- 0:21Speaker 1: I am thrilled that this man is joining us right now.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Always makes time for us during his busiest times. He's
- 0:27Speaker 1: calling Game one of the Stanley Cup Finals tonight.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Eight o'clock, eight o'clock on ABC.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Sean, you're more excited for you're staying in Carolina or
- 0:36Speaker 1: you're stay in Las Vegas.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Uh, you know, I don't get to see much of
- 0:41Speaker 3: either of them. Really, They're both nice hotels, really nice
- 0:44Speaker 3: here in Carolina. Obviously Vegas is Vegas.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Uh, you know, gonna try to sneak out, as you know,
- 0:51Speaker 3: if I get any free time, I've got to sneak
- 0:52Speaker 3: out and play golf. So we are going to play
- 0:54Speaker 3: at Old Chatham Wow here in Raleigh, just outside Raleigh,
- 0:58Speaker 3: which is a fantastic place looking forward to.
- 1:00Speaker 4: I say, oh, I don't know what that is. It
- 1:02Speaker 4: just sounds really nice Chatham.
- 1:04Speaker 1: No, he texted me that earlier. Yeah, and I have
- 1:07Speaker 1: I've never been there. I have friends who have played
- 1:09Speaker 1: it and they say it's a magical place.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Magical. Yeah, from the minute you get there, and you know,
- 1:15Speaker 3: it's great golf course and it's just one of those
- 1:17Speaker 3: places too where they do everything right, you know, just
- 1:20Speaker 3: the whole the general manager, John Marino, the pros, the
- 1:23Speaker 3: everybody there is just fantastic, and a lot of the
- 1:26Speaker 3: Carolina Hurricanes play there.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Matter of fact, they've had a chance to have a
- 1:30Speaker 3: few extra rounds because you know, after they swept the
- 1:33Speaker 3: first round, they had a week off, and then after
- 1:34Speaker 3: they swept the second round, they had eleven days off.
- 1:36Speaker 3: So when I talked to John Marino, I said, you've
- 1:39Speaker 3: seen some of the Hurricanes out. They said, yeah, they
- 1:42Speaker 3: were actually un here quite a bit because they had
- 1:43Speaker 3: a lot of time to kill. They're waiting to find
- 1:45Speaker 3: out where they were going to be playing in the
- 1:46Speaker 3: next round.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Yes, have you mapped out golf in Vegas yet or
- 1:49Speaker 1: are we just doing the weak Yes?
- 1:51Speaker 3: Yeah, we're still work in progress. Okay, but yeah, we've
- 1:55Speaker 3: got at least one good option. We have a couple
- 1:58Speaker 3: of extra days there. You know, they moved the series
- 2:02Speaker 3: up two days, but it kind of threw off the
- 2:04Speaker 3: cadence there. Used to be like we're going to have
- 2:07Speaker 3: here game one, a day off, Game two, and then
- 2:10Speaker 3: two travel days. But because they moved the schedule up,
- 2:14Speaker 3: now the travel days aren't necessarily the travel days like
- 2:17Speaker 3: we have Game three in Vegas then there are two
- 2:19Speaker 3: days off in Vegas dangerous, yes, and then a game.
- 2:24Speaker 3: But those two days off are really good if you
- 2:27Speaker 3: want to, you know, grip it and sort of rip it.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Yes, if you just go to the Win hotel. I
- 2:32Speaker 1: have no idea where you're staying. Ask for fred He's
- 2:34Speaker 1: a friend of mine. He runs all the golf there.
- 2:36Speaker 1: He will put you out on that.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Whatever you want giving up on that is he in
- 2:39Speaker 3: the end.
- 2:40Speaker 2: You're what do you mean right now?
- 2:43Speaker 3: Because let's revisit the I do take time for you,
- 2:46Speaker 3: for you and for this group on days went like
- 2:49Speaker 3: the National Championship college football game, now's just bad. Yeah,
- 2:53Speaker 3: And fellas, did mister Miami not say that he was
- 2:57Speaker 3: going to get us a better booth location for the
- 3:00Speaker 3: National Championship radio broadcast at the home of Miami Dolphins.
- 3:04Speaker 2: I am telling you I gave Taylor that assignment.
