Transcript
- 0:02SPEAKER_03: Hello, everyone.
- 0:04SPEAKER_03: Welcome back to another great episode of Truth Be Told.
- 0:06SPEAKER_03: I am Mickey, your host, and joining me today is my co-host Bethany.
- 0:10SPEAKER_03: And today we are going to dive back into a series that we started a couple weeks ago.
- 0:15SPEAKER_03: And that series is called Are You Thirsty?
- 0:18SPEAKER_03: So before we go any further, if you've missed those two episodes, make sure you go back and check them out.
- 0:23SPEAKER_03: But today marks a 25-episode milestone for us.
- 0:27SPEAKER_03: So we are one quarter of the way to getting to 100 episodes, which is crazy because when you're doing these episodes, sometimes they seem like they go really fast, and sometimes they seem like it takes us a while to get going.
- 0:40SPEAKER_03: But um we don't want to go too fast.
- 0:42SPEAKER_03: We want to we want to allow God to move.
- 0:44SPEAKER_03: So some people say, well, that's you only have 25.
- 0:47SPEAKER_03: Well, that's okay.
- 0:47SPEAKER_03: 25 is is we've had some wonderful episodes.
- 0:50SPEAKER_03: God has really um spoken through his word, and that's what this podcast is all about.
- 0:55SPEAKER_03: And we want to share God's truth with you and his word with you.
- 0:58SPEAKER_03: And so we're glad that you're here today.
- 1:00SPEAKER_03: Bethany, I'm glad that you're here today.
- 1:02SPEAKER_03: So I can't wait until we dive in and Bethany, come on and say hello, and why don't you give us a recap of the last two episodes that we had.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: And so to recap um the last two episodes, especially, we started talking about being thirsty for God and for his word, and um our first episode that we did on that really focused on um those who are not yet Christians having that desire to become Christians, and then our last episode that we did most recently, we focused on once again having that thirst, but Christians having that thirst, having a thirst to know God's word, to study it, to crave what it says.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: And so, yes, those two episodes were quite powerful, as any of our episodes have been because of the Holy Spirit, and so today's will be no different.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: Um I do believe that the Holy Spirit will speak through us today, and um what we share today will be a continuation.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: Yes, and so it's um I'm looking forward to it.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: I believe Mickey is as well, and so let's dive into it.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: So, Mickey, if you would like me to, I can go ahead and pray and we can get started.
- 3:25SPEAKER_03: Yep, that'd be awesome.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: All right, let's pray, dear Lord.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: I thank you for this time whenever anyone is watching or listening to this, Lord, that you would continue to speak as you have in past episodes.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: Lord, it's your word, and you said that your word would not return void unto you, and so we do invite you to speak through us and to speak to those who are listening or watching, Lord, that you would give them the insights that you know that they need from this, and so we commit it to you and we thank you for what you will do through it in Jesus' name, amen.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: And so today, now as we continue on this series, you know, after our last episode, I was I wasn't sure how the Lord was leading, what direction he wanted us to take for today's episode.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: But then on Sunday, one of the messages, one of the sermons that I heard was from Psalm 101.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: And that psalm is I don't hear it much, I don't hear it preached much, and so I was very intrigued by it, and I really felt that the Lord was showing me okay, this verse one, verse seven of chapter 101 is where you should start for the next episode for today's episode, and so that's where we'll be starting.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: Psalm 101 and verse 7 says, He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: He that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight, and this is a psalm of David, and we know that David went through a lot.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: Um, and I do believe that the Lord used him in a mighty way, and verse seven is no exception to that.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: No, when you read the chapter, chapter 101, and you come to verse 7, I do believe David was referring to physical um instances, but then the Lord really impressed upon me how that it can also be internal.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: And I got to thinking about who the father of lies is that is saying and so this verse is speaking to me that I need to be careful to not allow lies to be a part of my walk, my daily interactions, and that.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: And so I felt the Lord in person upon me.
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: Those who listen and watch this podcast, they need to be encouraged to do that same thing, to not not be so enamored with what Satan attacks us with, because he is the father of lights, and there's multiple verses that speak to that, but especially John 844, which I will mention, but before that, I would like to ask Mickey: is there anything that stands out to you about Psalm 1017?
- 9:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's a good question.
- 9:46SPEAKER_03: This this verse and chapter, um, the Psalm of David, if you will, because he is the author, he is literally trying to resolve um how to rid his home from the presence of falsehood and duplicity.
- 10:02SPEAKER_03: He wants there not to be any deceitfulness.
- 10:07SPEAKER_03: And he wants, when we think about this, think about it for your own selves and your own home and your own walk with the Lord.
- 10:15SPEAKER_03: He wants it to identify what type of integrity he has, I believe.
- 10:24SPEAKER_03: Um, I do believe some of it is within healing, but also he doesn't want to be battling in his own home.
- 10:32SPEAKER_03: And sometimes your home isn't a physical home, sometimes it's within your heart, by the way.
- 10:37SPEAKER_03: Just to just to clarify that.
- 10:38SPEAKER_03: I think he's speaking on both behalves, not just the realm of his of his living situation, but within his spiritual situation.
- 10:47SPEAKER_03: So I feel like this it's a lot deeper than just um going through and purging your home of uh the enemy or purging your home of things that um um might be um bringing some adversity or um conviction to to your life.
- 11:06SPEAKER_03: I think that conviction is is deep within him.
- 11:10SPEAKER_03: And so he is really trying to uh purify his his his whole being.
- 11:18SPEAKER_03: And and it does stop, it does start with your home um and yourself.
- 11:23SPEAKER_03: So I feel like there's a lot to what David's trying to do because nobody knows or has to see or watch what he's doing.
- 11:31SPEAKER_03: He's doing it on his own accord, um without getting, without going and being like, hey, hey, I just cleaned my house today.
- 11:41SPEAKER_03: I just did this today.
- 11:42SPEAKER_03: He's not going out there to get the pat on the back.
- 11:44SPEAKER_03: And that's what integrity is.
- 11:46SPEAKER_03: I love integrity because it means doing the right thing when nobody's watching, when nobody's expecting, when when you're not trying to get that attention or that that that validation or that pat on the back.
- 11:57SPEAKER_03: Integrity means literally um doing the right thing no matter what, no matter what the situation is.
- 12:05SPEAKER_03: And so I really feel like David is really trying to do that, and he's starting with his home because he doesn't want to live in falsehood.
- 12:13SPEAKER_03: David's had a his story, it's crazy.
- 12:15SPEAKER_03: He's he's done some crazy stuff, but he he recognizes it and he has that conviction, and that conviction, why I believe it's so deep for this scripture, um, because he wants the presence of the Holy Spirit in his life, and he's had the Holy Spirit over him before.
- 12:37SPEAKER_03: So he knows, he already knows what he has to do in order to get back to that peace.
- 12:43SPEAKER_03: If he wants that peace, he's gonna have to perge.
- 12:46SPEAKER_03: He's gonna have to um not allow deceit to dwell or work within his house.
- 12:51SPEAKER_03: Um, and he's gonna have to make sure it's it's rid of all lies.
- 12:56SPEAKER_03: And that's a hard thing.
- 12:57SPEAKER_03: Um, lies just seem to be something that people do.
