- 0:01Speaker 1: Laura from the Sky New Center.
- 0:03Speaker 2: This is the Kenny Report.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Thanks for joining me here on the Kenny Report. With
- 0:09Speaker 3: six days to go in the US election, has Donald
- 0:12Speaker 3: Trump delivered the winning retort in the presidential campaign?
- 0:18Speaker 4: You can't be president if you hate the American people,
- 0:22Speaker 4: which I believe they do.
- 0:25Speaker 3: I'll cross to Laura Jays in the US, and I'll
- 0:27Speaker 3: speak with Alexander Downer here in Australia, as well as
- 0:30Speaker 3: talk to Miranda Devine in New York City about her
- 0:33Speaker 3: new book on the Biden family, business and political cover ups.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Back home, I'll have more on the Prime Minister's upgrade disaster.
- 0:41Speaker 1: He's still keeping.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Low, the questions mount and labor is desperately seeking to
- 0:46Speaker 3: smear others. Also more on the energy debate with Keith
- 0:50Speaker 3: Pitt plus Tim Blair and Mark Nicholson to make sense
- 0:53Speaker 3: of it all.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Let's get started.
- 0:58Speaker 3: When it comes to climate chair climate alarmism. It's almost
- 1:02Speaker 3: pointless fighting back where overwhelmed by it, aren't we? But
- 1:06Speaker 3: I'm going to keep pointing it out because you know,
- 1:09Speaker 3: facts matter.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Now.
- 1:10Speaker 3: People hate to challenge this stuff because then you're called
- 1:14Speaker 3: a climate deny and you're mocked and shunned and even abused.
- 1:19Speaker 1: So for the record, yes, the climate is changing.
- 1:22Speaker 3: It's always changing, it's always either warming or calling, and
- 1:26Speaker 3: there is evidence to suggest that, yes, we might be
- 1:29Speaker 3: in a warming phase. And yes, I accept the science
- 1:32Speaker 3: that human produced carbon emissions can exacerbate this warming. But
- 1:37Speaker 3: the extent to which this is happening is an ongoing
- 1:40Speaker 3: matter of scientific research, obviously, But the last thing we
- 1:44Speaker 3: need to do is exaggerate, catastrophize and frighten people, especially children.
- 1:51Speaker 3: For instance, why don't we see media and others, ever
- 1:55Speaker 3: point to some of the undeniable benefits of global warming,
- 1:59Speaker 3: which reduces the number of deaths due to cold every
- 2:01Speaker 3: year and extends growing seasons and agricultural production in colder climates.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Or how recent studies confirm that extra carbon dioxide in
- 2:12Speaker 3: the atmosphere is fueling a greening of the planet, which
- 2:16Speaker 3: is good for the environment obviously and agriculture of course. Anyway,
- 2:21Speaker 3: I mentioned this because the CSIRO here in Australia has
- 2:25Speaker 3: released its latest State of the Climate report, and as usual,
- 2:29Speaker 3: it's all couched as bad news.
- 2:33Speaker 5: And globally, twenty twenty three was the warmest year on record.
- 2:38Speaker 5: Australia is also continuing to warm in line with global trends.
- 2:45Speaker 5: The warming has led to an increase in the frequency
- 2:48Speaker 5: of extreme heat events.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Well, they're the scientists and that's what they say in
- 2:54Speaker 3: cahots with their comms people, I guess.
- 2:56Speaker 1: But the point is they don't give you all the information.
- 2:59Speaker 3: They don't share information that provides context or that might
- 3:03Speaker 3: feel proper informed scientific skepticism about their claims. For instance,
- 3:09Speaker 3: in that clip, you would have seen that the graphs
- 3:11Speaker 3: started from nineteen ten, and indeed, in the report itself
- 3:16Speaker 3: we are told that Australia's climate has warmed by an
- 3:19Speaker 3: average of one and a half degrees since national records
- 3:23Speaker 3: began in nineteen ten. Well, national records did not begin
- 3:28Speaker 3: in nineteen ten. In many places they go back many
- 3:33Speaker 3: decades earlier. But our Weather Bureau only uses the records
- 3:38Speaker 3: from nineteen ten onwards. It has its own scientific reasons
- 3:42Speaker 3: for doing this, consistency of measurement devices and the like,
- 3:47Speaker 3: but the fact remains it chooses to ignore earlier temperatures.
- 3:52Speaker 3: This means that one of the hottest and driest decades,
- 3:55Speaker 3: the eighteen nineties, is left out of the records.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Some would say conveniently, the.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Warming trend might seem much lower, or even disappear altogether
- 4:05Speaker 3: if earlier temperatures were included. For instance, as you can
- 4:09Speaker 3: see in this graph from the Institute of Public Affairs,
- 4:13Speaker 3: the temperature record in Darwin would look entirely different if
- 4:17Speaker 3: the early recording shown here in green were included. Similar
- 4:23Speaker 3: analysis canon has been compiled for many.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Other sites, But it gets worse.
- 4:27Speaker 3: What the Weather Bureau and the CSIRO also don't talk
- 4:31Speaker 3: about enough is that the records they use have been homogenized,
- 4:36Speaker 3: that is, they've been adjusted.
- 4:38Speaker 1: So many temperature recordings from the.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Early part of the twentieth century after nineteen ten have
- 4:44Speaker 3: been reduced, have been adjusted downwards because they reckon they
- 4:49Speaker 3: must have been improperly recorded. So many maximum temperature records
- 4:54Speaker 3: announced nay now these days are actually not the highest
- 4:59Speaker 3: temperature read from those locations. The new records are not
- 5:04Speaker 3: the highest temperatures recorded, but temperatures that are higher than
- 5:09Speaker 3: what the earlier readings have been reduced to.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Now, I'm not suggesting anything improper.
- 5:15Speaker 3: The scientific community justifies these adjustments, but I am suggesting
- 5:19Speaker 3: a lack of transparency and an unwillingness from the Weather
- 5:23Speaker 3: Bureau and the CSIRO to discuss these matters. It's important
- 5:28Speaker 3: information because it underscores the lack of certainty. The Weather
- 5:32Speaker 3: Bureau and the CSIRO prefer to keep it simple, certain
- 5:37Speaker 3: and scary. No, I haven't forgotten about airbus elbow. The
- 5:45Speaker 3: Labor Party is getting desperate now. Instead of answering questions,
- 5:48Speaker 3: instead of clearing the air, they're trying to smear Peter
- 5:52Speaker 3: Dutton and other Coalition MPs about other upgrades of flights
- 5:57Speaker 3: or flights on Gena Reinhardt's private Yet, anything they can
- 6:01Speaker 3: to divert attention from the Prime Minister is quantus freebies
- 6:06Speaker 3: and how and why he got them for private travel.
- 6:09Speaker 3: One Labor backbencher even tried to suggest that Dutton was
- 6:13Speaker 3: sucking on an exploding cigar.
- 6:16Speaker 6: Peter Dutton's credibility now lies in tatters.
- 6:19Speaker 1: He has just had his own Godwin Gretsch moment.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Mm there's some wishful thinking, there isn't there. The onus
- 6:27Speaker 3: clearly remains on Anthony Albanezi and.
- 6:31Speaker 7: We still don't frankly have a clear or I don't think,
- 6:33Speaker 7: honest answer from the Prime Minister. The cute form of
- 6:35Speaker 7: words coming out of the PMO and out of the
- 6:38Speaker 7: Prime Minister just don't add up to a credible response.
- 6:40Speaker 7: We've got a Prime Minister at the moment who can't
- 6:43Speaker 7: tell the truth to the Australian people. Not only is
- 6:45Speaker 7: he wrecking the economy, but he's also trashing his own credibility.
