- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast.
- 0:06Speaker 2: This is spoil Me covering one Piece episodes eight fifty
- 0:14Speaker 2: through eight fifty two. I'll be back, Loofy, deadly departure,
- 0:20Speaker 2: the Man with a Bounty of a billion, and a
- 0:24Speaker 2: hard battle starts Loofy versus Category. In these episodes, Loofy,
- 0:34Speaker 2: I mean he's met his match before. This is not
- 0:37Speaker 2: the first time that that in particular has happened, but
- 0:42Speaker 2: this feels a lot more humiliating somehow. Welcome to spoil Me,
- 1:12Speaker 2: Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you
- 1:16Speaker 2: very much to Florian for commissioning this episode. So yeah,
- 1:22Speaker 2: I'm going to talk about Lufy and Category out of
- 1:25Speaker 2: the gate because it's just it's, you know, the thing
- 1:34Speaker 2: in this trio of episodes. When we start these three episodes,
- 1:44Speaker 2: Loufy is still with the rest of the straw Hats
- 1:47Speaker 2: heading toward the Sonny. They get aboard, and Nami is
- 1:53Speaker 2: in the midst of getting the Cola set up for
- 1:57Speaker 2: them to do the coup of Burst, and fucking Big
- 2:01Speaker 2: Mom is able to just grab the back of the
- 2:05Speaker 2: ship and hold it in place, which is really unfair.
- 2:09Speaker 2: And I had thought for a moment that the kudibirst
- 2:15Speaker 2: had started, and that she was strong enough that she
- 2:18Speaker 2: was able to stop the ship from taking off like entirely,
- 2:22Speaker 2: which had me very very upset. It turns out it's
- 2:27Speaker 2: not that the kudibirst happened. It's that the barrel of
- 2:32Speaker 2: cola in the hold got knocked a skew and made
- 2:36Speaker 2: it so that when they tried to go, the fuel
- 2:39Speaker 2: wasn't there. It was, you know what I'm saying, So
- 2:44Speaker 2: thank god, because I really for a second was like,
- 2:48Speaker 2: are we doing this that she can that she is
- 2:51Speaker 2: strong enough to and you know, considering what we have
- 2:56Speaker 2: seen her do, that wouldn't really be out of the question,
- 3:01Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. It didn't seem like unreasonable.
- 3:04Speaker 2: I just wasn't really sure if that's what we were
- 3:08Speaker 2: gonna go with. I was very relieved that's not how
- 3:13Speaker 2: it turned out. And I will say, she's still yelling
- 3:18Speaker 2: about her wedding cake holding onto the back of the ship,
- 3:21Speaker 2: and Lufy literally just says she's such a pain, which like,
- 3:28Speaker 2: is such a great way to minimize this as an enemy, Like,
- 3:37Speaker 2: I just really enjoy the fact that it's not that
- 3:41Speaker 2: he's afraid of her. It's not that he's like it,
- 3:46Speaker 2: just she's cramping his style, and he says something like,
- 3:50Speaker 2: you know, you're not gonna be able to stop us
- 3:52Speaker 2: from leaving, but yeah, she is like fully waded into
- 3:57Speaker 2: the water holding onto them, so they have to get
- 4:01Speaker 2: the barrel back into place before they can take off,
- 4:07Speaker 2: and it's all like the way that this goes is
- 4:13Speaker 2: that we kind of bounce around from one straw hat
- 4:18Speaker 2: to another and to carrot as well. We jump around
- 4:22Speaker 2: to some of Big Mom's adversaries or not adversaries, her
- 4:26Speaker 2: allies and get to see how they're reacting and communicating
- 4:30Speaker 2: with each other.
- 4:32Speaker 1: But u.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Long story short, there comes a point where Loofy is like,
- 4:41Speaker 2: there's I'm trying to find the exact spot because he
- 4:46Speaker 2: goes into the mirror world because he finally is just like,
- 4:51Speaker 2: you know what, I'm gonna deal with this fucking category
- 4:53Speaker 2: guy once and for all. And he goes in there
- 4:57Speaker 2: and he breaks the mirror and it's a great moment
- 5:02Speaker 2: because they are sort of like making fun of him
- 5:06Speaker 2: initially like he's doing something really foolish and doesn't understand
- 5:12Speaker 2: the implications of it, when really what it is is
- 5:16Speaker 2: him doing the you think I'm stuck in here with you,
- 5:20Speaker 2: but really you're stuck in here with me kind of thing,
- 5:24Speaker 2: and that punching of the glass is actually meant to
- 5:29Speaker 2: be the I'm keeping you from getting out. So I
- 5:35Speaker 2: loved this in terms of its energy to begin with. However,
- 5:45Speaker 2: I wasn't really sure what to expect of him versus
- 5:51Speaker 2: category I really didn't know, Like we have been in
- 5:57Speaker 2: this situation so far, that has felt very it's felt
- 6:04Speaker 2: like very much like a leveling up of all of
- 6:07Speaker 2: the baddies. We're entering a whole different skill level, you know.
- 6:15Speaker 2: And so a part of me is like loving Lufy's energy,
- 6:21Speaker 2: and another part of me is kind of hoping he's
- 6:24Speaker 2: wrong and that it's not actually a category second here
- 6:28Speaker 2: with him. And then I started to actually like get
- 6:34Speaker 2: what I wanted, and then I wanted to be like,
- 6:36Speaker 2: I take it back, never mind, I hate this. So
- 6:42Speaker 2: what I mean about the it's slightly more humiliating from
- 6:47Speaker 2: the beginning of the episode is simply that Lovie has
- 6:52Speaker 2: never faced somebody who can basically return every shot like
- 6:59Speaker 2: bigger and better and batter. He has faced many enemies
- 7:06Speaker 2: who have whooped his ass on the first fight. That
- 7:10Speaker 2: is not unusual, but there is something so specifically insulting
- 7:15Speaker 2: about someone throwing your own moves back in your face.
- 7:21Speaker 2: That is a different thing, and it feels like really tough.
- 7:28Speaker 1: It just the.
- 7:32Speaker 2: It's like a combo of the fact that he can
- 7:33Speaker 2: reproduce Lufy's moves and the fact that he is not
- 7:40Speaker 2: even breaking a sweat. It is nothing to him, y'all
- 7:45Speaker 2: these attacks that Lufy is Louviy is busting out his
- 7:49Speaker 2: number one best shit, you know, and it doesn't like
- 7:58Speaker 2: it's not just because kind of Corey can see a
- 8:01Speaker 2: little bit into the future. I can't remember how much
- 8:04Speaker 2: is it. Like one minute, it was enough to like
- 8:07Speaker 2: be quite adequate in a fight, but not enough that
- 8:10Speaker 2: you could like avoid catastrophe on a larger basis, you
- 8:15Speaker 2: know what I mean. But yeah, it's a there's just
- 8:22Speaker 2: a sense of Category all the equivalent of like taking
- 8:28Speaker 2: somebody by the forehead and just holding them at arm's
- 8:30Speaker 2: length so that their punches can't reach you. Like Lufy's
- 8:33Speaker 2: like a six year old trying to fight. Category is
- 8:39Speaker 2: absolutely unbothered, to the point that it almost feels like
- 8:44Speaker 2: he's half asleep. And I hate watching Lufy scrambling and
- 8:52Speaker 2: trying to like make anything happen. It's just so embarrassing.
