- 0:27Hey, everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So today we're talking about fall traditions and how
- 0:33important they are to our soul. Traditions in general are very
- 0:37important to the human soul because they link us back to
- 0:41those before us. And I I just think that that is
- 0:44just. For me, it is a huge, huge
- 0:47thing. I'm not quite sure how it became
- 0:50such a big thing because when I grew up we did not have a ton of
- 0:54traditions. Yeah, my mother put up a
- 0:56Christmas tree and we did, you know.
- 1:00Easter things, but we we were just not a very tradition driven
- 1:04family. And for me, I always wanted it.
- 1:07I always thought it was like so cool.
- 1:09I would watch shows and I would see things on TV and it like
- 1:14enamored me. I was just so, like, I want that
- 1:17so badly. So I've always tried to make it
- 1:20a thing in my family that we have very specific traditions
- 1:24around things. Christmas Eve we do a book
- 1:28exchange and you know it. It's always brought joy.
- 1:32I heard about it. It wasn't something that I came
- 1:34up with. I heard about it that it was a
- 1:36tradition. I forget if it was Switzerland
- 1:38or Sweden, where they would exchange books on Christmas Eve.
- 1:41But books have been a guiding force in my life.
- 1:44I am obsessed with books in general, whether they're
- 1:47audibles or whether they're printed.
- 1:50I love books and. I just think that there's such a
- 1:55gift because when you give someone a book, that tradition
- 1:58of giving someone a book is absolutely life shifting is
- 2:02probably why I like to write books so much.
- 2:03Because you can change someone's world, their entire world.
- 2:07You can take them on a vacation, taking them to somewhere else.
- 2:10You know you can change them by their thoughts by giving them a
- 2:14book on self development. You can teach them a skill by
- 2:17giving them a book on how to do something different, whatever it
- 2:21might be. It's a it's a tradition that I
- 2:23love. So I've incorporated that into
- 2:26our lives also. Think about the ones that you
- 2:30have, you know, do you have a Sunday morning tradition?
- 2:33Do you have? We have it with, you know, my
- 2:35husband will make Swedish pancakes.
- 2:38He is a Swedish descent, so he loves to make Swedish pancakes.
- 2:43And they are a big thing in our house where everybody's like
- 2:46waiting for, you know, because they can only be cooked one at a
- 2:49time because they're so delicate.
- 2:50But. You know what?
- 2:52Everybody waits there patiently to get their pancake.
- 2:54So it's important to figure out what are your little traditions
- 2:58and what are the things that you love to do.
- 3:01It doesn't matter if it's just a fall tradition, although I'm
- 3:03talking about fall traditions, whether it might be going
- 3:06pumpkin picking, carving apples, apple cider making, you know,
- 3:11apple tarts. My friend was telling me how she
- 3:13loves to make things all things apple this time of year.
- 3:17Doesn't matter what it is. She's an incredible Baker and
- 3:20how much she loves to do that. It just makes her happy.
- 3:23But figuring out what are those traditions?
- 3:25So for me, I absolutely love sitting by a fire.
- 3:29I don't know, it's obviously it's very primal to humans to
- 3:31begin with, but sitting by a fire is a big deal.
- 3:34Big enough that when we were building our house, I insisted
- 3:36that we have an outdoor fireplace.
- 3:38I wouldn't give it up no matter what.
- 3:40Even when budget, things were all over the place.
- 3:42I'm like, Nope, can't give up the fireplace.
- 3:44Nope, can't give up the fireplace.
- 3:45Because it's such a big deal to be able to go out there and sit
- 3:48by the fire and be able to wrap up in a blanket and have a
- 3:52conversation and read a book or just be happy, you know?
- 3:58Just be happy. It's part of my traditions as
- 4:01soon as the weather starts to cool off so.
- 4:03The point is, figure out what are your wonderful things that
- 4:08you want to incorporate into your traditions.
- 4:11What are the things that you've maybe you've always longed for
- 4:13it and never done it, and somebody might be listening and
- 4:16say, well, I don't have anybody that I could bake for.
- 4:19You know, I have a very small family or it might just be you.
- 4:22Well, you have to do things differently when that's the
- 4:25case, like with me, my eggs, everybody here around that I
- 4:29know. Gets eggs.
- 4:31I will deliver them to the Police Department.
- 4:33I will deliver them to the fire department.
- 4:35I give them to the girls that come here and help out with
- 4:38things. Everybody gets eggs on the girls
- 4:41because that's part of what I like to do.
- 4:44That's my tradition with my girls.
- 4:46I love them, I take care of them, I spoil them, They bring
- 4:50me joy and they cultivate a sense of wellbeing.
- 4:53That's the whole purpose of me doing a chicken coop podcast, so
- 4:56that you can all hear. It doesn't have to be like
- 4:58everybody else, does it? This is my thing, but you can
- 5:02certainly adopt it. I highly recommend it.
- 5:04There is a a beautiful thing about being around them.
- 5:07They are just great creatures, my tradition.
- 5:11So figure out what yours are. Figure out what you want them to
- 5:14be for the fall. Enjoy them.
- 5:17Enjoy yourself in the process and let yourself come up with
- 5:20new things. You'll be amazed at how
- 5:21wonderful you feel. All right, my friends.
- 5:23I hope you have a blessed day and I'll see you tomorrow.
- 5:26Bye.
