- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's your whatever person thing, Michelle. I'm back, and
- 0:05Speaker 1: you don't know this, but I'm going to tell you
- 0:08Speaker 1: that this is me redoing this entire episode. I recorded
- 0:12Speaker 1: it like three days ago, I think, and I even
- 0:15Speaker 1: edited the whole thing, and then last night I was like, no,
- 0:19Speaker 1: I don't want this to go out to the world.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I have to redo this. This is the last kind
- 0:25Speaker 1: of new content episode we're doing a banana Fish. This
- 0:27Speaker 1: is probably gonna be one more show next week where
- 0:30Speaker 1: I talk to my friend Enrique about this show in general,
- 0:34Speaker 1: because I'd forced him to watch it, and I figured
- 0:38Speaker 1: why not. He probably will say some things that I
- 0:40Speaker 1: do not agree with and make me really sad. So
- 0:43Speaker 1: it seemed like that might be a nice way to
- 0:44Speaker 1: kind of end things on like a really uncomfortable note,
- 0:47Speaker 1: because you know, those banana Fish. But like I just said,
- 0:52Speaker 1: this is the last show where I'm covering something I
- 0:55Speaker 1: haven't talked about before, banana Fish wise, so I kind
- 0:59Speaker 1: of wanted it to be and you know, at least
- 1:02Speaker 1: minorly insightful, and I just didn't think my last take was.
- 1:06Speaker 1: So I'm gonna try really really hard this time, and
- 1:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna do a better job probably, and if not,
- 1:13Speaker 1: you at least will never know that this wasn't better
- 1:15Speaker 1: than the last take, I guess unless I tell you
- 1:18Speaker 1: at the end. But yeah, so I guess. Before we continue,
- 1:22Speaker 1: I will just say a couple of things about the
- 1:24Speaker 1: way things are gonna be going from here out. So
- 1:28Speaker 1: we got this today, We got that thing I just
- 1:30Speaker 1: told you about next week that I'm taking two weeks off, unless,
- 1:33Speaker 1: of course, that doesn't air next week, and that would
- 1:36Speaker 1: just mean that we like tried to do a show
- 1:38Speaker 1: about it and it was terrible, so I just scrapped it.
- 1:41Speaker 1: So regardless, we start eighty six the anime on March thirteenth,
- 1:48Speaker 1: and we'll go through at least the first core, and
- 1:51Speaker 1: then either we're gonna take a break and cover the
- 1:54Speaker 1: summer Hicatu Died, or we're gonna do the second core.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I'm still not sure about that yet, but we're gonna
- 1:59Speaker 1: be covering it at least the first core of eighty six,
- 2:02Speaker 1: and that's not hard to find either. It's at least
- 2:05Speaker 1: in the US, available on Crunchy Role. Yep. Okay, So
- 2:09Speaker 1: enough about that, I want to do fucking this horrible
- 2:15Speaker 1: one shot justice, So let's actually get into it. So
- 2:19Speaker 1: before we start, I should say that the one shot
- 2:23Speaker 1: you know that we're doing, Private Opinion is not published
- 2:28Speaker 1: in English anywhere. You cannot go buy it if you
- 2:31Speaker 1: wanted to. I mean, you could buy it in Japanese
- 2:33Speaker 1: if you felt like it. It was originally I believe,
- 2:36Speaker 1: published separately from the manga, just in its own volume,
- 2:41Speaker 1: just called Private Opinion, with it and two other stories afterwards,
- 2:45Speaker 1: which we're not going to cover because we just can't
- 2:47Speaker 1: keep talking about Banana Fish. As much as I would
- 2:49Speaker 1: like it, I don't think it's fair to you. So anyway,
- 2:52Speaker 1: it existed in that form, and then I believe at
- 2:55Speaker 1: some point it was included as volume twenty of Banana
- 2:59Speaker 1: Fish Proper in Japan. So in Japan, Banana Fish currently
- 3:05Speaker 1: has twenty volumes. In the US it only has nineteen,
- 3:08Speaker 1: which is a little bit frustrating because I like this
- 3:11Speaker 1: content and I'd like to be able to find it
- 3:13Speaker 1: and own it, not in Japanese. So what this means
- 3:18Speaker 1: is I am reading a fan translation of it, and
- 3:21Speaker 1: I feel like the person who translated it did like
- 3:25Speaker 1: a pretty good job, but it's not as like fun
- 3:29Speaker 1: and localized as the rest of the manga and some
- 3:33Speaker 1: of the stuff is a little bit formal, or every
- 3:36Speaker 1: once in a while there's like something that's slightly mistranslated.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I have to kind of fix. Not as bad as
- 3:41Speaker 1: the anime by any means, but it's not going to
- 3:45Speaker 1: be as easy for me to read as the other
- 3:47Speaker 1: two one shots. Were so sorry about that. I have
- 3:52Speaker 1: to take a little bit more time thinking about how
- 3:54Speaker 1: I'm saying things. Yeah, but it's still pretty good, Still
- 3:58Speaker 1: totally worth it. And thank you person who translated it. Also,
- 4:02Speaker 1: because there's not an official American release, I can read
- 4:06Speaker 1: it on different websites. That's unlike the ones that I
- 4:10Speaker 1: kind of had to look at for the last two.
- 4:13Speaker 1: It like doesn't have any porn ads or anything. It's
- 4:16Speaker 1: just straight banana fish. So I really like that. So
- 4:20Speaker 1: thank you. I don't know who I'm supposed to thank there,
- 4:23Speaker 1: but whatever. So we're gonna start it, and you know,
- 4:27Speaker 1: hopefully you're gonna not think I'm insane for you know,
- 4:30Speaker 1: doing this one. But yeah, why not just end with
- 4:33Speaker 1: a bang? So Private Opinion starts out with a title page, obviously,
- 4:39Speaker 1: and it is split into two pictures with the title
- 4:44Speaker 1: Private Opinion in English and in kata kana in the middle,
- 4:48Speaker 1: and by kata kana, I mean it literally says private
- 4:51Speaker 1: opinion in English in Japanese, so I know that's confusing.
- 4:55Speaker 1: So the top picture is a picture of Ash facing away,
- 5:00Speaker 1: like he has his back towards the camera. His head
- 5:02Speaker 1: is kind of turned to the side. He's obviously younger,
- 5:05Speaker 1: and he's wearing a hoodie that says Street forty four
- 5:07Speaker 1: on it. I don't know what the significance of that is.
- 5:10Speaker 1: And there's like no background, it's just him standing kind
- 5:13Speaker 1: of to the left of the panel. Below that and
- 5:16Speaker 1: below Private Opinion is a panel of Blanca sitting in
- 5:21Speaker 1: a car with his like his arm leaning out the window,
- 5:24Speaker 1: and he's wearing sunglasses and his face is kind of
- 5:26Speaker 1: like half in shadow. I like it. I like this cover.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I think it's cool, So let's do it. First page,
- 5:32Speaker 1: we see Ash kind of present day Ash from you know,
- 5:38Speaker 1: the manga, and he is looking to the side. He's
- 5:40Speaker 1: wearing just like a T shirt, and that's really all
- 5:43Speaker 1: we can see. We don't see a background or anything,
- 5:45Speaker 1: and we get some narration that says, at first, I
- 5:48Speaker 1: didn't realize it was him. Now we see that he's
- 5:51Speaker 1: standing next to Ag, and I believe this is supposed
- 5:53Speaker 1: to be. Remember when they were taking the ferry because
- 5:56Speaker 1: they were going to go to Long Island to kind
- 5:58Speaker 1: of hide out with everyone, and that didn't end up
- 6:00Speaker 1: happening because Blanco was there and it freaked out Ash.
- 6:02Speaker 1: That's where we are. They are standing at the rail
- 6:05Speaker 1: of the faery talking to each other, and the narration continues. No,
- 6:12Speaker 1: that's not the right way to put it, because I
- 6:14Speaker 1: did very quickly realize it was him. Sure, he'd grown
- 6:18Speaker 1: up and he had a stronger build, but the unmatched
- 6:21Speaker 1: beauty and those green eyes of his that never ceased
- 6:24Speaker 1: to cast a spell on people were exactly the same
- 6:27Speaker 1: as back then. We have a closer shot of Ash.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Now he's smiling and looking at Ag, and the narration continues.
- 6:35Speaker 1: And yet I couldn't get rid of the feeling that
- 6:37Speaker 1: it might as well have been just someone who happened
- 6:39Speaker 1: to look similar to him. Why it was because the
- 6:42Speaker 1: him I was familiar with had never been a boy
- 6:45Speaker 1: of such rich facial expressions. Damn, Now they're laughing because
- 6:51Speaker 1: you know they're having a conversation, you know, as they're
- 6:54Speaker 1: being watched. So the narration continues rarely smiling, and while beautiful,
- 6:59Speaker 1: still shrouded in an armor of stern inexpressiveness. The hymn
- 7:03Speaker 1: that had been like a wildcat. I had a hard
- 7:06Speaker 1: time acknowledging that the young American in front of my eyes, unarmed,
- 7:11Speaker 1: laughing merrily and unconcerned, was him until Ash looks over
- 7:17Speaker 1: and his expression falls. The narration continues, in the blink
- 7:21Speaker 1: of an eye, he took notice of me being there,
- 7:24Speaker 1: and in an instant the expression changed. Yeah, Ash is concerned.