- 3:07Speaker 3: They were in. We were in this little basket at
- 3:11Speaker 3: the minus twenty five yards. Remember when Fernando Mendoza scored
- 3:16Speaker 3: that touchdown he ran, he got spun around. That was
- 3:19Speaker 3: about a half a mile away from where we were. Yeah,
- 3:22Speaker 3: so I'm not reaching out to your guy, Freddie, Frankie,
- 3:26Speaker 3: Bobby anywhere.
- 3:28Speaker 5: In fact, Sean, he is the king of gestures. He's
- 3:31Speaker 5: a great person to tell you something that he's going
- 3:33Speaker 5: to do, but then he doesn't do it and then
- 3:35Speaker 5: just blames Taylor.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Yeah, Taylor, it is naughty. Mikey is noddy.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Well, I don't know how Taylor. I gave him two
- 3:44Speaker 2: weeks to get it.
- 3:45Speaker 3: I'm still waiting. I was still I sat that post
- 3:48Speaker 3: in Miami for like three more days waiting, and I
- 3:53Speaker 3: gotta tell you, you wouldn't know it was a half
- 3:55Speaker 3: mile away by the call. It was awesome, Yes, yes,
- 3:59Speaker 3: but you know I was calling it off the TV monitor.
- 4:02Speaker 3: So no, Actually, who should I reach out to?
- 4:05Speaker 1: I already reached out to him. His name is Fred
- 4:07Speaker 1: over at the wind He runs the golf there. He's
- 4:09Speaker 1: going to respond to me. By the end of this interview,
- 4:11Speaker 1: I will tell you that.
- 4:12Speaker 3: That's so nice. That looks like a nice course.
- 4:14Speaker 5: Well, while we're piling on Stugatts, you guys know I'm
- 4:17Speaker 5: a huge puckhead. Stuart's the Stanley Cup Final, Yes final,
- 4:20Speaker 5: Sorry sorry sorry about that. Also, and you guys know
- 4:23Speaker 5: I'm a big Panthers fan. And this is I don't
- 4:26Speaker 5: think this is hate watching Sean because I hate both sides.
- 4:29Speaker 5: I don't know what to do when I can't stand
- 4:31Speaker 5: the Carolina Hurricanes, and I also can't stand Vegas who
- 4:34Speaker 5: had that six year drought before they won a championship
- 4:37Speaker 5: and now they're right back at it. How am I
- 4:38Speaker 5: supposed to enjoy this as a Panthers fan? Please help me?
- 4:41Speaker 3: Well? Please? Do you know I hope not turn in
- 4:44Speaker 3: at all. You know, we need every viewer we can go.
- 4:47Speaker 3: I got a nice run of record ratings and we
- 4:49Speaker 3: want to keep that going. But yeah, I think there
- 4:53Speaker 3: are a lot of It's first of all, as you know,
- 4:55Speaker 3: I mean, playoff hockey's awesome. I'm not I don't think
- 4:58Speaker 3: there's anything better. I get a lot of tech messages
- 5:00Speaker 3: from friends of mine or hockey fans. Are there anything
- 5:03Speaker 3: better than the Stanley Cup playoffs? And maybe there are
- 5:06Speaker 3: things that are as good, but I don't think there's
- 5:08Speaker 3: anything better. So, you know, a lot of great storylines
- 5:11Speaker 3: on both sides, a lot of individuals to root for.
- 5:16Speaker 3: You know, I brought Rod brindanmore I think is one
- 5:18Speaker 3: of the best guys in the NHL, just one of
- 5:20Speaker 3: the best people, and you know, he finally kind of
- 5:22Speaker 3: got through the Eastern Conference final roadblock that they hadn't
- 5:27Speaker 3: be able to get passed. You know, it would be
- 5:29Speaker 3: really cool. I mean, he was the captain of the
- 5:31Speaker 3: last team that played in the Stanley Cup Final. John Tortorella.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Most people who know him love him. He's hard to
- 5:37Speaker 3: love if you just kind of see some of the
- 5:39Speaker 3: sound bites and you wouldn't think he was a particularly
- 5:41Speaker 3: nice guy. But he's much loved by most people within
- 5:45Speaker 3: the game. You know, he's gone more than twenty years
- 5:46Speaker 3: since he was in the final.
- 5:48Speaker 5: So yeah, Sean, I do I do need you to
- 5:52Speaker 5: explain if you can the Golden Knights to us, because
- 5:57Speaker 5: you know, the Panthers, for example, one more game games
- 6:00Speaker 5: than they did and now with Towrterrello, you mentioned them
- 6:02Speaker 5: being here. Can somebody make sense of this to me?
