Transcript
- 0:00People always say, hey, like, you know, you or people like you
- 0:02who liked Hades, why don't you write it an album or a song
- 0:06like, you know, resisting success, the first Hades album.
- 0:08And I'm like, I can't, you know, I, I, I'm like the worst phony
- 0:12in the world as far as like, I don't know how to put a tie on.
- 0:15I don't know how to act corporate, you know, I don't
- 0:18think about what I should write. It just comes out, you know?
- 0:27What's up everybodyitskefi@ghostcoltmag.com
- 0:30I'm super stoked today to be joined by Dan Lorenzo of
- 0:33Patriarchs in Black. How are you doing, brother?
- 0:35Everything is good. Isn't it?
- 0:37You know, the world can be falling apart, but we still have
- 0:40music and we still have this community, which I'm super
- 0:43grateful for. Yeah, the world is a little
- 0:45crazy, but you know, I'm in my own little cocoon here with my
- 0:48wife and, you know, I live in a gated community, man.
- 0:51As soon as I go out, I'm like, what the fuck is going on?
- 0:54But everything's good in my little circle, you know?
- 0:56Yeah, for real. It's like man, but everywhere.
- 1:02But yeah, man, new album Homecoming out soon on one of my
- 1:05favorite labels. And I'm not just saying that.
- 1:07People who watch our channel know that We have interviewed
- 1:10most of the Meadowville artists. They do a great job in my
- 1:13opinion. They have underground artists,
- 1:15they have well known artists, and they treat them all the
- 1:17same. So first of all, I see.
- 1:19I hope that's been a fruitful relationship for you because you
- 1:23know, it's still the music business.
- 1:24I'm fond of saying it's the music business, not the music
- 1:26friendship. But if you can work with your
- 1:28friends, it's better. Yeah, yeah, Now everything's
- 1:30going good. This is our second record with
- 1:32them, our fourth album overall if you don't include our cover
- 1:35CD. So yeah, we've been, like I
- 1:38said, this is the second album with Metal Ville and people seem
- 1:41to be loving it, you know, so I'm.
- 1:43I'm stoked. I love the covers man.
- 1:44Like every band starts out as a covers band, but when you have
- 1:48like upper echelon people playing and making covers, it's
- 1:51always a great hoot. Yeah, and as you know, we have
- 1:54different singers on every song, so it's been really fun giving
- 1:58different songs to different singers and come and be seeing
- 2:00what they come back with, you know?
- 2:02Right on. Let's back it up for a second
- 2:04and talk exactly about that, because I thought it was a super
- 2:07awesome approach. Obviously, you know, you could
- 2:10work with anybody. There are some unbelievable
- 2:12singers on this record, so many bangers and so many wonderful
- 2:16vocal performances. Did you write?
- 2:18Did you and Johnny write with people in mind or did you write,
- 2:21start this project like every song is going to have a
- 2:23different singer and I'm going to write to that singer?
- 2:25Or did you write the material in and say, you know, who would be
- 2:27good on this so and so? How'd you go?
- 2:29Yeah, the second one. So basically, you know, I just
- 2:33write people always say, hey, like, you know, you were people
- 2:36like you who liked Hades. Why don't you write it an album
- 2:39or a song like, you know, resisting success, the first
- 2:41Hades album. And I'm like, I can't, you know,
- 2:43I, I, I'm like the worst phony in the world as far as like, I
- 2:47don't know how to put a tie on. I don't know how to act
- 2:50corporate. I don't know how to, you know, I
- 2:52don't think about what I should write.
- 2:54I shit just comes out, you know. So, you know, I, we in the old
- 2:59days, I used to have, we used to have Hades rehearsals and I come
- 3:02up with the riff and I, this is before like you could even
- 3:05record things on a four track. I remember distinctly my
- 3:07drummer, Tom Coombs, like I'd write a riff.
- 3:09He's like play that again and he'd do this and he like I would
- 3:12play it again and again and again.
- 3:14And, and it's like I have a really short ass attention span.
