- Chasing The Magic: Hey everyone, I'm Laura. And I'm Lindy. Grab your Mickey ears. It's time to chase the magic. Laura: well your mic is white. I don't know. well hello. Hello everyone. That's not I don't like chat and these news. maybe I need to create a like automation thing. We'll see. We're running behind today. We are. It's Tuesday. But I say by like the whole twenty four hours. Like Monday. yeah, we're running behind and we're here and we're in a different little locale still at Lindy's house. But they're sprucing up the other room. So yeah. I got some cool news though. Okay. I joined this like planning group for like a big DFW Disney meetup. Okay. I saw that. Someone was like, hey, anyone want to organize like a meetup? And you were like, yes. Yeah on Instagram. Yeah, yeah. So like, well she was asking people in general if they wanted to like have a meetup. And then she kind of reached out to people who wanted Then the thing there was a second post about helping. I missed that post. Instagram is weird. So I just messaged her individually and was like, hey, I'm willing to help if you need any help. So yeah, I'm in this group. It's gonna be like huge. so it's for like travel. No. Any like Disney adult. okay. Yeah. So like anyone, any kind of Disney thing can do it. I think we actually officially have a name. Hold on, let me get it right. Something metropolitan. Metroplex Magic Meetup. Or magic in the Metroplex meetup. Something like that. So yeah, it's gonna have we're in the DFW area. We don't have anything besides a name and that we want to do it and that we're gonna aim for June. Okay. So, but like we're looking for vendors. we're gonna I'm gonna like do pin trading. We're gonna set up a little pin trading thing. I'm in Gonna help with guest experience. Okay. So the pen trading of it all. We're gonna I think some like we might do like Disney bounding. yeah, just some like convention essentially. But we can't little mini one. Yeah, but we can't like say it's a di you know right copyright. So I'm assuming there's other events like this that have like other happened and she's got the idea from that. Right. So someone suggest someone said something is this gonna be Big like there's one in the Pacific North Northwest, which is like called the PNW Mouse meetup or something like that. And it's like a weekend long event. wow. Yeah. So I was like, or is it gonna be like a market? Like I would thought I was thinking more market, but they were like, well, let's do it this way first and see how it is. And then if it's, you know, if people want it more often. Yeah, we can do like maybe Quarterly markets, but or we could like branch off from that to do like a markets, you know. I don't know. So I don't know, just a fun little Disney like minded people. My other idea was, and I was like, I'll have to see if anybody else in the group plays, but I was like, Lorcana, like having a Lorcana stage in would be cool. I don't I've played once. You could somehow set up, I wonder if you could somehow. Set up like a through my ballet. I was thinking about that. I was like, depending on the venue we got, it like I'm sure that could be something we discussed. But definitely the pen trading, because I know that big and I think Lorcana would be fun. and then just a bunch of vendors and other fun things. Yeah. Kids and adults too like, so very fun. So yeah, that's happening eventually. Okay. Microphone. So yeah. But besides that, I also I I kinda don't want to talk about it because I kind of just want us to talk about it the day of like the day we talk about our trip. But I've kind of ironed out some things on our trip. But also, did you know I didn't realize how late we're getting in our flight changed a little? We're getting in closer to six or seven. When did that happen? I don't know. I want to go. I know when we get back. Right, we're coming in late. Where do I go to see how many more days left to my trip? Where's that again? There it is. Okay. That's what I wanted to see. I wanted to see we have Forty-four days. You were in the fifties. Forty-four days. I don't know why I was thinking fifties still. Wow. Hmm. No, I think that's how it's been whole time. Was it? Okay. Six six? Okay. I got a notification when I logged in for the first time that that something about it has changed. It's it's our return flight, I thought. okay. That's the only one I got the notification for anyway. Okay. Your trip was It was by like five minutes. it it wasn't much. Okay. Six five. That's not too bad. But I have ironed out our exact plans for our food. And I have a fun and a little reel we can do or like TikTok or like video content. We're like, it's gonna be hard because of how picky I am. But when we're at the party, Chad was like, go, like we each, like if we're going to Friar's Nook, we each go to Friar's Nook. And the original thing was you pick something for the other person to eat. And then you have to like rate it. Like I essentially we're gonna split or try each other's anything anyways. So it's like we can just get our own like get a surprise meal. But then I was like, I don't wanna get the same thing. Right. So