Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: I have a couple of accolades I want to go
- 0:01Speaker 1: over because I want us to really appreciate what we
- 0:04Speaker 1: have on our team and what we've seen this year
- 0:06Speaker 1: from this guy. Twenty seven homers typer second most in
- 0:10Speaker 1: the league, the most home runs by a catcher, and
- 0:12Speaker 1: it's not close. The best road slugging percentage by a catcher.
- 0:16Speaker 1: They want to talk about grus Field, but he's doing
- 0:18Speaker 1: it better than anyone on the Roads. First back to
- 0:21Speaker 1: back All Star for the Rocky Cys Trevor Story, and
- 0:23Speaker 1: I don't think there's anybody better to represent this team,
- 0:25Speaker 1: this clubhouse, this organization in Philadelphia than.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Hunter did mention.
- 0:40Speaker 3: I mean you cannot beat that intro.
- 0:42Speaker 4: So here he is Hunter Goodman second and sector star
- 0:45Speaker 4: apparent's the Rockies catcher joining us.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Hunter, congratulations, man, how you doing?
- 0:49Speaker 4: How cool was that when you received word in front
- 0:52Speaker 4: of the whole team, and I mean that was beautifully constructed.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Who was that?
- 0:56Speaker 5: Oh? That was Brett Sullivan, our other catcher. He kind
- 0:59Speaker 5: of does our post game when we win and he's
- 1:03Speaker 5: got he's he's awesome and it was cool. I mean
- 1:07Speaker 5: doing it in front of the locker room with all
- 1:08Speaker 5: the guys. They're getting to celebrate with them. Was I
- 1:10Speaker 5: mean it's really cool.
- 1:13Speaker 6: By the way, Uh, you knew you were gonna be
- 1:15Speaker 6: on the All Star team. So can we not get
- 1:17Speaker 6: sleeves next time? Are you just trying to show off
- 1:19Speaker 6: the guns the whole video? You're just like that's how.
- 1:24Speaker 7: Well?
- 1:25Speaker 5: I mean, you know how it is you play, You
- 1:26Speaker 5: play in sleeves all year. So like when I'm outside
- 1:29Speaker 5: hitting early VP, I gotta try and get rid of
- 1:31Speaker 5: the farmers tan somehow, you know. So I was about
- 1:34Speaker 5: to go out and hit and they kind of just
- 1:37Speaker 5: called the meeting then.
- 1:38Speaker 6: So you're from Tennessee, you know them girls love them
- 1:42Speaker 6: farmers tans. You know your wife loves a farmer than
- 1:44Speaker 6: You're from Tennessee. Man, you're not from Pennsylvania like crauts.
- 1:47Speaker 6: You're from down South.
- 1:50Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, still gotta work on it sometimes.
- 1:54Speaker 8: So well, you went out, you went, you went out
- 1:57Speaker 8: to hit on the field early. Were you practicing for
- 1:59Speaker 8: the run derby?
- 2:01Speaker 5: Yeah, my dad was in town, threw me some VP,
- 2:06Speaker 5: trying to get his arm ready. Just waiting on a call,
- 2:08Speaker 5: see if see if I get invited.
- 2:10Speaker 6: So wait, wait, they haven't asked you, no, Okay. See
- 2:15Speaker 6: this is where I'm gonna lose this my You're gonna
- 2:17Speaker 6: see my head explode on camera.
- 2:21Speaker 9: You should be in if you would do it, you
- 2:22Speaker 9: should be in.
- 2:23Speaker 6: Okay because the fact that there's guys now that are
- 2:26Speaker 6: not All Stars that are doing it and they haven't
- 2:29Speaker 6: asked you to.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Me just.
- 2:33Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I mean, it's all yeah, it's I mean,
- 2:36Speaker 5: I just nobody came to me about anything. I have
- 2:40Speaker 5: been contacted about it, so it's really all I have.
- 2:45Speaker 9: And you hit, you hit bombs.
- 2:47Speaker 6: You have the highest road slugging percentage, like I don't.
- 2:51Speaker 6: I don't know if they know it's not but you're
- 2:52Speaker 6: not playing the All Star Game and course field it
- 2:54Speaker 6: would be on the road, yes, because you have to
- 2:57Speaker 6: wear your white uniforms.
- 2:59Speaker 5: Uh. Yeah, it could be that it's confusing them a
- 3:02Speaker 5: little bit.
- 3:03Speaker 8: Probably How much do you how much do you pine?
- 3:06Speaker 8: How much do you pine for that? Have you and
- 3:08Speaker 8: your agent talked about it? Like, I get it, you're
- 3:10Speaker 8: focused on the game, You're focused on winning all that stuff,
- 3:13Speaker 8: But do you make a call and say, hey, like,
- 3:16Speaker 8: did you realize, like I hit a lot of dangers
- 3:19Speaker 8: and I'm actually in the game.