- 8:59Speaker 2: He wants so much for one of his like he
- 9:06Speaker 2: calls something. At one point, Category says surprise attack. It's pointless,
- 9:11Speaker 2: and I honestly was like, I'm not really sure what's
- 9:13Speaker 2: a surprise attack, because you know he's about to attack you.
- 9:18Speaker 2: He knows that you know he's about to attack you,
- 9:21Speaker 2: So I don't even know why we like would call
- 9:23Speaker 2: it that. But you know, that's fine. But that Category
- 9:30Speaker 2: can reproduce Luvie's exact attack, and it's triple the size
- 9:35Speaker 2: of Louf's. And this fight is very quickly is like
- 9:40Speaker 2: just a genuine dick measuring contest, which at a certain point,
- 9:45Speaker 2: when Lufy decides to do his like inflated ball hands
- 9:50Speaker 2: and there are two of them and he's hovering in
- 9:52Speaker 2: the air with two giant balls dangling, I was like, Okay,
- 9:55Speaker 2: now the subtext is rapidly becoming text. But I felt
- 10:03Speaker 2: like indignant, you know what I'm saying. I felt like,
- 10:06Speaker 2: as I was watching it, how dare you? How dare
- 10:11Speaker 2: you throw back at him the very thing like that's
- 10:14Speaker 2: not allowed? And oh, okay, Seraphim says a few seconds Okay,
- 10:20Speaker 2: so like, yeah, it's just enough that in a fight
- 10:23Speaker 2: it could be critical, but not so much that there's
- 10:27Speaker 2: really anything that you can do in a grander sense.
- 10:35Speaker 2: And of course, top off the fact that Lufy is
- 10:38Speaker 2: getting fucking cooked here, we've got all of these pirates
- 10:43Speaker 2: watching the fight commenting the whole time. Now, there is
- 10:49Speaker 2: this one sense in which Lufy isn't beaten, and that
- 10:55Speaker 2: is of course, that he's still alive. That's really what
- 10:59Speaker 2: Lufy always has going for him is that he's basically indestructible.
- 11:06Speaker 1: You know.
- 11:06Speaker 2: It's like the one time that we saw a fist
- 11:09Speaker 2: go through his chest, that's the closest we've gotten to
- 11:12Speaker 2: ever seeing that his body can be harmed. Otherwise, it
- 11:15Speaker 2: has felt most of the time like he's just got
- 11:21Speaker 2: such insane durability. And it's nevertheless hard to watch him
- 11:28Speaker 2: get beat up. But the fact that his body is
- 11:32Speaker 2: rubber is doing a lot of heavy lifting all the time,
- 11:36Speaker 2: because if there was ever somebody who needed to be
- 11:39Speaker 2: more durable, because they are constantly punching outside their weight class,
- 11:43Speaker 2: and I mean that in every sense, it is definitely loovy.
- 11:48Speaker 2: So this whole thing where he keeps like busting out
- 11:52Speaker 2: other moves and doing things that are like, you know,
- 11:57Speaker 2: he thinks going to be surprising or just so overwhelming
- 12:02Speaker 2: that Category won't be able to cope. It's not just
- 12:06Speaker 2: the fact that Category seems unbothered. It's the fact that
- 12:09Speaker 2: there's all these pirates watching and for a second they
- 12:14Speaker 2: are impressed with what Lufy has just pulled out. So
- 12:19Speaker 2: it's almost like you're getting this false gratification for a
- 12:25Speaker 2: moment of your audience seeming to be confirming that you're
- 12:29Speaker 2: doing well, that you are impressive, that there is something
- 12:36Speaker 2: to your attack, and so then to have it be
- 12:40Speaker 2: a moment later proved that oh, they only thought that
- 12:44Speaker 2: because they didn't know they were worried for Category for
- 12:50Speaker 2: a second, but they weren't aware of they have like
- 12:53Speaker 2: confidence in Category that he will win. But that doesn't
- 12:56Speaker 2: mean that in the moment as the attack is happening,
- 12:59Speaker 2: that they aren't going shit, you know. But it's like
- 13:04Speaker 2: they are finding out at the same time as Loofy
- 13:08Speaker 2: that Category is unmoved and has nothing to worry about here,
- 13:15Speaker 2: and so it just kept feeling like, oh, maybe this'll
- 13:19Speaker 2: do it because his henchmen are also impressed. And then
- 13:25Speaker 2: a second later Oh, they were just impressed because they
- 13:29Speaker 2: don't know what they're talking about, because they're dumb dumbs,
- 13:32Speaker 2: so they keep interjecting, and I kept being like, maybe now,
- 13:35Speaker 2: and even though I knew, because you know, we're too
- 13:39Speaker 2: early on in everything for Loufy to beat category. It's
- 13:44Speaker 2: not really a thing where Lufy goes up against somebody
- 13:48Speaker 2: and wins on the first try, unless it's the very
- 13:53Speaker 2: very first of like the low level henchmen in an arc.
- 13:58Speaker 2: You know, pretty much we had like with the first henchman,
- 14:04Speaker 2: he will be on the first try, but there will
- 14:08Speaker 2: always be like that moment where it looks like he's
- 14:11Speaker 2: down and then he gets up manages to pull something
- 14:14Speaker 2: out and win in the end. But technically it's like
- 14:16Speaker 2: within the same fight, I would say, And then the
- 14:19Speaker 2: second one, I want to say that it's sort of
- 14:23Speaker 2: either drawn out much longer or Lufy has to like
- 14:28Speaker 2: regroup and come back. And then the final boss is
- 14:33Speaker 2: you know how many times did he have to try
- 14:37Speaker 2: against Ste Flamingo? Like that fight seemed to go on
- 14:40Speaker 2: for literally three days. I don't even know. So, yeah,
- 14:47Speaker 2: so this this whole thing, it's like they keep at
- 14:51Speaker 2: least thinking that Lufy's dead, and then Lufy struggles to
- 14:56Speaker 2: his feet, and that really, more than anything, they can
- 14:59Speaker 2: see that, Like, it's not that Lufy isn't a good fighter,
- 15:02Speaker 2: it's just that Category is so out of his league
- 15:06Speaker 2: that it doesn't matter that you're a good fighter when
- 15:09Speaker 2: you're up against somebody like that. He's in a different echelon.
- 15:15Speaker 2: But the thing that impresses them definitely is his resilience
- 15:20Speaker 2: and the fact that he just has that indomitable spirit
- 15:24Speaker 2: and keeps standing back up. And I don't want to
- 15:29Speaker 2: say that, like Katekori's expression never really changes, so I
- 15:35Speaker 2: won't go so far as to say that he's impressed necessarily,
- 15:40Speaker 2: because I think that's definitely an overstatement. But there is
- 15:44Speaker 2: a sense of like, as he's telling Lufy, I can
- 15:47Speaker 2: replicate all of your attacks, but everything that I am
- 15:51Speaker 2: going to do with that attack is going to be
- 15:55Speaker 2: superior to what you can do. That Like, this is
- 16:00Speaker 2: not bragging, This is Category saying what the fuck is
- 16:03Speaker 2: going on?
- 16:05Speaker 1: You know?
- 16:05Speaker 2: This is almost feeling like him being like, buddy, why
- 16:10Speaker 2: do you keep insisting on doing this to yourself? You're
- 16:13Speaker 2: not going to win? And I'm not trying to be
- 16:15Speaker 2: mean like I mean, I am going to kill you,
- 16:18Speaker 2: but like I'm not trying to be mean about it.
- 16:20Speaker 2: It's just what has to happen. And if you would
- 16:24Speaker 2: just stop deluding yourself, we could get on with it.