- 13:01SPEAKER_03: Um, just seems to be something easy, you know, within just telling a story or or explaining something, you know, just a little bit of an exaggeration is a lie.
- 13:10SPEAKER_03: So I think he's really trying to um narrow in on what he is wanting to do within himself and within his home.
- 13:19SPEAKER_03: And I think this is a great scripture to start off with because as a Christian, as we get saved, we don't often think about this.
- 13:27SPEAKER_03: We're, you know, we're thinking about, okay, you know, now that I have Jesus in my heart, you know, I have a I have eternal salvation, and then we just keep on going the way we're going.
- 13:36SPEAKER_03: We don't, we don't have a change of heart posture.
- 13:39SPEAKER_03: Um, why is that?
- 13:40SPEAKER_03: Because we're not cleaning house.
- 13:42SPEAKER_03: We don't go in and clean our house.
- 13:44SPEAKER_03: We just continue on.
- 13:45SPEAKER_03: We just we leave the church and we go home and we go right back to where we left off.
- 13:50SPEAKER_03: And I believe this is a great scripture and a great example where it's explaining that we should not be doing this.
- 13:56SPEAKER_03: We really should be diving into this and what it looks like to be a Christian as far as what um, in order for us to to have that peace um and have Holy Spirit dwell within us, you can't have the you can't have the Holy Spirit and and and Satan dwelling in the same same place.
- 14:16SPEAKER_03: You can't have it.
- 14:17SPEAKER_03: It's one or the other.
- 14:19SPEAKER_03: So you want to have that reflection, you want to have that, you want to commit to that integrity, like David has in David has committed to this in his um in this psalm that he's talking about.
- 14:30SPEAKER_03: And I think it really um emphasizes what he you know what he's meaning um when it says, you know, that he he he that tells of lies shall not tarry.
- 14:41SPEAKER_03: He knows he's recognizing it, he's seeing sin.
- 14:45SPEAKER_03: And what's what God does when you get saved, it's not gonna be completely 100% like you're gonna have the whole world's gonna be flip-sided, you're gonna get the whole picture.
- 14:54SPEAKER_03: But when you do get saved and you truly are saved, God is going to start revealing not only himself, but he's also gonna start revealing the lies of the enemy.
- 15:03SPEAKER_03: And I think he's doing that in this very scripture with David.
- 15:06SPEAKER_03: He's revealing it to him and he's seeing it.
- 15:09SPEAKER_03: And because of his integrity, he's able to recognize it, and because he has Holy Spirit, he's able to recognize it.
- 15:15SPEAKER_03: So I think this is a great scripture to start start off with.
- 15:18SPEAKER_03: So I think um wonderful that we're we're talking about it, very powerful, and there's a lot of insights to it when we talk about thirsting for for Christ, because the more you realize um when we think about our own integrity, we and we want to be so pleasing to the Lord, it it really helps us to focus in on that connection that we've made with Jesus Christ.
- 15:49SPEAKER_03: So I think that I think this is a great scripture.
- 15:51SPEAKER_03: And you're right, Bethany, you don't hear about it too much.
- 15:54SPEAKER_03: A lot of people don't, hey, let's go to Psalms 101.
- 15:56SPEAKER_03: It's not like, hey, have you have you memorized this verse today?
- 15:59SPEAKER_03: But you know what?
- 16:00SPEAKER_03: It's a great verse to look at because there's a lot to it.
- 16:04SPEAKER_03: And I do believe that it really makes you want to look in the mirror and ask yourself the the question.
- 16:11SPEAKER_03: Like, are you really thirsty?
- 16:13SPEAKER_03: Are you really wanting to have that relationship with God?
- 16:16SPEAKER_03: And if so, what do we need to do?
- 16:18SPEAKER_03: What do we need to do?
- 16:19SPEAKER_03: We need to get rid of what's negative and what's bad and what's untruthful and all of that falsehood out of our homes and out of ourselves.
- 16:27SPEAKER_03: And it's it's not something that happens in a moment, it takes time.
- 16:31SPEAKER_03: So I want to emphasize that it's not just like, oh, I'm just gonna say it and it's gonna happen and it's done.
- 16:36SPEAKER_03: It takes work on our part.
- 16:38SPEAKER_03: As Christians, we have to do, we have to do our part.
- 16:41SPEAKER_03: It's not like, okay, I'm a Christian now, I can just go and do whatever I want still.
- 16:45SPEAKER_03: Sometimes people think Christianity is a get out of jail free card, and it's not.
- 16:49SPEAKER_03: It really is not a free ticket.
- 16:51SPEAKER_03: Um, there are some religions that kind of offer a free ticket, and we're not gonna get into that or debate that, but um for Christianity and for where Jesus Christ is concerned, it would be considered a mockery to even think that way that that Jesus went to the cross to give us just a free ticket.
- 17:09SPEAKER_03: It is a free ticket, but it's not the free ticket some people want to make it to be.
- 17:14SPEAKER_03: So we need to be careful.
- 17:16SPEAKER_03: So great, great scripture to bring up today.
- 17:18SPEAKER_03: What a great start.
- 17:19SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Yes, it um, I do believe that it is one of those that helps us continue to lay that foundation and so that we can build on solid ground.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: And you know, as we've said, are we thirsty for God's word?
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: Yes, we will get into the other benefits in that of being a Christian, but really right now laying the foundation.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: And I believe that is key, and so Psalm 101.7 certainly does help with that.
- 18:27SPEAKER_01: And so now let's look at John 8, verse 44.
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: And John 8 in general is when Jesus during his earthly ministry here, he's talking to the Jews that have believed in him, and that would be for another episode to get into that, but you see that in verse 31 that Jesus is talking with Jews that have believed, and so verse 44 is his continuation of this experience.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: And verse 44 is probably somewhat familiar to at least some of our listeners.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: Um verse forty-four Yeager of your father, the devil and the lustre of your father He was a murderer from the beginning and abode not in the truth because there is no truth in him.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own.
- 20:28SPEAKER_01: For he is a liar and the father of it.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: And I I do love how the Bible gives a red letter edition when it when it's Jesus speaking that to me that brings out um so much and so much importance and so we see from this verse how Satan He is the father of us and to me it seems so easy sometimes to give in to his attacks.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: Maybe not remembering that he he is the father of life.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: And so yes, Satan's attacks are unavoidable.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: There's no escaping them here on earth.
- 22:20SPEAKER_01: And yet I think it does help us to understand, to remember that whenever he does a tap, he never is telling the truth.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: It even mentions it in the verse that there's no truth in him.
- 22:54SPEAKER_01: And so we do, myself included, we do need to be careful.
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: Because as James 4 7 says, Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
- 23:25SPEAKER_01: We're supposed to resist the devil.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: And so make ye, do you have insights on John 8 44?
- 23:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think it's important that we remember that you know Jesus points out the spiritual origin of deception.
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 23:46SPEAKER_03: And um Satan identifies or is identified as the root source of all lies, which you've mentioned.
- 23:54SPEAKER_03: And um this passage basically is a warning to believers to make sure that you recognize the source of falsehood and ensure they align themselves with truth of God and um not the deception of the enemy.