- 3:22Speaker 5: I mean, I think I've had some Rockies people trying
- 3:25Speaker 5: to trying to help me out and get me in.
- 3:27Speaker 5: I've talked to my agent a little bit. They said
- 3:29Speaker 5: they've they've talked to some people. But I mean, me personally,
- 3:33Speaker 5: I don't want to beg for it. I'm not gonna
- 3:34Speaker 5: beg to try and do it, you know. I mean,
- 3:36Speaker 5: I feel like I've I've done enough to where where
- 3:41Speaker 5: I should get invited, So I'm not. I don't I
- 3:44Speaker 5: don't feel like I need to like beg for it
- 3:45Speaker 5: or anything.
- 3:48Speaker 8: All right, So what about what about the end of
- 3:49Speaker 8: the game? Last All Star game we had the tie
- 3:52Speaker 8: Ball Game. If they came to you at the end
- 3:55Speaker 8: of the game and you just caught your three innings,
- 3:57Speaker 8: four innings, whatever it is, and you say they say, hey,
- 4:02Speaker 8: we want you to hit in the tie Ball game.
- 4:05Speaker 9: Home run derby.
- 4:06Speaker 8: Would you do that or would you be like, I'm
- 4:08Speaker 8: good you didn't pick me for the All Star Game.
- 4:11Speaker 9: I won't do this one. I don't know.
- 4:13Speaker 5: I don't know, it'd probably be I'd probably still do
- 4:16Speaker 5: it because that that was that was a lot of
- 4:19Speaker 5: fun watching that last year. That was a I mean,
- 4:22Speaker 5: you never see anything like it, like that's a It's
- 4:24Speaker 5: a pretty exciting way to end a game. So that
- 4:27Speaker 5: was that was pretty fun. Last year. I'd probably still
- 4:29Speaker 5: do that, to be honest.
- 4:32Speaker 9: Would you do it?
- 4:33Speaker 6: I mean you said you would do it right, Like
- 4:35Speaker 6: I'd be running to the batrack to if they said, hey,
- 4:37Speaker 6: we're doing this cool swing off thing and they're like,
- 4:40Speaker 6: I'd be like, pick me, pick me, pick me, pick me.
- 4:43Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, it was. It was pretty It was pretty cool.
- 4:46Speaker 5: I didn't get to do it last year. I didn't
- 4:47Speaker 5: get picked for it, but uh, watching Shober and then
- 4:50Speaker 5: it was it was fun. Even on the side, even
- 4:53Speaker 5: standing next to the dugout just watching it was. It
- 4:55Speaker 5: was a cool experience.
- 4:58Speaker 8: Some of the fans. Some of the fans asked, like
- 5:01Speaker 8: where were some of the starters. Do you think it's
- 5:04Speaker 8: too much to ask a big leaguer in the All
- 5:05Speaker 8: Star Game to hang around for the whole game in
- 5:09Speaker 8: case something like that happens, or is it even if
- 5:11Speaker 8: they would hang around, you know, you shut it down
- 5:14Speaker 8: for the game, you had a few adult beverages, and
- 5:17Speaker 8: then to turn it back on for a home runner.
- 5:19Speaker 9: Is that too much to ask?
- 5:21Speaker 5: I mean, I mean, you guys kind of do their
- 5:23Speaker 5: own thing. I think I think there's enough good players
- 5:27Speaker 5: there that the starters don't necessarily have to be a
- 5:30Speaker 5: part of it. I think I think there's enough enough
- 5:35Speaker 5: guys who are like reserves. I guess you could say
- 5:38Speaker 5: that could do it, but I could see where fans
- 5:41Speaker 5: want to want some of the starters to stick around
- 5:43Speaker 5: and maybe be a part of that if that happens.
- 5:45Speaker 5: But I think, I mean there's I mean, it's one
- 5:49Speaker 5: game and the chances of being tied after nine and
- 5:51Speaker 5: going in the swing off. I mean, surely it won't
- 5:53Speaker 5: happen every year.
- 5:56Speaker 9: No, I listen.
- 5:57Speaker 6: I was a part of the last high game and
- 5:59Speaker 6: to end in a tie two thousand and two, and
- 6:01Speaker 6: trust me, I would have loved for there to have been.
- 6:02Speaker 9: A home runner.
- 6:03Speaker 6: I would have been awesome because yeah, I might actually
- 6:05Speaker 6: got a chance because all the guys had already left
- 6:07Speaker 6: besides me, so I.
- 6:08Speaker 9: Was like, oh chances.
- 6:10Speaker 6: Yeah, you made the All Star team obviously last year,
- 6:15Speaker 6: and now this is your second year going you play
- 6:18Speaker 6: for the Rockies, And I do not mean this as
- 6:20Speaker 6: a slight to the Rockies. Beautiful place you pack them in.
