- 1:36Speaker 2: It's time now for Johnny Dollar, Pat mccrack and Johnny Universal. Oh, hi, bad, Johnny.
- 1:45Speaker 3: You handle a lot of difficult cases for the company.
- 1:48Speaker 3: As we represent You're done a magnificent job, save some
- 1:51Speaker 3: of them a lot of money. Sometimes nip things in
- 1:53Speaker 3: the bund even before they've happened bad. And there have
- 1:55Speaker 3: been times when you've given up personal plans to take
- 1:58Speaker 3: them on at a moment's notice and not question.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Listen, that boys you're beating around is getting pretty big,
- 2:03Speaker 2: all right.
- 2:03Speaker 3: And I'll get to the point, Johnny, why don't you
- 2:06Speaker 3: take yourself a holiday at company expense like Mohave Resort
- 2:10Speaker 3: maybe where.
- 2:10Speaker 2: I understand you love to fish at company expense. Huh okay, Pratt,
- 2:14Speaker 2: I'll grab the first plane, good boy. But brother, just waiting.
- 2:17Speaker 2: You see the expense account I pile up for you,
- 2:19Speaker 2: because if I ever smelled a rat, believe me, it's
- 2:22Speaker 2: now Bob Bailey in the Exciting Adventures of the Man
- 2:33Speaker 2: with the Action Packed Expense Account America's fabulous freelance insurance investigator.
- 2:37Speaker 2: That's truly Johnny Dollar, No Act one, if yours truly
- 2:46Speaker 2: Johnny Dollar. Expense accounts submitted by a special investigator Johnny
- 3:04Speaker 2: Dollar to the Universal Adjustment Bureau Home Office Hertford, Connecticut.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Following an account of expenses incurred during my investigation of
- 3:11Speaker 2: the Wayward Trout matter expense account adam one one hundred
- 3:19Speaker 2: and seventy four to fifty plain Fair, Hertford to Los
- 3:21Speaker 2: Angeles and Los Angeles to Las Vegas. I had them
- 3:23Speaker 2: two fifty bucks deposit on a rental car. I headed
- 3:26Speaker 2: south on Route ninety five the Mohabi Desert, thousands of
- 3:34Speaker 2: square miles of sand, sun bleached gravel, and rock of cactus, sage,
- 3:38Speaker 2: and Joshua trees, high flat maces, towering crags, countless trails
- 3:44Speaker 2: leading off from the highway, long abandoned roads leading up
- 3:47Speaker 2: into the harsh bleak mountains, with their promise of infinite
- 3:50Speaker 2: wealth to the prospectors who scratched away in a hungry
- 3:52Speaker 2: search for silver and gold. And who knows, perhaps some
- 3:55Speaker 2: of these were trails of the pioneers who beat a
- 3:57Speaker 2: tortuous path westward to the great Pacific, oh with their
- 4:00Speaker 2: oxen and heavy wagons, were lucky if they made six
- 4:03Speaker 2: miles a day. Yet here I was cruising along in
- 4:05Speaker 2: an easy sixty miles an hour, and above me a
- 4:08Speaker 2: jet plain lazily tearing off six hundred miles an hour. Yeah,
- 4:12Speaker 2: it made me think about the men who lived in
- 4:14Speaker 2: struggled here, the men who died of hunger and thirst,
- 4:17Speaker 2: following the same path I was taking, never knowing that
- 4:20Speaker 2: only a few miles away, beyond the mountains was the
- 4:22Speaker 2: mighty Colorado water, food and life for those lucky enough
- 4:25Speaker 2: to find it. But let's to get the more practical
- 4:28Speaker 2: things like Davis Dam and huge Lake Mohabbee on the
- 4:31Speaker 2: east bank at the lower end Lake Mohabi Resort with
- 4:33Speaker 2: its clean modern cabins, boat house, dock and harbor everything
- 4:36Speaker 2: for a fisherman. It was after nine pm when I
- 4:39Speaker 2: pulled in. My old friend, Buster Favor was waiting for me.
