- Lucas: Velkommen til Learn Danish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 87! Can you believe it? We've learned so much already. Lucas: We have. Today, we're going back to a favorite place: the bakery. Luna: Oh, I love the bakery. We learned how to order bread and simple pastries before, right? Lucas: Exactly. But there are so many delicious Danish pastries. Today, we'll learn to order a few specific ones. Luna: Great. So what's first? Lucas: Let's start with a classic: kanelsnegl. Can you say that? Luna: Kanelsnegl. Lucas: Perfect. Kanelsnegl is a cinnamon roll. Now, if you want to order it, you say: Jeg vil gerne have en kanelsnegl. Luna: Jeg vil gerne have en kanelsnegl. Lucas: Yes. 'Jeg vil gerne have' means 'I would like to have'. So, Jeg vil gerne have en kanelsnegl. Luna: Jeg vil gerne have en kanelsnegl. I would like a cinnamon roll. Lucas: Exactly. Now imagine you see a pastry you don't recognize. You can ask: Hvad er det? Luna: Hvad er det? That's 'What is it?' Lucas: Right. And the baker might answer: Det er en spandauer. Luna: Spandauer? What's that? Lucas: A spandauer is a Danish pastry with custard or jam, often with icing. So, Hvad er det? Det er en spandauer. Luna: Det er en spandauer. That's a spandauer. Lucas: Good. Another popular one is tebirkes. It's a poppy seed pastry. Luna: Tebirkes. That sounds fun. Lucas: It is. So if you decide to buy one, you say: Jeg tager en tebirkes. Luna: Jeg tager en tebirkes. 'I'll take a tebirkes.' Lucas: Yes. And if you want the baker to suggest something, you can ask: Kan du anbefale noget? Luna: Kan du anbefale noget? 'Can you recommend something?' Lucas: Exactly. So let's put it together in a little scene. Luna: Okay. Lucas: You walk up to the counter. You see a kanelsnegl. You say: Jeg vil gerne have en kanelsnegl. Luna: Jeg vil gerne have en kanelsnegl. Lucas: Then you point to another pastry and ask: Hvad er det? Luna: Hvad er det? Lucas: The baker says: Det er en spandauer. You think, hmm, maybe you want that too. So you say: Jeg tager også en spandauer. Luna: Jeg tager også en spandauer. 'I'll also take a spandauer.' Lucas: Perfect. And then you ask for a recommendation: Kan du anbefale noget? Luna: Kan du anbefale noget? And the baker says: Prøv en tebirkes. Lucas: So you add: Så tager jeg en tebirkes. 'Then I'll take a tebirkes.' Luna: Så tager jeg en tebirkes. Great. Lucas: Now, let's practice the phrases again. First: Jeg vil gerne have en kanelsnegl. Luna: Jeg vil gerne have en kanelsnegl. Lucas: Hvad er det? Luna: Hvad er det? Lucas: Det er en spandauer.
