- 2:10Speaker 1: episode drops. But I was thinking of you and like
- 2:12Speaker 1: profiling the guys. Let's do it. Let's do it. Maybe
- 2:16Speaker 1: maybe like the fan favorites. If you have one and
- 2:19Speaker 1: you want to know more about please email us at
- 2:22Speaker 1: Girls Gone Hallmark at gmail dot com say like, hey, Wendy,
- 2:25Speaker 1: I'd like to know more about Drake or whoever Angel Marcus.
- 2:31Speaker 1: I think I'm gonna do like a little deep dive
- 2:34Speaker 1: profile on the dudes. Give the people what they want
- 2:36Speaker 1: and start with Rustin. Fans aren't really into Rustin, aren't
- 2:40Speaker 1: they The real fan favorite. I'm not surprised. I think
- 2:43Speaker 1: I said that when I saw episode one, I was like,
- 2:46Speaker 1: he gives that Tyler Hines energy. Hmmm, and I think
- 2:50Speaker 1: I think fans enjoy that. I think you're right. Hey,
- 2:54Speaker 1: before we jump into our recap of Finding Mister Christmas
- 2:58Speaker 1: episode five, can I mention email we got from listener
- 3:01Speaker 1: Laura please do. She emailed us she's a new listener
- 3:06Speaker 1: of the podcast. Thank you, and since it's an email
- 3:09Speaker 1: and said, Hey, I thought you guys might want to
- 3:10Speaker 1: know this, but I am watching season four of Selling
- 3:14Speaker 1: the OC and who does she see in episode six
- 3:17Speaker 1: at the thirty minute mark, a shirtless Angel. Now you
- 3:21Speaker 1: are Selling the OC watcher. Yes, I was watching it
- 3:24Speaker 1: that day. I was watching it that day and when
- 3:27Speaker 1: I saw this email, I was like, wait, hold up,
- 3:30Speaker 1: I was not even at home. I pull up Netflix
- 3:32Speaker 1: because Selling the OC is on Netflix. I pull it
- 3:34Speaker 1: up on my phone. I'm actually on the episode that
- 3:39Speaker 1: she's referencing, episode six, but I hadn't got to the
- 3:42Speaker 1: thirty minute mark yet, so I was like, scrubbed it
- 3:44Speaker 1: a little bit. Sure enough, there he is. Now, what's
- 3:47Speaker 1: what's Angel doing in this episode? The agents from the
- 3:52Speaker 1: Real Estate group are at a dinner and they hire
- 3:56Speaker 1: like some shirtless waiters and he is one of the waiters.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Ah got it. Yeah, and he's in a lot of scenes.
- 4:04Speaker 1: The other guy don't know who he is, but definitely
- 4:06Speaker 1: Angel I was like, there he is. I can't believe
- 4:09Speaker 1: it it is. I hope he got paid for it.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Sure I did. I certainly hope. So I also would
- 4:15Speaker 1: like to follow up regarding Davy being a Hemsworth body double.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Oh okay, we did get intel that it is, in
- 4:22Speaker 1: fact true. It happened on a commercial, which is why
- 4:27Speaker 1: it's not on his IMDb, which I didn't know that
- 4:29Speaker 1: commercial work doesn't go on your IMDb. Someone did slide
- 4:32Speaker 1: into the DMS, someone who who knows things, and I
- 4:35Speaker 1: don't know if they want me to out them as
- 4:37Speaker 1: knowing things. So I'm not going to say who it is,
- 4:40Speaker 1: but someone connected enough with the show whose opinion I
- 4:44Speaker 1: trust got it.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Well.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Let's kick off our discussion of the fifth episode of
- 4:50Speaker 1: My Name Mister Christmas with a synopsis. The Hunks roll
- 4:54Speaker 1: into giant plastic balls crashing through Christmas trees in a
- 4:58Speaker 1: wild festive face off, then with Hunter King as guest judge,
- 5:02Speaker 1: teams perform a neighborhood party scene that leads to a
- 5:06Speaker 1: dramatic elimination. Our episode opens with Marcus and Robbie having
- 5:11Speaker 1: a heart to heart around the fire pit outside. You
- 5:13Speaker 1: get a little deeper dive into Marcus's discussion about his
- 5:17Speaker 1: mom and as he's relating to Robbie about his stories
- 5:20Speaker 1: about his mom. It's a real sweet moment. And Christian, yes,
- 5:25Speaker 1: can I stop you there? We did learn, like in
- 5:28Speaker 1: a previous episode that Marcus's mom has cancer. Yeah, this
- 5:32Speaker 1: wasn't the first mention of it. I'm like, am I
- 5:34Speaker 1: going crazy?
- 5:35Speaker 2: No?
- 5:35Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, Marcus mentioned it a couple episodes ago. Okay, Yeah,
- 5:39Speaker 1: this was a nice sweet conversation between Robbie and Marcus. Robbie,
- 5:45Speaker 1: Marcus for sharing this with him, Buddy, I am crying. Yeah,
- 5:50Speaker 1: I was like, Robbie is full like therapist mode I
- 5:55Speaker 1: that moment. I love Robbie so much. I know, I
- 6:00Speaker 1: love Robbie. Two guys, this is foreshadowing here. This episode
- 6:06Speaker 1: is full of spoilers in case that's unclear, So if
- 6:09Speaker 1: you don't want to hear it and click away now
- 6:10Speaker 1: because we're going to be talking about it. But yeah,
- 6:14Speaker 1: that was the moment that had my spidy senses tingling
- 6:18Speaker 1: a little bit. Oh really, Yeah, I feel like if
- 6:21Speaker 1: we're giving people, you know, sometimes it's just a nice
- 6:24Speaker 1: human interest story. But also sometimes, as we've discussed, if
- 6:27Speaker 1: we're centering someone up top, it means something good or
- 6:30Speaker 1: something bad. I know, I know, I know. I wish
- 6:34Speaker 1: they would really like dupe me sometimes. Yeah, me too,
- 6:40Speaker 1: me too. Just blindside me with an elimination. Don't give
- 6:43Speaker 1: me any clue of what's coming. I will say I
- 6:47Speaker 1: was a little blindsided by this elimination. But well, we'll
- 6:50Speaker 1: talk more about it. Sure, we've been talking a lot
- 6:53Speaker 1: about product placement on this podcast, as we've seen it
- 6:56Speaker 1: in the movies and the Balsom Hill ad before we
- 6:59Speaker 1: go inside the house. House was fast and furious, it
- 7:02Speaker 1: sure was. I we established early that we like to
- 7:07Speaker 1: call it Balsam Hill House. Yes, trademark, I mean, call us?
