[SPEAKER_00]: Hello, welcome to MMGB NFL podcast.
• 0:08
[SPEAKER_00]: That's how we're real in a cool sailing hat.
• 0:11
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Connor Orn, New Jersey.
• 0:12
  [SPEAKER_00]: I say we can't.
• 0:13
  [SPEAKER_00]: It's a sailing hat.
• 0:15
  [SPEAKER_00]: We can't.
• 0:16
[SPEAKER_00]: It says sail on it.
• 0:17
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's a bar.
• 0:18
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a Boston sail off, which is a bar that I was in three nights a week when I was in my 20s.
• 0:24
[SPEAKER_01]: And my good friend, Trini, Casey.
• 0:28
[SPEAKER_01]: her husband Shawn, they live in the north end, which is the neighborhood I lived in for seven years in Boston and see Italian part of Boston.
• 0:36
[SPEAKER_01]: And the sale off was again, the bar that I was in like three or four nights a week when I was living there.
• 0:42
[SPEAKER_01]: And he had this hat.
• 0:45
[SPEAKER_01]: And I said, man, where do I get one of those?
• 0:49
[SPEAKER_01]: And he went into his bedroom and had next to one and gave it to me.
• 0:53
  [SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
• 0:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, thanks to Sean Casey.
• 0:55
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 0:55
[SPEAKER_01]: I was actually when I saw the hat.
• 0:56
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, oh, my God.
• 0:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I need to have one of those.
• 0:58
[SPEAKER_01]: And so shout out to the, to Trini and Sean Casey for that.
• 1:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Those are the end of the sale off for a lot of things I don't remember from 15 or 20 years ago.
• 1:08
[SPEAKER_00]: Those are the best kind of hats.
• 1:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Last summer I was at a barbecue at my best friend's house.
• 1:14
[SPEAKER_00]: And his uncle was there, his uncle Rob and his uncle Rob was the shop teacher at our high school.
• 1:19
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 1:19
[SPEAKER_00]: he had a Nike hat, my high school's teacher union made Nike hats when they were like going on strike to wear and in solidarity.
• 1:29
[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, that is the coolest hat that I've ever seen and he just took it off and threw it to me and goes, I've 50 of them in a box in my house.
• 1:36
  [SPEAKER_00]: But there you go.
• 1:37
[SPEAKER_00]: And I wear it all the time.
• 1:38
  [SPEAKER_00]: I love that hat.
• 1:39
  [SPEAKER_00]: Those are the best.
• 1:40
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like a running hat, it's like the Nike running hat to the computer because I got a big head so it's kind of a problem.
• 1:46
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I'm sure there's some people out there that can like relate to me on this like more a lot of hats are like up to here on me.
• 1:53
[SPEAKER_01]: You have that problem at all corner where it's like up to where it doesn't even come close to your years.
• 1:58
[SPEAKER_01]: And so half that'll pulse.
• 2:01
[SPEAKER_01]: I had that'll pull snugly over my ears is always a win.
• 2:05
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, no, it's great.
• 2:08
[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to get into it.
• 2:10
[SPEAKER_00]: And I want to just start by saying this.
• 2:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Big week of stuff that happened.
• 2:14
[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to take on this immediately.
• 2:16
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to talk about chiefs lines at the beginning, but I just want to say this.
• 2:21
[SPEAKER_00]: I shouldn't be, you shouldn't have to shake Patrick home's his hand.
• 2:25
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm doubling down on this.
• 2:27
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't believe that anyone should have to shake anyone's hand.
• 2:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, Brian Branch probably shouldn't have punched Jesus' misuse during the face, but it started because he wouldn't shake Patrick home's his hand post game.
• 2:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Are we supposed to just shake Patrick home's his hand?
• 2:41
  [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know that.
• 2:42
[SPEAKER_00]: I thought, can't we turn that down?
• 2:44
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like all this stuff has gone way too far.
• 2:51
[SPEAKER_01]: For like the guy who like spent one year with your team and you unceremoniously cut you know a three days before free agency
• 3:00
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, you know, like, we've gone from like the legends getting that treatment now, everyone getting that treatment.
• 3:06
[SPEAKER_01]: And so now everybody has to do all of these things for the cameras, just to make sure that no one gets upset at them about the way they left a stadium, or the way that they handled an exit, or whatever it is.
• 3:19
[SPEAKER_01]: I think all of this stuff is like ridiculous garbage.
• 3:23
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is like, why is it amounting to like some stuff like what happened at
• 3:29
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm all for fights.
• 3:30
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I, I'm the person who tweeted fight in all caps with like five explanation points after it happened.
• 3:36
[SPEAKER_00]: So listen, anybody who ever played a competitive sport after a game, what is the last thing?
