Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: All right, here on one leg a Baalox Sports, I
- 0:03Speaker 1: just want to issue a quick prayer and thoughts for
- 0:07Speaker 1: Mark Sanchez, who, at twelve thirty in the morning, according
- 0:10Speaker 1: to APC Football on Instagram, was involved in a stabbing
- 0:15Speaker 1: in downtown Indianapolis. Mark the US he stand out, of course,
- 0:19Speaker 1: former Jets, was supposed to call the Colts Raiders game
- 0:24Speaker 1: tomorrow but got senselessly stabbed. Updated Fox Sports reports saying
- 0:28Speaker 1: Fox Sports saying he's in stable condition, which is in
- 0:31Speaker 1: elevation from critical, but that the thoughts and prayers are
- 0:34Speaker 1: with Mark and his family and that the privacy of
- 0:37Speaker 1: the family be respected at this time. This is horrible.
- 0:42Speaker 1: He's in town to do a game for Fox and
- 0:47Speaker 1: he gets stabbed. Thank God he's in stable condition now,
- 0:51Speaker 1: but this is horrific and senseless and shocking above all. Now,
- 0:58Speaker 1: I want to share also, Nathan, I'm Torondra and our
- 1:01Speaker 1: media's link with Mark. He interviewed him not too long ago,
- 1:04Speaker 1: and I want to share that in the description below
- 1:06Speaker 1: here on one like at Balox Sports. But again, prayers
- 1:09Speaker 1: to the Sanchez family to Mark. No one deserves to
- 1:12Speaker 1: get stabbed anywhere, at any time, and we just got
- 1:18Speaker 1: to pray for him during this time. Now I want
- 1:21Speaker 1: to get to my interview with Julian Giularte, who's actually
- 1:23Speaker 1: covering the Tigers MARINERDS series after covering the Guardians Tigers,
- 1:27Speaker 1: and we record this yesterday and I want to release
- 1:29Speaker 1: it ahead of the Yanks and Jays and of course
- 1:32Speaker 1: the Tigers Maritors.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Hey.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I mentioned on the one like a Ballex Sports feature
- 1:39Speaker 1: that I was going to have some great journalists, some
- 1:41Speaker 1: great guests, and one of my friends is on the
- 1:43Speaker 1: line right now and journalist mister Julian Giuliarte. Hey, Julian,
- 1:47Speaker 1: welcome back to the show.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Alex has been a while.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Thank you. I appreciate you. I tried to sneak this in.
- 1:54Speaker 3: I'm a busy travel schedule, but I too appreciate you.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Thank you me And even if I don't the answers
- 2:00Speaker 3: sometimes and like you guys are talking to chat, I
- 2:03Speaker 3: kind of see what's going on.
- 2:04Speaker 2: That's just like a lot of different things.
- 2:06Speaker 3: But happy to see the thing with your podcasts and
- 2:09Speaker 3: you're getting Bob was pretty sick the other day.
- 2:12Speaker 2: I shouldn't watch that. You'll get better, but I'm just
- 2:14Speaker 2: like busy.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Oh it was a special night, but tell me how
- 2:18Speaker 1: you ended up covering the Cleveland and Guardians and the
- 2:21Speaker 1: Tigers series.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Bro, I still call them the Indians too, and LIT
- 2:25Speaker 3: even feel bad about it, Like I did it a
- 2:27Speaker 3: couple of times in Cleveland to not in the box,
- 2:29Speaker 3: but like when I was in the citium, like it's
- 2:30Speaker 3: totally Indians to me, not going to that whole political round,
- 2:33Speaker 3: but like we grew up with them as the Indians.
- 2:36Speaker 3: To me, it's always Indians, but they are the Guardians now,
- 2:41Speaker 3: for better or worse. But I would say, wait, I
- 2:46Speaker 3: think the reason I did Guardians was because Yankees kind
- 2:51Speaker 3: of got booked up and now you wanted to do
- 2:52Speaker 3: a series. Now was the best one. The Tigers connection
- 2:56Speaker 3: actually has nothing to do with the Guards. It's just
- 2:58Speaker 3: happened to work out that way because like when you
- 3:00Speaker 3: get to the passes, you go through the home team.
- 3:02Speaker 2: It doesn't matter what the road team does.
