- 1:27SPEAKER_03: I'm your host, Chris Hardzuck with Big Dog Construction, your local window depot, and I'm excited to have you here with us today.
- 1:33SPEAKER_03: Hey, this podcast is much more than construction.
- 1:36SPEAKER_03: It's about the people who are designing and building businesses, families, communities, and lives right here in the Midwest and a little beyond.
- 1:43SPEAKER_03: And today we have a really special conversation because we're going to take that idea of designing and building and apply it to something every single one of us has in common, our own life.
- 1:53SPEAKER_03: Our guest today is April Hayes, founder of Sovereign Transitions.
- 1:57SPEAKER_03: And she recently became a 10x certified business coach for Grant Cardone.
- 2:01SPEAKER_03: Hey, April, welcome to the show.
- 2:04SPEAKER_08: Hi, Chris.
- 2:05SPEAKER_08: How are you?
- 2:05SPEAKER_08: Thank you for having me.
- 2:07SPEAKER_03: Doing great.
- 2:07SPEAKER_03: We're glad to have you here today.
- 2:09SPEAKER_03: And I think it's going to be a great conversation because we're going to talk about who you are, how you got here, and what you've learned along the way, and how you actually designed and built the life you're living today.
- 2:20SPEAKER_03: But first, I need to pay a few bills.
- 2:22SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 2:22SPEAKER_03: Hey, before we get into this conversation, let's take a minute to thank and recognize our 10x partner.
- 2:27SPEAKER_03: And when it comes to protecting your home, one of the most important investments you can make is making sure your roof and exterior are doing their job.
- 2:35SPEAKER_03: That's why we want to give a shout out to Elite Roofing Professionals.
- 2:38SPEAKER_03: They handle roofing, guttering, gutter guards, and siding projects.
- 2:41SPEAKER_03: And they're one of the trusted 10x partners that we have here on Designing and Building the Midwest Podcast.
- 2:47SPEAKER_03: Hey, if you've got a project coming up, or if you simply want somebody to take a look at your roof and make sure you're protected, give elite roofing professionals a call at 217-851-3836 or visit them on that beautiful interweb at Eliteroofing Professionals.com.
- 3:03SPEAKER_03: Elite Roofing Professionals, when quality counts, they're on top of it.
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: So thanks, April, for letting me pay a few bills.
- 3:09SPEAKER_03: And we're going to go to a segment we like to call the big dog bite.
- 3:12SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 3:13SPEAKER_03: So here today is the big dog bite.
- 3:15SPEAKER_03: You don't accidentally build the life you want.
- 3:17SPEAKER_03: You have to design it, right?
- 3:19SPEAKER_03: Think about that for a minute.
- 3:21SPEAKER_03: You don't accidentally build the life you want.
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: You have to design it.
- 3:24SPEAKER_03: So when we build a house, we just don't show up one day with a pile of lumber and say, hey, let's see what happens.
- 3:30SPEAKER_03: We start with a vision, then we create a plan, then we build it.
- 3:34SPEAKER_03: And yet, so many people approach their lives completely different.
- 3:37SPEAKER_03: They react, they respond, they go from one thing to the next.
- 3:41SPEAKER_03: And years later, they look around and realize they built a life, but maybe not necessarily the life they intended to build.
- 3:47SPEAKER_03: So today we're going to talk about what happens when you become intentional about designing your life.
- 3:53SPEAKER_03: And April, that's really where I want to start.
- 3:56SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 3:57SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: So April, for somebody listening who doesn't know you, let's start at the beginning.
- 4:02SPEAKER_03: Who is April Hayes?
- 4:03SPEAKER_03: Tell us a little about yourself, your background, your story, and what brought you to where you are today.
- 4:08SPEAKER_08: Okay, great.
- 4:09SPEAKER_08: So my name is April, and my company name is Sovereign Transition.
- 4:13SPEAKER_08: Recently I put that together as a result of taking me back in time.
- 4:18SPEAKER_08: I had a 28-year corporate career in real estate.
- 4:21SPEAKER_08: I was a director of real estate.
- 4:23SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 4:24SPEAKER_08: And I opened thousands of stores across North America and Canada.
- 4:27SPEAKER_08: And all the while I was always searching within my own being, like, there's something more.
- 4:32SPEAKER_08: I want to understand life, like who I am, what I'm here for.
- 4:36SPEAKER_08: So that led me into a lot of different paths with personal development, personal growth.
- 4:42SPEAKER_08: I got my master's in metaphysics.
- 4:44SPEAKER_08: I also am a certified hypnotherapist.
- 4:47SPEAKER_08: And then I went through after my job had ended a few years ago, just three years ago, then my my marriage had also ended at 14 years.
- 4:57SPEAKER_08: And then sorry to hear that.
- 4:58SPEAKER_03: Understand.
- 4:59SPEAKER_08: Thank you.
- 5:00SPEAKER_08: And so huge transit transitions in life, right?
- 5:04SPEAKER_08: We all go through that.
- 5:05SPEAKER_08: Definitely.
- 5:05SPEAKER_03: Definitely.
- 5:06SPEAKER_08: It's definitely how we go through them.
- 5:08SPEAKER_08: And what I chose, the path I chose, is I chose me and personal development.
- 5:13SPEAKER_08: And then I got with a mentor for a couple of years, um, like Bob Proctor, learning what the mind is.
- 5:19SPEAKER_08: And my work in hypnotherapy brought that sort of together for me in the understanding of what the mind is, right?
- 5:27SPEAKER_08: And the power that we can have over and master our own minds.
- 5:31SPEAKER_08: And then from there, I wanted to take it to another level and I wanted to step out and build my own business.
- 5:37SPEAKER_08: So then I got with Grant Cardone and became a business coach and then got certified recently.
- 5:43SPEAKER_03: Excellent.
- 5:44SPEAKER_03: So on that, and and we'll expand upon upon a few things with that.
- 5:48SPEAKER_03: Where did you grow up?
- 5:49SPEAKER_08: So I I live, I grew up in Pittsburgh.
- 5:53SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 5:53SPEAKER_03: Awesome.
- 5:54SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 5:54SPEAKER_08: Traveled around quite a bit.
- 5:56SPEAKER_03: Are you still in Pittsburgh?
- 5:57SPEAKER_08: I'm still in Pittsburgh now.
- 5:58SPEAKER_03: Oh, look at that.
- 5:59SPEAKER_03: That's awesome.
- 6:00SPEAKER_03: That's awesome.
- 6:01SPEAKER_03: So, what did you originally think you were going to do with your life prior to the real estate corporate gig?
- 6:07SPEAKER_08: Prior to that, well, gosh, I was with real estate in real estate for 28 years, which is still a part, and that's what attracted me actually to grants materials.
- 6:15SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 6:16SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 6:16SPEAKER_08: For sure.
- 6:17SPEAKER_08: But what I I didn't know at the time.
- 6:19SPEAKER_08: I mean, I was like, you know, coming out of college.
- 6:22SPEAKER_03: So how did you get from college into the real estate corporate world?
- 6:26SPEAKER_08: I got in the brokerage side of the business.
- 6:29SPEAKER_08: So my mom is a broker in the Pittsburgh market.
- 6:33SPEAKER_08: And then her and another friend had put together a business together.
- 6:37SPEAKER_08: And I started there with a little bit of internship.
- 6:40SPEAKER_08: And then I got hired right away at a big global health food chain based in Pittsburgh.
- 6:45SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 6:46SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 6:46SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 6:47SPEAKER_03: What experiences do you think shaped your life the most?
- 6:50SPEAKER_08: Well, through the years, understanding business, I've worked with I started out working with franchise owners and and and corporate as well in the business and seeing them not understanding, but but me having my expertise at the time and what I did.
