- 0:42Speaker 1: All right, Welcome to the Philadelphia Sports Table podcast show,
- 0:45Speaker 1: the longest running weekly Philly sports podcast show in.
- 0:47Speaker 2: The world, over twelve and a half years strong.
- 0:50Speaker 1: It is Tuesday, December thirtieth, twenty twenty five, our last
- 0:54Speaker 1: podcast of twenty twenty five. No, folks, not the last
- 0:59Speaker 1: podcast ever. We got more for you not.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I know. Eric's so disappointed. Edgecombe stand here.
- 1:05Speaker 1: So disappointed of Jeff Barren, Eric Leonard here. We've got
- 1:11Speaker 1: no agenda, folks, We've got no agenda on this one.
- 1:14Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I talked to Eric and said, why don't we talk
- 1:16Speaker 1: about some things we might have learned, some bizarre, really
- 1:20Speaker 1: ridiculous like things that we learned throughout twenty twenty five.
- 1:24Speaker 1: So we're kind of, I guess, kind of get into
- 1:26Speaker 1: some of those things a little bit. But we really
- 1:27Speaker 1: don't have an agenda. I don't know, man. Like I've
- 1:30Speaker 1: been thinking about twenty twenty five Eric, and like reflecting
- 1:33Speaker 1: on it. I've reposted the Eagles post game show this
- 1:36Speaker 1: past week that you and I did after the Eagles
- 1:38Speaker 1: Super Bowl win. That has to be the greatest moment
- 1:40Speaker 1: of twenty twenty five in the world of Philly sports.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I mean, it has to be right, it's not even close. Yeah,
- 1:46Speaker 3: I mean, like what else could it be? Go through
- 1:49Speaker 3: each go through all four teams. Yeah, like it's yeah,
- 1:52Speaker 3: the Eagles are they won the NFC East and they're
- 1:55Speaker 3: going to the playoffs. But wow, uh yeah, not a
- 1:58Speaker 3: fun not a fun season. The Phillies let us down again.
- 2:03Speaker 3: I think the Sixers drafted Edgecomb might be number two.
- 2:06Speaker 2: It might act year. I mean it's just yeah.
- 2:08Speaker 3: That's kind of It's kind of how it's been this year.
- 2:10Speaker 3: It's been kind of like, yeah, but the Flyers getting
- 2:14Speaker 3: Trevor Zgres Yes, yes, I love that. You Yeah, well
- 2:20Speaker 3: I try to get his jersey. My god, you can't.
- 2:22Speaker 3: You couldn't get it for Christmas anywhere. It was principle,
- 2:25Speaker 3: it was He's Forester Coturia. I'm all in, dude, And
- 2:29Speaker 3: like they actually have some good goalkeeping, yeah.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Which is shocking.
- 2:32Speaker 3: And it's like a it's a tandem situation, which is
- 2:35Speaker 3: like when's the last time that happened in Philadelphia? Yeah, like, yeah,
- 2:39Speaker 3: it's it. I think the Flyers are a huge like
- 2:44Speaker 3: going into twenty twenty six. You know, if the Eagles
- 2:47Speaker 3: bomb out in the playoffs and the Sixers keep playing
- 2:50Speaker 3: five hundred ball, like the are right now. I mean
- 2:52Speaker 3: I'm watching over here. Uh it's high game forty three seconds.
- 2:57Speaker 3: But yeah, the Flyers might be like the one of
- 2:59Speaker 3: the the top story going into the next season.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Yeah, they might be each year.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I mean I've also been thinking too, you know, it
- 3:06Speaker 1: could be worse than being a Philadelphia sports fan. You know,
- 3:09Speaker 1: you look at you look at teams like maybe down
- 3:12Speaker 1: in you know, Tennessee, you know, like you've got the Grizzlies,
- 3:16Speaker 1: who aren't all that great of a team. Yeah, Tennessee
- 3:19Speaker 1: Titans really not all that great of a team. Like
- 3:22Speaker 1: what there are certain markets out there where you're like,
- 3:25Speaker 1: you know what, just I would it would be terrible
- 3:28Speaker 1: if I was, if I was in that fan base,
- 3:32Speaker 1: you know. And I think we're pretty lucky here in
- 3:35Speaker 1: the world of phillyp sports here into twenty twenty fives,
- 3:38Speaker 1: we're heading into twenty twenty six.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Can be kind of touched upon.
- 3:40Speaker 3: A couple of weeks ago, we talked about some other
- 3:42Speaker 3: fan bases where you're just like, oh my god, this
- 3:44Speaker 3: is brutal. Yeah, like like Vegas is one in New Orleans,
- 3:49Speaker 3: just I mean, they have a decent quarterback possibly, but
- 3:52Speaker 3: like their their football team stinks or basketball team might leave.
- 3:56Speaker 3: I mean that that is not a great situation down
- 3:58Speaker 3: There's a lot of there's a lot of city like
- 4:00Speaker 3: Miami's not not very good at sports. Yea, yeah, yeah,
- 4:05Speaker 3: it could be far far worse. That absolutely could. I'm
- 4:09Speaker 3: grateful to be a Philadelphia fan. Oh, let's do New
- 4:14Speaker 3: Year's resolution. How many podcasts are doing that?
- 4:18Speaker 1: I know, I know, I hate resolutions. I hate resolutions.
- 4:23Speaker 2: I do. I do things called intentions, all right, I
- 4:27Speaker 2: know that's what I do. The intentions. Someone's going to therapy.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Somebody knows what intentions are about, folks.
- 4:37Speaker 2: We talked about our therapy before every show pretty much,
- 4:40Speaker 2: yeah this one, but exactly, yeah, exactly.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Look, I don't know if there's anything else you want
- 4:46Speaker 1: to get into with Philly sports, you know, before we
- 4:48Speaker 1: just get into some random random stuff here. Again, we
- 4:51Speaker 1: have no agenda, folks on this particular podcast. But I
- 4:57Speaker 1: genuine I genuinely like where every Philly sports team is
- 5:01Speaker 1: at right now. I do heading into twenty twenties, I
- 5:05Speaker 1: like where they're at right now. Like there's no like
- 5:08Speaker 1: one real dominant team, but there is so much promise
- 5:12Speaker 1: and each team has some level of intrigue to it
- 5:16Speaker 1: that's going to keep us coming back in twenty twenty six.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Each team. Yeah, I mean the six Ers can be
- 5:22Speaker 3: awesome in like four or five game stretches.
- 5:24Speaker 1: They can be awesome in the first, second quarter, by
- 5:27Speaker 1: the way, and even the fourth every now and then.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, you want to talk twenty twenty five
- 5:32Speaker 3: things I learned?
- 5:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I have it right here.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I play.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Let's get into it.