- 6:49Speaker 7: And this Prime Minister lurches from one disaster to the next.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Yeah, the Prime Minister and his office did no interviews
- 6:56Speaker 3: today and none yesterday, but they've made me he answering
- 7:00Speaker 3: various media questions away from the cameras and the microphones
- 7:04Speaker 3: and putting all the responses together. It seems that five
- 7:07Speaker 3: days into this controversy, the PM has finally declared that
- 7:12Speaker 3: neither he nor his office contacted anyone at Quantas to
- 7:17Speaker 3: ask for upgrades. Now that raises the obvious question about
- 7:21Speaker 3: how on earth these upgrades happened, and it means Albanezi
- 7:26Speaker 3: will be in big strife if any information or records
- 7:29Speaker 3: contradict that denial. And it also calls into question this
- 7:33Speaker 3: intriguing answer from his media conference in Newcastle on Tuesday.
- 7:38Speaker 8: Did you call Alan Joyce personally for these upgrades?
- 7:41Speaker 9: But the Idea Conas have a number in terms of
- 7:48Speaker 9: bookings that are private bookings.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Yes, so there was a phone number for private bookings. Apparently,
- 7:57Speaker 3: as I said last night, what was that number? Who
- 8:01Speaker 3: answered it? Which Quantus executive and who rang it? If
- 8:05Speaker 3: nobody made any requests, what was the point of mentioning
- 8:09Speaker 3: that number. We deserve to know what was that phone
- 8:13Speaker 3: number and whose phone did it reach? I mean it
- 8:18Speaker 3: surely wasn't this one, was it?
- 8:26Speaker 10: How about Control Central? This is age in eighty six.
- 8:30Speaker 1: No, that can't be it.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Someone would have seen Albo pulling off his shoe.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Maybe this was it. Yes, that man Robin or chump.
- 8:47Speaker 3: No, I can't think of anyone at Quantus by the
- 8:50Speaker 3: name of Robin.
- 8:51Speaker 11: Perhaps it was an old fashioned phone like this one.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Well, a big controversy deserves a big phone.
- 9:09Speaker 1: We just don't know.
- 9:11Speaker 3: But it was Alban Easy who mentioned a phone number.
- 9:14Speaker 3: There was them PM himself, the Prime Minister of this country,
- 9:18Speaker 3: who said there were calls about private bookings.
- 9:21Speaker 1: So he really should tell us more.
- 9:24Speaker 3: You see, he's not fronted the media since his train
- 9:28Speaker 3: wreck media conference in Newcastle on Tuesday. In fact, that
- 9:31Speaker 3: afternoon he flew to aubury Wodonga on the New South
- 9:35Speaker 3: Wales Victoria border with his Climate and Energy Minister Chris
- 9:39Speaker 3: Bowen to announce a project with a pet food company.
- 9:42Speaker 1: The local media.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Was asked the day before by the Prime Minister's office
- 9:46Speaker 3: about local issues they might want to ask the PM about,
- 9:50Speaker 3: but on the day there was no press conference from
- 9:53Speaker 3: the Prime Minister. He just flew into town, did a
- 9:56Speaker 3: few events, posed for pictures and refused to to any
- 10:00Speaker 3: questions from the local media, who weren't impressed by their treatment.
- 10:05Speaker 3: The Border Mail Xavier Mardling wrote a scathing column. If
- 10:09Speaker 3: mister Albanezi isn't capable of deviating from the script of
- 10:13Speaker 3: sprooking the government's investment at a pet food factory, he
- 10:17Speaker 3: might as well have flown straight back into his Canmebra
- 10:19Speaker 3: bubble from Newcastle and avoided the border altogether.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Yeah, the Prime Minister is running scared. He can't do
- 10:30Speaker 1: that much longer. The energy.
- 10:35Speaker 3: But the energy debate is continuing and I had to
- 10:38Speaker 3: laugh at a story that's been running on the ABC
- 10:41Speaker 3: and in the nine newspapers. The reports have been aimed
- 10:44Speaker 3: at undermining the coalition's nuclear energy policy. The Coalition has
- 10:49Speaker 3: cited the huge and industrialized Canadian province of Ontario as
- 10:54Speaker 3: a good example of where nuclear power provides affordable, reliable,
- 10:59Speaker 3: and emissions very electricity. But the ABC and the nine
- 11:03Speaker 3: newspapers have been busy quoting a Canadian expert who highlights
- 11:07Speaker 3: the role of electricity subsidies in that province totally more
- 11:11Speaker 3: than seven billion dollars a year. This is supposed to
- 11:15Speaker 3: prove that nuclear is uneconomic. I guess as if a
- 11:19Speaker 3: province would be deliberately harming itself in its economy.
- 11:23Speaker 1: And the reason this makes me.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Laugh is because our current electricity market in Australia, we
- 11:29Speaker 3: are in the middle of this supposed transition to renewables. Well,
- 11:33Speaker 3: it's driven primarily by subsidies. If subsidies in Ontario are
- 11:39Speaker 3: a warning against nuclear energy, why aren't subsidies here warning
- 11:44Speaker 3: against our own national renewable energy self harm. The Center
- 11:49Speaker 3: for Independent Studies has totaled the federal government's renewable subsidies
- 11:53Speaker 3: over the past decade at more than twenty nine billion dollars.
- 11:58Speaker 3: That's almost three billion dollars a year. And that doesn't
- 12:02Speaker 3: include state government subsidies, and it doesn't include huge government
- 12:07Speaker 3: expenses like the fifteen or twenty billion dollars they're spending
- 12:11Speaker 3: on snowy two point zero. All the hundreds of millions
- 12:15Speaker 3: of dollars being paid to coal fired power stations to
- 12:18Speaker 3: stay open because renewables aren't doing the job, and it
- 12:23Speaker 3: doesn't count the three point five billion dollars the alban
- 12:26Speaker 3: Easy government is spending this year on electricity bill rebates
- 12:31Speaker 3: subsidies to help households and artificially keep inflation down because
- 12:37Speaker 3: its renewables plus storage model is in a shambles. So
- 12:41Speaker 3: a modest estimate for this year alone would place our
- 12:45Speaker 3: electricity subsidies at something close to ten billion dollars. So, yes,
- 12:52Speaker 3: renewable energy zealots, talk to us about subsidies. Remove them
- 12:58Speaker 3: all and remove the ban on nuclear power and let's
- 13:02Speaker 3: see what the market might deliver. Let's bring in a
- 13:08Speaker 3: national ZMP. Keith Pitt joining us live from Sydney tonight.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Good to talk to you, Keith. Let's go to Albow first.
- 13:14Speaker 3: I'll get to energy in a moment, but let's go.
- 13:16Speaker 1: To Albo and the flights. Well, what do you see
- 13:19Speaker 1: is the key question for him to answer.
- 13:24Speaker 12: Chris, I saw your intro and you missed one the
- 13:26Speaker 12: code of silence from Get Smart. Maybe the call was
- 13:29Speaker 12: made inside of that, but mate, you've been around a
- 13:32Speaker 12: while when MUD's flying and MUD's been slung, everyone gets sprayed.
- 13:37Speaker 12: And in politics, I think everyone's going to take a
- 13:39Speaker 12: hit here and there'll be lots of people declaring upgrades
- 13:42Speaker 12: I think over coming days and weeks. I don't think
- 13:45Speaker 12: I've got any from what I remember, and I've got
- 13:46Speaker 12: hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of flights. And the Australian
- 13:50Speaker 12: people they'll work this out. They'll decide whether they are
- 13:53Speaker 12: happy with the Prime Minister or not when the election
- 13:55Speaker 12: comes around.
- 13:55Speaker 1: They won't forget. Yeah, well, I.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Think the damage has been done to him already, and
- 13:59Speaker 3: you're right, politicians, and there will be some who have
- 14:02Speaker 3: got snouts in the trough.