- 7:12Speaker 1: Should I trademark that? No? I actually in my recaps
- 7:17Speaker 1: that I write, I do put a little trademark. That's
- 7:19Speaker 1: hilarious because I think it's funny. But we make Balsam
- 7:24Speaker 1: Hill House merch or are we gonna get in trouble?
- 7:26Speaker 1: I don't we have a Girl's Gone Hallmark podcast. I
- 7:30Speaker 1: don't know know the patent rules or whatever trademark rules.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I kind of want to make a shirt that says
- 7:36Speaker 1: Balsam Hill House.
- 7:38Speaker 2: I know, I know.
- 7:39Speaker 1: So we head inside the house and everyone's like buzzing.
- 7:42Speaker 1: It's the usual, like how did you sleep last night?
- 7:44Speaker 1: And I can't believe that elimination, so on and so forth,
- 7:47Speaker 1: and Rustlin jokes. They're talking about like the day, like
- 7:50Speaker 1: what's ahead of them, and Rustin says something like he's like, oh,
- 7:53Speaker 1: I want to get outside and sweat. So many jokes
- 7:56Speaker 1: about like getting the jitters out, and then we have
- 7:58Speaker 1: like Angel not it wasn't even a flashback, but he
- 8:02Speaker 1: talks about like his mister talent thing about like getting
- 8:05Speaker 1: the jitters out. And the only reason this lives in
- 8:07Speaker 1: my brain rent Free, by the way, is the getting
- 8:11Speaker 1: the jitters out thing is triggering some sort of like
- 8:14Speaker 1: children's show that I feel like I watched with my
- 8:17Speaker 1: daughter for years and years and years, and I don't
- 8:19Speaker 1: know what it is. Is it the Wiggles. I don't know.
- 8:23Speaker 1: We were not a Wiggles family. I can't recall, but
- 8:26Speaker 1: like for some reason that I was like, no, not
- 8:28Speaker 1: back to that again. Anyway, I thought this was an
- 8:33Speaker 1: interesting scene. This revealed a lot to me in this
- 8:37Speaker 1: in this scene here, because Robbie is trying to steer
- 8:39Speaker 1: the conversation about like what's everybody going to bring into
- 8:41Speaker 1: the day, and we hear from Craig, and Craig is like,
- 8:44Speaker 1: I need vulnerability, and he's he explains like he came
- 8:50Speaker 1: into the competition like I'm gonna come and swing in,
- 8:53Speaker 1: I'm gonna make bold choices. But now he thinks he
- 8:56Speaker 1: might need to like pivot and do something a little
- 8:58Speaker 1: bit different because Jonathan isn't seeing like what Craig can
- 9:02Speaker 1: bring to the table. I thought this was super interesting.
- 9:07Speaker 1: But then then Davey Davy admits he needs more confidence,
- 9:13Speaker 1: and I was like, whoa look in the mirror. Is
- 9:16Speaker 1: that what you said to yourself?
- 9:17Speaker 2: No?
- 9:17Speaker 1: But I was like, did Gabe leave the confidence behind.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Or like the lack of confidence behind for Davy to
- 9:24Speaker 2: pick up here, because what is happening right well, I
- 9:28Speaker 2: think Davey is getting really in his head about the
- 9:30Speaker 2: other guys Rustin.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Yes, he feels very threatened by Rusten. And what's interesting
- 9:36Speaker 1: to me my perception of Davy and Davey, feel free
- 9:40Speaker 1: to email or Damas to correct me. My perception of
- 9:42Speaker 1: Davy is that Davy came into this competition confident and
- 9:47Speaker 1: then got a little bit of the self comparison going,
- 9:52Speaker 1: and as opposed to letting himself stand on his own,
- 9:55Speaker 1: he's measuring himself up against the other guys. Yeah, it's
- 10:00Speaker 1: like imposter syndrome, right, Yes, Yeah, it's interesting to watch
- 10:05Speaker 1: because Davey is a fine piece of humanity or no,
- 10:09Speaker 1: that's not the word I want to use. He's a
- 10:10Speaker 1: fine pieces a he's fine plain insphal like, he's a
- 10:16Speaker 1: good looking man. And I think he can act too.