• 3:44
[SPEAKER_00]: Now you do that, everybody does the ceremonial, you know, good game, good game and everybody gets in a line and the coach is kind of bracket everybody and then they get them on the bus.
• 3:53
[SPEAKER_00]: What's the last thing that you'd want anybody to do after the most violent sport in the world taking place and then you're like, okay, now there's a free for all with limited security and now your helmets are off and yeah, just make sure you're nice to everybody like that's exactly what totally crazy expectation like I remember
• 4:15
[SPEAKER_00]: even in high school like we got hose done a call once and they had to like run the officials out to the cars in the parking lot and like this was 16 17 and 18 year olds yeah I mean we like with my with the fifth graders that I coach like we have to we tell them
• 4:32
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, especially when there's stuff happening in the game, because that happens, you know, like at every level of football that happens, there's crap that happens between plays and stuff.
• 4:41
  [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
• 4:41
[SPEAKER_01]: And so, you know, like, like, every time, like, I, like, look them in the eye, shake their hand.
• 4:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, there's nothing good can come of doing anything but that.
• 4:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Look them in the eye, shake their hand.
• 4:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and you have to remind them because it's an emotional game and, you know, there's inevitably going to be somebody in that line that's something happened with that you're going to have a problem with and you're going to want to say something to and so you have to keep reminding them over and over again, it's just the reality of this sport, you know what I mean, like it's I think, you know, we talked about this last week with Jonathan Ganon, right, like people.
• 5:16
[SPEAKER_01]: like want to make the most emotional violent sport like a gentleman's game and it's just sometimes isn't you know what I mean?
• 5:24
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 5:25
  [SPEAKER_00]: So anyway I just I don't get it.
• 5:28
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean you can't have you can't have it all ways and I think that that's why and I'm sure branch is going to get suspended obviously.
• 5:38
[SPEAKER_00]: This is why none of it tracks to me because you can't have
• 5:43
[SPEAKER_00]: the essence of it on the field without what Jalen Carter did spitting on deck press got and I'm sorry, but you can't have one without the other.
• 5:52
[SPEAKER_00]: You can't have chiefs lying Sunday night football without Brian Branch willing to punch somebody in the face after the game.
• 5:59
[SPEAKER_00]: And Brian Branch is a great guy.
• 6:03
  [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
• 6:04
[SPEAKER_00]: I'd spaghetti with Brian Branch, by the way.
• 6:06
  [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just kidding.
• 6:07
[SPEAKER_01]: You would do it to Mom's spaghetti with an intro.
• 6:08
[SPEAKER_00]: I went to Mom's spaghetti with Brian Branch.
• 6:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, me Brian and Greg Bishop.
• 6:12
[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about the Bible and UFC.
• 6:14
  [SPEAKER_00]: Great guy.
• 6:16
  [SPEAKER_01]: He's one of God.
• 6:16
[SPEAKER_01]: He's actually one of Nick Saben's favorite players.
• 6:19
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
• 6:20
  [SPEAKER_00]: And so I think...
• 6:22
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's what happens on the field that creates this thing and then you're right.
• 6:26
[SPEAKER_00]: You nailed it Like I'm so glad I brought this up because it's then this performative thing that happens afterwards Where we're supposed to Jersey swap and like pose for social media and be like We're all bodies.
• 6:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah hashtag all love bro, and it's like no, man That's not how this works like I'm mad at this guy and then you know I just spent like I just spent three hours running my body and it's not out of somebody.
• 6:48
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we're getting the shit kicked out of me
• 6:50
[SPEAKER_00]: And French was like, yeah, this guy blocked me in the back.
• 6:53
[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't want to talk to anyone after the game.
• 6:54
[SPEAKER_00]: My home's grabbed my arm after I didn't shake his hand.
• 6:57
[SPEAKER_00]: And then jujurism issues, they're just pops up like a jack in the box.
• 7:00
[SPEAKER_00]: And then it's so, yeah, he's going to get back.
• 7:02
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like jujurism is like the ultimate wild card to begin with.
• 7:05
  [SPEAKER_00]: So, I don't know.
• 7:07
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm carving out a very limited space on this very small island, but I am team branch on this one.
• 7:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Not, not that I would excuse violence, but I'm excusing frustration to the point where in this ridiculous expectation that we're just supposed to be totally normal after again.
• 7:23
  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
• 7:24
  [SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
• 7:24
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I also think like, I don't know, a big proponent of like confrontation solves problems.
• 7:31
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like sometimes these things are better.
• 7:33
[SPEAKER_01]: You can't punch than the face guy.
• 7:34
  [SPEAKER_01]: I know.
• 7:35
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we have had that discussion right about how I got and that people have been punched in the face, right?