- 14:03Speaker 1: We all know that. And they're trying to smear.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Peter Dutton because he's got a lift from a private
- 14:08Speaker 3: jet from Gina Ryan Harper. That's all declared and that's upfront,
- 14:12Speaker 3: and that's the whole point. But what smells about this
- 14:15Speaker 3: is a transport minister getting upgrades to private, private to
- 14:21Speaker 3: travel and of course the fact that he's asked for
- 14:24Speaker 3: it now he said now through these very not in
- 14:27Speaker 3: front of the cameras, but through lots of answers from
- 14:29Speaker 3: him and his office to various media organizations. It seems
- 14:32Speaker 3: like he has denied at any time, either he or
- 14:36Speaker 3: his office requesting an upgrade from anyone at Quantas.
- 14:39Speaker 1: So it's pretty it's a pretty complete denial, now, isn't it.
- 14:43Speaker 3: So do you just move on unless someone comes up
- 14:46Speaker 3: with something to contradict.
- 14:47Speaker 12: That, Well, under the ministerial standards when you're in government,
- 14:53Speaker 12: that's clearly something you can't do now. Whether that's retrospective
- 14:57Speaker 12: and there's something that can happen ten years down the trail,
- 15:00Speaker 12: the short answer is I don't know, but I think
- 15:04Speaker 12: you know. This one stinks and it's just another in
- 15:07Speaker 12: the long list of challenges that the federal labor government
- 15:10Speaker 12: have in terms of their reputation. And never forget, Chris,
- 15:13Speaker 12: the important stuff that's going on. No one's talking about
- 15:16Speaker 12: that at all, cost of living, power prices, people who
- 15:18Speaker 12: can't get a house, people who can't afford a house.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Well, I want to get to a power price.
- 15:23Speaker 12: Looking about in these debates, you heard what I.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Had to say about subsidies and how our system is
- 15:28Speaker 3: replete with them now driven trying to drive the switch
- 15:31Speaker 3: to renewables.
- 15:32Speaker 1: There's been reports out.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Today showing that wholesale electricity prices went up dramatically in winter.
- 15:39Speaker 3: That could push up power prices the latest the next
- 15:42Speaker 3: round of power price increases. I note that those power
- 15:47Speaker 3: price increases were steepest in South Australia.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Yet again, this is the state with.
- 15:52Speaker 3: The highest penetration of renewables. When are we going to
- 15:56Speaker 3: actually admit that putting more and more renewables in is
- 15:59Speaker 3: not driving prices down.
- 16:04Speaker 12: Well, firstly, that's not at the mission Chris Barnes ever
- 16:06Speaker 12: going to make. But it's obvious that these are the facts.
- 16:10Speaker 12: Where there is more intermittent wind and solar, the price
- 16:12Speaker 12: is higher, it's not cheaper, and the wholesale price is
- 16:15Speaker 12: much higher, and that will flow on to retail prices
- 16:19Speaker 12: next year. And I did the same sums in terms
- 16:21Speaker 12: of subsidy, I got twenty seven and a half billion,
- 16:24Speaker 12: So that's about right. I can build a lot of
- 16:27Speaker 12: power stations with twenty seven billion dollars. Chris, I think
- 16:30Speaker 12: they should set one up for me and I'll go
- 16:32Speaker 12: and do it.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just incredible the amount of money. This is
- 16:35Speaker 1: the thing. There's a lot of focus on the cost.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Of nuclear, which there should be, but no one's costing
- 16:40Speaker 3: what we're doing at the moment, which is just you.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Know, eyewatering. Thanks for joining us, Keith, Happy Halloween, well
- 16:48Speaker 1: great William.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Thanks Keith Pitt there in Sydney, and he's of course
- 16:51Speaker 3: a Queensland MP.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I want to go to the US now, and.
- 16:54Speaker 3: There's only six ky these days to go now until
- 16:56Speaker 3: the US election. Donald Trump was in Wisconsin and yesterday
- 17:01Speaker 3: out time, and he's been taking full advantage of Joe
- 17:04Speaker 3: Biden's dopey remark about Trump supporters being garbage.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Of course, I have a listen to this.
- 17:11Speaker 4: And I have to begin by saying, two hundred and
- 17:14Speaker 4: fifty million Americans are not garbage. This week, Kamala has
- 17:27Speaker 4: been comparing her political opponents to the most evil mass murderers.
- 17:32Speaker 13: In history, and now, speaking on a call for her
- 17:36Speaker 13: campaign last night, crooked Joe Biden finally said what he
- 17:40Speaker 13: and Kamala really think of our supporters.
- 17:42Speaker 4: He called them garbage.
- 17:44Speaker 1: No way, no way. Yeah.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Well, the sitting president, sleepy Joe Biden, he's hardly figured
- 17:54Speaker 3: in this campaign, and his intervention is exactly the sort
- 17:57Speaker 3: of hope that Kamala Harris doesn't need. Laura Jays is
- 18:01Speaker 3: taking it all in from Michigan.
- 18:04Speaker 14: Yeah, that's writing hasn't featured much in this campaign. It's
- 18:07Speaker 14: like they just threw a Machingle's kind of like that
- 18:09Speaker 14: family member that's a strange Christmas comes around and think, oh,
- 18:13Speaker 14: you know, he's been in the sin bin for a
- 18:16Speaker 14: couple of Christmases. Now let's just invite him. He can't
- 18:18Speaker 14: be that bad. And then he's unleash and he does
- 18:23Speaker 14: something like that. It does not help the Karmala campaign
- 18:26Speaker 14: at all. And in these dying days of the campaign,
- 18:29Speaker 14: these kinds of things really matter because it is so tight.
- 18:32Speaker 14: The polls are showing it is so tight, and the
- 18:35Speaker 14: momentum has really shifted this week between Trump and Carmela
- 18:39Speaker 14: as well. You know you shop with those comments at
- 18:41Speaker 14: Madison Square Garden that was from that warm up comedian
- 18:44Speaker 14: that was for days and days ads made all the
- 18:49Speaker 14: talkback TV and radio stations. We're talking about it. Then
- 18:52Speaker 14: enter Joe Biden. So look, it just stools the momentum
- 18:56Speaker 14: a bit, and it just means that everyone gets gets
- 18:59Speaker 14: a bit off message for a couple of hours or
- 19:01Speaker 14: a couple of days. And I'm sure for the Kamala
- 19:04Speaker 14: campaign it is annoying.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Well, I think it's more than annoying as devastating to
- 19:09Speaker 3: a degree, isn't it, because it confirms a preconception about
- 19:12Speaker 3: the Democrats looking down, sneering down at ordinary voters, especially
- 19:17Speaker 3: Trump voters. Of course, Hillary Clinton had the same problem.
- 19:20Speaker 3: And Donald Trump. You know, he's just across Lake Michigan
- 19:23Speaker 3: from you in nearby Wisconsin campaigning, as is Kamala Harris.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Of course, he's the master about turning this sort of
- 19:30Speaker 3: a gaff into a big positive for him. He was
- 19:32Speaker 3: out and about in a dump truck today, climbs up
- 19:35Speaker 3: into a dump trunk, a garbage truck, focusing on the
- 19:39Speaker 3: garbage metaphor, of course, and hitting back. Even he hopped
- 19:43Speaker 3: up into this truck. As we can see, he had
- 19:44Speaker 3: a few words to say too. Have a listen, how
- 19:47Speaker 3: do you.
- 19:48Speaker 6: Like my garbage truck?
- 19:49Speaker 4: This truck is an honor of Kamala and Joe Bacon.
- 19:54Speaker 1: So he's got the pictures there, Laura.
- 19:56Speaker 3: The message is strong, and here's the message in his speech.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Listen to what he says. The Democrats are saying to Americans.
