Transcript
- 0:03Last night after the show,
- 0:05I took my thirdsy, was ready for bed,
- 0:08turned on the Steelers-Ravens game.
- 0:11Everything went out the window.
- 0:12We're going to talk about it next.
- 0:25I love the chase and the hunt and
- 0:26I set the pace when I'm running.
- 0:28I always take what I want and I
- 0:30always give it one hundred.
- 0:31Don't need a bank, no I'm funded.
- 0:33Play the game like it's nothing.
- 0:34I'm always thankful for something.
- 0:35Don't take for granted, stay humble.
- 0:37Now wake up!
- 0:38It's time to look at the enemy.
- 0:41Look in the mirror if he is no
- 0:43friend to me.
- 0:44It's not working out,
- 0:45maybe it's the chemistry.
- 0:46It's time to break up.
- 0:56it's lunch time what is going on everybody
- 1:01welcome to lunch with the Clydesdale so
- 1:03glad to be with you today so pumped
- 1:07we've got cross fat here already we've got
- 1:10WRM nineteen twenty two we've got Frida
- 1:14what is up can't wait to hang out
- 1:16with you for a little bit today um
- 1:20Where do I want to start?
- 1:22CrossFit says,
- 1:23so is the real bracket vote now?
- 1:27I'll be honest, man,
- 1:28that bracket took it out of me last
- 1:29night.
- 1:31I was telling the ladies after the show
- 1:35last night that when I was putting
- 1:38together the bracket,
- 1:39I went to this website.
- 1:40It's a place where you can set up
- 1:42brackets for different sporting events.
- 1:44And so I set it up,
- 1:45I typed everything in,
- 1:47and then I clicked off of it and
- 1:49it all deleted.
- 1:50So I had to go back and redo
- 1:52the entire bracket all over again after
- 1:56that.
- 1:56And then last night,
- 1:57like everybody was complaining about what
- 1:59was on the bracket,
- 2:01but I only took what was suggested by
- 2:04people in the comments or the poll I
- 2:06posted on YouTube.
- 2:08But in the end, in the end,
- 2:11Rocky was the winner.
- 2:14And it should be.
- 2:15Rocky is the greatest sports movie ever.
- 2:17It won our greatest sports movies ever.
- 2:19Hoosiers was the movie battling it,
- 2:23which I would consider one of the best
- 2:29sports movies as well.
- 2:31If I can remember correctly,
- 2:34baseball was the natural.
- 2:36Ice sports was miracle.
- 2:39Football was... Remember the Titans?
- 2:44Basketball was Hoosiers.
- 2:47Combat was Rocky.
- 2:51Other sports was dodgeball, maybe.
- 2:57Racing movies ended up being Talladega
- 3:01Nights, maybe.
- 3:05It's hard to remember now.
- 3:06It seems like eons ago, but CrossFit says,
- 3:12I did not comment,
- 3:12so I have no ownership.
- 3:15It's kind of a bad CrossFit Games.
- 3:16We found the fittest in spite of ourselves
- 3:19and the programming.
- 3:20There you go.
- 3:26The poll worked sixty percent of the time
- 3:28every time it did.
- 3:30It's really tough because like just like a
- 3:33peek behind the curtains,
- 3:34you're really trying to get engagement
- 3:36with the videos we post.
- 3:38And so I pushed for people to make
- 3:40comments on the YouTube channel,
- 3:43not in the chat,
- 3:45because it pushes our engagement.
- 3:47And that's what I'm trying to do with
- 3:49these things.
- 3:50In addition to it being fun,
- 3:51I thought it'd be fun to look at
- 3:53We put together sixty four of what I
- 3:55consider to be and the crowd considered to
- 3:58be the greatest sports movies of all time.
- 4:02And we narrowed it down to Rocky.
- 4:05The original Rocky.
- 4:09So.
- 4:12Yeah, so that's where we got to.
- 4:15it was a long haul to get there,
- 4:16but we did make it and Rocky beat
- 4:18Hoosiers in the final by,
- 4:20by a nice chunk too.
- 4:22Like,
- 4:23but we had some last night that ended
- 4:25in ties that we had to wait for
- 4:27one more vote just to kind of move
- 4:28us on into the bracket.
- 4:31Um, so yeah, it was really,
- 4:34really interesting.
- 4:35Uh, Shay can't say watch,
- 4:37but looking forward to catching up later.
- 4:39Yeah.
- 4:39The nice thing is when you watch it
- 4:40back later,
- 4:41as you can fast forward through, um,
- 4:44some of the arguing as we went through
- 4:46the whole thing.
- 4:48But Jamie has said that next time she
- 4:50will take charge of it and she can
- 4:53do it and she can run the poll
- 4:54and we'll do it that way.
- 4:55But there we go.
- 4:59CrossFit says seating is such a factor.
- 5:02I truly believe seating is a factor to
- 5:06getting towards the end.
- 5:07But at the end of the day,
- 5:08the best movie is going to win no
- 5:10matter who it's up against.
- 5:13And I think we got there.
- 5:14I think just like the CrossFit Games
- 5:16always finds the fittest,
- 5:19we were able to do that.
- 5:22So, um, I said in the opening,
- 5:25like last night after the show,
- 5:28I drank my third Z,
- 5:28I was getting ready for bed.
- 5:30And then that Sunday night game,
- 5:32the last NFL game of the season,
- 5:34Steelers and Ravens was so freaking wild.
- 5:39I could not go to sleep yet.
- 5:43The third Z was kicking in trying to
- 5:45put me to sleep and I'm watching the
- 5:47end of that game.
- 5:48It was absolutely bananas.
- 5:51Um,
- 5:52And so if you want a good sleep
- 5:56aid that tries to wreck you watching a
- 5:58football game, get Thirdsy.
- 6:00Thirdsy.com backslash Jazzy.
