[SPEAKER_02]: Hey everybody, welcome back to the Graeme Walk and Lane podcast where queer friends and allies gather to review and discuss the original X-Men comics in continuity order.
• 0:16
[SPEAKER_02]: I am thrilled to be welcoming to new friends to the show.
• 0:20
[SPEAKER_02]: People I've been fans of, tangentially for a long time, it's always such a delight to get to know creators and to pair creators who don't know each other together, so we get to have a lovely time today.
• 0:30
[SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, hey everyone, you never thought it would happen, but today is the Wood God episode of Graham Alkin Land somewhere, taking a few really odd journeys.
• 0:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Now for my guests here, there was a couple months ago where I featured Rex Ogle and Andrew Wheeler on the show for the first time.
• 0:45
[SPEAKER_02]: In the issue we read was the Power Packed Eterns, which is the elephant variant of the X-Men and another world.
• 0:51
[SPEAKER_02]: And they both went, what did you make me read?
• 0:53
[SPEAKER_02]: And you both may feel that way about our Wood God content.
• 0:59
[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm thrilled to be welcoming Jordan Morris at Elite of Martinez to the show.
• 1:03
[SPEAKER_02]: Let me have you both introduce yourselves.
• 1:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Let us know your pronouns.
• 1:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Tell us a little about your origin to the X-Men if you're a fan and to getting your first gig at Marvel Comics, if you would.
• 1:15
[SPEAKER_05]: Hi, thank you for having me on the show, pronouns he, him, the X-Men.
• 1:22
[SPEAKER_05]: I'm a 90s kid, so like that was a very exciting time for the X-Men, all those great Chris Claremont comics, of course, but also yeah, that great Fox Kids TV show and a lot of video games.
• 1:36
[SPEAKER_05]: You had that great, kind of multiplayer arcade cabinet that you would see at Chuck E. Cheese and some good Sega
• 1:44
  [SPEAKER_05]: Genesis games.
• 1:45
[SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, just a lot of great X men.
• 1:48
[SPEAKER_05]: And yeah, if you're like a nerdy kid who loves that stuff, you're just like, all that stuff just ensured you were locked in for life.
• 1:54
[SPEAKER_02]: So I got to play that arcade game recently with like no quarters, and I beat it because I died 10.
• 2:00
  [SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
• 2:03
  [SPEAKER_05]: a a challenging game.
• 2:05
[SPEAKER_05]: It was there to take your quarters, but congratulations.
• 2:08
  [SPEAKER_05]: Who's the last boss?
• 2:10
[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe I never made it.
• 2:11
  [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I mean, yeah.
• 2:12
  [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
• 2:12
  [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
• 2:13
  [SPEAKER_05]: Well, congratulations.
• 2:15
  [SPEAKER_05]: I'm very impressed.
• 2:16
  [SPEAKER_05]: You're a better man than I.
• 2:17
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and my I have been writing for Marvel Comics.
• 2:21
  [SPEAKER_05]: It's kind of a recent thing.
• 2:23
  [SPEAKER_05]: It's a very exciting thing.
• 2:24
[SPEAKER_05]: My first Marvel thing was for a Spidey Anthology called Web of Spiderverse, New Blood.
• 2:31
[SPEAKER_05]: And that was just kind of three kind of alternate reality, Spidey stories.
• 2:36
[SPEAKER_05]: The one of which ended up tying into a bigger event they were doing.
• 2:39
[SPEAKER_05]: But mine was just kind of a one and done.
• 2:41
[SPEAKER_05]: I did it with a artist named Sumit Kumar.
• 2:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, these were kind of just, uh, it's Mary Jane Van Helsing.
• 2:48
  [SPEAKER_02]: That's what it was.
• 2:48
  [SPEAKER_05]: Mary Jane Van Helsing.
• 2:49
  [SPEAKER_05]: Yes.
• 2:50
  [SPEAKER_05]: Very good.
• 2:51
  [SPEAKER_05]: Uh, a true fan.
• 2:52
[SPEAKER_05]: You love to see it.
• 2:53
  [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
• 2:53
[SPEAKER_05]: This was a kind of my, my pitch to the Marvel folks, or I guess, specifically editor Jordan G. White.
• 2:59
[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, the pitch was, uh, Spider-Man, but make him in 80s punk rock vampire.
• 3:03
[SPEAKER_05]: So like, lost boys and, uh, near dark and all those great 80s vampire movies.
• 3:08
  [SPEAKER_05]: I thought, you know,
• 3:09
[SPEAKER_05]: Bring it a little of that vibe to the Spidey to the spiderverse would be a ton of fun.
• 3:13
[SPEAKER_05]: And yeah, that was my first Marvel gig and I've gotten to do some really cool stuff since then.
• 3:17
[SPEAKER_02]: I had George Warden way one of my favorite people.
• 3:21
  [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, a wonderful man.
• 3:22
[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you so much for having me.
• 3:24
  [SPEAKER_04]: My name's Lisa Martinez.
• 3:25
[SPEAKER_04]: I always say I'm just a comment book artist.
• 3:28
[SPEAKER_04]: My pronouns are she or God of all.
• 3:34
  [SPEAKER_04]: on McLean, X-Men.
• 3:36
[SPEAKER_04]: Now that's interesting because in Curacao where I grew up, so I came to America here when I was 12 years old, there were no comic books.
• 3:43
[SPEAKER_04]: So I had no early exposure to comic.
• 3:46
[SPEAKER_04]: And then when I finally saw one, and the first book I did see was an X-Men book drawn by Jim Lee.
• 3:51
[SPEAKER_04]: It was on the stand in 7-11, you know, they said you went to buy gas because the parents don't want to get out of the car.
• 3:58
  [SPEAKER_04]: So you have...
• 3:59
[SPEAKER_04]: the dash across that very dangerous parking lot because, you know, back in the, you know, 80s, 90s, they didn't care if they ran a kid over, please, not at all.
• 4:08
[SPEAKER_04]: So I saw this thing and I'm like, please, I want to buy this.
• 4:11
[SPEAKER_04]: They're like, no, you can't have this.
• 4:13
[SPEAKER_04]: And then I'm, oh, no, why can't I have it because that's the chingo.
• 4:17
  [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm like, oh.
• 4:18
  [SPEAKER_05]: what's that?
• 4:18
[SPEAKER_04]: But so I was I was very much a person who had to hide my love of this American craft call comments because I always know I wanted to draw, but they don't bring you to this country to draw.
• 4:29
[SPEAKER_04]: You have to be a doctor, a lawyer, or an electrical engineer, or nothing else.
• 4:34
[SPEAKER_04]: have to go back home.
• 4:35
[SPEAKER_04]: You're one of those failed kids.
• 4:36
[SPEAKER_04]: You need to go back home there and just pick bananas or whatever.
• 4:40
[SPEAKER_04]: You can't be here in this country.
• 4:41
[SPEAKER_04]: So I lied for a while and pretended I wanted to do the doctor track.
• 4:45
  [SPEAKER_04]: Uh-huh.
• 4:45
[SPEAKER_04]: You got those good grades in school while drawing in the margins of my notebook because no one's going to actually take you to an art store to buy supplies.
• 4:53
  [SPEAKER_04]: It's like, that's not happening.
• 4:54
  [SPEAKER_04]: Forget that.
• 4:55
[SPEAKER_04]: And then finally, I burst out and going to do this
• 4:58
[SPEAKER_04]: grandfather who was paying for college for everybody at the time said you are on your own.
• 5:03
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, oh, well, so I packed a double bag and the guitar and moved to New York City all by myself to pursue this career in comics.
• 5:11
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you should have told me a couple things first.
• 5:14
[SPEAKER_04]: One, girls don't draw comics.
• 5:16
  [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that yeah.
• 5:17
  [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
• 5:17
  [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
• 5:18
  [SPEAKER_05]: That's not a hard way.
• 5:19
  [SPEAKER_04]: Uh-huh.
• 5:19
[SPEAKER_04]: So I walked around my portfolio showing it to people.
• 5:23
[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't know what to do to get a portfolio ready.
• 5:25
[SPEAKER_04]: I found my way to how it should be done and went to a convention, showed it to Jim Lee, showed it to Jocacata, got a phone call on Monday.
• 5:34
[SPEAKER_04]: Jim Lee, see, we got to come all the way to California and like I just got to New York.
• 5:37
  [SPEAKER_04]: This was hard enough.
• 5:38
[SPEAKER_04]: And Jococata called me said he's going to give me a trial by fire.
• 5:42
[SPEAKER_04]: And I became his ghost for Osriel Ash first with DC Comics.
• 5:46
[SPEAKER_04]: Publishing that at the time.
• 5:47
[SPEAKER_04]: And then when he came into Marvel Knights, I ghosted underneath him for the all of that first Daredevil run for Black Widow.
• 5:56
[SPEAKER_04]: And my first credited work was Black Panther with Mark Kixterra.
• 6:02
[SPEAKER_04]: And then I got Iron Man.
• 6:04
[SPEAKER_02]: What I was researching your career, I was genuinely surprised to realize how far back your journey at Marvel went all the way to late nineties back when I was teen picking up the books off the shelf right I think all three of us are of a similar age, but Jordan the fact
• 6:19
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm most excited to talk to you about it.
• 6:21
[SPEAKER_02]: I've referenced this all the show recently.
• 6:23
[SPEAKER_02]: I grew up in the Missouri Ozarks.
• 6:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Lots of mornings watching Saturday morning cartoons by myself and one of the most formative things from my childhood outside of the super friends was the Hannah Barbarra cartoons and there was a particular program called the Laff Olympics that like mixed all of the characters together in Olympic style sports.
• 6:41
  [SPEAKER_02]: So you'd have like dirt-dastered
• 6:46
[SPEAKER_02]: And you got to do some really fun stuff with the jellystone mashup like Lafalypics world.
• 6:51
[SPEAKER_02]: What was it like jumping into this face of Hannah Barbarra and creating that kind of in the animated cartoon format?
• 6:57
  [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, sure.
• 6:59
[SPEAKER_05]: In addition to comics, I also write a lot of animation and one of the most fun animation gigs I've ever had has been a great show called Jellystone.
• 7:07
[SPEAKER_05]: uh... streaming now on your HBO Max and occasionally airing on the cartoon network uh... yet this was so much fun it is if you haven't seen the show it is a kind of mash up of hannabar baric characters some of them well known yogi boobu et cetera and then some obscure deep cuts were talking squiddly didly were talking jabber jaw were talking captain caveman i was a guy and give men tank top i were the gym all the time oh heck yeah
• 7:34
[SPEAKER_05]: You scream Captain Caveman before you start like this Incredible, so yeah, I was you know a big big cartoon fan a big animation fan and when they asked me to do the job I felt like you just unlocked a chamber of my brain that had been dormant for years and it was Obscure Hannah barbaric characters and I yeah I don't know.
• 7:55
  [SPEAKER_05]: I'm like huh.
• 7:56
[SPEAKER_05]: I guess I do know a lot about these weirdos and it was so much fun because You know first of all a great staff on that show
• 8:04
[SPEAKER_05]: Carl Greenblatt was the kind of head writer and creator and such a cool funny Generous fun guy to work with and yeah, it was just it was just a blast I think they wanted the spirit of those old cartoons to be this to be the same which is like just funny crazy Cartoon logic doesn't have to make sense in fact they kind of preferred it if it didn't make sense Which is a really like kind of fun directive to get from above
• 8:26
[SPEAKER_02]: How does that kind of like teen titans go kind of humor and energy, big pop animation with some really genuinely funny moments.
• 8:34
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, part 20 crazy.
• 8:35
  [SPEAKER_02]: It's a fun.
• 8:36
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's a fun.
• 8:36
  [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it's a fun.
• 8:37
  [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it's a fun.
• 8:37
  [SPEAKER_05]: It's a fun.
• 8:37
  [SPEAKER_05]: It's a fun.
• 8:38
  [SPEAKER_05]: It's a fun.
• 8:39
  [SPEAKER_05]: It's a fun.
• 8:40
  [SPEAKER_05]: It's a fun.