- 4:42Speaker 4: Bye, Golly, Johnny, I'm glad.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Yeah, same here, Busting HII. Before you start on why
- 4:48Speaker 2: I am here? How's the fishing?
- 4:50Speaker 5: Remember Ham Pratt general manager Dooe? How is he went
- 4:53Speaker 5: out three days in a row, got three limits five
- 4:55Speaker 5: six seven pounderies?
- 4:56Speaker 6: Oh?
- 4:57Speaker 2: And I have to come here on business.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Yeah, but as soon as you cleared up, you and
- 5:00Speaker 4: I are going to do some fishing.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Oh, it may be better. And now what's the problem.
- 5:03Speaker 4: Oh, let me take your back.
- 5:06Speaker 5: You're in number eight, Okay, I put you right next
- 5:08Speaker 5: to mister Hatch Hatch, old time confidence man Johnny and
- 5:12Speaker 5: just playing big time thief.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Oh, Gordon Hatch, that's the one you seperate up in
- 5:17Speaker 2: San Francisco.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Over in Reno, Las Vegas too. But they ran him out.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Sure, sure he served a couple of short stretches for
- 5:24Speaker 2: petty theft things like that, but they can never nail
- 5:26Speaker 2: him for anything big.
- 5:27Speaker 5: That's right, shut down, Yeah, what's he doing here? Ordinarily
- 5:32Speaker 5: we'd give a man like that some excuse about.
- 5:34Speaker 4: Being full of something like that.
- 5:35Speaker 2: I should think so.
- 5:36Speaker 4: But Haim and I decided if we let him stay
- 5:38Speaker 4: and with somebody like.
- 5:39Speaker 5: You here, well maybe we could do a kind of
- 5:42Speaker 5: public service.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Keep talking ab us here.
- 5:44Speaker 5: Well, Tuesday morning I got a call from some wealthy
- 5:47Speaker 5: folks in Los Angeles. They wanted the accommodations for themselves
- 5:50Speaker 5: and their wives beginning tonight.
- 5:52Speaker 4: They're doing now.
- 5:53Speaker 5: So Tuesday afternoon, this Gordon Hatch came barreling, and my
- 5:58Speaker 5: wife Marilyn, not knowing who he was, to put him
- 6:00Speaker 5: in number seven.
- 6:01Speaker 4: What are you getting at, buster, Well, those folks from.
- 6:03Speaker 5: LA have been here before, Johnny, and the women always
- 6:06Speaker 5: come with enough furs and.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Jewelry a fishing resort.
- 6:09Speaker 5: Well, you see every night they drive up to Vegas
- 6:12Speaker 5: to gamble and take in the fancy night spot.
- 6:15Speaker 2: But what makes you think Hatch would come here just
- 6:17Speaker 2: because of them?
- 6:18Speaker 5: One of them is a lawyer that got him sent
- 6:20Speaker 5: up for embezzlement once, and Hatch always swore that someday
- 6:23Speaker 5: he'd get even.
- 6:25Speaker 4: I don't think he'd try any rough stuff anything like that.
- 6:28Speaker 4: He isn't the type. It Well, that's why I called Hartford.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Well, what's the insurance, Hango?
- 6:34Speaker 5: There isn't any unless a lot of heavily insured jewelry
- 6:38Speaker 5: suddenly disappears from around here, and your man in Hartford
- 6:42Speaker 5: was willing to play along with that. Yeah, I see,
- 6:44Speaker 5: well so do I. I see we have another guest buster,
- 6:48Speaker 5: How do you do? My name is Gordon Hatch. Mister Hatch,
- 6:51Speaker 5: this is Johnny Dollar. He's come for a few days
- 6:53Speaker 5: fishing the same as you.