- 24:09SPEAKER_03: I love that because we need to um identify who Satan is, who the lies are coming from, where they're coming from, what are the roots.
- 24:19SPEAKER_03: You know, when we look at a weed growing in our yard and it starts to take over your whole entire yard.
- 24:25SPEAKER_03: And I don't know if you've if you guys have have goat heads where you live, but they're the worst weed in the world, in the world, I think.
- 24:32SPEAKER_03: But if you ever stepped on one, they're worse than Legos.
- 24:36SPEAKER_03: So um, and we have them in our in our where we are at a lot.
- 24:41SPEAKER_03: And they're mean and they're vicious, and it's crazy because you'll pull them and you think you got the root, you think you got the weed, and the next year they grow back twice as many and twice as many and twice as many.
- 24:54SPEAKER_03: And it's interesting because the thorn is actually the seed of that weed.
- 25:00SPEAKER_03: So if you're not familiar with this weed that I'm talking about, it's a it looks like it's really pointy.
- 25:06SPEAKER_03: It's got like three sides and three three thorns on it.
- 25:10SPEAKER_03: And if you step on one of those, it's really bad.
- 25:12SPEAKER_03: It hurts really bad.
- 25:14SPEAKER_03: But what's interesting is that thorn, when you look at the plant, you would never guess that that thorn is actually the seed that reprodu reproduces and keeps bringing on more weeds.
- 25:27SPEAKER_03: That's how deceiving it is.
- 25:29SPEAKER_03: You think, what how do I kill this plant?
- 25:31SPEAKER_03: So you pull up the plant and the thorns fall off on the ground, and guess what?
- 25:35SPEAKER_03: It just reproduces more plants.
- 25:38SPEAKER_03: And and you really have to get it, like you almost have to burn the ground to get rid of them because they're so bad.
- 25:44SPEAKER_03: And um horrible, horrible weed.
- 25:47SPEAKER_03: They not only spread out like a vine in your grass and in your yard and everything, but they go deep.
- 25:53SPEAKER_03: They go deep, and when they go deep, they also spread out wide in the roots.
- 25:58SPEAKER_03: So when we think about Satan, I think about this type of a weed because Satan is this type of weed.
- 26:04SPEAKER_03: And if you don't know the plant and you don't have the information about the plant, which is what we're given today, information today, so that you can help identify what Satan is like.
- 26:14SPEAKER_03: If you don't identify what the plant is or where the root problem is coming from, you're gonna be the one who's deceived.
- 26:22SPEAKER_03: So for years, I remember I used to just pull these plants off and I'd be shaking them all around my yard, not realizing I'm I'm just sprinkling the seeds off the plant over the rest of my yard because I didn't realize that the thorn was actually what was going to reproduce more seed.
- 26:37SPEAKER_03: I didn't understand.
- 26:38SPEAKER_03: I did not know how to identify the root problem of that issue.
- 26:43SPEAKER_03: And Satan is exactly that way.
- 26:45SPEAKER_03: And that's why the scripture is so important that we need to understand how to identify the root of the source of the lies.
- 26:53SPEAKER_03: We need to get down deeper than just the surface.
- 26:56SPEAKER_03: Because he's been around a long time.
- 26:59SPEAKER_03: Satan's been around longer than we've been around.
- 27:01SPEAKER_03: Um, he he is he's basically inherited the earth and has been able to reign and do whatever he wants.
- 27:07SPEAKER_03: And if we are not diligent and we are not paying attention, we as believers, even as Christians, especially new and young Christians, it is so easy for us to have the wool pulled right over our eyes.
- 27:23SPEAKER_03: So we need to be really careful and we need to start paying attention and recognizing and learning.
- 27:31SPEAKER_03: That's what the if you learn the word of God, if you learn the truth that we're teaching you, um, these scriptures it will teach you how to recognize what the enemy actually does.
- 27:42SPEAKER_03: And that's what the scriptures is talking about.
- 27:45SPEAKER_03: Because it literally says there's absolutely no truth in him.
- 27:49SPEAKER_03: None.
- 27:49SPEAKER_03: There's no truth at all, not one word.
- 27:53SPEAKER_03: He speaks nothing but a lie.
- 27:56SPEAKER_03: So we don't want to be deceived by the enemy constantly.
- 28:01SPEAKER_03: That's why when we learn the word and we teach the word, we want to make sure that we are able to identify the root source of where the enemy is coming from, so that we can go, you know what?
- 28:12SPEAKER_03: That's a lie.
- 28:13SPEAKER_03: I recognize it.
- 28:14SPEAKER_03: That's a lie.
- 28:14SPEAKER_03: That is a complete lie of the enemy.
- 28:16SPEAKER_03: Um, that is complete falsehood.
- 28:18SPEAKER_03: Kind of like what David did.
- 28:19SPEAKER_03: David recognized there was falsehood in his own home and and within himself.
- 28:25SPEAKER_03: He recognized it.
- 28:26SPEAKER_03: Um, he took the integrity to do something about it.
- 28:29SPEAKER_03: And that's what we as Christians, especially beginning Christians, new Christians, um, as we're getting more thirsty for Jesus and we want to know who the Father is and what he's what he's done for us, we really want to know, or we need really need to be aware, I should say, that the enemy does not want us to have that relationship.
- 28:50SPEAKER_03: He doesn't want us to thirst after him.
- 28:52SPEAKER_03: He wants us to just be lost in the world, confused, and keep on going down the path that we've been going.
- 28:59SPEAKER_03: And so we really need to make sure that we're being careful um and that we're not we're not doing um um the work of the enemy.
- 29:09SPEAKER_03: Because we, if we are not paying attention, can actually do the work for him.
- 29:14SPEAKER_03: And nothing pleases the enemy more is when we actually do that as Christians, by the way.
- 29:20SPEAKER_03: That pleases the enemy, that that pleases the devil so much that when Christians are out there doing his work for him.
- 29:27SPEAKER_03: Think about that.
- 29:28SPEAKER_03: How horrible, you know, and and we don't realize how much that hurts Jesus.
- 29:33SPEAKER_03: We need to be very mindful, very careful, and remember that we need to take it back to the cross.
- 29:40SPEAKER_03: Jesus died on the cross for us, he died so that we could be free of that.
- 29:46SPEAKER_03: So we need to not participate in it and um allow the enemy to keep on deceiving us through the the root source of his lies.
- 29:57SPEAKER_03: We need to be paying attention.
- 29:58SPEAKER_03: It's very important that we're paying attention, especially right now, in the times we're living in right now.
- 30:04SPEAKER_03: We live in very dark, dark times.
- 30:06SPEAKER_03: Um, they can be very scary.
- 30:09SPEAKER_03: I'm not really afraid because I know my relationship with Jesus.
- 30:12SPEAKER_03: I I feel like I'm I have a solid foundation.
- 30:15SPEAKER_03: But if you're juggling with that and you have that fear, again, that's that's the enemy.
- 30:20SPEAKER_03: That's that's a lie from the enemy.
- 30:23SPEAKER_03: Um, so be careful.
- 30:25SPEAKER_03: My my advice on this scripture, um, be very, very careful.
- 30:30SPEAKER_03: And you know, it talks about the lust of your father.
