Dot biz slash mini.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's three days of epic niss for your business.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: I promise you it will light a fire in your ass.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: You will not fill maroon without a compass.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: That is for fucking sure.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: And then in March, we are in Poland at the Contrology Poliz Conference with Karen Frischman, all the Contrology equipment.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be so fun that's xxll.co slash Poland.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: Also, March, we're in Brussels at L's studio.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: It's really amazing with Karen Frischman.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: And Brad, did I tell you Ignacio is going to be there?
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I thought it was McGill.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: Now, shh, that's for something else, I'm doing.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I know.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so excited.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's a vintage and friends program at L studio in Brussels.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: We are teaching different workshops in Poland and Brussels.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: So you can actually go to both or you can pick which we can you want, but it's Karen and I and I ask you is only in Poland, and I think it's just a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: And Brad's coming along and says hello dot co slash Brussels and then an April POT London.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, we're that's a lot guys.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: That's a whole lot.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: We're not doing anything else the rest of year.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: All right, but it's not true at all, but we're well, we're not doing a lot of international stuff besides the retreat.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, let's go into the question.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: We have to talk about Danielle still.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: What's the question?
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: Let's do it.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: So this is regarding swan dive on the one-to-chair at Denise Braun Stargazer on YouTube asks, what spring tension would you recommend for this movement?
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: Tips for swan dive on the one-to-chair on an exo-chair.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: What spring tension?
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: So an exo-chair is still a one-to-chair.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_00]: Here, it's, I, I appreciate that it has its own name because it is different than a traditional one to chair, but the thing that makes a different is the angle of the pedal, the weight of the chair.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure Ken will tell me a bunch of other things that are different and also, but to the eye and to the use and also the cactus thing on the back has four springs, but they have other things that have four, four hooks, I should say, two springs, four hooks.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're using my flashcards, you'll see that there's a how to use this deck card and that card actually will tell you that on a chair that has four hooks so that be an exo chair or anything else that has four hooks, I ignore the fourth hook on an exo chair unless you absolutely need it.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: and the person who edits arc flashcards actually only has an exo chair.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: So she edited these cards with the exo chair in mind.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: So without seeing you do this one, my guess is you should start with one spring on a two.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_00]: So the cactus on an XO chair has numbers, one spring on the two.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: Now, that being said, you could be funcised, and you need a one.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_00]: You could be an more of a body abundance, or a chest abundance body, so you have a little bit more weight going on the pedal.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: So then you might need a three.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_00]: You might be super advanced and only need a one.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_00]: You might be a beginner and a three.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: So the thing about the one-to-chair that people don't understand this goes with XO chair as well, is that the springs are like pirate rules.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: Guidelines.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: get to choose them.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: Do you remember what was the line in the pirate movie?
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: Their pirate rules are just like thoughts.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_00]: Things, do you know the line of the movie?
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: What are you talking about?
- 14:07[SPEAKER_00]: Johnny Depp's movie of the pirates.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_00]: They're like guidelines.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone knows what I'm talking about if they watch this movie.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to look at that later.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways, on the chair.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_00]: So another example on a one-to-chair is on the flashcards.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: I say that a pull-up is often done on a one.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_00]: One spring on a one and one spring on a three.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: That'd be fun.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's about the pirate rules.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: That's like guidelines.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_00]: Correct.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: That's how the window chair.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's part of the car like part life.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_00]: So that's exactly how I wanted to share works and an exo chair.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_00]: So if we ignore the fourth hook on the exo chair, then you have a one two and a three or what we'll often say it in classical polite a top and a bottom one is a bottom and a three is a top and then a middle spring is a two.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: If the traditional parlay on a pull up is a top and a bottom, so one and a three on an XO chair, that would be the guideline.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_00]: However, right now I'm doing pull up on a one top.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_00]: That's pretty impressive, Brad.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: You should be impressed.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's impressive.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so impressed.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: So Denise, one on top.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_00]: And then the other thing to go off up, guys, is is the spring working with you.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: Meaning, the spring should never be pushing you around nor you boss in it around.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's your dance partner.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_00]: So today it might be a two tomorrow might be a three.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: I know this is annoying because you just want to know, but that means that you're trying to be a perfectionist and not someone who is using their inner compass, that's all I have to say about that.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_00]: If you have questions, send them to be at pod.com slash questions, or you can text us at through an hour, 905, 5534, if it's international, you got to have a plus one.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_00]: All right, Brad, let's talk about Danielle.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: Or just use the website.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: Go to be at pod.com slash questions.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_01]: Stick around.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be right back.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to dig into all this amazing stuff we learned from Danielle
- 15:54[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, right.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about Danielle Droits.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: Danielle spent decades as a lawyer in the environmental policy world.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's where we learned it.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_01]: Leading teams and just...
