- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. Play fake, go to roll right, dumps it
- 0:07Speaker 1: off into the right flask to Michael Bumpers, who bounces
- 0:09Speaker 1: off a one tackler gets to him side the forty
- 0:11Speaker 1: down of the thirty five yard line.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Matt pumpfake's looking at the gold line. He throws it
- 0:17Speaker 1: into the end zone. Touchdown, Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpers
- 0:21Speaker 1: with a diving catching the end zone. A ten yard
- 0:24Speaker 1: touchdown reception for Bumpers, and the kid out of Washington
- 0:27Speaker 1: State has found himself a place on this team.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Now here's your host, Nasa Choviie.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk. The Seahawks getting
- 0:38Speaker 3: ready to take on the New England Patriots down there
- 0:41Speaker 3: in Foxborough, coming off an electric win at Lumenfield over
- 0:45Speaker 3: the Denver Broncos in week one.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Bump it was fun. I missed you. I missed you earlier.
- 0:50Speaker 1: This week, I do by myself.
- 0:51Speaker 4: How was that? How was that?
- 0:53Speaker 1: It was awkward? I did not like it.
- 0:54Speaker 4: You just talked a lot.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I talked the entire time. How was in this room?
- 0:57Speaker 1: By myself? Trying to look at the camera, trying to
- 0:59Speaker 1: look up and down.
- 1:00Speaker 3: I'm sure it was fired though, I mean, I hope,
- 1:02Speaker 3: so listeners, let me know, be nice. You know, I
- 1:04Speaker 3: try to do the wait for both of us. But
- 1:06Speaker 3: you know what, I got you back today. Let's get
- 1:08Speaker 3: it awful win too, baby. This team is flying high.
- 1:12Speaker 3: It should be really fun. Let's get into these New
- 1:14Speaker 3: England Patriots.
- 1:15Speaker 1: What's on tap? What's on tap? Big win in the
- 1:22Speaker 1: week one. But I'm not gonna lie to you.
- 1:24Speaker 3: When I saw everything that's happened in New England this offseason,
- 1:27Speaker 3: you know, obviously similar. I guess people could think about
- 1:29Speaker 3: the Seahawks, right, do you move on from an legendary coach,
- 1:32Speaker 3: one of the best to ever do in Bill Belichick
- 1:34Speaker 3: drawed Mayo steps up as a new head coach. Tom
- 1:37Speaker 3: Brady's gone, been gone. They move on from Daniel Jones.
- 1:41Speaker 3: But boy did they come out and play some good
- 1:42Speaker 3: football against these Bengals.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Man, Man, they look good. I was surprised.
- 1:46Speaker 5: I saw the score, and I thought Joe Burrow in
- 1:48Speaker 5: the squad, what was going to tear them up?
- 1:49Speaker 4: But nah, it was a different story.
- 1:51Speaker 3: No. I definitely had a lost down when I was
- 1:53Speaker 3: looking at the schedule beforehand, but they beat the Bengals
- 1:55Speaker 3: on the road sixteen to ten. Kicking off, Like I said,
- 1:58Speaker 3: the drawd Mayo era, they were a seven and a
- 2:01Speaker 3: half point underdogs. Not that we're into the gambling side
- 2:04Speaker 3: of things, but ESPN Stassin Info says that's the biggest
- 2:07Speaker 3: upsets in twenty eighteen in Week one.
- 2:09Speaker 1: So that was pretty crazy. So let's jump into that game.
- 2:12Speaker 3: You got Jacoby Brissette right bump, so he wins the
- 2:14Speaker 3: starting job over Drake May and I don't know if
- 2:17Speaker 3: it's one because I don't know if it was a
- 2:18Speaker 3: real competition. I think they wanted Bersett to come in
- 2:20Speaker 3: there and be the veteran guy and let Drake May
- 2:22Speaker 3: learn behind, you know, a not veteran offensive line that's
- 2:27Speaker 3: a little younger, it could be a little banged.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Up, but he came out there and got the job done.
- 2:30Speaker 3: He went fifteen to twenty four, one hundred and twenty
- 2:32Speaker 3: four yards, no touchdowns, but did not turn the ball over.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Also carried the ball seven times for thirty two yards.
- 2:39Speaker 3: But the big help to the Patriots offense, it's gonna
- 2:41Speaker 3: be Ormandre Stevenson.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Man.
- 2:43Speaker 4: That boy runs hard. He looked good, man, he looked good.
- 2:46Speaker 3: I mean one hundred twenty yards on twenty five carries,
- 2:49Speaker 3: one touchdown and Jen Mueller shout out to jam Mueller.
- 2:51Speaker 3: She had a stat earlier that he had about one
- 2:53Speaker 3: hundred and I think it was one hundred and fifteen
- 2:55Speaker 3: or so yards after contact, Like, excuse me, I'm sorry
- 2:58Speaker 3: what There was.
- 2:59Speaker 5: A play he made in the backfield. It was his
- 3:01Speaker 5: zone left. As soon as he gets the football, the
- 3:03Speaker 5: end is already crashed down. He spins off of them,
- 3:05Speaker 5: has a defender in front of him, shakes him, and
- 3:07Speaker 5: then picks up seven eight yards.
- 3:09Speaker 4: I go, yeah, this man's healthy. He's really he's ready
- 3:11Speaker 4: to go.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Yeah, we're gonna get into him when we get into
- 3:13Speaker 3: man up. But he had a big day and he
- 3:15Speaker 3: really helped this offense go out and the Bengals, I'm
- 3:18Speaker 3: not gonna lie there, simply bad on offense in the
- 3:19Speaker 3: first half, couldn't get anything going, and for most of
- 3:22Speaker 3: the second half, Cincinnati went three and out on his
- 3:24Speaker 3: first three possessions, and Joe Burrow eventually moved the Bengals
- 3:28Speaker 3: into the red zone in the second quarter, but came
- 3:29Speaker 3: away with nothing. They turned the ball over there in
- 3:31Speaker 3: the red zone. Second half, Cincinnati's Charlie Jones fumbled away
- 3:34Speaker 3: at punt, which led to a Patriots field goal, and
- 3:37Speaker 3: the Bengals came up a yard short on fourth down
- 3:39Speaker 3: and turned the ball over on downs. Cincinnati finally got
- 3:42Speaker 3: into the end zone near the end of the third
- 3:44Speaker 3: quarter on a Zach Muff's five yard run. Evan McPherson's
- 3:47Speaker 3: fifty one yard field goal cut the New England's lead
- 3:50Speaker 3: sixteen to ten, and that's where it would stay. Bengals
- 3:52Speaker 3: get the ball back with two fifty six left and
- 3:54Speaker 3: don't get the first down, elected to punt. Stevenson then
- 3:58Speaker 3: runs out the clock with two first downs and they
- 3:59Speaker 3: get the job done. Jamar Chase ended up playing. There's
- 4:02Speaker 3: a big hubove about if he was gonna go or not.
- 4:04Speaker 3: He did play, didn't really do much.
- 4:06Speaker 5: Should have been a practice, Yeah, yeah, he should have
- 4:10Speaker 5: been a practic.
- 4:10Speaker 4: I'm just playing. Jamal may get your money. I'm just playing.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Six receptions sixty two yards. And then Keon White, We're
- 4:16Speaker 3: gonna talk about him a lot. He brought the pressure defensively,
- 4:18Speaker 3: two and a half sacks, three QB hits. Most people
- 4:21Speaker 3: thought these Patriots would not be a great football team, Bump,
- 4:23Speaker 3: But yeah, had your boy reconsidering.
