- 0:16Hello, and welcome everybody to episode twenty eight of Cards and Categories. I
- 0:21am Mike Coolard from Rasball, joined here as always by my very good friend
- 0:25Jeremy Brewer, also from rasball. How you doing tonight? Group? Doing
- 0:30just fine? Is a wonderful, wonderful evening here in central Illinois despite the
- 0:37weather that we've been having where everything is freezy, but that's okay. It's
- 0:42almost baseball season and that makes everything feel so much better. So excited to
- 0:48get into the podsnight for sure. Yeah, And it's obviously great time of
- 0:53year to just sit inside and look at spreadsheets of baseball. So like that's
- 0:56what I've been diving into. Starting ross decisions, keep your decisions, and
- 1:02lots of fantasy leagues are coming up here soon, and lots of leagues are
- 1:07getting to draft planning because the Career Series is March twentieth, and that's going
- 1:11to really compress the draft season, I think. So if you are commissioner
- 1:15out there and are just learning that, good luck trying to get that all
- 1:19figured out over the next four to six weeks. So I always love those
- 1:23early series and it's like your league goes in as like the guy that hit
- 1:26two home ruws in the early series and like the stat's cow, he was
- 1:29like, how high is this guy? Is a no name gonna go like
- 1:33he's going to like the fifth rounds somewhere, I'm getting by two homers.
- 1:34Yeah, set it and forget it, baby, right exactly. But yeah,
- 1:41this week we're going to do a preview of the NL West. Will
- 1:45be joined by Matt Trussell from Rasball, our editor and he's the one that
- 1:49runs the RcLs, all the raz Slam leagues and updates, so he will
- 1:55be previewing all of the NL West teams with us after we get into some
- 2:00news, and we're gonna do a cards section here with the news because we'll
- 2:06get to it after the quick transactions. But Stadium Club twenty twenty three drops
- 2:13on Wednesday, the twenty fourth, so we're recording this a little bit earlier
- 2:19in the week on the twenty third, so we're previewing that release and when
- 2:23you hear the spot, you should be able to go out and buy Stadium
- 2:25Club wherever you can find it. So, like I said, let's get
- 2:30into some news and transactions. So we've got a couple of reliever moves to
- 2:36kick off the analysis for fantasy this week, and the big one is Josh
- 2:40Hater signing in Houston for the I think they're technically calling it the biggest contract
- 2:47for reliever in history because of like the delayed money in the Edwin Diaz contract,
- 2:53but Josh Hater is going to the Houston Astros for ninety five million dollars.
- 2:59The lefty has been, I would say a little bit of like a
- 3:02volatile reliever over the past couple of years. After being just a steady eddy
- 3:07like fourteen K nine forty saves Monster for the beginning of season, has started
- 3:15to kind of show a little wear and tear and battle walks in his time
- 3:19in San Diego a little bit after doing that in Milwaukee too before leaving town.
- 3:23So Josh Hader is ending up in Houston, taking over for Presley and
- 3:28pushing him out the door. Brew. What do you think about this landing
- 3:30spot for Hater and what it means for his fantasy value? Yeah, I
- 3:36don't know if it really changes for me Josh Hater's fantasy value besides guarantee that
- 3:40he has, you know, a job. Maybe you know, I can
- 3:45argue if anything, because Ryan Presley's there that maybe there's a little more pressure
- 3:51on him that you know, if he doesn't perform, then he's does a
- 3:53little bit shorter leashed to a degree. But I just don't see that with
- 3:57Josh Hater. So I don't think there's really anything to worry about. Is,
- 4:00you know, one of the top three four closers in the game from
- 4:03a fantasy perspective, and he should continue to go there. I think the
- 4:09Josh Hater move is less about Josh Hater than it is about Ryan Presley at
- 4:13the end of the day. So love Hater there. I think he's gonna
- 4:15be great and we'll invest with confidence if somebody else doesn't beat me to it.
- 4:20So how about you, do you like landon spot? Yeah? I
- 4:24totally agree there that if you had any hesitations with Hater in the past,
- 4:29or just like the Walks, I could see, like you know, him
- 4:31maybe not being your cup of tea and wanting to go somewhere else for a
- 4:34closer one because of that that you think that there is some sort of blow
- 4:40up happening. But when it's all said and done, Hater has still been
- 4:45a really dependable source of strikeouts and a low ear RA and should be a
- 4:49low whip even with some of those walks. But he's just a really great
- 4:54closer that yeah, should be top three four and I'm willing to take him
- 4:58if he's there, and you know, I'm looking for a closer around his
- 5:02time, So I don't think there's any problems with being in Houston and it
- 5:08should be a pretty comfortable situation, good winning team for him. Yeah.
- 5:13So really, like I said, I think the bigger impact is Ryan Presley,
- 5:15which was he was going off the board, you know, picked one
- 5:19hundred one ten somewhere in there is and he was kind of right at the
- 5:25beginning to that second tier of closers, like the guys that actually have a
- 5:29job that you rely on, like what used to be back in the day
- 5:31you could be like twenty twenty five guys were like yeah, they're they're closers,
- 5:35and it's like the last five guys are trying to figured it out like
- 5:39anymore, Like if you're trying to get like solid reliable closers, there's like
- 5:42maybe two per team like at best, and Presley was absolutely one of those
- 5:46guys in kind of like the Alexis Diaz, Pete Fairbanks like kind of area
- 5:54and you just kind of, you know, set it, forget it.
- 5:57He would, you know, every once in a while, have a little
- 5:59miss step and then he'd be fine again. Like he was perfectly fine.
- 6:02So especially if you drafted early. Ouch, this really really hurts those teams.
- 6:10And I'm Presley's value absolutely tanks with with this move. I didn't see
- 6:14it coming. I didn't see the Astros picking up Hater. I think we
- 6:17all thought he was going elsewhere and here we are. Yeah, And I
- 6:24mean I had a few just I wasn't sure about like Brian Presley, his
- 6:30stuff backed up a little bit last year. He didn't look quite as sharp
- 6:34that I was touting Brian Brahew a lot in my columns last year, and
- 6:40just from talent perspective and just it didn't look like Presley was very healthy.
- 6:46So you're kind of waiting for that shoe to drop. He held on to
- 6:48the closer drop all year. So Presley, I think in that second tier
- 6:53was maybe a little bit of a riskier pick than people I think we're giving
- 6:58him because of what a bray you was doing. But obviously this totally closes
- 7:02the door on Presley. And I wouldn't be surprised if a Brewer is actually
- 7:05still kind of like the number two in line there because from a skills perspective,
- 7:12a bray You honestly might even be the best one in that pen with
- 7:15that electric fastball and the wipeout slider. But I think Houston really loves being
- 7:20able to use Brian a bray You in mix and match spots and putting him
- 7:27in the highest, highest leverage. So don't want to give him that full
- 7:29closer role, you know. Yeah, But I mean they will be a
- 7:32dangerous bullpen, that's for sure. Like it gives them lots of options,
- 7:36lots of things to play with, and a lot of matchups they can play.
- 7:39So makes perfect souch from a baseball perspective. Like I said, from
- 7:43a fancy perspective, hater doesn't get much what's changed in this one. Just
- 7:46Presley gets the tumble. Yeah, exactly. So we've got another reliever slash.
- 7:51I don't, Well, he's not going to be closing yet. He's
- 7:54going to be a setup man, and that is going to be Robert Stevenson
- 7:58signing with the Angels. So I think this is a great landing spot for
- 8:01him because he's one step away from being a closer, which I think people
- 8:07were thinking Stevenson could step in somewhere and take over a closer's job. He
- 8:11really broke out last year with the Rays as they retooled his arsenal former number
- 8:16one pick with the Cincinnati Reds and bounced around to places like Colorado. I
- 8:22mean, Robert Stevenson's been everywhere, and so I think that he's got a
- 8:28really great landing spot in Anaheim where he's backing up Carlos Estevez, another shaky
- 8:33closer. So this is a guy that last year, like Presley, I
- 8:37was calling for his demise most of the year, and he even lost the
- 8:41job for a little bit. I remember hose Kihata getting some slaves in there,
- 8:46and it was just a little bit of a mess, just like the
- 8:48rest of the Angel season. So Robert Stevenson, like I said, setting
- 8:52up, but maybe providing some sort of Brian A. Bray You esque fantasy
- 8:58value for right now and with one eye at the closer job, brew,
- 9:01what do you think this means for Robert Stevenson And are you taking him in
- 9:09maybe some standard like twelve teen to fifteen team drafts. I absolutely am taking
- 9:15Robert Stevenson, and maybe I have missed reports. I haven't seen anything outright
- 9:18says that Stevenson is not going to be the closer. Okay, yeah,
- 9:20right, two of the Angels, and I look at Estevez and I go,
- 9:24man, this is a guy that you know, seems like he's always
- 9:28out of a job, like he's barely kept his era in the threes.
- 9:33His indicators are always in the fours, like just Shakey's all get shaky.
- 9:37And Stevenson was absolutely brilliant when he made some adjustments down down the stretch for
- 9:43the Rays. So I think that this is one of those guys that I
- 9:48am picking up a lot in drafts, especially if people are not sure if
- 9:52he is the closer or not, because regardless, he gives you great ratios,
- 9:56great strikeouts. He's gonna be fantastic for your ratios. But I think
- 10:00that there's a good chance that Stevenson leads the Angels and saves this year,
- 10:05and I don't think it takes that long, if at all, for him
- 10:07to claim that role. So I love this landing spot for Stevenson because I
- 10:11think this is one of the few spots where he legitimately could be the closer
- 10:16out of the gate, depending on how things go in spring training. All
- 10:18it takes is Steves to look a little shaky, and you know, the
- 10:22Angels many don't. They don't have time to mess around like that team has
- 10:26gott to try to deliver, so they're not going to give as much of
- 10:30a leash at all. Yeah. No, I think that's a great read
- 10:33too. So I like Stevenson's skills that. Yeah, he should hopefully get
- 10:37a shot at that because I think he would excel as a closer and even
- 10:41if the Angels are bad, like finding something that is steady with that type
- 10:45of talent level is tough. Yeah, I think that the biggest winner out
- 10:48of all all of this jose Leclairic from the Rangers. Everybody thought the Rangers
- 10:54going to go out and get somebody at the back of that bullpen and they
- 10:58didn't. And uh, he looks like the incumbent closer for the Rangers on
- 11:03a good team. Still, Scar scares me a little bit exactly like he
- 11:09has. But like he's probably the clear winner here of Yeah, stay in
- 11:13the job that not many folks thought he'd have. I totally agree, And
- 11:16I mean, you want to talk about a guy with walk issues. Jose
- 11:20Leakirk is maybe like number one with the bullet on that list that he is
- 11:26a tough guy to watch and it's it's a high wire act, but wow,
- 11:30that would be quite a boon if you've drafted jose Le clok early or
- 11:35hold him in Dynasty or in these sort of keeper formats, because it could
- 11:39be a really cheap thirty plus saves at the end of the year when it's
- 11:43all said and done. Yeah, you might get some heartburn during it,
- 11:46but still he's got one of those guys it's like, yeah, uh,
- 11:52pre closer, why not? Yeah, okay. And a couple of smaller
- 11:56signings. We've got James Paxton's signing with the Dodge to fit in at the
- 12:01back end of that starting rotation whenever he's healthy. So James Paxton, obviously
- 12:07we know what we're getting into with the big maple here. He's never really
- 12:11been able to keep it together in terms of health since he's gone down with
- 12:16I think shoulder and Tommy John since he really shined in Seattle. So Brew,
- 12:24I know you've always been a big time James Pactiston fan. What do
- 12:26you think about him landing in LA and is he going to end up on
- 12:31eighty percent of your teams are ninety percent of your teams. Yeah, I
- 12:35think the the over unders ninety seven percent of my team's for James Paxton.
- 12:39I absolutely love James Paxton, love the skill set. When he's healthy,
- 12:45he has everything that I'm looking for in a pitcher. It's just when he's
- 12:48healthy. I think the only reason I might not own him this year is
- 12:52because he's landed with the Dodgers and somebody else is going to be like,
- 12:54hey, if the Dodgers believe in him, then I believe in him.
- 12:58So there might be some some Dodgers truthers out there, but I really like
- 13:03the landing spot for James Paxton. I really think there's a lot to be
- 13:07desired and he's not. You know what. He's been brought into his last
- 13:13few roles with the Yankees with Boston, like folks are looking for him to
- 13:18be a front line starter, hoping for that frontline starter, and he does
- 13:24not have to be that with the Dodgers, Like he just has to try
- 13:26to stay healthy and be who he always has been. So I like it.