- 6:54Speaker 7: Excellent, We must go out together, mister Dolla. I found
- 6:57Speaker 7: a couple of wonderful spots.
- 6:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I understand you had pretty good.
- 7:00Speaker 7: I didn't hamp Pratt tell you about the big one
- 7:02Speaker 7: I got over in their sculpture rock nearly ten pounds.
- 7:05Speaker 7: I'm keeping him in a live box so I can
- 7:07Speaker 7: take him back to Los.
- 7:08Speaker 6: Angeles and have him stuffed.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Live box.
- 7:10Speaker 5: Yes, a big short of box made a heavy screen, Johnny.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Leave it in the water. It'll keep the fish alive
- 7:15Speaker 4: for a day.
- 7:16Speaker 2: That's right. Well, aren't you afraid somebody will walk off
- 7:19Speaker 2: with them?
- 7:19Speaker 6: All the nice people who come to this nice place.
- 7:21Speaker 6: Of course not.
- 7:23Speaker 7: And as a fisherman, I'm sure you know that even
- 7:25Speaker 7: the worst crook in the world wouldn't touch another man's catch.
- 7:28Speaker 5: Uh yeah, Look, excuse me, I guess some cars coming
- 7:33Speaker 5: down the road must be the folks how I'm expecting.
- 7:36Speaker 7: Of course, bus I'll see you later, right, any plans
- 7:39Speaker 7: for the evening, mister Dollar, Oh not particularly, I'm a
- 7:42Speaker 7: little tired. And then come along into my cabin next door.
- 7:45Speaker 7: That's an excellent Scotch, plenty of soda. While I've had
- 7:48Speaker 7: a pretty long day, book, we can relax and regale
- 7:50Speaker 7: each other with paul tales about the big fish we've
- 7:52Speaker 7: caught here and there.
- 7:54Speaker 6: After all, there wasn't anything else to do out here
- 7:56Speaker 6: of an.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Evening, I kind of thought I'd wander down to the
- 7:58Speaker 2: dock and see if Ham pratt.
- 8:00Speaker 7: I'll save that for tomorrow. I'll come along, mister Dolla.
- 8:02Speaker 7: I won't take no for an answer.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Actually, I was glad for the invitation. I wanted to
- 8:11Speaker 2: know more about this man, sound him out if possible,
- 8:13Speaker 2: but his real reason for being here. As it turned
- 8:16Speaker 2: outways been a very pleasant evening talking entirely about fishing.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Only once in answer to a pretty direct question that
- 8:22Speaker 2: you speak about.
- 8:23Speaker 7: What I wanted him. So that is all water over
- 8:25Speaker 7: the dam, mister Dona. It's possible to make amends for
- 8:28Speaker 7: some of the should we say, questionable things I may
- 8:31Speaker 7: have done in the past, so I can only assure
- 8:34Speaker 7: you that I'm sincerely trying to make such amends.
- 8:37Speaker 6: Please please don't embarrass me this way again.
- 8:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:42Speaker 7: Sorry, Oh tomorrow we'll go fishing. Well, I'll not only
- 8:45Speaker 7: take you to one of the hottest spots on the lake,
- 8:47Speaker 7: but i'll show you the beauties I have in the
- 8:49Speaker 7: live box.
- 8:50Speaker 2: You'll turn green with them fishing. I kept, well, it's
- 8:53Speaker 2: been a pretty long day and I really should hit
- 8:55Speaker 2: the sack.
- 8:57Speaker 7: Oh, here we go, bottom's up and may tomorrow. I'll
- 9:00Speaker 7: bring us each a limit. Then I will drink to.
- 9:06Speaker 6: There we are and I'll see you at the crack
- 9:08Speaker 6: of dawn.
- 9:09Speaker 7: Sleep well, right, right, wrong?
