- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 0:05Speaker 1: next
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Well, TGIF it is
- 0:13Speaker 1: finally the weekends, hoping that you're hanging in there with
- 0:17Speaker 1: your examinations. Oh, today I think it's mathematics, Sonia. And
- 0:21Speaker 1: then you have the weekend to relax and unwind a
- 0:24Speaker 1: little bit. Before it's mother tongue and science. That's right,
- 0:26Speaker 1: stand by. Singapore's number one hit music station.
- 0:32Speaker 1: And I'm, I'm a little concerned to ask Joakim, what
- 0:34Speaker 1: is this math related advice you want to give us. Hey, why?
- 0:39Speaker 1: I mean, it worked for me. OK. I was able
- 0:41Speaker 1: to finish the entire paper, OK, because, firstly, I read
- 0:45Speaker 1: every single question first, and I answered the
- 0:50Speaker 1: The difficult questions first. The difficult questions, the one that
- 0:54Speaker 1: will take more time, the one that you have to
- 0:56Speaker 1: show all your workings and all that, then I'll answer
- 0:59Speaker 1: the questions so I know the answer already straight away
- 1:01Speaker 1: from the back of my mind. That's interesting. I do
- 1:04Speaker 1: it the other way around. So I will clear the
- 1:06Speaker 1: easy questions first because, OK.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Um, even though I might find the questions like easier,
- 1:12Speaker 1: it's also easy to make mistakes, like careless mistakes. So
- 1:16Speaker 1: because I have a history of being very careless, so
- 1:18Speaker 1: I clear the easy ones first, take a look at them. OK,
- 1:21Speaker 1: I know I'm, I locked in, everything's good, 100%, then
- 1:25Speaker 1: I take my time to do the longer ones. And
- 1:27Speaker 1: I feel like when it comes to math, math, it's
- 1:31Speaker 1: also a test in how well you understand. Oh, you
- 1:34Speaker 1: think the phrasing and stuff, the phrasing, sometimes the answers,
- 1:37Speaker 1: they are there already.
- 1:38Speaker 1: True, true. It's just up to you to read it
- 1:40Speaker 1: and really understand the question. Yeah, you know, once again,
- 1:43Speaker 1: I think PSLE was not my best scores, I would say,
- 1:48Speaker 1: but I only locked in like for O levels. I
- 1:50Speaker 1: don't know whether it's because it took me a while
- 1:51Speaker 1: to understand like, oh, you know, this is actually a
- 1:53Speaker 1: big deal. But please write and show your workings clearly.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Don't lose marks over not showing the steps and the workings, please.
- 2:03Speaker 1: But all the best. We, we know you can do it.
- 2:06Speaker 1: You got it. You got it for sure. My advice.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I think it's subjective because I, I already said I'll
- 2:11Speaker 1: do it in the opposite way and showing clearly. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 2:17Speaker 1: checking the question, reading everything, OK, but that one is
- 2:20Speaker 1: common sense lah, so, OK, did you know a know
- 2:24Speaker 1: it all back in school? Oh yes, or even after school,
- 2:29Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Actually different people for different segments of life. OK, OK.
- 2:33Speaker 1: So I was Mr. Know it all for music knowledge. Oh,
- 2:36Speaker 1: you were Mr. Know it all, but not the arrogant kind.
- 2:39Speaker 1: It's the kind where you any question they'll come to
- 2:42Speaker 1: me and ask. OK, so I don't boast it. OK,
- 2:45Speaker 1: but for example, they were like, Hey Joki, who sang
- 2:47Speaker 1: that song Clint Eastwood Grillas.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Oh, OK, OK, OK, so people knew that you're the
- 2:53Speaker 1: go to person for like a pop music trivia part
- 2:57Speaker 1: of Eminem and Dido stand. What did Eminem say? Oh, adrenaline. OK. Now,
- 3:03Speaker 1: now you're, now you're showing off.
- 3:05Speaker 1: No, I'm just recollecting a phrase carefully, you know. That's
- 3:10Speaker 1: how rumors. Yes, flexing this morning. Then in other phases
- 3:15Speaker 1: of life, you have other know it alls. Maybe a
- 3:17Speaker 1: bit of, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, people, you know, start
- 3:20Speaker 1: boasting about their knowledge on the insurance. Oh, you mean
- 3:23Speaker 1: in adult life, life and all that, right? There was,
- 3:27Speaker 1: there was one, dinner that I attended, OK, and this
- 3:30Speaker 1: is in like my adult life right now, like quite recently.
- 3:34Speaker 1: So I was invited to this dinner where I, I
- 3:37Speaker 1: was a bit scratching my head like what I was
- 3:39Speaker 1: doing there, but I just showed up anyway because they're
- 3:41Speaker 1: nice people. But it was with this one very successful
- 3:46Speaker 1: like businesswoman, and she could have, she could have been
- 3:49Speaker 1: my mum, OK, because of her age, like our age gap.
- 3:52Speaker 1: And she's got such intimidating presence that even all the
- 3:57Speaker 1: dudes at the table who are almost around her age,
- 4:01Speaker 1: like let her speak first, right? And at times where
- 4:04Speaker 1: like there's a conversation, I want to try and contribute
- 4:07Speaker 1: to the convo, if not, I'm so quiet, which is
- 4:09Speaker 1: very unlike me. I'll try and then
- 4:11Speaker 1: There's this dude who said, yeah, you know, I don't agree.
- 4:14Speaker 1: I think it's this, and she said, No, I'm right. Wow.
- 4:18Speaker 1: She said, No, I'm right, you're wrong, like straight up.
- 4:20Speaker 1: I'm like, wow, this woman, I want to have her
- 4:23Speaker 1: energy when I'm 70. When you say intimidating presence, yes,
- 4:29Speaker 1: I think of two people. Michelle Obama. No, Michelle Obama.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Very nice. She's got aura, but she's approachable. No, I
- 4:37Speaker 1: think of Michelle Yeoh's character in Crazy Rich Asians, the mom, yes, yes,
- 4:42Speaker 1: Eleanor Young, or the Ama in Crazy Rich Asians. Crazy
- 4:46Speaker 1: Rich Asians when she shows up, everybody, that's my goal.
- 4:51Speaker 1: That's the way people go to greet me. OK, so
- 4:54Speaker 1: you were saying earlier about spoilers.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Yeah, for Avengers Endgame, make sure you avoid them on
- 5:00Speaker 1: social media because they're all over TikTok and Instagram reels
- 5:05Speaker 1: right now. But we go from spoilers to how about
- 5:08Speaker 1: me giving you some spoilers when it comes to Asian
- 5:10Speaker 1: Games and how well our team Singapore athletes have been performing. Look,
- 5:15Speaker 1: I want to address some social media comments before I
- 5:17Speaker 1: get to the results, right?
- 5:19Speaker 1: Um, we are wanting them to make sure they perform
- 5:23Speaker 1: at their absolute best, and some of them are setting
- 5:27Speaker 1: national records. Some of them are running season best timings. Yeah,
- 5:31Speaker 1: doesn't always mean they'll bring home a medal, but as
- 5:34Speaker 1: long as they go there and really push their limits
- 5:36Speaker 1: and show that they are training and whatever, maybe the
- 5:40Speaker 1: government agencies are investing in them are paying off, it's fantastic.
- 5:45Speaker 1: So I want to say congratulations firstly to Vanessa Lee,
- 5:49Speaker 1: lowering her own national record for the 10,000 m event
- 5:54Speaker 1: to 36.95 seconds. That's the time it takes me to complete,
- 6:00Speaker 1: I don't know, 4 km, and some would call her
- 6:02Speaker 1: Vanessa's running twin because they're always seen together, Nicole Low
- 6:06Speaker 1: as well, giving a good seasonal best of 36 minutes,
- 6:09Speaker 1: 48.31 seconds.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Mark Brian Lewis for the 100 m event, season best
- 6:15Speaker 1: of 10.33 seconds. And of course, congrats to Shanti Pereira
- 6:20Speaker 1: and Elizabeth Ann Tan, who actually made the 100 m semifinal.
- 6:25Speaker 1: It's happening Japan time, that means Singapore time 6:13. It's
- 6:29Speaker 1: happening today for the semifinals at 6:13 and the finals,
- 6:34Speaker 1: if they qualify at 9:05 p.m.
- 6:37Speaker 1: And then tomorrow, it's Shanti Pereira's pet event, I dare say,
- 6:41Speaker 1: the 200 m and hopefully she makes the finals, which
- 6:44Speaker 1: is happening on Sunday at 6:35 p.m. Singapore time. Well,
- 6:48Speaker 1: in the meantime, we'll be cheering them on every step
- 6:50Speaker 1: of the way. Um, I, I do agree with you
- 6:53Speaker 1: when you say something about the.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Comments though, because when I was, I went to comment
- 6:57Speaker 1: on the, the Team Singapore post that they put up
- 7:01Speaker 1: about Vanessa. Hello, fellow Puma girly, just that we have
- 7:03Speaker 1: very different skill sets. We bring Vanessa and Sean into
- 7:06Speaker 1: the studio. Can you, can you ask your Puma? I
- 7:09Speaker 1: get my people to reach out to their people. No,
- 7:13Speaker 1: but I was gonna say, um, being an athlete is
- 7:16Speaker 1: so difficult too because the netizens suddenly will become critics
- 7:19Speaker 1: at the same time.
- 7:21Speaker 1: And I saw some comments that I really wanted to like,
- 7:24Speaker 1: I wanted to reply to them, but I didn't. But
- 7:26Speaker 1: these people are saying, oh, so good, then where's the medal? Guys,
- 7:32Speaker 1: why don't you what was the distance? 100 m 1,010,000
- 7:37Speaker 1: m and of course for for for Shantier 200 m. OK, yeah,
- 7:43Speaker 1: I mean, you guys, you know, you want to be experts,
- 7:44Speaker 1: you first.