- 6:03Get you fifteen percent off your order or
- 6:05use Jazzy at checkout to get fifteen
- 6:08percent off that order.
- 6:10Last night,
- 6:11I just went with a nice refreshing
- 6:13strawberry lemonade.
- 6:13It was awesome,
- 6:15but it was not awesome that it was
- 6:16putting me to sleep while trying to watch.
- 6:20Aaron Rodgers really kind of put on a
- 6:22show at the end of the season and
- 6:24get the Steelers into the playoffs.
- 6:26But it was a crazy ending.
- 6:28If you did not see the end of
- 6:29that game, missed extra points,
- 6:31missed field goals, wide open receivers,
- 6:35a ton of points in the last five
- 6:37minutes of the game.
- 6:39It was absolutely bananas.
- 6:46Torrico's call on the kick was perfect.
- 6:51It was so crazy.
- 6:52My wife is a big-time Steeler fan.
- 6:55So I was just trying to root on
- 6:57the Steelers so I had a good week.
- 7:00The fact that the Steelers are in the
- 7:01playoffs,
- 7:02I actually get to live happy for the
- 7:03week.
- 7:05So we have the Bears game on Saturday
- 7:07night.
- 7:07We have the Steelers game on Monday night
- 7:09in the playoffs.
- 7:10So we have some nice primetime games to
- 7:12watch this week.
- 7:13It's going to be fun.
- 7:16Um, just Ramirez vision quest.
- 7:19Wasn't mentioned at all.
- 7:21Vision quest was two weeks ago in the
- 7:23combat series.
- 7:24It was listed.
- 7:25It was put up for a vote.
- 7:27Um, and, uh, it didn't make it.
- 7:32It didn't make it.
- 7:36Um,
- 7:40a CrossFit had a bourbon old fashioned.
- 7:43Same, same.
- 7:44Yeah, I'm sure it was.
- 7:45Uh,
- 7:48I wonder what's going through kicker's
- 7:50head for the Ravens.
- 7:52They did a great job on get up
- 7:53this morning showing that he actually
- 7:55lifted his head on the last kick.
- 7:57The other kicks the entire night.
- 7:58He did not.
- 7:59He kept his head down and swung through
- 8:01the ball.
- 8:03Uh, first, but then on that last kick,
- 8:08he actually looked to see where it was
- 8:10going.
- 8:11Um, they did a nice job showing it.
- 8:13So, um,
- 8:19Well, their last kicker had too many jobs.
- 8:22Jobs in quotes, yes.
- 8:25Man,
- 8:26you would think that football players
- 8:28would learn.
- 8:30You would have thought Deshaun Watson was
- 8:32an example of how you can ruin your
- 8:34life and your career by a quick little
- 8:38happy ending here and there,
- 8:41and the Baltimore Ravens kicker did not
- 8:43learn that lesson.
- 8:47Keeping it real,
- 8:48I guess we're stuck with Tomlin.
- 8:50Dude, Steeler fans drive me bananas.
- 8:53My wife is one.
- 8:54My entire family are Steeler fans.
- 8:56You guys are so spoiled having winning
- 8:58teams all the time.
- 9:01I would have taken Mike Tomlin in a
- 9:02heartbeat as my coach.
- 9:05The Bears do not win ever.
- 9:08Finally,
- 9:08we have the right coach in Ben Johnson.
- 9:11But my God,
- 9:12Mike Tomlin in nineteen years has never
- 9:14had a losing season.
- 9:16He's gotten to the playoffs.
- 9:17He's won a Super Bowl.
- 9:19All of that stuff.
- 9:20And Steeler fans just continue to bitch
- 9:23about him.
- 9:25It drives me absolutely bananas.
- 9:32Loser fires their coach first.
- 9:34Lots of firings, man.
- 9:35Black Monday, it is crazy.
- 9:37The Falcons fired their coach last night.
- 9:41Pete Carroll got fired from the Raiders
- 9:42today.
- 9:44Kevin Stefanski got fired from the Browns
- 9:46today.
- 9:48It was just announced that the Cardinals
- 9:50fired their coach.
- 9:52Forgive me if I
- 9:55Can't remember his name off the top of
- 9:56my head.
- 9:57Um, probably why he got fired.
- 9:59Um, so yeah, we'll see who else, uh,
- 10:03doesn't make it through the day,
- 10:04but the giants have kept Joe Shane,
- 10:07the guy who decided the Saquon Barkley
- 10:09wasn't worth keeping and that Danny dimes,
- 10:13uh, Danny.
- 10:14Oh gosh.
- 10:16Uh, shoot.
- 10:16Now I can't even think of his last
- 10:17name.
- 10:18Denny.
- 10:21Why am I having a blank?
- 10:23I played for the Colts this year in
- 10:24Torres Achilles.
- 10:26Shoot.
- 10:27That he was worth saving,
- 10:28and they ended up cutting him anyway.
- 10:31But yeah,
- 10:31he's going to be retained as a GM.
- 10:34So if you're a Giants fan,
- 10:36I feel so sorry for you.
- 10:38Yeah.
- 10:47Yeah,
- 10:47the kicker for the Ravens replaced the
- 10:49most accurate kicker in NFL history who
- 10:51had some issues.
- 10:56Tomlin's postgame killed me.
- 10:57It was awesome.
- 11:00Awesome.
- 11:11But listen to me, I love Tomlin,
- 11:12but listen,
- 11:13there has never been a coach with such
- 11:15a set in stone ceiling.
- 11:19I think if I'm a Steelers fan,
- 11:21I'm more upset with the GM and the
- 11:25talent that was brought in.
- 11:26They have not brought in a wide receiver
- 11:27in five years worth a damn.
- 11:30Or if they do,
- 11:32he's a head case or they only have
- 11:36one and nobody to go on the other
- 11:37side of him.