but I think it'd be cute even if we did it we tried to do it. Okay. I don't know. So we just order separately and order separately. Okay. And then easy enough. Yeah. And then we rate it and you know. And then we surprise order our egg rolls, I guess, because we just know we're gonna get the same egg rolls. it's mostly party food. But I think that would be funny too. So yeah, got that. Got our stuff. I guess we can set up a date for when we want to talk about we can look at our calendar when we want to talk about the trip. I would think it'd be The week before? Yeah. Yeah, we can do that. All right, well do you have any I just there's no Dreamlight Valley news? No. Mm. Chasing The Magic: It's time for making memories and dreaming like daddies. Laura: Really? No. Okay. Well, we got our candlelight processional celebrity lineup today. Wait, what? The candlelight processional that they do every year at Epcot for Christmas. okay. We got the lineup today. So we've got a la I can never say her name right. Alali Caravallo, the animated marijuana. Uh-huh. She's doing it for two nights. Gary Sinice, who's from Rascal Flat, is doing it for two nights. Whoopi Goldberg is doing it for two nights. Robin Roberts is doing it for two nights. Jason Kelsey. Okay. He's got two nights. Neil Patrick Harris, surprisingly, only has two nights. Lauren Dagle has two nights. Ralph Macho, Henry Winkler, Lacey Shaver, Jody Benson, Seymo Liu, and Eva Longoria all have two nights. So I've always wanted to do that. And they do what now? They read the numbers for those that don't know. it is a seating is first come, first served in the Epcot American Pavilion, like little thing. you can enjoy so you can get the dining package kind of like Phantasmic, which I think if I ever was able to go during this time, that's what I would do. it is a candlelight profession processional. Including classic kiss Christmas carols. It's a musical lineup, including classic Christmas carols and beloved holiday favorites, brought to life by full orchestra and the harmonies of hundreds of voices singing into the night, the candlelight processional is the perfect way to celebrate the season alongside global traditions. Okay. So I think they Do they do the story? 'Twas the night before Christmas? I don't remember. I've never done it. I've never been able to go at that point. It always starts the Friday after Thanksgiving. So I would love to go at some point. But I would go if it was that first weekend. Like that first like one of those few like Yeah, 'cause it gets so crowded. I do not want to do Disney at Christmas time again. Like I don't know. I say that. You say that. I think but like definitely not during the craziest, most crowded times. Our time you when we went, that was insane. And we didn't know about the filming of that thing. I think if we would have known and gotten that insider tip, we probably would have steered clear. But other than that it was fine. But other than that it was fine. When we went though, well what weekend did y'all go? We went the first week into December? Or the second weekend? well we went to Hollywood Studio the second weekend. after our cruise. But before our cruise, I guess before and after I think we went to Disney Springs. And that's where it's Disney Springs is always gonna be crowded at Christmas because it's shopping. Yeah. So any shopping shopping and they had the special like Christmas re scavenger hunt, whatever's the like extra stuff. I went the week of Thanksgiving and I didn't feel crowds until like the Wednesday. Okay. So the weekend leading up to it and the week before. And honestly, we were at Magic Kingdom Thanksgiving Day and it didn't feel that crowded either. I didn't feel like it was that crowded. So I just, yeah. I don't know. I yeah, I want to go back at Christmas because I want to do stuff like that. And I want to do Hollywood nights. I don't know if I would ever pay for Christmas party again, but we'll see. We shall see. There's a new restaurant coming to the boardwalk called Hurley Burley. What is that? really it's like where did it go? Also, who left? Did someone leave? Yes. It's like a restaurant bar. I was actually gonna look at it for us to go, but it's just like American food. Nothing too like Fancy. But so like the theme is step inside a historic seaside theater once home of the boardwalk's most celebrated vaudeville performers. Now nearly a hundred years later, Burly Burley is opening its doors once again with entertainment offerings, vintage drinks, and little bite light bites inspired by an era of world-class performances and nautical novelty. there's trivia and games in the afternoon, then at 9 p.m. at 21 and older. And it is live and it has live music. The food honestly looks good, delicious to me. But I don't really like I don't know. I don't know what clothes though. So that's opening at the Mm. there's Star Wars news, which I guess is on track for what we're talking about today. it's the Mandalorian and Gro Gro Gro Goo releases on September 2nd. So it's out. Yep. So it's out. and Vamperina season two is returning on October 6th. Chad Powers is out. I know that's