• Hemispheric Views 167.mp3 It's July. I quit sound source before we started recording. I think there was a meme about that, wasn't there? Or maybe I was just thinking about that in my head. I think there was a meme. So yes, it is July. Is that of any significance to you, Martin? Well it's no longer a certain month in which a certain Burie was happening. Oh my god, you're so right. It's July. Which means it's not June. And the only thing that people are missing is June Bree. It's over. It's gone. Thirty days. It went by in a flash. It's not the World Cup. Do you guys even know that it happened? It was so quick. It it was it wasn't flash, and I tried to catch up and then I found out of course Jason as June Burry Master has locked the conversation and I knew that Andrew and I had no chance of catching up and I was like, you know what, I'm gonna do my due diligence. I've been I was like putting down in notes the things that I was gonna add so like no that's it. So I know my place. Thank you, Jason. You are the master. Thank you for your effort, but I know Martin, you're too late. Yep. You can't catch it. The door I said the door was gonna close and the door literally did close on June Buried. But look, it's about the listeners. It's about the listeners anyway, isn't it? Really. Yeah. Not us. We couldn't win. You know, because we're related parties. But we try to participate, and as you say, door closed, padlock put on. Good night. Thank you for coming. I was so excited when I found that feature. Mostly because it was gonna make my life easier. People couldn't keep adding things as I was trying to score. Or certain co-hosts couldn't like just completely reorder the whole thing. That as well. Yes. Yes. Not that that's ever happened last year. It's my favorite thing ever. So yeah, we are we are officially on the other side of June and therefore June Burie, and that means it's time to announce the winners of June Baree twenty twenty six. Wow. I think uh what I what I let's see, I think what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna do I'm gonna list out the top ten in reverse order, obviously. Otherwise if, I start with number one, that's not gonna be very exciting. And we'll uh we'll announce the top ten winners, well, top ten placements and top three winners of June Bree 2026, and then I'm going to show both of you on video the trophies for June Bree 2026 that were completed in the month of June for the first time in six years. Wow. And you are only allowed to make sounds and and faces and no descriptions or anything that will give away what said trophy actually is this year. Okay? But are we allowed to put stuff in the show notes for people afterwards. Is that okay? Can people say no? We can't in in June in just like other times. Fashion, uh the bylaws state pictures of trophies may not be shared until all winners receive said trophies in their possession. I remember that. Yeah good point. So I'm gonna have to come up with like really weird descriptions that throw off everyone. Yes. Yeah you can you can go totally hang a left and describe something that's not it at all. That's totally fine. Alright, I'll do that. I'll do that. That's fine. Alright, so are you ready for the top ten? We can put in like drum roll or something. Drum roll there. In tenth place with 1,458.84 points is Patrick. Good job, Patrick. Ninth place with 1461 point ninety-eight points is Kurt. Eighth place. One thousand four hundred and seventy-seven point six eight points. Fih u. I don't know if that's how it fee. I don't I do like your precision the precision of your scoring down to two decimal points. This is good. One one wasn't enough. Yeah. Peehoo. How does that go, Martin? Pheehoo Yep, that one. That's eighth place. I'm just doing Andrew's supposed to insult the listeners with pronunciation. I'm doing it. Seventh place with 1,487.10 points. Zachary. Tide. Okay, now we have a Tide for sixth place. Ooh. At 1,490.24 points. Wow. Is John and Q E N U P V E. Anybody want to take a crack at that? Queen? Queen? This is too fast. I'm trying to re-trace what you just said. And in fifth place, with one 1499.66 points is Phil. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. We're getting close to the top three. I know I could feel the anticipation is a name that I haven't heard read out yet, which I'm a little bit worried about. Hey, look, if he's got it, look but it's he's the master. In fourth place with one thousand five hundred and forty point four eight points is Nick. Good job, Nick. Friend of friend of me, Nick. Friend of Perth I think they call him. Um yeah, the top four spots were very close. Like just razor thin. Razor thin here. Hence the two decimal points. All right Al.right, third place. One thousand five hundred and forty-three point six two. I always read this as Mr. Outley, but it's M Routley. Routley? I think That's a great point. And it's funny 'cause I always want to read like Rutley as a uh as the opposite of Route in America. Like what's your reading? Yeah Rutley, Routley, but I always say Mr. Outley. Mr. Outley. So Mr. Outley, congratulations on third place. I'm getting I'm getting hot just thinking