- 16:04[SPEAKER_00]: Leading it.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: Leading teams and directing big projects.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: But after 25 years, she hit a wall and realized the traditional path of titles and skills was not bringing her fulfillment.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_01]: That turning point led her into coaching where she now helps mid to senior leaders uncover their superpowers, the natural strengths that create meaning, energy and impact, instead of piling on more certifications or chasing someone else's version of success, she shows people how to tap into what already is inside of them.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_00]: Sounds like a fun for our listeners need to hear that.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: Because I remember Erica Quest and I did a whole wealthy mindset weekend about like in Poster syndrome.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_00]: And one of the things, sign of you in Poster syndrome is that you continually acquire more sort of occasions.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_00]: And look, I think Danielle would agree with me.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_00]: Learning is cool.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_00]: You've got to keep learning.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_00]: But if you keep thinking that the next sort of the occasion is going to make you happy, that is the wrong motivation.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_00]: So she defines superpowers as your innate ability to create impact.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_00]: your innate ability to create impact.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: You guys, if you out in here in a theme about today, it is, are you using your inner compass?
- 17:14[SPEAKER_00]: Are you taking time to understand yourself?
- 17:15[SPEAKER_00]: Are you talking to yourself up?
- 17:17[SPEAKER_00]: She states that these are often hidden to you, and unless you've gone through the exercise and actually figuring out your superpowers, you do not likely know them.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_00]: This is so true when we coach people, the often thing is like, oh my god, that's amazing, right?
- 17:30[SPEAKER_00]: We talk about you, you're the only person who can,
- 17:31[SPEAKER_00]: Do what you do the way you do it and people like it's come so easy me.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's like yeah, it comes not easy to everyone else like no one else gets it and we do need a mirror.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: We need some way we need a Danielle to tell us like oh, this is the thing that you do really well also it's often the thing that people keep asking new questions about Just why I should go into being a skincare influencer.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: The thing that I thought was really neat about her talking about
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: urinate abilities is she said people will often describe their
- 18:05[SPEAKER_01]: quote unquote superpowers through her and she would disagree with them right so there they're like you know I'm really good at I don't know whatever organizing or they think it always revolves around work I think that's ultimately what our point was that they always apply it around work and she's saying that's not necessarily the case for example for her She said of course I was a competent attorney, but what I was really doing around the office was making sure that everybody was
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: feeling part of the team, really included in being, you know, like encouraging and uplifting.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: And she said, actually, I didn't ever peg that as my superpower until way after, I was always just like, actually, she said she literally thought it was her weakness.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm being too kind.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so kind.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: I need to be less kind.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_01]: I need to be more more more, more more.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and she said, that's because I was applying my kindness to my execution of my job.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: but I was imagining that that's a weakness when really it was my strength.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: And so it was really interesting.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: And she said they're often hidden to you.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: And she did talk a lot about energy and what makes you feel more feasts.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_00]: What likes you up?
- 19:17[SPEAKER_00]: She said a way to figure it out is you need to follow the energy because when engaged in activities aligned with where you're superpowers, the time flies by.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_00]: So episode 400, your genius down.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_00]: All turtively tasks that are draining to you indicate a lack of alignment.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_00]: If we go back to carrying walls and her like drain joy list, right?
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: Like so, and I think what happens is we're all like, oh my god, I need to get better at this.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like I would like often if you have like I need to be more detailed and I need to work and be more detailed, but being more detailed was like nail on a chalkboard.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_00]: Because I'm like, well, how much more detailed do I need to be like this seems quite obvious to me?
- 19:56[SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm just not a detailed person.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: Period.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_00]: Guess why ever on the team has detailed in their fucking strengths?
- 20:02[SPEAKER_00]: Because I don't.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have it.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_00]: I was my elbow if you heard that on the podcast.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways, it's fine.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: Don't worry.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't hit a funny bone.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_00]: But I just really like what she said about that.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a great way to think about things.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: I also love that she shared what she thought that she thought her strength was weakness.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think I think that's very relatable.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_00]: What did you love?
- 20:22[SPEAKER_01]: Just for those of you who are wondering, Carine's episode was number 27 and she had a follow up episode, which was episode 397.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_00]: Already that many episodes, but, oh, behind.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_00]: Like, which team?
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like that just happened.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_00]: Well, here we are.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: You know what?
