- 0:22SPEAKER_03: Well, week five is in the boek five is in the books for the NTAA football season.
- 0:32SPEAKER_03: Week four is in the books for the NFL.
- 0:36SPEAKER_03: Hockey has started, and basketball is in preseason mode already.
- 0:43SPEAKER_03: So quite a bit to unravel here today.
- 0:47SPEAKER_08: Oh boy.
- 0:50SPEAKER_08: Another disappointing loss for the Buffaloes.
- 0:53SPEAKER_03: Another dominant win for Alabama.
- 0:56SPEAKER_03: Very disappointing loss for the Colorado Buffaloes.
- 1:00SPEAKER_03: Avalanche won.
- 1:05SPEAKER_03: Nuggets lost their first preseason game, won their second preseason game.
- 1:09SPEAKER_03: We will get to that all later.
- 1:11SPEAKER_03: But Alabama played Mississippi State last Saturday.
- 1:17SPEAKER_08: Beat him 56 to 23.
- 1:19SPEAKER_03: Another obviously dominating game by Alabama.
- 1:25SPEAKER_03: You know, you were able to nine minutes 41 seconds left on the clock of the first quarter.
- 1:32SPEAKER_03: You were able to get a touchdown, a passing on.
- 1:35SPEAKER_03: And again, here's a team that first couple games, Florida State, Kentucky started out slow.
- 1:44SPEAKER_03: De Boer probably got on them and said, gentlemen, you know, we we can't have this start.
- 1:50SPEAKER_03: We're in the midst of our regular season now in the conference.
- 1:57SPEAKER_03: And, you know, you you play a tough team like, you know, Mississippi State that is, you know, ranked 16th at the time, and Alabama was ranked seventh at the time.
- 2:06SPEAKER_03: You know, one loss for Mississippi State going into the in into week four.
- 2:11SPEAKER_03: You know, it it's it's one of those games that this is one of those teams that Alabama could not have had a slow start against, otherwise, they could have run away with the game.
- 2:20SPEAKER_03: And Alabama just would not have, you know, gotten away with that.
- 2:27SPEAKER_03: With eight minutes and 30 seconds left on the clock, you were able to get an INT for a touchdown.
- 2:33SPEAKER_03: Again, the defense for Alabama stepping up.
- 2:36SPEAKER_03: Again, the defense being able to put the the opposing offense in a bad situation, make an opportunity, make a turnover, get points, either by themselves or giving it back to the offense with good field position for the offense to drive down and and get and get a touchdown.
- 2:54SPEAKER_03: The three minutes 22nd, 20 seconds, 26 seconds left in the first quarter, you know, Mississippi State got their first passing touchdown, and you know, here we go.
- 3:05SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 3:06SPEAKER_03: You're already down 14 not 14-nothing.
- 3:09SPEAKER_03: Now you're only down by a score.
- 3:11SPEAKER_03: You're, you know, you're you're really able to kind of get a little bit of momentum coming back onto your side.
- 3:16SPEAKER_03: You're able to really get that game going and really establish that that that, hey, you know what, you know, this isn't gonna be a you know a punching match.
- 3:24SPEAKER_03: We're gonna go back and forth and and we're gonna keep up with you as long as we can.
- 3:28SPEAKER_03: And like I said in the beginning, you know, this is Mississippi State's one of those teams you can't have a slow start against, especially in the SEC.
- 3:35SPEAKER_03: They will find a way to beat you, they will, you know, they have the talent, they have the players, they have, you know, everything, the predigree, they have everything that, you know, every team, especially, you know, the good teams in the SEC, to be able to keep up with them.
- 3:50SPEAKER_03: Now, you know, and then then in the second quarter, early in the second quarter, you know, Alabama's able to get a rushing touchdown, go up 21 to 7.
- 3:59SPEAKER_03: You know, here you go.
- 4:00SPEAKER_03: And and now again, Alabama, cool, you score, we're gonna score again.
- 4:04SPEAKER_03: We're gonna, you know, up that lead by by two scores again, like we had it before.
- 4:09SPEAKER_03: You know, at 909, you know, you get you know, Mississippi State gets gets it back to a one-score game.
- 4:15SPEAKER_03: And again, that that's the it seemed like in the beginning of this game, that was gonna be be the process of this game by by reading the box score here or the sports cast on the score app.
- 4:28SPEAKER_03: And and and you see it, and you can see where it's back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.
- 4:32SPEAKER_03: And it at some point, you know, one of these teams is is gotta take that, take that lead and and and go after it.
- 4:39SPEAKER_03: You know, with a minute, 50 seconds, 56 seconds left in the you know, second quarter, you know, you're able to to to go up two scores again.
- 4:49SPEAKER_03: Three scores now.
- 4:50SPEAKER_03: Now you're up 21, now you're up 2814, and and now you're now you're you're playing, you know, Mississippi State.
- 4:59SPEAKER_03: You're playing a school that's you know, that's good.
- 5:02SPEAKER_03: They're they're gonna you know it's gonna be a tough slobber knocker game the entire time, you know, and with three seconds left in the in the first half, no Mississippi State gets a field goal.
- 5:12SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 5:13SPEAKER_03: Now you're still down by two scores to get a field goal, but I'll you're able to kind of really get really establish that, you know, that that opportunity and and get points before half and and maybe you know get the ball early in the second half if that's what Mississippi was able to do and get get another scored.
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: But you know, obviously in the third quarter with nine minutes, 40 seconds left on the clock, you know, Alabama goes up 35-17.