- 13:31It excites me for James Paxton. I just hope the helium doesn't bring
- 13:35the number for me under the ninety seven percent. Yeah, I do think
- 13:39that there will be some helium because it is LA and this is James Paxton
- 13:45has a great strikeout record, and it's gonna be tough, I think to
- 13:48pick him up because I think others are going to be excited if he is
- 13:52there and you can find him in a spot where you can cycle him in
- 13:56and out and have you know, spot start and be prepared to stash him
- 14:01to injury lists. It's great, but I think it's going to be a
- 14:05little tough because people love the landing spot. I'm gonna try to snipe some
- 14:09easy wins out of James Paxton in LA. So absolutely speaking of a former
- 14:15Dodger. Here a very short tenure in Titteltown, Joey Gallo outfielder signing with
- 14:22the Washington Nationals on a one year, five million dollar deal, and it's
- 14:26I think this is a great landing spot for Joey Gallo to try to find
- 14:31some semblance of value again, even though I mean he had some last year
- 14:35in terms of like real life value. Put up a one oh four WRC
- 14:39plus and can be a DH corner guy. And I don't know if you
- 14:43could have thought of like a better spot for him to land than Washington,
- 14:48where he should get quite a bit of playing time and a chance to make
- 14:52good And if he plays really well, gallow should be able to play himself
- 14:56right out of Washington and into a contender the deadline. So, Brew,
- 15:01do you see Joey Gallo being able to like be ownable in Washington, because
- 15:07like he's known for his power. I think he'll bring the power. The
- 15:09question is whether or not you can stomach the batting average and if Joey Gallo
- 15:16himself can even cross the Mendoza line, which he hasn't been across since twenty
- 15:20nineteen. Yeah, I want to make the case that you can own him
- 15:26like an OBP league, And I still want to think I gave you that
- 15:28case when he's barely you know, breaking three hundred at times with his OBP.
- 15:33So you know, Gallo is like, is it fair to say the
- 15:39diet Kyle Schwarber, who I'm already out on and so like it's just less
- 15:43horrors and more strikeouts and a worse average, Like you know, he is
- 15:48the true three outcomes player. And I do like the fact that he should
- 15:54get some plaining time with the Nationals' I'm shocked that he got five million dollars
- 15:58on to your deal. Like if I could be that bad at my job
- 16:03for for five years and still get five million, Like I'm in the wrong
- 16:07line of work for sure. So I'm out on Joey Gallo. Like maybe,
- 16:11like I said, an OBP league, but like even then, it's
- 16:15just a headache that's not worth it. So I don't know, are you
- 16:17buying Joey Gallo? Am I off here? No? I don't think I
- 16:21am that. I think there will be situations where you're obviously gonna depend on
- 16:27him because you're gonna run into injuries and he's gonna be sitting there on the
- 16:30waiver wire and when you're only trying to get you know, a week or
- 16:34two out of gallow that batting average isn't sinking you too hard. But yeah,
- 16:40even in like an N only league, it's almost hurting him that he
- 16:44is gonna play pretty much full time in Washington, I think because he's gonna
- 16:48just take at bats and grind hit your batting average. You know, we're
- 16:52talking a guy who hit won seventy seven last year, one sixty the year
- 16:56before one one and that's really tough to stomach because the even the ceiling there
- 17:03is what maybe two fifteen to twenty. Like the nice thing about Schwerber is
- 17:08like the ceiling is like two forty. You know that there is a path,
- 17:11there's at least, oh, there's at least yeah forever. But with
- 17:15Gallo there's the and the floor is like one fifty, like and they might
- 17:21let him play. Yeah, I mean, you know, I was at
- 17:23least hoping, like if you look at a guy like Gallo, like maybe
- 17:26at least he has like splits, like at least maybe he crushes lefties,
- 17:30but no, he's just as bad against the lefties easy as the righties,
- 17:33or I don't want to say bad, like he's again he's one of those
- 17:37players like he can change a game with a swing single swing of bat,
- 17:40like from a major league perspective, like there's some value in that, especially
- 17:42in today's game, but like from a fantasy perspective, like he just completely
- 17:48torpedoes like so bad. I wish I had had the time to in mathematical
- 17:52skills to do the deviations from the mean, uh state of debuations from the
- 17:56mean, because like he you know, Gallo has just got to be so
- 18:00far off, Like how many good average hitters do you have to have if
- 18:06you own Joey Gallop and startom, Like you must have to have like the
- 18:08top ten that the average you know, fantasy players to offset Joey Gallop to
- 18:14even be like average. Like there's there's some some math out there penalty wise
- 18:18that says these guys are just undraftable. Yeah, I absolutely agree that it's
- 18:23gonna be tough. So okay, yeah, that should wrap us up for
- 18:27news previews, and I think we're just gonna jump right into the cards section
- 18:33now and we're gonna it's been a couple of weeks since we've had a full
- 18:37card section on cards and categories, but this week definitely warranted it as we
- 18:41have the release of twenty twenty three Top Stadium Club coming out on January twenty
- 18:48fourth, and that will be released in hobby boxes half hobby boxes. They're
- 18:55like, what's the exact term, I forget hobby compacts. Hobby compacts,
- 19:00so we were looking at the stats on them. Essentially you get about half
- 19:04of what's in your normal hobby box, so it's about half the price,
- 19:08and then you actually do have retail here I'm like Bowman's Best. I looked
- 19:12it up. You have got retail blasters for a stadium club, And I
- 19:17think that's where most people have interacted with Stadium Club in the past, that
- 19:22it has been a pretty traditional, big retail product when it debuted back in
- 19:26the early nineties. I think ninety one was the first year, if I'm
- 19:30remembering off the top of my head, just because I'm a big Stadium Club
- 19:34fan. As we've talked about around here, the Stadium Club is known for
- 19:40its photography, especially that you've got just interesting in different photos from when you
- 19:45know you're looking at your flagship product. Usually it has a pretty standard pose
- 19:51in terms of either you know, a batter in the batter's box or a
- 19:56pitcher pitching. That a pretty good shot to be able to see the player
- 20:00in a normal baseball action with their face. Stadium Club mixes it up.
- 20:04You've got off field photos, you've got random photo shoots, you've got celebrations,
- 20:10you've got momentous like parts of players' games, and so it really mixes
- 20:18it up in terms of adding an artistic photograph like just to any sort of
- 20:25collection. So I think Stadium Club has been known as that since I don't
- 20:32I mean, even looking back on maybe like the ninety one set, it
- 20:33wasn't quite as much known that way. But you even think about like the
- 20:38Griffy from the ninety one Stadium Club set, it's a picture of him with
- 20:42a backwards hat on. So they were really even trying to I mean,
- 20:48that was pushing the envelope back in nineteen ninety one, you know. So
- 20:52in going into ninety two, ninety three, ninety four, when I think
- 20:56Stadium Club really started hitting its stride, you started seeing different types of typography
- 21:03too, Like I really think about the ninety four Stadium Club in terms of
- 21:07like it even shortened it to TSC on the front of the cards when it
- 21:11started listing the name of the brand, and you think about like the blocky
- 21:18type face letters on nineteen ninety four. So for the twenty twenty three set,
- 21:23I don't think you're getting quite as far off the reservation with kind of
- 21:26their design. It's been a pretty standard design the past couple of years in
- 21:30terms of you know, having a full photo and then a kind of I
- 21:37don't even know how to exactly describe it. I would it's like a modern
- 21:41sports feel like a you think about like the sports bugs they put on NFL
- 21:45Fox games, like at the bottom, and how they're changing it every year.
- 21:48That's the way I feel like stadium Clubs kind of name patterns on the
- 21:52front of the cards have been going, is that they're got this modern,
- 21:56sleek, just sports feel to it. So twenty twenty three, Stadium Club
- 22:02is finally coming out. We thought it was dead. I can I'm just
- 22:06very excited, as you can probably tell from all my explanations going off on
- 22:10these tangents and different paths about Stadium Club that I've opened up for our discussion
- 22:15here brew, But what excites you the most about Stadium Club going into twenty
- 22:19twenty three here? Yeah, I think what I mean, besides the fact
- 22:23that the Stadium Club's here, we didn't think Stadium Club wouldn't make it potentially,
- 22:29I said this year was probably last year, So you know, I
- 22:33think that that's that's the big, you know, piece for me. I
- 22:37really just love that the products love the design this year. I'm looking I'm
- 22:41trying to look up some of the old designs because the twenty three design reminds
- 22:47me of a design design from a few years back, maybe like ten years
- 22:51back that it looks oddly oddly familiar, that they didn't break the mold that
- 22:56much, but the photography does it all. This is one of those ones
- 23:02where like if you're ripping this set for nothing else but just for the beauty
- 23:08of the cards, the even if it's not the collectibility the Stadium Club,
- 23:14you know, values tend to be like all over the place with Stadium Club,
- 23:18Like it could just be a matter that photo like one Soda the Sodo
- 23:22Shuffle card from Stadium Club Chrome from a few years ago, Like that card
- 23:27blew up at one point, it still has holds a lot of value.
- 23:30There's motani just because of the pictures of these iconic moments things like that that
- 23:36they capture that no other Tops product seems to do is just fantastic. So
- 23:42you definitely have to love that. The other part I love about Stadium Club
- 23:45is it's accessible for the collector. We were talking hobby boxes at one hundred
- 23:52and twenty dollars, hobby compacts at sixty to twenty five bucks per blaster,
- 23:56that is very very accessible. And when you're getting a hobby box, you're
- 24:00getting two autos with that. If you're getting a Compact, Like I think
- 24:03at this point, like I'm looking at the compact is literally just half of
- 24:07a hobby box trying to make it more affordable for the collector, which I
- 24:10thought is brilliant, Like it's brilliant for them to do. It's like half
- 24:14the cards, half the hits, half the price, Like it's great what
- 24:17they're doing there. So I really really like that. It depends on what
- 24:22you're looking for. If you're looking for autos, you have options. If
- 24:26you're looking more for all the parallels, which I know I'm not going to
- 24:32steal your thunder because I know you love the parallels, I'll let you run
- 24:33through that. But if you're looking for the parallels, blasters are the way
- 24:37to go. If you're not looking to try to guess the autos, those
- 24:41those blasters are just chuck full of different parallels and opportunities to get those.
- 24:45So love the set, love the photography, and it's one of those that
- 24:52I always have a handful of cards from the guys that I PC from Stadium
- 24:57Club, the Rookies, things like that, just because the iconic imagery and
- 25:03guys like that, I've always pceed like a Kink gravy Junior or something like
- 25:06that, Like you almost want to have every season of his Stadium Club cards
- 25:11just because of the the uniqueness of the of this release. So love and
- 25:15Stadium Club really looking forward to seeing it this year. I know you and
- 25:21I both talked about our resolutions for the year and not ripping as much.
- 25:26I don't know, does this count as is twenty twenty three Stadium Club in
- 25:32Oh, definitely ninety four. Yeah, I think it's a freebie. It's
- 25:34it's it's kind of like you know when you when you eat a dessert,
- 25:37but then you had a vegetable at dinner, Like it cancels it out right.
- 25:41It's so very excited for Stadium Club this year. Yeah, exactly,
- 25:48And so I know we endorsed this a lot with the holiday set too,
- 25:52But this is a great set for if you're just starting in on cards and
- 25:56want to start on cards. Stadium Club. Those retail blasters are affordable and
- 26:03they're going to be fun. I guarantee that even if you don't maybe hit
- 26:07anything too valuable, the cards are going to be beautiful and you're going to
- 26:11really enjoy looking at them as just like a baseball fan overall, because they're
- 26:18always interesting. I've always loved Stadium Club ever since I was a kid,
- 26:22and they're bringing back a lot of the same inserts. So you've got a
- 26:25lot of your classic inserts here from Beam Team, which is a pretty tough
- 26:30poll this year. Usually these have been a little easier to pull. But
- 26:34it's maybe like the classic Stadium Club parallel. Honestly, it's more classic from
- 26:41a basketball perspective because some of the Beam Team Jordan's back in the nineties are
- 26:45really really slick cards and go for a lot of money. But you got
- 26:49Beam Team back, and it's a tough pole. Like I said, one
- 26:52in every two hundred and fifty seven hobby packs. So if you hit one
- 26:56of these Beam Team inserts in anything that you're ripping, it's a nice card
- 27:00and gonna be worth a decent penny, even in the based form. But
- 27:06you've also got Chrome back, so which is a little bit sad because that
- 27:10they did cancel Stadium Club Chrome, which was my favorite. It was a
- 27:14separate Stadium Club set. But they've had these Chrome inserts for I would say
- 27:21since the late nineties is really when they started, probably like ninety nine two
- 27:23thousand, and they've also caused confusion over the years because you don't some people
- 27:30don't know whether it's like the insert chrome parallel from regular Stadium Club or if
- 27:36it's Stadium Club chrome the base, but they use different photos they have over
- 27:41the past couple years when TOPS has had that, So there's only ninety cards
- 27:45in the chrome checklist of you know, you're looking at pretty much the stars
- 27:48and rookies there that they wanted to make chrome parallels of. And those chrome
- 27:55parallels even have parallels, So it's parallels on parallels that you've got your regular
- 28:00chrome parallel, your refractor parallel, your orange refractor parallel, your purple refractor,
- 28:06your pearl white refractor, your gold minted refractor, which again are rare.