• 7:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Like there are too many, there are too many people in their 20s walking around right now who've never been punched in the face and who act like people who've never been punched in the face.
• 7:47
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think we had that, it was a here that we had that conversation.
• 7:50
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was, right?
• 7:51
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
• 7:52
[SPEAKER_01]: So like there's that whole thing too.
• 7:54
[SPEAKER_01]: But I, I, all, all, all, all, all, all, all, all, all, all,
• 7:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, sometimes it's not the worst thing in the world for somebody for someone to get punched in a face.
• 8:01
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just part of my belief system and like a lot of times when you have a problem with somebody and it's handled that way in a very confrontational manner manner, you know what happens, you know, or you know, it doesn't happen.
• 8:13
  [SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't linger.
• 8:15
[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't like like the next time the lines and chiefs play, like this is probably going to be less of a problem because that happened, you know?
• 8:23
[SPEAKER_00]: I would think so and we'll get to we'll get to chiefs lines in a second, but I want to start because you know, a lot of times everybody comes out of it saying, well, this is the game, and this is the game, and and we'll get to 49ers at box because it bakers phenomenal.
• 8:37
[SPEAKER_00]: And there's a there's a couple talking points from this one that we're going to hit, but I have not heard anybody start in London with the jets because Albert this thing to me,
• 8:48
[SPEAKER_00]: is is getting a little out of control and I think it's started time to address how out of control it's gotten in with the jets like that fan base is always perpetually ready to jump on an issue because they've been hurt in the past and I understand that but this has now blown past co-tight and is in a new realm of
• 9:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Confusion of what appears to be kind of not competent coaching from the head coach and it was funny.
• 9:19
[SPEAKER_01]: I look like I just I just wonder you know like you see it and I think the world hair and Glenn and great job and Detroit the last couple of years and I thought I I thought he was going to be a really good head coach and I I'm I'm leaving open the possibility that I was wrong
• 9:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I thought he was just what they needed and it just doesn't look that way right now.
• 9:44
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think part of it is that place was so hot sideways and so haywire and you know, I did a lot of reporting last year about all the stuff that went wrong with Sala and, you know, what he's rolling it and how, you know, like people after the different way and what he would come in the building and how just completely sideways that entire place was.
• 10:09
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I just feel like it's it's it's funny that you bring up co-tight right because I was a teenager for that not to date myself again, but I remember I remember I remember the and I was living here in New England I was in high school and I was living here in New England as the Jets were pursuing is if this happened today, I mean, can you imagine like the patriots are on a super bowl run and the New York Jets are stealing their head coach while that's going on amazing.
• 10:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Right, like that's legitimately what happened.
• 10:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Like yeah, like part cells is secretly meeting with the jets like during the Super Bowl by week Incredible.
• 10:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but but but but the point is like what I'm what I'm getting out here is like with co-type Like things had gone so haywire with the jets back then and it was like Bruce Coslet then Pete Carroll for for for a year then co-type for two and And
• 11:05
[SPEAKER_01]: like that the organization is completely lost its way and it just needed like a singular force to come in and put his foot on the ground.
• 11:15
[SPEAKER_01]: But like, like, you know, put his foot in the ground and stop everything that was happening there.
• 11:20
  [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
• 11:21
[SPEAKER_01]: And I, I thought maybe Aaron Glenn could be that now he's a par sells disciple too, you know, so there's that part of it.
• 11:31
[SPEAKER_01]: I, I just wonder if they needed somebody who is more experienced, and they need somebody who can be one voice who can challenge the owner, and I don't know, I, I, I, I, you know what have been perfect for it, you know, it is, is variable, you know, like somebody who, some, and I don't know if they were ever going to get them when they're doing on job came open, you know, and we can talk about how all that happened, you know, over that week and a half, but
• 11:57
[SPEAKER_01]: But I just, I, it feels like a lot of the same stuff that had been going on there is still going on there, and they just sort of changed out people, you know?
• 12:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and can, and can, and can air and go on be the singular force that changes so many things that happen there, because they need, they need more than a football coach, right?
• 12:19
[SPEAKER_00]: The stat that was floating around yesterday, Justin Fields had a one one percentile EPA game so that means Albert and it's the reverse of when your kids born at the hospital and they say he's a 99th percentile head which all of mine did.
• 12:36
[SPEAKER_00]: that only only 1% of the world's babies had a bigger head.
• 12:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Justin Fields had a 1% EPA game, which means that 99% of quarterback games in the NFL.
• 12:47
[SPEAKER_01]: My mom used to tell me, my mom used to tell me my big head was because I had a big brain.
• 12:51
[SPEAKER_01]: I think I bought it until I was like eight or nine years old.
• 12:55
[SPEAKER_00]: So did mine, until I got tested for the, my mom said I was the first kid in the history of our school to be tested for both the gifted and remedial programs and then I just landed right in the middle.
