- 0:00Speaker 1: When we were cut off, Lass, I might we just
- 0:02Speaker 1: started talking about your trilogy. You revisited Seffle to your album,
- 0:05Speaker 1: so I want to continue with that, but specifically your
- 0:08Speaker 1: mindset going into each album, Like did you try to
- 0:10Speaker 1: take yourself back in time when the albums were first
- 0:13Speaker 1: conceived or did you approach you with more of a
- 0:15Speaker 1: clear head, more more of.
- 0:18Speaker 2: A clean head, kind of like like a chance to
- 0:21Speaker 2: do it again, but do it better, you know, kind
- 0:25Speaker 2: of like not really fix the mistakes, because I think
- 0:29Speaker 2: the mistakes were kind of cool, but make the make
- 0:32Speaker 2: this stuff sound better. We had a chance to have
- 0:34Speaker 2: better guitar, better drum sound, uh you know, a better studio,
- 0:41Speaker 2: surrounded by knowledgeable metal people that knows how to record
- 0:45Speaker 2: this stuff. None of those things were available when we
- 0:48Speaker 2: made those records in Brazil. We were on our own,
- 0:51Speaker 2: you know, like the engineers didn't know what you do
- 0:54Speaker 2: and it was like no man's land making these records
- 0:58Speaker 2: in Brazil. So we had a chance to redo them
- 1:01Speaker 2: and redo them the way we envision them to sound.
- 1:06Speaker 2: So the re recordings is the way we as musicians
- 1:11Speaker 2: think they should sound. Like the re recordings, you know,
- 1:14Speaker 2: that's the proper way that we envisioned those songs even
- 1:17Speaker 2: as the kids we were hoping to get what we
- 1:21Speaker 2: The sound that we got on the rerecording is, this
- 1:23Speaker 2: is what we are shooting for in the first place.
- 1:26Speaker 2: So it's really cool that we get the chance to
- 1:28Speaker 2: do that. A lot of bands don't get don't have
- 1:31Speaker 2: the chance, don't try it, or they try and they fail,
- 1:35Speaker 2: like they don't keep the energy and the angry, the
- 1:41Speaker 2: anger of the original. You know, we kept all that
- 1:44Speaker 2: in check. We make sure stays pissed. It's full of
- 1:49Speaker 2: piece and vinegarar, you know, all the way through. So
- 1:53Speaker 2: I think that's why a lot of people love the
- 1:55Speaker 2: re recordings. Man, the people really really the fans freaking
- 1:59Speaker 2: love the recordings, and it's really well receiver around the world.
- 2:02Speaker 2: You know.
- 2:04Speaker 1: We actually just sort of this time, like you've gone
- 2:06Speaker 1: back and you've readone it now, like with like you said,
- 2:08Speaker 1: you betty guitars knowing what you're doing and stuff like that.
- 2:10Speaker 1: But do you think back then, if you had it
- 2:13Speaker 1: gone into it polished, you think the albums would have
- 2:15Speaker 1: been as well received. Like there's that rawness that paid
- 2:18Speaker 1: the detracted paper, wasn't it.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean a lot of this stuff. We we
- 2:24Speaker 2: didn't have any there was not never had a manual
- 2:29Speaker 2: how to do this stuff. We did it on a fly,
- 2:31Speaker 2: you know, we did it it really kind of like
- 2:35Speaker 2: uh they call it, you're gonna wing it, you know,
- 2:38Speaker 2: You're just gonna do it by trial and airhor you
- 2:43Speaker 2: know so. And that's the beauty of these records. They
- 2:47Speaker 2: were full of stuff that really comes out of nowhere.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Like what I was thinking when I made this, Really,
- 2:53Speaker 2: this riff is crazy, you know, what the hell? What
- 2:56Speaker 2: the hell was I thinking? But it's beautiful, man, it's cool.
- 3:01Speaker 2: It shows that even at the age of fourteen fifteen,
- 3:06Speaker 2: I had that metal in my vein, you know, I
- 3:08Speaker 2: had that I had the wild you know, metal flowing
- 3:12Speaker 2: through my blood, and you know, I just went for it.
- 3:17Speaker 2: And now I have a chance to revisit as an
- 3:20Speaker 2: older person and still get the same enjoyment from these
- 3:25Speaker 2: albums that I got it when I was a kid.
- 3:27Speaker 2: It's an incredible feeling you get to do this. I
- 3:31Speaker 2: feel very fortunate me and my brother we are able to,
- 3:37Speaker 2: you know, like celebrate our past through these albums and
- 3:41Speaker 2: get you play them live for people. It's incredible feeling.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I was speaking of probably live mate. Like you mentioned
- 3:47Speaker 1: last time that you played a lot of material from
- 3:49Speaker 1: those three albums, but you also doing other sepulchery songs
- 3:53Speaker 1: brought through to the to the current couple of ear stuff.
- 3:55Speaker 1: So in fact, you're like you're traveling through a sonic
- 3:58Speaker 1: time machine every time you get on, like doesver overwhelm here?
- 4:02Speaker 1: Like just all come I with you once the motion
- 4:06Speaker 1: of it.
- 4:08Speaker 2: It's great, it's a it's such a cool thing. Man.
- 4:10Speaker 2: I don't know how to even not to explain to
- 4:12Speaker 2: people because a lot of times I'm on the stage
- 4:16Speaker 2: and I'm having flashbacks of my life as a kid.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I remember times in Brazil when I was playing this
- 4:23Speaker 2: ship when I was fifteen, and how I felt when
- 4:26Speaker 2: I was fifteen playing this stuff, And you get all
- 4:30Speaker 2: these flashbacks mixed with nostalgia and then mix with the
- 4:35Speaker 2: moment that you're in because you have a whole new
- 4:39Speaker 2: generation of fans. There are new now, they were not
- 4:43Speaker 2: really there in the eighties when we created this thing.
