• 1:36
Speaker 2: I'll tell you, it felt good out there this morning.
• 1:38
Speaker 2: It really, really did. But Metro News meteorologist Brian Hughes
• 1:41
Speaker 2: says don't get used to it. We have sunny skies
• 1:43
Speaker 2: through today, but it'll feel much hotter than it was
• 1:45
Speaker 2: yesterday with a high around 90. Clear tonight, mid to
• 1:47
Speaker 2: upper 60s. Sunny, hot tomorrow, low 90s. By the time
• 1:50
Speaker 2: Thursday rolls around, we could... We could see some scattered
• 1:53
Speaker 2: showers and storms, chance of rain and thunderstorms around pretty
• 1:56
Speaker 2: much all the way through the weekend. Thursdays high below 90s,
• 1:59
Speaker 2: upper 80s through the weekend. Download the Metro News television
• 2:01
Speaker 2: app for Brian and his team of meteorologists to follow
• 2:04
Speaker 2: along on social media as well. Coming up, is it
• 2:07
Speaker 2: too early to talk Halloween? Well, no, it's not. There's
• 2:10
Speaker 2: a historic building in Charleston many people have said for
• 2:13
Speaker 2: decades is already haunted. Well, some people planning to turn
• 2:16
Speaker 2: that into a haunted house. Good morning, Dave.
• 2:19
  Speaker 7: How are you?
• 2:20
Speaker 2: I am fine. Thanks for being here.
• 2:21
  Speaker 8: All right.
• 2:22
Speaker 2: So before we get into the serious stuff here, I
• 2:23
Speaker 2: guess this is sort of serious. This is how you
• 2:25
Speaker 2: know that we are living in really, really strange times, okay?
• 2:45
Speaker 2: There is going to be this conference held about AI,
• 2:49
Speaker 2: people concerned about it. On the stage at the same time,
• 2:51
Speaker 2: Steve Bannon and Bernie Sanders.
• 2:53
Speaker 5: Yeah, and Tucker Carlson endorsed Al Sayed in Michigan.
• 2:57
Speaker 2: Yes, there is that as well. So, I mean, do
• 3:00
Speaker 2: we just give up now and turn it over to
• 3:02
  Speaker 2: the robots?
• 3:03
Speaker 5: No, I think what this is evidencing is that politics
• 3:07
Speaker 5: is a circle, not a line, right? And the further
• 3:09
Speaker 5: left you go, the closer you get to the right.
• 3:11
Speaker 5: The further right you go, the closer you get to
• 3:12
Speaker 5: the left. And, you know, we are in strange politics
• 3:16
  Speaker 5: these days.
• 3:16
Speaker 2: When I heard that on the air this morning, they
• 3:19
Speaker 2: said Bernie Sanders will share a stage with Steve Bannon.
• 3:22
  Speaker 7: I thought, what?
• 3:25
Speaker 3: Yeah. What? What are we doing?
• 3:26
  Speaker 7: All right.
• 3:27
Speaker 2: Let's get to some more serious stuff here. No, but
• 3:30
Speaker 2: that's not serious in and of itself. Big announcement yesterday, JB,
• 3:33
Speaker 2: that the EPA appealing the Obama, the Obama-Biden era power rules.
• 3:39
Speaker 2: Why is this important to West Virginia and other energy states?
• 3:42
Speaker 5: Well, it's important because from a sort of macro level,
• 3:46
Speaker 5: it shows that we're returning to a rational energy policy.
• 3:50
Speaker 5: And one of the things that we've spent a lot
• 3:52
Speaker 5: of time doing in the office and one of the
• 3:53
Speaker 5: things that I've learned a lot about in the last
• 3:55
Speaker 5: two years is this NGO green energy complex. And there's
• 4:02
Speaker 5: billions of dollars in this complex. And the lengths that
• 4:06
Speaker 5: they will go to take bad data and push it
• 4:12
Speaker 5: onto the public as truth. And so what we know is,
• 4:16
Speaker 5: is for the last 15 or 20 years, our judiciary,
• 4:19
Speaker 5: our legislative branch, and during about 12 years of those
• 4:24
Speaker 5: Republican presidential administrations, we've been using data that far exceeded,
• 4:32
Speaker 5: by 100 degrees, right, what the actual climate uh, dangers are.
• 4:39
Speaker 5: And so when you have bad data and everyone says, Oh,
• 4:42
Speaker 5: trust the science, right? Well, the science is coming from politicians,
• 4:45
Speaker 5: not scientists. And that gets you really, really bad policy
• 4:48
Speaker 5: policy that raises your energy rates policy that creates energy scarcity, right?
• 4:53
Speaker 5: We live in a world now where if you're trying
• 4:55
Speaker 5: to build a manufacturing facility, you have to wait in
• 4:58
Speaker 5: a queue for 14 months to determine whether or not
• 5:01
Speaker 5: we can even deliver enough electricity to for you to
• 5:04
Speaker 5: create a thousand jobs right here in West Virginia, a
• 5:06
Speaker 5: place where we have five, 600 years worth of reliable,
• 5:11
Speaker 5: low cost energy. And all we have to do is
• 5:13
Speaker 5: burn it. All we have to do is build power
• 5:15
Speaker 5: plants that will burn the energy that's underneath our feet.
• 5:18
Speaker 5: The coal and the gas that we have here could
• 5:20
Speaker 5: be driving the revolution in American resurgence, right? But we
• 5:25
Speaker 5: were told we couldn't do that. We were told that
• 5:27
Speaker 5: that was bad. We were told that the world was
• 5:29
Speaker 5: going to end in 20, 1990, we were told it
• 5:32
Speaker 5: was going to end in 2000. We were told it
• 5:33
Speaker 5: was going to end in 2010. We were told it
• 5:34
Speaker 5: was going to end in 2020. We were told it
• 5:36
Speaker 5: was going to end in 2030. We know all of
• 5:39
Speaker 5: these things are untrue. And so we're unwinding this multi-decade
• 5:43
Speaker 5: long borderline conspiracy to change the public's opinion about how
• 5:50
Speaker 5: these things work. And now we're far behind. And what
• 5:52
Speaker 5: this administration has done is they've said, we're not going
• 5:54
Speaker 5: to use bad data and we're going to make rational
• 5:56
Speaker 5: energy policy so that America can thrive tomorrow. particularly in
• 6:00
Speaker 5: this world where every other country isn't being restrained by that,
• 6:02
Speaker 5: except for the countries in Europe, where we see all
• 6:04
Speaker 5: of their economies cratering.
• 6:05
Speaker 2: And that's where, you know, I was kind of on
• 6:07
Speaker 2: all this thing. Again, we're talking to J.B. McCuskey, Attorney General,
• 6:11
Speaker 2: you know, 15, 20 years ago, maybe even before that,
• 6:14
Speaker 2: when all of this was coming out about, you know,
• 6:16
Speaker 2: we are going to reduce, we're not going to build
• 6:18
Speaker 2: any more power plants, we're going to reduce the fossil
• 6:20
Speaker 2: fuels and so on. Okay, that's fine. But the rest
• 6:23
Speaker 2: of the world is not doing that. And if you believe,
• 6:26
Speaker 2: in my opinion, not a scientist, but if you believe
• 6:28
Speaker 2: that We are indeed one earth, which I guess we are.
• 6:32
Speaker 2: We are. If what we're doing here, it's not going,
• 6:36
Speaker 2: it's not keeping India from doing what they're doing. It's
• 6:39
Speaker 2: not keeping China from doing what they're doing.
• 6:40
Speaker 5: Well, and it also prevents human flourishing. You know, one
• 6:44
Speaker 5: of the great farces of this entire greeno lefty world
• 6:49
Speaker 5: is that carbon fuels haven't saved hundreds of millions of
• 6:53
Speaker 5: lives across the world. You can point to climate-related events
• 6:56
Speaker 5: that have killed people for sure, but it's impossible to
• 7:00
Speaker 5: really quantify what having air conditioning and heating and advanced
• 7:04
Speaker 5: manufacturing and middle-class jobs throughout the world and all of
• 7:08
Speaker 5: those things are built because of carbon fuels. And so
• 7:11
Speaker 5: we forget about what the entire industrial revolution did for humanity.
