- 0:02Speaker 1: Radio Radio radios a myth and bullshit radio phonic novella
- 0:17Speaker 1: Local Radio hosted by Malam. Hello, welcome back to local radio. Welcome, Welcome.
- 0:26Speaker 1: This is Mala and this is DIOSA. This is Get
- 0:29Speaker 1: Another Girl Hour. Yes, Look at the Radio is a
- 0:33Speaker 1: podcast archiving the brilliance and legacies of women and fems
- 0:37Speaker 1: of color. Thank you for joining us once again. Yes,
- 0:40Speaker 1: thank you for being here. It's been a hot minute
- 0:42Speaker 1: since we last recorded, and we're so happy to be recordings.
- 0:47Speaker 1: And we've overcome a lot, honestly to record. Yes, as
- 0:51Speaker 1: you all know or maybe you don't, but mercury is
- 0:53Speaker 1: in retrograde, which is known to block communication. And the
- 0:58Speaker 1: last Saturday when we tried to record, everything was a
- 1:01Speaker 1: hot mess and it was weird because everything was a
- 1:04Speaker 1: hot mess, like one thing after the other. But the
- 1:07Speaker 1: middle this wasn't working, Like there was this weird sound
- 1:10Speaker 1: coming on the radio stack at the radio station out Yes,
- 1:14Speaker 1: and then when we were trying to tell you all
- 1:16Speaker 1: about it, are the sound on our phones? We're working either.
- 1:20Speaker 1: And then like I was having trouble uploading shipped to
- 1:22Speaker 1: my story, like things things that I uploaded you couldn't
- 1:27Speaker 1: see on so strange. It was just because we had
- 1:31Speaker 1: every intention of coming in here and recording. We did
- 1:33Speaker 1: come and we couldn't because the sound was sucked up.
- 1:36Speaker 1: So yeah, it was just a weird day and we
- 1:37Speaker 1: were like, yeah, mercury is definitely in retrograde. Someone has
- 1:40Speaker 1: done like a weird on our technology and it's trying
- 1:43Speaker 1: to stifle us. But we overcame and now we're here. Okay,
- 1:47Speaker 1: we cannot be silence. You cannot kill a bad BT, No,
- 1:51Speaker 1: you cannot. So anyways, so so much has happened since
- 1:56Speaker 1: we last recorded. We want to give you all an
- 1:57Speaker 1: update before we get into our main content. The Gardener
- 2:01Speaker 1: as mother like gardener. So, um, we've been busy. We've
- 2:08Speaker 1: been busy. Porcallo happened about two or three weeks ago. Now,
- 2:11Speaker 1: that was November nine, on a Sunday a La downtown
- 2:15Speaker 1: l A. It was a lot of fun. It was
- 2:17Speaker 1: a lot of fun. I mean, I was honestly, very
- 2:20Speaker 1: pleasantly surprised that so many people came out specifically for
- 2:24Speaker 1: Latinox podcasts. Yes, like it was all it was podcasts.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Like we had panels, we were tabling, um, there were
- 2:34Speaker 1: different topics. It was really fun there was merch. We
- 2:37Speaker 1: got to meet some of our listeners, which is always
- 2:41Speaker 1: our favorite part about doing events. We love that. Um
- 2:44Speaker 1: and Yeah, I think we didn't know what to expect
- 2:46Speaker 1: and like mol said, we were pleasantly surprised. We got
- 2:49Speaker 1: to share a little table with umfic on cheese Man
- 2:51Speaker 1: shout out. And our setup was so cute. We had
- 2:55Speaker 1: our pink BoA's and our Velita's and swag and all that.
- 2:59Speaker 1: So poppy hats, Our poppy hats. Shout out to everyone
- 3:02Speaker 1: that has purchased them. Now available in black, they're super
- 3:05Speaker 1: and black super cute. Were currently sold out. Mona and
- 3:09Speaker 1: I don't even have a black one. You don't. They're exclusive, yes,
- 3:14Speaker 1: so if you were lucky enough to get your hands
- 3:16Speaker 1: on them, they'll be back in the country. People want them,
- 3:18Speaker 1: like our family members think that they're going to get
- 3:21Speaker 1: them for free. They're like, oh, could I get a hat?
- 3:23Speaker 1: Were like for fifteen dollars first seventeen Mama, yeah, yeah,
- 3:29Speaker 1: my mom was like, my mom was like, um, can
- 3:31Speaker 1: I get one? And I was like, yes, it'll be
- 3:32Speaker 1: seventeen dollars. Yes, even my mother but she's a big
- 3:37Speaker 1: fan of the podcast. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, So you know,
- 3:40Speaker 1: support your local podcasts absolutely, and we got to meet
- 3:43Speaker 1: some of our favorite podcasters. We met, you know, the
- 3:45Speaker 1: folks of shout Out that are a lot of town
- 3:49Speaker 1: and that is Yeah, Latinos to lunch ump a lot
- 3:55Speaker 1: around girls. They were some one, all of them, like
- 4:01Speaker 1: we were all there. It was fun, it was fun,
- 4:03Speaker 1: it was cute. Thank you everybody for who was there. Yeah,
- 4:05Speaker 1: shout out to the organizers as well. And then in
- 4:08Speaker 1: addition to podcast studio, we've been like, we've been doing
- 4:11Speaker 1: a little like university circuit recently. It's been honest, very cute.
- 4:15Speaker 1: It's been real cute, very academic, right, fun. So we
- 4:19Speaker 1: went to a few days later, we went to maybe
- 4:21Speaker 1: a week later. I can't even remember. Everything is such
- 4:23Speaker 1: a but we went to pitts Or College and one
- 4:26Speaker 1: of the Clamont colleges and it was super super great.