- 4:48Speaker 2: All of those all of those feelings are incredible. It's like,
- 4:51Speaker 2: it's like it's such a cool thing to experience that.
- 4:56Speaker 2: It's like, but you're right, it is a bit like
- 4:59Speaker 2: going in a time and like, uh, this is as
- 5:03Speaker 2: close as you're gonna get to nineteen eighty three man,
- 5:06Speaker 2: You know, as if you want to, if you want to,
- 5:09Speaker 2: like imagine how was how would it nineteen eighty if
- 5:12Speaker 2: you must have felt like this, this Third Word Trilogy
- 5:16Speaker 2: show is the closest thing you're gonna get to that. Yeah.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Now, the other main difference with that this Rob Brown
- 5:22Speaker 1: team and is he got your your son Ego with
- 5:24Speaker 1: you and it was on the albums with you as well,
- 5:26Speaker 1: Like watching him do that stuff might like does he
- 5:30Speaker 1: ever remind you yourself at that age.
- 5:33Speaker 2: A lot a lot, especially live, because it brings that energy,
- 5:41Speaker 2: the kind of like just pure adrenaline and youth energy,
- 5:45Speaker 2: you know, just kind of like just going for it.
- 5:49Speaker 2: And that's the figure. That's what's cool about playing with
- 5:51Speaker 2: Ego and Travis. They are the new blood. You know,
- 5:55Speaker 2: they are more in They're more connected to the new
- 5:58Speaker 2: bands right now, specially in the underground. You know. They
- 6:01Speaker 2: they are you know, friends with everybody from Goatiah to
- 6:07Speaker 2: like uh Noise and Pig Destroyer And I get you,
- 6:15Speaker 2: I get you to be part of that through them,
- 6:17Speaker 2: you know, I get you. I get you still be
- 6:19Speaker 2: influenced by metal that's been done right now, by newer
- 6:23Speaker 2: bands from from my son, from Travis, and it's so
- 6:28Speaker 2: it's cool. So we got you know, you got the
- 6:29Speaker 2: old farts, you got me an Igor, you know, the
- 6:32Speaker 2: older guys in the band, but we also get the
- 6:36Speaker 2: new guys. But we also interact with them. You know.
- 6:39Speaker 2: It's not like we don't know nothing about metal. We
- 6:42Speaker 2: we I know a lot of these new bands. I
- 6:44Speaker 2: actually like I follow the underground, you know, so I'm
- 6:47Speaker 2: a big fan of extreme music. So it's fun. It's
- 6:51Speaker 2: really fun. And I think I think the Bankcike's ass
- 6:54Speaker 2: totally like is a total like everybody goes it gives
- 6:58Speaker 2: one hundred and ten percent Renee And I tell you,
- 7:02Speaker 2: after every short I'm exhausted, Like I'm all the exhausted,
- 7:07Speaker 2: and then we've got to do it all over again
- 7:08Speaker 2: next day. But it's great. It's a great feeling.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Yeah, Before I let you go, Max, I've started a
- 7:13Speaker 1: new segment called photo Bomb, where before I talk you,
- 7:16Speaker 1: I go through your social media. I get a couple
- 7:18Speaker 1: of photos that I want to know a little bit
- 7:20Speaker 1: more about. So first one I want to talk about.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Yeah, so your.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Whole career, mate, You've be known like wearing the right
- 7:33Speaker 1: the stubs on stage and all your rocket starts and
- 7:35Speaker 1: all that subbit that looks dangerous as Helme made. I
- 7:37Speaker 1: just want to know if you've ever actually done yourself
- 7:40Speaker 1: a mischief on stage while you're excited. And I only
- 7:42Speaker 1: ask because this guy here is a friend of mine, Tracass.
- 7:47Speaker 1: He's not with us anymore, but he's got something similar
- 7:49Speaker 1: and he ended up like that.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Every night he got.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Off stage from his own spikes, he'd cut the shit
- 7:53Speaker 1: out of himself. Like, have you ever done anything like that?
- 7:57Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, I mean like a couple of times, you know,
- 8:01Speaker 2: the spikes you can hit each other, you know. I
- 8:03Speaker 2: think I got hit. I think I got Travis bump
- 8:07Speaker 2: into me, and I got I got cut with one
- 8:09Speaker 2: of his spikes in one of the shows. But it's
- 8:11Speaker 2: all good, man, it's fun. It's all part of the metal.
- 8:16Speaker 1: And the other one playing an instrument that I've never
- 8:19Speaker 1: seen before, mate, So can you let us know what
- 8:23Speaker 1: are you playing there?
- 8:24Speaker 2: Yeah? So that's the beering bow. That's a Brazilian instrument. Yeah,
- 8:29Speaker 2: it's called beering bao. It's very famous in Brazil, all.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Right, what what do you use that in certain songs?
- 8:36Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, a lot of it, you know. I use
- 8:38Speaker 2: it on Roots, I use on soa Fly, the whole,
- 8:41Speaker 2: every Algo, every soul Fly record has a song with it.
- 8:45Speaker 2: It has only one string and it sounds very tribal.
- 8:48Speaker 1: It's just bloody big because twice your size.
- 8:51Speaker 2: It looks like a bow and arrow.
