- 0:00Speaker 1: And now move the Sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:07Speaker 1: What's up, everybody, Welcome to move the sticks, DJ, Bucky,
- 0:11Speaker 1: Rhett back with you. Week one is in the books,
- 0:13Speaker 1: and I would say it ended with a bang. I mean,
- 0:15Speaker 1: that was one of the more emotionally roller coastery rides
- 0:20Speaker 1: that I can remember for a Monday night football game.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Week one, Buck, What in the world. I mean, I'm
- 0:27Speaker 1: still trying to bring all this stuff in that we
- 0:30Speaker 1: saw last night. It was a lot.
- 0:31Speaker 2: There was a lot. And you can hear my dog
- 0:33Speaker 2: in the background, she's saying this a lot because of
- 0:35Speaker 2: all the stuff that we saw, not only on Monday night,
- 0:37Speaker 2: but throughout the course of the weekend. There is nothing
- 0:40Speaker 2: like the National Football League. We think we know coming
- 0:43Speaker 2: out of the preseason, but we really have no idea
- 0:45Speaker 2: what's going to take place when they kick it off
- 0:47Speaker 2: for real.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Look, guys, I mean I was at Jets camp. You know.
- 0:51Speaker 4: Chances are you guys were there at some point in
- 0:53Speaker 4: time based on all that we talked about, you know,
- 0:56Speaker 4: with this Jets team coming into this season.
- 0:58Speaker 3: I was on the on.
- 1:00Speaker 4: The pregame show for the Giants Jets preseason game that
- 1:05Speaker 4: we had live on NFL Network. You know, the amount
- 1:08Speaker 4: that we had talked about anticipated, got excited for what
- 1:14Speaker 4: was about to be this season debut of a year
- 1:17Speaker 4: that you know, we expected to have such huge expectations
- 1:20Speaker 4: for this Jets team. I felt like I was invested,
- 1:23Speaker 4: you know, and then now I'm just you know, I think,
- 1:26Speaker 4: like everyone, you know, your your heart just kind of sank. Obviously,
- 1:29Speaker 4: you feel terrible for Aaron and for everyone who put
- 1:31Speaker 4: in that much time to make this season you know
- 1:34Speaker 4: all that it could be for the Jets. But now
- 1:35Speaker 4: it's like, all right, we got to move past this thing, right,
- 1:38Speaker 4: we got sixteen games left. Let's figure out a way,
- 1:40Speaker 4: you know, to salvage this season, because you know, they
- 1:42Speaker 4: do have a ton of talent.
- 1:44Speaker 1: I'll tell you guys, man, and we'll jump into this game.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I was actually visiting someone in the hospital watching the game.
- 1:50Speaker 1: So I'm watching this game and I did not I
- 1:52Speaker 1: got there. I literally got in my car. I'm driving
- 1:55Speaker 1: to the hospital and it's there's like now twelve minutes
- 1:58Speaker 1: ago in the first quarter, and I turn on the
- 2:00Speaker 1: radio and it's like Zach Wilson drops back to pass,
- 2:03Speaker 1: and I kind of just was like I'm in the
- 2:04Speaker 1: car by myself, going like, wait, what what's going on?
- 2:08Speaker 1: Like I was totally lost, trying to catch up on
- 2:10Speaker 1: the news. So then fast forward to the end of
- 2:13Speaker 1: the game. I'm in the hospital. It's late, you know,
- 2:16Speaker 1: obviously it's it's it's in overtime, even though we're on
- 2:18Speaker 1: the West coast. He takes that punt back and I
- 2:21Speaker 1: just like jump out of my seat like, oh my gosh.
- 2:24Speaker 1: And then I realized you can't scream like that, oh
- 2:28Speaker 1: my gosh when you're in a hospital that somebody, the
- 2:31Speaker 1: nurse is gonna come crashing in there and think something's
- 2:34Speaker 1: gone terribly wrong. It was, Yeah, it was. It was surreal.
- 2:37Speaker 1: The whole thing was bizarre. But Buck, I guess I'll
- 2:42Speaker 1: kick it over to you. First of all, you know,
- 2:45Speaker 1: is hope lost for this Jets team and where do
- 2:47Speaker 1: they go? You know, in your opinion, if you had
- 2:50Speaker 1: to make this next decision, this is going to be
- 2:52Speaker 1: critical for them. What do you do?
- 2:54Speaker 2: Oh? I think you stand pat. You may bring in
- 2:56Speaker 2: a veteran quarterback to obviously back up Zach Wilson, but
- 3:00Speaker 2: part of your confidence one of the reasons why you
- 3:01Speaker 2: didn't trade Zack Wilson ways because you felt like he
- 3:03Speaker 2: had some value and you felt like, after listening to
- 3:06Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers, at some point he was going to handle
- 3:09Speaker 2: a time back and the keys to the offense back
- 3:11Speaker 2: to Zack Wilson. Not this year, maybe not next year,
- 3:14Speaker 2: but in a couple of years. The expectations that Zach
- 3:16Speaker 2: Wilson was going to continue to be the franchise quarterback.
- 3:20Speaker 2: I would rally around Zach Wilson. If I'm Robert Slin
- 3:23Speaker 2: the offensive staff, Let's build him up because throughout the
- 3:26Speaker 2: course of the preseason, Zach Wilson looked like a different guy.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Watching him play last night against the Buffalo Bills, he
- 3:33Speaker 2: looked like a more mature quarterback at the position. Was
- 3:37Speaker 2: it perfect, No, but he certainly was more decisive, more confident,
- 3:41Speaker 2: avoided a big mistake, and found a way to win
- 3:45Speaker 2: game a game that maybe he wouldn't have won last year.
- 3:47Speaker 2: If you're Robert Sala and those guys, this is part
- 3:50Speaker 2: of why they pay you the salary that they pay
- 3:52Speaker 2: you to be the head coach. Your job is to
- 3:54Speaker 2: solve problems. You now have a problem at quarterback. The
- 3:57Speaker 2: solution should be Zack Wilson. But now how do we
- 4:00Speaker 2: fix the team to win with Zack Wilson in quarterback
- 4:03Speaker 2: instead of Aaron Rodgers at quarterback.
- 4:05Speaker 4: Yeah, and look, I think I don't know, DJ, You're
- 4:07Speaker 4: going to get into this based on what you saw
- 4:09Speaker 4: from Zach Wilson and from this offense once Aaron Rodgers
- 4:12Speaker 4: went down. But but I think you kind of saw
- 4:15Speaker 4: the form, right, you kind of you got a taste
- 4:17Speaker 4: of it in game. And I think until you can
- 4:21Speaker 4: get this offense and you get Zach and Nathaniel Hackett
- 4:25Speaker 4: to kind of, you know, work this thing out together
- 4:28Speaker 4: and find their best course forward, you know, in the
- 4:30Speaker 4: past game and throughout, you know, and that's good to me.
- 4:32Speaker 4: It's gonna take some time, right, It's gonna take a
- 4:35Speaker 4: couple of weeks. So until then, you ride bres Hall,
- 4:38Speaker 4: you ride Dalvin Cook, you ride Michael Carter like those.