- 11:39And the defense is getting old and they're
- 11:41not really doing anything about it.
- 11:54Yeah,
- 11:54it was Gannon was the coach for the
- 11:58Cardinals,
- 11:59and Daniel Jones was the quarterback for
- 12:02the Giants.
- 12:03Yeah.
- 12:19Tomlin can win a Super Bowl if we
- 12:20get a great quarterback.
- 12:21It's slightly concerning.
- 12:22He couldn't do it with the killer bees,
- 12:25but I believe he can do it with
- 12:26another Big Ben.
- 12:28Well,
- 12:28the problem is it's hard to find a
- 12:29Big Ben.
- 12:31Being a Bears fan,
- 12:31we don't even know how.
- 12:33Until Caleb Williams,
- 12:34we have not been able to find a
- 12:35quarterback in a hundred and four years.
- 12:39It was year one hundred and five.
- 12:41We drafted Caleb Williams and may actually
- 12:43have an answer.
- 12:49What's going on, Jody?
- 12:55Rogers may be a bit too old to
- 12:56really carry a team.
- 12:57He carried them last night.
- 13:00It was crazy, crazy, crazy.
- 13:04So I think that's enough for the NFL
- 13:07today.
- 13:08I mean,
- 13:09I could talk about it all day,
- 13:10but I know that you guys are here
- 13:12for more of the CrossFit thing.
- 13:15So I wanted to talk about...
- 13:17This is kind of my last look back
- 13:20on... Okay, I've got to address this.
- 13:25Why is Kayla Williams' completion
- 13:28percentage low?
- 13:29It is low because...
- 13:33One,
- 13:33he probably leads the league in drops.
- 13:38Even on yesterday's game,
- 13:40Fox was putting a drop counter up on
- 13:43the throws that he makes and get dropped.
- 13:47The other thing is,
- 13:49and this was a point made by one
- 13:51of the analysts, I can't even remember.
- 13:53He gets out of so much danger by
- 13:56his elusiveness that he is throwing...
- 14:02when it becomes more difficult,
- 14:06even though it looks simple.
- 14:08And so that leads to a two.
- 14:12And the other thing is he's missing some
- 14:14throws.
- 14:14He's in his second year,
- 14:16first year in this offense.
- 14:18Give him another year.
- 14:20He also leads the league in explosive
- 14:22plays.
- 14:23So you take one with the other, right?
- 14:25I don't know.
- 14:28I'm happy with him.
- 14:29As a Bears fan,
- 14:30I'll take him any day of the week.
- 14:34right so um last year this is the
- 14:36last look back i'm gonna do on twenty
- 14:38twenty five but i i just wanted to
- 14:41share the one thing that truly changed
- 14:43this channel last year was this video that
- 14:47was done by andrew hiller if you guys
- 14:52remember this um it was clydesdale versus
- 14:55the queen and while
- 14:58When this went up,
- 15:00it really kind of changed the number of
- 15:03views we got, the subscribers we had,
- 15:08and it changed it pretty dramatically,
- 15:10I will say.
- 15:13That's not the thing that this video
- 15:15changed.
- 15:17I went into a thing where I decided
- 15:20to do this lunch show every single day,
- 15:24and
- 15:26And it was new.
- 15:27I had never done a daily show.
- 15:29I had never done a show by myself.
- 15:32But it was something that I wanted to
- 15:33try to get comfortable in front of a
- 15:35mic just talking to you, the audience.
- 15:39And what happened with this video is I
- 15:44had actually started to kind of open up
- 15:48because I didn't have a co-host yet.
- 15:51anymore and i could just talk freely i
- 15:53could talk about my feelings and those
- 15:56feelings wouldn't impact anybody else on
- 15:58the show they were all going to be
- 16:00put on me no matter what i said
- 16:02it was on me and
- 16:06I started to do more commentary,
- 16:09more riffing on things that are going
- 16:11around in the space.
- 16:13I'd kept a lot of things pent up
- 16:15for many, many years.
- 16:17And all of a sudden,
- 16:19I decided that I was not going to
- 16:21do that anymore.
- 16:23I was going to talk about the things
- 16:24that bothered me.
- 16:25I was going to talk about the inequities
- 16:27that happen around the space.
- 16:29I was going to talk about some of
- 16:32those issues.
- 16:33And when I started doing it,
- 16:34it started to get shared by other people
- 16:37like Andrew.
- 16:38And there was a period where in like
- 16:41a three-week time,
- 16:42he shared like three of my videos.
- 16:46Um, and I,
- 16:47and it's not because Andrew and I are,
- 16:49are super close.
- 16:51I've met him.
- 16:52He's an awesome dude.
- 16:53Um, we communicate occasionally,
- 16:56but it's not like it's a daily friendship
- 16:58and he's sharing these things because I'm
- 17:01saying things that,
- 17:05that are going to get some attention.
- 17:09And what that did is give me the
- 17:12confidence that what I was doing was the
- 17:15right thing for me,
- 17:18that I was speaking what I knew to
- 17:21be true.
- 17:22I was speaking what I thought was going
- 17:25on in the space and what needed to
- 17:27change about the space and what I liked
- 17:29about everything.
- 17:31And it became more honest and it became,
- 17:34um,
- 17:36and I wasn't afraid to like piss people
- 17:38off anymore.
- 17:39Um,
- 17:40forever I was afraid to piss people off
- 17:43and it seemed like, um,
- 17:47whenever I came up with this daily show,
- 17:48this was, this came out five months ago.
- 17:51I think I started the show maybe two
- 17:53or three months before that, if, if that.
- 17:56And, um, it really,
- 17:59it really just gave me the confidence to
- 18:00kind of keep moving in this direction.
- 18:04Um,
- 18:06Yeah, I stopped playing it safe.
- 18:13Why were you scared to piss people off?
- 18:15I was more afraid of...