- 7:08SPEAKER_08: So that really helped me because I like to help other people.
- 7:11SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 7:12SPEAKER_08: And then it's and then it's understanding.
- 7:14SPEAKER_08: Like as I've come through and where I am now, I've gone to several of say, like the business summit, the real estate summit, the marketing summit with Grant Cardone.
- 7:24SPEAKER_08: And what I've noticed in these rooms, it's the same common thread, is it's all starts in the mind with our thoughts and what we're thinking.
- 7:34SPEAKER_03: Mindset shift.
- 7:36SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 7:36SPEAKER_08: And I'm a I'm a 10x business coach.
- 7:39SPEAKER_08: Yes, but um, the thing that I actually do is not strategy.
- 7:43SPEAKER_03: What do you do?
- 7:44SPEAKER_08: It is uh pattern exposure.
- 7:46SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 7:47SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 7:48SPEAKER_03: Explain that a little bit about pattern exposure.
- 7:50SPEAKER_08: So most people think that they have a strategy problem and they almost never do.
- 7:56SPEAKER_08: They have a pattern problem that that's underlying that.
- 8:00SPEAKER_08: And I can't fix that pattern, but what I can do is I can name it.
- 8:04SPEAKER_03: Gotcha.
- 8:05SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 8:06SPEAKER_03: And when you name it, what happens then?
- 8:08SPEAKER_08: When I name it, something shifts within them.
- 8:11SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 8:11SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 8:12SPEAKER_08: And and then it's them taking the action.
- 8:14SPEAKER_03: So did you find at some point that you had a pattern and who helped you find that pattern and name yours?
- 8:21SPEAKER_03: Was that Bob Proctor or someone else or self-discovered?
- 8:25SPEAKER_08: I think more self-discovered.
- 8:26SPEAKER_08: And then I also, you know, I think it's so important that people invest in themselves because we we are the creators of our own lives.
- 8:34SPEAKER_03: Right, right.
- 8:36SPEAKER_08: And being a sovereign being here, living on this physical in the or on the earth among the people, is how do we express ourselves, understanding who we are?
- 8:47SPEAKER_08: Because I think there's a lot of confusion there because we have a lot within us and we get locked in to certain ideas, certain ways of thinking, right.
- 8:57SPEAKER_08: Based on the culture, maybe based on the places where we've lived.
- 9:01SPEAKER_03: And the patterns, right?
- 9:02SPEAKER_08: That's the patterns, yes, the television, social media, all of that that influences us.
- 9:10SPEAKER_03: Exact influence, key word there, right?
- 9:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 9:12SPEAKER_03: Very key word.
- 9:14SPEAKER_03: Definitely.
- 9:15SPEAKER_03: So who was the most influential people along the way for you?
- 9:19SPEAKER_03: I know you mentioned Bob Proctor.
- 9:21SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 9:21SPEAKER_03: But was your mother one of them?
- 9:23SPEAKER_03: And she helped you start on that career path.
- 9:25SPEAKER_08: Oh, my mother, yeah.
- 9:26SPEAKER_08: Definitely.
- 9:27SPEAKER_08: In a sense of, yeah, she she helped start me on the career path.
- 9:31SPEAKER_08: Yes, absolutely.
- 9:32SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 9:32SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 9:32SPEAKER_08: And just her being that beingness of her.
- 9:36SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 9:37SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 9:37SPEAKER_08: You know, of mamas.
- 9:38SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 9:39SPEAKER_03: And is she still with us?
- 9:40SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 9:41SPEAKER_08: Absolutely.
- 9:41SPEAKER_03: Great.
- 9:42SPEAKER_03: That's awesome.
- 9:42SPEAKER_03: I just want I want to make sure and kind of check on that.
- 9:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 9:46SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 9:46SPEAKER_08: She's solid through and through.
- 9:48SPEAKER_08: I mean, always there.
- 9:49SPEAKER_03: Is she still a broker?
- 9:51SPEAKER_08: She is.
- 9:51SPEAKER_08: She has her license.
- 9:52SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 9:52SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 9:53SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 9:53SPEAKER_03: Great.
- 9:54SPEAKER_03: Do you guys do anything together in the real estate realm still or not?
- 9:58SPEAKER_08: We haven't.
- 9:58SPEAKER_08: She's not real active.
- 9:59SPEAKER_08: She's just held her license now.
- 10:01SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 10:02SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 10:02SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 10:03SPEAKER_03: Gotcha.
- 10:03SPEAKER_03: Hey, was there a certain point in your life where you realized you wanted something more?
- 10:10SPEAKER_03: I know you mentioned that in your brief description of who you were, but was do you know exactly at that point, or you just had this longing inside of you, like, ah, there's just something?
- 10:19SPEAKER_08: I'll tell you, when I was working, I loved what I did.
- 10:22SPEAKER_08: I was passionate about it, but I did work there for 28 years.
- 10:25SPEAKER_08: And I probably stayed an extra 10 too long.
- 10:29SPEAKER_08: So there's a pattern there, right?
- 10:31SPEAKER_08: Exposure, like of staying perceived safe based on okay, when you grow up, you go to college, you get a good job, and you stay there because you're making good money.
- 10:42SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 10:42SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 10:43SPEAKER_08: So that fear of leaving it.
- 10:46SPEAKER_08: And then I got married, and then I had my three children, my friends.
- 10:51SPEAKER_03: Awesome.
- 10:52SPEAKER_03: Awesome.
- 10:52SPEAKER_03: And what it really means, let's give them a little shout out.
- 10:54SPEAKER_08: Sure.
- 10:55SPEAKER_08: Isaiah, who's 14, Ava, who's his 12, and Ty, who's 10.
- 11:01SPEAKER_03: Which I met, I met your oldest.
- 11:03SPEAKER_08: Yeah, you met my oldest.
- 11:04SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 11:04SPEAKER_03: Yes, at the business summit.
- 11:05SPEAKER_03: That was awesome.
- 11:06SPEAKER_03: And he he actually got to talk to Grant, which was even more awesome.
- 11:09SPEAKER_03: I was ready to hand up a hundred dollar bill for him to come get it to start his trip to a million.
- 11:15SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 11:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 11:16SPEAKER_03: No, that's awesome.
- 11:18SPEAKER_03: So looking back, were there moments that seemed like setbacks to you in your life, but actually moved you in a better direction?
- 11:25SPEAKER_08: Well, for me, and that's why my passion is to help millions of people just move through this a lot quicker instead of staying in the same pattern, right?
- 11:34SPEAKER_08: The same job.
- 11:36SPEAKER_03: Would we say that pattern is a rut also?
- 11:39SPEAKER_08: You know, it's a rut, also, yes.
- 11:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they're in a rut that they just like, I can't get out of it.
- 11:44SPEAKER_03: And you've identified it as a pattern.
- 11:46SPEAKER_03: It's that pattern of doing the same thing.
- 11:48SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 11:49SPEAKER_03: And in the world of Grant Cardone, that's normal action.
- 11:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:53SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 11:53SPEAKER_03: The four levels of action, none, retreat, normal, and massive.
- 11:56SPEAKER_03: And people think they're in a rut.
- 11:58SPEAKER_03: They're doing normal action.
- 11:59SPEAKER_03: So okay.
- 12:01SPEAKER_03: So was there a specific time though that you felt a setback that was actually moving you forward that you may not have known it was moving you forward in a better direction at the time until you look back on it?
- 12:11SPEAKER_08: Well, when I felt like I was living Groundhog Day over and over again.
- 12:16SPEAKER_03: I remember you talking about that before to us.
- 12:18SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 12:19SPEAKER_08: With you, yeah.