• 13:11
[SPEAKER_00]: So I didn't buy the big head thing anymore, but that was a 1% EPA game and do you remember the game where I think it was during COVID where the Broncos did not have a quarterback, do you remember that game?
• 13:24
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 13:25
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the quarterback for that one.
• 13:27
[SPEAKER_01]: It was a receiver who went to wait, right?
• 13:30
[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't a wait force receiver who had played quarterback before and got converted.
• 13:35
[SPEAKER_01]: His last year in college or something like that, right?
• 13:37
  [SPEAKER_01]: It was Kendall Hinton.
• 13:40
  [SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
• 13:40
  [SPEAKER_00]: Kendall Hinton.
• 13:41
[SPEAKER_00]: So Kendall Hinton had a better game than Justin Fields.
• 13:47
  [SPEAKER_01]: Justin, so good.
• 13:48
[SPEAKER_00]: But here's my, here's my quarrel with with Aaron Glano, okay?
• 13:53
[SPEAKER_00]: And Glenn took a shot across the bow and my guy Brian Costello from the New York Post after the game, Costello asked about a quarterback change.
• 14:00
[SPEAKER_00]: After arguably, the worst quarterback to game, and this isn't just in case it's fault.
• 14:06
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying that, okay.
• 14:08
[SPEAKER_00]: But the worst quarterback to game in the NFL this year, it's hard to argue against that, okay?
• 14:13
  [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just stating that.
• 14:14
  [SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't look good.
• 14:14
  [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's just undeniable.
• 14:16
[SPEAKER_00]: And it could be the offense, it could be the line, it could be a lot, I mean, he's under pressure constantly, there's like going on here, okay.
• 14:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, Brian Costello asked about a quarterback change and Glenn says something like, you know, you know, you know, better than that.
• 14:27
  [SPEAKER_00]: What's wrong with you.
• 14:28
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we're not just going to change quarterback.
• 14:31
[SPEAKER_00]: But in the same breath.
• 14:34
[SPEAKER_00]: just allowed the clock to run out in a tight game because he's afraid of that quarterback, making a mistake and giving the ball back to the Broncos.
• 14:41
[SPEAKER_01]: And so you can't, to me, on how I was proceeded with a fake punt made no sense.
• 14:47
[SPEAKER_00]: Just they fake the punt to keep the drive alive and then made it to the, and you know what?
• 14:53
  [SPEAKER_01]: You've done a bit lined up.
• 14:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Not a bit lined up.
• 14:56
[SPEAKER_01]: That is your job as a head coach.
• 14:57
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, you know, a lot of people
• 15:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, well, this guy's an offensive guru.
• 15:04
[SPEAKER_01]: That guy's a defensive guru and, you know, like, I tweeted out the anti-ree Bill Bellachick comparison last week when the bleep was hit the fan, what Bellachick, you know, like, oh, well, he's the head coach.
• 15:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Why are you seeing how many top 10 offenses he had?
• 15:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, because Tom Brady was his quarterback.
• 15:20
[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I'm, by swine, saying, you know, right.
• 15:23
[SPEAKER_01]: And because he's responsible for the whole team, like the head coach responsible for the whole team.
• 15:29
[SPEAKER_01]: And he's not just one side of the ball.
• 15:32
[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, like, so those big picture things, game strategy rules, those things are on the head coach.
• 15:40
  [SPEAKER_01]: And so, what?
• 15:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Something like a fake punt has to be signed off on the head by the head coach and there has to be reasoning behind it and you run the fake punt then just stand there and what the clock bleed out makes no sense and so I I look at I tried to like oh well maybe like they didn't want to give the ball back to Denver but then it was like okay like now we're content going it just even that like it's not like.
• 16:05
[SPEAKER_01]: They're the just defense is finally playing okay.
• 16:08
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
• 16:09
[SPEAKER_01]: So like I don't think I would have had a problem putting the defense back out there if I were them given the situation, right?
• 16:15
  [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
• 16:16
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just none of another layer to it.
• 16:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even think of that because the defense has been awful the first five weeks of season.
• 16:23
[SPEAKER_01]: They finally started playing better yesterday and I the crazy thing to me Connor is the team's not devoted talent.
• 16:35
[SPEAKER_00]: No, I mean, we've been, you know, been through this, right?
• 16:40
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Garrett Wilson, Quinn and Mike, like, I mean, this is a good, I mean, could be a good football team.
• 16:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you can argue the quarterback's holding him back, and I'm not going to argue against you on that, right?
• 16:49
[SPEAKER_01]: But that doesn't mean that there's nothing to do with the defense, allowing 30 points a game going into this one.
• 16:56
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
• 16:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and she's like no one's playing.