- 18:20saying something that my co-hosts would
- 18:22not agree with, or maybe, um,
- 18:25get upset about.
- 18:27And I don't,
- 18:27and I don't know why I was doing
- 18:28that.
- 18:29I don't know.
- 18:30But all of a sudden,
- 18:31when I started doing this for,
- 18:33for myself and by myself,
- 18:36all of those restrictions seem to be
- 18:38removed in my head.
- 18:39And I don't know why it was removed,
- 18:42but all of a sudden,
- 18:43and maybe I just got older and said,
- 18:45what the hell I'm going to talk about
- 18:46what I, um,
- 18:51what I want to, uh,
- 18:53losing access or audiences.
- 18:55I never really looked at things that way.
- 18:58Um,
- 19:00It's confusing.
- 19:02I think it was really when I have
- 19:04co-hosts,
- 19:06I want to let them shine and I
- 19:08don't want to steal thunder.
- 19:10And when I went on my own,
- 19:12it allowed me this avenue to just say
- 19:14what I want without worrying about giving
- 19:17everybody their due time and their due
- 19:20say.
- 19:21It was just let me let me talk.
- 19:28Because let's be honest,
- 19:29I'm not a big fish in this pond.
- 19:31I'm not getting the tons of views that
- 19:33Savan and Hiller and them are getting.
- 19:37What I take pride in now is that
- 19:41we have twenty nine hundred and fifty
- 19:42subscribers and there's Sunday night
- 19:45shows.
- 19:45We hit fifteen hundred views.
- 19:47So we are hitting like a fifty percent
- 19:51ratio to.
- 19:53Views to subscribers,
- 19:56which I take a lot of pride in
- 19:58this show started out.
- 20:01I was getting like thirty fifty people.
- 20:03Now it's very easy to get three hundred
- 20:06in the offseason.
- 20:09And then when the season hits,
- 20:10that number goes way up.
- 20:13And I don't even care about those numbers.
- 20:15I really don't.
- 20:17This became me coming down and having an
- 20:20hour a day to hang out with all
- 20:22of you all and talk about stuff I
- 20:25care about and get a break from my
- 20:28mundane job that I just needed a break
- 20:31from.
- 20:32And with that came a truthfulness and an
- 20:35honesty that has actually grown the
- 20:38channel, which is wild.
- 20:43And I have more fun with this than
- 20:47interviewing athletes,
- 20:48which was the mainstay of this channel for
- 20:51many, many years.
- 20:53I mean,
- 20:53we've probably interviewed four hundred to
- 20:56five hundred athletes on this channel.
- 20:58And that used to be the mainstay.
- 21:03Now it's just chatting with you.
- 21:05It's having a place to hang out every
- 21:07day on my lunch hour to just get
- 21:09a break from what's going on with
- 21:11everything there.
- 21:14which is truly,
- 21:16truly becoming an enjoyment for me.
- 21:19And it's hard.
- 21:22It's hard to come up with topics every
- 21:24single day to talk about.
- 21:26So hard.
- 21:29But a lot of times I come in
- 21:31here and I just start chatting with you.
- 21:33You guys start chatting back in the chat
- 21:35and it just becomes a natural conversation
- 21:37about something that I didn't even plan.
- 21:40And that's what this has beautifully
- 21:42become.
- 21:49I'm glad to see shows break away from
- 21:51just trying to be TEF or Savan and
- 21:53find their voices.
- 21:56Yeah, it's crazy, CrossFact,
- 21:59because when I did this,
- 22:00I didn't know what it was going to
- 22:01look like.
- 22:02I just wanted to get more comfortable
- 22:04talking at a screen.
- 22:05Like I'm sitting here in my basement
- 22:07looking at a screen and then chatting with
- 22:09you guys in the chat and talking about
- 22:13things that I experienced over the last
- 22:14twenty four hours and having a ball doing
- 22:17all of it.
- 22:19Um, and a lot of times it's,
- 22:21it's very unscripted and unplanned.
- 22:24And then we add,
- 22:24I added Corey just for like a little
- 22:26levity during the week.
- 22:28And man, when he's on,
- 22:29we go completely unscripted.
- 22:31Um, when I talk with him,
- 22:34we could be all over the place and
- 22:36it's really, really crazy.
- 22:39Um, so, so yeah, it's awesome.
- 22:45And, um,
- 22:46It was really that video that Hiller put
- 22:49out that gave me the confidence to keep
- 22:51doing what I'm doing,
- 22:53to keep just pushing on and being myself
- 22:59and being open and being honest about
- 23:01everything.
- 23:05There's something here.
- 23:10Shoot.
- 23:11I wanted to...
- 23:14Meanwhile, Caro and Jamie don't care.
- 23:18They're just great.
- 23:21What I love is that the three of
- 23:23us don't seem to ever agree on anything.
- 23:26And if you watched last night's show,
- 23:28we played pencil, pen, and Sharpie.
- 23:30I think of the three topics,
- 23:32all of them, one of us said pencil,
- 23:34one said pen, and one said Sharpie.
- 23:36And that's the beauty of that show.
- 23:38And it's organic.
- 23:39It is completely organic.
- 23:41We all believe different things,
- 23:43and we get to argue our points.
- 23:45And that's what makes that show really
- 23:46special.
- 23:48This show, you know,
- 23:49it's me coming on here just chatting with
- 23:51you and then Corey not even able to
- 23:54spell script.
- 23:56And you can ask him.
- 23:57I don't even send him a note.
- 23:58We don't even generally talk before the
- 24:00show.
- 24:01We just hit live and just start chatting.
- 24:05It is wild.
- 24:08Mark Phillips,
- 24:09I'm not listening because of a meeting,
- 24:10so I don't know the context here,
- 24:12but just wanted to say I look forward
- 24:13to your show every day.
- 24:14Love the consistency and the schedule.