- 7:29Speaker 1: He is now looking around trying to figure out where
- 7:32Speaker 1: the thread is. We get a closer shot of Ash,
- 7:35Speaker 1: and the narration continues. Those green irises of his flared up,
- 7:39Speaker 1: and he devoted his full attention to my presence. We
- 7:43Speaker 1: got some like lightning coming out of Ash now, which
- 7:45Speaker 1: we've seen in angel eyes. So there we go. Narration continues.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I became aware of his aura beginning to light up
- 7:53Speaker 1: like a fire, and then he took up a stance
- 7:56Speaker 1: as though to protect the Asian boy who seemed to
- 7:57Speaker 1: be his friend. After this point, is standing in front
- 8:00Speaker 1: of AG, and AG's looking at him like what the fuck, dude.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Narration continues, that was him, without any doubt. The grown
- 8:08Speaker 1: up shape of that wildcat. We see now we're kind
- 8:12Speaker 1: of like looking up like through trees, and there's kind
- 8:15Speaker 1: of sunlight streaming down, and then we see Dino and Gregory.
- 8:20Speaker 1: They are in a kind of wooded area. I assume
- 8:23Speaker 1: this is at Dino's kind of mansion area in New Jersey,
- 8:27Speaker 1: and they're looking over at someone off camera or out
- 8:31Speaker 1: of the panel that is, and Dino says well, someone
- 8:35Speaker 1: says ah, hello, and the narration goes. At first it
- 8:41Speaker 1: was my intention to decline. We see that the person
- 8:44Speaker 1: they are staring at is Blanca. Blanca says long time.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Oh see, they're like standing now by like some pond
- 8:52Speaker 1: or something and like a little wooden bridge area and stuff.
- 8:56Speaker 1: And Dino says one year ago, right, Blanca says yes.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Dino's like, thank you for your help back then. Blanca says, uh,
- 9:05Speaker 1: it was my pleasure. Do you know who is holding
- 9:08Speaker 1: a cigar by the way, says, I assume you came
- 9:11Speaker 1: here to refuse my offer. Blanc is like, I'm afraid
- 9:16Speaker 1: you ask too much for me, even more so considering
- 9:18Speaker 1: that he's only fourteen years old. Oh okay, Ash is fourteen,
- 9:22Speaker 1: So this puts us the furthest back on the timeline
- 9:25Speaker 1: that we've had a lot of information about, Like obviously
- 9:28Speaker 1: we know about Ash when he was eight and when
- 9:30Speaker 1: he was eleven, but this is the first time we've
- 9:33Speaker 1: had like an entire chapter type thing of information this
- 9:37Speaker 1: far back. Anyway, Golsing says, Oh, but am I right
- 9:43Speaker 1: to say that you started training at even an earlier
- 9:45Speaker 1: age Blanca. Blanca doesn't look pleased, and he starts to
- 9:50Speaker 1: say like that that is Golsing kind of cuts him off.
- 9:55Speaker 1: In any case, let me introduce you to him in
- 9:57Speaker 1: person afterwards we can talk. They are starting to walk
- 10:01Speaker 1: somewhere and all of a sudden, this random dude just
- 10:04Speaker 1: like busts out of the trees or bushes or something,
- 10:07Speaker 1: and he looks real fucking stressed. He has glasses on,
- 10:10Speaker 1: and he's wearing like a suit, and he's got like
- 10:12Speaker 1: light colored hair. I don't know. He looks like he's
- 10:15Speaker 1: maybe in his thirties, I don't know, doesn't matter. He
- 10:18Speaker 1: honestly seemed like he was just running for his life
- 10:20Speaker 1: or something, and he just realizes he popped out right
- 10:23Speaker 1: in front of Goalzeane and everyone, and he's kind of
- 10:25Speaker 1: freaked out. Golesine is just like you, yeah, you are,
- 10:30Speaker 1: And Gregory says the math teacher we employed last week.
- 10:34Speaker 1: The guy looks stressed. He's just not getting less stressed.
- 10:38Speaker 1: And he says it it wasn't me, it was him
- 10:42Speaker 1: who came on to me. Please, you have to believe me.
- 10:45Speaker 1: I certainly didn't. And he puts his hands over his
- 10:47Speaker 1: face and he's like, oh my god, how could it
- 10:49Speaker 1: come to this. He's freaking out, and fucking blanc is confused,
- 10:54Speaker 1: and Golzine probably knows what's going on, but I think
- 10:59Speaker 1: maybe we all do so now. Unfortunately, we continue on
- 11:04Speaker 1: and now we see like a gazebo, really nice gazebo.
- 11:07Speaker 1: There's some rose bushes and stuff like that that was
- 11:10Speaker 1: really pretty here, but honestly, New Jersey is really pretty
- 11:14Speaker 1: sorry it is. Anyway, they get to this gazebo, like
- 11:18Speaker 1: they're not in the gazebo yet. Golden's like, Ash, are
- 11:20Speaker 1: you there? We at this point see in the gazebo
- 11:26Speaker 1: where you know, Ash is laying on kind of one
- 11:30Speaker 1: of those benches that goes around the outside of a gazebo.
- 11:32Speaker 1: You know, he is, you know, exactly what you'd expect, right,
- 11:40Speaker 1: he is laying down. He's on some pillows kind of
- 11:45Speaker 1: and he also has his like pants around his ankles
- 11:49Speaker 1: and his shirt is kind of like pulled up. I'm
- 11:52Speaker 1: not sure if he's asleep or what the deal is,
- 11:55Speaker 1: but obviously this isn't good, like by any stretch of
- 12:00Speaker 1: the imagination, based on what we just heard that dude say. So,
- 12:05Speaker 1: Blanca looks like freaked out because that is the natural response,
- 12:10Speaker 1: and he starts to walk over and he says, hey, hey, you,
- 12:14Speaker 1: are you all right? He starts to reach his hand out,
- 12:19Speaker 1: maybe to kind of like rouse Ash or something or
- 12:22Speaker 1: check on him, and Ash opens his eyes and says,
- 12:24Speaker 1: don't touch me. Blanc is surprised. Ash sits up. His
- 12:29Speaker 1: pants are still down, and we see that his shirt
- 12:31Speaker 1: is also like torn, and he looks pissed. Blanca is
- 12:38Speaker 1: just like, were you not just violated by him? Ash
- 12:41Speaker 1: doesn't say anything at all, and Goalsing at this point
- 12:46Speaker 1: walks over and just fucking slaps Ash in the face
- 12:49Speaker 1: and then slaps him again and then kind of like
- 12:51Speaker 1: tosses him back against the bench. Yay, just what he needed.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Blanca is like, what the fuck is going on? And
- 12:58Speaker 1: Golsing says, what a pathetic sight, make yourself look presentable again.
- 13:03Speaker 1: He turns to Blanca, my apologies, fuck you dude. Then
- 13:07Speaker 1: he looks over at Gregory and says, and you fire
- 13:11Speaker 1: that guy. Gregory's like, yes, of course, I mean that's
- 13:15Speaker 1: what you gotta do. Now. He turns back to Ash.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Go take a shower and change your clothes, get ready
- 13:21Speaker 1: in in ten minutes. Come to the gardenhouse. Understood. Ash
- 13:25Speaker 1: just stares at him, Yeah, I yeah. They start to
- 13:33Speaker 1: walk off, I guess, and Blanca kind of turns back
- 13:37Speaker 1: as Ash is kind of trying to adjust his fucked
- 13:40Speaker 1: up shirt, and Blanca thinks that was a first meeting
- 13:45Speaker 1: impressive beyond words. I mean, there was definitely something I
- 13:50Speaker 1: wouldn't use the term impressive, but it did leave an impression,
- 13:55Speaker 1: So I guess that works. But yeah, that's always fun
- 13:59Speaker 1: when you have something terrible happened to you and then
- 14:01Speaker 1: the first thing that happens after that is someone just
- 14:04Speaker 1: beats the shit out of you. Always good. Anyway, I
- 14:07Speaker 1: guess they are now at that garden house. I was
- 14:10Speaker 1: gonna call it a greenhouse because I figured that's what
- 14:14Speaker 1: it was, but I'm looking at it in the picture
- 14:15Speaker 1: and it just kind of looks like a shed or thing,
- 14:18Speaker 1: so I'm gonna continue to call it garden house. Anyway.
- 14:21Speaker 1: They're at the garden House, I assume, waiting for Ash
- 14:24Speaker 1: at this point. Also, I just wanted to point out
- 14:26Speaker 1: the paneling on this page is really fucking nice. It
- 14:30Speaker 1: just is, and I don't know how to explain it.
- 14:32Speaker 1: It's just really cool. Anyway, So Blanca and Golsine are
- 14:36Speaker 1: sitting at a table with like a umbrella, like it's
- 14:40Speaker 1: this nice kind of cozy table in front of the
- 14:43Speaker 1: garden house, and they're drinking tea, and Golsine says, what
- 14:48Speaker 1: a pity that I let you catch a glimpse of
- 14:50Speaker 1: him in such an indecent moment. And while indecent, I
- 14:53Speaker 1: have to admit it's not the first time something like
- 14:57Speaker 1: this has occurred. Great, Blanca says, what are you trying
- 15:02Speaker 1: to tell me? Colsiane takes a sip of his tea.
- 15:05Speaker 1: This makes five cases now where we've had to fire
- 15:08Speaker 1: a teacher fuck four men and one woman of various ages,
- 15:13Speaker 1: from a twenty six year old fellow to a forty
- 15:15Speaker 1: two year old female teacher. And what they happen in
- 15:18Speaker 1: common is that every single one of them said, he
- 15:21Speaker 1: asked for it. Blanca was kind of silent for a second.