- 3:18So that wasn't really conducive to me because the Haiti's guys
- 3:22wanted to rehearse 3 * a week, whether we're doing shows or
- 3:25not. And then when I started
- 3:26nonfiction, it was a lot more spontaneity, which for me is
- 3:30awesome. And with with Patriarchs in
- 3:32Black, I just go upstairs or wherever sometimes in my car and
- 3:37I write and I record it. And then I, you know, go to my
- 3:40buddy's house, my buddy studio J Rod.
- 3:42I record to a click track. So the song is finished.
- 3:45Like my parts are finished by the time anybody else hears it.
- 3:48I send it to Johnny. There's the drums.
- 3:50And then I, you know, in my head I hear vocals and melodies and
- 3:54lyrics sometimes. And then sometimes the singer's
- 3:56like, no, no, no. I want to write my own stuff to
- 3:59it. You know, that happens more
- 4:00often than not. So I let I just think about
- 4:03whose voice would be good for the song, you know?
- 4:05Great. Thanks for unpacking that for
- 4:07us. And yeah, such a killer record.
- 4:09I really can't wait for people to hear this thing.
- 4:12And it seems like you made a record with a lot of your
- 4:14friends. So that's really cool that you
- 4:16or you make or you became friends if you weren't already.
- 4:20But I know though, these are, you know, some in some cases
- 4:23close associates to yours and people, you know, just, you
- 4:27know, you and Johnny know from the business.
- 4:29I think it's a a great collection of people who
- 4:31surprised you the most with their the job they did.
- 4:34Let's think. So.
- 4:35There's this guy named Joe Ferrara.
- 4:38I wrote a song. It had a temporary title called
- 4:40White Dog, and it became a Storm King.
- 4:43But I had given it to Carl, like when I gave him the call like a
- 4:47year ago. And I said to Carl, I said, man,
- 4:50I have melody and lyrics for this song.
- 4:52The call, it was called something Different.
- 4:54And I fucking loved it. It's like, no, I don't want to
- 4:56hear it, man. You know, let me work.
- 4:58I'm like, all right. So like a few months go by, I'm
- 5:00like, yo, man, you sure I can't send you what I have?
- 5:02It's like, no, no, no, just hang on.
- 5:03Don't do that. I'm going.
- 5:04So he eventually wrote something, and he never finished
- 5:07this, the tentative title song White Dog, which became Storm
- 5:10King. So I'm like, shit, man, I want
- 5:12this song on the record. So there's a band around here.
- 5:15They really play in Maryland more often in Connecticut called
- 5:18the Amish Outlaws. And their bass player has been a
- 5:20fan of mine since he was 14 years old.
- 5:23And the singer sent me a text out of the blue, just like, hey,
- 5:27man, I have this great singer for you if you ever need
- 5:30anybody. I'm like, you know what?
- 5:31I, I, I never saw. I want to get in the record, but
- 5:34it's not going to be enough time.
- 5:36This guy, Joe Ferrara, who I never heard of before.
- 5:39I mean, maybe I saw him because I've seen the Amish outlaws a
- 5:41lot, but I didn't remember him. And he sang his ass off in less
- 5:45than 24 hours. He sent me a finished song that
- 5:49has been sitting around there with drums and Johnny Araya, you
- 5:52know, Tom Araya's brother. He played bass guitar on it like
- 5:55months ago. And the record had to be handed
- 5:58in. And Joe finished the song like
- 6:0024 hours after I gave it to him and his vocals just rushed it.
- 6:03So that was really cool. And then like, you know, the
- 6:06last person I spoke with on the phone was DMC.
- 6:08It's still funny to me that, you know, he's involved with me.
- 6:11He loves my riffs, He loves patriarchs and blacks.
- 6:14So that's like still surprising to me, even though we've written
- 6:16like, I guess 123 songs for Yorks and Black together in
- 6:20about 7 or 8 songs for DMC and me, you know?
- 6:23Amazing. Yeah.
- 6:24We're big DMC fans and that's a great story about Joe.
- 6:29Yeah. Carl, of course, is Carl Agell.
- 6:31People know him best from COC Blind, but of course Carl is
- 6:35currently the singer of several bands.