• 7:17
Speaker 5: And so there's something very anti-human about people that want
• 7:20
Speaker 5: to destroy the entire carbon fuels market because that prevents
• 7:24
Speaker 5: every other developed nation who hasn't had the opportunity to
• 7:27
Speaker 5: do what the United States in the first world has
• 7:29
Speaker 5: done from creating that environment where people stop dying from malaria,
• 7:33
Speaker 5: where people start to have a life that they can
• 7:37
Speaker 5: build around where their children's futures are going to be
• 7:39
Speaker 5: better than their own. And there's really only one thing
• 7:41
Speaker 5: you can point to that created that world here in
• 7:43
Speaker 5: this country, which is, number one, capitalism, and number two,
• 7:47
Speaker 5: the advent of reliable carbon fuel-generated electricity.
• 7:51
Speaker 2: Talking again with Attorney General J.B. McCuskey. And you feel,
• 7:55
Speaker 2: you put out a press release about this yesterday, you
• 7:57
Speaker 2: feel that this eventually will lead to reduced energy costs.
• 8:00
  Speaker 3: It has to.
• 8:01
Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, that is the end-all, be-all, right? We
• 8:05
Speaker 5: live in a world of PJM, right? I don't know
• 8:07
Speaker 5: if everybody out there understands what PJM does. But they're
• 8:11
Speaker 5: supposed to be this nonpartisan market for electricity, right? And
• 8:18
Speaker 5: what PJM is really doing is creating an environment where
• 8:23
Speaker 5: things like carbon credits and solar credits and wind credits
• 8:27
Speaker 5: are able to be purchased for people who don't want
• 8:30
Speaker 5: to make electricity to feel good about themselves. But if
• 8:33
Speaker 5: you live in Maryland, and to a large degree, Virginia,
• 8:36
Speaker 5: if you live in New Jersey, if you live in
• 8:38
Speaker 5: parts of Pennsylvania... They don't make electricity anymore, so they
• 8:41
Speaker 5: rely on us, but they think what we do is icky.
• 8:44
Speaker 5: So they go out and they set up these schemes
• 8:46
Speaker 5: where they can spend hundreds of millions of dollars on
• 8:48
Speaker 5: supposed green energy, which actually doesn't add very much to
• 8:51
Speaker 5: the grid and does nothing but skyrocket our energy prices.
• 8:56
Speaker 5: And what we know is when there's abundant energy, when
• 8:58
Speaker 5: there's more than what you need, it drives manufacturing and
• 9:02
Speaker 5: large-scale users, which brings the cost down for electricity for everyone.
• 9:06
Speaker 5: And that's one of the really interesting things that we're
• 9:08
Speaker 5: seeing about these large power users that are coming online,
• 9:11
Speaker 5: electricity has sort of an, an, an odd market, but
• 9:14
Speaker 5: the more large scale users you have, the people that
• 9:16
Speaker 5: have long-term contracts with the power company that are paying
• 9:19
Speaker 5: more than the average consumer that drives the prices down.
• 9:21
Speaker 5: If you just go back and look at Wintersturm fern
• 9:24
Speaker 5: last year, everybody remembers having four inches of ice on
• 9:27
Speaker 5: their driveway. If PJM had allowed our coal fired units
• 9:31
Speaker 5: to run, it would have covered, you know, 5, 10,
• 9:34
Speaker 5: 15 percent of every West Virginian's power bill for the
• 9:37
Speaker 5: entire year. But they weren't allowed to even burn the
• 9:40
Speaker 5: coal to heat the homes in the coldest time we've
• 9:44
Speaker 5: had in, you know, 10 years.
• 9:46
Speaker 2: Here's kind of where I am on this. You know,
• 9:48
Speaker 2: you hear, Mr. Attorney General, about the Clean Air Act.
• 9:52
Speaker 2: Great name. And we all want clean air. We all want,
• 9:55
  Speaker 2: clean water.
• 9:55
Speaker 5: I breathed some very clean air this morning.
• 9:58
  Speaker 7: Exactly.
• 9:59
Speaker 2: Very nice out there.
• 9:59
  Speaker 5: It was nice.
• 10:00
Speaker 2: But many feel, as we kind of alluded to earlier,
• 10:03
Speaker 2: President Company included in this, that it was taken over
• 10:06
Speaker 2: by extremism. And you think that what happened yesterday will
• 10:11
Speaker 2: restore it to its original intent.
• 10:15
  Speaker 5: Rationality.
• 10:16
  Speaker 3: Right?
• 10:16
Speaker 5: You don't have to, anything involving this marketplace needs to
• 10:20
Speaker 5: be done rationally because what, because the consequences of acting irrationally,
• 10:24
Speaker 5: the consequences of being, as you said, perfectly extreme are
• 10:28
Speaker 5: that consumers pay more, jobs are lost, and we fall
• 10:32
Speaker 5: behind our adversaries. And so we, you know, is it
• 10:35
Speaker 5: important for us to make sure that our environment is clean?
• 10:37
Speaker 5: Is it important for us to do all of the
• 10:39
Speaker 5: things that we can to burn these fuels as smartly
• 10:42
Speaker 5: and as efficiently as possible, 100%. Go get new windows.
• 10:46
Speaker 5: Find an energy-efficient appliance. If you want to have a
• 10:49
Speaker 5: solar panel on your roof, go do that. It's a
• 10:51
Speaker 5: great idea. It saves you money. It gets you off
• 10:52
Speaker 5: the grid. It does all these things. But we can't
• 10:55
Speaker 5: do that at the expense of base load power that
• 10:58
Speaker 5: creates not only human flourishing, as I said, but it
• 11:01
Speaker 5: creates an environment where our economy can grow in a
• 11:04
Speaker 5: way that other states don't have the ability to do.
• 11:06
Speaker 2: So what else is making news in.
• 11:08
Speaker 7: Your world these days?
• 11:09
Speaker 5: What else is making news in my world these days? Oh,
• 11:13
Speaker 5: Cam had a soccer game last night, her first middle
• 11:15
Speaker 5: school game. Jay defeated Andrew Jackson. It was really unbelievable
• 11:20
Speaker 5: to watch a kid that was born the year I
• 11:23
Speaker 5: got elected go out and play at a middle school
• 11:25
Speaker 5: soccer game. It was really unbelievable.
• 11:28
Speaker 7: Some personal news there.
• 11:30
Speaker 5: You know, we had this Facebook case, which was a really,
• 11:32
Speaker 5: really big deal, the Metta case. I think parents around
• 11:36
Speaker 5: West Virginia and across the country are really going to
• 11:38
Speaker 5: start to see the impact of what the of what
• 11:43
Speaker 5: the injunctive relief we got in that case is. We
• 11:45
Speaker 5: think that what Facebook was willing to do, what we
• 11:49
Speaker 5: forced them to do through this litigation is going to
• 11:51
Speaker 5: really level the playing field between parents and kids. It's
• 11:54
Speaker 5: going to give parents the tools they need to really
• 11:56
Speaker 5: start to monitor. And the amount of time kids are
• 11:59
Speaker 5: using social media is hopefully get kids out on their
• 12:01
Speaker 5: bike a little bit more, playing and having some interaction
• 12:05
Speaker 5: with their friends in real time. And then we have
• 12:08
Speaker 5: some more cases coming. We got a TikTok case coming.
• 12:11
Speaker 5: We got a YouTube case coming. Because we know these kids,
• 12:15
Speaker 5: they use these apps seamlessly. If you've ever watched a
• 12:18
Speaker 5: 10-year-old use an iPad, they go from Instagram to YouTube
• 12:23
Speaker 5: to whatever. And so we need to make sure that
• 12:26
Speaker 5: these safety precautions that we fought so hard for in
• 12:29
Speaker 5: the meta case apply throughout the world of social media
• 12:32
Speaker 5: as it relates to children.
• 12:33
Speaker 2: But, I mean, I agree with that, and I had
• 12:35
Speaker 2: you on when the most recent decision came down. But
• 12:38
Speaker 2: it ultimately, though, and you're a parent, I'm not, it
• 12:40
Speaker 2: ultimately comes down to the parents, though.
• 12:42
  Speaker 5: Of course, 100%.