- 16:29Speaker 2: And you keep insisting that you stand a chance, and
- 16:33Speaker 2: it's tiresome and I just I keep repeating myself and
- 16:38Speaker 2: I'm getting bored now, you know. So anyway, Saraphim's durability
- 16:44Speaker 2: and sheer bloody minded stubbornness that makes them never give up. Yes,
- 16:50Speaker 2: So this ends with the way that this is the
- 16:57Speaker 2: loofy got here through a mirror that was on a
- 17:02Speaker 2: vanity on the Sunny. I do not remember where this
- 17:07Speaker 2: vanity came from, Guys, I know that there's something going
- 17:10Speaker 2: on here, but I don't remember either way. The vanity, oh,
- 17:16Speaker 2: Seraphim's Nami's room. Okay, the vanity because it is still
- 17:21Speaker 2: in position on the ship on the Sunny. This means
- 17:25Speaker 2: that they can get right onto the ship if they
- 17:29Speaker 2: are able to find a way. I guess the mirror
- 17:34Speaker 2: that he broke though, was that one, right? So the
- 17:40Speaker 2: way that they're trying to attack is with these fire arrows.
- 17:43Speaker 2: And I'm realizing now that like My assumption was that
- 17:46Speaker 2: we're firing through the mirror that Brulet is holding up,
- 17:50Speaker 2: which will come right inside the Sunny. But now I'm
- 17:55Speaker 2: realizing that mirror is the exit that Loofy broke, so
- 18:00Speaker 2: the arrows must be coming from a different spot through
- 18:04Speaker 2: a different mirror. I'm sorry, guys. This is the only
- 18:08Speaker 2: thing about the mirror travel that can get a little
- 18:11Speaker 2: bit confusing in my brain is like keeping track of
- 18:13Speaker 2: what's where and how all it works. I do really
- 18:16Speaker 2: like the mirror world as a conceit like this is
- 18:20Speaker 2: one of my favorite little weird things that has been
- 18:23Speaker 2: done in the show, is having this like bizarre in
- 18:26Speaker 2: between world. But you know, however it works. Suffice to
- 18:33Speaker 2: say that there is a way for them to light
- 18:37Speaker 2: the Sunny on fire with these arrows. Florence says, yeah,
- 18:40Speaker 2: who knows how many mirrors the Sunny has. Saraphim says,
- 18:44Speaker 2: they broke the big mirror. They found Anami's room there
- 18:46Speaker 2: firing through other mirrors in the locker room sets bathroom
- 18:49Speaker 2: that are too small to fit a person through. Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha.
- 18:53Speaker 2: So the episode ends with them about to fire these
- 19:00Speaker 2: two weird long necks that are like we're trying to
- 19:05Speaker 2: do like a sibling rivalry thing with the two of
- 19:08Speaker 2: them a little bit. I'll be honest, y'all, these two
- 19:13Speaker 2: just freak me out. I don't know what it is.
- 19:16Speaker 2: It's not just the long necks, but it's like the
- 19:18Speaker 2: long neck in combination with this weird vibe between the
- 19:23Speaker 2: two of them. It's really got Sir Seene Jamie for me,
- 19:29Speaker 2: like they're secretly fucking And I don't know where I'm
- 19:32Speaker 2: getting this, but I definitely am feeling it. And anyway,
- 19:36Speaker 2: I just really was like, why do I dislike you
- 19:41Speaker 2: too so much? Every time that they have like a
- 19:44Speaker 2: moment to themselves on the show, I'm just like, Ugh,
- 19:47Speaker 2: get off my screen, you guys. But yeah, they are
- 19:50Speaker 2: the ones that are about to fire. They have their
- 19:53Speaker 2: arrows knocked and they're ready to go, and Lufy just
- 19:57Speaker 2: sits up again. They think he's dead for some and
- 20:00Speaker 2: they keep thinking he's dead. Nobody knows how to check
- 20:03Speaker 2: a pulse in this universe. And he sits up and
- 20:06Speaker 2: just yells no. And it cuts right as he's yelling.
- 20:12Speaker 2: It's not even like we cut to them and their
- 20:14Speaker 2: faces as they react to him being alive. It's just
- 20:18Speaker 2: him yelling and cut. So now we have to like
- 20:24Speaker 2: think about our is it possible that they're going to
- 20:27Speaker 2: successfully fire next episode? And I mean if they hit
- 20:33Speaker 2: the sonny, it all depends how alert everyone is and
- 20:40Speaker 2: what room they hit and how likely it is somebody
- 20:45Speaker 2: is going to catch it and be able to put
- 20:47Speaker 2: the fire out. You know, if they do catch it
- 20:51Speaker 2: and they start to understand what's going on, my assumption
- 20:55Speaker 2: would be like, now you have to go around and
- 20:57Speaker 2: break all the mirrors, right, which talk about bad luck
- 21:01Speaker 2: that's going to add up. But setting that aside, now
- 21:06Speaker 2: Lufy really has no way to get back on the sunny,
- 21:08Speaker 2: which I understand that these mirrors weren't big enough for
- 21:11Speaker 2: him to do that in theory, but he is rubber
- 21:14Speaker 2: and so I don't know. Sometimes I think that he
- 21:16Speaker 2: can squeeze through areas that most people wouldn't be able
- 21:18Speaker 2: to squeeze through potentially, So yeah, I don't know what
- 21:25Speaker 2: to expect in that arena. But I just wanted to
- 21:28Speaker 2: talk about him and Category fighting off the top because
- 21:33Speaker 2: it was just a really like we have seen Lofy
- 21:37Speaker 2: get his ass kicked before, and honestly, a lot of
- 21:40Speaker 2: the time that we want When we watch him get
- 21:42Speaker 2: his ass kicked, it's like it serves the function of
- 21:47Speaker 2: us getting to see exactly what the baddie is capable of.
- 21:51Speaker 2: But often I find it kind of boring to watch
- 21:56Speaker 2: because I know that he's not going to win unless
- 22:00Speaker 2: the bad he has some really really unique and compelling powers.
- 22:05Speaker 2: It's not usually like exciting for me. It's just sort
- 22:10Speaker 2: of like, all right, I have to get through this part,
- 22:13Speaker 2: you know, and this is a fight. Where initially I
- 22:20Speaker 2: was kind of doing the all right, well, we have
- 22:22Speaker 2: to get through this and category he like, I didn't
- 22:27Speaker 2: feel any particular way about him. He doesn't have a
- 22:29Speaker 2: lot of charisma. He seems like he's more sensible than
- 22:34Speaker 2: a lot of the other Henchmen children, But otherwise I
- 22:39Speaker 2: wasn't really like excited about him. It wasn't until I
- 22:43Speaker 2: began to realize that they almost have the exact same
- 22:46Speaker 2: power that I started to be like, oh, oh shit.
- 22:50Speaker 2: And then I got much more invested. And I will
- 22:55Speaker 2: say the one time Lufy says something very specifically like
- 22:58Speaker 2: no way does Mochi beat Rubber, and I couldn't help
- 23:04Speaker 2: but like laugh a little bit because I understand why
- 23:08Speaker 2: he's saying that, and like, probably probably true, but mochi
- 23:14Speaker 2: is when it doesn't have that like starchy layer over it, ooh,
- 23:19Speaker 2: it is real tough to deal with that is sticky.