- 3:04Speaker 3: So like I did cover the Tigers in Detroit, and
- 3:07Speaker 3: I did cover them Yankee Stadium, but the Yankee credit
- 3:10Speaker 3: was the Yankees and how you saw the series, and
- 3:12Speaker 3: then I did go down to Miami, but I then
- 3:15Speaker 3: meet media when they played the Marlins.
- 3:18Speaker 2: So that's kind.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Of what I'm looking at now how I got started
- 3:23Speaker 3: with the Tigers, and I think he wants to know
- 3:25Speaker 3: that too, so I'll help you out here. Is that
- 3:28Speaker 3: my company just kind of applied they you want to
- 3:30Speaker 3: do Tigers. I'm like, yeh sure, and then we got
- 3:33Speaker 3: accepted and we just went and then we went to Pittsburgh.
- 3:36Speaker 3: We watched Paul Skeins pitch, and then I got back
- 3:41Speaker 3: home and stuff like. And it's a cool moment because
- 3:44Speaker 3: I went on that little road trip like twenty years
- 3:46Speaker 3: ago in two thousand and seven. It was Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Detroit,
- 3:50Speaker 3: and now I ended up working all of them like
- 3:52Speaker 3: in a month time, So that was kind of wild
- 3:54Speaker 3: to me.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Absolutely well, it's cool, and tell us the company, because
- 3:58Speaker 1: I mean, I need a little refresher to tell.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Us what.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Okay, completely valid, completely fair. I've struggled the deck a
- 4:06Speaker 3: couple of times. But World Baseball networkers who sent me
- 4:10Speaker 3: out for Detroit and Pittsburgh, and that's the one I
- 4:13Speaker 3: do a lot of my work with, like the articles
- 4:15Speaker 3: and like game coverage, and then Latino Sports have been
- 4:18Speaker 3: with for a while. Both those companies actually had been
- 4:21Speaker 3: with for a while, but I was doing other stuff
- 4:23Speaker 3: that I'm not doing anymore, so it's really just them
- 4:26Speaker 3: and then like some personal stuff for fun here and there.
- 4:30Speaker 4: All right, Julie, I gotta ask you this.
- 4:31Speaker 1: I won't get to that interview how with Jonah Tong
- 4:33Speaker 1: because I want to know how you got that. But
- 4:35Speaker 1: I want to get to the series because, yeah, the
- 4:37Speaker 1: Guardians coming on this momentum, they seem to be America's
- 4:40Speaker 1: darling right now.
- 4:41Speaker 4: Then they lose two out of three.
- 4:43Speaker 1: I mean, I guess it's the beauty of the three
- 4:45Speaker 1: game series, but how did they lose their steam? And
- 4:47Speaker 1: how did to Droid gain their scene this series?
- 4:50Speaker 2: You know what?
- 4:50Speaker 3: I honestly, it was definitely something that was a little
- 4:53Speaker 3: bit up in the air for me coming into this series.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Like my heart was saying Tigers will win it, and
- 4:59Speaker 3: I was ruling for them to win it because like
- 5:01Speaker 3: I wanted to go here to Detroit and I wasn't
- 5:04Speaker 3: gonna go anywhere.
- 5:05Speaker 2: That's to size the point.
- 5:07Speaker 3: I think my head said there was a slight Tigers lean,
- 5:10Speaker 3: but not a high one have to have the Guardians
- 5:12Speaker 3: had done. I just thought of the overall talent went
- 5:15Speaker 3: out eventually, but the Tigers just have a better team
- 5:17Speaker 3: than the Guardians. The Tigers were playing terrible baseball, no fundamentals,
- 5:22Speaker 3: no timely finishing, no timely hitting, swinging for defenses, empty
- 5:26Speaker 3: at bats. And the Guardians they played that pesky ball.
- 5:29Speaker 3: They call it guards ball. They don't hit the ball
- 5:31Speaker 3: of the infield. They score runs somehow. They scored four
- 5:34Speaker 3: runs on schooball out hitting the ball in the infield
- 5:36Speaker 3: in his last two starts against them.
- 5:39Speaker 2: So you know how much I'm frustrated him.
- 5:41Speaker 3: And I thought the Guardians were gonna take it at
- 5:43Speaker 3: the point in time, because you gotta remember there was
- 5:47Speaker 3: a situation in Game one that they had Jose Ramiroz
- 5:49Speaker 3: on third base with no outs and they blew it.
- 5:51Speaker 3: They could have easily won that, and then they would
- 5:53Speaker 3: have won the two games.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Yeah, well it's gonna be interesting.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Now.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Have you gotten doctor Tark I think that's the number
- 6:02Speaker 1: one question happened?