- 4:27Speaker 5: It's when everything's new, right, you don't know what you're
- 4:31Speaker 5: gonna get in week one. I tell you it will
- 4:33Speaker 5: allow to you. It'll tell you some truth. So you're trying,
- 4:35Speaker 5: you're trying to take what's real and what's not. But
- 4:37Speaker 5: what is real is that you knew that when Mayo
- 4:40Speaker 5: was was hired he was gonna keep some of that Belichick.
- 4:43Speaker 5: We'll bring in some of that new and I think
- 4:45Speaker 5: that's what we're seeing, that's where we're feeling. But he's gone.
- 4:47Speaker 5: He might face some adversity this week, so I count
- 4:50Speaker 5: on it.
- 4:50Speaker 3: We'll just let's get in the head head, Bump, what
- 4:53Speaker 3: do you see out of I know they head to head.
- 4:55Speaker 1: This is a big part of our feature. We like
- 4:56Speaker 1: to look how the team stack up.
- 4:58Speaker 3: It's really hard after week one, so oh and week
- 5:00Speaker 3: go through this that we know it's only been one week,
- 5:02Speaker 3: but it's still important. Kind of shows what happened last week. So, Bump,
- 5:05Speaker 3: what stands out to you?
- 5:06Speaker 1: Now?
- 5:06Speaker 5: I'm gonna start on defense because it's a top ten
- 5:07Speaker 5: defense in the league right now. Hey, hey, after week one,
- 5:10Speaker 5: I'm sorry, Top ten defense in the league right now,
- 5:13Speaker 5: six overall, giving up tw hundred and thirty one yards
- 5:15Speaker 5: a game.
- 5:15Speaker 4: One game I'm talking about.
- 5:16Speaker 5: The Seahawks gave up ninety nine yards in the run
- 5:19Speaker 5: last week, won thirty three through the air, and allow
- 5:22Speaker 5: twenty points. The Patriots defense top five defense of the
- 5:25Speaker 5: league after one week, gave up two hundred and twenty
- 5:27Speaker 5: four yards seventy on the ground, one fifty four through
- 5:31Speaker 5: the air, and gave up ten points. That's gonna be
- 5:34Speaker 5: tough again. They'll be tested this week. Let's go to
- 5:36Speaker 5: the offensive side. The Seahawks three hundred and four yards overall,
- 5:39Speaker 5: one forty six on the ground, one to fifty eight pass,
- 5:42Speaker 5: and I expect that number to go up a little
- 5:43Speaker 5: bit when you make some adjustments. The Patriots two to
- 5:46Speaker 5: ninety overall or two ninety average last week had two
- 5:49Speaker 5: hundred ninety yards nineteenth overall, one hundred and seventy on
- 5:53Speaker 5: the ground. That's gonna be a big one, one twenty
- 5:55Speaker 5: through the air, and gave up sixteen points.
- 5:58Speaker 4: We do this, we gotta do it every week.
- 6:00Speaker 5: Right around Week four, I think is when it's like, Okay,
- 6:03Speaker 5: we have a clear picture of who this team is
- 6:05Speaker 5: but watching both teams, I can say that defensively the
- 6:09Speaker 5: Hawks are so much better than they were last year.
- 6:11Speaker 5: And defensively the Pages are a dang good team too.
- 6:13Speaker 5: They're disciplined, they run around, they tackle. It should be good.
- 6:17Speaker 5: The numbers are gonna change throughout the throughout the few weeks,
- 6:20Speaker 5: but both these teams are good defensively.
- 6:22Speaker 3: You had no question about it between Drod Mayo and
- 6:24Speaker 3: Mike McDonald, both first time head coaches, and their defenses
- 6:28Speaker 3: look like they looked the part. Everything I've heard anyone
- 6:31Speaker 3: talking about Gerard when he was a player, he was
- 6:33Speaker 3: that dude.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Knew every alignment, knewhere everyone was supposed to line up.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Every single call, he was getting other people lined up,
- 6:39Speaker 3: calling out what the offense was doing. So it's not
- 6:41Speaker 3: a surprise that he has the defensive side of the ball.
- 6:43Speaker 5: Said, he's Robert Kraft stepson. That's how tity was with
- 6:45Speaker 5: the organization, you know. So he's in there.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Yes, he is in there, and his defense is looking good.
- 6:50Speaker 3: But as we do every week, I like to know
- 6:52Speaker 3: the history, what happened the last time these two teams played.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Let's know the history. No, your history.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Seahawks lead the all time series between the two teams
- 7:02Speaker 3: ten to nine in the regular season, zero to one
- 7:04Speaker 3: in the postseason, But who cares about that one. It's
- 7:06Speaker 3: gonna blow past that one. Hawks have won three of
- 7:10Speaker 3: the last regular season meetings. The last meeting bump came
- 7:13Speaker 3: down to a thriller at lumen Field in twenty twenty
- 7:17Speaker 3: Soup take everyone behind.
- 7:19Speaker 1: The curtain a little bit. It was weird.
- 7:21Speaker 3: It was a weird time because there was no fans
- 7:24Speaker 3: and I mean we were among what one hundred people
- 7:26Speaker 3: in the building other than teams.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 7:28Speaker 4: We had a nice suite in the corner.
- 7:30Speaker 5: This is the one time we could actually react to
- 7:33Speaker 5: what's going on because typically you're in the box with
- 7:36Speaker 5: Raves and Wineman. I'm in the press boxing and you're
- 7:38Speaker 5: not supposed to react. It's supposed to be professional. All
- 7:41Speaker 5: We was acting a food that year because we're in
- 7:43Speaker 5: a suite all by ourselves, we were fans. We could
- 7:45Speaker 5: hear the players right cheering and celebrating, so so it
- 7:49Speaker 5: was it was a weird setting. But we were also
- 7:51Speaker 5: one of the lucky ones to still see this game live.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Yeah, it was it was eerie feeling.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Then that entire COVID season, but man lots changed since
- 7:59Speaker 3: then for real. But during that game it was a shootout,
- 8:02Speaker 3: back and forth. Nine drives ended up in touchdowns for
- 8:04Speaker 3: both teams. Things started off pretty brutal though for the Seahawks.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Russell Wilson, looking for his boy greg Olsen, right through
- 8:11Speaker 3: his hands, picked off I.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Devin mccordy ran back forty three yard touchdown.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Hawks would answer right back with a thirteen play seventy
- 8:17Speaker 3: five yard drive, ending with a four yard touchdown pass
- 8:20Speaker 3: to Tyler Lockett. And this just went back and forth.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Ain't nobody was getting no stops. Cam Newton was leading
- 8:25Speaker 3: the Patriots. He came back nine plays, seventy nine yard drive,
- 8:28Speaker 3: took him all the way down to the one yard line.
- 8:31Speaker 3: And this what the game came down to. Thirty five
- 8:33Speaker 3: thirty Seahawks leading balls at the one yard line and
- 8:36Speaker 3: they need to keep him out of the end zone.
- 8:38Speaker 3: And on the last play of the game, Cam Newton,
- 8:40Speaker 3: mind you, was balling out that game. They already rushed
- 8:42Speaker 3: for a couple of touchdowns. Takes a ball off left
- 8:44Speaker 3: tackle and gets stopped at the goal line by none
- 8:48Speaker 3: other than LJ.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Collier.
- 8:50Speaker 4: TCU stand up, Yes, TCU.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Now definitely his best moment as a Seattle Seahawk. You know,
- 8:57Speaker 3: LJ is super nice dude. I love my interactions with him.
- 9:00Speaker 3: It didn't work out for him in Seattle, obviously, but
- 9:02Speaker 3: that was a huge time play won the game. Actually,
- 9:04Speaker 3: I don't know if you know this bump when you're
- 9:06Speaker 3: walking from the press box to the broadcast booth.
- 9:08Speaker 1: It's one of the photos on the wall.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Oh is it?