- 28:11They used to be a lot more common and in the retail boxes,
- 28:14but that's one in every two hundred and fifty seven hobby packs now and then
- 28:18ultimately superfractor chrome. So one thing that stands out to me on these chromes
- 28:23is compared to the regular parallels you're getting with the set the parallels, I
- 28:29will admit this is maybe like my one thing I don't like about modern Stadium
- 28:33Club is that the parallels are lazy, that all they're doing is changing the
- 28:37color of the foil on the card. So traditionally, when you have like
- 28:42a flagship card, the actual like border or the background or even on these
- 28:47chrome ones, the background is tinted the color that I just listed off.
- 28:51But on the base card parallels Stadium Club, they're just swapping out the little
- 28:57chrome or like the foil on the log in the foil on the name.
- 29:00So here's the parallels that you've got of those base cards, and every card
- 29:06in the base three hundred card set I believe right, three card set,
- 29:11three hundred card set, so every one of those cards has one of these
- 29:15parallel one of these parallels for it. So red foil, black foil,
- 29:21black and white, Sepia members only, which will have like a different members
- 29:26only stamp. That's been that goes all the way back to the beginning of
- 29:30Stadium Club Photographers proof, which is another again another just different stamping on it.
- 29:37Orange foil to one ninety nine, Purple foil of seventy five, which
- 29:41is hobby Compact exclusive, So if you're chasing purple foils, they're going to
- 29:45want only want those hobby Compact boxes. Blue foil of fifty, rainbow foil
- 29:51board. So I will say that this is where you're starting to get a
- 29:53little bit of variation because the rainbow foil board will actually be printed on like
- 29:59a more a refractory card stock, and it's a lot like the rainbow foil
- 30:04you'll see in the traditional flagship. You've also got first a issue which is
- 30:10only ten copies again, another stamp that goes on there, and then finally
- 30:14your gold rainbow foil one of one. So just a more limited refractor and
- 30:21parallel set here just because you've got less variation in terms of like those foils.
- 30:26And I think they're really already leaning on people wanting the base card,
- 30:30wanting that beautiful photograph, so they cut back the parallels here a little bit.
- 30:34Yeah, I will say that the one downfall with the parrels is a
- 30:38look this year, I think that we have to know that the print run
- 30:41is going to be ridiculous. Yeah, when you're looking at in a hobby
- 30:45box, you're expected to get one chrome card in the entire hobby box.
- 30:52That that's rough, that's crazy. So it's you don't realize how rare some
- 30:57of these cards are going to be. So you're looking out there you're getting
- 31:00a unnumbered chrome card and it costs you one hundred and twenty bucks to get
- 31:07it. Now, Yeah, I get that's not really how the math works,
- 31:11but like that is what you used to feel like you get like four
- 31:15or five of those in a box of cards something like that. So I
- 31:18think that the print run is very high this time around with with Stadium Club,
- 31:25and so it's not necessarily going to hold a ton of value. But
- 31:29again, it's a lower priced product, which you know, it's meant to
- 31:30be the entry level product, and so many collectors do love it that it
- 31:34does generally sell well, holds value relatively well too, because people love to
- 31:41put these sets together. So I think that that is exciting. I am
- 31:45curious, though, your thoughts on the auto checklist of Stadium Club. I
- 31:51know premium auto checklist is always Stadium Club's calling card, right, what are
- 31:56your thoughts? Yeah, for people that don't know he is being sarcastic there,
- 32:01because very very Yeah. The And what's kind of crazy though is Stadium
- 32:07Club it is maybe like the most hot and cold auto checklist that you know,
- 32:14you're getting the best hall of famers and rookies in this set. You
- 32:17know, you got Derek Jeter at Lee's Frank Thomas showhy signs, so you've
- 32:24got like the tippy top signing, and then you've also got Quada dudes who
- 32:30like are barely staying on rosters in the checklist. So it's a very That's
- 32:36what I think. What makes it a very interesting price point too, is
- 32:38that I think it would be more expensive if it wasn't for this checklist of
- 32:44autos being all over the place, Because if you think that you're going to
- 32:47go in trying to pull Frank Thomas, you might end up getting a Ford
- 32:52Proctor, who actually I don't even know who that is, Like I am
- 32:55looking at the I guess I shouldn't disparage four Proctor like that, but he's
- 33:00next to Frank Thomas on the checklist. I've never heard of Ford Proctor,
- 33:05So it's it is quite the gamble from that perspective. But like we keep
- 33:10kind of reiterating here, the price point is so low that you're paying for
- 33:15the enjoyment of the rip here. So I don't think people are chasing these
- 33:21autos as much as you know, you're trying to in some of the higher
- 33:24end products that we've talked about where you're really chasing those hits the Sodium Club.
- 33:30I think this is also why the foil parallels are kind of like as
- 33:34disappointing as they are, is because they know people aren't trying to chase hits
- 33:38in this product as much as they're trying to just enjoy ripping cards. It's
- 33:43very much like a it's a lot like Collector's Choice from Upper Deck back in
- 33:46the day, where I mean it is like a collector's product and something that
- 33:52you're opening for the enjoyment of baseball cards. Yeah. Absolutely, I have
- 33:57to ask you are you going to rip and if you had your choice,
- 34:00if you can just pick between your hobby box, your your hobby compacts you
- 34:05or your retail blasters, what are you doing? What do you what are
- 34:07you doing with your rips for Stadium Club. I personally, I think I'm
- 34:13staying away from hobby compact is. I won't be opening those because I would
- 34:17need the rather open the hobby box and get like the full experience and the
- 34:22jumbo box stoppers are always fun, like, especially if you get one of
- 34:27your PC personal collection guys, that it's always going to look great like I'm
- 34:31looking right now at a jumbo boxtopper from last year of Ozzie Smith doing his
- 34:37patented flip and so the jumbo box stoppers are really fun and getting that extra
- 34:44autos really good too. But this is actually one product where I will rip
- 34:50some retail just because I really like Stadium Club cards, so I will keep
- 34:55them. And the odds here, especially on hitting some of the those parallels
- 35:00as you alluded to, is not bad for retails. So yeah, I
- 35:05think I'm gonna do a little bit of the hobby box and a little bit
- 35:07of the retail blasters, but staying away from the hobby half boxes or whatever.
- 35:15What about you brew? Yeah, I mean, I this is gonna
- 35:17be a cop out answer, but I'm like, whatever I get my hands
- 35:20on first is probably gonna be the the clear answer here because the Stadium Club
- 35:25does tend to sell pretty well at the beginning, and I don't know what
- 35:30you just feels like the distribution channels for tops and fanatics the over the last
- 35:35year or so have become a little inconsistent. You know, release days not
- 35:38even until tomorrow night. You can always find cards on eBay from Stadium Club
- 35:43and at the same time you go your hoty local hobby shopp you might not
- 35:45find anything like. It just feels very inconsistent. So I think if I
- 35:51find a Stadium Club, I'm gonna buy it, regardless of what format it's
- 35:54in, give it a shot if it goes well, and go do the
- 35:58same thing again and just enjoy the rip on State Club. This is one
- 36:04to save for sure. Yeah. Absolutely, And then I also kind of
- 36:07wanted to highlight a couple of other insert sets just because compared to other sets
- 36:14we've talked about, the inserts on Stadium Club I really enjoy too and have
- 36:19that classic twist as we talked about with being team. But they're also bringing
- 36:22back Stadium Club in three D SC and three D inserts, which are only
- 36:27one hundred copies each. But they are very throwback nineties kind of instavision cards
- 36:35where you can look at them and like, I'm not even exactly sure how
- 36:39to describe them, but once like you see one, any nineties person would
- 36:45immediately know what I'm talking about in terms of the little like instavision causing like
- 36:52the movement of the player and showing like a highlight. And so I have
- 36:58one from when they had these inserts in the late nineties of a rod is
- 37:01the one that I remember, and it's gonna be cool to find some of
- 37:07these. They're very very short printed, so they're one in every twenty one
- 37:09hundred hobby packs, which is crazy list of ten and one hundred copies each.
- 37:15Like I said, so it's only the biggest stars. I think these
- 37:19are going to be hot commodities. Yeah, I think so. I think
- 37:22to your point, it harkens back to like that late nineties. I think
- 37:23I had like a Mark McGuire, like during his ninety eight season type thing
- 37:29where you can kind of watch the highlight if you may, as you kind
- 37:31of rotate the car, and so I think that these will like harken back
- 37:36to those collectors of the late nineties, which was like those were fun cards,
- 37:39like those are things you were after, and now at the fact that
- 37:43they are hard to find and a largely printed product like the dollars are going
- 37:49to be very shocking on these. I don't think people realize that you're gonna
- 37:52you know, there's probably be something that sell low. So it was like,
- 37:53what's this. This is nothing exciting because it makes rise of the nineteen
- 37:58eighties cards. But then I think that there's gonna be a very very strong
- 38:01Fletcher's market for the the I'm gonna call it the Instavision cards. Uh sc
- 38:07and three D Instavision division. I feel like it was the nineties. The
- 38:13nineties version was called Instavision. I thought so, and maybe instavision is too.
- 38:20Let me look that up. Maybe you are correct, they said,
- 38:29yep, that's why. Yeah, it's got it's just a nineties version.
- 38:31So I will not sleep tonight until I find out what it was that I
- 38:37was actually called back. I think it still was called sc and three D,
- 38:44but inst divisions going around for a long time too. Yeah. And
- 38:46then the other one I wanted to highlight instant I mean, Instavision is a
- 38:51cool one where but it's I think the other insert to highlight here is Triumphants,
- 38:55which I was a dummy. I didn't really realize this until last year,
- 39:00that the Triumvirance set is like sets of three and you can put them
- 39:06together as puzzle pieces. Did you know this or am I? Oh?
- 39:08I know it's okay, so I'm breaking the news to you too. So
- 39:12each of them, it's a thirty card set, and each of the thirty
- 39:15cards breaks down into like three littler sets where when you put them all next
- 39:22to each other, they actually like interlock and they fit together, and so
- 39:25they're great when you get like a subset of that, and so you know
- 39:30you've got team ones like you've got an Orioles one with cal Adley Gunner,
- 39:35You've got like a Mariner's one with each Row Griffy Julio. But then a
- 39:39really cool one this year is like I said, usually traditionally these are teams
- 39:44where they have like three teammates, but they have a cool one this year
- 39:47of Jackie, Willie Mays and Hank Aaron is one of the Triumvirate sets.
- 39:52So I think these are another kind of fun one to put together if you
- 39:58have a team that you're chasing here and I enjoyed putting together the Triumphants red
- 40:04parallel set of the Cardinals last year, so it's it's a fun one to
- 40:07chase and looks great when you display them all together. And yeah, hopefully
- 40:13if you didn't know, now you know that Triumphants it works all together and
- 40:16so you'll see them. They're like die cut cards that when you pull one,
- 40:22you always are like, man, what is the shape? But once
- 40:24you put all three together. It makes a lot more sense. Yeah,
- 40:29I leorthily knew every day, right, So now I'm gonna be searching the
- 40:32internet now trying to find these pictures of these of these cards. Yeah,
- 40:38and so, like I said, we're recording here on the twenty third statement
- 40:44Club drops tomorrow should be on tops dot com and retail locations hobby locations that
- 40:50you're looking for. And it also puts the capstone on twenty twenty three releases.
- 40:55I think that I was looking at the release list unless they've got something
- 41:00else in the hopper at Tops that they haven't told us about the way that
- 41:04they revived Stadium Club and a couple of other anniversaries coming like two years.
- 41:08Yeah, exactly that. Yeah, maybe Stadium Club Chrome is coming like yeah,
- 41:14Holidays twenty twenty four. But this should put be the last twenty twenty
- 41:19three series that is coming out, as they are going to crank every printing
- 41:24machine that they have up to one thousand for twenty twenty four Series one coming
- 41:31out here in just three short weeks, so it's coming around the corner really
- 41:36fast. Get wait, I know it's going to be a great blast.
- 41:40So brew anything on Stadium Club that we might have skipped over that you wanted
- 41:45to go through. I think we think we hit it, did a good
- 41:50job, best lucked everybody ripping it out there, hopefully find some cool cards.