- 6:22Speaker 6: When you walk around, do you get confused for other
- 6:25Speaker 6: people do people know who you are?
- 6:26Speaker 9: Are you able to kind of go through the background.
- 6:28Speaker 9: Do you hide behind someone you know? Show Hey? Do
- 6:31Speaker 9: you see show Hey and you're like, oh, I can
- 6:33Speaker 9: follow him. That way, the seekers won't know who I am.
- 6:35Speaker 9: I can break right at the right time.
- 6:38Speaker 5: I mean last year it was kind of like, uh yeah,
- 6:41Speaker 5: last year at the All Star Game, the media day stuff,
- 6:44Speaker 5: I didn't get asked a whole lot of questions. Definitely
- 6:47Speaker 5: not a lot of people knew who I was. So
- 6:49Speaker 5: we'll see how it goes this year. I'm not sure
- 6:51Speaker 5: if it'll it will change or if it'll be similar.
- 6:55Speaker 5: We'll see.
- 6:56Speaker 8: Not quite sure yet, Kip, I've been looking for the
- 7:01Speaker 8: best deals for the All Star Game tickets in Philly.
- 7:04Speaker 8: Where are you going to get some tickets from?
- 7:07Speaker 10: I'm going straight out to Rife Field. If Harper and
- 7:09Speaker 10: Swarber both joined the home run derby, I want to
- 7:12Speaker 10: be catching the hometown guys hating them. So I'm going
- 7:14Speaker 10: out to the Rife Field kind of where I think
- 7:15Speaker 10: I could get the best chance of catching one of
- 7:17Speaker 10: those home runs.
- 7:18Speaker 8: Maybe in the second deck. You can go on the
- 7:20Speaker 8: app and you can look to see what your view
- 7:21Speaker 8: is going to because the boys are going to be
- 7:23Speaker 8: launching them Johns and with over thirty five million downloads,
- 7:26Speaker 8: seageek is the number one rated ticketing app. There are
- 7:30Speaker 8: more than seventy thousand events listed at seakeek, including concerts, sports,
- 7:34Speaker 8: festivals and more. And of course I have a code
- 7:37Speaker 8: for you all. You can use the code territory ten
- 7:40Speaker 8: for ten percent off your next set of MLB tickets
- 7:43Speaker 8: at seageek. That's ten percent off MLB tickets with promo
- 7:46Speaker 8: code territory ten. Make sure you click the link in
- 7:50Speaker 8: the description to download the app and have the code
- 7:52Speaker 8: automatically added to your account so you could use it later.
- 7:55Speaker 8: Thank you to sea geek and we'll see you at
- 7:57Speaker 8: the game. I was on plenty of really good teams
- 8:01Speaker 8: and I was never a good player. I always wonder this,
- 8:05Speaker 8: and you're in the middle of it. Do you feel
- 8:07Speaker 8: like your numbers would be different if you guys were
- 8:09Speaker 8: winning more games in the sense of like where the
- 8:12Speaker 8: game's at and like, you know, you guys are in
- 8:15Speaker 8: different positions. Tommy fam talked about it last year about
- 8:17Speaker 8: how they played in really close games so they're facing
- 8:20Speaker 8: the best relievers. You guys were behind you guys are
- 8:23Speaker 8: behind in a decent amount of games, you're facing the
- 8:26Speaker 8: best relievers. Would you have better numbers if the team
- 8:29Speaker 8: you were playing on had more wins?
- 8:33Speaker 5: I don't think so necessarily. I think I think just
- 8:36Speaker 5: the way the way you play the game. I mean,
- 8:38Speaker 5: I think I think right now we're getting a lot
- 8:41Speaker 5: of good relievers. I mean, I think we scored some
- 8:44Speaker 5: of the most runs in the big leagues in the seventh, eighth,
- 8:46Speaker 5: the ninth inning this year. I mean, we've come back
- 8:49Speaker 5: in a lot of ball games, whether we end up
- 8:50Speaker 5: winning those or not. I mean, we're getting getting those
- 8:53Speaker 5: best relievers into the game. And I think I think
- 8:59Speaker 5: with our offense this year, the way the guys that
- 9:01Speaker 5: I have around me, I think it's been has been awesome.
- 9:05Speaker 5: So I think I think right now is it's it's
- 9:08Speaker 5: been a really good season. I don't think necessarily the
- 9:11Speaker 5: wins would affect the numbers.
- 9:14Speaker 6: Honor, what's the difference in the Rockies team this year
- 9:16Speaker 6: compared to last year? You guys are much much improved. Uh,
- 9:21Speaker 6: You're still doing what you're doing. Jake McCarthy's obviously come
- 9:23Speaker 6: over and been great for you guys, But what's the
- 9:25Speaker 6: major difference that you see from where you guys were
- 9:27Speaker 6: last year to where you are this year.