• 17:00
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't feel like there are very many players on that roster.
• 17:04
[SPEAKER_01]: that are playing up to their potential.
• 17:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you, or are they maximizing?
• 17:10
  [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
• 17:12
  [SPEAKER_00]: Do you think?
• 17:14
  [SPEAKER_00]: Now, this is, uh,
• 17:18
[SPEAKER_00]: you know, again, I'm not going here six weeks into the season.
• 17:23
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 17:24
[SPEAKER_00]: But let's say that that this extrapolates itself out now.
• 17:29
[SPEAKER_00]: Again, Aaron Glenn has been pretty good at tying his experiences to those of the lions.
• 17:38
[SPEAKER_00]: And that first Dan Campbell team was was really bad.
• 17:42
[SPEAKER_00]: And there were a lot of people
• 17:46
  [SPEAKER_00]: they were competitive.
• 17:47
[SPEAKER_00]: They were bad, but they were competitive.
• 17:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but they were a lot.
• 17:50
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go back and look at it But I don't think they were getting like I don't think something this was happening.
• 17:55
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so in Dan Campbell's first year They were three thirteen and one.
• 18:00
  [SPEAKER_00]: Okay
• 18:01
[SPEAKER_01]: And they were caught fire at the end, right?
• 18:03
[SPEAKER_01]: So did they finish like three, three and one or something like that?
• 18:05
[SPEAKER_01]: They were like, oh, and nine or oh, it was like win loss, win loss.
• 18:08
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, win at the end.
• 18:10
[SPEAKER_00]: And they had that tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers after the by week.
• 18:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, so they played, they played Baltimore.
• 18:19
[SPEAKER_01]: They lost a Baltimore by two.
• 18:21
[SPEAKER_01]: They lost the Vikings by two.
• 18:23
[SPEAKER_01]: They played the Rams relatively tough.
• 18:26
[SPEAKER_01]: There were blowouts in there.
• 18:27
[SPEAKER_01]: They tied the stealers in Pittsburgh, you know?
• 18:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Like so you look at it and it was like, there were a lot of signs of life, you know?
• 18:36
  [SPEAKER_00]: But what's that team?
• 18:38
[SPEAKER_00]: So, and the reason that I bring this up is so Aaron Glenn was saying when they asked about, you know, moving on from Steve Wilkes.
• 18:46
[SPEAKER_00]: And I can understand the frustration of a coach, like every time you have a bad game, someone's like, well, who's taking the blame for it?
• 18:52
[SPEAKER_00]: And I understand the frustration with the line of questioning,
• 18:55
[SPEAKER_00]: movement through six weeks of the season.
• 18:57
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm guessing that people are starting to get curious because this was supposed to be kind of a hit the ground running higher to me at least the same that way.
• 19:05
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this again, because this team were arguing that this team had talent.
• 19:08
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, do we think that that jets team
• 19:12
[SPEAKER_00]: was better than a team with like a 22-year-old among Ross St.
• 19:17
  [SPEAKER_00]: Brown, a 24-year-old T.J.
• 19:18
  [SPEAKER_00]: Hawkinson.
• 19:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I guess you all was a rookie.
• 19:22
[SPEAKER_00]: I know he was there yet.
• 19:23
  [SPEAKER_00]: Was he there yet?
• 19:25
  [SPEAKER_00]: No, because they finished.
• 19:26
  [SPEAKER_00]: No, he was there.
• 19:27
[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's so was there.
• 19:27
  [SPEAKER_01]: So was there.
• 19:29
  [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, he was there.
• 19:29
  [SPEAKER_01]: So was a rookie.
• 19:30
  [SPEAKER_01]: I guess so was a 21-peck.
• 19:32
[SPEAKER_01]: Because they picked him instead of uh, or after Jamar Chase, because that was the whole member's soul chase was the argument for the Bengals, right?
• 19:39
  [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
• 19:39
  [SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
• 19:40
  [SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
• 19:40
  [SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
• 19:41
[SPEAKER_00]: So, so, is that team better than this jet steam?
• 19:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Is the question you really have to ask yourself?
• 19:50
[SPEAKER_00]: Because that's why I think you have to look weird.
• 19:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Like how argument hinges on this?
• 19:54
[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I think you have to look weird play out.
• 19:55
[SPEAKER_00]: Like to me, like, I mean, I'm not talking about fire them right now.
• 19:58
[SPEAKER_01]: No, but I mean, like, I think like, they can't look like this in January.
• 20:03
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
• 20:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, this would be really tough if they look like this in January.
• 20:07
  [SPEAKER_01]: Because, yeah.
• 20:09
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I don't think I think when we've seen the teams, like how many one and don'ts have there been, like New England's one last year, right?