- 4:30Speaker 1: We were mod and I were on a panel that
- 4:32Speaker 1: was very fun, moderated by one of the students that
- 4:35Speaker 1: organized doing that actually brought us out there, and it
- 4:38Speaker 1: was amazing. Yeah, and it wasn't so great. People were
- 4:41Speaker 1: really asking questions and really getting into the material and um,
- 4:45Speaker 1: we basically talked about our particular womanisms and feminisms and homisms.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Absolutely what we always do. We always do what we do,
- 4:55Speaker 1: yes and when, And we were at USC. They're Latino
- 4:59Speaker 1: Student Assembly invited us to fancy there basically night of musica. Yeah,
- 5:04Speaker 1: thank you Karen for bringing us out. And it was great.
- 5:09Speaker 1: It was a really good time. I mean good show
- 5:12Speaker 1: um local l a like Latino x bands, local talent um.
- 5:17Speaker 1: And the day of that show, it was like the
- 5:19Speaker 1: last day of classes for all of like the SC students,
- 5:22Speaker 1: so I think that they were just like so relieved
- 5:24Speaker 1: to be done with the semester. So it was a
- 5:26Speaker 1: lot of fun. It was a lot of fun. And
- 5:28Speaker 1: then even more, Oh my god, we have so many
- 5:30Speaker 1: updates because it's been such a long time we last recorded.
- 5:35Speaker 1: All of the stuff is accumulating. But then we we
- 5:38Speaker 1: had an event. Our friend Bukafalaha was here from out
- 5:40Speaker 1: of town and invited us along with mad Um, to
- 5:43Speaker 1: go like do a night of like you know, film
- 5:47Speaker 1: with Bukafalaha. He has a documentary called hall Um, which
- 5:52Speaker 1: has a lot to do with like blackness and Latin
- 5:55Speaker 1: America UM and constructions of race. We went to go
- 5:59Speaker 1: talk about our prod deject about and there were some
- 6:02Speaker 1: listeners there in the audience, you know, did his thing
- 6:05Speaker 1: with his poetry. It was fun. It was a really
- 6:07Speaker 1: nice night. Yeah, and I we had we all. I
- 6:10Speaker 1: think we have some new listeners now. We had made
- 6:12Speaker 1: some great connections. So I'm really happy if you're listening, friend,
- 6:15Speaker 1: you went to the book of thank you to Me.
- 6:19Speaker 1: And then in addition, we were selected um by Word Agency.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Are girls over a Word Agency? They featured us as
- 6:29Speaker 1: one of their twenty five days of word women, So
- 6:32Speaker 1: women opening real doors and um it was super cute.
- 6:36Speaker 1: They did like a short interview with us. They asked
- 6:38Speaker 1: us like our favorite what we're grateful for, and then
- 6:40Speaker 1: our favorite moments or collaboration from um so just to
- 6:45Speaker 1: read it a little bit. Seventeen was our year of collaborations,
- 6:48Speaker 1: from throwing parties to our friends with our friends Ala Junta,
- 6:52Speaker 1: to hosting book and EP release events for local artists
- 6:55Speaker 1: like Yessica and Donna. We've been busy all year. We
- 6:58Speaker 1: had a good year. He did have a year. And
- 7:00Speaker 1: that's what this sizzle is over here and Espasio and
- 7:05Speaker 1: she's like hats us on her Instagram recording right now. Girl,
- 7:12Speaker 1: we love her, We love sizzle. Yes. And then one
- 7:14Speaker 1: woman to know is Amilie and yes, you can find
- 7:18Speaker 1: her at on Instagram at mass up on home. She's
- 7:21Speaker 1: so cute, she's very cute. She's she's a fellow youth.
- 7:25Speaker 1: We're not fellow, but she's a you's and we love
- 7:28Speaker 1: her and shout out we are, Yes, we love her.
- 7:32Speaker 1: She's amazing. Um, she's super dope and yeah, definitely someone
- 7:37Speaker 1: to know. And this cut pizzle is all about it's
- 7:41Speaker 1: a year in review. We are going to be talking
- 7:43Speaker 1: about our favorite different memories of this year. Yeah, we
- 7:47Speaker 1: got into some ship this year. You know, the good,
- 7:50Speaker 1: the bad, the ridiculous, the scandalous, yes, the embarrassing. Oh god,
- 7:58Speaker 1: We're going to talk about all of it. I'm so
- 8:01Speaker 1: well when you say it like that. Okay, we begin.
- 8:06Speaker 1: So the first the first memory, of course, at the
- 8:11Speaker 1: top is our favorite home memories. Favorite memory, Yeah, who
- 8:16Speaker 1: wants to start? My favorite home memory is that I
- 8:19Speaker 1: think I've talked about a little bit um already in
- 8:22Speaker 1: past coup peoples, is that I got a relationship right
- 8:25Speaker 1: here and the breakup to six months right so, like
- 8:28Speaker 1: I was like running out the door at that point,
- 8:30Speaker 1: and I was so excited. So I'm like, yes, I'm free.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna be a health show. I'm gonna be out
- 8:35Speaker 1: here in these streets. I'm gonna I'm gonna get it.
- 8:38Speaker 1: You know, I'm gonna have a great time. What I learned.
- 8:41Speaker 1: My favorite memory of this year is learning that it's
- 8:43Speaker 1: much harder to be a home than most people think.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Exhaust It's so hard, so hard, it's take so much work.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I haven't made any home memories. Basically, is what I'm
- 8:56Speaker 1: trying to say is I haven't made any home memories
- 8:57Speaker 1: this year because it's hard, it's a lot of work.