- 4:42Speaker 4: That run game was terrific last night. I mean Brice
- 4:45Speaker 4: obviously had the eighty three yard run, which was awesome,
- 4:48Speaker 4: but then you know, came back in the next you know,
- 4:49Speaker 4: nine carries were still pretty solid.
- 4:52Speaker 2: You know.
- 4:52Speaker 4: Dalvin Cook, you know, didn't get it going as much
- 4:54Speaker 4: in the run game, but you can rely on him
- 4:56Speaker 4: in the past game too.
- 4:57Speaker 3: I think I think what.
- 4:58Speaker 4: You're you know, part of what you going to see
- 5:00Speaker 4: is what you saw in the wake of the Aaron
- 5:03Speaker 4: Rodgers injury, and until Zach and Nathaniel Hackett and the
- 5:07Speaker 4: offensive staff can figure out a path forward of comfortability
- 5:10Speaker 4: in the past game, you ride it.
- 5:12Speaker 3: You ride it out because that the.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Offensive line, for as shaky as they might have been
- 5:15Speaker 4: throughout the preseason DJ you know, in the in pass
- 5:18Speaker 4: pro I mean like it looked pretty dang good in
- 5:20Speaker 4: the run game.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Yeah, and this was the first time getting that specific
- 5:23Speaker 1: five out there together. So I think you'll see them
- 5:25Speaker 1: it provided they can stay healthy get better. They do
- 5:27Speaker 1: have a little depth. Joe Tipman's not starting for them
- 5:30Speaker 1: right now. They're rookie who's going to be a really
- 5:31Speaker 1: good player. Along the interior. They have Vara Tucker who
- 5:33Speaker 1: can slide out and play tackle if needed, So they
- 5:35Speaker 1: have a little bit of depth there. They just need
- 5:38Speaker 1: to stay healthy if they can. Up front, a couple
- 5:40Speaker 1: of things bresee Hall you mentioned him, reht He played
- 5:42Speaker 1: seventeen snaps. Seventeen snaps, he had one hundred and forty
- 5:45Speaker 1: seven total yards. I mean, goodness, crazious, and people need
- 5:49Speaker 1: to remember go back to last year. We know how
- 5:51Speaker 1: it ended last year with Zach Wilson and the Jets.
- 5:54Speaker 1: They couldn't win a game, They couldn't move the ball,
- 5:56Speaker 1: he got benched. It was a nightmare. But look at
- 5:58Speaker 1: what happened when they had a Vera Tucker in the lineup.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Look at what happened when they had Breece Hall in
- 6:03Speaker 1: the lineup. They were winning games with Zach Wilson not
- 6:06Speaker 1: really asking him to do a whole lot early on
- 6:08Speaker 1: in the season. Now fast forward to this year. You've
- 6:11Speaker 1: got Vera Tucker back. You've got Briece hallback. Now you've
- 6:14Speaker 1: got Mackay Beckton, who you didn't have last year. Now
- 6:17Speaker 1: you've got Dalvin Cook as well. You've got Lazard, who
- 6:21Speaker 1: is an unbelievable blocker who he helps the run game
- 6:24Speaker 1: as well, and he's a trustworthy target you can get
- 6:26Speaker 1: the ball to. They played a bunch of thirteen personnel.
- 6:29Speaker 1: They had three tight ends on the field. Jeremy Ruckert
- 6:32Speaker 1: is going to be a really good player. But when
- 6:34Speaker 1: you look at Uzama, Conklin and Rutgert, they can give
- 6:38Speaker 1: you some nightmares matchup wise. What they're doing in the
- 6:40Speaker 1: run game and then maybe spreads you out a little
- 6:42Speaker 1: bit in the past game. I think this offense with
- 6:45Speaker 1: Nathaniel Hackett looks on first blush to be a better
- 6:48Speaker 1: fit for Zach. They're going to really incorporate the screen game.
- 6:51Speaker 1: They're going to bake in some easy completions for him.
- 6:54Speaker 1: But I want to give Zach a little bit of
- 6:56Speaker 1: credit here because I felt like watching it and listening
- 6:59Speaker 1: to the broadcast was almost like, oh my gosh, you know,
- 7:03Speaker 1: everything that happened good was somebody else's to somebody else's credit,
- 7:06Speaker 1: and everything that went bad was his fault. And I'm like,
- 7:09Speaker 1: hold up. There's a third and five conversion where he
- 7:12Speaker 1: throws a corner route to Garrett Wilson. It's a key conversion,
- 7:17Speaker 1: and I'm watching this buck and when you see it
- 7:19Speaker 1: on TV, you're like, oh, he underthrew it and kind
- 7:21Speaker 1: of got him on the back shoulder. He had to
- 7:23Speaker 1: go down and cradle and catch it. And then you
- 7:25Speaker 1: watch the tape this morning and I see, look, you've
- 7:28Speaker 1: got the corner to Davis White, who's sinking underneath that.
- 7:31Speaker 1: He throws that on target.
- 7:32Speaker 2: It's picked.
- 7:32Speaker 1: He actually did a nice job of pulling him away
- 7:34Speaker 1: from the defender. It was a good throw. He had
- 7:36Speaker 1: a couple other nice conversions, So I think there's there's
- 7:41Speaker 1: things in place to help him and Buck, I'll get
- 7:44Speaker 1: it to you on this one. I think the most
- 7:45Speaker 1: important piece that's there for him that wasn't there last
- 7:48Speaker 1: year is Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers needs to stay invested
- 7:52Speaker 1: here because the two questions, the two issues was Zach
- 7:55Speaker 1: more than anything else, decision making and confidence, and I
- 8:00Speaker 1: think Aaron Rodgers can help in both those departments.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Absolutely can help him. The best job that I think
- 8:05Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers has done in looking at it through hard knocks,
- 8:08Speaker 2: he has been the mentor to Zach Wilson that every
- 8:11Speaker 2: young quarterback needs. He has worked with Zach Wilson to
- 8:14Speaker 2: understand how to go through the progressions when the dollar
- 8:17Speaker 2: it up and be more of a risk taker and
- 8:20Speaker 2: win the game is in hand and when you can
- 8:21Speaker 2: be conservative and you just make good decisions. He needs
- 8:25Speaker 2: to be around because Zach Wilson has certainly made a
- 8:27Speaker 2: tremendous amount of progress from the beginning of the offseason
- 8:30Speaker 2: to now. He looks like a much different player than
- 8:32Speaker 2: the one that we saw the last time he was
- 8:34Speaker 2: on the field in twenty twenty two. That needs to continue.