about reading the final two. I'm gonna have a sip of water real quick. Hold on. Hold on I'm aware of what names haven't been read. Oh no. That was good one. Come on, no. This is what will be will be, Andrew. Okay. This is the listeners. It's about their effort. I'm celebrating our entire listenership. Yes. In second place, silver medal one thousand five hundred and forty-nine point nine zero points. Rob with two Bs And in pole is it pole position? Is that right? Is that the is that the front? I'm not. I think I call it Jedi Master position. I'm not an F2 driver um in first place with one thousand five hundred and fifty nine point three two points is I'm another sip of water real quick hold on Think you need more than a sip. It's Eric M Walk. Eric, that is unbelievable. Congratulations. Six consecutive years of hemispheric competitions. I I counted, I tallied, I checked the work, I went through and did it three times to ensure that I had not miscalculated, that there was not a bug in the spreadsheet. And that's what it is. So we've got third place. Uh I'm going with Mr. Outley still. I hope he doesn't hate that. Second place, Rob with two B's. And first place is Eric M. Walk. Well, that's an amazing effort, Eric and Rob and everyone, including Mr. Outley, as we discovered, uh is how Jason says it. But um can I ask you, Jason, is yeah I don't know if you can share this as behind the scenes score checking. Oh. We know that Eric, listener Eric, you know, now six-time consecutive champion, is an Arcadia fiend. Was the Arcadia component central to his victory or at least supporting it. Because we know that he's very good at those games. It did pull. Yeah, like I said, the top four positions were razor thin close, and that did just barely bump above wow uh second place. So there you have it. Well I'm amazed. We got our rankings not ro let's not say wrong. Yeah, but we did entirely re engineer the competition to allow somebody else to win. Absolutely. Look look. I think I think that was accomplished. I think everyone did a great job. I think it was a lot it was a lot of fun. There was a lot of different things you could do. And it really came down to doing all the challenges um every day. I think was just that, you know, do what it says on the tin and that that should get you there. Well look I I don't and I don't mean to dismiss it. I'm not I'm not unhappy that Eric won. I am more just I'm impressed. I'm amazed. I that is incredible. And his trophy cabinet, which I think he included as one of his photos of the day, with the hemispheric views trophy cabinet. I guess that photo's gonna need updating soon enough. Yep, yep, yep, that's true. I wanna I wanna thank everyone for their effort. I wanna also acknowledge uh some of the fantastic memes that were developed and even ways that they represented us as co-hosts. And if you aren't in the forum and you're listening to the show, obviously June Burry has wrapped up for this year as our first experimental foray into that format. But um it's it's a testament to your work in moving from Discord, Jason, because I love the way that this functions is like a bit of an open web archive. It's a bit more of a history. So you can you can go and explore this stuff, and there are great ambient sounds of like the outside people's homes. There's just all these great things that are a bit more of a personal representation of all of you out there who listen to us. So thanks very much. And of course, Rob with Two B's. Sorry if I'm not acknowledging other people who've done a similar thing, but Rob with Two B's, uh, UK hemispheric ambassador, he did a greatp wra-up post as he does very well. So thanks for doing that, pulling all of your stuff together to show what you did. So you know congratulations Eric but congratulations everyone for putting a bit of yourself into this because I loved seeing what people are up to and what they get out of the show or what they brought of themselves. So really great stuff. Definitely. Yes. Thank you everyone for joining and we hope that it is even bigger in 2027. Now quickly, can I flash you guys some trophies that you can't talk about? Sure. Because you haven't seen them. You've not seen them. You don't know what they're, you have no clue. I have done this in a box, hidden from the world. Like you know, you think that oh they wherever they make iPhones is probably real secret. Nothing on June Berie trophy making. Okay. So here we go. Again, don't say out loud what it is when I show it to you. If you do well actually, you know what? You can, as long as Martin beeps it out. So Yeah, this is more work for me. So the trophies, obviously there's three of them. So we have one in gold. Nice. How did you make it so chicken shaped? Wow. The feathers look real, don't they? Like you actually cut out all those little holes. Like I'm seeing here, it's like a rooster. Every single one, yeah, by hand. Yeah. That's amazing. Like you've actually done the plumage pretty well. And what place is this one you've just held up? You're holding up another one. This is two. This is the silver. So And the way that it kind of yeah, I'm seeing it's almost like you know, Tarzos, how