• 12:43
Speaker 2: So if the parents don't buy into this, it really
• 12:45
  Speaker 2: doesn't matter.
• 12:45
Speaker 5: Well, there's some of the safety things that will happen
• 12:48
Speaker 5: regardless of what the parents want to happen. But what
• 12:50
Speaker 5: I think is the most important here is it's giving
• 12:52
Speaker 5: parents the tools— to understand these technologies. And, you know,
• 12:56
Speaker 5: because you can't be with your kid 100% of the time.
• 12:58
  Speaker 7: It's impossible.
• 12:58
Speaker 5: Your kid's going to go to their room. They're going
• 13:00
Speaker 5: to want to be alone. They're going to want to
• 13:01
Speaker 5: do all this stuff, whatever it is. It gives them
• 13:03
Speaker 5: the ability to understand the platform and it gives them
• 13:07
Speaker 5: ammunition in what we all think is this fight to
• 13:10
Speaker 5: have kids be using these social media platforms a lot less.
• 13:14
Speaker 5: Do they have benefits? Of course they do. There's all
• 13:17
Speaker 5: kinds of great stuff that can happen on the internet.
• 13:18
Speaker 5: Kids can be creative. They can interact with their friends.
• 13:20
Speaker 5: They can research things. They can do all kinds of
• 13:22
Speaker 5: other things. but they also have to be kids and
• 13:25
Speaker 5: they can't be addicted to these things. And what we
• 13:27
Speaker 5: found in that meta case is that they were intentionally
• 13:29
Speaker 5: building algorithms to make children addicted, to ensure that they
• 13:33
Speaker 5: stayed on their platforms for as long as humanly possible.
• 13:35
Speaker 5: And that's dangerous. And so we were really proud of
• 13:38
Speaker 5: what we did there, and we're really looking forward to
• 13:40
Speaker 5: what we have going forward.
• 13:41
Speaker 2: Attorney General J.B. McCuskey, always a pleasure to have you

• 16:43
Speaker 2: talk Halloween, probably not. If you've been in a store lately,
• 16:47
Speaker 2: you've probably already seen Valentine's Day stuff out or something
• 16:49
Speaker 2: like that. It's kind of the way it goes in
• 16:51
Speaker 2: the world of retail. But I want to talk about
• 16:53
Speaker 2: a new haunted house coming along, the Capital Horror Haunted House,
• 16:56
Speaker 2: coming soon to the Old Rock City Building downtown. Tonya Perry,
• 17:00
Speaker 2: who is with Tickers and Timbers, joins us to talk
• 17:02
  Speaker 2: about it.
• 17:02
  Speaker 12: Good morning.
• 17:03
Speaker 2: Welcome to the show.
• 17:04
Speaker 13: Good morning. Thanks for having me.
• 17:05
Speaker 2: Thank you for being here. First time we've had you
• 17:07
Speaker 2: on the show. So where did this whole idea of
• 17:09
Speaker 2: this haunted house come from?
• 17:11
Speaker 13: Well, I've had tickers and timbers for a few years.
• 17:14
Speaker 13: I've had a couple of locations, and I build my
• 17:17
Speaker 13: own escape rooms. So I've done that for about six years.
• 17:19
Speaker 13: And the past few years, I noticed that no one
• 17:22
Speaker 13: really did a haunted house. You have to drive way
• 17:24
Speaker 13: out to do a haunted house, and that's all well
• 17:27
Speaker 13: and good. But where I build these escape rooms, I thought, well,
• 17:31
Speaker 13: if anybody's going to do a haunted house that's local
• 17:34
Speaker 13: in town, I would love to do that. And I
• 17:36
Speaker 13: really wanted to do that for the past couple of years.
• 17:39
Speaker 13: I just didn't have the space. And when the space
• 17:42
Speaker 13: across the street opened up, I thought that would be
• 17:44
Speaker 13: a fantastic idea. So I went through all the things
• 17:50
Speaker 13: and started to build. And so we set it up
• 17:53
Speaker 13: to where you will check in at Tickers and Timber's.
• 17:56
Speaker 13: And we will have an actor escort you across the
• 18:00
Speaker 13: street to our Rock City, the old Rock City building
• 18:03
Speaker 13: there at 205 Capital. And we have built out the
• 18:07
Speaker 13: entire first floor there, a mezzanine area. I'm sure a
• 18:11
Speaker 13: lot of people have been in there. And it's coming along.
• 18:15
  Speaker 8: Yeah.
• 18:15
Speaker 13: So we're going to be opening September 25th, which is
• 18:17
  Speaker 13: a Friday.
• 18:17
  Speaker 12: Mm-hmm.
• 18:20
Speaker 13: And we're running through October 31st, Halloween, on a Saturday.
• 18:23
Speaker 13: So we're going to be open every Friday and Saturday
• 18:26
  Speaker 13: from 7 p.m. to midnight. We're going to have a
• 18:29
Speaker 13: brand-new fall menu and all sorts of really cool drinks
• 18:34
Speaker 13: that light up for kids and adults.
• 18:36
Speaker 2: I was going to ask you about the Haunted House,
• 18:38
Speaker 2: but anytime we talk about these haunted houses, haunted trails,
• 18:41
Speaker 2: I always want to ask about the— The ages, because
• 18:44
Speaker 2: some of them are not really intended for little kids.
• 18:46
Speaker 2: Some of them are like 12 and up. And I
• 18:48
Speaker 2: know it depends on the kid. But what age would
• 18:49
Speaker 2: you say this is appropriate?
• 18:51
Speaker 13: So if I had to make a recommendation, I would
• 18:55
Speaker 13: probably say 14 and up. That would be a recommendation,
• 18:59
Speaker 13: as per my insurance. We don't have an age restriction,
• 19:04
Speaker 13: but that would be, as a mom and a grandma,
• 19:08
Speaker 13: that's what I would recommend. I'm not necessarily a horror person,
• 19:13
Speaker 13: believe it or not, but we are definitely trying to
• 19:16
Speaker 13: make it a scary haunted house, for sure.
• 19:19
Speaker 2: Now, to me, there is a difference, and you or
• 19:22
Speaker 2: listeners may disagree. I think there's a difference between horror
• 19:25
Speaker 2: and gore and being... being scary they're not always necessarily
• 19:30
  Speaker 2: the same thing.
• 19:30
Speaker 13: Right there's different there are different levels for sure i
• 19:34
Speaker 13: think that we have incorporated a level of all three
• 19:38
Speaker 13: of those things honestly i think we're going to scratch
• 19:40
Speaker 13: everybody's itch with this haunted house.
• 19:42
Speaker 2: Is this something that you've been interested in like pretty
• 19:44
Speaker 2: much your whole life i mean you can't because we
• 19:46
Speaker 2: are just something recently or.
• 19:47
  Speaker 13: Well, you know, like I said, I'm a grandma. I
• 19:50
Speaker 13: actually was a therapist for 20 years for children with
• 19:52
Speaker 13: special needs. And when COVID hit, I decided to go
• 19:56
Speaker 13: a different direction and started building these locations. with tickers
• 19:59
Speaker 13: and timbers. And I just felt like, you know, as
• 20:02
  Speaker 13: a West Virginia resident, I live here, there wasn't a
• 20:05
Speaker 13: whole lot to do indoors. And I started building those
• 20:08
Speaker 13: and it did well. And so I just wanted to
• 20:11
Speaker 13: build my escape rooms, and I'm kind of a visual person,
• 20:14
Speaker 13: and that just came to fruition, and it's led to here.
• 20:18
  Speaker 13: Here we are.
• 20:19
Speaker 2: Now, the whole escape room thing, that's something that I
• 20:21
Speaker 2: have not participated in. What is the appeal of that
• 20:24
Speaker 2: to people or yourself?
• 20:25
  Speaker 1: Those are rooms.
• 20:27
Speaker 13: A lot of people, I'll preface it by saying, a
• 20:28
Speaker 13: lot of people think that you are locked in a room,
• 20:31
Speaker 13: like in the movies. That's just not the case. These
• 20:34
Speaker 13: are really, really great team-building date night type activities.
• 20:38
Speaker 2: A lot of companies do these.
