- 0:58SPEAKER_00: And today we're going to be talking about a concept called inner standing and how we could potentially transform our perspective.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Often I will say to people that the most important relationship we have is the one with ourself.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: And what I really mean by that is cultivating a deeper understanding of self.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: So when we're able to understand who we are and how we show up in the world, that's that's an essential understanding.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Because once we do that, we can take that information about ourselves and we can move forward.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: So really what we're saying is innerstanding is this deep intuitive understanding of ourselves.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: It also gives us the ability to understand others and our experiences.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: So oftentimes we do say we need to understand ourselves better.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: And I've said that myself.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: But the difference between innerstanding and understanding, the word understanding is a cognitive process that involves learning something or being aware of something, versus inner standing takes it a level deeper.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: And it's a deeper, profound comprehension of your inner being and being able to look inside and reflect.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: It promotes personal and spiritual growth.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: It promotes that deeper awareness of what's happening for you, that deeper connection with your experiences, with your experiences with others.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: It promotes a deeper understanding of self-awareness, it promotes a deeper understanding of self-compassion and empathy, and it leads to self-acceptance.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: So, what does inner standing look like in practice?
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Well, inner standing is again the deeper understanding of oneself.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: So when we put it into practice, the way that we can practice inner standing is by really engaging in mindfulness.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: So, again, remember, mindfulness is about being in the present moment.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: It's about what's happening right now.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: So, one way that we can really practice inner standing is to allow ourselves to come into the present moment and to really pay attention to what you're actually feeling in this moment.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: What are those physical sensations?
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: What are those thoughts without judging them, using them as an indication of what's happening for you?
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: And when we do this, we're able to then potentially, with that inner standing, shift what might not be in service to us.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Another way that we can practice this is through journaling.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: Because when we journal and we put pen to paper or even type things out, we're allowing the deeper thoughts that we're having, we're we're allowing an output channel and we're allowing the ability to put it outside of our circling our thought processes, which gives us a little bit of space between the thoughts itself, so we can then start to understand and identify patterns or potentially activating events or triggers, and that again will promote inner standing.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: Self-compassion is a huge part of this when we can acknowledge that we might make mistakes, but we can come to them with the ability to ask the question of what did I learn and how can I grow through this, instead of just judgment.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: Another way that we can gain inner standing is through working with a support system, like working with a coach.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Because through coaching, it is a safe space to start exploring what is happening for you on that deeper inner self space.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: You know, allowing you space to not just become aware of certain feelings and thoughts, but then to really get curious about them and to figure out again what serves you and what doesn't serve you.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: When we think about why it's important, why innerstanding is so important is because so often we know that we're we're stuck or we're stagnant.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: And when we give ourselves permission to go deeper and to understand on that deeper level what's really happening for us, and we bring those things to the awareness, that's what's gonna promote personal growth.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: That's what's gonna move you forward.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: You know, it's one thing to read a book and to kind of surface level, say, yeah, that resonates, this doesn't resonate.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: And and I, by the way, I believe in reading those books, absolutely, but the inner standing is what takes you that level deeper.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: It's that deeper connection with self.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: And that's when when that's gonna foster and grow your inner wisdom.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: That's gonna help you make better decisions that are more aligned with yourself.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: That inner standing allows for mistakes to happen, but for you to then look at those mistakes as growth opportunities so that as life throws its challenges at you, you're not thrown off base.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: So when we when we give ourselves the ability to develop our inner standing, it does go beyond that surface level knowledge because we are able to make room for what's happening underneath.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: And it actually starts building our ability to empathize and our ability to have compassion because we're going deeper and connecting deeper.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: It allows us to change our perspective on things too, because as we understand and we become aware, we actually can start looking at things with a different lens.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: And when we start looking at things with a different lens, it no longer maybe hurts us the same way that it used to.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: Inner standing also allows you to build your own sense of self-worth.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: Because it encourages you to align with the thoughts and actions and goals that align with your core beliefs and your core values and your core needs, which then fosters the authenticity and it fosters self-growth.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: And that's this whole process of, you know, oftentimes I'm asked, well, I just need to find my worthiness or I need to feel worthy.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: This sense of inner standing absolutely encourages that.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: The other part of what happens when we build our inner standing is that it challenges us to potentially look at our thoughts or look at our feelings and ask questions about them.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: Is this really serving me?
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Is this self-criticism, is this inner critic actually helping me or is it taking me away from where I want to go?
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: Innerstanding is going to help promote that growth mindset.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: Innerstanding is gonna help encourage you to potentially make some changes and shifts and also help you look towards how do I align with my my values.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: In addition, inner standing encourages you to really be your true self, align with the behaviors and the beliefs and the values that are actually yours.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: And it does allow us and challenge us to be more present in this moment rather than consistently ruminating over the past or worrying about the future.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: And it's important to recognize that this concept of understanding, this deeper sense of acceptance of self does begin with your willingness to go there, right?
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: Because sometimes it's difficult and it's not exactly fun to learn about what false beliefs might be hiding in the background.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: But if you're willing to go there and you're willing to go on that journey of innerstanding, it can absolutely open up so many possibilities for you.