you would like different images would appear on that one. That's pretty cool. Like you you just tilt it. This is the three. This is the I'm not sure I'm actually allowed to describe that on the podcast. That could give us an explicit rating, that one. They each have just broke the trophy. Just dropped something. I'm gonna keep that audio if it comes through. Wow. That is awesome. They each have little stands. Well, listeners, one of them looks like a rooster, one of them looks like a Tarzo, and the other one is uh, yeah, actually inappropriate for any podcast material. Well, congratulations everyone. Thanks for showing us the trophies, Jas And for now you can just imagine poultry, uh, chip packet toy and something triple X roaded. Well, I have a blog post ready that will be posted once everybody gets them in the mail. So there you go. That is Jumbari 2026. That is amazing. What's next? Uh Jason, your brain is free. Is that right? I can't like this has a robot next to it. Oh I put this in for Andrew. Yeah, I know. I put this in for Andrew 'cause there was some app and I was like, oh, I already know who probably uses that or is gonna use that or has used it fifteen times in the past and is gonna use it again. That's called the brain. All of those things are true. He's like, Yep, that's me. Been using it for versions and versions and versions and then never actually paying money for it. Perfect. So now I think now that they've gone free, they might actually get me to pay the money. Because the free version is free for local files, but once you want to start syncing, you can sync a small number small amount of content, but then once you start to really use the full potential of the brain, you exceed your sync capacity and you have to pay. But here we go. So I'm just looking this up because I have no idea what you're talking about. So this is some knowledge management linking things of course of co courseur yes of course ofse because I'm thinking I'm thinking the brain is free oh like we've is this like code for the word that Jason likes to uh doesn't like to say sabbatical but it's it's actually an app. No all right and I I I've been using it the last week at work. I've been using it. You've been using your brain at work. Yeah, I have. I have. It's uncanny. That's that's good. And uh I've been using it instead instead of obsidian and enjoying it, dare I say. It's really good that the i the way I'm fine like the bra obsidian, you put all these links in, you do this linking to other notes. You never use them. The links just exist, but they never actually get clicked. It's obscene. You never get the relationships. Now with the brain, I'm seeing I'm visually through the Plex, as they call it, which is the little mind map view. I'm seeing relationships between this topic and this topic over here. It's quite enjoyable. Although I do notice other people looking at my screen sometimes and wondering what why the heck is Andrew playing a game. Yeah, he really likes mind mapping button as a game. But I think they've all worked out that I'm a bit of a weird one and I I use weird software. You think they just did? Like it took them some time. Just don't tell the IT department, okay? Well, they are on the call, but surveilling, yeah. Damn it. Yeah, the brain. Get on it. Um it's cool, it's fun. It's actually fun. Or don't. Either way. What I love about this is that it reveals how maybe you think differently. I don't know if you're like this, Jason, but you want to visualize the thoughts that you're having. I just have them. Like I just have them in my brain, but you want it to be in the brain. Yes. Yes. And I want everybody else to be able to see my brain. Right. Dangerous. That's that's very intimate. So I can show them. Show them inside your brain. Yeah. There you go. That's all. The brain. Hmm. There it is. And it's free. Except if you want to actually use it, I guess it's not free. It's not free. And it's quite expensive. Or um it has a user form as well. So the the headline of the brain is free is maybe not not the not the right way to lead with okay. Interesting. That's a good user form. I like user forms. And we can expect you to be back on obsidian next week probably or week after? Well I haven't totally given up on Obsidian. I'm kind of I'm kind of running both at the moment. But I don't know. I like the brain. An upcoming app corner may change that for you. Oh okay. Pay attention to the show notes. Um well that's the brain. And I guess the next thing is 3D printing. That's a good segue, right? Brain 3D printing. I think that makes sense. I got a 3D printer. Finally. Wanted one for twenty years, probably. It's that kind of product where you're like, if I wait, they're gonna be like way better next year. And then next year comes and you say, But if I wait, they're gonna be way better next year. And that happened for about 20 years. Yep. And then we got to 2026. I was trolling through uh offer up. You don't have that there, but it's like a it's like a sell your crap kind of marketplacey thing where you can be like, hey, I've got a deck chair for f who wants it for fifty bucks or whatever, right? And it