- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Tim rip Berwin's here. You know, I'm saying for
- 0:04Speaker 1: just about everybody. How about that for a lead? Uh
- 0:08Speaker 1: obviously the big thing now is KKs Priest, but but
- 0:12Speaker 1: uh yeah, out out hit in Australia solo just a
- 0:17Speaker 1: great band and uh great guys with Andrew and Voya
- 0:21Speaker 1: and and Joel and Jordan's and we've already played uh
- 0:26Speaker 1: Melbourne and it was just great, you know. I mean
- 0:28Speaker 1: the crowd was so good and it was packed, slam packed,
- 0:31Speaker 1: and uh so we're looking, you know these other shows,
- 0:36Speaker 1: uh you know we have I think the out of
- 0:38Speaker 1: the last four, I think they're all only one is
- 0:41Speaker 1: on weekdays, so that kind of sucks, you know, but
- 0:44Speaker 1: uh a long way to travel to play weekdays. But
- 0:50Speaker 1: it's uh, you know, I expect him to all be good.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I mean, the the Melbourne show was on Violentine's Day
- 0:55Speaker 1: and it was packed, so uh it was probably a
- 0:59Speaker 1: night of that into a lot of relationships. So there
- 1:01Speaker 1: we go.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Very nice.
- 1:04Speaker 3: But actually I got to say to you, Lok, from
- 1:06Speaker 3: your point of view, it'll have to be good getting
- 1:08Speaker 3: the sold outshine for the first on Melbourne, especially because
- 1:11Speaker 3: this is your solo show, like you know, everybody's there
- 1:13Speaker 3: to actually see you and you all material.
- 1:15Speaker 2: You're not a band that you're representing the tim round.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I think the guys in the band help
- 1:21Speaker 1: as well. Really, to be honest, on this kind of
- 1:23Speaker 1: a tour, I think that the band I put together,
- 1:25Speaker 1: they're all known musicians and everybody knows they're great, and
- 1:28Speaker 1: we played Melbourne last year. And but yeah, it's great
- 1:32Speaker 1: for him to come out. And what's great is to
- 1:33Speaker 1: start with a show like that and and that it's
- 1:38Speaker 1: Valentine's Day, because that's a hard sell, you know, I mean,
- 1:40Speaker 1: you you have to you got you know, some some
- 1:44Speaker 1: guy out there is going to be doing a lot
- 1:47Speaker 1: of chores around the house for a while to make
- 1:51Speaker 1: it up. But you know a lot of couples were
- 1:54Speaker 1: out there and it was it was a very romantic,
- 1:57Speaker 1: heavy metal evening.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Very nice.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Now you have finished the show in Melbourne on Valentine's Day,
- 2:02Speaker 3: but you've still got a few to go. You've got
- 2:04Speaker 3: Sydney this Thursday, Brisbane on Saturday, then you've got Adelaide
- 2:07Speaker 3: and you're finishing Perth on the twenty fourth. So we
- 2:11Speaker 3: just sort of spoke about this beaning solos all but
- 2:14Speaker 3: what's going to be different this time around to your
- 2:16Speaker 3: last few times.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Yeah, well we've you know, we added some songs to
- 2:21Speaker 1: the set list. We added another you know, we have
- 2:23Speaker 1: two k Case Priest songs in there, and added a
- 2:27Speaker 1: Beyond Fear song. We had a Scream Machine, We added
- 2:31Speaker 1: a classic Beyond the Realms of Death, and the set
- 2:33Speaker 1: list this time and Ice Earth when the Eagle Cries.
- 2:38Speaker 1: It's really a really good set list, you know, a
- 2:42Speaker 1: little bit of everything. Obviously, it doesn't you know. I
- 2:44Speaker 1: had some people that said they wanted to hear a
- 2:46Speaker 1: lot more Ice Earth and my airt Priest. I mean,
- 2:49Speaker 1: we have one, two, three or four songs of my
- 2:54Speaker 1: Ara Priest in there. But it's a you know, you've
- 2:57Speaker 1: got to make a set list to make everybody happy.
- 3:00Speaker 1: That's kind of it's you want to make it fun
- 3:03Speaker 1: for everybody. So it's kind of one of those setlists
- 3:05Speaker 1: that you know, anytime I tour, I try to do that,
- 3:09Speaker 1: but I have to. I mean I have to add
- 3:11Speaker 1: in songs a lot of times that I don't even
- 3:13Speaker 1: want to do, to be honest, but I do it
- 3:15Speaker 1: too to make it an enjoyable show.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Yeah you mentioned that, right, like you have been insimony
- 3:21Speaker 3: bands including Judas Pratty. So I said, there's Ingvay, Mount Stain, Diosi,
- 3:26Speaker 3: Si Falls and Three Tremors, KKs Praise and of course Ripa.