• 20:39
Speaker 13: Yes, we have companies that book with us every week
• 20:42
Speaker 13: and do private events during the day even. But you
• 20:46
Speaker 13: basically work together to solve problems in different themes to
• 20:50
Speaker 13: get out of the game before the 60 minutes is up.
• 20:53
Speaker 13: That's what it is.
• 20:54
Speaker 2: Yeah. 928th, the Dave Allen Show on 580 Live, brought
• 20:57
Speaker 2: to you in part by Pinnacle Consultants. When environmental questions
• 21:00
Speaker 2: come up at a building, Pinnacle provides clear answers, specializing
• 21:03
Speaker 2: in And asbestos, lead, mold, and indoor air quality issues

Speaker 2: accredited lab testing based right here in West Virginia. Check
• 21:08
Speaker 2: out morepinnaclecorp.net, helping you understand your environment because what you
• 21:11
Speaker 2: don't know can't hurt yourselves. Now, for people that aren't
• 21:13
Speaker 2: familiar with tickers and timbers, explain that concept.
• 21:16
  Speaker 3: Right.
• 21:16
Speaker 13: So we have rage rooms, axe throwing, escape rooms, paint splatter.
• 21:22
Speaker 13: We have a full bar, a full menu. We have
• 21:24
Speaker 13: a pool table, darts, all of the things, all of
• 21:27
Speaker 13: the things indoors that you could think of. Great for
• 21:30
Speaker 13: date night, groups, all of those things. But also, I
• 21:34
Speaker 13: wanted to mention, we actually haven't announced it yet, so
• 21:36
Speaker 13: I guess we're announcing it here.
• 21:37
  Speaker 2: Drum roll, please.
• 21:38
Speaker 13: Drum roll. So we are Friday.
• 21:42
  Speaker 2: We can't afford a drummer.
• 21:43
Speaker 13: I got you. I got it. Friday night, October 30th.
• 21:47
Speaker 13: We are having downtown between that 205 Capitol Street and
• 21:51
Speaker 13: Tickers and Timbers at 210. We're closing down the street.
• 21:55
Speaker 13: We are having a trunk or treat with hearses. So
• 22:00
Speaker 13: we're going to have about 10 to 12 hearses come down,
• 22:03
Speaker 13: do a trunk or treat. We're going to have some really,
• 22:05
Speaker 13: really fun things to do. Street's going to be closed.
• 22:08
  Speaker 13: It's going to start at 7 p.m. We haven't even
• 22:11
Speaker 13: announced it yet, but that's one of our things. Our
• 22:13
Speaker 13: haunted house is going on that night. It's going to
• 22:15
Speaker 13: be a fun time.
• 22:16
Speaker 2: And again, that's October the 30th, Friday. And you're actually
• 22:20
Speaker 2: going to do the trunk or treat with actual hearses.
• 22:22
  Speaker 3: Yes.
• 22:23
Speaker 2: I mean, are these hearses that you would see at
• 22:26
Speaker 2: your home? Car shows. Car shows. These aren't active hearses.
• 22:29
Speaker 13: They are decked out for car shows. Fortunately, I have
• 22:32
Speaker 13: some friends who come in to Tickers and Timbers often.
• 22:36
Speaker 13: And I'm so grateful for them. And they are coming
• 22:38
Speaker 13: in and they're going to bring all their things and
• 22:41
Speaker 13: bring the kids down. It is a kids activity for
• 22:43
Speaker 13: Truck or Treat. We're going to do a costume contest
• 22:45
Speaker 13: later that night. And fortunately, we have had the Salango
• 22:52
Speaker 13: Law is sponsoring us. So we're really appreciative of that.
• 22:57
Speaker 2: We had a text here that said, escape rooms are
• 22:58
Speaker 2: awesome and so much fun, only problem the cost per person.
• 23:01
Speaker 2: It would be cool to have kind of a kid-friendly
• 23:03
Speaker 2: escape room like with the Disney or Harry Potter thing.
• 23:06
Speaker 13: It would. However, let me say this. As the person
• 23:10
Speaker 13: who builds them, these things take a lot of time
• 23:14
Speaker 13: to build, probably up to six months, depending on the level.
• 23:19
Speaker 13: And as a small business owner, time and money, you know,
• 23:23
Speaker 13: so– We try to change them as often as we can.
• 23:27
Speaker 13: So this haunted house is kind of like an escape
• 23:30
Speaker 13: room on a much larger scale. So hopefully people come
• 23:34
Speaker 13: in to do that. But people ages 10 and up
• 23:38
Speaker 13: can come in and throw axes. Paints Flatter, we do
• 23:40
Speaker 13: kids' birthday parties all the time there for that. So
• 23:43
  Speaker 13: we are a kin-friendly business.
• 23:46
Speaker 2: And the building that we're talking about, this is a
• 23:48
Speaker 2: former Rock City location across the street. It has been
• 23:51
Speaker 2: rumored to be haunted anyway. That's what I've heard. That's right.
• 23:54
Speaker 13: That's right. So we have a TikTok page, and I'm
• 23:56
Speaker 13: starting to post about all of that. And what a
• 23:59
Speaker 13: lot of people don't know is I have been at
• 24:02
Speaker 13: Tickers and Timbers at 210 Capitol Street for about four
• 24:05
Speaker 13: and a half years, and I could tell a lot
• 24:07
Speaker 13: of stories. And I plan on it on my TikTok
• 24:10
Speaker 13: series there. So we have a lot of things, but
• 24:14
Speaker 13: the running joke is you're building a haunted house in
• 24:16
  Speaker 13: a haunted house.
• 24:17
  Speaker 12: Okay.
• 24:17
Speaker 13: So, yeah, that's where we're at.
• 24:19
  Speaker 12: All right.
• 24:19
Speaker 2: How does one learn to build escape rooms? That's what
• 24:21
Speaker 2: I want to know. I mean, is that necessarily something
• 24:24
Speaker 2: that they teach in architectural school, or is it?
• 24:27
Speaker 13: No, my background is teaching in clinical psychology, so that's
• 24:32
Speaker 13: where I'm at. But for me, I'm a visual person,
• 24:35
Speaker 13: and I just love immersive experiences, and I am self-taught,
• 24:41
Speaker 13: and a lot of days... I struggle. But, you know,
• 24:45
Speaker 13: I've lived and learned with the escape rooms that I've built.
• 24:48
Speaker 13: And it seems like every build I learn more and
• 24:51
Speaker 13: they just get better.
• 24:52
  Speaker 12: Yeah.
• 24:52
  Speaker 1: All right.
• 24:54
Speaker 2: Well, give us the timeline again when everything begins. I mean,
• 24:58
Speaker 2: the one that begins next week. Let's start with that one.
• 25:00
  Speaker 3: Right.
• 25:00
Speaker 13: So next week on Friday, September 25th, we are opening
• 25:04
  Speaker 13: at 7 p.m. We are open from 7 p.m. to
• 25:08
Speaker 13: midnight every Friday and Saturday through October 31st. You'll check
• 25:13
Speaker 13: in at Tickers and Timbers. You can purchase tickets online
• 25:15
Speaker 13: in advance or you can purchase them at the door.
• 25:18
Speaker 13: They're $ 25 a person. And while you wait so people
• 25:22
Speaker 13: don't have to stand outside in line like you would
• 25:24
Speaker 13: typically do for a haunted house, you can Come in,
• 25:27
Speaker 13: have some drinks, have some foods, and our scare actors
• 25:30
Speaker 13: are going to actually escort you over to the 205
• 25:34
Speaker 13: address to the haunted house.
• 25:36
Speaker 2: So, I mean, approximately how many people can you take
• 25:39
Speaker 2: in at a time? I mean, is it like a
• 25:40
  Speaker 2: group thing?
• 25:40
Speaker 13: So we're going to send groups, probably, you know, smaller groups,
• 25:43
Speaker 13: 8 to 10. I'm still waiting on some approvals and
• 25:47
Speaker 13: things to determine those numbers, but... We are expecting and
• 25:51
Speaker 13: we are hoping that a lot of Charleston comes out
• 25:54
Speaker 13: to this. This is a new concept for downtown Charleston,
• 25:57
Speaker 13: I think, to have such a large haunted house. And
• 26:02
Speaker 13: we hope that everybody comes out.
