- 0:00In a world where business moves at lightning
- 0:02speed, clinging to outdated methods and rigid
- 0:05processes is no longer an option. Many rules
- 0:09that once guided project management have become
- 0:12barriers to innovation, creativity, and success.
- 0:17And that is why I am here to shake things up.
- 0:21There's an urgent need to rethink how we get
- 0:24business projects done. It's not enough to simply
- 0:26follow the playbook written decades ago. We need
- 0:30to examine every rule and scrutinize them with
- 0:34fresh eyes. Which rules still serve us and drive
- 0:38success? Which ones need to be tweaked to fit
- 0:41the realities of today's fast -paced, ever -changing
- 0:44business environment? And, most importantly,
- 0:48which rules should we discard altogether because
- 0:52they no longer work? Welcome to a brand new podcast
- 0:56called Ignoring the Rules with Wayne Robertson
- 0:59where I don't just question the status quo, I
- 1:02shake it up. I want to welcome you to a podcast
- 1:28that is more than just about projects. It's about
- 1:31people. The old way of doing things often neglected
- 1:35the most important part of any project, the team.
- 1:38Today, it's clear that team members are the backbone
- 1:41of every successful endeavor. Their creativity,
- 1:45energy, and well -being are their real drivers
- 1:48of project success. I'm here to explore how putting
- 1:52people first. before the process, before the
- 1:56deadlines, and before the rules can lead to remarkable
- 2:00outcomes. I'm so proud to introduce this new
- 2:04podcast that has been several years in planning
- 2:06based on my almost 40 years of working in projects
- 2:09for large, medium, and small companies. I've
- 2:13been so blessed to have a rich, wide variety
- 2:17of experiences that many were very successful
- 2:19and some were just painful problems. So join
- 2:24me as I dive deep into the strategies that really
- 2:27work in today's business world. I will share
- 2:30stories, insights, and actionable advice on how
- 2:33to create a project environment where innovation
- 2:35thrives, team members feel valued, and success
- 2:39becomes the norm. It's time to break free from
- 2:43the constraints of the past and build a new future
- 2:45for project management, one where the rules we
- 2:48follow are ones that truly make a difference.
- 2:52If you work on your projects in your organization,
- 2:55whether you are an executive, middle management,
- 2:58or at the line level, this podcast will change
- 3:02your whole perspective. You can make major accomplishments
- 3:06and successes by making a few changes to your
- 3:09work. In this podcast, I'm going to lay out some
- 3:12new methodologies that I have proven will change
- 3:15how to get projects done. I worked on a wide
- 3:18variety of projects in large and small companies,
- 3:20managing teams to get a wide variety of projects
- 3:23done. And so I won't pull any punches. I'm a
- 3:28little weird at times, but that keeps it very
- 3:30interesting. Socrates made the famous statement
- 3:33in 359 BC, the unexamined life is not worth living,
- 3:40where he believed the love of wisdom was the
- 3:42most important pursuit above all else. Well,
- 3:46My version of that is the unexamined methods
- 3:49will cause the project to go poorly. Now, not
- 3:52nearly as eloquent, but I believe totally accurate.
- 3:57If you work for a for -profit company, non -profit
- 4:00organization, or government agency, the info
- 4:03in these episodes will be very helpful. Whether
- 4:06you're a line -level employee, middle management,
- 4:08or upper management, there will be new ideas