- 7:46Speaker 1: After all that, can I also give a shout out
- 7:48Speaker 1: to our fellow SEA country, a Thai sprinter by the
- 7:52Speaker 1: name of Puripal Beau Bonson, right? It's always a proud
- 7:56Speaker 1: thing when somebody from Asia is able to run 100
- 7:59Speaker 1: m below 10 seconds. He did it in 9.95, and
- 8:04Speaker 1: that's not his fastest. His fastest is 9.93.
- 8:08Speaker 1: So we're getting that much closer to hopefully one day
- 8:11Speaker 1: an Asian in the Olympics in the Olympics finals winning
- 8:15Speaker 1: a medal for their country in the region of Asia. Yeah, well,
- 8:18Speaker 1: I'm having our fingers crossed, that's for sure. Meantime, before
- 8:21Speaker 1: we hit 7 a.m., we've got a special dedication going
- 8:24Speaker 1: out here. Say hi to Jazza. Mummy Jazza says, hi
- 8:28Speaker 1: Sonia and Joakim.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I want to give some love to my son, Afi
- 8:31Speaker 1: Jazil from Saint Gabriel's Primary, taking his PSLE this year.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Today is math paper, so please, mommy's begging you, don't
- 8:39Speaker 1: be careless, please.
- 8:41Speaker 1: All the best to you and the rest of the Gabrielites.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Love mummy Jazza. I mean that's the ultimate worry for
- 8:48Speaker 1: your math exam, right. That's what my dad told me
- 8:50Speaker 1: all the time as well. Don't be careless. please don't
- 8:53Speaker 1: crash out before you get to school. We know that
- 8:55Speaker 1: your papers are about what, like 8-ish in the morning?
- 8:58Speaker 1: 8:15 a.m. That's one and then two is at 10:30. Yes,
- 9:03Speaker 1: sending you love. Anyway, coming up, um, I just wanted
- 9:06Speaker 1: to share this one because it could be relevant, could
- 9:09Speaker 1: have been relevant to any one of us.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Um, you know, the whole idea of being able to
- 9:15Speaker 1: get into the school and the course of your choice,
- 9:18Speaker 1: or maybe even getting a, a rare chance to, to,
- 9:22Speaker 1: to secure like an MBA, for example, not all of
- 9:25Speaker 1: us are able to do it, OK. In fact, between
- 9:27Speaker 1: the two of us, neither one of us has an MBA.
- 9:30Speaker 1: I mean, if Harvard offers me a, I'm going, but
- 9:34Speaker 1: along with that comes fees as well. Your fees are
- 9:38Speaker 1: not going to be cheap for sure.
- 9:39Speaker 1: So, um, just looking at this case right now, this
- 9:42Speaker 1: Indonesian lady, she's, she's 28, OK. She managed to secure
- 9:47Speaker 1: herself an MBA at SMU. However, it also comes with
- 9:52Speaker 1: a price tag of over $80,000 Singapore dollars. OK? And
- 9:56Speaker 1: um it is, yeah, it is, it is expensive, maybe
- 9:59Speaker 1: not as bad as if you end up going overseas
- 10:01Speaker 1: to like you mentioned, Harvard or something, you gotta pay
- 10:03Speaker 1: for your
- 10:04Speaker 1: You know, boarding and so many other things, the currency
- 10:07Speaker 1: difference as well. Yeah, yeah. So you know it is
- 10:16Speaker 1: an honor to be able to get qualification.
- 10:19Speaker 1: I mean, you have to have the smarts, you also
- 10:22Speaker 1: have to have the determination and the time to do
- 10:25Speaker 1: these things, right? So she so very badly wants to
- 10:28Speaker 1: do this MBA and she wants to accept, um, to
- 10:32Speaker 1: be accepted into the 2027 class, but because of the
- 10:36Speaker 1: steep price tag, she's taken to the internet to crowdfund herself, OK?
- 10:43Speaker 1: And basically, in simpler terms, ask for sponsorship.
- 10:47Speaker 1: OK. What are your thoughts on that? You tell me first,
- 10:50Speaker 1: then I'll tell you what the response from the public.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Willing buyer, willing seller. OK, as simple as that. And look,
- 10:56Speaker 1: having been on Twitch for a couple of years and
- 11:00Speaker 1: very in the know of the live streaming scene, right?
- 11:03Speaker 1: Not so much here in Singapore, but I've seen overseas
- 11:05Speaker 1: streamers and they take advantage of
- 11:09Speaker 1: The people who watch them, and again, really this is
- 11:13Speaker 1: based on my personal observation. It's those really hot and
- 11:17Speaker 1: pretty looking female streamers, right? They will put like a
- 11:20Speaker 1: crowd fund goal to to get maybe say a new
- 11:25Speaker 1: phone or something. They'll put it there and then people
- 11:28Speaker 1: actually donate.
- 11:30Speaker 1: I mean, I wouldn't call it donate because it's not
- 11:32Speaker 1: really a person in need. There will be people who
- 11:34Speaker 1: will be giving money, enabling the behavior willing buyer, willing seller,
- 11:38Speaker 1: and I, I credit this lady for being absolutely smart
- 11:42Speaker 1: by taking advantage of maybe how she looks or or how.
- 11:45Speaker 1: the whole thing. You know what, here's the thing, like
- 11:48Speaker 1: she tried, OK, she tried. slammed. She got slammed, unfortunately.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I mean, OK, reactions were mixed, but it was more
- 11:54Speaker 1: backlash than support, I would say. Let me read out
- 11:58Speaker 1: some of the comments, OK. Begging for an MBA is wild.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Have you ever heard of student loans? Another one comes in.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Have you ever heard of an elevator pitch? Why don't
- 12:09Speaker 1: you work first and save up for your MBA if
- 12:11Speaker 1: it's not important now?
- 12:13Speaker 1: Um, these are some of the, the highlighted comments that
- 12:16Speaker 1: were posted.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Um, because an MBA is like a postgraduate thing, like
- 12:20Speaker 1: you can do it while you're working, so that's what
- 12:22Speaker 1: people do. Um, in fact, I mean, I know of
- 12:24Speaker 1: some people who started working for like 5 to 10
- 12:27Speaker 1: years and then they took their MBA, so maybe that's
- 12:30Speaker 1: something she could consider. I'm guessing, right? If not, why? Yeah,
- 12:32Speaker 1: you see some people, they, they already have the money
- 12:41Speaker 1: they need, but they say, hey, if I can this,
- 12:45Speaker 1: then why waste my money.
- 12:47Speaker 1: So here's, here's my question, OK. It doesn't matter. I mean,
- 12:50Speaker 1: we don't need to know how you got your funding
- 12:52Speaker 1: to go and do certain things or pursue your MBA,
- 12:54Speaker 1: which is very impressive, like we mentioned earlier, but I
- 12:58Speaker 1: wonder now that this has gone public, what does SMU think?
- 13:02Speaker 1: I'm very curious, like the admissions team and all that,
- 13:05Speaker 1: does this affect it at all? I'm very curious to know,
- 13:09Speaker 1: that's all. I don't think they should. Like it doesn't
- 13:12Speaker 1: matter how she got the money. This is the girl's
- 13:15Speaker 1: personal problem and personal issue.
- 13:17Speaker 1: SMU should get involved if somebody on their staff board says, oh,
- 13:21Speaker 1: good money now. OK, never mind, I pay for you first,
- 13:24Speaker 1: you come to our school, OK, which is a crime, yeah,
- 13:27Speaker 1: unless it's like a written contractual agreement that everyone in
- 13:30Speaker 1: SMU is is uh aware about. I don't know about that,
- 13:33Speaker 1: but let's tread carefully on that because I don't know.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I don't want that to be taken out of context.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Isn't that a scholarship? Yeah, yes, yes, yes, but we
- 13:41Speaker 1: don't know how it works.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Works, I guess, especially for this case personal take on
- 13:44Speaker 1: this one. Anyway, um, whatever she's going to be up
- 13:47Speaker 1: to to try and secure her MBA, all the best.
- 13:50Speaker 1: OK lah, I'm gonna open a crowdfunding also crowdfund my
- 13:51Speaker 1: house your house crowdfund my house at the Marina Bay
- 13:57Speaker 1: area more than $82,000 lah. Take advantage. What do I?
- 14:01Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I'm sorry, what do I get in refund
- 14:05Speaker 1: in return?
- 14:07Speaker 1: What do I get? Good question. Remember for me. No thanks.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Can you please donate generously? No, I only donate to
- 14:13Speaker 1: those in need. Can't believe we're coming close to the
- 14:16Speaker 1: end of September right now, but welcome to Friday and
- 14:18Speaker 1: the weekend is finally here. And starting today, yes, if
- 14:22Speaker 1: you have an EV or a PHEV, they want you
- 14:25Speaker 1: to vote over at One Motoring, and please take this seriously.
- 14:30Speaker 1: You are, you are voting for your future and also
- 14:33Speaker 1: your aesthetics for your car.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Because they're giving you three options for potential designs for
- 14:40Speaker 1: differentiated license plates for EVs and PHEVs. Design number 1,
- 14:47Speaker 1: white letters on dark blue background. Design number 2, black
- 14:52Speaker 1: letters on light blue background, and design number 3, black
- 14:58Speaker 1: letters on light green background. OK, let me see the
- 15:04Speaker 1: last two.
- 15:05Speaker 1: The center one. OK. OK, OK, OK. So Sonny Chow
- 15:09Speaker 1: because you drive an EV that's gray in color, gray, OK.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Which one will best fit the gray aesthetic for you?