• 20:17
[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't show a lot of life at the end of the year.
• 20:20
  [SPEAKER_01]: You know, so I think like it's, it's.
• 20:24
[SPEAKER_01]: I, and this is like, this is like excluding the like the true dumpster fires, you know what I mean, like bill bell check in North Carolina or urban Meyer in Jacksonville, you know, like where it's like, yeah, oh my God, do we have to pull a plug now because we're going to poison the rest of the building, right?
• 20:39
  [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
• 20:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I mean, do you think it's far off though?
• 20:43
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, again, I mean, you had Garrett Wilson in the head coach like, yeah, Garrett Wilson going over it being like, what the F dude before the halftime, I mean, are we.
• 20:53
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, are we close, you know, like, it's a starting to give a lot of money because because the other thing is like I will say like, so there's two sizes and I think we talked about this too, right?
• 21:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Like there's two sides to this, which is like one side of it is like he was yes, Dan Campbell showed a lot of patience with him personally, right, with Aaron Glenn and so, you know, like I can understand like that's where the part of part of it for Aaron Glenn will be I'm going to be patient with my staff, right?
• 21:23
[SPEAKER_01]: But Dan Campbell also pulled the plug on the other side of the ball pretty quickly.
• 21:27
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you remember, one of those coordinators was young and doing it for the first time, and that was Glenn, and the other one was experienced, and had done it before, and that was Anthony Lennon.
• 21:37
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 21:38
  [SPEAKER_01]: Right?
• 21:38
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's sort of the same situation with the chats where one of those coordinators is experienced in, in welks, and the other one isn't, and Tanner angstran.
• 21:46
  [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
• 21:47
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're, if you're Aaron Glenn and you're looking at, you're like, well, this is the guy that I hired that was supposed to be ready to go out of the box, you know what I mean?
• 21:56
  [SPEAKER_01]: Like, and I wasn't, it's just like, I don't know.
• 22:01
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I would look at that and I would say, I'm not sure.
• 22:06
  [SPEAKER_01]: I like Steve Brooks.
• 22:08
[SPEAKER_01]: When is he ever succeeded as a coordinator?
• 22:12
  [SPEAKER_01]: Let's see.
• 22:12
[SPEAKER_01]: You could argue he was a better, he was more suited to be a head coach than a coordinator.
• 22:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Very good position coach, good leader.
• 22:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Like he got fire in San Francisco and I would say based on what I know that was a justified hiring.
• 22:23
[SPEAKER_01]: They fired him out after a Super Bowl year and then he doesn't have a lot of, I mean, he had, I think one year as a defense coordinator and was it,
• 22:34
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to think now was he he was a coordinator for one year after McDermott left right in in Carolina and then he got the Arizona job.
• 22:41
[SPEAKER_01]: So there's one year there.
• 22:45
  [SPEAKER_00]: He had to so okay he's been a coordinator 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
• 22:52
[SPEAKER_00]: six years as a play calling defensive coordinator, according to profile reference, essentially two top 10 seasons.
• 23:01
[SPEAKER_00]: 2018 and Arizona when he was the head coach and 2023 in San Francisco when he was defensive coordinator.
• 23:11
[SPEAKER_00]: So we got fired after the year.
• 23:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and the team was top 10 and net yards net passing yards per attempt, the team was, you know, in Carolina, when he was the DC slash HC, they had, they had a pretty much wild one looking at it, honestly not to cut you off.
• 23:28
  [SPEAKER_00]: No.
• 23:30
[SPEAKER_01]: One year as panther's coordinator in 17, one year as the head coach in Arizona 18, one year as the Browns coordinator in 19, one year as the Niners coordinator in 23, is one one top 10 season in points
• 24:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Again, like, if you feel like you have to do something, I think that's where you make the move.
• 24:06
  [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we'll see what happens.
• 24:08
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a defense that was good under Robert Sala.
• 24:11
[SPEAKER_01]: This is not like a young coach that you're investing in, right?
• 24:14
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a guy who's supposed to be ready made into the position.
• 24:18
[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, I think that they have, I mean, they have Chris Harris on the staff and Chris Harris is very well thought of.
• 24:24
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you have to do this, you know, I mean, Chris Harris almost got the Green Bay DC job a couple years ago, Matt LaFlor almost hired him.
• 24:32
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
• 24:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I don't know, man, like I think he's, I think Chris Harris will be ready to go, you know, so is that where you make the move to shake things up because you're not getting the level of play on that side of the ball that you would help you again.
• 24:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Football season is in full swing and underdog is the best place to get in on all the action.
• 24:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Playing on underdog is easy.
• 24:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Just pick whether your favorite players will go higher or lower on stats like rushing yards, receptions, touchdowns, and more.