- 41:53And I'm looking forward to just sneaking through and finding what's the what's the
- 41:58unique things they went after after this year. I know last year I really
- 42:00loved the Dyersville, the Field of Dreams cards they had in there, with
- 42:06like the White Sox walking through the basic corn. So I think there's fun.
- 42:09What I'm just looking forward to finding like what little intricacies do they sneak
- 42:14in this year that nobody knows about until it comes out? Yeah, exactly.
- 42:20And if you hit any cool cards while you're ripping some stadium club,
- 42:22you can hit us up on Twitter at Cards Categories or email the pot at
- 42:28cards Categories at gmail dot com. And yeah, We're going to take a
- 42:31short break and be back with Matt Trussel from Rasball to preview the NL West.
- 42:37Stick around, Hello, and welcome back from the break everybody. We
- 43:00are joined for the NL West preview here by our editor and the organizer of
- 43:07the RCL. Good old Matt Trussell. How you doing, Matt, pretty
- 43:10good. How are you. We're doing great. We are de thawing here
- 43:15in the Midwest, so it's been slushy. But how are things going up
- 43:20for you in the upper Northeast. Yep, Sam, Here in Maine,
- 43:23we had actually I got home from work today and all of the snow on
- 43:27my roof had fallen and blocked my door. So that was fun. Here.
- 43:34That's fantastic. And like I said, we're going to preview the NL
- 43:37West, even though you're on the opposite side of the country. We figured
- 43:40that this would be a good spot to bring you in and let you get
- 43:45in any Dodgers cracks that you want. And I'm sure we've all got plenty
- 43:49of Rockies jokes loaded and ready to shoot out the cannon here, so we,
- 43:53I think, are just going to dive right into it. So if
- 43:57you are familiar with the format from the past Cup weeks, what we've been
- 44:00doing is going through the fantasy prospects of every team in a given division.
- 44:06Like I said, today, we're going to do NL West, So we're
- 44:09going to go through each team alphabetically and pick one by one cell from a
- 44:15fantasy perspective of you know, it can be either we don't like the ADP,
- 44:20we don't like their skills, whatever we kind of think about these players.
- 44:23So we're going to start off the top with the NL winners from last
- 44:29year, the Pennant winners and wildcard team. I almost sad NL West winners,
- 44:32but they took home the wild card. That is the Arizona Diamondbacks.
- 44:37Snakes alive. They are looking like a much better spot for fantasy prospects this
- 44:43year. I think when last year, you know, everybody gave them a
- 44:45punching chance maybe at that wild card, but they should be one of the
- 44:50heavy favorites for another playoff spot in the NL. So we've got lots of
- 44:54great players that have come up in Arizona. Matt, who are you going
- 44:59to pick for your buy and sell from the Diamondbacks? Yeah? Such a
- 45:04fun team too. I like, I love watching the Diamondbacks fun offense.
- 45:07But I'm actually gonna switch it up and go with a pitcher for the buy
- 45:10and go with Brandon. Brandon fat sitting at He's his NFBC ADP was two
- 45:19eleven when I checked checked earlier as a nice one of those like he feels
- 45:24like he's in that range of pitchers that you just kind of shotgun approach and
- 45:28take a take a lot of shots on and hope one of them hits.
- 45:30And he's got that. You know, the highly regarded prospect that when he
- 45:35came up last year was not good. Uh, I know, I streamed
- 45:39him a few times and to our cls and it was pretty brutal. But
- 45:44then when he when they got to the playoffs, he really picked it up
- 45:46and really looked good. And he seems like that type that you know,
- 45:50struggles in his debut but then that next season really can put it together and
- 45:54could be a nice hit late. Yeah, I think that's a great pick.
- 45:59He is one of my considerations for a buy. Didn't quite make the
- 46:02cut, but I think similar to you, I had him pop up a
- 46:07lot in the waiver wire analysis that I was doing last year after he was
- 46:09a hot commodity during drafts last year burned a bunch of people ended up on
- 46:15all sorts of free agency waiver wiver waiver wires for fantasy, And yeah,
- 46:21I think he's a great pick here. So who you're gonna go with for
- 46:23your cell in Arizona? My cell is going to be Gabrielle Moreno. Yeah,
- 46:30it's just the super boring catcher and he's he's at one forty six.
- 46:36He was above a lot of catchers who I would rather have, and your
- 46:40lot, your other your last guest, Adam was kind of touched on this
- 46:44with Sean Murphy. It's like, it's catcher you can you can for sure
- 46:47wait on and I'm not. I'm definitely not reaching early for Gabrielle Moreno.
- 46:52Okay, I think gabriel or Moreno had just like a crazy playoffs last year,
- 46:57which I feel like it's like going that's a degree as well, but
- 47:00like such a terrible regular season. I don't think it's balanced out. The
- 47:05Moreno seemed to con his own during the playoffs, which I think is actually
- 47:09driving a degree of that that draft adp at this point, because like it
- 47:15showed you like that, I can dream on him potential, even though that's
- 47:19not the ceiling that he could deliver. So I'm right there with you.
- 47:22Moreno. He's interesting, but right that cluster of all kinds of other really
- 47:27interesting catchers, he might be too high within that that group. Well,
- 47:32agree I might. I think I'm just gonna jump the gun here because he
- 47:36was by bye. I love Gabrielle personally, Yeah, so I think he's
- 47:42so he's currently the eleventh catcher girl going off the board. But I think
- 47:45what I like about him, along with like Bo Naylor, is these guys
- 47:51are offensive first catchers that are so young that it's going to take them,
- 47:57I think a little bit to find their footing. And in his first year,
- 48:00I think Gabriel Reno did a great job of finding his footing. You
- 48:02know, on the year, he put in a solid, you know,
- 48:07two eighty ish average, and I think what especially came with that was he
- 48:12hit three thirteen in the second half as he settled in. You have to
- 48:15remember he was traded over from Toronto, didn't come up with this Arizona system.
- 48:19So I'm sure he's still learning a lot of these pitchers and learning how
- 48:22to game call and just learning the system that if there's anybody outside the top
- 48:29ten catchers that I can see kind of making that big jump up to being
- 48:32like a top six catcher maybe, And I mean I think it's Gabriel Moreno
- 48:38that, like, I almost like him as much as Janiar Diez. Like
- 48:43Diez has more power, but Moreno brings a really great average in his bat
- 48:47that I think you can almost pencilhim in for two eighty. He came up
- 48:52with a great bat. He's always hit everywhere he's gone. He's young.
- 48:57I just really like what I've seen from Moreno, and he was amazing down
- 49:00the playoff stretch too, So it's more of like I've seen a lot with
- 49:05like my eyes on him, and I think that he can just grow more
- 49:08and more into that role in Arizona. It's fair on the batting average.
- 49:13I think that's a that's a good call. I think I'm just I'm gonna
- 49:16be the twelfth person to take a catcher and I don't feel like Moreno's gonna
- 49:20fall to me. So yeah, I think that I'm gonna be like the
- 49:22thirteenth or fourteen Twelfeen League type of thing. Is like look at that point,
- 49:28like once you get to like ten, it's just like, hey,
- 49:30pick a litter. There's like another ten guys. I'm like, well,
- 49:32sure if that's what I'm stuck with. Yeah, exactly like Jonaheim, whoever,
- 49:37maybe Garber, I'll take whoever. And the thing with Moreno, I
- 49:44see like he reminds me a little. And this is my homewerness of yachting
- 49:47air Molina from a coming up defensive catcher. First, you know, had
- 49:52his kind of moments with the bat, but then it's like, it's going
- 49:55to take him, you know, three, four or five years to really
- 50:00start to become that hitter that you hoped he was. Like, I think
- 50:02Burreto's more advanced than that. Let me let me own that to start with.
- 50:06But I my worry with him is that it's gonna take him a few
- 50:09years still before he really unleashes that full potential. I think he has a
- 50:15higher ceiling than some of those other guys, but I just don't. I
- 50:17don't know if it's gonna happen in twenty four. So glad to see first
- 50:21team. We're already disagreeing, and that's what makes a good content. Yeah,
- 50:23exactly right. Right then, so do you want me to give my
- 50:28cell or what do you think prove? Okay, go for it, go
- 50:30for your sell. Let's let's see if we can double up on this one
- 50:34as well. Because to me, there's an easy cell on the Arizona Diamondbacks.
- 50:37But that's just because I always sell the same guy. Okay, let's
- 50:39see if I can hit it. My cell is Meryl Kelly, and it's
- 50:43mostly it's like a it's a where he's going and then draft that. And
- 50:47I think maybe it's a little bit of just my draft strategy too that we've
- 50:51discussed over the past few weeks. I'm usually in the second, third,
- 50:54fourth round trying to pop a pretty good starter just so that I can get
- 51:00pretty solid work, you know. Obviously, like Garrett Cole's like the best
- 51:04person that you can get in that group, I think, But man,
- 51:07I would love taking Burns, Wheeler, Gossman. Luis Castillo is not as
- 51:12much, but you know, George Kirby. There's lots of good anchors for
- 51:16pitching staffs up there. And so when you're coming back around to Meryl Kelly,
- 51:21the where he's going in the draft, it's a little rich for me.
- 51:23He's going around pick one point fifty right now in ADP. But in
- 51:29that area, it's just there's better upside to be found between like Chris Saale,
- 51:35Michael King. You know, these guys that have a higher strikeout rate
- 51:38but might have warts in terms of being young or not totally proving it,
- 51:45or maybe having a little bit of an injury history. I would rather try
- 51:49to chase a little bit of that upside than falling back into Meryl Kelly.
- 51:52I mean, if there's a situation where I somehow got backed into Bobby Miller's
- 51:59My First Picture or something, then I might be coming around to Meryl Kelly.
- 52:01But when you're taking Meryl Kelly, I think at one point fifty,
- 52:07who should be a steady like mid to upper threes. Ear Ray, Well,
- 52:12he did outperform his fifth and X fIF last year. You know,
- 52:15he does have a good defense behind him, but it's you know, a
- 52:19kind of boring profile in terms of eight nine, K nine, and you
- 52:24know I'm looking for something with a little more upside at that point in the
- 52:28draft. Well, we were not doubling up. I will tell you that.
- 52:32Okay, I don't disagree with with Kelly. The thing I worry about
- 52:37with Kelly is he kind of showed a strike out upside last year. Upside,
- 52:40he showed strikeouts last year which he really hadn't in the past, and
- 52:45that would be a concern I have with him. But no, I'm going
- 52:49I'm going deeper in both of view of like five rounds deeper in the draft
- 52:52on both my buy and so so, starting with my buy I am buying
- 52:59Tommy Fam. Tommy Fam down at you know, pick at three seventy or
- 53:04something like that, So free, I think is by definition at that point
- 53:07in time. I know he's gonna be thirty six opening day, but he
- 53:13did just go off a season where he went sixteen homers, twenty two steals,
- 53:17and with the fifty games with Arizona, he was trending towards like one
- 53:22hundred and seventy runs plus RBI combined, so like a very very reasonable,
- 53:28like eighty eighty eighty eighty five, eighty five type pace with that, and
- 53:31he's seventy eight outfielder off the board like he is way late. But for
- 53:37a guy that can give you a little combination of everything, I love what
- 53:42he can do. He can deliver the value of the guys who went one
- 53:44hundred picks earlier. So if you're looking to like make a decision of like,
- 53:47oh what do I do with in my outfield, you can just wait
- 53:51and grab Tommy Fam. It's kind of the old guys like Justin Turner's and
- 53:54stuff like that, where he's like, eh, he's over the over the
- 53:58hill. So because of that him, I love him. He seems like
- 54:01he's kind of gotten a new life there in Arizona, So I think there's
- 54:04gonna be a lot to capitalize on there. He's gonna be by a dollar
- 54:07guy in options all all preseason for sure. Yeah, and he's actually he's
- 54:14a free agent right now. So oh sorry, but I think everything I'm
- 54:17putting, I'm putting him on the dive of the Backs just because that's where
- 54:22from an NFBC perspective. Sorry, you are right, he is still like
- 54:25he's listed in the data as an Arizona player. But I think this is
- 54:30a great point to like talk about him, because I think he's everything you
- 54:35said is is spot on. So even like, honestly it doesn't matter where
- 54:40he signs, I think that he's got the talent to be able to have
- 54:44that shine through. And when you're looking late for some power speed combo,
- 54:50I don't think you can go wrong with Tommy Fan. He just just become
- 54:52pretty consistent over the past couple of years in terms of what he could bring
- 54:55you. So I love the pick. Well, so now I got to
- 55:00look up my next guy to make sure he's actually on the Diamondbacks. But
- 55:06I'm I'm pretty confident in this one that uh Swarez is on the Diamondbacks and
- 55:13is my cell just for no other reason that that guy is a walking disaster
- 55:16for a fantasy team. I know he's going off the board, is like
- 55:21your back end corner infielder type guy, but I don't care. The only
- 55:28thing he wasn't like the top five leader boards last year was he was number
- 55:31two at strikeouts, behind Kyle Schwarber. And Kyle Schwarber is the only one
- 55:37that could make that happen, to make that work, and we're we're talking
- 55:40about a guy that still was like low twenties home homewer power. So yeah,
- 55:45you know, Arizona maybe doos that a little bit, but like,
- 55:49man, he just torpedoes the rest of your team. And I'm still surprised
- 55:52people aren't even drafting or considering him, even deep leagues. It feels like
- 55:57the type of guy that you should just stay away from h to every degree.