- 20:04Speaker 4: My response to Joe and Kamala is very simple. You
- 20:08Speaker 4: can't lead America if you don't love Americans.
- 20:12Speaker 15: It's true.
- 20:17Speaker 4: You can't be president if you hate the American people,
- 20:20Speaker 4: which I believe they do.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Well. Laura, how does Kamala Harris count that?
- 20:26Speaker 14: Yeah, well, look the thing is, it wasn't her, It
- 20:31Speaker 14: was Joe Biden. And it reminds everyone, I guess in
- 20:35Speaker 14: some ways why Joe Biden was rolled and Kamala Harris
- 20:39Speaker 14: is now the presidential candidate. So perhaps they can turn
- 20:43Speaker 14: that into a positive somehow on that. But it does
- 20:46Speaker 14: bring back those memories of Hillary. The deplorables lost her
- 20:50Speaker 14: the campaign, they lost her the presidency, and that comment
- 20:54Speaker 14: was just diabolical in places like where I am here
- 20:58Speaker 14: in the Blue Wall in Detroit, in the state of Michigan.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Do they give it?
- 21:03Speaker 14: You know, They've got to now judge whether they give
- 21:06Speaker 14: it a lot of credence, whether they kind of try
- 21:09Speaker 14: and bury it or they just try and ignore it
- 21:12Speaker 14: all together.
- 21:12Speaker 1: But it does go to what.
- 21:15Speaker 14: People in this state. People in this state of Michigan
- 21:18Speaker 14: and other states like it, think that the Democrats think
- 21:21Speaker 14: of them and that is their elite, that they somehow
- 21:24Speaker 14: think they're better than them. And it matters. Back in
- 21:27Speaker 14: twenty sixteen, Hillary lost this state to Donald Trump by
- 21:33Speaker 14: something like ten thousand votes. There's not much in it.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Yeah, it's so important, is it.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Wisconsin and Michigan both lost to Donald Trump by Hillary Clinton.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Hillary Clinton famously didn't campaign in Michigan. She ignored it
- 21:46Speaker 3: and lost it. Now you're there now in Detroit. Obviously
- 21:48Speaker 3: Joe Biden wanted back in twenty twenty. It's crucial for
- 21:53Speaker 3: Kamala Harris to hang on to Michigan now as industrial
- 21:57Speaker 3: industrial state, a lot of workers, a lot of factory work.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Also a lot of Muslim migrants.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Who might be swayed by what's happening in the Middle
- 22:05Speaker 3: East of the moment. You've been stampling opinion around Detroit.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Tell us what you've picked up from voters today.
- 22:13Speaker 14: Yeah, let me just give you a bit of a flavor.
- 22:15Speaker 14: It's only fifteen Electoral College votes. Where right on the
- 22:18Speaker 14: border with Canada here Detroit, you know, the motor City.
- 22:21Speaker 14: The other major factor here is a city just about
- 22:24Speaker 14: half an hour from here.
- 22:25Speaker 15: It's called Dearborn.
- 22:26Speaker 14: It's one hundred and ten thousand people in that city,
- 22:29Speaker 14: and it is mostly Muslim Arab population.
- 22:33Speaker 15: And this is.
- 22:33Speaker 14: The biggest Muslim Arab city in the whole of the
- 22:36Speaker 14: United States got the biggest mosque, and it has quite
- 22:39Speaker 14: a bit of sway. Those voters are usually Democrat this
- 22:44Speaker 14: time around. What's happened between the last election and now
- 22:48Speaker 14: is the Gaza war has broken out. Kamala Harris is
- 22:51Speaker 14: coppying a lot of heat for that because she's part
- 22:54Speaker 14: of the current administration. Those people do not think this
- 22:58Speaker 14: administration has done enough. What it's done is it's splitting
- 23:01Speaker 14: the vote many ways. Democrats won't even endorse Kamala Harris.
- 23:07Speaker 14: Some are looking to Trump, some won't vote at all,
- 23:10Speaker 14: and others are looking for a third party candidate who
- 23:13Speaker 14: happens to be a Jewish Green. So that's what you're
- 23:16Speaker 14: dealing with here. And when it comes down to just
- 23:18Speaker 14: maybe a thousand and ten twenty thousand votes these that
- 23:24Speaker 14: city matters so much.
- 23:26Speaker 1: And not only that.
- 23:27Speaker 14: What's happened, Chris is the Democrats who don't want to
- 23:31Speaker 14: endorse Karmala don't want a campaign. It's taken a lot
- 23:35Speaker 14: of that leg workout. So they're not door knocking, they're
- 23:37Speaker 14: not just not voting, they're not rallying their community.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Yeah, that really hurts.
- 23:42Speaker 14: I think Kamala Harris is going to have a real
- 23:44Speaker 14: problem here, and they're looking to Trump, not from what
- 23:47Speaker 14: he said, but what they think he might do. There's
- 23:50Speaker 14: a lot of people I spoke today but believe his like, oh,
- 23:53Speaker 14: he'll end the war, and I can't believe he's going
- 23:55Speaker 14: to stand by and let Israel do this. He'll stand
- 23:59Speaker 14: up world leaders. So that's the kind of view that
- 24:02Speaker 14: you're getting here, and it is so desparate. It's split
- 24:05Speaker 14: that city.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Absolutely fascinating stuff, Laura, And as you say, Kamala Harris
- 24:10Speaker 3: really needs Michigan and Wisconsin. We'll see how it plays out.
- 24:14Speaker 3: To catch up with you again, thanks for joining us.
- 24:16Speaker 14: Thanks for having me, Chreez. Good to see you.
- 24:19Speaker 3: Fascinating time saying. Now coming up Tim Blair and Mark Nicholson.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Plenty to get through with them, including a woman.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Who lost her arm to her dog. She's not cranky
- 24:29Speaker 1: at him.
- 24:35Speaker 6: You know.
- 24:35Speaker 3: This is the part of the week where we solve
- 24:37Speaker 3: all the big problems of the world with Tim Blair
- 24:39Speaker 3: from the Daily Telegraph joining us from the Wimmera in
- 24:41Speaker 3: Western Victoria and Martin Nicholson from step Mate Studios joining
- 24:45Speaker 3: us from the Heart of the Beast in Melbourne. Good
- 24:48Speaker 3: to talk to both of you, I want to start
- 24:50Speaker 3: in Melbourne, and I dip some lid to my colleague
- 24:53Speaker 3: Damon Johnson at The Australian for persisting with this, trying
- 24:56Speaker 3: to get this information through FOI applications from the victory
- 25:00Speaker 3: Ian government. And it was how that they were working
- 25:03Speaker 3: out how to deal with the Victorian population during the pandemic.
- 25:07Speaker 1: One of the categories that.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Has been censored all this while we now know it
- 25:12Speaker 3: was the category of people they called the pig headed
- 25:15Speaker 3: know it alls who they couldn't really convince to buckle
- 25:19Speaker 3: under to the curfuse and lockdowns. Mark, were you one
- 25:23Speaker 3: of these pig headed know it alls?
- 25:26Speaker 1: I wish, I wish.
- 25:29Speaker 6: I like to think of myself as a blake that
- 25:31Speaker 6: wouldn't listen to the government and he's his own man.
- 25:33Speaker 6: But all they needed to do was say do you
- 25:34Speaker 6: want to have a beer, and I was straight back
- 25:37Speaker 6: into compliance mode. That's what suck, That's what hurt most
- 25:40Speaker 6: about this is that I wasn't in category one. I
- 25:42Speaker 6: was definitely in category one or two, not category three.
- 25:45Speaker 6: The pig headed know it all. Give me, give me
- 25:48Speaker 6: a ves research.
- 25:49Speaker 3: Give me a vaccine mandate so I can get to
- 25:51Speaker 3: the pub please you were one of that models.