- 6:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I have spoken to him. I have a clip
- 6:06Speaker 3: with him online at Yankee Stadium too. I got him
- 6:09Speaker 3: at the presser. He's a cool, too humble guy, but
- 6:12Speaker 3: he doesn't really read into himself too much. He's not
- 6:15Speaker 3: like the guy that gets caught up in like his starts.
- 6:17Speaker 3: He always said, I don't look at them that much.
- 6:19Speaker 3: He's like, I move on good or bad. He's like,
- 6:21Speaker 3: I get caught up in it. And then like he's
- 6:24Speaker 3: such a build competitor, fierce competitor, and the guy just
- 6:27Speaker 3: wants to win. He's really good at what he does. Obviously,
- 6:30Speaker 3: I think he's a cool dude. He's been a really
- 6:33Speaker 3: great picture. Obviously. I feel like the Tigers found the
- 6:36Speaker 3: momentum when Dangler hit that home and that was the
- 6:38Speaker 3: turning point. I feel like they needed that big and
- 6:41Speaker 3: he finally got it. And then once he got it,
- 6:44Speaker 3: the floodgates finally opened for the team. Like they all
- 6:46Speaker 3: figured it out the next inning, and Dingler was the
- 6:49Speaker 3: guy I thought could do damage because he was kind
- 6:51Speaker 3: of he was hit with, but like he had to
- 6:53Speaker 3: go that back to end the game together before went
- 6:56Speaker 3: so Perez was hit with and he gets the biggest
- 6:58Speaker 3: hit of the series. Effective because once they go for
- 7:01Speaker 3: one the way the Guardians offenses, you kind of think
- 7:03Speaker 3: that game's over, like to the one the Guardians can
- 7:06Speaker 3: come back from, but once you have to chase three
- 7:08Speaker 3: with that offense, like you're not feeling too good about that.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I mean, look, the Guardians have Stephens Kwan and of
- 7:14Speaker 1: course Jay Ram Ramirez. And yet the Tigers got through him,
- 7:19Speaker 1: which is I mean they only limited to a couple
- 7:21Speaker 1: of runs over the series.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Right, Well, here's how it went. The first game was
- 7:27Speaker 2: two to one Tigers. Who was a battle.
- 7:28Speaker 3: It was a grind schoolbal pitch, a generational game. The
- 7:31Speaker 3: most strikeouts of his life for fourteen he was unedable.
- 7:35Speaker 3: I remember seeing him pitching that well. And now I've
- 7:37Speaker 3: got the privilege of watching him. I think it's my
- 7:39Speaker 3: third time or second now might be. I thought as well,
- 7:43Speaker 3: I didn't see him against the Mets. Unfortunately, I saw
- 7:47Speaker 3: him pitcher and playing and they got hurt. But this
- 7:49Speaker 3: is the third or fourth time I've seen him. This
- 7:51Speaker 3: is the best I've ever seen. Well, he was throwing
- 7:53Speaker 3: one hundred and one miles an hour, like everything was working.
- 7:55Speaker 3: The Guardians had no chance against him. They only scored
- 7:57Speaker 3: because of like in the old hits in the bunts,
- 8:00Speaker 3: I think, or something like. It wasn't even like a
- 8:02Speaker 3: clean run, per to say, it was fluky. It was
- 8:04Speaker 3: guard's ball, like what they do, like they're in field
- 8:07Speaker 3: ding like you know, but like he's so good man,
- 8:10Speaker 3: like he's a legit. He's I think he's the best
- 8:12Speaker 3: pitcher in the league still, and the Skis has a
- 8:14Speaker 3: claim to it. I think Schooble is a little bit
- 8:16Speaker 3: better in Crochet because he's a little more efficient. I
- 8:18Speaker 3: know school ball, I mean, I know Crochet gets more
- 8:20Speaker 3: strike outs, but school has a lower ra while we're
- 8:23Speaker 3: webbed like and a bunch of on a few other
- 8:25Speaker 3: things too. I think he should win the side young again.
- 8:29Speaker 3: And so it was six one. Guardians kind of broke
- 8:32Speaker 3: out in the game two, the six to one. Paul
- 8:34Speaker 3: Melton had a bad time out there. Now he's starting
- 8:37Speaker 3: tomorrow opening more than starting. But and then because Rochio
- 8:43Speaker 3: hit a bomb and you have Valaria hit one, and
- 8:45Speaker 3: there was one other one that's escaping me right now.