- 56:00So yeah, I'm going deeper in the draft, deep enough to even
- 56:02pick guys that are not on the Diamondbacks at this point, but but yeah,
- 56:08you need those far as was the guy I am definitely avoiding on the
- 56:13Diamondbacks. Yeah, I think he was probably my second choice for a cell
- 56:17and I think, yeah, everything that you mentioned is a reason. And
- 56:22Arizona is a terrible place to hit, so like that's tough as well as
- 56:27like remember when it wasn't. Yeah, so it's so funny. It's like
- 56:31it's like the right field line is so interesting now that's not it. Yeah,
- 56:36Yeah, that human door really changed everything. It's like that one I've
- 56:37got to always think about and we brought it up because Groove brought it up
- 56:42for me like last month. That Kansas City is technically a hitter spark now
- 56:45too, I've always got to like mentally reconfigure that. Yeah, that one's
- 56:51confused not for home runs, which is the weird thing. Everything else is
- 56:54the hitter parts just depressed his home runs. But it's yeah, I'm still
- 56:58surprised by that one really does enjoy it. So yeah, Well, if
- 57:02we want to talk haters parks, we're going to the ultimate one next in
- 57:06Coors Field with the Colorado Rockies. That honestly, that's maybe all it's good
- 57:10for that is fantasy and DFS picks, because the Rockies are going to be
- 57:17contending with the White Sox and the A's for worst record in the league.
- 57:22I think they're pretty pretty awful teams. So let's see what sorts of glimmers
- 57:28of hope we might be able to find for some buys and any cells that
- 57:31we've got, so trust I'll pass it over to you for your buy and
- 57:35sell. Yeah. I feel like we're gonna probably agree on this one because
- 57:38there's only one glimmer of hope in Colorado and that's Nolan Jones. Give me
- 57:45all the shares please, I'm going to be I'm going to be very over
- 57:49exposed to Nolan Jones this year. Just all those all those tools in that
- 57:53park is his gold. His ADP is fifty three, and I'm I'm definitely
- 58:00looking for him and I might be the guy that jumps the gun on him
- 58:06in like the third round, but fourth roundill be good. Yeah. I
- 58:09actually I had Nolan Jones is my second second by I started to write him
- 58:14up found another guy, but I know who's going to steal him, so
- 58:17I'll let him go first when we get there. But I do agree with
- 58:22Nola Jones. Every time I look at him, I just want to say,
- 58:23like, nah, he's not that good, Like it's not ADPs too
- 58:28high. Every time I look at him and go but really like it doesn't
- 58:31it doesn't feel like he should be do we do is? But there's like
- 58:34not a lingering side behind it says maybe hold up, you know, hold
- 58:37up the high train here. So I like that. I like that call.
- 58:42Man, I'm going to be wrong on him, and hopefully I'm not.
- 58:45Yeah, I mean it's and the steels are huge. Like if it
- 58:47wasn't for the steels, I think I could get behind him being a possible
- 58:52sell. But you always forget about them. He just doesn't fit like your
- 58:54mental image of what he looks like as a player. Yeah, all right,
- 59:00what about yourself? Everybody else unless I'm unless I'm, like you said,
- 59:10making a DFS line up for ANITA streamer in an RCL league for for
- 59:15a day, I struggled looking through to find even another player I'd be comfortable
- 59:22rostering. I guess till bar I'm not. He's the next highest and no
- 59:29thanks. Yeah, So I think I think it's interesting because I'm going to
- 59:32jump on the train here, which my cell was every single picture strong things
- 59:40I was going to say down to dang it. So I guess with with
- 59:45that, do you want to hitch your bye here because I think I know
- 59:49where you're going, because I don't think it's Nolan Jones, but I think
- 59:52I know who it is. Uh well, I mean I'll add a little
- 59:57bit to the cell train here that I also had no one just because honestly,
- 1:00:01they've only got five players going into the top three hundred, which is
- 1:00:05absurd for the Colorado Rockies. You would think that every single one of their
- 1:00:08starting bats would be owned, but that's how poor they are. And Charlie
- 1:00:15Blackman like at this point, like I thought black One was out of the
- 1:00:19league like five years ago. Yeah, somebody's still roaming the outfields in Colorado
- 1:00:23for some reason. Yeah, And so my buys are one is home streams.
- 1:00:30So like this was a big part of my way for wire column last
- 1:00:34year is there's lots of weeks where it lines up with the Rockies have a
- 1:00:38full state of home games. And so if you do have a weekly league,
- 1:00:42dipping down into the pool for like a Jacob Stallings maybe as your second
- 1:00:46catcher isn't a bad call because you're just gonna get coors Field volume. And
- 1:00:52this year, honestly, it's even gonna be harder because I was looking at
- 1:00:55the Rockies schedule this morning, and it doesn't it's not quite as clean where
- 1:01:00it used to be. Like week on a Monday, leave on a Sunday.
- 1:01:06It's a lot of split weeks. So that makes the Rockies even more
- 1:01:08worthless than they traditionally have been. But yeah, every every picture, I
- 1:01:14don't even think in an inn only league, I want to be owning any
- 1:01:15pitcher here, and I'm gonna get around to my buy. I don't know
- 1:01:20if you're actually gonna call this broup, but you talked about him a little
- 1:01:22bit ago. It's Charlie Blackman. He's going four hundred and twenty ninth.
- 1:01:28I'm just a spairy guy, So yeah, he is maybe like along with
- 1:01:34Tommy fam and we've talked about Andrew mccutchenon in this fame too, that these
- 1:01:38guys are so old and forgotten. But he's hitting leadoff in Colorado like he's
- 1:01:44he's at least worth owning for the games in coors Field and using him then
- 1:01:50and putting him back on your bench. But you can't beat that for a
- 1:01:53really late, late, late outfield piece that you know, if I can
- 1:01:58play him in Colorado and try to juice something like a two nine what would
- 1:02:02pass out to like a two ninety with eighty runs like fifteen to twenty stone
- 1:02:07bases and you know, sixty rbi. That's usable. So we're talking real
- 1:02:14late stuff. But I love Charlie Blackman. Well, I Despair is the
- 1:02:19guy I should apologize. I'm not going to, but I should, So
- 1:02:24I'm going to give you. I do have a buy here and trust you
- 1:02:30kind of hints that the only other option was is he kill Tovar, and
- 1:02:36Tovar is going with his adp here was he's a twentieth shortstop off off the
- 1:02:43board at this point, shortstop is pretty deep. And the reason that I'm
- 1:02:46slightly interested in Tovar besides whole he actually tipped me off on him a while
- 1:02:52a while back, is he was, if I recall, the youngest hitter,
- 1:02:59yeah, youngest qualified hitter in the major leagues last year, and he
- 1:03:04still delivered some pretty decent numbers. And I think there's more to be had
- 1:03:08there. I think the power was kind of what it is like he's a
- 1:03:12fifteen homer guy, probably not more than that, and that's probably Colorado homer
- 1:03:15guy, not anywhere else. He's probably still like a two fifty hitter.
- 1:03:19He's not crazy. The thing is the guy can run and he doesn't steal
- 1:03:22as many bases last year is every other stop in the minors showed, and
- 1:03:28everybody else in the majors last year was was doing. So that just stood
- 1:03:31out to me as like he probably has thirty or forty steals in them.
- 1:03:35He just was learning the league, he was growing, and being that young
- 1:03:40and actually doing relatively decent to me, shows that there's a decent amount of
- 1:03:45growth. This pick takes a leap of faith to a degree. But you
- 1:03:50know, if you're waiting on a short sup middle infield, you know Tovar,
- 1:03:52guy that could pop thirty or forty steals that late is interesting and you
- 1:03:58know he's got the cores aspect that's always fun to just greem upon. So
- 1:04:03I do. I do think there's probably two hitters worth owning on the Rockies.
- 1:04:08So the pickens were slim, but I do think Tovar is an interesting
- 1:04:11one, even if we are stretching the definition of buy just a little bit.
- 1:04:16No, I agree with that as a as a middle infielder especially,
- 1:04:19I like that, And props to the Rockies too for actually playing him.
- 1:04:24They get it. They get the bad rap of never playing there. They're
- 1:04:27youngsters, but they Yeah, can we read into that, like do they
- 1:04:30not believe it? Like? Why is right? Yeah? If you believe
- 1:04:35that, I'm like Brendan Rodgers, go talk to the guy. You can't.
- 1:04:39You should not be starting more than, like you know, sixty percent
- 1:04:42of the games, and you should start changing positions most of the time.
- 1:04:46Yeah, I mean, you're gonna only get Ezekielle Tovar in love for me.
- 1:04:49I think I've been reading and hearing things about you know, the plate
- 1:04:55skills are awful. I'll fully admit that that he chases everything, he swings
- 1:05:00at everything. But you know where that works Coors Field when you put that
- 1:05:03ball in play. I want to see that ball in play. I want
- 1:05:06to see Tobar swinging and trying to put into gaps. And he's young,
- 1:05:12he's been on the field for his glove a lot, and I think those
- 1:05:15types of guys develop into good hitters eventually in good ballplayers. So yeah,
- 1:05:19I like Tobar is a good pick there. So yeah, we're going to
- 1:05:25move over to Los Angeles, where obviously they're the biggest news of the offseason.
- 1:05:30The Dodgers signing anybody and everybody and until you know the end of time
- 1:05:35when the heat death of the universe captures up to us. All. So,
- 1:05:41the Dodgers have a super team going on. And unlike the Rockies,
- 1:05:45who we just said only have like five players in the top three hundred,
- 1:05:48just about every Dodgers player is drafted fifteen guys in the top three hundred right
- 1:05:55out. Yeah, exactly, So we've got lots of options here. Trust
- 1:05:59who are you going to go with for your buy and sell in Los Angeles?
- 1:06:02Yeah, I'm buying into the hype on cool Whip Actually just put out
- 1:06:10an article to day, so by the time you hear this, it'll be
- 1:06:14a couple of days old. But go find it. If you haven't,
- 1:06:15haven't read it, and if you weren't sold on him, you will be.
- 1:06:19Cool Whip knows this stuff. And he did a really nice comparison of
- 1:06:25the other the other Japanese pictures who have come over, and Yamamoto is by
- 1:06:30far the best of that bunch, and I don't it looks like he's gonna
- 1:06:33be gonna be a lot of fun. No no arguments here. I love
- 1:06:39youngmo I. The only concern I have is is every somebody else gonna love
- 1:06:43him more like it's you know, there's gonna be somebody probably every draft that
- 1:06:46just wants to find him and be able to claim victory that they got him.
- 1:06:50So but there I see it on the upside with them, and I
- 1:06:55am loving him in dynasty type formats. Yeah, right now, he's pick
- 1:07:00fifty nine on an FBC and I'd taken Nolan Jones, Yamamoto four or five
- 1:07:05turn I'd be pretty sweet. Yeah, all of that. If it's available,
- 1:07:11like it's, it's climbing, the cost is climbing. So he's got
- 1:07:14a min pick since the beginning of the year at twenty five, and it
- 1:07:17might go higher and higher as draft season comes along. Because I agree Yambodo
- 1:07:23has electric stuff and he's a great buy there. So who are you going
- 1:07:27to go with for yourself? My cell is Freddy Freeman number nine. At
- 1:07:32the moment he is, I don't know he's I have a really hard time
- 1:07:39getting excited for Freeman, And you know, he's if you want to play
- 1:07:43the ultimate safe first rounder. If that's your style, great, that doesn't
- 1:07:47tend to be my style. When I draft, I tend to chase upside
- 1:07:51as you can probably tell buy my buy so far. And he's thirty four
- 1:07:57years old. He's the oldest player in the first round. The decline's coming,
- 1:08:00and I don't want to be there when it happens, so that'll be
- 1:08:03a pass. Yeah. And so let's say you had like the chance to
- 1:08:09take Freddy Freeman. What guy that's going behind him are you going to take
- 1:08:14instead? Let's see, let's see where where everybody's at. So yeah,
- 1:08:21other guys you got to going, like just behind him would be like Tetis
- 1:08:26Soto, Judge Strider, oh a tattoos all day. If he's there,
- 1:08:30I'd take Tatis. Yeah, one hundred times out of one hundred over Freeman.