Hulu, but it's Disney. Chad Powers season two. I know, right? yeah, that's pretty much it. So I guess we can get into it. Okay. We're finally finally. Yes. Finally. Done with Star Wars. And after this movie I'm a little disappointed. I liked this one. Yeah. Yeah. I did. It took me a minute to get into it though. Up until well not up until what I I guess it took me a minute to realize what was happening, but yeah. With Palp T. Yeah. He's back. Yeah. That was my own that's my only like dig at the movie. I feel like. The rest of it, I was like, ook I liked I liked it. But if he wasn't in it, how would they have They could have figured it out because why he was he mentioned in the first two? At all. No. Kylo Ren was this new villain. Well true. They could have I think they could have used their creative minds a little bit better than bringing someone who was supposed to be dead back. look, he's not dead. But basically, because he's hooked up to a bunch of drugs that are keeping him alive. my gosh. so yeah. I had a I had like a a good reaction. But I can't even remember it now. It was it was to one of the I wanna say it was to one of the like creatures or something. I'm gonna tell you who my new favorite character is. Babu. Bubble Freak. Babufrick. He was when C3PO got his mind wiped and goes like, who are you? I bubble freak. So cute. okay, so the movie immediately reveals that Emperor Palpatine has somehow survived, setting up the final threat for the resistance. Now, I missed the I must have missed it. Cause I didn't realize he was alive till halfway through MB. Palpatine? Yeah. but Kylo Ren travels to Ex Gaul where Palpatine reveals his plan to create a new Sith Empire using an enormous fleet of planets destroying Star Destroyers. I'm not gonna lie to you. I do if these movies start with a fight sequence, I'm usually zoned out. I need a little bit of drama before we start fighting. So that might be why. I wasn't paying attention. were you surprised that Palpatine was back? Yes. Did his return make sense to you? No. Do you feel like the movie explained it enough? No. Should Palpatine have sticked dead? Yes. Now, did bringing him back weaken Vayer's sacrifice? That's a good question. think it weakens the sacrifice because he still made the sacrifice. Yeah. That's an interesting question. I guess I'd say no. Yeah. Did Palpatine was Palpatine a right final villain for the sky to end the Skywalker saga? I mean I guess on the OG, right? Yeah. I guess it doesn't make sense in that way. Yeah. I don't like it. Like 'cause Nick was like, what else I mean what else would you do at this point? If they did another movie, it'd be like, really? Like, you brought back And I'm probably j I'm jumping ahead, but like you brought back Lando, you you brought back Han for a cuisine and Luke, like Leia died, like you wrapped things up pretty well. That is true. I don't know what you can do. That is true. Other than just I guess expand on Ray's story more, but like What would you do? I would like to see her parents story. Yeah. That would be a fun, like, how did they get to where they were? Right? Because Palpatine's that's Palpatine's son. Right. So what happened? One, who did Palpatine have a child with? Two, you ran away and you met someone who would marry a Pal like if did He wasn't always like that. You know what I mean? Palpatine? Yeah. But he was since he was like normal I know for a long time. Yeah, but like what was it which movie was it? I don't know but wasn't it back in the originals? No because or the sequels. I think it was the sequels because he he was still like quote unquote normal looking. Like he was normal looking guy. In the one that Natalie Portman played. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. what's her name? Alaya. No. No. So that would be the originals. No. That would be the sequels. my gosh. We were first introduced to Palpatine in Star Wars. and the Empire Strikes Back. Which was what I don't know. It doesn't tell me. Well that's in nineteen eighty. okay. So that's one of the first movies, right? People are yelling at us. So I don't know. What is our watch order? here it is. no. Yes. So that's what I'm saying. But Empire Strikes Back, he's still a normal guy, right? And then at the end, isn't that the one where at the end Saw the Emperor on the screen, but is originally as a hologram portrayed differently than later versions. So in Return of the Jedi was the first time we saw Ian McDermott as Emperor Palteen in per in person properly interacting with Luke and Vader. So he was Sinator, Palpatine and the Phantom Menace. Okay. Okay. So the so we saw so we met him in the original movies. And then but as the senator, right? No, no, the original movies were not the prequels. Right. Right, right, right, right. So but when we see him as a senator, it's the prequel. So he's been in the series all throughout. All throughout. So that's what I'm saying. I would love to see. Like his kid his son would I guess have to be around Luke and Leia's age in theory. Like I don't know. I would that would be a story I would enjoy seeing is what I'm saying. I know we've gotten kind of off topic, but 