- 6:37The Skull, like Heavy. Carl's a huge influence of mine
- 6:41personally, and I've been very lucky to interview him a few
- 6:44times. And even like remembered like a
- 6:4610 year gap of interviews. There's like, yeah, yeah, you
- 6:49were so cool. I was like, well, you're so
- 6:51cool. So and then yes, such a great,
- 6:54just a wonderful dude. His vocals crush on that song.
- 6:58And then Kyle from X Order kicks things off with a very X Order
- 7:02sounding song, like a very swampy NOLA metal song.
- 7:07Kyle's very versatile and incredibles.
- 7:09Another dude who could sing the phone book and it would sound
- 7:12great. You know, I will say Dewey Bragg
- 7:15from Kill Devil Hill, his not his performance because I know
- 7:18the guy has incredible pipes. But that song surprised me with
- 7:22what he put on it because I think people will not, will be
- 7:25very surprised to hear this very beautiful angelic voice come
- 7:30from this hard ass biker looking dude, right?
- 7:32Yeah, I was just texting with him last night.
- 7:34So I actually wrote that those lyrics in the melody line.
- 7:37And that was the song is called Frisian.
- 7:40And I titled the song that because the messing around on
- 7:44Instagram contacting tattoo artist, which is what I do for a
- 7:47living. And it said the word Frisian is
- 7:50something like, you know what music gives you goosebumps?
- 7:53That's Frisian, you know, so I'm like, oh, that's a really that's
- 7:56AI never knew that. That's a cool title for a song.
- 7:58And Johnny's mom passed away. Johnny Kelly's mom passed away
- 8:02while we were making this record.
- 8:04And so did my younger cousin. And the song is basically about
- 8:08somebody in a hospital room. It's like going into the
- 8:10hospital room. You can stay for a while or stay
- 8:12till the end, meaning the end of life.
- 8:14And I've waited my whole life to sing you this song.
- 8:17But my now my time's over. It's time to go home.
- 8:21And that's what the album means. Home means like where I am right
- 8:24now, but it also means up there like, you know, when you pass
- 8:27away and, or when you're driving and your navigation's like, you
- 8:31know, you hit your address take taking you home.
- 8:34The word just comes up a lot for me lately and I I thought it had
- 8:37like a cool just vibe of, you know, all the different
- 8:40connotations of the word home. But yeah, do we.
- 8:44I knew he'd crush anything. He could sing.
- 8:46I've sent, he sang on our first album and I've sent him a couple
- 8:49things after that, but he didn't have time or just, it took him a
- 8:53while, but I sent him this. I'm like, man, I need you to
- 8:56sing this. So I sent it to him with me
- 8:58singing, you know, really poorly.
- 9:00I'm not a great singer, not even a good singer, but I had the
- 9:03lyrics to the Melly and I don't even play on that song.
- 9:05You know, I just, I wrote the violin parts, the Viola and the
- 9:09lyrics to the melody. So it's probably the first song
- 9:11I ever played on or the first song I've ever had on a record
- 9:14where I'm not even playing on the song.
- 9:16You know, right on. Maybe that's a an unexplored
- 9:20extra talent now arranging and scoring and things like, you
- 9:24know, classical music is. We know I can't play hardly
- 9:28anymore. I got so much pain from my wrist
- 9:30from up to here. It hurts when I play.
- 9:31So maybe that's the future for me.
- 9:33Oh, no. Well, I'm sure you can see a
- 9:36specialist about that, you know. You know, first of all, I'm
- 9:41sorry for your loss. We talked to Johnny right after
- 9:43his mom passed away too. So I'm deeply sorry to hear
- 9:45that. And you wrote a very nice
- 9:48message on my personal Instagram that I don't barely use anymore
- 9:51about my, you know, like my Last Post, I don't post there much.
- 9:54I have I have like ghost cult accounts that I will manage
- 9:57also. But thank you for that very nice
- 9:58message about my mom because my mom passed away and it was a
- 10:01very similar thing. And that song made so much sense
- 10:04to me. And the album makes a lot more
- 10:05sense to me now. So thank you for your, you know,
- 10:08very it's compassion and empathy or lacking in the world.
- 10:11So maybe we can inject it back with art and music, right.
- 10:16So, you know, I imagine like every guitar player you just
- 10:19have you jam and you write riffs.