- 9:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I think it it starts to their manager.
- 9:32Speaker 5: I mean the energy and the clubhouse that we have,
- 9:36Speaker 5: the kind of the culture we're trying to build as
- 9:38Speaker 5: far as as far as what we're doing this year,
- 9:41Speaker 5: And it starts with him. I mean, he brings energy
- 9:44Speaker 5: every day. He kind of lets you you be yourself,
- 9:47Speaker 5: You go out there, you play. We got a lot
- 9:49Speaker 5: of young guys that have that have come up this
- 9:51Speaker 5: year and it's like, hey, dude, just go go play
- 9:53Speaker 5: your game, be yourself, don't don't be scared to do anything.
- 9:56Speaker 5: So I think just that type of mentality and to
- 9:59Speaker 5: just go out there and has been a big thing
- 10:02Speaker 5: for us.
- 10:04Speaker 8: All Right, I gotta talk. We hit it a little
- 10:06Speaker 8: bit on the home road splits. Is it at a
- 10:09Speaker 8: point now where you're where it's kind of in your
- 10:11Speaker 8: head or is it something that there's actually a change
- 10:14Speaker 8: because the ball fans don't know the ball travels differently
- 10:18Speaker 8: to the plate than it does on the road.
- 10:23Speaker 5: I don't think it's I don't think it's in my
- 10:24Speaker 5: head yet necessarily. I mean, I definitely have thought about
- 10:28Speaker 5: it a few times. Uh, we've been we've been talking
- 10:30Speaker 5: about it in the cage and in some adjustments I
- 10:33Speaker 5: might can make it home. But yeah, it's different. It's
- 10:37Speaker 5: it's hard. I mean going from Denver, where there's there's
- 10:41Speaker 5: not much air resistance, the ball doesn't really slow down,
- 10:45Speaker 5: so it doesn't move as much. Those breaking balls back
- 10:48Speaker 5: up a little bit. And then you go to on
- 10:51Speaker 5: the road where when you go that first day on
- 10:54Speaker 5: the road after playing six occurs, it's looks sometimes it
- 10:58Speaker 5: looks like guys throwing a wolf of balls. So those
- 11:01Speaker 5: adjustments are are different too. So it's it's just something.
- 11:05Speaker 5: It kind of happened last year the first few months
- 11:07Speaker 5: of the season. My splits were better on the road
- 11:09Speaker 5: and then and then it kind of evened out throughout
- 11:11Speaker 5: the rest of the year. So I'm I'm expected to
- 11:13Speaker 5: even out as the year keeps going.
- 11:17Speaker 8: Well, what about playing in Vegas? You had a pretty
- 11:20Speaker 8: decent series. How was it there compared to Colorado?
- 11:25Speaker 5: Yeah, it was the ball flew I think even better,
- 11:31Speaker 5: to be honest, it was kind of crazy. The ball
- 11:34Speaker 5: flew maybe not better, but it flew just as good
- 11:36Speaker 5: in a smaller ballpark, and and it was uh yeah,
- 11:39Speaker 5: it was kind of crazy the way that that uh,
- 11:42Speaker 5: that series unfolded and and playing there, it was it's
- 11:48Speaker 5: like playing on the moon. I thought, to be honest,
- 11:50Speaker 5: it was. It was crazy.
- 11:53Speaker 6: Big league ballpark, big league team there soon Hunter. Maybe
- 11:57Speaker 6: you know, people say Colorado is good, they want to
- 12:00Speaker 6: have to say when I'm a free agent, mister agent,
- 12:02Speaker 6: I'd like to go to Vegas because I can hit.
- 12:06Speaker 4: It'll be different, though it's not I know, the same
- 12:08Speaker 4: environment in the park they're building.
- 12:11Speaker 3: No, I know, I know, but yes, and it will
- 12:13Speaker 3: still be no human or or no, there will be
- 12:16Speaker 3: a human.
- 12:17Speaker 9: There's a human or there was a human order was
- 12:19Speaker 9: now for this one. Yeah, I'm sure there was.
- 12:20Speaker 6: I'm sure they flew baseballs in from somewhere, like they
- 12:23Speaker 6: dunked them in water or something to see that they
- 12:24Speaker 6: could keep them from going out.
- 12:26Speaker 9: The third game, the third game, the first two, no
- 12:28Speaker 9: third game.
- 12:28Speaker 5: The first two. The first two weren't as crazy. The
- 12:31Speaker 5: third game was. It's pretty nuts. Big game.
- 12:35Speaker 9: Hot.