- 15:24Speaker 1: He's kind of taken aback, and he says, I see,
- 15:28Speaker 1: of course, they had no choice but to regrettably accept
- 15:31Speaker 1: the invitation, right, Golsian says, well, what do you think
- 15:35Speaker 1: Blanca's like? Hmm, It's hard to tell, given that I
- 15:39Speaker 1: just happened to meet him for the first time a
- 15:41Speaker 1: few minutes ago. Golsian stands, it's pointless to hide the
- 15:45Speaker 1: truth from you. To be honest, he was originally one
- 15:48Speaker 1: of the goods offered in a club under my management.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Blanca doesn't look impressed, He continues, with the clients being,
- 15:56Speaker 1: without exception, high class bureaucracts and politicians. He must have
- 16:00Speaker 1: been thanks to his enticing appearance that said, look at me,
- 16:02Speaker 1: after all. Indeed, it has proven itself to be completely
- 16:06Speaker 1: and utterly useful. But regardless of how well made he is,
- 16:11Speaker 1: gross half of him is essentially a rotten egg. What
- 16:15Speaker 1: that teacher said, it's safe to assume that half of
- 16:17Speaker 1: it is true Blanca is like and the other half.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I can't imagine that you, of all people, Machure would
- 16:25Speaker 1: want me to come here just so I can cook
- 16:28Speaker 1: you a meal with a rotten egg. Dino kind of
- 16:30Speaker 1: looks back at him and says, you're right, it's true
- 16:33Speaker 1: that I don't think of him as a mere rotten egg.
- 16:35Speaker 1: According to the Stanford Benet Intelligence Test, he is an
- 16:38Speaker 1: IQ of one eedy. He tested so high that they
- 16:41Speaker 1: wanted to make sure that they had made a mistake,
- 16:43Speaker 1: so they tested him again and it was announced that
- 16:45Speaker 1: he had an IQ of above one hundred and eighty.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Blanca says, oh my, that's astonishing. Dino continues, but such
- 16:54Speaker 1: a circumstance is nothing but fallacious. Anyway older than twenty
- 16:57Speaker 1: and you're just a nobody. You know more than a
- 16:59Speaker 1: few examples of that, don't you, Blanca, You who have
- 17:02Speaker 1: a academic degree in psychology as well as psychiatry. Blanca
- 17:06Speaker 1: looks down. That's only because it was a requirement. Dino continues,
- 17:11Speaker 1: I'd like you to evaluate his genius with your own eyes.
- 17:14Speaker 1: I want to optimize him. Blanca is like, so you
- 17:17Speaker 1: intend to become a professor Higgins. I get a translation,
- 17:21Speaker 1: note that this is from my fair lady. Thank you.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Dino continues, No, this is entirely different from the act
- 17:28Speaker 1: of letting a country lass pose as a lady. We
- 17:31Speaker 1: see Dino now and Ash is in the background kind
- 17:35Speaker 1: of superimposed, and Ash has this like really intense looking
- 17:39Speaker 1: mean sea serpent around him, and Ash also looks really
- 17:42Speaker 1: intense because, yeah, Dino says, I like to think of
- 17:47Speaker 1: him as a god's vessel. Okay, my friend, you're really
- 17:51Speaker 1: freaking me out. He continues, A most personal opinion of
- 17:55Speaker 1: yours would be enough. If you think he shows promise,
- 17:59Speaker 1: I would like you to to raise him with your
- 18:01Speaker 1: knowledge and expertise. Blanca thinks, I see it's the Divine
- 18:06Speaker 1: Comedy rather than My Fair Lady. Okay, so it's not
- 18:12Speaker 1: that he wants to take this child and make them
- 18:16Speaker 1: proper like in My Fair Lady. More or less, it's
- 18:19Speaker 1: that he wants to I don't know what that means.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Blanca tore him through hell, purgatory and Heaven eventually, Like what,
- 18:29Speaker 1: I barely know anything about the Divine Comedy. So if
- 18:32Speaker 1: you do and you're like, what the fuck are you
- 18:34Speaker 1: talking about, it's because you're right and I'm wrong. Don't worry,
- 18:37Speaker 1: but I don't. Yeah, Blanc is obviously like this is
- 18:40Speaker 1: real fucked up anyway. Dino kind of, like you know,
- 18:44Speaker 1: puts out his cigar, I guess in an ash tray
- 18:46Speaker 1: and says, if you give me your no, then we'll
- 18:50Speaker 1: cancel the whole project without hesitation. I think you should
- 18:53Speaker 1: say no, Blanca. Blanca is yeah, he says, sure, I
- 19:01Speaker 1: don't exactly feel comfortable with you giving me so much
- 19:03Speaker 1: credit like this. You should know what kind of person
- 19:06Speaker 1: I am. Deno's like a living weapon perfected by the Kremlin. Yes,
- 19:11Speaker 1: Blanca says, I'm just a murderer. Ah, that's where I
- 19:15Speaker 1: ask gets it from. Dino's like, well, if you insist,
- 19:20Speaker 1: Blanca says, I'm sure you're aware of how much of
- 19:23Speaker 1: an inefficient usage of money and resources that project was.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Back then, we see what looked like case files for children,
- 19:30Speaker 1: a bunch of children in an image, and Blanca continues.
- 19:35Speaker 1: From the three hundred children that had been certified geniuses
- 19:39Speaker 1: and collected by the Soviet Union, no more than eighteen
- 19:42Speaker 1: remained after fifteen years. That's not great. The rest got
- 19:46Speaker 1: filtered out, the ones who simply could not do it,
- 19:49Speaker 1: the ones who sustained severe injury or died or went insane.
- 19:54Speaker 1: There were a lot of reasons, you see. But yeah,
- 19:56Speaker 1: I mean that all sounds really bad. Dino says, you, however,
- 20:00Speaker 1: made it and survived. Blanca's like, yes, and that's why
- 20:04Speaker 1: I think this way to artificially create an elite. That's
- 20:09Speaker 1: an idea of utter nonsense. In the first place, Maam
- 20:12Speaker 1: kind isn't strong enough playing god bears witness to nothing
- 20:15Speaker 1: but foolish arrogance. Dino looks caught off guard and he says, say,
- 20:22Speaker 1: is that your personal opinion? Okay, So Blanca like must
- 20:26Speaker 1: have totally forgot he was talking out loud, and he
- 20:29Speaker 1: looks shocked, and he says, I beg your pardon, Michir,
- 20:32Speaker 1: I said things I shouldn't have, Dino says, even you
- 20:37Speaker 1: of times when you get emotional, Blanca, No, Sergey Varshkov.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Blanca looks down. Dino continues, but whatever, it doesn't seem
- 20:46Speaker 1: like we'll come to a conclusion on this part anytime soon.
- 20:48Speaker 1: It's a partnership between you and me. I'm going to
- 20:51Speaker 1: forget about your faux pa just now, and in turn,
- 20:54Speaker 1: you'll lend me your ear for my request. How's that? Okay?
- 20:58Speaker 1: I want to pause here because a lot of things
- 20:59Speaker 1: just happen, and I've been trying to find a place
- 21:01Speaker 1: to pause. But we were in this big long scene. Okay,
- 21:04Speaker 1: So first of all, this is fucked up, but there's
- 21:07Speaker 1: a lot of things that are fucked up, right, So
- 21:10Speaker 1: where we start, obviously with Ash and that teacher and
- 21:15Speaker 1: the whole thing with him coming on to the teacher
- 21:17Speaker 1: and shit like that. What we know of Ash so
- 21:20Speaker 1: far is that that's would not happen. I mean, it
- 21:25Speaker 1: might happen, but only if he thoughts that he was
- 21:28Speaker 1: going to be hurt otherwise, that this was the only
- 21:31Speaker 1: way for him to remain even kind of safe. So
- 21:35Speaker 1: thinking that's now what's going on. I don't know what's
- 21:38Speaker 1: going on, but whatever it is, it's the teacher's fault,
- 21:42Speaker 1: all five of them. Honestly, I don't know where Dino
- 21:46Speaker 1: gets these people, but I mean seeing that he recruited Blanca,
- 21:49Speaker 1: who is like an assassin, and you know, has this
- 21:53Speaker 1: checker had passed and shit, I'm thinking he doesn't find
- 21:57Speaker 1: like these upstanding citizens. And also, as we've seen many times,
- 22:02Speaker 1: he fucking tells everyone everything about Ash all the time.
- 22:06Speaker 1: So I can't even imagine that they didn't know going
- 22:09Speaker 1: in that he was a former prostitute. Blah blah blah.
- 22:11Speaker 1: It's like they knew of course, So I'm just thinking
- 22:14Speaker 1: it all kind of like leads to this weird powder
- 22:16Speaker 1: keg of like fucking weirdos with weird sexual tension. I
- 22:21Speaker 1: don't know, but it's weird with what I'm saying. I'm
- 22:24Speaker 1: gonna say weird one more time. But like the idea
- 22:28Speaker 1: that like it's him is so fucked up. And I
- 22:33Speaker 1: mean it's good that Blanca caught onto that immediately and
- 22:35Speaker 1: was like, oh, so they just have to do what
- 22:37Speaker 1: he says. Then he you know, made a move, so
- 22:40Speaker 1: they have to go along like they are the adults, right,
- 22:43Speaker 1: even if a fourteen year old boy was coming on
- 22:47Speaker 1: to you random people or you in the audience, like
- 22:50Speaker 1: you're an adult, you shut that shit down. You are
- 22:54Speaker 1: the person with the fully formed brain. Sorry, fifteen year
- 22:57Speaker 1: olds or fourteen year olds, like, there's no excuse, and
- 23:02Speaker 1: we don't beat the shit out of somebody who has
- 23:04Speaker 1: just been assaulted. But I mean that's what Dino does. Yeah,
- 23:07Speaker 1: so that's no good. And also, of course Dino is
- 23:09Speaker 1: talking about making him make God's vessel. We know that
- 23:12Speaker 1: Dino wants him to be this air weird thing, and
- 23:16Speaker 1: it's super weird. It's always been weird. I don't know, man,
- 23:21Speaker 1: there's so much going on here. There's so much to unpack.