• 25:02
[SPEAKER_00]: This week on Underdog, I'm a big Joe Flacco guy.
• 25:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Love the fact that he's coming back to rescue this Bengals offense, play the best game of quarterback the Bengals have seen all year.
• 25:12
  [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going higher on 1.5 touchdowns,
• 25:15
[SPEAKER_00]: For my guy, Joe Flacco, and the Bengals this weekend, download the app today, sign up with promo code MMQB to score $100 in bonus funds or entries when you play your first $5.
• 25:30
[SPEAKER_00]: That's promo code MMQB, underdog, make picks win money!
• 25:37
[SPEAKER_00]: It bleeds the leads and we have one other story of this ilk to discuss, I mean Broncos kind of pulled that one out, but that was not their finest hour either 1311 was the score that one in London.
• 25:49
[SPEAKER_00]: The other one here, along the similar line, you keep pulling the similar thread.
• 25:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Chargers 29, Dolphins 27, the Dolphins are one in five and after the game, I have a theory on this, by the way.
• 26:04
[SPEAKER_01]: to a tongue of a little comes out and gets to the Patriots and buffles just fine and so it looks like there's a gap now and New England's back on the other side of that fence.
• 26:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but this is this is a thing if you're Steven Ross
• 26:18
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's that's where I want to start because I think Steven Ross now needs to come to the forefront He needs to talk and he needs to be in that building and he needs to start sorting through the wreckage because What I might take on what happened yesterday, and if you didn't see it to a tongue of a little comes to the podium and basically says when you accountability
• 26:37
[SPEAKER_00]: we have all these players only meetings and guys either aren't showing up or showing up late.
• 26:42
[SPEAKER_00]: And then no one is saying whether these meetings need to be made mandatory or not.
• 26:45
[SPEAKER_00]: So what he's done is effectively called out teammates and coaches for coaches for not making the meetings mandatory and teammates for not showing up to the meetings even though they weren't right.
• 26:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Why would the coaches make, but then you have Mike McDaniel come out and say, well, that's a player is only meeting essentially he was saying, well, what would I have to do with that, right?
• 27:04
  [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
• 27:04
[SPEAKER_01]: And then the guy who's calling the other players out, it's got to see on his chest.
• 27:09
  [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
• 27:09
[SPEAKER_00]: And so the whole thing, I believe that it looked the worst or to a, but we, I have a, you and I both during our career, we had the fun, Renegade journalism years, but we've also existed in a, uh, we've also overlapped in a corporate environment.
• 27:25
[SPEAKER_00]: And there are times when you escalate the matter from this is something you can talk
• 27:32
[SPEAKER_00]: this needs to go to the person in the big scary room at the end of the hallway and we've both been in that big scary room and I think that Tua has now escalated the conflict from, oh this is something you can just talk about with your head coach too, oh no now the helicopter has got to land outside the building and that guy has to come and talk about it because if you're Stephen Ross like this is embarrassing, right?
• 27:51
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean there's nothing short of it, I mean and and I love Mike McDaniel and I thought that he was such a breath of fresh air for in coaching
• 28:01
[SPEAKER_00]: he has not plugged the leak here.
• 28:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, and now it's getting to the point where it's spilling over into like a quarterback, and whether the quarterback's right or wrong, and I'm with you that I think it reflects just as poorly on two as it does, I'm like, McDaniel, but regardless of whether or not that's the case, you're in a bad spot.
• 28:20
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the other part, is like, I mean, it stuck out to me because like, and I know you wrote about this, but like, it stuck out to me
• 28:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, we all knew about the players only meeting that happened after the opener, right?
• 28:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Which is like, whoa, like, what are they doing?
• 28:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Having one of these this early, you know what I mean?
• 28:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, because it's like, what's the next step after that meeting, you know?
• 28:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Generally, it's people are going to lose their jobs.
• 28:46
[SPEAKER_01]: And now we find out that there's been multiple players only meetings.
• 28:49
  [SPEAKER_01]: Like, they're happening regularly.
• 28:51
[SPEAKER_01]: And so is that another red flag, you know?
• 28:53
  [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I, I, it's just, I,
• 29:00
[SPEAKER_01]: And I love Mike, I've known him forever.
• 29:03
  [SPEAKER_01]: I think he's a really good football coach.
• 29:05
[SPEAKER_01]: I think, you know, when things are going good, he's got a way of connecting with guys.
• 29:10
[SPEAKER_01]: He's got a way of getting the most out of guys.
• 29:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Guys will believe in him because he's gonna give them the answers to the test.
• 29:16
  [SPEAKER_01]: However,
• 29:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Like the question with him was always what happens when the bleep hits the fan right and I just in a situation where I think a football coach has to project strength.
• 29:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Are we seeing that from him now?