- 12:37Speaker 4: Hey, I have one more timing schedule for you, like
- 12:40Speaker 4: with the Ulcer game coming up. I mean it's Wednesday, right,
- 12:43Speaker 4: so I'm hoping this show no joke stuff goes viral
- 12:47Speaker 4: in the right way.
- 12:48Speaker 3: People are like, wait, Hunter Goodman.
- 12:50Speaker 4: Top three homers in the league, All Star, he should
- 12:52Speaker 4: get a call like tonight. What's timing for you if
- 12:56Speaker 4: you're participating in the derby?
- 12:57Speaker 3: Right?
- 12:57Speaker 4: Like, have you thought about that at all? I mean,
- 12:59Speaker 4: I'm just gonna say you're going to get the call.
- 13:01Speaker 4: It makes no sense with where we're at. So maybe
- 13:04Speaker 4: they just couldn't find your number for five minutes. But like,
- 13:07Speaker 4: let's say you get the call because we're not going
- 13:08Speaker 4: to have you on again tomorrow. Yeah, how does your
- 13:11Speaker 4: life change over the next few days? Do you actually
- 13:14Speaker 4: maybe do some practice leading up you know, rounds VP?
- 13:16Speaker 4: You got to figure out who's throwing?
- 13:18Speaker 3: Is it dad? What does your schedule look like? How
- 13:21Speaker 3: differently it all start?
- 13:22Speaker 4: Just run us through like what could be happening, because
- 13:24Speaker 4: I'm telling you it's going to happen.
- 13:27Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean scheduling wise. I mean I might, I
- 13:32Speaker 5: might practice one more time before VP or something, but
- 13:38Speaker 5: I'm gonna have my dad through to me because I
- 13:41Speaker 5: mean I felt like I was thinking about it one
- 13:43Speaker 5: night and I was like, you know, if you only
- 13:44Speaker 5: get invited once and I don't ask him, I would
- 13:46Speaker 5: regret it. I mean, I think it'd be a super
- 13:48Speaker 5: cool opportunity for him and me to like share that
- 13:50Speaker 5: moment together. So I think that would be a lot
- 13:53Speaker 5: of fun. But I mean, honestly, it would just probably
- 13:56Speaker 5: be that first day when we get to Philly. What
- 14:01Speaker 5: is it, Tuesday? Monday? Monday will just be more getting
- 14:07Speaker 5: prepared to do that than than anything else versus last
- 14:10Speaker 5: year is kind of like Monday. It was just like
- 14:11Speaker 5: hang out, kind of meet some guys, have fun, enjoy
- 14:15Speaker 5: the derby from the side.
- 14:19Speaker 8: Who's gonna be more Who's gonna be more nervous to
- 14:21Speaker 8: do the derby? You or your dad? And how are
- 14:25Speaker 8: you gonna hit in the twenty.
- 14:27Speaker 5: Uh? I mean, I mean I'm gonna be pretty nervous.
- 14:30Speaker 5: I mean it's hard. I feel like, in a moment
- 14:32Speaker 5: like that, it's hard not to be nervous. And if
- 14:35Speaker 5: I think when I'm when I stop being nervous before
- 14:39Speaker 5: a baseball game, I mean, I think it's time to
- 14:41Speaker 5: getting close to time to hang it up. So I
- 14:44Speaker 5: think nerves are good. I think they kind of get
- 14:45Speaker 5: you going. But I think we'll both be pretty nervous.
- 14:49Speaker 5: I think i'd give him the edge on being a
- 14:51Speaker 5: little more nervous, but I think he's got it.
- 14:54Speaker 9: That's fair, that's fair, that's fair.
- 14:57Speaker 6: But I hope your dad just you only get forty pitches,
- 14:59Speaker 6: so make sure your dad is locked in, make sure
- 15:01Speaker 6: whatever he needs to do, you know, eat those. Yeah,
- 15:03Speaker 6: twenty and strikes because if you're down to your bottle
- 15:06Speaker 6: of things and not a lot of balls. Man, well, dad,
- 15:09Speaker 6: no Father's Day playing for you father. But we did
- 15:13Speaker 6: have this question yesterday though. If you get to asked
- 15:16Speaker 6: and you get in okay, and you win, and you
- 15:19Speaker 6: win a million dollars, what's the caddy fee for your dad?
- 15:22Speaker 6: What besides the trip to to Philly in the whole
- 15:25Speaker 6: nine yards, what's the Do you have to tip the caddy?
- 15:29Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I'll definitely tip the I'll definitely tip the
- 15:31Speaker 5: caddy for sure. I'm not not exactly sure hell yet
- 15:35Speaker 5: if it, I don't know if it'd be just cash
- 15:37Speaker 5: or if I would get him something nice. But I
- 15:40Speaker 5: definitely tipped the caddy for sure. He deserves it.
