- 0:00Everyone else in the lesbian clubs, drinking champagne,
- 0:02having fun. These four are plotting
- 0:04something horrendous, Yeah. Gee, hey everyone, thanks for
- 0:13listening to Gasp. There's Been a Murder.
- 0:17This week's very spooky Halloween episode of GASP the
- 0:22Pod, a podcast for the gays, the girls and especially the gay
- 0:26girls. This is not a usual episode of
- 0:28guests. I have a special guest, my
- 0:30lovely girlfriend Sophia, joining us again, Sophia say.
- 0:33Hi to everyone, I'm very excited to be here.
- 0:37Happy Halloween. Yay, Thanks for coming on the
- 0:40flock. Very.
- 0:41Excited to be here. I feel like honored.
- 0:43Sophia has not been on since very early on in Season 1.
- 0:47And yesterday Sophia was like, I'm down to being a podcast.
- 0:52If you'd have me back, I'd have me.
- 0:53I'd love to be. Back on if you'd have.
- 0:55Me and I was like perfect, you should come on for this
- 0:57Halloween episode. Both me and Sophia are big true
- 1:00crime listeners podcast wise and I thought it'd be very fun
- 1:05Halloween episode for me to tell a true true Crime Story that
- 1:10Sophia does not know about and hopefully.
- 1:13I probably don't, I am a big true crime listener, but I think
- 1:18that this is probably 1 I haven't heard.
- 1:19I think so too. Well, I'll be telling a true
- 1:21Crime Story today. How this is going to work is
- 1:24Sophia doesn't know this crime and she will operate as Brit
- 1:29from the Crime Junkies if you guys are Crime Junkie listeners,
- 1:33and I will operate as your Ashley Flowers pretty much
- 1:36telling the story. Sophia gets to go what?
- 1:40And that's the plan. Love, I'm very, very excited and
- 1:43great kind of scared. Don't be scared no for the
- 1:46story, right? And it is Halloween, so This is
- 1:50why we're telling a scary spooky ooky gay gas worthy story.
- 1:56Some warnings. This, obviously because it is a
- 1:59murder, will include violence, murder, assault, graphic
- 2:03language and bad representation for the lesbian community.
- 2:08More warnings. We do not condone violence in
- 2:10any form and I try to cover the details of this case, but if I
- 2:14get anything wrong I'm so sorry. But I tried my best using real
- 2:17sources. There's been a murder.
- 2:21It is a quiet morning in Australia, Brisbane, Saturday
- 2:28the 21st of October, much like an October morning of this week.
- 2:33It is 1989 and when rowers training with by the Brisbane
- 2:38River in the southern suburb of Hill End.
- 2:41OK, it's 1989. OK, isn't that interesting.
- 2:44Also 1989, I chose it on purpose.
- 2:47Just kidding. It was around 6:15 AM when they
- 2:50observed the rowers. Something on the banks of the
- 2:53river. What was on the banks of the
- 2:54river? A body.
- 2:56Yeah, As they got closer, they recoiled in horror to see that
- 3:01it was the body of a man. The body was transported to the
- 3:05Medical Examiner's office where it was found that the man has
- 3:08stabbed in his back as well as his chest and side.
- 3:12His throat had also been slashed and his head was almost severed.
- 3:18The body was identified as 47 year old Edward Baldock and
- 3:22Edward was a Brisbane council worker and father and
- 3:26grandfather. What unravels in this case is
- 3:29now known as one of the most sinister and shocking murders in
- 3:34Australian history. Let's get into it.
- 3:36Who could have done this crime? Sophia, before we get into this
- 3:40very, very quickly updates on the podcast.
- 3:43If you are listening to this or watching this and you've not
- 3:45subscribed on YouTube, you know now I'm hammering at people to
- 3:48do it. However, it's because I have so
- 3:50many more listeners on other places rather than YouTube and
- 3:53I'm wanting to grow my YouTube channel.
- 3:55So please subscribe on YouTube and then also I have bonus
- 3:58content on Patreon, so go check that out.
- 4:01I have a whole bonus episode on the fate of Ophelia and I'm
- 4:03going to release another one next week as well.
- 4:06So if you need content in between normal episodes, go to
- 4:11my Patreon and you'll find it there.
- 4:13So let's get into the investigation.
- 4:15Investigators are trying to establish the timeline leading
- 4:19up to Edward being found on the river.
- 4:21OK, They know that it's him. They know it's him.
- 4:25They have no idea what he was doing, how he got there and who
- 4:30killed him. They determined eventually that
- 4:32he had left his home by talking to his family in the suburb of
- 4:35West End at around 7:00 PM on Friday evening.