- 5:36Speaker 3: I'm in a six Ers thread with some buddies and
- 5:39Speaker 3: we're we just marvel at every third quarter. We of
- 5:43Speaker 3: course people happen. It's usually tied or they're up like
- 5:45Speaker 3: five or six points. Halftime happens, and around halftime is
- 5:48Speaker 3: when me and my buddies start texting, Okay, how shitty
- 5:51Speaker 3: are they going to look this this third quarter? Because
- 5:53Speaker 3: they are by far. I have it in front of me.
- 5:56Speaker 3: They're five negative five point six in the third quarter
- 6:02Speaker 3: point differential on average per per game. So if you
- 6:07Speaker 3: added up tonight, they actually want tonight. If you add
- 6:10Speaker 3: it up, there at minus one seventy two point my god,
- 6:14Speaker 3: total differential point differential every team and they've only played
- 6:18Speaker 3: with thirty games, I think, so that is that is dreadful,
- 6:22Speaker 3: and the teams that are above them Indiana, New Orleans, Utah, Charley,
- 6:25Speaker 3: the kind of teams you would think. Yeah, but that's
- 6:27Speaker 3: something I learned in twenty twenty five is that Nick
- 6:30Speaker 3: Nurse must take like a sleeping pill at halftime because
- 6:35Speaker 3: he just he's done in the third quarter, and then
- 6:37Speaker 3: the fourth quarter they pick it back up. Same thing
- 6:39Speaker 3: happened tonight. They're tied right now, and but they but
- 6:42Speaker 3: they I think they lost the third quarter by seven points.
- 6:45Speaker 3: It's every fucking game.
- 6:48Speaker 2: And this isn't just this season.
- 6:50Speaker 1: This has been happening for the past couple of years,
- 6:52Speaker 1: like years, this has happened.
- 6:55Speaker 2: What the fuck is going on here?
- 6:57Speaker 1: I'm serious. This is the most bizarre thing. Look, they're
- 7:01Speaker 1: putting a lot of the bench pieces in during the
- 7:03Speaker 1: third quarter.
- 7:04Speaker 2: We all know that.
- 7:04Speaker 1: We understand that, like that, that's what happens in professional basketball.
- 7:08Speaker 1: That's that's what happens. Yeah, majority of third quarter are
- 7:12Speaker 1: bench players. But to but to the extent at which
- 7:15Speaker 1: they suck so bad during that particular point in time
- 7:19Speaker 1: in the game is so bizarre that I can't I
- 7:23Speaker 1: can't wrap my head around it.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Well, it's it's like if it's happening and you and
- 7:29Speaker 3: you you see the pattern, Like that's when you kind
- 7:32Speaker 3: of put in your energy.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Guys.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Yeah, like Adam Bona should play most third quarters and
- 7:36Speaker 3: just sit and be because he brings energy to the
- 7:39Speaker 3: Cordy block shots. He can score that down by the rim.
- 7:42Speaker 3: He's the kind of guy you want to get at
- 7:43Speaker 3: your team jump started. But I swear to God, I
- 7:46Speaker 3: would love to look up his minutes in the third quarter.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Nick Nurse sits that guy and that brings him in
- 7:50Speaker 3: the fourth quarter, and it's like, hey, genius. You know
- 7:53Speaker 3: he's like a couple of years ago he was a genius.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Now I don't know what the hell he is now, but.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Yeah, what are you doing right?
- 7:59Speaker 3: You got young, young, experience guys with a lot of energy,
- 8:04Speaker 3: and we're we're putting that corpse out there at the
- 8:07Speaker 3: top of the key running the offense and Maxi's you know,
- 8:09Speaker 3: running around. It's just doesn't work. Points off turnovers are horrible.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Fast break points are horrible because we have we're landlocked
- 8:18Speaker 3: at center and we're kind of landlocked at powerful or
- 8:20Speaker 3: small forward. Paul George, it's it's it's it's it's is
- 8:24Speaker 3: it is.
- 8:24Speaker 1: It the players really not executing during this time, or
- 8:28Speaker 1: is it really Nick Nurse or is it just a
- 8:30Speaker 1: combination of both, because I mean, I mean, the the
- 8:35Speaker 1: frustrating part is they have been so good putting the
- 8:39Speaker 1: ball into the basket in all of the other quarters
- 8:42Speaker 1: this season.
- 8:44Speaker 3: I don't I don't remember this with Doc Rivers, not
- 8:47Speaker 3: that Doc was a great coach here in Philly, but
- 8:49Speaker 3: like it, it started to become really obvious when Nick
- 8:54Speaker 3: Nurse came into town. And this year, Yeah, this is
- 8:56Speaker 3: the first year I've had like random people that I
- 8:59Speaker 3: know are sick fans text me.
- 9:02Speaker 2: They're af on the third quarter.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Huh.
- 9:04Speaker 3: I'm like, yeah, just like people who don't follow the
- 9:08Speaker 3: stats or do a sports podcast or even notice, like
- 9:10Speaker 3: what the fuck are they doing this quarter? They were
- 9:13Speaker 3: up six, now they're down ten, and they got us
- 9:15Speaker 3: claw their way back in the fourth and Maxi winds
- 9:18Speaker 3: up playing forty two minutes and you know, edgecum place
- 9:20Speaker 3: thirty eight as a rookie, which he shouldn't be doing, right,
- 9:23Speaker 3: And that's that's the problem, is you put those miles
- 9:25Speaker 3: on the guys in the fourth to come back from
- 9:26Speaker 3: the third quarter because you suck so bad, right, yeah.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Well, if there's one thing we're learning here in twenty
- 9:34Speaker 1: twenty five heading into twenty twenty six, this shit isn't
- 9:38Speaker 1: going to change anytime soon.
- 9:39Speaker 2: I mean, if there was, if.
- 9:40Speaker 1: There was some magical wand or mechanism to make this change,
- 9:44Speaker 1: I'm sure Nick Nurse and the six Ers organization would
- 9:47Speaker 1: be getting this done.
- 9:48Speaker 3: I just don't think it's going to change anytime soon.
- 9:50Speaker 3: So no, it's frustrating. It's frustrating. Look, I, as.
- 9:56Speaker 1: I mentioned to you, we're talking about what we wanted
- 9:58Speaker 1: to do with this particular show, the last one of
- 10:01Speaker 1: the year. I told you that I came across something,
- 10:05Speaker 1: and I'd love to know if other folks who are
- 10:08Speaker 1: listening to this podcast have heard of this. I am
- 10:12Speaker 1: absolutely enamored by this growing community of people. So wait, actually,
- 10:17Speaker 1: let me, let me let me go back. So for
- 10:19Speaker 1: years and years, there have been individuals who are getting
- 10:24Speaker 1: ready to pass away, and they are getting all their
- 10:28Speaker 1: things taken care of, getting their their estate in order,
- 10:33Speaker 1: they are getting their grave plots, they're getting their gravestones,
- 10:37Speaker 1: and on their gravestones they actually have recipes like on
- 10:42Speaker 1: the back of their gravestones, like family recipes, recipes that
- 10:45Speaker 1: are special to them or like kind of family heirloom
- 10:48Speaker 1: type of recipes.
