- 0:51Speaker 1: A Hey, y'all, welcome this week's show. I hope you
- 1:02had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Well we're in
- 1:07the New Year, I mean the New Year's Eve, New
- 1:09Year's Day, the holiday. I certainly well, okay, I took
- 1:14a little time off. You may have known. We didn't
- 1:16have a show there for a few days, and I
- 1:19took a little time off just to be sick. Yes,
- 1:21I caught a bad colt like the day before Christmas
- 1:25and realizing that no one was going to be listening
- 1:28to podcasts during the holidays. You know, people are busy
- 1:34doing things with family and then friends and spouses and such.
- 1:39On New Year's Eve, I thought, you know what, I'm
- 1:41just going to take a few days off and just
- 1:44be sick. And I did just that. Had some good
- 1:51soup and time under a blanket and a lot of
- 1:54napping and coughing and all that fun stuff. But back
- 1:59on on the road recovery now, if not one hundred percent,
- 2:02I'm getting a little better each day, and probably about
- 2:04ninety percent. And it's a little congested. I sound a
- 2:08little shorter breath through a little horse, that's the deal.
- 2:10But you know, I'm not fevered anymore. I'm doing pretty good.
- 2:14I'm getting a little catching up on the work that
- 2:17I missed out on, and trying to get a little
- 2:19yard work done that I fell behind on, and everything
- 2:21just a little week's day. The weather is crazy here
- 2:25in North Carolina, much warmer and sunnier than it usually
- 2:28is this time of year, so it's a good opportunity
- 2:30to get a little bit of yard work done. Unfortunately,
- 2:34it's ruined my plans of going to the coast for oysters.
- 2:38I have a rule when it comes to oysters. Unless
- 2:41I am actually unless my feet can actually touch salt
- 2:45water or mud, I do not eat oysters when it's
- 2:48over seventy degrees. I tried one time. I got very,
- 2:52very very sick horse food and poison i've ever had.
- 2:55I love oysters. I love raw oysters. I love fresh
- 2:58raw oysters. I love roast oysters. I love fried oysters.
- 3:01I just love oysters. And every winter I look forward
- 3:05to going down and getting a few bushels of oysters,
- 3:08but not until it gets cold again. Looks like next
- 3:10week is going to be back in the twenties, so
- 3:12maybe I can do that. But anyway, let's pick up
- 3:14where we left off, we'll start with radio replies. The
- 3:18questioner asks the priests, why does not the Catholic Church
- 3:21baptize by immersion? And well, it was a lot more
- 3:28common when I was a kid. You go to a
- 3:29country Baptist church and they'd actually have this like small
- 3:33pool and they would dip you in it. Before then
- 3:35they would take people into the river or the pond
- 3:38and dip people in it. That was immersion. You don't
- 3:41really have immersion baptism and many denominations anymore, but at
- 3:46this point, I guess it was a little more common.
- 3:48The priest ansor such a method of baptism, though valid,
- 3:52is not necessary. From the very beginning, baptism was administered
- 3:55both by immersion and by infusion or pouring water upon
- 3:59the forehead. Person says, by relinquishing immersion, you lose the
- 4:03significance of the original rite, and the priest's answer. Immersion
- 4:08was never thought necessary in the Christian Church. After Saint
- 4:10Peter's first sermon, three thousand people were baptized, and it
- 4:14is most unlikely that it could have been by immersion.
- 4:17Above all, in the light of recent research into the
- 4:20water supply available to Jerusalem at that time. D k
- 4:25or Teaching of the twelve written about year ninety says, thus,
- 4:29baptized if you have not fresh water, baptized with other water.
- 4:33If you cannot do it in cold, use warm. If
- 4:35you have neither, pour out on the head water three
- 4:38times in the name of the Father and the Son
- 4:40and the Holy Spirit. Either form is valid. If immersion
- 4:44were necessary, what would you do with the ridden bed
- 4:48ridden invalids in the dying? Nor is significance lost by
- 4:52pouring the true significances that grace washes the soul as
- 4:56water washes the body. The true sign of washing is
- 4:59retained by any true ablutions. Washing does not always imply
- 5:03taking the plunge bath. Burial with Christ is signified by
- 5:08washing away the death of sin and the resurrection of
- 5:11the new life of grace. In any case, Christ left
- 5:14the practical application of such matters to his church, saying,
- 5:17whatsoever you shall bind on earth, should be bound also
- 5:20in heaven Matthew eighteen eighteen. And he promised to be
- 5:25with his church, persevering, preserving her from any misuse of
- 5:29his power. The person says, the d dot K proves nothing,
- 5:33and they answered, it is evidence that the instruction circulated
- 5:36amongst Christians while Saint John the Apostle was still living.
- 5:39And see this is a big point. The vast majority
- 5:44of Protestants are absolutely ignorant of all early church writing.
- 5:49They say the Bible alone, the Bible's all I need,
- 5:52all right. Well, for the first four hundred years or so,
- 5:54Christians had no Bible. I mean, I've explain this many
- 5:57many times. It was in the mid three hundreds when
- 6:00the Council of Nicea decided what books were going to
- 6:03be in the Bible. It was almost four hundred a d.
- 6:06Before Saint Jerome had it translated it all into a
- 6:09common language. Before that it had been in Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic,
- 6:14and Latin, and he put it all into Latin so
- 6:16everybody could read it. It was basically the same time
- 6:20it was, well, just a little after that, I think
- 6:22the entire Bible was also translated fully into Greek. So
- 6:27Christians had no Bible. A church would have a letter
- 6:31that maybe Saint Paul had written them. If you were
- 6:33in Ephesus, you had the letter to the Ephesians, right.
- 6:36If you were in another town, you would not have
- 6:40that letter. You didn't have the acts, you didn't have
- 6:42Revelations you didn't have. You might have one copy of
- 6:46one of the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luther, John, you may
- 6:49have James, right, the Letter of Saint James. You may
- 6:53have Peter, but you'd only have one or two of those.
