- Sue: I'm reflecting today about travel. The sound of an airplane heading towards Newark Airport over my head. In the context of now, while I do walk outside from the house with my dog several times a day into the woods, once week, once every couple weeks, go to the post office, drive into the village. I basically don't travel away from the house in the way that I used to. Husband was alive. We had ourselves the the lunch club, which was our language for us going out to lunch every day. And that was main our main meal for the day and it was an opportunity to take a break during my work day and socialize with him. And it was always a feature of our relationship as it pertained to others, is that they knew us as being regulars for going out. But it was still local, like a ten mile radius from the house, places that we check check out, or became regulars. And that was also a feature because my husband, who emigrated here from Wales, had done a lot of traveling in his previous lifetime with his second and first wives, so much so that when he came here to the United States, he just was very happy to not get on another airplane ever. And while we did a couple of road trips in the car, for the most part he didn't want to spend r time with relatives on holidays and so respecting his wishes to not travel, we were pretty local. But because of the lunch club, in my eyes, we were still getting out and socializing and seeing kind of new experiences every day. So when we became destitute at the end of the pandemic, thanks to losing my job, he would start talking about how much he felt like he was in a prison, that he couldn't go anywhere. And of course this was his health failing already, and realizing that whatever he thought he wanted to do in terms of traveling, he wasn't able to do it, and felt, although most of his health problems were The result of self infliction, he felt nonetheless imprisoned. And fast forward to today, over four years after his death, I don't as I said, I don't travel a lot because financially, I no longer have the cash to do so. And you know, and occasionally when there's a significant life event with a family member, I'll make certain that I'm present. But it's also the idea that paying for such travel on a credit card and then not having the means to pay back make the payments is I'm not gonna do that. And yet I don't feel imprisoned, mainly for the fact that since I make time to record my utterances, my mundane monologue, as you're listening to now, and posting it on my website and YouTube, I'm connecting with people in parts of the world that I might not ever meet in person. I'm grateful that you're listening to this. Hello. Welcome. But it's a mindset that has made a huge impact on my day to day because sometimes when you travel you don't fully have an engaging time in your life. What I recognize now of no longer being able to financially afford to pay for lunch every day, for example, is that the ability to express myself is the freedom that keeps me feeling free, not imprisoned. Even in the minor exchange of energy that we're sharing today, with you listening and me speaking, still is a connection for which I'm grateful. Do I miss having the opportunity to go out and have lunch every day? Sure. You know, it was a social thing for Gareth and myself. It was a chance to engage with one another with a new environment temporarily. And that always is a wonderful experience because it helps shake things up in your mind and give you new motivations and inspiration. Do I miss it for the sake of feeling alone? No, not at all. Do I miss the power of feeling that by being able to afford to pay to do that each and every day? No. That's a trap. But it is quite an adjustment when I look at the fact that right now, you know, I just simply can't afford the money to travel. I don't view it as a lack, I just view it as fact. That the compensation for not traveling is by being able to engage by creating this content. I appreciate that. My making this content does more for me than probably what you get out of listening it listening to it or watching the YouTube videos. But that's okay. If you've listened to any of my other blog posts, I do it for a personal journal and Whether you like it or listen to the content or engage with it, whatever you choose to do is fine. I appreciate when you do engage and sh leave a comment, but I'm not doing it for the dopamine fix. Would I like to travel again? Yeah, 'cause that would mean I'd be making a proper income. So absolutely, I'd love to travel. Maybe I'll come visit one of you. Or make a tour and visit as many of you on the trek as we can manage. And here's the question You, the listener, the watcher, what is the one top super bestest place I should definitely visit if I were coming to your home country you live? Because I think it's time for me to start making a list of destinations so that as I manifest more wealth and income. I've got some pinpointed targets, so let me know. What should I see if I came to your part of the world if I had only a couple of days? ⁓ and what's your favorite food that I should make a point to eat as well? Because after all, if I'm travelling, I'm gonna want to have the lunch club back in functioning. And to honor my husband, who would be seventy later this month if he had lived? He was a vegetarian. He ate dairy and eggs for protein, so what foods should I eat that are vegetarian? when I come visit you. I believe very strongly in the power of positive thinking, of visualizing the life that you as you see yourself living, if not currently. So your engagement on telling me where I should visit that's local to you and the foods I should eat that are local to you will help me build that visualization board and make it happen. So if you don't want me coming to visit you, by all means. Don't comment. And I don't mean that as a as a given or a threat. I'm just making the comment that I'm just having some fun so that I can get myself back on the traveling circuit. And don't worry if you think I've been to your town before. I'd just like to know what you would show off to a visitor. I kind of feel like I can head off in every direction. I'd be grateful to have your input. Knowing full well that my plans are fluid for length of time and distance. What should I see and eat when I come visit you? Domestic or international travel? Doesn't matter. Traveling by car, mass transit, doesn't matter. I'll get there eventually. If you feel that your suggestions aren't significant, well, you're wrong. Where do I where do I start my trip first? Let me know. In the meantime, thanks for listening. I appreciate you.