- 24:22uh do hypothetically speaking if you had a
- 24:24hit had to hit a one rep max
- 24:27before the wad and have a back thing
- 24:29going on beat the leaderboard by five
- 24:32pounds or just smash it and deal with
- 24:34the consequences um
- 24:39Larry,
- 24:40I'm at a point in my life where
- 24:42after twelve back procedures,
- 24:45if I have to hit a one rep
- 24:47max and I don't have the time to
- 24:49set it up and do it the way
- 24:53that I can do it safely,
- 24:56I just back off for the day and
- 24:57take the loss.
- 25:02That's just where I am in life.
- 25:04If I was at a competition,
- 25:06I would warm up well,
- 25:07I would get in the right place and
- 25:09I would go ahead and do it.
- 25:11But if it's like a quick,
- 25:14it's funny because, you know,
- 25:15Christy Aramo-O'Connell was my coach for a
- 25:17long time.
- 25:18And we had a lot of discussions that
- 25:21in my fifties,
- 25:23i look at the class board and sometimes
- 25:25it's beneficial to pick one or the other
- 25:28to go for if you have a lift
- 25:31and you have a metcon you make the
- 25:33decision that one of these i'm going to
- 25:36hit with everything i got and the other
- 25:38thing i'm going to back off a little
- 25:40bit and just kind of move and get
- 25:43good quality movement in
- 25:45And that really changed the way my
- 25:47CrossFit journey went by having that
- 25:50thought process involved in it.
- 25:53And that all came from Christy
- 25:55Aramo-O'Connell and her husband, Patrick.
- 25:57They were awesome about coaching those
- 25:59things out that you don't have to win
- 26:01every single workout.
- 26:03Just pick the one that you want to
- 26:05hit that day and the other one,
- 26:07do seventy five,
- 26:08eighty percent and just get through and
- 26:13and live to fight another day.
- 26:16Because as you get into your fifties,
- 26:18sometimes you just can't handle the load
- 26:20of everything or if you don't have enough
- 26:22time to warm up properly and things like
- 26:25that.
- 26:37Kenneth says establish dominance.
- 26:41You don't want it to be your last
- 26:42fight though.
- 26:43That's all I'm saying.
- 26:46CrossFit says,
- 26:46what about like two hundred plus muscle
- 26:48ups?
- 26:50Very, very excellent point.
- 26:51CrossFit.
- 26:57Frida,
- 26:57don't mess with your back unless it's like
- 26:59the finals.
- 27:00It's just too risky.
- 27:05I only have one I can I can
- 27:07go for,
- 27:08but what is more important right now?
- 27:10That's what I'm saying.
- 27:12When I was doing that stuff, Larry,
- 27:14a lot of times I would forego the
- 27:17lift to hit the Metcon that day.
- 27:21But sometimes I was in that headspace
- 27:26where I needed to lift.
- 27:27You just have to figure it all out,
- 27:29right?
- 27:29And see what's best for you on that
- 27:31day.
- 27:34And it may be one or the other
- 27:35in that day.
- 27:36But you and I are both athletes that
- 27:38need the Metcon generally more often than
- 27:40we need the lift.
- 27:41You're going to be able to lift heavy
- 27:44till the day you die.
- 27:45Do you need to prove it every single
- 27:47day you're in the gym?
- 27:48No.
- 27:49Because you know, deep down inside,
- 27:52if you need to lift it,
- 27:53you're going to lift it.
- 28:01Chad Anufi says,
- 28:02the dad of the guy who tore his
- 28:04pec for a silly challenge.
- 28:12Things are so crazy.
- 28:13Like,
- 28:14I'm not saying you shouldn't push yourself
- 28:16to do things that are outside the box.
- 28:21I'll be honest with you.
- 28:22I was so impressed with what John Young
- 28:24did.
- 28:25Going into that, I was like,
- 28:26there's no way he's going to even come
- 28:29close.
- 28:30And the fact that he got to like,
- 28:32what, one ninety before that,
- 28:34the pec tear.
- 28:37Like that is.
- 28:40As Corey would say,
- 28:41that's crazy town banana pants.
- 28:43Like I would have never predicted him
- 28:45getting that far into that challenge.
- 28:48I thought he would have tired out way
- 28:49before that.
- 28:50And the fact he did it,
- 28:51I was so, so impressed.
- 28:53Hopefully the pec injury is not severe and
- 28:56it's not a tear, but just like a,
- 28:58like a slight strain that he can kind
- 29:00of work his way through.
- 29:10If he went slower, no tear.
- 29:14Maybe.
- 29:17Maybe.
- 29:20It's funny because I work the games with
- 29:23all the PEC tears,
- 29:23the regionals with all the PEC tears.
- 29:25I was working security.
- 29:27I watched all these high-end athletes walk
- 29:30back into the warm-up area devastated
- 29:33because they tore a PEC.
- 29:36And they were the fittest people in the
- 29:38world.
- 29:39And so it happens.
- 29:44Things like that happen.
- 29:45Should you do two hundred muscle-ups?
- 29:47Probably not.
- 29:48But
- 29:55David Reed, at my age,
- 29:56one rep maxes are out of the question.
- 29:58They shouldn't be out of the question.
- 30:01You can still do a one rep max.
- 30:02It just may be less than what it
- 30:05used to be.
- 30:10Dave handled those pec tears like the peg
- 30:12boards.
- 30:13Yeah.
- 30:14Yep.
- 30:17That's actually pretty accurate, CrossFit.
- 30:23Thirty six athletes mostly are all men.
- 30:26Yes, but it wasn't the programming.
- 30:28It wasn't the programming.
- 30:36I can I can still see Dan Bailey
- 30:39and Sam Dancer's face back in the warm
- 30:42up area, devastated by what happened.
- 30:47Sam was so devastated.
- 31:00Larry says he's fine.