- 23:24Speaker 1: It's fucked up, and it's really interesting to see Blanca
- 23:27Speaker 1: as kind of like an outsider who's like, what is
- 23:29Speaker 1: even going on here? You know, Blanca that this guy
- 23:34Speaker 1: is you were employed by him, and he's insane. Anyway,
- 23:39Speaker 1: let's try to continue. I hope that made sense. It
- 23:41Speaker 1: might not have anyway. At this point, I guess they're
- 23:45Speaker 1: done having their like tea or whatever. It looked like
- 23:49Speaker 1: they got up at the end. So now we see
- 23:51Speaker 1: like Blanca's feet, he's walking and he's thinking he just
- 23:56Speaker 1: dug his own grave by not coming. Huh. Even if
- 23:59Speaker 1: he did, he still doesn't seem to be alarmed in
- 24:00Speaker 1: the slightest, not even when they try to feed a
- 24:03Speaker 1: seated cat with baits. He is obviously looking for Ash,
- 24:07Speaker 1: and he looks over and he sees that Ash is
- 24:10Speaker 1: laying in the grass on his side, facing away from Blanca.
- 24:15Speaker 1: He has his head like on some books, and he
- 24:18Speaker 1: may be sleeping, but we can't tell. Blanca thinks is
- 24:21Speaker 1: just dozing around like a hobby of his. Fucking just
- 24:25Speaker 1: let him rest, you have no idea. He gets a
- 24:28Speaker 1: little bit closer and he says, you're awake, aren't you
- 24:32Speaker 1: mind if I join you? Wild cat ash Ash turns
- 24:36Speaker 1: his head and he does not look like he wants
- 24:39Speaker 1: Blanca to join him. Blanca doesn't take the hint, and
- 24:44Speaker 1: he just sits down and he's like thanks. Ash is
- 24:48Speaker 1: just kind of staring forward, trying to acknowledge him, and
- 24:51Speaker 1: Blanca thinks I thought he would run away, but seems
- 24:55Speaker 1: like curiosity got the best of him. Well, that's just
- 24:58Speaker 1: fine with me, Blanca says, I'm called Blanca, a bit
- 25:02Speaker 1: of a strange name, but that doesn't really matter right.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Ash rests his head on one of his hands and says,
- 25:09Speaker 1: and I don't care anyway. Blanca thinks and inexpressiveness, as
- 25:14Speaker 1: if he acquired it for himself, a movingly sullen child.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Even secretary generals are a tad friendlier. He says, may
- 25:24Speaker 1: I ask you a few things about yourself, your favorite subjects,
- 25:28Speaker 1: your favorite baseball team, and Ash cuts him off. I
- 25:32Speaker 1: hate baseball. Blanca is like, what, I never have guessed
- 25:37Speaker 1: that they were baseball haters among American boys, Ash, still
- 25:40Speaker 1: not looking at him, says, is that a bad thing?
- 25:43Speaker 1: It's not exactly weird or anything, Blanca thinks an unexpectedly
- 25:48Speaker 1: strong reaction. Then out loud, he says, it's not, of course,
- 25:53Speaker 1: but honestly, I'm more of a basketball fan myself. Ash
- 25:56Speaker 1: just kind of glances over, and Blanca thinks we already
- 25:59Speaker 1: have one keyword baseball. Ash is like, you know, if
- 26:04Speaker 1: you don't want anything, can you just leave me alone?
- 26:06Speaker 1: I'm tired as hell. I'm sorry, sweetheart. Blanca turns and
- 26:11Speaker 1: he's like, oh, my, apologies for bothering you. Our conversation
- 26:14Speaker 1: was quite informative for me, Thank you. Ash turns his
- 26:18Speaker 1: head more and is like informative. How so? Blanca stands,
- 26:23Speaker 1: let's see, you hate baseball, and that's how I learned
- 26:26Speaker 1: that I shouldn't invite you to go to a game
- 26:28Speaker 1: with me. Furthermore, there's a bit of an irishman hidden
- 26:32Speaker 1: down inside you. Ash looks not pleased. Blanca continues, presumably
- 26:40Speaker 1: Northern Ireland. Am I wrong? Ash says, how did you?
- 26:46Speaker 1: And then we had kind of some narration here it
- 26:49Speaker 1: goes warning, warning, warning, the yellow lights flash. Yeah, it's obvious.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Ash does not want to talk about that, and he's
- 26:58Speaker 1: not sure why he would even know. Blanca says, I
- 27:03Speaker 1: can faintly hear an Irish accent in your English. Ash,
- 27:08Speaker 1: now staring at him intently, says you, what are you?
- 27:13Speaker 1: Blanca is like a murderer, have a nice afternoon nap,
- 27:18Speaker 1: and he walks off. Blanka is kind of cool. So
- 27:22Speaker 1: now Blanca is sitting in I guess like an office
- 27:24Speaker 1: or something, and he's looking over some notes that maybe
- 27:27Speaker 1: he made or were given to him. I'm not really sure.
- 27:31Speaker 1: And he's reading them and they say Ashlynx real name
- 27:36Speaker 1: Oslan J. Callen Rey's birthdate August twelfth, nineteen sixty eight.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Family father James Callenry's mother, no data, brother Gryffin J.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Callen Reyes note the whereabouts of Gryffin J. Callen Rey's
- 27:49Speaker 1: are unknown since he went to Don Tom Vietnam nineteen
- 27:53Speaker 1: seventy three. Griffin's mother, Audrey Callenris, died nineteen sixty seven,
- 27:59Speaker 1: and he thinks, which means that Ash's mother can't be
- 28:02Speaker 1: Missus Callenry's. He looks further down the page and he
- 28:07Speaker 1: is surprised by something and it says nineteen seventy six
- 28:12Speaker 1: arrest and imprisonment by local police, charge first degree murder.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Same year, November non prosecution disposal. He thinks murder six
- 28:24Speaker 1: years ago. He was only eight years old. Really. He
- 28:28Speaker 1: is also wearing glasses, by the way, and he starts
- 28:30Speaker 1: to remove them, and he looks over and Ash is
- 28:34Speaker 1: standing at the door. Door is slightly open, and he
- 28:37Speaker 1: looks kind of pissed because he's Ash. And Blanka says, hi,
- 28:43Speaker 1: I hope you don't mind having me around here. Ash
- 28:46Speaker 1: crosses his arms and says, I didn't get a real
- 28:48Speaker 1: answer yesterday. My old man was a second generation Irish immigrant.
- 28:53Speaker 1: I've never told anyone, So how could you see through
- 28:56Speaker 1: me so easily? Blanka thinks is he anxious? And then
- 29:00Speaker 1: out loud, he says, so your father, is it? I see?
- 29:04Speaker 1: He thinks it's different from his normal alertness. Ash is like, hey,
- 29:09Speaker 1: answer my question. Blanca thinks he's awfully nervous. Though why
- 29:14Speaker 1: it's probably weird for someone to just know all sorts
- 29:17Speaker 1: of shit about you, Blanca, I don't know. Ash is like, oh,
- 29:21Speaker 1: and Golzine said you were called here for my sake?
- 29:24Speaker 1: What's that supposed to mean? Blanca kind of looks at
- 29:27Speaker 1: something that we don't see, and then he reaches out
- 29:29Speaker 1: and he like grabs Ash's arm and Ash panics, like
- 29:33Speaker 1: really panics, and then he like bats Blanco away. Ash
- 29:39Speaker 1: is just kind of standing now, breathing hard and sweating,
- 29:42Speaker 1: and he says, what the hell are you doing? Blanca
- 29:45Speaker 1: is silent for a second, and then he opens his
- 29:47Speaker 1: hand to reveal a little dot in it that is
- 29:51Speaker 1: supposed to be a dead mosquito. We can see it's
- 29:54Speaker 1: corpse flying away to heaven above it, and he says,
- 29:58Speaker 1: there was a mosquito on you. It didn't bite you,
- 30:00Speaker 1: did it. At this point, Ash can't really even say anything.
- 30:04Speaker 1: He is hyperventilating and holding his chests. Fuck, and Blanca
- 30:09Speaker 1: thinks he's in a state of excessive anxiety to a
- 30:12Speaker 1: degree where it's causing difficulty breathing. Yeah, yeah, good job.
- 30:16Speaker 1: At this point, Blanca stands and he says, hey, are
- 30:19Speaker 1: you all right? You look pale. Ash shrinks back and says,
- 30:23Speaker 1: don't don't touch me, and he just runs off, which
- 30:27Speaker 1: makes sense. Blanc is like Ash, he thinks, seems like
- 30:32Speaker 1: he loathes being touched to a most severe extent anxiousness
- 30:36Speaker 1: and terror. Now to bring it back to the murder,
- 30:40Speaker 1: So now he is back sitting down and he is
- 30:43Speaker 1: typing things into a computer and he thinks, I wonder
- 30:47Speaker 1: what on earth happened six years ago? He finds something
- 30:52Speaker 1: the murder case of the blue Beard of Cape Cod.
- 30:54Speaker 1: I still don't know why it's called that, And he
- 30:57Speaker 1: finds an article Boston Time, October twenty first, nineteen seventy six.
- 31:04Speaker 1: After Robert Peterson, employee of a real estate company, had
- 31:07Speaker 1: been shot dead by an eight year old boy, local
- 31:11Speaker 1: police discovered multiple bodies, all teenage boys, buried in his backyard.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Fuck well, I mean not that we didn't know that.