- 6:57And as far as the Old Testament, there was a
- 7:00great deal of debate over which books should be in
- 7:02there or not, and it was finally decided in the
- 7:06mid eight hundreds. Really more like the late eight hundreds.
- 7:09I'm three hundreds, I'm sorry, like three eighty was when
- 7:12Saint Jerome was translating, So mid three hundreds. So for
- 7:15almost four hundred years Christians had no Bible. What they
- 7:19had was the teachings of the Apostles. Christ's teachings through
- 7:26the Apostles given to their successors. Some of the first
- 7:31Christian writings we have, if not the very first, are
- 7:34from Pope Saint Clement, the third Pope, who was ordained
- 7:37by Saint Peter. In this is like eighty a d.
- 7:42Maybe I'm gonna say, you just say somewhere between seventy
- 7:45and one hundred. We'll go with that. I'll give it
- 7:46a broad range. And he says one, he's the pope everybody,
- 7:52every Christian in the world submits to his authority. Stay
- 7:56away from heredics. I mean, this is what we believe
- 8:01as Christians. And he mentions the Catholic Church specifically by name.
- 8:07So see for that reason, Protestants have to deny early
- 8:11Christian writing because they have this myth that the Catholic
- 8:15Church only developed after over four hundred and something and
- 8:19really only during the you know, early part of the
- 8:23Christian Roman Empire. It's totally faults where there are thousands
- 8:29and thousands of pages of written written by the first popes,
- 8:34deacons and theologians and people, you know like Clement of Alexandria,
- 8:41who spent his time debating the Gnostics. The entire Gnostic
- 8:46heresy unfolded before there was even a Bible. This is
- 8:50very important to understand. The first official document that Christians
- 8:55had they just as pre said, it was written around
- 8:59ninety eight D. It's actually probably dated a little closer
- 9:02to seventy. Either way, as he said, Saint John was
- 9:07still alive. He was the last of the Apostles, the
- 9:10only one not martyred. He lived a very long life.
- 9:13There are actually letters between him and Gosh. I think
- 9:17is a polycarp Er origin. He was polycarp In. There
- 9:24are actually letters written between him and Saint John and
- 9:28the blessed Virgin Mary who lived with Saint John at Patmos,
- 9:32and these are recorded. These are in our Christian libraries
- 9:36that have been passed down carefully for two thousand years.
- 9:40But the d do K means the Teachings of the Twelve.
- 9:43It was the first manual of we're Christians. This is
- 9:47what we believe. Remember this is like three hundred years
- 9:49before there's a Bible Christians. This was distributed, hand copied
- 9:55and distributed to churches throughout the ancient world. And it
- 9:58said we go to church on some we baptize in
- 10:02this way, and these are the rules for baptized. These
- 10:05are the rules for being confirmed. This is our essential
- 10:09proto creed. This is what we believe. These are the prayers.
- 10:13We say we believe in the real body and blood
- 10:16of Christ and the Eucharist, and this is who can
- 10:18receive the eucharists and how it's to be done. It
- 10:21was the first Catechism, so it's written while at least
- 10:26one of the apostles was still alive, probably more than
- 10:29one when it was composed. But we know, and it
- 10:31really got copied and distributed. It's the first Christian document,
- 10:40but Protestants deny its authenticity because to do so destroys Protestantism.
- 10:48It shows that the first Church, the first Christians, were
- 10:52fully and purely Catholic. It gives lie to all Protestant doctrine,
- 11:00and so in order to get around that, they just
- 11:02deny its existence. They have tried to claim throughout the
- 11:07centuries all that was a forgery, it was written thousands
- 11:09of years later or hundreds of years later. No, there's
- 11:13actually evidence the original documents. This has been dated carbon dating.
- 11:19I mean, the d do K is the really real,
- 11:22legit first written document of Christianity that has been preserved.
- 11:27I'm not saying well, because that has been preserved outside
- 11:32of the Bible, I should say, because of course the
- 11:34Gospels were written down the letters of Saint Paul to
- 11:37the various churches. But remember the Bible wasn't compiled until
- 11:43almost four hundred a d. So the first Christian document
- 11:47that was in wide circulation among Christians, the first one
- 11:51to actually explain this is what Christians believe, and this
- 11:54is how we worship, and this is the day we
- 11:56go to church and all that date to the time
- 12:00of the apostles and the very first popes, and it
- 12:04was authorized and distributed to the churches. And that's what
- 12:07Christians had for nearly three hundred years before the Bible
- 12:14was ever printed hand written. It would be another thousand
- 12:18years before there was a printing press. It would be
- 12:21another fifteen hundred years before most people were literate and
- 12:25could read the Bible. But the d do k in
- 12:28its current form, I mean, its modern form, written and
- 12:30printed in a nice little book, is only about thirty
- 12:33pages or so. This was going to be you know,
- 12:35this was hand written on a long sheet and distributed
- 12:39and the priests would read it to the congregation, the
- 12:41priests it would use it to educate the deacons, they
- 12:43would use it. And yeah, I mean it is literally
- 12:47the foundational document of Christianity as far as being widely accepted,
- 12:55widely distributed, and predating the Bible by almost three hundred years.
- 13:01You know, like I said, you may have had one
- 13:03of the Gospels if you were lucky, and you've been
- 13:05even luckier if somebody in your church could actually read
- 13:09it and was literate. You know, that was a big
- 13:11issue in the ancient world. That was a big issue.
- 13:14Well into the eighteen hundreds. Most people were not literate.
- 13:18So you know, Protestants say, Catholic Church hates the Bible,
- 13:21Catholic Church won't let you read the Bible. Well, first
- 13:23of all, the Catholic Church compiled the Bible hand copied
- 13:27it one at a time by devoted monks for centuries,
- 13:32distributed it. Taught people to read, so they could read
- 13:35the Bible and become priests and preach their congregation and
- 13:38read the Word of God to them. The Gutenberg invented
- 13:42the printing press. He was a Catholic. There is no
- 13:45Bible without the Catholic Church. The Bible was essentially the
- 13:48family document of the Catholic Church. Protestants have no claim
- 13:52to the Bible, especially after Luther and Knox and Calvin
- 13:56and all them stripped out the books of the Bible
- 13:58they didn't like and changed the words of Jesus to
- 14:01fit their false doctrine. A Protestant Bible is a fake Bible.