- 10:50Speaker 2: This is becoming more and more of a phenomenon. This
- 10:52Speaker 2: is becoming more and more of a thing. I heard
- 10:54Speaker 2: about this and I kind of started diving into it
- 10:56Speaker 2: one because I because I don't know if it's because
- 10:59Speaker 2: of the bizarre nature of it or because I'm intrigued by
- 11:04Speaker 2: it as well. I think it might be a little
- 11:05Speaker 2: bit of both.
- 11:07Speaker 1: But as a result of people putting family recipes and
- 11:11Speaker 1: their own recipes on the back of their gravestones, there's
- 11:13Speaker 1: this community of people who are going like cemetery hopping
- 11:19Speaker 1: and cemetery exploring. They're also food enthusiasts as well who
- 11:25Speaker 1: are seeking out these recipes on engraved gravestones here. And
- 11:30Speaker 1: what they're doing is they're trying to honor that person,
- 11:36Speaker 1: trying to preserve that person's family history. They do a
- 11:39Speaker 1: little deep dive into them, They get online, see who
- 11:42Speaker 1: they are, what they meant to their community, and they
- 11:45Speaker 1: create these tangible connections to these individuals through the taste
- 11:51Speaker 1: of food and through their memory, and there's like an
- 11:54Speaker 1: online community that gets together. Somebody actually wrote a book
- 11:58Speaker 1: about this believe it or not. It's called to Die
- 12:01Speaker 1: for a cookbook of gravestone recipes, and people are like
- 12:06Speaker 1: cemetery hopping, like getting into this Eric and I just
- 12:10Speaker 1: thought this was one of the most bizarre things that
- 12:12Speaker 1: I actually learned in twenty twenty five. I don't know
- 12:16Speaker 1: if you have, if you've heard about this at all.
- 12:20Speaker 3: No, I mean it almost sounds like the beginning of
- 12:22Speaker 3: like a Twilight Zone empiasode.
- 12:23Speaker 2: It kind of does.
- 12:24Speaker 3: From back in the sixties. No, the first time I
- 12:27Speaker 3: heard about it was when we all hung out a
- 12:30Speaker 3: couple of days ago.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Yeah, you mentioned I mentioned it real quick. Yeah, yeah,
- 12:34Speaker 2: And I had a lot of questions.
- 12:35Speaker 3: It was just like yeah, and a lot of thoughts,
- 12:37Speaker 3: like like, first of all, anyone who's an enthusiasts bout
- 12:40Speaker 3: anything foodies in particular, Yeah, it can tend to be
- 12:45Speaker 3: weird people eccentric eccentric. Yeah, it's a good term for it.
- 12:53Speaker 3: And like how like one one thought I had was like, well,
- 12:57Speaker 3: how do they know who has a recipe on the tombstone? Yeah?
- 13:02Speaker 2: Like like do.
- 13:03Speaker 3: They go out and like do they go out and
- 13:09Speaker 3: scout graveyards right and look for recipes or like.
- 13:13Speaker 1: There are apparently. So there are some social media hubs
- 13:17Speaker 1: out there, for instance, like groups on Facebook. There is
- 13:20Speaker 1: a group called the the Graveyard Recipe Club, and they
- 13:25Speaker 1: use a lot of hashtags like for TikTok followers and
- 13:28Speaker 1: stuff like that. Grave talk is a hashtag that folks
- 13:33Speaker 1: can use to find these I know, dude, this is
- 13:37Speaker 1: so bizarre to me. And through that book that I
- 13:40Speaker 1: just mentioned to die for a cookbook of gravestone recipes.
- 13:44Speaker 1: It's by a woman named Rosie Grant. By the way,
- 13:46Speaker 1: if anybody's interested in looking at that, she has a
- 13:50Speaker 1: bunch of different not only recipes within the cookbook, but
- 13:53Speaker 1: where those grave sites are located throughout the United States.
- 13:57Speaker 1: So I think there's TikTok, an Instagram account called ghostly
- 14:03Speaker 1: Archive where people can could check this out as well.
- 14:07Speaker 1: So there's an online community that's really dedicated to this.
- 14:10Speaker 1: If people want to dive into it.
- 14:12Speaker 3: Do they get do they make the food and like
- 14:16Speaker 3: get together with other.
- 14:17Speaker 1: People sometimes sometimes yeah, or it or it just might
- 14:21Speaker 1: be an individual or maybe they bring their family into
- 14:23Speaker 1: it and say we're going to you know, Jane Smith,
- 14:28Speaker 1: We're going to cook this corn bread recipe. Hold on, yes,
- 14:33Speaker 1: Jane Smith yes, rest in peace, all right, show your
- 14:35Speaker 1: respect exactly exactly.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Shame on me for same.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Do some of these recipes on the backs of the
- 14:45Speaker 3: tombstone are on the they're on the front, right, they'd
- 14:47Speaker 3: be crazy.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I think they're on the back, mostly on the back.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Because like your name's on the back of the recipes
- 14:52Speaker 3: in the front.
- 14:55Speaker 2: They stir fry, you know, like are.
- 14:58Speaker 3: They like online recipes where they put like where they
- 15:00Speaker 3: went on vacation last summer, and then at the very
- 15:05Speaker 3: bottom is the is the recipe?
- 15:06Speaker 1: Like I would love that, if ever the case, I
- 15:09Speaker 1: don't know, I don't think that.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I think it's just the recipe and I think it's
- 15:12Speaker 2: the it's just.
- 15:14Speaker 3: You know, it's probably old school ones like and deep
- 15:16Speaker 3: in the family kind of thing.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Yes, yes, okay, yeah, And.
- 15:19Speaker 1: It's a way for the folks who were involved in
- 15:21Speaker 1: this community looking this stuff up, Like they'll dive into
- 15:24Speaker 1: a person's history, who they were to their community, or
- 15:28Speaker 1: what they did with their life, their life, where they worked,
- 15:33Speaker 1: you know, if they had any sort of influence within
- 15:35Speaker 1: their you know, their city that they lived in or
- 15:37Speaker 1: or whatever their community, and it's it's about really kind
- 15:41Speaker 1: of just bringing that all together learning about somebody's history,
- 15:44Speaker 1: and it's it's for history buffs too. And look, I'm
- 15:47Speaker 1: somebody who loves history. I'm not diving into this stuff
- 15:50Speaker 1: really too. And I love food too, obviously, but but
- 15:55Speaker 1: but I'm not really going to dive into this. I
- 15:57Speaker 1: just thought it was so bizarre.
- 15:59Speaker 2: It is bizarre, and like, I don't know about you.