- 5:40SPEAKER_03: Now Alabama's starting to pull, pull away, really start to be that dominant team that that you know I think everybody thinks they're gonna be this year in in the in the SEC and and to be that seventh ranked team in the ranked in in the nation.
- 5:57SPEAKER_03: You know, with 707 left, you go up again, 42 to 17.
- 6:01SPEAKER_03: Again, now you're pulling away, now you're up three, four scores, now you're really starting to dabble establish that dominance in the second half, like you have all season.
- 6:10SPEAKER_03: And you know, some of the the games you started out slow, you know, here you go again, now you're really starting to put your foot to the metal.
- 6:16SPEAKER_03: You know, you you get, you know, and that's you know, you're up, you know, and then in the fourth quarter, you get a you know, Mississippi State gets another touchdown, now it's 43, 42, 23, you know, and and and again, you know, Mississippi State's trying to keep it close and keep it there and keep going.
- 6:34SPEAKER_03: And you know, fourth quarter, another touchdown for Alabama 49-23.
- 6:39SPEAKER_03: You know, then you go up another touchdown late in the in the you know, about halfway through the fourth quarter, you know, go up 56 to 56 to 23, and that was you know the last scoring of the game and for both sides.
- 6:53SPEAKER_03: But again, you you can see the dominance, you can see where Alabama just was really, really able to establish what was really going on.
- 7:05SPEAKER_03: And then that night, Colorado, Texas Tech started, and it was it was a very good game in the first half.
- 7:11SPEAKER_03: It was back and forth, especially the first quarter.
- 7:14SPEAKER_03: Colorado took the lead in the first quarter and only allowed three points, and then it just it it it got away from the buffs.
- 7:20SPEAKER_03: There is a story out there that apparently a Texas Tech fan in the bar of the the Buffalo team hotel found papers with the entire first 25 plays or the plays that the buffs were gonna run.
- 7:37SPEAKER_03: And obviously, here's the thing, why why why are we leaving that out at a bar?
- 7:44SPEAKER_03: You know, which coach messed up and did that, or what player messed up and did that, or or what how did this happen?
- 7:53SPEAKER_03: It just it's it's mind-boggling that you sit there and you you understand and you have you have that you have that happen.
- 8:05SPEAKER_03: Why did this happen?
- 8:07SPEAKER_03: You know, how how is this, you know, how is this possible?
- 8:10SPEAKER_03: You you leave your game plan sitting out for anybody to get, and obviously the Texas Tech fan is going to give it to the coaching staff, and and you know, the coaching staff had it, so you know, they know what's going on, they know the plays, they know, you know, the offensive plays, defensive plays.
- 8:24SPEAKER_03: Now they're able to to really get that extra advantage and and and put it to them.
- 8:29SPEAKER_03: And just we'll we'll talk about that more here in a little bit.
- 8:33SPEAKER_03: You know, Juju Lewis was benched, and Wilson was was the starting quarterback, and and he started out really, really good.
- 8:43SPEAKER_03: You know, had some good, you know, the the first drive was was you know back and forth, back and forth, you know, with 10 minutes and 29 seconds on the clock, you know, the buffs were able to get a touchdown for for you know three yards, you know, and again, okay, cool.
- 8:58SPEAKER_03: That's that's great.
- 9:00SPEAKER_03: You know, late in the you know, on 7-Eleven mark in the first quarter, you know, the Texas Tech is able to get a field goal, you know, and there was back and forth, back and forth.
- 9:10SPEAKER_03: Both defenses were were playing great, you know, allowing a couple first downs and then getting a three and out.
- 9:15SPEAKER_03: And and you know, Colorado was, you know, how you know was really making it tough for Texas Tech to drive, especially in the first quarter, and it was a great, great first quarter for the buffs.
- 9:27SPEAKER_03: And then obviously, you know, they go into halftime and the buffs are up, you know, by four points, and then typical buffs, you know, the wheels fall off, and and you've got a lead going into the into the second half, and you you just can't pull away, you can't dominate and and and really show up in the second half, and and things just fall apart.
- 9:48SPEAKER_03: You know, you the you know a little more than midway through the third quarter, you know, Texas Tech is able to get a field goal.
- 9:57SPEAKER_03: And then, you know, now they're up, now they're only down by a point, and you know, C goes three and out, 301 left in the third quarter, you know, you know, Texas Tech scores a touchdown.
- 10:08SPEAKER_03: Now now you're down by now, you're down 12 to 7, and and you're still there, you're still there, you're still really close going into the fourth quarter, and then typical buffs like they've had for for many, many, many years.
- 10:22SPEAKER_03: And even when Dion first came in, or when Coach is here now, it's this the wheels fall off, they just they just stop playing, they they get blown out, and they just can't they can't keep it close, and then they they just make mental mistakes and you know fourth quarter, early on, a field goal, now you're at 15 to 7.
- 10:47SPEAKER_03: You just you know, you're just you have it there again.
- 10:51SPEAKER_03: You're only down by you know 12 points at that point, 11 points, you know.
- 10:55SPEAKER_03: You you can really sit there and do it.
- 10:58SPEAKER_03: And and now you really need to, you know, try to get a drive going, try to get it to 14 to 15, and you know, be down by a point or or you know, go 15-15, you know, whatever it is, you know, and and and maybe tie it and and do good or get a fuel goal and chip into that lead and keep it keep it close.
- 11:16SPEAKER_03: But you know, nope.
- 11:18SPEAKER_03: And then you have you know a big, a big rush for, you know, for Texas Tech, now you're down 29 to 7, you know, now you're you know, you have the INT in the end zone.