- 8:48Speaker 3: I have to look it up. I guess, but it's
- 8:50Speaker 3: for Okio Valeria. I said, we'll do it. And then
- 8:53Speaker 3: there was the Guardians. I got, I'll check, but and
- 8:58Speaker 3: then I guess the right of Tigers win six the three,
- 9:00Speaker 3: so like they kind of even too up.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a low scoring series. It was a
- 9:04Speaker 2: throwback series.
- 9:05Speaker 3: It was a lot of pitching, a lot of defense,
- 9:07Speaker 3: a lot of strategizing, bunting like the Tigers bunted in
- 9:10Speaker 3: Game two, and that's actually how they got their sacking run.
- 9:12Speaker 3: So the Tigers played guards ball in game one and
- 9:15Speaker 3: they won it. So they did adapt and that's important. Obviously.
- 9:22Speaker 3: I have to say, like I really am, I'm impressed
- 9:25Speaker 3: with their forty two because the Guardians embarrassed them.
- 9:27Speaker 2: They took their division lead.
- 9:29Speaker 3: They had won six of eight against them, so I
- 9:31Speaker 3: was thinking that it might be a done deal, that
- 9:33Speaker 3: they might just be in their heads, But the Tigers
- 9:36Speaker 3: woke up, and then once they did, they reminded everybody
- 9:39Speaker 3: why they were the best team in the American League
- 9:41Speaker 3: for the most of the year.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Look, they had that what fourteen game lead I mean
- 9:46Speaker 1: and then doing an on seven.
- 9:47Speaker 4: It was a dramatic.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Yeah, they had fifteen and a half.
- 9:51Speaker 4: But then they come back and do this.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Now can they face can they beat Rally?
- 9:55Speaker 4: And the Mariners will have to see.
- 9:56Speaker 1: But I want to ask you about a couple other
- 9:57Speaker 1: guys before we move on to that. The Yankees series,
- 10:00Speaker 1: and of course the alds Labor. What's it like reconnecting
- 10:04Speaker 1: with him.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I haven't got to speak to him yet.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Unfortunately, I tried a couple of times and never been
- 10:09Speaker 3: able to line it up. If I get the chance
- 10:12Speaker 3: to cover game three, which I should have minimum, that
- 10:14Speaker 3: should be the worst case scenario. At least get one game,
- 10:18Speaker 3: then I will try to talk with him. I wanted
- 10:21Speaker 3: to see him do more. He didn't have the best series.
- 10:23Speaker 3: I know the first step bad of to day he
- 10:26Speaker 3: winds out hard to outfields or I think or something,
- 10:31Speaker 3: but he didn't really do much after that.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Again, we have one or two hits in.
- 10:34Speaker 3: The series, but we know how Glaber can play well
- 10:37Speaker 3: in October.
- 10:38Speaker 2: I think Taurres.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Had a great October.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Yees this year hasn't been the best room yet. I
- 10:48Speaker 3: would say, why the hell is this going back in time?
- 10:50Speaker 2: This is so stupid.
- 10:51Speaker 3: But anyway, so I would say, like, honestly speaking, I
- 10:56Speaker 3: think that he'll he'll be fine. I'm not gonna say
- 10:58Speaker 3: he's like don't or anything. He's gonna j A actually
- 11:01Speaker 3: moved him up to lead off. I think it helped
- 11:02Speaker 3: because he put Medals at the bottom. The Metals did
- 11:04Speaker 3: well and Labor had a good first step back, but
- 11:07Speaker 3: he got out. I think Taurres is like a good stableisever.
- 11:10Speaker 3: It's kind of cool to see him out there doing
- 11:11Speaker 3: this thing. You know how he's buy it's hanging in
- 11:13Speaker 3: playing well here and there. I think that he's pretty
- 11:18Speaker 3: good on the Tiger is a one year deal. It
- 11:20Speaker 3: seems like he likes over there. I'm sure he might return.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Maybe he's got a good winning environment there too. Can
- 11:26Speaker 3: they beat the Mariners? Is gonna be a tall order.
- 11:28Speaker 3: I'm entirely sure about that yet, but I know we'll
- 11:31Speaker 3: get to that soon. So I would say, like I'm
- 11:38Speaker 3: looking at certain stuff, like why is this not doing this?