- 9:10Speaker 1: Look at it. Next time you'll see it. LJ lives,
- 9:13Speaker 1: LJ lives on forever.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Huge play, Seahawks win, and like I said, that was
- 9:16Speaker 3: the last time Cam Newton was really playing at that level.
- 9:19Speaker 3: He finished that day with three hundred ninety seven pass yards,
- 9:21Speaker 3: which is the third most he'd ever thrown four in
- 9:23Speaker 3: his career thirty forty four to four. Oh my goodness, sorry,
- 9:28Speaker 3: I messed up. Three hundred ninety seven yards, one touchdown,
- 9:31Speaker 3: one pick. He also had forty seven yards on eleven
- 9:33Speaker 3: carries and two touchdowns. And this was also during the
- 9:36Speaker 3: Russ Cook phase. Wherever you want to call it. He
- 9:38Speaker 3: was twenty one to twenty. It was called, you know,
- 9:40Speaker 3: let Russ Cook.
- 9:41Speaker 4: That was the era.
- 9:42Speaker 1: That's what other people were saying.
- 9:44Speaker 3: We were anyway, he was cooking at the beginning of
- 9:46Speaker 3: the year twenty one for twenty eight two hundred and
- 9:48Speaker 3: eighty eight yards, five touchdowns to five different receivers DK Tyler, Lockett,
- 9:52Speaker 3: Demo Swag, Chris Carson, man I Miss Chris, and Freddy
- 9:56Speaker 3: swayin Thig's Freddy. And on defense, it's hard to remember
- 10:00Speaker 3: for a lot of Sea Off fans, but Jamal Adams
- 10:01Speaker 3: balling out. He had nine tackles, one sack, one TfL
- 10:04Speaker 3: and two QB hits. And unfortunately this was a game
- 10:07Speaker 3: where Marquise Blair tore his ACL when he was our
- 10:10Speaker 3: starting nickel and that kind of changed the directory of
- 10:12Speaker 3: his career. So he's back on the squad now. Was
- 10:14Speaker 3: elevated last weekend. It'd be cool for him to have
- 10:16Speaker 3: kind of a full circle moment, so hopefully he can
- 10:18Speaker 3: get out there and knock some people around on special teams.
- 10:21Speaker 3: But bump man event for a week in the NFC West,
- 10:24Speaker 3: Let's find out what's the word?
- 10:30Speaker 4: And the Seahawks are the NFC West champs again.
- 10:33Speaker 1: What's the word? In the west On Hawk Talk?
- 10:37Speaker 4: What's the word? The Seahawks are undefeated?
- 10:40Speaker 5: Yep, the Niners are undefeated and the Rams and the
- 10:43Speaker 5: Cardinals both took a l mean, it was crazy in
- 10:46Speaker 5: the NFC West. I mean, the Rams and Cardinals both
- 10:48Speaker 5: took We'll talk about the specifics, but it was close
- 10:50Speaker 5: for them. But let's focus on the Cardinals and the
- 10:52Speaker 5: Bills to start this thing. Man, it was a surprising game.
- 10:55Speaker 5: Like just like I looked at the New England game
- 10:57Speaker 5: and the Bengals score, and I got, what's going on there, typo,
- 10:59Speaker 5: ESPN fixture your score.
- 11:01Speaker 4: That's the way I looked at the Cardinals.
- 11:02Speaker 5: Man, we didn't expect this because the Bills they don't
- 11:05Speaker 5: have Stefan Diggs anymore. The Cardinals have a second year
- 11:08Speaker 5: head coach and gan him. They got Marvin Harrison. He
- 11:11Speaker 5: didn't really eat that much, but there were I felt
- 11:14Speaker 5: them going to Buffalo was just gonna be the Bills
- 11:17Speaker 5: doing what the Bills does.
- 11:18Speaker 4: But that's not the way it all worked out. Man.
- 11:21Speaker 5: The first half, it was seventeen to three. James Connor
- 11:23Speaker 5: had himself a touchdown run. He's coming off a good year,
- 11:25Speaker 5: first thousand yard season last year. But the Bills they
- 11:28Speaker 5: woke up all right. Second half, they said, we're not
- 11:30Speaker 5: playing with y'all no more. They go seven plays seventy yards.
- 11:32Speaker 5: Josh Allen scores a touchdown, making the score seventeen to
- 11:36Speaker 5: ten at the half. I'm sorry going in it was
- 11:37Speaker 5: seventeen thirteen. After half it was seventeen to ten. All right,
- 11:41Speaker 5: and the third quarter the Bills added two touchdowns. Then
- 11:44Speaker 5: a familiar face, former Seahawks running back DJ Dallas, takes
- 11:48Speaker 5: one to the house ninety six yards.
- 11:52Speaker 4: I was happy for all man. DJ dj is such
- 11:54Speaker 4: a good dude.
- 11:55Speaker 5: Man did everything he needed to do here for the Seahawks.
- 11:58Speaker 5: All I always happy for him to see that. The
- 12:00Speaker 5: Bills they sealed the DELA with a field goal to
- 12:02Speaker 5: win the game thirty four to twenty four. Kyler Murray
- 12:06Speaker 5: had an OKDA twenty one to thirty one, one sixty two,
- 12:08Speaker 5: one touchdown and one fumble loss. He had a fifty
- 12:11Speaker 5: seven rushing yards that led the team. He's got to
- 12:13Speaker 5: switch out up. James Conner is going to have to
- 12:15Speaker 5: step up a little bit. Designed some plays for him.
- 12:17Speaker 5: Marvin Harrison just had one reception for four yards. Been
- 12:20Speaker 5: a lot of drama with Mark Harrison going into the
- 12:23Speaker 5: season and then that first game got a few targets
- 12:26Speaker 5: one reception, But I liked his response. He was like, look,
- 12:29Speaker 5: I just got to get open and do my job.
- 12:30Speaker 5: Perfect response for a rookie. On the other side, Josh
- 12:34Speaker 5: Allen was eighteen of twenty three two hundred and thirty
- 12:36Speaker 5: two yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions, carried throughout nine times
- 12:39Speaker 5: for thirty nine yards and two touchdowns. That's what he does.
- 12:43Speaker 5: He accounted for the most touchdowns of the league last year.
- 12:45Speaker 5: Josh Allen when you can buy him the pass and
- 12:47Speaker 5: the run, so that's what we expect out of him. Man,
- 12:50Speaker 5: despite sixty two points being scored, no receiver had more
- 12:53Speaker 5: than fifty one yards.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Goodness, gracious, I'm a receiver. That'll make me feel good.
- 13:00Speaker 4: He was involved. Okay, can we do something please?
- 13:02Speaker 1: Man?
- 13:02Speaker 3: Well, two things for one, Josh Allen's always going to
- 13:05Speaker 3: be in an MVP conversation as I don't care who's
- 13:07Speaker 3: throwing the ball to.
- 13:08Speaker 1: That's he's that talented. For them.
- 13:11Speaker 3: It sucks for them because no matter what they do
- 13:12Speaker 3: in the regular season, it's not gonna matter till January February.
- 13:15Speaker 1: That's just kind of what the standard is that they've
- 13:17Speaker 1: said out.
- 13:17Speaker 4: That's nice, saw that I have that standard.
- 13:19Speaker 5: Though you know, we're gonna get through the regular season,
- 13:21Speaker 5: but you got to win the big one.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Well, it's a good standard to set. That's what's going
- 13:25Speaker 3: to happen here pretty soon. I believe we're going to
- 13:27Speaker 3: get that big one then. But the Cardinals bump. I
- 13:30Speaker 3: have no idea what to think about them, and we've
- 13:32Speaker 3: kind of had this conversation about them for every year.
