- 0:01Speaker 1: Gospel Reflection for the 23rd day of October in the
- 0:05Speaker 1: year of our Lord, 2026. And today's reading comes from Ephesians,
- 0:10Speaker 1: chapter 4, 1 through 6. Therefore, a prisoner in the
- 0:15Speaker 1: Lord beseech you that you walk... Wait, I'll try that again. I, therefore,
- 0:19Speaker 1: a prisoner in the Lord, beseech you that you walk
- 0:22Speaker 1: worthy of the vocation in which you are called, with
- 0:25Speaker 1: all humility and mildness, with patience... Supporting one another in charity,
- 0:29Speaker 1: careful to keep the unity of the Spirit in the
- 0:32Speaker 1: bond of peace. One body and one Spirit. You are
- 0:35Speaker 1: called in one hope of your calling. One Lord, one faith,
- 0:40Speaker 1: one baptism. One God and Father of all, who is
- 0:43Speaker 1: above all and through all and in us all. Imagine
- 0:47Speaker 1: if all Christians were still of one body, one Spirit,
- 0:51Speaker 1: one Lord, one faith, and one baptism. Yesterday, a Protestant
- 0:55Speaker 1: confronted me over the doctrine of purgatory. He said flatly
- 0:58Speaker 1: that prayer for the dead was unscriptural. I told him
- 1:01Speaker 1: that if he had a real complete Bible, he would
- 1:03Speaker 1: know this was not true. He began to argue that
- 1:06Speaker 1: his King James Version was identical to the Greek translation
- 1:10Speaker 1: from the Bible of 100 AD. I proved to him
- 1:14Speaker 1: using historical evidence that the books of the Bible were
- 1:17Speaker 1: not officially canonized until the Council of Nicaea, after which
- 1:21Speaker 1: they were translated into Latin by St. Jerome around 400 AD.
- 1:27Speaker 1: He was shocked and speechless to learn that his Bible
- 1:32Speaker 1: was fake. He had been taught that it was an
- 1:35Speaker 1: English translation of the first Bible, which wasn't all in
- 1:39Speaker 1: the Greek language. And he had no idea that the
- 1:42Speaker 1: book of Maccabees had been removed by Luther and Calvin
- 1:45Speaker 1: specifically because it instructs us to pray for the souls
- 1:49Speaker 1: in purgatory. Prayer for the souls in purgatory is still
- 1:52Speaker 1: a Jewish tradition today. However, today's gospel is in his
- 1:57Speaker 1: counterfeit Bible, Luke 12, 54 through 59. He said to
- 2:02Speaker 1: the multitudes, When you see a cloud rising from the west,
- 2:06Speaker 1: presently you say a shower is coming, and so it happeneth.
- 2:10Speaker 1: And when you see the south wind blow, you say
- 2:13Speaker 1: there will be heat, and it cometh to pass. You hypocrites,
- 2:16Speaker 1: you know how to discern the face of heaven and earth,
- 2:20Speaker 1: but how is it that you do not know to
- 2:22Speaker 1: discern this time? And why, even of yourselves, you do
- 2:26Speaker 1: not judge that which is just. And when thou goest
- 2:30Speaker 1: with thy adversary to the prince whilst thou art on
- 2:32Speaker 1: the way, endeavor to be delivered from him, lest perhaps
- 2:36Speaker 1: he draw thee to the judge, and the judge deliver
- 2:40Speaker 1: thee to the exactor, and the exactor cast thee into prison.
- 2:43Speaker 1: And I say to thee, thou shalt not go out
- 2:46Speaker 1: thence until they pay the very last mite. And then,
- 2:50Speaker 1: of course, from the Dewey Reams translation of the Bibles,
- 2:53Speaker 1: which is almost literal translation. I mean, the language changes
- 2:59Speaker 1: a little bit from St. Jerome's Biblia Sacra, the original
- 3:04Speaker 1: Christian Bible. And the Dewey Reams does predate the King James.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Whenever you're talking with a Protestant who says, King James
- 3:11Speaker 1: was the first English translation of the Bible, say, no, no, no,
- 3:14Speaker 1: it wasn't. It wasn't at all. In fact, the Dewey
- 3:18Speaker 1: Reams wasn't even the first translation. English translation of the Bible,
- 3:21Speaker 1: and the Dewey Reams is older than the King James.