- 8:38Speaker 2: But you pointed out Breese Hall. Look, when I look
- 8:41Speaker 2: at Breeshall, Breese Hall has some vintage Levean bell, And
- 8:45Speaker 2: I don't want the Ess fans to freak out because
- 8:46Speaker 2: the Levon Bell that showed up in New York is
- 8:48Speaker 2: not the one that I'm alluding to. I'm talking about
- 8:49Speaker 2: the one that played in Pittsburgh, the one that was
- 8:52Speaker 2: crafty and shifty and has a knack for getting to
- 8:55Speaker 2: the next level. Breese Hall looks like a superstar running back. Well,
- 8:58Speaker 2: now you take Breese Hall Dalvin Cook, you run the
- 9:01Speaker 2: football behind that big offensive line. You now change the
- 9:05Speaker 2: magic number from maybe thirty rushing attempts to thirty eight
- 9:09Speaker 2: to forty, and you just commit to We're going to
- 9:12Speaker 2: run the football down upon his throats, much like Kyle
- 9:15Speaker 2: Shanahan does with the Niners. You play defense behind that
- 9:19Speaker 2: and find a handful of concepts that Zach Wilson can execute. Well,
- 9:24Speaker 2: I'm not asking the number two overall pick to play
- 9:26Speaker 2: like Rock Purty, but what I'm asking Robert solid to
- 9:29Speaker 2: do is to look at this colleague, Kyle Shanahan, and
- 9:32Speaker 2: figure out how they got brock Purdy to play well
- 9:35Speaker 2: and implement a similar strategy to give Zach Wilson to
- 9:38Speaker 2: play at a high level for the Jets and still
- 9:40Speaker 2: find a way to win win games in New York.
- 9:42Speaker 4: There's a way to win with this offense. But it
- 9:44Speaker 4: was playing to see last night. This is a championship
- 9:48Speaker 4: caliber defense that the Jets have. I mean, you know,
- 9:52Speaker 4: you get Quincy Williams, you know, in DJ Reid, you know,
- 9:56Speaker 4: combining for like twenty one tackles on the day, quinnin
- 10:00Speaker 4: you know, is I mean quinnin forced that last I
- 10:03Speaker 4: think it was actually the second interception from Josh Allen,
- 10:05Speaker 4: which we'll get to here in just second, and then
- 10:08Speaker 4: you know it was Quentnin absolutely destroyed the center and
- 10:11Speaker 4: you know, Josh threw up a prayer into double coverage
- 10:13Speaker 4: that got picked off, and you know, you get Jermaine
- 10:16Speaker 4: Johnson in with the sack, you know, and Quentin Jefferson
- 10:20Speaker 4: might end up being one of the better you know
- 10:21Speaker 4: acquisitions of this offseason. Two sacks on the night for
- 10:25Speaker 4: himself as well. Jordan Whitehead like Josh Allen like, is
- 10:31Speaker 4: it is it a problem with seeing the number three?
- 10:34Speaker 4: Is it like an invisibility situation. The three interceptions all
- 10:38Speaker 4: to number three in white. I mean, just to kind
- 10:43Speaker 4: of connect the dots with Zach Wilson and Josh, I mean,
- 10:45Speaker 4: Zach out played Josh Allen. Zach operated better within the
- 10:48Speaker 4: offense that he was running that Josh Allen did. And
- 10:51Speaker 4: you know, Josh said as much himself, he was the
- 10:53Speaker 4: reason they lost this game. You know that he said
- 10:55Speaker 4: it a number of different ways, a number of different times, and.
- 10:57Speaker 3: He's absolutely right.
- 10:58Speaker 4: It felt eerily similar to the problems that they had
- 11:02Speaker 4: on offense a year ago, barely running the ball, throwing
- 11:05Speaker 4: it forty two times a game and forcing balls into
- 11:08Speaker 4: you know, double coverage, clearly bad decisions at times, and
- 11:12Speaker 4: then that last interception might have been both bad decision,
- 11:16Speaker 4: bad throw the whole deal. I'm a little concerned about
- 11:21Speaker 4: where this Bill's offense is going to take this team
- 11:23Speaker 4: this year. A DJ's because those three interceptions from Josh
- 11:27Speaker 4: Allen are you know, those are unacceptable?
- 11:32Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think that's it's a combination of the
- 11:34Speaker 1: two things. And you know, I've had I feel that
- 11:37Speaker 1: a lot of questions about man that this Chargers defense
- 11:39Speaker 1: can't be this bad against the Miami Dolphins. Are they
- 11:41Speaker 1: really that bad? I'm like, well, you know what, the
- 11:42Speaker 1: other side of his Miami's offense is really good. Now.
- 11:44Speaker 1: This Jets defense is loaded, they are stacked, and they
- 11:47Speaker 1: were hitting him repeated. They got to him five times
- 11:50Speaker 1: a sack and they hit him nine other time or
- 11:51Speaker 1: nine times total. And I think what happens sometimes is
- 11:54Speaker 1: a quarterback when you've got pressure like that, and then
- 11:58Speaker 1: all of a sudden you're able to elude the pressure
- 12:00Speaker 1: a little bit and you feel like you've bought time.
- 12:02Speaker 1: You feel like somebody's got to be opened down the field,
- 12:05Speaker 1: like I just got out of this maze and somehow
- 12:07Speaker 1: I've survived, Like where's my shot? Well, the thing is
- 12:10Speaker 1: the Jets are doing this, They're getting this pressure with
- 12:12Speaker 1: four guys, sometimes five guys. They still have coverage on
- 12:15Speaker 1: the back end. And I think he just got too greedy,
- 12:18Speaker 1: too aggressive. You know, in college at Wyoming we referred
- 12:21Speaker 1: to a little bit as some hero ball. Well, this
- 12:23Speaker 1: you've got to understand as you mature, understand there there's
- 12:27Speaker 1: different paths to the finish line on a weekly basis
- 12:29Speaker 1: in the NFL, buck and this was a game that
- 12:32Speaker 1: didn't require that from him. He didn't need to play
- 12:35Speaker 1: hero ball. They needed to run the ball and punt.
- 12:37Speaker 1: At one point in time, that's all they really felt
- 12:39Speaker 1: like they had to do. I mean, they had this
- 12:41Speaker 1: Jets offense trying to find themselves. The stadium was dead.
- 12:45Speaker 1: You know, you just had you know, Aaron Rodgers. It
- 12:47Speaker 1: felt like this is let's just complete balls, let's run
- 12:50Speaker 1: the football. Any drive that ends in a punt or
- 12:52Speaker 1: a kick is a successful drive. The one thing you
- 12:55Speaker 1: can't do is turn it over. And he did it
- 12:57Speaker 1: four times. So that to me just showed a little
- 12:59Speaker 1: bit of a life lack of growth and maturity that
- 13:01Speaker 1: we were hoping to see.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Yeah, lack of maturity, lack of growth. But I'm gonna
- 13:05Speaker 2: bring this up and it'll be something to watch the
- 13:07Speaker 2: rest of the year. Sean McDermott decided to become the
- 13:10Speaker 2: defensive play caller this year after Leslie Fraser stepped away
- 13:13Speaker 2: from it. And what I worry about with Sean McDermott
- 13:16Speaker 2: doing this is can he stay on top of calling
- 13:19Speaker 2: the defense while managing the overall picture of the game.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Meaning in this situation, perhaps if he had a defensive
- 13:26Speaker 2: coordinator he could then call in the Ken dors and
- 13:28Speaker 2: say we got this game under control. The only thing
- 13:31Speaker 2: we need to do is drain the clock, take care
- 13:33Speaker 2: of the ball, and let's just get out of here
- 13:35Speaker 2: with a win. We don't need to worry about stats.