shows you what's around you. So I found one on there. It was an incredible deal. You know I love a deal. I love a good deal. And I chatted with the person, long story short, got it for 350 bucks. Sounds good. I think new it was 900. So good deal. Wow. Impeccable. That has RAM in it, doesn't it? Yeah, it's it's the RAM. It's uh the RAM is $850 and then the printer's $50. Um yeah, so $350, it's the Creality K1 Max. That doesn't really matter. It's just that I got a 3D printer. But I picked it up and it was in perfect condition and it was funny because he had a bunch of uh filament, so like the little string stuff that goes in it to print. And I tallied it up and I basically got three hundred and fifty dollars worth of filament in the deal, and so I pretty much just bought filament and got a free printer, which is weird and bizarre. Wow. But I am so happy having a 3D printer. I've made so many fun things. It is an absolute joy, and I'm so glad that I have one now. And it's now taken me into the land of learning CAD and 3D design. Oh boy. Oh jace. Because that's how you you gotta make stuff, right? You gotta figure out how to make stuff. So now I'm doing that, and that's been a fun experiment. Or not experiment, that's been a fun learning experience. Um high really really steep learning curve for CAD. Like insane. Um, you're like you draw a circle and you're like, Oh, I'm gonna make it a 3D, you know, make extrude that out. Good luck with that. That's that's 45 web searches and 18 videos later, and you're like, oh, that's how you do it. So that's what that's what CAD's about. But that brings me to if you want a CAD software, because there are many out there that want to charge you like $40,000 an hour for their software because it's so great and it's the industry standard and all that crap. I just want to make some dumb crap at my house. I don't, I'm not doing this for a job. FreeCAD, freeCAD.org. Great little CAD program, free, like in the name. So if you want to do CAD or want to learn CAD the Brian. This one's actually free. Yeah, it's not called free brain. It's called Free CAD. So if you want a CAD program or have ever wanted to figure out how to make things in 3D, get free CAD. It's uh free. Just quickly, what I love what you said about the filament, because it seems that 3D printing is exactly the same as regular printing in which like, oh what a great deal. This canon Pixma's only like ten bucks. Aldi special buy. Oh wait, the ink will be like my entire superannuation fund or you know, my my savings. It's the same thing. Yeah. I've never understood w like the point of three D printing. Like it's say you can print out your knowledge network, Andrew. You can print three D print your thoughts and then connect them together. That's the only reason I could say you would use it. I don't s I don't really get why you would want one otherwise. You should make a mind map, Andrew, of all of your favourite thoughts and projects, whether it's from Omni or whatever. Mm-hmm. And then get Jason to help you free cat it. Mm and then you can print it and have it on your desk. These are 3D printed. I w thought that might be the case. Ah, trophy stuff, yep. With wood. It's wood filament somehow. There's wood in it. It's very weird. That is weird. So another hint. So that's three D printing corner. Okay. I'm sure you'll hear more because I'm obsessed with it. I bet we will. Yet another corner in our belt of corners. But it's three D, so it can't you know, it's like where it's like it's a whole cube actually. It's not just one corner anymore. I'm happy for you Jason. Thank you. I can I can hear it in your voice. I look forward to seeing your output. Yeah, I think Jason sometimes hears that we say that we're happy, but he's like, they're Australian, so I don't know if they're actually happy. They're not. He's like, Yeah, yeah, we're alright. And he's just like, you're not happy enough. No, they're not. Just for the listener's sake, trust me, they're not. Yeehaw. Why do you always put him in the south? He always does. It's the only it's the only American accent I can do. I don't know how to do California accent or West Coast. Um maybe I could try. Hang on. Let's try Valley Girl. Oh oh boy. Oh my god. Look at her. Nope. I was just looking right at her oh my what is she thinking? How about App Corner? Definitely think about App Corner. Should we should we go over there? Okay. App Quarter. Uh Capture. Are you are you aware of capture? Is this like the RAW? You're not. No, no, it's not the photo thing. Oh. Right. It is a little front end. I did see this. Yes, I remember seeing this and not doing anything with it. It's a little front end for Obsidian. And it's awesome. You could just do a little keyboard shortcut and you can type a bunch of stuff and hit enter, and it makes a new note, or you can do a different shortcut and have it append or pre-pend to like a daily note or a whatever thing. And it's awesome. It also captures like where you're at, so you can kind of if you have a thought about something while you're on a web page, it can like kind of link that to it so that it's not just Yeah. What was I thinking? Or like what