- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, Jen, so we were talking about how to
- 0:01Speaker 1: get out of a speeding ticket and whether it worked
- 0:04Speaker 1: or not, your excuse. So, Jen, we know you got
- 0:06Speaker 1: pulled over. What was your excuse?
- 0:12Speaker 2: Okay, so I have to give you a little bit
- 0:16Speaker 2: of a backstory first. So I'm driving a minivan, which
- 0:19Speaker 2: I don't normally drive, but we had rented it to
- 0:21Speaker 2: go to California. And I had to go take the
- 0:23Speaker 2: minivan back so that I could get my other car.
- 0:25Speaker 2: And I was in a fight with my daughter, who
- 0:27Speaker 2: was 13 years old at the time. And I had
- 0:29Speaker 2: my son in the car with me, but my daughter
- 0:31Speaker 2: was at home. So her and I were in this
- 0:33Speaker 2: huge fight, and I needed to get away from her.
- 0:35Speaker 2: And so I literally sped off in his minivan. And
- 0:38Speaker 2: the cop actually saw me speeding, and he flashed his
- 0:41Speaker 2: lights at me to basically tell me to slow down,
- 0:43Speaker 2: which just made me even more mad. So I sped up.
- 0:46Speaker 2: So he turned around, and he got behind me, and
- 0:49Speaker 2: I slammed my brakes on. He was on a motorcycle.
- 0:51Speaker 2: I slammed my brakes on. He almost went over my minivan. Okay.
- 0:55Speaker 2: And he came up, and he didn't know if he should, like,
- 0:57Speaker 2: draw his gun. He didn't know what to say. Like,
- 0:59Speaker 2: he was like, what the hell are you doing? And
- 1:01Speaker 2: I was bawling. And I was like, my daughter's a spy.
- 1:05Speaker 1: And I can't ever go home. I would have written
- 1:09Speaker 1: you a ticket. I would have written you a ticket.
- 1:11Speaker 1: He absolutely did not.
- 1:13Speaker 2: He turned off his body cam and spent the next
- 1:15Speaker 2: 20 minutes trying to counsel me.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:18Speaker 1: How nice. That is really nice.
- 1:20Speaker 2: That's a good human being.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:22Speaker 2: My son was sitting in the passenger seat. My son
- 1:24Speaker 2: was like, Mom, they're going to take you to jail.
- 1:26Speaker 2: What is wrong with you?
- 1:30Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Don't let him grow up. Don't ever let him grow up.
- 1:33Speaker 2: I was a mess.
- 1:35Speaker 1: You poor thing. Wow. What a great story. All right, Jen,
- 1:38Speaker 1: hold on. What a great story. Dottie, all right, you
- 1:41Speaker 1: got pulled over. We just want to hear the excuse,
- 1:44Speaker 1: and we're going to guess whether you got out of
- 1:45Speaker 1: it or not.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Well, actually, it's not that we got pulled over for speeding.
- 1:50Speaker 3: It was actually pulled over for a different reason. But
- 1:53Speaker 3: the excuse actually was just my husband got out of
- 1:56Speaker 3: the car. The cop asked him to get out of
- 1:58Speaker 3: the car to, like, go to the back of the
- 2:00Speaker 3: car to talk to him and stuff. And we had
- 2:02Speaker 3: just gotten ice cream cones from McDonald's, and it was hot.
- 2:07Speaker 3: And I think the officer just felt really bad because
- 2:12Speaker 3: my husband's ice cream cone was melting all over the
- 2:14Speaker 3: place and he was trying to eat it quickly so
- 2:16Speaker 3: that he could deal with them. So, yeah, it was
- 2:19Speaker 3: just a very funny thing. And he knew that basically
- 2:22Speaker 3: we made a U-turn where we weren't supposed to. And
- 2:24Speaker 3: my mother was in the back seat and she said,
- 2:27Speaker 3: you can't make a U-turn here. And he's like, watch
- 2:30Speaker 3: me because it's like in the middle of the night.
- 2:32Speaker 3: And he did it, and we were all laughing, and
- 2:33Speaker 3: then all of a sudden the cop lights up.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Boo.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:38Speaker 3: He's like, next time maybe listen to your mother-in-law.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Well, I mean, it sounds like you got out of it.
- 2:42Speaker 1: So you got out of it? Yes, we did.
- 2:45Speaker 3: I think he felt bad for my husband because his
- 2:47Speaker 3: ice cream was literally all.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Over the place. She kind of tipped off the getaway.
- 2:51Speaker 1: All right. Very good. Well, thank you, Donnie. It's a
- 2:53Speaker 1: great story. Thanks for listening.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Have a great day, guys.