- 31:19Speaker 1: According to the evidence, the boys appeared to have been
- 31:22Speaker 1: sexually assaulted before being murdered. Fifteen bodies in total were discovered. Geez,
- 31:28Speaker 1: fifteen kids before Ash killed him. Anyway, the article continues,
- 31:32Speaker 1: The boy who shot Peterson to death had been a
- 31:35Speaker 1: member of the youth baseball team that he coached, and
- 31:38Speaker 1: it is assumed that he was sexually abused by Peterson
- 31:41Speaker 1: multiple times. That would be correct. We also now see
- 31:46Speaker 1: on the computer screen like covered bodies, like people standing
- 31:51Speaker 1: around them, like probably the dead boys and shit, and
- 31:55Speaker 1: Blanca thinks a baseball team coach, Ah, you figured it out,
- 32:00Speaker 1: And he thinks of Ash, saying I hate baseball he
- 32:03Speaker 1: thinks extreme anxiety, a primal fear of adult man, a
- 32:07Speaker 1: severe psychological trauma. Yep, there you go. He's now sitting
- 32:14Speaker 1: out at that like really nice table by the garden
- 32:16Speaker 1: house and he's like thinking about shit and he doesn't
- 32:19Speaker 1: look happy about it. And then he hears Ash say, hey,
- 32:23Speaker 1: let me go. He stands up and he's like, what
- 32:26Speaker 1: the fuck's going on? And he starts to walk over
- 32:29Speaker 1: towards the noise, and he hears someone say, what did
- 32:33Speaker 1: you just say? You think you can talk to me
- 32:36Speaker 1: like that? He now sees that there's a man standing
- 32:40Speaker 1: in front of Ash who's kind of like blocking him,
- 32:43Speaker 1: like up against a wall kind of, and he thinks, well,
- 32:46Speaker 1: this hardly looks normal. None of it's normal, Blanca. The
- 32:50Speaker 1: man continues, do you really think you can get away
- 32:53Speaker 1: with talking to me like that? Huh? Blanca does the
- 32:57Speaker 1: smart thing and he interjects and he says, Ash, are
- 32:59Speaker 1: you over there? We now see that's the man who is,
- 33:04Speaker 1: by the way, Marvin. You remember Marvin from episode two.
- 33:08Speaker 1: He's the whole reason that Ash was in jail for
- 33:11Speaker 1: that amount of time because he didn't kill him, but
- 33:13Speaker 1: it looked like he did anyway, he's there with Ash,
- 33:16Speaker 1: and he says, Hey, what the hell do you want?
- 33:19Speaker 1: Blanca thinks I should be the one asking you. That
- 33:23Speaker 1: the distraction that Blanca caused allows Ash to run and
- 33:28Speaker 1: get the fuck out of there before Marvin can catch him,
- 33:32Speaker 1: and before Marvin can you know, think to do anything.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Gregory appears and says, Marvin the mature has requested you
- 33:39Speaker 1: hurry up and go. Blanca is not thrilled by any
- 33:43Speaker 1: of this, thank god, and he thinks, I've been told
- 33:47Speaker 1: that Asks used to be a real street kid, living
- 33:49Speaker 1: solely on the streets. Now we see Ash. He is
- 33:54Speaker 1: with a teacher. I guess they're looking at something on
- 33:57Speaker 1: the computer, and we get this Blanco narration goes. But
- 34:01Speaker 1: in spite of that, he's an unbelievably intelligent kid. I mean,
- 34:05Speaker 1: just because your homeless doesn't mean you're not smart, Blanca.
- 34:07Speaker 1: But whatever, the quality and depth of what's being taught
- 34:10Speaker 1: in these lessons is astounding on its own. But not
- 34:13Speaker 1: only does he understand everything, no, he even rivals the
- 34:17Speaker 1: professors who are experts on the subjects. At this point,
- 34:20Speaker 1: Ash is asking something to the teacher and it continues
- 34:25Speaker 1: clearly his outward appearance can't be the only well made
- 34:28Speaker 1: thing about him. Gross. Ash is now thinking about something,
- 34:32Speaker 1: and it continues the thrill of discovery and training a genius.
- 34:36Speaker 1: I suppose one doesn't have to be a certain mature
- 34:39Speaker 1: to be fascinated by him. All right, new scene, So
- 34:44Speaker 1: now we see a really shitty area of New York.
- 34:47Speaker 1: I assume like it looks like maybe these are apartments
- 34:50Speaker 1: or something. Basically it's just totally graffiti covered everywhere and
- 34:55Speaker 1: just really like the buildings are like in disrepair. Stone
- 35:00Speaker 1: is cracked, and there is trash literally everywhere, which sounds
- 35:05Speaker 1: like it's appropriate for this period in New York. Then
- 35:08Speaker 1: we see that standing outside in front of a like
- 35:11Speaker 1: a probably store that's closed because it has like the gatedown,
- 35:15Speaker 1: is a bunch of teenagers. There's like tons of graffiti here,
- 35:19Speaker 1: and it's super fun graffiti. There's like a chicken and shit.
- 35:23Speaker 1: So we don't know most of these kids, at least
- 35:26Speaker 1: I don't think I know them, except Ash is there,
- 35:29Speaker 1: and so is I believe Alex, And I actually think
- 35:33Speaker 1: Alex is resting his arm on Ash's shoulder. It's nice
- 35:37Speaker 1: to see that they've been buddies for a while. Yeah,
- 35:39Speaker 1: So they're just talking and shit, and then we see
- 35:41Speaker 1: that Blanca is watching from like around a corner near
- 35:45Speaker 1: this flying zebra graffiti that's super cool. By the way,
- 35:49Speaker 1: I love Akimi Yoshida's graffiti because it's like super like
- 35:54Speaker 1: sketchy and the way I would draw graffiti, which actually
- 35:57Speaker 1: is the way I draw graffiti, which is like not
- 35:59Speaker 1: very good, it's like super childish. I love it. Anyway.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Blanca is wearing sunglasses so we can be kind of incognito,
- 36:06Speaker 1: but he kind of pulls them down to see better,
- 36:08Speaker 1: and he thinks even among street kids, he doesn't fail
- 36:10Speaker 1: to stand out. We see Ash and Alex again. Alex
- 36:16Speaker 1: has long hair, by the way, which he doesn't in
- 36:19Speaker 1: like the future, but he does now. He also looks
- 36:21Speaker 1: almost the same anyway. Blanca continues first and foremost, and
- 36:26Speaker 1: maybe his physical feature is attracting attention, but whatever it is.
- 36:31Speaker 1: Something about this fourteen year old boy makes other kids
- 36:33Speaker 1: submit to him, or maybe they just want to be
- 36:36Speaker 1: his friends. I mean, that's not's so true. We then
- 36:39Speaker 1: see that some men, like adult men that look kind
- 36:43Speaker 1: of like they're not the nicest people, are approaching the kids,
- 36:47Speaker 1: and he thinks, however, to stand out also means to
- 36:50Speaker 1: become a target. Ash turns because they're you know, approaching
- 36:54Speaker 1: from behind, and Alex looks kind of nervous, and Blanca thinks,
- 36:58Speaker 1: in a world ruled by violence, beauty is nothing but
- 37:01Speaker 1: a curse. One of the guys kind of grabs Ash
- 37:05Speaker 1: by the chin, as is the fashion, and Ash looks
- 37:08Speaker 1: pretty terrified, and then he also kind of grabs Ash's arm.
- 37:12Speaker 1: He's trying to pull him somewhere, and the other guys
- 37:14Speaker 1: look pretty happy about this, and then suddenly his face
- 37:17Speaker 1: changes and Blanca notices and Ash just out of nowhere
- 37:22Speaker 1: elbows the guy who is holding him in the fucking chest.
- 37:25Speaker 1: And then he goes to the other guy and kicks
- 37:27Speaker 1: him in the face. And then he like kicks the
- 37:30Speaker 1: other guy, and Blanca thinks, I'm surprised he already knows
- 37:34Speaker 1: basic fighting maneuvers. He appears frail and scared, which causes
- 37:38Speaker 1: his opponents to let their card down. Incredible, he knows
- 37:42Speaker 1: how to turn his biggest weakness into a weapon. Don't
- 37:44Speaker 1: think he has a choice, Blanca. So that last guy
- 37:48Speaker 1: that Ash had like kicked, he isn't down, and he
- 37:51Speaker 1: reaches into his jacket like he's about to get out
- 37:54Speaker 1: a gun, and Blanca notices, but so does Ash, and
- 37:57Speaker 1: Ash gets out his gun faster and fucking shoots him
- 38:01Speaker 1: in the head and the guy's down. Blanca thinks, without
- 38:06Speaker 1: batting an eye, Ash just stares coldly. The other two
- 38:13Speaker 1: guys run for their lives because yeah, and Ash looks
- 38:20Speaker 1: pretty unfazed, and his other friends are like super excited
- 38:24Speaker 1: about how he killed this dude, and Blanca thinks his
- 38:27Speaker 1: reflexes are out of this world. That was a clean shot,
- 38:31Speaker 1: no signs of intimidation or caution, one shot without any
- 38:34Speaker 1: internal struggle. That's what you call an inexorable, shiver inducing callousness. Fuck, dude,
- 38:41Speaker 1: I mean, he did just kill someone real easy, but
- 38:44Speaker 1: still that guy was trying to hurt him and possibly
- 38:47Speaker 1: kill him. What do you want? Blanca thinks of Golzin,
- 38:52Speaker 1: saying I'd like to think of him as a god's vessel.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Ash is at this point putting the gun back in
- 38:58Speaker 1: his pants and and Blanca thinks a god's vessel or
- 39:03Speaker 1: perhaps a devil's ma. Sure, what on earth have you
- 39:08Speaker 1: discovered here, I wonder? Blanco looks over again, and he
- 39:12Speaker 1: is surprised to see that now in front of Ash
- 39:15Speaker 1: is Marvin. I guess he has just pulled up in
- 39:18Speaker 1: his car, and he thinks that man, yes, that's definitely Marvin.
- 39:24Speaker 1: Marvin has a big fucking grin on his face because
- 39:27Speaker 1: he's a piece of shit. And we see that Ash
- 39:32Speaker 1: is terrified and is not looking Marvin in the eye,
- 39:39Speaker 1: and Blanca thinks, what's this. Ash's expression just changed in
- 39:43Speaker 1: the blink of an eye so drastically it's nearly impossible
- 39:46Speaker 1: to believe that he's the same boy from only moments before.