- 6:05Speaker 5: And by the way's still here. You just can't see him.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Yeah, what, I don't know. Maybe he's calling my golf
- 6:10Speaker 3: concierge at.
- 6:12Speaker 1: I'm taking as he charger because he stole my and
- 6:14Speaker 1: my computer's dead every time.
- 6:17Speaker 3: And that's another thing, every time I moned. Maybe it's me,
- 6:20Speaker 3: but I promise no technical problem doesn't work. I'm at
- 6:28Speaker 3: Syracuse in a special studio at the Communications School, and
- 6:32Speaker 3: we can't get that to work. I mean, it's just like,
- 6:35Speaker 3: I don't know, how does this thing get on the
- 6:37Speaker 3: air day after day after day, especially knowing that Mikey
- 6:40Speaker 3: and Taylor is buttoned up as they can possibly be.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Anyway, except when I asked Taylor to get that broadcast located.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Yes, well, but to answer your question, yeah, if the
- 6:53Speaker 3: if the I was just reading my in my fancy
- 6:55Speaker 3: little research notes I'm highlighting if the if Vegas had
- 7:01Speaker 3: been in the Eastern Conference, they would not have made
- 7:03Speaker 3: the playoffs. Right with ninety five points in the West,
- 7:07Speaker 3: they won the Pacific Division. I think the answer is
- 7:12Speaker 3: they're a really good team. They their goaltending struggled a
- 7:16Speaker 3: lot of the year. They had injuries to goalies, and
- 7:19Speaker 3: then the goalies who were healthy and playing weren't playing
- 7:21Speaker 3: very well. So I think the biggest reason a while,
- 7:25Speaker 3: even though Tortorella has gotten most of the credit, I
- 7:28Speaker 3: think the biggest reason why they went on this run
- 7:30Speaker 3: at the end of the regular season and have continued
- 7:32Speaker 3: it into the playoffs is Carter Hart. You know, the
- 7:34Speaker 3: goalie he's he's towards started him for six of the
- 7:38Speaker 3: last eight regular season games. He won all six. That's
- 7:41Speaker 3: why they made him the number one goalie here to
- 7:43Speaker 3: start the playoffs. And he's been, you know, as good
- 7:46Speaker 3: as anybody. Ian Freddie Anderson, who's obviously the goalie for Carolina. Oh,
- 7:50Speaker 3: there he is. You get your charge. Yeah, then you go.
- 7:53Speaker 3: I see. But now it's confusing to because you've moved
- 7:56Speaker 3: in a different you know, we have these Brady bunch
- 7:58Speaker 3: zoom things and now you're over there.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Yeah, so you don't need this, I mean just hours
- 8:03Speaker 1: before you're calling game one of the Stanley Cup.
- 8:05Speaker 3: I mean no. I'm glad though, because it gave me
- 8:08Speaker 3: a chance to vent because that booth thing in Miami.
- 8:11Speaker 3: And I meant to mention it when I was on
- 8:13Speaker 3: with you the last time. Yeah, I got nothing to do.
- 8:15Speaker 3: I was I doing the last time. It was some
- 8:17Speaker 3: big game the day of and uh yeah, I meant
- 8:22Speaker 3: to mention the last time. Now I can, I can.
- 8:25Speaker 3: I'm a free man. Now I can go on National
- 8:27Speaker 3: TV tonight and feel good that I'm.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Part of the club. A lot of people he's let down.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Nothing that's going to happen tonight will be more challenging
- 8:34Speaker 1: than doing this interview with us.
- 8:36Speaker 2: So you're in good shape, You're right?
- 8:37Speaker 3: Yes, Well with you that's the team. I have no problem.
- 8:41Speaker 3: They didn't promise to get me a better booth of
- 8:43Speaker 3: tea time a restaurant. Well, they just they just the solid,
- 8:49Speaker 3: good teammates that they are.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Yes, I'm waiting to hear back from Fred here, but
- 8:54Speaker 1: this Carolina team is so overwhelming, sean it.
- 8:57Speaker 3: We don't need Fred. I've got a million T time.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Don't you know you don't need what I mean?
- 9:01Speaker 1: Why am I offering you the booths in Miami?