- 12:20SPEAKER_08: And then it was like, well, how do I get out of here?
- 12:22SPEAKER_08: How do I get out of this?
- 12:23SPEAKER_08: Like I'm doing the same thing.
- 12:25SPEAKER_08: And I know with my knowledge of all my study over the years, that I know that I I am in control of this and I need to change.
- 12:34SPEAKER_08: So how do I make this change?
- 12:36SPEAKER_08: What is real?
- 12:37SPEAKER_08: What is not real?
- 12:38SPEAKER_08: And when I separated what was real and what wasn't real, and I'm looking at it and identifying it and naming it, then I had clarity and then I was able to move forward.
- 12:50SPEAKER_03: Was that about three years ago or later?
- 12:52SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that was probably about three years ago.
- 12:55SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 12:55SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 12:56SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 12:56SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 12:57SPEAKER_03: And I I think that's something people can really relate to, like you what you were just talking about, right?
- 13:01SPEAKER_03: That groundhog day, right?
- 13:02SPEAKER_03: Which is the rut, the pattern.
- 13:04SPEAKER_03: Um, because when you're in the middle of a difficult season in your life, you don't always understand what it's preparing you for.
- 13:10SPEAKER_03: Some people just get bogged down by it and they don't know how to get out from under it.
- 13:15SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 13:15SPEAKER_03: Sometimes you can only see the value of the experience when you look back.
- 13:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:19SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 13:20SPEAKER_03: And, you know, and and Grant Cardone taught his 13 rules of success.
- 13:24SPEAKER_03: Number 10 on that is always move forward.
- 13:26SPEAKER_03: It doesn't mean we're not looking back, but we're always going to constantly move forward and just reflect a little bit on the back and and not repeat those mistakes, right?
- 13:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:35SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 13:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:36SPEAKER_03: Well, awesome.
- 13:37SPEAKER_03: Well, this is really where I want to dig in a little bit on, and some of it might be a little repeat or not, but we'll dig a little deeper.
- 13:43SPEAKER_03: April, how did you design and build your own life?
- 13:46SPEAKER_03: Because I think that's a powerful question.
- 13:48SPEAKER_03: Most people can tell you what they don't want, but can they actually tell you what they do want?
- 13:53SPEAKER_03: And what does life you want actually look like?
- 13:56SPEAKER_03: So back to how did you design and build your own life?
- 13:59SPEAKER_03: And it sounds like, did you really just maybe just recently start designing and building it?
- 14:04SPEAKER_08: Yeah, truly.
- 14:06SPEAKER_08: I mean, I'm just starting with designing my, I mean, I've been the last three years like creating.
- 14:11SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 14:12SPEAKER_08: I'm like, because I'll tell you, there's a thought that it's like be careful what you wish for.
- 14:15SPEAKER_08: I don't know if you've ever heard that, right?
- 14:18SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 14:18SPEAKER_08: And I never dreamt big until I started to get into personal development with Bob Proctor's stuff and my mentor at the time, Kim Calvert, who was very close with Bob.
- 14:29SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 14:29SPEAKER_03: And that was just within the last three years.
- 14:31SPEAKER_08: That was, yeah.
- 14:32SPEAKER_08: That was within the last three years.
- 14:34SPEAKER_08: I mean, it was just last year that I I stopped working with her and then I got in with Grant and you know right.
- 14:39SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 14:39SPEAKER_08: So it and then designing my life.
- 14:42SPEAKER_08: But it's like I always innately knew things because of what I I guess I wanted because it's always within us.
- 14:48SPEAKER_08: And when I did get married and had my three beautiful children, I had them all like I knew innately, I had them um birth, each of them in our own home.
- 15:00SPEAKER_04: That's awesome.
- 15:01SPEAKER_08: I didn't have any of the vaccinations and other things, and just that knowing.
- 15:07SPEAKER_08: So we have that knowing piece, and then we have that doing piece.
- 15:10SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 15:11SPEAKER_08: And it's it's understanding like who we are.
- 15:14SPEAKER_08: And I was on always on a search for that.
- 15:16SPEAKER_08: So I would say in the last three years is when I just started to begin to like, this is it.
- 15:22SPEAKER_08: There was no way I was going back into a corporate world.
- 15:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:25SPEAKER_08: So I couldn't do it.
- 15:27SPEAKER_03: I I you're like, no, I'll pull my hair out first, right?
- 15:30SPEAKER_03: Did you actually sit down and define what you wanted?
- 15:33SPEAKER_08: Did I actually sit down and define what I wanted?
- 15:35SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I wrote out a lot.
- 15:37SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:38SPEAKER_08: I'm so happy and grateful.
- 15:39SPEAKER_08: I I have my my targets, my goals.
- 15:42SPEAKER_08: The last three years I've worked on that.
- 15:44SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 15:44SPEAKER_03: So how in how important was having a clear vision for you?
- 15:47SPEAKER_08: Incredibly important.
- 15:48SPEAKER_08: And then it's working up to because there's this underlying that every one of us has is that feeling of unworthiness.
- 15:55SPEAKER_08: And it's like moving through that and it's building blocks.
- 15:58SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 15:59SPEAKER_08: And as you as you understand more of who you are, who we are, who I am.
- 16:05unknown: Right.
- 16:06SPEAKER_08: I understood who I was.
- 16:08SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 16:08SPEAKER_08: Then I I got more confidence and knowing.
- 16:11SPEAKER_08: And then taking the next step forward and the next step forward and the next step forward.
- 16:15SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 16:16SPEAKER_03: How did you determine what needed to change?
- 16:19SPEAKER_08: Well, I felt very frustrated at the time.
- 16:23SPEAKER_08: Uh I'll just say in my marriage, and nothing was I was doing the things that I was changing as much as I could.
- 16:29SPEAKER_03: But I felt resistance.
- 16:30SPEAKER_08: And it wasn't changing anything.
- 16:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:32SPEAKER_08: So I could do so much.
- 16:34SPEAKER_08: So I grew out of that relationship.
- 16:36SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 16:37SPEAKER_08: And then and and so that's how it did how it happened.
- 16:40SPEAKER_03: So did you grow out of it or beyond it?
- 16:42SPEAKER_08: Out of it and beyond it for sure.
- 16:44SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 16:44SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 16:45SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 16:45SPEAKER_03: I I can I can personally relate to that.
- 16:48SPEAKER_03: My first marriage ended after about 14 years.
- 16:51SPEAKER_03: And it was a similar journey like yours.
- 16:54SPEAKER_03: I was I was self-discovering and I knew that there was more to give, right?
- 17:00SPEAKER_03: Um, I was just in my 30s, right?
- 17:02SPEAKER_03: Late 30s.
- 17:02SPEAKER_03: I was like, there's more to give, there's more that I want to do for my family as a whole unit.
- 17:07SPEAKER_03: And it just felt like my partner was just just, I had never, I'd always joked about when you heard the expression, the old ball and chain, right?
- 17:15SPEAKER_03: And and it was at an aha moment.
- 17:17SPEAKER_03: I was at an event, self-discovering, and I was like, when I got home, I felt the anchor that it was holding me and what I could accomplish for our family back.
- 17:28SPEAKER_03: And that's when I had the open conversations about, you know, my partner had plateaued and and they were happy where they were.
- 17:35SPEAKER_03: They didn't want to go any further.
- 17:36SPEAKER_03: I'm like, there's more.
- 17:38SPEAKER_03: There's more.
- 17:38SPEAKER_03: And that's when I realized kind of similar it sounds like with you.
- 17:41SPEAKER_03: So did you have to eliminate things, relationships, obviously marriage, but were there other relationships or habits or beliefs that were holding you back?