- 13:34Speaker 3: It's kind of hard to see, even when they had
- 13:36Speaker 3: Cliff Kingsbury as their head coach, and even till now,
- 13:39Speaker 3: they have some talented people on the roster.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Kler Murray is a doll. James Connor can play, but
- 13:44Speaker 1: this gave me a little pause.
- 13:45Speaker 3: They go, Okay, maybe they are better than I thought
- 13:47Speaker 3: they would be after one week doing that on the road.
- 13:49Speaker 3: So we'll definitely see the Seahawks don't play the Cardinals
- 13:52Speaker 3: so late and later in the year. I think we
- 13:53Speaker 3: play him in November. Is the first time so.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Fooping over to the Rams.
- 13:57Speaker 3: They went over to the Lions on Sunday Night Football,
- 13:59Speaker 3: and this is a rematch of the card playoffs from
- 14:01Speaker 3: last season. Matthew Stafford returning to Detroit a second time.
- 14:05Speaker 3: I still think it's messed up how people be booming
- 14:06Speaker 3: Matthew Stafford. Man, that's crazy to me.
- 14:09Speaker 5: He did so much stuff there ten years there, and
- 14:12Speaker 5: y'all gave him nothing to work with. HM one of
- 14:14Speaker 5: the greatest receivers of all time. But you need more
- 14:17Speaker 5: than that. Man showed that got some love, man.
- 14:19Speaker 3: No, But anyway, this game again, another team, the Rams.
- 14:22Speaker 3: I'm not exactly sure where they're going to be at.
- 14:24Speaker 3: We know they're well coached, we know Matthew Stafford's there,
- 14:26Speaker 3: Cooper Cup, Hooka and Nicola, they got dudes. Aaron Donald's gone,
- 14:29Speaker 3: but they still got a lot of players there. So
- 14:31Speaker 3: this game kind of went back and forth, went into overtime.
- 14:33Speaker 3: The Rams battle back from a seventeen to three deficit,
- 14:36Speaker 3: scored seventeen unanswered the Lions with kick a field go
- 14:39Speaker 3: out the end of regulation to force overtime. Stafford showed
- 14:42Speaker 3: to me, Bump that he can still sing it some
- 14:44Speaker 3: of those arm angles and some of the things he
- 14:45Speaker 3: can do.
- 14:46Speaker 1: He can still play.
- 14:47Speaker 3: He went thirty four forty nine for three hundred and
- 14:49Speaker 3: seventeen yards, one touchdown, one interception, and Cooper Cup back
- 14:53Speaker 3: to doing Cooper Cup things. We talk about this boy
- 14:56Speaker 3: every single week. In this segment prior to Eastern Washington,
- 14:59Speaker 3: had fourteen or receptions one hundred and ten yards, one touchdown.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Fourteen receptions ties a career high, but Bump the biggest
- 15:06Speaker 3: blow was the other.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Receiver who merged last year.
- 15:08Speaker 3: But Pooka and a cool rookie sensation left the game
- 15:11Speaker 3: with a knee injury and is now on the rir
- 15:13Speaker 3: will miss at least four games, So we'll see what
- 15:16Speaker 3: happens there. Really tough to see the rookie out, but man,
- 15:19Speaker 3: he's a guy that you don't want to play against.
- 15:21Speaker 5: So hey, Coop, gotta do what uh what uh Pooka
- 15:25Speaker 5: did last year. Just got to step it up, hold
- 15:26Speaker 5: it down for a little bit, you know, and hopefully
- 15:28Speaker 5: he comes back and he's goods to go. Yeah, you
- 15:30Speaker 5: hate to see Pooka get hurt like that, especially coming
- 15:32Speaker 5: off of the year he had last year.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Yeah, but Cooper cup what was it the other year?
- 15:36Speaker 3: Was it the Super Bowl year where he had the crown?
- 15:40Speaker 5: He won the ye that crown, but it almost had
- 15:42Speaker 5: the uh the receptions on a season I've seen yards
- 15:45Speaker 5: reception yards record missed it by like thirty yards or
- 15:48Speaker 5: something like that.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Close close. What do you see from the Niners.
- 15:50Speaker 4: And the Jets, Niners and Jets. This was a big one.
- 15:53Speaker 5: I think I was other than the Hawks game, this
- 15:55Speaker 5: is the one I was most excited to watch because
- 15:57Speaker 5: I want to see if the old man, Aaron Rodd
- 16:00Speaker 5: can do what he was supposed to do and fifty
- 16:03Speaker 5: two weeks exactly from his achilles injury. It was what
- 16:07Speaker 5: four plays into the game, that thing goes and he
- 16:10Speaker 5: had to sit down for a long time. So everybody
- 16:12Speaker 5: wanted to see. Everyone wanted to see what was going
- 16:14Speaker 5: to go down, and let's see how it goes. How
- 16:16Speaker 5: it went down. The Jets came out they led seven
- 16:19Speaker 5: to three after the first quarter, but the forty nine
- 16:21Speaker 5: Er score twenty three unanswered points to take a twenty
- 16:25Speaker 5: six to seven lead. Rogers responded by throwing his first
- 16:28Speaker 5: touchdown pass and six hundred and ten days funny Alan
- 16:32Speaker 5: Lazard on a thirty six yard score man six hundred
- 16:34Speaker 5: and ten days that made the score twenty six to
- 16:37Speaker 5: a thirteen. The forty nine Ers would add two more
- 16:39Speaker 5: field goals to put the game out of reach. Tyrod
- 16:41Speaker 5: Taylor came in the game and garbage time, throwing another
- 16:43Speaker 5: touchdown to Lazard. Blazard had himself a weird game. He
- 16:46Speaker 5: had a big drop and then he also had a
- 16:47Speaker 5: couple catches there. I think that's just who he is.
- 16:49Speaker 5: He gonna drop it once or twice, but he can
- 16:51Speaker 5: make some plays for you. Rogers finished the game at
- 16:54Speaker 5: thirteen of twenty one for a bucks sixty seven, one
- 16:56Speaker 5: touchdown in one interception. On the other side, mister irrelevant,
- 17:00Speaker 5: we get what are we gonna stop calling him?
- 17:01Speaker 4: That?
- 17:02Speaker 5: Is that you think he like embraces that at this
- 17:03Speaker 5: point or is he like, come on, guys, I'm legit, Like.
- 17:06Speaker 3: I think you had to embrace it because he didn't
- 17:08Speaker 3: have any option, But at this point he's I think
- 17:10Speaker 3: he's pass that.
- 17:11Speaker 4: He's passed that.
- 17:12Speaker 5: All right, I'm gonna stop doing that to you, brock
- 17:13Speaker 5: and until you play us. And then he went nineteen
- 17:17Speaker 5: or twenty nine for two thirty one, zero touchdowns, zero interceptions.
- 17:20Speaker 5: But the story of the game was Jordan Mason. None
- 17:23Speaker 5: of y'all had him on your on your fantasy football team, noney.
- 17:25Speaker 5: Maybe someone picked him up because they did have a
- 17:27Speaker 5: He did slip up and tell people that he was
- 17:29Speaker 5: gonna start, but he was obviously playing for Christian McCaffrey.
- 17:33Speaker 5: He ran for one hundred and forty seven yards on
- 17:36Speaker 5: twenty eight carries, one touchdown. Dee Ball also had seventy
- 17:39Speaker 5: seven yards and one touchdown. The Niners got Minnesota next
- 17:42Speaker 5: week weeks. I expect him to get it done. You
- 17:44Speaker 5: got Sam Darnod over there, But the Niners look like
- 17:47Speaker 5: the Niners. No surprise up even with Kitschian McCaffrey out.