- 10:19Speaker 1: I think so too. And I also think it's really
- 10:21Speaker 1: important to note that Davy and Rustin do not need
- 10:24Speaker 1: to be mutually exclusive like they I understand this competition
- 10:27Speaker 1: only has one winner, but in the acting world, we
- 10:30Speaker 1: need a variety of people, and so they're not going
- 10:34Speaker 1: for the same stuff Davy and rust In. You know,
- 10:36Speaker 1: I wonder if Davy is worried about the perception people
- 10:40Speaker 1: have of him, because he's a very good looking model, right,
- 10:46Speaker 1: and so maybe the doubt is, oh, he probably can't act,
- 10:50Speaker 1: and so maybe that's what he is comparing himself like
- 10:55Speaker 1: he's like, yeah, I got this because I look good,
- 10:56Speaker 1: but now I have to prove to everybody that I
- 10:59Speaker 1: can act too. Were like, the deck is stacked against him,
- 11:03Speaker 1: do you know what I mean? Yes, I think he's
- 11:05Speaker 1: measuring his self worth up against these other guys. It's
- 11:09Speaker 1: wild to watch. Mm hmm. It's like a beautiful woman
- 11:13Speaker 1: being like, oh I'm not I'm not bad. Yeah, it's
- 11:18Speaker 1: festive face of time. Did you like Melissa's baton twirling
- 11:23Speaker 1: routine as the dudes enter, You know, I was like,
- 11:27Speaker 1: what is happening out here? In my mind, I imagine
- 11:32Speaker 1: like she's like, oh, look at this stick. Let me
- 11:34Speaker 1: put some garland on it. Hey, I'm gonna pretend like
- 11:36Speaker 1: I'm in a marching band, you know, Like, I'm sure
- 11:38Speaker 1: it wasn't like pre planned. M I just think she
- 11:42Speaker 1: just ran with it. It was cute. And then Jonathan's on
- 11:46Speaker 1: the bullhorn. I was like, whoa, that's just a lot
- 11:48Speaker 1: of a lot of energy. I'm dying to know, Like,
- 11:51Speaker 1: was this truly in the morning or was this in
- 11:54Speaker 1: the afternoon post Celsius, Yes, exactly.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Please.
- 12:00Speaker 1: So their bestive face off challenge, they've got to get
- 12:02Speaker 1: into giant hamster balls and knocks down knock down six trees,
- 12:09Speaker 1: and time is of the essence. Whoever does it the
- 12:11Speaker 1: fastest will ultimately win the challenge. I have a question
- 12:14Speaker 1: for you. Yeah, have you ever been in one of
- 12:17Speaker 1: those like plastic hamster ball things? I have not, and
- 12:21Speaker 1: I have questions about it. I don't Is it hot
- 12:24Speaker 1: in there? Is it claustrophobic?
- 12:27Speaker 2: Like?
- 12:27Speaker 1: That's what if I could do it?
- 12:28Speaker 2: So?
- 12:29Speaker 1: You saw when they open them up that they deflated, right,
- 12:31Speaker 1: and then they use like a blower to refill them
- 12:34Speaker 1: with air? Uh huh? So is there not air coming
- 12:40Speaker 1: in or out? Or is the only air in there
- 12:43Speaker 1: the air that they start with. I don't know. I
- 12:47Speaker 1: don't want to try it though, know me either. They
- 12:50Speaker 1: made me a little bit nervous, super nervous. Here's my
- 12:54Speaker 1: other question about this challenge, because sometimes our festive face offs.
- 13:00Speaker 1: I have some sort of life lesson tied to it, right, Oh,
- 13:05Speaker 1: you know, some sort of something that might you know,
- 13:08Speaker 1: a metaphorative acting or like I said, a life lesson.
- 13:12Speaker 1: But I'm coming up empty. Oh I was gonna say,
- 13:15Speaker 1: I can't wait to hear what the metaphor? Yes, I agree,
- 13:18Speaker 1: I think This is pure silliness. Pure I think whoever
- 13:21Speaker 1: designed this challenge was like, you know what, let's just
- 13:24Speaker 1: put these guys in some balls and see them crush them. Shit,
- 13:27Speaker 1: let's make some people laugh. Yeah. I think that's all
- 13:30Speaker 1: it came down to. Yes. Agree. They're divided into two
- 13:33Speaker 1: groups of three, and our first group is Marcus and
- 13:37Speaker 1: Davy and Craig. And one thing you have to be
- 13:40Speaker 1: careful of is the ribbons are not visible from every
- 13:43Speaker 1: side of the tree. The trees are marked with the
- 13:45Speaker 1: color ribbon, and each guy has a color that they
- 13:47Speaker 1: have to knock down and you can't always see the color.
- 13:50Speaker 1: And Davy gives Marcus a point right up top, accidentally
- 13:54Speaker 1: knocking over one of his trees. Yeah, why wouldn't you
- 13:57Speaker 1: run around the other way to look for the I
- 14:00Speaker 1: mean maybe the life lesson is like slow down a
- 14:02Speaker 1: little bit. Maybe that is a life lesson. It is
- 14:07Speaker 1: pure chaos and the balls in the beginning, especially with
- 14:09Speaker 1: this early group. But it's like Marcus and dv are
- 14:12Speaker 1: off to an early lead, and then Craig makes a
- 14:14Speaker 1: comeback and then it's a three way tie and everybody
- 14:17Speaker 1: has five points, and then you just see Davy like
- 14:19Speaker 1: cruise in for the win. Davy Hamsworth. Davey takes the win.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Robbie Resting and Angel are group number two and they
- 14:28Speaker 1: have the advantage of having seen the first group, and
- 14:31Speaker 1: so Robbie is a man with a plan. Robbie is
- 14:33Speaker 1: the only man with a plan. Well, Angel takes off
- 14:37Speaker 1: sprinting and then just dumbles, which is humorous. I'm not
- 14:41Speaker 1: gonna lie. We have the same situation, like we get
- 14:43Speaker 1: to a three way tie of five and then Robbie,
- 14:47Speaker 1: when's the heat? Look at Robbie the robby, right, I know,
- 14:51Speaker 1: he's so good at these challenges. And then it comes
- 14:54Speaker 1: down to you know, they call them heats, and I
- 14:56Speaker 1: was like, wait a minute, are we gonna have Davy
- 14:59Speaker 1: and Robbie they do a final challenge against each other.