- 31:01It's like the Achilles ruptures.
- 31:03Don't jump is kind of a shit answer
- 31:06or rebound.
- 31:09Carolyn has a really different perspective
- 31:11on that.
- 31:12And it's really about how much you do
- 31:15plyometrics and how much you set your body
- 31:18up to handle those things.
- 31:20If you don't rebound all the time and
- 31:22then you try to rebound is when you
- 31:24get hurt.
- 31:27But if you do it all the time,
- 31:28you've set your body up for that movement
- 31:34and it doesn't seem to be as bad.
- 31:48Ortega is doing well with his Achilles
- 31:50tear.
- 31:54CrossFit says it was kind of the end
- 31:57of Chris Harris and Lucero's run.
- 32:00Same with the Stonebergs.
- 32:01Yeah.
- 32:07You keep bringing up Kobe,
- 32:09but Kobe is a unicorn in this case.
- 32:13And basketball is a completely different
- 32:15sport.
- 32:17Basketball and football,
- 32:19they have side-to-side movement where
- 32:21CrossFit is all straight ahead.
- 32:23And so it has a different strain on
- 32:25the Achilles than CrossFit would ever
- 32:27have.
- 32:35The last thing I wanted to talk about
- 32:37is last night,
- 32:38one of our pencil pen Sharpie questions
- 32:41was,
- 32:41is CrossFit heading in the right
- 32:43direction?
- 32:44And I want to explain myself just a
- 32:49little bit more.
- 32:51I answered it with Sharpie because I do
- 32:52think the direction they're going is in
- 32:55the right way.
- 32:57Do I think they are approaching
- 33:00perfection?
- 33:01No, I do not.
- 33:03But a year ago,
- 33:05we had no media presence at all.
- 33:09If you look on the CrossFit's Instagram,
- 33:11Twitter, and their YouTube channel,
- 33:15there is so much more activity today than
- 33:19there was then.
- 33:21If you look at the CrossFit game season,
- 33:23the amount of changes that have been made,
- 33:26how early everything has been announced,
- 33:28all of that is heading in the right
- 33:30direction.
- 33:31Is it where everything should be?
- 33:33Probably not.
- 33:35Most likely not.
- 33:37But the direction is correct.
- 33:40So that is how I looked at that
- 33:42comment last night is I do believe that
- 33:45CrossFit is heading in the correct
- 33:48direction.
- 33:50Are they going fast enough?
- 33:51Are they going far enough?
- 33:53No, but the direction is correct.
- 34:06And we're still talking about Achilles.
- 34:11So with that,
- 34:16I also think that this pending sale has
- 34:19the people at CrossFit handcuffed.
- 34:23They can all say that they're just moving
- 34:26forward like life is normal,
- 34:29and they're
- 34:30But James Hobart said it on The Spin
- 34:33a week ago that it's hard coming in
- 34:35and hearing these rumors and trying to dig
- 34:39in and figure out what's actually going
- 34:40on.
- 34:41How do you keep moving in that direction
- 34:44when there's all these stories and rumors
- 34:47floating around that, hey,
- 34:48you're going to sell.
- 34:49Hey, maybe we're not going to sell.
- 34:52Hey, maybe we are.
- 34:54And it just keeps going back and forth
- 34:56and back and forth and back and forth.
- 34:58It's got to be very,
- 34:59very difficult for the people at HQ
- 35:01currently to drive in that direction that
- 35:05they want to go into and to do
- 35:08it at a hundred and ten percent.
- 35:10They just can't.
- 35:12And.
- 35:15And I think CrossFit makes a great point
- 35:17too.
- 35:17It's like turning a cruise ship.
- 35:19If you're in a little business in a
- 35:21speedboat,
- 35:22you can make quick decisions and turn and
- 35:25go with the ebbs and flows of the
- 35:27water or what's going on in the space.
- 35:30But CrossFit has become very, very large.
- 35:34It is a global company.
- 35:36And to move these things,
- 35:38quickly is going to be difficult in
- 35:40addition it's real they're really really
- 35:43handcuffed because they don't know who's
- 35:45going to own the joint in the next
- 35:48month six months year who knows and it's
- 35:52got to be really really difficult for them
- 35:55to make all of the significant changes
- 35:57that they want to make we don't know
- 35:59what the approval process is for all the
- 36:01content they do put out
- 36:05They're getting a lot more content out
- 36:07than they used to,
- 36:08but who has to be the last rubber
- 36:11stamp to get it out the door?
- 36:13We don't even know who that is anymore.
- 36:15We don't know the process they have to
- 36:17go through.
- 36:20And if you're the board,
- 36:22you're trying to...
- 36:25You have perceived image that you want to
- 36:27put out there for the sale that you
- 36:30may be saying no to a lot of
- 36:32things that could be done with a new
- 36:35owner in place.
- 36:38Then again,
- 36:38we could get a shit owner that doesn't
- 36:40allow any of it and we are back
- 36:42to square one.
- 36:50Frida,
- 36:51that is on the owners to be more
- 36:52like leaders for the HQ.
- 36:55I do not disagree with you.
- 36:56But I think we can all agree that
- 36:59this private equity company are not good
- 37:01leaders.
- 37:02They are not there to lead this team
- 37:05and move things in the right direction.
- 37:07Yet the team itself is taking it upon
- 37:09themselves to make changes,
- 37:12to get information out more quickly,
- 37:14to get content out to the different
- 37:16socials.
- 37:19That is an amazing part of this,
- 37:22that the group that is doing that are
- 37:25doing amazing things in spite of all the
- 37:29other stuff,
- 37:29in spite of not having good leadership,
- 37:32in spite of the pending sale.
- 37:34They're getting things out in the right
- 37:36direction.
- 37:37But I do think they're handcuffed in being
- 37:39able to go to the lengths that they
- 37:41want to go.