- 9:05Speaker 2: Right, He's never been upsets dude, He's no, he's not
- 9:09Speaker 2: gonna let it. This is this is the most upset
- 9:11Speaker 2: I've ever rightfully.
- 9:12Speaker 3: So, I'm so easy going and my pulse I can't believe.
- 9:16Speaker 3: But game day one of the Stanley Cup Final, I'm
- 9:21Speaker 3: I'm literally worried about my my physical and mental health
- 9:24Speaker 3: right now, always worried about my mental health, as as
- 9:28Speaker 3: we all should be. But anyway, we digress.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I was going to say, I find it hard to
- 9:34Speaker 1: believe because Caroline has been so overwhelming the entire season
- 9:37Speaker 1: and the postseason, and I keep doubting Vegas.
- 9:40Speaker 2: But Vegas keeps moving on in the playoffs.
- 9:43Speaker 1: But I just have a hard time seeing Carolina lose
- 9:45Speaker 1: in the Stanley Cup Final.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Uh, what do you think.
- 9:48Speaker 3: The only team that was more overwhelmingly dominant in the
- 9:51Speaker 3: regular season was Colorado. Yeah, and they started out thirty one,
- 9:56Speaker 3: two and seven, which is ridiculous. You know, they won
- 9:59Speaker 3: the Residence Trophy comfortably. They went eight and one in
- 10:02Speaker 3: the first two rounds of the playoffs, beat Minnesota in five.
- 10:05Speaker 3: A lot of people thought that, well, that's going to
- 10:07Speaker 3: be an epic series, and Minnesota is really good, and
- 10:09Speaker 3: they really were good. They know, they were dominant and
- 10:12Speaker 3: everybody said, well, who's going to beat them? And then
- 10:13Speaker 3: Vegas swept them right out of the playoffs. So I
- 10:16Speaker 3: think these are two really evenly matched teams. They play
- 10:19Speaker 3: a very similar style. I mean, they're attacking and relentless,
- 10:23Speaker 3: and you know, they play four lines. Their scoring is
- 10:26Speaker 3: spread out. They're getting good goaltending, which you know for
- 10:30Speaker 3: Carolina that hasn't always been the case in the playoffs
- 10:33Speaker 3: in the past. But Freddy's been terrific and caught a
- 10:36Speaker 3: hot as we say in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, has
- 10:40Speaker 3: also been It's very hard for me to say his
- 10:42Speaker 3: name sometimes I shortened it. I in one series, one
- 10:46Speaker 3: game earlier in the playoffs, I called them kart, which
- 10:49Speaker 3: I know, but once and I was actually joke. I
- 10:52Speaker 3: was playing golf rare trip on the golf course in
- 10:55Speaker 3: Vegas with Dave Gosher, who is the great play by
- 10:58Speaker 3: play guy for the Vegas Goal, and I was joking
- 11:01Speaker 3: about I called him Kart, and then he said he
- 11:06Speaker 3: called when they had Jonathan Marshasso and Barbershev. One time
- 11:09Speaker 3: he called somebody Marshev and Howden and Hannafin became Howdi Finn.
- 11:18Speaker 3: So now the next game, every time Howden had the puck,
- 11:21Speaker 3: because we joked so much about it, I had to
- 11:23Speaker 3: not call him. You know, I wish I hadn't had
- 11:26Speaker 3: that conversation with Dave because now it's in my head.
- 11:28Speaker 3: So so now tonight we're gonna have how a fey
- 11:33Speaker 3: of I think I'm trying to work on things like
- 11:35Speaker 3: how I can shorten it.
- 11:47Speaker 6: Sean, I was reading an article that you were calling
- 11:50Speaker 6: college basketball games. You got to know Tom Crean. Tom Crean,
- 11:54Speaker 6: who was the brother in law of John and Jim Harbaugh,
- 11:56Speaker 6: asked you to play in their celebrity golf tournament. You
- 11:59Speaker 6: became friends with John Harbaugh. So through your friendship with
- 12:03Speaker 6: John Harbaugh, what is something that people don't know about coach?
- 12:06Speaker 3: Wow, coach Harbaugh? Coach. Yeah, that might be the greatest
- 12:11Speaker 3: segue in the history of communications.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes.
- 12:16Speaker 3: I love that. That's awesome.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Right.
- 12:19Speaker 3: What what don't people know about John Harbaugh?