- 15:02Speaker 1: They should have I think so too, But ultimately it
- 15:05Speaker 1: just came down to whoever had the fastest time in
- 15:07Speaker 1: their heat, and Davy takes the win. I wonder if
- 15:11Speaker 1: they were like, we can't have Robbie winn again, so
- 15:15Speaker 1: why not? Though that's ridiculous. It's you know, if Robbie
- 15:21Speaker 1: spoiler alert, if Robbie would have won, no, it wouldn't
- 15:24Speaker 1: have saved him because he could have still, in their eyes,
- 15:28Speaker 1: did poorly in the acting challenge and then could have
- 15:31Speaker 1: been eliminated. So if he won the festive face off,
- 15:34Speaker 1: it probably wouldn't have a say in the outcome. Yeah,
- 15:39Speaker 1: Robbie says here at the end of the scene, he
- 15:43Speaker 1: says he'll put a feather in his cap for nearly winning.
- 15:45Speaker 1: But a feather is not an advantage in the Star
- 15:49Speaker 1: Quality Challenge. Indeed, Now Davy's advantage. What do you think
- 15:54Speaker 1: of Davy's advantage? He gets to watch the other actors
- 15:56Speaker 1: performing and hear Jonathan and Melissa's feedback. I think it's
- 16:00Speaker 1: a huge advantage, and Davy is so smart. We'll get
- 16:06Speaker 1: to it. But he does sit there, he takes all
- 16:08Speaker 1: the notes, then he shares with the class so they
- 16:11Speaker 1: can all get on the same page to win, because
- 16:14Speaker 1: you're gonna win as a team challenge. So I think
- 16:17Speaker 1: his advantages is a really good one. I wish they
- 16:23Speaker 1: would have showed more of it, because we've been talking
- 16:26Speaker 1: for weeks. I'm like, as a non actor, I would
- 16:29Speaker 1: love to hear the notes of like what could be
- 16:32Speaker 1: better in a scene? Well, and I will talk about it,
- 16:35Speaker 1: but you know, their notes were different. From mine and
- 16:37Speaker 1: so Davy had the advantage of knowing what they were
- 16:41Speaker 1: looking for. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Okay, let's get into
- 16:44Speaker 1: the star Quality Challenge because I have a lot of thoughts.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Let's take a quick break and we're going to come
- 16:49Speaker 1: back and talk about the star Quality Challenge. Before we
- 16:59Speaker 1: talk star Quality Challenge, I just want to make a note.
- 17:01Speaker 1: We have another break for bro time before and they're
- 17:05Speaker 1: out tossing the football, and we have more time for
- 17:08Speaker 1: these because we have fewer guys, so it takes less
- 17:12Speaker 1: time to get through the challenges. And then this particular
- 17:14Speaker 1: star Quality Challenge is done in teams, so we only
- 17:17Speaker 1: have two scenes as opposed to six individual scenes, so
- 17:20Speaker 1: we have more time to fill in this episode where
- 17:23Speaker 1: you like, Okay, I get it. You all played sports.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Sports can really keep a kid out of trouble. Thank
- 17:28Speaker 1: you for the Saturday Evening special. Well, let's talk star Quality.
- 17:33Speaker 1: They arrive on set, which I can't fully Are they
- 17:38Speaker 1: still outside of Balsam Hill House or are they somewhere else?
- 17:41Speaker 1: It seems like they're outside of Balsam Hill House to me, yes,
- 17:44Speaker 1: because the guys are the other team is waiting inside.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I didn't even clock that you're right they were,
- 17:52Speaker 1: So Jonathan sets up that they're doing like a neighborhood
- 17:55Speaker 1: block party snow shall I wonder who came up with
- 17:58Speaker 1: that snow shall I like that he had explained it
- 18:01Speaker 1: to Melissamilis is like, yeah, I got it. I love
- 18:06Speaker 1: Malasa Melassa Peterman. I love her so much. What they're
- 18:11Speaker 1: the challenges. It's going to be two teams of three
- 18:13Speaker 1: with the same script, and they are asked to make
- 18:17Speaker 1: their own choices energy collaboration. They have to work as
- 18:22Speaker 1: a team, but they also have to you know, kind
- 18:25Speaker 1: of stand out a little bit and also direct the
- 18:30Speaker 1: scene as well. Yes, and cast the scene correct. Our
- 18:36Speaker 1: special Hallmark celebrity guest is Hunter King, and let's be honest,
- 18:40Speaker 1: Robbie is the only one who knows who Hunter King is. Yes, Honestly,
- 18:44Speaker 1: this scene was so telling because Jonathan is listing the
- 18:47Speaker 1: movies she's been in and Robbie's like, is it Hunter King?
- 18:50Speaker 1: As opposed to Jonathan saying it's Hunter King, and they
- 18:52Speaker 1: all react like, oh my gosh, she's my favorite. Robbie knows. Yeah. Yeah,
- 18:57Speaker 1: He's like, oh Holiday touchdown, Yeah, it's Hunter King.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:00Speaker 1: They talk a little bit about working in a team
- 19:03Speaker 1: and what it's like to be in a scene. And
- 19:05Speaker 1: I love how Melissa's like, look, I have the tendency
- 19:07Speaker 1: to steal the scene, and there's a good time to
- 19:10Speaker 1: know when that's called for and when it's not. But
- 19:12Speaker 1: I love that she knows who she is for sure,
- 19:16Speaker 1: for sure, Well she's a comedian actress, right, Yeah, she's
- 19:20Speaker 1: a star, and she does have a tendency to steal
- 19:22Speaker 1: the scene. I'm telling you, I think I need to
- 19:24Speaker 1: watch Happiest Place that she's on with Reba. Maybe do
- 19:29Speaker 1: you watch that show?
- 19:30Speaker 2: No?