• 8:43
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, yeah, I just I like that style so much and yeah, I don't know it was a blast all those old characters are so goofy and fun and like if you don't remember their specific adventures You definitely remember their theme songs a lot of their like theme songs were it may be better than the actual shows So yeah, it was really fun to just like remember that weird old pocket of animation and like get to make that goofy show with the bunch of fun people
• 9:07
[SPEAKER_02]: We live in such an age of like nostalgia porn right now.
• 9:10
[SPEAKER_02]: We're like everything we're consuming is based on something But head of our barricard to visit a place you think much there was a weird Enter like a journey in the 90s.
• 9:18
  [SPEAKER_02]: We're like huckleberry-hound.
• 9:19
[SPEAKER_02]: They were really trying to make a thing My friend Russell did the snaggle plus series More questions.
• 9:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I love these characters.
• 9:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody go pause and watch a great bait on a YouTube clip just You could see the old 80s cartoons as it existed
• 9:33
[SPEAKER_02]: I'll leave the, this is kind of a crazy comparison, but talk to me a little bit about choreographing movesets as an artist for a character like bat girl versus a character like Iron Man.
• 9:44
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh my goodness, you know what, whenever I'm drawing a book, I change style for it at the same time, but there's like a core that I work with that could who is doing what, where they're doing it, why they, when are they doing it, the why I might never know thanks to writers.
• 9:59
  [SPEAKER_04]: I'm looking at you.
• 10:01
  [SPEAKER_04]: I never know.
• 10:02
  [SPEAKER_04]: So I get a good surprise.
• 10:04
[SPEAKER_04]: So I have to do like a lot of research about how that character already moves because I'm always coming in behind somebody else unless I'm creating a one from scratch.
• 10:12
[SPEAKER_04]: To me, the bigger comparison, you know, that's like a Iron Man doesn't assume.
• 10:16
[SPEAKER_04]: I got to destroy that suit he was wearing when he was Sean Chen was on that run.
• 10:20
[SPEAKER_04]: So the sentient Iron Man torque the other one that was so much fun.
• 10:24
[SPEAKER_04]: It's just like a mood drawing that both that was one of my favorite ever just because back then,
• 10:29
[SPEAKER_04]: characters, you know, fought for no good reason.
• 10:32
[SPEAKER_04]: And they did not need therapy wandering around, crying about death kill me please Wolverine, I'm looking at you.
• 10:40
[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, like the street action about girl versus this kind of like high tech laser stuff that Iron Man does, you're really talented and deaf like making these characters come alive.
• 10:51
  [SPEAKER_02]: That's not easy thing.
• 10:52
[SPEAKER_02]: That's not easy to do in a visual format.
• 10:55
[SPEAKER_02]: Like these long form kind of fight choreography sets.
• 10:59
  [SPEAKER_04]: I'll see that's fun.
• 11:00
  [SPEAKER_04]: That's like it's like a dance.
• 11:02
[SPEAKER_04]: So I always think of what's the most dramatic part of this dance.
• 11:05
[SPEAKER_04]: What am I going to see coming in and then I work with my way around that is like I'm watching a movie and I'm trying to draw the best portions of this movie.
• 11:13
[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm seeing the whole thing to me, the bigger challenge was something like moon girl where I have to put devil dinosaur.
• 11:19
[SPEAKER_04]: who is huge to moon girl being small and now they're all fighting or being on the same page with a lot of other characters that's effective and the zoom in and zoom out that that requires on your camera lens yeah and you know that's a vet to me was a deceptive book to me there's not a lot of difference between Iron Man and Batgirl and X-Men and all those looks because they're all they kind of run together and that same easy thinking format for me it's something where you have to challenge me with that
• 11:46
[SPEAKER_04]: these massive characters and with little tiny characters, and then they all have to do something like commit it together.
• 11:52
[SPEAKER_04]: And with Moon Girl, that was probably the hardest book, just because aside from Barbie, that's a beast.
• 11:59
  [SPEAKER_04]: But this one.
• 12:00
[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, the, I mean, the outfits, right?
• 12:02
[SPEAKER_05]: So many gowns, so many different professions.
• 12:05
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, no, it's the fact that she's model on model and everybody, every little kid in the world.
• 12:11
[SPEAKER_04]: They say if you draw Superman's shield and the dirt, everyone knows that Superman no matter where you are.
• 12:15
[SPEAKER_04]: Barbie, that face, they count the lashes.
• 12:19
  [SPEAKER_05]: Wow.
• 12:20
[SPEAKER_04]: And don't tell you, this season she has five lashes and not six.
• 12:24
[SPEAKER_04]: Right, what did you say?
• 12:25
[SPEAKER_04]: Go, won't come again, please.
• 12:27
[SPEAKER_02]: That's like, I want to meet a Barbie superhero.
• 12:31
[SPEAKER_02]: It would make me happy.
• 12:33
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, that that's a fandom we want to leave alone.
• 12:36
  [SPEAKER_04]: I pray, please.
• 12:38
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm, and it was like, I did the challenge and boy was she a challenge.
• 12:41
[SPEAKER_04]: She remains difficult, but in King Loon girl.
• 12:44
[SPEAKER_04]: She looks simple, but she's not that rush work that technique.
• 12:47
  [SPEAKER_04]: So things that.
• 12:48
[SPEAKER_04]: Allow me to push past what I normally do or more fun, but my wheelhouse are coming back to books like Iron Man and those things solar mill heroes is how I started.
• 12:58
[SPEAKER_04]: So it's very funny all the books I've been drawing recently was like, hmm, they even let me near the ladies as if I do what to them.
• 13:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I think you should draw more ladies too.
• 13:07
[SPEAKER_02]: I think that would be excellent.
• 13:08
  [SPEAKER_02]: Jordan, I, um, I don't know.
• 13:11
[SPEAKER_02]: I might be inferring this from what I can tell like your marvel work, at least the most fun you've had was writing Boomerang is come back in the symbiot world.
• 13:20
[SPEAKER_02]: My question for you here is how do you come up with a fresh approach for a take on really long established characters like symbiotes or predator.
• 13:29
[SPEAKER_02]: And then these different genres that they all come from, you're currently doing spider university where all of these different
• 13:37
[SPEAKER_02]: What's your approach to kind of genre and taking on new things?
• 13:41
[SPEAKER_02]: But I would also love to talk about boomerang specifically.
• 13:43
[SPEAKER_02]: I really enjoyed your story.
• 13:45
  [SPEAKER_05]: Sure, thank you.
• 13:46
  [SPEAKER_05]: Thank you.
• 13:46
  [SPEAKER_05]: I know.
• 13:46
  [SPEAKER_05]: I like that a lot too.
• 13:48
  [SPEAKER_05]: Web of venom.
• 13:49
  [SPEAKER_05]: A second printing.
• 13:50
[SPEAKER_05]: I think should be available.
• 13:51
  [SPEAKER_05]: It's sold out.
• 13:53
  [SPEAKER_05]: We love that.
• 13:54
[SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, should be on your local comic books stand now or soon.
• 13:59
[SPEAKER_05]: And yeah, great art in that by Luke Ross and Ramon Rassanus.
• 14:03
[SPEAKER_05]: So in that book, I'll talk a little bit about that book and then I'll move on to your question about genre and tone.
• 14:10
[SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, web of spider verse, totally fun.
• 14:13
[SPEAKER_05]: I think the idea is that a great artist name, Luciano Vecchio, did a great decision.
• 14:19
[SPEAKER_05]: I know so good one of the one of the best everything that guy does so awesome.
• 14:24
[SPEAKER_05]: He did a great design for a version of venom that had the kind of traditional spider man coloring so the reds and blues black logos, but in that big crazy goopy venom.
• 14:36
[SPEAKER_05]: body and yeah everybody just went nuts for this thing and they wanted to find like cool stories to feature this design and yeah we did um that design kind of popped up in the main Venom book uh written by Al Ewing and uh we did a fun little what if story in Venom 252 where uh that character um is an all new alternate universe uh fella named Eddie Parker who gets a
• 15:05
[SPEAKER_05]: The Pete Symbiot obviously was kind of wisecrackin and a little bit of a goofball that are strong, strong sense of honor, but yeah, but I think that stuff was enough of a hit to where they wanted something with that design in the proper 616 continuity.
• 15:19
[SPEAKER_05]: So again, Jordan D. White, our favorite editor, a great podcaster as well.
• 15:26
[SPEAKER_05]: He just kind of asked me for pitches for who could be in the suit and I pitched him a lot of stuff.
• 15:32
[SPEAKER_05]: Some of it was insane.
• 15:34
[SPEAKER_05]: Some of it was, you know, things you might expect.
• 15:37
[SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, the thing that they landed on was let's do boomerang.
• 15:40
[SPEAKER_05]: And I am such a fan of that character.
• 15:44
[SPEAKER_05]: I love the Spidey deep bench.
• 15:46
[SPEAKER_05]: Nobody's got a better deep bench than Spidey.
• 15:48
[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe the flash, maybe the flash.
• 15:51
[SPEAKER_05]: But like Spidey's sea list villains are so great.
• 15:55
[SPEAKER_05]: And yeah, I love boomerang.
• 15:56
  [SPEAKER_05]: I love the shocker.
• 15:58
[SPEAKER_05]: Any weirdo in an animal costume, give me, give me, give me, and I think a lot of that love comes from this great series, superior foes of Spider-Man.
• 16:07
[SPEAKER_05]: This is Nick Spencer and Steve Lieber, I believe.
• 16:09
  [SPEAKER_02]: hilarious.
• 16:10
  [SPEAKER_02]: It's so good.
• 16:12
[SPEAKER_05]: It's one of the, yeah, it's kind of like, it's a little bit of a deeper cut, but I know it has tons and tons of fans.
• 16:17
[SPEAKER_05]: I think they're even reprinting it soon.
• 16:19
[SPEAKER_05]: So if you have not read superior photos Spider-Man do it.
• 16:22
[SPEAKER_05]: It's it's all those deep cut characters.
• 16:24
[SPEAKER_05]: It's the speed demon and boomerang and overdrive teaming up and trying to like be trying to be a listers, trying to be a sinister six, even though there's just five of them,
• 16:35
[SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, I love that book and any kind boomerang pops up it's always funny, he's such a funny like, you know, I love a high status asshole.
• 16:44
[SPEAKER_05]: I love, you know, a guy who thinks he's cooler than he actually is.
• 16:48
[SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, he was just, he was a, I'm really glad they picked him.
• 16:52
[SPEAKER_05]: Um, yeah, and it's just such a fun, weird guy to get a symbiote, a guy who, like, isn't,
• 16:58
[SPEAKER_05]: It's like prepared to have all this power.
• 17:01
[SPEAKER_05]: I'm lucky that I've gotten to work on a bunch of different stuff, like, you know, as I mentioned, cartoons, you know, some for kids in the whole family, but then something like Predator Bloodshed, which, uh, it has a lot of decapitations.
• 17:13
[SPEAKER_05]: Um, yeah, I think when I, when I, when I get asked to do a job, I kind of like to sit down with the thing and kind of think about what I like about it and maybe kind of try and guess what other people like about it.
• 17:24
[SPEAKER_02]: And then I just try and, you meant the thing from the fantastic for a presumed.
• 17:28
  [SPEAKER_02]: What do you mean?
• 17:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you said, I like to sit down with the thing.
• 17:30
[SPEAKER_05]: I'm just like, yes, me and me and old bingram.
• 17:33
[SPEAKER_05]: We love to sit down and talk about our Aunt Petudia, yes.
• 17:37
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I've sit down with whatever the IP is.
• 17:41
[SPEAKER_05]: And just kind of think about like, what do people like about this?
• 17:43
[SPEAKER_05]: How can I preserve that?
• 17:45
[SPEAKER_05]: How can I bring a little, you know, fun spice to it?
• 17:48
[SPEAKER_05]: And I think I start my like pitches with like, this would be fun.
• 17:53
[SPEAKER_05]: I kind of try and think about something fun first.
• 17:57
[SPEAKER_05]: You know, I do like to try and dig into the emotional part of it a little bit and, you know, think about like, okay, if this was really happening, you know, after we've had our fun where do we go from here, how does this make the characters change?
• 18:09
[SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, I think there's some things I think about when I'm starting a project.