- 4:39He then got a taxi and went to the Caledonian Club where he
- 4:43spent the night drinking. He left at around 11:00 PM, but
- 4:47what happened between then and the time that he was body was
- 4:51found is a mystery as investigators are now trying to
- 4:55establish a timeline. They examined the crime scene.
- 4:58Police searched the area and found his wallet with $35.00
- 5:01cash in it, and alongside his body were his shoes and his
- 5:07clothes, neatly folded into a. Pile.
- 5:11That makes me think maybe he took it off and went swimming or
- 5:14something. Maybe.
- 5:15Perhaps inside one of his shoes, though, they found a bank card.
- 5:20OK. It belonged to a woman and that
- 5:24woman is 24 year old Tracy Wigginton.
- 5:28Tracy's credit card was in his pocket.
- 5:31Yeah, we don't know who Tracy is.
- 5:33No idea. So the police go to Tracy
- 5:36Wigginton's apartment. They find her because her card
- 5:40is now in a dead man's shoe, right?
- 5:42Doesn't look good, right? Wigginton tells the police that
- 5:46she had been down near the river but knew nothing of the murder.
- 5:51The police are fully convinced. What?
- 5:54Yes, they were the police. The police thought that this
- 5:57woman was not capable of the violence that had occurred.
- 6:00That's crazy. It is crazy.
- 6:02However, she was arrested that afternoon.
- 6:05She's denying the crime. Next, she's confessing to
- 6:10murdering Edward along with her 25 year old girlfriend Lisa
- 6:16Tachinksi and two of their friends, 24 year old Tracy Wo
- 6:21and her girlfriend, 24 year old Kim Jervis.
- 6:25What a band of lesbians. So it goes from her being
- 6:29interrogated to I was there at the river but I had nothing to
- 6:32do with it. So then me and my girlfriend and
- 6:35two of our other friends killed this guy.
- 6:37Yes, but the question is what is the motive?
- 6:41Why did she murder this man? This point people have no idea
- 6:45why she would have known him, right?
- 6:48We have no connection. Obviously she wasn't dating him,
- 6:51right? She's a lesbian.
- 6:52What the heck? So Tracy Wiginton has now
- 6:55confessed to murder, but who is she?
- 6:58Why? What was the motive and what
- 7:00really happened that night? Seriously.
- 7:03OK, let's learn about a little bit more about Tracy Wigginton
- 7:06who was born on August 4th, 1965.
- 7:08She was adopted when her mother, Rhonda Hopkins, could no longer
- 7:12cope after her first marriage broke up.
- 7:15She was left $75,000 inheritance.
- 7:18OK. She returned to live briefly
- 7:20with Rhonda Hopkins, who would later say she did not accept her
- 7:23daughter's lesbianism. Oh.
- 7:26Yeah, I think she's fine. She's a murderer.
- 7:28Right. Well, right.
- 7:29Begins and moved in with a family friend.
- 7:31Lived with her until she was 20 and the family friend described
- 7:35her as a loving girl, gifted artist and devout Catholic.
- 7:39Interesting, but she's out at this point.
- 7:42I don't know if she's out to everyone.
- 7:44OK. I don't know what was out back
- 7:46then. Sure.
- 7:47But, and I guess you can be a Catholic lesbian, sure, kind of
- 7:51hard to come by. But I'm a Catholic bisexual.
- 7:53Yeah, it happened. Cultural Catholic.
- 7:55Play about me. I didn't murder anyone.
- 7:57Not in 1982. Wiginton cut her hair short and
- 8:00began calling herself Bobby. OK, so she's a Butch.
- 8:03She had met a woman called Sunshine.
- 8:06OK. Which is a lot.
- 8:08Wiginton worked as a bouncer at a club.
- 8:11She dressed all in black, giving indie witchy vibes.
- 8:15She had a collar, which supposedly only Sunshine had a
- 8:18key for. So they're into some kinks
- 8:21again. This is a bad look for the kink
- 8:23community for sure. And at one point, Wigginton
- 8:27sought out a man to make her pregnant so that she and
- 8:29Sunshine could have a child. She did get pregnant, but then
- 8:32miscarried. Are you understanding the vibe
- 8:34of her? I'm getting it, yeah.
- 8:35Are you locked in? I'm locked.
- 8:38I'm wondering if there's any connection between Edward, the
- 8:42man who was found and Tracy wanting another baby.
- 8:45Like finding wanting to find a man to give them.
- 8:48That's a very good idea. Like maybe they cross paths
- 8:53somewhere, like in a social setting or something.
- 8:55Perhaps what actually happened that night?
- 8:58You tell me. I'm going to tell you right now,
- 9:00OK, according to Tracy. So she's pulled in police
- 9:03interview right now. We kind of have an understanding
- 9:05of Tracy. We're back into the police
- 9:08station. She starts telling the police
- 9:11everything. She tells police she is a
- 9:15vampire that fed on human blood. What?
