Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: 1%, that's the number.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: 1.1% of American adults are transgender.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Roughly one in 90 people.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: And yet that's one of the loudest fights in the country right now.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: Schools, sports, medicine, elections, billions of dollars, endless airtime, and you think I'm trying to pick a fight, I'm not, I'm trying to make a point.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: For one in ninety.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: So I want to ask a question today, and then I want to actually answer it, not just float it and walk away.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: What does that number, why does the number, any number, never match the actual noise?
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: Well, why does a tiny group, and it doesn't have to be this, it can be anything, eat the whole spotlight while the actual story sits in the dark?
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: And what does this have to do with a machine I use every single day?
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Artificial intelligence that is now writing half of the headlines you scroll past.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: So stay with me on this because at the end of this, you're gonna see the trick.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: And once you see it, you're not gonna be able to unsee it.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: So let me start with the real numbers because they tell a different story than the one that you're being sold.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Gallup, 2025, most watched measure of this in the country.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: 9% of American adults identify as something other than heterosexual.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Okay, under 10%, 9%.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Not a majority, not a third, not even close to a quarter, but 9%.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: And here's where this gets interesting.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: And of course, if you're part of the 9%, it means the world to you, but inside that 9%, the biggest group by far is not who you would think.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: It's bisexual women under 30.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: How interesting.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: That's the biggest part of the group.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: 5.3% of all American adults are bisexual.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: That's more than half of the entire group.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: Gay men, 1.6%, lesbians, 1.4%, transgender, 1.1%.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Now sit with that for just a second.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: The group that takes up the most political oxygen in America is the smallest one on the list.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: And the group that's actually driving the numbers up, young bisexual women under 30 gets almost no airtime at all.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Nobody's gonna go on cable news right now to fight about young bisexual women under 30.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Because they're not useful.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: That's the whole answer.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: I mean they are.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna go there, but let me say it plainly.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Airtime doesn't track size.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Airtime, well, it tracks usefulness.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: A topic gets loud not because a lot of people are in it.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: It gets loud because somebody can use it.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: They can use it to raise money, they can use it to win a vote, they can use it to keep you scared or angry or scrolling.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: The 1.1% is not loud because it's big, it's loud because it's a perfect tool.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: It touches kids, it touches schools, it touches sports and medicine and religion.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Every one of those is a nerve.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: And when you press on a nerve, people react.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: They donate, they share, they vote, they click, they spend time.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: So one raises money defending it, the other side raises money attacking it, and 1.1% because a sim becomes a symbol that both sides use to pull cash and attention.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: They extract it right out of you.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Meanwhile, the boring, statistically large group sits there untouched because, well, you can't build a war machine out of something nobody is afraid of.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: That's the first thing I want you to understand.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: The size of a group and the amount of fighting about it are almost completely unrelated.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: The volume has never been about the math.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: Now, here's the turn because if you think that distortion was bad before, wait till you see what's running the engine right now.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: The machine that decides what gets loud just got an upgrade.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: And it's the same machine I deploy in my businesses every day.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: Not for the same point.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: I use it for different things, but artificial intelligence is now writing, raking, and recommending a massive share of what you see online, almost 100%.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: And AI doesn't care what's true.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: AI cares what's hold your holds your attention.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: AI isn't doing it on its own.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: It's being implemented by human beings wanting to get your attention.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: That's what it's trained to do.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: That's what they train it to do to keep you here, keep you strolling, keep you clicking.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: So watch how this works.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: Watch the trick.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: So story number one: AI is gonna come for your job.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: There's another one.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: Robots are taking over, accountant is finished, paralegal done, truck driver, coder, customer service rep all replaced, mass unemployment.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: It's the end of work as we know it.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: That story gets clicks.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: Fear always gets clicks.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Fear is the oldest currency there is.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: Here's the second story, the exact opposite.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: AI, it's gonna save us.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: It's gonna cure cancer.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: It's gonna give every kid a personal tutor.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: It's gonna free you from the boring work so you can finally live.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: A new golden age is being ushered in, and it's the age of abundance.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: The worst thing you're gonna have to do is worry what it's like not having a job, but getting to explore yourself and become your best version of you and live forever.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Well, that story, well, it gets clicks too.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Hope sells just as hard as fear does.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: Hope is actually fear's twin.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: So here's what I need you to see.