- 20:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm clearly in my fucking, like, strategy telling it away here.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm not detailing anymore.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_00]: Because we add those FY apps.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what the numbers are anyway, but I just want to say, I'm clearly following my energy because time is fine, but I'm fine.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what I really loved is once she was talking about, we have this, I mean, all right, you all have heard me talk about strength fighters and clipped in strength and all that stuff like for years, for years, but she said we have this societally reinforced tendency to focus on our weaknesses.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my, my ex is biggest thing and we talked about this on the podcast that we used to do about dating my ex's biggest thing is like, you're not this you're not this you're not this and I'm like, okay, I got to be better those things and no no one liked me for those things so here we are yeah.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_01]: Also, that's so annoying.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know, like I think about it and she was laughing because she said we have kids and the kids, you know, if they came home from school with a D, I would be like, you need to be doing better, right, even if they're even if they were like, well, that's not my strength.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_01]: She still would say, no, you need to do better because I think that there's a time and a place for in in the typical world of learning the way that we educate people here in the United States.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: you know, it's based on test results.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: And now that may be changing over time, but our generation, that was all that matters was the grade at the end of it.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: So if you didn't get a grade, then you did not pass, right?
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: And so this pass fail concept, you know, it drives us to thinking that that applies in life.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: But applies at our job and applies in our personal lives and that's not actually the way that it functions in the rest of the world education is different than the rest of the world right and so what we do though is because that's how we were taught.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_01]: We take that and we apply it.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: And so we think that we need to be better.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_01]: We just need to be better at all the things, even that that's not the thing we should be focusing on.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_00]: All the time.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_01]: And so what do we do?
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: We get in our job and we're like, wow, I'm really not good at numbers.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_01]: I guess I need to be better at numbers.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_01]: So I'll go take a course at numbers and then you end up hating it.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, oh, I hate everything I'm doing now because I just have to do numbers.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: And instead, if we were focusing or leaning into our strengths,
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: And this is what Daniel was saying, you know, it will, it'll change our attitude around our, it'll change our, our vigor, our excitement, our, our mindset completely around the thing that we're doing and probably give us a whole lot more joy, she advised paying attention to what energizes you.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_01]: Right, and you know, there are there are cases where you have to, you know, do something that you don't want to do, but eventually you want to outsource those kinds of things, you know, and we talked about we do this on the retreat if you want to know why you should come on the retreat.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes he's hard doing things, but they think they have to do.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_00]: That's, yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_00]: And like, you, and, and outsourcing, like, people like outsourcing, they make expensive.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes you can just delete it.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: You don't even have to do it.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_00]: We live in a world with some amazing technology.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_00]: Robots, subscriptions.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you, if you hate the grocery store, you can put things on auto-ship.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's exactly right like what if you hate grocery shopping great put it on repeat.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: you don't have to actually go do any of that, you know, the way that we live tonight, it's amazing.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, you know, she said what energizes you, often correlates with the things that you're really good at, and you know, it gives you joy.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, that will change your excitement about life, you know, around the horn.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_00]: So, impolize, Jay always told us like, whatever you don't like, you have to do twice, because like, your body,
- 24:36[SPEAKER_00]: your body needs it.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_00]: This is very different than like how you do work and and your strengths, right?
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: So when it comes to like balancing your balances and today this isn't I don't know if that's anything to do with the episode, but I want to share this with you.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so today we had to do a frog in in class frog, which is your fucking favorite.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_00]: And then I hate everything about it and I don't think we were in frog one minute, but it felt like 17 years, but we were in pigeon, which probably is only one minute if I just was like, I think we're in pigeon for like three minutes it went by so if just flew by.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_00]: because I love pigeon so much and I just like I'm like pigeon feels so good on my body but frog doesn't feel good at all and if I could avoid if I was in charge we would never frog.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_00]: We would never frog.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_00]: Because it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's
- 25:42[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways, you had to pay him in any other guys as you because what doesn't energize me is frog and you Yeah, well, maybe in your body.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of like educating you need to be balancing things out or your body will break Yeah, I don't think you should here's a thing because there's a woman named Joanna who I'm trying to go on the pod guys I really am she's got the unlearned IG and we're we're close We got close we got we're getting closer stay tuned on that but she said at her TED talk She said like kids should fail at things
- 26:10[SPEAKER_00]: because they need to learn how to fail, right?
- 26:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like on a low level thing.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: However, like there's a difference between not trying and like not understanding and like not being a skill.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_00]: And I do agree, like we don't want kids to not know how to balance their budget.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_00]: So like you gotta learn how to add and subtract.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_00]: But like also,
- 26:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think what happens is we put up like you said already we put this pressure you that has to be your focus as opposed to like just get like decent at it and then and that way you can enjoy the English class that you love or the Shakespeare class that you love or whatever it is yeah I'm in.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's talk about those being action items.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_01]: What bold, executable intrinsic or targeted action items?
- 27:04[SPEAKER_01]: Can we take away from your combo with Danielle Droits?
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to jump in right away.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_01]: She emphasized that you don't need your entire day to be bold and cool fulfilling.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: This is interesting.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: All right, you don't need your entire day to be fulfilling.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: Even a relatively small portion dedicated to your strengths can significantly increase your job satisfaction.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_01]: What was really interesting is she is backing this up with statistics.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't just like this, this like thing that she's weighing in it here.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_01]: She said, hey, observe for the last, for at least one week, observe what activities give you energy aimed to dedicate at least 20% of your day or your week.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: to these energizing superpowers, act these superpower activities to significantly boost fulfillment.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_00]: So, two percent of your day is 30 minutes.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_00]: What's 20 percent of your day?