- 30:33SPEAKER_03: Um, you got to be super mindful that you are thirsty for the for the right thing to drink.
- 30:40SPEAKER_03: You want to go to the well.
- 30:42SPEAKER_03: Now, the woman at the well, which we'll dive into that another day, but the woman at the well went to get water, but she got a whole different kind of water.
- 30:49SPEAKER_03: And that's the kind of thirst that we should be thirsting for.
- 30:52SPEAKER_03: And we'll get into that another day in another episode.
- 30:54SPEAKER_03: But if we think about the thirst, and and we're thinking about this episode and what the title is of this episode is what are we really thirsty for?
- 31:03SPEAKER_03: What are we craving?
- 31:06SPEAKER_03: The enemy is gonna make a lot of things in the world seem appetizing.
- 31:13SPEAKER_03: Isn't that crazy?
- 31:14SPEAKER_03: It's gonna, he's gonna be like, oh, you know, this is so appetizing.
- 31:17SPEAKER_03: You're gonna want to thirst for this.
- 31:19SPEAKER_03: We need to be very careful that we're thirsting for the right thing because the enemy is the great deceiver.
- 31:24SPEAKER_03: So just be mindful of that and be aware.
- 31:27SPEAKER_03: So great scripture, again, Bethany.
- 31:32SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes, it is so very true.
- 31:37SPEAKER_01: Um, need to be so careful and vigilant.
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: Um and so now we come to another scripture Psalm one twenty-seven verse one says Except the Lord build build the house.
- 32:17SPEAKER_01: They labor in vain that buildeth except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh, but in vain that is so very true.
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: We need to remember that it's the Lord that's building our Christian lives.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: It's not us.
- 33:02SPEAKER_01: Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: We can't lean on ourselves.
- 33:18SPEAKER_01: We shouldn't lean on ourselves.
- 33:23SPEAKER_01: Yes, you may be the most physically powerful person.
- 33:32SPEAKER_01: But spiritually we we need to remember that it's accept the Lord.
- 33:47SPEAKER_01: It's not about us.
- 33:50SPEAKER_01: It's not about our strength, it's not about oh I I can do this on my own.
- 33:59SPEAKER_01: No.
- 34:01SPEAKER_01: Um you are wise to always have the Lord's help.
- 34:09SPEAKER_01: Always be seeking his help.
- 34:16SPEAKER_01: The end of John fifteen verse five.
- 34:23SPEAKER_01: Once again it's another of Jesus' teachings.
- 34:28SPEAKER_01: John fifteen says, For without me, ye can do nothing.
- 34:39SPEAKER_01: That was Jesus talking.
- 34:57SPEAKER_01: It's that spiritually speaking, Jesus and God and the Holy Spirit, they are the only ones who are powerful enough to defeat Satan.
- 35:17SPEAKER_01: And we need to estimate.
- 35:22SPEAKER_01: We need to accept that.
- 35:27SPEAKER_01: We need to be thirsty for what God is teaching in his word.
- 35:43SPEAKER_01: Yes, the Bible is full, but it's full of instruction, beneficial instruction.
- 35:55SPEAKER_01: It's full of wonderful blessings.
- 36:08SPEAKER_01: That we can use to help us prepare us, strengthen us, and so remember, it's the Lord, and so Mickey, do you have thoughts on this verse?
- 36:34SPEAKER_03: This scripture makes me think of Matthew 7.
- 36:36SPEAKER_03: Um, and also it's written in red, but it's where Jesus is talking about not building your house on sand.
- 36:45SPEAKER_03: On sinking sand.
- 36:46SPEAKER_03: We don't want to build our house on sinking sand, but on the solid, on the foundation that God lays before us.
- 36:52SPEAKER_03: And what that means is to be mindful.
- 36:54SPEAKER_03: I mean, we're not going to go build our house in the middle of an ocean.
- 36:56SPEAKER_03: Some people do because they think that's where to be, but as soon as soon as the winds come and and the water rises, your your house is gone, you know.
- 37:06SPEAKER_03: And so we need to be wise about where we're building our house and how we're building our house.
- 37:12SPEAKER_03: Because you know, the you know, it says in Matthew 7, um not to do that.
- 37:18SPEAKER_03: I'm trying to look at the exact scripture.
- 37:20SPEAKER_03: Um, I believe it is 725.
- 37:23SPEAKER_03: I believe I'm looking here.
- 37:25SPEAKER_03: Says uh 24, therefore, whoever whosoever heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them, I will liken to him unto a wise man which built his house up house upon the rock.
- 37:36SPEAKER_03: And the rains descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon the house, and it fell not, for it was founded upon a rock.
- 37:45SPEAKER_03: Again, and everyone that heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them not shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand.
- 37:55SPEAKER_03: So basically, you know, Jesus is speaking, and he's saying, You are a fool if you don't build your your foundation on the rock.
- 38:03SPEAKER_03: And the rock is Jesus.
- 38:05SPEAKER_03: Jesus is given this, this is another illustration Jesus gives for who he is.
- 38:10SPEAKER_03: And so we need to be really mindful.
- 38:11SPEAKER_03: And this scripture makes me think of that when it says, Except the Lord build the house.
- 38:16SPEAKER_03: We need to trust that the Lord is going to build our home.
- 38:19SPEAKER_03: And he is that foundation.
- 38:21SPEAKER_03: It starts with our foundation, and Jesus is that foundation.
- 38:26SPEAKER_03: So for it, I don't know, just as I was reading it, I was looking up the scripture, I was like, where's that scripture?
- 38:30SPEAKER_03: But I finally found it.
- 38:31SPEAKER_03: Um, I was like, I know it's in here.
- 38:33SPEAKER_03: So, but um, yeah, Matthew 7, 24 through 27 talks about building your house on on the solid rock and not on sinking sand.
- 38:41SPEAKER_03: And we need to be mindful again, because again, the enemy, again, lurking around is going to be like, oh, but it's the ocean.
- 38:49SPEAKER_03: It's so beautiful, and you could just see the the wells and the dolphins and all of the beautiful things.
- 38:54SPEAKER_03: And yes, the ocean is very beautiful.
- 38:55SPEAKER_03: I love the ocean.
- 38:57SPEAKER_03: Um coming from California and and and you know, just being on the beach, I love the ocean.
- 39:02SPEAKER_03: I've always wanted, you know, ocean front property, as they as George Strait used to call it in the song, I think.
- 39:08SPEAKER_03: Um, no copyrights to that comment, by the way.
- 39:11SPEAKER_03: But anyhow, yeah, it's not, and and even things about how it's not all cracked up to be what it's all cracked up to be.
- 39:17SPEAKER_03: And that's coming from a country guy.
- 39:19SPEAKER_03: So he learned a lesson.
- 39:21SPEAKER_03: Don't build your house on the sand.
- 39:24SPEAKER_03: Build it on the foundation of God.
- 39:26SPEAKER_03: Make sure you're careful and you're building it according to the word of God.
- 39:31SPEAKER_03: Build your life.
- 39:32SPEAKER_03: Your life is your foundation, your life is your home.
- 39:35SPEAKER_03: Like David when he was in in Psalms 101.
- 39:39SPEAKER_03: Um, he was building his home, which was his home within him, not just his physical house.