- 9:00Speaker 1: The options are limited out there. I can think of
- 9:03Speaker 1: a shut up, okay, I like whatever, who are just
- 9:12Speaker 1: regular memories? I wouldn't even consider those whole memories necessarily.
- 9:16Speaker 1: This is true, you know, because I think that there's
- 9:19Speaker 1: your your regular levels of having fun. But then you
- 9:23Speaker 1: you reach the next level and those are your whole levels.
- 9:25Speaker 1: And I didn't get there this year, unfortunately, got it.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I don't think I feel like this was my peak year. Yes,
- 9:32Speaker 1: let's talk about it. This is my peak ho year.
- 9:34Speaker 1: And now I'm just like, you know, not out and
- 9:37Speaker 1: about anymore. You're a sabbatical I want a sabbatical. I
- 9:41Speaker 1: started the year like, hello, ho ish you're resting. I'm resting.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I'm on a Britain Well not a break, but I'm resting, Yeah,
- 9:48Speaker 1: on sabbatical. No, I mean I think to illustrate, like
- 9:51Speaker 1: I like like I would have beat, I would have
- 9:53Speaker 1: been I would be the biggest home. I would be
- 9:55Speaker 1: the biggest home. But like, for example, this year, on
- 9:58Speaker 1: one weekend, I had too different guys like in my
- 10:02Speaker 1: apartment in one weekend. But did I did I? Did
- 10:05Speaker 1: I get digged down? I didn't how I know exactly
- 10:11Speaker 1: what you're talking about? How does that work? And they
- 10:14Speaker 1: were like to like living breathing men, you know, like
- 10:18Speaker 1: fully functioning. And I still did not get it where
- 10:21Speaker 1: I live at all. So I didn't make any home memories.
- 10:25Speaker 1: And I'm sad. I know, I'm just I'm just waiting.
- 10:30Speaker 1: I'm waiting. I'm waiting. I'm laying in wait. To be honest,
- 10:32Speaker 1: sometimes you have to wait to be a home with
- 10:34Speaker 1: my batteries person. You know. Oh that's everything that's true.
- 10:39Speaker 1: That's everything that's true. Yeah, So okay, next question, favorite
- 10:44Speaker 1: homegirl memories that I have a lot of. Yes, there's
- 10:48Speaker 1: been quite a few. What are your favorite Homegirl memories
- 10:50Speaker 1: from this year. Well, let's see the mommy celebrated the
- 10:54Speaker 1: when year anniversary. Yes, oh my god, we had two
- 10:58Speaker 1: anniversaries this year. We did. We had two big ones.
- 11:02Speaker 1: First there was the Mummy Verse three and then something
- 11:04Speaker 1: that I think is really funny to me. And also
- 11:07Speaker 1: just like I always joked, like MoMA's my other partner
- 11:10Speaker 1: because like if you look at my Instagram, it's like
- 11:12Speaker 1: my bow and then Mala like it's like them too.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Um so exactly, so we actually Mama and I we
- 11:23Speaker 1: unlocked like a level of homegirl love because we have
- 11:26Speaker 1: a joint big that was a great memory. That was
- 11:29Speaker 1: a memory. We were at the bank together, yes, together
- 11:33Speaker 1: with our social opening a bank account together, and um
- 11:38Speaker 1: we were perceived as as partners and yeah we are.
- 11:41Speaker 1: And it was funny because I don't know what do
- 11:43Speaker 1: we call the banker the manager when a manager the
- 11:46Speaker 1: bankers they were. The manager was like, oh, oh, are
- 11:49Speaker 1: YouTube partners and they were like very sweet, really nice.
- 11:52Speaker 1: They were like this for household items. They were like yes, yes,
- 11:56Speaker 1: we're partners. Yes, yes. It was very cute. And then
- 12:01Speaker 1: we also had another partner moment where We went to
- 12:03Speaker 1: this like the music center after dark, Yes, and they
- 12:07Speaker 1: had like like an Afro Cuban night with different floors
- 12:10Speaker 1: and bands and so much fun, all kinds of stuff,
- 12:13Speaker 1: a dance floor DJ's and there was this one mohead
- 12:16Speaker 1: who was doing lessons partner dancing, and we coupled up,
- 12:20Speaker 1: of course, and we funked up everybody ship and they
- 12:24Speaker 1: had to The instructor had to change up her whole language.
- 12:28Speaker 1: She did because of course it was it was very
- 12:30Speaker 1: gendered and it was like perceivably hadtero couples, right, But
- 12:33Speaker 1: then Mama and I came in and then she started
- 12:36Speaker 1: saying like, oh, grab your grab your your partner, or
- 12:39Speaker 1: grab your your dance partner, right, definitely switching up the language.