- 12:22Speaker 1: Now he's got to go through the rolodecks and really
- 12:24Speaker 1: think about it, because there's a reason thing that people
- 12:26Speaker 1: don't know, whatever it is.
- 12:29Speaker 3: I mean, I think the things that I appreciate about
- 12:32Speaker 3: people know. I mean he's, you know, obviously a great coach,
- 12:36Speaker 3: great person, great family guy, tremendous family guy, person of
- 12:40Speaker 3: tremendous religious faith. Crappy golfer, I mean crappy. His wife's
- 12:47Speaker 3: better than he is really on a relative scale. Ingrid
- 12:52Speaker 3: the but he doesn't play much and he doesn't even
- 12:54Speaker 3: like it. You know, when we when they come out
- 12:55Speaker 3: to Arizona, we play because Ingrid likes to play, and
- 12:57Speaker 3: John just kind of goes along for the ride. Great dad.
- 13:01Speaker 3: You know, their daughter, Allison played college lacrosse and she's
- 13:04Speaker 3: in law school now. He's super proud of her. I
- 13:08Speaker 3: don't know what else there, you know, yeah, the stuff,
- 13:14Speaker 3: the other stuff.
- 13:14Speaker 5: I probably shouldn't say, you know what that is actually,
- 13:17Speaker 5: because if I'm going to like John Harbaugh, if he's
- 13:20Speaker 5: just a bad golfer who.
- 13:21Speaker 4: Goes along for the ride, that's my people.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Maybe I take it he's a great He's just he's
- 13:27Speaker 3: as fine a person as I know. I mean this,
- 13:31Speaker 3: you know, he's just, he really is. He's uh, you
- 13:35Speaker 3: know any any I don't want to say because it's
- 13:38Speaker 3: self indulgent, but yeah, he's a great friend. He's coming
- 13:42Speaker 3: to this uh this this National Sportscaster of the Year
- 13:46Speaker 3: award that somehow I won because I think I was
- 13:50Speaker 3: the only voter the uh's. He and Ingrid are coming
- 13:53Speaker 3: to the banquet in Greensboro, North Carolina. I mean, he
- 13:56Speaker 3: has a lot to do. When is it why you
- 14:00Speaker 3: gotta get me a better table?
- 14:01Speaker 2: No, No, I'm thinking about sending Taylor to go to it.
- 14:05Speaker 2: I mean, that's all. I mean.
- 14:08Speaker 3: It's June twenty ninth, June twenty nine, greylen Borough, North Carolina.
- 14:13Speaker 4: You've had Sean on way too much.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Now.
- 14:15Speaker 4: He knows you way too well.
- 14:16Speaker 2: He knows me very well.
- 14:17Speaker 1: But I'm wondering why we never see Sean McDonough. We
- 14:19Speaker 1: see Joe Buck out there. How come we never see
- 14:21Speaker 1: Sean McDonough. Perhaps he's calling baseball games Lake Tahoe Tournament. Why,
- 14:25Speaker 1: I mean, we need to get you out here.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Well that's changing too. You will see Sean McDonough in
- 14:29Speaker 3: Lake tal Yeah, how about it. Yes, I got invited. Yeah,
- 14:35Speaker 3: I got invited, and I was very happy when David
- 14:39Speaker 3: Mueller from NBC told me, don't worry. We only show
- 14:42Speaker 3: good shots. Where you hit a screaming line drive to
- 14:47Speaker 3: kill somebody, We're not going to show it. So, yes,
- 14:51Speaker 3: I actually did hit a woman. It's playing in the point.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Does that mean I have to go when stuck gun
- 14:58Speaker 3: starts giving you? Oh?
- 15:00Speaker 1: No, no, I was telling him. I had a small question.
- 15:02Speaker 1: But is he made a very important distinction there? You
- 15:04Speaker 1: hit a woman with a golf ball?
- 15:05Speaker 3: Yeah? Well yeah. I was playing in the Deutsche Bank
- 15:10Speaker 3: Pro Am, which is our old PG tournament outside of Boston,
- 15:14Speaker 3: and I hit a draw sometimes a hook. Lucas Glover
- 15:19Speaker 3: was our pro and he called me sling blade because
- 15:22Speaker 3: I sling the ball like this. So we get on
- 15:26Speaker 3: the seventeenth hole, which is as a dog leg left.