- 39:49Speaker 1: And it's not as though he's putting on an act
- 39:52Speaker 1: to make this guy lower his guard. No, he's genuinely scared. Yeah.
- 39:57Speaker 1: We cut to later. I guess Ash has gone off
- 40:00Speaker 1: with Marvin and Blanc has followed, because now we're outside
- 40:06Speaker 1: of a hotel called Hotel Moon, next to a pornographic
- 40:11Speaker 1: movie theater. Hey, this does not look like this is
- 40:15Speaker 1: a nice place at all. And Marvin has his hand
- 40:19Speaker 1: around Ash's back and he is pushing him inside of
- 40:22Speaker 1: the hotel. Blanca stares up at the hotel sign and
- 40:27Speaker 1: he thinks, oh dear, what scenery the epitome of sadness.
- 40:34Speaker 1: At this point, Blanca is I guess across the street.
- 40:36Speaker 1: He's sitting in a cafe drinking some coffee, and he
- 40:39Speaker 1: has this really dumb shirt on that says I Love
- 40:42Speaker 1: and why I love, and an apple and then big
- 40:45Speaker 1: apple underneath it. It's pretty bad. It's relevant, so that's
- 40:51Speaker 1: why I told you. Anyway, he's looking out the window
- 40:54Speaker 1: and he sees something. Marvin is now exiting the hotel,
- 40:58Speaker 1: and he thinks, there he is so far, so good.
- 41:01Speaker 1: But Ash isn't with him. No, he's alone. Blanca stands. Now.
- 41:08Speaker 1: We see Blanka leaning over the window at the front
- 41:11Speaker 1: desk of the hotel, which is separated by bulletproof glass,
- 41:15Speaker 1: which I thought was a really nice touch because I
- 41:17Speaker 1: absolutely believe that this place would have bulletproof glass if
- 41:21Speaker 1: the Chinese food restaurants in West Philly have its. I
- 41:25Speaker 1: can't even imagine this super seedy rent by the hour
- 41:29Speaker 1: hotel not having it. Anyway, he says, excuse me, the
- 41:35Speaker 1: man who just left the building, wasn't he accompanied by someone?
- 41:38Speaker 1: At first, the front desk guy says, hey, you, what's
- 41:41Speaker 1: this about. Blanca is starting to garner attention from the
- 41:45Speaker 1: other people in the hotel, who look like they don't
- 41:49Speaker 1: trust him and they might hurt him. Not that you
- 41:53Speaker 1: can hurt Blanca. He's way taller and way scarier than
- 41:56Speaker 1: everyone else. But still this doesn't look good. I'm Blanca's says, oh, well,
- 42:02Speaker 1: you see, and he thinks not a good sign. He
- 42:06Speaker 1: continues out loud, I'm an acquaintance of mister Marvin's. No
- 42:10Speaker 1: need to worry. The guy at the front desk says, oh,
- 42:14Speaker 1: fifth floor, room number five fifteen. The brat has the keys.
- 42:19Speaker 1: Blanca thinks, I gather that he's a regular here. Kind
- 42:22Speaker 1: of sounds like it. The dude at the front desk continues,
- 42:26Speaker 1: gets in from your height, you must be big in
- 42:28Speaker 1: every way. You better keep that brat in one piece,
- 42:31Speaker 1: all right, And then he laughs and Blanc is just like,
- 42:34Speaker 1: what me too, Blanca, that's not good that these people
- 42:39Speaker 1: are acknowledging what is happening is happening, but it obviously
- 42:43Speaker 1: is happening. So Blanca walks up the stairs towards the
- 42:48Speaker 1: fifth floor, and the hallway is just fucking covered in
- 42:52Speaker 1: really explicit graffiti, Like do you remember in episode maybe thirteen.
- 42:57Speaker 1: I was telling you how the graffiti in that episode
- 43:01Speaker 1: was like real professional looking, but it didn't seem like
- 43:04Speaker 1: it said anything like it was created by Ai even
- 43:07Speaker 1: though it was in twenty eighteen, so it wasn't. And
- 43:10Speaker 1: I said something about Akimi yoshi does graffiti being like
- 43:13Speaker 1: really like not professional looking, but like also really on points.
- 43:19Speaker 1: And I said something about, like how in Bennefish and honestly,
- 43:23Speaker 1: in a lot of TV graffiti in general, I just
- 43:26Speaker 1: don't see enough penises, which are just normally in graffiti everywhere.
- 43:31Speaker 1: And I had said that Akimi Yoshita had done one.
- 43:34Speaker 1: It's in this scene there's this giant fucking dick on
- 43:37Speaker 1: the wall. Yeah, along with like really explicit shit, and
- 43:42Speaker 1: it's all in really good English, by the way, so
- 43:46Speaker 1: I guess good for her. Anyway, Blanca comes to room
- 43:52Speaker 1: five point fifteen and he knocks on the door and
- 43:55Speaker 1: he says, Ash, are you in there. He puts his
- 43:58Speaker 1: hand on the handle and he turns it and realizes
- 44:01Speaker 1: that it's unlocked. So he opens the door to like
- 44:05Speaker 1: our darkened room where a bed is in full view.
- 44:09Speaker 1: Like it's really gross room, like the walls are just
- 44:13Speaker 1: cracked up and shit, and on the bed is definitely
- 44:16Speaker 1: a person, but we cannot see from this angle, and
- 44:20Speaker 1: then we see that it is Ash. He has his
- 44:23Speaker 1: eyes closed honestly does not look like he's asleep though.
- 44:27Speaker 1: He just looks like he's kind of wincing, and he
- 44:31Speaker 1: is obviously naked, and he's like really beaten up. And
- 44:37Speaker 1: his wrists I guess were previously tied. He's got kind
- 44:40Speaker 1: of a rope around them, but it doesn't look like
- 44:42Speaker 1: it's tied to anything, like it was tied to the headboard,
- 44:45Speaker 1: but he's been released, but the rope is still just
- 44:48Speaker 1: kind of around his arms. And yeah, I mean, it
- 44:53Speaker 1: looks really bad. Like I mean, I don't even know
- 44:57Speaker 1: what else to say. It just looks like whatever was
- 45:00Speaker 1: going to happen has already happened, As is usually the
- 45:03Speaker 1: case with Ash, when someone tries to save him, it's
- 45:06Speaker 1: too late. Well now I'm sad. Anyway, Blanca is maybe
- 45:12Speaker 1: more surprised to see this than he should be, and
- 45:15Speaker 1: he's just like Ash. Ash kind of perks up, sees
- 45:19Speaker 1: that it's Blanca, and then grabs the blankets to cover
- 45:22Speaker 1: himself and says, don't come near me. He starts to hyperventilate.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Blanca thinks this is bad instinctually, and this is probably
- 45:31Speaker 1: not the right thing for him to do. Blanca runs
- 45:34Speaker 1: to Ash and he like grabs hold of him, trying
- 45:39Speaker 1: to comfort him, I guess, and Ash just starts shaking
- 45:44Speaker 1: and panicking, like really, he looks so afraid, and Blanca
- 45:53Speaker 1: is freaking out, which is probably like not the best response,
- 45:57Speaker 1: you know to a kid who is having a panic,
- 46:00Speaker 1: because you're touching them. He's like clutching Ash tighter and
- 46:04Speaker 1: like trying to calm him down, but this doesn't really
- 46:07Speaker 1: work like that, and he's like, Ash, my god, Ash,
- 46:10Speaker 1: you need to breathe come on, take a deep, slow breath,
- 46:13Speaker 1: don't snap. Oh god. Ash at this point is kind
- 46:18Speaker 1: of clinging on to Blanka, like not super intentionally, that's
- 46:23Speaker 1: just kind of what's happening because he's freaking out because
- 46:26Speaker 1: he's having a paddic attack and we see, you know,
- 46:28Speaker 1: the rope is still around his wrist and his wrists
- 46:32Speaker 1: are just bruised from the rope and he's still shaking,
- 46:36Speaker 1: and Blanc is like, I won't hurt you. I promised,
- 46:39Speaker 1: so please calm down, trust me. He holds Ash close
- 46:46Speaker 1: and Ash just looks terrible. He's sweating, and Blanca says,
- 46:51Speaker 1: I won't hurt you, okay, trust me, calm down, It's
- 46:55Speaker 1: all right. Breathe slowly and steadily. Yeah, just like that.
- 47:01Speaker 1: Ash slowly comes out of it and he closes his eyes.
- 47:07Speaker 1: Blanc is just kind of holding him now, and he thinks,
- 47:13Speaker 1: how many years has it been since the last time
- 47:16Speaker 1: somebody holds him this way? So now we see Ash,
- 47:21Speaker 1: I guess a bit later, he's coming out of the
- 47:25Speaker 1: bathroom in the hotel room. He's wearing a like a
- 47:29Speaker 1: bathroom which I really doubt this hotel would have, but hey,
- 47:33Speaker 1: maybe they're really good to their clients, and I don't
- 47:36Speaker 1: know anyway. Blanca looks over at him and says, feeling refreshed, now,
- 47:43Speaker 1: come and sit down. Ash sits on the bed. He looks,
- 47:48Speaker 1: you know, not super happy, like not angry, just kind
- 47:52Speaker 1: of defeated. Blanca holds a cop out towards Ash and says,
- 47:58Speaker 1: would you like some tea? It's from the vending machine,
- 48:01Speaker 1: so I don't know about the taste. Ash takes the
- 48:04Speaker 1: cup from him. Blanca says, you know, I didn't mean
- 48:08Speaker 1: to intrude on your privacy, but you and him, that's
- 48:13Speaker 1: not happening with your consent, right, he must receive punishment,
- 48:18Speaker 1: am I correct in thinking that the mature doesn't know
- 48:20Speaker 1: about this yet. Ash looks sullen and he says, Marvin
- 48:27Speaker 1: in that bald head, they're exactly the same. Blanca doesn't
- 48:32Speaker 1: say anything. He's not looking at Blanca, by the way,
- 48:37Speaker 1: He's kind of looking down, and he says, don't you
- 48:40Speaker 1: already know who I am? And what happened to me?