- 17:51Speaker 5: Remember what it was one year they had Moster that
- 17:53Speaker 5: was going off. They had Jeff Wilson that was going off.
- 17:56Speaker 5: It seems like whoever you put in that backfield is
- 17:58Speaker 5: gonna be fine. But there's no one like Christian.
- 18:00Speaker 3: There's no one like him. But man, they're so talented
- 18:02Speaker 3: and so stacked offensively. And it pains me to say
- 18:04Speaker 3: that because you know the bitter rivalry. You're obesty, But no,
- 18:07Speaker 3: they're amazing. And the thing about it is they didn't
- 18:09Speaker 3: skip a beat. Trent Williams isn't there during camp. The
- 18:12Speaker 3: brandon Au contractors be at all these distractions and they get.
- 18:15Speaker 5: On, you know, why you dropped the ball should have
- 18:17Speaker 5: been at practice. I'm just playing now. You guys got
- 18:19Speaker 5: to poke a little bit.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Okay, No, but Trent came in there and he's still
- 18:23Speaker 3: that dude, and they're still rolling. So I'm really excited
- 18:26Speaker 3: for that matchup against the forty nine Ers on October tenth.
- 18:30Speaker 3: I think it is on Thursday night. It's gonna be
- 18:31Speaker 3: live at Lumen Field. But we got to say focus
- 18:35Speaker 3: bump on the task at hand. The New England Patriots man.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Up, man up on Hawk talk.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Looking at the quarterbacks.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Let's start with the Patriots quarterback Jacobe Brissette taking on
- 18:53Speaker 3: the Seahawks defense.
- 18:54Speaker 1: He's been around the.
- 18:55Speaker 4: Block, bull. Yes.
- 18:56Speaker 3: This is his ninth NFL season after being a third
- 18:59Speaker 3: round pick from the Patriots in twenty sixteen. Since then,
- 19:02Speaker 3: he's played for the Colts, Dolphins, Browns, and Commanders and
- 19:05Speaker 3: now back in New England. In his nine years, he
- 19:09Speaker 3: started forty nine of eighty games, so a little over half,
- 19:11Speaker 3: and he's been the primary starter. In twenty seventeen, twenty nineteen,
- 19:14Speaker 3: and twenty twenty two. The Patriots announced ers set as
- 19:17Speaker 3: a start, despite drafting North Carolina quarterback Drake May third overall.
- 19:21Speaker 3: I alluded to it earlier, this was a team decision.
- 19:24Speaker 3: It seemed like they don't want to rush the rookie
- 19:26Speaker 3: out there with a line that might be banged up
- 19:29Speaker 3: and just putting too much pressure on him to step.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Up be that guy right away.
- 19:32Speaker 5: The worst thing you can do is start this young man,
- 19:34Speaker 5: have them failing and sit him because mentally they don't
- 19:37Speaker 5: know what that's going to do with them. I don't
- 19:38Speaker 5: care if people say, oh, well there, you treat quarterbacks differently, Yes,
- 19:41Speaker 5: you do, because if you don't have a quarterback, you
- 19:43Speaker 5: ain't winn a no ball game. So I'm for the
- 19:45Speaker 5: Patriots board Drake. I'm happy they set him down, you know,
- 19:48Speaker 5: as a person. You know, I think of them as
- 19:50Speaker 5: a person. I'm glad they set him down so you
- 19:51Speaker 5: can develop and get right well. And you think of
- 19:53Speaker 5: like the Zach Wilsons of the world. You think of
- 19:55Speaker 5: all these quarterbacks that probably started too.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Early and just never recovered, right, even Saam darnold him
- 20:00Speaker 3: like that, right, or highly touted and just never really recovered.
- 20:02Speaker 3: So anyway, so he's starting the season on the bench.
- 20:05Speaker 3: But you know, the Patriots, like I said, of bringing
- 20:07Speaker 3: him along slowly. That being said, Brissett came in and
- 20:11Speaker 3: played good enough ball, winning football against Cincinnati fifteen to
- 20:14Speaker 3: twenty four, one hundred and twenty one yards, no touchdown,
- 20:16Speaker 3: no picks, he's not gonna do anything flashy. We know
- 20:19Speaker 3: who he is. He's ready going to kill you with
- 20:21Speaker 3: his arm. He's only thrown for three hundred yards six
- 20:24Speaker 3: times in his forty nine career starts, so he's not
- 20:26Speaker 3: gonna kill you in the arm. Career stats ten thousand yards,
- 20:29Speaker 3: fifty one touchdown, twenty three interceptions. But on the Seahawks side,
- 20:34Speaker 3: it's been one sample size, but they were flying around.
- 20:36Speaker 3: They made bow Knicks look like the rookie he was
- 20:39Speaker 3: last week, and the Seahawks boast the fourth best passing
- 20:42Speaker 3: offense after just one week in the National Football League.
- 20:44Speaker 1: So I look for them to get after Jacoby Brissett.
- 20:47Speaker 5: Yeah, get after him. He only tossed that, I believe.
- 20:49Speaker 5: I looked at it his chart, like three passes over
- 20:51Speaker 5: fifteen yards, Like that's not his thing. He has the
- 20:53Speaker 5: ability to push it down the field, but they want
- 20:55Speaker 5: to hand the ball off play action, denk and dunk
- 20:58Speaker 5: and just get through the game. Let's focus on our
- 21:00Speaker 5: quarterback Geno smith Man. He didn't light it up the
- 21:03Speaker 5: first play. It was the worst start you can think of, right,
- 21:06Speaker 5: first play is a sax, second play is an interception. Obviously,
- 21:09Speaker 5: then they get the ball again, false start, but they
- 21:12Speaker 5: bounced back.
- 21:13Speaker 4: After all that, he ended the day eighteen to twenty five.
- 21:15Speaker 5: He completed seventy two percent of his passes for one
- 21:17Speaker 5: hundred and seventy one yards in one touchdown.
- 21:19Speaker 4: I mentioned that interception.
- 21:20Speaker 5: He also had the longest rush of his career come
- 21:23Speaker 5: on thirty four thanks forward touchdown, and he looked. It
- 21:26Speaker 5: wasn't like a I don't feel comfortable running. I just
- 21:29Speaker 5: have a lot of space. It was their space. I'm
- 21:31Speaker 5: taking off. I'm putting a move on the safety. I'm
- 21:34Speaker 5: getting in the end zone. That was fun to see.
- 21:35Speaker 5: He said, he's been grinding this offseason, and you saw
- 21:37Speaker 5: it with that run right there.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Man.
- 21:39Speaker 5: So his seventy two percent completion percentage was ninth best
- 21:42Speaker 5: in the NFL during Week one. I thought it'd be
- 21:44Speaker 5: top five for show, but other guys were balling as well.
- 21:47Speaker 5: In twenty twenty three, he threw for thirty six hundred yards,
- 21:49Speaker 5: twenty touchdowns and nine interceptions.
- 21:52Speaker 4: Look, this patri of defense.
- 21:54Speaker 5: We haven't seen him a lot only one week, but
- 21:57Speaker 5: there they will persist.
- 21:58Speaker 4: Some challenges.
- 21:59Speaker 5: Man, We're gonna talk about some challenges on the defensive
- 22:01Speaker 5: line and how that O line is going to bounce back,
- 22:04Speaker 5: but they played well against Joe Burrow, and Joe Burrow
- 22:06Speaker 5: has a great reputation in this league. He is a
- 22:08Speaker 5: baller and he was twenty one of twenty nine, one
- 22:09Speaker 5: to sixty four, no touchdowns and sacked three times. If
- 22:13Speaker 5: you can protect Gino this week, there's gonna be some
- 22:16Speaker 5: opportunity out there, no.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Question about it, no question about it.