- 3:29Speaker 3: So coming up with the set list to keep everyone
- 3:31Speaker 3: happy must be a fucking nightmare.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Bro it is it is, just says it is with anybody.
- 3:37Speaker 1: I mean, it's the same with KKSE Priest, isn't it,
- 3:39Speaker 1: you know? I mean you have to We do a
- 3:42Speaker 1: lot of k Case but probably half and half. But
- 3:44Speaker 1: the thing we don't do is a lot of my
- 3:46Speaker 1: era a Judas Priest. We do one song, So people
- 3:48Speaker 1: complain a lot about that. But it's the same with
- 3:50Speaker 1: every every band and every artist out there. It's always
- 3:53Speaker 1: a pain and a button. It's a challenge to make
- 3:55Speaker 1: a setlist. You will not make anybody happy. And to
- 3:58Speaker 1: be honest, in this day and age, it's impossible to
- 4:01Speaker 1: make it somebody happy, you know. I mean, it's just
- 4:03Speaker 1: they're gonna complain. I mean, listen, just by reading comments
- 4:08Speaker 1: on posts of mine on social media, people know everything.
- 4:11Speaker 1: I mean, they know exactly how I should look, sound,
- 4:15Speaker 1: what clothes I should wear, what setlists I should have.
- 4:18Speaker 1: You know, so you're not gonna make everybody happy. And
- 4:22Speaker 1: that's what's it's really hard to do and you you
- 4:25Speaker 1: nail it, you know. Uh, people want to hear winners Bane,
- 4:29Speaker 1: my first band I released something with. Uh, so it's
- 4:33Speaker 1: it is, it's tough and you kind of do it.
- 4:35Speaker 1: And I've toured doing these songs, you know, I know
- 4:38Speaker 1: my South America tour coming up. I think I've added
- 4:41Speaker 1: Bloodstained into the set list and uh, you know, we
- 4:45Speaker 1: might do Jugulator, but you know, it's it's it's tough
- 4:49Speaker 1: to do it. But this is a really good one
- 4:51Speaker 1: and the band's really great, a lot of energy, a
- 4:53Speaker 1: lot of fun. So it's it's it's definitely a great show,
- 4:57Speaker 1: you know. And people, we got some great merch there.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I'll get hard lines. Him and his wife put together
- 5:02Speaker 1: some some Amabel's put together some really good merch shirts.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I know, we had some vinyl and stuff, and I
- 5:09Speaker 1: brought some posters and eight by ten signed. So it's
- 5:13Speaker 1: really a nice, nice show to come up. People don't
- 5:15Speaker 1: want to miss it because it's not something that's going
- 5:16Speaker 1: to happen every day, you know, so try to get
- 5:20Speaker 1: the word out, get their tickets and get out there.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Fantass again you did touch on the backing band you've
- 5:26Speaker 3: got with him, mate, like you've got some body good
- 5:28Speaker 3: musicians there, and Joel and Jordan McDonald and Andrew Hudson
- 5:31Speaker 3: and boy, I wasn't gonna try and say his last
- 5:34Speaker 3: nings and I got to fuck it up. But Mullatinovich,
- 5:38Speaker 3: tell tell us about it, tell us about them and
- 5:40Speaker 3: why you've got them as part of the draw.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Well, last shows a couple of shows we did last year.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Joel and Jordan put this lineup together for us to
- 5:49Speaker 1: do the shows, and I was just over the moon
- 5:53Speaker 1: with him when I showed up. We did a rehearsal
- 5:55Speaker 1: the night before the first show in Sydney and it
- 5:56Speaker 1: was great. Uh you know, we do a little guitar
- 6:00Speaker 1: solo instrumentally thing in there and a little drum solo
- 6:04Speaker 1: and it's just like a complete show. It looks like
- 6:07Speaker 1: a band that's that's played together. That's what it should be.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Because and this was the first time when I just
- 6:13Speaker 1: played with them, Because when I go to South America
- 6:15Speaker 1: or Spain coming up, these are bands that I've played
- 6:17Speaker 1: with before, so we you know, it's pretty solid. But
- 6:21Speaker 1: now I was when I when I asked Joel about
- 6:24Speaker 1: putting this run of shows together February. I was really
- 6:28Speaker 1: hoping I could get the same lineup, you know, because
- 6:30Speaker 1: they're all musicians. They're all busy, uh you know, with
- 6:35Speaker 1: with life and music and jobs and careers and whatever
- 6:38Speaker 1: it may be. You're going to be busy. But we
- 6:41Speaker 1: were able to do it. And yeah, they are just
- 6:43Speaker 1: great musicians and a lot of fun to be with,
- 6:45Speaker 1: you know. So it's I mean, just the price of
- 6:48Speaker 1: admission is just listening to to Jordan laugh all the time.