• 26:03
Speaker 2: And I would think, too, that the other adjoining towns,
• 26:06
Speaker 2: you know, the restaurants, bars that are in that general area,
• 26:09
Speaker 2: I would think that they're going to eat this stuff
• 26:10
Speaker 2: up because, I mean, you guys are going to be
• 26:12
Speaker 2: doing what you're doing, but they're going to get a
• 26:14
  Speaker 2: little runoff.
• 26:15
Speaker 3: From this as well.
• 26:16
Speaker 13: I think so, too. And, you know, Halloween's a big deal.
• 26:18
Speaker 13: A lot of people love Halloween. And it's getting.
• 26:21
  Speaker 2: Bigger every year.
• 26:22
  Speaker 12: Yeah, it is.
• 26:23
Speaker 2: It is a multi, multi-trillion dollar industry or something like
• 26:27
  Speaker 2: that now.
• 26:27
Speaker 13: And I really hope this does well so that we
• 26:29
Speaker 13: can do even more in the future.
• 26:31
Speaker 2: I mean, you think about it. downtown Charleston during Christmas
• 26:34
Speaker 2: with Holly Jolly Raleigh and the Selangolo Light the Night
• 26:36
Speaker 2: and so on. It's become kind of the Christmas town.
• 26:38
Speaker 2: No reason why it can't be the Halloween town as well.
• 26:40
Speaker 13: Right, and a little hint. I am hoping that during
• 26:44
Speaker 13: Christmas time, Holly Jolly Raleigh, that we are actually going
• 26:47
Speaker 13: to do something in that building for that as well.
• 26:50
Speaker 2: Okay, that all sounds good. Give us your website and
• 26:52
  Speaker 2: social media.
• 26:53
Speaker 13: Right, so it's tickersandtimbers, all spelled out, at gmail.com. That's
• 26:57
Speaker 13: my email. We're looking for some scare actors, by the way.
• 27:00
Speaker 13: We really, really need those. Just email us or call us.
• 27:03
Speaker 13: And our website is tickersandtimbers.com. You can find tickets there
• 27:07
Speaker 13: for the Capitol Horror Haunted House.
• 27:09
Speaker 2: All right. I appreciate you being here. Looking forward to it.
• 27:11
Speaker 2: We'll have to have you on again. Thanks a lot.
• 27:13
Speaker 2: Thank you so much. It is 25 minutes away from 10.

Speaker 2: Webb is here. How you doing, my friend?
• 30:16
Speaker 18: Well, I had to unknot the cord here on my
• 30:20
Speaker 18: headset because I'm OCD and it has to be perfect.
• 30:23
Speaker 2: Okay, I understand. We have a person that works in
• 30:27
Speaker 2: our office here, and I won't mention her name, Stephanie,
• 30:30
Speaker 2: our producer of Midday, who, whenever she comes into my office,
• 30:34
Speaker 2: straightens things on my desk.
• 30:35
  Speaker 10: Oh, yeah.
• 30:36
  Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
• 30:37
Speaker 18: Yeah, I know. We're cellmates, man. Listen, I'll go into
• 30:42
Speaker 18: a doctor's office. Not only will I organize their magazines,
• 30:46
Speaker 18: I'll throw away the old ones because they're just too old.
• 30:51
  Speaker 4: All right.
• 30:52
Speaker 2: You're here to talk about Thunder in the Mountains, right? Yes, sir.
• 30:55
  Speaker 2: When and where?
• 30:57
Speaker 18: Kanawha City Tennis Courts, you know, the Schoenbaum family tennis
• 31:01
Speaker 18: courts in Kanawha City in Charleston, West Virginia, starting Friday
• 31:06
Speaker 18: the 18th this week through Sunday around 3 o'clock. You know,
• 31:11
Speaker 18: you don't need a lot of time on the last
• 31:12
Speaker 18: day because it's just the finals or semifinals. I'm not
• 31:16
Speaker 18: sure where we're going to be on that. But before
• 31:20
Speaker 18: I forget, I want to... With your permission. Talk about
• 31:25
  Speaker 18: my sponsors.
• 31:26
Speaker 2: I've got a big note here that says sponsors.
• 31:28
Speaker 7: All right. You want to say it first?
• 31:30
  Speaker 8: I don't.
• 31:31
Speaker 2: Tell us about your sponsors, Mr.
• 31:32
  Speaker 5: Webb.
• 31:33
Speaker 7: Okay, thank you. Glad you asked.
• 31:35
Speaker 18: So Chick-fil-A, Tom Mintern, Tammy Worley at Jimmy John's, and
• 31:44
Speaker 18: Subway have been really, really loyal to us. They provide
• 31:47
Speaker 18: sandwiches each day. And they were so loyal that actually
• 31:53
Speaker 18: last year I paid for them because I'm like, you've
• 31:55
Speaker 18: been such loyal. I want to pay this year. So
• 31:57
Speaker 18: I paid last year. But this year I'm asking them
• 31:59
Speaker 18: for free again. The Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau has
• 32:05
Speaker 18: provided us tents every year and tables and whatever we need.
• 32:09
  Speaker 7: They've been great.
• 32:11
Speaker 18: And this year I received a fairs and festivals grant,
• 32:15
Speaker 18: compliments of Senators Charnock, Takubo, and delegate JB Akers. Since
• 32:24
Speaker 18: I said JB's name, I should say Tom Takubo and
• 32:28
Speaker 18: Ann Charnock because I want to treat them all fairly
• 32:30
Speaker 18: and equally. This year, Mindy White is going to be
• 32:34
Speaker 18: the director and she's taking over. I'm going to hand
• 32:37
Speaker 18: it over to her. I said that last year. But
• 32:40
Speaker 18: you mean it this time for real.
• 32:41
Speaker 7: But I mean it this time for real.
• 32:43
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 32:43
Speaker 18: So Mindy's taking over. I have her set up for
• 32:45
Speaker 18: next year. I have her some money Next year should
• 32:48
Speaker 18: be the largest ever. I think next year we'll have $ 10, 000.
• 32:50
  Speaker 11: Okay.
• 32:52
  Speaker 7: That's the plan.
• 32:56
Speaker 18: So, of course, our foundation players are going to be WVU, Marshall,
• 33:04
Speaker 18: and the University of Charleston. And we're expecting a player
• 33:08
Speaker 18: or two from West Virginia State. Don't know if they're
• 33:10
Speaker 18: going to make it. And James Madison University is supposed
• 33:15
Speaker 18: to bring some players, and we have some high school players,
• 33:20
Speaker 18: some really good junior players that are supposed to sign up. So,
• 33:25
Speaker 18: and the weather's supposed to be great.
• 33:27
  Speaker 7: So, you know.
• 33:31
Speaker 18: We're going to fly the flags again, which everybody loves.
• 33:37
Speaker 18: You want to ask me a question?
• 33:38
  Speaker 2: Well, I'm just, you're just.
• 33:39
  Speaker 1: No, no, no.
• 33:39
Speaker 7: I mean, I can go on forever, I guess. Yeah, yeah.
• 33:43
Speaker 18: It's sixth year out of seven, right? Because we missed COVID.
• 33:47
Speaker 18: We missed COVID. So yeah, we have that.
• 33:49
Speaker 2: Why is it such a big deal?
• 33:51
  Speaker 18: I don't, it's a big deal to me because it's
• 33:54
Speaker 18: probably a bigger deal to me than anybody because I
• 33:56
Speaker 18: just want women's athletics to survive and endure and thrive.
• 34:04
Speaker 18: And I just, and I want tennis to do the
• 34:06
Speaker 18: same thing. And I just want to give young players
• 34:10
Speaker 18: an opportunity to see really, really good tennis.
• 34:14
Speaker 7: Now, do we have huge crowds? No, we don't.
• 34:18
Speaker 18: We have 20, 30 people show up. But, you know,
• 34:22
Speaker 18: you do what you can, man. You do what you
• 34:23
Speaker 18: can with what you got. Both universities are away this weekend, right?
• 34:27
Speaker 18: So we don't have that little conflict if one ever existed.
• 34:30
Speaker 18: The tennis community doesn't tend to be crazy, you know,
• 34:34
Speaker 18: football community anyway, but.