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: Both stories, they can't be true at the same time.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: AI can't both end all work and free all work.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Those are opposite outcomes.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: Both stories make money, same machine, opposite costumes.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: Both paid by for your attention.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Now, it's like a magician working two crowds at once.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: To the nervous crowd, he says the trick is dangerous.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: To the hopeful crowd, he says the trick will change your life.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: It's a different pitch, same hat, same dollar, coming out of the same pocket that's yours.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: And now the AI itself is generating both versions at scale for free or on the clock, faster than any human newsroom ever could.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: The fear article and the hope article are being written by the same kind of model optimized for the same thing, your eyeballs and your attention.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: Now I'm not telling you this from the outside.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: I deploy these tools.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: I build with them, I see what we have available.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: The people on the inside have something even better.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: I know exactly how good they are at finding the words that make you stop and stare.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: That's not a conspiracy, it's math.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: The model is doing precisely what it was built to do.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: So I'm going to bring it home here because this is the part that actually matters for your life.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: When the number never matches the noise, it never matches.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: When the machine writing the noise only cares about your attention, you have to ask the real question what ends up being true?
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: What is true?
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: Not what's loud, not what's trending, not what made you angry this morning before your coffee was even done, but what is actually true.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: And here's where a lot of people give up.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: They throw their hands in the air and say, Well, you know what?
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: Nothing's true, it's all spin.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: Everybody has an agenda, so why am I bothering?
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: I'm going to tell you straight, that's a lazy answer.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Low-hanging fruit, and it's wrong.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: Yes, everybody has an agenda.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: Almost every story you see shaped by somebody who wanted something from you.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: That part, real.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: But the existence of a thousand lies doesn't mean there's no truth underneath them.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: 1.1%, that's true.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: It's a real number measured carefully by people who count things for a living.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: The number on top of it is the agenda.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: The number under it is the truth.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: AI replacing some jobs, true.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: AI helping in subjobs, true.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: The screaming headlines on both ends are the agenda.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: The measured reality in the middle, that's the truth.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: The truth didn't disappear, it just got buried under all the nonsense and noise.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: There's a difference between truth being gone and truth being hard to find.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: And those two things feel like the same when you're tired and scrolling and getting yelled at from every direction because they are not the same.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: Truth still exists.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Most people just stop looking for it.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: They stop because looking is work.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: Looking means reading past the headline.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: Looking means checking who profits from the story.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: Looking means asking.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: What is the actual number?
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: Who counted it?
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: Who is screaming about it and why?
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: That's not glamorous.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Nobody builds a viral video of let me go read the source data like this one.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: But there's there, this is where the truth has always been.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: Down at the bottom under the noise, waiting for the small number of people who still bother to dig.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: So this is my ask of you today.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: And it's the whole point of this episode.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: Be one of those people who still look when the next story sets your hair on fire.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: Fear or hope, left or right, AI Doom or AI Heaven.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Stop for one second and ask the three questions.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: Three, what's the actual number?
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: Who profits from me believing this?
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: And where is the source the real one?
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: Not the headline about the source.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: You do that, and the machine loses its grip on you.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: Not all the way, but enough.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: Enough for you to think for yourself again, at least for a moment.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: Because the agenda is almost always the same agenda underneath.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: That's attention.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: And attention is almost always money.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: That's your money.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: Leaving your pocket, your pocket, one click at a time, your click.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: People building these systems are not thinking about you.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: That's not evil, it's math.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: So we need to think about us.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: We need to think about ourselves.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: So that's that job now.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: In a world where the loudest thing is rarely the truest thing, your edge is that you're still willing to go look.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: Truth exists, it always did.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: Most people just stop looking.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: Be the one who keeps looking.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: Well, that's the mission.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: AI for everybody, not just the wealthy.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: Eyes open for everyone, not just the few who bother to dig.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: You be safe out there.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: I will see you tomorrow.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: Be well.