• 18:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I love deep continuity nerdy stuff.
• 18:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I mean, you have only gotten to work on the X-Men a few times, but both of the big annuals you've done have been steeped in continuity.
• 18:23
[SPEAKER_02]: We have cable versus the Hellfire Club with a apocalypse and sinister in one in your cable 1999 annual and then we have your X-Men gold annual with my dear friend Leo Williams.
• 18:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, uh, where you delve into the world of the surviving broccoli man, Vuck the star hammer
• 18:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Has it been, uh, I hope wonderful moments of you, like, fangirling for yourself as you get to draw characters, like, racial summers on the page.
• 18:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Do you want to talk about working in the X-Men world?
• 18:53
  [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yes.
• 18:53
[SPEAKER_04]: And you forgot Black Sun, X-Men Black Sun, I worked in there, too.
• 18:57
  [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, of course.
• 18:58
[SPEAKER_04]: I've been drawing comics to say, let the animals off the arc.
• 19:01
[SPEAKER_02]: So I love your art, but I try to forget Black Sun specifically.
• 19:06
  [UNKNOWN]: I'm just okay.
• 19:08
[SPEAKER_04]: That was actually my first touch of the X-ray both sides from the cable annual, which I totally always forget about and I'm like, what did I do that?
• 19:15
  [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I did.
• 19:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you got to draw them for rotters.
• 19:17
  [SPEAKER_04]: I did, I did.
• 19:19
[SPEAKER_04]: It's been so long, coding things, but yeah, X-Men it.
• 19:23
[SPEAKER_04]: That's a world I love to delve into, like, you know, the new cartoon at X 1997, maybe go back and we watch all the other ones I watched before, like, growing up, like, oh, this is great.
• 19:34
  [SPEAKER_04]: This was good.
• 19:34
  [SPEAKER_04]: This is wonderful.
• 19:35
[SPEAKER_04]: And this one now we've got Meddito.
• 19:37
[SPEAKER_04]: So extra hot here, you know, so the Fox don't know what we're dealing with here now, but line around is underwear.
• 19:43
  [SPEAKER_02]: What were they thinking?
• 19:48
[SPEAKER_04]: The X-Men world is something that I want.
• 19:50
[SPEAKER_04]: I love to death drawing storm.
• 19:52
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, we visited so many times recently, but there are beautiful characters.
• 19:57
  [SPEAKER_04]: I can't rumble up.
• 19:58
[SPEAKER_04]: So they have to be poised.
• 20:00
[SPEAKER_04]: They come in with the resting bitch face and they are just absolutely like perfection on a page after think about those grandiose shots.
• 20:07
  [SPEAKER_04]: I can't roll them around.
• 20:09
  [SPEAKER_04]: rip up their clothes.
• 20:10
[SPEAKER_04]: I can't do any of that kind of stuff.
• 20:12
[SPEAKER_04]: So while I love the X-Men universe and I love drawing in there, oh, give me things like, you know, what's my favorite book?
• 20:18
  [SPEAKER_04]: Lazarus plus 66.
• 20:20
  [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, sure.
• 20:20
[SPEAKER_04]: Great, because it's like GI Joe and these characters are unbeardably.
• 20:24
[SPEAKER_04]: You can roll them around.
• 20:25
[SPEAKER_04]: You can do everything I love doing with those big, big fight scenes and big shots, except I don't have to draw the resting, big-inch face and after look up a million billion clothes.
• 20:33
[SPEAKER_04]: Like what have been very proud that stylish?
• 20:35
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't shoes, what else shoes go around storm this week?
• 20:39
  [SPEAKER_04]: Like, come on.
• 20:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Jordan, and I think I could say this about both of you, but Jordan, you've got a trait that I adore in writers where you seem to revel in the continuity.
• 20:49
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm hearing you kind of go, like, give me the sea list, give me the messiest, achiest stuff that lets put it up on the page.
• 20:55
[SPEAKER_02]: Do you love your deep lore?
• 20:56
[SPEAKER_02]: And what's your approach to complex continuity in a property like Marvel or Predator or DC?
• 21:02
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I mean, I think I, I'm only recently starting to write stuff that has that big huge continuity, yeah, I think, you know, that web event and one shot you mentioned was my first six one six thing, but, you know, I think I have the knowledge I've been reading these things since I could read and also there's a lot of like talented people behind the scenes to make sure that, you know, your, your math is correct.
• 21:28
[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if you've ever had Nick low on this podcast, but that guy is an encyclopedia.
• 21:33
[SPEAKER_02]: I have not, but back when I worked on the handbooks, Nick was such a delight to work with.
• 21:37
  [SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's late.
• 21:38
  [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I was a researcher.
• 21:39
[SPEAKER_02]: It's not the same thing, but like he was wonderful to course.
• 21:42
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
• 21:43
[SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, so you're working with a team, you have editors, you have fat checkers, so, you know, if you get, you know, somebody's origin a little bit wrong or somebody's power set a little bit wrong someone will let you know I think some writers are kind of maybe bugged by continuity because it maybe they feel like it limits the story they can tell I think it's such a fun exercise, it's kind of like just this, you know that game you play like get
• 22:06
[SPEAKER_05]: camp or you know in a theater class where you all kind of tell a one word story like someone says I went to the store and we in you know it makes this kind of crazy story and something you play with kids and I don't know it just kind of feels like a hyper version of that it's this like you know story we've all been telling together for almost a hundred years and it's like yes and you know
• 22:31
[SPEAKER_05]: Stanley told a little bit of it, and Jack Kirby told a little bit of it, and galsamone told a little bit of it, and Kelly Thompson told a little bit of it, you know, and it's just that we all get together and kind of play this big game of like, how can we tell the most amazing story of all time?
• 22:44
[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, getting to like have a little moment in this like, you know, story that is all of that, but all of that, but you used like kangaroo in the white rabbit to perfection, even though they're on the infreq images.
• 22:57
  [SPEAKER_02]: That's what I mean, we've
• 23:01
[SPEAKER_05]: And, you know, there's a functional part of that, like, I, you know, I know where I am on the Marvel totem pole.
• 23:06
  [SPEAKER_05]: I am not a gale Simone.
• 23:07
  [SPEAKER_05]: I am not a Jonathan Hickman.
• 23:09
[SPEAKER_05]: So they are probably doing something with the more well-known characters.
• 23:13
[SPEAKER_05]: So when you get to, you know, when you get to Johnny Web of Venom one shot down here,
• 23:17
[SPEAKER_05]: You know, Dr. Dooms busy.
• 23:21
  [SPEAKER_05]: Black cats busy.
• 23:22
[SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, you kind of like have to have to dig a little deeper and I don't know.
• 23:27
[SPEAKER_05]: I just think like instead of being cranky that you can't use Dr. Dooms like have a little fun with getting to use, you know,
• 23:39
[SPEAKER_02]: esteemed company to put myself in.
• 23:40
[SPEAKER_02]: But if I get to write comics, I want to be like the curt music where like I want to pick up every obscure fact from the past and like we've been all together in some master recipe.
• 23:50
[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's that's part of my great goes with my my deep expank continuity.
• 23:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Last week on the show everyone, if you listened, we didn't episode all about venom weirdly.
• 23:58
[SPEAKER_02]: We're working in expank continuity with early stuff.
• 24:01
[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm introducing kind of new concepts in pop culture analysis and storytelling along the way.
• 24:06
  [SPEAKER_02]: Today,
• 24:11
[SPEAKER_02]: have either of you heard of this character prior to today.
• 24:14
[SPEAKER_02]: This is on that list of like if you asked Google to give you a list of Marvel's most obscure z-list characters that still kind of oddly have a name for themselves because they've had like a one-shot and a logo and they keep getting brought back.
• 24:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Do you know who wood got is?
• 24:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Or did you know this character beforehand?
• 24:32
  [SPEAKER_05]: No, well done, sir.
• 24:34
[SPEAKER_05]: And again, like you said, I kind of, you know, I kind of pride myself with bringing in some deeper cut characters.
• 24:39
[SPEAKER_05]: And this was my first experience with wood god.
• 24:43
[SPEAKER_05]: And let me say, he's a legend.
• 24:45
[SPEAKER_05]: We have no choice but to stand.
• 24:47
  [SPEAKER_02]: I, uh, I love him a little bit.
• 24:49
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to be honest.
• 24:50
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, how could you not?
• 24:53
[SPEAKER_04]: He reminds me of my ex.
• 24:54
[SPEAKER_04]: This is how I do should have known he was a devil because he was there.
• 24:57
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, I'm like this is content.
• 25:02
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm here for the lesson lesson.
• 25:03
[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, we've all we all dated a wood garden college, right?
• 25:08
[SPEAKER_04]: Some of us are going to bury what is had a whole child and they still should have known better.
• 25:14
[SPEAKER_02]: So there's there's kind of an odd genre of marbled characters that got introduced in a big way and then fell into obscurity.
• 25:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Star Lord was one of those for a long time.
• 25:24
[SPEAKER_02]: He showed up in a Marvel premiere book.
• 25:26
  [SPEAKER_02]: He's obscure for decades.
• 25:27
[SPEAKER_02]: They bring him into Guardians of the Galaxy.
• 25:29
[SPEAKER_02]: And suddenly, he's one of the premier heroes and them MCU, you know?
• 25:33
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a bunch of these characters, like a monarch star stalker, or characters that were brought in in some sort of measure by Marvel creators as Marvel properties, that they never really got picked up later.
• 25:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Brian Michael Bendis, when he worked at Marvel,
• 25:51
[SPEAKER_02]: would try to take a lot of these characters that he loved and like really bring them into the books, which is how Paul Jenkins, the century, he got brought into the main Avengers title.
• 25:59
[SPEAKER_02]: Like let's bring Jessica Jones over here.
• 26:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Let's do these things where these side characters mix in and it changes the destiny for a character when someone like rogue or long shot get to join the X-Men, even though they were created as outsiders and other spaces.
• 26:13
[SPEAKER_02]: What God shows up in Marvel premiere number 31 in 1976 by creators Bill Mantlow and Keith Giffin.
• 26:20
[SPEAKER_02]: and he's an interesting character.
• 26:22
[SPEAKER_02]: His origin is very like the island of Dr. Moro, which is a story that we see over and over in the comic books.
• 26:28
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a little Frankenstein monster where we have the creature who doesn't know better, created by the mad scientists.
• 26:34
[SPEAKER_02]: But it brings to the forefront, and I'm going to introduce this as a fact at the beginning of this, this kind of model of civilization versus instinct.
• 26:42
[SPEAKER_02]: It's an interesting kind of nature
• 26:47
[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to talk about the the first appearance of wood god briefly and then we're going to analyze Marvel team up number 53 this is from again Marvel premier number 31 1976 the opening pages of this book are it's hard for me to find the tone first of all the cover introduces the man brute called wood god he is well at the do you want to describe wood god for us in his design.
• 27:11
[SPEAKER_04]: Why do you leave that to be?
• 27:12
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, he's a handsome man at the top because the first thing I saw was this profile view John by John Burns and I'm like, okay, I'm here for this.
• 27:20
[SPEAKER_04]: He's got a little tiny horns not huge boards and he had this bush sitting on the middle of the chest.
• 27:25
[SPEAKER_04]: So that's when I knew I was in trouble.
• 27:28
[SPEAKER_04]: not expecting to turn the page now and have a gold man show up.
• 27:34
  [SPEAKER_04]: He's your gold legs.
• 27:35
[SPEAKER_02]: What's the little guy from the Chronicles of Narnia, the Panther Mr. Tom Mr. Tom, Mr. Tom, this is of course.
• 27:42
  [SPEAKER_02]: So this guy's a fraud.
• 27:43
[SPEAKER_02]: He's naked caveman from the waist up and then Harry goat bottom, no pants.
• 27:47
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, moves in like like arc to legs on the bottom half.
• 27:51
[SPEAKER_05]: I wouldn't I wouldn't call him this, but I think some might call him a butter legs.
• 27:58
  [SPEAKER_05]: I would say that.
• 27:59
  [SPEAKER_02]: That would be true.
• 28:01
[SPEAKER_02]: His initial appearance, he's fighting like scientists on the front cover.