- 14:05Catholics have the real Bible, and the are the and
- 14:09the Catholic Church is the only authority on earth given
- 14:11by God to interpret the Bible. But it's very important
- 14:15to understand, before the Bible, there was the d do K,
- 14:18and the only way Protestants can refute the d do
- 14:22K is to deny its existence. It's very important, very
- 14:27very very important to have a copy of the d
- 14:29do K and to share it with all your Catholic friends,
- 14:33make sure they're familiar with it, and whenever confronted by
- 14:36a Protestant, to say, hey, this book right here, this
- 14:40was the first published document. There you got the first
- 14:44published document that was the word I was looking for
- 14:46by Christians, not just a letter, an actual book that
- 14:52was distributed among churches. This is what the real church believes,
- 14:56because the apostles themselves authorized dictated put it out there.
- 15:03The same authors of the Bible wrote this three hundred
- 15:06years before we had a Bible. Very important. Anyway, the
- 15:10person says, the d do K proves nothing, and that's
- 15:14going to be your Protestant response. They're going to deny
- 15:16it's even real. You can prove to them very easily
- 15:19that it is real. They answer, the evidence of instruction
- 15:24circulated amongst Christians. Way, Saint it is evidence that the
- 15:27instructions circulated among Christians. Why Saint John the Apostle is
- 15:31still living, and that's true. The guy goes on and says,
- 15:36Scripture nowhere says and infants were baptized, and they answer
- 15:39it nowhere says they were not, and implicitly demands that
- 15:42they should be. And the person says, do we not
- 15:46only read of adult baptism in the New Testament? And
- 15:48they say, no, we read of some adult baptisms, but
- 15:52they were not administered precisely because the subjects were adults,
- 15:55but because they happen to be converted as adults. Acts
- 15:59fifteen commit rates the reception of two complete households into
- 16:02the church by Saint Paul, and we are not told
- 16:05that adults only in those household were received. Christ told
- 16:09the apostles to teach and baptize all nations, and the
- 16:11term all nations certainly includes men, women, and children. Again,
- 16:15Saint Paul tells us that baptism is the circumcision of Christians,
- 16:20and we know that circumcision was administered to children Colossians
- 16:24second Colauss two two. I guess the Colautionans two two
- 16:28is what they say, or is the new law to
- 16:31be less perfect than the old, containing no purifying right
- 16:34for infants? Your ideas are opposed to the whole tenor
- 16:37of Christianity. Christ is the second atom. If the children
- 16:40of Adam are born subject to original sin and its penalties,
- 16:43so they can be born again of Christ into the
- 16:47life of grace. Or is Adam to be able to
- 16:49ruin all? Yet Christ be unable to save any except adults.
- 16:54What is of the flesh is flesh, and what is
- 16:56of the spirited spirit? Children by virtue of their natural
- 16:59birth of the flesh. And our Lord insists, then unless
- 17:02one be born again, he cannot near the Kingdom of God.
- 17:05Do not be misled by the English translation unless a
- 17:07man be born again. The original Greek does not use
- 17:10that word in its text. It says unless anyone be
- 17:13born again, and a child is someone. Yes, they are
- 17:18obviously speaking to a Baptist. Baptists are pretty much the
- 17:22only denomination that insists that only adults can be baptized.
- 17:26Baptists are always amazed when they make that statement. They
- 17:29make it very boldly, and you know, they say, the
- 17:31Bible says only adults can be baptized, And I say
- 17:33where they say that, Well, they can't answer that. I say,
- 17:36where does it say that infants can't be baptized or
- 17:39children can't be baptized. Well, they can't say that, but
- 17:42it's their doctrine, it's what they believe to their core.
- 17:45And then and they say, all Protestants know this. And
- 17:48they said, well, wait a minute. The Lutherans baptized infants,
- 17:52the Presbyterians baptized infants, the Anglicans and Episcopals baptized infants,
- 17:57the Methodist baptized infants. Actually, your Baptist church is the
- 18:02only church that doesn't baptize infants and children. On what
- 18:07basis is that? Well, you know, our teachers wrote this
- 18:10one hundred years ago. I said, well, great, my teachers
- 18:14wrote this about seventy a d in the D dot K.
- 18:19And if you don't like that, let's go to Pope
- 18:21Saint Clement, and let's go to Origin and Polycarp and
- 18:25Clement of Alexandria. And you know, and they can't. They
- 18:30can I accept it because the Baptist teaching is not
- 18:33only that one only an adult can be baptized, but
- 18:37that the all early Christians were essentially Baptists, and that
- 18:42Catholicism is some Roman perversion of true Christianity. When you
- 18:47show them the original documents the truth, the historical evidence.
- 18:51They just deny it. You can say to them, you know,
- 18:55show me one church built before you know, a thousand,
- 19:00a d. Five hundred years before the restpormation. Show me
- 19:04one church built before five hundred AD. Show me one
- 19:07church built in the first two three hundred years of
- 19:10Christianity that wasn't a Catholic church. Show me one that
- 19:14was a Baptist church. Show me one where they didn't
- 19:17receive the Eucharus. Show me one where they didn't baptize infants.
- 19:21Show me one that doesn't have iconography on the wall,
- 19:25you know, paintings and statues of saints and angels. They
- 19:29can't because their entire doctrine. It's not doctrine, it's in doctrination.
- 19:38It's a mythology. It's accepting a falsehood that you know,
- 19:44you can't blame people in the seventeen hundreds and eighteen
- 19:46hundreds who were illiterate and uneducated and didn't have access
- 19:50to libraries and museums and the entire information of every
- 19:55you know, the entire history of everything on the internet.