- 27:52[SPEAKER_00]: How many hour?
- 27:53[SPEAKER_00]: How many?
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we're to hold up.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_01]: So, 20 percent of eight hours would be one and a half hours.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_01]: So, if you were like in the zone as it were, or an hour and a half,
- 28:06[SPEAKER_00]: You're in your superpower for an hour and a half a day.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_01]: A day.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_00]: But you don't do all once.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_01]: You could do it now, but probably if you're like
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: If time has disappeared, you've cranked through an hour and a half and some of your strength.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, it's probably true, but also just for my perfectionist listening.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's okay.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to probably be okay if it's 30 minutes in the morning.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to be in 30 and 30 might be it might be teaching time for you because that's one things like, you know, go and that's okay.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: And that's good.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, like when I was working for somebody else and even now what I often like to do is I sit down for.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, a work block in my head.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, okay, this will be my morning work block before I get up and go to launch or whatever, and I usually try to give myself like a three hour like two to three hour like hard work block and not my hope is that in that time, I do hit the zone.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_01]: I mean that zone, you know, and if I can do two a day of these work blocks, I have had an effective day.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_01]: Now what often happens for me is I'll do probably one in the late morning and then I do another one at like nine o'clock at night.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_01]: Right, you feel like you're in your strength to Danielle's point, not just like those you feel like you're well, you're in your in your zone in the zone as it were time versus fine by yeah you're doing you're using your strength because time is going and you're not realizing it and you know it's okay you're you know you're you're effectively using your superpower when I'm doing Pilates time flies by oh my god of flies by I looked at the clock it was like 44 minutes.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, oh my god.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to do Pilates all day every day.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_00]: Apparently, only two and a half, that I'm like, I'm going to have significant pain in my life.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a safe and well, mine, because that's what I was saying.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_00]: But we're going to, that's my takeaway, because she said, just follow your energy.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's for your superpowers.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: No, we're talking about work when I'm talking about play.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_00]: But my job is Pilates.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but the the point is teaching.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I understand.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_00]: I understand.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_00]: I understand.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_01]: I make sure that we're clear work.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's been more time with myself.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_00]: She explained that confidence also doesn't come from faking it.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_00]: That's why we call the be it till you see a podcast.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_00]: That's why she's all, that's why she's on, but an activating what is true about you.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not built through the mindset rather is built through action and failure and success and getting you right back up.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_00]: So you're going to fail, you're going to reflect, you're going to correct and you're going to continue.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to do.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_00]: And you're going to get better at it.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to do it perfectly the first time.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you do not.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_00]: So follow your energy and if you're like, oh, that was a wrong energy.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_00]: Great.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_00]: Now tomorrow you won't follow that one.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_00]: You have a new inner compass that's going to tell you the right direction.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Leslie Logan.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: Well, before we sign off, I actually just got off a coaching call with a client and when we were talking about rolling out a program and she said, I just don't think I have, she said, what lights me up is educating educators.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: So she likes to teach teachers.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: we're talking about Pilates here and she said, I have my own clients and I do really enjoy teaching him, but what really likes me up is teaching teachers.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: She said the problem I have is that I can't stop teaching to take on more educating teachers.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_01]: She said she's feeling really stuck and what she said in her like off-hand, she was like, and to do like, you know, I got to roll it out and it's got to be perfect.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I got to do this thing and I got to do that and I was like,
- 31:33[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and we had a conversation about this idea of introducing a new product or introducing new service and it having to be perfect.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_01]: I said, it has taken us for our retreats, for example.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: The very first retreat, I worked on it for a year.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_01]: I put my heart and soul into organizing this thing, right?
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, we got this and we went and we executed it.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: And afterwards we were like,
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: we already have things we want to change.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, we did not really totally lock in the flow of events, the schedule of this retreat for like 10 retreats.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_01]: It was maybe after the 8th or 10th retreat where we were like, we're done swapping days around.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: We've decided these are the days of things running.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: These are one lunches to be, these are the activity blocks.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: This is the free time blocks.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like we never...
- 32:24[SPEAKER_00]: They're all by the way, they're amazing.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_01]: We just, we, that's not what I'm saying.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: But afterwards, we were like, we want to make another change.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_01]: We want to make another change.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: We were all really tired after this one experience because we pushed it too hard.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: Look at how do we tweak it?
- 32:39[SPEAKER_00]: I also got rid of February because we realized we just love October.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever, the point is it wasn't until us having done the experience like almost 10 times that we were like, oh my god, it's amazing.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_01]: We have it dialed in.