- 13:37Speaker 2: We don't need to worry about how many yards that
- 13:39Speaker 2: Josh Allen has. Let's just do what we need to
- 13:42Speaker 2: do to get out of here. One of the things
- 13:44Speaker 2: to monitor when you become the guy that is also
- 13:47Speaker 2: calling plays, you're so entrenched to that one side of
- 13:50Speaker 2: the ball that sometimes you miss the bigger picture when
- 13:53Speaker 2: it comes to complimentary football play. I wonder will Sean
- 13:57Speaker 2: McDermott be distracted by the added responsibilities that he put
- 14:01Speaker 2: on his plate, but being the defensive coordinator as opposed
- 14:04Speaker 2: to the CEO that he was when he managed the offense,
- 14:08Speaker 2: defense and special teams and coordinated those groups to make
- 14:11Speaker 2: sure this team was always in the best position to
- 14:13Speaker 2: win the game.
- 14:14Speaker 4: And here's the thing, the last thing I'll say on Josh,
- 14:17Speaker 4: and I think that's you know, that's a fair point,
- 14:19Speaker 4: by the way, to wonder, you know, and to follow
- 14:21Speaker 4: down the stretch here, bucky about you know, how Sean
- 14:24Speaker 4: mcdermoy continues to manage the game as a head coach
- 14:27Speaker 4: and a defensive play caller moving forward, my guess is
- 14:30Speaker 4: he's going to figure that out. And my guess is
- 14:33Speaker 4: Josh Allen is probably going to figure it out too.
- 14:34Speaker 4: I mean, we've seen how much better than this he
- 14:37Speaker 4: can be and seen it, you know, for an entire season,
- 14:41Speaker 4: just a couple of years ago.
- 14:42Speaker 3: I mean last year.
- 14:42Speaker 4: I know at times felt like we saw games like
- 14:45Speaker 4: this and he alluded to it.
- 14:46Speaker 3: I mean, you go back into this game alone and you.
- 14:49Speaker 4: See that phenomenal scramble he has about to go out
- 14:51Speaker 4: of bounds and finds a way to sneak it in
- 14:53Speaker 4: to Stepan Diggs in the back of the end zone
- 14:55Speaker 4: for a touchdown, and I just like, obviously, I can't
- 14:58Speaker 4: imagine how difficult it is, no, when you can make
- 15:00Speaker 4: a play like that and then trying to dial it
- 15:03Speaker 4: back when you know, when you know you don't necessarily
- 15:06Speaker 4: have to because you've done it so many different times.
- 15:09Speaker 4: So I get that that part of it is probably
- 15:11Speaker 4: a little bit difficult, but man, Yeah, and you got
- 15:15Speaker 4: to have that game situation awareness, knowing where you're at
- 15:18Speaker 4: and knowing what's required of you just to go out
- 15:20Speaker 4: there and get away.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Yeah, and again, look, it's one week the Bills. They're
- 15:24Speaker 1: going to be okay. The defense is really good. You
- 15:27Speaker 1: go back and watch the tape. They're gonna be They're
- 15:28Speaker 1: gonna be really good on that side of the ball.
- 15:30Speaker 1: And Joshua he'll he'll learn from this, He'll grow. The
- 15:33Speaker 1: ability is ridiculous. I wouldn't I wouldn't worry about the Bills.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Just yet another quarterback on the positive side of things
- 15:40Speaker 1: that deserves some praise. And it was another one we
- 15:43Speaker 1: were looking forward to seeing. We didn't know what we
- 15:44Speaker 1: were going to get. Was Jordan Love making his debut
- 15:47Speaker 1: for the Green Bay Packers. This was a big win
- 15:50Speaker 1: for them on the road. You see the numbers right here,
- 15:51Speaker 1: fifteen to twenty seven, two forty five, three touchdowns in
- 15:55Speaker 1: a game where I thought he got better and better
- 15:56Speaker 1: and better, and the numbers are going to come up
- 15:59Speaker 1: to compare him to you know, Aaron Rodgers and his debut,
- 16:02Speaker 1: both both big wins. Obviously, Rodgers in a blowout fashion
- 16:05Speaker 1: thirty seven to three, but again the number is very
- 16:08Speaker 1: comparable to twenty seven to two forty five Rogers, two
- 16:11Speaker 1: touchdowns and a pick, Love with three t ds. Let
- 16:15Speaker 1: me get to red on this one first, just what
- 16:17Speaker 1: you saw from Jordan Love versus what you expected to
- 16:20Speaker 1: see from Jordan Love.
- 16:22Speaker 4: You know, I think it was kind of right on
- 16:24Speaker 4: par because I think we've seen some of this, you know,
- 16:27Speaker 4: if you go out and you know you watch, you know,
- 16:28Speaker 4: some of what he was able to do in training
- 16:30Speaker 4: camp the last couple of years and in preseason at times,
- 16:33Speaker 4: you know, this year.
- 16:34Speaker 3: But what we did see was.
- 16:36Speaker 4: Something that that Josh Allen didn't have the luxury of,
- 16:38Speaker 4: which was barely any pressure on him in this game.
- 16:42Speaker 4: You know, just felt like the Bears just weren't able
- 16:45Speaker 4: to get any pressure. I mean, you watched that first
- 16:47Speaker 4: touchdown pass that he throws to Romeo Dobbs. You know,
- 16:49Speaker 4: they're down at the five yard line where we expected
- 16:51Speaker 4: things to get sped up a little bit, and he's
- 16:53Speaker 4: just kind of back there. He pat it a little bit,
- 16:55Speaker 4: he steps up in the pocket with no real threat
- 16:58Speaker 4: at the pocket collapsing. You know, you got Romeo Dobbs
- 17:01Speaker 4: is running like a triple move in the end zone here.
- 17:04Speaker 3: To get open. By the way, it was fantastic route.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Eventually comes wide open in the middle of the field,
- 17:10Speaker 4: and you know you're feeling pretty dang good, clean pocket,
- 17:12Speaker 4: good throw, all the money, touchdown, and man, he got
- 17:16Speaker 4: off and run in with some good confidence early on
- 17:18Speaker 4: in that game. And look, I know that the fifteen
- 17:20Speaker 4: to twenty seven, you know, makes you think like, ah, well,
- 17:23Speaker 4: you know, you know, just over fifty percent completion.
- 17:25Speaker 3: That's not that great.
- 17:26Speaker 4: I thought he made some big throws in the game,
- 17:29Speaker 4: made all the throws he needed to really make in
- 17:31Speaker 4: this game for his team to come out with the W.
- 17:33Speaker 4: So in terms of expectation, DJ I thought it was
- 17:35Speaker 4: right on for a guy who'd been in this program
- 17:37Speaker 4: and been in this system and been with Matt Lafleur
- 17:40Speaker 4: now for a number of years, finally getting his shot
- 17:42Speaker 4: felt like he had that experience.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:44Speaker 1: I watched the tape and to me, I thought did
- 17:46Speaker 1: a nice job of really slowing things down. His lower body.
- 17:49Speaker 1: He was, he was, he was where his feet were,
- 17:51Speaker 1: He wasn't too skittish. He got more comfortable with that
- 17:54Speaker 1: as the game went along. He saw him climb up
- 17:55Speaker 1: in the pocket. He just looked like somebody that the
- 17:57Speaker 1: game it slowed down for that's the benefit of say,
- 18:00Speaker 1: you get a chance to understand and master your offense.