- 15:19Speaker 1: To be honest, none. OK, if I had to give
- 15:24Speaker 1: to our friends over at LTA if I had to pick, OK,
- 15:28Speaker 1: if I had to pick, actually the blue is quite nice.
- 15:31Speaker 1: It's not exactly blue, it's like teal, you know, it's
- 15:33Speaker 1: in between. Yeah, it's, it's quite nice.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Although I wonder whether the black lettering on that background
- 15:41Speaker 1: you're able to see much of the numbers. Yeah, that's
- 15:44Speaker 1: why I feel, and this is not to sway your
- 15:46Speaker 1: votes or whatsoever. I think majority might go for design
- 15:49Speaker 1: number one. This, this looks neater.
- 15:52Speaker 1: And this looks more obvious with the blue and the white.
- 16:00Speaker 1: EV compulsory? This could be for EVs of the future
- 16:02Speaker 1: when you purchase a new one. So I don't know
- 16:05Speaker 1: whether will there be like a nationwide movement where, OK,
- 16:08Speaker 1: all those who drive EVs go and change your license plate,
- 16:10Speaker 1: we will sponsor that kind of thing.
- 16:12Speaker 1: We'll see, we'll see. Because, you know, OK, um, here's
- 16:15Speaker 1: the thing, right, for some cars, especially like your fancier EVs,
- 16:22Speaker 1: a lot of people really value the aesthetic side of it,
- 16:25Speaker 1: you know, and I've seen people select like different types
- 16:28Speaker 1: of plates just for that, right?
- 16:31Speaker 1: Like sometimes you see the yellow, you know, the yellow plate? Yeah, yeah.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I mean, it doesn't necessarily mean anything, it's just aesthetics.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Maybe like a, like a Porsche, for example. I don't
- 16:46Speaker 1: know if I can imagine a Porsche EV, I'm not sure.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I'm just saying that that's just my point of view.
- 16:54Speaker 1: And to our friends over at LTA and SCDF, look, we,
- 16:57Speaker 1: we know lah. It's, it's very tough to make everyone happy,
- 17:02Speaker 1: when it comes to the designs for the number plates
- 17:05Speaker 1: when it comes to the EVs and PHEVs. So thank
- 17:07Speaker 1: you for doing what you do. We know it's not easy.
- 17:10Speaker 1: So if you wanna let your voice be heard, log
- 17:13Speaker 1: on to one motoring. I think it starts today.
- 17:16Speaker 1: All the way to October 9th. So did they do this?
- 17:20Speaker 1: It's just easily identify EVs or what? Identify EVs and
- 17:25Speaker 1: make it more obvious. So at least we know this
- 17:28Speaker 1: is this is a fuel. There you go. Oh, but
- 17:32Speaker 1: why are people parking in the EVs and not being
- 17:37Speaker 1: honest about it or?
- 17:39Speaker 1: Do they just want to encourage more EVs? I'm not sure.
- 17:46Speaker 1: I is there a goal here?
- 17:47Speaker 1: Identify any, I don't know, OK, for example, there's a
- 17:50Speaker 1: potential hazard, and if the car were to choi choi
- 17:54Speaker 1: touch catch fire whatsoever, I think one look at the
- 17:57Speaker 1: license plate, if they can still see it, they know, OK,
- 17:59Speaker 1: EV then they have the proper equipment to I settle
- 18:01Speaker 1: the issue.
- 18:02Speaker 1: OK, right, maybe this was addressed previously. So maybe, maybe
- 18:05Speaker 1: how you tackle issues from an EV and a petrol
- 18:08Speaker 1: car could be different, yeah, I suppose so. OK, that
- 18:11Speaker 1: could be one of the reasons. I don't know why
- 18:13Speaker 1: when you say blingy, right, I think of bananas Yi
- 18:18Speaker 1: because it rhymes with her name. That's a username and
- 18:21Speaker 1: congrats to her, by the way. Oh, she's expecting. She's having.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Yeah, she is having a baby. Oh my gosh, I
- 18:27Speaker 1: see all these like.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Creators that we watched kind of like, you know, growing
- 18:32Speaker 1: up in this industry. OK, I wouldn't say growing up lah,
- 18:34Speaker 1: but we, we grew along with them, I would say
- 18:37Speaker 1: in that era of like discovering YouTube and all that, right?
- 18:39Speaker 1: So I think this year is a big year for
- 18:41Speaker 1: pregnancy announcements from media personalities. We've got, we got John
- 18:45Speaker 1: and Pat as well, John of Daily Catchup, and congrats
- 18:49Speaker 1: to Nick and Hong Ling. Yeah, so many people are
- 18:52Speaker 1: expecting children. Don't look at me like that, Joe. Don't
- 18:56Speaker 1: look at me like that. Come on.
- 18:58Speaker 1: What, what, what is up with everyone asking me? I
- 19:00Speaker 1: just got married like a few months ago. What are
- 19:03Speaker 1: you talking about? Yes, are you ready to find a
- 19:15Speaker 1: partner and settle down?
- 19:17Speaker 1: you ask me, I ask you back, OK. On that note, yes,
- 19:20Speaker 1: I've been looking again if there's any updates, you'll be
- 19:24Speaker 1: the first to find out here on 987. God send
- 19:27Speaker 1: a sign or something, you know.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Every Sunday I go to church, sometimes I will ask God,
- 19:35Speaker 1: I'm like, it's so sweet. Any, any chance up there?
- 19:38Speaker 1: You actually pray for me to be attached to find
- 19:42Speaker 1: someone good for you. You're kidding. No, I'm not kidding.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Sometimes it pop to my mind, then when it does,
- 19:47Speaker 1: I'll be like, OK, by the way, God.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Like if there's any nice girls out there, please send
- 19:51Speaker 1: it to Joakim's doorstep. If you've been praying if you've
- 19:55Speaker 1: been praying for the last 6 years, I think stop
- 19:57Speaker 1: praying don't waste time. OK, so, um, about to open
- 20:00Speaker 1: up phone lines in just a little while, 669-11987.
- 20:05Speaker 1: I think you're, you might absolutely laugh at me for this.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Do you want me to tell you the story now? Yeah,
- 20:11Speaker 1: it's in your contract, right, with MediaCorp. I mean to
- 20:13Speaker 1: just laugh at me daily. Yours is a sitcom. Oh,
- 20:19Speaker 1: thank you. Thank you, thank you. Someone should adapt it
- 20:21Speaker 1: into an actual sitcom. Maybe we can earn some money.
- 20:25Speaker 1: The life of Sonia. OK, can I, can I tell
- 20:28Speaker 1: you what happened just yesterday that made me come to
- 20:30Speaker 1: a realization, OK? And I would love to open up
- 20:33Speaker 1: phone lines for this OK, in a few minutes. We
- 20:36Speaker 1: have time. You can give us the director's version. OK,
- 20:39Speaker 1: I'll give you, I'll give you a not so quick summary.
- 20:42Speaker 1: So my podcast is on. Let's go. My favorite show
- 20:44Speaker 1: is on. OK. So you know, I've been picking up
- 20:47Speaker 1: Palle for in the recent months, right? And I think
- 20:50Speaker 1: it's been
- 20:51Speaker 1: It's been some time since I properly played because I
- 20:55Speaker 1: injured my ankle, if you remember, about a month ago.
- 20:57Speaker 1: So I was told, you know, the doctor just let
- 21:00Speaker 1: it be for a couple of weeks and then
- 21:02Speaker 1: Check it out again. If it's still swollen or it's
- 21:04Speaker 1: still looking bad, you know, you might want to lay
- 21:07Speaker 1: off it for like before you carry on your story,
- 21:09Speaker 1: if you're in the car right now, if you're tuned
- 21:11Speaker 1: in to us wherever you are here in Singapore or overseas,
- 21:14Speaker 1: if you're rolling your eyeing pedal just like any other influencer, no,
- 21:19Speaker 1: let me, let me vouch, let me vouch for Sonia.
- 21:23Speaker 1: She plays it. She doesn't necessarily post about it every day.
- 21:26Speaker 1: I don't and she and Jeremy actually make a very
- 21:28Speaker 1: good team. So well done. We only make a good
- 21:31Speaker 1: team now because I'm a bit better and we don't
- 21:33Speaker 1: get angry with each other it's not paddle. You are
- 21:36Speaker 1: actually playing paddle. Well done. OK, thank you. I didn't,
- 21:38Speaker 1: I didn't actually ask to say that, but it's fine. Anyway,
- 21:41Speaker 1: the point was yesterday I was in a, in a game.
- 21:45Speaker 1: And it was one of those, it was like an
- 21:46Speaker 1: event in some ways. Um, but at the same time,
- 21:49Speaker 1: there were a lot of very good players there. In fact,
- 21:51Speaker 1: most of them were like coaches, for example, OK. So
- 21:54Speaker 1: they were there to also like just help you out
- 21:56Speaker 1: a little bit, you know, make the whole experience quite fun.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Then if you do need people to stand in, because
- 22:00Speaker 1: there's not always 4 people at any one time, they will,
- 22:03Speaker 1: they will hop in as well. So I said, OK, OK,
- 22:05Speaker 1: we do that.
- 22:06Speaker 1: So we played, right? And you know, every time in
- 22:09Speaker 1: our friendly games with our friends where we do a
- 22:11Speaker 1: good shot, we will sort of like tap each other's
- 22:14Speaker 1: rackets very lightly. Just, it's like a high five in
- 22:17Speaker 1: a way. Yeah, it's like clinking of glasses. I don't
- 22:20Speaker 1: know who started it. I don't know whether it's actually
- 22:22Speaker 1: even a thing like overseas or is it just here,
- 22:24Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Um, but I just follow along because I'm a beginner. Like,
- 22:28Speaker 1: you know, I I don't, don't know what is the
- 22:30Speaker 1: etiquette when it comes to racket sports. What's the famous Romans, right? Yes.