- 25:54Speaker 1: That's all. It was one beer, That's all I needed
- 25:56Speaker 1: to do. What a shallow threat.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Because the joke on the politics here, especially the Andrews
- 26:01Speaker 3: Labor government tim is that the pig headed know it
- 26:04Speaker 3: alls didn't know it all.
- 26:05Speaker 1: They were right. The government was all over the shop.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 26:10Speaker 16: And although although like Mark, I'm not in the category,
- 26:14Speaker 16: I do wish to be and I am going to
- 26:16Speaker 16: buy the T shirt. I think I think Melbourne will
- 26:18Speaker 16: look a lot better with half the population wandering around
- 26:21Speaker 16: with pig headed know it all on their T shirts or.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Just a T shirt that says what was the thing?
- 26:26Speaker 2: Category three?
- 26:27Speaker 3: Was that it?
- 26:27Speaker 16: Or subcy I reckon Category three? I reckon we should
- 26:32Speaker 16: all sign up to that.
- 26:33Speaker 2: And yeah they did get a lot of it, right.
- 26:36Speaker 3: What about one that just says I'm still suspicious about
- 26:39Speaker 3: the bike crash?
- 26:44Speaker 16: What about what about one that just says vote step.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Yes, you've got to think that one through. But you
- 26:53Speaker 3: were on the side of the step there. That's a
- 26:55Speaker 3: bit cruel.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Now.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Staying in Melbourne, the lead singer of Radiohead was confronted
- 27:01Speaker 3: from his concert in Melbourne last night by you know,
- 27:04Speaker 3: an anti Israel pro Palestinian protester and it ended the concert.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Have a look.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Stage, I say what you want to say, don't stay there, Kilo.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Everyone come there and let's see it.
- 27:28Speaker 15: Well, everybody's name.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Come on, we're.
- 27:34Speaker 9: Sighted Gaza.
- 27:46Speaker 3: Oh he goes, now now to him, people are there
- 27:48Speaker 3: to see music, not to hear politics from this guy.
- 27:50Speaker 1: So he walks off stage. I'm surprised they didn't all
- 27:53Speaker 1: turn around unlynched the protester.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Yeah, but like, doesn't anyone understand venues anymore?
- 27:59Speaker 16: I mean, you go to an art gallery and if
- 28:02Speaker 16: you're upset about climate change, he throw soup at a painting.
- 28:05Speaker 16: You go to a radio Head concert and it turns
- 28:08Speaker 16: into a forum about the war in Gaza.
- 28:11Speaker 2: What's going to happen this cricket season? Seriously? Football match
- 28:14Speaker 2: is going to break out. Nothing's making a lot of
- 28:18Speaker 2: logical sense of this.
- 28:19Speaker 3: Well, I suppose you could flip this radio head on
- 28:22Speaker 3: it's around and go to a Palestinian protest mark and
- 28:26Speaker 3: start singing I'm a creep.
- 28:30Speaker 6: That's true, that's true, Karma police. I'm sure, as you said,
- 28:33Speaker 6: that guy probably got lynched as well. It's karma police.
- 28:36Speaker 6: It a Radiohead tune, But you know what I really
- 28:38Speaker 6: like about what Tom Yorke did there Fellas, and it
- 28:41Speaker 6: sort of speaks volumes here. He gave the bloke a
- 28:44Speaker 6: platform to say something there, he actually gave him the stage.
- 28:48Speaker 6: Didn't take it up, didn't take it. All of this
- 28:49Speaker 6: is about disruption, that's all what it is exactly. And
- 28:52Speaker 6: these people are doing the same thing with buskers down
- 28:54Speaker 6: in the city of Melbourne. They're doing the same thing.
- 28:55Speaker 6: They're saying, oh, your silence is definiting, but they've got
- 28:58Speaker 6: nothing to say themselves.
- 28:59Speaker 1: He says, he you take your mind, you're doing the
- 29:00Speaker 1: right thing. You say, yeah, have you say? They move on,
- 29:03Speaker 1: but they haven't got the balls to do that. Just pathetic.
- 29:05Speaker 3: Now, we often talk about animal husbandry seemingly in this segment,
- 29:10Speaker 3: and I.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Want to know.
- 29:11Speaker 3: I'm not a great dog lover, as you know, but
- 29:14Speaker 3: I know a lot of dog lovers get cranky at
- 29:16Speaker 3: their dogs because they dig up the back lawn, or
- 29:18Speaker 3: poop in the wrong place, or chew up the kid's shoes.
- 29:21Speaker 3: I want to show you a woman who's got a
- 29:23Speaker 3: real cause to have grievance with her dog.
- 29:26Speaker 17: For seven years, Buddy was his owner's faithful friend until
- 29:30Speaker 17: the day, he snapped and almost killed her.
- 29:33Speaker 18: As traumatic obviously in the fact that I lost my dog,
- 29:38Speaker 18: lost my mom.
- 29:39Speaker 17: Ande Marie claims it was the sound of someone bashing
- 29:42Speaker 17: on her front door that's set off the mixed breed ridgeback.
- 29:45Speaker 18: He loaned through the air and I had enough time
- 29:48Speaker 18: to spin around and grab him, and he just went
- 29:50Speaker 18: into a frenzy and he pulled back three times and
- 29:53Speaker 18: off goes arm. I was a little bit relieved once
- 29:56Speaker 18: I come off, because it was, you know, less pain.
- 29:58Speaker 15: Obviously losing leaters of blood by this second.
- 30:02Speaker 18: I was like, oh, this is going to be a
- 30:03Speaker 18: great and we're n I loan.
- 30:05Speaker 17: Somehow, Anne Marie managed to call triple zero rush to
- 30:08Speaker 17: Townsville University Hospital for emergency surgery.
- 30:12Speaker 18: Dad told me that I had actually died twice during
- 30:15Speaker 18: the operation.
- 30:16Speaker 17: Back at her home, the dog was shot dead by
- 30:19Speaker 17: police bullet holes, a grizzly reminder of the bloodshed.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Do you blame buddy, No, No, I don't, not one bed.
- 30:26Speaker 18: He's an animal.
- 30:28Speaker 1: Jeepers, creepers.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Thank god they got rid of the dog, tim but
- 30:31Speaker 3: she lost her arm. Imagine if some kid had knocked
- 30:34Speaker 3: on the door trying to sell guide biscuits, girl guide
- 30:38Speaker 3: biscuits or something.
- 30:40Speaker 16: Yes, that story. There's so many more questions to be asked,
- 30:44Speaker 16: you know. But also hats off to the victim there
- 30:49Speaker 16: for an incredibly stoic attitude for losing a limb. I mean,
- 30:54Speaker 16: letting the dog off as a kind of a source
- 30:56Speaker 16: of her pain is one thing. But that's when you've got,
- 31:00Speaker 16: I guess, the stoicism to recognize that losing an arm
- 31:03Speaker 16: actually ends the pain or reduces it.
- 31:06Speaker 2: That's a one tough human being.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Good lord, tough all right, and tougher right. They worries
- 31:10Speaker 1: me these dogs around. That's one lesson than I suppose.
- 31:13Speaker 1: But an arm's gone with it. Shocking stuff.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Now, I want to go to US politics because it's
- 31:17Speaker 3: getting increasingly bizarre.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Mark.
- 31:19Speaker 3: We all know about the pain that Joe Biden has
- 31:22Speaker 3: called Kamala Harris by calling Trumps supporters.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Garbage, but have a look at this.
- 31:27Speaker 3: There's a Halloween start out the White House with a
- 31:29Speaker 3: little kid dressed up as a turkey. Joe Biden's biting
- 31:32Speaker 3: the kid, biting the kid's leg. Now, I would have
- 31:35Speaker 3: thought Tablo Harris is pretty happy, happy about this, because
- 31:38Speaker 3: as long as he's got something in his mouth.