- 18:04Speaker 1: You get a chance to study defenses for a few years,
- 18:06Speaker 1: he looked like somebody who had that poise. Now he
- 18:08Speaker 1: still misfired, missed a couple shots that he's got to make,
- 18:12Speaker 1: you know, accuracy wise, this is you know, if we
- 18:14Speaker 1: put up the board compared to Aaron Rodgers, like, this
- 18:16Speaker 1: is not Aaron Rodgers. He's not as pinpoint accurate as
- 18:18Speaker 1: he is. But I thought he was comfortable. I thought
- 18:21Speaker 1: he was poised and and I thought one of the
- 18:23Speaker 1: differences in that game when you watched it versus some
- 18:26Speaker 1: of these other quarterbacks that struggled this week, I thought
- 18:29Speaker 1: they were. They did a nice job. The floor did
- 18:31Speaker 1: buck of dialing up the shot play and had it
- 18:34Speaker 1: steamed up beautifully. I mean they had the tight end.
- 18:36Speaker 1: He must crave his wide open. There's nobody within forty
- 18:39Speaker 1: yards of him. Actually wasn't a great throat. It should
- 18:41Speaker 1: have been a touchdown from Jordan Love. But I thought
- 18:44Speaker 1: they were. They were. They were very specific and targeted
- 18:47Speaker 1: with when they want to take their shots, and they
- 18:49Speaker 1: hit him.
- 18:50Speaker 2: They absolutely hit him. I wrote about the Green Bay
- 18:52Speaker 2: Packers on Friday, talking about them being one of the
- 18:55Speaker 2: sleeper teams that we need to keep an eye on
- 18:57Speaker 2: that could emerge as a contender. Some of this is,
- 19:00Speaker 2: in my estimation addition by subtraction, not knocking Aaron Rodgers,
- 19:04Speaker 2: but the subtraction of a four time MVP makes this
- 19:08Speaker 2: team have to play a different way. But I think
- 19:10Speaker 2: playing differently will give them a better chance of having
- 19:13Speaker 2: postseason success because they have to play complimentary ball, meaning
- 19:17Speaker 2: they have to run the football, all control passing game
- 19:21Speaker 2: and really rely on a defense that features seven first
- 19:24Speaker 2: rounders in the too deep on the depth chart. And
- 19:27Speaker 2: so when you play to your strengths where you're more
- 19:30Speaker 2: ball control and you're leaning on the defense, well, now
- 19:32Speaker 2: I want the talent of the defense to show through.
- 19:34Speaker 2: And we saw some of that with these guys on
- 19:37Speaker 2: defense playing really really well. And we can knock the
- 19:40Speaker 2: Bears and talk about Justin Fields and his struggles and
- 19:42Speaker 2: whether the offense is doing this. But if the Green
- 19:45Speaker 2: Bay Packers play defense like that and they compliment it
- 19:48Speaker 2: with the running game and the ball control passing game,
- 19:52Speaker 2: this is a team that can win a lot of
- 19:54Speaker 2: fourth quarter games because they won't make mistakes and they'll
- 19:58Speaker 2: find a way to get it done. I am really encouraged.
- 20:01Speaker 2: If I'm a Packers fan and watching the way that
- 20:03Speaker 2: this team won, because this is the formula and the blueprint,
- 20:07Speaker 2: not only for them to have sustained regular season success.
- 20:10Speaker 2: To me, this is how they can win in advanced
- 20:12Speaker 2: farther in the postseason, but really being a team that's
- 20:15Speaker 2: connected offense, defense and special teams.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and look on the bare side of things quickly.
- 20:21Speaker 1: I mean, they just have nothing down the field. They
- 20:24Speaker 1: either don't feel comfortable calling plays down the field or
- 20:27Speaker 1: field does not feel comfortable letting it loose. But they
- 20:29Speaker 1: have got to get something going over the top. We
- 20:31Speaker 1: talked about playing half court basketball the other day. That's like,
- 20:34Speaker 1: that's like it's quarter basketball. I mean, they got no
- 20:36Speaker 1: space for justin fields in that offense. Man, brutal. But
- 20:42Speaker 1: another quarterback we talked about love exceeding expectations. Man, Maybe
- 20:45Speaker 1: the biggest disappointment at the quarterback position and a team
- 20:48Speaker 1: overall was Pittsburgh and Kenny Pickett and what that looked
- 20:51Speaker 1: like Week one. This is a team not again San Francisco.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Forty nine ers are stacked. They're loaded on the defensive
- 20:57Speaker 1: side of the ball. You know, I guess we should
- 21:00Speaker 1: have lowered our expectations for picket in this offense. But Buck,
- 21:03Speaker 1: this was ugly. It was not a pretty game. You
- 21:06Speaker 1: see the numbers there, thirty one to forty six for
- 21:08Speaker 1: two thirty two had a couple of picks in a touchdown.
- 21:10Speaker 1: But this did not look anything like we thought it
- 21:13Speaker 1: might look for this offense.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Didn't look anything like what I expected coming off the
- 21:17Speaker 2: heels are a very strong preseason by the Pittsburgh Steelers,
- 21:20Speaker 2: and the preseason evidently is a light because once you
- 21:23Speaker 2: look at preseason, what you think you know, you certainly
- 21:26Speaker 2: have no idea and the expectation what the Pittsburgh Steelers
- 21:29Speaker 2: were getting ready to go toe to toe with the
- 21:31Speaker 2: bullies on the block, the San Francisco forty nine, is
- 21:34Speaker 2: that they were going to meet them and beat them
- 21:36Speaker 2: at their own game, a physical game where it's really
- 21:40Speaker 2: about who can knot the other team out, And they tried,
- 21:44Speaker 2: I guess, to do that. But the San Francisco forty
- 21:46Speaker 2: nine has proved to be too much of a match.
- 21:48Speaker 2: I looked at their defense. They overwhelmed them at the
- 21:50Speaker 2: point of attack, never allowed Kenny Pickett to get comfortable,
- 21:53Speaker 2: couldn't win on the outside, never necessarily generated the big
- 21:56Speaker 2: plays that you think this offense can generate and to
- 22:00Speaker 2: be honest, they couldn't run the football, nor did they
- 22:02Speaker 2: try to run the football to make the game what
- 22:05Speaker 2: we thought the game had to be. This had to
- 22:07Speaker 2: be a fight in the middle of the ring where
- 22:09Speaker 2: you're dropping haymaker after haymaker. The still has never could
- 22:13Speaker 2: throp a Haymaker and the nine it just absolutely took
- 22:16Speaker 2: them to the corner and beat them up until they
- 22:18Speaker 2: had to tap out. Yeah.
- 22:19Speaker 4: I think this, this game, in this performance from Kenny Pickett,
- 22:22Speaker 4: is you know, in a way affected by you know,
- 22:24Speaker 4: the game scripts, affected by the way the game.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Flow really went.
- 22:28Speaker 4: When you know the forty nine ers jump out to
- 22:30Speaker 4: an early lead, and you know, you'd like to think
- 22:32Speaker 4: that that it doesn't affect the way that you want
- 22:33Speaker 4: to call the game, you know, knowing what your strengths
- 22:36Speaker 4: are as a team and knowing what you want to
- 22:38Speaker 4: get accomplished.