- 19:58You know, a charismatic preacher could go in and start
- 20:00yelling and screaming and thumping his Bible and people would
- 20:03believe him. They had no idea what he was telling
- 20:05him was untrue. Usually, he didn't have any idea what
- 20:08he was saying was untrue. He was just parroting what
- 20:10he had been taught. But now there is really no excuse.
- 20:15There is honestly no justification for a single Baptist church
- 20:19to exist, nor Methodist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Anglican. We can disprove
- 20:25the lies, the foundational lies of Protestantism, in the click
- 20:30of a button. In the click of a button, I
- 20:33can pull up Martin Luther bragging about changing the words
- 20:37of the Bible to fit his false doctrine. I can
- 20:40pull up Martin Luther claiming accusing Christ of adultery, I mean,
- 20:44really shocking statements. I can pull up Martin Luther saying
- 20:48that if he would refuse to baptize even Abraham because
- 20:53he was a Jew, he would tire a stone around
- 20:54his neck and throw them in the river. I can
- 20:57show them the evil that their denomination was founded on.
- 21:03So what do they do. They get angry and they deny.
- 21:05You know, Martin Luther ever said that eventually they just
- 21:08stopped talking to you. I can show you know historical
- 21:11evidence that disproves everything that Protestantism teaches and believes. It's
- 21:17in opposition to the Catholic Church, and the only way
- 21:20they can get around it is to remain wilfully ignorant
- 21:23and absolutely close their minds to the truth. Now, what
- 21:26does the Bible say about that talks about the hardness
- 21:29of hearts? They wouldn't believe because their hearts were hardened.
- 21:33I'm telling you there is no longer in this day
- 21:35and time any justification for Protestantism whatsoever. It was a
- 21:41lie to start with, and it's a what do they say,
- 21:44their lies and their damn lives. It's a damn lie. Anyway.
- 21:48Let's get on to our sacrament of the day, and
- 21:51it's holy orders from Father Sparago's exhaustive Catechism of the
- 21:57Catholic Church. At the time of his essential and our
- 22:00Lord lifted up his hands, let me get simplar. Here, here,
- 22:05here we go. At the time of his ascension, our
- 22:08Lord lifted up his hands, blessed his apostles, and sent
- 22:11them forth into the world to preach the Gospel and
- 22:14dispense the sacraments. Luke twenty four fifty. The bishop does
- 22:19much the same when he ordains priests. The imposition of
- 22:22hands signifies that something is given, since gifts are distributed
- 22:25by the hand. The administration of holy orders, or at
- 22:29the administration, the bishop lays his hands on the candidate
- 22:34and for ordination calls down upon them the Holy Ghost,
- 22:37anoints their hands and presents the sacred vessels to them.
- 22:42They thereby receive an addition to a plenitude of grace.
- 22:46The sacradotal that means priestly power more especially or holy
- 22:51power holy or priestcy in Latin as sacradose, So sacradotal
- 22:56means the office of the priest to essentially more especial,
- 23:00the power to offer the holy sacrifice and to forgive sins.
- 23:03Holy orders are administered during the celebration of the Mass.
- 23:07The candidates for organization first prostrate themselves upon their faces
- 23:10before the altar. Then the bishop lays hands upon the
- 23:13head of each one. The priests present, doing the same
- 23:17the next raised them in the sacredotal vestimates clothes. The
- 23:21priest wears his uniform, if you want to put it
- 23:24that way. The viny saintly spiratus is sung and anoints
- 23:30the hands of each one in turn with the sacred
- 23:32Chrism in the form of a cross. It's the blessed oil.
- 23:35He then gives the chalice and patent into their hands,
- 23:38thereby conferring on them the power to offer the holy sacrifice,
- 23:42after which he addresses them with the words of Our Lord,
- 23:44receive you. The Holy Ghost who sends you shall forgive.
- 23:48They are forgiven. Finally, the newly ordained are required to
- 23:53promise respect and obedience to the bishop. The ceremony of
- 23:57anointing of hands and presentations sacred vessels is only accessory.
- 24:01It was not in use until the ninth century and
- 24:04now has no place in the Greek ritual. Not only
- 24:07supernatural powers, but graces are imparted in Sacrament of Orders.
- 24:12By this sacred ordinance, the Holy Ghost is given. The
- 24:16Sacrament of Holy Orders was administered in the time of
- 24:18the Apostles. We read that the Apostles consecrated Paul and
- 24:21Barnabas with their prayer and imposition of hands Acts thirteen
- 24:26to three. Of course, Martin Luther denied the priesthood, and
- 24:29that's the foundation of all Protestantism, denying the priesthood and
- 24:33the sacraments. Even though it's right there in the Bible
- 24:35that's supposed to be the sole authority for a Protestant.
- 24:39Saint Augustine speaks of orders as a sacrament when he
- 24:41inveyes against the Donatists, who asserted that while baptism confers
- 24:45what can never be lost, the right of administering baptism
- 24:48may be lost both he declares or sacraments, and can
- 24:51only be received once a sacrament of orders was unquestionably
- 24:55instituted by our Lord at the Last Supper. The office
- 24:58of the priesthood, to which man is raised by holy orders,
- 25:01is one of great dignity, but likely one of no
- 25:03slight difficulty, and of vast responsibility. The priesthood is the
- 25:07highest dignity upon earth. It surpasses that of kings and emperors,
- 25:11and even the angels themselves, For as Saint John christosim remarks,
- 25:16the power of kings is only over the bodies of men,
- 25:19where that of the priest is over their souls. On
- 25:22the priests or conferred powers not accorded to angels. For
- 25:26to what angel was it ever given to convert bread
- 25:28into the body of the Lord by his word? And
- 25:31not all the angels together could grant pardon for a
- 25:34single sin. By his office, a priest is only concern
- 25:38with heavenly things. He stands between God and man. He
- 25:42lays our petition before the Most High and conveys divine
- 25:45graces on us. He is a mediator between God and man.