• 28:06
[SPEAKER_02]: The tagline says, you must read a birthday nightmare.
• 28:09
[SPEAKER_02]: And we see the creation of this character in this issue.
• 28:11
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to read you the opening page.
• 28:13
  [SPEAKER_02]: We.
• 28:14
  [SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
• 28:15
[SPEAKER_02]: In the beginning, there was no sound save the dry shuffling of hooves across a heat-baked street.
• 28:21
[SPEAKER_02]: There was no understanding for concepts had not yet been formed.
• 28:24
[SPEAKER_02]: There was, however, feeling pain for instance, whimpering animal pain.
• 28:29
[SPEAKER_02]: And there was scream, wood god was its name.
• 28:33
[SPEAKER_02]: And we get this full image of this man who looks completely naked, brown fur from the waist down yelling, father.
• 28:39
[SPEAKER_02]: And that's how we meet this character.
• 28:41
  [SPEAKER_02]: It's a lot.
• 28:43
[SPEAKER_05]: This guy's a very good comment next right there.
• 28:46
[SPEAKER_02]: I love the method actually.
• 28:47
[SPEAKER_02]: This guy was born in a lab.
• 28:49
[SPEAKER_02]: He is a hybrid of human and animal body parts created by two white married scientists who whose names are David and Ellen pace and when they wake him up.
• 29:00
[SPEAKER_02]: He becomes alert, almost like, um, I don't know if you guys read those old Oz books or saw a return to Oz, they have the power of life and they just shake it on the thing they've assembled and suddenly has sentience.
• 29:10
[SPEAKER_02]: They wake him up and he's just a full-grown baby one day.
• 29:13
[SPEAKER_02]: It's very Adam Warlocked in that.
• 29:15
[SPEAKER_02]: uh... and the parents like let them go outside to play with the animals and they're like we'll just leave them alone and see what happens direct line from the doctor who's his dad says watch the beast boy to come a wood god and i don't know what the fuck wood god means even in this sentence ox like this wood god they could have some sort of bar mitzvah it seems like that's where they're going
• 29:37
[SPEAKER_02]: And tell me that this is a Frankenstein, right?
• 29:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Woodgod learns that one dog is gentle and friendly, but when another dog bites him, he kills it abruptly, not knowing his own strength.
• 29:47
[SPEAKER_02]: A peeping Tom turns looks in the window and sees this massive creature, and he gets all the people in the town to come storm the place in the woods, to, you know, it's very killed the beast from beauty in the beast.
• 29:58
[SPEAKER_02]: And they like beat up the male scientist, they're clearly planning to rape the female scientist,
• 30:07
[SPEAKER_02]: and then one shoots wood god right in the chest.
• 30:09
[SPEAKER_02]: So like they won, but then they accidentally release an experimental nerve gas.
• 30:14
[SPEAKER_02]: It turns out the paces are evil scientists.
• 30:18
[SPEAKER_02]: They're working for someone like Hydro.
• 30:20
[SPEAKER_02]: There's an evil science organization out there.
• 30:22
[SPEAKER_02]: These are the villains in the story we're about to talk about.
• 30:25
[SPEAKER_02]: If you're wondering the reference for all this, it's a direct continuation.
• 30:29
[SPEAKER_02]: and this nerve gas kills every living creature in a 15 mile radius, including animal life and some plant life.
• 30:36
[SPEAKER_02]: So, would God is walking around?
• 30:38
[SPEAKER_02]: He's the only thing that's okay, and he keeps using scream as a term to reference like death or fate.
• 30:45
[SPEAKER_02]: He gets a lot of words like, man is born of scream, man dies of scream.
• 30:50
  [SPEAKER_02]: Go to scream, man.
• 30:52
[SPEAKER_02]: He's fighting the evil scientist.
• 30:54
  [SPEAKER_02]: He says,
• 30:56
  [SPEAKER_02]: dream, drink, drink, scream.
• 30:58
[SPEAKER_02]: And the narrator says things like rippling the purple dust tearing blood, muscle bone, and a symphony of scream, animal, animal, animal scream.
• 31:08
[SPEAKER_02]: So there's a lot of like the beast man has been released.
• 31:11
[SPEAKER_02]: And at the end of this story, we've got his living alone in this town that's been devastated by this experimental nerve gas.
• 31:17
[SPEAKER_02]: That's the story that leads directly into the one that we're about to read, also by Bill Mantlow.
• 31:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Jordan, do you have thoughts on the tragic origins of Woodgod?
• 31:26
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what this story is trying to be, but I love it.
• 31:28
  [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, I know.
• 31:29
  [SPEAKER_05]: That sounds fantastic.
• 31:30
[SPEAKER_05]: And yeah, as you mentioned, it was probably inspired by, you know, Frankenstein, and Island of Dr. Moro, and, you know, things, these kind of man should not play God.
• 31:39
[SPEAKER_05]: Unless he create a Woodgod type stories.
• 31:42
  [SPEAKER_05]: That old chestnut.
• 31:43
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it sounds like really fun.
• 31:45
[SPEAKER_05]: It sounds like it's like the comics of this time.
• 31:47
  [SPEAKER_05]: They're such a blast.
• 31:49
[SPEAKER_05]: And yeah, they're so pulpy and over the top.
• 31:52
  [SPEAKER_05]: stuff right here.
• 31:53
[SPEAKER_02]: It's one of, again, it's an Adam Warlock kind of derivative.
• 31:56
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like a man thing kind of story where almost like the narration is this creature that doesn't understand the world.
• 32:03
[SPEAKER_02]: If you read the old swamp thing comics that almost is trying to be showed, but kind of it's a Wolverine story too, right?
• 32:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Which one wins the the man or the beast?
• 32:11
[SPEAKER_02]: The name would God is wild.
• 32:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Do you have any thoughts on the name would God itself,
• 32:17
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, when I first read it, I thought, for and it didn't mind my little brain did not think any better as I kept reading this thing like, wow, there was something about that time that they just, oh, my goodness, they liked to skirt an edge.
• 32:31
[SPEAKER_02]: We thought it was going to be, it has to be best friends with man thing.
• 32:34
[SPEAKER_02]: There's got to be an science-sized wood god.
• 32:36
[SPEAKER_04]: And then yeah, we're just things that just like, they shouldn't be rolling together and coming off the tongue and broad daylight.
• 32:44
[SPEAKER_04]: reading is like, wow, thank goodness you told me that story because this story makes sense now because I was, I said, this must be a metaphor for death, this whole screen thing.
• 32:53
[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm starting to catch up with what you told me, like, oh, I get it.
• 32:57
[SPEAKER_04]: I love the part that they're actually the evil ones that explains why they created this thing in the first place, but yeah, I mean, this is a, at least it says when I first heard the name would God, I thought, porn.
• 33:07
[SPEAKER_02]: And then when I first looked at the characters, a visual, I still thought porn.
• 33:12
[SPEAKER_05]: He does look like he's there to fix the jacuzzi or to deliver a pizza.
• 33:18
[SPEAKER_02]: We have conversations on my show.
• 33:19
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a weird sub genre where it's the fuccable monster category.
• 33:24
  [SPEAKER_02]: Hulk is pretty fuccable.
• 33:25
[SPEAKER_02]: I think wood got as pretty fuccable.
• 33:27
[SPEAKER_02]: There's some monsters out there that are not fuccable.
• 33:32
[SPEAKER_05]: Every every monster is fuccable to someone.
• 33:34
  [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, that's true.
• 33:35
  [SPEAKER_05]: I've seen.
• 33:37
[SPEAKER_04]: I heard to help describe that plan.
• 33:40
[SPEAKER_04]: I would not take my chance with it.
• 33:41
[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not sure if you heard of Rule 34.
• 33:45
[SPEAKER_05]: Let me explain it to you if you need to.
• 33:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, today we are going to be talking about Marvel team up number 53.
• 33:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Now a little while back with my friend Stephanie Williams, we talked about Marvel team up and you will number one, which is that crazy story about the X-Men in an early Claremont adventure where they fight some scientists who got radiation into becoming gods.
• 34:09
  [SPEAKER_02]: It's a crazy story.
• 34:10
[SPEAKER_02]: This story develops directly from that one.
• 34:13
[SPEAKER_02]: They're leaving their adventure with Spider-Man in an X-Men ship as they depart.
• 34:18
[SPEAKER_02]: But we open on the Hulk.
• 34:20
[SPEAKER_02]: And Bill Mantlos, the writer on this book, John Bern is on pencils with Frank G. Aquia on Inks, Don Warfield on Colors, Joe Rosen on letters, Archie Goodwin is the editor.
• 34:30
[SPEAKER_02]: And this is some early John Bern stuff.
• 34:32
[SPEAKER_02]: This has been he with who's doing things like Saber Tooth in Ironfest right before we get to his work with Claremont on the X-Men.
• 34:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Jordan, are you a John Bern fan?
• 34:42
[SPEAKER_02]: And were you pleased to see his pencils here?
• 34:44
  [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, yeah, absolutely.
• 34:45
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I mean, John Bern, one of the best to ever do it.
• 34:48
[SPEAKER_05]: And yet such a big influence on, you know,
• 34:52
  [SPEAKER_05]: super hero comics style.
• 34:54
  [SPEAKER_05]: This book looks great.
• 34:56
[SPEAKER_05]: I really like how it looks.
• 34:57
[SPEAKER_05]: There's so many cool panels.
• 35:00
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so much like fun exaggeration in action.
• 35:02
[SPEAKER_05]: It's a, you know, a little spoiler for what I thought overall.
• 35:05
  [SPEAKER_05]: This is a blast.
• 35:07
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's a fun.
• 35:08
[SPEAKER_02]: And the arts pretty beautiful.
• 35:09
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a few in a specific house, but I think are very impressive.
• 35:12
  [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
• 35:12
[SPEAKER_02]: So Hulk lands in our abandoned town in New Mexico.
• 35:15
[SPEAKER_02]: There are no humans because of the nerve gas that I just referenced.
• 35:19
[SPEAKER_02]: The dust is all purple, the air smells funny, and doing his best cookie monster, he says things like town must be Hulk's.
• 35:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Hulk's likes town even with funny smell.
• 35:29
[SPEAKER_02]: But if town is Hulk's, then Hulk must clean town.
• 35:32
  [SPEAKER_02]: So Hulk
• 35:37
[SPEAKER_05]: with this is so funny.
• 35:40
  [SPEAKER_05]: This is hilarious.
• 35:41
[SPEAKER_05]: How Hulk assumes the town is his, but what's depleted up so his name is on something appropriate.
• 35:50
  [SPEAKER_05]: That is so hilarious.
• 35:51
  [SPEAKER_02]: He's looking around.
• 35:52
  [SPEAKER_02]: He's seeing the food.
• 35:54
[SPEAKER_02]: He finds one body on the ground.
• 35:56
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what happened to the others.
• 35:57
  [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe they disintegrated.
• 35:59
  [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe I don't know.
• 36:00
  [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, unclear.
• 36:01
[SPEAKER_02]: where wood god was just fighting everybody.
• 36:03
[SPEAKER_02]: And then wood god shows up.
• 36:06
  [SPEAKER_02]: He is here.
• 36:07
[SPEAKER_02]: Hulk calls him goat man because this is the era with Hulk in the defenders where he has a cute little nickname for everybody.
• 36:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Wood god is still yelling about scream.
• 36:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Hulk throws a card door out of him.
• 36:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Wood god says has scream driven the green man mad.
• 36:22
[SPEAKER_02]: And the narrator says there may be some truth in that.
• 36:30
[SPEAKER_02]: I'll leave it to you enjoy the Hulk would god battle.
• 36:33
[SPEAKER_04]: I did enjoy the Hulk would god battle.
• 36:35
[SPEAKER_04]: It harkin' back to all the old days for me there.
• 36:39
[SPEAKER_04]: Going, this is, I missed reading all these books.
• 36:41
[SPEAKER_04]: This is why I've never heard of this kind of stuff.
• 36:44
[SPEAKER_04]: But just like they've seen the X-Men, seeing the costumeing, I was like immersed in a world that I have not ever really got to experience when it was like live and happening.
• 36:53
[SPEAKER_04]: So, meaning when I first picked up my first comment book, it was beyond this time.
