- 0:00Speaker 1: I've made a big deal a little while ago about
- 0:02graduating from college. I don't think you'd never really know
- 0:07that by the way that was written.
- 0:13Speaker 2: I've been asked if I will go ever, go back
- 0:17and finish college.
- 0:20Speaker 1: I just it because people say, how close were you
- 0:23to finishing.
- 0:24Speaker 3: I had a year.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Because my sisters are all all of them are not
- 0:33just regular college but.
- 0:35Speaker 1: More college graduate students.
- 0:37Speaker 2: My one sister's got her doctorate masters.
- 0:41Speaker 4: And they lorded over that. You don't don't at all.
- 0:45Speaker 2: But I I don't know if it's because I'm the
- 0:48oldest or what, but I I feel I feel inferior
- 0:53to them in their in their educational pursuit.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Well, it's because you are, I mean, on the face
- 1:00of it, just I.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Don't.
- 1:04Speaker 4: I don't like bugs you.
- 1:06Speaker 2: It bugs me. But does it bug me enough to
- 1:08go back?
- 1:09Speaker 4: God?
- 1:09Speaker 1: No, God no, I foolishly thought one time. See, I
- 1:14went to graduate school. Here's the truth of it, did
- 1:17all the work all three years. I was supposed to
- 1:19write a thesis. At the end of the three years.
- 1:22I write the thesis and I put it in a
- 1:25briefcase and put it under the bed and never send
- 1:27it in. So I don't technically have a master.
- 1:30Speaker 2: But you have an undergrad degree.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Yeah, and I have and I and I have all
- 1:34of the work. What do they call it?
- 1:36Speaker 1: There's a plight way to put an equivalency the equivalent
- 1:40of a master's degree, which means I didn't I didn't
- 1:44complete the work, but I went all three years, wrote
- 1:47the thesis.
- 1:48Speaker 4: Well.
- 1:48Speaker 2: And I'm someone who liked school, like, Yeah, I was
- 1:53good at it. Like I wasn't trying to not go
- 1:56to school.
- 1:57Speaker 3: I liked school.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I liked school, graduate school pretty hard.
- 2:01Speaker 4: I was.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I was kicked from pillar to post for three years.
- 2:06You're never good enough, especially when you're in a you're
- 2:09getting a degree in a performance art. You're never good enough,
- 2:14you know. And uh so it's kind of demoralizing. But
- 2:18I got over it. But I never wanted to go
- 2:20to school again.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Like, but as much as I like I, it's been
- 2:26a long time. I don't think I'm going to do.
- 2:30Speaker 3: I would have maybe enjoyed school.
- 2:33Speaker 4: I don't know you you went to college very briefly.
- 2:37Speaker 3: I took some writing classes at the community college. It's
- 2:41hardly counts.
- 2:43Speaker 2: You knew what you wanted to do, right, Like Bill
- 2:47and I had to work our way to this. You knew,
- 2:50so it made sense that you just pursued that right away.
- 2:53Speaker 3: I went to the School of Broadcasts.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Wasn't Columbia. Wasn't it was the American was.
- 3:00Speaker 2: The Ogden School?
- 3:01Speaker 4: Was the Utah School? Utah?
- 3:02Speaker 1: Didn't?
- 3:03Speaker 2: It wasn't it called the Ogden School.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Of bro I've got the documents around.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Utah School of Broadcasting.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Yeah, it was locally owned and run and yeah, you know, uh,
- 3:14and it.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Was, so I wouldn't say you should have you know,
- 3:17you you had a path.
- 3:19Speaker 3: You did it, and I didn't finish. Well, I did finish.
- 3:23I didn't finish because I got a job before it
- 3:26was over. I got a job in radio. So I
- 3:29went to them and said, why do I need you?
- 3:31Speaker 4: I have a job in radio.
- 3:33Speaker 3: I said, well, you have to complete the course, and
- 3:35I said, I don't really do.
- 3:37Speaker 4: But we want your money.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Yeah, you already have it, you know.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Uh, you know, Gina, you might look into I'll bet
- 3:44there's a way you could complete most of the course
- 3:47work you need to do at home.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Oh probably, Yeah, lots of classes are available. But to
- 3:56what end? Just to say I did it?
- 3:58Speaker 1: I yeah, Well, I mean sure, I think you should
- 4:03do it. And then I think you should get it,
- 4:06have a big party and get your diplomas and go
- 4:08get up, go to your sister's and say, see.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Hang it up right in the entryway of your house.
- 4:15Speaker 2: But see, even if I went and finished, it would
- 4:18still not be as I'm certainly not going to get
- 4:21a master's degree or a doctorate, Like I'm not going
- 4:23to do that much.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Oh I don't know.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Maybe when when radio is done, maybe you want to
- 4:29get a master's degree or a doctorate in communications.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I don't know. Maybe I could be a teacher at
- 4:36the U.
- 4:36Speaker 3: I could teach.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Now that's one of the programs they'll cut.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's not necessary.
- 4:42Speaker 4: No, it's not necessary.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Yeah, this is not a skill anybody.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Especially not these days exactly. And it's stretching it to
- 4:51call it a skill.
- 4:52Speaker 4: Yeah,
