- 0:01Welcome to Rick and That Michelle Chick, the weekly
- 0:05podcast where your hosts, Rick and Michelle, confidently dive
- 0:10into topics they know absolutely nothing about and somehow make
- 0:15it sound legit. They're not experts.
- 0:17They're not qualified. Honestly, they barely googled
- 0:20it. So grab a drink, lower your
- 0:23expectations, and let's pretend this counts as content.
- 0:28So buckle up. Facts are optional, but the
- 0:31bullshit? That's premium grade.
- 0:34This is Rick and that Michelle chick.
- 0:45Well, today I have a headache I had.
- 0:48A hangover. It's not Rick and it's not Rick,
- 0:51so that's good. It's not Rick.
- 0:53I have AI have a hangover. Are my are my eyes still puppy?
- 0:56I did the little eye. Oh, hi, Roxy.
- 1:00That's Barkley. Oh, no, that's Barkley.
- 1:01I did the little eye things this morning, but that's from crying.
- 1:07'Cause it was that bad of a headache.
- 1:09Well, no. Oh, for the Mariners.
- 1:12The Mariners, No. OK.
- 1:15I'm hungover because I started drinking, which, OK, which to be
- 1:20fair, I was gonna be drinking whether they won or lost.
- 1:23It was either gonna be drinking in celebration or drinking to
- 1:26drown my sorrows like that. Well, what?
- 1:28What was gonna happen? As of us recording this podcast,
- 1:32that game was last night that the Mariners lost to the Toronto
- 1:37Blue Jays Game 7, which I knew it was going to go to seven
- 1:40games in the ALCS championships and we lost and yeah, but by one
- 1:48run. It was crazy.
- 1:50It's crazy. And and you know, what's kind of
- 1:53funny is it's like, I know that you and Todd and your dad or,
- 1:58but we're just massive Mariners fans.
- 2:01So my heart breaks for the fans. Not not for the team and not the
- 2:05team. Yeah, it it really comes down to
- 2:07the peoples whose heart got broke to me.
- 2:09I mean, I think it's everyone. And so I to be honest, like I
- 2:14don't think I've ever cried over a team losing like in my life,
- 2:19except for last night. I mean, probably because I was a
- 2:21little bit drunk, but also because also because it meant so
- 2:26much to my dad. And so as I'm like crying in my
- 2:30in my head, I could hear Tom Hanks's voice.
- 2:33There's no crying in baseball, you know, But I'm just like,
- 2:38like literally crying. But I think part of that is
- 2:41because my plan this, it was my plan, OK, I don't know if it was
- 2:45going to happen or not. My plan was if the Mariners went
- 2:48to the World Series, I was going to get a ticket, buy a ticket.
- 2:52I know they're going to cost like a gazillion dollars, Sell a
- 2:55kidney, sell a Louis Vuitton first.
- 2:57Whatever it took at this point to go go to one game, That's
- 3:02all. That's all I wanted.
- 3:04And I was going to take some of my dad's ashes, and I was trying
- 3:08to figure out over this last couple of playoff games, like,
- 3:12OK, OK, if they really make it, how am I gonna take some of his
- 3:17ashes into the stadium without them getting, you know, like,
- 3:22flagged? I'm like, OK, I'm just gonna,
- 3:24like, scoop him out into a zip lock, like put a little bit in a
- 3:29Ziploc baggy, and then I could just put it in my pants pocket
- 3:31because they're not going to, like, physically search.
- 3:33Me. They're not.
- 3:34They're not. So I could just sneak him in
- 3:36easily that way. Like I don't want to put him in
- 3:39anything metal, not some container or anything like that
- 3:42that's going to get flagged. Yeah.
- 3:44Through security that they're going to be like, you cannot
- 3:47bring human remains into the ballpark.
- 3:52So that was my plan and they were going to make it all the
- 3:54way. So I think it's the other reason
- 3:57why I was, you know, extra emotional and I was drunk, so it
- 4:01all kind of collided. But but it's one of those things
- 4:04which it's like the crazy. OK, so it's you know, it's it's
- 4:08seven game series, right? So what's crazy is let's say,
- 4:13let's say they were already down by 4, then everybody would have
- 4:16not cared. You know, it's because it was
- 4:19like, no, I mean, they would have cared, but I'm saying that
- 4:22that would you rather have it go to the final nail biter like it
- 4:25was or of. Course, because that's the
- 4:28Mariners. Oh yeah.
- 4:29Or would you like, or would you like to go after the first
- 4:32couple games? OK, Yeah, they're not.
- 4:33They're they're done, you know? Well, I mean the Dodgers one in
- 4:36four games, so I mean. That's what I'm saying, yeah.
- 4:39So what's a what's a better? Yeah, what's a better?
- 4:41What's a better way to see it is your team just walks in, wins
- 4:43four in a row and says we're done or one final run.
- 4:47Yes, the Mariners way, it's down.
- 4:50It's a nail biter. That is the Mariners way and I
- 4:52saw. Everybody on there, you know,
- 4:54bag it on. Oh, this person should have done
- 4:56this. And this person, I mean you.
- 4:57Can't Monday morning quarterback.
- 4:59I know I saw that too and I was like just just let it just
- 5:02settle for everyone. Think it's just think about so
- 5:06this is what I always say about professional athletes, because
- 5:08everybody thinks everybody thinks they're a professional
- 5:10athlete. So there's a reason why it's a
- 5:1398 mile an hour fastball. It's 100 miles an hour.
- 5:16You and I, I mean, I would, I would challenge anybody normal
- 5:20you go pick up a ball and see if you can go make it go 100 miles
- 5:23an hour. It's the same, it's the same
- 5:25thing. But even when you watch the
- 5:28worst team in the in baseball, the worst team in hockey, the
- 5:31worst team in football, they're so far ahead of the average
- 5:35person, even the even the worst of the worst.
- 5:39Yes, like, like you like again, it's like you can't do what
- 5:44what? These athletes are just amazing,
- 5:47if that makes sense. Right, No, but yes, I understand
- 5:51what you're saying and I know like the fans, I I don't, and
- 5:54this is in every sport. It's it's like they're entitled
- 5:59to, you know, my team has to do XYZ or has to be this or has to
- 6:04whatever. And if they aren't, then they
- 6:08get pissed off about it. But this is sports.
- 6:11This is what happens. Yes, it sucks horribly, but it's
- 6:15just, it's how it is. I always, I always, I always
- 6:18tell people when they're because that's the the big conspiracy.
- 6:20All this stuff is scripted and different things like that.
- 6:23And it's like, there's no way. There's just I when you do
- 6:25football or wrestle, I'm not wrestling.
- 6:27Yes, that's choreographer. I get it.
- 6:28That's choreography and all that.
- 6:30Well, WWE wrestling, but they still get wrestling.
- 6:34But they can still get hurt. I mean, oh, yes, yeah.
- 6:37I mean, and then and then, yeah. Because I remember it was so
- 6:39funny when I was a little kid. My, my Grandpa Fred.
- 6:42Grandpa Fred, he'd be looking at me and he'd be Virgil.
- 6:45That's real that that wrestling is real.
- 6:48That is real. And my grandfather, so the day
- 6:50he died, believed that WWE was real wrestling.
- 6:52I said, I said, Grandpa, come on.
- 6:54I mean, yes, they're athletes and you can't do it and you
- 6:58can't do what they do and they're trained, but but they
- 7:00know what they're going to do. And then sometimes, like you
- 7:02said, it goes wrong and they do get broken bones.
- 7:06They get a broken leg. I mean, it's not in that sense,
- 7:08it's not make believe is anything can happen and so.
- 7:12It's over exaggerating or making it more than it is making it
- 7:16grand. That's what everybody does.
- 7:19When you do this on our podcast, you do it on the radio.
