- Jaba: Hello everybody and welcome back to the Scout and the Speculator podcast. This is Will Jarvis, also known as Jabba Cards. Joined as always by Jeremy Brown of Perfect Game Baseball, more importantly known as JGB underscore cards underscore. And today we have what will probably be our last iteration of weekly price checks for 2026 Bowman Chrome. We seem to be hitting a point where all the cards have leveled out. Found their longer term values. Moving forward, instead of doing three individual episodes for DSL hitters, full season hitters, and pitchers, we might keep doing it just as one episode rather than three. I think it's Jheremy: Mm-hmm. Jaba: nice to still have it as a reference point. But this is going to be the last week where it's three standalone episodes. Just not much changing anymore, but we still want to get into these guys' prices and talk about. Some deals, some guys we think are a bit too high and so forth. Jeremy, let's let's hear about the DSL header prices. Jheremy: So we're gonna do this a little different where we used to kind of go through pick and prod. I'm gonna run through all sixteen. I'm gonna say up, down, and by how much, and then we're gonna go back and kind of talk about a couple of the guys that kind of stand out for us. So Fernandez, he is exactly the same. Francisco Renteria, he's down by about ten dollars, give or take. Something we had talked about in the buy sell hold episode previously. Angebal Gomez up by three dollars, four dollars. Makes sense with the AFL. Wandia Sejan actually up four dollars. Chohense Jaba: Yep. Jheremy: Colame down five bucks. He was one of our holds. Ricky Money's de Ricky Money and Diego Frontado keeping them together, still about a two for one. Two Diegos for one monies. Joniel Hernandez is down about a dollar. Santiago Solarte appears to be on the downfall of almost seven dollar drop. Kind of interesting. Curious why it's down that much. Angel Nunez is almost split in half from 1432 down to 850. Chatter Suarez saw about a $3 tumble. Juan Torres about a $5-6 tumble. Aldien Rosario, we talked about him as a buy. He is now sub-10. That was down about four bucks. Samil Serrano is an absolute buy at twelve dollars twelve dollars and ninety-five cents, down almost seven bucks. Jaba: Big time. Jheremy: Manuel Bolivar, down a buck, but also read back to his week three sales. And Juan Rijo just doesn't really transact all that often. 1621 up from ten forty seven could be one of those shorter printed base autos where you just don't see it happen. So one or two sit sales will really skew the charts. All that said, I'm out of breath. Take take a couple names that we should talk about more so here. Jaba: Yeah, I think the obvious the three that really stand out to me, Angel Nunez at eight fifty, Santiago Solarte at twelve dollars and thirteen cents, and Samil Serrano at twelve ninety-five. I think Jheremy: Yeah. Jaba: Elian Rosario's a bit low too, but we just talked about him on our buy, sell, hold episode. We called him a buy, so I don't think we need to rehash that. If you want to hear about him, go listen to the buy, hold, sell. Angel Nunez at 850 is really intriguing to me. I understand why he's not in the high teens when you're looking at guys like Colomé, Frontado, Joni L. I understand why those guys have more hype, but Angel Nunez, despite being a hit tool first guy, I saw over the weekend that his max batted ball EV was 110. That's not like a that's not a slap hitter, right? That's not Chandler Simpson. That's Jheremy: Yeah. Jaba: serious. Serious damage. Yes, he probably needs to optimize his swing path. He needs to hit the ball in the air more to tap into power, and I don't think this is a hey, if this guy starts hitting more fly balls, he's, you know, gonna be a 30 homer guy at the major league level. I'm not saying that, but I liked Angel Nunez before I saw that, and I still would have thought it was cheap. But after seeing that, I really think that he is being slept on. I will say something that concerns me. with Reds guys is how conservative they are in their player development. I don't know if you agree with that. I'd kind of like your sign-off there. While I'm in grand statements. Jheremy: Yeah, I mean we Jaba: But like Liebert Zaponte stick stuck around Steel Hall. Obviously he's a bit more of a project type, but he was the only top 15 or whatever pick to go to the complex. He really only got, what, a week in single A? And Jheremy: Right. Jaba: You just see them being