- 25:49The Angel of the Lord of hosts this Malachi two seven,
- 25:54the messenger of God to make known his will to men.
- 25:57He is God's representative, his ambassador, his This is a
- 26:01hard one to say. Plenty potentiary, plenty potentieri. Hmm, okay,
- 26:10So I'm gonna break this down. Plenty meaning full plentitude,
- 26:14you know, plenary, potentate meaning official. So he's the official
- 26:22that exercises his full authority. There we go. Therefore, whatsoever
- 26:28honor we show the priest we pay to God himself,
- 26:31does not our Lord say to himself, He that heareth
- 26:34you heareth me, and he that despises you despitheses me
- 26:39Luke ten sixteen. In fact, Saint Peter Damien says, God
- 26:43actually follows the priest, for what he declares on earth
- 26:46is ratified in heaven, and at his word. The second
- 26:49person of the Holy Trinity becomes flesh beneath his hands,
- 26:52as at the incarnation. Hence we do well to a
- 26:55priest to address the priest as your reverence. Saint Francis
- 26:58of ASSISI used to say that if he met an
- 27:01angel and a priest at the same time, he should
- 27:03salute the priest first. The sacradento office is one of
- 27:06great difficulty. The obligations resting upon the priests are neither
- 27:11few nor light. He has to recite the brevy I
- 27:15know want I have trouble with breviary. I think the
- 27:19way it's pronounced b r v a r y daily,
- 27:23which cannot be done under an hour and a quarter
- 27:27he is. In other words, it takes longer than an
- 27:29hour and fifteen minutes to say those prayers. He has
- 27:32pledged to life long celibacy. He has to visit the
- 27:34sick at any hour of the day or night when
- 27:36he may be called upon. He has to take the
- 27:38last sacraments to the dying, however contagious the disease from
- 27:41which they are suffering. He often has to sit for
- 27:44long hours in the confessional to fasclate on account of
- 27:47late masses. He is bound to renounce all worldly amusements,
- 27:51to be liberal towards the poor, and much more besides,
- 27:54priests so ought to be the salt of the earth
- 27:56Matthew five thirteen. Nor must it be overlooked that elles
- 28:00priests are, in the present day frequently the objects of
- 28:03suspicion and persecution, and their apostolic labors are ill rewarded.
- 28:08The votaries of the world are inclined to treat their
- 28:10priests like a dog, and like the dog of the
- 28:14fable who bit the hand that was stretched out and
- 28:16save him from drowning. Priestly office is besides one of
- 28:22immense responsibility. If the wolf comes and rends the sheep,
- 28:26the shepherds taking a task, so it is with the priests.
- 28:29They have to render account that the souls committed to
- 28:31their charge Hebrews thirteen seventeen. The duties of those who
- 28:35have to give an account for souls, says Saint Bernard,
- 28:40are heavy and onerous. On the day of his ordination,
- 28:44Saint John Christosum said, I now need your prayers one
- 28:48thousandfold more or less than the day of judgment. I
- 28:50should be cast into the exterior darkness. Since the sacradotal
- 28:54office is in itself an office of such great dignity,
- 28:57we owe profound respect to the priest on account of
- 29:00his office, even if his life should not correspond to it.
- 29:04Nothing can take away the dignity attaching to the priest
- 29:06the office, not even an ungodly life. Therefore, we ought
- 29:10always to entertain great reverence for it, even pagan monarchs
- 29:14who have been known to manifest deep veneration for priests
- 29:18of the True God. When Alexander the Great was about
- 29:21to make a triumphal entry into Jerusalem, the High Priest
- 29:24went out to meet him with all the priests arrayed
- 29:27infessoral garments, in order to ask a favor of him.
- 29:30Alexander dismounted from his horse and instantly granted all that
- 29:33he asked. When the general of the army expressed surprise,
- 29:36Alexander replied, it is not the High Priest to whom
- 29:39I pay homage, but to the True God, whose servant
- 29:42he is. Attila the Hun, the Terrible King of the Huns,
- 29:46when advancing upon Rome to plunder the city, allowed himself
- 29:49to be prevailed upon by Popelio the Great to desist
- 29:52from his purpose. Yet Almighty God permits his priests to
- 29:55be encompassed with infirmity in order that they may have
- 29:58more compassion on them that are ignorant and that error
- 30:02Hebrews five two. Saint Francis Is sal said a priest,
- 30:05I will close my eyes to their faults and only
- 30:07see them as God's representatives. How blameworthy are those who
- 30:11publish far and wide the misdeeds of a priest are?
- 30:14We asked Saint Augustine to think slightly of Christ and
- 30:17the apostles, because there was a jewas among them, who
- 30:21will show me any body of men upon earth who
- 30:23are without faults. Since the office of the priesthood is
- 30:26one of much labor and grave responsibility, no man ought
- 30:29to take holy orders who is not called to the
- 30:32sacradotal state. Let no man become a priest who feels
- 30:36no attraction for the sacred ministry, who has no longing
- 30:39to save souls, who leads in a regular life, or
- 30:42who only thinks of the priesthood as a means of
- 30:43gaining a living easily and enjoying a comfortable competence. Parents
- 30:48are greatly to blame who force their sons to take
- 30:50orders without a vocation. For those who enter the priesthood
- 30:53without a true vocation are unhappy and discontented all their lives.
- 30:57They neglect their duties your calling and gives scandal, and finally,
- 31:02too often lose their souls. For this reason, many eminent
- 31:05saints positively refuse to receive Holy orders or to be
- 31:09raised to the episcopate. Saint Francis of Assisi remained a
- 31:13deacon to the end of his days. Saint Cyprian concealed
- 31:15himself when he was to be appointed Bishop of Carthage.
- 31:19Saint John Christosom and Saint Baso acted similar in a
- 31:22similar manner. They only accept it when they recognized it
- 31:25to be the will of God that they should do so.