- 19:30Speaker 1: I think I might watch it in all my free time. Maybe. So.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Team one is Robbie, Restin and Marcus and Team two
- 19:38Speaker 1: is Angel, Davy and Craig. And I gotta tell you,
- 19:41Speaker 1: almost immediately Team one with Robbie, Restin and Marcus, it's
- 19:45Speaker 1: too many cooks in the kitchen. Robbie and Russen are
- 19:49Speaker 1: jousting a little bit on like directing the scene, and
- 19:53Speaker 1: I gotta tell you, I got the same feeling. Remember
- 19:58Speaker 1: back in the early episode, the Slingshot episode, when Drake
- 20:02Speaker 1: was like, I'm gonna be the slingshot shooter because I
- 20:04Speaker 1: can do it. Blah blah blah blah, it's my childhood
- 20:06Speaker 1: dream whatever. And then Russin just like swoops in and
- 20:09Speaker 1: I was like, I'll do it, and Drakes like okay.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Kind of the same energy here. You know, it seemed
- 20:15Speaker 1: to me Robbie seemed frustrated. To me, it seemed like
- 20:19Speaker 1: he wasn't being heard. He had some ideas, and it
- 20:22Speaker 1: seemed like Robbie felt like he was being run over
- 20:26Speaker 1: a little bit in the process. That was my perception.
- 20:30Speaker 1: I think so too. I think so too. Russin does
- 20:34Speaker 1: a talking head and he's like, I have a good
- 20:35Speaker 1: understanding of how this scene should roll. But then when
- 20:38Speaker 1: Hunter's like, so, who's directing the scene? Russen's like, oh,
- 20:41Speaker 1: everybody contributed. Like Russen's is playing like it was a
- 20:45Speaker 1: team effort, but I think he was driving this train. Well,
- 20:48Speaker 1: that brings up a good question because I'm thinking about
- 20:51Speaker 1: other reality TV shows, and you know when you have
- 20:54Speaker 1: to put somebody in like the pole position and if
- 20:57Speaker 1: you lose, they might go home, right, So do you
- 21:02Speaker 1: think Russen was kind of like stepping into this director position?
- 21:06Speaker 1: But like when the time came when Hunter asks like, oh,
- 21:10Speaker 1: who's you know running the show? And he's like, Oh,
- 21:13Speaker 1: it's a team effort. Do you think he's trying to
- 21:16Speaker 1: protect himself here or do you think he was just
- 21:19Speaker 1: playing nice? Like they Oh, we are a team effort.
- 21:22Speaker 1: I got the impression that the vibe of this show
- 21:25Speaker 1: is as much about the relationships between the guys as
- 21:28Speaker 1: it is about winning the competition, and Rustin knows that,
- 21:31Speaker 1: and so I think, in my opinion, he knows that
- 21:34Speaker 1: it's smart to play as a team. Yeah. The idea
- 21:38Speaker 1: that he didn't want to take the fall for their loss, though,
- 21:41Speaker 1: is an interesting one that wasn't my initial impression. Got it.
- 21:46Speaker 1: It does seem like they're a little more collaborative when
- 21:47Speaker 1: they're working with Hunter. They talk about the scene together.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Marcus suggests a little nose nuzzling scene at one point
- 21:55Speaker 1: and says, if you're comfortable with that, And what I
- 21:58Speaker 1: liked is behind them, Jonathan's like, yes, like he's liking
- 22:01Speaker 1: that Marcus is making the suggestion and adding moments to
- 22:04Speaker 1: the scene like when Jonathan gets hyped. Me too. What's
- 22:08Speaker 1: interesting to me is it's thinking about it. To me,
- 22:11Speaker 1: it seems like, oh, the boyfriend role is the better role.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Before we knew anything, because he gets to interact more
- 22:17Speaker 1: with Hunter. Yeah, but the reality is the boyfriend has
- 22:22Speaker 1: fewer lines and is I think the harder role to
- 22:26Speaker 1: play because everyone's kind of making fun of him. He's
- 22:29Speaker 1: kind of the odd man out, and so I think
- 22:31Speaker 1: Marcus and Angel, who both play the boyfriend, have a
- 22:34Speaker 1: bigger challenge in front of them. It's the character like
- 22:37Speaker 1: the least in the scene. I'm sorry to say, Oh same,
- 22:40Speaker 1: I agree. I absolutely agree. Well, let me tell you
- 22:43Speaker 1: when they finally get into the scene and they're doing
- 22:45Speaker 1: it for me, I thought Robbie and Rustin were lively
- 22:51Speaker 1: and fun to watch. Behind the scenes, you can hear
- 22:54Speaker 1: Jonathan saying that like he wants Robbie and Rustin to
- 22:57Speaker 1: feel more like brothers. I don't know what that means,
- 23:00Speaker 1: because I thought it was believable. I thought they were great.
- 23:04Speaker 1: I thought Robbie of the three was the best in
- 23:07Speaker 1: this scene. Jonathan does say he feels like they're overacting.
- 23:13Speaker 1: That was not my take. Yes, yeah, I didn't. I
- 23:18Speaker 1: hard disagree. Yeah, Robbie was animated in his reactions, but
- 23:22Speaker 1: it didn't feel theatrical to me. I feel like Jonathan
- 23:27Speaker 1: has a very expressive face too when he acts and
- 23:29Speaker 1: so as someone who knows absolutely nothing about anything, did
- 23:33Speaker 1: not feel like they were overacting. I really liked Robbie.
- 23:37Speaker 1: But it is interesting because since Jonathan saw the creation
- 23:41Speaker 1: of the scene from start to finish, we'll talk more
- 23:43Speaker 1: about it, but I wonder how much of the creation
- 23:46Speaker 1: was influencing his feelings about the actual scene itself. Oh. Interesting.
- 23:51Speaker 1: One thing I really liked about these is there's a
- 23:54Speaker 1: clear distinction between when they're rehearsing and when they're recording
- 23:57Speaker 1: the scene. Like you can see the the actual scene
- 24:01Speaker 1: itself changes, like did you see like the black bars
- 24:04Speaker 1: kind of come down and it's like a little more
- 24:06Speaker 1: of a widescreen setup, wow filming, So it's like you're
- 24:10Speaker 1: watching the scene as opposed to watching them film the scene.