- 37:46Lots of browser time on LinkedIn, I bet,
- 37:48probably.
- 37:51Looking for that next opportunity.
- 37:58I know when I first started with the
- 38:00state, I was probably five, six years in,
- 38:07and there were rumors that there were
- 38:09going to be layoffs.
- 38:11When those rumors of layoffs came,
- 38:13the entire production of where I worked
- 38:16slowed to a halt because everybody was
- 38:19just worried about themselves and where
- 38:21they were going to end up or where
- 38:23they're going to end up on the street.
- 38:26And until that was resolved,
- 38:28nothing got done.
- 38:30Nothing got done.
- 38:32And so the fact that this sale is
- 38:34happening, and let's be honest,
- 38:36when a company sells these days,
- 38:38the first thing the new owners do is
- 38:40clean house.
- 38:44So if there's this pending sale and you're
- 38:47worried for your work life,
- 38:50how in the hell are you supposed to
- 38:52be the best and most productive you can
- 38:55be?
- 39:01The human side of it is so hard.
- 39:04We can set the expectations up that you
- 39:07should continue to do your job.
- 39:09You're hired to do a job.
- 39:11You're paid to do a job, but man,
- 39:13when you're worried about,
- 39:14am I going to be able to put
- 39:16food on the table in a month?
- 39:18That's tough.
- 39:25So, yeah.
- 39:35What I find fascinating is Jonathan Ortega
- 39:37can do box jumps at twenty inches and
- 39:40single under.
- 39:41And he says that he's too much of
- 39:44too much of a bitch to try twenty
- 39:46four yet.
- 39:47I'm doing explosive training and Pogo's to
- 39:49strengthen it.
- 39:50And you have to take you have to
- 39:51take into consideration that Jonathan is
- 39:54not much taller than a twenty four inch
- 39:56box.
- 39:57So that's a big jump for him.
- 40:08And Corey comes in with what Corey comes
- 40:11in.
- 40:12Short answer is you can't.
- 40:13Longer answer is you can't.
- 40:17It's hard to be productive in this type
- 40:19of an environment.
- 40:21And I have to give kudos to those
- 40:24team members that are putting out content
- 40:29in an environment that is that toxic at
- 40:34this point.
- 40:35And that's what it is.
- 40:36It's just toxic.
- 40:38All the new business plans that are out
- 40:41there,
- 40:41all the new rumors of who's going to
- 40:43buy it,
- 40:43what are they going to do to the
- 40:44company?
- 40:45That just becomes a toxic environment
- 40:47that's really hard to be productive in.
- 40:51And Jonathan admits it is a very
- 40:53significant height.
- 41:00Yeah, Jeremy, I am a shortest.
- 41:03I only hang out with short people,
- 41:05so I look taller,
- 41:05just so you know that.
- 41:09That's why I hang out with Corey.
- 41:10That's why I've hung out with Jonathan.
- 41:13I just makes my five,
- 41:15eleven look six foot four.
- 41:17That's all.
- 41:25So what else do we have on the
- 41:28agenda?
- 41:31I don't I don't have anything else on
- 41:32my list to talk about today.
- 41:36I hope Jonathan is recovering well.
- 41:37Looks like he's getting back at it,
- 41:39which is pretty awesome.
- 41:43When you see that man at an event
- 41:44taking shots and video,
- 41:47he's flying around there and he needs his
- 41:49Achilles to do that.
- 41:50So I'm glad that he is back to
- 41:53all of that.
- 41:56Mr. Beast is doing the Mr. Beast games.
- 42:00and apparently like a handful of
- 42:02CrossFitters were selected for this year's
- 42:05version of Mr. Beast.
- 42:07Um, I, I didn't, I started last,
- 42:10the first season of Mr. Beast.
- 42:13Um, I,
- 42:17but I did not make it to the
- 42:18end.
- 42:18I thought it was interesting.
- 42:20Um, it,
- 42:24it's definitely over dramatized for me.
- 42:27Um, but I thought the games were fun.
- 42:30I thought,
- 42:32Yeah.
- 42:34It was very, very interesting.
- 42:37But I know, and Jonathan St.
- 42:38Ashley Wozni,
- 42:40I know there's like a couple more.
- 42:42Bryn Curlin, I think, is doing it.
- 42:45A couple more semifinal level athletes
- 42:48I've seen on Instagram announced that
- 42:49they're part of the show as well.
- 42:52So I'll probably tune in,
- 42:54but I think they start with a thousand
- 42:56people.
- 42:57So it's hard to like even see who's
- 42:59out there in the initial group.
- 43:01And sometimes if you did not watch it,
- 43:04it's like a big grid.
- 43:06And then if you're eliminated,
- 43:07the floor opens up and you just fall
- 43:08through it.
- 43:10Sometimes they eliminated a whole row.
- 43:14And it'll be a hundred people maybe gone.
- 43:17And to see who that was or to
- 43:19see who was on there makes it very
- 43:21difficult or it's really difficult to even
- 43:23connect with the contestants.
- 43:26So that's, I think,
- 43:27the shortcoming of that game show.
- 43:31I think I'd like it a whole lot
- 43:32more if they started with like a hundred
- 43:34and worked their way down from that and
- 43:37maybe not such huge eliminations.
- 43:42And the other thing it does is
- 43:44And maybe I just come from sports where
- 43:49everything's kind of in your hands, right?
- 43:52There,
- 43:52when you're in a row of like a
- 43:55hundred people and the row messes up,
- 43:59it may not have been anything that you
- 44:00had done that gets you eliminated.
- 44:05So it's really hard to get into that
- 44:10for me.
- 44:12Freda says, bring back the gladiators.
- 44:14I would not be opposed to that,
- 44:17but it's gotta be like real gladiator.
- 44:20It's gotta be like the real games.
- 44:24Amanda says too much crying on there.
- 44:26I get annoyed real quick.