- 3:24Speaker 1: The Catholic Church made every effort to make the Bible
- 3:27Speaker 1: available to people in a language they understood. So those
- 3:31Speaker 1: who heard our Lord understood this to be a reference
- 3:33Speaker 1: to purgatory, as purgatory is Jewish doctrine as well as Catholic. Unfortunately,
- 3:39Speaker 1: Protestants who read the same words do not understand. They
- 3:42Speaker 1: don't understand because they've been lied to. They've been instructed
- 3:46Speaker 1: to essentially worship a fake Bible. Think about all those
- 3:50Speaker 1: preachers who condemn us for having a crucifix. It's a
- 3:53Speaker 1: graven image. And they'll hold up a Bible and basically
- 3:57Speaker 1: worship a... Well, grave comes from the same word, engrave,
- 4:02Speaker 1: which is from writing. So, I mean, kind of a
- 4:05Speaker 1: little weird, actually. So, especially considering it's not a real Bible.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I mean, the Protestant Bible is fake. It doesn't contain
- 4:12Speaker 1: all the books of the Bible. Martin Luther bragged about
- 4:15Speaker 1: changing the words of Christ to fit his fake doctrines.
- 4:18Speaker 1: So whether it's a Gideon Bible or a King James
- 4:21Speaker 1: or a, you know, new happy word of the day Bible, whatever,
- 4:25Speaker 1: you know, Blue Jean Bible or whatever is in vogue
- 4:29Speaker 1: of the time, it's a false Bible. It has false
- 4:32Speaker 1: teachings in it, and it's incomplete. Only a Catholic Bible
- 4:36Speaker 1: should be owned and read and believed by a Catholic,
- 4:39Speaker 1: and we really do have a duty to give our
- 4:42Speaker 1: Protestant friends... catholic bibles and teach them this is the
- 4:47Speaker 1: real bible and if they read it they'll have to
- 4:50Speaker 1: become catholic because the catholic church is the only uh
- 4:53Speaker 1: christian church that fully agrees with the teachings of the
- 4:55Speaker 1: bible well anyway uh what uh you know what they
- 5:00Speaker 1: read is not in context and what they're taught is
- 5:02Speaker 1: lies we have to continue to instruct them in the
- 5:05Speaker 1: truth using real catholic bibles at one point the church
- 5:09Speaker 1: taught that all Protestant bibles should be destroyed and honestly
- 5:12Speaker 1: it's probably still the best solution The father of lies, Satan,
- 5:16Speaker 1: has twisted the words of Scripture at least since he
- 5:19Speaker 1: tested Jesus. Remember, Satan quoted Scripture, just like Martin Luther.
- 5:25Speaker 1: He continues to do so today through Protestant Bibles and
- 5:28Speaker 1: heretical doctrines. So there's an uncomfortable truth, but it is
- 5:32Speaker 1: the truth. And just thank God you're Catholic and you
- 5:34Speaker 1: have a real Bible preserved by the one institution Christ
- 5:38Speaker 1: instituted to give us the Bible. to compile the books,
- 5:42Speaker 1: to decide what belonged to the canon and not, to
- 5:44Speaker 1: translate them into a common language, to preserve it for 2,000 years,
- 5:48Speaker 1: and to teach what it means, absolutely inherently. Only the
- 5:52Speaker 1: Catholic Church has that power, given by Jesus, through the
- 5:56Speaker 1: Holy Spirit. Y'all have a great day, and I'll talk
- 5:59Speaker 1: to you tomorrow.