- 9:23Are you kidding me? Sorry.
- 9:24I shouldn't laugh, but it's crazy.
- 9:25Are you kidding? I'm not kidding.
- 9:27That's what she tells police. And what do they say?
- 9:30Do they believe her? Yeah.
- 9:32They do. I'm shocked.
- 9:35Yeah. She's like genuinely telling
- 9:37them she's a vampire. Wait did he have?
- 9:39I mean I know he was like horribly murdered but did he
- 9:42have any wounds that would they would think like not vampire
- 9:46like? Not necessarily.
- 9:47He did not have bite marks. OK.
- 9:49From what I've seen and read, I do not think he had bite marks.
- 9:53OK, heard of a vampire before? I have, yeah, I've ever heard I
- 9:59meant a vampire crime. I have heard of a vampire.
- 10:02OK, so now I'm going to tell you what actually happened that
- 10:04night, what Tracy confesses and from what her friends confess as
- 10:09well. OK, now knowing that she is a
- 10:11vampire. It's Friday, October 20th, 1989.
- 10:15There's a moon waning in the sky.
- 10:17It is 80% visible. Are you scared?
- 10:20I'm terrified. You should be scared of
- 10:21vampires. I'm terrified of vampires.
- 10:23Council worker Edward Baldock is searching for a taxi.
- 10:27He is a 47 year old father of four.
- 10:30He had been out drinking and playing darts at the Caledonian
- 10:33Club in Kangaroo Point. He is just trying to have a fun
- 10:37time, a fun night, and he's caught in the wrong place at the
- 10:40wrong time. Grandfather at 47.
- 10:43Very young to be grandfather. A kindly man was intoxicated and
- 10:47holding on to lampposts as he made his way down O'Connell St.
- 10:51not long before. Midnight.
- 10:53Do we know anything about like this area O'Connell St.
- 10:56Like it's just bars, pubs. OK.
- 10:57I don't know anything, but I'm sure others do.
- 11:00It was then that a green Holden Commodore pulled up beside him,
- 11:05full of lesbians. That's when you should.
- 11:08Run Tracy and Just Kidding group, Yes.
- 11:11Inside the car were four women. 24 year old Tracy Wigginton
- 11:16called out to the man. She's young, 24 is.
- 11:20Young. They're all very young.
- 11:21Earlier that night, what were the women doing?
- 11:23What were the lesbians doing? They were drinking champagne at
- 11:25the lesbian club Lou Morris in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley.
- 11:30Bad representation for lesbian clubs and lesbians.
- 11:32Not a good one. No, Wigginton had been burning
- 11:36with anger all day, plotting and planning.
- 11:40What? She was out on the hunt for a
- 11:43victim. Was she so angry?
- 11:45I mean vampires maybe run. Angry.
- 11:47She's just angry. So she was out on the hunt for a
- 11:49victim. Got it.
- 11:50That's terrifying. Lesbian vampire out in the
- 11:53streets of Australia is terrifying.
- 11:55Yes it is, and it was almost Halloween, which is also scary.
- 11:59So Tracy Avril Wigginton was a fan of the occult who claimed to
- 12:05be a vampire with a quote. Need to feed on animal or human
- 12:10blood? What the?
- 12:13Either type of blood. That's really scary.
- 12:15I mean, that is something I guess you see with like
- 12:17murderers and like people, like they harm animals and stuff like
- 12:21I. Wonder, but you usually don't
- 12:22have a need to feed. I was gonna say that's that's
- 12:25definitely unique. So 2 weeks earlier she had met
- 12:28Chichinsky and started it. So that's the other girl in the
- 12:32car? That's her girlfriend?
- 12:33Yes, and they had started an affair, even though Wigginton
- 12:36still lived with another lover. Is this sunshine or this is?
- 12:41I don't know if it's sunshine, I think it might be someone else.
- 12:43Gotcha. So she's a cheater as well.
- 12:46She was cheating on her partner with Tichinsky.
- 12:49Yeah, I think it's Tichinsky. You're telling me that
- 12:52Wiggington is a vampire, a murder and a cheater?
- 12:55Yes. It's like a lot.
- 12:58It's triple homicide. It's a.
- 13:00Lot of things. Yeah, it's not 3 Not good things
- 13:03and a lesbian. I'm just kidding.
- 13:04I'll take that out. So they're driving around that
- 13:07night and then what else happens?
- 13:09OK, so Wigginton was in a very emotional place at this point.
- 13:16She's looking to feed and. Apparently, Wigginton said that
- 13:20her partner or I don't know if this is sunshine, whoever she'd
- 13:24been living with her like girlfriend, had a wandering eye,
- 13:27and it made Tracy very angry, culminating that Friday in a
- 13:30feeling that she had that was a, quote, emotional volcano.