'cause again would be. Right, would who had a child with Palpatine? Yeah. Well. You know. Would this movie have worked better if Kylo Ren had remained the main villain? I guess not. No, because what happens to him at the end again? I forgot. He dies. He does, right? Yeah. Ray Ray, right? Yeah. And they're like their whole like dynamic couldn't have worked if he remained right. Kylo Run. Right. I also wouldn't mind more of a backstory on him. Do we get one? I don't think so. I don't know. Is that one of the shows? I don't know. I don't know. We're not gonna watch it for the podcast, but I might watch it by myself if it is. If it's not, it Okay, so Ray's training and her fear of the dark side. So Ray continues training with Leia while struggling with her connection to Kylo Ren and fears about who he might become. Ray is powerful, determined, and constantly trying to prove that she can control her own destiny. Her internal conflict is one of the strongest parts of the movie. She is not only fighting Palpatine, she is also fighting the fear that she may become like him. Don't, don't, don't. Okay, a couple things about the whole Ray, Finn, and Poe thing. When she's training, you know, she's in her Jedi, whatever, and Finn and Poe have to come back. And Poe's like Poe's making her feel guilty about not being with them. Poe was. Yes. He wasn't making he was like kinda mean about it. I don't remember that. I mean I kind of do, but my I like the biggest thing I took from that was like, do you not see what she's like actually doing here? Like this is important. She's doing like she's taking the time to be the Jedi. Whereas Luke, I feel like on the opposite side of the spectrum was like, I need to rush, I need to go, I need to go, I need to go. So I don't know. I thought that was a nice little Mirror. Yeah. did Ray's training scenes work for you? Yeah. Yeah. I know. Did you like seeing Leia as Ray's mentor? Yes. Yes. Do you did Leah know the whole time? Yeah. She did? Okay. Yeah, because at the toward the end, she was like, I think Ben at this point, right? Kylan wasn't Kyler, he was Ben. I think he mentioned something like. She knew or like you know she knows or something like that. And she was like, She knew the whole time and didn't tell me. I think that was that interaction. Okay. But yeah, I mean I think like I know. I feel like it was a good No, I didn't do and she 'cause she could have I mean ultimately that's why a lot of the Jedi's didn't want Luke to be trained. I mean Anakin. Anakin. Anakin to be trained. Because they s they did sense that in him. Yeah. She sensed it in her, but still Right. You know? So hmm. And that's a good that's a good mirror. Like right, 'cause that's Leah's Luke's daughter. And so she knew, you know, she can't sense all of that. did Ray's fear of the dark side feel believable? I could never tell if it was a fear of the dark side. Like I knew she was I knew like what was happening but and I could tell she was like fighting against something and fighting against the dark side but I don't know. It just didn't It wasn't obvious, I guess. I mean I thought maybe to me. I don't know. I guess to me I she was definitely like scared of what she was she might be covering. Yeah. How did she find out she had a vision, right? Kyla were in like in one of their weird connector thingies. Yeah. Like we're sitting on a throne next to each other kind of Yeah. Yeah. And that just like messed with her the whole Right. Right. Did the movie give Ray enough emotional development? I would hope so. I mean it's about her. Although the whole time I was like, Who's the Skywalker here? Like, are we it's a rise of Skywalker, but correct It's not really That is true. She's more like a Like an honorary skywalker. Right. She ends up becoming right, right, right. Well, 'cause she does say it at the end. Yeah. That's why. But she right, but still. Like sh the whole time I was okay, she's clearly not related to them. Now we know for sure. Right. I don't know. Unless there's some like you know, bombshell that we haven't figured out. Who knows? No, I think she's supposed to be honorary. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She has Leia's lightsabers. Yep. Leah was her mentor. Yeah. Yeah. Luke came to her and the island, whatever. Right. Yeah. Loki, there was more chemistry, in my opinion, between her and Kylo Ren than there was between her and Finn, but that's I mean they kissed. I don't think her and Finn ever kissed, did they? That's true. Yeah. But Finn was so obviously. In love with her. Yeah. Although I feel like in that one, Finn gets an a new little Ray girl from No, that was man, not Finn. I get them confused. Poe. Poe was in love with her. Poe's the one who was like when they were sinking in the sink sinking sand, who was like, Well, I need to tell you something, Ray. Or was that Finn? I get them confused. That was Finn. That was Finn. Okay. Poe's the one who had met the little girl, the little robot face. Yes. On things Z Zori. Zori. Zuri Zori. Yes. So who I don't know her name. she was on that one. They were writing the I can't. This is why. Guys. This is why we're glad. Okay, so Surely her name is in here somewhere. She's from the one planet they went to and they did Finn? Yes. Kiss anyone. Okay, we're asking chat. What was her name? They were fighting together. He develops feelings for Rose, and Rose fisses fish kisses Finn at the end of The Last Jedi. After saving him. Rose is the only person Finn kisses is kissed by on screen. I cannot remember her name. Remember they like stayed behind and and then they had the Millennium had to go and scoop up. She was She was she was from the first order too. And she talked about how they recruited her as a kid. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. I don't know her name. Did they kiss at the end? No, don't think so. But I just got a little, you know, like a little hint. Like, there's some maybe chemistry there. know. I don't know. I don't know. Anyway. But yes, the whole, like, up until that point for me, I thought for sure Finn was really into Ray. Well, he was. Yeah. Because he wanted like not so much with thin though. No. Didn't really return the feelings. Okay. Okay, so the next part, Rin, Right, Finn, Pocheoey. my gosh. C3PO P eight. Exagol. Whatever. Watch the movie. I did. Did you? Yes. Okay. It's pronounced an Exegol. Okay. Did you get it right? Thanks a gall. Along the way, they search for Sith wayfinders, decode agent messages, visit new planets, and uncover secrets from the past. This movie feels like a giant Star Wars scavenger hunt. There is always another clue, another artifact, or another location to find. That gives the movie a fun adventure feeling, but it also makes the story feel rushed because so much has to happen in such a short amount of time. I guess. If you're thinking that was a short amount of time. I didn't think it was a short amount of time. two and a half hours was plenty long for me. Did the movie feel rushed? Absolutely not. No. Did you understand the Sith Wayfinder plot? Yeah. Yeah. Which location was your favorite? Wherever Bobufrick was, honestly. I kinda liked where they I don't know where it was, but where the Death Star was. Was that the planet where they met the the girl and the people that like tribe of people that rode those animals or something? I the But like Ray yeah Ray took a ship out to The Death Star and it was looking the really choppy waters. She was like, I'll take you tomorrow morning and she was like, We can't wait. Remember? And then for the next part. my gosh. Trying to It was one of the planets they went to. Okay. And they were, you know, they were finding they were looking for the wayfinder. Okay, one of the most important questions in here is not in here. Did you cry when you thought Chewie died? No. No. I was like I believed it. I was a hundred percent. I was like No. I was like, they're not gonna do that. Because who was it? Who who was it? Was it Finn? He was like, Chew it! Like, my gosh, no. Yeah, no. I mean they were literally like Okay. I don't know, it was the last movie. Who knows? Yeah, right? I mean for now. Okay. Who knows? All right. I d I did like them jumping to the different places. I like a little alien coachella, like because that's what it felt like. That's what next is burning on. Okay. Alien music festival with drugs. okay. Ray and Kylo continue communicating through the force. Their connection becomes even stronger as they fight, challenge, and understand each other. They are enemies, but they also seem to be the only two people who truly understand what the other is going through. Their relationship remains one of the most complicated parts of the sequel trilogy. The movie clearly wants us to see their connection as central to the story, but whether that relationship works depending is depends on how convincing their previous interactions felt. Do you feel like the force did you like the force connection between Ray and Kylo? For the most part. I did. I felt like it got a little I liked it. Okay. I liked all of it. I don't I don't I couldn't tell you exactly why. I just felt like, it's Kylo Run again. But I but as someone who reads like fantasy novels, the 'cause he felt very anti hero to me in this movie. Like not necessarily full villain. Like and I don't know, I liked and then a lot of fantasy novels, it's like the anti heroes in the heroine's head because of the magic and all this I don't know. It just felt like that gave me the same kind of vibe. So yeah. I did enjoy so felt believable. Yes. Yes, it very much did. Their relationship believable. I've already said I think they had more chemistry than Loki, any other couple they've tried to put on screen in front of us. Like Luke and Leia, not Luke and Leia. Leia and Han. Leia and Han. Like I I don't know if it's just because of the time it was filmed, but like that like the chemistry between Kylo Ren and Ray to me was like off the charts. Again, could be the fantasy novel. with the dark, mysterious anti hero kind of thing. But who knows. Yeah. Okay. It's a did their relationship receive too much focus? I mean That's part of the part of it. Moving It's like part of yeah, it's like a really big part of the movie. Yeah. Next. Okay. As much as it annoyed me sometimes, it's still important. Yeah. Okay. Ray has spent the past three movies trying to figure out where she belongs. Then we found out dun dun dun, she's a palpatine. The reveal completely changes how we view Ray's story. Instead of being a nobody from an unimportant family, she is connected to one of the most powerful villains in the galaxy. Okay. Did anybody think she was a nobody? Yeah. I think most people did. I know. I think if you understand cinema and storytelling, you know she's not just a nobody. But that's kind of what she's been told her whole life. And what she's like. But no bother. I was like, she has to be someone. I didn't know who. But I was like, she's not just some random person. Well, no. Yeah, that's true. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Yeah. Like I knew there was going, I could I would have never guessed a Palpatine. Right. Yeah. I would have somehow like been like, okay, she's someone's I thought she was a cousin. Yeah. I was like, there's some like we didn't know nothing about Luke's relationships and children. Like, I don't know. So I I that wasn't believable. for some viewers this makes her struggle more dramatic. For others, it takes away from the message of the last Jedi, which suggested that someone important could come from anywhere. Okay, that's fair. Did you like the way Palpatine reveal? No, I was I didn't want Palpatine back. So no. That's not well, I think it satisfies that like like you just said, like she was someone. Right. And I get the good like good versus evil, nerd nature versus nurture. Like there's a lot of that in this like film series to begin with. So that makes sense as to why it had to happen. Were you shocked? Yes. Did it feel planned from the beginning? no. That was a write in. Right. Did you prefer the idea that Ray was anybody? No. I wanted her to be Luke's kid. I'm not gonna lie. Right. Really that's what I really wanted. Yeah. Does but then that makes but then if she was Luke's kid, she couldn't have the chemistry with Kylo Ren. Because he's they'd be cousins. So Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I guess I'm okay with that. does if I wrote fanfiction. Ray and Kylo Ren would be my fanfiction. does Ray being related to Palpatine make her any s her story stronger or weaker? I mean If we're going off of what we have then it would be stronger. Right. I don't think it would make it weaker at all, ever. Even if she wasn't nobody, even if like I don't know. Well, but those things can't be true at the same time. Right. That's true. I think it made it stronger because she like now she's like, like I actually kind of have a reason to be afraid of the dark side. Like that's true. Whereas before she didn't realize maybe why. Why? Yeah. Yep. Did the reveal make her final choice choice more meaningful? I guess her final choice of her name. I think final choice means. Light side. Light side, dark side. Okay. But I don't know. Sure. Maybe maybe not. I guess we could take that e any way we want to. The big question Is it more powerful that Ray chooses to become a skyw walker even though she wasn't born one? I think it's more meaningful. For sure. Yeah. But I also don't think she chose. Honestly. I think I mean she chose the the light side, but like she had all these people surrounding her and mentoring her. And so I think it was kind of her destiny. Yeah. I don't think she she chose the she she put the light like she was all just Ray, and then sh at the end she said she was a skywalker, but Don't forget to be. I think it was always there. Thanks a lot. Okay. okay, so now we're getting into C3PO's memory. One of the funniest and saddest moments comes from when C3PO has his memory wiped. before the procedure, he says, take one last look, sir, at my friends. That was a good I mean, they had a lot of good lines and moments and surprises. For this being the l last movie. Yeah. If it is the last movie. Yeah. I mean they brought yeah. So they brought back Lando. Was not expecting that. That was kind of a cool That was a cool one, for sure. Did you think C three PO was actually gonna permanently lose his memory? No, they told us. They were like, R2 has right before that it was like R two has like all the data backed up and then C three PO's like, I don't trust R2 or whatever. Someone says it. It's like not reliable. Right, right. And then guess who has it? He deserves an apology. I also like that other little droid we have now. He was cute too. Looks kinda like a way. C PO yeah. I think yeah. during the confrontation with Kylo, right accidentally uses the force lightning and believes she's destroyed the transport carrying Chewy. We already kind of talked about this one. Honestly, now that I think about it, the lightning is palpatine. Like that's his thing, right? But at that point She didn't we didn't know. But if we had if we had known if we had well, sh we should have known. Right? I bet I bet real Star Wars exactly. That's what I'm saying. If we if you were a real Star Wars fan, yes. Did you watch all the movies up to this point? Yeah, probably. Yeah. Like that's all right, right. The true ones knew. okay, Leah's