- 22:36Speaker 1: And I mean, OK, so I played with, um, one
- 22:39Speaker 1: of my friends who's a really good squash player, and
- 22:42Speaker 1: she also tapped the racket. So I was like, OK, she,
- 22:44Speaker 1: I mean, she must know racket etiquette, right? etiquette.
- 22:48Speaker 1: So then I played with these, you know, professionals, and
- 22:51Speaker 1: um when we had a good shot, I was like, yeah,
- 22:53Speaker 1: then I, I, I went forward to tap the record.
- 22:56Speaker 1: They didn't tap my record. I felt so rejected. Instead,
- 22:59Speaker 1: he offered a high five. Can I, can I guess why?
- 23:02Speaker 1: So I, I can guess why. I'm guessing that maybe
- 23:04Speaker 1: his record is very expensive. Yeah, yeah. Not saying that
- 23:08Speaker 1: my record is not good. I mean, it's a beginner
- 23:11Speaker 1: and I treasure it.
- 23:13Speaker 1: But maybe I might be a little bit rougher with
- 23:15Speaker 1: it compared to these pros who must have invested maybe
- 23:18Speaker 1: even a few $1000 in their equipment. So then, yeah,
- 23:22Speaker 1: so no, I only just realized that because I've never
- 23:25Speaker 1: played with like people of pro level, right? And they were,
- 23:28Speaker 1: they were going very easy on me, obviously. So I
- 23:31Speaker 1: texted the group chat and I said, guys, I think
- 23:32Speaker 1: we should stop, um, tapping the record because it makes
- 23:35Speaker 1: us look like noobs, you know. Clearly, I was pretending
- 23:39Speaker 1: like I knew what I was doing.
- 23:41Speaker 1: So in just a few minutes, we're gonna open up
- 23:43Speaker 1: the phone lines after 8, OK? Here's a question for you.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you're
- 23:48Speaker 1: just pretending like you know what's happening and you know
- 23:52Speaker 1: what's going on, you actually have no idea at every event.
- 23:57Speaker 1: OK, I can't wait to open up phone lines for
- 23:58Speaker 1: this in just a little bit. All right. So earlier on,
- 24:01Speaker 1: I was sharing with Joe about my experiences yesterday at
- 24:05Speaker 1: a paddle game with a bunch of pros, OK, because
- 24:08Speaker 1: they're coaches and all. And when, you know, usually when
- 24:11Speaker 1: you get a good shot in my friend group, we
- 24:14Speaker 1: will just tap our racket.
- 24:15Speaker 1: But somehow, when I was at the game yesterday and
- 24:18Speaker 1: I offered to tap my record, they they, they rejected
- 24:21Speaker 1: me and offered a high five instead, to which it
- 24:23Speaker 1: got me thinking, oh, maybe they don't want to damage
- 24:25Speaker 1: their record because they're pro level. So I texted my
- 24:28Speaker 1: friend group immediately saying, guys, I think we should stop
- 24:30Speaker 1: tapping our record because it just shows that we're noobs.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Like we're beginners, um, and it just got me thinking
- 24:36Speaker 1: about this question. Have you ever, in any phase of
- 24:39Speaker 1: your life, be it in school, at home, at work,
- 24:42Speaker 1: have you ever pretended like you knew what was going on,
- 24:45Speaker 1: but actually you got no idea? I think Sonia knows
- 24:48Speaker 1: this about me, um, and I don't mind sharing it
- 24:51Speaker 1: publicly on air, OK? Go ahead. This is me at
- 24:54Speaker 1: every single food tasting.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Or wine wine related. You know this yeah yeah you
- 25:00Speaker 1: know this. OK. So earlier in our career, you know,
- 25:03Speaker 1: as two young 987 DJs, yeah, we always get invited
- 25:07Speaker 1: to these things and we will go to network, to
- 25:10Speaker 1: meet other people, to meet clients and to also try
- 25:12Speaker 1: some of the food and then we talk about it
- 25:13Speaker 1: on air we did we did a YouTube series for
- 25:15Speaker 1: a while actually. Yeah, I I I I didn't know
- 25:17Speaker 1: what I was doing.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Do you still remember an example like of a particular restaurant?
- 25:23Speaker 1: I mean, our very first restaurant that we went to,
- 25:26Speaker 1: which is no longer there already, uh, they, they served
- 25:31Speaker 1: us some duck pasta and all that, and the chef, yeah,
- 25:35Speaker 1: duck ragu or something, and, and the founder of the
- 25:38Speaker 1: place was explaining to us every single thing or what
- 25:41Speaker 1: he put in and all, and I was just nodding.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I, I, nothing was going in and that's why
- 25:47Speaker 1: if you can find the episode on 987's YouTube, I
- 25:50Speaker 1: don't even know if it exists anymore. Sonia is yapping.
- 25:53Speaker 1: I'm just like, yeah, I agree. It's very good. Yeah,
- 25:55Speaker 1: it tastes very good in my mouth. Yeah, can I
- 25:58Speaker 1: tell you something, Joe? I was making things up as
- 26:01Speaker 1: I went along. I dude, we were too young. Yeah,
- 26:05Speaker 1: I was still a student. Like, did I know what
- 26:08Speaker 1: I was saying.
- 26:09Speaker 1: And it was at that moment I realized, look, I'd
- 26:11Speaker 1: rather pay for my own food. If it's a new restaurant, yeah,
- 26:14Speaker 1: I'll go myself as a paying customer. I, I don't
- 26:16Speaker 1: need all these food tastings. You tell me that you
- 26:19Speaker 1: put the, the garnishing or the olive or some special
- 26:24Speaker 1: chicken that's been marinated for 2 hours. No need. It's OK.
- 26:27Speaker 1: I think nothing has changed for you since then. He's
- 26:29Speaker 1: still just as clueless. I just want to eat. Yeah, OK.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Just give him pasta mayorin Tai Fong. He's good.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Am I wrong? Am I wrong? Can I, can I
- 26:37Speaker 1: say something? If you serve to me pasta mania and
- 26:41Speaker 1: you put it in very gourmet style plated it and
- 26:43Speaker 1: you told me that it's some Michelin star winning Italian
- 26:46Speaker 1: chef that prepared it, oh dear, I might believe you,
- 26:50Speaker 1: you know. OK, OK, OK, noted, not at this area,
- 26:54Speaker 1: I might be scammed.
- 26:56Speaker 1: And for example, if you go to 7-Eleven and you
- 26:59Speaker 1: buy the cheapest bottle of wine and you pour it
- 27:01Speaker 1: and you tell me there's some vintage winery in France
- 27:05Speaker 1: or Italy.
- 27:06Speaker 1: I'll believe you. What, what do you think I've been
- 27:08Speaker 1: serving you all this time? Thank you. Yes. What do
- 27:10Speaker 1: you think I've been ordering at our dinners? Recycle the
- 27:13Speaker 1: bottle and you change you can pour the cheap one inside.
- 27:16Speaker 1: I'm not, I'm not that much of a scammer. OK.
- 27:20Speaker 1: So yes, so for me it's every single food tasting
- 27:23Speaker 1: that I go to in the past at least. I
- 27:25Speaker 1: was just nodding like I understand like, yeah, I wouldn't
- 27:27Speaker 1: know how you prepare the Oaka fish. OK, OK, OK.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Here's the thing, um, Joe, right?
- 27:33Speaker 1: Um, I've had enough meals with you to know this
- 27:35Speaker 1: also about you, and I, I mean, there's, honestly, I
- 27:38Speaker 1: don't think there's anything wrong with it. But recently, um,
- 27:42Speaker 1: when we went to eat at, well, you did bring
- 27:44Speaker 1: us to Oakai at the end of the year last year, um,
- 27:48Speaker 1: I think Joe like describes the dish or the meal
- 27:53Speaker 1: in two words, good not or not so good. These
- 27:57Speaker 1: are the two phrases, that's it.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Goodnight. And then he just nods.
- 28:03Speaker 1: And he's like, oh, I'm just appreciating the finer things
- 28:07Speaker 1: in life. No, you know what, we are not food critics.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Neither one of us are food critics and that was
- 28:13Speaker 1: just something that we did in the past. And that's
- 28:16Speaker 1: why whenever I read reviews from not a reviewer.
- 28:20Speaker 1: From your everyday influencers, I'm like, do you really know
- 28:23Speaker 1: what you're talking about, but OK, who am I to judge? Well,
- 28:26Speaker 1: we did that and er there's nothing to help us
- 28:33Speaker 1: except our brains. It's. Oh, OK. Did you just Google
- 28:36Speaker 1: that now?
- 28:38Speaker 1: Give us a call 669-119987 or drop us a WhatsApp message, 90050987,
- 28:44Speaker 1: based on both of our experiences, OK? Have you ever
- 28:47Speaker 1: found yourself in a situation, be it at school, at
- 28:49Speaker 1: home or at work, where you were simply pretending like
- 28:52Speaker 1: you knew what was going on, but
- 28:54Speaker 1: In fact, you're quite clueless. This could have happened to
- 28:57Speaker 1: anyone at the workplace. OK, so we are going down
- 29:01Speaker 1: to our messages right now. Actually, we're getting quite a
- 29:02Speaker 1: number of stories here this morning about the times where
- 29:05Speaker 1: you just pretended like you knew what was going on,
- 29:09Speaker 1: but in actual fact, you had no idea.