- 1:08:34Yeah, I think that's fair. Yeah. Yeah, I personally I
- 1:08:40like Freeman because I like the batting average, I like the combo that you
- 1:08:43can get all five categories. But I mean, I think that's fair.
- 1:08:47I can see the warts on him, and I can see like why you
- 1:08:51might not want to take him where he's going, but it is very tempting
- 1:08:56after what he's been putting up for the past few years. Yep. Yeah,
- 1:09:00I think I think the good point that you made trust was depends in
- 1:09:02your style is how do you like the draft? I yeah, exact you
- 1:09:05in the early rounds like I am buying more and then I'm going crazy with
- 1:09:12my injury risk and all kinds of upside stuff later. If you heard our
- 1:09:15New Year's Resolution podcast, mine was to avoid all the injury guys. I
- 1:09:19think in the first by cell, I picked like three injury guys to buy.
- 1:09:24So you know, we never we never change. But it really comes
- 1:09:28down I think the strategy on how you like to approach things with with Freeman.
- 1:09:33Yeah, and so Bruf, let's go to you for your bysel is
- 1:09:38your because of that is your by newly minted Dodgers picture James Paxton probably here
- 1:09:44well ironically my bible and until James packed in the sign and I did not
- 1:09:50because of the timing, did not think through Paxston, even though Cooley knows
- 1:09:55my deep, deep love for James Paxton. And I think I've owned for
- 1:09:59like ten years straight in every single league and probably will get but no,
- 1:10:03my buye it is really this is a big stretch here, not very talented
- 1:10:09MOOKI bets Muki's number five off the board. On average, there are six
- 1:10:14different guys going number two overall at least since the beginning of the year NFPC
- 1:10:19data, And to me, Muki is the clear number two on the board
- 1:10:27just because he can go across the stat sheet. I know he's not delivering
- 1:10:30the same steals as everybody else, but he is the only guy that you
- 1:10:33can look at and say, he might you know, lap the field in
- 1:10:36runs. He might you know, outpace everybody by twenty thirty runs. And
- 1:10:43that's like you kind of forget about the runs category to a degree, and
- 1:10:47you know you kind of expect everybody to filter out, like he could actually
- 1:10:50push you completely over the top. Well, he hit almost forty home runs
- 1:10:54last year and you know it's hitting three hundred, like yeah, like yeah,
- 1:10:57he's not a Kunia. I get it. But again, I buy
- 1:11:01floor a lot of times early in the draft, so I just think that
- 1:11:04he can really set you apart, you know, big bye here moving from
- 1:11:09number five to number two. Uh in my push, But I'm taking moviie.
- 1:11:14That's set number two off the board all day in the drafts. I
- 1:11:18think that, I mean, I think that's fair. I keep wondering that
- 1:11:21myself myself too, when you see the eligibilities that BOOKI has too that it's
- 1:11:27like, man, let's just you don't get somebody at the top of drafts
- 1:11:30that can play second and outfield, and a lot of leagues go qualify it
- 1:11:34short too, So it's it's a lot to be able to work with and
- 1:11:39be able to go so many different directions with your team. I just want
- 1:11:43to be in the league where he went eighth off the board. But so
- 1:11:46for my cell, I'm going to the pitching staff as well. Tom Tyler
- 1:11:50Glasnow. Tyler Glasnow is the tenth starting pitcher off the board. He has
- 1:11:57the most immaculate skill set. I love everything out of Tyler Glassnow except for
- 1:12:01the fact that he never can make a start. So Tyler glass Now,
- 1:12:05I think I went back and looked. He's been the Majors for eight years,
- 1:12:10and I want to read off to you the number of starts he's had
- 1:12:12every year. And yes, I know twenty twenty is in there, but
- 1:12:15you won't be able to pick it out. Four starts, thirteen starts,
- 1:12:17eleven, twelve, eleven, fourteen, two, and then twenty one.
- 1:12:23The guy's only made more than fourteen starts once his entire career. That's like
- 1:12:28a third of a season. And that's your that's middle of the fourth round.
- 1:12:32Is your your number one starting pitcher. I mean, I'm not hitching
- 1:12:36my wagons to that, even if he the skills he has and playing on
- 1:12:41the Dodgers like that, ADP is just just rising. I'm steering very clear
- 1:12:46of glass now, just because the hell skills, love him, love the
- 1:12:49environment, love what he's doing there. But come on, it's just I'm
- 1:12:54not touching it. Yeah, I think that's fair. It is a good
- 1:12:59part for you that Tyler Glasnaw is like the one guy you won't touch.
- 1:13:02But I get it, like it's it's a lot. He's have to be
- 1:13:04a certain degree of injury risk, like a guy in Price. He's going
- 1:13:10in like the third round, you know, Yeah, that's I think.
- 1:13:14What What's what scares me is like I'm putting all my eggs in the basket
- 1:13:17for my ace. I'm gonna take the ace and I'm gonna wait for a
- 1:13:21few rounds for anything else, and we could be out out in May and
- 1:13:25he's done for the years, exactly. Okay, all right, Well,
- 1:13:30I'm glad that the Dodgers gave us more fodder here because Mike buy and Cell
- 1:13:32are different from everyone that we've already had. So my buye here is Evan
- 1:13:39Phillips. Once we saw that Josh Hater wasn't coming to LA, I think
- 1:13:44the Evan Phillips prices should have started shooting through the roof. They really haven't.
- 1:13:48I guess his men pick right now in the month of January is like
- 1:13:51down to seventy three, so there are some people that are really excited about
- 1:13:56him. I just don't see who gets an end Phil's way for the closer
- 1:14:01rule that like the Dodgers have been mixing and matching at the back of that
- 1:14:04bullpen, you know, the way most analytically inclined teams do nowadays. But
- 1:14:12they've also shown the pensionts to just let somebody close, like with Kenley Janssen
- 1:14:16over the years, if they've got the outstanding talent to do it and just
- 1:14:21the nails, and I think Evan Phillips does. He's absolutely got filthy stuff.
- 1:14:28He looks fantastic on the mound with his presence. Might not have the
- 1:14:31highest K nine for a closer, but he's got fantastic control just like doesn't
- 1:14:38blow up on you, so I think you can count on he put up
- 1:14:41a two O five era. Last year, Steamer has him for a three
- 1:14:45six two, But like, I think there's a good possibility, like there's
- 1:14:48no chance that he would be over like a two to eight, so like
- 1:14:51you could easily update his projections to reflect that. And again last year he
- 1:14:58had a point eight three whip Steamer has him for a one twenty one.
- 1:15:00Any projection system you're looking at, I think is going to be underrating Evan
- 1:15:03Phillips. And I think he's probably like a top five closer for me because
- 1:15:10great team, great skill set, and he's just a fantastic pitcher. No
- 1:15:17argument here, I think there's no no. I like that. It makes
- 1:15:20a lot of sense with the Hater for going else Hater caused a lot of
- 1:15:25problems. Yeah, that's and so with the cell I'm staying in the pitching
- 1:15:33staff, and that's Walker Bueler. I know this one's going to hurt you,
- 1:15:38Brew because you love Walker Beeler. But I just can't get behind the
- 1:15:42price until I see more than like two triple A innings or whatever he put
- 1:15:46up in one start last year. I need to see a little bit more.
- 1:15:49Coming back from a second Tommy John injury, we know that it takes
- 1:15:55a little while for control to come back for TJ guys, and given all
- 1:16:00of the arms that the Dodgers have, and can you know, make spot
- 1:16:03starts and help out with the bullpen. I mean you look at like somebody
- 1:16:08like Bruce dar Gratorol can be stretched out a little bit and go multiple innings.
- 1:16:12I just don't like where Walker Buehler, Like the floor here is super
- 1:16:17low in terms of you know, him not being able to make a lot
- 1:16:20of starts, and I just need to see more out of him before I'm
- 1:16:26buying in at the price where he's going, it's just way too rich for
- 1:16:29me. Yeah, this hurts. I'm not gonna lie. I do love
- 1:16:34Walker Buehler. Walker Buehler is uh, there's no a cinder guard if you
- 1:16:40look back, like if you look at guys that have the skill set that's
- 1:16:44to be unbelievable and just derailed by injury. Like I feel like I've having
- 1:16:49Daja vu again with the cinder guard back to day, like all the strikeouts,
- 1:16:54great control, ground ball, picture that all these things that you really
- 1:16:58look for, and then he just didn't get healthy and lost to velocity and
- 1:17:02it was over. That's I'm hanging out to hope. But I have to
- 1:17:06agree with you, like, I think you got to see it this year
- 1:17:10before you actually invest. Don't get me wrong, I'll probably end up with
- 1:17:14a share whichever league he kind of he kind of falls in, but especially
- 1:17:18Dynasty League. I'm probably gonna be over investing there. But I think you're
- 1:17:24right. Buehler's Bueller is way too tempting, and I think that the Dodger
- 1:17:29shine is gonna gonna force people to make a mistake on Walker Bueler. Yeah,
- 1:17:35I mean he's going in front of Justin Verlander, Like that blows my
- 1:17:40mind. I don't see how you would want to take Verlander over him.
- 1:17:45Maybe, you know, if we see that Buehler halfway through the season is
- 1:17:48like really found it. But at this point, like in January, I
- 1:17:53just can't poof. That's crazy. I would take Justin Verlander one hundred times
- 1:17:58half one hundred over him. Okay, yeah, there's a lot of guys
- 1:18:01in that range. I'd take over him. Yeah, exactly right, I
- 1:18:04like you. I mean, yeah, looking at the other guys around him
- 1:18:08in ADP, that's that's brutal. Yeah, you're looking for like a second
- 1:18:11starter, second third starter, So it's tough. Yeah, a lot of
- 1:18:14fun stuff there. I love Vivvy Gray. There's a lot of cool relievers,
- 1:18:18you know, you get get all the way down so you can cool
- 1:18:21your favorite Meryl Kelly, Yeah, sitting there. So there's a lot,
- 1:18:25there's a lot of interesting stuff right at that same point that does not have
- 1:18:29that flag. Yeah, okay, we're gonna go just down the southern California
- 1:18:34coastline down to San Diego for the Dads. The Padres been a really rough
- 1:18:40offseason for them as they've had to ship one soda out of town and the
- 1:18:45they are slowly but surely unmantling some of those high price contracts that they've got
- 1:18:50going on. So should be taking a little bit of a step back,
- 1:18:53but still a pretty competitive team, and I think, especially on the pitching
- 1:18:58staff, we've got a lot of good kind of questions and opportunities going on.
- 1:19:02But same thing I think with the bats. Lots of interesting bats still
- 1:19:05here in San Diego. So trust who you going with your buy and sell
- 1:19:10from the Padres. Yeah, my buie is actually another guy who i'd take
- 1:19:14over, Walker Bueller, that's in that same that same range and Joe Musgrove.
- 1:19:18I'd much rather much rather have Musgrove over Bueller. There. Muscove is
- 1:19:24just always chronically underrated. I feel like coming into this year, well,
- 1:19:29going back to last year, he was hampered by you know, dropping a
- 1:19:31weight on his toe in spring training, which, right, I feel like,
- 1:19:35really set him off the whole season. But he's a guy I'm definitely
- 1:19:40looking at bouncing back and and can really can really shoot up and return a
- 1:19:44lot of value there at around one ten one hundred, that's that's pretty ideal
- 1:19:48as a as a two three, that's that's yeah, that's where I'm looking.
- 1:19:54Yeah, I agree, and great, just great volume of innings too,
- 1:19:58just always post when he's not dropping weights. Yeah, I feel like
- 1:20:02Muscrow still somehow has like a cloud over him for with the Pirates. It's
- 1:20:06just like that anybody with the Pirates I just don't want to touch. I
- 1:20:10think it's a common thing, like kind with the White Socks and the Rockies
- 1:20:14and so now, Like even though he's been conver fewyears and shown this like
- 1:20:16what he can actually do, I think people still like it's Joe must grow,
- 1:20:20Like come on, yeah, I think we have a lot of memories
- 1:20:26fantasy baseballish. That's true, all right, who are you gonna go for
- 1:20:30yourself? Uh so my cell is actually that's this is short memory and that's
- 1:20:35you darbish who just brutalized me last year, and I'm not touching this year.