a lot more passive with their guys, right? Because I believe An Angel Salio was a repeater. He had put Jheremy: Uh-huh. Jaba: up good numbers the first time. I don't think Angel Nunez will be a repeater, but that will be really bad for his value if he does. Jheremy: I mean, if if he becomes a repeat guy for whatever reason and he drops, like at at that point you just buy literally everything. And I'll say, like, looking at his prices, like, I think our number might be skewed a little bit by a couple five dollar sales. He's generally right around that fifteen and change mark, as high as twenty twenty one. So I think a couple there's there were a few five dollar sales that might have really been altering his price. I don't see that many sub ten dollars so i still think the point remains and i think you would agree with me like even at twelve dollars he's still a buy like even like twelve to fifteen dollar range i still think he's a buy and if you can get him sub ten dollars like absolutely go gobble those up Jaba: Right, because he he really just checks all the boxes when you're briefly looking at a DSL guy's line. More walks than strikeouts, fourteen extra base hits, five homers, twenty four steals. Again, it's hard to make much of the limited data, especially with steals. You know, God knows if that's just bad catchers, if a guy's actually fast, but He's five ten one sixty and he's hitting the ball at one ten. That's that's pretty serious. I'm not sure how much room there is to grow, but you'd imagine at least in the weight column there's fifteen to twenty pounds to be added there, even if he stays at five ten. And looking at his profile now, he is a April birthday, so he'll be eighteen in early April. That makes me hope that he won't go back to the DSL. I feel like guys like Arguellis, it's the guys where they were sixteen for most. He's not a repeater, just an example of a guy who was really young in the DSL. So that makes me hopeful, but I also have no idea what I'm talking about. I'm just kind of theorizing here. But Jheremy: Hmm. Jaba: Angel Nunez, like you said, I think he's a bye at 1415. He's definitely a bye at eight fifty. And then Serrano and Solarte. Two guys that I kind of see has similar profiles. It's that big athletic gazelle type, you know, that tall, lanky outfielder. Who has some swing and miss. There's definitely strikeout concern, but there's also unbelievable athleticism, that raw power that you dream about when the Bowman Chrome checklist comes out. You hear people saying, this is a future 30-30 guy. Those are the guys that fall into that tier. Again, not saying that they're future 30-30 guys, but they've got that build, that raw power that you can dream on. And Silarte specifically has strikeout issues. Issues that I do worry about. But I think again, this is just example of guys being twelve bucks when they should be seventeen, eighteen bucks, because there's really Jheremy: Yeah. Jaba: no no reason they should be beneath their peers. If anything, at least Serrano is one of my favorites from that second tier of guys we always talk about, right? That clump of call it twelve to fifteen DSL names where it's like, okay, we don't really have enough to separate these guys, so they all go into this tier, but you can kind to pick out favorites from that list and Serrano's definitely one of my favorites and I do like Solarte as well. I just think that they're far too cheap. And looking at it now, you know, Juan Rihos at sixteen dollars, much rather have any of Nunia's Solarte and Serrano for cheaper. Again, these prices change fast. They're low enough where a week of data can spike it or tank it. And that's nothing against Juan Riho. Like I said, we don't really know who's what right now. We're just going off what we have, which isn't as much as you would like to make these kind of decisions. But really those are just three names that I really like that I think are a bit too low even compared to their peers. What what's standing out to you here? Jheremy: Yeah, I mean I like those. Obviously Solarte six foot five and a child, so for him figuring out his body, having some swing and miss, like yeah, I'm good with that. Makes sense. Jaba: Right. Jheremy: Checks out. I mean those were the those are like the easy low hanging fruit ones, right? Like Juan Torres scraping down to almost ten bucks, I think like scoop some of him up because you can never go wrong with Yankee prospects. For as much as people seem to love Joni L, him being