- 12:44Speaker 1: And it was really funny because Mala was lead and
- 12:46Speaker 1: I was like, why does Mama get to be les? Yeah,
- 12:49Speaker 1: so we switched and switched and then it was so
- 12:52Speaker 1: funny because the women were like rotating and I feel
- 12:54Speaker 1: like they didn't know how to act. Yeah yeah, because
- 12:56Speaker 1: the instructor kept saying like, um, she was like the
- 13:00Speaker 1: assumption was like the one in the middle that's being
- 13:03Speaker 1: passed around was always correct because she and the one
- 13:06Speaker 1: doing the passing was always a keys and then she
- 13:08Speaker 1: had to change up the language to like leader and
- 13:10Speaker 1: follower instead of we have her these gender languages. It
- 13:18Speaker 1: was so cute, it was very fun. So that was
- 13:21Speaker 1: a good homegirl memory. Yeah, I loved our mommyniversary. I
- 13:25Speaker 1: even honestly would consider mommy getting to be a home
- 13:28Speaker 1: by or I don't talk about that one my favorite
- 13:31Speaker 1: memory of it's memory that we will always remember in
- 13:37Speaker 1: very few words and very details. Can you let our
- 13:40Speaker 1: listeners know about my getting mommy Gedding was a series
- 13:43Speaker 1: of very unfortunate events that took place at a party
- 13:46Speaker 1: that will go a name not too long ago. Um
- 13:50Speaker 1: wherein you know, you know, you know when you mix
- 13:53Speaker 1: alcohol and you know, bad attitudes and you know, and
- 14:00Speaker 1: sometimes tensions rise and sometimes even homegirls get into it.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I'm gonna say where two of the mommies. There was
- 14:07Speaker 1: two of us they will remain unnamed. But we came
- 14:11Speaker 1: out alive and well and still loving each other and
- 14:14Speaker 1: supporting each other. This is true. I mean the fight
- 14:17Speaker 1: took place across like several different locations and various mediums
- 14:21Speaker 1: and various mediums. We were like parking lot, king, taco phone,
- 14:26Speaker 1: text call. Yeah, it was like a whole thing across platform.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Momma was not my favorite memory. I mean, you know,
- 14:34Speaker 1: it's still a prominent memory, but we had other good memories.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I mean, I think our Look Adversary, like our one
- 14:40Speaker 1: year anniversary was really fun and like we got to
- 14:44Speaker 1: meet so many listeners look a Motives. I loved it.
- 14:48Speaker 1: That was one of my best memories of the whole
- 14:49Speaker 1: year for sure. The Look Aversary, I agree, it was
- 14:53Speaker 1: definitely my favorite memory. I think it was such a good,
- 14:56Speaker 1: like end of year type, like we're starting a new
- 15:00Speaker 1: year as look at our radio so like to see
- 15:03Speaker 1: everyone that supported us from the very beginning to like
- 15:06Speaker 1: new listeners there and their partners that were there with them.
- 15:10Speaker 1: It was super right. And then of course, like we
- 15:13Speaker 1: love our friends over at La Junta l A, so
- 15:15Speaker 1: being able to plan that with them with super super dope,
- 15:17Speaker 1: super amazing. They're really good people. Yeah. Yeah, and I
- 15:21Speaker 1: mean this year also, like, um, I think that, I mean,
- 15:25Speaker 1: I think this transitions us now into the next categories.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Just look at our memories like podcast memories and the
- 15:31Speaker 1: Look Adversary, And I think the fact that this year
- 15:34Speaker 1: we actually began like doing workshops and like going to
- 15:37Speaker 1: speak at schools, universities conferences starting with like UC Santa Barbara, Yes,
- 15:43Speaker 1: thank you for having us u c l A shout
- 15:46Speaker 1: out silky USC. We've been at USC now Pasadena City College,
- 15:52Speaker 1: um Pitzer. We have more coming in the year. Yes,
- 15:57Speaker 1: we will share this later to be announced at a
- 15:59Speaker 1: later time. I'm a later date, yes, so yeah, just
- 16:02Speaker 1: good stuff, you know, And I think, like I want
- 16:04Speaker 1: to shout out everyone that has our listeners, followers look
- 16:08Speaker 1: on what is that have donated money to our venmo.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Thank you so much, that have become patrons and that
- 16:14Speaker 1: have purchased a Bobby hat. Um, because what you'all don't
- 16:18Speaker 1: know is like when mom and I started this project,
- 16:20Speaker 1: like everything, of course, we like front right every every
- 16:24Speaker 1: everything that we do, like we obviously use our own money,
- 16:27Speaker 1: and it's hard, obviously, um so hard. With your donations
- 16:31Speaker 1: and like with your support, we've been able to order
- 16:33Speaker 1: our business cards or stickers, our hats and like hopefully
- 16:37Speaker 1: expand to other things in the future. So thank you
- 16:40Speaker 1: to everybody that has like really given their money to us.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you for giving us all the paper.
- 16:49Speaker 1: You know, what's somebody but the thing is, it's so
- 16:51Speaker 1: cute because, like we had several different listeners tell us
- 16:55Speaker 1: both in person and online, like in those words like
- 16:59Speaker 1: people want to know how they can support you and
- 17:01Speaker 1: how they can people want to give you their money.
- 17:03Speaker 1: That's literally what we're said. Mohed told us that at
- 17:06Speaker 1: east Side Love to our face, like people want to
- 17:08Speaker 1: give you their money. So we're just giving the people
- 17:10Speaker 1: what they want, which is the opportunity to give us
- 17:12Speaker 1: their beny. You're welcome, Thank you everybody, You're grateful. Anyways. Anyways,
- 17:23Speaker 1: so yeah, those are some good as memories, if I
- 17:26Speaker 1: do say so myself, I think so too. I feel
- 17:28Speaker 1: like I didn't share my home memory. What's your home memory?
- 17:31Speaker 1: Don't remember though? You know, we're like which one Um,
- 17:36Speaker 1: I was acting a fool and I was drunk and
- 17:39Speaker 1: I um had sex in the car after after our
- 17:45Speaker 1: what circumstances, after our the girls and I the mommy.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Tonight we had our our pool party. That was a
- 17:52Speaker 1: good time. It was so much fun. It was so
- 17:54Speaker 1: fun drunk and got quintaco after. Yeah, we were so drunk.