- 31:28Almighty God calls the priesthood whom he will witness Our
- 31:32Lord's words to the apostles. You have not chosen me,
- 31:34but I have chosen you John fifteen sixteen. The sacrament
- 31:39of Holy Orders only confers the perpetual power, not the
- 31:42right to exercise the function of a priest. The newly
- 31:44ordained cannot therefore make you so in any place of
- 31:47their sacradoal powers until they have received a ecclesial authority authorization.
- 31:53The qualification for the sacred ministry consists in the transmission
- 31:56of powers appertaining to the sacradoal office those of a teacher,
- 32:00a priest, and a pastor. In the Old Testament, the
- 32:02priestly powers were hereditary in Aaron's family Exodus twenty eight.
- 32:09In the New Testament, they are handed down by spiritual
- 32:12dissent by means of holy orders. Besides these powers, the
- 32:15priest receives an ordination abundant grace is regarding his state,
- 32:20belonging to a status. Should have said. Outwardly he may
- 32:24appear the same, but inwardly he has a changed man.
- 32:27An indelible character is imprinted upon his soul. By that ordinance,
- 32:31the powers he can receive. He has received. The powers
- 32:34he has received. I gotta gett a sip of water.
- 32:36Here I am in a tongue tied awfully. It happens
- 32:40when my mouth gets struck. Outwardly he may appear the same,
- 32:46but inwardly he is a changed man. An indelible character
- 32:50is imprinted upon his soul by that ordinance. The powers
- 32:53he has received can never be lost in whatever sense
- 32:57he may fall. He who has once been a priest
- 33:00cannot again become a layman. That's according to the Council
- 33:02of Trent. A priest who has apostasized. There we go apostatized. Yeah,
- 33:11if he's an apostate and has been reconciled to the church,
- 33:14is not reordained. All the sacradotal acts of a priest
- 33:18who has seceded from the church are valid. Only he
- 33:21cannot forgive sins, except in the case of dying, when
- 33:24no other priests can be had. Priests of the schismatic
- 33:27Greek churches, the Greek Orthodox Church, and the Russians and
- 33:30all that are not ordained again if they return in
- 33:33allegiance to the Catholic Church. But Protestant clergy most certainly are.
- 33:38This is I've told you before. A priest, a vicar,
- 33:45friend of a family member, was outraged because as an
- 33:50Anglican vicar, I think they call himselves priests. They may.
- 33:55He was not allowed to receive communion in a Catholic church,
- 33:59but he thought more than that he should be able
- 34:01to give communion, he should be able to give the Euchrous.
- 34:04And the priests had to quietly but forcibly explain to
- 34:07him you you were not Catholic, You are not Catholic,
- 34:12you are not ordained in the Catholic Church. You cannot
- 34:14give the euchroust. Here you have no power or right
- 34:18to turn the body in blood, the bread and wine
- 34:20into the body and blood of Christ. You cannot forgive sins,
- 34:22You can have none the powers of the priesthood. Your
- 34:25church is not in communion with the one Holy Catholic,
- 34:29True Church, one Holy Catholic Apostolic. And I'll add the
- 34:32word true church. And not only that, you can't receive
- 34:37the euchrosts because you're not Catholic. I mean, someone had
- 34:41a very good analogy one time. They said they took
- 34:44a friend with him to Mass and at the last
- 34:47minute remembered that, you know, Protestants can't receive the Eucharist
- 34:50in the Catholic Church. And they quickly went to the
- 34:52missile and they went to that place that explained it.
- 34:54And Handah said, here read this real quick. When you
- 34:57go up, you know, go up for a blessing, you know,
- 34:59cross arms self, the piece of breast bless you, but
- 35:02you can't receive the Euchrist. And they expected their friend
- 35:05to be like, really kind of offended when they walked
- 35:07out of Mass. Instead, the young lady was so impressed.
- 35:13She said, I understand now that in the Catholic viewpoint.
- 35:18I don't think she was fully convinced yet. But in
- 35:19the Catholic viewpoint, the sacrament of the Eucharist is just
- 35:23like the sacrament of a marriage. Just like when you're married,
- 35:29you can't sleep with people you're not married to, you know,
- 35:32a marriage is exclusive between two people brought into union
- 35:36in a Catholic Church by a priest. Only Catholics can
- 35:41receive the Eucharist. Because you haven't been confirmed into the
- 35:45Catholic Church, you're not part of this body. And it
- 35:48really impressed the young lady, I think led to her
- 35:50conversion eventually. So this is something we really shouldn't be
- 35:54ashamed of at all. We should say, look, you know,
- 35:57if you want to receive the body in blood of Christ,
- 36:00please do so. Become Catholic and join us. You can
- 36:04be confirmed, you can receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
- 36:09You can receive exclusive promises through the Catholic Church that
- 36:14Jesus gave only to the Catholic Church and to no
- 36:16one else. No other church can claim it, no other
- 36:20church is valid, no other church has the power of
- 36:23the sacraments. So anyway, Protestant clergy must be ordained. They
- 36:29have to go through just like starting over, Ecclesiastical jurisdiction
- 36:34is given to the priests bias bishops. The bishops receive
- 36:38it from the Pope. The secular authorities have no power
- 36:40to grant ecclesiastical jurisdiction, for it is not theirs to give.
- 36:45Even in the time of the Apostles, the deacons were
- 36:48not nominated by the people. The Apostles ordained those who
- 36:51had been chosen and appointed, and appointed them to their
- 36:54works Acts sixty three and six. Saint Timothy was consecrated
- 36:58to the episcopate by the imposition of hands of the
- 37:02priesthood one Timothy one fourteen. Consequently, the apostles called themselves
- 37:06ministers of Christ one Corinthians. For one. Anyone who would
- 37:10attempt to exercise sacredat functions without the authorization of the bishop, would,
- 37:16as our Lord says, be a thief and a robber,
- 37:18because he entereth not by the door into the sheephold
- 37:22sheep fold, but climathin the other way John ten. So,
- 37:25in other words, all Protestant ministers are false. Not a
- 37:31single one was called to their ministry. They called themselves,
- 37:36their ego called them, maybe Satan called them. I don't know.