- 17:49SPEAKER_08: Oh, sure.
- 17:50SPEAKER_08: I went within and did the work on myself and just stayed focused when other people were looking like, you know, you're spending that kind of money, you know.
- 17:59SPEAKER_08: Okay, what do you what are you getting from it?
- 18:01SPEAKER_08: You know?
- 18:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:03SPEAKER_03: They they they don't understand the clarity that we are giving ourselves and how much we are growing internally, which is gonna make even being around them better for them.
- 18:13SPEAKER_03: They just don't know it.
- 18:14SPEAKER_03: And they can't can't see the forest because of the trees in the way.
- 18:17SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 18:18SPEAKER_03: That old expression, right?
- 18:19SPEAKER_08: And as a result, um my my relationships have gotten stronger.
- 18:23SPEAKER_03: Great.
- 18:24SPEAKER_03: Well, Grant does my my yeah, my my grant tells us that you know, we become a product of the five to six closest people we are surrounded surround ourselves with.
- 18:33SPEAKER_04: Yes, right?
- 18:34SPEAKER_03: And so if they're negative, we kind of get become that negative.
- 18:37SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 18:38SPEAKER_03: And it's just draining sometimes.
- 18:40SPEAKER_03: And and it's hard to eliminate, you know, people that have been in our lives for a long time or forever.
- 18:45SPEAKER_03: It really has.
- 18:46SPEAKER_03: I've had mentees that have told me on our some of our sessions that, you know, I've cut ties with my mother because she's so negative.
- 18:53SPEAKER_03: And when I talk to her, she doesn't understand where I'm heading, even though I try to explain the best way I can, and I've had to cut them out from my life because they were holding me back.
- 19:02SPEAKER_03: And that's hard for someone to say that, right?
- 19:04SPEAKER_03: Their own mother.
- 19:04SPEAKER_03: You have a great relationship with your mother.
- 19:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 19:06SPEAKER_03: And and that would be hard if your mother was in that, but you haven't experienced that.
- 19:10SPEAKER_03: So I'm gonna shift a little bit from from that.
- 19:13SPEAKER_03: How did you deal with fear or did you have fear making you needed to or knowing you had to make these changes?
- 19:19SPEAKER_08: Well, I think I I had I had well, there was fear for sure.
- 19:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 19:24SPEAKER_08: But I I asked myself, what is real from what is not real?
- 19:28SPEAKER_08: And when I looked at what was real, it's like, wait a minute.
- 19:31SPEAKER_03: I I you know real fear versus in your head fear.
- 19:34SPEAKER_03: Is that what you mean by that?
- 19:35SPEAKER_08: Exactly.
- 19:35SPEAKER_08: Yeah, okay.
- 19:36SPEAKER_08: Yeah, like, well, well, no, not exactly.
- 19:39SPEAKER_08: Like the fear that's in your head versus what is real.
- 19:43SPEAKER_08: And the realness is not it, it's just it's just facts.
- 19:46SPEAKER_08: It's like, okay, you've always supported yourself.
- 19:49SPEAKER_08: You didn't get married until you were 39 years old.
- 19:52SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 19:52SPEAKER_08: Um, you it's not about financial, it's not about these other things.
- 19:57SPEAKER_08: It's it's more of the emotional part of it.
- 19:59SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 20:00SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 20:00SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 20:01SPEAKER_03: So what role what role did discipline play into where you came from three years ago to where you are today?
- 20:08SPEAKER_08: Just where I am and the and the investments I've made in myself and my business.
- 20:12SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 20:12SPEAKER_03: So discipline was a very key role in that?
- 20:14SPEAKER_08: Discipline is a very key role, yes.
- 20:16SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 20:17SPEAKER_08: You can't look away.
- 20:18SPEAKER_08: You gotta, you gotta stay focused.
- 20:20SPEAKER_08: Discipline.
- 20:21SPEAKER_08: Have you not and I'm not perfect.
- 20:23SPEAKER_08: I'm not perfect.
- 20:25SPEAKER_08: I'm not by far.
- 20:28SPEAKER_03: So in the past three years, because it sounds like three years is where that pivotal change really happened.
- 20:33SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 20:34SPEAKER_03: Have you had any failures or setbacks in that period?
- 20:37SPEAKER_03: And if so, how did you handle them?
- 20:39SPEAKER_08: Well, I'll tell you, just struggling with uh putting putting putting myself out there on social media as an example.
- 20:45SPEAKER_03: We've talked about that, yes.
- 20:46SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:47SPEAKER_08: And yeah, and that's that's one of the reasons.
- 20:50SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I reached out.
- 20:52SPEAKER_08: I mean, being real is like to be out there, you know?
- 20:55SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 20:55SPEAKER_08: So that was one of the challenges that I had, um, and I'm overcoming.
- 21:00SPEAKER_03: And that that you're overcoming, you're still overcoming, correct?
- 21:03SPEAKER_08: Well, I would say that I think we're always like growing growing and moving through things.
- 21:11SPEAKER_08: I mean, you know, yeah.
- 21:12SPEAKER_03: I I agree.
- 21:13SPEAKER_03: Well, here's something I think is really important.
- 21:16SPEAKER_03: There's a there's a difference between wanting change and actually changing.
- 21:20SPEAKER_03: And everybody wants something better, but wanting it isn't enough.
- 21:24SPEAKER_03: At some point, you've got to make a decision, you've got to take action, and you've got to be willing to do something differently, right?
- 21:31SPEAKER_03: Because otherwise, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.
- 21:37SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 21:37SPEAKER_08: When I learned that, I was like, yeah.
- 21:39SPEAKER_03: Albert Einstein's like, oh my gosh, yeah.
- 21:41SPEAKER_03: He he's a genius for a reason, right?
- 21:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 21:44SPEAKER_03: So was there a moment where you realize nobody else is coming to do this for me?
- 21:49SPEAKER_03: I've got to take ownership of my own life.
- 21:51SPEAKER_03: What did that realization change for you?
- 21:54SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I'm in it.
- 21:55SPEAKER_03: You're in it.
- 21:55SPEAKER_03: You're you're still in it.
- 21:56SPEAKER_03: I'm in it.
- 21:57SPEAKER_03: I'm in it.
- 21:58SPEAKER_08: It's me.
- 21:59SPEAKER_08: It's me.
- 22:00SPEAKER_08: Me, my kids, yeah.
- 22:01SPEAKER_08: I gotta make it happen.
- 22:03SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 22:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because th your three kids are are relying on you.
- 22:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, absolutely.
- 22:08SPEAKER_03: And I I know after meeting uh your oldest son Isaiah that you guys so that he truly looks up to you.
- 22:14SPEAKER_03: And that was a m that was great and amazing.
- 22:16SPEAKER_03: I always am amazed and proud of the parents that bring their their children to Grant Cardone's business summits or easy events, right?
- 22:23SPEAKER_03: So he was at the real estate summit with you too, wasn't he?
- 22:25SPEAKER_08: He was, yeah.
- 22:26SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 22:27SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 22:28SPEAKER_03: So transitioning a little bit, not sovereignly, but transitioning a little bit.
- 22:32SPEAKER_03: So from life experience to sovereign transitions, right?
- 22:35SPEAKER_03: So let's talk about the business you've built, sovereign transitions.
- 22:39SPEAKER_03: That's a powerful name.
- 22:41SPEAKER_03: So what does sovereign transition mean and why did you choose that name?
- 22:45SPEAKER_08: Sov sovereignty, our sovereign beings.
- 22:48SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 22:48SPEAKER_08: Because we are we are not people, just people.
- 22:52SPEAKER_08: We're in a physical form.