- 22:18Speaker 3: And I like what you said about give Gino his respect,
- 22:20Speaker 3: with some respect on his name, like he has been
- 22:22Speaker 3: grinding this offseason and everyone kind of made fun of it.
- 22:25Speaker 3: No once he took off the safety one of him
- 22:28Speaker 3: one on one open field, hop Hop put a move
- 22:31Speaker 3: on him. Come on, Gino, we got your back up.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Staying on offense, Let's flip it over to the running backs.
- 22:36Speaker 3: Ken Walker taking on this Patriots front seven. Ken Walker
- 22:40Speaker 3: is definitely the MVP of last game, without question. On
- 22:42Speaker 3: the offensive side of the ball, he had one hundred
- 22:44Speaker 3: and three yards on twenty carries in the one touchdown,
- 22:47Speaker 3: went over one hundred yards for the seventh time in
- 22:49Speaker 3: his short career. But the most impressive stats to me,
- 22:52Speaker 3: Bump is the damage he did in the second half.
- 22:54Speaker 3: First half seven carries nineteen yards two point seven carry.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Second half, I said the first excuse me, second half
- 23:01Speaker 3: he went off eighty four yards on thirteen carries in
- 23:04Speaker 3: a touchdown six point four yards per carry. Now, Walker
- 23:07Speaker 3: did suffer an abdomen injury that sidelined him late in
- 23:10Speaker 3: the fourth quarter against Denver, and as of right now,
- 23:12Speaker 3: he's day to day, so we're gonna wait on that.
- 23:14Speaker 3: So if Walker can't go this week, we're still in
- 23:17Speaker 3: good hands Zach Sharboney. He had a thirty yard touchdown
- 23:19Speaker 3: last week and Kenny McIntosh has still yet to get
- 23:22Speaker 3: an official carry, not incleaning the preseason going down in
- 23:25Speaker 3: the National Football the way down this week, So I
- 23:27Speaker 3: Ken Walker can't go, it'll be really interesting to see
- 23:30Speaker 3: what Kenny McIntosh can do, potentially in the first time
- 23:32Speaker 3: toting that rock in the NFL in a regular season game.
- 23:36Speaker 1: But it's gonna be tough. We talked about it before.
- 23:37Speaker 3: This Patriots defense is impressive, holding the Bengals to just
- 23:41Speaker 3: seventy yards last week. They're gonna be disciplined, They're gonna
- 23:43Speaker 3: be where they're supposed to be their head coach and
- 23:45Speaker 3: defensive guy. So definitely gonna be a big matchup, But
- 23:48Speaker 3: I'm excited to see what Seahawks can do there.
- 23:49Speaker 5: Bro be stubborn with the run. It's gonna open everything up.
- 23:52Speaker 5: And I believe in these running backs. If Ken Walker
- 23:54Speaker 5: ain't ready to go, Zach Sharboney and Kenny Mack will
- 23:57Speaker 5: be just fine. Let's talk about New England's running back
- 24:00Speaker 5: Ramandre Stevenson.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Man.
- 24:02Speaker 5: This dude in his fourth season, was a fourth round
- 24:05Speaker 5: pick out of Oklahoma in twenty twenty one. Last week
- 24:08Speaker 5: he did this thing one hundred and twenty yards, twenty
- 24:10Speaker 5: five carries in one touchdown. He's never gone back to
- 24:14Speaker 5: back a hundred yard game. So you know why I
- 24:17Speaker 5: start this week exactly. Just be who you are, be
- 24:20Speaker 5: who you've been in your whole career. You ain't got
- 24:22Speaker 5: to go for one hundred down man. In fact, the
- 24:24Speaker 5: Patriots haven't had a running back go back to back
- 24:27Speaker 5: one hundred yard game since Damien Harrison twenty twenty one.
- 24:31Speaker 5: Steven is trying to return to his twenty twenty two form,
- 24:33Speaker 5: where he had the best season of his career.
- 24:35Speaker 4: In twenty twenty two two.
- 24:37Speaker 5: Hundred and ten carries, one thousand and forty yards, five touchdowns.
- 24:40Speaker 5: He also had sixty nine receptions for four hundred and
- 24:42Speaker 5: twenty one yards and one touchdown. His sixty nine receptions
- 24:45Speaker 5: led the team and was fourth in the NFL among
- 24:48Speaker 5: running backs. Last year, he took a step back, rushing
- 24:51Speaker 5: for just six hundred nineteen yards, one hundred and fifty
- 24:53Speaker 5: six carries and four touchdowns.
- 24:55Speaker 4: He injured his ankle in Week thirteen and never made
- 24:57Speaker 4: it back.
- 24:58Speaker 5: Was placed on the ir He's a physical back and
- 25:02Speaker 5: he will fall forward, but it also make you miss too.
- 25:04Speaker 5: Like I mentioned earlier in the show that he made
- 25:06Speaker 5: a couple moves in the backfield to where it's like, look,
- 25:08Speaker 5: if you don't wrap up and tackle him, he can
- 25:10Speaker 5: break one. But tackling wasn't an issue for these guys
- 25:13Speaker 5: last week the Seahawks.
- 25:14Speaker 4: Let's keep the good times rolling.
- 25:16Speaker 1: How nice is that to say? Man?
- 25:17Speaker 4: So it felt so good because the last couple.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Of years tackling has been an issue and it's not
- 25:21Speaker 3: something McDonald wasn't getting questions about, Hey, how can the
- 25:24Speaker 3: tackling get better?
- 25:25Speaker 1: Yeah, what are you doing in practice? It?
- 25:27Speaker 3: No, tackling was on point. Defense was flying around. Let's
- 25:31Speaker 3: keep it on the Patriots side. Let's sept let's foot
- 25:33Speaker 3: over a defense key On White against the Seahawks offensive line. Now,
- 25:37Speaker 3: I'm not going to lie full disclosure. I did not
- 25:40Speaker 3: know a lot about this man.
- 25:41Speaker 4: Before this week. Yeah, got to know him though.
- 25:43Speaker 3: We were talking about it walking up here. We turned
- 25:45Speaker 3: on the tape, You're like, wow, who is this dude?
- 25:47Speaker 3: He is all over the field causing havoc. For those
- 25:50Speaker 3: who don't know, he was a second round pick, played
- 25:52Speaker 3: at Old Dominion and Georgia Tech. Was incredibly active in
- 25:55Speaker 3: Week one. Four tackles, two and a half sacks, two TFLs,
- 25:59Speaker 3: three quarterback hits, and a force fumble and outside of that,
- 26:03Speaker 3: just causing havoc all game. He's gonna move around, but
- 26:05Speaker 3: he primarily lines up on the left side, the offensive right.
- 26:09Speaker 3: And you know, he had more sacks in the game
- 26:11Speaker 3: than he had all of last season in sixteen games.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Not like he didn't play last year. He only started
- 26:15Speaker 3: four games, but he started where he was in all sixteen.
- 26:19Speaker 3: And he's definitely gonna play a lot larger role in
- 26:22Speaker 3: their defense when Matthew Judon not there, especially.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Under coach Mayo.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Twenty twenty three, he had twenty six tackles, three TFLs,
- 26:29Speaker 3: five quarterback hits, one sack, three passes defended. Now the
- 26:33Speaker 3: Seahawks offensive line, they took their lumps a little bit
- 26:35Speaker 3: early on, but had a great second half. And when
- 26:38Speaker 3: you look at individual matchups, the two that stood out
- 26:41Speaker 3: to me, Connor Williams did his thing. I thought he
- 26:43Speaker 3: played a good football game. And then Charles crossp but
- 26:47Speaker 3: sixty seven. I don't know what's gotten into him because
- 26:49Speaker 3: he was a great player beforehand, but he's a different
- 26:52Speaker 3: dude this year. He's such a calm, nice demeanor, but
- 26:55Speaker 3: he was putting dudes into the ground. He found There
- 26:58Speaker 3: was one though Ken Walker's touchdown. Talked about this on
- 27:00Speaker 3: the recap pod. Yeah, his old teammate, old friend, Cody
- 27:04Speaker 3: Bartons standing over there, just picked him up.