- 9:16Speaker 2: Sure, I was tired. It had been a long day,
- 9:19Speaker 2: but not long enough to make me drop off to sleep.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Almost before I could get out of my clothes that night,
- 9:24Speaker 2: cab id had a lot more than scotch in it. Yeah,
- 9:28Speaker 2: I'd fallen for one of the oldest tricks in the world,
- 9:30Speaker 2: and until I woke up, anything could happen. Act two
- 9:41Speaker 2: of yours, truly, Johnny Dollar in.
- 9:43Speaker 8: A moment, and now for another episode in the life
- 9:46Speaker 8: of Sergeant Donald bell Weather, my husband, Donald Donald Sellergeant
- 10:02Speaker 8: Donald's Bellweather.
- 10:05Speaker 4: Please read?
- 10:05Speaker 9: But can't you see I'm absorbed in the sports section.
- 10:08Speaker 10: So I see, who's the girl on the bikini?
- 10:11Speaker 6: A shot putter?
- 10:12Speaker 9: Look what's the difference if she's an athlete or a
- 10:15Speaker 9: Hollywood celebrity?
- 10:16Speaker 2: Why do you insist on disturbing me while I'm reading?
- 10:19Speaker 4: Do you drop off the launder this morning? Yes?
- 10:21Speaker 10: Did you nail my letters?
- 10:22Speaker 4: Yes? I mailed the letters.
- 10:24Speaker 8: Did you know that angry, brooding and impatient drivers are
- 10:27Speaker 8: a major cause of many accidents?
- 10:29Speaker 4: Yes?
- 10:29Speaker 8: I know why I said angry or impatient drivers behind
- 10:33Speaker 8: the wheel caused many serious accidents and when the driver
- 10:37Speaker 8: is emotionally upset, you more have to make an irrational
- 10:40Speaker 8: decision or or take unnecessary chance.
- 10:43Speaker 9: My dear wife, you ought to know by this time
- 10:46Speaker 9: that I am a well adjusted individual. I have complete
- 10:49Speaker 9: control over my emotion.
- 10:51Speaker 10: You didn't have this morning.
- 10:53Speaker 6: Just because I burned the toast.
- 10:54Speaker 8: You stormed out of the house in a fit of rage.
- 10:57Speaker 6: You didn't even kiss me goodbye.
- 10:59Speaker 4: You're determined to pick a quarrel with me?
- 11:01Speaker 6: Is that No? I just want you to drive safely.
- 11:04Speaker 8: I don't want you to be under any emotional stream
- 11:06Speaker 8: when you drive a car.
- 11:08Speaker 10: I want you to return home safely. I love you.
- 11:13Speaker 9: Come here, woman, Yes, son, you sit right here on
- 11:18Speaker 9: my lap, and I'll give you that kiss you missed
- 11:20Speaker 9: this morning.
- 11:21Speaker 8: And you promise you'll never again drive a car when
- 11:24Speaker 8: you're angry.
- 11:25Speaker 4: I promise.
- 11:27Speaker 11: That's my donald, that's my doll.
- 11:40Speaker 2: And now back too, of yours, truly, Johnny Dollar and
- 11:43Speaker 2: the wayward trouts matter? Oh it's fuster. You all right
- 12:02Speaker 2: in there, Johnny Ooh sure, sure, sure, I'm all right
- 12:05Speaker 2: here here. Holy what time is it anyway?
- 12:09Speaker 4: Almost nine o'clock? Oh? Look at those big red hats
- 12:13Speaker 4: you weren't kidding.
- 12:14Speaker 2: I feel as though I where's Gordon.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Hatch without fishing at the crack had done?
- 12:18Speaker 5: I said you'd promise to go with him, but he
- 12:20Speaker 5: pounded on your door and finally gave up.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Shanny, you look like you uster the folks you were
- 12:25Speaker 2: expecting in from Los Angeles.
- 12:27Speaker 5: Yeah, they came right after I left you and mister
- 12:29Speaker 5: Hatch last night, six of them. I figured you wanted
- 12:32Speaker 5: to be alone with Hats to sort of feel a mouse.