- 39:45SPEAKER_03: It's not just a physical place, it's a spiritual place.
- 39:49SPEAKER_03: So, yes, even though we need to be wise about where we're building things up in our lives, we need to know that we need to have our spiritual focus be the foundation for everything that we do.
- 39:59SPEAKER_03: I guarantee if you do that, you're gonna have a much stronger walk with the Lord.
- 40:05SPEAKER_03: A much stronger walk because the enemy can't touch you at that point.
- 40:09SPEAKER_03: If you get up and start your day with Jesus every day and you take Jesus everywhere you go, he can't touch you.
- 40:14SPEAKER_03: Because wherever Jesus is, the enemy has to flee, by the way.
- 40:17SPEAKER_03: Anytime you speak Jesus' name, the enemy has to flee.
- 40:20SPEAKER_03: So keep that in mind.
- 40:22SPEAKER_03: So another great scripture, um, Bethany.
- 40:24SPEAKER_03: That's really good.
- 40:28SPEAKER_01: So now as we come to the last three scriptures for today for this episode, really tying everything together that we've talked about so far in this episode.
- 40:56SPEAKER_01: But First Corinthians chapter six, verses nineteen and twenty.
- 41:07SPEAKER_01: And First Corinthians six has some beneficial instructions and some things that we can cling to in those times when it feels like everything's going wrong or whatever.
- 41:41SPEAKER_01: We can cling to these and stand on them.
- 41:49SPEAKER_01: And so first Corinthians six verse nineteen what know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own.
- 42:15SPEAKER_01: Verse 20 For ye are bought with a price, therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's so powerful those two verses, so much to consider, to truly take time to think about them to understand Christians who we are and who we belong to.
- 43:10SPEAKER_01: We don't if you're a Christian you don't belong to Satan.
- 43:18SPEAKER_01: So what why would we and this is not uh judgment or anything on anyone?
- 43:31SPEAKER_01: It's just uh casual observation but Christians why would we knowingly why would we willingly give in to a liar, the father of lies?
- 43:57SPEAKER_01: Why would we do that?
- 44:02SPEAKER_01: I mean, yes, yes, Satan's attacks can be subtle and deceiving and all that, but do we truly understand Satan only tells lies?
- 44:28SPEAKER_01: He never, ever, ever tells the truth.
- 44:39SPEAKER_01: Yes, he may make things look up healing and all that.
- 44:46SPEAKER_01: Like he did in the Garden of Eden.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: And yet even then, why didn't Satan go for Adam?
- 45:08SPEAKER_01: I truly believe, and this is my personal opinion, but I truly believe that why Satan did not go for Adam was because Adam had that conversation with God in Genesis 2, when God told him which trees he could eat of.
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: Whether or not Adam told Eve about that, we don't know.
- 45:51SPEAKER_01: But I truly believe the reason why Satan did not go for Adam and did not try to get Adam to the question was because Adam knew what God had said.
- 46:15SPEAKER_01: He had had a face-to-face conversation and so getting back to his verses.
- 46:32SPEAKER_01: Our bodies, Christians, if you're a Christian, our body is the temple of the Holy Ghost.
- 46:42SPEAKER_01: And that's not just me saying First Corinthians six nineteen and twenty.
- 46:52SPEAKER_01: Say that.
- 46:55SPEAKER_01: The Bible is true.
- 46:57SPEAKER_01: From cover to cover, from Genesis 1 all the way through.
- 47:03SPEAKER_01: It's the truth.
- 47:08SPEAKER_01: But why are we the temple of the Holy Ghost?
- 47:14SPEAKER_01: Verse 20 tells us, for we were bought with a price.
- 47:18SPEAKER_01: And that price was Jesus dying on the cross for our sins.
- 47:28SPEAKER_01: And not just for us, or less many who are watching, or not just for Mickey and myself, but for everyone.
- 47:39SPEAKER_01: There's no one that Jesus did not die for.
- 47:45SPEAKER_01: Past, present, or future.
- 47:50SPEAKER_01: And so that why we are the temple of the Holy Ghost.
- 47:56SPEAKER_01: We were bought with a price.
- 47:59SPEAKER_01: The most precious price ever.
- 48:03SPEAKER_01: And so again, as we are building these foundations of who we are as Christians.
- 48:21SPEAKER_01: And so, Mickey, what are your insights on these?
- 48:29SPEAKER_03: Well, I think as far as like um today's lesson and and diving into being more thirsty and connecting the dots from the first two episodes to today, um thirsting after Jesus alone is uh in itself is so powerful.
- 48:45SPEAKER_03: But um again, as as I said earlier um in the in this episode, having that um recognition um and being diligent to what the enemy is up to.
- 49:00SPEAKER_03: Um, we need to understand the enemy is not our friend, he's not on our side, he doesn't care one bit about us.
- 49:07SPEAKER_03: He doesn't care at all.
- 49:08SPEAKER_03: Jesus cares about us, Jesus cares where we spend the rest of eternity.
- 49:13SPEAKER_03: And yet we give so much freedom to the enemy.
- 49:19SPEAKER_03: He don't care at all about us.
- 49:21SPEAKER_03: He literally, like you said, and like I've said already multiple times, and we'll probably say it multiple more times, is the author of all lies.
- 49:32SPEAKER_03: And there is nothing truthful.
- 49:35SPEAKER_03: Only harm comes from the enemy.
- 49:38SPEAKER_03: Only harm.
- 49:40SPEAKER_03: And we may look at it like I've heard people say, oh, it's just a little white lie.
- 49:45SPEAKER_03: It's not gonna hurt anything.
- 49:47SPEAKER_03: That's where it begins.
- 49:49SPEAKER_03: That's where the enemy gets you fooled and thinking that, well, if they could start a little white lie, let's work on getting them into a bigger lie and a bigger lie and a bigger lie until we're in a world of trouble.
- 49:59SPEAKER_03: And our world is in trouble.
- 50:01SPEAKER_03: We are in trouble.
- 50:02SPEAKER_03: Look at the adversity that we are up against with people.
- 50:05SPEAKER_03: Um people bel people thinking and believing that God is not even existent.
- 50:11SPEAKER_03: There would be no such thing as good and evil if God did not exist.
- 50:14SPEAKER_03: We wouldn't have a need for it.
- 50:16SPEAKER_03: I mean, that in itself explains it.
- 50:18SPEAKER_03: But I mean, that's that's the simplicity of it.
- 50:21SPEAKER_03: Um, but people really think that there's no God.
- 50:27SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 50:28SPEAKER_03: Um, I mean, it that would just be asinine if you ask me, but we need to be mindful, and and I like this scripture.
- 50:36SPEAKER_03: I like what it talks about being the watchman.
- 50:39SPEAKER_03: Um, because as we are supposed to be on the lookout, you know what a shepherd does when he watches his sheep, he's on the lookout for what?
- 50:50SPEAKER_03: The wolf.
- 50:51SPEAKER_03: He's on the lookout for the dangers on on the weather, um, what's ahead, the terrain, all of it.
- 50:58SPEAKER_03: He is watching out for his sheep and his flock.
- 51:01SPEAKER_03: And Jesus is our watchman, he watches out for us.