- 11:30SPEAKER_03: You throw a pick six in your own end zone.
- 11:33SPEAKER_03: You're already back far enough.
- 11:34SPEAKER_03: You already you got 90 some odd yards to go.
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: You throw a pass into the end zone.
- 11:39SPEAKER_03: Now you now you're already, you know, now you're down 22-7, you know, and then you know, late in the the fourth, fourth quarter, you know, you allow a 30-yard run for a touchdown.
- 11:48SPEAKER_03: Now you're now you're down you know 29 to 7, and just another disappointing a blowout loss in in the in the Big 12.
- 11:59SPEAKER_03: You know, Colorado wins, you know, their first game, you know, by by you know, coming back, way winning that close, beating Georgia Tech.
- 12:06SPEAKER_03: There's a big win.
- 12:07SPEAKER_03: There's some momentum, there's some stuff to to build off of.
- 12:10SPEAKER_03: There's there's a good win.
- 12:12SPEAKER_03: You come back, you blow out, you know, you know, you you blow out Weber State.
- 12:17SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 12:17SPEAKER_03: Small school, small division, great.
- 12:20SPEAKER_03: That's that's awesome.
- 12:21SPEAKER_03: Then you wind up playing, you know, a a Big Ten school, a school there, and you just get blown out.
- 12:28SPEAKER_03: You you you you don't show up, and that that happens.
- 12:33SPEAKER_03: Then you f you play your first Big 12 game of the season, you get blown out.
- 12:38SPEAKER_03: You play their second Big 12 game of the season, you get blown out.
- 12:42SPEAKER_03: Now you're two and two.
- 12:45SPEAKER_08: You were, you know, two and oh, two and one, two and two, now you're now you're two and three.
- 12:53SPEAKER_03: And it's just it's it's one of those things to where are they only gonna get two wins this year?
- 13:02SPEAKER_03: You know, we we all thought the ceiling was gonna be five, maybe four.
- 13:05SPEAKER_03: Maybe they they could be bowl eligible, but you you just can not have this happen.
- 13:15SPEAKER_03: It is it is the epitome of how do we get away from this situation that that CU is is in again.
- 13:25SPEAKER_03: Yet again, here we are.
- 13:27SPEAKER_03: You're your you're behind, you're getting blown out, you're you're you're you know, your first couple games are good, and then you get blown out and you can't compete, and and it just it's it's sad.
- 13:47SPEAKER_03: It it's un it's unreal.
- 13:50SPEAKER_03: And you know, I I heard this and and you know, I listened to to here in Colorado, I listen to to 104 the fan, their their sports radio talk show here in Denver, which is one of the better ones, and and you listen to you know, you listen to the morning guys, and they just you know, uh, what's going on with CU?
- 14:08SPEAKER_03: And we thought they would be good, and and you know, and and and you know, we we thought they would they would do something this year, and you listen to you know, Dover and Cecil, the midday show, and they say this, they say the same thing.
- 14:21SPEAKER_03: And it's like, you know, what what's happening here?
- 14:23SPEAKER_03: What's you know what's what's going on?
- 14:26SPEAKER_03: And then you listen to the afternoon show, and and you know, Zach Bye said it a few weeks ago, and he continues to say it, and I'm don't get me wrong, you know, I I have been a CU Buffalo fan my entire life.
- 14:43SPEAKER_03: I I love the Buffaloes.
- 14:44SPEAKER_03: I will always cheer for them.
- 14:46SPEAKER_03: I I will be with them thick and thin, and even if you know they have another poor season, like obviously they're gonna have, but I'm gonna blast them here and I'm gonna say some things that are that are tough, and I'm sure if I get some fan mail and and folks, please, please do a fan mail and let me know what you think and give me your opinion and give me your feedback on this.
- 15:09SPEAKER_03: But I'm sorry to say right now that I agree with Zach Pai.
- 15:13SPEAKER_03: The Buffaloes do not have a head coach, they do not have a quarterback, they do not have a a an identity, they don't have a culture in this university.
- 15:25SPEAKER_03: They have nothing.
- 15:26SPEAKER_03: They are not a power for school at all.
- 15:30SPEAKER_03: They don't deserve to be a power for in a power for conference.
- 15:34SPEAKER_03: They don't deserve to be in the Big Twelve, they don't deserve to be in the the pack in in the SEC.
- 15:39SPEAKER_03: They don't deserve to be in the Big Ten.
- 15:40SPEAKER_03: They don't deserve to be in the ACC.
- 15:43SPEAKER_08: They need to step away, go to a smaller division, or go independent.
- 15:51SPEAKER_03: Establish a culture, establish an identity, get a quarterback and get a coach in here who's going to help coach this team and get this team there, and not be a showman, not be a showboat, not throw his players under the bus to where one of them he bunches quarterback Lewis.
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: There's another story going around that his dad called Prime and said, My son is not playing another snap for you.
- 16:15SPEAKER_03: He's done.
- 16:16SPEAKER_03: He's gonna probably transfer.
- 16:18SPEAKER_08: It it it's to a point to where we're where we were before Prime got here.
- 16:29SPEAKER_03: You know, we we have not had a culture, we have not had a quarterback, we have not had a good a good coaching staff, we have not had a good head coach since we're gonna do high school in the 90s.
- 16:38SPEAKER_03: When I was in high school in 98, 99, right in there.
- 16:43SPEAKER_03: Why?
- 16:43SPEAKER_03: Why why does see you bring in these big, you know, these big name coaches?