- 23:24Speaker 2: So I don't know, maybe you know, I'm thinking about
- 23:28Speaker 2: how it was dealing with the electricity guy that was
- 23:32Speaker 2: putting himself up there as a god and his vulnerability
- 23:37Speaker 2: was rubber because Lufi didn't get electrocuted by him, and
- 23:44Speaker 2: I can't remember exactly what happened, but I'm wondering if, like,
- 23:49Speaker 2: if your power is using mochi and it starts to rain,
- 23:54Speaker 2: does that make you dissolve Just water interfere with the
- 23:58Speaker 2: effectiveness of his powers, because there are times where the
- 24:02Speaker 2: physics of what your weapon is seem to matter, but
- 24:07Speaker 2: then there are times where it kind of doesn't. Like,
- 24:10Speaker 2: you know, what we've got going on with uh Pedrosperro, Pedrosperro, Pedro, whatever,
- 24:17Speaker 2: I'll call him, Pedro. He can make candy on the
- 24:21Speaker 2: surface of the ocean and it's not affected at all
- 24:24Speaker 2: by being in contact with water. It doesn't matter. So
- 24:29Speaker 2: I kind of want the mouchie to have this like
- 24:31Speaker 2: vulnerability to water, but I also think that's probably not likely.
- 24:35Speaker 2: I don't know. Sorry, Saraphim says, I cannot say you
- 24:41Speaker 2: are wrong about their vibe regarding the long necks. I
- 24:44Speaker 2: think and like, I appreciate that because there are times
- 24:47Speaker 2: where something will leap to mind and I'm like, Natasha,
- 24:50Speaker 2: maybe you're thinking that because you're the freak. But sometimes
- 24:54Speaker 2: I'm like, no, no, I'm not the problem. Something about
- 24:57Speaker 2: this is weird andough. So so I'm going to back
- 25:03Speaker 2: up here and talk specifically about our friends doing the
- 25:09Speaker 2: Couda burst and escaping. It's really great because like nobody
- 25:13Speaker 2: seems aware that they that the ship has any flying
- 25:15Speaker 2: capabilities whatsoever, so when they do eventually take off, it
- 25:21Speaker 2: is a real shock to everybody. And at one point,
- 25:25Speaker 2: fat woman who has the really monotone voice and she's
- 25:28Speaker 2: like blue and has the big hat, she's like, they
- 25:30Speaker 2: escaped via the air, and somebody on the other end
- 25:34Speaker 2: of the line is like what I think it's mont
- 25:36Speaker 2: d'Ors is the one that she's talking to, and yeah,
- 25:41Speaker 2: this is a there was something really weird that happened here, guys,
- 25:46Speaker 2: And this is uh. I get crunchy roll drives me nuts.
- 25:53Speaker 2: It's just really not a good platform. It's annoying to
- 25:56Speaker 2: me that they have this like choke hold, because it
- 26:00Speaker 2: means that they don't have any motivation to improve their product.
- 26:04Speaker 2: But I find navigating the site to be very cumbersome.
- 26:09Speaker 2: They log me out constantly, and there are weird glitches
- 26:13Speaker 2: that happen where things just won't play at all on
- 26:16Speaker 2: my television and I have to like delete and redownload
- 26:19Speaker 2: the app. It happens so much more than with anything
- 26:21Speaker 2: else I use. And then today it did something that
- 26:26Speaker 2: I was truly like, what what is that at the
- 26:34Speaker 2: end of the first of these three episodes when our
- 26:39Speaker 2: friends shoot off and escape. Finally, it then started to
- 26:47Speaker 2: play the first episode of the Skypea arc, and like
- 26:54Speaker 2: it auto played it, and I don't know, I don't
- 26:58Speaker 2: know what happened, but like, there are times where the
- 27:04Speaker 2: show will suddenly seem to be like starting in the
- 27:08Speaker 2: middle of a story somewhere else and it will be
- 27:12Speaker 2: just like a flashback or a maybe a filler episode,
- 27:19Speaker 2: you know that we're not actually gonna talk about or whatever.
- 27:22Speaker 2: And so I like sat through the first i don't know,
- 27:27Speaker 2: like eight minutes of that episode thinking that this was
- 27:31Speaker 2: a flashback, because even though it didn't seem relevant. We
- 27:38Speaker 2: did just fly away and skypea you can only reach
- 27:45Speaker 2: like up in the air, so I almost thought, like,
- 27:49Speaker 2: are we gonna hit another sky island now that we
- 27:52Speaker 2: did the coupe of verse is like, is this a
- 27:54Speaker 2: flashback to remind us that the sky islands exist? Or
- 27:59Speaker 2: I was so confused, And then I finally like just
- 28:03Speaker 2: clicked and checked the number of the episode, and I
- 28:05Speaker 2: was like, what. So I got out of there and
- 28:09Speaker 2: I got back to where I was supposed to be.
- 28:12Speaker 2: But I just wanted to mention that because it was
- 28:15Speaker 2: like just relevant enough that I wasn't sure, you know.
- 28:22Speaker 2: So I don't want to skip over what all is
- 28:25Speaker 2: going on with Carrot because honestly, it sucks. So we
- 28:32Speaker 2: had Pedro who sacrificed himself at the end of the
- 28:36Speaker 2: last episode with the dynamite in order to kill Pero,
- 28:41Speaker 2: and then there's something kind of weird, and I don't
- 28:45Speaker 2: really I don't really get this, but I'm interested with
- 28:50Speaker 2: in what you guys are, what your explanation is. No,
- 28:58Speaker 2: me and Carrot are on the ship, they're about to leave.
- 29:03Speaker 2: They turn and they see like this huge cloud of
- 29:06Speaker 2: dust and whatnot, and I think, uh, oh, my god,
- 29:15Speaker 2: what I will have somebody's name in my hand, and
- 29:18Speaker 2: then all of a sudden, I don't have it anymore.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Kadakori suddenly goes wait, no, not now, which I'm not
- 29:28Speaker 2: really sure who that was directed at, if it was
- 29:30Speaker 2: at Pero or what. But Pero stands up and Nami
- 29:36Speaker 2: and Carrot both for a moment think that it's actually
- 29:44Speaker 2: Pedro and that he has survived, and then they see
- 29:49Speaker 2: that it's Pero and that he like, basically, if he's
- 29:57Speaker 2: still alive, then Pedro gave his life for fucking nothing.
- 30:02Speaker 2: But then later when Big Mom is crossing the water
- 30:07Speaker 2: toward them, there's this whole thing with like, oh, I
- 30:13Speaker 2: know there's only one person with that power. Oh, it's him.
- 30:18Speaker 2: He survived. Didn't we know that already? It was a
- 30:24Speaker 2: really weird moment, y'all, where I was like, did I
- 30:26Speaker 2: fucking hallucinate that whole reveal that happened in the first
- 30:30Speaker 2: of these three episodes or what? I just like, I
- 30:33Speaker 2: don't know if it was that they saw this guy
- 30:35Speaker 2: and they they thought like, oh, he's managed to stay
- 30:40Speaker 2: alive until this point, but he's about to die. I
- 30:45Speaker 2: don't know. I don't know what it is that I'm
- 30:48Speaker 2: meant to have thought there, but I really didn't understand
- 30:53Speaker 2: why it was. This reveal was treated like this again
- 30:57Speaker 2: because we all know, we all saw it. It was
- 31:00Speaker 2: like a whole thing. So Florian says, yeah, this is weird.