- 22:54SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 22:54SPEAKER_08: The sovereignness is understanding who you truly are.
- 22:59SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 22:59SPEAKER_08: And that connection to God.
- 23:02SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 23:03SPEAKER_08: Not being religious here, but to a higher.
- 23:05SPEAKER_03: Oh no, we're that's my our my podcast, we talk about whatever we want.
- 23:10SPEAKER_03: And I'm a religious person.
- 23:11SPEAKER_03: I don't get on my soapbox and preach it from the high heavens, but I can have conversations and talk about my beliefs all day long as well.
- 23:18SPEAKER_03: So I I'm with you.
- 23:20SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:21SPEAKER_08: So everything I've done in my life, it wasn't just me.
- 23:24SPEAKER_08: God, of course, was involved.
- 23:25SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 23:26SPEAKER_08: You know, it's it and that's and tapping into that and that power of of God is incredible.
- 23:32SPEAKER_08: And that's where we build our faith.
- 23:34SPEAKER_08: And I I feel like I've been carried this this whole time in that sense of there's an there's an inner knowing that everything, everything is gonna be okay, and it is okay.
- 23:46SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 23:46SPEAKER_03: I'm a firm believer that God has a path and a plan for everyone.
- 23:50SPEAKER_03: Yes, and that from the day we're born, he he knows his path and our purpose for being here.
- 23:55SPEAKER_03: And sometimes our paths cross with each other.
- 23:58SPEAKER_03: And we'll have that brief moment of knowing each other and and and getting to see who that person is.
- 24:04SPEAKER_03: And other times paths align with each other and they will travel along together, right?
- 24:08SPEAKER_03: Like you and I meeting each other, we just met each other in July, June, July at the at the business summit.
- 24:15SPEAKER_04: At the business summit, yeah.
- 24:16SPEAKER_03: And it just happened to be that I was at a special event that we had for people interested in becoming 10x coaches.
- 24:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I happened to be sitting at the table next to you.
- 24:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and and that's how we met.
- 24:27SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 24:28SPEAKER_03: And it was it's just again, I think that's God's way of our paths crossing.
- 24:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:32SPEAKER_03: And then coming back, you know, and and talking and then certification and so forth.
- 24:37SPEAKER_03: And now here you're on the podcast, right?
- 24:38SPEAKER_03: Getting your message out of who you are, what your goals and and your aspirations are in life, right?
- 24:45SPEAKER_03: To make a difference.
- 24:46SPEAKER_03: So that's that's great.
- 24:48SPEAKER_03: So why do people struggle so much with major transitions in their life that you feel?
- 24:54SPEAKER_03: Why do you feel people struggle with that?
- 24:55SPEAKER_08: I just think it goes back to the fight or the perceived fear, and it's the fight or flight.
- 25:01SPEAKER_08: So people are creatures of habit.
- 25:04SPEAKER_03: Big time.
- 25:05SPEAKER_08: Yeah, like even going like on vacation, like going to the same place all the time.
- 25:09SPEAKER_03: Right, right.
- 25:10SPEAKER_08: I never really liked that.
- 25:11SPEAKER_08: And I always push to go different places.
- 25:14SPEAKER_08: But people are creatures of habit and it's like a safety place for them.
- 25:17SPEAKER_08: It's like they they know it, they're good, they feel safe.
- 25:20SPEAKER_08: And anything that is something different that's introduced, then fear arises.
- 25:26SPEAKER_08: But it's fear is just a perceived, it's invisible.
- 25:30SPEAKER_08: And the opposite of fear is faith.
- 25:32SPEAKER_08: So then we get to choose which one.
- 25:34SPEAKER_08: Do we want to stay in the fear or the faith.
- 25:37SPEAKER_08: The faith.
- 25:38SPEAKER_03: Yep, which is the positive side.
- 25:40SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 25:40SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 25:41SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 25:41SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 25:42SPEAKER_03: And and I I recently had a mentee we talked about the uh fight or flight reaction.
- 25:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:47SPEAKER_04: Uh-huh.
- 25:47SPEAKER_03: And he's like, Well, there's a third one that I refer to, and it's actually fight, flight, or freeze.
- 25:52SPEAKER_03: And he goes, I I freeze.
- 25:53SPEAKER_03: He goes, I'm in that frozen moment right now.
- 25:55SPEAKER_03: He goes, That's why I need coaching to help me get beyond that, to know if I need to fight or flight.
- 26:01SPEAKER_03: So I that's interesting that you brought that up.
- 26:03SPEAKER_08: And that's a pattern.
- 26:04SPEAKER_03: It it is a pattern, correct.
- 26:06SPEAKER_03: Correct.
- 26:06SPEAKER_03: And again, I think that the major struggle for people to transition is like you said, they get they get into their habits, right?
- 26:12SPEAKER_03: And it takes too much work to make a transition, a major transition.
- 26:16SPEAKER_08: So like But it's not about that it takes too much work, it's it's truly there is a great deal of fear that's tied to it.
- 26:23SPEAKER_08: And that tie could go back to childhood, it could go back to another life, and and you don't know what's in the subconscious mind.
- 26:32SPEAKER_08: And the subconscious mind is so incredibly powerful.
- 26:36SPEAKER_08: And that's where we operate 95 to 96 percent of the time in our subconscious.
- 26:42SPEAKER_08: That's why we repeat patterns and we say, Oh, I'm not gonna get in a relationship like that again, and then boom, we're in the same thing.
- 26:49SPEAKER_08: Exactly.
- 26:51SPEAKER_08: Or a job in a different situation.
- 26:53SPEAKER_08: And it, these are patterns, and this is what I do is I help to name that pattern.
- 27:00SPEAKER_08: And once it's named and it's exposed, then there's the harvest.
- 27:04SPEAKER_08: Then there's the harvest where there's the joy, that serenity that has been there the whole time.
- 27:10SPEAKER_08: It's just clearing that all out and it's pattern recognition.
- 27:14SPEAKER_03: What does somebody usually come to you struggling with?
- 27:17SPEAKER_03: Is there a most common pattern that you see in people, or is it is it different all across the board?
- 27:21SPEAKER_08: It's different.
- 27:22SPEAKER_08: It's different all across the board, whether it it could be it could be health related.
- 27:27SPEAKER_08: It could be an a business owner just taking their next big leap.
- 27:31SPEAKER_03: So personally and professionally, you're helping personally, professionally, yeah.
- 27:35SPEAKER_08: I'll ask better.
- 27:36SPEAKER_03: Spiritually, right.
- 27:37SPEAKER_08: Spiritually, yes.
- 27:38SPEAKER_03: Okay, okay.
- 27:40SPEAKER_03: So what does your process look like?
- 27:42SPEAKER_03: If someone wants to come to you, what does that process look like?
- 27:46SPEAKER_03: Can you give us an over overview of what that would look like?
- 27:50SPEAKER_08: I would I would start out with a clarity call and I offer that complimentary.
- 27:54SPEAKER_03: Oh, awesome.
- 27:54SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 27:55SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 27:55SPEAKER_08: And then uh and and then uh if they want to work with me, then as we talk about, okay, you know, what is it that, you know, what's coming up for you?
- 28:05SPEAKER_08: What's your target?
- 28:06SPEAKER_08: What's your goal?
- 28:07SPEAKER_03: So you help them identify.
- 28:09SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 28:10SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 28:10SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 28:11SPEAKER_08: You know, but is it then then it's like, well, what is it that you want in life?
- 28:14SPEAKER_08: And some people maybe don't know what they want in life.
- 28:17SPEAKER_08: Or some people say, Well, you know, I'm I'm, you know, I'm I I've done it all.
- 28:23SPEAKER_08: I've built a billion dollar business and life is changing.