- 29:12Speaker 1: In other words, in, in every phase of my life,
- 29:14Speaker 1: in school, I've pretended many times that I knew what
- 29:16Speaker 1: was going on in class, um, at work, sometimes, you know,
- 29:19Speaker 1: it's just going by you and you have no idea
- 29:22Speaker 1: what people are saying and it happens. I confess that's tasting,
- 29:26Speaker 1: wine tasting, even a perfume event. I've never seen you
- 29:31Speaker 1: at a perfume event. There was one, maybe once, once, sorry,
- 29:34Speaker 1: the one that we were together, right? So they were
- 29:36Speaker 1: explaining the fragrance and they were saying.
- 29:38Speaker 1: The names of all these flowers where I'm like, what
- 29:41Speaker 1: flower is that again? Oh, OK. It's just like when
- 29:43Speaker 1: you throw different types of colors to joke, you know, like,
- 29:47Speaker 1: he will, he will get lost. Thankfully my poker face
- 29:50Speaker 1: is still OK in the pictures that came out. It's OK.
- 29:52Speaker 1: It was quite dark. It's fine. Stop it. Want to
- 29:54Speaker 1: say hello to Chong, who says, hey guys, like what
- 29:57Speaker 1: Taylor Swift says, and I can do it with a
- 29:59Speaker 1: broken heart. They said, Babe, you got to fake it
- 30:02Speaker 1: till you make it, and I did all the time.
- 30:05Speaker 1: I'm at work as a sales leader, you need to
- 30:07Speaker 1: know it all, or else how to look like you
- 30:09Speaker 1: lead your team. You have to be convincing and you
- 30:11Speaker 1: have to be confident, right? So even if you're not sure,
- 30:14Speaker 1: just find out later, but just act confident first. And
- 30:17Speaker 1: Candace is saying something you might be able to relate to, Sonia.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Those times when I watched the World Cup or any
- 30:23Speaker 1: football matches with my friends at sports bars, I don't
- 30:26Speaker 1: know what was going on. They cheered. I cheered. They
- 30:28Speaker 1: made a disappointing, oh, I also went, oh.
- 30:32Speaker 1: I still don't know what offside is and why people
- 30:34Speaker 1: get angry. I was really just there for the vibes
- 30:36Speaker 1: and beers. Hey, me too. Candice, you and I can
- 30:39Speaker 1: hang out 100%. OK, offside means um when you kick
- 30:45Speaker 1: from an area that's outside.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Of the field of the line outside of the line,
- 30:50Speaker 1: just read the text for us please. So what's offside?
- 30:53Speaker 1: I'll tell you later off air. It's OK. It's a
- 30:54Speaker 1: bit too complicated to explain on air. Come on, complicated.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Offside is, is, for example, if I'm attacking the goal, right,
- 31:03Speaker 1: but I'm already, I'm already behind the defenders in their
- 31:06Speaker 1: half before the ball gets played to me. I got lost.
- 31:11Speaker 1: I just 5 seconds.
- 31:14Speaker 1: It's the 5 seconds I'll never get back. It's OK.
- 31:17Speaker 1: I love triggering Joakim in the morning. It's one of
- 31:19Speaker 1: my favorite hobbies. I fell for that trap, you know.
- 31:22Speaker 1: You know, I tuned out one second in, right? to
- 31:25Speaker 1: explain it to you.
- 31:26Speaker 1: And I still didn't listen. OK. Um, actually, I want
- 31:29Speaker 1: to say hi over here to um Jack who said,
- 31:32Speaker 1: I've been playing tennis for a long time.
- 31:34Speaker 1: The correct way to tap your racket is not frame
- 31:36Speaker 1: to frame. It should be framed to string tap. Like,
- 31:39Speaker 1: you know, the, the bit of strings on your racket.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Hold on, hold on. So wait, let me, let me
- 31:45Speaker 1: finish first. To elaborate, the one who offers the tap
- 31:48Speaker 1: should open one's string bed, so the string portion of
- 31:52Speaker 1: the racket. The recipient should just gently use the frame
- 31:55Speaker 1: to tap on the string bed of another's racket. So
- 31:57Speaker 1: just avoid the frame to frame. However, OK, I
- 32:01Speaker 1: I'm familiar with that, yes. I tried tennis a few times,
- 32:04Speaker 1: but for the paddle racket is different. It looks different
- 32:06Speaker 1: as well. If you just take a look at it.
- 32:09Speaker 1: It doesn't have strings or uh like a bit of strings,
- 32:11Speaker 1: it doesn't. It's just, it looks like um like a
- 32:15Speaker 1: racket made out of cork, I would say.
- 32:18Speaker 1: That's cod and then there's a lot of holes. So
- 32:20Speaker 1: the whole thing kind of looks the same. There's no
- 32:22Speaker 1: like strings or anything. So in that case, that's the
- 32:25Speaker 1: reason why I think they just don't tap the racket period.
- 32:28Speaker 1: They just don't, don't tap it. On that note, the
- 32:31Speaker 1: Singapore this weekend.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Yeah, so yeah, that's what, that's what he's saying. So, sorry,
- 32:37Speaker 1: just to clarify, Jack, um, you know, the peddle racket
- 32:40Speaker 1: looks a bit different, so I wonder whether there's any
- 32:42Speaker 1: difference there too. So maybe if you're there, or if
- 32:47Speaker 1: there's event, they offer a frame to string.
- 32:51Speaker 1: I guess you only do it for, yeah, doubles, so yeah, OK,
- 32:54Speaker 1: it's OK. We've got plenty of messages coming through before
- 32:56Speaker 1: we get to your, your phone calls. OK, say hello
- 32:59Speaker 1: to anonymous texter. Morning, so. I think better I stay
- 33:03Speaker 1: anonymous for this one. OK. At work there are times
- 33:07Speaker 1: whereby my boss will ask me to do a certain
- 33:09Speaker 1: thing or to come up with a certain process or
- 33:12Speaker 1: anything like that. I can go, yes, yes, can, can,
- 33:16Speaker 1: no problem. But actually after that I went to go
- 33:18Speaker 1: and check GPT for a solution.
- 33:21Speaker 1: So just give this, just give assurance first. This guy,
- 33:26Speaker 1: this guy really? I mean, look, with AI now, you
- 33:30Speaker 1: have no excuse not to know what's going on, I
- 33:32Speaker 1: guess in a way, right? Just be careful how you
- 33:34Speaker 1: use it, OK? Yeah, because AI can make mistakes too, yeah.
- 33:37Speaker 1: I wanna say good morning to Ken. Ken says, this
- 33:41Speaker 1: is me at every meeting labeled strategic planning. Oh no.
- 33:47Speaker 1: I can only imagine.
- 33:50Speaker 1: One more as well coming in from, I think your
- 33:54Speaker 1: name is it anonymous be careful, yeah, anonymous, anonymous. OK. Morning,
- 33:58Speaker 1: Sonia and Joakim. This is me every time I go
- 34:00Speaker 1: to the gym, especially active SG gyms, pretending to warm up,
- 34:04Speaker 1: which I have no idea if I'm doing it right.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Then quickly go to the next available machine so that
- 34:08Speaker 1: I don't look lost. After a while I went home.
- 34:11Speaker 1: Oh, no. I mean, look, sometimes it can be quite complicated. Actually,
- 34:16Speaker 1: you know, going to the gym, especially if you're a
- 34:19Speaker 1: first time, it can be quite intimidating. You might want
- 34:21Speaker 1: like someone to guide you for the first couple of times,
- 34:24Speaker 1: then you can go on your own. Yeah, exactly. Anyway,
- 34:26Speaker 1: back to the topic of the day. Have you ever
- 34:28Speaker 1: at any point in your life, you had no idea
- 34:31Speaker 1: what was going on, but you just pretended?
- 34:33Speaker 1: You tried your best to survive. We have a confession
- 34:36Speaker 1: on WhatsApp, Sonia. Here we go. Is it anonymous? Yes, morning,
- 34:39Speaker 1: Sonia and Joki. Please don't name me. I've been in
- 34:42Speaker 1: the F&B trade for more than 20 years. I started
- 34:46Speaker 1: as a hawker in my family business, then to cafes,
- 34:50Speaker 1: bistro bars, buffet, restaurants, from service crew to multiple outlets manager,
- 34:56Speaker 1: but there is one area in F&B I was missing.
- 34:59Speaker 1: It's like infinity stones, you know, fine dining. Last month,
- 35:04Speaker 1: I smoked screened my way through a job interview, and
- 35:09Speaker 1: now I'm in a hotel restaurant in fine dining. My
- 35:13Speaker 1: first task was to learn the menu. To me, all
- 35:16Speaker 1: these fancy words on the menu are so alien to me.
- 35:19Speaker 1: I spent two weeks of my own time after work
- 35:22Speaker 1: to Google and understand the menu. Guess what? On the
- 35:24Speaker 1: 4th week they changed menu.
- 35:30Speaker 1: I feel your pain. Honestly, sometimes when I look at
- 35:34Speaker 1: some menus, if there's no description, I'll be just as clueless.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Come on. So if you work at a fine dining
- 35:40Speaker 1: restaurant on behalf of everybody who feels the same way
- 35:42Speaker 1: I do, thank you very much for understanding the menu
- 35:45Speaker 1: and doing a good job to explain it to commoners
- 35:48Speaker 1: because you put the menu in French, there's no English translation, Gigi,
- 35:53Speaker 1: I mean if you are.
- 35:54Speaker 1: At a level where you're really at like a Michelin
- 35:56Speaker 1: star restaurant, they will come out and explain it to you.