- 27:06Speaker 4: Damn grown. He's comfy. He's a man. Third year, there's
- 27:10Speaker 4: something that special that happens. It's like high school.
- 27:13Speaker 5: My coaches to say, wait till your junior year, it's
- 27:15Speaker 5: going to be different. Like coach, I was All American sophomore,
- 27:17Speaker 5: which you talking about, Wait till your junior year. Your
- 27:19Speaker 5: third year, man, you figure some things out. So I'm
- 27:22Speaker 5: excited that he had the day that he have. All
- 27:25Speaker 5: let's talk about these are these Patriots receiver. They haven't
- 27:28Speaker 5: done a lot over the past few years. Man, the
- 27:30Speaker 5: numbers aren't great. Patriots haven't had a thousand yard receivers
- 27:32Speaker 5: since Julian Edelman in twenty nineteen. It felt like Julian
- 27:36Speaker 5: a place is twenty sixteen. For some reason, felt like
- 27:39Speaker 5: it's been longer than that.
- 27:40Speaker 3: I mean, it probably even feels longer for context, because
- 27:43Speaker 3: that was before the pandemic.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Yeah, so that might as well be fifteen.
- 27:46Speaker 5: Years for this pandemic added like five six years to
- 27:49Speaker 5: my body, all right. Twenty twenty three, they ranked twenty
- 27:52Speaker 5: eighth in passing. The last two years, running backs Ezekiel
- 27:55Speaker 5: Elliott and Ramandre Stevenson led the team in receptions. That's
- 27:58Speaker 5: never good. The team looked to address the lack of production.
- 28:02Speaker 5: They drafted local kid out of U dub Jalen Polk.
- 28:06Speaker 5: He's got potential. I've in the preseason he was doing
- 28:09Speaker 5: this thing. I think he might be. He might be
- 28:10Speaker 5: a late bloomber, like later this year or maybe the
- 28:12Speaker 5: next year. So let's let's keep him young. So far,
- 28:15Speaker 5: but they got Damario Douglas in twenty twenty three, had
- 28:18Speaker 5: forty nine receptions for five sixty one zero touchdown. Last
- 28:22Speaker 5: week he had two for twelve. You got Taekwan Thornton.
- 28:27Speaker 5: Twenty twenty three, he had thirteen receptions for ninety one
- 28:29Speaker 5: yards dero touchdowns last week two for twenty seven. New
- 28:33Speaker 5: impact players, they got kJ Osborne Osbourne sorr that that
- 28:36Speaker 5: that word always checks me up. Remember the Osborne Osbourne's
- 28:40Speaker 5: the reality jack. Yeah, still jacking me up. I'm just
- 28:43Speaker 5: calling him kJ. kJ had two twenty in twenty twenty three.
- 28:48Speaker 5: At Minnesota, he had forty eight receptions for five hundred
- 28:51Speaker 5: and forty yards and three touchdowns.
- 28:52Speaker 4: Last week he had three for twenty one.
- 28:55Speaker 5: And then Polk was a part of the greatest offense
- 28:57Speaker 5: we've seen in a while in college football at udub
- 28:59Speaker 5: sixty nine receptions eleven hundred yards, nine touchdowns. Last week
- 29:03Speaker 5: he had one for six. I'm just saying, look, there's
- 29:06Speaker 5: potential here. You don't sleep on nobody. kJ has shown
- 29:09Speaker 5: that he can do it. Bulk did it last year.
- 29:11Speaker 5: I'm at you, Dub. Let's just not have this be
- 29:14Speaker 5: the game where they figure something out and get these
- 29:16Speaker 5: guys involved. I would love for them to rely running
- 29:19Speaker 5: backs to be leading receivers on the scene.
- 29:21Speaker 3: No question about it the way this defense is playing
- 29:23Speaker 3: under coach McDonald. If you're going to be one dimensional,
- 29:26Speaker 3: good luck, Yeah for real, good luck with this secondary
- 29:28Speaker 3: the way they're playing, it'll be interesting. I've heard a
- 29:31Speaker 3: lot of good things coming out of New England. Also
- 29:32Speaker 3: about Jalen Polk as well. While he only had the
- 29:34Speaker 3: one catch for six yards, everyone was talking about he
- 29:37Speaker 3: was still getting open. He was still cooking guys and
- 29:39Speaker 3: maybe just you know, not on the same page. Obviously
- 29:41Speaker 3: he's receiver. He depends so much more on the other
- 29:43Speaker 3: ten guys out on the field. So definitely be an
- 29:45Speaker 3: interesting matchup to watch. But let's flip over to our receivers,
- 29:49Speaker 3: DK Tyler JSN taking on this Patriot secondary bump, and
- 29:53Speaker 3: last week they were led by Tyler. Tyler didn't get
- 29:55Speaker 3: a lot of shine all off season. People kind of
- 29:58Speaker 3: forget because just naturally he was saying this first since
- 30:01Speaker 3: his entire time in the league. Tyler Lockett is the
- 30:03Speaker 3: most underrated receiver in football, and no matter what we
- 30:06Speaker 3: say on this podcast, Tomorro when anyone says, he kind
- 30:09Speaker 3: of just stays there. But every time and time again
- 30:11Speaker 3: he shows you what he can do. Last week didn't
- 30:13Speaker 3: kill you you know, numbers wise, but he has some
- 30:16Speaker 3: big catches in the second half, has a game sealing
- 30:18Speaker 3: one handed catch that won the game, got to kneel
- 30:21Speaker 3: out the clock. Became the one hundred and thirteen player
- 30:23Speaker 3: in NFL history with eight thousand receiving yards. So it
- 30:26Speaker 3: was good to see Tyler ball out. But in terms
- 30:29Speaker 3: of production, it wasn't a big day for the offense.
- 30:30Speaker 3: In terms of receivers, DCA had three receptions for twenty nine,
- 30:34Speaker 3: JSN two for nineteen, and Lockett, as I mentioned, six
- 30:36Speaker 3: for seventy seven. I'd expect this screw to put up
- 30:39Speaker 3: a lot bigger numbers this week. Yeah, you know, you
- 30:42Speaker 3: can't account for starting that poorly on offense on those
- 30:45Speaker 3: three possessions because those essentially were lost possessions, and then
- 30:48Speaker 3: you start establishing the run. But I feel like if
- 30:51Speaker 3: rub Grub gets to do what he wants to do
- 30:53Speaker 3: and establish the run and start opening things up, I'd
- 30:55Speaker 3: expect these guys to have a pretty big day and
- 30:58Speaker 3: then bump. The secondary for the Patriots is probably low
- 31:01Speaker 3: key one of the most underrated groups in football. Yeah,
- 31:06Speaker 3: that dB room was looking okay.
- 31:08Speaker 5: Kyle Dugar, fifth year player, he started fifty three at
- 31:12Speaker 5: sixty two games. He has a lot of experience in
- 31:15Speaker 5: twenty twenty three, six TFLs, five quarterback hits, five passes
- 31:18Speaker 5: defendant and one force fumble. And then you got one
- 31:22Speaker 5: of my favorite players to watch honestly, Jabrill Peppers eight
- 31:24Speaker 5: year event. He started eighty of ninety four games in
- 31:27Speaker 5: twenty twenty three, seventy eight tackles, two interceptions, eight passes
- 31:30Speaker 5: defended in five TFLs.