- 1:20:40I I almost dropped him a few times that last year. He just
- 1:20:46if he's he seems broken and if he's not, I'll let somebody else take
- 1:20:50the shot on him. I mean, he's going low enough or it's not
- 1:20:54that risky of a shot. But yeah, I don't. I just that's
- 1:20:59a sour taste in my mouth. But I'm not going back to Yeah,
- 1:21:01I totally understand. And I was looking at him to put him, you
- 1:21:06know, somewhere in the bicell. And the home runs have gotten out of
- 1:21:10control, Like I think I lost sight of that a little bit last year,
- 1:21:13that it's really tough to depend on somebody like that when they're just letting
- 1:21:19the ball fly out of the park consistently. I mean, look at like
- 1:21:23lanceln It just like erects you and it comes out of nowhere. Yeah.
- 1:21:30Yeah, seven earned runs and three innings. Those are always rough, and
- 1:21:33it feels like it takes forever to dig out of those holes, but you
- 1:21:36get you get down in them really quick. Yeah, exactly. Just it's
- 1:21:41so tempting. Oh, it's fun to watch this stuff. It's just tempting
- 1:21:44to take him. But when you look at the other options, you look
- 1:21:47at the volatility, it's just like, no, you better better stay away.
- 1:21:51So I think he's gonna be one of those drafts that like, he
- 1:21:55may drop a long way and it's just gonna be sitting there at the top
- 1:21:58of the draft board and it's gonna be so gus starting attempting to commit to
- 1:22:02it and then if you do, probably gonna regret it. Yeah. I
- 1:22:06think that's totally fair. So Brew, who are you gonna go with your
- 1:22:11buy and sell in San Diego? Well, we're gonna keep going through the
- 1:22:15rotation here and a guy that I I absolutely love, Michael King. Uh
- 1:22:20just coming over from from the Yankees. Uh. You know, I know
- 1:22:24the track record's not too long, not too deep, but he was lights
- 1:22:30out last year. He really seemed like he fit well in the rotation.
- 1:22:34This is a guy that brings the strikeouts, has pretty pretty good control,
- 1:22:40decent ground ball rates, things that I love. You know, his last
- 1:22:43seven starts last year he had a two two e ar, a one oh
- 1:22:46nine whip, five percent walk rate, and thirty two per k rates.
- 1:22:49So that was just a unbelievable stretch at the end of the year. And
- 1:22:55uh, I'm a little surprised that the Yankees let him go. But I'm
- 1:22:58thinking Michael King over guys like Jordan Montgomery, Hunter Green, Chris Bassett,
- 1:23:02and even the Walker Bueler that we were just talking about earlier. So I
- 1:23:08like Michael King at my buy in San Diego. Yeah, I think that's
- 1:23:13a great pick. That he was someone that I was considering as well,
- 1:23:16that he was fantastic in his starts down the stretch for the Yankees, and
- 1:23:21so I think he showed a lot of what we would have had questions about
- 1:23:26if he had been moved into the rotation of the offseason. That doing that
- 1:23:30in season's even tougher. So now that he is an off season to prepare,
- 1:23:32I love him as a pick. So who are you gonna go with
- 1:23:35for yourself? Yeah? So for mysel, I'm going down the draft board
- 1:23:42a little bit here in the catchers category. When we were talking Luis camp
- 1:23:45Pisano. The reason I'm going to sell because he is the seventeenth catcher off
- 1:23:49the board. Going a little deep here, but he has been going as
- 1:23:53high as number eight for his mid pick as far as catchers, and you
- 1:23:58know, you can easily look him. He was just twenty five years old
- 1:24:01and he's got all this upside. But last year he was bullied by a
- 1:24:05high baby if he had almost a three forty BEBA. And if you just
- 1:24:09look at his splits from a career perspective, you know he's got a WRT
- 1:24:14plus against the lefties of almost one seventy, but then eighty against the writings
- 1:24:19like he is very inconsistent. He's platoon bound, and I'm surprised that he's
- 1:24:25even been taken as a starting catcher in a two catcher league for Campusado here
- 1:24:30so shocked to degree that he's been taken at the number one in some of
- 1:24:34the draft data that we were seen. So I'm definitely out on Louis Campusano.
- 1:24:40Yeah, I think that's fair that I have been on here touting a
- 1:24:45bunch of young catchers, but Campusano I've never really been into. I just
- 1:24:48it's a lot of prospect like projection on him as opposed to actual production over
- 1:24:55the years, and so I think he needs to turn a corner and actually
- 1:24:59shows something for me to start believing in him at all. That there's so
- 1:25:02many young late catchers as we keep covering that Campusano, I think is maybe
- 1:25:08the one landmine in all of them. Yeah, absolutely, all right,
- 1:25:12well's set, let's say cool, let's hit your your picks for the Padres.
- 1:25:16Okay, so my buy is going to be pretty deep. That actually
- 1:25:23I don't even know if I ever looked up as ADP data, so I
- 1:25:26will look that up now. And that is Giro Iraute, one of the
- 1:25:31prospect arms that the Padres have. And this is also kind of like a
- 1:25:35in general, like all these kind of back end Padres arms. I really
- 1:25:41like them that like, not only is like Michael King, I think a
- 1:25:45really great get, but like Johnny Brito is going to be on a lot
- 1:25:47of my teams as a late pick, as well as Drew Thorpe. That
- 1:25:55there's a lot of opportunity at the back end of the Padres rotation. And
- 1:26:00I think my favorite of them all though is Gyry Artdey. Last year,
- 1:26:03he was absolutely insane that he put up in double A over twenty nine innings,
- 1:26:11so he got seven starts seven starts over thirteen games in late summer.
- 1:26:15He's also he was twenty one when he moved up, so he's very young
- 1:26:19that we're looking at somebody with a fifteen point six K nine there, but
- 1:26:24it did come with a lot of walks five point two walks k per nine.
- 1:26:28So he's got just electric stuff that he's learning to command. And I
- 1:26:33think with the offseason you got to hope that he's put a little bit that
- 1:26:38work in because he wasn't really having these issues until I think he probably bumped
- 1:26:43up his velocity during the twenty twenty COVID time. You just see it like
- 1:26:47in terms of his growth, where twenty nineteen he came in and wasn't as
- 1:26:50much of like a strikeout artist in rookie ball and then came back with just
- 1:26:56some filthier stuff that he's been rising through the Padres system. He's got lots
- 1:27:00of good stuff written about him from Baseball Perspectus and Eric Longenhangen that I think
- 1:27:05he's got the most electric arm in this Padre system. And so when we're
- 1:27:10talking the very very end of drafts, you know he is going I still
- 1:27:15should have looked that up while I was talking I looked it up. He's
- 1:27:19going seven forty four off the ball. Yeah, exactly, I'm pretty sure.
- 1:27:25Except in your one hundred roster league he is three. Yeah, So
- 1:27:30like question to you, are you drafted him uh in or only if you
- 1:27:34have a minor spot. Yeah, so that if you do have minor league
- 1:27:38spots, definitely situations there or draft and holds like I would be looking at
- 1:27:42him. I mean your standard like twelve team. He's more of like a
- 1:27:44watchless guy, you know, And only I would be picking him and like
- 1:27:47holding him because I think he's got the stuff to either rise through spring training
- 1:27:54or come up quickly because the back end of this padre's rotation is just gonna
- 1:28:00be like they're trained to patch up the boat while it's sinking. So you
- 1:28:05know, right now in the four or five spot on roster resource you have
- 1:28:09Pedro Avila and Randy Vasquez. They're okay, but like I just don't see
- 1:28:14it happening and sticking all year, and who knows with Michael King's injury history
- 1:28:18and you Darvish, as we just talked, has been really rough. So
- 1:28:21I think because of the opportunity, Erarte will get in there quick, just
- 1:28:27because they got to try to win now that like they have Machado tatist,
- 1:28:32Bogart signed these big contracts and they've got to try to put this together and
- 1:28:38make a wild wild card team on the fly. Well here I heard it
- 1:28:43first, gyro Urarte. Yeah, it's a good deep cut. It was
- 1:28:46a pretty cut. And we'll come back to this, I think July next
- 1:28:50ye year, and you'll look like a genius or world forgot. I know.
- 1:28:55This is coming from the guy who spent like three months all summer talking
- 1:28:59about Mike McGreevy and my Waiver Wire article. So fair point for you.
- 1:29:09Yeah, just throwing the biases out there, just letting everybody know. Okay,
- 1:29:15uh for my cell though, I'm gonna go with Xander Bogart's. I
- 1:29:17think it's a little bit of like the name is more valuable than the actual
- 1:29:23production. That last year he did pick up soul and bases along with everybody
- 1:29:27else. You know, he got back up to double digits at nineteen,
- 1:29:30but he only gave you a two eighty five average with nineteen homers. Now
- 1:29:35that he's left Boston, and so I think what made Xander a good pick
- 1:29:41where he's going now, which is you know, around pick one hundred,
- 1:29:45So that's historically kind of where he's hung out. What he's been good about
- 1:29:49in that range over time has been the floor that he gives you on that
- 1:29:54Banning average, because Boston's a great place to hit, best place after Coors
- 1:29:59Fee. So with that gone and hitting in the marine layer in San Diego,
- 1:30:03it really drove down his average and everything around him is also not as
- 1:30:09offensively good that the bottom half of the Padres lineup is just like the back
- 1:30:13half of that rotation where they're gonna have to figure that on the fly and
- 1:30:16it's gonna hurt his RBIs his runs that I would rather pass on. Where's
- 1:30:23Andre Bogotz is going? And you know there's tons of shortstops going in that
- 1:30:27range that provide a little more upside between Folpi or Trevor Story or Willie Dominis
- 1:30:32in a contract year going later, Jackson Holliday, I'd rather go that route
- 1:30:38and save my pick where Bogart's is going right now? Yeah, both interesting.
- 1:30:45He's an interesting guy, right. It's sometimes those players you just don't
- 1:30:48know what to do with them, Like you can see a buy or a
- 1:30:51cell and so you just don't draft them at all, so you don't know
- 1:30:54what to think. Like that's example, Bogart Smiths is like I look at
- 1:30:58I was thinking the same thing when I first started looking from like sell Xander
- 1:31:01all day, and his numbers are like, man, he was better last
- 1:31:04year than I thought he was, but I still can't buy him. So
- 1:31:09yeah, he's one of those guys that I think you just I'm just avoiding
- 1:31:11him because I have no idea what to get out of him. And when
- 1:31:14that's the case, like is he gonna steal twenty bases or five? Hard
- 1:31:17to build a team around that, I agree, somebody will be higher on
- 1:31:24him than I am. Yeah, absolutely, Yeah, that's why I'm thinking
- 1:31:28too. All right, let's go back north in San Francisco up to San
- 1:31:32Francisco North in California. That's what I meant to say. And I think
- 1:31:39this is going to be another interesting I'm looking forward to this discussion because what's
- 1:31:43kind of weird is the Giants also only have five players in the top three
- 1:31:47hundred right now like the Rockies, but the overall team is certainly different.
- 1:31:53They're going to be a much better team, a competitive team playing for wild
- 1:31:56card, but it's more so that they're playing like the Rays with platoons everywhere,
- 1:32:01got some uncertain arms coming through in new roles. So trust there's a
- 1:32:06lot going on in San Francisco. But I think that's also right for us
- 1:32:10fantasy players to find good opportunities. So who are you going with for your
- 1:32:14buy and sell? Yeah, there is, it's how do you think of
- 1:32:17it done? I went a little bit deep on this one, and this
- 1:32:21is more of one of those injury injury stashes, and that's grabbing Robbie Ray
- 1:32:29really late free basically, I think it was out four ninety eight and just
- 1:32:34you know, stashing them if you've got one of those leagues with a lot
- 1:32:38of injury spots or you know, I probably won't snag him in an RCL
- 1:32:42because we only have three injury spots and those those always get tight. But
- 1:32:47a league with more than that, I think that's a really good, really
- 1:32:51good stash for the second half of the season. Yeah, I think that's
- 1:32:56fair. I like that. I like that pick just because your point like,
- 1:32:59you're not investing much there, and he's the kind of guy that at
- 1:33:01the end of the day, like if you have to cut him loose.
- 1:33:03In April, or may because you got a roster crunch. You're like,
- 1:33:06well, oh well it was worth trying, right, and it was a
- 1:33:11free be to a degree, so maybe you're there later in the in the
- 1:33:15summer you're like, I really need drike outs. Just wait for Robbie Ray.