- 28:26SPEAKER_08: The kids are all grown, they're out of the house, I've done the business, I've done all this stuff, but I'm kind of a little, a little lost.
- 28:34SPEAKER_08: So and there's something there, but I can't name it.
- 28:37SPEAKER_03: And then So how how important is clarity when somebody's trying to make a major change or identifying that pattern?
- 28:44SPEAKER_03: How important is clarity?
- 28:45SPEAKER_08: Well, clarity is everything.
- 28:46SPEAKER_08: It's gonna give you the next that's so that's your that right.
- 28:50SPEAKER_03: And that that clarity will help you help them identify their targets and goals.
- 28:54SPEAKER_04: Yes, right?
- 28:55SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 28:56SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 28:57SPEAKER_03: How do you how do you help someone identify beyond that that clarity call that you give to them complimentary?
- 29:03SPEAKER_03: How do you help someone identify what's actually holding them back?
- 29:06SPEAKER_08: Is there a specific process or is it just Yeah, it's a s it's a little bit of a like a somatic process as well with some some breath work.
- 29:13SPEAKER_08: And it's like what's coming up for you, what you're ready to release at the moment.
- 29:18SPEAKER_08: So I do I I offer that, and then I offer also longer term, and then also I have what's called the sovereign transition method, which is a 90-day where the first month is about truth, it's about what's real, separating what's real from what's not.
- 29:34SPEAKER_08: And then the second month, it's about letting go.
- 29:37SPEAKER_08: And then the third month, it's it's starting to build then.
- 29:39SPEAKER_04: Gotcha.
- 29:40SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 29:41SPEAKER_08: Some people were in that place for that, and that's a cycle too, because there's layers and layers.
- 29:45SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 29:46SPEAKER_08: But you need to have that, you need to separate.
- 29:49SPEAKER_08: You can't move forward and be successful necessarily if you have some financial issues that are holding you back.
- 29:55SPEAKER_08: So there's cleanup that needs to be done.
- 29:56SPEAKER_08: You have energy leaks there, right?
- 29:58SPEAKER_03: Gotcha.
- 29:59SPEAKER_03: Energy leaks, that's key.
- 30:00SPEAKER_03: I like I like that.
- 30:01SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 30:01SPEAKER_08: So it's understanding in the different areas of your life from personal to your relationships to financially.
- 30:09SPEAKER_08: I mean, looking at it in all aspects.
- 30:11SPEAKER_08: So what's the because one affects the other always.
- 30:14SPEAKER_03: It does, correct.
- 30:15SPEAKER_03: And and we with Grant Cardone talks about it, Natalie Dawson and Brandon Dawson, the you know, the personal, professional, and financial goals.
- 30:22SPEAKER_03: They all interlock and work with each other.
- 30:24SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 30:24SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 30:25SPEAKER_03: And I'm a I'm a huge proponent of if your personal isn't in place and intact and identified, the professional and financial will not come in place.
- 30:33SPEAKER_03: You've got to be strong in your personal core, then your others can can fall into place.
- 30:38SPEAKER_03: So we yeah.
- 30:39SPEAKER_03: So one last question on this topic is what's the difference between coaching someone and simply giving them advice?
- 30:46SPEAKER_03: What's your opinion on it?
- 30:47SPEAKER_03: What's your description of that?
- 30:48SPEAKER_08: Coaching and giving advice.
- 30:50SPEAKER_08: Well, giving advice is just talk.
- 30:52SPEAKER_08: You might as well sit with a therapist and do talk therapy.
- 30:57SPEAKER_08: That's just giving advice and or listening and giving advice.
- 31:00SPEAKER_08: But coaching is is is holding people accountable and taking, you know, towards their targets, their goals, and having a goal, having a target, taking action and being accountable for it.
- 31:11SPEAKER_08: That's what a coach does.
- 31:12SPEAKER_03: And I think that's a very important point.
- 31:14SPEAKER_03: A good coach doesn't necessarily give you all the answers.
- 31:17SPEAKER_03: Sometimes that coach asks the questions that help you discover the answers for yourself, right?
- 31:22SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 31:22SPEAKER_03: And and that's part of your philosophy, is getting that's part of my philosophy.
- 31:26SPEAKER_08: Absolutely.
- 31:27SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 31:27SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 31:27SPEAKER_08: With the coaching aspect.
- 31:29SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 31:29SPEAKER_08: Mm-hmm.
- 31:30SPEAKER_03: Well, here's a deeper question for you.
- 31:31SPEAKER_03: So, what what is the biggest transformation you've seen in someone you've coached or worked with without sharing any confidential, you know, information can tell you tell us what that transformation looked like.
- 31:43SPEAKER_08: Well, it was just a big sum of money hitting them immediately after.
- 31:47SPEAKER_08: Like it was just like it just happened.
- 31:49SPEAKER_03: We we talking six figures or more or six figures or under.
- 31:52SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 31:52SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 31:53SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 31:53SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 31:54SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 31:54SPEAKER_03: Sounds like you and I need to have a clarity call.
- 31:57SPEAKER_08: It's quick because you know, money loves speed.
- 32:00SPEAKER_08: Speed loves money.
- 32:01SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 32:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:02SPEAKER_03: And and money follows attention.
- 32:03SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 32:04SPEAKER_03: So okay.
- 32:05SPEAKER_03: Excellent.
- 32:05SPEAKER_03: I I appreciate you opening up and talking to us about sovereign transition and and how that came about and so forth.
- 32:11SPEAKER_03: So I love that.
- 32:12SPEAKER_03: So now let's talk about something more recent becoming a 10x certified business coach.
- 32:16SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 32:17SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 32:17SPEAKER_03: So, and that's obviously what connects us, right?
- 32:20SPEAKER_03: Is the 10x.
- 32:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 32:21SPEAKER_03: You know, so you've recently become certified as in last week.
- 32:24SPEAKER_03: It was just last week.
- 32:25SPEAKER_03: And I know that process doesn't happen overnight.
- 32:28SPEAKER_03: Uh, so let's talk about that.
- 32:29SPEAKER_03: One, what attracted you to Grant Cardone and the 10X mindset?
- 32:34SPEAKER_08: Just his his his energy, the flow.
- 32:37SPEAKER_03: It's contagious.
- 32:38SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 32:38SPEAKER_08: And I I I love to be in and around people like that.
- 32:43SPEAKER_08: And there's not many.
- 32:45SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 32:45unknown: Right.
- 32:46SPEAKER_08: I loved what he shared about.
- 32:47SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I wrote a book and and then I had an idea for another book.
- 32:50SPEAKER_08: And then my my folks said, no, no, no, you can't, you can't write, you can't, you can't publish a book.
- 32:56SPEAKER_03: Wrote a book.
- 32:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:57SPEAKER_08: Then call it a booklet.
- 32:58SPEAKER_03: Like wrote another book.
- 32:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:59SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 33:00SPEAKER_08: No hesitation.
- 33:01SPEAKER_08: Just do it.
- 33:02SPEAKER_08: Just do it.
- 33:03SPEAKER_08: I love that.
- 33:04SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 33:04SPEAKER_03: Ten minutes, I think he said he wrote this book.
- 33:06SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 33:06SPEAKER_03: This booklet.
- 33:07SPEAKER_03: He wrote this in 10 minutes.
- 33:08SPEAKER_08: You know, it's just such, I mean, it's like breakthrough, breakthrough, breakthrough, breakthrough.
- 33:13SPEAKER_08: Because this is all all the things that we have been carrying of the programming over the years, over the you know, generations.
- 33:22SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 33:22SPEAKER_08: And I just love it.
- 33:23SPEAKER_08: It's like breakthrough.