• 36:58
[SPEAKER_04]: So everything then as I said, got into that hole that they all need to look perfect and in this perfect, there was a lot less humor and it wasn't as wordy.
• 37:06
[SPEAKER_04]: So just getting to dive in here and looking at the design of the characters, watching these old costumes, listening to them, talk, I was like, I didn't know the harp, I hope was so articulate at all.
• 37:16
[SPEAKER_04]: Let's say I have to clean up a town and like, that's not what the help does.
• 37:21
[SPEAKER_02]: In the, well, Hulk in the, Hulk in the 70s, there's a bunch of pages of him, just like wanting to eat beans at a campfire.
• 37:27
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, he just I like, I like, oh, Hulk topics a lot of.
• 37:31
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it's really fun when people lean into the comedy of Hulk.
• 37:35
  [SPEAKER_05]: I think it's great.
• 37:35
[SPEAKER_02]: So we're going to do the X-Men part of this because we are X-Men fans on this show.
• 37:42
[SPEAKER_02]: The X-Men are new under Claremont's pen.
• 37:44
[SPEAKER_02]: This is happening right around the same time as that time they went to Ireland and fought Black Tom and Juggernaut in the castle full of leprechauns.
• 37:52
[SPEAKER_02]: This is very early on in Claremont's run on.
• 37:55
[SPEAKER_02]: He's just about to bring Magneto back.
• 37:58
[SPEAKER_02]: All of the Eric, the Red, and Le Landras stuff is just heating up.
• 38:01
[SPEAKER_02]: And Jean Grey has just gotten the Phoenix, but we kind of don't know what it is yet.
• 38:06
[SPEAKER_02]: So this is a very early Claremont era story, even though Claremont is not the writer.
• 38:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Again, Bill Matt Low is writing this.
• 38:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Jordan, do you want to tell us about the layout of this double page spread and kind of wear everyone's hat and how you think about it?
• 38:19
[SPEAKER_02]: I love John Dverend draws the scene.
• 38:22
[SPEAKER_05]: This is gorgeous so this this like two page spread is really fantastic and for a second I thought okay did either of y'all have that spidey storm power man comic where they told you not to smoke.
• 38:39
[SPEAKER_02]: We're legit going to review that on my show later this year.
• 38:42
  [SPEAKER_02]: I already.
• 38:42
  [SPEAKER_05]: Are you right?
• 38:44
[SPEAKER_05]: I googled it because I wondered if John Bern had drawn it.
• 38:47
  [SPEAKER_05]: It was not.
• 38:47
  [SPEAKER_05]: It was John Ramita.
• 38:49
[SPEAKER_05]: This is something they gave out like it schools.
• 38:53
[SPEAKER_05]: It was a like comic with a no smoking message featuring Spider-Man's dormant power man.
• 38:58
  [SPEAKER_05]: They fought smoke screen.
• 39:00
[SPEAKER_05]: I believe why don't know if Luke he was pre-established, but you know more than
• 39:08
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you know, when you were talking about how weird a name would God is, I'm like, hey man, I get it.
• 39:14
[SPEAKER_05]: Have you ever tried to name a new Marvel thing?
• 39:16
[SPEAKER_05]: It's so hard because they have so many things.
• 39:19
[SPEAKER_05]: There's so many characters like coming up with a new Marvel character, they haven't done.
• 39:23
  [SPEAKER_05]: challenge.
• 39:24
[SPEAKER_05]: So I understand how at some point you're just like, I don't know, would God, and you know, it's like fine, we have to turn this thing in.
• 39:30
[SPEAKER_05]: So when I, okay, back to back to this, so many tangents, back to this great two-page spread, this art art in a golden ship called the ex shuttle, which is this rule.
• 39:40
  [SPEAKER_02]: And again, another topic.
• 39:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Just the random ship of all.
• 39:44
[SPEAKER_05]: The art on this specifically how Storm is drawn just gave me this flashback to that anti-smoking comic to the point where I'm like Is this an ad for that comic anyway?
• 39:54
[SPEAKER_05]: It derailed me, but when I realized it was actually part of the story We were reading.
• 39:58
[SPEAKER_05]: I got locked in a little bit more.
• 40:00
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, this golden, you know, open top ship is really cool And then they fight these guys in hovercrafts.
• 40:07
[SPEAKER_05]: They kind of look like aim aim guys in these kind of yellow suits
• 40:14
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to read the dialogue on the double-page spread because this is my favorite part of my X-Men characters.
• 40:21
  [SPEAKER_02]: Ben, she says.
• 40:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Now, I be asking you Cyclops, do you really think it's polite here being when you ask our web to guess to be right and all the way back east on the hood?
• 40:32
[SPEAKER_02]: And sure enough, Spider-Man is like web to the hood as all of the X-Men are packed in the car.
• 40:36
[SPEAKER_02]: It's literally kind of sitting on the side door, but they must be like hundreds of feet in the air and then storm and vanshee outside the ship.
• 40:43
[SPEAKER_02]: We've got Colossus, Phoenix, and Xavier in the back seat.
• 40:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Cyclops and nightcroller in the frugs.
• 40:48
[SPEAKER_02]: I, but you make me ashamed to be calling me south of an X-Men, Spider-Man replies, I think your group leader realizes the rest of you would have a hard time cleaning out here, red, but I hope you're good.
• 41:00
[SPEAKER_02]: But I hope you're gonna pay the dry cleaning when it comes time to get the splattered bugs off my costume.
• 41:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Wolverine pipes in complaint spider, man.
• 41:09
[SPEAKER_02]: We could have let you walk home.
• 41:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Cyclops says, and we would have been walking with him Wolverine, if Phoenix hadn't psychoconetically summoned the ex shuttle to pick us up.
• 41:20
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm always cleared out by the word psychoconetic.
• 41:22
[SPEAKER_02]: It makes no sense in my brain.
• 41:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Colossus says, how are you professor?
• 41:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Xavier says better Peter, but so tired, Phoenix assures him will have you back home soon.
• 41:31
[SPEAKER_02]: The professor says, I think you're all forgetting the needs of our guests.
• 41:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Perhaps he doesn't wish to return to New York.
• 41:37
  [SPEAKER_02]: Cyclops replies, good grief.
• 41:39
[SPEAKER_02]: We've all been so shot since our battle.
• 41:42
[SPEAKER_02]: We battled the gods back at the nest that it never occurred to me to ask.
• 41:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, why, well, crawler, you go in our way.
• 41:48
[SPEAKER_02]: And Spidey says beats thumb or beats thumbing it after all.
• 41:52
[SPEAKER_02]: There isn't much new Mexico to swing a web from, say, the bear cactus.
• 41:56
[SPEAKER_02]: So count me in, ex people as long as we're playing, as long as we're paying student rates.
• 42:01
[SPEAKER_02]: I really enjoy this dialogue a lot.
• 42:03
[SPEAKER_02]: Gives us the ex position we need with some really fun character moments.
• 42:06
[SPEAKER_02]: I'll leave the any thoughts on this interchange.
• 42:09
[SPEAKER_04]: It was long and wordy and I thought at first it must be written by Claremont that I looked at him.
• 42:13
  [SPEAKER_04]: So I know it's not.
• 42:14
[SPEAKER_04]: It has elements of the things that I think are missing from today's comics and the sense that you've introduced all the characters to me.
• 42:21
[SPEAKER_04]: You just didn't throw them on the page and make me wonder who they were.
• 42:24
[SPEAKER_04]: Like now, I'm like, I don't know who these people are.
• 42:27
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know when they're going to tell me.
• 42:28
[SPEAKER_04]: So it's like they were following rules that we now ignore.
• 42:32
  [SPEAKER_04]: It was extremely wordy.
• 42:33
[SPEAKER_04]: So wordy is like, OK, that's a sign of the times.
• 42:37
[SPEAKER_02]: Mostly, 70s makes our very dense and word bubbles.
• 42:40
[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, and back then, they were hand-lettering that I would hate if they made a mistake on that and had to go back and fix all of the, oh, no, no, I'd like respect the craft so much more when I see it like this, but at the same time, like I said, we're missing that hard to bring characters on if you do start characters, then let them go.
• 42:58
[SPEAKER_04]: So there's a mechanics underneath there that I very much appreciate.
• 43:01
[SPEAKER_02]: So nightcrawler notice is something approaching on the radar.
• 43:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Wolverine, as he pops his claws, says it's probably an exterminator come to get the blasted bugman off the bumper.
• 43:10
[SPEAKER_02]: These green scientists in their airships attack.
• 43:13
[SPEAKER_02]: They fire missiles to shoot the ship down, which is successful.
• 43:17
[SPEAKER_02]: And my favorite panel in the whole book is what happens with Cyclops here.
• 43:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Cyclops is eyes light up in one panel.
• 43:22
[SPEAKER_02]: And then we get another panel of him firing multiple shots and like a motion effect with the sound effect is a strow as he fires a bunch of missiles out of the air one shot at a time.
• 43:33
[SPEAKER_02]: This is a cool cyclops moment.
• 43:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Jordan, did you have thoughts here?
• 43:36
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, this is so much fun.
• 43:38
[SPEAKER_05]: A great to see Banchi too.
• 43:40
[SPEAKER_05]: I feel like we maybe, maybe I'm not all caught up on my current X-Men experience.
• 43:44
[SPEAKER_05]: Been a minute since Banchi's been in there.
• 43:46
  [SPEAKER_02]: Did you follow Cracola?
• 43:48
  [SPEAKER_05]: Uh, I did.
• 43:48
[SPEAKER_02]: I read a lot of it, but maybe not everything more in the tagger turns out she's an evil super villain lady who lives multiple lifetimes and there's a scene in critical where she kills Banshee and skins him and wears his skin.
• 44:03
  [SPEAKER_02]: It's.
• 44:06
  [SPEAKER_02]: He deserved better.
• 44:08
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he's back to life now.
• 44:09
  [SPEAKER_02]: That's what I have.
• 44:10
  [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
• 44:10
  [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
• 44:12
  [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I'm a camera comics.
• 44:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Spider-Man gets pitched off the hood, Banshee catches him, Spidey says I'm going to get you a throat Lossage.
• 44:19
[SPEAKER_02]: The X-Men land, and they learn that the military or these evil scientists have been firing the missiles at them would go out in the whole car battling nearby.
• 44:28
[SPEAKER_02]: They decide to leave Spider-Man there to investigate while they head home and Banshee agrees to fly Spider-Man into combat.
• 44:37
[SPEAKER_02]: So we're gonna get back to the Hulkwood God, but when we jump the few pages ahead, Banshee is flying Spider-Man in carrying him by the armpits and is like, dude, you're much too heavy.
• 44:46
[SPEAKER_02]: And then he apparently, I think on purpose, just drops him.
• 44:49
[SPEAKER_02]: that's like this inspired from flying.
• 44:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Spider-Man creates some webs to cushion the fall.
• 44:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Banshee flies back with a with a sealator.
• 44:57
[SPEAKER_02]: So this is a cute moment and that's the X-Men's whole part in this story.
• 45:01
[SPEAKER_04]: Again, I did appreciate seeing Banshee as well.
• 45:05
[SPEAKER_04]: character that felt like comic relief even then.
• 45:08
[SPEAKER_04]: But to me, that, as you said, this dialogue is helping me to learn about them.
• 45:12
[SPEAKER_04]: I like hearing their voices and gleaning their personalities from being able to hear them speak so much, even though reading it tired, my eyes out and the sense that why am I reading so many words.
• 45:24
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not used to all of that comic books are so quick nowadays.
• 45:27
[SPEAKER_04]: I should be done in like five minutes, but this one made me have to go back and reread it and I found that I had more enjoyment, especially because the X man felt more like people to me, like they had personalities, not just pretty faces.
• 45:40
[SPEAKER_02]: So we have reference to what God has been accelerating super fast, but now his evolution is slowing.
• 45:47
[SPEAKER_02]: If you guys watch invincible, the little character Oliver, who is like a kid on demand, the halfbug half on demand kid, he like ages up quickly, then is a teen that slows down, it's that kind of methodology.
• 45:58
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a place named Tranquility based nearby.