- 31:39Speaker 1: He's not saying the wrong thing. Here is biting another name.
- 31:49Speaker 6: Have a look at it. It's so it's pretty clear
- 31:52Speaker 6: at this point. I think he's deliberately sabotaging the Harris campaign.
- 31:56Speaker 1: And I love it.
- 31:57Speaker 6: I absolutely love it. Like he's coming out and calling
- 31:59Speaker 6: Trump supporters garbage in direct contrast to what she's pretending
- 32:02Speaker 6: to be. It's you know, Trump actually put it best
- 32:05Speaker 6: the other day. He was like, you know, I hated
- 32:07Speaker 6: him when he was running, but now that he's gone
- 32:11Speaker 6: and I love him, and I'm kind of feeling the same.
- 32:13Speaker 6: Biting kids, not sniffing kids, saying the wrong thing. It's
- 32:17Speaker 6: just it's brilliant. It's classic Biden. And he's done wonders
- 32:20Speaker 6: for the Trump campaign.
- 32:21Speaker 3: He sure has, and tim What I love about it, too,
- 32:24Speaker 3: is the way he and the White House now twist
- 32:27Speaker 3: themselves in knots trying to say what he said.
- 32:30Speaker 1: They're trying to pretend he didn't say it.
- 32:33Speaker 16: And they're coming out with a possessive apostrophe in a
- 32:35Speaker 16: transcript and pointing at that instead of.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Like she's just showing the video what he says. You know,
- 32:40Speaker 2: your garbage.
- 32:41Speaker 16: By the way, Joe Biden in his retirement when he
- 32:44Speaker 16: eventually does make it through the January. You don't want
- 32:46Speaker 16: to try that if he comes out here in Townsville,
- 32:49Speaker 16: you know, like the jacks will turn up and shoot
- 32:51Speaker 16: you for that sort of cape. Look at him, Look
- 32:53Speaker 16: at him going to bite. That's bullet worthy behavior.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Up north, they'll tell you what creepers.
- 33:01Speaker 6: Now.
- 33:02Speaker 3: I just wanted to get back to domestic politics quickly
- 33:06Speaker 3: because I showed at the top of the show that
- 33:07Speaker 3: we sold the riddle about Elbow's hotline to Quantas.
- 33:12Speaker 10: Here it is, how about control santral This is age
- 33:25Speaker 10: and eighty six.
- 33:27Speaker 3: As easy as that would mark you just click off
- 33:29Speaker 3: your shoe and call out and joyce.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Mate.
- 33:32Speaker 6: Anyone would think you're in the step MAT's rider's room
- 33:35Speaker 6: at this point.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Mate.
- 33:35Speaker 6: We've we literally add this this discussion just the other day.
- 33:39Speaker 1: It's terrifying.
- 33:40Speaker 6: I don't know, remember there's a bug in there.
- 33:43Speaker 19: Yeah.
- 33:43Speaker 6: Look, my thought is it's the minutia of how we
- 33:47Speaker 6: got these upgrades and whatever. It's kind of beyond the
- 33:50Speaker 6: beyond the point for me. It's just between the house,
- 33:53Speaker 6: these upgrades. This you know, this obsession with sitting at
- 33:56Speaker 6: the front end of the plane. It really just tells
- 33:58Speaker 6: you that Anthony alpineasy thinks is better than you and
- 34:01Speaker 6: wants to make sure that you know that.
- 34:03Speaker 1: And that's what it speaks.
- 34:04Speaker 6: That's where it really speaks to I think all of
- 34:07Speaker 6: this stuff, and it's always just shocks me just how
- 34:10Speaker 6: low the bar is for these people to sell out
- 34:12Speaker 6: their integrity. It stinks, like quantus domestic business absolutely stinks.
- 34:16Speaker 6: It's not worth putting your career on it and throwing
- 34:19Speaker 6: your whole integrity on the line. It absolutely stinks. I
- 34:22Speaker 6: guess the international upgrades are nice, but I can't believe
- 34:25Speaker 6: this is what they're willing to do.
- 34:27Speaker 3: I think you've just killed off your next Upbrade there, Mark,
- 34:30Speaker 3: brilliantly done.
- 34:31Speaker 1: I'll see you down the back of the plane. Thanks
- 34:34Speaker 1: for joining us, Mark Giglson and Tim Blair. Catch up
- 34:38Speaker 1: with you next week.
- 34:38Speaker 3: I have a great weekend, a great Halloween. We've got
- 34:41Speaker 3: to take a break. On the other side of that,
- 34:43Speaker 3: we're going to go back to the US. I'm going
- 34:44Speaker 3: to catch up Miranda with Miranda Divine in New York City.
- 34:46Speaker 3: Out here new book on the Biden family, business and
- 34:50Speaker 3: political cover ups. Our good friend and stellar journalist Miranda
- 34:58Speaker 3: Devine launched her latest book in New York City yesterday
- 35:01Speaker 3: and a famous guest turned up, the former key Donald
- 35:05Speaker 3: Trump political advisor, Steve Bannon, fresh from serving a jail
- 35:09Speaker 3: term for contempt of Congress. Miranda's latest book is The
- 35:13Speaker 3: Big Guy. How a President and his son sold out America.
- 35:18Speaker 3: And this was all happening as the Big Guy. President
- 35:20Speaker 3: Joe Biden had entered the political campaign in a big
- 35:24Speaker 3: way with his garbage comment, so very much in a
- 35:27Speaker 3: way that's been unhelpful for his vice president Kamala Harris.
- 35:33Speaker 15: Yes, he sure has.
- 35:34Speaker 8: He seems too at sort of inopportune moments of the
- 35:38Speaker 8: campaign to just decide to bigfoot her.
- 35:41Speaker 15: I don't think he.
- 35:42Speaker 8: Likes being relegated to a big player in the Democrat
- 35:47Speaker 8: sort of story at the moment.
- 35:49Speaker 1: She still is.
- 35:50Speaker 15: President until January twenty, twenty twenty five.
- 35:53Speaker 8: And I think he finds it quite insulting that Kamala
- 35:58Speaker 8: Harris is, by necessity trying to distance herself from him.
- 36:03Speaker 3: Now, nobody has delved into the Biden family its business dealings,
- 36:07Speaker 3: it's political missteps.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Better than you.
- 36:09Speaker 3: Your book, The Laptop from Hell, was a best seller.
- 36:13Speaker 3: Of course, this is a story he help break on
- 36:15Speaker 3: the eve of the last election. We know that the
- 36:18Speaker 3: mainstream media and the digital tech giants buried the story,
- 36:21Speaker 3: and the security agencies were of course complicit in burying
- 36:25Speaker 3: this story that we now know was true. Tell us
- 36:28Speaker 3: about this latest book, The Big Guy, and what it
- 36:31Speaker 3: reveals about the serving president and his family.
- 36:38Speaker 15: Look, you set it up perfectly there, Chris.
- 36:40Speaker 8: It's really a story of the cover up of the
- 36:42Speaker 8: original tale of corruption, which I told in Laptop from Hell.
- 36:47Speaker 15: And I think, just like Watergate, the tale of the
- 36:51Speaker 15: cover up.
- 36:51Speaker 8: Is a more important story, and it is about the CIA,
- 36:55Speaker 8: the FBI, the State Department, the Department of Justice, all
- 37:00Speaker 8: the sort of elements of the national security state in
- 37:03Speaker 8: the United States, all conspiring to protect Joe Biden, his
- 37:09Speaker 8: son Hunter, his brother Jim Biden from the consequences of
- 37:13Speaker 8: their reckless greed, and also to make sure that in
- 37:19Speaker 8: the twenty twenty election that the story that we were
- 37:22Speaker 8: at the New York Post uncovering three weeks before the election,
- 37:26Speaker 8: that that would not see the light of day, that
- 37:28Speaker 8: that would be censored by big tech, which is where.