- 1:33:18You might kill you on the rest of them everything else and it might
- 1:33:24be brutal, but yeah, you win somebody loose. Yeah. I also
- 1:33:28like that, you know, he's not stretched out to start all the time,
- 1:33:31that the giants could do a Sean and I A with him and use
- 1:33:33him as like a following an opener and kind of find spots to pick and
- 1:33:38choose for him. Yeah, he can be really effective in that kind of
- 1:33:41role. Yeah, okay, who's your cell? Yeah, it's hard to
- 1:33:45find a sell. Like you said, everybody's so low. I guess if
- 1:33:49I had I went just go right to the top and devall. If I
- 1:33:54have to sell somebody, I feel like that's he's kind of in that upper
- 1:33:59low were upper I guess closer range that I'm probably just gonna skip and wait
- 1:34:02for a guy like Evan Phillips a little bit later, who who I like
- 1:34:08a little more and can can save almost fifty picks and get equivalent, if
- 1:34:14not better production from So yeah, I think that's fair. The problem I
- 1:34:18have with theval and this is like completely a West Coast bias, is that
- 1:34:24he's the kind of guy that go to sleep with and then wake up in
- 1:34:26the morning and he's he's given up five earned and won the slaves. Say,
- 1:34:30but I missed it, and so I didn't check the team, and
- 1:34:32then I come back later like his era is now like four and a half,
- 1:34:36I'm like, what happened? Like I, which is again that's zero
- 1:34:41like fantasy relevance. But the fact that like he seems to BLOWO saves in
- 1:34:45the middle of the night, that I miss it, and then I come
- 1:34:46back and be like, I'm shocked that those things happen. But he seems
- 1:34:50volatile. He seems like one of those guys that's just waiting to blow up
- 1:34:55at some point and lose the job and never get it back. Right,
- 1:34:57Yeah, wait to have Jordan Hicks step in, Yeah, absolutely, or
- 1:35:00the Rogers Brothers is gonna start, Yeah, gonna right in the middle.
- 1:35:06Yeah, Okay, I think those are great picks. So Brew, I'll
- 1:35:11let you go here. What you got for your buy and sell from the
- 1:35:14Giants. Yeah, so I'm gonna I'm gonna start with my cell just because
- 1:35:17we're talking talking pictures here. So my self for the Giants is Kyle Harrison.
- 1:35:26Kyle Harrison's going two seventy five something like that off the board. And
- 1:35:32the problem with Harrison is not the talent, it's the volatility. And he's
- 1:35:38the kind of guy that you're like, gonna, you're you're messing around with,
- 1:35:42Like he's got control issues. We think maybe not, who knows,
- 1:35:45it's kind of hard to tell sometimes, but he's you like to see a
- 1:35:49juicy matchup and you're like, I'm gonna start him in this matchup. He's
- 1:35:53gonna go up against the pirates or whoever. And then he just walks like
- 1:35:57seven guys and kills your gives up six earned and they just leave him out
- 1:36:01there to to go deep in the game, to let the bullpen rest.
- 1:36:04And so I think that my problem with Kyle Harrison is I have them on
- 1:36:08my team. I'm going to constantly torpedo myself because I'm gonna make the wrong
- 1:36:13choice and I just I need to peck myself because I'm gonna see those and
- 1:36:15I'm gonna want to lay into it. I'm gonna miss the great start and
- 1:36:18try to start in the next week. Like I'm just scared of the roster
- 1:36:23management issues with with Kyle Harrison again that analysis of anything of him, just
- 1:36:29the fact that I can't manage my own lineups. You got to know your
- 1:36:34own weaknesses, right, Yeah, injury guys and young starting pitchers. From
- 1:36:42a buy perspective, one of my favorite buys of all hitters is on the
- 1:36:47Giants. I love NATO's He is a guy that reached the majors at twenty
- 1:36:54one. He only batted under three hundred and one stop in the minors.
- 1:37:00He was a great consistent hitters, you know, he was kind of a
- 1:37:03fifteen to fifteen guy between the miners and the majors, and he was walking
- 1:37:10more than he struck out before he got called up last year. So he
- 1:37:13has great plate discipline. So he's one of those kind of guys that just
- 1:37:16I mean a little growth from a twenty one year old getting twenty two to
- 1:37:21twenty three, you know, really getting up there if he's already going fifteen
- 1:37:25to fifteen, has a capability to hit three hundred with great plate approach.
- 1:37:29It's not that hard to squint at him and go, could he go twenty
- 1:37:31twenty and hit three hundred? Well, yeah, he absolutely could, and
- 1:37:35he's basically free. So I don't know. I didn't look at roster resources
- 1:37:40to see what they says. I just think that his talent deserves an opportunity
- 1:37:45to be starting in the San Francisco outfield. But he's going at roughly pick
- 1:37:51six hundred at this point. So I absolutely love Luis Matto's and I'm going
- 1:37:56to be absolutely frustrated if he is not starting for the Giants. Yeah,
- 1:38:02he's currently slated for Triple A, but I think that's fair because they're always
- 1:38:06mixing and matchin and Jazz is hurt. Confordo was hurt that. I think
- 1:38:13I saw a little bit of that in the outfield too, because my BI
- 1:38:15is actually Helio Ramos and kind of like the same thing. He's currently scheduled
- 1:38:19for the short side platoon of like one of those positions with Confordo on YAZ.
- 1:38:25But it's mostly because the bad of ball data on Helio Ramos is a
- 1:38:30lot better than you would think it would be. That even though he really
- 1:38:33struggled last year when he was in the major's only put up a one seventy
- 1:38:38nine two thirty three three h four slash. I mean it was only over
- 1:38:43sixty played appearances, so we're not talking a huge sample size, but that
- 1:38:46came with a thirty three percent strikeout rate. He's struck out won every three
- 1:38:50at bats. But what's crazy about it is he has great contact rates in
- 1:38:57zone. He's got a eighty nine contact rate. So what he's actually needing
- 1:39:02to do is being able to, you know, swing maybe a little bit
- 1:39:08less on the edges. Like his O swing's not even terrible, it's thirty
- 1:39:11five percent, but out his own contact rate is forty six percent, So
- 1:39:15you're looking at somebody who maybe needs to learn to lay off a slider a
- 1:39:18little bit. And when he does get the bat on the ball, his
- 1:39:24exit maxit exit below last year was one twelve point seven, so that's pretty
- 1:39:30good. You're looking at a barrel rate. Again, it was a pretty
- 1:39:32small sample size, but of thirteen percent, he hits the ball hard.
- 1:39:36So I think that you know, now that Ramos has gotten a taste of
- 1:39:41the majors, hopefully they can retool him a little bit over the offseason and
- 1:39:45he can get a chance to shine in one of those outfield spots. Well,
- 1:39:50we'll see. You have both picked guys that the miners all year.
- 1:39:56This will be a good recap to come back to exactly. I mean both
- 1:40:00talented though they're they're both I like, I like both the picks. Well,
- 1:40:03just that it's so frustrating over there with with all their platoons and yeah,
- 1:40:09you read through the line up there just like nothing inspires like excitement.
- 1:40:13You like, I just draw to La Monte Wade, Wilmer, Flores Conford
- 1:40:16to J D. Davis, like Pa patrick Ley, like nothing there just
- 1:40:19like, yes, I'm really excited. But they're they're all like that solid
- 1:40:25player that you just wish there's a little bit more. I guess that's why
- 1:40:28they love bron Brennan Crawford for all those years. That's the Giants type of
- 1:40:31player, the guy that like he just could be you just hope that he
- 1:40:35could turn the corner. And now they're just they're just average. Yeah,
- 1:40:40it will be weird not having Brandon Crawford there this year, So it's we
- 1:40:45strange, like fans. So yeah, and I guess, I mean I
- 1:40:53didn't really have a so I guess maybe it's my Confordo here because of like
- 1:40:57what we're talking about. He's not good defensively. This isn't a team that
- 1:41:00can have like a full time DHS. They needed to swap people in and
- 1:41:03out, and it would be really tough to see where Confordo maybe fits in
- 1:41:10long term. You know, any sort of small injury I think to Confordo
- 1:41:14and they, the San Francisco Giants, I think will jump on that to
- 1:41:17be able to like phantom ale him as long as they can. So I'm
- 1:41:21saying away from Michael Confordo and would rather take a shot on some of these
- 1:41:26deeper up and coming outfielders that we just talked about. Yeah, I like
- 1:41:30it awesome, Well I think, I mean, I would ask everybody's pick
- 1:41:38for this division. But anybody not going with the Dodgers. This is last
- 1:41:42week we ran into this too, and seeing if anybody was not picking the
- 1:41:45Braves for the N East any reason, we wouldn't. Anyone wants to go
- 1:41:49out a limb and not pick the Dodgers here to win the division. Like
- 1:41:59I'm still I'm still shocked. I was looking at their ADP and we were
- 1:42:02joking about the fifteen guys in the top three hundred. That's literally every starting
- 1:42:06hitter, every starting pitcher in the closer. Now, yeah, it's not
- 1:42:11quite that bad because she hands no longer in there. You know, Paxson's
- 1:42:14probably to take it spot. Like literally every starting player on your team is
- 1:42:18being drafted for relevance and fantasy like, that's that's just not fair. Like
- 1:42:25on fantasy game, we're trying to pick the best of the best. Like,
- 1:42:27well, I want to see the team out there that just drafts the
- 1:42:29entire Dodgers roster and then still wins their fantasy Like, that's just not fair.
- 1:42:36Trust, what about you? You got any reason to doubt the Dodgers
- 1:42:40this year? No, I like Bruce Spike call just just for Spie,
- 1:42:45But no, it's I mean, it's it's their division to lose. So
- 1:42:49yeah, I totally agree. So that was a great overcap. I think
- 1:42:54of the you know West, we hit some top tippy top of the draft,
- 1:42:58you know, top ten guys and some really late minor league guys.
- 1:43:01So that was a great discussion. Trust, thanks so much for joining us
- 1:43:05here on this episode of Cards and Categories. Remind people where they can find
- 1:43:10any of her work or reach out to you. Yeah, and thanks so
- 1:43:14much for having me guys. It was a blast to be on here.
- 1:43:16Yep. So I'll be covering the RcLs all year long. Go ahead and
- 1:43:23look for that in mid February, I think is when the announcement will come
- 1:43:26out for those leagues opening up. And you can buy me around on Twitter
- 1:43:30at Matt Trusts And yeah, thanks again. Yeah, we had a great
- 1:43:38time talking to you, so we'll looking you back anytime. You're leading us
- 1:43:43as an editor and getting us through submissions on WordPress. We always appreciate that.
- 1:43:47So yeah, it's a great quiz trust down here. Who's worse to
- 1:43:54edit for? It's Coolly. I mean the waiver wire that columns has got
- 1:43:59to be a beast. It is a be and Coolly knocked that thing out
- 1:44:04of the park. Let me tell you the absolutely word count is yeah,
- 1:44:10I mean yeah, based on word count Coolly. But I mean you guys
- 1:44:14are both great. Yeah, I'm just trying to generate all those words so
- 1:44:17Google can always like find it, right, you just got to like absolutely,
- 1:44:20yeah, I'm just causing problem with this. I appreciate you both,
- 1:44:29yes, thank you, and uh brew remind everybody where they can find you.
- 1:44:33Yeah, you find me over on Twitter or x whatever you want to
- 1:44:36call it these days. Jay Brewer one seven also find me o. We're
- 1:44:40on rasball and the weekends with your hitter profiles. During the season, we'll
- 1:44:44be drawn through your top one every other week. Please come out and argue
- 1:44:48with me with all of the fun hitters. I think my favorite article the
- 1:44:53season is always that first top one hundred with everybody criticizes every choice that's ever
- 1:44:58made. I feel like I need to take a week off after those ones.
- 1:45:01But please come out on the weekends check things out over raswell. We
- 1:45:06are now a full full swing for the early preseason. Yes, definitely.
- 1:45:12It is up and running and you can find me on Twitter at m cool
- 1:45:16seven. Same handle for Blue Sky and Waiver Wires. Will be starting when
- 1:45:21the season starts. But I was on Keelan Blues Ambulance Changers this past weekend,
- 1:45:29so she's got a great series running there. But lots of stuff to
- 1:45:31check out Rasball. Everybody's up and running doing previews and we've got great subscriptions,
- 1:45:38so if you need some projections or any sorts of like daily lineup questions.
- 1:45:44I really love using our daily projections for that and also looking back and
- 1:45:49analyzing just the values. I think it's got one of the better auction calculators
- 1:45:54that it's kicks out. I think more just interesting stats than what you get
- 1:46:00out of even the fangrass one. That it kind of brings new players to
- 1:46:03light. That we get that all done through subscriptions, so we appreciate anybody
- 1:46:08who comes on to rasball signs up for a subscription keeps us running. You
- 1:46:13can check out cards and Categories on Twitter at cards Categories or email the pod
- 1:46:18at Cards Categories at gmail dot com, and then wherever you're listening to this
- 1:46:23pod, please rate, review, like the pod comment. We really appreciate
- 1:46:28any and all feedback. So we will wrap up the pod for this week