- 12:34Speaker 5: Yeah I did. But is everything all right? Yes, so
- 12:36Speaker 5: far as I know. The point is, did you learn
- 12:38Speaker 5: anything from mister Hatch last night? Only that he claims
- 12:41Speaker 5: to have turned over a new leaf? Is now the
- 12:43Speaker 5: soul of integrity?
- 12:44Speaker 4: Yeah? But I wonder you say he's not fishing.
- 12:46Speaker 2: That's right where he went.
- 12:49Speaker 5: Well, one of his favorite holes, what I told him about,
- 12:51Speaker 5: is in the big basin about ten miles up the lake.
- 12:53Speaker 6: What about the folks from LA there's still asleep.
- 12:55Speaker 5: In their cabins. Look, Johnny, like I told you, hatchesn't
- 13:00Speaker 5: the kind of trying to rough stuff, even against mister Fellows,
- 13:02Speaker 5: a lawyer who sent him up one time.
- 13:04Speaker 2: And he's here with that party.
- 13:05Speaker 4: He'sn't one that organized.
- 13:06Speaker 5: It, made the reservations. Now listen, Johnny, I may be
- 13:10Speaker 5: all wrong about in spite.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Of his threat to get even with Fellows.
- 13:13Speaker 5: Well, I mean maybe he's gone straight. He well, he
- 13:15Speaker 5: certainly acts like agnized enough guy weren't. The only thing
- 13:19Speaker 5: I could do was keep an eye on him. If
- 13:20Speaker 5: he makes a play, I'll nab him. If he doesn't, well,
- 13:23Speaker 5: my trip out here will have been wasted.
- 13:25Speaker 4: Wasted. I thought you and I were going to do
- 13:27Speaker 4: some fishing.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Oh that's different. Oh yeah, I better get some breakfast
- 13:32Speaker 2: in me.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:32Speaker 5: Sure, I'll tell Mary over the cafe to have it
- 13:34Speaker 5: ready for you.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, Buster Sonny signed up with plenty of strong,
- 13:37Speaker 2: dark black coffee. My head felt like it might split
- 13:47Speaker 2: open any seconds, and I was more sure than there
- 13:49Speaker 2: were that Hatch had poured me up mickey last night,
- 13:52Speaker 2: yet he had expected me to go out on the
- 13:54Speaker 2: lake with him this morning. Must have been nearly ten
- 13:57Speaker 2: am by the time I showered, shaved, dressed, and joined
- 13:59Speaker 2: Buster at the little cafe, already half a dozen early
- 14:02Speaker 2: morning angrys to come back to boast about their catches
- 14:04Speaker 2: and the big ones that got away.
- 14:06Speaker 3: Yeah, now do to tell us sold Buster with that
- 14:09Speaker 3: big one foster he wants to have been eight.
- 14:11Speaker 10: And half pounds.
- 14:12Speaker 4: Yeah it was, mister hect.
- 14:14Speaker 6: Well a bridge.
- 14:14Speaker 5: I lost him was in the second coldest side of
- 14:17Speaker 5: the damn by the big square Rod. I can call
- 14:19Speaker 5: this side of the damn to do saying that's right
- 14:21Speaker 5: right next to the big square ride German.
- 14:23Speaker 6: What great spot worst Pride's after the.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I heard that.
- 14:26Speaker 6: How do you tell us so about that spot? Buster,
- 14:29Speaker 6: mister good say Henry, Henry, I want to tell you
- 14:32Speaker 6: about the prize time.
- 14:33Speaker 4: Feeling any better? Johnny?
- 14:35Speaker 2: Yeah much? I listen. If Gordon Hatch is up here
- 14:38Speaker 2: after the money and jewelry of mister Fellows, his party,
- 14:41Speaker 2: or for any reason all connected with her, I think
- 14:43Speaker 2: you and I had better hop into a boat.