- 16:03Speaker 3: I've been to grave sites graveyards to go see family
- 16:08Speaker 3: and stuff dead, obviously out from a goth family. We
- 16:16Speaker 3: just hang out, bring a cauldron with you. We're just
- 16:21Speaker 3: listening to type on egg It is great now, Butler, Yeah, yeah,
- 16:27Speaker 3: but like I just I'm always weird about like trying
- 16:30Speaker 3: to go like my like my Nana and Pop Popper
- 16:33Speaker 3: buried in Redding right next to one another, and it's
- 16:35Speaker 3: a massive It's huge, and and there's kind of like
- 16:38Speaker 3: a guide in the front trying to figure out where
- 16:41Speaker 3: they are. And I just feel weird walking to it
- 16:44Speaker 3: because it's not in the middle that I'm walking on
- 16:46Speaker 3: other people I know like that that wears me out.
- 16:49Speaker 3: And then to go in there and be like, oh,
- 16:52Speaker 3: where's Jane Smith. I need a chicken souper recipe?
- 16:55Speaker 2: Just walking over walking over grapese like.
- 17:00Speaker 1: That.
- 17:01Speaker 3: That's that's the part is the most is like, that's weird. Yeah,
- 17:04Speaker 3: that part is weird.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Some of the cemetery curators actually know where these recipes
- 17:09Speaker 1: are within and they can actually help somebody get to it,
- 17:13Speaker 1: Like these cemetery explorers and these cemetery hoppers, they can
- 17:18Speaker 1: actually these curators can actually tell them where to go
- 17:20Speaker 1: in the cemetery to get the recipe on the gravestone.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Man, it's just it's tell you what, it's really intriguing.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Airing people's fucking expensive.
- 17:29Speaker 3: Yeah, so like how much actually you got to pay
- 17:31Speaker 3: for the recipe on the back of the tombstone.
- 17:33Speaker 2: It's gotta be like an extra grand.
- 17:34Speaker 1: It's got to be, seriously, it has to be. Yeah.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Can I just say my one thing I'm grateful for
- 17:41Speaker 3: in twenty twenty five is my parents came to me
- 17:44Speaker 3: earlier this year and said, hey, we got you a president.
- 17:47Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, okay, go ahead, and they're like, we
- 17:49Speaker 3: bought our own grave sites.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Yes, like last.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Week they bought them any town gap because my dad
- 17:56Speaker 3: was in a military Yeah, and yeah, they bought their
- 17:59Speaker 3: own their own things. And so when they when they
- 18:03Speaker 3: go my brother and I just have to like get
- 18:06Speaker 3: the urn sticking in the thing.
- 18:08Speaker 2: There you go.
- 18:08Speaker 3: It's still gonna cost money to burn him. Yeah, you know,
- 18:10Speaker 3: whatever you do. But like, but that was one of
- 18:13Speaker 3: my favorite, one of my best gift I got this year.
- 18:16Speaker 2: It's a great that they paid for them.
- 18:20Speaker 1: It's like, isn't it like fifteen twenty thousand dollars to
- 18:23Speaker 1: like have a memorial service bury somebody? You know, It's
- 18:27Speaker 1: it's really expensive. You can go into debt just burying
- 18:30Speaker 1: your your loved ones.
- 18:32Speaker 2: I didn't. I didn't hold on.
- 18:34Speaker 3: I think VJ just hit a game winning three?
- 18:36Speaker 2: Did he? Really?
- 18:38Speaker 3: Did he?
- 18:39Speaker 2: That's why we stand Jeff, Oh there's one second left
- 18:45Speaker 2: in overtime or point one?
- 18:47Speaker 3: I can't.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's what happens, guys.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, Yeah that's yes. Boy, we just went
- 18:54Speaker 1: from graveyards to v to VJ hitting the three.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Yeah. But no, that was an awesome gift.
- 19:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like, oh, that just got to a drawer
- 19:06Speaker 3: or something and then I'm done. Yeah, So leave.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Us a comment if you're watching on YouTube about this.
- 19:12Speaker 2: I want to hear different folks.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I mean, have you ever heard of this, like cemetery
- 19:17Speaker 1: hopping recipes on the back of gravestones and this entire
- 19:22Speaker 1: online community. I'd love to hear from you. Leave us
- 19:25Speaker 1: a comment if you're watching on YouTube, and if you're
- 19:27Speaker 1: not watching on YouTube and you want to get in
- 19:28Speaker 1: touch with us, shoot us off an email. Philadelphia Sports
- 19:31Speaker 1: Table at gmail dot com. Love to love to hear
- 19:33Speaker 1: from you. I mean, what are some things you learned
- 19:37Speaker 1: here twenty twenty five, anything like this?
- 19:41Speaker 3: I mean that one's that one's kind of macab. Yeah,
- 19:46Speaker 3: we're going to cover a couple like categories here the
- 19:49Speaker 3: macab but historical kind of thing. Yeah.
- 19:52Speaker 2: That's that's kind of become very big in this country.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Is that. You know, there's a lot of like bars
- 20:00Speaker 3: into like dark like death kind of stuff, but like
- 20:04Speaker 3: not not like not like horror film, but like like
- 20:07Speaker 3: the Coffin Bar in Lancaster. We went there, yes, yeah,
- 20:10Speaker 3: and it great. Yeah, it was cool. But I have
- 20:15Speaker 3: I have one here that's more scientific. And this one
- 20:18Speaker 3: jumped out to me. I read about this earlier the year,
- 20:20Speaker 3: kind of forgot about it and then you know, we
- 20:22Speaker 3: talked about doing the show and I was like, let
- 20:23Speaker 3: mean go me go find that one. And it's it's
- 20:26Speaker 3: something you're going to start watching people closer when you're talking. Okay,
- 20:32Speaker 3: because it's stuck for some reason, this study that was
- 20:35Speaker 3: done earlier this year at Concording University, it really stuck
- 20:38Speaker 3: with me. And it's they they did a they had
- 20:41Speaker 3: fifty adults and they tested the how much how much
- 20:46Speaker 3: people like, how much blinking people do when they're trying
- 20:50Speaker 3: to listen to somebody really listen and understand, And they
- 20:54Speaker 3: found that it's that that blinking is based is based
- 21:00Speaker 3: more on cognitive I'm having in front of me, because
- 21:02Speaker 3: I don't want to get wrong cognitive demands rather than
- 21:06Speaker 3: how light changes or our need to blink, like get
- 21:10Speaker 3: dry or something like that. We have to like, you know,
- 21:11Speaker 3: do that. But people who are truly really trying to
- 21:15Speaker 3: listen to somebody understand, they blink far less. And in
- 21:20Speaker 3: the rooms like they had bright light here, they had
- 21:22Speaker 3: other rooms where there was pitch black, and they found
- 21:24Speaker 3: that people blinked at the same rate pretty much regardless
- 21:28Speaker 3: of light, regardless of like if someone had drier eyes
- 21:33Speaker 3: than someone else. And it basically like I never thought
- 21:37Speaker 3: about this, but if someone is really listening to you,
- 21:39Speaker 3: you're talking like and they're kind of like this like
- 21:41Speaker 3: watching you, you'll not like they don't blink as much
- 21:44Speaker 3: if they're really listening and trying to understand what you're saying.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Even with like even especially if there's like sound, if
- 21:50Speaker 3: it was like dissonant sounds, like crowd sounds or something,
- 21:53Speaker 3: they'll they'll be more prone to keep their eyes open.