- 10:22But like obviously like every guitar player has like, oh, that
- 10:24riff I never used or that demo I never saw all the way through
- 10:28last time. But you know, I it's it feels
- 10:31very fresh. It does feel like an out on one
- 10:33hand. It's like, you know, I always
- 10:34feel with you. I know what your influences are.
- 10:36No, Johnnys influences from from project to project, drum to
- 10:40drum, tuning to tuning. I know how he does.
- 10:42But for you, like I imagine, like, you know, it's a whole new
- 10:46process when you're writing for, you know, oh, the record.
- 10:48I'm going to write a new record and I'm going to collect ideas
- 10:51and I'm going to put them down. Do you?
- 10:53Do you? I see you do a lot of pre
- 10:55production and demoing yourself. Do do you do a lot of demo
- 10:58processes before you even share that stuff?
- 11:01No. So what I do is just like, like
- 11:04I said, for the song, the call, the one that Carl Lagel sings
- 11:07and John JD Deservio from Black Label Society on base, I was
- 11:11either checking out of a hotel with my wife or I was driving in
- 11:15my car and I went Bow Wow. Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow.
- 11:20You know, and I I hummed that into my phone.
- 11:23I'm like, this is fucking happening, this riff.
- 11:25So I come home and Bobby Blitz once said something about me
- 11:28really nice that I'll never forget.
- 11:29And he's right. Like I hear the riff on my head.
- 11:32I don't I think I don't know how to play it.
- 11:34But then I pick up a guitar and I just start playing it in the
- 11:36right key. Like I have a couple different
- 11:38guitars upstairs. I always seem to pick the right
- 11:39guitar with the right tuning, But so I I'll play that and then
- 11:44I'll mess around with that riff and then I, I just played it
- 11:48over and over again. And then where I see where it
- 11:50takes me and then it takes me to the chorus and then I'm like,
- 11:53OK, now where's the next step? So I don't really like, I don't
- 11:56jam as far as like I don't jam with like Johnny and I have
- 11:59never jammed together, believe it or not, in the same room.
- 12:02We've never done that, but I have an idea of how I want to
- 12:06lay this song out. And then what I do, Keith, is I
- 12:09just say if the song is like, almost together Monday night,
- 12:13I'll text my engineer like, yo, you got some recording time for
- 12:16me Wednesday, Thursday or next week.
- 12:18And then whatever he says, like, yeah, next week.
- 12:20And I'm like, now I got to bear down and arrange this song the
- 12:23right way, like in this usually songs done 100% of range until
- 12:28he books time for me. And then I'm like, I got it.
- 12:30I got to figure this out, you know.
- 12:32Well, that little self pressure is probably really good for you.
- 12:35Like that's a good expectation to set for yourself.
- 12:38Like time, time management, man, just like everything else in
- 12:41life, right? And you're doing this around
- 12:45family and around your career outside of music and everything.
- 12:48So respect, man, much respect. But yeah, it's a it's a great
- 12:52sound in record. You, you and your crew have
- 12:54great ears. And I'm still a fan of albums.
- 12:57I grew up listening to albums on vinyl.
- 12:59I went through all the things, tapes and CDs.
- 13:02I love a sequenced album. And even though all these songs
- 13:06have different singers, it still sounds like patriarch to black.
- 13:09And it's, it's really well, like it's a real good journey to
- 13:12listen to from start to finish personally.
- 13:15Yeah, I, I really think Visioning was one of our.
- 13:18I mean, people always say, oh, this is the best record, this
- 13:20whatever. I thought Visioning was like,
- 13:23that's an album that had to be listened to as an album, the
- 13:26previous album. Not that it didn't make sense
- 13:29song by song, but I, I really like, yeah, an album.
- 13:32And, you know, there's some people who's like, oh, it's hard
- 13:34to have continuity with all different singers.
- 13:36But it's like, you know, my Spotify playlist, it goes all
- 13:39over the map. But to me, it, there's
- 13:41continuity in there. It's just fucking great music,
- 13:44you know? So thank you for your kind
- 13:45words. Yeah, no worries.
- 13:47So these are the things that matter to me, the listener.
- 13:50And I also have a podcast about vinyl where we listen to whole
- 13:52discographies and yell at each other and disagree.