- 14:45Speaker 4: Oh yes, miss Fellows. He good morning.
- 14:47Speaker 10: He's come outside quickly one Johnny.
- 14:49Speaker 5: Right, miss Fellows. This is Johnny Dowler, our friend of mine,
- 14:52Speaker 5: especially investigator.
- 14:53Speaker 10: Oh thank goodness you're here, mister Buster.
- 14:56Speaker 12: We'd been robbed when missus Fellows sometime during the night
- 15:00Speaker 12: odd jewelry, Missus Harkins, and missus Peterson's and mine. Why
- 15:03Speaker 12: it must be hundreds of thousands of dollars worth my
- 15:05Speaker 12: diamond bruch al Lows right, yes, Ralph, Oh, this is
- 15:09Speaker 12: mister Dollar, and he's some kind of an investigator.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Good, I've heard of you Dollar.
- 15:13Speaker 10: I told him Ralph about the jewelry.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Yeah, well, whoever did it got our money too?
- 15:17Speaker 4: Well?
- 15:17Speaker 2: We brought along the gamble in Vegas. Must be over
- 15:20Speaker 2: twenty thousand. Now we managed to sneak into our cabins.
- 15:23Speaker 10: And without waking us too.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Of course, we were pretty tired last.
- 15:28Speaker 10: Mister Pratt.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Oh, what seems to be Jeremy glad to see you?
- 15:33Speaker 2: Oh are you Ham? I got some bad news for you.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Yeah, Ham, it looks like he's done it. Oh, Gordon Hatch.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Yeah, got to make a thorough search of his cabin.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Gordon Hatch. Oh no, I'm afraid so great, Scott so Ham.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Look at his luggage, John, of the mattresses, anywhere else
- 15:49Speaker 2: you can think of it? Right, mister Dollar, do you
- 15:51Speaker 2: mean to say that Gordon Hatch is here at this pub? Better?
- 15:54Speaker 2: Look in his car too, Ham, under the car and
- 15:56Speaker 2: the upholstery. Look here now, mister Dollar. Sorry, mister Fellows,
- 15:59Speaker 2: I'll have to talk to you later. Come on, Buster,
- 16:00Speaker 2: you and I are going for a boat ride. Act
- 16:17Speaker 2: three of yours, truly, Johnny Dollar in a moment.
- 16:21Speaker 5: Do you know who Uncle Sam's lawyer is. If your
- 16:25Speaker 5: answer is the Attorney General, you're absolutely right. But being
- 16:30Speaker 5: legal advisor to the president and other governmental agencies is
- 16:34Speaker 5: only part of his job. His main task is running
- 16:38Speaker 5: the Department of Justice, which makes sure that the laws
- 16:41Speaker 5: passed by Congress are carried out and that lawyers are
- 16:45Speaker 5: available when the government must be represented in court. Let
- 16:50Speaker 5: me give you an example. Suppose there is some question
- 16:54Speaker 5: concerning the amount or kind of tax you should pay,
- 16:58Speaker 5: or suppose you and the government don't agree as to
- 17:01Speaker 5: which of you own certain land. That's when the Department
- 17:04Speaker 5: of Justice steps in to represent the government side of
- 17:07Speaker 5: the case. If anyone is brought to trial for counterfeiting, smuggling,
- 17:13Speaker 5: gold hoarding, or passport forging, the Department of Justice prosecutes

- 17:24Speaker 5: And all of this activity is the responsibility of an

- 17:32Speaker 5: as it is the duty of the United States Government
- 17:35Speaker 5: to protect each and every one of you, it is
- 17:38Speaker 5: the duty of the Attorney General to protect the Government
- 17:41Speaker 5: of the United States, now Act three of yours, truly,
- 17:47Speaker 5: Johnny Dollar and the wayward trout matter.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Lake Mohammy was Colmas a millpot buster made the spray
- 18:09Speaker 2: flying as we had it almost due north, up toward
- 18:11Speaker 2: the big basin, But we didn't have to go that far.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Busted with the sharpest eyes have ever known. Spot of
- 18:16Speaker 2: the ripples from the wake of a boat that had
- 18:17Speaker 2: pulled into a deep winding coal on the Arizona side.