- 21:56Speaker 3: But it it it jumped out to me that like
- 22:00Speaker 3: has nothing to do with light.
- 22:01Speaker 2: I mean, of course, if you.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Have a light right here, you're gonna blink right right right,
- 22:05Speaker 3: But natural light in a room or no light at all,
- 22:09Speaker 3: or even like if you're if your eyes are like
- 22:12Speaker 3: kind of itchy, you still your body's still more prone
- 22:16Speaker 3: if you're you.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Know, if you have cognitive like there's some people.
- 22:19Speaker 3: In the countries they don't have that going right, really
- 22:23Speaker 3: trying to understand like the people, people won't blink as much.
- 22:26Speaker 3: So if you're talking to somebody and you're trying to
- 22:29Speaker 3: really get into something and they're like this, like then
- 22:31Speaker 3: you know, like either stupid or not listening.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Right, Eric was blinking a lot there before you listen
- 22:36Speaker 1: into the audio, I should just start like blinking my
- 22:38Speaker 1: ass off when you're talking on this show.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Just oh really, really. Oh, Jeff, that's interesting. Yeah, it's great. Yeah,
- 22:48Speaker 2: more sixers.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Yeah, what's like when you go on by the Eagles, Like,
- 22:53Speaker 3: I'm just like, right, no, no clazing out forty eight
- 22:57Speaker 3: minutes into the postgame show, Oh my god, I'm going
- 23:03Speaker 3: over third quarter status, yes, minutes.
- 23:07Speaker 1: It's it's interesting you mentioned this because in the field
- 23:13Speaker 1: of communications that I've worked in and for so many years,
- 23:17Speaker 1: it's it's kind of like an unspoken part of of
- 23:21Speaker 1: just communications in general. I think when you're when you're
- 23:25Speaker 1: like I because like, I've actually read a bunch of
- 23:27Speaker 1: articles not necessarily on blinking, but making sure that you
- 23:33Speaker 1: are connecting with somebody who's telling a story to you
- 23:36Speaker 1: in any way, whatever the story is, whether it's something
- 23:40Speaker 1: work related, whether it's something that you know, a family
- 23:43Speaker 1: members talking to you about. Just the the insistence on
- 23:50Speaker 1: looking somebody in the eye. Actually like but but you
- 23:54Speaker 1: can get too creepy with it. You can like, oh
- 23:59Speaker 1: my gosh, that's really boy, that's great news. That's my
- 24:04Speaker 1: eyes are bugging out here.
- 24:05Speaker 2: I think if they bug out it's a tally difference.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Absolutely absolutely, But it's it's it's a really interesting study
- 24:12Speaker 1: that you just like mentioned there because like there's something
- 24:16Speaker 1: to it. And I think things have changed a little
- 24:19Speaker 1: bit too since COVID, since so many of us just
- 24:22Speaker 1: don't get together with folks as much anymore. We don't
- 24:24Speaker 1: get together with people as much. We don't really have
- 24:26Speaker 1: one to one conversations or even like group of times
- 24:29Speaker 1: conversations with people as much as we used to. We
- 24:31Speaker 1: just don't, you know, We're just more of an online
- 24:33Speaker 1: world anymore. And I think because of that, it's it's
- 24:37Speaker 1: it's easy for people to get uncomfortable, and if you're
- 24:40Speaker 1: seeing somebody blinking their ass off, they're just like, it's
- 24:45Speaker 1: it's a really interesting it's a really interesting phenomenon that
- 24:48Speaker 1: you just mentioned.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Well, I watched a lot of murder mystery things. Yeah,
- 24:52Speaker 3: and whenever there's an interrogation.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Yeah, like the true crime stuff.
- 24:57Speaker 3: You mean, yeah, if the guy's not a complete narcissistic sociopath, right,
- 25:02Speaker 3: who can just do this the whole time? Ye, if
- 25:05Speaker 3: they're guilty and they're like normal people, like, they'll tend
- 25:07Speaker 3: to be like like.
- 25:10Speaker 2: That kind of thing.
- 25:10Speaker 3: But I think it also it was interesting to me
- 25:13Speaker 3: because I was like, I know, okay, one of our
- 25:16Speaker 3: best friends, Dave, I'd say, is an introvert a little bit?
- 25:20Speaker 2: They cant hit the nail on the.
- 25:21Speaker 3: Head there, buddy, I'm kind of in the middle. You're
- 25:25Speaker 3: way up here, they way down here.
- 25:28Speaker 2: I think jay Len and I are in.
- 25:29Speaker 3: The middle somewhere in there. But like, even an introvert
- 25:34Speaker 3: is a hard time looking at somebody all the time.
- 25:36Speaker 3: I think if you didn't further study, you notice like
- 25:40Speaker 3: if they were looking down a bunch because they have
- 25:42Speaker 3: a hard time with eye contact. Yeah, they're not blinking,
- 25:45Speaker 3: but they're not looking at you. They're trying to listen.
- 25:48Speaker 3: They're trying. Like that study kind of proves that even
- 25:51Speaker 3: an introvert is totally listening to you, yeah, and trying
- 25:54Speaker 3: to understand what you're saying, and they're probably not blinking as.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Much if you're talking about something interesting and that like.
- 25:59Speaker 3: The quarter success stats. So yeah, interesting. I like this.
- 26:03Speaker 2: It's a great topic. It's a great topic.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Leave us a comment, watching on Facebook or if you're watching, yeah,
- 26:10Speaker 1: let us know what you think about this too. We'd
- 26:13Speaker 1: love to get some more comments on our Facebook or
- 26:16Speaker 1: Facebook on our YouTube channel here.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Huh those old people on the Facebook. I'm off the Facebook,
- 26:21Speaker 2: you are. I got rid of it this year. Yeah,
- 26:24Speaker 2: if I didn't have my job, I'd be off of
- 26:26Speaker 2: it in the second. I really would. It was like
- 26:29Speaker 2: one too many.
- 26:31Speaker 3: The boss of Facebook Zuckerberg. Yeah, it's like stealing your
- 26:34Speaker 3: data and ship and I'm like, oh, I'm out.
- 26:37Speaker 1: This is ridiculous, stealing, stealing our data, stealing who we are,
- 26:41Speaker 1: and and make it just making what hundreds of millions
- 26:46Speaker 1: of dollars and bunkers throughout the world bunk Yeah, okay, Zuck,
- 26:50Speaker 1: why do you think you need a bunker?
- 26:53Speaker 2: Like, what do you think is going to happen here?
- 26:54Speaker 2: Why people want to kill him?
- 26:56Speaker 3: Yeah, not me, not Jeff. I'm just saying there's people,
- 26:59Speaker 3: the public. That's why all these idiots are trying to
- 27:02Speaker 3: get the Mars.
- 27:03Speaker 1: I know, I'm spending money on great stuff like bunkers
- 27:07Speaker 1: when they have so much to help help the world.
