Speaker 1: wants to hear from you. Right after this short word

Speaker 1: from our sponsors, we'll pray that today's prayer for good
• 0:30
Speaker 1: purpose A prayer for good purpose in the place God
• 0:53
Speaker 1: has you. Written and read by Carrie Eichberger. But Joseph
• 1:00
Speaker 1: said to them, Don't be afraid. Am I in the
• 1:03
Speaker 1: place of God? You intended to harm me, but God
• 1:07
Speaker 1: intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done,
• 1:10
Speaker 1: the saving of many lives. Genesis 50 verses 19 and 20.
• 1:17
  Speaker 1: I wasn't quite where I wanted to be, and I
• 1:20
Speaker 1: was sure to share that sentiment with everyone who asked
• 1:23
Speaker 1: about my recovery progress as the big day grew closer.
• 1:28
Speaker 1: At four months out from my scoliosis surgery, And one
• 1:31
Speaker 1: month before my son's wedding, I knew my physical ability
• 1:35
Speaker 1: would be an issue come this blessed event. I was
• 1:39
Speaker 1: once sure I'd spend dancing the night away in joyful celebration. Now,
• 1:45
Speaker 1: all I was sure of was that I had deceived myself.
• 1:48
Speaker 1: And I wondered what good could possibly come from my
• 1:51
Speaker 1: new reality, my circumstances that quickly became doused in disappointment.
• 1:57
Speaker 1: Let me ask, How do you feel about where you
• 2:00
Speaker 1: are right now? Are you in a set of circumstances
• 2:04
Speaker 1: you didn't see coming or in the midst of a
• 2:07
Speaker 1: situation that makes you wonder how in the world it
• 2:10
Speaker 1: could serve you or anyone well? I have felt this
• 2:14
Speaker 1: a lot lately. Though the truth is, I know deep
• 2:18
Speaker 1: down that God has good purpose in all things. I
• 2:23
Speaker 1: also know I need to remember this more often. As
• 2:26
Speaker 1: God would so kindly have it, I recently re-read a
• 2:30
Speaker 1: familiar Bible story from a fresh perspective, which prompted me
• 2:34
Speaker 1: to write down a specific verse so I could see
• 2:37
Speaker 1: it daily in plain sight— a reminder I knew I needed
• 2:41
Speaker 1: to embrace the entire season of preparing for my son's
• 2:45
Speaker 1: wedding while still recovering. It was a long stretch when
• 2:49
Speaker 1: I struggled to live in the peace that God really
• 2:52
Speaker 1: did have good plans and a purpose for the exact
• 2:56
Speaker 1: place He had me. was of Joseph in Genesis, chapter 20,
• 3:01
Speaker 1: verses 19 and 20 in particular. After the extensive suffering, chaos,
• 3:07
Speaker 1: and surely confusion, Joseph endured of being left for dead
• 3:12
Speaker 1: and sold into slavery by his brothers, living for years
• 3:15
Speaker 1: as a prisoner and slave, being set up and falsely accused,
• 3:20
Speaker 1: and so much more. He had every right to question
• 3:23
Speaker 1: God's goodness. Joseph had every reason to doubt God, and
• 3:28
Speaker 1: wonder why he would allow him to go through so much.
• 3:31
Speaker 1: Joseph could have and should have been furious with his
• 3:34
Speaker 1: brothers for their horrible treatment. His brothers, who would years later,
• 3:39
Speaker 1: plead with Joseph to forgive them, fearing his judgment and revenge.
• 3:44
Speaker 1: Joseph said to them, Don't be afraid. Am I in
• 3:48
Speaker 1: the place of God? You intended to harm me, but
• 3:51
Speaker 1: God intended it for good, to accomplish what is now
• 3:54
Speaker 1: being done, the saving of many lives. When Joseph said,
• 3:59
Speaker 1: Am I in the place of God? He acknowledged God's
• 4:02
Speaker 1: purposeful placement of exactly where he had been and right
• 4:06
Speaker 1: where he was. He acknowledged God's provision, care, and control
• 4:13
Speaker 1: regardless of the pain. He understood that no matter what
• 4:17
Speaker 1: he had been through or how he got there, God
• 4:20
Speaker 1: had a good plan for it all. He knew he
• 4:24
Speaker 1: was always in God's place. He was right where God
• 4:28
Speaker 1: wanted him in the pit, in prison, and in the
• 4:31
Speaker 1: moment he reunited with his brothers. Through it all, Joseph
• 4:35
Speaker 1: had a godly perspective and so much more peace in
• 4:38
Speaker 1: the process because of it. And what a long process
• 4:42
Speaker 1: it was. I also experienced more of this peace the
• 4:46
Speaker 1: past few months as I held tight to these words
• 4:49
Speaker 1: I had written down. Am I in the place of God?
• 4:53
Speaker 1: The answer was yes. the answer is still yes, and
• 4:58
Speaker 1: it always will be. I was, in fact, able to
• 5:01
Speaker 1: dance at my son's wedding last week. Maybe not exactly
• 5:05
Speaker 1: with the freedom I'd hoped, but it was such a
• 5:07
Speaker 1: special day, blessed in every way by our good God.
• 5:12
Speaker 1: And though I don't know why God has allowed my
• 5:14
Speaker 1: discomfort and disappointment, the delay in my recovery, or any
• 5:18
Speaker 1: of my struggles, and though I may not have necessarily
• 5:21
Speaker 1: chosen this exact path, I do know Whether it's for
• 5:25
Speaker 1: my good now or later, or someone else's good now
• 5:29
Speaker 1: or later, it is all for good. I am always
• 5:34
Speaker 1: in the place of God. You are always in the
• 5:37
Speaker 1: place of God. And that is so, so good. Now
• 5:42
Speaker 1: and forever. Let's pray. Lord God, you are the author
• 5:48
Speaker 1: of all good things. And everything you are doing in
• 5:51
Speaker 1: my life is leading toward your good and perfect plan.
• 5:55
Speaker 1: But the truth is, it doesn't always seem good in
• 5:58
Speaker 1: the moment. So often, my current circumstances feel really uncomfortable,
• 6:04
Speaker 1: and I can't imagine how they could be purposeful. But
• 6:07
Speaker 1: your word promises and reveals that you have a great
• 6:11
Speaker 1: purpose no matter where you have me. And that means
• 6:14
Speaker 1: this very moment, in my very situation, just as it is.
• 6:20
Speaker 1: Help me trust you in this season. Help me see
• 6:23
Speaker 1: your goodness and light in the shadows of life. I
• 6:26
Speaker 1: know you never stop shining in and through each of
• 6:30
Speaker 1: my days, and I praise you for that. Lord, you
• 6:34
Speaker 1: are so faithful, so good, and I love you so much.
• 6:38