- 11:41Speaker 3: I want I'm so irritated right now. Hold on, But yeah, bro,
- 11:45Speaker 3: I mean I think that Gliber's in a decent spot.
- 11:48Speaker 3: AJ has hate faith in him. Still, he's been good
- 11:50Speaker 3: in the playoffs before. I was gonna say he's hit
- 11:53Speaker 3: well against the Mariners. Correct me if I'm wrong, right,
- 11:55Speaker 3: I feel like he's had success against the Manners.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Oh yeah, well he'll he'll he'll heat up here.
- 12:01Speaker 4: Now.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Another guy I want to ask you about is Hobby Baias,
- 12:04Speaker 1: who's really seemed to have found a rejuvenation this year.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been interesting to see Hobby. You have a
- 12:11Speaker 2: few hits.
- 12:13Speaker 3: He he's still swinging out of his shoes a certain pitches.
- 12:16Speaker 3: So when bow Nailor was the other home or whatever?
- 12:17Speaker 3: We go on the why this game? I should have
- 12:19Speaker 3: known that bow Nailor, so that was the third one
- 12:22Speaker 3: that day. So they kind of just jumped They kind
- 12:25Speaker 3: of just jumped out and that was that. That was
- 12:28Speaker 3: how they won.
- 12:29Speaker 1: So all right, so you're on the road and then
- 12:32Speaker 1: you watch someone I'm sure you covered at Somerset. Cam
- 12:34Speaker 1: Schlittler made his postseason debut, and what a night he had.
- 12:39Speaker 1: But tell us about the kids that you knew from
- 12:41Speaker 1: Somerset that became the call up of the year.
- 12:44Speaker 3: I could tell you even further than that. We can
- 12:46Speaker 3: go before Somerset if you want. And the thing that's
- 12:48Speaker 3: crazy about Summerset is Dylan Dangler was playing against Summer
- 12:52Speaker 3: said when I was covering them, and I don't know
- 12:54Speaker 3: if you heard, but I asked him a question about
- 12:55Speaker 3: that and someone said they don't know the ESPN. I
- 12:57Speaker 3: was like, oh okay, Like apparently they were playing the
- 13:00Speaker 3: restaurant on the ESPN. I was like, oh wow, and
- 13:02Speaker 3: someone recognized me. I was like, oh share. So dang
- 13:06Speaker 3: were played against Patriots an eerie he was what he
- 13:11Speaker 3: played against him in twenty two and twenty three I
- 13:13Speaker 3: remember him, and he stood out to me back then
- 13:15Speaker 3: because I thought he was a pretty good catcher. He
- 13:17Speaker 3: had a few bombs off them and I said as
- 13:19Speaker 3: much to him, and we spoke about that, and I'm like, Cam,
- 13:23Speaker 3: I go back with him before summer. Say, do you
- 13:25Speaker 3: remember twenty twenty three when Hudson Valley was in the playoffs?
- 13:30Speaker 1: You know, I haven't really followed Hudson Valley until this year, really,
- 13:33Speaker 1: so tell us about that.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Okay, So here's the story with husin Valley in the playoffs.
- 13:40Speaker 2: So I covered them. This was actually might even be now.
- 13:44Speaker 3: I gotta think, cause like twenty twenty four, they didn't
- 13:48Speaker 3: make the playoffs.
- 13:49Speaker 2: I don't think it's a fuck now.
- 13:54Speaker 3: I gotta think because Cam, I saw him pitch in
- 13:57Speaker 3: the playoffs in Hudson Valley. That's where I'm going with
- 14:00Speaker 3: this story, and that's where I first saw man. The
- 14:04Speaker 3: evolution of what I saw then to what I saw
- 14:06Speaker 3: him now is the moral of the story here.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Okay.
- 14:10Speaker 3: So in twenty four, yes, I was right. Two years
- 14:14Speaker 3: ago in the playoffs, I watched him pitch in Hudson Valley.
- 14:19Speaker 3: He was thrown in the low nineties. Okay, I kid
- 14:22Speaker 3: you not he was thrown in the low nineties, ninety
- 14:26Speaker 3: to ninety two, maybe he'd be ninety three and a
- 14:28Speaker 3: good day. I didn't think he was gonna be anything
- 14:31Speaker 3: like this. I'm gonna take full discretion here. I'm not
- 14:34Speaker 3: gonna say, oh, I knew it, because I did not.