- 16:47SPEAKER_03: Oh, they're gonna be fine, they're gonna be fine, and then, you know, they're they're in the they're still on the bottom of of the SEC.
- 16:55SPEAKER_03: You know, every everything, you know, and and you know, it's it's there.
- 17:03SPEAKER_03: You know, and and here, here I'll play this little thing, you know, on Instagram, and you know, Texas Ec fan reportedly found what appeared to be the Colorado Colorado's roughly 25-page offensive game plan at the Buffalo's team hotel bar the night before the game.
- 17:28SPEAKER_03: How in the world is does this even just anybody, coaching staff, player, whatever, leave this out.
- 17:35SPEAKER_03: The packet allegedly included the opening plays, red zone calls, and notes on Texas tech techniques.
- 17:44SPEAKER_03: The wild part, the leaked script, appeared to be real.
- 17:49SPEAKER_03: Social media comprehend correspondence showed Colorado's first several offensive snaps lined up with the plays in the packet.
- 18:02SPEAKER_03: Colorado got smoked 29-27 by the 12th ranked Texas Tech, turning their whole story from a bizarre hotel mishap into one of the most embarrassing side plots of the weekend.
- 18:15SPEAKER_03: Okay, this is all this was plastered all over ESPN, this was plastered everywhere.
- 18:22SPEAKER_03: Hype has turned into wins, losses pile up, the roster keeps changing, fans are frustrated, and now you have a game plan that is left sitting in a hotel bar.
- 18:33SPEAKER_03: This is far is it fair to ask whether Colorado needs a reset?
- 18:39SPEAKER_08: And I said it earlier.
- 18:41SPEAKER_08: Yes, they do.
- 18:43SPEAKER_03: They need a new coach, they need to get out of the Power Force School conference, go to a smaller one, establish identity, get things, something, anything.
- 18:53SPEAKER_08: I I I don't care what it is.
- 18:59SPEAKER_03: You you it's sad.
- 19:03SPEAKER_03: We we can't even establish the littlest, the biggest thing there is.
- 19:11SPEAKER_03: And it's just it's sad.
- 19:13SPEAKER_03: And let's hope that we can we can figure something out.
- 19:18SPEAKER_03: Take a quick break here, and we will discuss the Broncos game on Sunday, which was good all the way up until the very end of the game.
- 19:28SPEAKER_08: Okay, so Sunday.
- 19:32SPEAKER_08: The the Broncos played at San Francisco 49ers.
- 19:38SPEAKER_08: And oh boy.
- 19:43SPEAKER_03: You're you're two and two, you're in third place in the division, and you you had another another another tough, you know, another tough loss against a team that you know you maybe you should have beaten, but you know, and and it just it's one of those oh, one of those things that just that that's there and and you know, and and it just it's it's just there, and and we'll play a quick couple press conferences here again before we have the the Broncos app on Sean Payton, you know, and and what happened in in the game against the the Forty Niners.
- 20:59SPEAKER_08: That's what I told the team.
- 21:01SPEAKER_06: Obviously not the result we wanted.
- 21:03SPEAKER_06: The football team we knew it was gonna be a tight game, and I thought we I thought we played hard and the margins become very slim and you know the just there's a couple of plays always when there's a game like that can can go either direction, and those guys made them, we didn't.
- 21:26SPEAKER_06: It's a tough loss.
- 21:27SPEAKER_08: And then we go from here.
- 21:28SPEAKER_08: So any questions?
- 21:34SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah, that's another challenge.
- 21:38SPEAKER_06: We'll look at the film before you know diving into it.
- 21:40SPEAKER_06: I think at half we were still at I don't know, thirty some yards.
- 21:45SPEAKER_06: That's something that that obviously has to get better.
- 21:51SPEAKER_04: Like all like situation.
- 21:53SPEAKER_06: Yeah, like I said, that that's too early to I it's a fair question.
- 21:57SPEAKER_06: I appreciate it and man.
- 22:00SPEAKER_06: It's tough one, you know, to to discuss any of that right now.
- 22:03SPEAKER_06: But I I told those guys, like, hey, you know, we played some some tough teams and this is another good football team.
- 22:13SPEAKER_06: You know, there were a lot of things we did well defensively for a good portion of the game.
- 22:18SPEAKER_06: I felt like the time of possession began to affect us.
- 22:23SPEAKER_06: And you know, we have the big turnover, obviously, in in the kicking game, and that flips the field, and all of a sudden, you know, you're back out there, you know, on defense.
- 22:32SPEAKER_06: But Mike, to your original question, you you know, we always each game look at everything, and that's kind of you know how we'll approach this way.
- 22:46SPEAKER_06: Well, I'm not gonna give you any report on the injuries because I don't know, but I would say it probably impacts the defense when your both of your corners uh are down coming into the second half, and then you know, with Pat.
- 23:00SPEAKER_06: So nothing right now.
- 23:02SPEAKER_06: I mean, I just asked the same question coming off the field to both.
- 23:05SPEAKER_06: So I appreciate it.
- 23:07SPEAKER_09: Did you have any issues with green laws on my eyes?
- 23:10SPEAKER_06: No, I listen, when I say this, and I said this to uh Kyle afterwards, you know, I think the world of you know, really I love everything about him.
- 23:23SPEAKER_08: And so he's you know, he plays with that emotion and so all good.
- 23:33SPEAKER_08: Yeah, but I also felt I yeah, I did.
- 23:38SPEAKER_06: But I think the way that game was playing out, I just I felt like the points were important.