- 35:58Speaker 1: So I wouldn't be too worried about that. But still,
- 36:01Speaker 1: the staff that do that, they have to do a
- 36:03Speaker 1: lot of research. They have to be very prepared for
- 36:05Speaker 1: any sort of questions, you know, like what's in the dressing,
- 36:08Speaker 1: what's in the sauce? Like you need to know like,
- 36:10Speaker 1: I'm sure I'm butchering it, buffet beef boon, beef, I'm
- 36:14Speaker 1: in trouble. I know, I think you just put three
- 36:17Speaker 1: dishes together, you see. I think, I think based on
- 36:21Speaker 1: what gibberish you was saying.
- 36:25Speaker 1: We have Jerome on the line right now. Jerome, uh,
- 36:28Speaker 1: tell us what, what was the moment where you pretended
- 36:31Speaker 1: like you knew what was happening? No, I say, you know,
- 36:35Speaker 1: can you go to the supermarket to get something and
- 36:38Speaker 1: I was doing something and then I'll be like, OK, sure,
- 36:41Speaker 1: I'll get it. But when, but when I get back
- 36:43Speaker 1: home and pass it.
- 36:44Speaker 1: So she would be like, why did you get the
- 36:45Speaker 1: wrong item? I'll just go like, I thought you said that. Well,
- 36:50Speaker 1: there I just get get get pass with it and
- 36:52Speaker 1: I'll just quickly get out of the house to do
- 36:53Speaker 1: other stuff. Jerome throws the smoke screen and walks away.
- 36:59Speaker 1: He just, he faded out. He faded out.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Wait, so how many times has this happened already that
- 37:05Speaker 1: you weren't exactly listening and you got the wrong items,
- 37:09Speaker 1: and she still trusts you. Once in a while you can.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Only once in a while in a while, you know,
- 37:17Speaker 1: you can't play this often. Yeah, yeah. You have to
- 37:19Speaker 1: be alert the rest of the time. 80%. Yeah. Jerome,
- 37:23Speaker 1: thank you so much for your call and hopefully you
- 37:25Speaker 1: buy the right things.
- 37:26Speaker 1: At the supermarket this weekend. Take care, Jerome. So, last
- 37:30Speaker 1: couple of texts and our final caller of the day.
- 37:34Speaker 1: We got one coming in from Sylvest. Yes, the question is,
- 37:37Speaker 1: have you ever found yourself in a situation where you
- 37:39Speaker 1: had no clue what was going on, you're simply pretending
- 37:42Speaker 1: to know. And I relate to this text message 100%.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Hey guys, two words, wine tasting.
- 37:51Speaker 1: I used to be clueless too. Every time I swirl wine,
- 37:55Speaker 1: I just pretend I know what's going on, especially when
- 37:58Speaker 1: I smell it. I just pretend I can smell certain
- 38:00Speaker 1: flowers or ingredients within the wine and go like very
- 38:03Speaker 1: familiar for someone else to smell it and identify because
- 38:06Speaker 1: I don't know Jack. Let me give you a tip here, OK.
- 38:11Speaker 1: I'm no professional, honestly, and I used to be just
- 38:13Speaker 1: as lost, but because of certain like work settings or
- 38:16Speaker 1: like social settings, I tried to pick it up a
- 38:18Speaker 1: little bit. But prior to me knowing more, right, I
- 38:20Speaker 1: used to swirl and then I'll, you know, do a
- 38:23Speaker 1: sniff and you're supposed to like really breathe it in, right,
- 38:27Speaker 1: and see if you can recognize some of the notes.
- 38:30Speaker 1: My first words would be, it's very elegant.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Try it, try it. Seriously, it works. So elegant. The
- 38:39Speaker 1: next time at a social event when Sonia says very elegant,
- 38:43Speaker 1: if you hear laughter, it's me. I don't say it
- 38:46Speaker 1: much anymore. That was my crutch last time. Wasn't there
- 38:48Speaker 1: a Skills Future credit you could use to go and wine? Uh,
- 38:52Speaker 1: you can get your WSET with Skills Future apparently. Yeah,
- 38:56Speaker 1: but I don't know whether it's.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Still happening now. Maybe I should go and do this. Yeah,
- 39:00Speaker 1: because I think there's a bit of a debate over
- 39:01Speaker 1: whether that should be considered a skill. But at least
- 39:04Speaker 1: over the last decade or so of drinking wine, I've
- 39:06Speaker 1: discovered my favorites, Pinot Noir and Malbec wine. Malbec, that's it.
- 39:13Speaker 1: Pinot Noir, the most generic ones, which is fine. I
- 39:17Speaker 1: like Pinot Malbec. Yeah, OK, see, the only one that
- 39:20Speaker 1: he ever, I tell you, I know.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Ugly Olio from Pasta Mia and Annie Malbec from supermarket.
- 39:27Speaker 1: That's a, that's a.
- 39:30Speaker 1: We got A who sent us a voice note. So
- 39:32Speaker 1: what happened?
- 39:33Speaker 2: Hey, morning soldier. Um, I'm a Grab driver. I don't
- 39:36Speaker 2: pretend anything. All conversations are just on and off. I
- 39:39Speaker 2: picked up this Machi. She pretended that I know her
- 39:42Speaker 2: whole family. I don't know why. So when she came
- 39:44Speaker 2: in and then she wants to go to Geylang, and
- 39:47Speaker 2: then she says, uh, very tired, but Machi have to
- 39:49Speaker 2: go to Geylang, you know, uh, to buy crow po lah,
- 39:52Speaker 2: I have to buy fish, buy chicken. I'm like.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Oh, OK, uh, she has to buy for because her daughter,
- 39:58Speaker 2: you know, uh, you know my daughter Fatimah, ah, that
- 40:00Speaker 2: one lah, Fatimah, ah, you know what, uh, uh, suddenly
- 40:03Speaker 2: I know, you know, the daughter, no, that, so I,
- 40:05Speaker 2: so I say lah, oh, Fatimah, ah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 40:08Speaker 2: coming back, ah, OK, so the machi, ah ah, Fatimah
- 40:11Speaker 2: coming back, uh, uh, from Australia, you know, Australia, uh, I,
- 40:15Speaker 2: I know Machi my Australia lah. The machi say, yeah,
- 40:18Speaker 2: she coming back, she like this one.
- 40:20Speaker 2: And then the children, you know, she got 2 children,
- 40:23Speaker 2: 2 boys. Then you know Hassan, uh, her children, then
- 40:26Speaker 2: I say, oh, Hassan, the first one, then she say, no,
- 40:29Speaker 2: the first one was boy. Then I think, OK lah,
- 40:32Speaker 2: if not the first, then the second, so I say, uh,
- 40:34Speaker 2: the second one. Then she say, uh, then you know,
- 40:37Speaker 2: suddenly I know lah, the, the Hassan. So suddenly I
- 40:41Speaker 2: know her whole family lah, yeah, very funny lah, this
- 40:44Speaker 2: uh Machi, very cute.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 40:48Speaker 1: What a cute voice note over there. Can I just
- 40:51Speaker 1: say I love voice notes like this. I know it
- 40:53Speaker 1: makes me laugh. It makes me smile. And just a
- 40:55Speaker 1: little while, we're so excited to let you hear this because,
- 40:58Speaker 1: you know, Khaled's going to be here in Singapore very soon.
- 41:01Speaker 1: He's one of the most like talented artists of our time,
- 41:03Speaker 1: I feel. Yeah, and tickets are on sale.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Available for you over at Ticketmaster.sg and the concert happens
- 41:11Speaker 1: November 24th. And now look, this is the kind of
- 41:14Speaker 1: meet and greet and VIP experience I don't mind paying
- 41:17Speaker 1: for because if you do get a VIP ticket, you
- 41:20Speaker 1: get one-seated ticket, of course, a meet and greet with Khalid.
- 41:24Speaker 1: And an individual photo opportunity with Khaled as well. Nice.
- 41:29Speaker 1: That's what I'll pay for for a VIP experience, yeah,
- 41:33Speaker 1: for sure, for sure. And now I think of my
- 41:34Speaker 1: ticket for Coldplay and all that face palm is it?
- 41:40Speaker 1: I mean, look, um.
- 41:43Speaker 1: For what it's worth, you still had a good time, right?
- 41:47Speaker 1: You just, OK, for that price you expected at least
- 41:50Speaker 1: you know a meet and greet, is it? You know
- 41:52Speaker 1: what angers me a little bit controversial as well, OK.
- 41:58Speaker 1: I paid almost $1000 for a Coldplay ticket, which I,
- 42:02Speaker 1: which said an experience of a lifetime. In the end,
- 42:05Speaker 1: it was a backstage tour where everything is Googleable. That's firstly,
- 42:09Speaker 1: but you get to be in the presence of and
- 42:12Speaker 1: some of the fans actually expected like a group picture
- 42:14Speaker 1: with Coldplay and meet and greet at the very least.
- 42:16Speaker 1: None of us got it, but when the concert was
- 42:18Speaker 1: over and some people were posting it.
- 42:20Speaker 1: We realized that a lot of the sponsor families or
- 42:23Speaker 1: all the very, very VIP people, they got pictures taken
- 42:27Speaker 1: with Coldplay, and then some fans are like, hey, we
- 42:29Speaker 1: paid so much for a VIP ticket. At least give
- 42:33Speaker 1: us this chance to meet them for a quick second
- 42:35Speaker 1: you at least get like a signed merch or nothing,
- 42:39Speaker 1: no signed. OK, at the very least I would have
- 42:41Speaker 1: thought maybe they were.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Get them to sign some t-shirt or something, give it
- 42:44Speaker 1: to you. That that would have been cool too. And
- 42:46Speaker 1: that's why this VIP's a good one. Yeah, greet with
- 42:50Speaker 1: him and a photo with him. Yeah. So hey, um, we,
- 42:53Speaker 1: we didn't get to see him just yet, but he
- 42:55Speaker 1: did drop us a call and we managed to have
- 42:55Speaker 1: a chat on the phone. Um, the next few minutes
- 42:59Speaker 1: is going to be quite surreal for us because we've
- 43:02Speaker 1: been playing his songs nonstop.