- 14:37Speaker 3: And I thought his breaking stuff was pretty good from
- 14:41Speaker 3: what I remember, Like, I gotta try to go back
- 14:44Speaker 3: in time and find that start. I'm really curious to
- 14:46Speaker 3: see how he pitched, because that's the first time I
- 14:47Speaker 3: saw him. But he gains like ten miles now on
- 14:50Speaker 3: his fastball in like two years somehow, I don't know how,
- 14:52Speaker 3: like even less Like that's what's crazy to me, Like,
- 14:56Speaker 3: and I just did not expect this from him at
- 14:58Speaker 3: all last year kind of or to see signs when
- 15:01Speaker 3: he was coming onto the scene with Somerset this year.
- 15:03Speaker 3: We saw signs pretty much the whole year, So I
- 15:07Speaker 3: mean it was a crazy situation.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Well day when he got called up. Remember how electric
- 15:14Speaker 1: he was that first start. And by the way, if
- 15:17Speaker 1: people are keeping count, I believe he's got ninety two
- 15:19Speaker 1: strikeouts now between the regular season and and the postseason
- 15:23Speaker 1: twelve postseason game, but ninety two strikeouts overall, Julian, that's
- 15:28Speaker 1: pretty impressive for a rookie who just got a few
- 15:30Speaker 1: stars under his belt.
- 15:32Speaker 3: I just can't believe how good he is. I'm gonna
- 15:34Speaker 3: be honest with you, Garrett Cole. They call him Baby Cole.
- 15:39Speaker 3: I think he's earned that nickname a little bit. I
- 15:43Speaker 3: think it's been a fun year for him. And now
- 15:47Speaker 3: I think, like I said before this, I thought he
- 15:49Speaker 3: earned the opportunity to become a third starter.
- 15:51Speaker 2: I think it was the right decision. I really do.
- 15:55Speaker 3: I think he's been better than he always been better
- 15:57Speaker 3: than Warren. So you will get that and then you
- 16:02Speaker 3: are set. So I gotta see this. I'm gonna go
- 16:06Speaker 3: back in time. I'm going to find this skateing that.
- 16:09Speaker 1: I gotta ask someone who I felt has not got
- 16:12Speaker 1: his proper flowers all day long, mister Ahmed Roseiro. I mean,
- 16:16Speaker 1: my goodness, what a what a base hit to break
- 16:19Speaker 1: the thing open last night.
- 16:23Speaker 2: I feel like a raided almost.
- 16:25Speaker 3: I think it's just because he didn't play well against
- 16:27Speaker 3: Cliche and then there was a big bull up with
- 16:29Speaker 3: the Jazz decision. But like Rosario has a role on
- 16:33Speaker 3: this team, especially against lefties, it's very good still, so
- 16:38Speaker 3: I think he's definitely a good spot.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Like I really really do.
- 16:42Speaker 1: I want to get to the lineup because Boone decides
- 16:45Speaker 1: throughout the Paul Goldsmith lineup. But look, I think, right
- 16:49Speaker 1: you're lefty, the Trent Grisham lineup is the way to
- 16:52Speaker 1: go every night during this postseason.
- 16:54Speaker 4: Wouldn't you agree?
- 16:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean that's what you would think. That's probably
- 17:00Speaker 3: the way to do it. I mean, but I do
- 17:02Speaker 3: want Rosario playing though against lefties is the big man
- 17:05Speaker 3: because the man can't really hit lefties that well, that's
- 17:08Speaker 3: the only switch I probably make. I'm very happy. I mean,
- 17:11Speaker 3: you will agree with me. You're gonna laugh at this.
- 17:13Speaker 3: I would have blew a gasket if Slayter was on
- 17:16Speaker 3: the roster. If Slater has been a complete mistake, complete boss,
- 17:19Speaker 3: like no good, like he can't They got in here
- 17:21Speaker 3: to do lefties and he can't even do that, Like
- 17:23Speaker 3: he's It's like, I do not want him on the roster.
- 17:26Speaker 3: So I'm happy didn't putting them on it because then
- 17:30Speaker 3: what they used him if he was on it, And
- 17:31Speaker 3: we can't risk using Slayter in the playoffs right now,
- 17:34Speaker 3: So I'm happy he was off it.
- 17:37Speaker 2: And then like everything else kind of standard.