- 7:22It's what you do. I was thinking about one of the
- 7:25pitches and my Co host Patty had said, man, did you see that
- 7:29pitch where it it barely missed the guy at 100 miles an hour?
- 7:32I wonder. I mean, that's got her.
- 7:34I mean, or he's bringing bone. Yeah, yeah.
- 7:36What 100 miles an hour and they hit a boat.
- 7:38I mean, hit, hit a leg. It's it's going to break
- 7:41something. So yeah, it was, it was, it was
- 7:45fun to watch. And again, I did my whole my, my
- 7:50usual like I don't want to jinx it.
- 7:51So I I'll leave. The game did you leave?
- 7:54I did. Of course.
- 7:55I'm like, Oh no, but they were ahead.
- 7:57So they were ahead when I so I thought, oh, I'll pop over to
- 8:01the Seahawks game, watch a little bit of Monday Night
- 8:03Football or whatever, right? And then I popped.
- 8:06Back and then and then when I popped.
- 8:08Back in, they were still ahead, so they had gotten to what was
- 8:11they'd gotten to the 8th or whatever.
- 8:12And I'm like, and they were still OK.
- 8:14And I said, OK, they're going to they're going to do this.
- 8:15And then I was like watching some other football.
- 8:18So anyway, yeah, for for you Mariners fans, I understand the
- 8:21crying and I don't know, and the drunkenness.
- 8:24I guess I'll give you a pass on the being a being drunken sailor
- 8:29I took. But I like your idea.
- 8:30Yeah. And I like your ideas that that
- 8:32no one's going to search if you take a little bit of ashes.
- 8:34Do you realize that they had a problem?
- 8:35I think we talked about Disneyland, where Disneyland had
- 8:40asked people to quit. Quit dropping, you know.
- 8:43In Haunted Mansion, which is what I originally had wanted to
- 8:46do with my ashes, which We could talk about this.
- 8:49Yeah, we could. Talk about ashes, right?
- 8:51Yes, yes, there's something that I wanted to talk about.
- 8:53So yes, so that's originally what I wanted done with my ashes
- 8:58after I died was that make the kids take them to Disney and
- 9:01sprinkle them and haunt a mansion.
- 9:03But but I don't want them to get permanently banned from Disney
- 9:06because they are human remains. And Disney has had to say stop,
- 9:09please stop doing this to people.
- 9:11But so on my Instagram, this just happened like this week.
- 9:16I was just scrolling along mindlessly, aimlessly, and this
- 9:19video pops up that your ashes can be made into fireworks.
- 9:24And at first, OK, the video, the video looked AI.
- 9:28So I went, is this real or is this fake right now?
- 9:31Now you have to question everything.
- 9:33And so I did some research and it sure as shit is there's like
- 9:37two companies. So you send your ashes in and
- 9:41then they mix or make them into salt.
- 9:43Mix them into salt because obviously you can't be exploding
- 9:45human remains right in the air. So they mix you into this salt
- 9:50and then it gets put in with the fireworks powder and then you're
- 9:53made into fireworks. This is what I want done with my
- 9:57ashes. So I want to have this grand
- 9:59celebration of life. People going to be eating and
- 10:01drinking and dancing and then at the end of the night I am going
- 10:06to be the show of fireworks lighting up the sky.
- 10:10I think that I think that is a great plan for my end of life.
- 10:14There there is so many I've I've seen variations, so I've seen
- 10:18that you could be a a vinyl record.
- 10:20Fireworks. Yeah, I've seen the records.
- 10:22I've. Seen the record, I've seen the.
- 10:24Diamond I've seen all that, but I have not seen the fireworks.
- 10:27I have not seen that that either.
- 10:29Well, I think I think anything is possible.
- 10:30Then I'm going back. I'm circling back to your
- 10:32Disneyland trip. When you're talking about
- 10:35Haunted Mansion. Well, they probably, yeah, they
- 10:36could probably find those. But why not when you're on a
- 10:39small world where it's the water and just as you're going down?
- 10:42The view in the water. Well, what, why, why would I
- 10:45mean, why is is haunted? Is the Haunted Mansion your
- 10:48favorite? Is that why you have to be in
- 10:49the Haunted Mansion? It's not my favorite, but I mean
- 10:53that just seems like. That makes sense.
- 10:55I appropriate. Place.
- 10:56Yes. I got it.
- 10:57I got you. So not a, but I was thinking
- 10:59about, I think my favorite. Ride, which this is funny
- 11:02because in your book it's not. Your favorite ride would be
- 11:06Space Mountain, yes. Is that not the?
- 11:09Is that not the greatest story it?
- 11:11Is yes, that. And as I'm reading this, I'm
- 11:14like, I am never going to an amusement park with you because
- 11:16you will not ride the rides and we ride all the rides.
- 11:20So that is the rule. Yeah.
- 11:21So the craziness of that, that whole situation was I've been on
- 11:25trimmers and I've and I've been on a couple of rides for, for,
- 11:29for, for Logan, for Logan. So we went a couple years ago
- 11:33and it's a Silverwood. And I, I am not, I'm to this day
- 11:38still not a fan. I'm just not.
- 11:40But I want to make everybody happy.
- 11:41And sure as shit, not just the fact that we were going to go on
- 11:45the, the, the roller coaster, which is perfectly fine.
- 11:46I'm like, OK, fine, we'll done the roller coaster.
- 11:48That shitting thing was going backwards.
- 11:52No, no, I mean I. Wrote it that go forward and
- 11:56then stop, yeah. So it just happened to me
- 11:58because it was Halloween or scary when it was in reverse.
- 12:01And I'm like son of a like, I don't know.
- 12:03I mean, if I have to go forward, fine, I'll go forward.
- 12:05I guess I'll do this, right? No, it had to go backwards.
- 12:08So I'm getting backward. I hate it.
- 12:11I hate. Well, I don't.
- 12:12I don't like, I don't like any of that uncertainty.
- 12:14It's just not. It's just not fun to me.
- 12:15Well, yeah, no wonder you don't like Space Mountain because you
- 12:17are in the dark. Well, and so, and that's what
- 12:20makes that story so hilarious because up to that point, as a
- 12:23little kid there, there was no ride if you knew my personality.
- 12:27It was like, oh, I. I wasn't afraid of anything like
- 12:30like I was not afraid and I was very cocky.
- 12:34I, you know me, I was very vocal, very vocal, yes, vocal
- 12:39that I was not afraid of anything.
- 12:41And so we get on Space Mountain and holy crap, I cried like I
- 12:44cried called well. Shayley calling.
- 12:47For my mommy, call for my mommy. Shaylee went on which was 5 and
- 12:51she loved it, so she had her arms up.
- 12:54I could feel them smacking me because he whips you around.
- 12:56You can't. Yeah.
- 12:57Because you're in the dark, so you don't know when these
- 12:59corners are coming. And she was laughing the entire
- 13:02time. But we set our kids up
- 13:04especially like, Haunted Mansion.
- 13:07You know, we kind of a lot of kids start crying and get scared
- 13:10on that ride. And so we made sure that they
- 13:14there was no surprises for them, that they were prepared.
- 13:18Yeah. So they were prepared for
- 13:19Haunted Mansion and for Space Mountain, especially when you're
- 13:225. And so that it wasn't scary to
- 13:25them. It was fun.
- 13:27I, you know, and, and so for me, if you're asking my favorite
- 13:31Disney ride, of course, just just out of nostalgia, it's Mr.
- 13:35Toad's Wild Ride. I.
- 13:36Love Mr. Toad, I loved it as a little kid and there's photos of
- 13:39Logan and I at different ages or Logan at different ages because
- 13:43we went probably 3, we probably went three times in his youth.
- 13:47And so that I have photos of each time in front of that
- 13:49statue, the Mr. Toad statue. But Mr. Toad for me, even as
- 13:52adults, one of my one of my favorites.