- 37:39Not a single one has authority given by Jesus. Not
- 37:42a single one can give the sacraments. There is not
- 37:44a single reverend Bob out There or Joel, or which
- 37:49other ones should we name. There is not a single
- 37:52one that has any authority to call himself a minister
- 37:56of God, nor is his church valid, nor is tea
- 38:00cheems to be listened to. He should be rejected as
- 38:03a herestic and an apostate until he rejoins the church.
- 38:06That's not my words, the words of Jesus, who said,
- 38:09if a man would not listen to the church, let
- 38:11him be unto you as a heathen. All right. A
- 38:16priest must have faculties for hearing confession from the bishop
- 38:19of the diocese where it happens to be. This is
- 38:22separate from the pastoral office. A catechist or teacher who
- 38:25imparts religious instructions should also have the episcopal authorization. Anyone
- 38:30who is so daring as to exercise any priestly function
- 38:33without having been admitted to Holy orders or without episcopal authorization,
- 38:37would in Catholic countries be punished by the secular government.
- 38:41At any rate, terrible chastisements would fall upon him By
- 38:45God King Osiahs presumed, in spite of the warning of
- 38:48the priests to burn incense at the altar of incense.
- 38:51He was immediately struck with leprosy and was a lep
- 38:54into the day of his death. In the time of Moses,
- 38:57Korey with the two hundred and fifty of the leading
- 38:59men of the synagogue rebelled against Moses and presumed to
- 39:03offer incense of the tabernacle. They were destroyed by fire
- 39:06of the Lord, and the earth swallowed up their ring
- 39:10leaders and their entire families as well. Actually, no one
- 39:14can be admitted into the priests the orders who has
- 39:16not obtained the age of twenty four years old. According
- 39:18to Council of Trent, the Holy See has the right
- 39:21of dispensing candidates for the priesthood if they are within
- 39:24twenty months of the required age. In other words, in
- 39:28an emergency, they may ordain somebody younger if they're within
- 39:31twenty months of the required age. Besides the required age,
- 39:34those who are to be raised the priesthood must possess
- 39:37the following qualifications. They must have the knowledge suited to
- 39:41and necessary for the due discharge of their functions. They
- 39:45must be conspicuous for piety and chastity, they must have
- 39:48been born in wedlock. I think I think after Vanakan
- 39:54two they did moderate on that. Now I'm not sure
- 39:57you're going to have to ask your priests or deacon
- 40:00about that. I think they basically said, you can't really
- 40:04blame or hold the child at fault for the sins
- 40:07of their parents. But I don't know for sure. I
- 40:11don't know for sure. I have never been called to
- 40:13the priesthood, and I don't know all the details of
- 40:16what it takes to become a priest. I don't want
- 40:17to be a priest. I've never wanted to be a priest.
- 40:19I never want to be a priest. People say, oh,
- 40:22you're forty eight years old, you're single, you should be
- 40:24a priest, and I say, I would be a horrible priest.
- 40:27God doesn't want me to be a priest. If God
- 40:30wanted me to be a priest, he would have led
- 40:31me become a priest. Hopefully he'll give me a wife
- 40:35at some point. I'd love to be a father and
- 40:36a husband, but if not, I have to accept it
- 40:39as it is. But I know for one thing for sure,
- 40:41I am not called to the priesthood or to be
- 40:44a monk. I'm not called a religious life in any way,
- 40:47shape or form. It goes against my entire constitution, my nature.
- 40:54I am not one to accept obedience easily. Yeah, that's
- 40:59a fall, But I accept to be to the church.
- 41:01As a layperson, I could not do what they do.
- 41:05I was a youth minister for a time. I know
- 41:07what it takes to be a minister and a Protestant church.
- 41:09It's ten times harder, if a thousand times harder in
- 41:12a Catholic church. Not going to happen. I'm just not
- 41:17suited to it. I'm suited to many things in life,
- 41:20wandering the woods, being a herbalist, writing. I'm a little
- 41:25too quick with my hot, with my temper, and quick
- 41:28my fists to ever be a priest. That's the God's
- 41:30honest truth. I'm a outdoorsman. I'm the rugged set. I'm not,
- 41:41you know, as refined as one might wish their priests
- 41:48to be. Besides, I just have no calling. There's nothing
- 41:52in my heart or mind that says you ought to
- 41:55do this. Now, write books, do a podcast, Yeah, that's
- 42:00I calling. I talk well, I write well. I don't
- 42:06take orders well in any way, shape or form right,
- 42:11So where was it must be men who have married
- 42:18twice or disqualified with the priesthood, and this would be
- 42:20lawful Catholic marriages. This to be widowers, yeah, or well
- 42:25maybe in all bit more lucky widowers, all those those
- 42:28have been married once man n er certain conditions be received.
- 42:32All men cannot be priests reference Sophesians four eleven to
- 42:36one Corinthians twelve twenty nine. Yet we frequently find all
- 42:40the faithful spoken of as priests in like one Peter
- 42:43two nine. Inasmuch as they ought to accomplish to the
- 42:46glory of God good works, which are a certain measure
- 42:50of spiritual oblation. They are priests in as much as
- 42:53they immolate themselves in the service of God as spiritual victims.