• 34:37
Speaker 7: I shouldn't say that. I like them both.
• 34:39
Speaker 2: Well, but, I mean, like, you know, but it's true.
• 34:42
Speaker 2: I mean, Marshall is out in Missouri somewhere. WVU is
• 34:45
Speaker 2: playing against Virginia in Charlotte.
• 34:48
  Speaker 3: Right.
• 34:48
Speaker 2: So you don't have that to contend with.
• 34:50
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 34:50
Speaker 18: Well, you don't have that competition, but, yeah. But that's
• 34:56
  Speaker 18: a Saturday.
• 34:57
  Speaker 7: You know, Fridays.
• 34:58
Speaker 2: But getting– here's the thing that I have always thought
• 35:00
Speaker 2: is unique about this event, Rusty, is– The fact that
• 35:03
Speaker 2: you do offer and you try to get a lot
• 35:06
Speaker 2: of the younger players to come out, if not to play,
• 35:08
Speaker 2: just to watch and to get tips from people.
• 35:10
  Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
• 35:11
Speaker 18: And we talked about it on your other show. The
• 35:16
Speaker 18: most loyal fans I have are from Logan County.
• 35:20
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 35:21
Speaker 18: Chapmanville and Logan, or Chapmanville showed up one year. I
• 35:25
Speaker 18: don't know if they'll show up this year. I hope
• 35:26
  Speaker 18: they do.
• 35:27
Speaker 2: Chris Kidd's still the coach at Chapmanville?
• 35:29
Speaker 18: I haven't kept up with the high schools, really, so
• 35:32
  Speaker 18: I can't say. But speaking of kids, and I didn't
• 35:36
Speaker 18: want to forget this, you know, we always have a
• 35:38
Speaker 18: kids' clinic, a free kids' clinic, and that's going to
• 35:41
Speaker 18: be at 9 o'clock on Saturday.
• 35:43
Speaker 7: It's free. Bring your racket.
• 35:46
Speaker 18: If you don't have a racket, we'll provide you one,
• 35:49
Speaker 18: you know, because I don't want anybody to It's hard
• 35:52
Speaker 18: to play tennis without a racket.
• 35:53
  Speaker 7: So, uh.
• 35:55
Speaker 2: At that point, it's just dodgeball at that point.
• 35:57
  Speaker 3: Yes.
• 35:58
Speaker 7: With small, with smaller, smaller balls. But anyway, yeah. Good point.
• 36:03
  Speaker 7: That's hilarious.
• 36:04
Speaker 2: I get one every now and then.
• 36:05
  Speaker 14: You do.
• 36:05
Speaker 2: All right, but let's talk about getting the young kids
• 36:10
Speaker 2: involved in tennis in general. Not necessarily just this event,
• 36:13
Speaker 2: but I mean in general. What is it that you
• 36:16
Speaker 2: think would appeal to a lot of kids that maybe
• 36:20
Speaker 2: don't necessarily have a tennis background?
• 36:22
  Speaker 7: Well, it's a great sport.
• 36:24
Speaker 18: And if you look at the body styles, particularly of
• 36:28
Speaker 18: the women in the WTA– This is not the waif
• 36:32
Speaker 18: Euro blonde anymore. This is every body style can play.
• 36:38
Speaker 18: Tiffany Townsend, you know, not your typical, but she won
• 36:45
Speaker 18: the women's doubles at the U.S. Open, you know, and
• 36:49
Speaker 18: girl can move, man. And so what I'm saying is
• 36:53
Speaker 18: if you're not into team sports and you want to
• 36:56
Speaker 18: try something different, don't. Don't let the stereotype prevent you
• 37:01
Speaker 18: from doing it, right? This, you know, kind of Chrissy Everett.
• 37:04
Speaker 18: Of course, nobody even knows who she.
• 37:06
  Speaker 7: Is anymore, right?
• 37:07
Speaker 2: Showing your age there, Mr.
• 37:08
  Speaker 3: West.
• 37:08
  Speaker 7: Yeah, I am.
• 37:09
  Speaker 3: I am.
• 37:09
Speaker 18: But my point is, is everybody can play. Everybody can
• 37:13
Speaker 18: put a racket in their hand and play. Everybody can
• 37:15
Speaker 18: give it a try.
• 37:16
Speaker 2: And it's something that older folks, I mean, if you start.
• 37:19
Speaker 18: Out younger, they can— It's a lifetime, obviously, for me.
• 37:24
Speaker 18: And I don't disregard the popularity of pickleball. Pickleball, and
• 37:29
Speaker 18: it has a huge following. Listen, if you look at
• 37:34
Speaker 18: the statistics, tennis has been around for 200 years. Pickleball's
• 37:40
Speaker 18: been around maybe pretty COVID. I mean, COVID kind of
• 37:43
Speaker 18: made pickleball. You can put one on the street. They
• 37:46
Speaker 18: did it down when I used to live in Kanawha City.
• 37:50
Speaker 18: But the point is, is that pickleball caught up with
• 37:53
Speaker 18: tennis in like five years, like with popularity. And anything
• 37:57
Speaker 18: to get exercise is good.
• 37:59
  Speaker 7: You know, anything.
• 38:00
Speaker 18: But this is more traditional. And, you know, you have
• 38:04
Speaker 18: to exert yourself. The court's longer. Balls are faster. But
• 38:10
  Speaker 18: it's just a great sport. And I think the U.S.
• 38:13
Speaker 18: Open really, really. Gave it better exposure. You had a
• 38:18
Speaker 18: lot of Americans getting late, going late in the rounds,
• 38:21
Speaker 18: you know. So that was good. Tiafoe and Ben Shelton,
• 38:26
Speaker 18: you know, in the semis, Americans. Tiafoe, of course, I've
• 38:31
Speaker 18: seen him play at the Delray Open. He's just a
• 38:33
Speaker 18: wonderful guy. But, yeah, I digress. I don't even know
• 38:39
Speaker 18: what the original question was.
• 38:40
Speaker 2: Well, we were just talking about your event. Give us
• 38:42
Speaker 2: the date, the location.
• 38:44
  Speaker 7: The date.
• 38:45
Speaker 2: And the online presence there.
• 38:47
Speaker 18: The online presence is basically UTR, the UTR.com. That's where
• 38:53
Speaker 18: you can register. The online presence is Thunder in the
• 38:56
Speaker 18: Mountains on Facebook. That's really all I have.
• 39:00
Speaker 7: I have the right.
• 39:00
Speaker 18: To the website, but I've never developed it. It's going
• 39:05
Speaker 18: to start Friday morning, the 18th. It'll go all day
• 39:10
Speaker 18: till dark. Then Saturday, pretty much all day till dark.
• 39:14
  Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
• 39:15
Speaker 18: And then Sunday, we'll probably start around 10 a.m. for
• 39:18
Speaker 18: the finals. There is a front and back bracket. And
• 39:23
Speaker 18: there's money, cash money. $ 4, 000 will divide up amongst the people.
• 39:28
Speaker 18: But there's cash money on the backside. And the back
• 39:31
Speaker 18: brackets in the finals is pretty good, too. So we'll
• 39:36
Speaker 18: probably play semis and finals on Sunday.
• 39:39
Speaker 2: And you've got WVU coming.
• 39:40
  Speaker 7: WVU, Marshall.
• 39:41
Speaker 2: Marshall coming. Select players from some of the other MBC schools.
• 39:44
Speaker 18: Yeah, I mean, the ones I know, the ones I
• 39:46
Speaker 18: absolutely know for sure, who are going to be there
• 39:49
Speaker 18: are Marshall WVU and the University of Charleston which we're
• 39:52
Speaker 18: very grateful for for Alec bringing his team because it's
• 39:57
Speaker 18: in their backyard and you know but it you know
• 40:02
Speaker 18: used to be a division one kind of thing but
• 40:05
Speaker 18: now we just want everybody who wants to play and
• 40:08
Speaker 18: I got some high school I got a high school
• 40:09
Speaker 18: girl coming in from Virginia.
• 40:11
  Speaker 7: She's home she's homeschooled she.
• 40:12
Speaker 18: Comes and plays every year okay yeah her UTR is
• 40:16
Speaker 18: half of the colleges but You know, you want to
• 40:19
Speaker 18: be the man, you got to beat the man, right?