- 33:25SPEAKER_08: Powerful.
- 33:26SPEAKER_03: How did you first discover Grant Cardone and the 10X philosophy?
- 33:29SPEAKER_03: 10X Mr.
- 33:30SPEAKER_08: Why I I just I just saw him on Instagram.
- 33:33SPEAKER_08: I want to say this was in March.
- 33:35SPEAKER_08: I just discovered him this year.
- 33:36SPEAKER_03: Just March this year, really.
- 33:38SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 33:38SPEAKER_08: I didn't know who he was.
- 33:40SPEAKER_03: And then you jumped in.
- 33:42SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 33:42SPEAKER_08: And I got in with the real estate.
- 33:44SPEAKER_08: So I did the real estate summit because I was interested in real estate and and taking my funds that I had in my IRA, I was wanted to self-direct them.
- 33:52SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 33:52SPEAKER_08: I wanted to know where and I love, you know, I know real estate, and real estate's a great long-term investment vehicle.
- 34:00SPEAKER_08: And so that's my intention to go down there was okay, how how do I self-direct?
- 34:05SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 34:06SPEAKER_08: And and where do I self-direct?
- 34:08SPEAKER_08: I want, I want to see what what what opportunities there are.
- 34:11SPEAKER_08: And boom, I accomplished that.
- 34:13SPEAKER_08: And that first summit.
- 34:14SPEAKER_08: So all I knew was real estate then of grants.
- 34:16SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 34:16SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 34:17SPEAKER_08: Then from there was like the business summit.
- 34:19SPEAKER_08: And then I got calls on different things.
- 34:21SPEAKER_08: And then I started to discover more and then see a little bit more.
- 34:25SPEAKER_08: And then realize there's sales, there's marketing.
- 34:27SPEAKER_08: He's from the auto part, his sales, you know, he's from Louisiana, you know, just get to know more of who he is.
- 34:34SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 34:34SPEAKER_08: So things began to open and open and open up more for me to understand.
- 34:38SPEAKER_08: And I say, you know, and then yeah.
- 34:40SPEAKER_03: So well, with all the 10x and and people can our followers and listeners can jump in and they can find out more about uh 10x and Grant Cardone and how he can help entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, B2 employees, 1099ers, right?
- 34:54SPEAKER_03: Whoever and whatever they are.
- 34:56SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 34:56SPEAKER_03: So what would you say to a business owner who knows they need to grow but feels overwhelmed by where to start?
- 35:02SPEAKER_08: What would I say to them?
- 35:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 35:04SPEAKER_03: What would you say to a business owner, you know, who knows they need to grow but feels they're overwhelmed by where to start?
- 35:09SPEAKER_08: Are they willing to invest in themselves and starting there?
- 35:14SPEAKER_08: Because that's where the change is going to happen and take place.
- 35:17SPEAKER_03: That that is true.
- 35:18SPEAKER_03: That is true.
- 35:19SPEAKER_03: And I think that's one of the things that makes this so interesting is that the 10x isn't just about business, right?
- 35:24SPEAKER_03: It's about investing in yourself.
- 35:27SPEAKER_03: It's really about taking responsibility for the size of your goals.
- 35:31SPEAKER_03: One, identifying your goals.
- 35:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:33SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 35:33SPEAKER_03: And then taking responsibility for the size of them and then building the capacity to achieve them.
- 35:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:39SPEAKER_03: And that's very similar to what you've been talking about throughout this entire conversation is you just can't say, I want a different life.
- 35:46SPEAKER_03: You got to start building one, right?
- 35:48SPEAKER_03: You got to have that vision.
- 35:49SPEAKER_03: First, you have the clarity, then build the vision, then you have the plan, and then you got to take the action.
- 35:54SPEAKER_03: Not the normal action, but the massive action.
- 35:57SPEAKER_08: The massive action, yeah.
- 35:59SPEAKER_08: And that's that's what yeah.
- 36:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 36:01SPEAKER_03: And you got to stay accountable.
- 36:02SPEAKER_03: Like you talked about, accountability.
- 36:04SPEAKER_08: Big one.
- 36:05SPEAKER_03: So, so true on that.
- 36:07SPEAKER_03: So taking action.
- 36:08SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 36:09SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 36:09SPEAKER_03: Taking the right action, right level.
- 36:11SPEAKER_08: The right action.
- 36:12SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 36:13SPEAKER_03: Not the fight, flight, or freeze, right?
- 36:14SPEAKER_03: It's taking the right action to the faith.
- 36:17SPEAKER_03: So, April, if somebody listening right now owns a business and knows they're capable of more, but they're stuck, what's the first thing you would tell them to do?
- 36:25SPEAKER_08: Reach out to me, reach out to you.
- 36:27SPEAKER_08: Reach out to, yeah.
- 36:29SPEAKER_03: Just take that first step, right?
- 36:31SPEAKER_08: Take it, take that first step.
- 36:32SPEAKER_08: Whoever that it is, if it's not me, it's you, it's somebody.
- 36:36SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 36:36SPEAKER_08: It doesn't matter.
- 36:37SPEAKER_08: Take the step.
- 36:38SPEAKER_03: One of my uh positive affirmations I tell myself every day is I have infinite potential and possibilities in my life.
- 36:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 36:45SPEAKER_03: And and I tell that to people, you just got to take that step to make that happen.
- 36:49SPEAKER_03: Like Grant says, there's enough money on this planet for all 8.3 billion of us to be multimillionaires.
- 36:56SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 36:56SPEAKER_08: And money's not real, anyways.
- 36:58SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 36:58SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 36:59SPEAKER_03: It's just made up, right?
- 37:00SPEAKER_03: It's just made up.
- 37:01SPEAKER_03: So, all right, April, that transitions us into the part of our podcast.
- 37:05SPEAKER_03: It's the big dog rapid fire.
- 37:07SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 37:08SPEAKER_03: Uh-oh.
- 37:08SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 37:08SPEAKER_03: So we're going to have a little, we're going to have a little fun.
- 37:10SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 37:11SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 37:11SPEAKER_03: And I'm going to throw some questions at you.
- 37:13SPEAKER_03: Don't overthink them at all.
- 37:14SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 37:15SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 37:15SPEAKER_03: Just give me the first answer that pops to your mind.
- 37:18SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 37:18SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 37:19SPEAKER_03: What's one word that describes you?
- 37:21SPEAKER_03: Sovereign.
- 37:21SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 37:22SPEAKER_03: What's one word that describes your coaching philosophy?
- 37:25SPEAKER_08: Sovereign.
- 37:26SPEAKER_03: Ooh, I was going to say transition.
- 37:27SPEAKER_03: What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
- 37:31SPEAKER_08: Best piece of advice.
- 37:32SPEAKER_08: What first comes to mind is just thinking bigger than I mean, think big.
- 37:36SPEAKER_03: And who gave you that advice?
- 37:38SPEAKER_03: Who where'd you hear that advice?
- 37:39SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 37:39SPEAKER_08: M.
- 37:40SPEAKER_08: Calvert, my mentor, my prior mentor that worked with Bob Proctor.
- 37:44SPEAKER_08: Bob Project advice.
- 37:45SPEAKER_08: It's like I had to give like that, get get that permission to think big.
- 37:49SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 37:50SPEAKER_08: It doesn't matter what people think.
- 37:51SPEAKER_08: Anything is possible.
- 37:53SPEAKER_03: A limited belief hat that was on you.
- 37:55SPEAKER_03: And Kim, don't take that off.
- 37:56SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 37:57SPEAKER_03: Love it.
- 37:58SPEAKER_03: What's the worst piece of advice you ever received?
- 38:02SPEAKER_08: Oh, uh you can say it.
