- 0:04Good morning. This is the Sacramento Brief, your
- 0:08weekday roundup of overnight headlines and what's
- 0:11ahead across the city. I'm Carol. It's Thursday,
- 0:15December 4th, 2025. Let's get to it. Sacramento
- 0:20fire crews responded to a commercial fire in
- 0:23South Natomas late Wednesday night. It started
- 0:25around 9 .20 p .m. near Northgate Boulevard and
- 0:29Jefferson Avenue, where an RV caught fire next
- 0:32to a building. The cause of this fire is still
- 0:35under investigation. Just a few hours earlier,
- 0:39Sacramento police say that two adults and a 17
- 0:41-year -old were arrested after a brief pursuit.
- 0:44Early yesterday morning, around 3 a .m., officers
- 0:47tried to stop a vehicle near Hovanian Drive
- 0:50and Alboran Sea Circle for a traffic violation.
- 0:54The driver took off, leading to a short chase
- 0:57that ended when the car crashed into a tree near
- 0:59Arena and Gateway Park Boulevards. All three
- 1:03occupants were detained, including a 17 -year
- 1:06-old wanted on outstanding felony warrants. They
- 1:09were taken to a local hospital for evaluation,
- 1:11but no major injuries were reported. And back
- 1:15on Monday, officers were called to the 2800 block
- 1:18of Meadowview Road around 4 .40 p .m. for a robbery.
- 1:22Police say the suspect used force on a victim
- 1:25who ended up with minor arm injuries. Officers
- 1:28got there quickly, tracked down the suspect,
- 1:31and they were arrested on related robbery charges.
- 1:36Today, we're going to expect a high of 57. The
- 1:39fog melts away by midday and we get a pop of
- 1:42sunshine around noon. Okay, Sacramento, I've
- 1:46got some genuinely fun airport news. I fly regularly
- 1:50and I'm excited about this one. SMF is finally
- 1:54reopening the long empty pre -security space
- 1:58in Terminal B. The county has just approved a
- 2:0110 -year deal with Local Flights LLC, the Sacramento
- 2:05team behind Rio Pub, to launch a brand new restaurant
- 2:09and cafe called Local Flights Brews and Bites.
- 2:14It opens in spring of 2026, so you can expect
- 2:17a full bar, sit -down dining, grab -and -go options,
- 2:20and a separate coffee shop. The menu will be
- 2:24led by chef Adam Pechal, known for his approachable,
- 2:27upscale comfort food and seasonal plates. This
- 2:31spot's been closed since 2020, so bringing it
- 2:34back is a big part of SMF's airport -wide refresh.
- 2:39And with the owners on board, The concession
- 2:42program now hits 47 % small business participation,
- 2:47which exceeds their goal. Local flights say they

- 2:56hangout whether you're arriving, departing, or
- 2:59just picking up someone. More food options are
- 3:03rolling out across both terminals through 2025