- 13:54And then even as a kid, what was it?
- 13:56The Matterhorn one was was still there.
- 13:58I didn't have. Matterhorn was fine.
- 14:00Matterhorn was. Fine, which I know is not
- 14:02technically a ride, but that's probably like my non roller
- 14:05coaster E thrill ride, right is the traditional tiki room to
- 14:11make everybody go. Let me go to the tiki room and
- 14:14it's a small world. I make everybody ride that.
- 14:16Too. It's a small world that yeah,
- 14:18that's fun. Pirates of the Caribbean,
- 14:21Indiana Jones, those are all like, those are for me.
- 14:25Those are all tame compared to Space Mountain.
- 14:27Yes. But then across and many years
- 14:30ago, we. Went making credit coaster then
- 14:33because that one goes upside down.
- 14:34Right. So here's The funny thing is we
- 14:36took Logan when he was probably about 10 years old and that's
- 14:39when California Adventure had come.
- 14:42And so, yeah, I did Soren over California, which was perfectly
- 14:45fine. But I but the the the roller
- 14:47coasters, Pokey is huge into those.
- 14:49And she did all that with Logan because I was like, Nope, you're
- 14:52not getting me on that. Yeah, but I, but I mean there
- 14:56are like as a kid when so you had the zipper is when we were
- 15:00kids at the fair, you had the yo-yo.
- 15:03And the the Ring of Fire or super loop.
- 15:06It was the Super loop when. I.
- 15:09Love that I would ride that thing over and over.
- 15:12No, no, none of that. None of that.
- 15:15None of that. Thanks.
- 15:15Thanks to Space Mountain. Took it right.
- 15:17Took it right. You know, I still, I still, I
- 15:20still drive like a bat out of hell, you know?
- 15:21But I, but I can't. Can't get on those fast moving
- 15:25rides anymore. And and having it go and have it
- 15:27go have it go backwards either I just get that kind of crap so
- 15:31but do. You think you would be fine on
- 15:33Guardians of the Galaxy Because that's a drop ride?
- 15:35Did you ride? That I got drop.
- 15:37So, so universal. They used to have the Jurassic
- 15:39Park, so I did that one where you drop.
- 15:40What's the one? Oh my gosh, it's not Matterhorn,
- 15:43it's the other one. It's the it's the one where you
- 15:44get wet. Splash Mountain.
- 15:46Splash Mountain. Yeah, yeah.
- 15:47No, no, I've been on. I've been.
- 15:49I've been on. The Galaxy is just you go up and
- 15:51then you just drop. I mean, you're dropping.
- 15:54Yeah, those are those are fun. I mean, so, but yeah, if you're
- 15:57talking Mr. Toad's my favorite as an adult, Indiana Jones is
- 16:00super cool. I had a buddy, sadly, he passed
- 16:02away. His name was Bob.
- 16:04He he had been on it thousands of times.
- 16:06So he had a year pass, even though he lived in Lewiston, he
- 16:10would fly down about every three weeks and go to Disneyland.
- 16:14That was his one place. He had a yearly pass.
- 16:15And then he just rode Indiana Jones all weekend when he was
- 16:18there. And so he had, and there was
- 16:20some little old lady that apparently got the award that
- 16:22was ahead of him that ended up getting the award.
- 16:25And he was always in competition with this little old lady who
- 16:28ended up getting. Hilarious.
- 16:29But she lives there. She lives in Anaheim and goes,
- 16:32yeah. I see.
- 16:33I follow a lot of the influencers that actually live
- 16:36there and have the season passes and they go every single day.
- 16:40And and and. Yep, and they get awards and
- 16:43different. Things and then during COVID
- 16:45like they were losing their minds.
- 16:47I bet, I bet. I think it's, I think it's
- 16:50fascinating too that that you have like, like you said, you
- 16:53have the hardcore people that go every single day and then you
- 16:55have people that live in Anaheim that have never gone.
- 16:58Like no that are probably super irritated and hate the fact that
- 17:02they have to deal with all these tourists all the time like
- 17:05interrupting their daily lives. So so have you guys done Disney
- 17:09World? Yes we did one time.
- 17:13That was almost 10 years ago actually was about 11:00-ish,
- 17:1811-12 ish. So what do you what do you like?
- 17:20What do you? No, I've never Disneyland is all
- 17:23I ever did when I was a kid. So but and then Logan a couple
- 17:27times. So I mean, I probably I might
- 17:29have been six times maybe in my life.
- 17:32I mean, it's not like I've gone to Disneyland, Disneyland a lot.
- 17:34But so do you prefer Disney World or Disneyland?
- 17:38Disneyland because it's easier to get around.
- 17:41Disney World is so massive and you know, each land or world is
- 17:46so big. It's really hard to, you know,
- 17:49if you're in Magic Kingdom one day, but then you want to go to
- 17:54Hollywood Studios or whatever it is the next day or Animal
- 17:57Kingdom, you have to take this bus and this and that.
- 18:01And so, and we just, we have gone, we go to Disneyland almost
- 18:06every year or every other year. And so we're very familiar with
- 18:09how to get around. And so I think that's part of
- 18:12it. It's just, it's just easier for
- 18:13us because we know the lay of the land.
- 18:15Basically, we know the lay of the tips and tricks.
- 18:19For, for me, it's kind of funny is my favorite because as I
- 18:23talked to my book, I did. I was very fortunate that my,
- 18:26my, my foster parents took me to California quite a few times.
- 18:29For me, Universal Studios in the in the late 70s, early 80s where
- 18:34you could like there was Kit and there was Battlestar Galactica.
- 18:38And I have always been, I've always been fascinated on, on
- 18:42how they make movies and TV sitcoms and, and all of those on
- 18:46all those things. So for me, when I've done the
- 18:49when I've done the Southern California thing, I always hit
- 18:52up Universal Studios because it's just absolutely one of my
- 18:54one of my favorites. Well, my first time going to
- 18:57Disneyland wasn't until I was 18 because my parents obviously
- 19:00couldn't afford to take us or didn't take us or whatever.
- 19:03So as an adult, and yeah, I'm turning to this child when I go
- 19:08there, probably because I didn't get to go there as a child and
- 19:11it kind of irritates Shaylee now that she's older.
- 19:14The last time we went, you see one of the characters like, Oh
- 19:17my God, it's Tigger. And I mean, that's literally how
- 19:20I react. And she'll just go.
- 19:22It's just a person in a costume. Oh my gosh, it's.
- 19:26Like I'm going to smack you. I, I think it was, it was kind
- 19:30of fun because we took Logan when he was about four and then
- 19:34we took Logan when he was 10. So we got a nice span there for
- 19:38him. And then I, and then I took him
- 19:39when he was 13, when I was in Bakersfield and he was the
- 19:43biggest pill ever. Like, no, he, I, he was, I think
- 19:48he was mad about the divorce. No, no, no, it's funny.
- 19:52It's interesting now because you know, he's 31 years old and 3031
- 19:55years old. And we went out to lunch one
- 19:57time and he goes, he goes, Dad, you know what my biggest regret
- 19:59is? And I said, what's that?
- 20:01He goes, when I came to California to visit you, he goes
- 20:03and you took me to Disneyland and I refuse to do anything.
- 20:07He goes. He goes.
- 20:08He goes, he goes, I was at Disneyland.
- 20:10I was at Disneyland. Why didn't I?
- 20:12And he did. He was such a jerk.
- 20:15Like, I'm like, don't you want to go on a ride?
- 20:17No. Do you want to do this?
- 20:18No. So we literally didn't do
- 20:19anything in Disneyland. Yeah.