- 17:59Speaker 1: We were so drunk. It was a good time. It
- 18:01Speaker 1: was forward to round two, same next year, because that's
- 18:05Speaker 1: a good clean fun that's yeah, it's safe for my
- 18:07Speaker 1: parents house. It was fun, okay, cool, Okay, Well we
- 18:15Speaker 1: reminisce on our home memory. Oh my god or call
- 18:23Speaker 1: um and and and and and and and and and
- 18:40Speaker 1: and um um um um um um um um um
- 18:57Speaker 1: um um of it and little ship. We're back and
- 19:04Speaker 1: we actually have a cute guest here with us today. Yes,
- 19:09Speaker 1: Ludi Lava heyy girl. Ludy is a writer and editor,
- 19:15Speaker 1: a creative and artist, and Ludy's out here for like
- 19:19Speaker 1: special purposes in addition to coming in saying hi to
- 19:22Speaker 1: us today is so Ludi, can you introduce yourself to
- 19:25Speaker 1: our listeners? Yeah? Hello, it's such a pleasure to be
- 19:27Speaker 1: here um with look at the radio. Um. Yeah, my
- 19:30Speaker 1: name is Ludy. I'm based in Brooklyn, Um, Guatemalan Slovakian
- 19:35Speaker 1: diaspora baby from Seattle. And yeah, I'm so happy to
- 19:39Speaker 1: be here with y'all. Thank you for joining her, Thanks
- 19:42Speaker 1: for being here, and what brings you to l A Well,
- 19:45Speaker 1: my partner has a installation project at twenty nine rooms
- 19:49Speaker 1: right now, so I'm just here supporting her. That's so dope.
- 19:52Speaker 1: And can you tell our listeners a little bit about
- 19:54Speaker 1: what is twenty nine rooms like if they don't know, Yeah, absolutely,
- 19:57Speaker 1: it's an interactive art event put put on my refinery
- 20:02Speaker 1: twenty nine. So originally it started in Brooklyn. I think
- 20:04Speaker 1: this is the first year that it's going to be
- 20:06Speaker 1: in Los Angeles. I think next year it's gonna be
- 20:08Speaker 1: coming to a few more cities around the country. UM.
- 20:11Speaker 1: And yeah, it's just basically a space for for artists
- 20:13Speaker 1: to have installations, um and kind of interactive pieces. UM.
- 20:17Speaker 1: So there's a lot of different different mediums. Um. But
- 20:20Speaker 1: my partner's project is virtual reality. It's a project called
- 20:23Speaker 1: neuro Speculative Afro Feminism. Uh. And it's pretty dopey. All
- 20:26Speaker 1: should check it out. That's amazing. We need to go
- 20:29Speaker 1: and get some pictures that we do. We do explore
- 20:32Speaker 1: the arts. We need to go see. Thank you, thank
- 20:34Speaker 1: you telling us about that. And we're also you know,
- 20:37Speaker 1: we're gonna ask Loudy to share some of your favorite
- 20:40Speaker 1: memories of this year of seventeen. Um, I don't know,
- 20:44Speaker 1: you know, we shared particular categories like home memories, homegrowl memories,
- 20:48Speaker 1: our favorite podcast memories. Do you have any particular memories
- 20:52Speaker 1: from this year that are really sticking out to you.
- 20:56Speaker 1: I have a lot This has been a pretty weird year,
- 20:58Speaker 1: I think for a lot of people. So there's been
- 21:01Speaker 1: you know, there's been a lot of a lot of
- 21:03Speaker 1: good stuff, but also rolled in a lot of intense
- 21:07Speaker 1: ships to be honest. So, um, I don't know. I
- 21:10Speaker 1: guess it's not a specific memory, but one of my
- 21:13Speaker 1: highlights of this year has been Well, in April, I
- 21:17Speaker 1: was just not feeling it. Trump was just like a
- 21:20Speaker 1: thing in like a thorn in my foot, and I
- 21:23Speaker 1: was having some I was kind of struggling, and my
- 21:26Speaker 1: lease was up, and my girlfriend and I just decided
- 21:29Speaker 1: to leave and we just threw all of our stuff
- 21:31Speaker 1: into a storage unit. We didn't really have like a
- 21:33Speaker 1: plan exactly, but we just decided to go to Iceland
- 21:36Speaker 1: because we had never been there before. We found a
- 21:39Speaker 1: super cheap flight and like low key, I just used
- 21:42Speaker 1: my damage to post had to like go to Iceland.
- 21:45Speaker 1: I just had to get away, um and kind of
- 21:47Speaker 1: reconnect with myself and figure out what I wanted to
- 21:49Speaker 1: do moving forward. So we did that. Yeah, and then
- 21:53Speaker 1: I landed in l a for like three months uh
- 21:55Speaker 1: this summer, and that was just you know, a really
- 21:58Speaker 1: incredible experience for me because I had never really spent
- 22:00Speaker 1: much time here and now it's just kind of beautiful
- 22:04Speaker 1: because I feel like I'm starting to have a community
- 22:06Speaker 1: here as well. So that's kind of the highlight is
- 22:08Speaker 1: just like me giving myself permission to take some time
- 22:12Speaker 1: away and you know, figure out what I needed. Um
- 22:15Speaker 1: And you know, I also was able to reconnect more
- 22:17Speaker 1: creatively with myself. And it was around that time that
- 22:20Speaker 1: I started first playing around with like illustrator and photoshop.
- 22:23Speaker 1: You know, before I'd only done really like analog illustrations,
- 22:26Speaker 1: and that's kind of become a whole thing that I'm
- 22:28Speaker 1: now doing for work. So yeah, that's very cool. Yeah,
- 22:32Speaker 1: I love that it was. It was a good time,
- 22:34Speaker 1: a good spring kind of revival. That's awesome. And I
- 22:39Speaker 1: think now the next memories that we want to talk
- 22:42Speaker 1: about are coming back to the podcast, right, our favorite
- 22:45Speaker 1: gupp low Yeah, our favorite episodes so far this year.