- 24:14Speaker 1: I didn't notice that. I really liked it. So it's like,
- 24:18Speaker 1: while we do cut away to Jonathan and Melissa and Davie,
- 24:21Speaker 1: it's like we're watching the scene happen, and this is
- 24:24Speaker 1: the first time it feels like that to me. Ah. Also,
- 24:28Speaker 1: there's a lot going on. They have props, there are
- 24:30Speaker 1: background actors, there's a lot they gotta do. There's a
- 24:32Speaker 1: lot of dialogue that they have to put together in
- 24:34Speaker 1: a really short period of time and a little bit
- 24:37Speaker 1: of improv yeah, because, like if you recall, the challenge
- 24:42Speaker 1: was for them to like make it uniquely their own.
- 24:46Speaker 1: So a lot of things going on. So the Team
- 24:49Speaker 1: two is up, and as you said, Davey takes the
- 24:52Speaker 1: feedback from Jonathan and takes it to his team and
- 24:54Speaker 1: he's like, we got to bring that brotherly energy that
- 24:57Speaker 1: Jonathan felt was missing from the first scene. Did you
- 25:00Speaker 1: think there was brotherly energy missing from those two? No,
- 25:03Speaker 1: I've gotten Robbie. No, I thought they were. Now I
- 25:06Speaker 1: will say I do think Davy and Craig did it better.
- 25:10Speaker 1: They nail it, yes, but I do think that there
- 25:13Speaker 1: was brotherly energy. I did think Robbie and Rustin were
- 25:16Speaker 1: kind of, you know, given it back and forth. I
- 25:19Speaker 1: mean every brother relationship is different, right, Yes, And like
- 25:24Speaker 1: Craig and Davy were kind of more like the goofy,
- 25:27Speaker 1: like ass slapping, I'm gonna give you a wedgie sort
- 25:31Speaker 1: of brotherly relationship, and Robbie and Rusten were more alike,
- 25:36Speaker 1: we're brothers, but we're really two different kinds of people. Yes,
- 25:40Speaker 1: So for me, they both worked for me. They both
- 25:43Speaker 1: worked too. Now my notes say like angel kind of
- 25:46Speaker 1: slides into a directing role, and then I say, my
- 25:48Speaker 1: early money is on Craig over Davy in this scene
- 25:52Speaker 1: because why well, I got to say, Craig really starts
- 25:57Speaker 1: to stand out to me in this scene. He one
- 26:01Speaker 1: hundred percent is so natural, He's so funny. I think
- 26:06Speaker 1: Davy does a good job. I think Craig does an
- 26:08Speaker 1: incredible job. I'm like, I want to watch more of him.
- 26:13Speaker 1: I am enjoying this banter. I'm not uncomfortable by it.
- 26:16Speaker 1: They had kind of added some improv and some extra
- 26:18Speaker 1: lines which I thought were great. I loved Craig. Craig
- 26:22Speaker 1: choking on the cookie and it like you can see
- 26:25Speaker 1: the spits of the cookie flying out of his mouth
- 26:28Speaker 1: was so good. Yeah, that physical comedy was great. I
- 26:32Speaker 1: was blown away by him. And up to this point,
- 26:35Speaker 1: I have liked Craig as a person, and I have
- 26:38Speaker 1: thought that he was humorous, but I have thought he
- 26:40Speaker 1: was like walking that line of always doing too much
- 26:45Speaker 1: and not so much. Now, yeah, you know that's right,
- 26:47Speaker 1: because in when they did that photo shoot with the reindeer,
- 26:51Speaker 1: and he was doing like silly, goofy like photo things
- 26:54Speaker 1: and they weren't getting the photo It's like he's trying
- 26:56Speaker 1: to take these big swings and they weren't landing, but
- 27:00Speaker 1: in this sort of playground in this scene, he was
- 27:06Speaker 1: so good and it really had me wondering because I
- 27:09Speaker 1: was like, Okay, if Craig wins, if Craig becomes the
- 27:13Speaker 1: winner of Finding Mister Christmas, I don't think I would
- 27:15Speaker 1: want to watch him in like a romantic sort of
- 27:20Speaker 1: You want him in the comm I need him in
- 27:23Speaker 1: the commp I need him as Ted Cooper exactly. He's
- 27:26Speaker 1: that guy to me anyway, I was. He totally caught
- 27:30Speaker 1: me off guard. You know, I'm thinking about Craig and
- 27:33Speaker 1: go back to episode one where he's Santini, right, like
- 27:36Speaker 1: that was a big thing. He was the only person
- 27:38Speaker 1: who created a character in that moment and it worked
- 27:40Speaker 1: for him. Right, So he's like, I have to keep
- 27:43Speaker 1: doing this, I have to keep doing more. And then
- 27:46Speaker 1: I think he was like, I've done too much. And
- 27:48Speaker 1: so I feel like now he has swung back into
- 27:52Speaker 1: who we need him to be in this episode. Yeah,
- 27:55Speaker 1: I agree. Now, what did you think about Davy playing
- 27:59Speaker 1: off of Craig, Because there was some commentary from Melissa
- 28:02Speaker 1: that she thought Davey could have done more because Craig
- 28:05Speaker 1: was giving so much. Yeah, I thought Craig was dominating
- 28:11Speaker 1: the scene, and it felt more like Davey was reacting
- 28:15Speaker 1: to him as opposed to giving it on the same level.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Got it. I still thought Davey was good though. I
- 28:22Speaker 1: thought Davey was good too, and I think I hope
- 28:25Speaker 1: this was a confidence boost for him because They're scene
- 28:28Speaker 1: overall really did go so well. I liked it.