• 40:22
Speaker 2: As Ric Flair said.
• 40:23
Speaker 18: Yeah, she doesn't win, but she gets some reps in.
• 40:29
Speaker 7: I'm hoping some of the local high school girls will
• 40:31
  Speaker 7: come out too.
• 40:31
Speaker 2: That could be more important than actually winning.
• 40:33
Speaker 18: No, you learn more losing than you do winning.
• 40:36
Speaker 2: So we're putting a call out now to the area
• 40:38
Speaker 2: high schools that you need to plan to be at
• 40:41
Speaker 2: this thing. Area high school tennis teams, come out or
• 40:43
Speaker 2: you as individuals or whatever, come out for this thing. Rusty,
• 40:45
Speaker 2: it's always a pleasure to have you on the show, man.
• 40:47
Speaker 7: Thank you for letting me Come on.
• 40:49
Speaker 2: And this is the last year for you, right? It's
• 40:51
Speaker 2: going to continue after you, but this is.
• 40:52
Speaker 7: The last year. Yeah, Mindy's going to continue it. She's
• 40:55
Speaker 7: the one who started it, actually, in 2019. So, yeah,
• 40:59
Speaker 7: she's a pro. You know, I'm just an amateur.
• 41:01
  Speaker 12: Okay.
• 41:01
  Speaker 13: All right.
• 41:02
Speaker 2: Rusty Webb, appreciate you being here, man. Thanks a lot.
• 41:04
  Speaker 2: 12 away from 10. We'll take a break and come
• 41:06

• 42:23
Speaker 17: in Nitro. Listen, if you're planning on dragging that old
• 42:25
Speaker 17: worn-out ride up and down the turnpike one more time,
• 42:29
Speaker 17: just don't. This is the time to upgrade and make
• 42:32
Speaker 17: that next trip in comfort and style. This summer, Gene
• 42:35
Speaker 17: and Ryan have loaded down the lot with inventory, both
• 42:38
Speaker 17: new and used, and that means they're sure to have
• 42:40
Speaker 17: the perfect vehicle for you no matter what your summer
• 42:43
Speaker 17: adventures have in store. And you know you're going to
• 42:45
Speaker 17: get the best deal possible at Walker because Gene and
• 42:48
Speaker 17: Ryan built their business the old-fashioned way by making friends.
• 42:51
Speaker 17: There are no gimmicks or games at Walker, just honest,
• 42:54
Speaker 17: fair deals. so don't push that old vehicle beyond its
• 42:57
Speaker 17: limits for another summer or worse. You have to call
• 42:59
Speaker 17: that brother-in-law you hate to come pick up your family
• 43:02
Speaker 17: in Beckley because that car couldn't make it back from
• 43:04
Speaker 17: Myrtle Beach. The new car trucker SUV you've been dreaming
• 43:08
Speaker 17: of is waiting on you now at Walker Chevrolet in
• 43:10
Speaker 17: the shadow of the interstate bridge just off the nitro
• 43:13
Speaker 17: exit of I-64. Walker Chevrolet, making friends one deal at
• 43:17
  Speaker 17: a time.
• 43:17
Speaker 2: 9.51 on a Tuesday morning. I want to invite you
• 43:26
Speaker 2: to join me every Friday morning, 9.06, for the Adopt Me,

• 43:42
Speaker 3: They do it all.
• 43:43
Speaker 2: They're located at 516 D Street in South Charleston.
• 43:46
  Speaker 1: Gary T.
• 43:46
  Speaker 2: Bank Hotline, 304-345-5858.
• 43:47
  Speaker 3: Tony V.
• 43:47
Speaker 2: Taylor, text 304-935-008, 935-5008. Coming up later today, Metro News Midday,
• 43:57
Speaker 2: 13 News, and tonight, live anchor Amanda Barron and me,
• 44:00
Speaker 2: powered by Salango Law. State Treasurer Larry Pack is going
• 44:02
Speaker 2: to stop by. He and his wife making a large
• 44:04
Speaker 2: contribution to his alma mater, WVU Tech, He's going to
• 44:07
Speaker 2: join us. There was big time discussion last night at
• 44:10
Speaker 2: Huntington City Council about flock cameras. Lead story this morning, WVMetroNews.com.
• 44:15
Speaker 2: We'll talk to some of the principals involved in that.
• 44:17
Speaker 2: We're going to have some more AI conversation on the
• 44:19
Speaker 2: show today, or I should say conversation about AI, not
• 44:22
Speaker 2: AI conversation. But anyway, the mayor of the village of Barbersville,
• 44:27
Speaker 2: Chris Tatum, is going to stop by. Gauley season has arrived.
• 44:30
Speaker 2: Getting into that, Jeff Jenkins with the news. Dave Weekly
• 44:32
Speaker 2: has commentary and, of course, your calls and texts on
• 44:34
Speaker 2: Open Line West Virginia. Metro News Midday coming up at
• 44:37
Speaker 2: noon today, powered by Selangor Law. On this show tomorrow,
• 44:40
Speaker 2: our good friend Millie Snyder is here. Talked to Millie
• 44:42
Speaker 2: a couple days ago. She is promising that she's bringing
• 44:44
Speaker 2: guests with her tomorrow. So looking forward to seeing who
• 44:47
Speaker 2: Millie is going to bring in with her. And also
• 44:49
Speaker 2: Trey Jones from West Virginia State is going to stop
• 44:51
Speaker 2: by the show tomorrow as well. So programming notes, and
• 44:57
Speaker 2: I have a couple of texts about this, so I'm
• 44:58
Speaker 2: going to go ahead and get into this. There are
• 44:59
Speaker 2: some changes coming to the network, at least from a
• 45:03
Speaker 2: timing aspect. So get your pencil and paper ready as
• 45:07
Speaker 2: if people still do that. Starting next Monday, here is
• 45:10
Speaker 2: your new Metro News lineup and what you'll be hearing
• 45:13
Speaker 2: here on WCHS. Morning News will air as it normally does, Chris, Daniel,
• 45:18
Speaker 2: and the crew starting at 6, actually starting at 5
• 45:21
Speaker 2: with America in the Morning, and then the Morning News
• 45:23
Speaker 2: at 6. Ask the experts on the day that it runs,
• 45:25
Speaker 2: you know, around 820 or so. And, of course, this show,
• 45:28
Speaker 2: so I'm not going anywhere. Talk Line will air 10
• 45:31
Speaker 2: to noon with Meadows and Wilson. Now, here's where the
• 45:34
Speaker 2: changes start. Metro News Midday will still come on at noon,
• 45:39
Speaker 2: but will end an hour earlier. So starting next week,
• 45:43
Speaker 2: Metro News Midday with Amanda Barron and I will run
• 45:46
Speaker 2: from noon till 2 on Metro News. Not noon to 3,
• 45:50
Speaker 2: it will be noon to 2. Hotline will now air
• 45:53
Speaker 2: from 2 until 5, and Sportsline will expand to 2 hours,
• 45:57
Speaker 2: 5 till 7. So for Midday, same great taste, but
• 46:02
Speaker 2: now with one less hour. So again, Talk Line, Morning News,
• 46:06
Speaker 2: all that stays the same. This show stays the same.
• 46:08
Speaker 2: Talking about the WCHS lineup now and on the network
• 46:10
Speaker 2: as well. Noon till 2, Metro News Midday will air.
• 46:15
Speaker 2: And then from 2 to 5, it will be Hotline.
• 46:18
Speaker 2: And then Sportsline expands to two hours from 5 till 7.
• 46:22
Speaker 2: That will start next Monday. Tech says, I kind of wish,
• 46:28
Speaker 2: going back to the J.B. McCoskey discussion, I kind of
• 46:30
Speaker 2: wish I had an electric vehicle right now.
• 46:31
  Speaker 3: J.B.
• 46:32
Speaker 2: 's daddy, Donald Trump, isn't doing gas and diesel engine,
• 46:35
Speaker 2: folks said. Any favors? And tell JB this isn't England.
• 46:39
Speaker 2: In America, we say line, not queue. He referred to
• 46:42
Speaker 2: things being in the queue. Okay. Is JB stating facts
• 46:48
  Speaker 2: like he's a scientist? Isn't he just some paper-pushing politician?