final story. Now this one, because I remember this. I remember seeing the line. So Carrie Fisher passed away before the movie was completed. So the filmmakers had to find a way to include Leia in the final chapter. See, that's what I was wondering. Leia reaches out to her son one final time through the force, helping bring Ben Solo back from the dark side. Leia's role is limited, but her presence carries enormous emotional weight. Her final scenes are made more powerful by knowing that this was Carrie Fisher's last appearance as Leia, and then the goodbye princess. They say someone says goodbye, princess, and I'm When she's under the like me think I was like, Okay, yeah, she probably passed away during the filming. Was it during the filming? Or well it says before the movie was complete. Yeah. Either way, I thought it was a nice tribute. It was. It was beautiful. So she had completed filming. So no. That's what I thought. It's all previously used footage. I remember reading all this. She died after the last Jedi. This says before the movie was completed. So that's a little misleading, but Either way. They did a job. Yeah, they did a good job. They did a good job with her death. Yeah, I remember that being a big one. Kylo Ren becomes Ben Solo. Kylo Ren has spent this trilogy struggling with his identity and his connection to the light side. After Leia reaches out to him and Han Solo appears in a memory-like conversation, Kylo finally lets go of his identity as Kylo Ren and becomes Ben Solo again. Ben's Redemption is one of the movie's most emotional moments, but it also happens very late in the story and we only get a short amount of time with Ben before the movie moves towards its conclusion. Did Kylo deserve redemption? Yeah, I think so. I think it's kind of a You're always hoping, right? Always hoping that someone will Make the right choice. Yes. Yeah. Did Han's appearance work for you emotionally? I liked it. Yeah. Yeah. What did you think about Leia being the person who helped bring Ben back? I mean it's his mom. Yeah. So I know, right. Who also I mean, I guess Ray could have done it, but I think it was powerful the way they did it. Would you have liked to see more of Ben after his redemption? Yes. Mm-hmm. Hot take Ben Solo's redemption happened way too late. I don't know if that's a hot take. I think everybody agre could agree with that. I could be wrong. No, but it could have happened earlier in the movie. No, no, no. Yeah. Like you said, like, yeah, it's like anti hero or I don't know. so Ray and Ben's connection. Ray and Ben fight together against Palpatine and their connection reaches its emotional conclusion when Ben gives his life to bring Ray back. Then they kiss. Apparently the kiss is one of the most debated moments in the movie. Some viewers see it as the natural conclusion of their connection, while others feel it comes out of nowhere. It was not out of nowhere. There was so much chemistry the whole time. Yeah. I I could see if you were a man and you just cared about the fighting and the I could see it. But no. Yeah. Also it was just a kid. Right. Like if it had been more I'd been like, Whoa, like stay in your lane, Star Wars. I don't know. I wish we would have explored it more, Star Wars, but that's just me. Okay. Very important poll. Raylo, yes or absolutely not. Yes, I'm here for it. Especially a name. That's the perfect couple name. Raylo, yeah. Honestly, I kind of just like that as a name. No, absolutely not. Okay, so Finn and Poe continue help leading the resistance. But both characters leave the movie with unresolved questions. Finn appears to have a connection to the force, and Poe learns more about his past while growing into his role as a leader. Finn and Poe remain likable and entertaining, but the movie does not give either character much development as many viewers hoped. Finn's possible force sensitivity is especially frustrating because it is hinted at but never fully explored. What do you think Finn was trying to tell right that he loved her? Duh. shouldn't even be a question. did Poe have a sad I think Poe had a satisfying ending. Like they were like Leia is putting you in charge, like you're the new general. He and I think Finn did too. Well yeah, because he immediately named Finn as like they were like co generals or whatever. But then like at the big battle when someone I forgot who said it, but they were like, We don't have enough people and Finn was like, No. We have enough, they will come. Like I don't I felt like they're Yeah. It was full circle. Yeah. Yeah. So I don't agree. It says Fit had one of the most wasted storylines in the entire Star Wars training. I think if the goal was to always have that chemistry with Ray Low, as we're now calling them, I think you They could have done something differently than have Finn pining after her. Yeah. But he was always just kind of like there. Right. But if we could have seen more of like how like what we got with that girl you were trying to tell me about, who we still don't know her name, who was a stormtrooper, and she was like, I was also taken as a or like I was also an orphan and put into the Star