- 51:04SPEAKER_03: But as Christians, we also have to watch out for each other, and we also have to watch out for the enemy.
- 51:12SPEAKER_03: Because the enemy is lurking around.
- 51:14SPEAKER_03: He's around every corner, not just one, not just the furthest, not just, you know, and like it says, we need to be careful of um the wolves that are dressed in sheep's clothing.
- 51:27SPEAKER_03: We need to be careful.
- 51:28SPEAKER_03: Because sometimes our closest, sometimes our closest friends can be even our worst enemies.
- 51:33SPEAKER_03: At times we've got to be really careful if we're not walking with the Lord.
- 51:37SPEAKER_03: God will give you the discernment.
- 51:39SPEAKER_03: Um, I have many friends in my life.
- 51:42SPEAKER_03: Um, I've I have many more acquaintances, but I have very little people that I call my friends.
- 51:50SPEAKER_03: Um, not that I don't care or love them, I do.
- 51:53SPEAKER_03: I love them all, but I know who um the people that are the most truthful in my life are the people that I want the closest to me.
- 52:02SPEAKER_03: Sometimes, sometimes, sometimes you want your enemy even closer.
- 52:06SPEAKER_03: It actually says to keep your enemy closer, which is crazy.
- 52:09SPEAKER_03: Oh, excuse me.
- 52:11SPEAKER_03: But um, having that in mind, we need to be mindful that the enemy wants to deceive us.
- 52:16SPEAKER_03: But if you have the Holy Ghost within you, um, and you have God, you're not walking this alone.
- 52:25SPEAKER_03: You're not out in the wilderness all by yourself.
- 52:27SPEAKER_03: And sometimes we think of being in the wilderness alone.
- 52:30SPEAKER_03: Sometimes we when we think that God isn't with us, it's when he really is, he's with us more than we even know.
- 52:38SPEAKER_03: He's just going gone ahead of us to lay that foundation.
- 52:42SPEAKER_03: And we think because he's not present right here, right now, that he's missing, he's MIA in action.
- 52:47SPEAKER_03: You know, where did God go?
- 52:49SPEAKER_03: Where is God, right?
- 52:50SPEAKER_03: Where is God when I need him?
- 52:52SPEAKER_03: How many times have we said that in our life?
- 52:53SPEAKER_03: Where is he?
- 52:54SPEAKER_03: What happened to God?
- 52:55SPEAKER_03: Did he forget about me?
- 52:56SPEAKER_03: What about me?
- 52:57SPEAKER_03: You know, kind of thing.
- 52:58SPEAKER_03: God doesn't do that, he doesn't leave us.
- 53:01SPEAKER_03: It says he will never leave us, nor will he forsake us in the word.
- 53:05SPEAKER_03: Um, so we need to keep that in our mind.
- 53:09SPEAKER_03: And if we take the word of God and we start devouring it, and we have a thirst for it, and we start devouring it and devouring it and devouring it, our appetites are gonna change for nothing but the word of God.
- 53:22SPEAKER_03: And that is our desire.
- 53:24SPEAKER_03: That's my desire, that's Bethany's desire, is that we literally start devouring the word of God so much that that's the only thing that we want to have.
- 53:34SPEAKER_03: That's the only thing we thirst for.
- 53:36SPEAKER_03: And God's gonna do the rest, he's gonna provide the rest.
- 53:40SPEAKER_03: His promises are for everyone.
- 53:44SPEAKER_03: He is not a respecter of persons.
- 53:47SPEAKER_03: And I cannot emphasize this enough.
- 53:49SPEAKER_03: I've said it about a thousand times, probably, but people always say, Well, why does God bless that person and not bless me?
- 53:57SPEAKER_03: Are you walking with the Lord?
- 53:59SPEAKER_03: Are you thirsting for the Lord?
- 54:01SPEAKER_03: Are you reading the word?
- 54:02SPEAKER_03: Are you are you in prayer?
- 54:05SPEAKER_03: Are you are you in in fellowship with with God's people?
- 54:09SPEAKER_03: What are you doing?
- 54:10SPEAKER_03: We want the promises, but are we walking in the obedience that it requires for us to have them?
- 54:15SPEAKER_03: God knows that if he were to give us all of his promises, we wouldn't know what to do with them.
- 54:20SPEAKER_03: That's how abundant they are.
- 54:22SPEAKER_03: It would overwhelm us so greatly we wouldn't even know what to do with them.
- 54:25SPEAKER_03: He's not just gonna give them all out, but he wants us to have all of them.
- 54:32SPEAKER_03: So we have to do our part.
- 54:34SPEAKER_03: As Christians, we have to do our part.
- 54:36SPEAKER_03: You know, we have to walk that walk.
- 54:38SPEAKER_03: And the best way to do that is to get into the word, to seek and search for the truth.
- 54:44SPEAKER_03: A lot of times people won't look for the truth, they just accept whatever is is.
- 54:49SPEAKER_03: Be very careful doing that.
- 54:51SPEAKER_03: Do not do that.
- 54:52SPEAKER_03: I I encourage you to not do that, seek out the truth.
- 54:56SPEAKER_03: I mean, Bethany is like shaking her hand, she's like, no, don't do it, don't do it, don't do it.
- 55:02SPEAKER_03: It's like you don't want to, you know, you don't want to get to it too close to the to the edge of the cliff because you you might just fall in.
- 55:08SPEAKER_03: So you got to be really careful.
- 55:10SPEAKER_03: It says to be mindful, we need to be mindful.
- 55:15SPEAKER_03: God did not, God gave us uh an amazing ability to think for ourselves, believe it or not.
- 55:23SPEAKER_03: And he made us very intelligent, made us very smart, and he wants us to use what he gave us.
- 55:30SPEAKER_03: So we need to be mindful and think about that.
- 55:32SPEAKER_03: So, with today's lesson, what a great lesson, we learned a lot.
- 55:36SPEAKER_03: And we want to continue on with this um series because there's a lot to we don't want to necessarily um overpour so that anything gets wasted, if that makes sense.
- 55:50SPEAKER_03: So we really want to kind of narrow in on some of these scriptures and talk about them and and dissect them, if you will, so that we have a clear understanding as to what God's really wanting us to do.
- 56:02SPEAKER_03: And with truth be told, we really want it to be um all for God's glory.
- 56:08SPEAKER_03: It's not for my glory, it's not for Bethany's glory.
- 56:11SPEAKER_03: Um, we're not trying to walk that kind of a walk.
- 56:14SPEAKER_03: That's not our that's not our heart's desire.
- 56:17SPEAKER_03: Our heart's desire is to be obedient and to share God's love and his word with you guys because um Bethany and I know what what it's like to have Jesus, and we know what it's like to have the truth, and we know what it, you know, we know some of the things that we're gonna be up against and that we have to face.
- 56:33SPEAKER_03: But we also know that when we do come up against these um trials and tribulations, that God is right there and we don't even have to worry.
- 56:42SPEAKER_03: It says worry for nothing.
- 56:45SPEAKER_03: We are not to worry about anything, for the day will worry about itself.
- 56:51SPEAKER_03: You know, the day could worry about its own self.