- 48:43Speaker 1: The one who sold me to that bald head was
- 48:45Speaker 1: none other than Marvin. The only difference is the kind
- 48:49Speaker 1: of places they prefer for it. One likes to do
- 48:52Speaker 1: it in some cheap hotel that weeks of urine, another
- 48:55Speaker 1: while wrapped in a downfilled comforter. But that's about it.
- 48:59Speaker 1: A kind of way of terror and panic comes over
- 49:03Speaker 1: Ash's face, and he's kind of like reaching for his
- 49:07Speaker 1: chest or neck with his hand and his bruised wrist,
- 49:11Speaker 1: and he continues. Their eyes hollow, absolutely nothing like gazing
- 49:17Speaker 1: into an entirely empty, pitch black room. They all have
- 49:21Speaker 1: the exact same eyes. Blanca thinks fear and rage. In
- 49:28Speaker 1: the moments when his rage overcomes his fears, he transforms
- 49:32Speaker 1: into a merciless, demonic beast. Ash continues and then they
- 49:38Speaker 1: all go saying the same things, claiming it was me
- 49:41Speaker 1: who asked for it, or some shit. Those bastards. One day,
- 49:45Speaker 1: I'll make them pay for this. He starts to cry.
- 49:48Speaker 1: Blanca just kind of looks at him, and Ash kind
- 49:52Speaker 1: of collects himself and says, are you gonna tell him?
- 49:55Speaker 1: Blanca's like, no, if that's not what you want, I'll
- 49:59Speaker 1: keep quiet. And if you want to punish them by
- 50:01Speaker 1: your own hand one day, I'm fine with that. Ash
- 50:05Speaker 1: looks like he doesn't totally believe that, but then he
- 50:08Speaker 1: kind of like laughs a little, maybe because he's excited
- 50:13Speaker 1: about the idea of killing these people. That's not what
- 50:16Speaker 1: it is. But anyway, Blanc is like what any thinks
- 50:19Speaker 1: he actually laughed. Ash says, you know, the stuff you're
- 50:23Speaker 1: wearing that look ain't tight on you at all, really
- 50:28Speaker 1: looks like rental clothes on you. Blanca looks at his
- 50:32Speaker 1: really dumb big apple shirt and he's like, hey, what
- 50:36Speaker 1: this look ain't tight. Ash starts to laugh, and he's like, no,
- 50:40Speaker 1: you're just making it worse. Do me a favor, and
- 50:43Speaker 1: never you slang again. Blanca thinks he's such a cute
- 50:46Speaker 1: child when he's laughing. Fuck. I just wanted to pause
- 50:52Speaker 1: here to say this is something we've seen kind of
- 50:54Speaker 1: multiple times with Ash. Once he feels relatively safe around someone,
- 50:59Speaker 1: he starts to like playfully make fun of them. It's
- 51:01Speaker 1: kind of his deal. So I mean, it's nice to
- 51:05Speaker 1: see him, you know, getting a little bit more comfortable
- 51:08Speaker 1: around Blanca, seeing as, at least what we've seen of
- 51:12Speaker 1: Blanca in this part of his past, Blanca really didn't
- 51:16Speaker 1: want to help. At least, that's what I want to say.
- 51:18Speaker 1: Right now, let's move forward anyway, we see another kind
- 51:22Speaker 1: of image like we had seen earlier, where we're like
- 51:24Speaker 1: looking up through trees and sunlight is streaming down, and
- 51:28Speaker 1: Blanca thinks, I wonder if he'd been given love instead
- 51:32Speaker 1: of fear, and if he could rely on someone who
- 51:35Speaker 1: wouldn't abuse but gently embrace him. Blanca and Golsine are
- 51:40Speaker 1: like standing and like maybe drinking something like out in
- 51:43Speaker 1: the garden, and Golsine says something to drink for you,
- 51:47Speaker 1: and Blanca says, no, I'm fine, thank you. He continues
- 51:50Speaker 1: to think, No, it's useless to think about given that
- 51:54Speaker 1: he never had a choice. He hasn't had and won't
- 51:58Speaker 1: ever have a choice. Okay, I need to stop there,
- 52:03Speaker 1: because we need to talk about something that's really big
- 52:05Speaker 1: and important in this which is that Blanca is absolutely
- 52:09Speaker 1: correct that Ash hasn't had a choice, that he has
- 52:12Speaker 1: been forced to go with these decisions that are not
- 52:17Speaker 1: his own and not what he wanted. But fucking what
- 52:19Speaker 1: do you mean he'll never have a choice? You are
- 52:22Speaker 1: an adult, Blanca. Could you not help? You know, he
- 52:28Speaker 1: basically is asking you to help him. He's told you
- 52:34Speaker 1: what's going on. He's told you that Golding is involved
- 52:37Speaker 1: in this. If he doesn't have a choice and he's
- 52:41Speaker 1: never gonna have a choice, it's because no one is
- 52:44Speaker 1: going to help him, and you're responsible for that. Yeah,
- 52:48Speaker 1: I'm crying this one. I did not cry in the
- 52:50Speaker 1: last take. You're responsible, Blanca. There's never a situation where
- 52:55Speaker 1: you don't have a choice, and you couldn't have a choice.
- 53:00Speaker 1: You've someone who is reaching out to you and you're
- 53:03Speaker 1: not doing anything. Okay, continuing right along, So Blanca and Okay,
- 53:14Speaker 1: I'm upset. So Blanca and Dino are standing out in
- 53:17Speaker 1: this garden area, and Dino says, and I think it's
- 53:21Speaker 1: time you let me hear your opinion. If you don't mind,
- 53:24Speaker 1: Blanca says, I have indeed come to a conclusion. Your
- 53:28Speaker 1: observations are certainly right. Mecheur. Dino says, I take it.
- 53:32Speaker 1: I can count on your consent. Then, Blanca is like
- 53:36Speaker 1: just one thing beforehand that I'd be keen on asking
- 53:39Speaker 1: you about Deno's Like, what is it? Blanca says, he
- 53:44Speaker 1: might revolt against you. Dino is silent. Blanca continues, you
- 53:50Speaker 1: referred to him as a god's vessel. Correct. A vessel
- 53:54Speaker 1: cannot revolt against its creator. He, however, is a human being. Yeah,
- 54:00Speaker 1: the act of trying to hold control over human being
- 54:03Speaker 1: is not to be taken lightly. I myself am a
- 54:06Speaker 1: good example. When the time is right, he may become
- 54:10Speaker 1: your most ruthless enemy, putting everyone in everything else in
- 54:13Speaker 1: the shade. Are you prepared for this? Dino says, there's
- 54:19Speaker 1: no reason to prepare for anything. I will enforce obedience
- 54:22Speaker 1: on him through any means. Blanca pauses and then says,
- 54:27Speaker 1: I understand. I will take the job. So he was
- 54:34Speaker 1: warned anyway. Next page we cut to Ash being slapped
- 54:39Speaker 1: in the face. Yay, of course it's Marvin and he's
- 54:43Speaker 1: grabbing Ash by the arm and he says, you got
- 54:45Speaker 1: a pretty big mouth on you these days. Ash, who
- 54:48Speaker 1: looks pretty beat up, says, how many times do I
- 54:50Speaker 1: have to tell you I won't let you boss me
- 54:52Speaker 1: around anymore. Marvin's like, ha, don't get all conceded just
- 54:57Speaker 1: because you become the miss Seur's little mistress. Ash spits
- 55:00Speaker 1: in his face yay, And of course that fisses him off,
- 55:03Speaker 1: and he says, damn you brat, and he goes to
- 55:06Speaker 1: raise his fist to hit Ash, and his fist is
- 55:09Speaker 1: grabbed by someone. It's Blanca. Yay. Blanca looks pissed, and
- 55:15Speaker 1: he says, why are you beating that child? Marvin's like,
- 55:21Speaker 1: the hell do you want? Blanca says, I've just been
- 55:24Speaker 1: charged with the task of training him by Masure gold Seine,
- 55:28Speaker 1: and I already know very well who you are and
- 55:31Speaker 1: what kind of things you've done to him. Yeah. Marvin
- 55:35Speaker 1: is incensed, and he reaches and takes out his gun,
- 55:37Speaker 1: but Blanca like chops him in the hand and the
- 55:40Speaker 1: gun falls out of his hands, and then Blanca grabs
- 55:43Speaker 1: him by the wrist and fucking breaks it, like breaks
- 55:47Speaker 1: his fucking wrist in half, more or less, and he screams,
- 55:50Speaker 1: because you would if your wrist got broken, and Ash
- 55:52Speaker 1: is just standing there like what the fuck is going on?
- 55:55Speaker 1: Blanca grabs Marvin's gun from the ground and he sticks
- 55:59Speaker 1: it in his face and he says, I'll keep your
- 56:02Speaker 1: actions a secret from the mature. However, do not even
- 56:06Speaker 1: think about laying a finger on this child ever. Again,
- 56:09Speaker 1: you won't get away with just a wrist injury next time. Yay.
- 56:14Speaker 1: Marvin is fucking scared, which makes sense because that was scary.
- 56:19Speaker 1: And Blanca takes the magazine out of Marvin's gun and
- 56:24Speaker 1: slides it back to him. Ash is just standing there
- 56:27Speaker 1: and Blanca turns him and says, come with me. Ash.