- 23:45SPEAKER_06: You know, then we'd later have a chance with a two-point play to so once again it was one of those weeks where you you felt like the points were at a premium, but it it only then opened up like late.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: Right his injury before you ever gotten for Don't have Wingary.
- 24:08SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I we've got a bunch of other receivers, so I don't think I don't think I mean uh he's a good starter, I mean good player for us, but I don't think that changed relative to what we were, you know, probably shortly thereafter we were in a hurry-up mode.
- 24:24SPEAKER_09: What was your thought?
- 24:25SPEAKER_06: What was your manage point on the Well, we went through the mechanics, you know, we don't have any type of good view, at least our angle.
- 24:35SPEAKER_06: Sometimes we do.
- 24:37SPEAKER_06: And yeah, I mean that was that was the opposite of our bench.
- 24:40SPEAKER_06: So then you rely, and anytime there's a turnover, then you know, you're gonna rely on replay, and it really doesn't matter.
- 24:48SPEAKER_10: You give an an explanation, they say that went down and you got an explanation.
- 24:56SPEAKER_06: No, I they just said the review you know saw it as a fumble, so yeah.
- 25:04SPEAKER_06: I mean we'll see the tape, obviously, you know, when you get both of those guys jumping in.
- 25:09SPEAKER_08: I thought overall pretty pretty good, you know.
- 25:14SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 25:18SPEAKER_08: Well it's harder than if they don't.
- 25:21SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 25:21SPEAKER_06: But that's a good quo.
- 25:22SPEAKER_06: I mean, look, you'll go 16 weeks and that might happen once every two years, and yet you you have to be ready, and and then certainly it affects Vance and what you want to call it affects whether you're gonna be able to get into dime.
- 25:36SPEAKER_06: Maybe you you know, you can play nickel still because J Mac's inside, but it it may take you out of some packages.
- 25:47SPEAKER_08: Yeah, fair question.
- 25:48SPEAKER_08: I'm sure frustrated, you know, and I think you know the first half, but then you know, getting into a one-dimensional game and and I think I'm sure frustrated.
- 26:10SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I think a great question.
- 26:13SPEAKER_06: You know, we gotta look at all right, if if he's not playing outside and Waddle, for instance, is then how do we get him?
- 26:19SPEAKER_06: You know, how do we, you know, get him away from the rotation?
- 26:23SPEAKER_06: We've had some opportunities, but there are a handful of things that aren't you know, aren't clicking and we gotta figure it out fast because you know, we're going into week five.
- 26:34SPEAKER_06: And I think you guys have all made some good of observations.
- 26:39SPEAKER_06: I thought RJ really when you watched the the thing I felt coming away from the game is that meant our guys you know, left it out there and the heat and everything, and and yet we gotta look closely at all right what are the things that we can do as teachers to you know help them.
- 27:02SPEAKER_06: Some of it is the defense that, you know, as they stay soft in certain coverages, some of it is yeah, you know, they're on eyes to the ball, get underneath, you know, get get deep in their drops.
- 27:13SPEAKER_06: And so Bo, you know, right away when he feels some of that, he some of it's smart, but there were some big plays, you know, made by him.
- 27:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah, but they kind of were Yeah, there was Yeah, I mean there are gonna be more, you know, behind certain things.
- 27:31SPEAKER_06: You know, they can they can rotate that cloud to waddle, they can rotate it to the boundary.
- 27:38SPEAKER_08: And so they do a good job of staying on top of the deeper throat.
- 28:05SPEAKER_08: I would agree.
- 28:07SPEAKER_08: I I would agree.
- 28:10SPEAKER_08: Huh?
- 28:10SPEAKER_08: I feel that.
- 28:12SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I definitely do.
- 28:16SPEAKER_08: A couple false starts, right?
- 28:18SPEAKER_08: And we that's gotta be cleaned up.
- 28:23SPEAKER_06: It's back to a little bit of this this is offshell, and so look, we can you can point at a lot of things.
- 28:31SPEAKER_06: You you know, if you're gonna see a defense stay high and stay deep, then there there needs to be this efficiency we're talking about right now after a game.
- 28:38SPEAKER_06: Like, you know, in other words, that game was playing out as our defense was playing.
- 28:44SPEAKER_06: Obviously, there was a certain at halftime, and you're watching the way that game's unfolding, I would say you're encouraged with the offensive start that's that they've had and we just didn't have enough, you know, didn't have enough answers to to kind of get past get past that, get get a lead.
- 29:04SPEAKER_08: And that's the thing that we gotta look at.
- 29:10SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 29:12SPEAKER_06: I want to see, you know, I just want to see it there a few again, you know, we're at 30 some yards at half, so you know, how do we how do we get that corrected?
- 29:26SPEAKER_06: He did I thought we rushed him pretty good, you know.
- 29:28SPEAKER_06: He c he came out of the pocket.
- 29:30SPEAKER_06: We we got you know hands in his face, you know, he found some outlets, sometimes threw it away.
- 29:36SPEAKER_06: But I thought, you know, our playing defensively relative to the things he does well and and he made some plays getting out and and just uh throwing it away or finding somebody like late in the progression, but he's playing well.
- 29:54SPEAKER_08: Yeah, but I'm not gonna necessarily agree that meaning go ahead, finish your question.
- 30:04SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 30:18SPEAKER_06: I just I think it gets back to understanding what you're getting, what you're seeing, and then you know, how do you attack it and approach it.
- 30:29SPEAKER_06: You know, I thought there were times like early in that game where all of a sudden there's a gain of six, there's a gain of seven.