- 22:38Speaker 3: But you know it does.
- 22:40Speaker 4: It probably does. I assume it did. Otherwise she Harris,
- 22:43Speaker 4: we'd be sitting here talking about him. You don't having
- 22:45Speaker 4: much more than what do you have? Six carries in
- 22:48Speaker 4: the game, you know, for for thirty one yards that game,
- 22:51Speaker 4: you know that's not going to happen moving forward. It
- 22:54Speaker 4: just just doesn't feel like that was that was obviously
- 22:57Speaker 4: the way that they wanted this thing to go.
- 22:59Speaker 3: You know, I look at you know, we talked a
- 23:01Speaker 3: lot about the.
- 23:02Speaker 4: Steelers trying to improve their offensive line going into this season.
- 23:06Speaker 4: Really felt like they did and maybe it will come
- 23:08Speaker 4: together here down the stretch. But I mean, you want
- 23:11Speaker 4: to talk about how good that forty nine Ers defensive
- 23:13Speaker 4: line is. They had like six guys along that defensive
- 23:17Speaker 4: line with a pass rush win rate of over twenty percent.
- 23:21Speaker 4: I mean, I mean like they were getting pressure on
- 23:23Speaker 4: Kenny Pickett all over the place. But the other thing is,
- 23:27Speaker 4: you know, you look at the targets. I mean, it
- 23:29Speaker 4: wasn't like they weren't trying to push the field. I mean,
- 23:32Speaker 4: both George Pickens and Deontay Johnson, We're both getting targets ten, twelve,
- 23:36Speaker 4: fifteen yards down the field. Just weren't connecting in a
- 23:39Speaker 4: way that we saw them connecting the preseason. So I'm
- 23:42Speaker 4: not completely off the bandwagon here on the Steelers offense,
- 23:46Speaker 4: but they got approve and they got to show some
- 23:48Speaker 4: improvement here really quick.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Yeah, and to your point, wherett they did try and
- 23:52Speaker 1: push the ball down the field. There was two instances
- 23:56Speaker 1: we had receivers fall down. Kenny then missed several of them.
- 24:00Speaker 1: To me, two things just from a teaching standpoint, quarterback wise,
- 24:03Speaker 1: I thought it got sped up. He got a little
- 24:05Speaker 1: frenetic in the pocket. Now you get hit like that
- 24:07Speaker 1: and pressure like that, that's going to happen. And the
- 24:09Speaker 1: other thing is when you miss a couple of balls,
- 24:10Speaker 1: he started he really started trying to guide the football.
- 24:13Speaker 1: So those are things you can work through that, you
- 24:16Speaker 1: can coach that. And thankfully they're not going to play
- 24:17Speaker 1: the forty nine ers defense each and every week. But
- 24:20Speaker 1: to kind of put a bow on this whole thing,
- 24:22Speaker 1: I think this was kind of fascinating to me. Of
- 24:24Speaker 1: the two different conferences. We talked about the AFC all offseason,
- 24:27Speaker 1: the quarterbacks, the offenses. We talked about the NFC. Well,
- 24:30Speaker 1: it's a more physical brand of football. We saw a
- 24:32Speaker 1: couple of these interconference matchups and the physicality of the
- 24:36Speaker 1: NFC stood out big time, and that game especially. All Right,
- 24:41Speaker 1: coming up next, we're going to jump into our rookie draft.
- 24:44Speaker 1: We'll see who who came out on top last week,
- 24:47Speaker 1: and we'll have our draft of rookies for Week two
- 24:50Speaker 1: of the NFL season right after this all right, this
- 24:56Speaker 1: year we kicked off something new on the show. We're
- 24:58Speaker 1: going to be keeping track of these rooks he's on
- 25:00Speaker 1: a weekly basis. Do it in a creative fashion with
- 25:02Speaker 1: a rookie draft. We're each going to draft a quarterback,
- 25:05Speaker 1: a running back, and then a pass catch, either wide
- 25:07Speaker 1: receiver or a tight end. The way this is gonna
- 25:10Speaker 1: work is we're gonna use standard fantasy scoring from NFL
- 25:13Speaker 1: dot Com, and once we have those numbers come in.
- 25:15Speaker 1: You get three points for finishing at the highest of
- 25:17Speaker 1: a particular position. You get one point if you finish second,
- 25:21Speaker 1: and you get nothing if you finished last. So we
- 25:23Speaker 1: each drafted three guys last week in the first ever
- 25:27Speaker 1: Move the Sticks rookie draft. This is how it shook
- 25:30Speaker 1: out in terms of fantasy points. You look at the quarterbacks.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Richardson got me twenty, so I ended up taking the
- 25:35Speaker 1: quarterback category Stroud with ten for Buck. You look at
- 25:40Speaker 1: RHTT getting seven from Bryce Young the running backs, big
- 25:42Speaker 1: win for Bucky, with Bijeon getting twenty points. Rhett had
- 25:46Speaker 1: Gibbs was second there, and then I had Bigsby who
- 25:48Speaker 1: did not a whole lot for me. The wide receivers, Oh,
- 25:51Speaker 1: we're never gonna hear the end of this. Rhet got Pookin,
- 25:53Speaker 1: Nakula got them twenty one points. I had Flowers who
- 25:56Speaker 1: got seventeen point seven, and Addison got sixteen. So all
- 25:59Speaker 1: three of us had really good looking a wide outs there.
- 26:02Speaker 1: But just in terms of the fantasy points, it goes
- 26:04Speaker 1: Bucky myself RHTT. But with our scoring system, how about this,
- 26:09Speaker 1: it's four five ball game. We emerge from week one
- 26:13Speaker 1: all locked up. So this again, this is this is competitive.
- 26:17Speaker 1: We're gonna do this each and every week. We'll see
- 26:19Speaker 1: some of the same names, obviously with the quarterbacks, but
- 26:21Speaker 1: we'll get some other names in the mix here with
- 26:23Speaker 1: these pass catchers and maybe a running back or two.
- 26:26Speaker 1: So we're gonna switch up the draft order. We're all
- 26:28Speaker 1: nighted up right now. Buck, you got the first pick,
- 26:30Speaker 1: I believe last week. RHTT. You get the first pick
- 26:33Speaker 1: this week. But before before we do that, do you
- 26:35Speaker 1: want to take a victory lap? By the way, I
- 26:38Speaker 1: guess I'll let go ahead. Htt takes a victory lap
- 26:40Speaker 1: on Pooking nakook go ahead.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Come on, yeah, better believe it.
- 26:43Speaker 4: I mean, look, you know what the conversation is kind
- 26:46Speaker 4: of transformed a little bit when we talk about quarterbacks
- 26:48Speaker 4: and we do those pro days and we talk about
- 26:50Speaker 4: arm strength, and I think a lot of us get
- 26:51Speaker 4: you know, enamored by some of it. But then we've
- 26:53Speaker 4: kind of come back to level and saying, what.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Does he just have enough? Does he have enough arm strength? Yeah?