as cheap as he is, I would have thought he'd be closer to like Ricky Money's money, but he's not. So I I'm just kinda I Jaba: Money is money. Jheremy: I'm still cons like surprised that Money's is holding as strong as he is. This like he's been thirty plus. Like thirty's his lowest is is his floor so far. Like, I just compared to some of these other guys, I don't know that there's a ton of difference differentiation. Truly, between like him and Samil Serrano, maybe I'm wrong in that. Maybe I'm like way off and you're like, well, he's an idiot and you're not gonna listen anymore. But if you're telling me y Jaba: Happens. Jheremy: like eight dollar what what's Samil doing right now? Twelve? You can get almost like a three to Jaba: Twelve I think. Jheremy: one, like I'm gonna do that. Personally. Jaba: Hundred percent. Jheremy: So that's kind of it. I'm kinda I'm also in awe. Jaba: Yeah, I I'm with you on that. Jheremy: I'm in awe of this bookend true gold Francisco Rentoria PSA ten that just went up. Jaba: Yeah, that's gonna that's gonna do r what's it at? Is it an auction or a Jheremy: It's a ten thousand OBO. Jaba: Yeah, that's that's a bit optimistic, but that thing'll probably do Jheremy: That's gonna be a pop one for a long time though. So good for I don't Jaba: What do you think it'll do? Three grand? Four grand? Jheremy: know. I don't know, but I know I know it's gonna be a lot of money. I know it looks like it's Shubi who got it, so he must have hit that in a break and expressed it. He's got some big cards up right there. Good lord. I'm just looking at his shop real quick. He's got the Brady Ebole portraits in a ten. Josiah Bubblegum auto in a ten. Jesus Baez porlet of ten in a ten auto. Those are some big cards. So he plays cards well. Not to go into somebody's eBay store, but good lord. There's some envy there. That's all. Jaba: Yeah. Yep. Looking forward to seeing some grades pop. I have a couple bigger ones that I'm looking forward to seeing in the next couple weeks, hopefully. Those will definitely be plastered all over the internet. If they're not, it means it went poorly. but yeah. Any other Jheremy: Yeah. Jaba: any other thoughts on any of our DSL hitters here? Are we good to jump into the next one? Jheremy: I think we're good to jump. I mean, things I I I feel like we're probably pretty safe. We've said it. Like you're good to start going and buying your base. They've kind of stabilized. Jaba: That's fine. Jheremy: Might be able to get a dollar cheaper here, two dollars there. It might be th three dollars more expensive there. I guess now that they are reaching, like if you see one pop and you want to buy it at the price, like go get it. Don't do it so quick that it's off center and falling off to the edge, 'cause even as a base auto, you're gonna have a hard time moving that. Like, I bought it for twelve bucks, and it's like, yeah, but it's like It's ninety ten. Jaba: It looks Jheremy: And centering, like you're gonna get three dollars for it even at the cheapest, and it's like who cares 'cause it's the difference of seven bucks. But we also don't want to just light money on fire. So be careful Jaba: For sure. Jheremy: of centering. Some of them this year are terrible. Jaba: Yeah, and I think it's good that you made that distinction and again this isn't saying, this isn't PSA ten centering, this isn't fifty-five forty five, this is sixty forty. Not saying with those cards, but there's a bunch, like you said, where the picture's like falling off the card. Jheremy: Yeah. Jaba: Your guy's arm will be cut off. you'll know when you see it, and just be careful with those, because even if you get a great deal, it's just gonna be harder to move. and you're making Jheremy: Right. Jaba: more work for yourself, you're not gonna make money. At the end of the day it's just kind of a pain in the butt. And Jheremy: That's right. Jaba: we obviously wanna help as much as we can with bigger investments and buying cards, but even the little things like that I think are really important to discuss and kind of get out there as little mistakes that will save you time, headache, and even a little bit of money. So with that being said, we're gonna wrap up there, get right into our other two episodes for the day. I guess we'll post five episodes today. Pretty good. Pretty good. Jheremy: Not it. Jaba: We're pumping again. Alright. Thanks everyone for listening. We appreciate you very much. And let's go, Matt. See you guys. Jheremy: I think that went well.