• 46:01
[SPEAKER_02]: This town is called Liberty.
• 46:03
[SPEAKER_02]: We see the fight between Hulk and would God kind of increase a bunch of properties getting destroyed.
• 46:10
  [SPEAKER_02]: Hulk is mad.
• 46:11
[SPEAKER_02]: They're going back and forth.
• 46:12
[SPEAKER_02]: And then we get a hilarious panel where Hulk gets electrocuted.
• 46:16
  [SPEAKER_05]: Good panel.
• 46:17
  [SPEAKER_05]: Very good panel.
• 46:19
[SPEAKER_05]: Hulk getting electro's app is very, very funny.
• 46:22
[SPEAKER_02]: like a tight zooming on his face like zapping a lecture or like a lightning out of his brain, which is very funny.
• 46:28
[SPEAKER_02]: And this triggers a transformation back into Bruce Banner.
• 46:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Wood got assumes, oh no, the scientists killed another man, and now the scientists and their airships are back to attack.
• 46:38
[SPEAKER_02]: Woodgod is knocking them out of the air.
• 46:40
[SPEAKER_02]: We get a little bit of spidey helping woodgod out.
• 46:44
[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, it's spidey getting knocked into some water basically.
• 46:47
[SPEAKER_02]: As again, woodgod yells the phrase, go to scream, man, again, scream, meaning like death or the afterlife in this character's brain.
• 46:56
[SPEAKER_05]: It's like there's some kind of like smurf.
• 46:58
  [SPEAKER_05]: He uses it.
• 46:59
  [SPEAKER_05]: It's kind of a catch-all turn.
• 47:00
  [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it's smurfy.
• 47:02
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
• 47:02
  [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
• 47:03
[SPEAKER_05]: Smurf you later, you can just say scream you later.
• 47:06
[SPEAKER_02]: This is directly continues into the next issue and the one after that.
• 47:10
[SPEAKER_02]: So the Woodgod Hulk Spider-Man story picks up with the evil scientists the next time.
• 47:15
[SPEAKER_02]: We're not going to cover that on my show because this is again focused on the X-Men.
• 47:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Woodgod survives this story and has appeared a total of 17 times in Marvel comics.
• 47:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Several times as a character in the Hulk, later in Quasar, he gets a Marvel Comics presents story in the 90s.
• 47:34
[SPEAKER_02]: He shows up in a few random appearances in the 90s, like Nick Fury, Agent of Shield, and name-or-the-submariner and alpha-flight.
• 47:42
[SPEAKER_02]: The last time we've seen him, is in Hulk Volume 2,
• 47:46
  [SPEAKER_02]: number 30 in 2011.
• 47:48
[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, he's fine.
• 47:50
[SPEAKER_02]: He's part of a group of people trying to get a wish in that issue.
• 47:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Not a lot has happened for this character over the years.
• 47:56
[SPEAKER_02]: I believe that how we feeling about Woodgod's journey.
• 47:58
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I'm here looking at a picture of Woodgod right now going.
• 48:02
[SPEAKER_04]: I think I would have preferred to draw him better than a businessman, which I had to draw recently.
• 48:07
[SPEAKER_04]: It's a very obscure character and I realize they've only ever drawn the profile view until now say, oh, so someone
• 48:14
[SPEAKER_04]: I'd rather move this guy around.
• 48:16
[SPEAKER_04]: I can't, I'm trying to glean his, you know, skill set, meaning like how strong is he all this stuff.
• 48:22
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm asking modern questions of a book that's just supposed to be funny and meant to be enjoyed.
• 48:27
[SPEAKER_04]: Not go, I can't tell what his powers how strong he is.
• 48:30
  [SPEAKER_04]: Is he hoaxed strong?
• 48:31
[SPEAKER_04]: Does get you a left-feck you to hoax and make it turn back?
• 48:34
  [SPEAKER_04]: What is happening here?
• 48:35
  [SPEAKER_04]: I'm only wait a minute.
• 48:36
[SPEAKER_04]: We're not supposed to be reading and looking this deep into this turn off this modern brain and just enjoy the comment book for what it is,
• 48:44
[SPEAKER_02]: This is, uh, back when I had to write the handbooks, you know, Hulk's been breathing in lethal gas.
• 48:49
[SPEAKER_02]: He might be tired or hungry.
• 48:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Wood God might be as strong as the Hulk is.
• 48:53
  [SPEAKER_02]: He's not mad enough.
• 48:55
[SPEAKER_02]: The only relevant appearance in an X-Men book for Wood God, because the X-Men never met him directly here.
• 49:01
[SPEAKER_02]: He shows up an alpha flight volume two number 13 under Steven Segal in the 90s.
• 49:06
[SPEAKER_02]: He's in department H in like an experimental tank where they're like mutating his DNA.
• 49:12
[SPEAKER_02]: And we've never really seen anything done with that.
• 49:14
  [SPEAKER_02]: It's a, it's kind of a throw away background.
• 49:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Jordan, we were talking about theme and tone earlier.
• 49:19
[SPEAKER_02]: What does Woodgod fall into for you category wise?
• 49:23
[SPEAKER_02]: As we look at his placement in this story, the man, baby, in the Frankenstein body.
• 49:29
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I mean, I think he's just a great example of like monster camp, just like classic, you know, plucked from the plucked from the universal monsters, you know, fun drama camp.
• 49:41
  [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, he's great.
• 49:43
[SPEAKER_05]: I, yeah, I don't know why this guy isn't popping up more.
• 49:46
[SPEAKER_05]: You know, and obviously a hunk too, I think that, you know, can we get him in a swimsuit issue?
• 49:52
[SPEAKER_05]: It's a too late to put him into this year's swimsuit issue.
• 49:54
  [SPEAKER_05]: Put a little,
• 49:56
[SPEAKER_02]: It's easy to make him the villain of the month, you know, Sinister is mutated above, or there's some sort of misunderstanding.
• 50:02
[SPEAKER_02]: He fits into any story there.
• 50:03
[SPEAKER_02]: But I almost like this guy is like, he's a bit character at Howard the Duck's office, you know, he's just right.
• 50:10
  [SPEAKER_02]: It's been a good thought for God's sake.
• 50:12
[SPEAKER_02]: It's giving very much like the fawn or sater energy again, right?
• 50:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Like the guy that plays the flute in the woods and is going to enforce all the animals, but it's an innocent character surviving in apocalypse, trying to figure out a lesson.
• 50:26
[SPEAKER_04]: Or that you just use, I tried so hard not to say the sater word, just because I think, like I said earlier, we have this kind of way of a modern brain thinking.
• 50:35
  [SPEAKER_04]: That's why I think maybe you
• 50:37
[SPEAKER_04]: you'd have to change his name or he was for formerly known as the wood god and changed it to something because today we're like, what did you just say?
• 50:47
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I do, I do focus episodes on obscure characters, maybe I'll do a wood god episode one day, but I could also fit into a Deadpool comic.
• 50:55
[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's background, but he's on the cover of like a foreign movie, like wood god is his face.
• 51:02
  [SPEAKER_02]: His face.
• 51:03
  [SPEAKER_05]: I don't hate it.
• 51:04
  [SPEAKER_05]: I don't hate it.
• 51:07
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, no one thank you very much for having me.
• 51:09
[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you for letting me walk down memory lane.
• 51:12
[SPEAKER_04]: Elaine, if I really did not get to enjoy when I was a kid, I didn't get to see these kind of books.
• 51:18
[SPEAKER_04]: So coming back is like, oh, I understand more now what people are trying to reach.
• 51:23
[SPEAKER_04]: What they what they remember and what they're going what they miss so very much.
• 51:27
[SPEAKER_04]: Because it was just you just got to turn everything off.
• 51:30
[SPEAKER_04]: and enjoy the moment and enjoy the book for what it is.
• 51:33
[SPEAKER_04]: And that was an amazing to be able to do that.
• 51:35
[SPEAKER_04]: Just an amazing experience for me because it's something that when I get a script, I'm always behind the scenes.
• 51:40
[SPEAKER_04]: I have to look at it and make it make sense on the page.
• 51:44
[SPEAKER_04]: This made it to the page and it barely made sense to me.
• 51:47
  [SPEAKER_04]: And I was okay.
• 51:48
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I was here for it.
• 51:50
  [SPEAKER_04]: I did.
• 51:50
[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, oh, I'm on here.
• 51:51
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know why this is happening.
• 51:54
  [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, I'm here.
• 51:55
[SPEAKER_04]: So thank you so much.
• 51:57
[SPEAKER_04]: I got to have an experience and recent work.
• 52:00
  [SPEAKER_04]: Oh goodness.
• 52:01
[SPEAKER_04]: All I do is work, but I mean, I finally got to work on, I know I'm going to say the bad word DC.
• 52:08
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, so we like DC here too.
• 52:10
  [SPEAKER_05]: It's the best.
• 52:12
  [SPEAKER_05]: The distinguished competition.
• 52:14
  [SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
• 52:15
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, you know, I'm an artist.
• 52:16
  [SPEAKER_04]: I'm like a shark.
• 52:17
[SPEAKER_04]: I have to keep swimming.
• 52:18
  [SPEAKER_04]: I go so I go wherever I'm called.
• 52:20
[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm like, they threw the bat symbol up.
• 52:22
[SPEAKER_04]: And like, oh, I'm here.
• 52:23
[SPEAKER_04]: Let me get the right costume on.
• 52:24
  [SPEAKER_04]: I'm coming for you.
• 52:25
[SPEAKER_04]: But I finally got to draw Joe.
• 52:28
[SPEAKER_04]: Told you, Green Lantern got into that.
• 52:30
[SPEAKER_04]: It did for their pride.
• 52:32
  [SPEAKER_04]: It's cool.
• 52:33
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, this is amazing.
• 52:34
[SPEAKER_04]: And then I realized at the same time, it's Green Lantern.
• 52:38
  [SPEAKER_04]: There's a million lanterns.
• 52:39
[SPEAKER_04]: You have to be specific.
• 52:41
  [SPEAKER_04]: You cannot.
• 52:44
[SPEAKER_04]: I have to do most of my research myself.
• 52:46
[SPEAKER_04]: The editors think they're giving you enough to research, right?
• 52:49
[SPEAKER_04]: Like here, here's some characters.
• 52:51
  [SPEAKER_04]: There's this is great.
• 52:52
  [SPEAKER_04]: Go.
• 52:53
[SPEAKER_04]: You have to tell me which ones there's thousands of them.
• 52:56
[SPEAKER_04]: What are they doing currently?
• 52:57
[SPEAKER_04]: So I got to dive in and read all of that and get in.
• 53:00
[SPEAKER_04]: And I kept forgetting the rings.
• 53:02
[SPEAKER_04]: It's like when I draw Spider-Man, I have a draw Spider-Man one single time and I'm missed up his costume, not once.
• 53:08
[SPEAKER_05]: Because even you like to enter, you have five eyelashes this year.
• 53:13
[SPEAKER_04]: I know five this year, right?
• 53:15
[SPEAKER_04]: Miles, I do the wrong costume into that.
• 53:17
  [SPEAKER_02]: I love a call back Jordan.
• 53:19
  [SPEAKER_02]: Well done.
• 53:19
  [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you.
• 53:21
  [SPEAKER_04]: Great.
• 53:21
  [SPEAKER_04]: That was perfect.
• 53:22
[SPEAKER_05]: All those improv glasses were good for something.
• 53:26
[SPEAKER_04]: So yep, upcoming is the pride issue and then I'm usually on two books at once.
• 53:31
[SPEAKER_04]: So what was the other one I did?
• 53:33
[SPEAKER_04]: Ooh, I finally got to do something amazing.
• 53:36
[SPEAKER_04]: One of my favorite characters.
• 53:37
[SPEAKER_04]: I got to draw a logo, a cover and alternate cover for the logo, which is like, oh my goodness, I feel like I'm going home back to my origins of just drawing solo male heroes.
• 53:46
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, I ran around with their mascara forever with the new be a getting to redesign get character was amazing, but getting to draw some of these
• 53:54
[SPEAKER_04]: more core to me more like what I'm used to what I can't where I came from.
• 53:59
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I feel like I'm in a Renaissance here.
• 54:01
  [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you so much.