- 27:10Speaker 2: If you wanted to. But no, hundreds of millions of
- 27:13Speaker 2: dollars in a bunker.
- 27:15Speaker 3: They studied, they study the French Revolution at some point. Yeah, no,
- 27:19Speaker 3: the guillotine things. Yes, maybe one day, let's build a bunker.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Let's go to fucking Mars. There you go, Let's uh yeah,
- 27:26Speaker 3: let's go to SpaceX whatever. That fucking idiot wants to
- 27:29Speaker 3: do exactly.
- 27:30Speaker 1: That's what they The percent of us probably gonna get
- 27:33Speaker 1: really upset with the one percent at some point, you know,
- 27:36Speaker 1: like really upset.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Finally we're we're getting to the leftist socialist thing.
- 27:43Speaker 2: I want this podcast to be.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Oh that's that's for the folks who are monitoring me,
- 27:50Speaker 1: by the way, because of the care that that's for you.
- 27:52Speaker 1: That's for you folks who are monitoring this, because yes,
- 27:56Speaker 1: that's right. I know you're out there, folks, you're monitoring
- 27:59Speaker 1: what I'm doing, what I'm saying.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Point your anger at me, you morons.
- 28:05Speaker 3: I'll take it. I don't care.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Well we learned something else, didn't we
- 28:11Speaker 2: a couple of days.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Ago when we got together.
- 28:13Speaker 2: I have some other ones. Oh you have some other ones.
- 28:15Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Yeah, we're gonna we're gonna close.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Because I think that's the closer. That one is incredible.
- 28:20Speaker 2: That one of the greatest things I've ever learned in
- 28:22Speaker 2: my life.
- 28:23Speaker 3: We didn't make this explicit. I did already swear.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I've sworn too. Yeah, of course, yeah I did.
- 28:29Speaker 2: I did.
- 28:34Speaker 3: Jeffson was forty nine, right, correct, forty forty eight and
- 28:38Speaker 3: a half. Sure, whatever you say, exactly my birthday. But
- 28:42Speaker 3: I know it's I don't acknowledge it. Yeah so and
- 28:47Speaker 3: his voice still cracks sometimes, like my son who's thirteen.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Yes, very funny, Yeah, yes, have some y have some
- 28:55Speaker 2: Ghostbusters line. There's only zool.
- 28:58Speaker 1: There is no Dana, there's no oh Zulie you nut you?
- 29:05Speaker 2: Is that the funniest movie of all time? I know
- 29:07Speaker 2: it's not, but.
- 29:08Speaker 1: It's it's up there. It's like it's a top ten
- 29:10Speaker 1: for sure, it is.
- 29:13Speaker 3: I know people would I mean, what would people say,
- 29:16Speaker 3: like right now this, you know, the thirtieth December twenty twenty,
- 29:20Speaker 3: like all time, all time, and don't give me those
- 29:23Speaker 3: goddamn like black and White, you know the yeah yeah.
- 29:26Speaker 2: Mark's Brothers and ship like that.
- 29:30Speaker 3: Like I I still think what About Bob and Ghostbusters
- 29:32Speaker 3: are in the top ten every.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes, yes, And of course we love Caddy
- 29:39Speaker 1: Shack I mean Caddy Shacks.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah that Caddy Shacks the top five. Yeah
- 29:43Speaker 3: to be yeah, I and Slapshot is up there. But
- 29:48Speaker 3: I think goes. I think I think What About Bob
- 29:51Speaker 3: might be the funniest movie ever, and it goes stretches
- 29:53Speaker 3: like number two, like, still is It's still goddamn hilarious.
- 29:56Speaker 2: It really is. Rick Moranas when he gets those red
- 29:59Speaker 2: eyes looks at the horse.
- 30:00Speaker 1: You were all perishing flames.
- 30:07Speaker 3: That's right, this man has no dick. Yes, I love
- 30:15Speaker 3: Ghostbusters sometimes we actually should. I like, I like spores,
- 30:19Speaker 3: molds and fungus.
- 30:24Speaker 2: You didn't say the magic word? What?
- 30:27Speaker 3: What?
- 30:28Speaker 2: What is the magic word?
- 30:30Speaker 3: Please? Please?
- 30:36Speaker 2: No one has ever stacked books. This ray he's looking
- 30:42Speaker 2: at me.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Actually, before that, he goes, come in, Ray Ray.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Oh my god, all right, let's stop boring everything. Yeah,
- 30:55Speaker 2: I know exactly. The up come down already. And then
- 30:58Speaker 2: part two came out.
- 30:59Speaker 3: It's fucking horrible, horrendous slime under the ground. Yes, and
- 31:05Speaker 3: they played Jackie Wilson and everyone's happy at the end
- 31:07Speaker 3: of the movie.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. Okay, here's one. This is what you learn.
- 31:14Speaker 2: There are some random ones. I learned that a.
- 31:19Speaker 3: Like a group of flamingos is called a flamboyance. What
- 31:23Speaker 3: I saw that on Twitter like in the summer, and
- 31:26Speaker 3: it just stuck with me. I'm like, is that real?
- 31:28Speaker 3: I looked it up.
- 31:29Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, it's but.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Is that like the is that the like term for
- 31:35Speaker 3: flamboyance because because they like, I don't know, like is
- 31:39Speaker 3: that like, was that term exists first and applied to
- 31:44Speaker 3: the flamingos or was it like the chicken and the
- 31:46Speaker 3: egg thing? I don't know.
- 31:47Speaker 2: Question, good question.
- 31:49Speaker 3: I wasn't interested enough to keep going. I just because
- 31:52Speaker 3: it was, as far as I went, you just.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Just enough, just enough to keep you, keep you one,
- 32:00Speaker 1: enough to bore my friends and family, and then I
- 32:03Speaker 1: moved on.
- 32:03Speaker 3: Yeah, iNeST right, here's a good one. This one I
- 32:07Speaker 3: saw everywhere all year. You know, twenty twenty five is
- 32:12Speaker 3: a mathematically is a really weird number, and I thought
- 32:17Speaker 3: I'd see more. This is the problem with conspiracy theorists.
- 32:21Speaker 3: It's gone completely deranged and fucking and bat shit right, yeah,
- 32:26Speaker 3: like you know, I got you got Q and on.
- 32:27Speaker 3: It used to be just like used to be bigfoot
- 32:30Speaker 3: yetti jfk jfk lockness, monster, Aliens is like the Big Five.
- 32:36Speaker 3: Like when we in college, I hung out with a
- 32:38Speaker 3: lot of a lot of hothead dudes smoking out of
- 32:41Speaker 3: five foot bongs with multiple things, and eventually within two
- 32:45Speaker 3: hours it'd be like Aliens dude like that, But.
- 32:48Speaker 2: That was okay. I could I can understand.