- 6:51Speaker 1: I think that's probably I think that's you know, people
- 6:55Speaker 1: could pay just to hear that and see that.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I'll beat that one up for sure.
- 7:01Speaker 3: I've noticed lately you've been doing a lot of collaborations
- 7:04Speaker 3: with smaller off and coming bands like Calvin Black and
- 7:06Speaker 3: Wullgrave a Pyramid, there's quite a few more. Mate Like,
- 7:10Speaker 3: as an artist, what do you get out of collaborating
- 7:12Speaker 3: with bands that sort of more just starting out.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Well, it's a lot of fun, you know, I've always
- 7:20Speaker 1: done it, but it really probably kicked in to a
- 7:23Speaker 1: little more gear or even the idea at when COVID hit,
- 7:29Speaker 1: you know, I had to do something, so I think
- 7:33Speaker 1: I posted, Hey, I'm off obviously I'm off and and
- 7:37Speaker 1: so that's what happens. I come home and if I
- 7:38Speaker 1: have some time off, I mean, people say why do
- 7:41Speaker 1: I do that all the time, And I'm like, well,
- 7:42Speaker 1: why wouldn't I do that all the time. I mean,
- 7:44Speaker 1: I'm I go home, I'm off the road. Uh you know,
- 7:48Speaker 1: I mean the main, the main priority in my career
- 7:51Speaker 1: right now is KKSE Priest. That's the main priority. So whatever.
- 7:55Speaker 1: You know, obviously I was told that this year wasn't
- 7:57Speaker 1: going to be much going on. We'll probably start recording
- 8:01Speaker 1: a new record, you know, hopefully, but I had to
- 8:04Speaker 1: book touring. But when I'm home, you know, I do
- 8:07Speaker 1: vocals and and uh yeah, I do it for a
- 8:10Speaker 1: lot of people. I mean it's just uh a lot
- 8:13Speaker 1: of times I'll just post on social media and I'll
- 8:16Speaker 1: give a little plug It's Ripper Vocals at gmail dot com.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Uh that I'm off the road. And if they want
- 8:22Speaker 1: me to guest on the record, give me, give me
- 8:24Speaker 1: a you know, drop me a line and we'll discuss
- 8:28Speaker 1: and see if it can be done. You know, I
- 8:29Speaker 1: don't do it for free. So uh, we'll make that
- 8:33Speaker 1: point clear. Because I've had some offers and I think
- 8:35Speaker 1: people think I do do it for free or they
- 8:38Speaker 1: want to pay. You know, some of the offers are
- 8:40Speaker 1: pretty funny. I I you know, it's uh a lot
- 8:45Speaker 1: of fun.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:46Speaker 1: I've done a lot of great ones here in Australia,
- 8:48Speaker 1: a lot of great bands and a lot of a
- 8:52Speaker 1: lot of good songs. I've had some really cool songs
- 8:54Speaker 1: here as well. So yeah, it's a lot of fun
- 8:56Speaker 1: to do a lot of different style stuff. I mean,
- 8:58Speaker 1: I'll go from like an eighties or seventies kind of
- 9:01Speaker 1: a rainbow song to like a death metal song. So
- 9:04Speaker 1: it's really funny to do all the different stuff.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Now've we mentioned before the long list of bands you've
- 9:10Speaker 3: fronted in your career, mate, But musically, what do you
- 9:13Speaker 3: get differently from each each band? I guess, like, is
- 9:16Speaker 3: it a personal challenge to sort of be able to
- 9:19Speaker 3: do so much stuff?
- 9:20Speaker 2: Is it? What are you what are you actually getting
- 9:23Speaker 2: out of it?
- 9:25Speaker 1: No, it's it's uh, it's still me singing, you know.
- 9:29Speaker 1: So I guess that's kind of the thing. I mean
- 9:30Speaker 1: I really enjoy. Uh, Obviously, the songs I'm gonna enjoy
- 9:35Speaker 1: the most is the ones I've been involved with so much,
- 9:38Speaker 1: you know, with the with my Era Priest, and I
- 9:42Speaker 1: really really enjoy the k Case Priests. I mean, the
- 9:45Speaker 1: last couple of years has been so successful with k
- 9:48Speaker 1: Case Priest. The last album was was just such a
- 9:52Speaker 1: banger and a winner, uh all the way around on
- 9:57Speaker 1: the record and it's and we're really the great guys.