- 28:32Speaker 2: I liked it.
- 28:32Speaker 1: I wouldn't. There was nobody that I was like, oh
- 28:34Speaker 1: my gosh, that was terrible. Oh okay, that's interesting because
- 28:38Speaker 1: we didn't talk about it. But I thought Marcus was
- 28:41Speaker 1: kind of stiff in Team one. Well spoiler alert, I
- 28:46Speaker 1: thought Marcus was the weakest, so did I. That being said,
- 28:52Speaker 1: compared to some of the performances we've seen up to
- 28:54Speaker 1: this point, I think we have made some good eliminations. Now,
- 28:59Speaker 1: let me ask you about Angel. How did you think
- 29:01Speaker 1: about his What did you think about his performance? I
- 29:04Speaker 1: liked Angel more than Marcus, but I think this character
- 29:09Speaker 1: that they were playing required them to supplicate themselves a
- 29:13Speaker 1: little bit and be a little bit submissive to the brothers,
- 29:16Speaker 1: and maybe it was the character I didn't connect with
- 29:20Speaker 1: because they're like, oh, my cookies are terrible. Oh, I
- 29:23Speaker 1: didn't love either of the boyfriend portrayals. I'm sorry. I
- 29:27Speaker 1: agree now. Jonathan's feedback about Angel is he says Angel
- 29:33Speaker 1: loses momentum in the scene, and I don't know exactly
- 29:37Speaker 1: what that means, right, does he literally like Peter out
- 29:43Speaker 1: on the line, or does he lose energy or I
- 29:48Speaker 1: would like more explanation in terms of like what that
- 29:52Speaker 1: means as an actor, But I don't know. A Hunter
- 29:55Speaker 1: felt like Angel was a great team player. I like
- 29:59Speaker 1: how they say came in hot in a good way
- 30:01Speaker 1: in that scene. Yeah. But Hunter also said that she
- 30:05Speaker 1: liked Marcus's boyfriend energy, but she thought his energy didn't
- 30:10Speaker 1: match Robbie and Rustin's. Yeah, she wanted him to bring
- 30:12Speaker 1: his energy up a little bit. And I have to
- 30:15Speaker 1: agree with that. And Jonathan said he felt like the
- 30:18Speaker 1: power struggle between Robby and Rusten came through on camera.
- 30:20Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not sure if I agree with that assessment.
- 30:23Speaker 1: I disagree. I did write some notes to myself going
- 30:26Speaker 1: into the elimination. I said I should go I know
- 30:29Speaker 1: who I think should go home, but I have no
- 30:30Speaker 1: idea which direction they're going and then I wrote my
- 30:33Speaker 1: voters for Craig to win the challenge. This is before
- 30:35Speaker 1: before I know, I was just like, I want to
- 30:37Speaker 1: put it on paper and see what's gonna happen. And
- 30:41Speaker 1: so who was your who did you think should go home?
- 30:43Speaker 1: All apologies? I thought it was Marcus based on this
- 30:47Speaker 1: scene alone. Yeah, me too. Let's take a quick break
- 30:50Speaker 1: and we're gonna come right back with our eliminations. They're
- 31:00Speaker 1: in the elimination cave, and I wonder if you notice,
- 31:03Speaker 1: now this could just be editing Jonathan's describing what the
- 31:06Speaker 1: winner brought to the challenge. They cut to Rust and smiling. Yes,
- 31:10Speaker 1: I did see that, Yes I did, as if he
- 31:13Speaker 1: thinks it's going to be him. Yeah, because this is
- 31:15Speaker 1: interesting because Jonathan says he talks about basically the winner
- 31:19Speaker 1: is somebody who played a brother. So we immediately eliminate
- 31:23Speaker 1: Marcus and Angel from contention as a winner, right, and
- 31:27Speaker 1: so then that leaves us the four guys. And then
- 31:30Speaker 1: they show Rust in and he makes like this smile
- 31:33Speaker 1: like he's got it right, didn't you think so? I
- 31:37Speaker 1: that's yes. Now, could that have been from a different moment, Yes,
- 31:40Speaker 1: of course it could have been but to me, it
- 31:43Speaker 1: was like, oh, Rustin thought he had it in the back. Yeah,
- 31:46Speaker 1: but Craig is the winner. Now Craig gets emotional with him.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Were you surprised by this?
- 31:52Speaker 2: Yes?
- 31:52Speaker 1: Were you a little bit? So he talks about how
- 31:57Speaker 1: he thought he was on his way out and now
- 32:00Speaker 1: I think it's emotional and Craig's like, I've worked so
- 32:02Speaker 1: hard so this morning, I thought, well, that's interesting because
- 32:08Speaker 1: I don't have a good idea of a lot of
- 32:10Speaker 1: these guys' resumes acting resumes. Craig on IMDb has eighteen
- 32:16Speaker 1: acting credits. Now several of them are shorts. But he
- 32:19Speaker 1: was in the series How I Met Your Father, He
- 32:22Speaker 1: was in the series The Terminal List, in the series
- 32:25Speaker 1: Rescue High Surf. So he's done some stuff, he's gotten
- 32:29Speaker 1: some roles. Yes, I was very touched by Craig's emotion
- 32:34Speaker 1: and I thought his win was very earned. Oh, definitely earned. Definitely.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Angel and Davy are both marked as safe, and I
- 32:42Speaker 1: wonder if they're marked as safe because they decided that
- 32:46Speaker 1: Craig's whole team should win. Yeah, that's what I was wondering, Like,
- 32:50Speaker 1: it wasn't clear if they were competing as a team right, right,
- 32:53Speaker 1: So if you're the winning person, then your team is safe.