- 32:50Speaker 3: I don't think JFK. I THINKFK Like, okay, I can,
- 32:54Speaker 3: I can, I can dig that. But now now it's
- 32:56Speaker 3: out of fucking control. Yes, but I thought I thought
- 32:59Speaker 3: more people would take this and mathematically turn it into ship,
- 33:03Speaker 3: but I didn't see it anywhere.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Okay.
- 33:04Speaker 3: So twenty twenty five is a perfect square forty five squared.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 33:10Speaker 3: Yeah, the last time this happened was nineteen thirty six
- 33:14Speaker 3: I think it was, and the next one is twenty one,
- 33:18Speaker 3: like twenty one sixteen, I think.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Okay, so it's like every HAVERIM many years.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Okay. So it is also a sum of cubes. So
- 33:27Speaker 3: if you take one cube plus two cube plus three cube,
- 33:31Speaker 3: you add them up to nine nine cube and equals
- 33:33Speaker 3: twenty twenty five.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Hid trouble in geometry. So one cube just three? Yes, yes,
- 33:40Speaker 2: two cubed is.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Four. No, that's too, that's two squared two squared two cubed.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Eight. Yes, there you go. Okay.
- 33:53Speaker 3: So if you keep adding them up and as it
- 33:54Speaker 3: goes to twenty twenty five, okay, oh my god, I
- 33:57Speaker 3: about that. And if you take twenty plus twenty five,
- 34:00Speaker 3: it's forty five forty five squared even that is like
- 34:03Speaker 3: unique to the year.
- 34:04Speaker 2: All right, okay, yeah, how about that anyway, folks.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Let us know what you think in the comments with
- 34:10Speaker 1: the nerd here, he's a nerd.
- 34:13Speaker 3: And come up with the craziest fucking conspiracy theory. Give
- 34:16Speaker 3: me some like Room two thirty seven Shining stuff here?
- 34:19Speaker 1: All right?
- 34:20Speaker 3: Yeah, oh my gosh, like those Cyco They ever see
- 34:23Speaker 3: that documentary? Those Cyco no actually watching it? Oh, it's
- 34:26Speaker 3: so good, it's like two and a half hours. These people,
- 34:28Speaker 3: these losers, have dedicated their entire lives to the movie
- 34:30Speaker 3: The Shining and they think, like the moon landing is
- 34:33Speaker 3: fake because of this movie. They think the whole movie's
- 34:36Speaker 3: about Indian burial grounds, like it's it's it's it's amazing again,
- 34:42Speaker 3: conspiracy theory has gone too far. Yes, here's a totally
- 34:46Speaker 3: minor one. I read this earlier this year. There's only
- 34:49Speaker 3: one upside down traffic light in the United States of America,
- 34:52Speaker 3: and it's in Syracuse, New York. And it's in a
- 34:56Speaker 3: very strong traditional Irish neighborhood. I forget what it's called
- 35:00Speaker 3: the neighborhood, but it's flipped upside down because they wanted
- 35:04Speaker 3: the green above the red meaning Ireland vert over.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Oh really okay, and.
- 35:10Speaker 3: It's been that way. Wow, it's like the twenties or thirties.
- 35:13Speaker 3: It's been there forever. It's still there. Wow, you can
- 35:16Speaker 3: actually put it upside down. Spotlight right or stoplight? It's
- 35:21Speaker 3: New York's Tipperary Hill in Syracuse, Okay, and it's it's
- 35:25Speaker 3: the only one in America. It's still there.
- 35:27Speaker 1: I think that's an it all right, because this is
- 35:30Speaker 1: the government nerd in me right now. There are federal laws,
- 35:34Speaker 1: believe it or not, with regard to roadways and traffic
- 35:39Speaker 1: highways and just how signage needs to be traffic lights
- 35:45Speaker 1: fall within the federal government's Department of Transportation, like purview.
- 35:50Speaker 1: And you can't just do this stuff willy nilly if
- 35:54Speaker 1: you want to. They probably had to get some special
- 35:56Speaker 1: exemption from the federal government to actually do.
- 35:59Speaker 3: This, or they were afraid of Irish hooligans or yes,
- 36:04Speaker 3: jacked up on guinnis. Exactly, come into our neighborhood, try
- 36:07Speaker 3: to flip the over fuck off.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. Take a look at this baseball bat.
- 36:14Speaker 3: I've been to New York City for Saint Pat's twice,
- 36:17Speaker 3: the raid and everything. It's the first few hours amazing.
- 36:24Speaker 3: I stood on the I stood on the steps of
- 36:26Speaker 3: the Saint Patrick Cathedral the one year.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it was right after.
- 36:29Speaker 3: It was really emotional, and the first couple, the first
- 36:32Speaker 3: couple of hours are so celebratory and like the cops
- 36:35Speaker 3: were crying, firefighters were crying. By six o'clock in the evening.
- 36:39Speaker 3: It's the scariest event I've ever been to.
- 36:42Speaker 2: My just completely transformed.
- 36:45Speaker 3: People are so fucking blitzed and packed into these Irish pubs. Yeah,
- 36:50Speaker 3: and it's like the tenth hour of the Pogues and
- 36:54Speaker 3: you're just like, I can't do this anymore. And that
- 36:57Speaker 3: guy just got punched. That cop just punched a guy.
- 37:01Speaker 2: Jesus.
- 37:02Speaker 3: I'm just pointing it out because maybe that's why they
- 37:04Speaker 3: didn't change they.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Maybe that's why they didn't change the stoplight.
- 37:07Speaker 3: I like that.
- 37:07Speaker 2: I didn't know that. I'm gonna have to check that
- 37:09Speaker 2: out in Syracuse.
- 37:10Speaker 3: Now, if you want to kick off our final.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Let's do the final bit of twenty twenty five here,
- 37:18Speaker 1: let's let's do it.
- 37:20Speaker 2: It's a little something we both.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Learned about just this past week when we got When
- 37:24Speaker 1: we got together, I am absolutely enthralled.
- 37:27Speaker 3: By this okay, okay, our buddy Dave, yes, who who
- 37:36Speaker 3: brought it to our attention.
- 37:37Speaker 1: He's a smart guy. Yeah, smart guy likes history, likes
- 37:40Speaker 1: diving in their history.
- 37:41Speaker 3: Yes, he likes it. Very smart guy. Yes, And I
- 37:43Speaker 3: can guarantee you I was staring at him, not blinking
- 37:45Speaker 3: when he was talking about this. I was like, yes,
- 37:48Speaker 3: this is fucking crazy. Yes, because I know the writer involved.
- 37:52Speaker 3: I never read any of his books. I'm not that
- 37:53Speaker 3: fucking smart, Like.
- 37:54Speaker 2: We know this writer.
- 37:55Speaker 1: A lot of people know this writer because this right,
- 37:58Speaker 1: this is a writer, folks who was very popular.
- 38:01Speaker 3: If you're a non blinker, you know who this guy is.
- 38:03Speaker 3: And I did not know what a.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Dirty, dirty bird.