- 56:52SPEAKER_03: We don't even have to worry about the day, it can take care of itself because God's in it.
- 56:56SPEAKER_03: That's why God created the day, God created everything.
- 57:00SPEAKER_03: So it's funny when I think about that, like when I think about when I start to worry about stuff and I start to contemplate what's happening in my life, and I'm focusing more on the worrying instead of focusing on more of the source, which is God.
- 57:15SPEAKER_03: Guess what wins sometimes?
- 57:17SPEAKER_03: The worry wins.
- 57:19SPEAKER_03: God is supposed to win.
- 57:21SPEAKER_03: And then and when the worry wins, guess what?
- 57:23SPEAKER_03: Guess what happens with the enemy?
- 57:24SPEAKER_03: The enemy is over there applauding us, he's applauding it.
- 57:27SPEAKER_03: He's like, Yay! They took their focus off God and they're worrying about this, this little trivial thing that doesn't, it's not gonna go, nothing's gonna come of it or whatever.
- 57:37SPEAKER_03: And they're gonna spend all of their time worrying about it and not focusing on who God is.
- 57:42SPEAKER_03: And the enemy thrives on that kind of behavior.
- 57:45SPEAKER_03: So we gotta be really be we gotta be mindful.
- 57:47SPEAKER_03: And we also need to be watchmen, just as Jesus is our watchman.
- 57:51SPEAKER_03: He's our redeemer, he is our redeeming father.
- 57:56SPEAKER_03: And I believe it's I want to say it's Elijah that he's he talks a lot about being the watchman, I mean the redeemer.
- 58:04SPEAKER_03: Anyway, I my my my my narratives today are off base a little bit, but he is our redeeming, our our redeemer, and he is our watchman.
- 58:14SPEAKER_03: We need to be mindful of that.
- 58:16SPEAKER_03: And if we are not sure where we are at, we need to go to the one who does know.
- 58:22SPEAKER_03: Jesus is the one who knows.
- 58:23SPEAKER_03: He has all the answers.
- 58:25SPEAKER_03: The word has the answers.
- 58:27SPEAKER_03: Just have to take the time to get into it and divulge yourself into it because the more you do, the more you understand, the more God's going to reveal Himself, especially through the Holy Spirit.
- 58:40SPEAKER_03: When you have the Holy Spirit within you, he's going to reveal it.
- 58:43SPEAKER_03: He will bring confirmation.
- 58:46SPEAKER_03: So keep an eye out for it.
- 58:48SPEAKER_03: Look for it.
- 58:48SPEAKER_03: Ask for it.
- 58:49SPEAKER_03: Don't be afraid to ask for confirmation.
- 58:52SPEAKER_03: Ask God confirm it.
- 58:53SPEAKER_03: Like, Lord, confirm this.
- 58:54SPEAKER_03: What do you, what do you is it is this correct or not correct?
- 58:58SPEAKER_03: He's going to give you the discernment that you're going to need.
- 59:01SPEAKER_03: He's going to say, no, don't go that way, go this way.
- 59:03SPEAKER_03: Even if you don't understand it.
- 59:05SPEAKER_03: He may detour you.
- 59:07SPEAKER_03: When you start walking with the Lord, you're going to end up taking different detours than you might have thought ever before.
- 59:12SPEAKER_03: So what a great lesson today.
- 59:14SPEAKER_03: Um, Bethany, was that your last scripture?
- 59:18SPEAKER_03: Okay, I thought it was.
- 59:21SPEAKER_03: Oh, you have one more?
- 59:22SPEAKER_01: One more.
- 59:23SPEAKER_03: Okay, I thought you did.
- 59:24SPEAKER_03: I was gonna say I was I thought I thought for some reason I thought you said it was the last one, but then I thought I thought you had one more.
- 59:29SPEAKER_03: So let's let's dive into that scripture.
- 59:32SPEAKER_01: So the last scripture for today's episode.
- 59:37SPEAKER_01: Um 2 Corinthians 2 verse 11.
- 59:48SPEAKER_01: Lest Satan should get an advantage of us for we are not ignorant of his devices.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_01: And one reason I wanted to end with that is to encourage us, especially who are Christians, that we're not a nerd, we're not in the dark about how Satan works.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_01: Remember, he's been using the same tactics since Genesis three, and yet he's still using them.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_01: And so we we need to be careful as we've said in this episode that we're not uh we're being wise with what we know.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_01: And so that would be my closing.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_01: Do we understand?
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_01: Or are we just going about, you know, from one attack to another attack to another attack, and we're not discerning how Satan is working, and no, that's not to say that he works the same with everyone.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_01: I think I think he does work differently with each one of us.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_01: And so we need to be wise and not ignore how he's working, but be able to remember experiences and be mindful.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_01: And so when when he attacks that way again, we can say, Oh, that's not God.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_01: That's Satan is attacking me.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_01: I'm rejecting it, I'm resisting it, and when we resist Satan's attacks, he has to flee.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_01: So that's my opposing encouragement.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_03: I think when we're talking about this scripture, when we're talking about Paul um writing this in regarding to unforgiveness, um, he he really urges the church to repent.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_03: Um, so the enemy cannot use division or or get a foothold within the church or within within each other.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_03: Um again, the enemy, the enemy is wicked and he's very conniving, and he's very good at what he does.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_03: He's trained.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_03: He's been around a long time, longer than you or I or anybody else that's even on this earth today.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_03: He's been around longer than any of us.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_03: He's had much, much practice at what he's doing.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_03: Um, and sometimes that used to frighten me, honestly.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_03: I don't know about you, Bethany, but I used to be kind of terrified knowing that he has been around since Genesis.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_03: He's been given reign over the earth.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_03: How do we battle that?
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_03: How do we battle that?
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_03: And it says we do not battle against flesh and blood, but against principalities.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_03: We battle against the spiritual realm, the supernatural realm.
- 1:04:31SPEAKER_03: Although sometimes when we think about it, it can look like a physical realm.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_03: Going back to the scripture we started with earlier, talking about David and getting his house in order, he's talking about a spiritual realm.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_03: That's a spiritual realm.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_03: Yes, we can look at it in a physical realm to use it, you know, to example it and try to um um paint the picture, if you will.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_03: But this is a spiritual realm that we're living in that we are um trying to battle against.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_03: And so we need to be armored up.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_03: And we will we will get into the armor um as we go on, because it's very important that we get armored up.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_03: And remembering repentance is huge, it's it's a huge factor in forgiving people that that wrong you or things that you've done wrong.
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_03: Um because the enemy uses unforgiveness as a weapon against you.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_03: So if you don't know this, the enemy will it it will tear you to pieces, unforgiveness will, if you allow the enemy to use it against you.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_03: It is a horrible weapon that he uses.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_03: And we don't want the enemy to have that foothold over us.
- 1:05:45SPEAKER_03: So if we repent and we give it to God, it's no longer there.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_03: God looks at our sin and the things that we you know need forgiveness for.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_03: He looks at it for a moment.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_03: We look at it for sometimes a lifetime or something.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_03: And we'll we'll harbor something our whole entire lives.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_03: He doesn't want us to do that.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_03: He looks at it in it literally for the moment.