• 54:03
[SPEAKER_04]: www.arietstorm.com, but you're not going to see comic book Alitha because when I grow up, I want to be a sci-fi writer.
• 54:10
[SPEAKER_04]: So you'll get an intro to my world of foreign and I'm going to be appearing next weekend at fan
• 54:21
[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm mostly stay home, but I'm easily found online, area at storm.com, area at storm.
• 54:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Seeing a woman artist with the longevity that you have in your career, but particularly as a woman of color, you are very talented and your name isn't a lot of spaces.
• 54:40
[SPEAKER_02]: And I hope to get to read some of your sci-fi as well.
• 54:43
[SPEAKER_02]: But everybody go look at Elethas work with Roxanne Gay and World of Wakanda very specifically for what happens when women get to make comics together.
• 54:51
  [SPEAKER_02]: I'm a big fan of Elethas.
• 54:52
[SPEAKER_02]: And I can't wait to get some of your art on my wall.
• 54:54
[SPEAKER_02]: So thank you for coming on the show today.
• 54:55
[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you for having me.
• 54:57
[SPEAKER_05]: I thought this was an absolute blast.
• 54:59
[SPEAKER_05]: At least you mentioned Lobo.
• 55:00
[SPEAKER_05]: Wood got in Lobo's similar energy, right?
• 55:03
  [SPEAKER_05]: These are two.
• 55:04
[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know why one is huge and getting played by Jason Mamoan.
• 55:07
[SPEAKER_05]: One is just lost to time.
• 55:09
[SPEAKER_05]: Now is what we got so low in a hatewood gun.
• 55:11
  [SPEAKER_04]: It's a hair pants.
• 55:12
  [SPEAKER_04]: It's a hairy pants.
• 55:13
[SPEAKER_04]: Take the pants off of him and then you have a lot.
• 55:15
[SPEAKER_05]: The next time they do one of those DC Marvel team up books, it's Lobo versus Woodgod.
• 55:20
[SPEAKER_05]: That's the matchup, every, but that on the cover, it'll sell books.
• 55:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, it has his own logo.
• 55:25
  [SPEAKER_02]: I'm just saying.
• 55:26
  [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, right?
• 55:27
[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, yeah, this was a blast.
• 55:29
[SPEAKER_05]: I do especially love it when Spidey and the Xmen go on an adventure together.
• 55:33
[SPEAKER_05]: Their dynamic is so great.
• 55:34
[SPEAKER_05]: The Xmen being the kind of more, you know, so be melodramatic team and then Spidey who doesn't take anything seriously.
• 55:41
  [SPEAKER_05]: It's such a fun matchup.
• 55:45
[SPEAKER_02]: The owner with the found family.
• 55:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, interesting commentary every time.
• 55:49
  [SPEAKER_05]: It is.
• 55:49
  [SPEAKER_05]: I really like it.
• 55:50
[SPEAKER_05]: This is this issue no exception.
• 55:52
[SPEAKER_05]: And I have a couple of Marvel books on the stand that you could pick up right now.
• 55:56
[SPEAKER_05]: The first one I'll mention is Predator Bloodshed.
• 56:00
[SPEAKER_05]: This is a Predator mini series five issues with Roland Boshi and Rory Coleman on art.
• 56:06
[SPEAKER_05]: They're both really shredding on this thing.
• 56:08
[SPEAKER_05]: Both of them just draw a beautiful Predator.
• 56:11
[SPEAKER_05]: yeah this is a story kind of the pitch would be what if the predator got out in an underground fighting tournament kind of like mortal combat so the predator just wrecking shop on a various on various martial artists and we got a shadowy corporation at the heart of it that maybe the predator will.
• 56:27
  [SPEAKER_05]: tear through.
• 56:28
  [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
• 56:28
  [SPEAKER_05]: You got to read.
• 56:30
[SPEAKER_05]: I think issue four is out now and by the time this comes out issue five should be approaching your comic book stand.
• 56:37
[SPEAKER_05]: So there's plenty of time to catch up.
• 56:39
[SPEAKER_05]: Spider versity should say amazing spider man spider versity.
• 56:44
[SPEAKER_05]: This is kind of a spinning out of the
• 56:51
  [SPEAKER_05]: Uh, you got miles.
• 56:51
  [SPEAKER_05]: You got Gwen.
• 56:52
  [SPEAKER_05]: You got spider boy.
• 56:53
  [SPEAKER_05]: You got spider girl.
• 56:54
[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, and they are kind of entering into this training academy led by Justin could drew not a huge surprise, but wait Norman Osborn is there the green goblin.
• 57:03
  [SPEAKER_05]: Oh my god.
• 57:05
[SPEAKER_05]: It doesn't get juicyer than this.
• 57:06
[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, gorgeous art by Perry Perez who just draws a fight scene like nobody's business.
• 57:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, juicy is not a word I ever need to hear to describe Norman Osborn.
• 57:19
  [SPEAKER_05]: That's fair.
• 57:20
[SPEAKER_05]: That is very, very fair.
• 57:21
[SPEAKER_05]: I'll watch that in the future.
• 57:22
[SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, amazing spiderbed spider versity.
• 57:25
[SPEAKER_05]: I believe as of this recording, there should be two issues on stands now.
• 57:28
[SPEAKER_05]: It's going to be five.
• 57:30
[SPEAKER_05]: And I genuinely don't have any scoops, but they tell me that some of the stuff happening in this book will, um,
• 57:37
[SPEAKER_05]: be the important two things that are happening in ASM 1,000, which is coming in September, I believe.
• 57:44
[SPEAKER_05]: So if you're a Spidey completeist, if you like all those characters, definitely check out Spider for City.
• 57:50
[SPEAKER_02]: One of my, and I've made a lot of great friends through the show, but one of my really good buddies is Alex Segura, who just got to do this like crazy spy by my issue just before this, I know what a world that is to jump into.
• 57:59
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
• 58:01
[SPEAKER_05]: I'll mention real quick, too, that I'm co-writing that with the great Joe Kelly, Joe Kelly a man that does not need my plug, but I do want to acknowledge him in what a fun time it's been working with him.
• 58:11
  [SPEAKER_05]: Oh my God.
• 58:12
[SPEAKER_02]: No Kelly is ready to fuck out of the amazing spider-man.
• 58:14
  [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, no kidding.
• 58:15
  [SPEAKER_05]: Doing a wonderful job.
• 58:16
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and it's so much fun to work with Joe.
• 58:18
  [SPEAKER_05]: He's at the light.
• 58:19
[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, tremendous joy to have you both on the show.
• 58:21
[SPEAKER_02]: I can't wait to see you again sometime and maybe a little bit of the other or we could talk about having you come back, uh, loved it, loved it, loved it.
• 58:28
[SPEAKER_02]: At the end of the month, stay tuned for the trial of Black Tom, Cassidy, who we are gleaming the show around a little bit this month.
• 58:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, my book, uh, Gamerman Dad, the new graphic novel I just released came out in May.
• 58:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I will be at the ALA conference in Chicago just after this episode is released.
• 58:42
[SPEAKER_02]: So if you see me come say hello and maybe I saw you in Toronto at T-Caf, uh, just before that.
• 58:47
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm also going to be at Flamengo.
• 58:47
  [SPEAKER_05]: team.
• 58:48
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we will be able to cross paths.
• 58:51
  [SPEAKER_02]: I'm really excited.
• 58:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we will be able to cross paths.
• 58:54
  [SPEAKER_02]: I'm really excited.
• 58:55
  [SPEAKER_02]: All of all.
• 58:55
[SPEAKER_04]: I did it into playing con for years.
• 58:58
  [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, fling con.
• 58:59
  [SPEAKER_02]: Excellent.
• 59:01
[SPEAKER_04]: Don't you realize in my foreign universe?
• 59:03
[SPEAKER_04]: I get to draw so many characters so much.
• 59:05
[SPEAKER_04]: I need to show people.
• 59:07
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, we'll follow the show at Grimmolk and underscore lane everybody.
• 59:09
[SPEAKER_02]: I keep my on social media private But thanks for all this support.
• 59:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you to Jordan and Alitha for a wonderful time today We'll see you all back here next week.
• 59:17
  [SPEAKER_02]: Hey everybody.
• 59:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back to the next episode of X-Men X-Pose On Grimmolk and Lane.
• 59:24
[SPEAKER_02]: This is my official content warning We're going to talk in very adult language.
• 59:28
[SPEAKER_02]: So if you have children or strangers around put your headphones in
• 59:31
[SPEAKER_02]: I have three of my very favorite people joining me for this lovely conversation.
• 59:35
[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm going to ask you each of the same question.
• 59:38
[SPEAKER_02]: Beginning with my friend Michael Doven is Piotra Rasputin Colossus Fuckable and why I guess depends on metal form or not.
• 59:46
  [SPEAKER_02]: But yes, very.
• 59:48
[SPEAKER_02]: How could you say no to that?
• 59:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Would you say no to the metal form?
• 59:51
  [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
• 59:51
  [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure it's doable.
• 59:53
  [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
• 59:54
  [SPEAKER_02]: Sean Perez here.
• 59:55
[SPEAKER_02]: Sean is Piotra Rasputin Fuckable and why?
• 59:58
[SPEAKER_00]: I think he definitely is because he's hot, but also you know how there's those like Dildos that like like you go up the size.
• 1:00:03
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what the metal form is.
• 1:00:05
[SPEAKER_00]: Once you're used to the regular, then you go up to the metal.
• 1:00:08
[SPEAKER_01]: And Scotty Degies does also hear.
• 1:00:10
  [SPEAKER_01]: Same question.
• 1:00:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, he was very me into Katie as well.
• 1:00:12
  [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't like that.
• 1:00:13
[SPEAKER_01]: So that for that, but then you grew up here and then I like.
• 1:00:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, if your closet was great.
• 1:00:18
  [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you're a steady.
• 1:00:19
[SPEAKER_02]: In some of you, I'm the, I'm apparently the only savior sexual in the room.
• 1:00:22
[SPEAKER_02]: He has the heart of an artist.
• 1:00:24
[SPEAKER_02]: He's a mom's boy takes care of his little sister.
• 1:00:27
  [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, he's so fuckable.
• 1:00:28
[SPEAKER_03]: You said fuckable, not dateable.
• 1:00:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, fuckable can mean the heart as well.
• 1:00:33
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, okay.
• 1:00:34
  [SPEAKER_02]: All right.
• 1:00:35
[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to talk about the sex life of Colossus a little bit.
• 1:00:38
[SPEAKER_02]: Scotty, let me have you start this one.
• 1:00:40
[SPEAKER_02]: We're gonna divide this into categories.
• 1:00:42
[SPEAKER_02]: There's the person you date, the person you fuck, and the person you take home to mom.
• 1:00:46
[SPEAKER_02]: For Colossus, who's the person he would or should date?
• 1:00:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Ship him with, who would he date?
• 1:00:53
[SPEAKER_01]: He had the very bad habit of having people that he loves died.
• 1:00:57
[SPEAKER_01]: So I feel like he's a date somebody who's very, like immortal.
• 1:01:00
  [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, like Carol Danvers.
• 1:01:02
[SPEAKER_01]: That sounds like good land for him.
• 1:01:03
  [SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't think that works.
• 1:01:08
[SPEAKER_02]: I think, uh, I think Kitty could fall into this category, depending on the era of classes.
• 1:01:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Sean, who is the girl, classes should?
• 1:01:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I guess it doesn't have to be a girl.
• 1:01:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Who should classes just fuck?
• 1:01:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Who falls into that category for him?
• 1:01:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I would say he dated her at one point, but Colisto, like she's a wild child, like she can get it on and teach him some things, but she's not going to be attached.
• 1:01:29
[SPEAKER_02]: He'd pay her naked, neither of them knew who they were.
• 1:01:32
[SPEAKER_02]: It was a good time.
• 1:01:34
[SPEAKER_02]: And who is the guy or the person that Colossus would take home to mom where she's still alive.
• 1:01:39
[SPEAKER_03]: I honestly think it should be a nobody.
• 1:01:41
[SPEAKER_03]: I think he would do well with like his own like Alicia Masters like someone who's just a person who has an artist's soul as well.