- 38:12Speaker 3: But this is funny. This is really funny. When Dave
- 38:16Speaker 3: told me this thing, I told us this thing, and
- 38:18Speaker 3: I was just like, oh my god, holy crap. I
- 38:22Speaker 3: was I was just I thought about immediately, like on Twitter,
- 38:26Speaker 3: you know, since since Trump.
- 38:28Speaker 2: Won and everything.
- 38:28Speaker 3: I'm not making this political, but like Trump one, we
- 38:30Speaker 3: got these right wing lunatics who were like, this is
- 38:33Speaker 3: what they stole from you, and they'll show you this
- 38:35Speaker 3: straight white family, picket fence kind of thing. And it's
- 38:39Speaker 3: like things weren't perfect then, especially if you're black or
- 38:43Speaker 3: a woman, right right, Japanese way, whatever. But they also
- 38:49Speaker 3: think like married couples were they just they had missionaries
- 38:54Speaker 3: and had some children and that was that was you know,
- 38:58Speaker 3: Dad went off to work and.
- 38:59Speaker 1: They have relations every now and then, and it was
- 39:01Speaker 1: a it was a happy household, the you know, lunch
- 39:04Speaker 1: pail to work.
- 39:05Speaker 3: And all that sexual depravity and weirdoness. And just now
- 39:10Speaker 3: I'm not saying this is weird. I'm just people might
- 39:11Speaker 3: be in it. But I was just like it's been,
- 39:13Speaker 3: it's been in existence forever, curricula, like the Greek mythology.
- 39:19Speaker 3: It's it's fucking crazy. And then this story is just
- 39:22Speaker 3: but just it's him and what he looks like. Yes,
- 39:25Speaker 3: it's amazing.
- 39:25Speaker 1: Why don't you give us that, Give us the author
- 39:27Speaker 1: right now, give us the individual's name.
- 39:31Speaker 2: Another fellow irishman, James Irish, right, James Joyce.
- 39:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I believe so, yeah, James. A lot of
- 39:37Speaker 1: us have heard of James Joyce out there. Like you said,
- 39:39Speaker 1: I've never read really any of his stuff, but like
- 39:42Speaker 1: I kind of I just kind of know James Joyce
- 39:44Speaker 1: is he's a popular writer.
- 39:48Speaker 2: Oh that you're gonna keep going No, oh.
- 39:50Speaker 1: Okay, I can't because I'm anticipating what you're going to
- 39:54Speaker 1: be reading.
- 39:56Speaker 2: I got a I got a huge piece of Okay.
- 39:59Speaker 3: Anyway, he he fell in love with this woman named
- 40:02Speaker 3: Nora Barnacle, Yes, Nora Barnacle and an.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Odd looking woman. Not gonna lie. He was an odd
- 40:11Speaker 2: looking guy. I've seen photos of her.
- 40:14Speaker 3: I mean, look, I think it goes along with the
- 40:18Speaker 3: It might go along with the theme here that we're
- 40:20Speaker 3: going to be getting to. He's got a I'm looking
- 40:24Speaker 3: at his letter to her. He wrote really long letters.
- 40:27Speaker 3: I'm just going to say they're they're tawdry. O. They
- 40:30Speaker 3: are another word insatiable.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Is that that's another horny.
- 40:38Speaker 3: As is very not horny as you would think.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Right, because there's an angle to this here.
- 40:46Speaker 3: Yeah, he's he's I mean, he was in love with
- 40:48Speaker 3: this woman, in love with every piece of rs, especially
- 40:51Speaker 3: her rear end. And he wrote a letter to her
- 40:55Speaker 3: in December eighth, nineteen oh nine, and the first line is,
- 40:58Speaker 3: my sweet little horse, Nora, I did as you told me,
- 41:04Speaker 3: you dirty little girl, and I pulled myself off twice.
- 41:08Speaker 2: When I read your letter.
- 41:11Speaker 3: I am delighted to see that you do like being
- 41:14Speaker 3: ft r sways Jesus and it just goes my my peep.
- 41:22Speaker 3: He was stuck in there four hours in your upturned rump.
- 41:30Speaker 3: I felt your fat, sweaty buttocks under my belly, and.
- 41:36Speaker 2: It just goes on and yes and anywhere.
- 41:42Speaker 3: Yes, this is a it is wonderful to fuck farting
- 41:45Speaker 3: woman with every fun. This guy, this guy was obsessed
- 41:50Speaker 3: with Nora Barnacle and especially her her heiney and her
- 41:54Speaker 3: heiney hole. When it farted that he.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Loved her flats. I mean it was, it was a
- 42:02Speaker 1: turn on. It was I mean, this got him extremely excited,
- 42:08Speaker 1: extremely arrest and and he even like, I'm not I'm
- 42:13Speaker 1: not not making this up.
- 42:14Speaker 3: He he liked eating them basically like she would do it,
- 42:20Speaker 3: and he would just have his mouth open enough. I mean,
- 42:30Speaker 3: I mean obviously there's I mean, I'm sure Shakespeare was
- 42:32Speaker 3: into some crazy ship.
- 42:33Speaker 1: He was artists, right, A lot of artists, a lot
- 42:36Speaker 1: of artists are very eccentric.
- 42:37Speaker 2: Yeah, but I don't think he jotted it down on
- 42:41Speaker 2: a letter to uh missus Shakespeare or whatever. I don't know.
- 42:45Speaker 2: These are love letters from mister Joyce.
- 42:49Speaker 3: He he said, I want to lick this I want
- 42:51Speaker 3: to lick something like a ravenous dog, because with a
- 42:57Speaker 3: massive slime.
- 43:05Speaker 2: And this is how he closed the letter. This is
- 43:06Speaker 2: just one letter, by the way, there's just one. He
- 43:08Speaker 2: did numerous, numerous.
- 43:10Speaker 3: Good Night, my little farting Nora, my dirty little fuck bird.
- 43:18Speaker 3: He liked the term fun but he used it a
- 43:20Speaker 3: bunch of times in this letter. Yeah, and he would
- 43:23Speaker 3: typically start off. It was at least within the letters
- 43:26Speaker 3: he used it like three or four times.
- 43:29Speaker 1: So just love farts, you love Nora's farts.
- 43:34Speaker 2: I didn't get enough.
- 43:35Speaker 3: What did she do to prepare for when they went
- 43:37Speaker 3: on a date? I know, just eating a lot of
- 43:40Speaker 3: beans and very specific dinner exactly boys she I mean,
- 43:46Speaker 3: I mean she could have been lactose intlerant exactly.
- 43:51Speaker 4: No, don't take the lactate. He doesn't want that at all. Opposite, Okay,
- 43:55Speaker 4: don't want that at all. You know, have a lot
- 43:58Speaker 4: of have some cheese some okay, make make sure make
- 44:05Speaker 4: sure you're getting it really rumbling down there, you know,

- 44:38Speaker 1: by it.
- 44:40Speaker 2: Imagine his desk set up writing his novels.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Oh, could you imagine? It's just like ceramic butt cheeks