- 1:06:07SPEAKER_03: And as soon as we ask him to forgive us, it's no longer even there to him.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_03: When we bring it back up, he's like, What are you talking about?
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_03: I already forgave you for that.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_03: Why do I got to keep forgiving you?
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_03: And what that does is when we're doing that to God, we're not really trusting who God is.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_03: We're not saying we trust in who he believes.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_03: If he says he forgives us, he forgives us.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_03: Sometimes we'll repent for something five times.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_03: God's like, why keep asking me?
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_03: I already did it.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_03: What's up with you?
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_03: You know, get on with it.
- 1:06:37SPEAKER_03: It's seriously, he's that simple.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_03: We're the ones who allow the enemy.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_03: The enemy comes in and says, Do you think God really forgave you for that?
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_03: Do you think God really could forgive you for that?
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_03: The enemy is very wicked like that.
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_03: He uses unforgiveness as a tool.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_03: So don't let it get a foothold on you.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_03: Just repent.
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_03: Repent, let it go.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_03: Repent, let it go.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_03: And that's a hard thing to do.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_03: Even if you make the mistake 20 times, just repent, ask God to help you, and let it go.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_03: Like you, I sometimes it's the reason we repent again in the same sin is because we didn't let it go the first time.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_03: Or the fifth time or the hundredth time.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_03: We harbored the unforgiveness and that believing that God really forgave us the first time around.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_03: That's why a lot of people have repetitious sin, by the way, which is another topic that we will get into.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_03: Because you harbor it and you don't have enough faith in God that He actually forgave you for it.
- 1:07:33SPEAKER_03: And it allows you to do it again.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_03: It takes you to a place where you end up doing it again.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_03: So you got to be mindful of those things.
- 1:07:40SPEAKER_03: And he's still gonna love you, even if you do do it again.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_03: He loves you still.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_03: I mean, you know, he wants us to wise up a little bit, though, y'all.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_03: Like when we when we get done nursing and we're we we're no longer infants and we're going through the toddler phase and to the school and then adult phase, we're supposed to get wiser as we get older.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_03: That's called you know spiritual growth.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_03: We want that.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_03: But as Christians being new, um and and we're still in that the nursing phase of Christianity, just know that God wants us to grow and and develop and get closer to Him.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_03: And the closer you do get to Him and the more you read His Word, the more He's gonna help you through all of that.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_03: Some people say, Oh, you know, you act like it's a walk in the park.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_03: It's not.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_03: I am not going to lie, it is not a walk in the park.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_03: But neither is the wicked world that we're living in either.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_03: People say, Why would I want Christianity if it if it's not a walk in the park?
- 1:08:36SPEAKER_03: Neither is the world we're living in.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_03: You guys gotta realize the world we live in is a pretty bad place right now.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_03: We're in a very bad situation right now in this world.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_03: There's a lot of hate, there's a lot of animosity, there's a lot of self self-indulgence.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_03: Self-indulgence is so big right now.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_03: Self-identity is like humongous.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_03: It's literally wiping out our world.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_03: We are indulging in so much selfishness that the enemy is throwing a great big party right now.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_03: We gotta be careful.
- 1:09:09SPEAKER_03: So great scripture today, Bethany.
- 1:09:11SPEAKER_03: Thank you for bringing all of that to the table.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_03: And um, for anyone listening today, I just want you to understand that as we do these um episodes and we bring scripture to the table, we just want to encourage you to not just listen to what we say.
- 1:09:27SPEAKER_03: Don't take our word, you know, at face value or whatever.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_03: Go to the scripture, check it out, read it for yourself, pray about it, ask God to reveal.
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_03: We want to make sure that what we say is lining up with the word of God and not what we think.
- 1:09:43SPEAKER_03: Like my opinion doesn't matter.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_03: You know, I may give you information or share my thoughts on a scripture, but my opinion doesn't matter.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_03: Look it up for yourself, get into the word, read the word for yourself.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_03: God may re may reveal something to you that Bethany and I are not able to reveal because we are not you.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_03: God knows you the way the way that we don't know you.
- 1:10:05SPEAKER_03: So God's going to be the one to bring that to the table.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_03: So don't be don't be afraid of that.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_03: Dive into it, seek him out, get thirsty.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_03: We want y'all to be thirsty.
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_03: Um, especially when it comes to the word of God, and especially when it comes to the truth.
- 1:10:20SPEAKER_03: There's so much deception, there's so many lies in the world right now.
- 1:10:25SPEAKER_03: Not too many people are even searching for the truth.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_03: They're just they're just taking everything at face value.
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_03: Don't do that.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_03: Be careful, be very careful, okay?
- 1:10:35SPEAKER_03: So that's my encouragement for today.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_03: And again, Bethany, I want to say thank you for bringing all of that uh information to the table.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_03: So why don't we go ahead and close out with prayer and um and then we'll talk about what we're gonna do in our next episode.
- 1:10:49SPEAKER_03: Sound good?
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_03: Okay, Heavenly Father, God, Lord, we thank you again for another great episode.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_03: God, we thank you for your word.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_03: We we thank you for your for your word start to finish, God, from the beginning to the very end, Lord.
- 1:11:01SPEAKER_03: We know that you know what you're doing, whether we know or not or understand.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_03: Lord, give us the wisdom and and the and the knowledge to understand what it is that you are doing.
- 1:11:10SPEAKER_03: And Lord, we know that the enemy is the author of confusion, not you.
- 1:11:14SPEAKER_03: Lord, help us not to be confused about anything that was brought out today, all the scripture that was shared.
- 1:11:18SPEAKER_03: Lord, help everyone to be able to receive it, accept it, understand it clearly, Lord.
- 1:11:23SPEAKER_03: Bring the clarity to the table so that we don't have to have any doubts in our mind who you are and what you do.
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_03: Lord, we thank you so much for your word.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_03: We thank you for nourishing us and feeding us and and and uh and encouraging us and lifting us up, God.
- 1:11:37SPEAKER_03: We just ask that you just watch over each and every one of us that's watching this episode today, everyone that's listening within the sound of my voice.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_03: Lord, I just ask that you just bring peace.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_03: Um, you bring tranquility, you bring clarity to our minds and our hearts and our souls, Lord.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_03: Lord, help us to want to be thirsty, help us to have a desire to want more and more and more of you, Lord.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_03: Lord, we thank you for all the blessings you pour out upon us.
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_03: Lord, we just ask that you watch over our government, watch over our our our country, um, and watch over our family and our loved ones, Lord.
- 1:12:09SPEAKER_03: We just thank you so much for blessing us.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_03: And we um say this in Jesus' name, amen.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_03: So, going to the next episode, we are going to continue with where we're at because this is this is there's a lot, guys.
- 1:12:21SPEAKER_03: There's a lot to being thirsty.
- 1:12:23SPEAKER_03: And until we feel like the quenching is has happened or whatever, we're just gonna keep on pouring it out.
- 1:12:32SPEAKER_03: And we decided to slow down a little bit and not to overpour because, like I said, we want to make sure that we're not pouring out so fast that it's um we don't want to waste God's war.
- 1:12:42SPEAKER_03: We want to we want to get all of it and bring it all in.
- 1:12:44SPEAKER_03: So I just I do thank you, Bethany, again for being here and being my host.