- 30:34SPEAKER_08: I so part of that is you know the type of defense they play.
- 30:42SPEAKER_06: And so I I'm anxious to watch the uh the tape, obviously, look at it closely.
- 30:48SPEAKER_06: We got some you know run pressures in the second half, whether it was the nickel or the safety coming, just to move the front a little bit, but yeah.
- 31:00SPEAKER_08: No, listen, he's emotional and you know he's you know, a number of us frustrated, right?
- 31:06SPEAKER_08: But you know, it's we gotta get it we gotta get it fixed.
- 31:13SPEAKER_08: You know.
- 31:17SPEAKER_03: You you can hear the frustration in his voice and understand that, you know, again, he's very dis you know, he's happy with you know the plays that they're that were positive, but he he he is very down and and frustrated with the amount of plays that were were negative for both offense and defense.
- 31:35SPEAKER_03: You know, you know, they were able to get in, you know, to rush Purdy and he was able to escape and and just not you know you know tackle and and and get there.
- 31:44SPEAKER_03: But you you can see where you miss Jonathan Cooper and and and you know him being suspended.
- 31:51SPEAKER_03: You can see where he he doesn't, you know, where he's not able to get up the middle, where where Zach Allen can can get in there for a sack or you know, and and everyone else get in there for for the sack, and and it's just they're they're struggling, they you know, and they need to figure things out.
- 32:12SPEAKER_03: But let's hear from Bonix and what he thought of the game after the loss to the 49ers.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: I think the frustrations just come within the losses.
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: Obviously, we want to have a really explosive offense, and you know, that'll come.
- 32:38SPEAKER_01: But you know, we played really good teams.
- 32:40SPEAKER_01: We played four really good challenges up so far, and you know, we're sitting here at two and two, and so I definitely don't think we hit the panic button, but at the same time we just gotta continue to to grind and find ways to get better.
- 32:52SPEAKER_05: Well, sounds like there's three, four, or five plays within a game that have changed if they made them in any unit.
- 32:59SPEAKER_05: Is that make it easy to digest or more getting audience in a close at the end?
- 33:04SPEAKER_01: Well, I think we got plays to be made.
- 33:05SPEAKER_01: I think, you know, as a team, we we would all look ourselves in the mirror and say that there's plays out there for us to make.
- 33:10SPEAKER_01: And you know, they were a good football team.
- 33:12SPEAKER_01: They made their explosives, and we just gotta find ways to make more.
- 33:15SPEAKER_01: And then our defense played really well throughout the game, and you know, we just m made it be a a four-quarter game for too long.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: We didn't help them out.
- 33:22SPEAKER_01: But you know, overall we'll you know, go back and watch the film, see what needs to be improved on.
- 33:27SPEAKER_01: And I I know our team is gonna, you know, work at it to to fix things, and so that's the the positive.
- 33:33SPEAKER_09: You mentioned last week about going too high at teams the way they want to play you a little bit with that cloud.
- 33:39SPEAKER_09: Is there a point where you just gotta run them out of it so you guys can get vertical, or is it just like, yeah, if they're gonna say that we're gonna have to play more of a horizontal mm-hmm.
- 33:47SPEAKER_01: Well, I think it's it's sort of by by game, it's by down a distance, it's by game situation, it's by what's going on.
- 33:54SPEAKER_01: And I thought there were some times where we were able to find some intermediate, deeper windows out there, but then you know, you throw it to RJ and he gets 15, and that's a positive play.
- 34:04SPEAKER_01: You throw it to RJ in the flat, you throw it to our backs, throw it down and just, you know, let them roll.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: And sometimes that's allows them to be more aggressive and and then you can work, you know, over the top.
- 34:15SPEAKER_01: But I think you know overall when you when you get too eye zone, you just want to run the football.
- 34:19SPEAKER_01: And so we just got to find ways to continue to do that.
- 34:22SPEAKER_00: You court only have one catch today.
- 34:24SPEAKER_00: Was there something that they did in defenses are doing to try to take him out of the game, or is it just been about these games?
- 34:30SPEAKER_01: You know, I I have to go back and watch.
- 34:32SPEAKER_01: You know, I obviously have the same angle the whole game, but interested to see what actually goes on and how they're you know doing a good job of covering him.
- 34:40SPEAKER_01: But you know, I don't know.
- 34:42SPEAKER_01: It'll be, like I said, sort of that's a week-to-week thing.
- 34:45SPEAKER_01: And you know, we I know we targeted him today, it's just you know, gonna connect it a little bit more.
- 34:52SPEAKER_10: He was sort of a rising star.
- 34:55SPEAKER_01: Had you planned on using him more in this game before he after you uh sort of went down a little bit later in the game and you know, headed into the fourth quarter.
- 35:07SPEAKER_01: So we were just gonna continue to, you know, work our s work our plan and you know, the ball is gonna go wherever it needed.
- 35:13SPEAKER_01: But, you know, it's I think it's sometimes a little bit tougher to really target one guy and and say the ball's gonna go to him because you could get so many different coverages on the other end that, you know, every once in a while you call the play, it's you know, they could take it away on that specific play.
- 35:27SPEAKER_01: So it's hard to completely say we're just gonna, you know, look at this guy and and throw it to him.
- 35:33SPEAKER_01: What does he mean?
- 35:35SPEAKER_01: Pat?
- 35:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 35:36SPEAKER_01: He's uh a great football player.
- 35:38SPEAKER_01: He's meant a lot to us.