- 13:35Oh, so it sounds like when she's just like feeling tumultuous any
- 13:38other time she needs to feed. She needs to feed, right?
- 13:41Like it's like being hangry. Right, but times a million.
- 13:46Right. So anyways, Wigington arranges
- 13:49to meet Tchinsky, and Tchinsky is an unstable woman who has
- 13:54been hospitalized. Get this?
- 13:56Guess how many times 580? What?
- 14:0180 times. 80 separate occasions this woman has been
- 14:04hospitalized. For drug overdoses, 80 times.
- 14:08Oh my. Gosh, so that's a very.
- 14:11Right. And before you say, oh, wait,
- 14:14were these people, like, all innocent?
- 14:17No. It's not like these other
- 14:19lesbians are innocent either, right?
- 14:21It's really crazy. So who else was in the car?
- 14:24Kim Jervis and Tracy, Another Tracy.
- 14:27Whoa. Lovers.
- 14:29Both aged 23. OK, they had already been drawn
- 14:33into weakened tins. Satanic.
- 14:36Cult that was going to be my question.
- 14:37Are they? Is everyone part of the vampire
- 14:41cult? They are all in this cult.
- 14:42Scott. Yes.
- 14:43They're all needing to feed on this night.
- 14:45Presumably, it seems like only Wigginton wants to feed and
- 14:50needs to feed. She's like the ringleader of the
- 14:52group. Gotcha.
- 14:54Wigginton, who had had several personalities, including an
- 14:58alter ego Bobby. So again, maybe this alter ego
- 15:01wasn't just her being Butch, maybe it was because she was
- 15:03like had alter egos. Yeah, it sounds like.
- 15:06It right had convinced Tychinsky to slit her veins to be sucked
- 15:11for blood. Oh my.
- 15:15OK so is Wingington. Oh my God I have like the creeps
- 15:20is Bobby. I wonder if Bobby the alter ego
- 15:23is the vampire or if it's. Just I wonder if she was Bobby
- 15:26that night. Tracy all the time as a vampire
- 15:29and only And did did to Chinsky do it?
- 15:33Did she slit her wrist for Bobby the Vampire to drink?
- 15:35I believe, yes. I believe so.
- 15:37Oh, my. So, yeah.
- 15:38I don't know which personality she was in when she did the
- 15:41murdering. It's unclear.
- 15:42I don't think the police, like, wrote that down.
- 15:44Seriously. It's like, oh, Bobby did the
- 15:46murder. Right.
- 15:47But maybe if you asked her seriously because she is still
- 15:50alive. Wow.
- 15:51Right. So.
- 15:53Whoa. A shy Catholic private
- 15:55schoolgirl. I know there's a lot of
- 15:57Catholics in Australia, so it's really crazy.
- 15:59They're they're Catholic Australians that get involved in
- 16:03a lesbian murder. Satanic.
- 16:05Cult. I wonder if the I mean yeah, the
- 16:06like the vampire cult has like religious undertones in some
- 16:11way. I don't know, but again, really
- 16:13bad for in anyone indie or anyone like Into Witches and
- 16:18anyone who's a lesbian, because in Australia, the press about
- 16:22this. OK, I'll get to there in a
- 16:23second. So Whoa believes that Wigginton
- 16:27was the quote the Devil's bride, and was also believed that she
- 16:31was telepathic and could make her body disappear, leaving only
- 16:35cat's eyes. Wait, I'm sorry.
- 16:39Just want to make sure I'm getting this.
- 16:41Yeah, OK, so she said. Whoa, Tracy.
- 16:44Whoa. The other yeah, 23 year old
- 16:46girl. She said she believed that
- 16:48Wiginton you could make herself disappear but the only thing you
- 16:52could see of her is cats eyes. Cats eye the band.
- 16:56No cats eyes. But yes again they all really
- 17:00believe that she is has a real need for blood because she is a
- 17:05real vampire. Jervis had been told after
- 17:08breaking a crucifix necklace that she was a chosen 1.
- 17:13So they're all part of this cult now.
- 17:15Really like into it right? Jervis believed that she was a
- 17:19destroyer in the Witch's Circle of Wiginton, who had the power
- 17:23to RIP the arms off of anyone who'd stopped her from feeding
- 17:27on blood. Oh my.
- 17:28OK so this is a like crazy band of pals that are just like
- 17:33roaming the streets in Australia.
- 17:34And no one's aware. And they're just in the happy go
- 17:37lucky lesbian club and no one realizes that, right?
- 17:40These bitches, right? Everyone else in the lesbian
- 17:42club's drinking champagne, having fun.