- 20:22I mean, I I mean, and he was, and it was just, and he was, and
- 20:24he was pissy about it. He was not just about not
- 20:27wanting to do anything. He was pissy about it, and it's
- 20:30kind of funny to see him at 31 go, you know, dude, I, I
- 20:33remember, you know, not being, you know, Yeah, you're in
- 20:37Disneyland. Dude.
- 20:38Right, so the. Happiest place on Earth?
- 20:40It is the happiest place on Earth, so supposed.
- 20:43To be. Yeah, so I mean, he was, I mean,
- 20:45it's funny, I talked to Logan a lot these days or I've talked to
- 20:48Logan a lot and he goes, I don't remember any of my childhood.
- 20:50I'm like, what are you talking about?
- 20:52So we which is. Surprising, because usually
- 20:54people who have good childhoods remember them.
- 20:57People who don't. Well, he says he had a horrible,
- 20:59he says he has a horrible childhood, but he says he had a
- 21:02horrible childhood. But one of the things that we
- 21:04did for him, so when he was, gosh, when he was 10, or I think
- 21:08it was 4 or 10, one of the one of the trips we made, we did the
- 21:11entire run of Southern California.
- 21:13So we saved up. His mom and I saved up $4000
- 21:17back when $4000 was a lot of money.
- 21:19And we did. We did Knott's Berry Farm, we
- 21:21did Universal Studios, we did Disneyland, we did the San Diego
- 21:25Zoo, we did SeaWorld, we did the whole run.
- 21:28We went to Hollywood. So I've been at Hollywood and
- 21:30Vine. I've been those.
- 21:31Now, I have not been in a billion years, but we literally
- 21:34did the whole Southern. We took 10 days when he was a
- 21:38little kid and did the whole Southern Cal.
- 21:39He went to the wax museum. It was so funny as we had saved
- 21:43so much money for this thing that, that, that the cool thing
- 21:46was it was like we didn't spend the money we thought we were
- 21:49going to spend. So we each and said, oh, you can
- 21:51buy whatever you want because we saved up the money.
- 21:54And it's amazing when you actually have all that money.
- 21:56You really, there's nothing like like coats and jackets and
- 21:59shoes. And we didn't buy any of those
- 22:01things because, yeah, we could have, but we decided we, you
- 22:04know, so but he got to do that entire run.
- 22:07And to this day he's like, I don't, I don't remember it.
- 22:09I don't, I don't recall doing any of that.
- 22:12I'm like, how can you not? I think he's, I think.
- 22:14He's bullshit and he was 10 at that time.
- 22:16He was either. He was, yeah.
- 22:18He was probably 10, yeah. He should.
- 22:21I mean usually you don't form memories until you're 3 or 4, so
- 22:24I could see him not remembering when he was 4, but at 10 he
- 22:28should at least remember most of that trip.
- 22:31He was, he told me. He goes.
- 22:32Fun parts of the trip. No, he goes, Jed.
- 22:34He goes. I went to Disneyland without you
- 22:36and I went, no, you didn't. And he's like, yeah, yeah, I
- 22:39did. You were.
- 22:40He goes. You weren't.
- 22:40You were never around. And I said there's a photo of me
- 22:43and your mom and Cheryl and Jen and you at Disneyland at 10
- 22:46years old. And so I had to pull out this
- 22:49photo because he just goes, I didn't.
- 22:50I don't remember you on this trip.
- 22:52You weren't there. That's crazy.
- 22:55So anyway, so yeah, favorite. Yeah.
- 22:57So, so yeah. Oh, and you know, just so
- 23:01Disneyland, I know that that that's a that's a special place
- 23:04for a lot of people. Yes, and we didn't take our kids
- 23:08until they were old, until they were tall enough to ride all the
- 23:11rides. So you can actually cut their
- 23:12own this. One like 5-6 years old but now
- 23:16that we have this new grandbaby for their first yes for their
- 23:20first birthday, I do want to take them and so when I told my
- 23:25son he said hey we didn't get to go and so we.
- 23:28Were granddaddy that's different.
- 23:29That's right, I said, you're my child, this is my grandchild and
- 23:33there's no rules. Rules don't apply now like.
- 23:35Grandbaby going every year. I don't care that's.
- 23:38Right. That's right.
- 23:39If I want to take them now when they're four months old, they
- 23:42could go. But yeah.
- 23:44But we even did. We even did when we did our
- 23:46California run all those years ago, we even did the breakfast,
- 23:49character breakfast. I mean we.
- 23:50We love, we do the character breakfast every year.
- 23:53Yeah, we shot for the moon. Like, yeah, we, yeah, we bought,
- 23:56we went to a travel agency. We bought, we bought a big
- 23:59package basically. So we went to the travel agency
- 24:01and said, OK, we want to hit up all these attractions.
- 24:05And so they gave us a number and that's that's what we did.
- 24:08So yeah. So and then and then to have
- 24:11your kid not remember any of it, it's like, OK, I'm sorry.
- 24:14Oh no, but but I remember my own childhood getting to go.
- 24:18Now of course, when when we got adopted out, we didn't do any
- 24:22just. So yeah, that all.
- 24:23Stopped. So no, I'm in the same.
- 24:25No, I suddenly went from from and that that was the IT I it's
- 24:30hard. I think that would be a super
- 24:32shocking. Especially yes, I struggled can
- 24:36can I struggled with it by the fact that that you have these
- 24:39one and it's not a it's not about the money.
- 24:41It had nothing to do with money. It's.
- 24:42Not about getting to go to Disneyland or any.
- 24:44Other no, no. It's just that it was so weird
- 24:48that being in the school play, playing T-ball, all these
- 24:53things, being in band, because I was in band for one year.
- 24:56I was in band for one year. I got to do all these things
- 25:00because of these wonderful foster parents.
- 25:02And even and even I'll even give my real dad credit in fifth
- 25:05grade when we remember in the book, we moved back together for
- 25:08one year. I was in band.
- 25:10So I had my I had my drum set, you know, so, so for that year,
- 25:14that was a pretty good year with with all my brothers and
- 25:16siblings, with all my siblings together.
- 25:18It's when we got when we got adopted out where it just went
- 25:20and and talk about it. One thing was weird because it
- 25:26was weird being going from I was actually a fairly popular kid in
- 25:29elementary school, like or at least cool enough.
- 25:33I mean cool enough, you know, I wouldn't say popular, but but no
- 25:36one, no one picked on me. No one bothered me.
- 25:38I was a cool kid. I, you know, because of my
- 25:41foster parents. I mean, I, I had good clothes,
- 25:43you know, I was well taken care of.
- 25:45Wasn't like I looked like a schlub or anything.
- 25:47And I didn't stink or anything. And then and then for me, it was
- 25:50such a drastic turn of events to be like you said, your
- 25:54environment makes you who you are and getting shoved into that
- 25:58environment and then suddenly you become that environment.
- 26:00And I and I, that was my hardest struggle more than anything else
- 26:03is this through that whole thing, I was like, this isn't
- 26:05me. This isn't.
- 26:06This isn't who I am. Or this isn't how life is a or
- 26:10how kids should be treated. I mean, you know, but don't
- 26:15know. I mean, for you, you experience
- 26:17where for me, I just saw it through going to stay the night
- 26:21at my friend's house or my grandparents.
- 26:24I only saw it through that where you experienced and then it was
- 26:29yanked away from you when you were put in this environment.
- 26:32Right. And so, and that's, and that's
- 26:34one of the interesting things that, that it's so interesting
- 26:36is because once I, once I had that the adopted parents, I
- 26:38remember being pulled aside so many times in that hole that
- 26:42those years and being told you're arrogant, you know,
- 26:46you're cocky, all these different things.
- 26:48And I, and I always looked at it was confidence.