- 15:28Speaker 3: It's perfect for me. He's all right, sling blade. You know,
- 15:31Speaker 3: this is a great old for you, sling one around
- 15:32Speaker 3: the corner. So of course I hit a high block
- 15:35Speaker 3: into the luxury, into the suites, and I got up
- 15:39Speaker 3: there to say, you know, like, oh my god. Ball
- 15:42Speaker 3: went into the private box and there was an older
- 15:46Speaker 3: woman and she had an oxygen and I'm like, oh
- 15:50Speaker 3: my god, they got here fast. It turns out she
- 15:53Speaker 3: was already on oxygen before, but for other health issues.
- 16:00Speaker 3: But I, you know, and I don't get recognized that often.
- 16:02Speaker 3: Of course I can over there and I walk on.
- 16:04Speaker 3: I'm so sorry. She said, oh it's you. I used
- 16:08Speaker 3: to like you. I was like fans I have. Yeah,
- 16:13Speaker 3: I'm a little worried about hitting people with golf balls,
- 16:16Speaker 3: but I do feel some relief that they promised not
- 16:19Speaker 3: to show bad shots.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Listen. I couldn't get the booth done in Miami.
- 16:23Speaker 1: I couldn't get you a better location, but I did
- 16:25Speaker 1: call NBC and I got you invited to like Tahoe.
- 16:27Speaker 2: So you're well, I mean, goody good.
- 16:31Speaker 3: That is just that it really is relentless. I mean,
- 16:35Speaker 3: I think Charles Barkley might have had a little more
- 16:39Speaker 3: to do with again, Charles Charles. I think Charles interceded
- 16:46Speaker 3: on my behalf. Yes, actually I know we did, but
- 16:49Speaker 3: I don't think that. I think I might have been
- 16:51Speaker 3: invited anyway. But it certainly doesn't help. But that event
- 16:54Speaker 3: hurt if Charles is gonna stand up for you.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Taylor thinks the thing that people lie most about in
- 17:01Speaker 1: sports is their handicap.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Do you agree?
- 17:06Speaker 3: Yeah? I mean you at the d of the gym system, right,
- 17:10Speaker 3: it's fair for the you know, for everybody to see.
- 17:14Speaker 3: I just told the NBC people when I knew I
- 17:17Speaker 3: was a candidate, I'm better than billis Well, even though
- 17:20Speaker 3: he lies, you know, he says he has a better handicap.
- 17:23Speaker 3: He's one of those vanity handicapped people where he says
- 17:28Speaker 3: he's a five and he's probably a twelve. Yes, so
- 17:30Speaker 3: you want to play, well, we used to do the
- 17:31Speaker 3: Maui Invitational. We play every morning at the Plantation Course
- 17:37Speaker 3: at Capitoloo And like, how much do you want to
- 17:40Speaker 3: play for Jay? You know, because it's like he was
- 17:42Speaker 3: giving me shots. It's like just so, and he's in
- 17:47Speaker 3: that tournament. Do you ever see his name on the
- 17:49Speaker 3: leader thing?
- 17:50Speaker 2: Nope?
- 17:50Speaker 1: Nope, nope, we see him all the time. I see
- 17:52Speaker 1: him the entire weekend, but never on the leader board. No,
- 17:54Speaker 1: you're right, do you play that I played in the program.
- 17:57Speaker 1: I don't play in the full tournament though, so I'm
- 17:58Speaker 1: not there broadcasting.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Freddy Freddy from the Wind. Can't catch you in. No.
- 18:02Speaker 1: But yeah, I'm glad you mentioned Freddy from the Wind
- 18:04Speaker 1: because he wrote me back and said McDonough is royalty here.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Whenever he wants to play, just tell him to come
- 18:09Speaker 2: see me.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:11Speaker 4: I don't need to do that.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Yes, well he didn't need me. He could have just.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Walked well, added to the list.
- 18:18Speaker 2: We have some other options, Uh, quickly here? Yeah, yeah,
- 18:25Speaker 2: inviting me? I mean, what's happened?
- 18:27Speaker 3: My phone is ring? Yeah, fred it's to see you
- 18:30Speaker 3: in Lake Tahoe.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Yes, we'll be out there the entire week broadcasting. We've
- 18:34Speaker 1: been there, uh, crew with with most.
- 18:38Speaker 5: Of this crew, I hope, Yes, I mean, listen, I'm
- 18:40Speaker 5: there if you allow me to, you're right.