- 22:50Speaker 1: And I have a hard time snaring it down and deciding,
- 22:53Speaker 1: do you know what your favorite one of this year
- 22:55Speaker 1: has been? No, because I'm a Libra and I have
- 22:58Speaker 1: like two we have favorites of like everything that's right
- 23:02Speaker 1: when you I don't know what my favorite is of anything.
- 23:06Speaker 1: I'm like, I can give you my top three. I'm
- 23:08Speaker 1: the same. That's so funny. I feel, yes, well, I
- 23:16Speaker 1: mean this is one of our later ones. I mean
- 23:18Speaker 1: I really like our first one, look at Pistemologies. I
- 23:21Speaker 1: love Look at Pistemos set the groundwork for every podcast.
- 23:24Speaker 1: But I also love a more recent one, which is
- 23:28Speaker 1: um talking about mistresses, just because you know, it's just
- 23:32Speaker 1: a topic that's just so here and dear to my heart.
- 23:34Speaker 1: And I even feel like even before we actually started recording,
- 23:38Speaker 1: I was talking about like recording something about like the
- 23:42Speaker 1: Demonized Women, right, we have been wanting to do like
- 23:45Speaker 1: specifically like a Mala episode, even though we didn't call
- 23:49Speaker 1: it that, I feel like in other words, and so
- 23:54Speaker 1: I love that one I wanted to do. We're gonna
- 23:57Speaker 1: the thing is our favorite pizzas, like look at Pistemologies
- 24:00Speaker 1: from Defense from Tech. We're going to do part two. Yeah,
- 24:03Speaker 1: they're going to come back. They'll come back. So I
- 24:05Speaker 1: think this is also a good time to say, like,
- 24:07Speaker 1: if you if there's one in particular that you want,
- 24:09Speaker 1: like a second a sequel, let us know, um, I
- 24:12Speaker 1: would say, now, looking at our guffet list, Um Guide
- 24:17Speaker 1: to Goddess or Shop. Yes, that was a really good one. Yeah,
- 24:23Speaker 1: I would say that one. And then also the Multidimensional
- 24:25Speaker 1: Home always a fun one. That one was really great.
- 24:29Speaker 1: I love whenever we talk about sex or like centering
- 24:31Speaker 1: hop politics. I think that's where we thrive. We thrive
- 24:35Speaker 1: when we talk about sex, we do we do? Um? Yeah, Florish,
- 24:39Speaker 1: I agree, And Ludi, are you do you listen to
- 24:42Speaker 1: lots of podcasts? Are you like a big a big
- 24:44Speaker 1: podcast head? I am? More recently. It was always something
- 24:48Speaker 1: that I was low key like, oh my god, I
- 24:50Speaker 1: was doing this pot listening to podcast and I felt
- 24:52Speaker 1: so insecure. I was like, I don't in the podcast,
- 24:54Speaker 1: like I definitely should. Um. But yeah, this last year,
- 24:57Speaker 1: a couple of years, I've gotten a lot more into it,
- 24:59Speaker 1: just because you know, I haven't. I've been out of
- 25:01Speaker 1: school for like a few years, and I just really
- 25:04Speaker 1: miss a like amassing new knowledge and like exposing myself
- 25:07Speaker 1: to just different you know, not that I don't learn
- 25:09Speaker 1: a lot just moving through the world like as like
- 25:12Speaker 1: a human being, but like you know, sometimes so yeah,
- 25:15Speaker 1: I've gotten a lot more into them, and like I
- 25:17Speaker 1: just I love you guys so much, and I'm like,
- 25:19Speaker 1: it's just the very fact that you exist, like it
- 25:21Speaker 1: just gives me so much life, and I just, yeah,
- 25:24Speaker 1: thank you, I appreciate that. Um let's see, I think
- 25:30Speaker 1: we have another category, favorite pop culture memory. Yes of
- 25:34Speaker 1: this year, I don't have one off the top of
- 25:36Speaker 1: my work. I have to think. Yeah. I mean, I
- 25:38Speaker 1: feel like a lot has happened, happened, and I think
- 25:41Speaker 1: since so much has been happening globally, that translates to
- 25:44Speaker 1: lots of things happening in pop culture as well. You know,
- 25:48Speaker 1: it's just been an active year, and a lot of
- 25:50Speaker 1: times I feel like what what artists are doing and
- 25:53Speaker 1: what stars are doing is sometimes a reaction to what's
- 25:56Speaker 1: happening in the world or a reflection of it. So
- 25:59Speaker 1: it just I just feel like there's been a lot
- 26:00Speaker 1: of activity. I mean, one example, like Cardie B by
- 26:05Speaker 1: herself has made so and so many moves. She's Grammy nominated.
- 26:10Speaker 1: This is true in one year she has made she engaged,
- 26:14Speaker 1: She's Grammy nominated. Thank you Cardi B for spicing up yar,
- 26:22Speaker 1: giving us something to shake her asses too. She gave
- 26:25Speaker 1: us lots of entertainment, like lots of just news and
- 26:28Speaker 1: news ship because it's always something new with her recently.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Always it's like this new thing with Cardi B. Happened,
- 26:34Speaker 1: Cardi B did this, CARTIV did that. But it's all
- 26:36Speaker 1: been positive. It hasn't been like scandal really well, accept
- 26:40Speaker 1: Cardie has been problematic. Yes, she continuously. We've talked about
- 26:44Speaker 1: this invious episodes. Yes, so there's that element that's always
- 26:49Speaker 1: there that we want to acknowledge. But she's made moves.