- 17:39Speaker 3: I guess you could do Wells catching Rice at first,
- 17:42Speaker 3: And the only issue is he do you want Goldie's
- 17:44Speaker 3: defense at first in certain situations?
- 17:45Speaker 2: I think, and Wells has been good.
- 17:49Speaker 3: He had that big hit the Jazz scoring on, so
- 17:53Speaker 3: I think that, like you want to try to make
- 17:55Speaker 3: it as few tweaks as possible to kind of agree
- 17:57Speaker 3: with you there.
- 17:59Speaker 1: So all right, how about Ben Rice? Now, this is
- 18:03Speaker 1: a guy that I'm sure you've covered over the years,
- 18:05Speaker 1: but want to breakout postseason performance this week.
- 18:10Speaker 3: I mean, you look at the bomb against Bail that
- 18:12Speaker 3: was an obvious one after he was benched, and then
- 18:16Speaker 3: you look at the situation like with with like how
- 18:23Speaker 3: he was benched and how he responded, like he really
- 18:25Speaker 3: responds to all of that, And so he came in
- 18:27Speaker 3: into this work and now the last two nights been
- 18:30Speaker 3: really good. I don't think he's gonna say much again
- 18:32Speaker 3: in October. I really think he's in a good spot
- 18:35Speaker 3: now and he's he's a guy that me.
- 18:39Speaker 2: The only issue with me is like his defense.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Leaves a lot to be desired at both spots he
- 18:43Speaker 3: put in, so like I'd like to see him be
- 18:46Speaker 3: more of like a DH maybe, but the problem is
- 18:48Speaker 3: you're staying there, so he's gonna have to play the
- 18:51Speaker 3: field for the time being. So uh yeah, that's like
- 18:56Speaker 3: cow I would handle that, I guess. But it's very
- 18:59Speaker 3: very interesting, Like how that is?
- 19:02Speaker 4: All right?
- 19:03Speaker 1: I want to get to the Alds because obviously you're
- 19:05Speaker 1: gonna be looking at the Tiger series. But let's get
- 19:09Speaker 1: to the Jay the Yanks Jays. It looks like it's
- 19:11Speaker 1: gonna be Freed ro Don or is it Heel gonna
- 19:14Speaker 1: be game one? Because Free just pitched.
- 19:16Speaker 4: A few days ago. What does the rotation looking like, Julie.
- 19:26Speaker 3: I mean, I'm sorry, wow, my head's they announced that.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm here, I can actually come on.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Hello, I got you, Julian, Alex Hello, Yeah, I got you, Julian.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, so they announced, Okay, they announced that Heel
- 19:44Speaker 3: is game one.
- 19:47Speaker 4: It would make so much sense.
- 19:48Speaker 1: So yeah, but Heel and then back to Freed and
- 19:51Speaker 1: ro Don and then I'm guessing Schlitzler again, you know,
- 19:55Speaker 1: on on if.
- 19:56Speaker 4: There's a game four.
- 19:57Speaker 1: I do see the series splitting up in Toronto, don't you.
- 20:02Speaker 3: Most likely Here's how I think things might go. I
- 20:05Speaker 3: kind of predicted how this last series would go. I said,
- 20:08Speaker 3: Yankees will lose Game one, but they'll win two and three,
- 20:11Speaker 3: and that's kind of what happened. So yeah, I mean
- 20:16Speaker 3: that's so I'm gonna say something similar here. I think
- 20:20Speaker 3: the Yankees lose Game one, but they still come back,
- 20:23Speaker 3: they win Game two, and then I think they go
- 20:26Speaker 3: like four or five, probably more towards five for the
- 20:29Speaker 3: Chets not playing.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Maybe it's four.
- 20:33Speaker 3: Because I don't make a difference, and it looks like
- 20:34Speaker 3: they're leaning towards not using him yet or I heard
- 20:37Speaker 3: he might be available game three but on the roster,
- 20:40Speaker 3: but non use for Game one or two.
- 20:43Speaker 2: So that's that's definitely a possibility, all right.
- 20:50Speaker 1: And then your series, and then I want to ask
- 20:51Speaker 1: about Jonah Tone. But your series Detroit vers Seattle.
- 20:56Speaker 4: I feel like the.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Mariners don't have a lot around cal rally, but they
- 20:59Speaker 1: have the arms. Can the arms shut down this Tiger offense?