- 26:58Speaker 4: He doesk Naku has enough speed, right, he didn't run
- 27:02Speaker 4: a four to three six in Indianapolis at the combine
- 27:05Speaker 4: or at his pro day. He has enough speed to
- 27:07Speaker 4: get open. He is a strong receiver. I mean first
- 27:11Speaker 4: snap that he's got, first target he gets, he gets on.
- 27:14Speaker 4: You know, he's got a blitzing corner comes comes after
- 27:17Speaker 4: him off the edge. He's kind of able to just
- 27:19Speaker 4: maintain his leverage, get in and then find an open zone.
- 27:22Speaker 4: I think he's got the trust of Matthew Stafford. He's
- 27:24Speaker 4: got terrific hands. You watch another one of the quick
- 27:27Speaker 4: hitch catches it, Bam. He immediately knifes up field, not
- 27:30Speaker 4: trying to mess around going laterally.
- 27:32Speaker 3: There's a lot to like about Poka Nukuig.
- 27:34Speaker 4: I mean, look, honestly, kind of remind you a little
- 27:35Speaker 4: bit of what you get out of Cooper cup.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm with you on that. I think the biasest
- 27:39Speaker 1: thing about Cooper because it was like, at some point time,
- 27:41Speaker 1: you can't you can't just like be like, well he's
- 27:43Speaker 1: you know, well, I don't know. He's just working in space,
- 27:45Speaker 1: he's not having okay, he's not really facing much press coverage.
- 27:49Speaker 1: It's like, no, he's good. He's just a good player.
- 27:53Speaker 1: They're going to be selfless as we are. Let let
- 27:55Speaker 1: wret be the ego of the bunch. We won't take
- 27:57Speaker 1: our victory laps on the guys that we got right,
- 27:59Speaker 1: So we'll just jump right into the draft. Go ahead,
- 28:01Speaker 1: you got the first.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Pick, Bijon Robinson, let's go.
- 28:05Speaker 4: I think you're gonna get even more touches this week
- 28:08Speaker 4: out of the top ten pick of the Atlanta Falcons
- 28:11Speaker 4: going up against the Packers this week at home.
- 28:14Speaker 3: I'm going Bijon for my running back with the first pick.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Yeah, this is I think we're gonna have this every week.
- 28:20Speaker 1: We're gonna have Jon Robinson being the first pick. Because
- 28:23Speaker 1: it does feel like a gap between Bijeon and anybody
- 28:26Speaker 1: else at the position. It's it's it's pretty wide.
- 28:29Speaker 3: Well, I mean the touchdown he scored last week. Was
- 28:34Speaker 3: was incredible.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I didn't even major in Bijon in that game.
- 28:39Speaker 1: He was like, they just minored in Jon. I can't
- 28:41Speaker 1: wait for the game where they really cut him loose.
- 28:42Speaker 1: He's going to go off. So look, that's a smart play.
- 28:45Speaker 1: I can make a case I should go with the
- 28:47Speaker 1: second running back here, but I'm not. I'm not going
- 28:50Speaker 1: to do that because I'm going to go back to
- 28:51Speaker 1: the well, what treated me well last week is going
- 28:54Speaker 1: to treat me well this week, and that's Anthony Richardson.
- 28:57Speaker 1: He's going to be my first pick. I'll take the
- 28:59Speaker 1: quarter back to me. The the uh, the opportunity to
- 29:03Speaker 1: make things happen with his legs. That that helps, you know,
- 29:06Speaker 1: goose your point total a little bit here, So he
- 29:08Speaker 1: gives you that. And I thought he did some nice
- 29:10Speaker 1: things in the game last week. I thought he did
- 29:12Speaker 1: really worked in the middle of the field. We talked
- 29:14Speaker 1: about that yesterday. Showed some ability to sort through things
- 29:17Speaker 1: and see things and deliver some accurate balls. Now it's
- 29:19Speaker 1: not gonna be perfect, but I think the combination of
- 29:21Speaker 1: him using his legs get me some yards and maybe
- 29:23Speaker 1: a touchdown on the ground, and then maybe hitting some
- 29:26Speaker 1: plays down the field. I'm gonna I'm gonna go quarterback Buck.
- 29:28Speaker 1: I'm going Anthony Richardson with my first one.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Oh man, it's a good pick. Kevin watching him up
- 29:32Speaker 2: close and personally, he certainly did a good job at
- 29:34Speaker 2: the Indiapois coach taking build upon some of the stuff
- 29:36Speaker 2: today displayed against the Jacksonville Jaguars. So now I get
- 29:40Speaker 2: back to back pick. So uh, let's go on the
- 29:42Speaker 2: perimeter and get two playmakers that can make it happen.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Jamiir Gibbs in week two should make an improvement, so
- 29:47Speaker 2: I'm gonna take him with my first pick for the
- 29:49Speaker 2: Detroit Lions. Let's see if he's more comfortable, gets more touches,
- 29:52Speaker 2: puts the ball into paint, and then I'm gonna go
- 29:54Speaker 2: back because he treated me well a week ago. Let's
- 29:57Speaker 2: go with Jordan Addison. I saw my guy justin Jeff
- 30:00Speaker 2: had him over one hundred and fifty yards, but at
- 30:02Speaker 2: some point they gotta they gotta take him away, so
- 30:04Speaker 2: Jordan Addison will have more opportunities. So there we go.
- 30:08Speaker 2: I am the King of the North. Give me a
- 30:10Speaker 2: Detroit Lion and in Minnesota Viking, and let's stee. We
- 30:13Speaker 2: can put up some more monster numbers when it comes
- 30:15Speaker 2: to fantasy because based on my scoring on the fantasy
- 30:18Speaker 2: I want it. We got to know what kind of
- 30:19Speaker 2: scoring system we utilized it here. But based on the
- 30:22Speaker 2: fantasy points my team won last week and I deserve
- 30:25Speaker 2: my crown.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Well, yeah you did.
- 30:30Speaker 1: You scored the most fantasy points. But the rules were
- 30:32Speaker 1: well established before this whole thing started. So I mean,
- 30:35Speaker 1: let's let's be honest here. It's a it's age is.
- 30:40Speaker 4: Yeah, he's like the guy in the league that scores
- 30:42Speaker 4: the most points at the end of the season but
- 30:44Speaker 4: doesn't make the playoffs, right, I mean like nobody will ye.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, don't get me started on the padres run differential. Okay,
- 30:53Speaker 1: we could go down that road if you want. It
- 30:54Speaker 1: doesn't matter. You gotta win. You gotta win the games
- 30:56Speaker 1: with the rules as they exist. All right, I'm gonna
- 30:58Speaker 1: go my second pick. I feel like, look, I'm getting
- 31:01Speaker 1: attached to some people. Last week I took Anthony Bridge
- 31:03Speaker 1: sent a nice shot for me.
- 31:05Speaker 3: Hold on a second, don't I isn't it my turn?
- 31:09Speaker 1: No?
- 31:10Speaker 2: Doesn't he doesn't understand. Hedn't get a second. I picked
- 31:17Speaker 2: it between you and Bucky the whole time. Didn't last goodness,
- 31:20Speaker 2: gracious your first last first, that's yeah, that's it.
- 31:24Speaker 3: Yeah, he's I need I need a draft. Can you
- 31:27Speaker 3: get a draft track on.