- 43:07Speaker 1: And every single time he releases something, boom, it's on
- 43:10Speaker 1: our show. We have Khalid with us here on 987
- 43:13Speaker 1: and Khalid, I'm gonna start with this. Is Khalid still young,
- 43:17Speaker 1: dumb and broke? I will say, I will say youth.
- 43:20Speaker 1: The thing about youth is, it is a, a mindset
- 43:24Speaker 1: and to speak about.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Myself, you know, I'm, I'm always hungry for more. Although
- 43:29Speaker 1: I might not be that young, dumb and broke teenager
- 43:32Speaker 1: that I once was, uh, I still feel like the
- 43:36Speaker 1: story lives on because it lives inside of me. To me, truthfully,
- 43:40Speaker 1: that's still one of my favorite songs to perform even
- 43:42Speaker 1: to this day. I, I will be singing.
- 43:44Speaker 1: Young, dumb and broke until the day that I am
- 43:46Speaker 1: in my walker and someone is pushing me around in
- 43:49Speaker 1: a wheelchair, I will still be singing Young, Dumb and Broke.
- 43:51Speaker 1: So love. You know what is so relatable across every
- 43:55Speaker 1: different phase of life. I think we can still play
- 43:57Speaker 1: it and be like, yeah, we vibe with it for sure.
- 43:59Speaker 1: But as you mature and you know, we've been following
- 44:02Speaker 1: your journey all these years, what have you become more
- 44:05Speaker 1: protective of? Oh, I've really become a lot more protective
- 44:09Speaker 1: of my piece. I think uh my piece is is
- 44:12Speaker 1: something that's really big as I become.
- 44:14Speaker 1: You know, a little bit older into my adulthood, being
- 44:17Speaker 1: 28 now, starting to make music when I was 18.
- 44:20Speaker 1: I feel like when I was younger, um, I used
- 44:23Speaker 1: to spread myself really thin and I never really saved
- 44:27Speaker 1: that energy to pour back into myself. And so now
- 44:31Speaker 1: I think worrying, not worrying, but protecting my peace, protecting
- 44:35Speaker 1: my health, my well-being, those are
- 44:39Speaker 1: Just at the top of my list. One of my
- 44:41Speaker 1: personal favorite songs from you is Satellite. I cannot wait
- 44:43Speaker 1: to use it for a very good travel video in
- 44:46Speaker 1: the future. But on, on that note, where is the
- 44:49Speaker 1: most or what is the most interesting place or video
- 44:52Speaker 1: that you've seen your music being used for? I, I
- 44:56Speaker 1: think interesting to me is knowing, OK, I've put out
- 44:59Speaker 1: this music for, it's been a decade since I've put
- 45:01Speaker 1: out this music. Sometimes I kind of
- 45:03Speaker 1: That I forget these songs. I don't really live with
- 45:05Speaker 1: these songs every day. So I think for me it's
- 45:08Speaker 1: always when I'm seeing a viral video on TikTok and
- 45:11Speaker 1: my song is in the background or I'm seeing a
- 45:14Speaker 1: creator listening to my music, or I think those moments
- 45:19Speaker 1: are always surreal, even when it comes down to, for me,
- 45:24Speaker 1: a really big portion of my career.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Uh, came from SoundCloud and and the accessibility that it was.
- 45:33Speaker 1: My career started from creators being able to see creators
- 45:37Speaker 1: like Kylie Kylie, creators and legends and icons like Kylie
- 45:41Speaker 1: Jenner using my music and using location on that story.
- 45:45Speaker 1: You know, so I think every time I see my
- 45:48Speaker 1: song being used in the wild by just anyone creating.
- 45:52Speaker 1: It is, it's really incredible. But you know, speaking of
- 45:55Speaker 1: all the stuff that you see online, right, um, we
- 45:57Speaker 1: of course see you online as well, but is there
- 45:59Speaker 1: a version of Khaled that your inner circle sees that
- 46:03Speaker 1: we don't know about? I have been trying to put
- 46:06Speaker 1: my personality out there a little bit more, but it
- 46:09Speaker 1: is hard. It's really hard. I feel, I feel really
- 46:12Speaker 1: safe around my friends and I think that when I
- 46:15Speaker 1: feel safe, I'm way more
- 46:17Speaker 1: Expressive, talkative. I, I just, I like to dance. I
- 46:21Speaker 1: like to, I like to have fun and I like
- 46:23Speaker 1: to ride four wheelers. I like to get dirty and muddy.
- 46:28Speaker 1: And, and I, and I'm a little adventurous and I
- 46:31Speaker 1: feel like, you know, my, my listeners don't really see
- 46:34Speaker 1: my adventurous side, but I love a snowmobile. I love
- 46:38Speaker 1: a four wheeler. I don't know, just live life to
- 46:41Speaker 1: the fullest. Is there a weird activity that you just
- 46:43Speaker 1: really want to do? Like on that note, just following
- 46:45Speaker 1: up from that question, I've only went to zip line.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Once or twice. Maybe one day I want to work
- 46:52Speaker 1: up to going skydiving. You're going to love it. Extremely
- 46:57Speaker 1: afraid of heights, but I love pushing my fear of heights.
- 47:00Speaker 1: And like I said, I went zip lining maybe once
- 47:03Speaker 1: or twice and it was so scary, but it was
- 47:05Speaker 1: so I just felt so free.
- 47:08Speaker 1: And so maybe I'll feel feel a similar free freedom
- 47:11Speaker 1: by hopping out of a plane one day. Who knows?
- 47:13Speaker 1: I mean, we have a zip line here in Singapore,
- 47:16Speaker 1: but I think I want to put him on the slingshot. Yeah,
- 47:18Speaker 1: like a bungee bungee. We're both adrenaline junkies. Come with us,
- 47:22Speaker 1: come with us. Oh my God, I would love to.
- 47:25Speaker 1: You know what? Let's let's let's plan something if you're
- 47:27Speaker 1: here in Singapore and if you have time. But, on
- 47:30Speaker 1: to a little bit more introspective and maybe say reflective question.
- 47:34Speaker 1: You mentioned earlier you've been doing this since you were 18,
- 47:36Speaker 1: you're now 28.
- 47:37Speaker 1: In an ever-changing music industry and even life as well.
- 47:42Speaker 1: What has been your biggest win in your career or
- 47:45Speaker 1: in life so far? My biggest win in my life
- 47:49Speaker 1: was creating the album American Teen.
- 47:52Speaker 1: I think that that is my biggest win. Not that
- 47:56Speaker 1: I haven't had songs that I feel like have impacted
- 48:00Speaker 1: me in amazing ways, but to me, when I look
- 48:03Speaker 1: back at that album, I really wrote that album when
- 48:06Speaker 1: I was 1718 years old. To me, that is such
- 48:09Speaker 1: a huge win because it set me up to a
- 48:12Speaker 1: life where I'm still performing these songs 10 years later.
- 48:16Speaker 1: My listeners still feel impacted greatly by these songs, and
- 48:21Speaker 1: I was able to be a part of a cultural, um,
- 48:25Speaker 1: generational shift when it comes down to music, you know,
- 48:29Speaker 1: being one of the first artists to talk about, Send
- 48:31Speaker 1: me your location in a song. And now it's a
- 48:34Speaker 1: common tool that we all use, and I think those moments,
- 48:38Speaker 1: being able to say
- 48:39Speaker 1: I wrote American Teen and I lived it and I
- 48:43Speaker 1: put it out there into the world. That to me
- 48:45Speaker 1: is a win because that, regardless of me not being
- 48:48Speaker 1: a teenager anymore, that to me is a timeless album,
- 48:51Speaker 1: so I'll forever be thankful for that. With the wins
- 48:54Speaker 1: that we celebrate, we also learned from the losses. What
- 48:56Speaker 1: has been your biggest loss and how did you bounce
- 48:59Speaker 1: back from that, if you don't mind sharing? One of
- 49:01Speaker 1: my biggest
- 49:02Speaker 1: Losses in my life. If we're speaking about even American
- 49:06Speaker 1: teen in relation, when I put out American Teen, I
- 49:10Speaker 1: had a lot of lot of hope for that album
- 49:12Speaker 1: and I got nominated for 5 Grammys for that album
- 49:15Speaker 1: and I didn't win any Grammys for that album. In
- 49:17Speaker 1: my more premature mindset, I was a little, little heartbroken,
- 49:22Speaker 1: if you will. I was a little heartbroken because
- 49:25Speaker 1: I lived my entire life in my mind to make
- 49:27Speaker 1: it to the Grammys, and I still have so much
- 49:30Speaker 1: respect for the Grammys now, uh, but it really put
- 49:33Speaker 1: a lot of things into perspective. For me, it really
- 49:37Speaker 1: reminded me what we're doing is because we genuinely love it.
- 49:41Speaker 1: The joy, the impact that that that music has on
- 49:46Speaker 1: the world. To me, that's it's bigger than an award
- 49:50Speaker 1: because some of the music that has inspired me to
- 49:53Speaker 1: become the artist I am today.
- 49:56Speaker 1: Might not have had, um, you know, a platinum record
- 50:01Speaker 1: or might not have won awards. Uh, awards don't amount
- 50:06Speaker 1: to talent and, and I think that that was a
- 50:10Speaker 1: lesson that I, I really learned early on.