- 18:43Speaker 2: My permission to go just call.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Bred Absolutely, the more the merrier, I'll put a fly McDonough.
- 18:50Speaker 1: I'm putting a flyer on you to win the whole thing. Okay,
- 18:52Speaker 1: you're a good golfer. I know you are.
- 18:54Speaker 3: I'm not like Taylor Twelveman. Yeah, Taylor is one of
- 18:58Speaker 3: my golf buddies from Boston. We played a decent amount
- 19:00Speaker 3: around Boston. He almost won it last year. Right. It's
- 19:03Speaker 3: funny like you were around sports our whole lives and
- 19:06Speaker 3: you don't really get nervous. Why I was super nervous
- 19:09Speaker 3: for Taylor watching Men on TV because I just wanted
- 19:11Speaker 3: to I knew how much he would have loved to
- 19:13Speaker 3: have win. He's such a great guy and he's actually
- 19:15Speaker 3: been a big help to me with this Tahole thing.
- 19:17Speaker 3: He told me, you want to make sure you stay
- 19:19Speaker 3: here and get out and on this day and do
- 19:21Speaker 3: this and don't do that. So yeah, but he is.
- 19:25Speaker 3: There are a lot of play I know most of
- 19:27Speaker 3: those guys who play that thing, and I will be
- 19:30Speaker 3: comfortably middle of the pack.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Okay.
- 19:33Speaker 3: I asked the Peter Millar people, do you want to
- 19:37Speaker 3: outfit the fifty third place finisher in the field, because
- 19:40Speaker 3: if so, we'll take a couple of free shirts while
- 19:42Speaker 3: you're at it.
- 19:43Speaker 2: We were in Lake Tahoe.
- 19:45Speaker 1: I believe it was last year, so I'd be interested
- 19:47Speaker 1: to get your thoughts on this. Joe Buck said, even
- 19:49Speaker 1: though it benefits Joe Buck that when you get to
- 19:51Speaker 1: a championship round to the conference finals, he doesn't like
- 19:54Speaker 1: that they take the local broadcast away because he knows
- 19:57Speaker 1: fans love the local broadcast. And I'm wondering, your buddy,
- 20:00Speaker 1: Mike Breed has been a Nick fan his entire life,
- 20:03Speaker 1: and now he's calling an NBA finals nationally with the
- 20:07Speaker 1: Knicks in the San Antonio Spurs. And I would like
- 20:09Speaker 1: Mike to be a little bit of a homer and
- 20:11Speaker 1: I think that he will be because I know he
- 20:13Speaker 1: wants the Knicks to win so badly.
- 20:14Speaker 2: What do you think I know I should not.
- 20:17Speaker 3: I'm sure he wants the Knicks to win. It would
- 20:19Speaker 3: be insane to think he doesn't, and it would, you know.
- 20:22Speaker 3: And I don't think we should ask that of him,
- 20:25Speaker 3: but I do. He and I just talked about this
- 20:27Speaker 3: the other day. Interesting, we talked on the phone three
- 20:30Speaker 3: or four days ago, and uh, and I asked him that,
- 20:34Speaker 3: you know, how excited are about the Knicks? And you know,
- 20:36Speaker 3: he is excited about the Knicks. But you know, and
- 20:40Speaker 3: I've had this in my own experience, you're so caught
- 20:43Speaker 3: up in calling the game like the fan part of
- 20:45Speaker 3: you just goes out the window. You know, I'll be doing,
- 20:49Speaker 3: you know, games for teams I care about and don't
- 20:52Speaker 3: even think about it, and then I'm watching a game
- 20:53Speaker 3: on TV as a fan, I'm screaming at the refs,
- 20:55Speaker 3: are yelling at the coach why did you do that?
- 20:58Speaker 3: Or why aren't you doing this? So Mike is the
- 21:01Speaker 3: ultimate pro. You know, there's no greater pro in our business.
- 21:04Speaker 3: I don't think there's anybody better at play by play
- 21:06Speaker 3: in any sport than Mike. You know, he's right there
- 21:09Speaker 3: on the mount rushmore for me of the people who
- 21:11Speaker 3: do it right now. And he will do a professional job.
- 21:14Speaker 3: And I'm sure he wants.
- 21:15Speaker 4: The Knicks to win the way Mike will show off.