- 26:53Speaker 1: She's made moves, you know. So as far as pop
- 26:54Speaker 1: culture memories, I'm happy for her. Um. I feel like
- 26:58Speaker 1: there's a lot of ladies in hip hop right now
- 27:00Speaker 1: that are like on the come up and that are
- 27:02Speaker 1: like being seen. Um, so that's exciting. That's for me.
- 27:07Speaker 1: I think that's a good pop culture memory. Beyond gave birth,
- 27:11Speaker 1: that's mine, that's mine. Yes, thank you Gottess, Thank you
- 27:17Speaker 1: gottess is for bringing this life, these lives into the world. Yes, highlight,
- 27:24Speaker 1: there we go. That's a good one. Her maternity shoot
- 27:27Speaker 1: at that is. It's fine. When Milestone of the year,
- 27:31Speaker 1: all the white feminists quote feminists were mad as hell. Um,
- 27:36Speaker 1: Megan Markel is engaged to that prince. Yes, that Prince
- 27:41Speaker 1: that guy, that redhead. That's fine, It's be a royal
- 27:45Speaker 1: wedding and soon, very soon, Christy Tigan is having another
- 27:49Speaker 1: baby with John leon Ab. Oh wow, I love them.
- 27:53Speaker 1: They're cute. They're very cutely, right, Yeah. Do you have
- 27:56Speaker 1: a favorite pop culture memory of this year, Ludy, Sometimes
- 27:59Speaker 1: I'm is the worst of pop culture. Like I get
- 28:02Speaker 1: a little anxious them because I consume media obviously, but
- 28:05Speaker 1: it's hard to like pick one and I'm just being
- 28:08Speaker 1: liberate and probably but I don't know, I guess it's
- 28:11Speaker 1: not one moment, but it's just like it's been so
- 28:13Speaker 1: nice to see how pop culture is shifting to reflect
- 28:16Speaker 1: the moment that we're in politically and socially, and like,
- 28:19Speaker 1: I don't know, like throughout how much ship we've been
- 28:21Speaker 1: through this year, it's like so nice to see so
- 28:23Speaker 1: many creatives and artists and people in media just like
- 28:26Speaker 1: stepping up and being like yeo, I'm just gonna make
- 28:28Speaker 1: this and like people, I don't know, it's so validating
- 28:31Speaker 1: to to see so many, you know, people of color
- 28:33Speaker 1: and marginalized people being creative and like making ship and
- 28:36Speaker 1: using that as a artist too. It's not just you know,
- 28:39Speaker 1: you know, it's a coping mechanism, and but it's also
- 28:41Speaker 1: like a way to empower ourselves and to make ourselves
- 28:44Speaker 1: feel like in control even though things can feel like
- 28:47Speaker 1: they're spinning out of control a lot of the time.
- 28:48Speaker 1: So I don't know, that's been really amazing for me.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Just like music, this year has been a year of
- 28:53Speaker 1: just incredible music, film TV with all centering like a
- 28:58Speaker 1: lot of marginalized folks, and like, I don't know, I
- 29:00Speaker 1: live for that, So yeah, I mean yeah, I think that, Like, um,
- 29:05Speaker 1: there's been a lot to watch and a lot to
- 29:07Speaker 1: listen to. Um. Selenna got her star Hollywood, and we
- 29:13Speaker 1: still haven't really seen the actual star. If y'all remember
- 29:17Speaker 1: we went to the actual like when they unveiled it,
- 29:22Speaker 1: the ceremony, the ceremony with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Mayor Garcetti was the labor. It was a really emotional
- 29:30Speaker 1: it was beautiful. I remember Chris Perez was there, Oh
- 29:33Speaker 1: my god, and he brought her roses goodbye. It was
- 29:39Speaker 1: like I would have been like a mess. It was
- 29:42Speaker 1: very emotional to see like how moved everyone still is
- 29:46Speaker 1: by her and her presence and what she does, what
- 29:49Speaker 1: she did. People love hers, Selenna continues to have big years.
- 29:53Speaker 1: I know that collection that was last year, right, and
- 29:57Speaker 1: this year's star on the Hollywood and the cool the
- 30:00Speaker 1: Google homepage that they did the Whole Little Animal and
- 30:02Speaker 1: then the one did the wax at the Wax Museum.
- 30:05Speaker 1: When did that become with us this year, last year,
- 30:07Speaker 1: in the past two years, Wax figure, Hollywood Star Walk
- 30:13Speaker 1: of Fame, Mac mac collection. Well, moving on to another diva,
- 30:19Speaker 1: mis Rihanna blessed us with fenty Yeah she did, she did,
- 30:24Speaker 1: she did, and it has been very well received. Yeah,
- 30:28Speaker 1: I agree. She just came out with her red lipstick
- 30:30Speaker 1: and I saw it at Sappho the other day and
- 30:32Speaker 1: it's so beautiful, it's very pigmented. Good. Yeah, I'm glad.
- 30:40Speaker 1: So yeah, those are good pop culture memories. I don't know,
- 30:43Speaker 1: I'm trying to think, like, what else has happened this year.