- 31:06Speaker 2: I don't know if this is only anime, and Saraphim says,
- 31:08Speaker 2: sounds like it might be an adaptation issue, okay, because
- 31:12Speaker 2: like I was just I actually like kind of thought
- 31:18Speaker 2: about going back and rechecking, and I was just like, no,
- 31:21Speaker 2: I remember that moment. I don't have to check. I
- 31:24Speaker 2: just watched it. So anyway, we have flashbacks with Carrot
- 31:31Speaker 2: and we find out that like there had been this
- 31:34Speaker 2: dude was trying to teach Carot how to sword fight
- 31:37Speaker 2: and she just wasn't really great at it, and he
- 31:39Speaker 2: was insisting that she needed to apply herself and he
- 31:43Speaker 2: was going to be a drill sergeant and eventually make
- 31:46Speaker 2: her a good sword fighter. And then Pedro just sort
- 31:52Speaker 2: of like chimes in, Hey, sword fighting is not her thing.
- 31:58Speaker 2: There are plenty of ways is to be a good fighter.
- 32:01Speaker 2: She doesn't need to do sword fighting. If she doesn't
- 32:04Speaker 2: like it and she's not good at it, it's fine.
- 32:08Speaker 2: And I just really liked this moment because I feel
- 32:11Speaker 2: like this is something that inadvertently this show can I
- 32:17Speaker 2: feel send kind of like a toxic message a little bit,
- 32:21Speaker 2: where it's often feeling like just keep going and never
- 32:25Speaker 2: give up, and eventually you have to succeed if you
- 32:28Speaker 2: just try hard enough, and it's like, no, no, there
- 32:32Speaker 2: are definitely times where sure that's true, but there are
- 32:38Speaker 2: also times where you've got to let shit go and
- 32:42Speaker 2: see that that's not for you, you know. And I there
- 32:50Speaker 2: was this I don't know how many of y'all out
- 32:54Speaker 2: there have even heard of this, but a Netflix Christmas
- 32:58Speaker 2: movie called Last Christmas, and I was genuinely surprised at
- 33:04Speaker 2: how much I enjoyed this. It has what is her name,
- 33:10Speaker 2: Amelia Clark Denaris. She plays this like kind of train
- 33:14Speaker 2: wreck of a young woman who is trying to kind
- 33:20Speaker 2: of get her life together after something that happened to her,
- 33:24Speaker 2: but she's not trying that hard and is sort of
- 33:28Speaker 2: making everyone around her miserable because she's so unreliable and
- 33:32Speaker 2: not really taking responsibility for anything, and she's determined to
- 33:37Speaker 2: make it as a singer, and it's very much her
- 33:41Speaker 2: clinging to something that had been a dream when she
- 33:44Speaker 2: was little that she's refusing to let go of despite
- 33:47Speaker 2: the fact that it is very clearly just not going
- 33:50Speaker 2: to happen for her. And I am used to these
- 33:55Speaker 2: sorts of movies sending a similar message as what one
- 33:59Speaker 2: Piece often, which is simply eventually it will happen for
- 34:03Speaker 2: you if you just believe, you know. But the eventually
- 34:08Speaker 2: conclusion that she does come to is I think it's
- 34:11Speaker 2: time to let go of this. That continuing to attempt
- 34:16Speaker 2: to do this isn't healthy, not only because I'm putting
- 34:22Speaker 2: so much energy into something that isn't going anywhere, but
- 34:25Speaker 2: also because just constantly thinking about how you're going to
- 34:30Speaker 2: be seen by the folks who are doing the audition
- 34:34Speaker 2: it can really wear on your self esteem because showbiz
- 34:38Speaker 2: is hard, you know, and there will be some really
- 34:40Speaker 2: like harsh commentary and whatnot. And so she gives up
- 34:45Speaker 2: and decides like, I'll sing for fun, but I'm not
- 34:48Speaker 2: going to try and make that a career anymore. And
- 34:51Speaker 2: I just really really appreciated that, because it does feel
- 34:55Speaker 2: like we're you know, sold this like dream, and I
- 35:01Speaker 2: understand wanting to encourage people to keep pursuing things even
- 35:06Speaker 2: after stuff gets hard. Because it is a very human
- 35:11Speaker 2: thing that once it gets hard, you immediately are like,
- 35:13Speaker 2: never mind, I give up. But there are times where
- 35:17Speaker 2: something is just not quite right for you and you
- 35:20Speaker 2: want it for maybe the wrong reasons. You want it
- 35:23Speaker 2: because you know it would make your parents happy. You
- 35:27Speaker 2: want it because your friends are successful in this and
- 35:30Speaker 2: you want to do what they do. You know, there's
- 35:33Speaker 2: a million reasons that actually are not even about you
- 35:37Speaker 2: wanting something. It's you wanting the result of getting the
- 35:40Speaker 2: thing more than anything. So the fact that Pedro sees
- 35:48Speaker 2: that she has potential, but it's just in a different direction.
- 35:51Speaker 2: And it's not just that she is a failure at
- 35:55Speaker 2: sword play, but that sword play is simply not her thing.
- 35:59Speaker 2: But she is fast and agile, and she does have
- 36:03Speaker 2: good instincts, and it's just that we have to employ
- 36:07Speaker 2: those the right way. And it was a really nice
- 36:13Speaker 2: flashback that was not too syrupy. You know, it wasn't
- 36:18Speaker 2: like he did anything like you know, saved her life,
- 36:23Speaker 2: for saved the life of a loved warner. It was
- 36:26Speaker 2: just the fact that he was patient and saw her
- 36:29Speaker 2: and engaged with her on the level she was at
- 36:33Speaker 2: and made it her feel like where she was okay,
- 36:37Speaker 2: you know, and her dealing with his death is really
- 36:46Speaker 2: hard to watch. It's awful. There comes a point where
- 36:50Speaker 2: later on, Brooke innocently is just like, oh, by the way,
- 36:57Speaker 2: where's Pedro And he doesn't know yet, and it's just like,
- 37:03Speaker 2: you know, this scene of Nami going I don't even
- 37:06Speaker 2: know how to say this, and we have the rain
- 37:10Speaker 2: and the camera sort of pulling out and you know,
- 37:12Speaker 2: the whole thing. Now. I will say, guys, for the record,
- 37:17Speaker 2: if it turns out that Pedro is still alive after
- 37:21Speaker 2: all of this, I will rip my house down, like
- 37:26Speaker 2: they better fucking not. We cannot have this really moving
- 37:34Speaker 2: scene of Nammy informing them and then Pedro is still alive.
- 37:40Speaker 2: I just can't better fucking not. I will be really annoyed.
- 37:44Speaker 2: And I know it's foolish of me to even like
- 37:47Speaker 2: be thinking that, because I am watching a show where
- 37:51Speaker 2: notoriously nobody dies. I get it, I get it. But
- 37:57Speaker 2: this this whole moment and how it's handled feels so
- 38:04Speaker 2: well done that if it turns out it's all been
- 38:08Speaker 2: just to like play on emotions and manipulate me, just
- 38:12Speaker 2: to like pull the rug out from under me later
- 38:14Speaker 2: and be like psych, I'll be very, very fucking irritated.