- 26:50They had, they had given me confidence, you know, that I,
- 26:53that I could achieve or do anything I wanted to do in my
- 26:56life. And my, and whatever I picked to
- 26:57do is my, my, my, as long as you're a good person, that's all
- 27:00that mattered to them. And you'll be president.
- 27:02You're going to be president, Right, right.
- 27:04And they, and they told me that they, they filled my mind with
- 27:07all yeah, whatever, whatever you want to achieve, you can achieve
- 27:11it. And then to have someone turn
- 27:12around and just tear that house down.
- 27:15So, so I understand the want to, to take your kids to Disneyland
- 27:19and to share those experiences. It's, I think it's, it's not
- 27:23even about the money. It's the importance of just.
- 27:27It's those memories, as long as they remember.
- 27:31Right. Well, yeah.
- 27:32And it's like, and it's one of those things where for me and
- 27:34Logan, I, hey, I guess I kind of messed up a little bit, but I
- 27:37wanted to give him a, a normal as possible childhood.
- 27:40Great. Yeah.
- 27:41So of course. I, I mean, yeah, and, and it did
- 27:45kind of fall apart, I guess in his early teen years.
- 27:48But up until then it was, I mean, up until then he did.
- 27:52We even went to the what's the jousting thing?
- 27:55Oh, the medieval times. Yes, Logan's been to me.
- 27:58Logan's been to me. I mean, he's been, he's been to
- 28:01all these places and then they have to say I don't remember any
- 28:04of it. So.
- 28:06Dang. I know.
- 28:07I mean, I guess, I guess you're going to have to take him again
- 28:08as a 30 year. Old I I so, so I did think about
- 28:11that. I thought about, you know, I
- 28:13thought one of the Christmas presents I've thought about.
- 28:15That's what we do. We.
- 28:16Don't buy presents. We go on a trip and it doesn't
- 28:20have to be expensive. It could just be Silverwood so
- 28:22that it's making those memories together.
- 28:24It's not about just getting stuff.
- 28:29I know, I wonder. I wonder how it makes sense.
- 28:31Yeah. Yeah.
- 28:31So. So I thought, well, maybe we'll
- 28:33do that. Done that, you know.
- 28:34But I still, I still root for you to put your put your ashes
- 28:37in the small world water there. I think you should now.
- 28:40I'm going to be fireworks. That's changed.
- 28:43I love that. Well, and, and I there are
- 28:45interesting things. So Kiss, the rock band Kiss, you
- 28:49know, they once put their blood in a comic book they made.
- 28:53There's a Kiss comic book from the 1970s, and they used their
- 28:56blood in the mix of the ink, which is kind of cool.
- 28:59That's kind of interesting. Which you can have ashes mixed
- 29:02into a tattoo ink and then have a.
- 29:04Tattoo run so many, there's so many different things.
- 29:06There was a comic book writer who sadly passed away at cancer
- 29:08like at 45 and his ashes is mixed in a comic book run of his
- 29:12different things like that. So, all right, so I guess we'll
- 29:15mark you down for some fireworks.
- 29:17OK, OK. Well I bought myself Mariners.
- 29:20Hopefully I can get it open treat last week so we're going
- 29:26to do an unboxing I. Bought this unboxing.
- 29:28I know when you agreed to this podcast you didn't expect you'd
- 29:31have to sit through an unboxing. Well, I want to see an unboxing
- 29:35while you eat a salad. Oh my gosh.
- 29:37No, no. Like a tock TikTok video big.
- 29:41Easy. Hey guys watch us eat dinner.
- 29:43Rick's eating steak and and are little.
- 29:46Kids watching other little kids play with toys I just yeah, we
- 29:49missed the boat on a. Lot of this.
- 29:51The YouTube, No, the YouTube channel where you're watching
- 29:53somebody else play a video game. Yeah, yes, Come on.
- 29:57OK, OK, here's. The box.
- 29:58Let's see, for those of you that have video, those of you that
- 30:01don't, Rick's just going to have to.
- 30:04Am I going to recognize it? Look at look at the cute little
- 30:07tissue and label. OK, well, yeah, it's it's
- 30:11Mariner merch. I treated myself to this last
- 30:14week when they were. Imagine is it like a Louis
- 30:16Vuitton's Mariner's purse or something?
- 30:20No. Better not be Foo.
- 30:22Foo. I hope it's cute.
- 30:23Of course it is. It's like a blingy little
- 30:26Mariners hat. Oh, yeah, There you go.
- 30:28Bling. Yeah, you got the rhinestone.
- 30:30OK, Reba. Oh, my gosh.
- 30:32Everything is rhinestone. You haven't seen the back of my
- 30:34computer. That's cool.
- 30:37Cute. Yeah.
- 30:38So I got that off of Etsy. I bought it.
- 30:39It's not an endorsement. Didn't get it for free.
- 30:43Yeah, it's all. Blingy, I love it.
- 30:45I love it. That thing's gonna.
- 30:46That thing's gonna. If you ever go to a Mariners
- 30:48game, that thing's gonna light up.
- 30:49Yes, but they also do all different teams, so it's not
- 30:54just the Mariners. That's cool.
- 30:55Let me. See let me see if their name is
- 30:57on here so I can at least like give them a shout.
- 30:59Out. Yeah, I bought this.
- 31:01Yeah, but I can't read. Hold on, let me let me see the.
- 31:05I can't read that because I don't.
- 31:06Get your get your old person glasses on because you're
- 31:09getting old the. Room.
- 31:10I don't have them on. Oh, sporty sparkles, that's
- 31:14what. Sporty.
- 31:14Sparkles. OK, Etsy.
- 31:16Yeah, so Eddie team, they could bling up whatever.
- 31:18Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm not putting that on my
- 31:21Dallas Cowboys. You touch.
- 31:22I'm not putting rhinestones on my Dallas Cowboys.
- 31:25No, that'd be cute. Do you?
- 31:28Oh, yeah. So do you have a jersey like a
- 31:32Seattle Seahawks jersey? Yeah, I have a Seahawks.
- 31:34I'm a couple Seahawks jerseys, so right.
- 31:37Yeah. Are you a bigger?
- 31:38Are you a bigger football fan or a baseball fan?
- 31:40Baseball dumb. OK all.
- 31:41Right. That's why you and Todd and your
- 31:43dad. OK, I got you.
- 31:44OK, I got you. Definitely.
- 31:45Like I barely know any of the rules are football logic
- 31:50compared to baseball, so yeah. Oh, let's see.
- 31:54Yeah. For me, for me it, for me, it's
- 31:56football for sure. It's.
- 31:57Soccer. Because my son played soccer.
- 32:00I knew nothing about soccer until he started playing soccer,
- 32:03and now at least I know you know more about it and flopping and
- 32:06red cards and yellow cards and all that.
- 32:09Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, it's like I think, I think
- 32:13in my. Sports is gibberish to you.
- 32:15Wasn't. It well, I think in my sports
- 32:17hierarchy, it's football number one that is my fave and then
- 32:21there's baseball and then there's basketball and I like
- 32:24golfing and bowling for some reason.
- 32:27She's like and I will watch some poker on occasion.
- 32:30Is so boring. That's all boring.
- 32:34Yeah, I just can't do it. Like I am definitely off this.
- 32:38Mariners lost. Not going to tell you that
- 32:40baseball is boring, even though that's not my favorite thing.
- 32:43Everybody said OK, yeah, non baseball loving people are
- 32:46always baseball. So boring.
- 32:47We do. It's like, you know what, it can
- 32:50be a little yes, yes, it can be long and it could have this
- 32:54little lulls. And now I think we're all just
- 32:57an instant gratification society.
- 32:59So it makes it worse. The dogs agree with me.
- 33:02They agree with you. Yeah, they're all.
- 33:04They're all over it. They're all over it.
- 33:07Yeah, I think, I think and I like, I like baseball too.