Trooper Path, like storm trooper path, sorry. If we could have seen more stuff with that. Yeah. I don't know. The more that think about it though. I mean him and Rose did have like a continual like thing since they met. So I feel like maybe not in this movie. Yeah. But it says like the whole franchise he was like I don't agree with that. No, not in this movie. Yeah, we could have done a little bit more. But then if he's all if he likes Rose then why do they have him so seemingly yeah right? I just feel like his character it might have not been a waste but it wasn't fully developed. Yeah. In a good way. It's like just wanted they wanted they don't know what they wanted, a love interest, right? Obviously in the original trilogy there was a love interest. There was Leia and Han Solo. In the second trilogy, there was obviously a love interest between Anakin and Padme. So like they were looking for it probably. And we didn't see it, right? We didn't get it until this movie that, in my opinion, Raylo all the way. But they were trying to make it be Finn and Ray. Right. When we could have done something different. Yeah. Yeah. okay, Final Battle. The takes on Palpatine and the final order above what's that name again? Exegol. Exegol. While Ray faces Palpatine on the ground, the resistance appears to be completely outmatched until citizens from across the galaxy arrive to help. The final battle is visually huge and filled with familiar Star Wars im imagery. It is designed to feel like the culmination of the entire saga, but the scale can also make the battle feel overwhelming. Did the final battle feel epic? Was the giant fleet too much? I didn't I'm not a battle person, but I did get that sense of Star Wars. It did feel with the fleet coming to help. Right. It it felt kind of like what it's supposed to be. Right. Right. Right. Good guys versus bad guys. Right. Yeah. What did you think about the Citizens of the Galaxy finally showing up? Fantastic. Yeah, I know, right? Did it feel like a satisfying conclusion to all nine movies? Yes. Yeah. Please don't make any more. We won't be watching them. we might watch them, but just not for this. Okay, then we get the final exchange. I am all the Sith versus and I am all the Jedi. Did that moment give you chills or was it a little cheesy? Hmm. I don't know. That's all right. Yeah. I mean, I kind of knew it was cutting at that point, but I think we kind of already talked about some of this stuff. So he defeats Palpatine. She uses the Jedi who came before her to stand against Palpatine and ultimately defeats him. Did the victory feel earned? Yes. Yeah. Did you like hearing the voices of the past Jedi? Yes, I did like bringing in the past Jedi. Ben Solos what? I was just gonna say I did not like his Palpatine's little like they called him they called them disciples because like we had the subtitles. I did not like that. I didn't even text them. Yeah. The chain was really creepy to me. Well. I mean he's evil, so it says. Yeah. So after Ray is killed by Palpatine, Ben uses the force to bring her back. Light, he succeeds, but the act costs him his own life. Ben's sacrifices emotional, but it also raises questions about whether he needed to die. After finally returning to the light, he gets only a few moments of happiness before disappearing. I kind of agree with that. Like we could have seen something else. You know? Why did it have to be a sacrifice? Right. But Haven't all the trilogies ended with a major sacrifice from a villain? But he wasn't a villain anymore. Palpatine was dead. There you go. Sac done. True. Okay. Then I I agree with you. I yeah. I'm just thinking cinematically. I just and story wise. Well, okay, I guess story w like if he had stayed alive, they could make another movie, I guess, with their you know, more of their Story. Yeah. Maybe they just wanted to like put an end to it. I guess. hot take been solo deserved more than approximately five minutes of happiness. I don't think that's a hot take. I don't think it is, yeah. All right. So at the very end we get Ray back in touch. She's burying Luke and Leah's lightsabers. And someone asks, Ray, who? And she responds, Ray Skywalker. The ending is meant to sh I know, right? The ending is meant to show that Ray has chosen her own family and identity. She's not defined by Chopatine's legacy. Instead she chooses to carry forward the legacy of Luke and Leia. For some viewers it is a beautiful conclusion. For others, it feels forced or too focused on the Skywalker name. Who has issues with it? AI, apparently. Apparently. If you actually have issues with that, comment so we can get the engagement. But stay out of the code. Did you want then? You know? I don't know. To say she's a Palpatine, but like I'm a new version of Palpatine? Yeah. Whatever. Maybe. okay, there's a bunch of stuff we're not gonna go through because we are not the biggest Star Wars fans, but they have they want us to like rate fans of perlatives and I don't know. That's not we're done. We finished the mission was You were like You were like we're supposed to watch a Star Wars movie. I was like, let's just do it. To get it over with.