- 42:57In the same sense they're faithful. The faithful and general
- 43:00are spoken of as kings because they ought to rule
- 43:02over their fleshly Luss. Six other orders of ministry precede
- 43:07the priesthood and four less comprising a four lesser and
- 43:11two greater. By these several and diverse orders, as by
- 43:20certain steps, advance is made into the priesthood, again represent
- 43:23the Council of Trent. This is to emphasize the dignity
- 43:26of the priesthood. For the same reason, a fixed period
- 43:29of time must intervene between the reception of the different
- 43:31degrees of the higher orders. The first preparation for orders
- 43:35is the reception of the tonsure, by which a man
- 43:38is taken into the ranks of the clergy and becomes
- 43:40a cleric no longer layman. In giving the tonsure, a
- 43:44bishop cuts off some of the hair from the top
- 43:46of the candidate's head. After this, the four minor orders
- 43:51are given, which in part to him who receives them
- 43:54the right to minister to the priest by virtue of
- 43:57his office. The first of the three greater orders the
- 44:01subdiaconate orders. This was formally reckoned among the minor orders,
- 44:05but it is classed by the Council of Trendum on
- 44:07the major orders. It confers the right to arrange everything
- 44:10in the sanctuary and to serve the priests of the altar,
- 44:13and pledges the recipient to celibacy and to the recitation
- 44:17of the Breviary. The bishop may in power an ordinary
- 44:22priests to administer the tonsure and the four minor orders,
- 44:25but not so the greater Tonchuer. It's such an interesting
- 44:29word the game that goes back to Latin. You may
- 44:31have heard a barbershop called a ton soil parlor that
- 44:35actually means cutting of hair, A neat old word. I
- 44:38just kind of like it. There are three degrees of
- 44:41the sacrament of orders, the consecration of deacon's, priests and bishops.
- 44:46These three constitute but one sacrament. The second of the
- 44:49greater orders is the d'aconate, which was instituted by the
- 44:52apostles for the relief of the poor. It confers the
- 44:55power to preach, to baptize, and dispense Holy communion. The
- 44:58three most celebrated Eacans mentioned in the annals of the
- 45:01Church are Saint Stephen, who is stunned by the Jews,
- 45:04Saint Lawrence, who was broiled on the gridiron in Rome,
- 45:07and Saint Francis of Assisi, the founder of the Franciscan Order,
- 45:11who bore in his body the sacred stigmata, the wounds
- 45:13of Christ. In other words, he had nail holes through
- 45:16his hands and feet, and he didn't put them there,
- 45:19and usually the wound in the side as well, and
- 45:22sometimes on the forehead from the thorns, not always. They
- 45:25don't always present at the same time, but Padre Pia
- 45:29and several saints that have had the stigmata, there is
- 45:32one degree higher. Let's see okay. One year after the
- 45:37acceptance of the diaconate, follows ordination proper the priesthood, whereby
- 45:41the power is given to offer the holy sacrifice of Mass.
- 45:44And I forgives sense there is one degree higher than
- 45:46the priesthood, and that is of the episcopate. By this
- 45:51power is conferred by this is by this power is
- 45:57conferred to conferred to ordain priests, to administer confirmation and
- 46:03to rule the Church of God. For the consecration of
- 46:06a bishop, three bishops must take part. These three ordinations
- 46:10form but one sacrament. The consecration of deacons appertains virtually
- 46:14to the sacrament of Holy Orders, because it confers an
- 46:17inferior part of the sacradotal powers and is administered with
- 46:20the imposition of hands. In prayer, Saint Paul mentions deacons
- 46:24with their bishops and priests. The Fathers speak of them
- 46:27with the utmost reverence as the ministers of God, and
- 46:29the Council of Trent reckons them of ecclesiastical hierarchy. The
- 46:33consecration of priests appertains to the sacrament of orders because
- 46:37it is because by it the greater part of sacredotal
- 46:41powers are conferred. The consecration of bishops is the completion
- 46:45sacrament of orders. By it, the plenitude of the sacredotal
- 46:49powers is communicated. The principal distinction between a bishop and
- 46:52a priest is that the former can ordain priests and
- 46:54the latter cannot. When at the Council of Alexandria and
- 46:57three nineteen, the Aryans accused Saint the Nasus, who was
- 47:01bishop of that town, of having treated a priest name
- 47:05Issacris I guess with undue severity. The Synoid dismissed the
- 47:09charge on the ground said Issacris was not a priest,
- 47:11since he had not been ordained by a priest. Well,
- 47:14since he had been ordained by a priest but not
- 47:16a bishop. It is the duty of the faithful to
- 47:19pray God to send them good priests. Our Lord, says Praye,
- 47:23the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth laborers
- 47:26into his harvest Matthew nine thirty eight. Remember that a
- 47:29priest is a salvation or perdition of his flock. In
- 47:33the Old Testament we read that when other scourgeons were
- 47:35of no avail to turn the people hard to sind
- 47:38from the evil ways God sent upon them, the heaviest
- 47:41scourge of all wicked and corrupt priests. Let us therefore
- 47:45make it our continual prayer that we may have good priests.
- 47:49The Inbi days are appointed for this purpose. A wonderful
- 47:52old tradition. We need to bring back celebrating the Inbi days.
- 47:55I don't have time to get into that right now.
- 47:57Look that up. They're like fasting in holy days that
- 48:03we have throughout the year. That are pretty much we
- 48:08can observe them if we wish or not, according to
- 48:10the Church. Now, but it's a wonderful practice. We need
- 48:12to bring it back. Definitely. Special prayers should be offered
- 48:16to the holy ghosts. For unless the priest is enlightened
- 48:18by the Holy Spirit, we may apply to him the
- 48:20words if the blindly the blind both will fall into
- 48:23the pit. Matthew fifteen fourteen. All right, y'all, now will
- 48:29wrap up this one. We have one sacrament left. Next
- 48:35week we'll get into matrimony, and that's the one. Even
- 48:40the Bible it was named the hardest, and it's allowing
- 48:46divorce is essentially what fostered Protestantism. Martin Luther said he
- 48:52didn't like a divorce. He'd rather people just committed ultry
- 48:55and take mistresses. King Henry founded the Anglican Church because
- 49:00of the Pope would and gran him a divorce. Divorce
- 49:02is the cornerstone and founding principle of Protestantism, which is
- 49:06when I say Protestantism. Individual Protestants may be good, wonderful,
- 49:09well meaning, very faithful people, their Protestantism and its denominations
- 49:17are founded upon evil, the evil of breaking the sacrament
- 49:22of marriage and denying the priesthood, etc. Anyway, y'all have
- 49:28a great week, and I'll talk to you next time.