- 13:55It's awesome. But like, yeah, listening.
- 13:57I still care about records. I know that they say that half
- 14:00the people that have like, buy records don't even have a
- 14:03turntable. But you know what?
- 14:05You're supporting a band you love if that's your jam, and at
- 14:09least take them out of the plastic, because they do shrink.
- 14:11They shrink overtime. You don't want to warp your
- 14:13records, even if you're never going to play them.
- 14:15They're beautiful. I'm sure it's like, amazing to
- 14:17you to have vinyl now, having sold tapes out of your car and
- 14:21it shows in the 80s and 90s and CDs and now it's amazing to
- 14:26have, like, vinyl of these, this product.
- 14:28I know Metalville does a very nice job on the physical stuff.
- 14:32Yeah. I got a Radley Aaron record from
- 14:34them that they sent me after talking to Lee.
- 14:36And I love Lee. Like, she was like, seriously,
- 14:39you remember that? I was like, how could I not?
- 14:41I had the I used to carry my little Denon cassette tape bag
- 14:44around with me everywhere in high school with the orange
- 14:47headphones that were terrible and everybody.
- 14:49Was that's a crush on her in the 80s, I must say.
- 14:52Gorgeous and still beautiful and like the incredibly nice and
- 14:57humble also. She'd be.
- 14:58Maybe for the next record you could get her on a song.
- 15:01She's so talented. Meadowville.
- 15:03Make that happen for us. Yeah.
- 15:06Man, was there anybody you couldn't get that you wanted?
- 15:10Yeah, Phil Ensemble. I've asked.
- 15:13I reached out to him, never heard back.
- 15:14And he was a fan of nonfiction and Rex Brown.
- 15:17I texted him for the previous record.
- 15:20I said, hey, man, you know, how much would it cost to get you to
- 15:22do a song? He's like, dude, I do it for
- 15:24free, but I'm not allowed to right now.
- 15:26I'm contractually, I'm not allowed to.
- 15:28And then I think there was some people who just didn't respond.
- 15:32You know, I finally tracked down and we're doing writing a song
- 15:35together right now. Is this guy named Dan from a
- 15:38band called 60 Watts Shaman? I, I have loved his voice for
- 15:42years. I could never go to hold of him.
- 15:43Like of course I got a hold of him right after we handed in the
- 15:46home album. So we're actually writing a song
- 15:49together right now. He sent me some stuff he did the
- 15:53other night and I'm really psyched about it.
- 15:55So I did get a hold of him. You know, JD from Black Label
- 15:59Society is a huge New York Knicks fan, you know, and I'm
- 16:03wearing my Knicks jersey right now.
- 16:05Right on. That was really cool.
- 16:07I mean he and I have jammed actually.
- 16:08He played on the second album as well.
- 16:10And Bobby Blitz, every couple years or so he has like an All
- 16:13Star jam with like Chris Caffery and he lets me hang out with the
- 16:17All Stars. And we do like covers, you know,
- 16:19every now and then. Blitz we, I wrote the first song
- 16:24hymns for the Heretic, for him. He I misunderstood him, it turns
- 16:28out. I thought he wanted to be
- 16:30involved like he's always he's a big fan of my riffs.
- 16:33We know we did the Curse record together.
- 16:35He's always been so nice to me, complimentary of my songwriting.
- 16:39But he doesn't want to be what he says. 1 of many he doesn't
- 16:43want to be 1 of 10 singers on the record.
- 16:45And honestly, at this point in my life, Keith, I am having so
- 16:49much fun with this. Like as much as I say love
- 16:51Vessel of Light, that was my band previous to this and Nathan
- 16:55Opposition is such a fucking genius and I love Vessel of
- 16:58Light still right now. I can't even imagine doing a
- 17:01record with just one singer, you know?
- 17:02It's just, to me, it's so exciting having every song
- 17:06potentially sounds so different from the next one, you know?
- 17:09Right on, of course. Yeah, Blitz is great and JD is
- 17:11another Jersey guy and I love of all this Knicks love they
- 17:14finally had like a good season that we'll see what happens next
- 17:17year. I'm a very jaded old school
- 17:19Knicks fan because they won like 3 months before I was born and
- 17:23then never again. But luckily I'm a Yankees fan
- 17:27and the Giants have treated me pretty well except for the last
- 17:30couple of years so I can't be too mad.