the hell was I contextualize trying to remember when I wrote this down? Yeah, exactly. So really nice little app. I really, really like it. It's been quite nice for Obsidian. I wish I had it on my phone. It'd be great as a phone app to be able to just pop something up and quickly and have that do the same thing. But on the Mac, which is the C superior platform, uh it's fantastic. So sorry, is this kind of like the tot slash drafts of Obsidian? Kind of. Yeah, I I would say that's like an okay reference. Yeah. Thank you. Looks a bit like the omni the omnifocus inbox, uh quick inbox thing that I use all the time. Listeners, I hope you're taking notes in your notes app of choice about how we're describing it. Yeah. Just keep track, alright.? Yeah Yeah, just hit uh hit the hit your keyboard shortcut and pop it right in there. Hmm. So now Andrew will be back in Obsidian next week. We look forward to hearing about that. Yeah, I know. I wonder if there's one for the brain that I there is the the brain does have the brain box, but people seem to complain about it. Um just out of interest, that's interesting just for people's reference, I use um hyper key spacebar to bring up my omnifocus quick entry inbox. I think people will be interested in that, yeah. And hyper key is mapped to uh caps lock. That's what they tune in for. So that's that's what I do. That's what I do. So if I got this in app, I don't know which where I'd bind it because hyper key's already taken. Do you say you map it to caps lock? Yeah. Caps Lock space bar. Oh right, I was gonna say 'cause caps lock like that's actually a useful thing. No, caps lock is not useful. I disable it. I know you've brought that up before, but I'm telling you that I use caps lock sometimes. Not for yelling at people, although people probably think oh here's the foot again yelling at people. I don't yell at it. It's pretty on the nose the the foot would use caps lock. I only use caps lock for things like initialisms and acronyms. I guess it wouldn't be on the nose, it would be on the toe. No, no, I want proper title case, sentence case, you know, I want lowercase letters in there. I don't yell at people. Alright? Yes, exactly. Don't yell at people. So this is the point. Are you hearing me? But you're saying you need caps lock? You actually need caps lock. For certain circumstances. Just hold down the shift key. You're wasting a really good thing I'm gonna reach my just you know, fatigue my pinky finger for extended periods of time. Ridiculous. No, no, no. You need to use this as a hyper key. It's that's where its true value lies. Oh yes, that's a much more sensible option. Yep. I always just kinda wish that shift would be shift and if you double hit shift it would be caps lock. I feel like that should be a thing. Yeah, that would be good. That's how I would do it. And why do we have two shift buttons? I only ever use the left shift key. I never I know it's a I did learn touch typing. I understand you're meant to use the shift key when you're using typing on your left finger. I don't do that. I just use the shift key on the left. What if someone's missing the left pinky? Can I remap my right shift key? Is there an app that can let me do that? Does anybody use the rate shift key? Because then it could be hyper too. How about Martin uses the rate shift key? There's a there would be a certain irony in the fact that no one shifts to using that one. Hmm. Do you use that? The right one? Yeah. No. No. I don't think anyone does. No, it just sits there for decoration. I think it's the most underused key on the keyboard. It's probably the cleanest key on your keyboard. If you if you looked right Funnily enough, it's one of the few that has like specks of dust on it, actually. It's actually the dirtiest because it's underutilized. It has just a coating of dust on it. Yeah, you know this you know how you get this scongy stuff on your keyboard? You guys get the scongy stuff, right? I wash my hands, Andrew. So like I'm looking at my keyboard, it's actually quite disgusting. I try and keep it clean, but clearly. You're right, shift key hasn't worked in two years and you just didn't even know. Like I can tell where I push which part of the return key I push. And it's not the far left of the button because it's not. Do you use the Caps Lock key for a new acronym? That's that's called a WAD. It uh stands for West Australian Detritus. That's what you're dealing with. I push CAPS lock, I push it right where the w writing of CAPS lock is. That big empty space on the right of that of the key that has lots of sconge. Anyway, for anyone who's listening right now, if you happen to be commuting or listening to this and looking a bit strange or chuckling or like bemused or confused, I want you to take your earphones out and tell the person next to you. It could be a total stranger what you're listening to and where they can find Andrew online to learn more. I need to clean this keyboard. This is a quick one from me. I'll do the conversion as well. Yeah, excellent. Can we just a quick one from me? We don't want to carry on with Sponge Corner? No, I'm trying to move on. I'm the podcast shirter and