- 21:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the thing.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Like I think the Mariners already advantage here because they're
- 21:10Speaker 3: pitching staff as better as a whole. I know the
- 21:12Speaker 3: Tigers have Tarik, but you will get Kirby, You'll get
- 21:16Speaker 3: loll if he's healthy, which I think he's supposed to
- 21:18Speaker 3: be in Game three ish. Then you take a look
- 21:21Speaker 3: at the other Mick Gilbert, who's very good. Luis Castillo
- 21:25Speaker 3: as the four, it's pretty solid. Even though he's tough,
- 21:27Speaker 3: clinton diminishing, he still has that ability.
- 21:30Speaker 2: And I think the Mariners.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Lot Bats are in a better spot too, because he
- 21:36Speaker 3: will get Suarez, you will get Nail or Julio's hot
- 21:39Speaker 3: now he's been having the great second half.
- 21:41Speaker 2: And then Ramsey Rose Arena.
- 21:43Speaker 3: We know playoff Ramsey, even JP Crawford Orri Polankle the Mariners,
- 21:47Speaker 3: I think we might win the series in four games.
- 21:50Speaker 3: I think it might be the end for the Tigers
- 21:52Speaker 3: Schoobo because definitely still in at least one, there's no
- 21:55Speaker 3: question about that, But how much more than that, I'm
- 21:59Speaker 3: not really sure. Could Flaherty steal the game four. That's
- 22:01Speaker 3: gonna be my key to the series, because if Flaherty
- 22:05Speaker 3: can steal the Game four, then they're gonna have a chance.
- 22:09Speaker 3: So that's how I'm kind of looking at that situation.
- 22:13Speaker 3: And I want to like, this is different than what
- 22:18Speaker 3: I thought. This is like, Okay, now I finally found
- 22:23Speaker 3: it after all this time, I think, But yeah, no,
- 22:27Speaker 3: so I do think it's gonna be a situation where.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Where like yeah, where that happens.
- 22:38Speaker 1: We'll have to see and then I want to get
- 22:40Speaker 1: to real fast. The uh the Jonah Toong interviewed.
- 22:44Speaker 4: That was so cool. I mean you get to see
- 22:45Speaker 4: him before.
- 22:45Speaker 1: You you've been on the field, a bo cityfield and
- 22:47Speaker 1: yanky team. I gotta give you credit for being all
- 22:49Speaker 1: over the place, mainly to the field.
- 22:51Speaker 4: Uh what's that experience?
- 22:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been fun. Man like look forward.
- 22:57Speaker 3: So I don't take you for granted to trying to
- 22:58Speaker 3: odd to like it's like you try to go there
- 23:01Speaker 3: and get them. Joe and I met the Somerset because
- 23:03Speaker 3: like he didn't meday when it was Binghamton and Patriots.
- 23:08Speaker 3: So that's what happened there. And oh now I remember
- 23:13Speaker 3: this game. Yep, it was that they lost to nothing.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Okay, I actually saw can get the win. He was
- 23:25Speaker 2: not dead. Now I finally found it. But Joonah the
- 23:28Speaker 2: Tongs awesome. I love. He's a great dude.
- 23:31Speaker 3: I know he and the year well, but I think
- 23:33Speaker 3: like he's going to be fine. He needs to just
- 23:35Speaker 3: to find some stuff. He's very into pitching. He seems
- 23:37Speaker 3: like a pitching nerve, which is cool and I also
- 23:40Speaker 3: think that he he has a lot of ability for
- 23:43Speaker 3: the young age of twenty two. He has a cool background.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Took him from Canada and stuff, so I think he's
- 23:48Speaker 3: in a good spot. He's a fun dude. Look, he
- 23:50Speaker 3: doesn't let anything get to him. I think he's gonna
- 23:52Speaker 3: be fine. So he remembered me when I pulled up
- 23:54Speaker 3: to Detroit, So that's how it came about. Basically, I
- 23:58Speaker 3: couldn't get him the first day, but then he said
- 24:00Speaker 3: he would do it the next day and we have
- 24:03Speaker 3: a decent repoort. I guess I had a good tik
- 24:05Speaker 3: talk with him and pull up. We got like thirty
- 24:07Speaker 3: five thousand views. Actually, if you check my name on
- 24:10Speaker 3: tik talk, you'll see it. I think you have seen it.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Probably thanks for joining us on the One Leg Up
- 24:15Speaker 1: Alex Network and One Leg Up Alex Sports. Now I
- 24:20Speaker 1: have to say this. I heard from Eric Ryan today