- 32:58Speaker 1: It wasn't It wasn't clear. I think Angel and Davey
- 33:02Speaker 1: are safe because of Craig's win. Yes, I agree. So
- 33:06Speaker 1: the bottom three are then Marcus, Ruston and Robbie, and
- 33:10Speaker 1: I wrote, oh no, and I like, I am like
- 33:12Speaker 1: a stream of consciousness as is happening. I'm like, oh no,
- 33:14Speaker 1: rest and Marcus and Robbie are on the bottom three,
- 33:16Speaker 1: and I disagree with that. I find the next conversation
- 33:20Speaker 1: very interesting. Go ahead. Jonathan asks them how they thought
- 33:25Speaker 1: it went on set, and all three guys, I feel
- 33:30Speaker 1: are doing damage control here and trying to suggest like,
- 33:34Speaker 1: I think we listened to each other's ideas. I think
- 33:37Speaker 1: we worked well as a team. I think we tried
- 33:39Speaker 1: to hear what the other was saying. Nobody wanted to
- 33:41Speaker 1: be like I thought. Rustin kind of overtook things like,
- 33:46Speaker 1: I don't know, this is your this is your last pitch.
- 33:49Speaker 1: You should maybe throw people under the bus. But it's
- 33:51Speaker 1: not that kind of show. It is not that kind
- 33:53Speaker 1: of show. Marcus is told that he is safe, Rustin
- 33:55Speaker 1: and Robbie are a bottom two. I mean, this is
- 33:58Speaker 1: this is worst case scenario right here. Uh huh, and
- 34:03Speaker 1: then Jonathan gets emotional and says that Robbie is the
- 34:05Speaker 1: one going home. I want to talk about a few things.
- 34:09Speaker 1: Go ahead. One. Robbie is an absolute angel here, he says,
- 34:14Speaker 1: all I wanted was to make you proud. Angel. Sobbing
- 34:18Speaker 1: in the background, Jonathan says, you make me proud, and
- 34:21Speaker 1: you make our community proud. I loved everything about that
- 34:25Speaker 1: moment and the way the two of them handled it. Yeah,
- 34:28Speaker 1: I got choked up. Actually. But Jonathan talks about how
- 34:33Speaker 1: Rustin and Robbie's disagreement going into the scene put them
- 34:37Speaker 1: in this position. I disagree, and you disagree that they
- 34:41Speaker 1: should have been in the position because of that. I
- 34:43Speaker 1: think they're trying to play it more than what we
- 34:46Speaker 1: saw right was there? More was their actual contention. I'm
- 34:51Speaker 1: going back and forth because I'm like, Okay, of course,
- 34:54Speaker 1: we don't want to cast someone who's going to be
- 34:56Speaker 1: difficult on set. Of course, that's part of it. You
- 34:59Speaker 1: want you want someone who's fun to work with. Okay,
- 35:04Speaker 1: you know they're trying to figure out all the pieces.
- 35:07Speaker 1: That's why we do the modeling challenge, because we got
- 35:08Speaker 1: to get someone who understands how to work to a
- 35:10Speaker 1: camera on all of that. That's why we do the
- 35:13Speaker 1: press challenge, because these people need to be able to
- 35:15Speaker 1: speak to the press and answer questions and promote the
- 35:17Speaker 1: things they're in. But to me, I just and maybe
- 35:20Speaker 1: it's because it affected Robbie, and I just love my Robbie,
- 35:24Speaker 1: and I feel like his performance was stronger than some
- 35:27Speaker 1: of the other performances who are sticking around. Yeah, I
- 35:31Speaker 1: absolutely agree. I did touch base with Robbie the lobby
- 35:35Speaker 1: who remains the sweetest, has the best attitude, and says
- 35:39Speaker 1: he felt like he landed among the stars with this experience,
- 35:43Speaker 1: which could he be any sweeter? No, I mean he
- 35:47Speaker 1: says that at the end of the episode, and I
- 35:49Speaker 1: feel like it's that kind of vulnerability that makes me
- 35:54Speaker 1: tune in every week. Yeah, right. I love Robbie. I
- 35:59Speaker 1: hate seeing him go home, and he wasn't even like
- 36:02Speaker 1: one of my favorites from the beginning, but he has
- 36:05Speaker 1: just so shown, you know when he has those like
- 36:08Speaker 1: moments when he wins the challenges and he's like, these
- 36:10Speaker 1: guys don't know how much it means to me, Like
- 36:12Speaker 1: that I feel part of their brotherhood or like whatever.
- 36:16Speaker 1: It's like he fully showed who he was and it
- 36:19Speaker 1: just hurts my heart to see him not when. Yeah,
- 36:23Speaker 1: I feel like Robbie, we've really gotten to know on
- 36:25Speaker 1: a personal level. He's been so vulnerable and open and
- 36:28Speaker 1: so I'm so connected with him and I have been
- 36:31Speaker 1: rooting for Robbie since day one. So it hurts me
- 36:35Speaker 1: to see him go home. And unlike last week's elimination,
- 36:40Speaker 1: where I felt like it hurt me but it was
- 36:43Speaker 1: the right choice, this one hurt me and I don't agree. Yeah,
- 36:47Speaker 1: this one hurts and it doesn't make any sense to me. Yeah,
- 36:49Speaker 1: because Robbie has done so well in the competition, not
- 36:53Speaker 1: just in the festive face offs, but in the Star
- 36:55Speaker 1: Quality challenges he won last week. Yeah, it does make
- 37:00Speaker 1: any sense to me. It doesn't make any sense to me. Nope,
- 37:04Speaker 1: it doesn't. I love this dumb show. Well, Hey, thank

- 37:29Speaker 1: guy is gone? You know, do you think might take it?
- 37:32Speaker 1: Craig and Davey both really impressed me this week, but
- 37:35Speaker 1: I think there's something undeniable about Rustin's appeal. Yeah, especially
- 37:41Speaker 1: based on the fan reaction. Right same, I'm not ready. Well,