- 38:18Speaker 2: I'm just saying. Oh, Saraphim went and looked up the
- 38:22Speaker 2: thing about them being shocked a second time that Pero
- 38:26Speaker 2: was alive. Sarahim says, yeah, looked it up. It's an
- 38:29Speaker 2: anime padding issue of them just dragging out the whole
- 38:32Speaker 2: scene and splitting up what was one continuous scene. There
- 38:36Speaker 2: was no big mom knocking out one of the cola
- 38:39Speaker 2: barrels delaying the launch in the manga. Oh oh oh, okay, okay,
- 38:49Speaker 2: that makes sense. I like the knocking out and delaying
- 38:53Speaker 2: the launch. I think that adds some good tension. So
- 38:56Speaker 2: I actually like that, But I do think it's a
- 38:59Speaker 2: weird choice to have them spot him that early, if
- 39:05Speaker 2: you know what I mean. Like I just it was
- 39:10Speaker 2: just a weird direction to take that in if you're
- 39:13Speaker 2: going to do that, because that the very nature of
- 39:16Speaker 2: a reveal is that it can only really happen one time,
- 39:19Speaker 2: So why not just I don't know. Anyway, So were
- 39:28Speaker 2: our friends managed to get in the air get away
- 39:33Speaker 2: informed about Pedro and then we have this whole scene
- 39:36Speaker 2: where Brooke is really taking it hard, crying and saying
- 39:40Speaker 2: that if he had just been like better at everything,
- 39:44Speaker 2: then Pedro wouldn't be dead. And this is one of
- 39:49Speaker 2: those emotions that's so difficult to watch in somebody else,
- 39:54Speaker 2: but when it's you, it's really difficult to like not
- 40:00Speaker 2: feel that kind of guilt. Last year, like last summer,
- 40:07Speaker 2: we had this adorable kitten that we found and you know,
- 40:11Speaker 2: we got her spade and we did all the things,
- 40:14Speaker 2: and then she got hit by a car and died.
- 40:17Speaker 2: And she got hit by a car because she escaped
- 40:20Speaker 2: the house while I was the one at home watching her,
- 40:24Speaker 2: and she escaped the house every day. We did our best,
- 40:28Speaker 2: but she wanted out, and she was really tiny, so
- 40:31Speaker 2: it was very, very difficult to like stop her without
- 40:35Speaker 2: just stomping on her, and she would get out and
- 40:39Speaker 2: immediately climb up a tree and go on the roof
- 40:42Speaker 2: where we couldn't reach her. So what we had started
- 40:46Speaker 2: to do was simply go inside, and eventually she would
- 40:49Speaker 2: get sick of it on the roof and you would
- 40:52Speaker 2: go out there and like lure her down and she'd
- 40:55Speaker 2: finally be willing to come in because she was stuck
- 40:58Speaker 2: on the roof for so long. But as she got older,
- 41:03Speaker 2: she began to be able to get back down off
- 41:06Speaker 2: the roof on her own. She wouldn't do it, though,
- 41:10Speaker 2: for like hours after she had snuck out, so it
- 41:14Speaker 2: wasn't like I could just sit outside and wait for
- 41:17Speaker 2: her to finally jump down and then grip her up
- 41:20Speaker 2: and bring her in. And this night I knew she
- 41:25Speaker 2: was outside, but I couldn't reach her. There was simply
- 41:29Speaker 2: nothing to be done. I could not catch her, and
- 41:33Speaker 2: so I went inside and I was watching TV and
- 41:37Speaker 2: my husband came in and his eyes were full of tears,
- 41:40Speaker 2: and he had found her in the road. And when
- 41:43Speaker 2: I tell you, guys that, I just absolutely fell apart.
- 41:49Speaker 2: I have never felt such guilt as I did with
- 41:56Speaker 2: her death. It was just overwhelming. And looking back, I
- 42:02Speaker 2: can see there was only so much I could have done,
- 42:05Speaker 2: you know, But at that moment, it was definitely it's
- 42:12Speaker 2: my fault. If I had been more responsible, she'd still
- 42:16Speaker 2: be alive. And I could not shake the certainty of
- 42:21Speaker 2: that for weeks weeks. There came a point eventually where
- 42:28Speaker 2: I stopped saying it out loud because I could see
- 42:33Speaker 2: that my husband was getting sick of hearing it. Frankly,
- 42:37Speaker 2: but I still definitely took responsibility for her death. And
- 42:45Speaker 2: it's just the most awful feeling, you know, like the
- 42:49Speaker 2: classic thinking back to all of the things that you
- 42:52Speaker 2: could have done differently and how things might have turned out,
- 42:55Speaker 2: and you know, and it was just I don't think
- 42:59Speaker 2: I've ever had any other like death like that that
- 43:03Speaker 2: was on my conscience. So it's the first time I'd
- 43:06Speaker 2: ever had experience with that particular type of guilt, and
- 43:09Speaker 2: it was just awful. So this like moment with Brooke
- 43:14Speaker 2: and the way that he just literally like falls to
- 43:16Speaker 2: his knees and starts crying, I was just like, oh, Broke,
- 43:20Speaker 2: I've been there, buddy. I really felt for him because,
- 43:23Speaker 2: like when I say that I fell to my knees,
- 43:26Speaker 2: I did. I'm not exaggerating. It sounds so dramatic, but
- 43:29Speaker 2: like I just, you know, I just collapsed. And it
- 43:35Speaker 2: made me react quite poorly to jim Bay in a
- 43:40Speaker 2: similar way as Brooke does. Now here's the thing. I
- 43:47Speaker 2: didn't realize how close we still were too big Mom
- 43:54Speaker 2: and the rest of the pirates. I really thought that
- 43:57Speaker 2: the Kouda births had gotten us far enough out of
- 43:59Speaker 2: their tears that we were going to be okay. And
- 44:06Speaker 2: so initially Jimbay being like you need to get it together.
- 44:10Speaker 2: I was like, dude, what the fuck? He says something
- 44:14Speaker 2: like we can't afford to fall apart right now, and
- 44:19Speaker 2: my immediate thought was like, this is the perfect time
- 44:22Speaker 2: to fall apart. You're on the ship alone, you're away,
- 44:29Speaker 2: Why can't what do you mean? And finally he actually says,
- 44:37Speaker 2: we're still in her territory. Pedro sacrificed himself to get
- 44:42Speaker 2: y'all out of here. Basically, do you think that he
- 44:46Speaker 2: killed himself so that y'all could get caught because you
- 44:49Speaker 2: were crying over him? Like, get fucking real? And once
- 44:57Speaker 2: he like fully explained it, I was like, okay, you
- 45:01Speaker 2: know what, that's fair. But I definitely initially was like,
- 45:04Speaker 2: what the fuck, dude? Ew and I loved Brooke being like,
- 45:09Speaker 2: what is the matter with you? Brooke is indignant, but
- 45:14Speaker 2: then in the end says my deepest apologies. He says
- 45:20Speaker 2: something like I see now that I was out of line,
- 45:23Speaker 2: which isn't really the way I would phrase it. Usually
- 45:26Speaker 2: out of line means that you did something like offensive,
- 45:28Speaker 2: which I wouldn't say is what happened here? I would
- 45:31Speaker 2: say say that after asking a woman to see her panties,
- 45:36Speaker 2: Brooke that's when that would be appropriate. But you know,
- 45:40Speaker 2: I digress. So they begin to get it together. Just
- 45:45Speaker 2: as surprise, here comes Big Mom literally like walking on
- 45:50Speaker 2: the surface of the water, and they're like, how wait what.
- 45:57Speaker 2: Carrot says, she's walking on the water, and Jimbae says,
- 46:02Speaker 2: don't be ridiculous, that's absurd, And after even though I
- 46:08Speaker 2: eventually saw things his way, after having just been annoyed
- 46:11Speaker 2: at Jembay for him to tell Carrot she's being ridiculous here,
- 46:15Speaker 2: I really was kind of over Jembay. I will not lie, guys.