- 15:44Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, Uncle Sam also is a caddy I understand,
- 15:47Speaker 4: but you Yeah, percent would be nice for the old
- 15:50Speaker 4: DADT like posts ten.
- 15:53Speaker 6: Percent due Hunters make a lot of money off the
- 15:58Speaker 6: top hunter.
- 15:59Speaker 8: Will you fly a PJ and does it make you
- 16:03Speaker 8: really hate commercial once you've flown a PJ.
- 16:09Speaker 5: I'm not one hundred percent sure yet. I don't I
- 16:12Speaker 5: don't know what I'm doing yet. It's gonna depend on
- 16:14Speaker 5: some some things I'm not I'm not the the flight
- 16:17Speaker 5: plans haven't been setting stone yet, so, uh, I don't know.
- 16:22Speaker 5: But no, I mean I don't hate I don't hate
- 16:26Speaker 5: flying commercial. I mean first class is still fine. I
- 16:29Speaker 5: mean you still you still have a good time. I
- 16:32Speaker 5: mean it's not it's not the worst thing in the world.
- 16:36Speaker 6: Yeah, you're gonna take that red Eye from San Francisco,
- 16:38Speaker 6: so you're gonna want the PG.
- 16:39Speaker 9: You ain't gonna want to show up Monday morning. You're
- 16:41Speaker 9: gonna want Luisa Rise is.
- 16:44Speaker 6: Only one giant A s oh sounds right. So you
- 16:49Speaker 6: and a Rise and you guys can talk. He can
- 16:52Speaker 6: talk about singles. You guys can sit there.
- 16:53Speaker 5: And just talk, blending together a little bit.
- 16:58Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly, all right, Before we you go, I need
- 17:00Speaker 6: to know this. You played at Memphis, which is in
- 17:03Speaker 6: uh the American My son plays at UA B catches
- 17:06Speaker 6: at UAB. Was it harder for you to get scouted
- 17:08Speaker 6: at a place like Memphis. Now, I know you had
- 17:10Speaker 6: your freshman year was off the charts, you lost your
- 17:12Speaker 6: sophomore year DAR to COVID basically, and then your junior
- 17:15Speaker 6: year you had an incredible year. Do you think it's
- 17:17Speaker 6: harder for guys at smaller schools like that to get scouted?
- 17:22Speaker 5: I think, I mean, from my perspective, it's kind of
- 17:25Speaker 5: I kind of like think of it like if if
- 17:27Speaker 5: you if you play well, they're gonna they're gonna find you.
- 17:30Speaker 5: I don't I don't think you're gonna get overlooked. As
- 17:32Speaker 5: long as you, uh, I mean, as long as you're
- 17:35Speaker 5: playing well, I think I think they'll find you. I
- 17:38Speaker 5: went to Memphis because I thought I would get the
- 17:41Speaker 5: opportunity to play right away and get some experience my
- 17:44Speaker 5: freshman year, and I feel like it worked out for me.
- 17:46Speaker 5: I think I've had buddies in the past that have
- 17:49Speaker 5: gone to like the bigger schools and stuff like that
- 17:52Speaker 5: and not really gotten the opportunity until later in their
- 17:55Speaker 5: in their college careers. So I felt like I wanted
- 17:58Speaker 5: to play as soon as I got there and get
- 18:00Speaker 5: that experience and worked out.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll say, yeah, have an awesome year.
- 18:08Speaker 4: Man, congratulations on making the All Star Game yet again,
- 18:12Speaker 4: and we will wait for the phone call, but really
- 18:15Speaker 4: appreciate your joining us.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Yeah, check your phone.
- 18:18Speaker 8: Maybe maybe it went to your maybe maybe it was
- 18:20Speaker 8: like a miscall. Man, answer all your spam calls.
- 18:24Speaker 5: Yeah, for sure, Thank you guys for having me.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Thank you, Hunter, appreciate you. We'll see in Philly, all right,
- 18:30Speaker 3: see it.
- 18:31Speaker 9: Hey.

- 19:45Speaker 3: We've talked about All Star happenings.
- 19:48Speaker 4: First off, I'm just so pissed about the Hunter Goodman
- 19:53Speaker 4: not getting a call situation.
- 19:54Speaker 3: I can't get over it, Like.
- 19:56Speaker 9: He's just allowed to announce until like tomorrow.
- 19:58Speaker 4: Like this is now nothing against Jack Aglow and I
- 20:01Speaker 4: think he should be in the derby, but the fact
- 20:03Speaker 4: that he got a phone call before the guy who
- 20:05Speaker 4: ranks third in all of baseball and homers, it's not
- 20:08Speaker 4: just coursefield homers. He's much better on the road as
- 20:11Speaker 4: way more homers on the road. A catcher who's going
- 20:14Speaker 4: to be at the All Star Game can't get a
- 20:16Speaker 4: phone call he wants to participate, There better be a
- 20:19Speaker 4: phone call in the next three hours, or I'm calling
- 20:21Speaker 4: everyone I know and telling them to start a social
- 20:23Speaker 4: media campaign and be like, what's going on.