- 31:32Speaker 4: And then kind of a local guy, he went to Oregon,
- 31:34Speaker 4: you know, a little south of US.
- 31:36Speaker 5: Christian Gonzalez, second year player and a last year seventeen tackles,
- 31:40Speaker 5: one interception, three passes defendant in one TfL. Christian Gonzales
- 31:46Speaker 5: with Jabrill Peppers and Dugar, I mean that is a talented,
- 31:50Speaker 5: talented back end. When you look at these dbs.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Well in the number from last year don't even really
- 31:53Speaker 3: count because he got hurt. Yeah, and you know he
- 31:56Speaker 3: was started at Colorado right before he went to Oregon.
- 31:58Speaker 1: I believe first round pick.
- 32:01Speaker 3: And well, I love what he did against Jamar when
- 32:03Speaker 3: they were matched up against each other, three for fourteen
- 32:08Speaker 3: twenty routes run against when Gonzales covered him just three
- 32:11Speaker 3: for fourteen of.
- 32:12Speaker 1: That, so he's definitely playing some good football.
- 32:15Speaker 3: And I like to see what's gonna happen there, and
- 32:17Speaker 3: I would love to see what happens when he's on
- 32:19Speaker 3: DK K Tyler.
- 32:21Speaker 5: You know what DKs do, man, Because last last week,
- 32:25Speaker 5: like you said, no, none of the receivers had a
- 32:26Speaker 5: great game, but there were some opportunities.
- 32:29Speaker 4: And I know DK watched defemin goes.
- 32:30Speaker 5: You know what, this week, they don't get it, So
- 32:33Speaker 5: take out that frustration like you do. DK own these guys,
- 32:36Speaker 5: and we can't forget Marcus Jones. He's a third year player.
- 32:39Speaker 5: He had five tackles, one force fumble, and twenty twenty
- 32:42Speaker 5: two he was All Pro. He was an All Pro
- 32:44Speaker 5: pumper turner, so you know he's got some will go
- 32:47Speaker 5: back there. And also Jonathan Jones is a nine year
- 32:50Speaker 5: vet og in the game in twenty twenty three, forty
- 32:53Speaker 5: eight tackles, seven passes defended.
- 32:56Speaker 4: Let's go.
- 32:56Speaker 5: This is the NFL, man, I mean yeah, even the
- 32:58Speaker 5: Carolina Panthers, who don't look good right now, got some
- 33:01Speaker 5: balls on that defense. So respect everybody, especially these guys,
- 33:04Speaker 5: and let's see what we can do.
- 33:06Speaker 3: This game definitely has the field kind of an old
- 33:08Speaker 3: school run the ball, low scoring, but I could be wrong.
- 33:11Speaker 3: We'll see what happens bump. But right now we're gonna
- 33:13Speaker 3: tell you how the Seahawks are gonna get that victory.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Path the victory. After forty five waits for the snaff,
- 33:20Speaker 1: Michael Vickton puts it down. That kick is away. If
- 33:23Speaker 1: that kick.
- 33:24Speaker 5: Is gone, good day off.
- 33:26Speaker 2: When bit's gone, it's a path to victory.
- 33:29Speaker 1: On Hawk Talk, Bill Off. What happened last week?
- 33:32Speaker 3: Man, it was an incredible day at Lumenfield that the
- 33:35Speaker 3: atmosphere was different. This team was flying around defensively. It
- 33:38Speaker 3: was something we hadn't seen in a couple of years.
- 33:40Speaker 3: And they just need to continue to do what they
- 33:41Speaker 3: did last week. Set the tone, fly around Dots and
- 33:44Speaker 3: Baker Jenkins, love Spoon Reek, the backs at front seven,
- 33:49Speaker 3: all of them, they were running downhill, they were hitting,
- 33:52Speaker 3: guys are going down tackling them. So I just want
- 33:54Speaker 3: to see that kind of energy and that kind of
- 33:56Speaker 3: speed and aggressiveness in a second week, where now Mike
- 34:00Speaker 3: McDonald had some film on these guys to study, because
- 34:03Speaker 3: going in last week you never really knew what was
- 34:05Speaker 3: gonna happen. Ricky quarterback now there's some stuff on tape.
- 34:07Speaker 3: We know who Jacoby Brissette is, so I'm really excited
- 34:09Speaker 3: to see what Mike can do against this Patriots offense.
- 34:13Speaker 5: Speaking of Brisselle, you got to get after that dude.
- 34:14Speaker 5: He doesn't turn the ball over a lot. I think
- 34:17Speaker 5: you mentioned during the podcast he's been like the main
- 34:20Speaker 5: start of three or four years, has never thrown double
- 34:22Speaker 5: digit interceptions. So get after him and make him change
- 34:26Speaker 5: his ways. Get him in those third and longs. And
- 34:28Speaker 5: then of course last week they ran the ball all
- 34:31Speaker 5: right Ramandre Stevenson, get after him. Wrap him up because
- 34:35Speaker 5: we know that he can play as the physical runner.
- 34:37Speaker 5: He gets downhill, he can make you move and then
- 34:40Speaker 5: I'll always man take the ball away just snatching out
- 34:42Speaker 5: the air force fumbles Man Jy Love punched one out
- 34:45Speaker 5: so clean, and it just le Broncos got so lucky,
- 34:48Speaker 5: just fell right into their lap.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Man.
- 34:49Speaker 4: I need to see more of that.
- 34:50Speaker 3: No, I love that, and that's not a mistake. That's
- 34:52Speaker 3: something you practice intention Those players don't just fall in
- 34:55Speaker 3: your lap.
- 34:55Speaker 1: So I love to see that.
- 34:56Speaker 3: In three takeaways last week, Lee he even get three
- 34:59Speaker 3: more offensively, There's no secret.
- 35:01Speaker 1: They just got to start faster than that.
- 35:03Speaker 3: You're not gonna have another game where you give up
- 35:06Speaker 3: two safeties, sack, interception, supposed to win that game.
- 35:09Speaker 5: No, two safeties. It started the way that you started.
- 35:12Speaker 5: Those are those are hitting points.
- 35:13Speaker 4: So yeah, I'm with you.
- 35:14Speaker 3: No, I think they start faster and keep Geno clean. Right,
- 35:17Speaker 3: If Gino has a clean pocket, has time to throw
- 35:19Speaker 3: the ball, he's gonna do well. Make sure you protect him.
- 35:22Speaker 3: Because White had a day. He can't have another two
- 35:24Speaker 3: and a half sack day, you know what I'm saying.
- 35:25Speaker 3: And then no penalties, don't get behind the sticks. I
- 35:29Speaker 3: think we know what this team's identity wants to be,
- 35:30Speaker 3: and it's running the football and it's being physical and
- 35:32Speaker 3: then it's beating you over the top. So I'm really
- 35:34Speaker 3: hoping we can see all those on Sunday. Established a
- 35:37Speaker 3: run and this could be It's could be fun.
- 35:40Speaker 4: But mo on, let's get to and oh, let's get there.
- 35:42Speaker 3: No for sure, and I think we're gonna see. This
- 35:46Speaker 3: is gonna be a it's like a long book. Right,
- 35:48Speaker 3: we just saw chapter one. We got a seventeen page book.
- 35:51Speaker 3: I'm excited to see chapter two because if they can
- 35:54Speaker 3: build off what they did, last week.
- 35:55Speaker 1: This could be a really fun year and it can
- 35:57Speaker 1: lead into some real you can.
- 35:59Speaker 4: Read, I'll do the audio audio book.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Yes you read a book, quess all right, that's gonna

- 36:25Speaker 4: Kick.