- 35:39SPEAKER_01: Hopefully it's not too bad.
- 35:40SPEAKER_01: And you know, we'll get him back sooner rather than later.
- 35:43SPEAKER_01: But I know he'll be uh you know aggressive in rehab, and I know he wants to be back out there with us, and you know, we just gotta find a way to fill in his his spots and and continue to you know find a way to get better.
- 35:54SPEAKER_04: You're at the quarter mark now, your confidence in uh Davis Web as he gets started here in this play call.
- 36:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm real confident in him.
- 36:02SPEAKER_01: I think, you know, when you look at the overall landscape, we've played for the top teams in in the league, and not easy for a first-time OC as young as he is to go against some of the quite frankly, the best teams in the league.
- 36:15SPEAKER_01: So he definitely is gonna continue to work to put us in the right spots.
- 36:20SPEAKER_01: And, you know, I definitely this isn't necessarily the first time in my three-year career we've we've had, you know, scored 14 points, but I think it's just overall something that we've got to continue to help him and execute and you know, as players gotta put him in a better spot.
- 36:33SPEAKER_01: You know, we it's hard, you know, like he says all the time, like any play caller, third and long, not many plays on that, you know, part of the sheet, especially when you're in it over and over and over and over and over in the game.
- 36:45SPEAKER_01: You run all those plays, you gotta figure out which ones you wanna come back to.
- 36:48SPEAKER_01: They've already seen them, so now you gotta make adjustments.
- 36:50SPEAKER_01: And so we're just not not making it easy on him by any means right now.
- 36:54SPEAKER_01: So we just gotta help him.
- 36:55SPEAKER_09: I don't enjoy it, Landmark, Fizzler.
- 36:58SPEAKER_09: Well, the sideline reporter of perceived us said during the game that I don't know if it was in a pre-meeting, but you had mentioned that flying, maybe the ankle swells a little bit, and you gotta do some trade-up with it.
- 37:08SPEAKER_09: Has that been any issue at all?
- 37:10SPEAKER_09: I mean, you look out him to sit on a doctor, but has that made you more reluctant to perhaps take off?
- 37:16SPEAKER_09: Is the ankle inhibiting you in any way at all?
- 37:19SPEAKER_09: No more.
- 37:22SPEAKER_07: Fourth and two in this second half was 38 there at all.
- 37:28SPEAKER_07: Fourth and two in the second half.
- 37:34SPEAKER_01: We did we kick a field goal?
- 37:36unknown: Yeah.
- 37:36SPEAKER_01: Did we make it?
- 37:37SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah.
- 37:38SPEAKER_07: It was 10-6.
- 37:41SPEAKER_01: So then when we scored a game, we went for two, made it a three-point game.
- 37:46unknown: Yeah.
- 37:47SPEAKER_08: Pretty good decision, I'd say.
- 37:52SPEAKER_03: And again, you know, Bonex, you you can see where he's frustrated where, you know, again, they ask him about, you know, Davis Webb and the play calling, and you know, it's it's our fault as the players, as a group, not putting him in a good position to to be able to do things.
- 38:10SPEAKER_03: And and he's right, you know, a third and long, there's not a lot of plays on that on that call sheet to to run.
- 38:15SPEAKER_03: You know, third and short, you know, the playbook's open.
- 38:18SPEAKER_03: You you also heard him mention that Pat Bryan went down with a an injury, and hopefully it's not serious.
- 38:24SPEAKER_03: You know, but but the injury bug definitely bit the Broncos in this game.
- 38:28SPEAKER_03: Ryling Moss and Patrian both went down fairly shortly after each other.
- 38:32SPEAKER_03: Pat Tratan went down first, and the way he pulled up, and it was a non-contact injury, which is you know a big thing nowadays in the NFL.
- 38:40SPEAKER_03: These these big big name players, these players going down with with non-contact injuries, it's just over and over.
- 38:47SPEAKER_03: And the way he pulled up, every fan, including myself, thought he blew his Achilles, he's done.
- 38:54SPEAKER_03: They say it's an ankle sprain, we'll see what happens.
- 38:57SPEAKER_03: You know, obviously the the MRI came back negative, and it's it's not the not the Achilles, but we'll see how long he's out.
- 39:04SPEAKER_03: And and you know, Riley Moss goes down with another nagging rib injury that he's had all season.
- 39:10SPEAKER_03: And it's it's one of those tough, tough things.
- 39:13SPEAKER_03: And you know, you're you're you're now playing 0-4 LA Chargers team in LA.
- 39:21SPEAKER_03: You know, they're they're gonna be desperate to to to win, you know, to win, and and they're gonna be desperate to to to do what they need to do to get there and and to be, you know, to be there.
- 39:34SPEAKER_03: And they want to get a first win.
- 39:35SPEAKER_03: And then you can't be this team to allow when this team be your first win.
- 39:40SPEAKER_03: Broncos need to go in LA, establish the run game, establish the pass game.
- 39:45SPEAKER_03: The defense needs to get pressure on on the quarterback and on Herbert and sack him and get him in third and long, you know, second and long, third and long, force turnovers, get an interception, get a get a fumble, you know, and and you know, you you gotta eliminate the Broncos need to eliminate, you know, putting themselves in third and long, second and long.
- 40:07SPEAKER_03: That the the penalties are stacking up again like last year.
- 40:10SPEAKER_03: That needs to that needs to be fixed, that needs to be taken care of.
- 40:14SPEAKER_03: You know, you need to be able to help Pap, you need to be able to help Davis Webb make better calls and and have that play sheet open more instead of having to be figuring out a third and long, a second and long.