- 17:44These four are plotting something horrendous.
- 17:47Yeah. Gee, all right, let's go back to
- 17:49the actual night of the crime. So they have just spotted him
- 17:52walking on the street, right? Edward Wigginton I'm now going
- 17:56to quote some of her quotes about it.
- 17:58Well, he was drunk walking down the street and again later.
- 18:02Edwards family has said that they are frustrated that a lot
- 18:05of this news has like painted him as this like drunk, which it
- 18:08so happened that he was drunk that night or maybe coming home
- 18:11from the bar. But it doesn't mean he was a
- 18:13drunk. Right, it's a Friday night.
- 18:15He's just like going to the pub to get some drinking plates of
- 18:17darts like that doesn't mean he. Right.
- 18:20So quote, he was the one. I don't know why he just was
- 18:25she's so crazy. She quote I told Lisa stop the
- 18:29car. Kim got in the front seat and he
- 18:32got in the back. I told her to go to the West End
- 18:34near the big shed. Quote They all knew something
- 18:38was up. I didn't have to say a thing.
- 18:40It's like they were very aware that this was happening and that
- 18:43she needed to suck the human's blood.
- 18:48Oh, that's so creepy that they were like, and it's almost kind
- 18:51of like they were like, oh, that's she's our leader.
- 18:53Like she'll be more powerful if we get her blood.
- 18:56Dude, right? Oh, that's so weird.
- 18:59SAR Edward got in the car. He had a blood alcohol level of
- 19:030.31. The four women pulled up
- 19:05alongside him. We're unsure about what the
- 19:08women said to him in order to get him in the car, but people
- 19:11think that they may have like promised him sex because he took
- 19:16he took off his clothes later. We think that he did did take
- 19:20his own clothes off. OK.
- 19:21They drove Edward to a deserted Yacht Club.
- 19:24Wigginton and Edward got out of the car, walked to the Yacht
- 19:28Club. Now we're getting to the crime.
- 19:30Yeah. Moments later, Wigginton
- 19:32returned and said this guy is too strong, I'll need help.
- 19:36Oh my gosh. So she presumably went to try to
- 19:39attack him over by the Yacht Club and then like left him
- 19:42because he was like, too strong and.
- 19:43Maybe just realized that he was just kind of strong, I don't
- 19:46know. Both Wiginton and Tachinsky were
- 19:49armed with knives. So So Petachinsky and Jervis
- 19:51followed Wiginton back to Edward.
- 19:54At this point, Edward was sitting naked on the riverbank.
- 19:56Wiginton took the knife from Tachinsky.
- 20:00And came up behind Edward and began to stab him as Dachinsky
- 20:03and Jervis held him down. Oh my gosh, that's.
- 20:07Horrible, Wigginton recalled as the murder quote.
- 20:10I walked around him, I took my knife out of my back pocket.
- 20:12I said nothing and stabbed him. Oh my gosh.
- 20:16It's just. Cold blooded like.
- 20:18And so as you said, you're wondering if there was bite
- 20:21marks on him. There wasn't.
- 20:23But as Edward bled to death, Wigginton smoked a cigarette and
- 20:28watched. She later said she felt nothing.
- 20:31Obviously like a psychopath. Once Edward was deceased,
- 20:35Wigginton then drink the blood that was spilling out.
- 20:39Oh. My gosh.
- 20:42It's so fucking horrible. Like what do you mean you're a
- 20:46disgusting vampire? What the fuck?
- 20:48You're not a vampire, You're right.
- 20:51That's just a. Psychopath.
- 20:53Yeah, you're like a capable psychopath.
- 20:55Insane. Jervis said of the situation
- 20:58that Wigginton looked like quote a person would if they had just
- 21:02sat down to a three course dinner.
- 21:04Let's remember that Jervis and all these women are so a part of
- 21:07it. It's not like they're like, Oh
- 21:08my God, it was so disgusting and horrible.
- 21:10Like you helped. You were down for this.
- 21:13You helped murder. All accomplices in it and
- 21:16murders and murders. Stop someone.
- 21:18Well, the other one stopped. Question did they drink any
- 21:21blood? It was only Wigginton that drank
- 21:25the blood. OK, OK, Tachinsky.
- 21:27And this is like, the grossest part, I think.
- 21:29Tachinsky returned to the car. Yeah.
- 21:31Leaving Wigginton to drink her victim's blood.
- 21:33After 15 minutes, she also returned to the car, having
- 21:37washed herself and the knives in the river.
- 21:39As the girls drove off, Woe could smell blood on Wigginton's
- 21:43breath. Oh my gosh, that's crazy.
- 21:47I was going to say like, maybe she didn't actually drink the
- 21:50blood and she's just. Like no like right.