- 18:20Speaker 5: Angon, Johnny, looks to me like hatches boat went in
- 18:23Speaker 5: that goat.
- 18:23Speaker 2: You mean to say, you can tell what boat made
- 18:25Speaker 2: that wake?
- 18:26Speaker 4: Plant of a.
- 18:27Speaker 5: Pair of footprints in the sand when the lake is
- 18:29Speaker 5: calm like this, The first.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Thing I want to do is inspect that boat of his.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Do you think he might have the jewelry and money
- 18:35Speaker 2: on board? Ah, he's too smart to have left him
- 18:37Speaker 2: around the cabin or his car.
- 18:39Speaker 5: Look, hatch his boat in there all right, tied up,
- 18:42Speaker 5: that low rocky ledge that sticks out.
- 18:44Speaker 2: What under the sun is he doing there between his
- 18:46Speaker 2: boat and that lead.
- 18:47Speaker 5: It looks to me like he's trying to hide something
- 18:49Speaker 5: there in the water.
- 18:50Speaker 4: We will soon find out.
- 18:56Speaker 6: Oh, busts a dollar. It looks like you've caught me
- 18:59Speaker 6: in the ax.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, it kind of looks that way, doesn't it, Hatch.
- 19:05Speaker 2: What were you so busy shoving down on the water
- 19:08Speaker 2: between your boat and that ledge when we pulled.
- 19:10Speaker 7: Out, Well, I figured no one would find it here,
- 19:12Speaker 7: mister Dolly, But I decided to move the live box
- 19:15Speaker 7: into this hidden cove when I first.
- 19:17Speaker 6: Came out this morning, the live box.
- 19:20Speaker 7: After all, it was you who warned me someone might
- 19:22Speaker 7: try to steal some of these beautiful fish I've caught,
- 19:25Speaker 7: and I'm keeping.
- 19:25Speaker 6: Alive in it. But as long as you found me out,
- 19:29Speaker 6: go here.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Take a look at you?
- 19:35Speaker 6: Yeah, look at them. Ever see such a nice mess
- 19:38Speaker 6: of paths in your life?
- 19:40Speaker 2: Yeah, they're beauty.
- 19:42Speaker 7: And that trout on the bottom, I got him way
- 19:44Speaker 7: up the lake yesterday morning. It must be ten pounds.
- 19:47Speaker 5: That's the one you plan to have stuff, that's the one. Well,
- 19:49Speaker 5: you better have it done pretty soon. He looks dead
- 19:51Speaker 5: to me.
- 19:52Speaker 7: Yes, he was this way when I came out this morning.
- 19:54Speaker 7: So when I'm through fishing today, I'll head back to
- 19:57Speaker 7: La with him to a taxadas.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Hatch, there's something I want to tell to you.
- 20:00Speaker 6: I know, Dollar, but it's.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Your own faults.
- 20:03Speaker 7: I pound it on your door till I thought i'd
- 20:04Speaker 7: wake the day.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Oh no, no, that isn't.
- 20:06Speaker 7: However, since you're here now, well why not keep off
- 20:09Speaker 7: fishing date now, mister hatch when you find us though,
- 20:12Speaker 7: I don't have an extra rod in my boat.
- 20:13Speaker 4: Oh come on, Johnny, I'll give you one on my
- 20:15Speaker 4: boat rodden real.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, sure.
- 20:18Speaker 6: Okay, Well, I'll take you to fishing spots.