- 33:10But I think, yeah, I think maybe just if it had 77 innings
- 33:15sparkly. Are they good?
- 33:18Are they good now? Is their mailman gone UPS guy?
- 33:21FedEx guy, I don't know what it was, I don't know what it is,
- 33:24don't what it is. It's OK, It's all right.
- 33:27Well, but. Makes for a good podcast.
- 33:29What about hockey? Well, do you like hockey?
- 33:31I do, but I don't know that much, and especially now that
- 33:34Seattle has a team. Before Seattle had a team, it
- 33:37was the Vegas Golden Knights, right?
- 33:40But I don't know a lot about hockey.
- 33:44I know that you got to get the puck in.
- 33:46You know the nut, right? Well, I know that, but.
- 33:49You should come to the Tri-cities.
- 33:51There's a penalty box. You should come.
- 33:53That's all I know you. Should come to the Tri-cities
- 33:55because we have the Americans, of course.
- 33:56We're the Tri-City Americans, so.
- 33:57Yes, I would like to go to a Kraken game.
- 34:00I do think that would be super fun, so, but I just need to go
- 34:03with someone who can explain to me what the Hell's going on in
- 34:06case I don't know. So yeah.
- 34:09Well, I like I like your new hat.
- 34:10Nice, nice nice addition to the collection.
- 34:13Cheer me up. Yeah, probably won't wear it
- 34:16until baseball season starts back up in the springtime.
- 34:19What do you think? I mean, is it is it kind of
- 34:21like, so is it kind of like football, sadly, where you're
- 34:24going to start basically from Ground Zero and you just don't
- 34:26know where you're going to be next year?
- 34:27Because usually what happens if, because usually what happens if
- 34:30football team. Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 34:32Usually with football, if it's a good, if it's a good year and
- 34:35they get to the Super Bowl or the playoffs or whatever, then
- 34:37suddenly all the best players are going to get poached by
- 34:39other teams. I.
- 34:40Mean they will keep well, hopefully.
- 34:43I mean they can't. They could trade whoever, but
- 34:46I'm thinking like Julio Cal Raleigh, although the the big
- 34:50players and big stars will stay, but there's no guarantee with
- 34:54any of them. So yeah, they could all get
- 34:56traded, shuffled around, you name it.
- 35:00Well, and again you have. To wait and see.
- 35:03And you can't predict anything even if you've got the same
- 35:06team. No, no, all I know is I'm a
- 35:09Dodgers fan. I know that they.
- 35:11Need to beat the blue which hello, they have a tawny.
- 35:15So even if the Mariners would have gone to the World Series,
- 35:19we totally would have lost. I'm sorry that is reality.
- 35:22So. I was laughing.
- 35:23The Dodgers. Are it right now?
- 35:26Yeah, I was laughing because everybody on their Facebook that
- 35:28that just suddenly Patty this morning goes, why is everybody
- 35:31saying they're Dodgers fans? I'm like because they want.
- 35:35The Blue Jays to live. Yeah, yeah.
- 35:38There's it's a revenge. It's revenge.
- 35:40That's why they're all, that's why they're all Dodgers fans.
- 35:42And she was like, oh, OK. I was like, yeah, she goes, she
- 35:44goes, why were they a Mariner fan yesterday and Dodgers today?
- 35:47I'm like, because they want the Blue Jays to lose.
- 35:49So. But it was good.
- 35:51It was good. Yeah, All right, let's move on.
- 35:54I read that Toys-R-Us is making a comeback.
- 35:59They're opening 30 new stores across the country.
- 36:02I looked at the map and unfortunately the closest one to
- 36:05us is in California. So I was a little bit sad about
- 36:08that. But hopefully maybe if they do
- 36:12well, they might open more. And then one closer to us is
- 36:15what I'm thinking and what I'm hoping.
- 36:18Well, they were bought out. I'm sure they were bought out.
- 36:20They were bought out by. Bankrupt.
- 36:22Yeah, they went bankrupt and got bought out by Macy's.
- 36:24And so a few of Macy's had them inside the store.
- 36:26Very little stuff, but they still have the brand inside the
- 36:29store. But these are.
- 36:30Going to be standalone stores. Are is it?
- 36:33Are we just asking for it again? I don't know.
- 36:36I hope not. I hope we've learned our lesson.
- 36:39Well, I'm not. Going to let it go by the
- 36:41wayside. Again, I think I think the
- 36:43biggest lesson is OK for me in all these situations, stop
- 36:48paying your CEO so much crap and money and quit taking.
- 36:53Not. Necessary and, and take it on,
- 36:55you know, no, I don't care. I don't care what you're
- 36:57running. No guy needs to make $30 million
- 36:59a year. I mean, I just don't understand.
- 37:01I just don't understand that mentality.
- 37:03And then and then brick and mortar, you know, brick and
- 37:05mortar is so expensive because you got to have and all that.
- 37:09So I for me, I, I enjoyed KB toys back in the day.
- 37:15Oh Mervyn's. I would love to see Mervyn's
- 37:16come. Mervyn's that.
- 37:17Is the OG I would want to see come back?
- 37:20So I think, I think Megan's first job was at Mervyn's.
- 37:23I think she was at Mervyn's. She used to work at Mervyn's
- 37:25back in. The day left of their clothes,
- 37:26like their kids clothes and clothes like the quality was
- 37:29great. Like yes, you.
- 37:31Didn't work at Mervyn's Oh. Oh, did she know?
- 37:34She didn't love it. Oh, sorry, I mean.
- 37:36She didn't love it. Oh, OK.
- 37:38She worked at Mervyn's. She didn't love it.
- 37:41Hey, someone was asking for guest stars in the pod.
- 37:42There you go, podcast. There you go, that's the guest.
- 37:45We need to see her like she needs to pop in and say that.
- 37:50She loves it when she loves it when I put words in her mouth.
- 37:55She. Loved it.
- 37:56Just like my husband loves her, my kids, yeah, they love it,
- 37:59Yeah. I think we had a Mervyn's a
- 38:02credit card back in the day. That's I do recall that.
- 38:04Yeah, everybody did. Yeah.
- 38:06Well, we, we're coming from so coming from Lewiston and
- 38:08Clarkson, though of course there's no Mervyn's.
- 38:10So when we moved to Seattle in the late 90s, that's when we
- 38:13first discovered Mervyn's. So and Nordstrom's and
- 38:16Nordstrom's and all, you know, all and all that.
- 38:18Because in my small town of Lewis and Clarkson, none of
- 38:21that, you know, they had like we had a Penny's and a Sears and
- 38:23Kmart. That was about it.
- 38:24Yeah, Montgomery Wards. So yeah, I hope they, I hope to
- 38:26make a run at it. I know that Kennewick had it
- 38:29used to have a big Toys-R-Us store right there at the mall.
- 38:31Yeah. So right now it's Spirit
- 38:33Halloween, So we'll see. George Santos was pardoned by
- 38:39Trump this week. What do you think about that?
- 38:41I'm excited because that means his Cameo videos will probably
- 38:44return. And I did love his Cameo video.
- 38:47One of my son's friend got one for his birthday.
- 38:50For George Santos. Me, I sent it to me to, for me
- 38:53to watch. So I, I, that's the only reason
- 38:56I'm excited about it. I, I just think it's, I, I think
- 39:00pardoning Diddy. R Kelly, George Santos, Diddy.
- 39:04'S next to. Get the pardon any of I I I just
- 39:07don't. Know Maxwell?
- 39:08I yeah, Maxwell, whatever her name is for Epstein and all
- 39:12that. I just, you know me how I feel
- 39:13about it. It's like you do the crime, you
- 39:15do the time and and and I just, I cannot believe how many people
- 39:21just don't believe the facts in situations.
- 39:24If you are convicted of something, the odds are so.