- 10:00Speaker 1: It's a great, great time live on the road. But
- 10:04Speaker 1: when I do, when I do these these tours, that
- 10:07Speaker 1: I enjoy singing all of them, you know, I mean
- 10:11Speaker 1: a couple couple celebration numbers in this set list for
- 10:18Speaker 1: some but when people ask me to do different things,
- 10:20Speaker 1: different styles, I love doing it all. It's all a
- 10:22Speaker 1: little bit different, but it's still always me singing it. Obviously,
- 10:26Speaker 1: it's a little more challenging when it's somebody else who
- 10:30Speaker 1: already sang it, and they might be a lot different
- 10:32Speaker 1: than me, especially the higher natural voice stuff, and they
- 10:35Speaker 1: want me to do it so or they want a
- 10:37Speaker 1: certain vibe and I might not be my vibe. But
- 10:41Speaker 1: I just enjoyed doing it and it makes me a
- 10:43Speaker 1: better singer being able to sing all the different stuff.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Now, before I let you go, Ripper, I've started off
- 10:49Speaker 3: a new segment called photo Bomb, where basically I stroll
- 10:53Speaker 3: through social media before I speak with you, and I'll
- 10:57Speaker 3: find some pictures that I want to know a little
- 10:59Speaker 3: bit more about. The first one on Bampoy. Hey, this
- 11:06Speaker 3: one here, like you've been giving to kta Albuq. He
- 11:09Speaker 3: might but what is what is that actually main? O?
- 11:12Speaker 3: When do you get a ka a city? What is
- 11:13Speaker 3: that actually main?
- 11:14Speaker 1: Do that in Australia, U, It's just a tribute in
- 11:19Speaker 1: a in a you know, it's like winning an award,
- 11:22Speaker 1: you know. Really, Actually that key from when I was
- 11:26Speaker 1: told from the mayor the key was actually like a
- 11:29Speaker 1: replica of a real jail key, So I guess I
- 11:35Speaker 1: I should keep it in my pocket at all times
- 11:37Speaker 1: in case I get arrested. But yeah, KK and I
- 11:41Speaker 1: each got one, so it was a pretty It was
- 11:44Speaker 1: really cool. It was the first time I ever got
- 11:46Speaker 1: a key to a city, so that was a great
- 11:48Speaker 1: honor to do. That's a it's a really big honor.
- 11:51Speaker 1: And this mayor happens to like heavy metal obviously, and
- 11:55Speaker 1: he's I think, uh Mark got a key from except
- 11:59Speaker 1: I know he got a key and he I think
- 12:00Speaker 1: this guy goes to some metal concerts and and gives
- 12:03Speaker 1: gives keys out to some metal people that you know
- 12:07Speaker 1: him and his brother comes along and so it's a
- 12:09Speaker 1: it's an honor to get one.
- 12:11Speaker 3: So if you get caught playing up in town, can
- 12:13Speaker 3: you just pull the key out and it's like you
- 12:14Speaker 3: get at his japree cod.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Well, either that or I have to reach around the
- 12:19Speaker 1: bars and open it up with the key. Very good.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Now this other one we haven't got there use in Australia, mate,
- 12:26Speaker 3: So I just want to know.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Is this how you make the cactus?
- 12:31Speaker 1: Yeah, that's uh, that is an Australia to let you know,
- 12:39Speaker 1: that's uh, that's a winery here. I'm not gonna let
- 12:43Speaker 1: him know because they might not let me back. Uh.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Actually it's in the Megalong it's in the Megalong Valley
- 12:51Speaker 1: here close to uh it's close to Black Heath really
- 12:54Speaker 1: and up here in the Blue Mountain. It's in the
- 12:56Speaker 1: Blue Mountains, Megalong Valley. Uh. That was that the Megalong
- 13:00Speaker 1: Valley winery that was at the one next door. But
- 13:05Speaker 1: my girlfriend suggested that if I could spice up the
- 13:08Speaker 1: grapes a little bit before they come in the season,
- 13:10Speaker 1: So I figured, let's let's help them out. So this
- 13:14Speaker 1: means that just basically means Chris is that I will
- 13:19Speaker 1: have my own wine out pretty soon.
- 13:23Speaker 3: And it also means there's going to be people watching
- 13:25Speaker 3: his drinking that merry long wine.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Who is spitting it out all over the place right now.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Yeah, this was before you could tell that what I
- 13:34Speaker 1: wasn't peeing on the grapes. I was peeing on the ground.
- 13:37Speaker 1: But maybe I wasn't, who knows.