- 31:28Speaker 1: The Hey, I don't I don't know. I don't know
- 31:35Speaker 1: if Drew can hear me? But can we just auto
- 31:37Speaker 1: draft him next week? Just just leave him out of
- 31:39Speaker 1: this segment?
- 31:40Speaker 2: Yeah, we put him on auto drafted.
- 31:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna go. I'm going Zay Flower second week in
- 31:45Speaker 1: a row. Uh, he was great last week. I mean, shoot,
- 31:48Speaker 1: he was you know, pooking. Naka ended up scoring the
- 31:49Speaker 1: most most points. He was right behind him, caught nine balls,
- 31:51Speaker 1: carried the ball a couple of times. He's going to
- 31:53Speaker 1: be the focal point, as Red said the other day,
- 31:56Speaker 1: with Mark Andrews in this offense. So Mark Andrews is
- 31:58Speaker 1: healthy and out there, I think you'll see, you know,
- 32:00Speaker 1: pretty even split there. But right now I am I'm
- 32:03Speaker 1: big on Za Flowers and what he can do bubble screens,
- 32:05Speaker 1: quick hitters, and then also what he showed Raut running
- 32:08Speaker 1: wise at the legit comeback. You watch that route and
- 32:10Speaker 1: you're like, Okay, this dude is uh he's got it.
- 32:12Speaker 1: So I've got I've got Anthony Richardson, now I've got
- 32:15Speaker 1: Za Flowers and rhtt. How this works is you get
- 32:18Speaker 1: to pick twice.
- 32:19Speaker 3: In case you didn't know, go ahead, Oh got you
- 32:22Speaker 3: of that, Thank you very much. All right, guys, you know.
- 32:25Speaker 4: What I think I'm gonna I'm gonna go back to
- 32:27Speaker 4: the well here, and I'm gonna keep my same choices
- 32:31Speaker 4: at quarterback and at receiver. Well, no, no, no, I'm not
- 32:34Speaker 4: gonna keep the same choice of receiver. I'm gonna keep
- 32:36Speaker 4: the same choice at quarterback. We're gonna go CEJ. Stroud here,
- 32:40Speaker 4: and I feel pretty good about that against this Colts defense.
- 32:43Speaker 4: I thought, I think I saw enough of what I
- 32:47Speaker 4: what we wanted to see from CJ to think he'll
- 32:49Speaker 4: get a little bit better each and every week. So
- 32:52Speaker 4: give me CJ. Stroud with my quarterback selection. And then
- 32:59Speaker 4: this week at wide receiver.
- 33:04Speaker 3: Oh boy, you know I could go tight end actually right,
- 33:10Speaker 3: because we can do that and you know, do.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Something different, do something different.
- 33:15Speaker 4: Yeah, you challenge if you're challenging me, If you're challenging me,
- 33:20Speaker 4: give me, uh give me Dalton k and Kate against
- 33:24Speaker 4: the Las Vegas Rangers this week. Give me Dalton kink
- 33:27Speaker 4: to help Josh Allen find some more high percentage completions
- 33:31Speaker 4: this week.
- 33:32Speaker 1: All right, there we go. I like that. All right,
- 33:34Speaker 1: my last pick, I got to get a running back
- 33:36Speaker 1: last week. I was very confident. I was very confident
- 33:39Speaker 1: in tank Bigsby out there. I said, Buck, you're going
- 33:42Speaker 1: to see it in person, and you're going to feel
- 33:44Speaker 1: so bad watching a guy on the team that you're
- 33:46Speaker 1: calling games for. Just run it up. And then I
- 33:49Speaker 1: fumbled and didn't run the ball very well. But he
- 33:51Speaker 1: did get in the end zone, so that was nice
- 33:52Speaker 1: to get an end zone once had a ball clank
- 33:54Speaker 1: off of his hands.
- 33:55Speaker 2: Uh.
- 33:56Speaker 1: It wasn't a great showing. So we're out of the
- 33:58Speaker 1: tank business for now. We're gonna get We're gonna put
- 33:59Speaker 1: him in. I'm out. Maybe we'll go back to him later,
- 34:02Speaker 1: but I'm gonna go to a guy I'm gonna see
- 34:04Speaker 1: in person for the Tennessee Titans and t J Spears,
- 34:08Speaker 1: a player who coming out of Kulane. Loved him, loved
- 34:11Speaker 1: his game. Remember that they did the medical and it's
- 34:13Speaker 1: like he didn't have an a c L. And it
- 34:15Speaker 1: was like, oh gosh, how how high can you take him?
- 34:17Speaker 1: How long is his career gonna last. But he looked
- 34:20Speaker 1: good last week. That's all I know. Uh, so I'll
- 34:22Speaker 1: go ahead and take him. Last week the Chargers struggled
- 34:24Speaker 1: against the pass. You got to figure, uh, the Titans
- 34:27Speaker 1: aren't going to try and throw it nearly as much
- 34:29Speaker 1: as the Dolphins are. They gonna co out trying and
- 34:30Speaker 1: run the rock. So I'll go with Spears.
- 34:33Speaker 2: But it's easy. So now I am just left to
- 34:35Speaker 2: pick one of the quarterbacks, and my options are C. J.
- 34:38Speaker 2: Stroud versus Bryce Young is going against yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 34:46Speaker 2: so I got I gotta, I gotta, I gotta go.
- 34:50Speaker 1: You only got one? Yeah, you're going bright?
- 34:53Speaker 2: What happened?
- 34:57Speaker 3: What's going on around?
- 34:59Speaker 2: She was talking to so much I could he was
- 35:00Speaker 2: talking so he was talking so much I couldn't pay attention.
- 35:03Speaker 2: He was doing a dissertation on all the guys, and
- 35:06Speaker 2: I lost focus. My ad d Kickdan.
- 35:08Speaker 3: So I so you got brace.
- 35:14Speaker 1: O, Oh my gosh. Next week, I'm auto drafting both
- 35:18Speaker 1: of you guys. I'm gonna have Bucky's dog make his pick.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Next week.
- 35:22Speaker 1: You're to make your pick either.
- 35:25Speaker 2: What are we doing?
- 35:26Speaker 1: Come on, all right, that's it. That's see what this
- 35:30Speaker 1: board looks like, Wow, look at that. See I've got
- 35:35Speaker 1: them pitted against each other. I'm gonna cruise the victory
- 35:37Speaker 1: this week. All right, there you have it. There is
- 35:39Speaker 1: our Week two rookie Draft. A debacle is what it was.
- 35:44Speaker 1: But we did get it finished.
- 35:45Speaker 2: All right.
- 35:45Speaker 1: That's gonna do it for us today. I appreciate you
- 35:47Speaker 1: guys hanging with us. Stay tuned tomorrow again Move the
- 35:50Speaker 1: Sticks five days a week. Tomorrow, on the episode, we

- 35:56Speaker 1: Is this something we're gonna see all year long? What
- 35:58Speaker 1: makes them tick? What makes them special show? As well
- 36:00Speaker 1: as a look at a defensive edge rusher who had
- 36:03Speaker 1: a dominant Week one. We'll dig into that as well,
- 36:06Speaker 1: So be on the lookout for that tomorrow. We'll see
- 36:08Speaker 1: you right here on Move the Sticks