- 39:27So I'll ask you this. Have you ever sat on a?
- 39:30Have you ever sat on a jury, Michelle?
- 39:32No, I get disqualified all the time because of what I did for
- 39:36work when we worked at the radio station.
- 39:39Really. I got jury duty like 4 times and
- 39:42I would go and I'd be super excited about it because I'd be
- 39:46like, yeah, I'm going to finally sit on a jury.
- 39:48And then as soon as usually it's the defense, the other, not the
- 39:54prosecutor, usually it's the defense.
- 39:55That was like we would like her excused and which is within
- 40:01reason because at the time we worked on the bowl and we would
- 40:05play the news at the top of the hour from KRT.
- 40:08And so that meant that I would hear the news and as a juror you
- 40:14cannot watch or hear the news or any of that kind of stuff.
- 40:17And so the defense would usually be like, I motion for the
- 40:20whatever they say to get this juror excused.
- 40:23And so then the judge would usually grant it.
- 40:26There was one time that because I said what I did for a living,
- 40:31once I got excused, I think it was Judge Berry here in Yakima,
- 40:36then he was like super curious about what I did for a living.
- 40:39And then he continued to ask me questions about my job on the
- 40:43radio, even though I had just made excuse.
- 40:46But he was just so curious about it, just wanted to know more
- 40:49about it. And of course, I was answering
- 40:51them. But yeah, like I always get
- 40:54dismissed and I think it's not fair.
- 40:56Well, now you could do it. Now you don't get.
- 40:59Now you don't get asked. If I put like podcaster down,
- 41:02yeah, I probably get the same shit.
- 41:04So that's. That's interesting.
- 41:05So it worked. It worked.
- 41:06Have you? Oh yeah.
- 41:08Yeah, I've been jury foreman number one.
- 41:10I've been, I've been, I've been the foreman.
- 41:11Yeah, that. Does not surprise me.
- 41:13Not not surprising at all. So, so yeah, so interesting.
- 41:17So why? Why I strongly believe I served
- 41:21on a jury and we found our person not guilty.
- 41:25So, so to me, it's like I, I, and it's the only time I've ever
- 41:28served on a jury. I'd love to do it again sometime
- 41:30in the future, but it's like, it's like, I believe, I believe
- 41:34in the system, you know, you the, you know, and it was
- 41:37interesting that ours was a stalking case.
- 41:41So and, and I was the same thing as you.
- 41:43I was, I was there and, and they go, what do you do for a living
- 41:46Now I'm on the radio. What station that of course the
- 41:48judge asked me lots of questions about radio.
- 41:50Yeah, there's too many goes about it, but they go, but they
- 41:52go, there's no reason why you can't serve on the jury.
- 41:54And they put, they seated me on the jury and that was the jury
- 41:57forum. And I was juror, juror #1 so and
- 42:00then, and then, of course, we had everybody else on there.
- 42:02And it was interesting. It was a stalking case.
- 42:05It was an ex-boyfriend or an ex-boyfriend that had a
- 42:09restraining order or an order to stay away from this person.
- 42:12Well, it was interesting in the trial is the sister we did not.
- 42:19The sister was the one like he went into Walgreens and she
- 42:22chased him out of Walgreens. She's like, you know, and the
- 42:26the person, the complaint or the, the the other sister who
- 42:29was supposedly stalked wasn't nowhere around.
- 42:32So you had this sister. So you had this sister who was
- 42:35going well, he drives by her house all but you know, so we
- 42:37just didn't find her, her testimony credible or she was
- 42:41what we felt was an overreaction.
- 42:43Right. So, so they lived in the same,
- 42:46they lived in the same area. So it wasn't and the girlfriend
- 42:51lived on a busy St. It wasn't like she lived on the
- 42:54highway. It wasn't like.
- 42:56So it wasn't like she's in this dead.
- 42:58End right, right. So we put it all together and
- 43:01then the day that he was supposedly supposed to supposed
- 43:04to be doing whatever he was supposed to be doing, he was
- 43:06moving his mom, his mom got on the stage and said my son was
- 43:09moving me, blah, blah, blah. So anyway, we found him not
- 43:13guilty. And then what they do after, and
- 43:15it was interesting. After the after you do your
- 43:17thing, the judge comes back later and goes, why?
- 43:20Why did you guys decide the way you did?
- 43:22So even that's the thing you don't see is after you wrap up
- 43:25the case, you you give your verdict, then you get shuttled
- 43:28off. The judge will come in
- 43:29afterwards and go, hey, why did you guys do do what you did?
- 43:34And we and and we and and again, they always say beyond a
- 43:37reasonable doubt. And so and so we all on the jury
- 43:40said, you know, do we think he was sketchy?
- 43:43Yeah, we. But you can't convict somebody
- 43:46from being sketchy. We can't convince right you we
- 43:49we did not have verifiable proof that he had done any of these
- 43:53things, that he was done. Now he might have, but there was
- 43:58no, there was no verifiable proof.
- 44:00And so we found him not guilty. And so I'm kind of a, I'm kind
- 44:04of a fan of the fact that you are convicted by your peers.
- 44:08I do, you know, you hope you get a, you hope you get a fair, you
- 44:12get a fair trial and a fair jury.
- 44:14And the fact that you are ultra rich or super rich is
- 44:19ridiculous. And we all know that that does
- 44:21play a factor into all this. Definitely, because if you're
- 44:24rich, you can hire the best defense attorney.
- 44:27If you're poor, you're getting the public defender who's making
- 44:3180 grand a year. And do you think they're and
- 44:33they're overloaded with cases at this stage of the game, I.
- 44:36I I don't think and I don't care.
- 44:38I don't care. I don't care if it's Republican
- 44:40or Democrat. I don't think the president
- 44:42should have the power to pardon people.
- 44:44Well, that was going to be my that that's what I was going to
- 44:47say. That power should go away.
- 44:49Yeah, because they, it's abused on all sides, Republican,
- 44:53Democrats and whatever their process is to pardon someone
- 44:57varies. But what I don't like is now
- 45:01like George, take George for example, liar.
- 45:05Well, no. So like the restitution goes
- 45:08away as well. And so those people that he owes
- 45:11money to, it's gone. They don't get repaid.
- 45:16But people or. Even a chance, you know, maybe
- 45:18they might not have ever never gotten repaid, but at least
- 45:21there was something you know that was going to force him to
- 45:24at least pay X amount or whatever it was, you know but I.
- 45:28Paycheck, but I've always had so here's you know it and I've
- 45:31always had issues. You already know.
- 45:34Maybe it's because maybe because you and I both grew up poor.
- 45:36So I've got issues by the fact that it's funny in, in one of
- 45:40the Batman movies, the Joker or one of the villains steals all
- 45:44of his money and, and Catwoman goes and Catwoman goes even the
- 45:50even the rich don't go broke. You know what I'm saying?
- 45:52Because he still had assets, you know what I'm saying?
- 45:54He still had his hat. I mean, he, he's broke
- 45:57technically on paper, but he still had money.
- 45:59And she goes and she goes, she goes figures the rich, the rich
- 46:02don't go broke. And so when I look at
- 46:04contractors who screw people out of money, when I see these
- 46:08stories, when people embezzle or all these bad things as they,
- 46:11that they do, nothing happens to them.
- 46:15Their shit, their cars, their houses.
- 46:17When you look at Alex Jones right now, this $2.5 billion,
- 46:21you know, settlement, this shit is, he's still in AI, don't care
- 46:25what they say. He still is in a big house.
- 46:27He, he still has his shit. You know, Rudy Giuliani, the,
- 46:31the My Pillow guy, you name any of them George, you name any of
- 46:35these people, come take their shit, make them bankrupt, make
- 46:41them have nothing. You know, because you're right.
- 46:44If if if it happened to you and I, it may be done.