- 21:18Speaker 3: And anybody who thinks, you know, like in the San
- 21:20Speaker 3: Antonio people should allow him that too. Yes, but they
- 21:24Speaker 3: won't know it when they watch, because I guarantee, if anything,
- 21:26Speaker 3: in my experience, you learned the lean too hard the
- 21:29Speaker 3: other way to prove that you're not biased. You try
- 21:31Speaker 3: to act more excited when the other team scores or whatever,
- 21:35Speaker 3: say nice things about them or claim they got, you know,
- 21:38Speaker 3: a bad call, and maybe they didn't, you know. So
- 21:41Speaker 3: he's a pro.
- 21:42Speaker 5: The way he will show any sort of you know,
- 21:44Speaker 5: homer Ism is just by giving such detailed nicks information
- 21:48Speaker 5: like I've always listening in the Conference finals and it's
- 21:50Speaker 5: just like, man, that is some in depth stuff he's
- 21:52Speaker 5: given you.
- 21:53Speaker 3: And to right, you just know more through naturally because
- 21:57Speaker 3: you're around it all the time and you know it's
- 22:01Speaker 3: and I agree, you know, sometimes when you know more
- 22:03Speaker 3: about one team, like I will know a lot more
- 22:05Speaker 3: about Vegas going into this tonight, I would know more
- 22:08Speaker 3: about Carolina than I will, except I've now spent you know,
- 22:11Speaker 3: a half hour talking.
- 22:12Speaker 2: To you guys.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Working on my shots for the Hurricanes. But you know,
- 22:19Speaker 3: I just know more about Vegas because we just did
- 22:22Speaker 3: their Western Conference final. So I will catch up more
- 22:25Speaker 3: and more and more with Carolina as we go. And
- 22:28Speaker 3: Trip Tracy, who's the analyst for the Hurricanes on TV
- 22:31Speaker 3: and radio because they simulcast, he was a huge help
- 22:35Speaker 3: and kind of getting me up to speed on them.
- 22:36Speaker 3: But yeah, it's it's natural. When you know more about
- 22:40Speaker 3: one team, it probably comes out more as well.
- 22:42Speaker 4: He I think they should put Clyde in the booth
- 22:44Speaker 4: for at least one half.
- 22:45Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. I like the Homer stuff. But anyway,
- 22:47Speaker 1: let's get shown out of here. He's got Game one
- 22:49Speaker 1: of the Stanley Cup tonight on ABC eight o'clock Carolina
- 22:52Speaker 1: and Vegas.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Fred said you can call him anytime.
- 22:55Speaker 3: So, yeah, is Fred gonna move the booth in Miami?
- 22:59Speaker 3: I don't need I needed the booth move.
- 23:01Speaker 1: I gotta tell you, Fred has a better chance of
- 23:04Speaker 1: getting that booth move than I do.
- 23:05Speaker 2: He just knows people.
- 23:06Speaker 1: He's one of those he knows people. He knows the
- 23:10Speaker 1: guy who knows the guy. Anyway, thank you as always
- 23:12Speaker 1: for your time. We appreciated all my pleasure.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Guys. I'll see in Lake Tahoe.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Make sure you bring the you know, yes, yes, Taylor
- 23:19Speaker 2: Mike yes said.
- 23:20Speaker 3: Made me think like we'll be there if someone might
- 23:22Speaker 3: pay for it.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Basically yea, So are you offering?
- 23:27Speaker 3: I mean, well we all know. I mean you do
- 23:31Speaker 3: very well for yourself, yes, I mean I read all
- 23:34Speaker 3: these articles every day now about you know, your different
- 23:37Speaker 3: enterprises and why you did this and didn't do that,
- 23:40Speaker 3: and you know. So there's gotta be money in these things.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Not for those of us who are guests right and
- 23:47Speaker 3: still waiting for a hat. Do you guys have a hat,
- 23:50Speaker 3: buying an expost hat or something.
- 23:52Speaker 1: I mean, it's like, we got merch you want, you
- 23:55Speaker 1: want a Nick's hat. I mean, Taylor's got plenty of Yankees.
- 24:02Speaker 3: We're good. I love you guys, thanks for having me.
- 24:04Speaker 2: We love you too. We'll send you We'll send you
- 24:06Speaker 2: fifty dollars to Applebee's. All right, I mean thank you.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm going to leave that one alone.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Okay, we'll see you in Tahoe. Thank you, Sean.
- 24:16Speaker 3: You guys see in Tahoe.