- 21:52Right. You know, she's like, OK, guys,
- 21:53I got a scary yeah and then just stayed over there and, like,
- 21:57washed off in the river, but like.
- 21:58No, she. Smelled.
- 21:59Oh my, that is my actually makes me want.
- 22:02To I know, I know. She arrived back in her flat in
- 22:04the northwestern Brisbane suburb of in Noguera.
- 22:07Wigginton realized she had left behind her Commonwealth Bank key
- 22:11card and before dawn, went back to the crime scene to search for
- 22:17it and didn't find it. And they said, and you said they
- 22:21found it in his shoes, so it somehow just must.
- 22:24Have I have no idea how it got in his shoes?
- 22:25Isn't that weird? But she couldn't find it.
- 22:27No, she couldn't find it. Well, her flatmate said that
- 22:30Wigginton had looked sick and pale with vacant eyes, like a
- 22:33zombie. OK, moving on to arrests and the
- 22:37trial. So what happened after this?
- 22:39Following the women's arrest, they were separated and
- 22:41interviewed. They all contended that
- 22:43Wigginton was the ringleader and described her as as a vampire.
- 22:46So they're all like, Yep, she's a vampire.
- 22:47They all agree. They said that she's lived on
- 22:49human blood. Over the course of the
- 22:51friendship, Wigginton had told her three accomplices that she
- 22:55had the ability to disappear except for her cat's eyes.
- 22:57Which is just like, so funny 'cause it's like, no, you can't.
- 23:00They also said that she avoided mirrors.
- 23:02Oh my gosh, she's like, and I can't eat garlic too because I'm
- 23:06allergic to garlic, you know? Crazy like she's like a
- 23:08manipulator, like cult leader. According to the women,
- 23:11Wigginton had told them that she could not eat solid food and
- 23:14survive solely on blood. Liar.
- 23:16You're she's a liar. You're a liar.
- 23:18Chichinsky revealed that before the murder, Wigginton had drank
- 23:21her blood from cuts in her hand and then progressed to
- 23:23Chichinsky using a tourniquet to pump up the veins in her arms
- 23:26that Wigginton could drink the blood more easily.
- 23:29Oh my God, she's like. She's literally like a fucking
- 23:33cannibal vampire. Whoa confirmed this blood
- 23:36drinking but said that Tchinsky had a quote weak heart and
- 23:39couldn't give her any more blood.
- 23:40It's like, well, you're drinking all of her goddamn blood, do
- 23:42you? Think she was actually drinking
- 23:44her blood? It seems like, yeah, it seems
- 23:47like these women are saying, yeah.
- 23:48I mean, I don't think she was a vampire.
- 23:49Right, no, I, but right, OK. I don't know how much, right,
- 23:52right. OK.
- 23:53And again, it was probably like a intimidation tactic and also
- 23:57to, like, weaken her. Like, she also was probably a
- 23:59cannibal. Like, yeah.
- 24:00Wiginton and Tichinsky, at this point had only met a week prior.
- 24:03What? And almost as soon as they met,
- 24:05Wiginton began planning the murder.
- 24:07She said that the murder would satisfy her quote craving for
- 24:10blood. And Tichinsky was probably like,
- 24:13great, you'll stop taking my blood, right?
- 24:14We'll give you someone else. Following Wiginton's arrest, she
- 24:18was asked by Detective Senior Constable Danny Murdoch.
- 24:22Murdoch, have you been involved in this sort of thing before?
- 24:24She replied. Only when I was young, I would
- 24:26sacrifice goats. So as you said before, like,
- 24:28sometimes these murderers are, like, violent at a young age.
- 24:31Yeah. According to her three
- 24:32defendants, they had never seen Wiginton eat.
- 24:34But maybe she's just doing that in front of them.
- 24:36Also, she just met Tichinsky a week before, right?
- 24:38So Tracy Wiginton ultimately pleaded guilty to the murder and
- 24:42was handed a life sentence. She enjoyed the notoriety of all
- 24:47the fame because in Australia this became huge especially with
- 24:51the fact they were like ex Catholics and they were all
- 24:53lesbians and they were witches and in a cold huge.
- 24:57Headline story. Right.
- 24:58And just like demonizing the same things that are already
- 25:01like demonizing and like using this as evidence for why they
- 25:04should demonize it. But she really enjoyed the fame
- 25:08and said to the media quote, it's hard to be famous.
- 25:11Isn't it a legend in my own mind?
- 25:13Oh, that's so. Annoying such a narcissistic
- 25:15freak. That's so annoying.
- 25:17The murder trial for the other three women began in February
- 25:201991 and they were called the Lesbian Vampire Trial.
- 25:25Yeah, that's going to. Fittingly.
- 25:27Yeah, that's going to make headlines, right?