I'm not thank you. Uh next. Flickr, right? People use that. They do. It's a photo site for the uninitiated. Think of it. For years and years. Look, this is a bit of a mixed bag. I love the fact that the website doesn't really change much, right? It's it's reliable, it's the same. They haven't mucked around with the way that metadata and sorting works. I think things could certainly be updated or look a bit fresher or you could have more customization of the look of things on the website. That's another story. But the app, right? This is app corner. For years it's looked the same. It's ignored, you know, shifts and trends in Apple design language or even maybe stuff that's happening on Android, I don't know. But then just this in this last week, since you know, since we've been recording, it's like someone there went, Oh, there's this thing called liquid glass. Lo and behold, app update, Flickr has a totally new look and there's transparency in it. It doesn't totally acknowledge the settings of how you customize that transparency that Apple kind of you know conceded. But I just want to put out there that if anyone thought, wow, does Flickr exist? It does and it has a new look. What a surprise. So this is the iPhone app you're talking about. The iPhone app, yes, the iPhone. Okay, because I immediately went to Flickr.com and was like, this looks still like 1996. Yes, yes, it's the same. But the iPhone app, it's like wow, suddenly there's see-through toolbar or icon bar on the bottom. Got it. Okay. I went to their website and I noticed I hadn't there ages, it looks like a bit of a fever dream because the whole homepage has changed a lot. But so I was like, oh that's different. Maybe that's what Martin's talking about. And then I went to the login page and I was like, ah, there it is. There it is. The uh the mountains trying to log me in. Yeah. I went looking for my Yahoo, my Yahoo account. Yeah. I had to get rid of Flickr because it became Windows, where if you go to Flickr.com, you're like, oh, it's Windows 11. Yeah. I know what you meant. And then you click upload, and you're like, oh, wait, it's Windows 98. And then you click like add photo, and you're like, oh, it's Windows 95. And it just like keeps degrading back to nineteen ninety-four. Yep. And for whatever reason, it won't take my photos that I try to upload anymore. I put them in there and it says air. Oh really? And they're the right size. They're the right si fze physically, like dimensionally and file size doesn't take 'em. It just it'll it'll take like eight out of ten and then the other two it'll just be like, nah. Can't be bothered to take these two. I'm like, okay. Well, your your your sole job as a service is to accept photos and you don't do that. So I don't know. I don't know if anyone else has had that issue. I'm s sorry to hear that. Well, ' Icause don't use it a lot personally. I still have photos there, but I kind of rediscovered my love for it through my paid work because I do, you know, a lot of media, video, photo shoot, communication stuff, and I found that it really is still kind of the best place, assuming it accepts your photos, Jason, as you said. To be like a photo archive. And I found it's just been the best way of hosting this totally open, transparent historical archive for my employer. And people can go in there and see stuff from over a hundred years ago from stuff that's happening in this area of manufacturing and steel making where you know where I where I work in my paid job. So I've loved you know diving back into it and seeing all the options. It's great that those functions are there, but as you say, maybe nice to have a consistent, fresh, new look that inspires confidence. It's just weird to me that like it's changed hands three times now, I think. Because it was Yahoo and then it went no, it was somewhere and then it was Yahoo. And now I think smug mug still owns it. I think. It's the smug mug people, right? Yeah. Yeah, which then was weird because it's like you have smug mug and you have flickr, they're both paid services, they both kind of do the same thing. And I got excited. I was like, ooh, that means that like the smug bug design whatever will like granted I understand like absorbing something like Flickr where there's probably eight trillion lines of code from you know, since the beginning of the internet, you probably can't really do much with that, but it's still the same. There you go. Uh my final app corner is Cheery. C-H-I-R-I. And it is a cross-platform task management app. Are you surprised? You're pushing my buttons. You are pushing my buttons. It runs on CalDav, so everything syncs through CalDav because I got sick of these other ones with their own weird sync stuff. So it's still early being built and I love it. It's incredible. It's such a nice it's very well done. I think it's like one person is working on it. But yeah, just wanna throw that out there. Cheery. It's really nice on the Mac. Once again, the Mac. I can't believe Caldev can support that. Yeah, so you could use your Fastmail as it because f Fastmail supports tasks, even though there's no way to do that with Fastmail, which I thought