- 50:12Speaker 1: And it allowed me to create music from just my
- 50:16Speaker 1: genuine soul instead of thinking, OK, well this music is
- 50:21Speaker 1: going to be a world renowned hitter. I'm going to
- 50:23Speaker 1: win this, I'm going to win this. I'm like, no,
- 50:25Speaker 1: I want, I want to win life by.
- 50:27Speaker 1: By being myself and creating from my heart, a loss
- 50:31Speaker 1: that turns into a win. Thank you for that. You
- 50:33Speaker 1: just you speaking, even though we can't see you on camera,
- 50:36Speaker 1: like we're just smiling because you radiate so much joy, honestly,
- 50:40Speaker 1: like that's one of the things that we love about you,
- 50:42Speaker 1: even though, I mean, we're acting like we're besties now,
- 50:44Speaker 1: but yes, we didn't even speak prior to this. Yeah. Um,
- 50:48Speaker 1: just a fun one before we let you go. I
- 50:49Speaker 1: think we're going to be out of time very soon,
- 50:51Speaker 1: but here in Singapore, just to take you into our
- 50:53Speaker 1: culture a little bit.
- 50:54Speaker 1: We kind of love queuing up for stuff that's hyped
- 50:57Speaker 1: up here in Singapore, you know, like when things come through,
- 51:00Speaker 1: something popular happens, we're like, oh, everyone just queues up
- 51:03Speaker 1: for something. Even for your tickets. Yeah. Is there, that, yeah,
- 51:06Speaker 1: that might be more virtual than anything, but even so,
- 51:08Speaker 1: it's a queue. Is there something that you wouldn't mind
- 51:12Speaker 1: standing in line for? Incredible, amazing, Michelin, just like food,
- 51:17Speaker 1: like a great.
- 51:18Speaker 1: Plate, a great meal that I know that the chef
- 51:21Speaker 1: and the team took their time to craft and create
- 51:26Speaker 1: from their heart. I will stand for hours for a
- 51:30Speaker 1: beautiful plate. I love food. So food and ice cream,
- 51:34Speaker 1: I will stand in line for ice cream. You will
- 51:36Speaker 1: fit right into Singapore. Plenty of which we have available
- 51:39Speaker 1: for you here in Singapore. Khalid, I think that's all
- 51:42Speaker 1: the time that we
- 51:43Speaker 1: have with you. Is there anything else you'd like to
- 51:45Speaker 1: say to your fans in Singapore before we let you go? Hey, 987,
- 51:48Speaker 1: this is Khalid and I want to give you guys
- 51:50Speaker 1: so much love. Shout out to Singapore. I love you
- 51:53Speaker 1: guys so much and see you soon. Time for some
- 51:56Speaker 1: food news. 123, food news. Food news. Sonia with the
- 52:02Speaker 1: good food news and given how it involves G Dragon,
- 52:05Speaker 1: I got the power, the power, power.
- 52:09Speaker 1: But hey, he certainly does have the power, star power,
- 52:12Speaker 1: that's for sure, because he just scored a collaboration with McDonald's. Congratulations, dragon. Wow,
- 52:19Speaker 1: this must have been a big one.
- 52:20Speaker 1: So you might be wondering what do McDonald's and G
- 52:23Speaker 1: Dragon have in common. I wonder who's the bigger winner
- 52:28Speaker 1: for the collaboration. Is it McDonald's or Dragon? I think
- 52:30Speaker 1: they both win, man. Seriously, I think it's McDonald's walking away,
- 52:33Speaker 1: the biggest winner, getting G Dragon on board their campaign.
- 52:37Speaker 1: You know, sales are gonna fly. That too. I'm just
- 52:40Speaker 1: surprised G Dragon hasn't had a collaboration with Mercedes for
- 52:43Speaker 1: the G-wagon.
- 52:47Speaker 1: Yeah, as in seriously, that could have been hilarious. Anyway,
- 52:50Speaker 1: focusing on the one with McDonald's right now, um, they
- 52:53Speaker 1: were teasing it for quite some time with some of
- 52:56Speaker 1: his signature imagery, you know, like the flower with the
- 53:00Speaker 1: petal falling off, like that's very dragon, a few things
- 53:03Speaker 1: that they were dropping as well. So people immediately thought like, oh, collap, collap, collab.
- 53:07Speaker 1: Here's what's gonna happen is it will feature bulgogi burgers.
- 53:11Speaker 1: Hats and tote bags and it's all with G dragon's
- 53:16Speaker 1: signature designs on it. So, the first thing you can
- 53:19Speaker 1: experience is the brand new spicy bulgogi chicken burger. Sounds
- 53:23Speaker 1: so good. Spicy crispy chicken glazed with that sweet spicy
- 53:27Speaker 1: bulgogi sauce and you've got your fresh lettuce as well,
- 53:30Speaker 1: available from the 1st of October. I believe it also
- 53:33Speaker 1: comes in um a beef version too.
- 53:36Speaker 1: And don't and beef. 15th of October, spicy nuggets are back.
- 53:41Speaker 1: Oh yeah. Oh, you mean it? Yeah, I didn't even
- 53:43Speaker 1: realize it left. It keeps going and coming back Novel.
- 53:47Speaker 1: So from 11 a.m. on 8th of October onwards, if
- 53:50Speaker 1: you're a big fan, you can score limited edition merchandise
- 53:53Speaker 1: that were made in collaboration with G Dragon's fashion label
- 53:56Speaker 1: and it includes, like I said, tote bag, a pin set.
- 53:59Speaker 1: Um, they're quite affordable, $12.90 $5.90 with every purchase of
- 54:03Speaker 1: a meal. But if you decide, oh, you don't want to,
- 54:05Speaker 1: you're not so hungry that day, you just want to
- 54:06Speaker 1: buy the merch, you can still get the bundle comprising
- 54:09Speaker 1: of both items for $18.80. With that said, I wonder
- 54:14Speaker 1: whether is anyone still keeping the packaging from the McDonald's
- 54:19Speaker 1: BTS meal. I'm sure, actually, I'm sure some people like
- 54:22Speaker 1: they wash it.
- 54:22Speaker 1: It out and then they, they store it well and
- 54:26Speaker 1: just make sure that it's part of history, it's stored well.
- 54:30Speaker 1: So I wonder what the packaging for the Dragon would
- 54:33Speaker 1: be like. We'll find out very soon. We'll find out, yeah,
- 54:36Speaker 1: but so far looking quite cool and I think it's
- 54:39Speaker 1: there's some offers that are available at selected outlets too.
- 54:42Speaker 1: So please go check out your nearest outlet to see
- 54:44Speaker 1: what they're offering.
- 54:45Speaker 1: Um, but yeah, you have a few days to get
- 54:48Speaker 1: yourself ready to get some merch. Wow, BTS and Dragon.
- 54:51Speaker 1: I wonder who's next. What, what about the Blackpink girls?
- 54:54Speaker 1: Have they done? They did something, I feel, right? I
- 54:57Speaker 1: can't remember. Was it Oreos? Yes, Oreos, right? Or was
- 55:01Speaker 1: that BTS? BTS and stuff, right, right, right. You know what,
- 55:07Speaker 1: if Blackpink were to be featured in McDonald's, I'll pick
- 55:10Speaker 1: one member only, Rose.
- 55:13Speaker 1: Oh yeah, actually her song would totally um fit. Rose
- 55:18Speaker 1: McDonald's collaboration that has to happen soon. Yeah. OK, well,
- 55:21Speaker 1: we'll see what happens next and who's the next collaboration
- 55:24Speaker 1: in life. I just realized just to quote the song
- 55:27Speaker 1: this year 2026 here in Singapore, to quote the song Hocker,
- 55:30Speaker 1: you got something to tell me or what? What's going on?
- 55:32Speaker 1: A lot of home wrecking cases. 00, if you think
- 55:36Speaker 1: about it in the news, or just in general.
- 55:39Speaker 1: Going with this news is subjective, but if you read
- 55:43Speaker 1: up all the things that's happening on TikTok and Reddit
- 55:46Speaker 1: here in Singapore, you know what, I stay far away
- 55:48Speaker 1: from Reddit. I can't. It's a cesspool of like a
- 55:51Speaker 1: lot of terrible people and opinions. Yeah, I know it
- 55:54Speaker 1: can be quite scary, but it's very, very alarming how
- 55:59Speaker 1: some Redditors when they post, right, they seem to have
- 56:02Speaker 1: every single detail.
- 56:05Speaker 1: Yeah, we've got to which I'm wondering whether some of
- 56:08Speaker 1: these Redditors actually friends of the person, someone who is
- 56:12Speaker 1: known in the circle, hiding behind a burner account and
- 56:16Speaker 1: taking this chance to just go and write whatever he
- 56:18Speaker 1: or she wants to say you know if the if
- 56:22Speaker 1: the victims or the people who are in this piece
- 56:25Speaker 1: of like in this thread, right, want to put in
- 56:28Speaker 1: the effort to find out who it is, they can,
- 56:30Speaker 1: they can escalate it and find out who it is.
- 56:33Speaker 1: Online harms commission here in Singapore. Exactly. So be extra
- 56:37Speaker 1: careful what you say and post. Again, hiding behind a
- 56:40Speaker 1: burner account doesn't mean they can't find out who you are.
- 56:43Speaker 1: It's true, yeah, OK, odd way to wrap up the show,
- 56:46Speaker 1: but I agree with you. I agree with you because
- 56:48Speaker 1: it's popping off, man. Reddit. I'm sure you just fill
- 56:50Speaker 1: me in on the tea. I will. You just give
- 56:52Speaker 1: me the summary because I can't, I can't do it
- 56:53Speaker 1: like reading through the comments I really can't.