- 46:18Speaker 2: I had a moment of like, fucking shut up, dude,
- 46:21Speaker 2: nobody asked you so this, uh, The reveal of Big
- 46:31Speaker 2: Mom coming at them, along with everybody else behind her
- 46:36Speaker 2: is it was a genuine surprise to me because I
- 46:39Speaker 2: just thought that they were Even when he says we're
- 46:41Speaker 2: still in her territory, I was like, Okay, well sure,
- 46:45Speaker 2: but we're still like in pretty good shape. And then
- 46:49Speaker 2: looking over and seeing that she's able to literally walk
- 46:52Speaker 2: to their ship, I was like, oh, oh no, And yeah,
- 46:57Speaker 2: it turns out that she's not actually walking on water,
- 46:59Speaker 2: she's walking on candy. Because Pero is here making his
- 47:04Speaker 2: little floating candy walkway that he does, which I maintain
- 47:09Speaker 2: is very cool and sucks. Okay, now we're going to
- 47:15Speaker 2: go over to what you all already know is my
- 47:19Speaker 2: favorite part, and that is Soany and Pudding. I love
- 47:26Speaker 2: it so much. I love it so much. It's so stupid,
- 47:33Speaker 2: it's so funny. Oh my god. So I had said
- 47:37Speaker 2: last time that I like officially really genuinely ship them.
- 47:41Speaker 2: I stand by that one hundred percent. And this episode,
- 47:45Speaker 2: if anything, because like what had been happening before, was
- 47:51Speaker 2: that Pudding was outwardly struggling with her like evil self
- 47:58Speaker 2: for evil instincts. In this section, it's not so much
- 48:03Speaker 2: that she's not outward because she does say a few
- 48:06Speaker 2: things out loud, but it does feel like it's a
- 48:10Speaker 2: little bit more internal this time, and she is. She's
- 48:17Speaker 2: like much more affected now than she had been by
- 48:24Speaker 2: him being nice to her at all. It's she's behaving
- 48:34Speaker 2: like Sanji. Anytime that he even like smiles at her,
- 48:39Speaker 2: she starts to completely fall apart, and I just like
- 48:46Speaker 2: Chaffon says something at one point like you need to
- 48:50Speaker 2: stop smiling at her. She obviously cannot handle it. She's
- 48:54Speaker 2: about to pass out and Sanji. You know, he can't
- 48:58Speaker 2: help it because he's into her, so he's just like, yeah,
- 49:02Speaker 2: what am I not? I'm not gonna smile at her.
- 49:04Speaker 2: Come on. There's also a mention a few times of
- 49:06Speaker 2: the fact that, like, the wedding didn't finish, which I
- 49:11Speaker 2: really thought that it had, and that they were like
- 49:13Speaker 2: officially married, but evidently shit doesn't work the same way.
- 49:20Speaker 2: You know. I think that this is sort of like
- 49:22Speaker 2: a translation thing where the way that our weddings work,
- 49:27Speaker 2: the words that they said would have signaled the end
- 49:29Speaker 2: of the ceremony and that it was completed, but I
- 49:32Speaker 2: think that it's not meant to have been that. So
- 49:38Speaker 2: we just have the two of them, Like first, she
- 49:41Speaker 2: doesn't she's wrapped up completely in this blanket with just
- 49:45Speaker 2: her eye poking out, and when Chafon's like, why are
- 49:53Speaker 2: you doing that? Just sit up and talk to us,
- 49:56Speaker 2: She's like, no, I can't let anybody see me with
- 50:00Speaker 2: because if they see us together, we're going to have
- 50:03Speaker 2: to explain because they're going to assume that he's my
- 50:07Speaker 2: husband and that we're on our honeymoon. And I love
- 50:09Speaker 2: Chiffon just being like what people, we're on a flying carpet,
- 50:15Speaker 2: it's the three of us, what are you talking about?
- 50:19Speaker 2: And she's just like, you never know who's watching, trust me,
- 50:24Speaker 2: I know. But as they get closer and closer to
- 50:29Speaker 2: the island, they structured things to make it look like
- 50:35Speaker 2: First of all, Sanchi is totally hidden and Chiffon is
- 50:41Speaker 2: wearing manacles, so it looks like she is under Puddings control.
- 50:50Speaker 2: Because apparently like news has traveled already, so folks know
- 50:55Speaker 2: that shit has fallen apart and why so put lands
- 51:00Speaker 2: and explains to everybody about the hunger pangs, and we
- 51:04Speaker 2: really need your help because unless we satisfy Big Mom's appetite,
- 51:09Speaker 2: a lot more people are going to die. And everybody
- 51:13Speaker 2: is like charmed by her because she's doing her like adorable, innocent,
- 51:18Speaker 2: sweet princess act and they're eating it up. And she
- 51:24Speaker 2: is able to requisition a bunch of chefs to help
- 51:28Speaker 2: them because they're making a very big cake. Reminder, this
- 51:33Speaker 2: is not like you know, I'm just gonna pull my
- 51:36Speaker 2: kitchen aid out. This is a big fucking project. So
- 51:41Speaker 2: these chefs evidently have like heard ahead of time that
- 51:45Speaker 2: there is going to be a need for them, and
- 51:47Speaker 2: they've gotten themselves in order already and are already like
- 51:53Speaker 2: sifting flour and you know, getting the basic stuff set up,
- 51:57Speaker 2: but they do not know what the is and Sanji
- 52:03Speaker 2: reveals that he has already drawn a diagram of the
- 52:08Speaker 2: cake itself and has written a recipe, which one of
- 52:14Speaker 2: the chefs is like, how did you do that without
- 52:17Speaker 2: even knowing what's in it? You never even tasted the cake,
- 52:22Speaker 2: And he says, by its scent, it's Chiffon that he's
- 52:29Speaker 2: talking to. And when he says by it sent Chiffon
- 52:32Speaker 2: gets this shocked look and then just says, this guy,
- 52:37Speaker 2: I really laughed at that. I don't know why, but
- 52:39Speaker 2: like this guy is the perfect response. So uh, anyway,
- 52:47Speaker 2: this does take me to a weird moment where they're
- 52:55Speaker 2: like talking to Sonji about what it is that he
- 52:58Speaker 2: needs and he starts listening off a bunch of ingredients
- 53:03Speaker 2: and y'all, look, I accept fully that there are going
- 53:07Speaker 2: to be plenty of cakes in Japan that are made
- 53:11Speaker 2: with different ingredients than what we would be making a
- 53:15Speaker 2: cake with, and that's fine, but we already heard very
- 53:20Speaker 2: distinctly earlier that this was a chocolate Chiffon cake. So
- 53:26Speaker 2: the fact that he is asking for sesame seeds and
- 53:30Speaker 2: banana is puzzling the shit out of me. I don't know.
- 53:36Speaker 2: Maybe this is supposed to be like the filling. Maybe
- 53:40Speaker 2: it's like there's layers and there's something in between the layers,
- 53:43Speaker 2: which perhaps could work with banana and chocolate do go together.
- 53:48Speaker 2: But it's just, you know, knowing that this is such
- 53:52Speaker 2: a specific cake and then him asking for ingredients that
- 53:57Speaker 2: feel like that what you know? So I stopped for
- 54:04Speaker 2: a second. I was like, uh, weird, but okay, sure,
- 54:11Speaker 2: Seraphim says the ingredients he's asking for are for the icing. God,
- 54:19Speaker 2: that's even weirder if it were filling. Maybe maybe it's
- 54:24Speaker 2: a translation thing and that's what it is.