- 56:31Speaker 1: Ash looks, I don't know what this expression is, super
- 56:35Speaker 1: fucking grateful, honestly, like maybe as someone he can kind
- 56:40Speaker 1: of trust, and Blanka starts to walk off. Ash turns
- 56:46Speaker 1: back and looks at Marvin and then runs off to
- 56:48Speaker 1: follow Blanca. Ash says, hey, did you just break one
- 56:53Speaker 1: of his bones? Blanca kind of sighs, and he's like,
- 56:56Speaker 1: mm hm, you could say so. He should still be
- 56:59Speaker 1: able to take a leak, assuming his wrist doesn't swell
- 57:02Speaker 1: up to the size of a baseball bat. Yeah. Ash
- 57:04Speaker 1: looks like super impressed and thankful. They are walking off
- 57:09Speaker 1: together now and Ash says, but damn, how did you
- 57:13Speaker 1: do that? How can you just break someone's wrist that easily?
- 57:16Speaker 1: Blanca says, you see, it's a matter of forced direction
- 57:19Speaker 1: and vital spots. Now we see a map with like
- 57:24Speaker 1: little things on it and you know, pieces and shit,
- 57:29Speaker 1: and we hear Blanca say, well, we see it because
- 57:32Speaker 1: it's manga. Well then do you know what this is about? Ash?
- 57:36Speaker 1: Does it looks like? And he says the Battle of
- 57:40Speaker 1: Algiers a simulation of the offensive and defensive battle around
- 57:44Speaker 1: the COSPA. Blanca says, exactly what I want you to
- 57:48Speaker 1: do from here on out is further the simulation based
- 57:51Speaker 1: on the original battle. I'll be acting as the French army,
- 57:54Speaker 1: and your task is to calculate the conquest of the
- 57:57Speaker 1: Cosva led by Algeria's National Liberty Front. All needed information
- 58:02Speaker 1: regarding the local weather forecast, types of available heavy firearms
- 58:05Speaker 1: and so on can be learned from the file I
- 58:07Speaker 1: prepared for you over there. Over the next few days,
- 58:10Speaker 1: you will be waging war against me with all your might.
- 58:13Speaker 1: Got it? Ash doesn't say anything. Blanka continues, all right,
- 58:17Speaker 1: time to begin, You go ahead, please. Ash takes a
- 58:22Speaker 1: like a little stick thing and he moves one of
- 58:24Speaker 1: the pieces back to now or kind of present banana
- 58:29Speaker 1: fish ish sort of past present. Older Ash is staring
- 58:35Speaker 1: off back on the ferry, trying to assess this threats
- 58:40Speaker 1: and we hear Agy saying ash Ash. Ash snaps out
- 58:45Speaker 1: of it and he's like what. He looks over at ag.
- 58:48Speaker 1: Ag says, what's wrong? You're so quiet all of a sudden.
- 58:51Speaker 1: Did something happen? Ash kind of looks down and he says, no,
- 58:57Speaker 1: it's nothing, Okay, don't worry about it. Heg's like, if
- 59:01Speaker 1: that's the case, I'm glad. Ash is still kind of
- 59:04Speaker 1: staring over, trying to figure out what the fuck is
- 59:07Speaker 1: going on, and we see Blanca's feets and he kind
- 59:12Speaker 1: of lowers the brim of his hat over his face
- 59:15Speaker 1: and Ash says, must have been my imagination. He's like
- 59:20Speaker 1: what and Ash says, just forget about it. And that's
- 59:25Speaker 1: the end. So closing, closing thoughts, I am going to
- 59:31Speaker 1: tell you that that went much better than the last time.
- 59:34Speaker 1: And I know because I started to cry in the middle,
- 59:37Speaker 1: so I said the right things to make me cry,
- 59:41Speaker 1: I guess, So I guess that's good. Yeah. I like this.
- 59:46Speaker 1: It's interesting to see how Blanca and Ash met and
- 59:51Speaker 1: more about that part of his life. My only thing
- 59:54Speaker 1: is like I still don't know what happened between when
- 59:56Speaker 1: he was like eight and a half to eleven and
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: he was on the street, and I really really want
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: to know. It's like that only spot in his childhood
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: that you know, there's not, as far as I'm aware,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: like manga abouts, but you know, I'm sure it was bad,
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: so why even go there? Really? But yeah, shit sucked,
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: man really sucked. And Golzine is insane. Really the whole thing,
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: and I haven't really talked about this yet, so I'm
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: glad I'm remembering too right now. The whole thing about
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: comparing Ash to a wild animal or a god's vessel
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: like him not being a person is very interesting because
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: I mean, even as a wild animal, you had to
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: understand unless you have a domesticated animal. Feral animals, people
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: say that they're kind of unpredictable. It's not that animals
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: are unpredictable, it's that you don't know enough to predict them. Right.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Ash is very open about what he wants, which is
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: not any of this, and if you're the right person,
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: you're gonna see it. He's not hard to read unless
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: you don't want to read him, which is kind of
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: what happens through a lot of banana fish. So he's
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: not some dangerous wild thing because everything is predictable if
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: you understand it. And the problem with wild animals and
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: ash is nobody wants to or they're not smart enough to,
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: especially with wild animals, like we just don't get them
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: enough to understand that it's dangerous to be around this
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: thing because you think that you've domesticated it, when really
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: all you've done is somehow got it not to kill
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: you yet, right for some reason. And when it does
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: actually decide that it's time to fucking get rid of you, yeah,
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: it's gonna and you're gonna be surprised. So yeah, Golzian
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: should have known that this was coming, but he didn't
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: think of him like a real person, so he couldn't.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: I saw on breddits Sorry one time, somebody puts something
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: like they were like this is a quote from I
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: don't know, and it was like some people don't break.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: They just bend and bend and bend until they snap
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: back in your face, which I feel like is pertinent
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: to this. Eventually, if you push someone enough, you're gonna
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: be in trouble. So all that shit. But I know,
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: I got really emotional about Blanca saying that Ash never
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: had a choice kind of deal, and he's never going
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: to have a choice. And if you remember back in
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: episode eighteen, Blanca saying something like he trained him because
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: he realized that Ash was never going to be able
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: to exist in any other world but this, and he
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: wanted to give him the tools to survive. It's that
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: same thing where it's like, hey, we've decided that this
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: person's not gonna have a choice and that they've never
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: had a choice and they're not going to Like, I
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: am so fucking hurt that Blanca didn't do anything, you know,
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: because nobody does anything, and it sucks. And I always like,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: I wonder what's going on in Blanca's mind, because like
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: he does stop Marvin from assaulting Ash. I think that
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: that's kind of the end of it there when he
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: threatens Marvin. But what it's okay, that's Golsieane's doing it.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: It's okay that he is being held against as well.
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: That's fine. But because Golzeane is a mafia boss and
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: he's kind of your friend or he's your client, that's okay.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: And also I just wanted to kind of touch on
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: the fact that Ash seems to have some freedom at
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: this point in his life. He's going into the city,
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: he's hanging out with Alex and Co. But he is
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: still very much being held by Goalsing and the mafia.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: And I think it's interesting because, like I'm sure in
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: some capacity he might have been able to run away
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: from them if he's got this mautreedom, but like at
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: this point, he is so afraid of Goalsing and so
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: like fucking traumatized and into this shit that like I
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: don't know if he could or he even thought about that,
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: Like yeah, I mean he obviously wouldn't have anywhere to go.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: These are very powerful people, but like it's just this
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: this I don't know, I'm trying to think of a
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: good word that's not bullshit, but I'll just say bullshit.
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: This bullshit has been so impressed upon him and he's
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: been so like held in this that I don't think
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: he sees an opportunity to get away. And I mean, yeah,
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: so I don't know. That's basically what I wanted to
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: say about this. I feel like I covered the last
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: few things, so the last thing I want to say
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: about this or you know, about anything. Is the idea
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: that Blanca didn't recognize Ash because he was in a
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: state where he was genuinely expressing unguarded emotions is both
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: like the saddest thing ever and just the nicest, most
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: beautiful thing that you could possibly say about Ash and
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: Agy's relationship, you know, Like, yeah, that's that's really all
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: I've got. So I just wanted to say that, Like,
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: I don't enjoy every season of this podcast. Similarly, there
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: have definitely been seasons or whatever where I've been totally
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: ready to end and watching the show and writing notes
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: and talking about it by the end of it several
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: I mean, because you know, I don't like every show
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: the same amount, obviously, and some of them are real
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: fucking stressful to take notes on. I don't know why,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: but I really enjoyed doing this one. This is probably
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: I think the only other one I liked this much
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: was maybe doing Chainsaw Man, which I had like so
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: much fun with it. It was like the first one, and
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: I love chainsawmn so, but yeah, this was definitely one
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: of my favorites, and I don't know if it's gonna
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: be one of yours, because you might just take Banana
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: Fish and that's totally fine, you know. Unfortunately I have
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: to tell you because I haven't verbally yet. That's while
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: rewatching this and I'm also rereading the manga, I sadly
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: had to come to the conclusion that actually Banana Fish
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: is my favorite anime. It's not my second favorite. So yeah,
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: this was a really special season for me. I guess
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: now now that I'm like thinking about it. So yeah,
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: I don't know, and I don't know what that says
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: about me, but it might not be something good. So yeah, anyway,
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: I had our nice time with us, and I hope
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: you had almost an okay time with it. Yeah, So
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: hopefully I will be back next week with that episode
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: where I just talk about stuff with my friend. If
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: I'm not, it's just because, like I said earlier, it sucked.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: And regardless, I will see you metaphorically on March thirteenth,
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: and we're going to start eighty six. So thank you
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: for hanging out with me in theory at least maybe
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: not in real life. And I hope you have like
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: a really good whatever and yeah later weeps.