• 46:51
Speaker 2: Kind of conflicts with his earlier statement that politicians don't
• 46:54
Speaker 2: know diddly about climate science. What does he know about
• 46:56
Speaker 2: science besides what fossil fuel donors tell him? Text, 2019,
• 47:07
Speaker 2: Trump closes down country. Gives everyone $ 1, 800, and now he
• 47:10
Speaker 2: wants to give Americans over $ 13, 000 for different things. Sounds
• 47:14
Speaker 2: like a big socialist program. Text, Dave, I heard the
• 47:21
Speaker 2: afternoon show getting cut by an hour. What's up with that?
• 47:24
Speaker 2: Does WVRC media owner believe the text line is too
• 47:26
Speaker 2: disrespectful to the president? No, no, nothing, nothing like that
• 47:30
Speaker 2: at all. There are nothing at all like that. There
• 47:34
Speaker 2: are some. The main thing about this is it's an
• 47:37
Speaker 2: expansion of Sportsline, which next to, as Fred Persinger will
• 47:41
Speaker 2: tell you, next to High School Game Night, the most
• 47:43
Speaker 2: popular show that we air is Sportsline. And they want
• 47:46
Speaker 2: to give Sportsline folks more time. And so. I mean, again,
• 47:50
Speaker 2: the show, the only difference, and if you listen to
• 47:52
Speaker 2: Metro News Midday, the only difference is it's only going
• 47:54
Speaker 2: to be two hours instead of three. That's pretty much
• 47:57
Speaker 2: the only difference there. And Hotline will run two to five,
• 48:00
Speaker 2: Sportsline now two hours. It all starts next Monday. On
• 48:04
Speaker 2: Escape Room, text says, Escape Room is for something extra
• 48:10
Speaker 2: that GoMart Ballpark and Shawnee Sports Complex can do year-round
• 48:12
Speaker 2: or just in the offseason, especially for people who come
• 48:14
Speaker 2: in from out of town. This tournament's looking for something
• 48:17
Speaker 2: completely different to do. You would think that they both
• 48:20
Speaker 2: have the funds to do it. Texas Sportsline people are
• 48:26
Speaker 2: going to be sad talking about how bad WVU is
• 48:29
Speaker 2: for an additional hour. I don't know about that. Mountaineers
• 48:33
Speaker 2: got a big test this week because they struggled, especially
• 48:36
Speaker 2: in the second half against Coastal Carolina. It was a
• 48:38
Speaker 2: walk in the park, which we knew it would be.
• 48:41
Speaker 2: their game last week, but they're taking on UVA, and
• 48:44
Speaker 2: it actually is going to be in Charlotte Saturday night,
• 48:47
Speaker 2: so they've got a big test coming up this week.
• 48:49
Speaker 2: But Avalon Show on 580 Live brought to you in
• 48:50
Speaker 2: part by Huston's Pizza. This month at Huston's, get a
• 48:52
Speaker 2: large 18-inch pepperoni pizza and an order of meatballs, $ 24.
• 48:55
  Speaker 9: 99.
• 48:56
Speaker 2: Find yours at Huston's for delivery, dining, or pickup at HustonsPizza.com.
• 49:01
Speaker 2: Just in case you didn't know, today is National Voter
• 49:04
Speaker 2: Registration Day. So it may be a good time for
• 49:08
Speaker 2: you to make sure that you're good to go for
• 49:10
Speaker 2: the general election come November the 3rd. And it's real simple.
• 49:14
Speaker 2: Go to the website, GoVoteWV.com. GoVoteWV.com. You can check your registration.
• 49:20
Speaker 2: make sure you're good to go. If you wish to,
• 49:22
Speaker 2: you can change your party. If you need to update
• 49:24
Speaker 2: your address, you can do all that at the website, govotewv.com
• 49:30
Speaker 2: and make sure that you get that taken care of.
• 49:33
Speaker 2: Let me see. Uh, you guys are lying about Tucker Carlson.
• 49:39
Speaker 2: He said, Rogers is unfit for office and didn't endorse
• 49:42
Speaker 2: El Saeed. Uh, explain why you think this is not correct.
• 49:46
Speaker 2: If Rogers is deranged enough to think the jihadists are
• 49:49
Speaker 2: evil for murdering enough Americans to fill a division three
• 49:51
Speaker 2: hockey arena, but that's the Pentagon deserves two thumbs up
• 49:54
Speaker 2: for killing enough people to pack Ohio state football stadium
• 49:57
Speaker 2: multiple times in the Iraqi war. He could not possibly
• 50:00
Speaker 2: have the judgment necessary to adequately serve the needs of
• 50:02
Speaker 2: American voters. Um, All right, so that's that. Jeff Jenkins
• 50:09
Speaker 2: with the story this morning, WVMetroNews.com. Remember last year, right
• 50:14
Speaker 2: around this time, in fact, middle of September, there were,
• 50:17
Speaker 2: I believe it was 35 overdose cases in Charleston within
• 50:21
Speaker 2: a matter of a couple days. Now, thankfully, no one died,
• 50:24
Speaker 2: but there were 35 cases. And the guy behind it,
• 50:28
Speaker 2: one Anton Marcel Jeffries, pleaded guilty yesterday in a Kanawha
• 50:35
Speaker 2: County courtroom. Apparently, the drugs he was dealing, and again,
• 50:38
Speaker 2: we have the story posted at wvmetronews.com. According to court records,
• 50:42
Speaker 2: fentanyl laced with a tranquilizer known as the zombie drug. Now,
• 50:48
Speaker 2: I'm not going to try to get into those who
• 50:50
Speaker 2: suffer from addiction. I've had many friends and family members
• 50:54
Speaker 2: that have, but if it's called the zombie drug, chances
• 50:56
Speaker 2: are I'm not interested in just saying. So he pled
• 51:00
Speaker 2: to a misdemeanor, which is not necessarily a bad thing
• 51:04
Speaker 2: if you want real justice to be served, because basically
• 51:06
Speaker 2: it means next up will be federal charges. We have
• 51:08
Speaker 2: a story posted about that, wvmetronews.com. Tex really missed the
• 51:13
Speaker 2: nine-hour game day broadcast of pregame and postgame that Metro
• 51:16
Speaker 2: News used to do. Any chance of that ever coming back?
• 51:19
Speaker 2: I'm not in the programming department here, but I can
• 51:21
Speaker 2: say probably not. Not in that form. Now, around the state...
• 51:25
Speaker 2: There are some changes coming with programming as it relates
• 51:27
Speaker 2: to WVU, and we talked about that about a month
• 51:30
Speaker 2: or so ago. So stay tuned. That's all I got
• 51:32
Speaker 2: to say about that. How you doing, Mr. Meadows? Doing great, sir.
• 51:35
  Speaker 10: How are you?
• 51:36
Speaker 2: What you got on the show today?
• 51:37
  Speaker 1: J.B.
• 51:37
Speaker 8: McCuskey, 1006. We'll talk about EPA rollbacks. Well, you know,
• 51:41
Speaker 8: we're going to have him back again. We'll talk about that.
• 51:43
Speaker 8: And it may be open mic day with him. You know,
• 51:44
Speaker 8: he likes to tell a joke or two. We'll see
• 51:46
Speaker 8: if they're any good. Conservative columnist Mike McKenna at 1033
• 51:50
Speaker 8: on EPA AI. We'll check in on the latest on
• 51:52
Speaker 8: that Brook High principal and what he did in the
• 51:54
Speaker 8: locker room. Jack Carlson on last night's Huntington City Council
• 51:57
Speaker 8: meeting over flock cams.
• 51:58
Speaker 2: That and much, much more. All right. I'll see you
• 52:01
Speaker 2: later today on Metro News Midday for producer Ryan Nicholson.
• 52:03
Speaker 2: Thank you so much.
• 52:04
  Speaker 9: See you later.
• 52:05
Speaker 2: Until then, have fun and love somebody.
• 52:21
Speaker 1: By WCHS AM 96.5 FM Charleston and 104.5 Crosslanes. A
• 52:26
Speaker 1: WVRC media station. We're proud to live here too.