- 17:31And Rangers in hockey. I would understand if you were a
- 17:33Devils fan because how could you not be?
- 17:35Hockey's I don't even watch hockey.
- 17:37So for me it goes like basketball and then baseball and
- 17:40then I grew up a baseball player.
- 17:43But I'm just obsessed with the New York Knicks like that.
- 17:45Yeah, yeah, they finally have a good team.
- 17:47Yeah, let's see what happens. I hope next year they take it
- 17:50another step forward. League isn't league isn't
- 17:52parody. They anybody could win now.
- 17:55I'm excited. I I hope we, I hope we win.
- 17:57But yeah, maybe the Knicks can have you out there and play the
- 18:00anthem or something. They need the luck.
- 18:02I don't think, I don't think James Dolan would let me take
- 18:05the guitar out of his hands. Oh, fair enough.
- 18:08Yeah, right. He is a big guitar collection,
- 18:09right? So yeah, man, just the killer
- 18:12album. Fun hearing about those things
- 18:15outside of those who you already mentioned, obviously.
- 18:18Yeah, DMC, man, the guy is a legend.
- 18:21That whole track is incredible. It really, it's also, I think
- 18:26people are going to really key in on that.
- 18:27I don't know if it's going to be a single, but maybe it should be
- 18:30that. I listen to that track a bunch
- 18:33of times and that and a few others.
- 18:36And yeah, it's such a standout. DMC is just one of the best
- 18:39humans ever, man. I got to meet him and talk to
- 18:42him and he's amazing and his music's amazing still.
- 18:44You know, it's funny because I was going into the studio to
- 18:47write actually, no, do a new Black Sabbath cover.
- 18:51And I sent the a riff I had that I found on my phone.
- 18:54And I'm like, dude, what do you think of this riff?
- 18:56And he didn't respond. And that's generally his way of
- 18:58saying, you know, not really. So like half an hour ago, he's
- 19:02like, hey, man, can you send me that riff again?
- 19:03I'm like, OK, so I said it to him again.
- 19:05He's like, fuck yes. He's like, that's that's the
- 19:07song has got to start just like that.
- 19:09That's going to be a hit. That's going to be one of the
- 19:10greatest. I'm like, I I so I called up
- 19:12like, you know, you cracked me up, man.
- 19:14I thought you didn't like it. I was going into the studio.
- 19:16I would have actually recorded it that night, but you never
- 19:19responded. So I thought you didn't like it.
- 19:20He's like, I love it, you know, So it's still so funny.
- 19:24You know, I can listen to it's tricky in my car one day and I'm
- 19:26talking with DMC telling me he just freaks out from my riffs
- 19:29like, you know, half an hour ago, maybe 45 minutes right
- 19:32before we started this interview.
- 19:34It's. Yeah, he's amazing, a big fan of
- 19:36his comic book series. Daryl makes comics and and all
- 19:39his different things. He's got a band with your buddy
- 19:41Dukes. Then he has also you made some
- 19:43music with Rob Dukes, Matt, Rob Dukes back in Exodus.
- 19:45So, uh, maybe Rob will be, you know, in between Exodus things,
- 19:49maybe you can come back for the next one That would be.
- 19:51Cool. We're mixing a song right now
- 19:53with Rob Dukes on vocals called a Kiss cover.
- 19:55Strange Ways. Oh, amazing.
- 19:57Yeah. I love the Almost Human cover.
- 19:58That's kind of funny that you brought that up, The strange
- 20:00ways. Almost Humans like a super
- 20:02underrated song to me. I remember it very well from
- 20:05side 4 of Kiss Alive 2. That's how far back I go kiss.
- 20:09Art. No.
- 20:09Oh no. Was love gun.
- 20:11That's right, love gun that's right that's right love gun.
- 20:14It's that same era. They all kind of bleed together.
- 20:17It's you know, 50 years ago. I don't remember shit from
- 20:19yesterday. I don't know what I had for
- 20:20dinner last night. So anyway, all I know is music.