- 44:27I really, okay.
- 44:29So this will be the last thing I
- 44:31talk about.
- 44:32So my wife and I binge watch season
- 44:35one of the traders and
- 44:38Never watched it before,
- 44:39just heard like it's a really cool game.
- 44:41And what I found out is it's very
- 44:43much like a board game we play with
- 44:45my daughter called One Night Ultimate
- 44:50Werewolf.
- 44:51And basically what the board game is,
- 44:53is you close your eyes and there's a
- 44:55phone app and it makes one or two
- 44:58of you a werewolf.
- 45:01And then the idea is to find the
- 45:03werewolves before the clock expires.
- 45:07Traders is the same premise.
- 45:08Everybody's blindfolded.
- 45:10They identify three people to be a
- 45:11traitor.
- 45:12And then the game show is find the
- 45:15traitors before the end of the game.
- 45:17If you expose all the traitors, you,
- 45:20the faithful, win the money and split it.
- 45:24If a traitor is left or more,
- 45:26they win the money and they get to
- 45:28take it.
- 45:30So the game is won by a woman
- 45:34who played the game super well.
- 45:36She was a traitor.
- 45:38And everybody after the show was over was
- 45:41so pissed that she was lying and
- 45:43deceiving.
- 45:44And I'm like,
- 45:48you signed up for this game.
- 45:50The game was that three people had to
- 45:52hide amongst you and not let you know
- 45:55that they're a traitor so they could win.
- 45:59And the fact that you're now pissed that
- 46:02that person lied to you to get to
- 46:05the end is just baffling to me.
- 46:08Where are we in this world where you
- 46:11think that that should be fair?
- 46:13You signed up for a game show where
- 46:16the object is to lie to get to
- 46:18the end and be one of the surviving
- 46:21traitors and not get eliminated so that
- 46:24the faithful don't win.
- 46:27And when the traitor won,
- 46:29everybody's upset that that person
- 46:33bamboozled them and didn't allow them to
- 46:37identify her as a traitor.
- 46:42Jody, it's the first one.
- 46:45Traitor.
- 46:46T-R-A-I-T-O-R.
- 46:52And I just,
- 46:54I could not believe my ears.
- 46:55Like, I know I'm the old guy screaming,
- 47:00get off my lawn and screaming at the
- 47:02clouds.
- 47:03But good God, people, get a backbone,
- 47:06get a skin, a thick skin.
- 47:09Like,
- 47:09this is utterly ridiculous that you're out
- 47:12here bitching and moaning because the
- 47:14woman played the game like it was supposed
- 47:16to be played.
- 47:18Yes, Frida,
- 47:20it's time for the young to grow a
- 47:21spine.
- 47:24Don't hate the player, hate the game.
- 47:26That is actually what one of the
- 47:28contestants said to the whiners and
- 47:30moaners.
- 47:31And she lost too.
- 47:33She said, don't hate the player,
- 47:34hate the game.
- 47:35She played the game the way it was
- 47:36supposed to be played,
- 47:38and you're pissed that she deceived you.
- 47:44Andrew Sten,
- 47:45grew up in the participation trophy era.
- 47:46Everyone has to win something.
- 47:48Yes.
- 47:48Yes.
- 47:51Uh, Jeremy,
- 47:52I'm forty and I'm already that guy.
- 47:54Yep.
- 47:54Joy.
- 47:55Thanks.
- 47:55Welcome in.
- 47:56Welcome into the club.
- 48:00Yeah.
- 48:00Everybody has to win something or it's
- 48:01unfair.
- 48:06Yeah,
- 48:07it was actually a very riveting show.
- 48:09I love the strategy of the traders.
- 48:11I thought they were smart.
- 48:12I thought they were calculated because
- 48:15every night they have to murder somebody
- 48:17and they're eliminated from the game.
- 48:19And because of who they murder,
- 48:21that's a clue as to who they are.
- 48:23And they were so calculated and strategic
- 48:28about it.
- 48:28It made watching it very,
- 48:30very fun for me.
- 48:31Um, and the one,
- 48:34the woman who won was freaking awesome.
- 48:37Like everything was well thought out.
- 48:39She knew what she was getting into.
- 48:41She knew how to deceive them.
- 48:43She knew how to throw them off her
- 48:45scent.
- 48:46It was, it was awesome.
- 48:51And she had played other reality.
- 48:53So half of the contestants were just
- 48:55regular Joes.
- 48:56The other half were people who played
- 48:57other reality games like Survivor or Big
- 49:00Brother or those.
- 49:02And she had been on other shows where
- 49:04she had made it to the end and
- 49:05let her emotions take over and she ended
- 49:07up losing.
- 49:08And this time she did not let that
- 49:10happen.
- 49:10She was not going to let it happen
- 49:11again.
- 49:12And because of that,
- 49:13she was freaking awesome.
- 49:19So don't be a bitch.
- 49:23Take your grain of salt,
- 49:24whatever that you lost, move on,
- 49:27and that's where we're going to end
- 49:28today's show.
- 49:29So toughen up, get some thick skin,
- 49:31and let is... Frida,
- 49:35I stopped crying about fairness when I was
- 49:36six.
- 49:38Yeah,
- 49:39my mother did not tolerate it's unfair.
- 49:43She just didn't.
- 49:46We were not allowed to say that word.
- 49:49We weren't allowed to say I'm bored either
- 49:50because if we said we were bored,
- 49:51we got stuff to do.
- 49:57Stay hard.
- 49:57There we go.
- 49:59There we go, Jeremy.
- 50:02All right, guys.
- 50:03This has been awesome.
- 50:04I got to get back to work.
- 50:05You guys are the best.
- 50:07Love you all.
- 50:08I'll be back tomorrow.
- 50:09We'll see you then.
- 50:11Cannot wait.
- 50:12Have a great day.