- 37:31Speaker 15: We get most of our traction these days, and to.
- 37:35Speaker 8: Really ensure that their candidate, their favored candidate, Joe Biden
- 37:41Speaker 8: won and not Donald Trump. American foreign policy is dictated
- 37:45Speaker 8: by this group, and certainly under Barack Obama and under
- 37:50Speaker 8: Joe Biden, both those presidents were really the puppets of
- 37:55Speaker 8: what the Obama people used to call the blob. The
- 38:00Speaker 8: Trump people call the deep state, this sort of unaccountable
- 38:03Speaker 8: cabal that want to have a president that they can
- 38:08Speaker 8: control the foreign policy agenda for. And under Donald Trump,
- 38:12Speaker 8: you just saw was he is uncontrollable. He's been uncontrollable
- 38:16Speaker 8: since he was a child. That's both a blessing and
- 38:19Speaker 8: a curse. But in the foreign policy sphere when he
- 38:23Speaker 8: was president, it was actually a blessing because he just
- 38:26Speaker 8: approached every issue on first principles, like he did as
- 38:31Speaker 8: a property developer in.
- 38:33Speaker 15: Queens, New York, just using logic and common sense.
- 38:37Speaker 8: So he saw a problem and he just figured out
- 38:40Speaker 8: the best way, most effective way to fix it.
- 38:43Speaker 15: Putin did not invade his neighbors.
- 38:46Speaker 8: Like he did under Obama and like he did under Biden.
- 38:49Speaker 8: We saw Iran was broken and on its knees. Under
- 38:53Speaker 8: Trump was not able to pay its proxies to attack
- 38:56Speaker 8: Israel like they did last October seven. Last year, there
- 39:01Speaker 8: was the glimmerings of Middle East peace with the Abraham Accords,
- 39:05Speaker 8: and everyone's forgotten about ISIS, but that was a huge
- 39:08Speaker 8: deal back in the twenty sixteen and Donald Trump managed
- 39:14Speaker 8: to vanquish ISIS.
- 39:15Speaker 15: So all of these things he did on his.
- 39:18Speaker 8: Own, without following the BLOB's agenda, And that's why they
- 39:22Speaker 8: regard him as an existential threat, not to democracy or
- 39:26Speaker 8: to America, like we're told, but to their power and
- 39:29Speaker 8: control over the presidency. And I honestly think if you're
- 39:34Speaker 8: sitting in Australia.
- 39:35Speaker 15: Or anywhere else in the world, you don't.
- 39:37Speaker 8: Really want these people controlling foreign policy because they've not
- 39:40Speaker 8: done a good job.
- 39:41Speaker 15: And you can see now under Joe Biden the world
- 39:44Speaker 15: is on fire.
- 39:46Speaker 3: Yeah, there's no doubt the world was a safer place
- 39:48Speaker 3: under Donald Trump first time around, and I think you're
- 39:51Speaker 3: right it would be again if he returns to the
- 39:53Speaker 3: White House, whereas if Kamala Harris is elected, it'll be
- 39:56Speaker 3: the same people in charge. When it comes to the
- 39:59Speaker 3: business feelings of the Biden family. There's so much information
- 40:02Speaker 3: from that laptop from Hell that's been in the public
- 40:06Speaker 3: domain that hasn't got enough attention. For instance, Joe Biden
- 40:09Speaker 3: said repeatedly he had no visibility, no involvement in his
- 40:14Speaker 3: son's business dealings, and then a voicemail like this came
- 40:18Speaker 3: up and put paid to that.
- 40:20Speaker 19: Kep powers Man, that's fifteen.
- 40:25Speaker 1: On Wednesday.
- 40:26Speaker 19: A chance to be called. That's why I thought the
- 40:31Speaker 19: article at least depend on online. It's to be prints
- 40:34Speaker 19: one time as could and you can clear and anyway
- 40:41Speaker 19: he'd get a chance to be called.
- 40:42Speaker 3: I love it, Miranda. The evidence is so clear of
- 40:46Speaker 3: the involvement. Now you've delved into this, You've spoken about
- 40:49Speaker 3: a coast to coast in the US. Tell us, how
- 40:52Speaker 3: has the Biden family become so rich because it hasn't
- 40:55Speaker 3: come from political salaries?
- 40:59Speaker 8: No, And look, you know, Joe Biden has been a
- 41:03Speaker 8: past master. From the beginning of his political career. There
- 41:08Speaker 8: were many donors that wanted to get favors from the
- 41:12Speaker 8: junior senator from Delaware, and that from his earlier stage
- 41:17Speaker 8: as a senator gave Joe Biden access to enormous amounts
- 41:21Speaker 8: of money and also just kind of quid pro quo
- 41:25Speaker 8: favors which he spread around his family and Hunter Biden
- 41:30Speaker 8: his wayward crackhead or Formert crackhead.
- 41:32Speaker 1: Have to be fair.
- 41:33Speaker 15: I think he's clean at the moment.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Son.
- 41:36Speaker 8: You know, he never had a job that his father
- 41:39Speaker 8: hadn't organized for him through his donors at inflated salaries
- 41:44Speaker 8: that you know, Hunter would pay off various family bills
- 41:48Speaker 8: like tuition bills for himself and his brother, maintenance on.
- 41:51Speaker 15: Joe's fast estate there.
- 41:54Speaker 8: But when Joe became vice president, he saw an opportunity
- 41:58Speaker 8: to expand this sort of local grift internationally, and Barack
- 42:05Speaker 8: Obama gave him carriage for very corrupt countries around the world,
- 42:09Speaker 8: whether it be China, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Kazakhshtan, all these places.
- 42:15Speaker 15: His son Hunter swooped in behind his father and.
- 42:19Speaker 8: Was given millions of dollars basically in return for favors
- 42:25Speaker 8: from his.
- 42:25Speaker 15: Father, which we don't know if strawdinary.
- 42:27Speaker 8: Many of those favors actually materialized, but certainly it was
- 42:31Speaker 8: the illusion of favors.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Fantastic stuff.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Miranda hot on the back of the laptop from Hell
- 42:38Speaker 3: the Big Guy, how a president and his son sold
- 42:41Speaker 3: out America. Congratulations Miranda on the book and thanks for
- 42:45Speaker 3: catching up with us.
- 42:46Speaker 15: Thanks Chris.
- 42:48Speaker 3: She's just killing it in the US is Miranda. Now
- 42:52Speaker 3: after the break, I have more on the Prime Minister's
- 42:54Speaker 3: upgrade disaster.
- 42:55Speaker 1: He's still keeping low. Alexander Downer joins me.
- 43:03Speaker 3: Let's get back to the issue of our Prime minister,
- 43:05Speaker 3: those quantus upgrades and that phone number he's been in
- 43:09Speaker 3: hiding again today, refusing to front the cameras and answer
- 43:12Speaker 3: simple questions. I've got a former Foreign Minister, Alexander Downer's
- 43:16Speaker 3: thoughts on just how much strife the PM is in.
- 43:21Speaker 20: I think it's doing him a lot of personal damage
- 43:24Speaker 20: from which I doubt that he will recover. I mean,
- 43:28Speaker 20: the trouble is, he hasn't had a simple and clear
- 43:31Speaker 20: explanation on day one. He's allowed this to drag on
- 43:36Speaker 20: and different stories are coming out of his word salad.
- 43:40Speaker 20: So I think it's doing him huge damage with the community, really,
- 43:45Speaker 20: and I mean I.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Think he'll really struggle lever to recover from this.