- 25:28The trial was a sensation with the courtroom pact.
- 25:31The coverage of the hearings was like played around the world.
- 25:35The murder was described as quote one of the most brutal and
- 25:37bizarre crimes Australia has ever seen.
- 25:40Have I never heard of this? I know, I think it's.
- 25:42Australia and I guess we're just like too focused on like
- 25:45American shit. Jervis was convicted of
- 25:48manslaughter and sentenced to 18 years.
- 25:51Woe was acquitted of all charges, which, like, one of an
- 25:54accomplice is crazy. And for Tchinsky, she was
- 25:58convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison
- 26:01because she stabbed him as well, right, in 2008.
- 26:03And it's interesting that, like, mostly Tracy has gone the
- 26:06notoriety and like, the background here, which is kind
- 26:09of interesting, I guess, because she was like, the ringleader of
- 26:11the cult. And in 2008, Tchinsky was then
- 26:14released from prison. What?
- 26:16Yeah. So she was handed down a life
- 26:19sentence. But they must have.
- 26:20Just like like out on parole or something.
- 26:23So let's talk about Tracy in prison because it the story
- 26:27doesn't really end 1991. Tracy's mother, Rhonda Hopkins,
- 26:33an interview in which she refuted the claims of her
- 26:36daughter being a vampire and said, quote, she told me she
- 26:38didn't drink blood and I believe her.
- 26:41All right, Queen quote. When she was a kid, she can
- 26:44never stand the sight of blood. She and her lover were both
- 26:48country girls and we're not part of the city lesbian community in
- 26:51Brisbane. I'm very against the lesbian
- 26:53community. OK, so she's just trying to
- 26:54like, refute probably all of the things about Wigington to like,
- 26:58save her in her image. And also in her brain too, right
- 27:03in the women's prison, the Brisbane women's prison that
- 27:05Wiggington was in, she helped run the library.
- 27:08But one former inmate said that she was not like the other
- 27:11girls. She would sit there for hours,
- 27:14quote rolling marbles and grating her tea.
- 27:17Oh. Well, she also rolls the silver
- 27:19foil from cigarette packets round and turns it in her hand
- 27:22until it disintegrates. Just like a freak.
- 27:24Yes, she's. Really, really crazy quote.
- 27:27She's. Evil.
- 27:27She's a strange person in the world of her own.
- 27:30Then, in an interview with the Courier Mail from behind bars in
- 27:341996, Wiginton said that she was, in a, quote, blind fury as
- 27:38she stabbed Mr. Baldock. Wait.
- 27:40She said that in the moments that she was taking his life,
- 27:42released repressed rage from a childhood and filled with abuse.
- 27:47Isn't that so unfair? A lot of people have abuse and
- 27:49they don't murder people. The vast majority, right, Right.
- 27:53So it's like, that's so. It's not like there's many
- 27:56lesbian murderers, quote, she said about the murder.
- 27:59Quote. Murder is a terrifying
- 28:01experience. Bitch, you did it right.
- 28:04Just for you. Well, it's also really
- 28:06interesting because like right after she's saying like, oh, I
- 28:09didn't feel anything like. I'm like, oh, now all of a
- 28:13sudden in 2006, Wigington assaulted a police officer and
- 28:17another inmate. Like, also people that she did a
- 28:21violent murder, it's not surprising.
- 28:23And routinely applied for parole.
- 28:25And then on the 11th of January, 2012, yeah, that parole was
- 28:29granted. What?
- 28:31She served 25 years in prison. You're kidding.
- 28:33I'm not kidding. And she's out.
- 28:34Yeah, she's out in the streets of Australia.
- 28:37No, yeah. So be careful.
- 28:39Out there. Oh my gosh, I'm scared.
- 28:42She didn't go silently. Oh, I do think there's something
- 28:45to be said for a woman being maybe treated as like less
- 28:49violent. Like I'm sure they were like,
- 28:51oh, look at this old woman now. She should like be let out.
- 28:55To get her. Get her on parole.
- 28:56You know, which is insane. Right.
- 28:59She's a sadistic vampire, So out from behind bars, Wigginton
- 29:04maintained a low profile when she got out of prison until
- 29:072019. Oh my gosh.
- 29:09When she shared on Facebook account that people have tracked
- 29:13to her, she shared chilling images encouraging people to
- 29:18quote panic because I'm back. What are you kidding me?
- 29:24Like, it's so scary. That's.
- 29:29And This is why she shouldn't have been let out of prison.
- 29:31Well, right. There are many reasons why she
- 29:33shouldn't have been let out. This is.
- 29:35This is crazy. So watch her back Australia.
- 29:38Sorry I feel bad for Australia. You guys will be OK I.