- 40:27SPEAKER_03: And, you know, they just everybody needs to click and and everybody needs to be there.
- 40:31SPEAKER_03: You know, Corlin Sutton needs to understand that, you know, not every play he's gonna get a pass interference call.
- 40:36SPEAKER_03: He needs to, you know, sit there and try to make the catch, and and if he doesn't understand, okay, that happened, you know, next time I'll make the catch and not sit there and look for a flag.
- 40:45SPEAKER_03: But week six of college football starts this tonight, and Alabama is playing on Saturday against Georgia.
- 40:55SPEAKER_03: Okay, you're you're playing the number two team in the nation, you're the number six team in the nation, 530.
- 41:00SPEAKER_03: That's gonna be a very good game.
- 41:02SPEAKER_03: Another big tough matchup for for Alabama, and you know, Georgia's always been one of those teams that are defending AC SEC champions, and and Georgia is one of the teams that's you know projected to win the national championship.
- 41:15SPEAKER_03: So this is gonna be a very good game for for Alabama.
- 41:18SPEAKER_03: You know, they're only one and a half point, you know, they're one and a half point underdogs, and and this is a good game.
- 41:23SPEAKER_03: This is a big uh a really big test for Alabama.
- 41:26SPEAKER_03: The University of Colorado is off and they have a bye week.
- 41:31SPEAKER_03: You know, let's see you know how they do, like I mentioned, the the Buffaloes, you know, the Broncos are in week five.
- 41:37SPEAKER_03: You know, they they play an air they play in LA, and they're playing a very struggling team, and they're playing a team that's desperate to get a win, then they have the short week, they play the chart the the San Diego the Seattle Seahawks, the defending Sea World chance on Thursday night.
- 41:51SPEAKER_03: That's gonna be a you know a good game.
- 41:53SPEAKER_03: You know, this first six games, like we talked about, is it's a huge gauntlet for you know for for the NFL.
- 42:01SPEAKER_03: As I had mentioned earlier in the podcast, the the hockey has started.
- 42:06SPEAKER_03: The Avs won their first won their first first two games, and they're two-0, so they have four points, and and you know, they're they're playing really, really well.
- 42:17SPEAKER_03: They're they're on the road, they play the Jets uh tonight at at 5 30, and it'll it'll be a good game.
- 42:23SPEAKER_03: You know, when you play the St.
- 42:24SPEAKER_03: Louis you know blues, you beat them, you know, six to one, you know, and then you played you know LA and you beat them.
- 42:32SPEAKER_03: You know, with this game, the the latest game against the Blues, you you saw some things.
- 42:38SPEAKER_03: You know, they were able to get the the the you know lead early and get some scoring.
- 42:43SPEAKER_03: You know, in the second half, you know, the second period, there was a bunch of scoring.
- 42:46SPEAKER_03: You know, you you look at the goaltender for for the the St.
- 42:49SPEAKER_03: Louis Blues, where Bennington made two big mistakes where you know he tried to play the puck and and didn't realize the Av players were pinching and and and cutting down and and he you know gave up the puck and they were able to get two empty-net goals, basically empty-net goals, and that's just you know, you don't see that, and and you'll probably see Benton, you know Benton and never make that mistake again all season, or he might, but you know, it it's hockey season and the Aves are are playing well and they play the Jets tonight, and you know it'll be a good game.
- 43:25SPEAKER_03: So let's hope they do well.
- 43:26SPEAKER_03: And like I also mentioned that the the preseason for the NBA has started.
- 43:31SPEAKER_03: You know, the Nuggets are one and one, and you know, they they only have a few more games here in in preseason before you know the regular season starts, and it it's gonna it's gonna be it's gonna be here.
- 43:45SPEAKER_03: You know, the you know, they don't play till Sunday the 11th, the Nuggets against the Bulls, and and you know, the regular season is is very close approaching very quickly for for the NBA and and let's see what happens, let's see if the Knicks can repeat or you know who's gonna be the NBA championship this year, and and it's gonna be a tough, exciting season.
- 44:05SPEAKER_03: You know, the other story did come out that the the Rockies will not be sold to the Broncos ownership group.
- 44:13SPEAKER_03: You know, we everybody thought out here that that was something that might happen and a potential big thing that would happen, and and you know, the the Montfords don't want to sell, and and again, people are like, oh, that's great, that's great.
- 44:24SPEAKER_03: No, we're we're we're struggling.
- 44:26SPEAKER_03: We're we have a team that you know can't do that can't do dang squat and and rather have you know the opposing fans, player teams fans in the stadium and not Buffalo, you know, not the Rockies fans, and and you know, the these guys just don't know what they're doing.
- 44:47SPEAKER_03: And it's it's it's disappointing.
- 44:51SPEAKER_03: And let's see how, you know, let's see how how they do next year.
- 44:55SPEAKER_03: And you know, the coaching staff's coming back, you know, they they have the players, they're they're going in the right direction.
- 45:00SPEAKER_03: It's just they need to be able to have money to be able to bring in bigger players and and go and and let's see, you know, what what happens here in the next couple days, and and we'll we'll be ready to go.
- 45:13SPEAKER_03: So as always, thank you for listening to T-Bone Sports Podcast 17, one fan, all game, skill buffs, roll tide, go Broncos, let's go abs, let's go Nuggets.
- 45:28SPEAKER_03: Have a great day.
- 45:30SPEAKER_03: Talk to you later.
- 45:31SPEAKER_03: Bye.