- 20:20Speaker 5: Even Buster doesn't know about the sign of the jewels
- 20:23Speaker 5: and stuff on the boat.
- 20:24Speaker 4: Johnny even went through his tackle box. Well maybe he's
- 20:28Speaker 4: hidden the stuff somewhere along as if he's the one
- 20:30Speaker 4: who took it.
- 20:31Speaker 2: He looks and talks, is innocent as a baby. So
- 20:34Speaker 2: the only thing I can do is keep an eye
- 20:36Speaker 2: on him and try to feel him out.
- 20:38Speaker 6: By time's a wasting.
- 20:39Speaker 4: Oh here, Johnny, you try this rod on.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Precise Ah, that looks good to me, and it's long.
- 20:45Speaker 4: A couple of these.
- 20:45Speaker 5: Fast strake mental hooks, if anything, they'll get you a
- 20:48Speaker 5: big best they sure will.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe a trot like the one that mister.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Let's matter, Johnny, come on, Mustard, what what's the matter.
- 20:59Speaker 6: Well, it's about time.
- 21:00Speaker 7: What were you do gabbing about over there?
- 21:02Speaker 2: Say, hatch, I want another look in the live box
- 21:05Speaker 2: at that big trout.
- 21:06Speaker 4: I don't blame you a bit.
- 21:08Speaker 6: Step into the boat now, raise the top so you
- 21:10Speaker 6: can really see.
- 21:11Speaker 2: No, I think I'll pull a whole contraption up here on.
- 21:13Speaker 6: The Ledge's take a fish out of the water.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Well you said that trout was dead early this morning.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Then why is he on the bottom of this thing?
- 21:21Speaker 2: Why isn't he floating belly up here? Now? I don't know,
- 21:25Speaker 2: but I don't see. Wait, what are you doing?
- 21:28Speaker 6: Oh the beautiful fish in there? Or dial like the trout?
- 21:30Speaker 11: Oh?
- 21:30Speaker 2: I just want a real close look at that trout.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Just a minute, These live ones a hole still long
- 21:36Speaker 2: enough for me to in the water. Yeah we are,

- 21:51Speaker 2: diamond broach? No wonder you decided to get back to
- 21:55Speaker 2: La and not to stuff this trout, but to unstuff him.
- 21:59Speaker 2: And how about this price emeralds, aren't they? And look
- 22:02Speaker 2: at these nice new one hundred dollars bills a bit.
- 22:04Speaker 6: What Perhaps you're holding more than money and jewels in
- 22:07Speaker 6: your hand.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Dollar, put that thing away.
- 22:09Speaker 7: I'm talking about your life, and I won't hesitate to
- 22:11Speaker 7: pull this trigger unless you toust that money and those
- 22:14Speaker 7: jewels into this boat, this hat, put it down, Buster,
- 22:18Speaker 7: I'll shoot you too, trust me.

- 22:39Speaker 5: You hadn't hit him in the face with that wet fish, Johnny,

- 27:14Speaker 13: and now let's get back into the show.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Welcome back, a very good story. I always figured that
- 27:25Speaker 1: the live box was going to be part of the solution,
- 27:32Speaker 1: and I think that they really did surprise me though,
- 27:37Speaker 1: because when they found the live box was empty, I
- 27:40Speaker 1: was really confused. But the uh twist with the fish
- 27:46Speaker 1: that was really really clever, So I was pleasantly surprised
- 27:50Speaker 1: in a very solid ending to this story. I was
- 27:53Speaker 1: almost expecting a logical explanation and the former crook isn't
- 27:58Speaker 1: guilty because we have had those sort of episodes. But
- 28:02Speaker 1: I guess that does speak to the variety of the plots,
- 28:06Speaker 1: that it's not always something criminal, and that definitely leaves
- 28:13Speaker 1: room for mystery even with this somewhat more limited time
- 28:17Speaker 1: that these episodes of Johnny Dollar has all right, well,
