- 0:00[ on-hold music] Welcome back to The Most Important Question today, where in just a couple minutes or less, we apply the Actually Pro-Life Principles to a news headline and then help you answer the most important question, "What can I do?"
- 0:18[on-hold music] So just had a great conversation with Representative Deluzio, who's got four kids.
- 0:32So I wanted to talk about kids a little more real quick here at my fancy desk, because it's that time of year where two things happen in America, baby.
- 0:40One, school picture day, and two, kids getting fucking murdered at school on picture day. Last Thursday, parents in Bend, Oregon dropped their kids off at Silver Rail Elementary School for picture day.
- 0:51We've all done that. Did they wear what you wanted? Probably not. Did you fight about it? Probably. Whatever.
- 0:56It didn't matter, 'cause they probably didn't get their pictures taken, 'cause at one o'clock, a sixteen-year-old with a pump shotgun jumped over the fence, shot through the glass of the locked door, walked into the first classroom on the left, the special needs classroom.
- 1:09He killed three kids who were five, eight, and eleven, and their twenty-five-year-old teacher. You've already heard about all this shit.
- 1:17You've already heard about the hero, the dad on his lunch break who got his pistol out of the truck and followed them in and, and ended the whole thing, and even the president called him a hero. Here's the thing.
- 1:27This isn't like Uvalde. The first 911 call came at twelve fifty-nine. Police got there three minutes later. The school had locks. School had cameras. School had done the drills. Doors were locked.
- 1:39He just shot through the glass. Didn't fucking matter. Three minutes, four people dead, three of them kids. Twenty-five might as well be eight.
- 1:47Oregon has a law since 2021 that says a gun that nobody's holding gets a trigger lock or a locked box, and if a kid gets a hold of an unlocked one, the law says that is on the owner.
- 1:57We don't know yet, as of right now, I guess, whether it was locked or not. I have no idea. I'm so fucking tired of thinking about this. The federal house already passed a similar law. It's called Ethan's Law.
- 2:09It's been sitting in the Senate, of course, since 2025. Got a gun in your house, fucking lock it up, and then donate, join up with Everytown, Brady, whatever it takes. Go to whatcanido.earth, and let's make this stop.
- 2:25[on-hold music] Thanks for listening. Subscribe for more of these and for my longer conversations with incredible humans who've already asked and answered the most important question for themselves.