- 46:47Yeah. I mean it, it'd be done.
- 46:50Running in jail like we wouldn't be out.
- 46:52Basically, these wouldn't be out.
- 46:53And so, so I, I, I think that that's one of the powers for
- 46:56both for just period. Sorry, Mr. Pres, sorry if you're
- 46:59the president, you don't get to, you don't get to pardon people.
- 47:02Yeah, I think it's a biased. I think it's a biased thing.
- 47:05Well, and again, each one of them is different on how they
- 47:08come to pardoning XYZ person making that decision.
- 47:12And so I think it's definitely it's definitely overly used and
- 47:18abused at this stage of the game and it should just go away
- 47:21completely. I don't understand why it's
- 47:24there. Well, even from the even from
- 47:26the Diddy thing, you're he's convicted.
- 47:28The mofo is convicted as Perry, as Pierre said, you did these
- 47:33things and he escaped. The harsher, you know, the, the
- 47:37harsher stuff, OK, and. Serving what, four years or?
- 47:40Right. And, and, and that and again,
- 47:42that is up to the jury to decide.
- 47:44The jury decided that, OK, we think something was going on.
- 47:47We don't have all the answers, right.
- 47:50So we're going to convict you on what we we have.
- 47:53We're going to convict you on what we know and that what?
- 47:56The jury is supposed to. Do beyond a reasonable doubt.
- 47:58So beyond a reasonable doubt, they know that the two things
- 48:00they convicted them on, he did the other stuff you didn't get
- 48:03convicted on. So there you go.
- 48:05And then when we see videos of this abuse and all these things
- 48:10that happen, I mean, I look back, I look back to the Chris
- 48:13Brown and Rihanna thing. It's like, why do they get a
- 48:17pass? Oh, well, they have money and
- 48:19they can buy themselves out and all this.
- 48:21And so that does not make it, that does not make it fair.
- 48:24And how well he's done. It doesn't make it fair and
- 48:27equitable. And then and then for me, I just
- 48:30struggle with because people defend it.
- 48:32People defend it and I know it. We're not going to get
- 48:34political. But I feel the same way about
- 48:37about Democrats too. If that Epstein list comes out
- 48:40and your ass is on it, you know what I'm saying?
- 48:42You just go to. Jail.
- 48:43I'm definitely 1000% I don't care who is on this list.
- 48:48I don't. Yeah, this this whole argument,
- 48:51this whole argument that Lib libs, you know, want to protect
- 48:54libs or, you know, no, no, not at all.
- 48:56No, you commit a crime, you go to jail.
- 49:00And, and I and I want and I want repercussions, not just that you
- 49:03go to jail, your shit gets taken away.
- 49:07I mean, I just don't, I don't cuz you know, Diddy, he's going
- 49:09to be and I'm Diddy. Hey, sorry, Diddy's going to be
- 49:11out in 48 months. Oh yeah.
- 49:14And nothing changes for and nothing changes for him.
- 49:17No, I mean, and look at Prince Andrew.
- 49:20He just got his title taken. Yeah.
- 49:21Right, but he's still, but he's still wealthy beyond the House
- 49:24of Windsor is still wealthy beyond wealthy and, and, and I
- 49:29and even talk, even talking about it's insane.
- 49:33Even from the the the monarchy side of things.
- 49:35It's like, really, I mean, you pay, you basically pay the
- 49:38monarchy to, to be the goodwill ambassadors for the country
- 49:41because that's what you know, they don't make decisions, they
- 49:43don't make law. They're they?
- 49:44Don't technically run the country.
- 49:46And they don't. I know it's so many.
- 49:47I always laugh when people think that the the royalty runs.
- 49:49They they not know. Yeah.
- 49:51It's Parliament that runs it, so so it's like they are basically
- 49:55overpaid spokespeople. Yeah.
- 49:58And it's, it's ridiculous. So you commit a crime, you go to
- 50:02jail and you take and you and you make the repercussions
- 50:07devastating. So you don't do those things
- 50:11again there. You know, there's a few things
- 50:14that the Repubs and I agree on and that one's my number, my
- 50:16number one and and fiscal responsibility.
- 50:20Fiscal responsibility and the reason why, and you know what?
- 50:24The reason why I say that Michelle, is because Michelle's
- 50:27not out committing crimes. Rick's not out committing
- 50:29crimes. So if it's so, so if I'm not, if
- 50:33I'm not out committing to crime and you're not out committing to
- 50:34crime and other people we know aren't committing crimes, then
- 50:37that means you don't have to commit crimes.
- 50:39I mean, my DNA is in the police database now thanks to Shaylee,
- 50:42so I can't be out murdering people and then having my DNA
- 50:46now thanks to her so. I just could to take a human
- 50:51life. I just could not imagine what
- 50:54what switch goes off in your head because because even
- 50:58killing a family bothers me so. Oh yeah, I could never go
- 51:02hunting. I have a great story about my
- 51:04dad and deer hunting, which we're running out of time.
- 51:07I could probably save that for next our next podcast episode.
- 51:11Which is why I want nothing to do with hunting.
- 51:14I mean, he tried to get me into hunting, but when I was little,
- 51:19I didn't listen to my mom and. Saw something you weren't
- 51:22supposed to see? Yeah, it.
- 51:24Wasn't good. It wasn't good.
- 51:26And also we were talking about crime.
- 51:29You know how podcast we had talked about me stealing and I
- 51:33said I never stole again. Well, that's not true.
- 51:36I thought of something. Something popped into my head
- 51:38that I remember. Yeah.
- 51:40So I'll have to tell the story next week.
- 51:42Although I did have permission, so I don't know.
- 51:44That's really stealing. Well, one time I had permission,
- 51:47the other time I don't know. Anyway.
- 51:48I was thinking it was so funny. Story we'll have to save for
- 51:51next Yeah, at least. I mean, I talk about, in my
- 51:53book, we'll talk about, let's talk about stealing next time
- 51:55because it is funny. I was, I, I jogged my memory by
- 51:58the fact that in my book, I talked about getting in trouble
- 52:01and, and getting picked up with the police office, Police
- 52:04Department, you know, and, and my, and my one time that I
- 52:07supposedly stole something, I look back, I'm like, no, there
- 52:10was a couple times I got away with it, you know, but no, no,
- 52:14no, I'm saying, but, but I mean, after that, I never did it ever
- 52:17again. Like that was it.
- 52:19So my, my life of crime was only a short, short, very short lived
- 52:24and very embarrassed by it. But I was looking back, like,
- 52:27no, there was a couple times where I kind of got away with
- 52:30it. And that's not then I tried it
- 52:31the last time and got caught and that was the end of it.
- 52:33But yeah, so that's going to be a good, that'll be a good
- 52:35podcast. And then almost before we leave,
- 52:38one of the suggestions I saw that someone said we should get
- 52:40some guests. Oh, who said that?
- 52:43That was in one of the one of the comments.
- 52:45So I was thinking like well. I'd like to know who that was,
- 52:48and I'm just kidding. In one in down, down in the
- 52:50comments, like we should do some interviews.
- 52:51So I'm like, OK, so think about that in the future.
- 52:54Like who would would would you like?
- 52:57Who would you like the line up to, you know?
- 52:59Yeah, who with is within our scope that we can get to be a
- 53:03guest on there's. A few.
- 53:04I mean, I mean, there's a few people.
- 53:06I was thinking that, not that I'm going to throw some.
- 53:08I'm not that I'm name dropping, but.
- 53:11Who you are? From entertainment wise we could
- 53:14maybe Sir mix a lot. James Otto, Who's the country *
- 53:19If you. Never know connections to him
- 53:20that's going to have to. Be on your own.
- 53:22Many, many years ago we had Richard Page, of course, from
- 53:24Mr. Mr. Remember, we interviewed him.