- 38:04SPEAKER_03: It's okay.
- 38:04SPEAKER_08: Don't just don't do that.
- 38:06SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 38:07SPEAKER_03: Just don't do that.
- 38:08SPEAKER_03: Why spend that money?
- 38:09SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 38:10SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 38:10SPEAKER_03: Here's a fun one.
- 38:11SPEAKER_03: Morning person or night owl?
- 38:12SPEAKER_08: I'm a night owl.
- 38:13SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 38:14SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 38:14SPEAKER_08: But I'm also more of a morning person, too.
- 38:17SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 38:17SPEAKER_03: Interesting.
- 38:18SPEAKER_03: So you're an all-day person.
- 38:19SPEAKER_08: I'm I'm more I'm morphing.
- 38:21SPEAKER_08: I'm morphing.
- 38:21SPEAKER_03: That's right.
- 38:22SPEAKER_08: So I'm getting less of the night and more of the morning.
- 38:25SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 38:25SPEAKER_03: Planner or spontaneous?
- 38:27SPEAKER_08: Spontaneous.
- 38:28SPEAKER_03: Biggest personal strength.
- 38:29SPEAKER_08: Communication.
- 38:30SPEAKER_03: Biggest lesson you've learned.
- 38:32SPEAKER_08: To trust myself.
- 38:33SPEAKER_03: I I was literally just sending that to you because that's that's exactly what I I feel from you on this, right?
- 38:40SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 38:40SPEAKER_03: Favorite motivational book.
- 38:42SPEAKER_08: Well, I'm reading Think and Grow Rich right now, so that's at the top of my mind.
- 38:45SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 38:46SPEAKER_08: By Napoleon Hill.
- 38:47SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 38:48SPEAKER_03: Yes, read it.
- 38:49SPEAKER_03: Favorite quote.
- 38:49SPEAKER_08: Favorite quote.
- 38:50SPEAKER_08: I don't know that it's a quote, but I am.
- 38:53SPEAKER_03: I am is your favorite saying or favorite quote.
- 38:55SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 38:55SPEAKER_08: It's powerful.
- 38:56SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 38:57SPEAKER_03: One habit every successful person should have.
- 39:00SPEAKER_08: Accountability.
- 39:01SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 39:02SPEAKER_03: One habit people need to eliminate.
- 39:04SPEAKER_08: Procrastination.
- 39:05SPEAKER_03: Oh my gosh, I was going to say the same thing.
- 39:07SPEAKER_03: What's something you wish you had learned 20 years earlier?
- 39:11SPEAKER_08: To trust myself.
- 39:12SPEAKER_03: What's one thing you're absolutely unwilling to compromise on?
- 39:16SPEAKER_08: My life.
- 39:16SPEAKER_03: Love it.
- 39:17SPEAKER_03: And finally, what's one thing you're still working on building in your own life?
- 39:22SPEAKER_08: Impacting lives.
- 39:23SPEAKER_03: Love it.
- 39:23SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 39:24SPEAKER_03: So that'd be your legacy.
- 39:25SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 39:26SPEAKER_03: Still working on your legacy.
- 39:27SPEAKER_08: Absolutely.
- 39:28SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 39:29SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 39:30SPEAKER_03: We're at the big dog challenge time.
- 39:31SPEAKER_03: So the big dog challenge in April, I'm going to put this challenge on you also, but I'm also putting it on everyone listening.
- 39:37SPEAKER_03: So here's the challenge.
- 39:38SPEAKER_03: Take 30 minutes this week and design your life.
- 39:42SPEAKER_03: Not your business, not your job, not your house, but your life.
- 39:46SPEAKER_03: Sit down with a piece of paper and answer these five questions.
- 39:50SPEAKER_03: What do I want my life to look like?
- 39:52SPEAKER_03: What do I want more of?
- 39:53SPEAKER_03: What do I want less of?
- 39:55SPEAKER_03: What's currently standing between me and that life?
- 39:59SPEAKER_03: And finally, number five, what's one action I can take this week to move closer to that life?
- 40:05SPEAKER_03: Don't overcomplicate it.
- 40:07SPEAKER_03: Don't have to redesign your entire life in one afternoon, but you've got to start somewhere because just like building a house, you need a plan before starting swinging the hammer, right?
- 40:18SPEAKER_03: So we like to give that challenge every week to our listeners and followers.
- 40:21SPEAKER_03: And that was a perfect fitting one for our uh podcast today with having you on.
- 40:26SPEAKER_03: So one of our final thoughts here, April, this has been a great conversation.
- 40:31SPEAKER_03: And I think one of the biggest takeaways for me is that your life doesn't just happen to you.
- 40:36SPEAKER_03: There are certainly things we can control, and there's things that we can't control.
- 40:40SPEAKER_03: There are circumstances we don't choose, and there are setbacks we never expected, but we still have a responsibility for what we do next.
- 40:48SPEAKER_03: And that's what designing and building is really about.
- 40:51SPEAKER_03: Start with that vision, that clarity, create that plan, take the action and make adjustments and keep building.
- 40:58SPEAKER_03: And that's what you're doing with sovereign transition.
- 41:00SPEAKER_03: And so before we wrap up, if someone listening wants to learn more about you, your coaching or sovereign transitions, where should they go?
- 41:08SPEAKER_08: I have a Facebook, a business page, Sovereign Transition.
- 41:12SPEAKER_08: And then my email address is april at sovereigntransition.com.
- 41:18SPEAKER_08: And that is singular on the transition.
- 41:20SPEAKER_03: Love it.
- 41:21SPEAKER_03: Love it.
- 41:21SPEAKER_03: And what would you say to somebody who's listening right now who knows they need to make a transition in their life, but they're scared to take that first step?
- 41:29SPEAKER_08: Just do it.
- 41:30SPEAKER_03: Just do it.
- 41:30SPEAKER_08: Take the action.
- 41:31SPEAKER_08: Take the action.
- 41:32SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 41:33SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 41:34SPEAKER_03: Hey, and for everyone listening, if today's conversation gave you something to think about, don't just listen to it and move on.
- 41:40SPEAKER_03: Do something with it.
- 41:41SPEAKER_03: Take the big dog challenge.
- 41:43SPEAKER_03: Spend 30 minutes this week designing the life you want.
- 41:46SPEAKER_03: And if you're getting ready to remodel your home, don't forget to download our big dog remodeling game plan checklist we have, right?
- 41:52SPEAKER_03: It's designed to help you think through your project before you start spending money or swinging a hammer.
- 41:56SPEAKER_03: Because at Big Dog Construction, we believe, plan smarter, build better.
- 42:01SPEAKER_03: Okay?
- 42:01SPEAKER_03: So, April, thank you so much for joining me today.
- 42:04SPEAKER_03: And thank you for everyone listening to Designing Building the Midwest One Community at a time.
- 42:09SPEAKER_03: So remember, this podcast isn't just about houses.
- 42:12SPEAKER_03: It's about the people who are designing and building something better: their homes, their businesses, their families, their communities, and their lives.
- 42:20SPEAKER_03: At Big Dog Construction, we just don't build houses.
- 42:22SPEAKER_03: We help families build better lives inside of them.
- 42:26SPEAKER_03: We build relationships that last and we build stronger communities.
- 42:29SPEAKER_03: One project, one family, and one community at a time.
- 42:33SPEAKER_03: So until next time, April, thank you.
- 42:35SPEAKER_08: Thank you, Chris.
- 42:36SPEAKER_08: I'm grateful for you.
- 42:37SPEAKER_03: Keep designing, keep building, and keep going 10X.
- 42:40SPEAKER_03: I'm Chris Hardzuck, your host.