- 20:25Speaker 8: This is rig Did you hear what AJ just said?
- 20:28Speaker 8: AJ has a conspiracy theory and you just glazed over it.
- 20:32Speaker 3: I don't really listen to him much, but what know.
- 20:35Speaker 6: That he's already he's already been called. He's just not
- 20:37Speaker 6: allowed to announce it.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Now.
- 20:38Speaker 9: I'm doing like one announcement a day.
- 20:40Speaker 3: I don't think I don't think that's true, because.
- 20:41Speaker 6: He's already said he's practiced with his dad, and he
- 20:45Speaker 6: said he's gonna practice again with his dad.
- 20:48Speaker 3: He's an honest man. I really don't think that's the case.
- 20:50Speaker 6: Maybe he's not allowed he signed like an NBA and
- 20:52Speaker 6: he's not allowed to say anything until he announces.
- 20:54Speaker 3: It CIA MLB.
- 20:56Speaker 8: If that's the case, major League Baseball needs to get
- 20:58Speaker 8: over themselves because like that, and please, please don't say anything.
- 21:04Speaker 9: We're trying to really spread this out.
- 21:07Speaker 4: Yes, when you're doing Derby picks, don't you kind of
- 21:11Speaker 4: just start with, oh, hey, who's the top five? A
- 21:15Speaker 4: couple right, who has way more homers than everyone else?
- 21:19Speaker 4: Let's look at the list first. That was a road
- 21:21Speaker 4: sound bite, like who's that talking everyone else? Actually, we
- 21:25Speaker 4: do have someone talking that I want to throw to
- 21:27Speaker 4: this how we're gonna the show.
- 21:29Speaker 7: You know, I feel like that's kind of you know,
- 21:31Speaker 7: I feel like that's kind of a reminder, you know,
- 21:35Speaker 7: for whoever needs to be reminded. So you know, it's
- 21:40Speaker 7: it uh pisses me off, and you know it's it's
- 21:43Speaker 7: kind of ys. So you know, if maybe if I
- 21:48Speaker 7: wasn't necessarily right in there, I wouldn't be saying this.
- 21:51Speaker 7: But I feel like I've earned it. And just because
- 21:54Speaker 7: I pitch on a certain day doesn't I mean, I
- 21:57Speaker 7: get you know, I don't even know the right word,
- 22:01Speaker 7: but just because I pitched on a certain day, you know,
- 22:04Speaker 7: I can't pitch an All Star game or even be
- 22:06Speaker 7: there or get you know, the recognition for it. You know,
- 22:12Speaker 7: they could have did it a few different ways.
- 22:15Speaker 5: Maybe you know, put me in.
- 22:17Speaker 7: Maybe you know I.
- 22:18Speaker 5: Didn't necessarily have to get chosen right away.
- 22:20Speaker 7: But you know, I feel like I was right in there,
- 22:23Speaker 7: So maybe they put me in and thought, IMPI just
- 22:25Speaker 7: shoot me.
- 22:25Speaker 5: Right back out and put somebody else in.
- 22:27Speaker 7: You know, there's certain ways to do it, and you know,
- 22:30Speaker 7: you figured they would have a clue about it by
- 22:32Speaker 7: now how many All Star games they've had. And you know,
- 22:35Speaker 7: I think it's kind of just the BS rule that,
- 22:37Speaker 7: you know, just because I pitch on a certain day,
- 22:38Speaker 7: I you know, get punished for it.
- 22:40Speaker 3: I guess, good for you, Zach.
- 22:43Speaker 4: He absolutely laid it out, Zach Wheeler, not just verbally
- 22:47Speaker 4: after the game, but during the game. That's an extra motivation.
- 22:51Speaker 4: Hey guys, no walks. Fourteen ks, seven innings. They beat
- 22:55Speaker 4: up the Reds and he's pissed.
- 22:57Speaker 9: Should be he deserves nine and one of the.
- 23:02Speaker 3: I mean, what else can you ask for?
- 23:04Speaker 5: Not much.
- 23:06Speaker 3: We mentioned it throughout the show, but that's the actual SoundBite.
- 23:09Speaker 9: Fourteen punches yesterday too.
- 23:10Speaker 4: By the way, he was just dominant. Here's my stuff,
- 23:15Speaker 4: you won't touch it. And he was saying that to
- 23:17Speaker 4: the whole league, not just to the Reds. That that's
- 23:21Speaker 4: got to be annoying. Right, you're deep into your career.
- 23:25Speaker 4: You probably have this circled right a whole game.