- 20:24I don't have room for anything else and, and maybe my lady.
- 20:27But yeah, man, it's such a fun project and I do hope you keep
- 20:31this vibe going. And I'm I'm really excited.
- 20:34Beside sharing all this other stuff, obviously you are, you're
- 20:37constantly working on stuff. Anything else going on?
- 20:40Any chance of some Hades reissues on vinyl at some point
- 20:43again? It all came out last year.
- 20:47Everything, everything including an album called Hades Lost Fox
- 20:51Studio Sessions, which is just demo tapes and Katie's live on
- 20:55location just came out. It's it's such a good package.
- 20:59Guys going to kill me. He's from Albuquerque.
- 21:01I can't think of the name of the label that released it, but it
- 21:04was funny because last year I got, you know, the copy of
- 21:07Visioning on vinyl. And then I I got pref non
- 21:11fiction preface non fiction in the no non fiction.
- 21:13It's a wonderful lie, Hades. What came out last?
- 21:16The downside, save yourself live and locate.
- 21:20It's like I was. I can't even believe I've
- 21:22released this many records in my life, you know, But yeah,
- 21:25everything is on vinyl. And in fact, I want to get you a

- 21:54Also friends of ours. So nice work man.
- 21:56Thank you so much. It's very generous of you.
- 21:58I was a huge fan, like I said, going back in the day,
- 22:00nonfiction ripped also. I love those records.
- 22:03It's a wonderful lie. Was on rotation for a while with
- 22:06me and yeah man, I'm glad you're still out there grinding away
- 22:09and doing your thing. I always like to end these with
- 22:13a wild card question, so knowing that you were a Jersey guy and I
- 22:16have a lot of history going from New York City to Jersey take me
- 22:20back in time. Wild card question.
- 22:22What is your favorite show you attended as a fan in New Jersey
- 22:26as you could be local, could have been huge, whatever.
- 22:29It is Plasmatics Coup d'etat, or we mentioned Almost Human by
- 22:35Kiss. That's actually Jean Paul
- 22:36Bouvier playing based on that. I saw him a couple years ago and
- 22:40I said, man, that is the shit coup d'etat.
- 22:43And he's like, man, everybody loves that album.
- 22:45But I went to see them less than 15 miles from my house at a
- 22:50place called Circus Circus and actually wrote about this in a
- 22:54book. I think the book is called The
- 22:55Circus. And I go in and now my dad had
- 22:59died and I guess unbeknownst to me, I was having panic attacks
- 23:02and I this was probably my first time I really knew I had a panic
- 23:06attack. I go to see the plasmatics and
- 23:08the bombs are going off and shit's falling from the roof.
- 23:11The roof wasn't that high, the ceiling, and I remember having a
- 23:15lot of difficulty breathing and I really thought I was going to
- 23:18die. Like literally, I thought I was
- 23:20going to die. I ran outside and maybe it was
- 23:21just a panic attack or maybe there really was crap going into
- 23:24my nose and my lungs, but just. I'm such a big fan of the
- 23:28Plasmatics Coup d'etat album, and even though I've seen some
- 23:32great shows in New Jersey, just the intimacy of that small venue
- 23:36and my love for Coup d'etat, I mean, to me it's a perfect
- 23:39album. That was probably my favorite
- 23:42show I've ever seen in Jersey. Right on.
- 23:43That's amazing. I'm so jealous.
- 23:46That's a great story and I and I hope you've overcome your issues
- 23:51as an anxiety sufferer and panic attack sufferer.
- 23:57I have it. I'm on a high dose because I
- 23:58can't, I have trouble, but I'm on a very high dose.
- 24:01But it's all good man. We'll get through the musical.
- 24:04Help us. That's my higher power.
- 24:06Dan Lorenzo patriarchs and Black new album Homecoming out on
- 24:09Metalville Records. Our favorite, one of our
- 24:11favorite labels. We're not supposed to have
- 24:12favorite labels, but I do. Thanks so much for hanging out
- 24:14with me today, man. I appreciate you.
- 24:16And yeah, best of luck with everything and go Knicks.
- 24:20Thank you man, send me this link when you have it.
- 24:22I will do. We're going to share everything.
- 24:24See you soon.