• 1:01:49
  [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I, I, I like him with Kitty to a degree.
• 1:01:52
[SPEAKER_03]: I, yeah, I think that's not an over that should fail.
• 1:01:56
[SPEAKER_02]: I, uh, I kind of liked him with that like water girl Kayla from the Krikoa era, but then he was forced to murder her.
• 1:02:03
[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I weirdly, I wrote a colossal story that will likely never be published, but I wrote him in a romantic relationship with Siren or Theresa.
• 1:02:11
[SPEAKER_02]: And in my brain, it works beautifully.
• 1:02:14
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to read that because I'm a fan of both.
• 1:02:16
  [SPEAKER_02]: I like them both.
• 1:02:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, Mr. Doobin, if you want to continue, what are Colossus's turn-ons?
• 1:02:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm, anyone who looks at his art first of all and tells him that it's pretty.
• 1:02:27
  [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
• 1:02:27
[SPEAKER_03]: Basically anyone who gives him an attention based on like the savage land incident and domino and colisto and I think anyone who gives him some attention
• 1:02:37
[SPEAKER_03]: Sean, what are Colossus' turn-offs?
• 1:02:41
  [SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, turn-offs.
• 1:02:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I think any sharp metal objects, because he's thinking like that can scratch me and like, more of my metal skin.
• 1:02:50
  [SPEAKER_02]: Hmm.
• 1:02:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I think capitalism is a threat to you.
• 1:02:57
[SPEAKER_02]: And Scotty, what are Colossus's kinks?
• 1:03:00
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no.
• 1:03:01
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like he has a king about gymnastics.
• 1:03:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Like he likes like all of those kinds of things.
• 1:03:07
[SPEAKER_01]: He really enjoys like singlets and things like that.
• 1:03:10
[SPEAKER_02]: He definitely dates women who are smaller than him.
• 1:03:13
[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm thinking back to that scene where everyone.
• 1:03:15
[SPEAKER_02]: He like made Kitty face through the floor because she's like, yes, that was a whole thing.
• 1:03:20
[SPEAKER_02]: That was a whole thing.
• 1:03:22
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like he has a weird, like, metal fixation, like, when he's fucking, he wants to, like, rub different metals on him because he likes the way they feel.
• 1:03:29
[SPEAKER_02]: We missed my favorite Colossus relationship.
• 1:03:32
[SPEAKER_02]: It took it a moment to dawn on me.
• 1:03:33
[SPEAKER_02]: I love Colossus with domino.
• 1:03:35
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
• 1:03:36
[SPEAKER_02]: No, I did like them.
• 1:03:36
  [SPEAKER_02]: Excellent.
• 1:03:37
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
• 1:03:37
[SPEAKER_02]: That's the girl he fugs.
• 1:03:39
  [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
• 1:03:39
  [SPEAKER_03]: It's a good, they're good together.
• 1:03:40
  [SPEAKER_03]: And I think it's because I think he's kinky.
• 1:03:43
  [SPEAKER_03]: I think he's a little wild.
• 1:03:44
[SPEAKER_03]: I think he likes being a little submissive honestly.
• 1:03:46
[SPEAKER_03]: He's this very tough guy.
• 1:03:47
[SPEAKER_02]: I think he thinks he likes a girl that's like his mom, but really, he likes him to dominate it.
• 1:03:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, and this is unfortunate because it's his sister, and I don't mean it in that way.
• 1:03:55
[SPEAKER_02]: But he likes a dark child a little bit.
• 1:03:57
[SPEAKER_02]: I get Callisto Domino, right?
• 1:04:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Like there's a side of him that I think that's the way that would really fulfill him, but he really wants to want to kiddie.
• 1:04:05
[SPEAKER_02]: That's how it works in that way.
• 1:04:07
[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, this is the section of the show that we call what those powers do.
• 1:04:11
[SPEAKER_03]: Doven and the losses is just hard metal the whole time.
• 1:04:15
[SPEAKER_03]: How would the sex be?
• 1:04:16
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you definitely have to be on bottom.
• 1:04:18
  [SPEAKER_03]: He'd be heavy.
• 1:04:19
  [SPEAKER_03]: He crush you.
• 1:04:20
  [SPEAKER_03]: I think it'd be good.
• 1:04:21
[SPEAKER_03]: Would do you need Lou if you've got WD40?
• 1:04:24
  [SPEAKER_03]: Well, I would.
• 1:04:26
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know how WD40 would work on human places.
• 1:04:30
  [SPEAKER_02]: Oil can.
• 1:04:33
  [SPEAKER_03]: Shut that.
• 1:04:34
  [SPEAKER_03]: That's the that's the safe word.
• 1:04:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Shut how could sex with the classes be assuming he transforms in the middle of sex And we're gonna with zoom.
• 1:04:42
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like the video game where he makes that like rrrr So and shoots energy everywhere.
• 1:04:48
  [SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
• 1:04:48
  [SPEAKER_02]: That's his old face.
• 1:04:49
  [SPEAKER_02]: Wait, what's the question?
• 1:04:51
[SPEAKER_02]: How would sex be he would transform in the middle?
• 1:04:54
[SPEAKER_02]: We're talking about but like superpile sex here
• 1:04:56
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like I don't think that would be great.
• 1:04:58
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, he's gonna get larger everywhere, but also what does that power feel like?
• 1:05:02
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, it could be really hot, but it could be really painful at the same time.
• 1:05:06
[SPEAKER_02]: We could only see Sean from the shoulders up, so I'm assuming you're scared and a little turned on right now.
• 1:05:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm sitting on my colossus action figure.
• 1:05:15
  [SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, no.
• 1:05:19
[SPEAKER_02]: and Scott, we're assuming Colossus can just turn certain parts of him metal at a given time.
• 1:05:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, what would you do with that in the bedroom?
• 1:05:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that evening, uh, the Kinky wouldn't it?
• 1:05:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Like he could just like a little like appendages of him metal and you can see where that could go.
• 1:05:35
[SPEAKER_01]: See, I guess that'd be kind of entertaining.
• 1:05:38
  [SPEAKER_02]: Colossus in the bedroom.
• 1:05:40
  [SPEAKER_02]: I think he's probably a very studious lover.
• 1:05:42
[SPEAKER_02]: I think he is likely to make sure his partner orgasms first I think he likes a lot of aftercare.
• 1:05:49
[SPEAKER_02]: There's some pillow talk, but I think there's a little bit of a kinky side I think Cyclops is kinky here, but do we have any thoughts on the sex life of Colossus?
• 1:05:57
  [SPEAKER_02]: None at all.
• 1:05:58
[SPEAKER_02]: I agree you are like what did I fucking join?
• 1:06:00
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm betting he is a kinky AF, but then afterwards he is racked with guilt and shame.
• 1:06:06
[SPEAKER_03]: Mm, and he has to paint his feelings.
• 1:06:09
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah, he sits on a warf all night long.
• 1:06:13
[SPEAKER_02]: He's so pretty, I love the hard day of farming, and then he paint the night.
• 1:06:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I'm yeah, I'm here for it.
• 1:06:19
[SPEAKER_02]: I'll read him some poetry.
• 1:06:20
  [SPEAKER_00]: We'll have a great time.
• 1:06:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I still don't care about the problem.
• 1:06:25
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like he's not afraid of but stuff to like he likes to grow the put in a finger to again, a little WD 40 goes along way with your magnetic metal.
• 1:06:33
[SPEAKER_02]: All right, John, you're answering for Colossus.
• 1:06:36
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to have you go first here.
• 1:06:38
[SPEAKER_02]: We all have to agree.
• 1:06:40
[SPEAKER_02]: You're answering four classes, and I sent this in a man's Fuck Mary Kill.
• 1:06:43
[SPEAKER_02]: We're leaning into Hollywood archetypes a little bit here.
• 1:06:47
[SPEAKER_02]: We have the tin man from the Wizard of Oz.
• 1:06:49
[SPEAKER_02]: We have steel from the DC universe, and we have the silver surfer.
• 1:06:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Each of them with metal skin named for the metal.
• 1:06:57
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a trope that exists which one would classes choose to Fuck Mary and Kill.
• 1:07:02
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Colossus is not going to be into the tin man because he's not even a person anymore.
• 1:07:08
[SPEAKER_00]: He's just going to kill him, which is basically like recycling if you think about it.
• 1:07:11
[SPEAKER_00]: So he's not going to feel bad about it either.
• 1:07:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I think he's going to fuck silver surfer because the thing is, they try to marry or date silver surfer is like really deep about everything like he's going to be like, where does this take him from?
• 1:07:24
  [SPEAKER_00]: Let's think about this.
• 1:07:25
[SPEAKER_00]: So he's going to end up with, um, who's last one?
• 1:07:29
  [SPEAKER_00]: Deal.
• 1:07:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, him and still they're going to get a long great because they're like every man who are artists.
• 1:07:35
  [SPEAKER_00]: Mr. Doven thoughts.
• 1:07:36
  [SPEAKER_03]: No, I agree.
• 1:07:37
[SPEAKER_03]: I think tin man has nothing to offer.
• 1:07:40
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think Noron Ratt would be a lot of fun for a little bit, you know, space sex on a surfboard.
• 1:07:45
[SPEAKER_03]: But I think, well, let me clarify, are we talking about Shaquille O'Neill steel?
• 1:07:50
[SPEAKER_03]: Are we talking about comic book steel?
• 1:07:53
  [SPEAKER_02]: I suppose.
• 1:07:54
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, because, you know, that 30 foot Superman bed of Shaquille's, you know, would accommodate both him and Colossus.
• 1:08:01
[SPEAKER_03]: But no, yeah, definitely Mary comic book steal.
• 1:08:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Because he is a just a good dude.
• 1:08:06
  [SPEAKER_02]: He's smart.
• 1:08:07
[SPEAKER_03]: He's one of the most brilliant people in the DCU.
• 1:08:09
  [SPEAKER_03]: He's got a good heart.
• 1:08:10
[SPEAKER_03]: He stands up for what's right.
• 1:08:12
[SPEAKER_03]: I think that would be a good chipping there.
• 1:08:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Scott, I agree with all of this.
• 1:08:16
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that Noren and Peter would appear to her would initially both end off.
• 1:08:23
[SPEAKER_01]: And they'd be like, oh, this is so great.
• 1:08:24
[SPEAKER_01]: And they would get tired of each other almost immediately.
• 1:08:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Just sitting boardly on the server, looking at each other being boarded.
• 1:08:31
  [SPEAKER_01]: a little bit, right?
• 1:08:32
[SPEAKER_01]: And like, because Nora and Nora's very full of solvable and classes is very artistic, but like not really the other way around.
• 1:08:38
[SPEAKER_01]: So like I think they both like say, just deep things to each other.
• 1:08:40
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's all the time.
• 1:08:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, why are you talking about this?
• 1:08:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it has a little bit in common with all three of these, but I think you're throwing away the 10 man a little too fast.
• 1:08:48
[SPEAKER_02]: This is a man who has an axe who's using in the woods and who uses oil cans to lose himself up all the time, but also he's in search of a heart, like the heart matters a lot for this guy.
• 1:09:00
[SPEAKER_03]: where I feel like he's not just for no heart, but also genitalia.
• 1:09:04
[SPEAKER_02]: But all three of them are missing.
• 1:09:07
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they've got it.
• 1:09:09
  [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, noron's fully naked a lot of the time.
• 1:09:12
[SPEAKER_02]: I think he can power Cosmic himself a penis, and still is just a spiel's a guy, so he's got stuff.
• 1:09:20
  [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a cyborg, I think.
• 1:09:22
  [SPEAKER_02]: No, he's a dude.
• 1:09:23
[SPEAKER_02]: I think Colossus could hit it off with the tin man.
• 1:09:26
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it could work.
• 1:09:27
[SPEAKER_02]: He would crush him, but I think it could work.
• 1:09:30
[SPEAKER_02]: I need illustrations of the sex life of Colossus.
• 1:09:33
[SPEAKER_02]: It would be so noisy that we could be extremely extremely talented.
• 1:09:38
  [SPEAKER_03]: You're listening to this.
• 1:09:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Go get it on those food and bang it against a pan a bunch of times.