- 54:27Speaker 1: You know.
- 54:29Speaker 2: But yeah, in like in the icing, even weirder. But
- 54:36Speaker 2: it's fine. What we get is Chiffon, not Cheffon. Pudding.
- 54:43Speaker 2: Is like, all right, I'm going to talk to these
- 54:47Speaker 2: chefs one at a time and alter their memories so
- 54:53Speaker 2: that to them the wedding went off without a hitch.
- 54:57Speaker 2: And Big Mom is just angry that the cake was
- 55:00Speaker 2: destroyed because it started to rain. But as far as
- 55:04Speaker 2: they know, you and I our husband and wife, and
- 55:09Speaker 2: there's a very strong sense of that wasn't necessary to
- 55:15Speaker 2: the story. Pudding just wants to be married, and so
- 55:19Speaker 2: she's being like, well, I had to for very similitude.
- 55:23Speaker 2: It was just necessary for our undercover, you know, like
- 55:26Speaker 2: uh huh, yeah, sure it was, sweetie, it's fine. Nobody
- 55:30Speaker 2: suspects a thing. And what happens later this guy's this
- 55:37Speaker 2: was really genuinely so funny because it's just what we've
- 55:42Speaker 2: seen happen with fucking Sanji, and it's like happening to
- 55:47Speaker 2: a woman about Sonjie is so unexpected, so she's, you know,
- 55:56Speaker 2: the two of them are also kind of going back
- 55:58Speaker 2: and forth, with each of them being just like like
- 56:00Speaker 2: heart eyes about each other. But this one guy is
- 56:04Speaker 2: talking about how Putting and Sanji working together as newlyweds
- 56:11Speaker 2: is actually really romantic and an unusual situation, and as
- 56:16Speaker 2: soon as he says like newlyweds, she gets that look
- 56:19Speaker 2: and steam starts coming off her head, and when he
- 56:24Speaker 2: says romantic, she bursts into flames. Sonji says, don't embarrass me,
- 56:28Speaker 2: I'm shy, but behind him, Putting literally collapses to the
- 56:33Speaker 2: ground on fire, and then the guy who's talking to
- 56:37Speaker 2: them says, Sanji, your wife fainted and she goes his
- 56:41Speaker 2: wife and she like convulses, and then this guy's like
- 56:44Speaker 2: your wife, your wife, your wife, and every time he
- 56:49Speaker 2: says it, she just like she's like completely convulses again,
- 56:53Speaker 2: over and over and Hifan has to be like, stop it,
- 56:57Speaker 2: you're killing her. This was really funny, and so yeah,
- 57:07Speaker 2: putting is like dancing around and then he says get up,
- 57:11Speaker 2: and she says he's bossing me around. Well, I like
- 57:13Speaker 2: a man who knows what he wants. And then she
- 57:16Speaker 2: stops herself and she's like no, wait, and then she says,
- 57:20Speaker 2: don't talk down to me like that again, or I
- 57:23Speaker 2: swear I'll skin you. But he does not acknowledge this
- 57:28Speaker 2: at all. He continues on talking about the kind of
- 57:31Speaker 2: milk they need, and in the background, she's still continuing
- 57:36Speaker 2: with her hearts around her, and when he doesn't acknowledge
- 57:40Speaker 2: what she said, she calls out, where is it? Because
- 57:44Speaker 2: this cracked me up? And I was like, this is
- 57:46Speaker 2: going into my personal arsenal. Where is it? Maybe it
- 57:52Speaker 2: happens a little bit later because she says something like,
- 57:56Speaker 2: why aren't you acknowledging my my It was worded so specifically,
- 58:03Speaker 2: I can't paraphrase it. It's not funny. If I paraphrase it,
- 58:07Speaker 2: I'll find it. It'll be up here at one point.
- 58:11Speaker 2: So yeah, Sonji is talking about how he is going
- 58:14Speaker 2: to be able to make a cake that is basically magical,
- 58:18Speaker 2: you know, the essence of true sweetness, and that this
- 58:22Speaker 2: is going to be like a challenge to his powers
- 58:24Speaker 2: as a chef. Ooh, I'm sorry, guys. I rubbed my
- 58:28Speaker 2: eyes and I don't know if I had like onion
- 58:31Speaker 2: juice on them, but they are burning now. This is
- 58:33Speaker 2: killing me. But yeah, they talk about like having to
- 58:36Speaker 2: bake the cake and then actually having to wait for
- 58:38Speaker 2: it to cool before they can like transport it. That
- 58:43Speaker 2: like the acknowledgment of the way that this would actually work.
- 58:48Speaker 2: I appreciate it, of course as somebody who bakes myself,
- 58:52Speaker 2: who knows that this is correct. But I was like,
- 58:55Speaker 2: oh my god, how long would a cake that size
- 58:58Speaker 2: take to cool off? I don't think twenty four hours
- 59:01Speaker 2: would be enough. Like if we're talking about really we're
- 59:03Speaker 2: baking a cake that's the size of it's almost like
- 59:08Speaker 2: the size of an ocean liner. You know what I'm saying.
- 59:10Speaker 2: It's it's I was going to say a house and
- 59:12Speaker 2: it's like so much bigger than a house. But there's
- 59:17Speaker 2: a couple of chefs who try to say, like this
- 59:19Speaker 2: pace is impossible. There is simply no way, and Chiffon
- 59:23Speaker 2: is like, we have to make it possible or people
- 59:27Speaker 2: are going to die, and they're like okay. So they
- 59:32Speaker 2: all basically do and break and they all head out
- 59:35Speaker 2: to do each of their respective tasks. And you know,
- 59:40Speaker 2: it's the danger of anything like this where you've established
- 59:44Speaker 2: how huge this cake is going to be, but then
- 59:47Speaker 2: you have like an individual with just a regular sized
- 59:50Speaker 2: bowl and a whisk doing their thing, and I'm just like,
- 59:52Speaker 2: this is useless. You're going to accomplish nothing. But yeah,
- 59:58Speaker 2: so the the chef's spirit is what Sanji calls it,
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: that he is going to prove that he has it
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: in him and this cake is going to change everything.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: Even Pudding is talking about how this chocolate is going
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: to like change fate itself something like that. So it
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: was a very cute. I just really enjoy them. I
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: really really ship them. I hope that something happens where
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: they can stay together and that she joins the straw hats.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: I don't know, it doesn't seem like it's like likely,
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: but I really really really want it, I really do.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: It's super fun as well, her still having this like
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: internal conflict. I think it's truly funny. I feel like
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: it's the sort of joke that's going to take a
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: while to get old because it's just it just it's
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: very inconvenient, and that makes it funnier, you know. Anyway, Okay,
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: I have to wrap up, but uh, this was a
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: fun section and looking forward to seeing how it all goes.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: And I'm I'm glad that like Sanji has something more
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: to do now because him just basically being a prisoner
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: until his wedding day, you know, like it wasn't like
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: he did nothing interesting because what was going on with
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: Putting in him discovering the truth about her and everything
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: was still interesting, but it did just sort of feel
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: like he's out here just cooling his heels. So I'm
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: excited that now we have, especially that it's him and
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: Putting paired up on a project together that they're like
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: jointly invested in. This is great. I love it all right,
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: I have to wrap up. Thank you guys again so
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: much for listening. I hope you guys are enjoying the coverage.
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: Thank you Florian for commissioning and for coming to the live.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: Thank you sarahm for being here, and until next time,
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: Delu motherfuckers
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: That was an unspoiled network past