was very strange that they don't surface that anywhere. But I'm using it with NextCloud, because I'm running a next cloud instance, so I can have caldev push, which works quite nicely. So there you go. Cheery. There we go. Cheerio, as they say. Probably won't get me off omnifocus to be fair, but you know. Nothing would. No. This is not for you. Cool. Ple don't even don't even install it, actually, Andrew. Like it's not for you. Nah, I probably won't be bothered. Media corner. Hang on, Martin. Did you take your note, your time, timestamp? Yeah, I did it. Oh, okay, good. I'm doing it. Don't you worry about me. Thank you. But thank you for the reminder. Martin's editing for me this week. Well yeah. Actually you're right, Andrew. I should mention that quickly. I'm editing this time round where it was your job but I'm very happy to we we've swapped, you've done it flexibly before, 'cause where are you going on holiday? Sh well, should I tell people? Is it safe? Well you're not telling them exactly when and where, like it's a general locale. No. I'm going to Shark Bay. We we need GPS coordinates and timestamps. Yeah, because Shark Bay doesn't inspire confidence for people overseas when they think about Australia, right? No, it doesn't. They'll be petrified, but it's fine. It's fine. Um, it's part of WA that I've not been to before. What I'm most excited about, do you you guys may remember many years ago I went to Xmouth? Yes. Yes. XMATH. How can we forget? Do you remember X Math had two IGAs? I'm not sure if you remember that. Two IGAs? Yeah. One right across from the other. Exactly. So I don't know. I don't I'm I'm gonna check out the IGA situation when I get there and I'll let you know. And you And you have to tell us if you're sitting baby sharks when you're there. Oh I will absolutely. Baby shark. He travels around Western Australia just to let you all know the AGA situation. Yeah, sure you could look at it on maps, but it's not the same. It's not the same as experiencing it in the flesh. No, seeing it through your eyes and through your description is really what makes it for us. Oh, and look, and you know, bec in true WA fashion, this is just a quick holiday. So I'll be driving one one way it's about eight and a half hours to get there. It's a good day trip. So yeah, just a quick trip, but and that will get me about a third of the way up the West Australian coastline. That sounds right. So take that Texas. Just shows how huge this place is for such a small population. Anyway, I should get back to Media Corner, but thank you for letting everyone know we're gonna be on holiday when you can catch up with Andrew. Yeah, yeah. I I'll sign autographs. You can go hang out at the AGA with him? I'll set aside half an hour every day outside the AGA. Sign autographs. Quick recommendation from Media Corner. There's this guy, I think his real name's Darren is the actor, but he plays a character called Gary Starr as this kind of uh he's like a clown, wannabe thespian figure who does things crossing over with mythology and literature and one-man comedy shows. He did this great thing about Greek mythology in a show called Greece Lightning. That was his old show, but Natasha and I recently went to Sydney and it's just finished up in Sydney and he's going to Edinburgh and then New York. So listening if you're going to be anywhere near those places or you reside in those places. It's a show called Gary Star Classic Penguins. If you want to see a comedy show unlike anything else, you need to check this out. I'm gonna I have to give you a little bit of an idea of what this is because you're gonna be in for a shock if you do go with this thing. But I don't want to ruin it. I'm in shock. It's hilarious. Just imagine this guy who's you know, Mr. Literature, Mr. Thespian, but total clown, right? And he goes through in an attempt to, as he says, uh save literature by running through the entire collection or original original collection of classic penguins performing all of those stories or wrapped up in the titles in rapid fire succession, mostly naked. It is brilliant, it is in your face, and there is a level of audience participation that I think most people will not be expecting. Wow. Okay. That is not what I was expecting when I read uh the line item in the notes. I thought it was going to be a documentary about penguins. No, no, no. It's fantastic. And uh look, I just actually there is actually a bit of a penguin documentary segment, I I'll I will say. But I don't want to spoil anything else. But if you do happen to be around Edinburgh, like you know, Fringe Festival and and New York, and you can go and see Gary Starr, classic penguins, check it out in the notes because it is a unique show and uh this man should be applauded for his bravery on a nightly basis. Nice. I'd go watch it. Next up, I don't know how much time we have because we're running out of time, but I think it's been booted a couple of times. I just wanted to know, Jason. You watched the room. What did you think? You're tearing me apart, Lisa! Oh hi, Mark. This is the worst movie in the world. Still need to watch it. It deserves everything it's been given. It's