- 30:46Speaker 1: It's like, I feel like the past few the past
- 30:48Speaker 1: few weeks or even months even, and we've just been
- 30:50Speaker 1: so inundated with all this like sexual assault, enviolence against women,
- 30:55Speaker 1: and I'm like, we don't need to talk about that
- 30:57Speaker 1: right now. When we did an episode on it, but
- 30:59Speaker 1: it's just like it's just a constant. It's just right now,
- 31:02Speaker 1: like when I'm thinking about what's happening in the media,
- 31:04Speaker 1: like that's all that I can think of. That's kind
- 31:06Speaker 1: of sad, right, so it's hard to think of, like, well,
- 31:09Speaker 1: what was my favorite thing? You know what I mean? Yeah, no,
- 31:12Speaker 1: I mean I was reflecting on that a lot, Like
- 31:14Speaker 1: I went to Mexico City this year. I went to
- 31:16Speaker 1: Mexico City and then I went to Miami this year. UM,
- 31:19Speaker 1: And when I went to Mexico City, you know, I
- 31:22Speaker 1: was reflecting on the fact that so much of that
- 31:23Speaker 1: trip like revolved around violence against women. Like I went
- 31:27Speaker 1: to this UM. They're in Mexico City. They have a
- 31:31Speaker 1: genocide museum called the Museum of Tolerance, and they on
- 31:34Speaker 1: different floors, different levels. They have basically information and like
- 31:38Speaker 1: exhibits having to do with like different genocides from throughout
- 31:42Speaker 1: the world, like historically and like today like continuing continuing genocides, right,
- 31:47Speaker 1: And one of the floors was specifically about femin CEO
- 31:50Speaker 1: in Mexico, so it was like an entire genocide which
- 31:52Speaker 1: is only of like Mexican women. And on a different
- 31:55Speaker 1: floor they had one about Guatemalan women. So I'm like,
- 31:59Speaker 1: in this one museum in Mexico, there are two floors
- 32:02Speaker 1: just on genocide of women. That's fucked up. And I
- 32:07Speaker 1: was only in Mexico City for like five days, so
- 32:09Speaker 1: I go to the genocide museum. And then a couple
- 32:11Speaker 1: of days later we hear the news of that young
- 32:14Speaker 1: woman who was found on the campus, murdered like strangled.
- 32:19Speaker 1: And the day after she was found, the prosecutor, the
- 32:22Speaker 1: district attorney was already tweeting out about how she was
- 32:25Speaker 1: in poor moral stand and she lived with her boyfriend.
- 32:28Speaker 1: The hashtag that came out of that with what are
- 32:32Speaker 1: they going to say about exactly? And many women were
- 32:34Speaker 1: tweeting like, you know, they're going to say that I
- 32:39Speaker 1: wore a short skirt and I like to go clubbing
- 32:41Speaker 1: and drinking with my friends. They're gonna pull up my
- 32:43Speaker 1: social media and say she was a home she hated men,
- 32:48Speaker 1: she had a comming all that ship. Yeah we could talk,
- 32:51Speaker 1: but that's true. Has been full of like sexual violence,
- 32:56Speaker 1: I think. Also like thinking on the flip side, also
- 32:58Speaker 1: like resilience. So seeing like all these women coming forward
- 33:02Speaker 1: and even the women that don't come forward, you know
- 33:04Speaker 1: that are still existing and living and thriving. Um that's
- 33:08Speaker 1: also something to celebrate, right yeah, I mean the Time
- 33:11Speaker 1: Time magazine person of the Year. They called them the
- 33:13Speaker 1: silence breakers, but basically survivors. They can just said survivors,
- 33:17Speaker 1: but they can't, they won't, but they won't. In other words,
- 33:22Speaker 1: survive survivors. It's been the year of the survivor. I
- 33:24Speaker 1: would say, I agree every year, right m M. I
- 33:29Speaker 1: also want to shout out both of us. I'm going
- 33:31Speaker 1: to give a shout out to ourselves because we it
- 33:35Speaker 1: took us a while to get out of certain relationships
- 33:38Speaker 1: that we knew were bad for us, that we're hurting us,
- 33:41Speaker 1: that maybe we you know, a lot of ship was happening,
- 33:43Speaker 1: and like was the year that we like set ourselves free.
- 33:48Speaker 1: And I'm really proud of us. Yes, I'm a free Yes,
- 33:54Speaker 1: I love it, yes, and like to because it's hard.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Sometimes it's hard to use. You broke up, like your
- 34:01Speaker 1: breakup lasted six months, like my lasted like a year exactly,
- 34:04Speaker 1: so like it's real. Yes, thank you, thank you gottesses
- 34:08Speaker 1: for helping us guiding us away. Yes, well, I'm all
- 34:15Speaker 1: out of memories, honest, I'm exhausted this year. I'm exhausted.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Yea same same. We have a really really special coming
- 34:24Speaker 1: for y'all next week. Yes, we have a special guest
- 34:29Speaker 1: for our next and we're going to keep that a
- 34:31Speaker 1: secret until we record with her. It's gonna be so amazing.
- 34:35Speaker 1: So we're gonna leave with a good note, with a
- 34:39Speaker 1: bank yes, our canality. Yes. So anyways, any final thoughts,
- 34:52Speaker 1: final thoughts, final words. Drink lots of water. Drink water,
- 34:58Speaker 1: get sleep moister, eat good, eat your greens. You know
- 35:03Speaker 1: what your body needs. Put down the stop getting the
- 35:06Speaker 1: fried food met me to me, eating French fries to
- 35:11Speaker 1: that's me to me. I constantly have to tell myself yeah,
- 35:15Speaker 1: I don't know, just keep kicking ass and surviving in
- 35:17Speaker 1: this crazy at world one. That's good, right, Yeah, thank
- 35:23Speaker 1: you for tuning in again. Yes, thank you so much.
- 35:27Speaker 1: I love you all. We will catch you next time.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Seat those