- 43:50Speaker 3: Yeah, there's an attempt to sort of spread muck everywhere
- 43:53Speaker 3: I suppose to try and get him through it, and
- 43:56Speaker 3: pointing at all politicians and the chairman's lounge and upgrades. Now,
- 44:00Speaker 3: obviously you were in the chairman's lounges when I worked
- 44:03Speaker 3: for you as Foreign Minister. I've been in the chairman's
- 44:05Speaker 3: louns with you. Most politicians go through the lounges of
- 44:09Speaker 3: the airlines.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Especially the Quantas chairman's lounges. The critical point here, there's
- 44:14Speaker 1: two critical.
- 44:14Speaker 3: Points, really is that the allegation that he asked for
- 44:18Speaker 3: upgrades for his own personal travel.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Whether that was directly or by his staff, we don't know.
- 44:24Speaker 3: But secondly, then he's so cozy with Quantas and then
- 44:27Speaker 3: he knocks back his government knocks back the request from
- 44:30Speaker 3: Qatar Airways.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Are they the two critical points you think?
- 44:36Speaker 18: I do?
- 44:37Speaker 20: I think this whole question of who asked whom for
- 44:41Speaker 20: the upgrades, how that happened is very murky. I mean,
- 44:45Speaker 20: he wouldn't answer the question straight out, had he contacted
- 44:49Speaker 20: Alan Joyce and asked for an upgrade or not? Now
- 44:53Speaker 20: seems to be indicating that he personally didn't, But did
- 44:57Speaker 20: someone in his staff? And how did it all happened?
- 45:00Speaker 20: And he did have quite a few upgrades on private
- 45:03Speaker 20: travel because he wouldn't have needed upgrades on business travel,
- 45:08Speaker 20: on portfolio travel, because he would have gone business class
- 45:12Speaker 20: anyway on that sort of travel. So it's all very murky.
- 45:18Speaker 2: This is my point.
- 45:20Speaker 20: He's not clear about it all, and I mean the
- 45:24Speaker 20: Chairman's lounger. All MP's past and present have been members
- 45:30Speaker 20: of the Chairman's Lounge. The great advantage of it is
- 45:33Speaker 20: it gives you much needed privacy.
- 45:36Speaker 6: That's really the big.
- 45:38Speaker 20: Advantage of it. So and Virgin have some equivalent. I've
- 45:43Speaker 20: forgotten what it's called, but they have an equivalent as well.
- 45:46Speaker 3: Now let's switch you to US politics, because next time
- 45:49Speaker 3: we speak to you, the result will be in It's
- 45:52Speaker 3: been amazing to watch Joe Biden's intervention and calling Trump
- 45:55Speaker 3: supporters garbage. That's been devastating for the Democrat campaign the
- 46:00Speaker 3: dying days. But what I think is brilliant, of course,
- 46:03Speaker 3: is the way Donald Trump seizes on that. And listening
- 46:06Speaker 3: to this comment from Donald Trump today, it's just the
- 46:09Speaker 3: perfect pitch, the perfect use of this Joe Biden misstep.
- 46:14Speaker 4: My response to Joe and Kamala is very simple. You
- 46:18Speaker 4: can't lead America if you don't love Americans.
- 46:22Speaker 2: It's true.
- 46:26Speaker 4: You can't be president if you hate the American people,
- 46:30Speaker 4: which I believe they do.
- 46:33Speaker 1: Love him or hate him. He really gets that stuff,
- 46:36Speaker 1: doesn't he.
- 46:39Speaker 20: He's so nailed it. With those comments that will really
- 46:42Speaker 20: shift boats. I'm sorry to say, from Kamala Harris's point
- 46:47Speaker 20: of view, and for those of you who are watching
- 46:50Speaker 20: this program who had, you know, lifelong and enthusiastic supporters
- 46:55Speaker 20: of the Democrats, I think this is pretty much this
- 46:59Speaker 20: comment by Joe Biden has pretty much buried Kamala Harris's chances.
- 47:04Speaker 1: I mean, I also saw.
- 47:08Speaker 20: Visial of Donald Trump in a garbage truck, driving a
- 47:12Speaker 20: garbage truck. There's an American expression, if something goes terribly wrong,
- 47:17Speaker 20: it's a dumpster fire, and this really is a dumpster fire.
- 47:21Speaker 20: This is absolutely devastating in just a few days from
- 47:26Speaker 20: the election.
- 47:27Speaker 1: Hard yeah cover from this.
- 47:28Speaker 3: I think it is absolutely a dumpster fire, and Donald
- 47:32Speaker 3: Trump has lashed onto it and amplified it brilliantly, as
- 47:35Speaker 3: you allude to with the dumpster trucker and the like.
- 47:38Speaker 3: So so you're predicting a Trump victory, I mean, the
- 47:41Speaker 3: Poles would tend to suggest that we expect the Poles
- 47:44Speaker 3: usually to underestimate the Republican vote, but it looks like
- 47:48Speaker 3: he's actually killing it in most of the swing.
- 47:50Speaker 1: States, right.
- 47:54Speaker 20: I'm not sure whether this time the polls will underestimate
- 47:59Speaker 20: his vote because the polsters have made adjustments. But I
- 48:03Speaker 20: do think they're having much more difficulty polling people given
- 48:07Speaker 20: the changes of technology. My antennae on the basis of
- 48:13Speaker 20: just watching this election campaign from both within and outside
- 48:18Speaker 20: of the US, is that Trump will win because he
- 48:21Speaker 20: become He comes across as clearer, stronger, and more decisive.
- 48:26Speaker 20: Kamala Harris has you know, that's a wonderful expression. The
- 48:30Speaker 20: Americans use words salad. She stumbles over her words. It's
- 48:36Speaker 20: hard to know what she's talking about, and she's very
- 48:39Speaker 20: if you like policy lights, you know she tells you
- 48:42Speaker 20: she comes from a middle class family with a lorn
- 48:46Speaker 20: in front of the house or something. Her father, by
- 48:48Speaker 20: the way, was a was a Stanford economics professor, so
- 48:52Speaker 20: they weren't just an ordinary middle class family.
- 48:55Speaker 1: But she labors those sorts of points.
- 48:58Speaker 20: And doesn't talk about policies that might affect the American people.
- 49:03Speaker 20: I think she's proving to be Look, I could be wrong,
- 49:06Speaker 20: but I think she's too weak at candidate. I think
- 49:09Speaker 20: Trump has trampled on her rarely politically speaking.
- 49:14Speaker 1: We'll see what next week holds. Thanks for joining us, Alexander.
- 49:19Speaker 1: It's a pleasure. Chris it sure is fascinating.
- 49:23Speaker 3: It's going to be a big week next week, but
- 49:25Speaker 3: I want to bring it back to domestic politics now
- 49:28Speaker 3: and share some of your feedback. When it comes to
- 49:30Speaker 3: Albow and the qualits upgrades, one viewer says he can run,
- 49:33Speaker 3: but he can't hide.
- 49:34Speaker 1: Albou must be sacked and stripped of his political pension,
- 49:37Speaker 1: all of it.
- 49:38Speaker 3: It's a bit harsh. Simon says, it's how socialists operate.
- 49:42Speaker 3: Get what you can for yourself and minimize the rest.
- 49:45Speaker 3: Another viewer says Albow is a grifter and feathering his nest.
- 49:49Speaker 3: It's all about him and he's doone nothing for the
- 49:51Speaker 3: Australian people except make life a misery. And one more
- 49:55Speaker 3: here of yours says, let me guess he's hiding out
- 49:57Speaker 3: on an air bus. Thanks for joining me. Stay tuned tonight.
- 50:03Speaker 3: Big week next week with the US election. Credlin coming
- 50:06Speaker 3: up next with Peter Credlin