- 23:29Speaker 9: Yeah, a team you're playing on, a team you've been
- 23:31Speaker 9: really good for you.
- 23:32Speaker 6: Should they should figure out a way for him, Jim
- 23:34Speaker 6: bowdens such the best they can figure out away Adam
- 23:36Speaker 6: as Adam as an extra.
- 23:38Speaker 9: He's not gonna pitch, fine, just put him there.
- 23:41Speaker 4: But he said he would pitch also, I know, but
- 23:46Speaker 4: also an inning or I mean an inning, I mean
- 23:49Speaker 4: a hitter?
- 23:49Speaker 3: Do you have to is the rule in place for that?
- 23:53Speaker 11: Right?
- 23:53Speaker 3: It's probably not right. I don't remember the three.
- 23:55Speaker 9: Bet three hitters. Here's it's an exhibition, That's what I'm saying.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Just let him go.
- 24:03Speaker 8: Or how about the fact that this guy was rehabbing
- 24:05Speaker 8: from an injury that possibly could have ended his career,
- 24:08Speaker 8: let alone the fact that he was getting blood clots.
- 24:10Speaker 8: So you're talking about like life stuff and then baseball.
- 24:14Speaker 8: So during that rehab time, you don't think one time
- 24:17Speaker 8: Zach Wheeler was like, Gee, what am I gonna get
- 24:20Speaker 8: back for to play a game? Yeah, Like, I don't
- 24:23Speaker 8: see Zach Wheeler as somebody who's like I have to
- 24:26Speaker 8: do this. He just wants to be the best. I'm
- 24:28Speaker 8: sure he was like, Man, how awesome would it be
- 24:30Speaker 8: if I come back and I'm an All Star in Philly?
- 24:33Speaker 8: And then they denied him of this when he's actually
- 24:37Speaker 8: earned it because they have a rule like it's a
- 24:41Speaker 8: big miss by Major League Baseball. And I am totally
- 24:45Speaker 8: on Wheeler's side on.
- 24:46Speaker 3: This one comish pick. Get it done.
- 24:50Speaker 9: He only gets two. He already use him.
- 24:53Speaker 3: It's like challenges.
- 24:54Speaker 6: Yeah, he only gets two per year, and he used
- 24:57Speaker 6: him Verlander and Bryce Harper.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Time to switch the rule. PIFA makes their own rules.
- 25:03Speaker 3: Why can't MLB.
- 25:04Speaker 9: MLB pretty much makes their own rules too. That's right,
- 25:07Speaker 9: they're not corrupt. Watch the documentary on FIFA.
- 25:13Speaker 8: It's pretty awesome, so good, so good, and it's like
- 25:18Speaker 8: and they try to paint it as like they're they're
- 25:21Speaker 8: not corrupt anymore, and they're actually just the same. It's
- 25:25Speaker 8: just different names. Prats hats. I had it on because
- 25:29Speaker 8: I mean, how can you not O'Hearn beat the record
- 25:34Speaker 8: ever most RBIs ever in a game? So I wore
- 25:37Speaker 8: my historic Pirates hat and it didn't work out.
- 25:40Speaker 9: He was he was.
- 25:41Speaker 8: He was kissing babies and signing autographs today, So maybe.
- 25:45Speaker 3: Not ever ever though. I just I think Pirates not
- 25:48Speaker 3: for all.
- 25:49Speaker 9: I'm sorry. I'm in a franchise record franchise records and
- 25:53Speaker 9: named heart hitting. Mark Witten had like thirteen RBIs in
- 25:55Speaker 9: a game or something.
- 25:56Speaker 3: I think the record's twelve or whatever.
- 25:57Speaker 9: He had it. By the way, we have not even
- 26:00Speaker 9: talked about this.
- 26:01Speaker 11: Uh.
- 26:02Speaker 9: Tolbert for the Royals, Oh twelve for twelve by the
- 26:06Speaker 9: way he got twelve bits in a row.
- 26:09Speaker 3: Unreal, twelve hits in a row.
- 26:11Speaker 9: We didn't even mention it. So twelve hits in a row.
- 26:15Speaker 9: That's freaking crazy. Dude still kind of les tomorrow. Oh,
- 26:18Speaker 9: he's in like four to.
- 26:19Speaker 6: Eighty for the season or something crazy because he had
- 26:22Speaker 6: like zero bats and he went twelve for twelve.
- 26:24Speaker 4: Incredible way to put a season together to start. That's
- 26:27Speaker 4: incredible what he's doing.
- 26:29Speaker 8: Twelve for twelve. You can't even go twelve for twelve
- 26:32Speaker 8: and BP every day.
- 26:34Speaker 5: No, twelve for twelve.
- 26:37Speaker 3: See you Thursday. You'll see AJ Monday.