- 29:41Think how old is she now? I don't know, maybe in her 50s
- 29:45on the Facebook page with the name of one of her alter egos,
- 29:49she posted pictures of vampires, which is demons and a pile of
- 29:53skull, skulls and bones, with some saying that they think that
- 29:57these are real human remains. Oh.
- 29:59My gosh. And the reason why people think
- 30:01that is that when her apartment was searched, they found
- 30:04pictures of grave sites. They think there maybe is more
- 30:08than they don't know. I don't obviously, I have no
- 30:10idea like there could be more victims and she kind of seems
- 30:13like the person that just wants to like.
- 30:15Fear monger and scare people Yeah one post made reference to
- 30:18eating people saying this is actually crazy Sylvia this is
- 30:22crazy quote. Do not meddle with the affairs
- 30:25of Dragons, for you are crunchy and good with.
- 30:28Ketchup. Oh my gosh.
- 30:30What? Sorry, I'm like just trying to
- 30:33collect myself. I'm speechless.
- 30:35Jeez. No, please.
- 30:37This is a really horrible. And again, it's still like, how
- 30:40is this still on? How is this allowed to be
- 30:42posted? The News interviewed Edward
- 30:44Baldock's daughter Tracy, who said about his daughter's name
- 30:47is Tracy. Yeah, there's 3 Tracy's in this
- 30:51story. I think Tracy's just a very
- 30:52common name in the 80s. Yeah, that's just like really
- 30:54sad. I.
- 30:55Know it is who said Wigginton should have stayed in prison
- 30:58forever, and the whole family told 9 News that they find her
- 31:02post very distressing. Yeah she is out of prison
- 31:07walking Australia streets as a quote vampire.
- 31:11I wonder if she still requires blood to live.
- 31:14Seemed like she was fine in prison when she didn't get
- 31:15blood. Wait, that's so right, Right,
- 31:18right. So I don't think you actually do
- 31:20need. Blood.
- 31:20So I think she's fine. Oh.
- 31:21My gosh. Oh my gosh, that's right, right.
- 31:24But yes, the, the Baldock family has expressed that it's very
- 31:27frustrating that she's posting this and it's very scary that
- 31:32she's posting this. And, you know, they want to tell
- 31:35the story of like their father, their grandfather, who was a lot
- 31:40more than a victim of a insane vampire, who he was a father to
- 31:45five and a grandfather to two. He was a man who loved his job,
- 31:49the beach and his family. He had a lot to live for.
- 31:52And it was taken from him. And his daughter still
- 31:54remembers, after 30 years how dedicated her dad was to his.
- 31:57Family, right? That's so sad.
- 31:59He was so young too. It was so sad.
- 32:01That's horrible. So in closing, that is the story
- 32:04of the vampire, lesbian killer and the family man who was in
- 32:07the wrong place at the wrong time.
- 32:08Heartbreaking. Yeah.
- 32:09And disgusting. And.
- 32:11Horrible, so horrible. I.
- 32:13Cannot believe that she was let out parole.
- 32:17As we know, being a lesbian and being a witch does not mean you
- 32:19are a killer, but for this lesbian, it did.
- 32:24Wow. It is a very unique story, given
- 32:29that you know every story. I like to touch on gay people in
- 32:32general and lesbian murder is rare.
- 32:36That's what makes it so insane. And what was very unique about
- 32:40this story was that a lot of women that kill men, they're
- 32:44abused by them. This woman was not no.
- 32:47She didn't even know him. She was just a fucking vampire.
- 32:51Wow. Yeah, and Sophia, the only thing
- 32:53scarier than Halloween stories is real life.
- 32:59Anyways, I hope you guys have a great Halloween.
- 33:02Wow, How are you feeling? I'm feeling very shook and
- 33:06shaken up. Did you expect for it to take
- 33:08such a dark, sadistic turn? Not at all.
- 33:11That was like a wild story. I can't believe I had never
- 33:14heard of this case. It's horrible.
- 33:16So sad, so scary, so like, uniquely strange and insane.
- 33:22What do you mean? What do you mean she disappears
- 33:25and you can only see her cat eyes that doesn't or that she
- 33:28doesn't walk in front of mirrors?
- 33:29Right. Bullshit, spooky and very.
- 33:31Scared I'm Boo. OK, thanks for coming up.
- 33:35This was scary. This was.
- 33:36Terrifying. This was very, very on point
- 33:39Halloween. Episode very scary.
- 33:41Thanks I think so too. Let me know if you guys have any
- 33:43other ideas for holiday based episodes or bonus special
- 33:47content besides my usual non murderous content.
- 33:52I will be back in a little over a week for my normal usual gay
- 33:57pop culture and I hope you guys have a great Halloween.
- 34:01Australia, be safe out there.