actually the worst. It's it's I told you it was the worst. You could not act as a bad actor, worse than what is being performed in this film. And I use performed so incredibly loosely. It's like a high school play, but worse. Yeah, if people haven't seen this, and we have mentioned it before, it came up a while ago and I was like, oh when when is Jason at least and hopefully Andrew gonna see it? I need to watch it. I think it's different because and there is a movie made about it called The Disaster artist. It's like the room redone as here's the story of what happened. Um I think I think the thing that sets it apart is people know about B grade movies or flops and that sort of stuff, but you know what you're getting. Then they know what they're making. There's no further aspiration or like, oh, we're trying to be something else. This is a movie that I think people thought, oh, I'm going into this as an actor because this is a serious thing. It's it just completely catches you off guard about just how bad it is. So if you haven't watched The Room, or you can ever go to a screening where they throw things like spoons at the screen and scream and carry on, um, it's great. You gotta watch it. The room by Tommy Weiser. Two thousand and three movie. Okay. I've I'm seeing it. Yes. Okay. Yeah, no other rooms, just the room. Dude's face like on the cover, and it's like one of those where it's like written by, directed by, starring, edited by, der like everything by the one guy. That's it. Okay. So really truly awful thing that you have to watch. I I will watch it. I will watch it. You have to. Okay. Okay. It was rough, but I'll finish Media Corner by saying I'm currently watching Cape Fear on Apple TV. I was not enthusiastic about watching this at all. I have a vague memory of the movie, but for the nineteen nineteen ninety-one movie, but only vaguely. And judging by the previews, I was like, this is too creepy and weird for my liking. But it is brilliant. The the cinematography and just the it kind of creates an old timey tension in the way that the TV series has been filmed. I really like it. I can hardly understand what the um Max Cady guy is saying because of his thick accent. I'm sometimes tempted to turn subtitles on, although I've I have resisted. Uh it is very good, I like it, and uh I have also now have an intention to watch both the nineteen ninety-one and nineteen sixty-two films. Nice. So it sent me down a rabbit hole. I encourage you to watch it. Add it to my list. This is a very quick uh public service announcement. PSA shouted in caps lock for those of you who like that key. I just wanted to write or wrong and apologise. Holding down shift for those of you that do that. That's right. On the forum, Rob with uh two B's, congratulations again on your Junebury' sucscess. Uh he noted that we haven't talked about Golden Gay Times on this podcast. I want to apologize if we haven't done that. He should know because I think he went through the whole archive. But I did find it interesting that I searched Golden Gay Time in iMessage History before Jason moved away from iOS. And I think Jason, you said what's the deal co-hosts? And I found some reference from October 2021 where I did in fact mention it to you, Jason. And that's not to say, but it's just in all of the history of hemispheric chat beyond this podcast, there was one minor mention for me of the golden gay time. And I will put it out there, if you haven't had a gay time before and you're outside Australia, it is hard to have a gay time on your own. I forgot what it's ice cream, right? I already forgot what it was. It is. Yeah, with like an external bicky thing to it. Yeah. Okay. Anyway, that's all. Thank you. So so technically it was mentioned within the universe, but not in a public fashion across the the the sound waves. Which explains why it probably didn't filter through with some audio version of surprise. So apologies to listeners, but now you know, go check out Golden Gate Time. I will eat Golden Gate Time, but I don't love 'em I'd have one. No, this this the squishiness of the nut. It's too squ I want to I want a firmer firmer outside coating. I can't help you with that. Alright, Jason. What's happening with Sony? One last final uh PSA. Uh in light of Sony's recent stupid announcement of ending physical discs for the PlayStation in twenty twenty eight So dumb. So dumb I would like to formally announce that as of that same time frame twenty twenty-eight, uh this show, Hemispheric Views, will only be available in physical form from twenty twenty-eight forward. So on the YOTO. Yeah. So we will we will we'll no longer be digital, we will be physical only going forward, and we appreciate you continuing to listen in a physical format as of 2028. Coming to a cassette player near you. Don't know what form, but maybe all of them. We'll see. So Baby shark da baby shark da baby shark Is that how it goes? You sing it with such confidence, Andrew. You gotta brush up before you gotta shark bay. This is how you you drive in, this is what you have to do when you arrive. They just play it there over loudspeakers all day. Three, two, one, stop. Yeah.