• 29:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right and I'm not sure we are and so.
• 29:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think this requires I want to stop short of saying because I think like what happened in Vegas a couple years ago where Mark Davis started talking regularly to the players and like kind of going around his coaches.
• 29:56
[SPEAKER_01]: is really it can be really destructive, you know what I mean?
• 29:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Like that type of ownership, I don't think it's great either because you're really kicking the legs out from under.
• 30:04
[SPEAKER_01]: You're giving your players an appeals court which like really kicks the legs from underneath your head coach so you don't want to do that.
• 30:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, and especially like in that situation, Mark Davis, I mean, he made the decision to kneecap Josh McDaniels and to go to Antonio Pierce best based on what three players thought and two of those three players were gone within a year.
• 30:29
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so like I don't know that that's the way you want.
• 30:32
[SPEAKER_01]: You want to manage the situation.
• 30:35
[SPEAKER_01]: But if you're Steve Ross, you have to have an awful way of finding out what's going on in your locker room.
• 30:39
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
• 30:40
[SPEAKER_01]: If finding out where your players are at with him and finding out like, is this salvageable or am I creating an environment now by letting this go over the next two or three months?
• 30:56
[SPEAKER_01]: that is going to be really detrimental to the development of any young talent that I have in the roster because I do think that that's over point that that's one reason where that's one place where I think it's justifiable to to to to to fire a coach in season.
• 31:13
[SPEAKER_00]: So I remember and I granted this only happened with one week left in this season.
• 31:17
[SPEAKER_00]: And I again, I think you can do it without firing
• 31:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Do you remember when Jeffrey Laurie fired Chip Kelly with a week left in the season because you wanted to use that week to conduct exited interviews and then what happened the core of that team want a Super Bowl two years later with the guy that they hired right but they did yeah and that's what I'm saying, but you did it after you fired the code like Jeffrey Laurie didn't go in there and start polling players about chip Kelly, you know, he did it after you know, right.
• 31:48
[SPEAKER_00]: But I think you write though, I think there's an art for way, because McDaniel is a talented play color.
• 31:53
[SPEAKER_00]: And they actually had the run game going against the charges yesterday.
• 31:57
  [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, but it wasn't a disaster.
• 31:59
[SPEAKER_01]: But that charges team in loss.
• 32:02
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that charges team was without Omarion Hampton and Joe Alt and Rashad and Slater and Quentin Johnston and I mean, I think you have the charges a lot of crap.
• 32:11
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's tough to blow a double digit lead against the charges offense that's in that state.
• 32:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, not if they've led McConkey or no, the chargers play the double digit lead, right?
• 32:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and then yeah, then sorry, these are long, these are long weekends for all of us.
• 32:33
  [SPEAKER_00]: No, big, right.
• 32:33
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think the point is, it's an interesting question.
• 32:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Can Steven Ross find a way to figure out what's going on.
• 32:44
[SPEAKER_00]: without interrupting the operation or making it seem like the fork has already been stuck in the whole thing you know what I mean because again, I mean because I think I think my, my Daniel could wind up getting a second shot as a head coach and like making a lot of people mind me look bad if
• 33:03
[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's where I think you have to figure out is it salvageable because I do think that there's, you know, Mike me Daniel's giving you enough to work with there where it's like, like, he's a pretty good coach he was able to kind of pull to a to a to a talk of a low is career out of the wreckage, you know,
• 33:28
[SPEAKER_01]: over the last, you know, three plus years that he's been there.
• 33:31
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just, I don't know whether or not I don't know whether or not you know like at this point it's salvageable based on where the locker room is at and you know like I think the other thing is like you have to look at here is there very much at like an inflection point for the franchise where
• 33:51
[SPEAKER_01]: They've got a pretty hefty rebuild in front of them.
• 33:53
[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to have to decide what to do with some older players, like, you know, jail and bills and Bradley Chub and, you know, Tyree Kill, I think the ship sort of sailed on him now.
• 34:04
[SPEAKER_01]: But if you look at all of that, like this is a natural point to ask the question, are these the guys that we want leading the rebuild?
• 34:14
  [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
• 34:15
  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I don't know, man.
• 34:17
  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that
• 34:21
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that there has to be because and I understand the dolphin dolphin fan side of it right because you if it's such a weird like it's such a weird thing because you have Brian floor is go 10 and 6 and 9 and 8 and then that collapsed and then you had Mike Bigden you'll go 11 and 6 9 and 8 and 11 and 6 and then 8 and 9 and 1 and 5 so we're on the kind of the other end of this bell curve here but.
• 34:46
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this roster is not, it's not good.
• 34:50
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like there has to be bigger questions that are asked.
• 34:53
[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe this is the, all I'm saying about the two of the thing is I think this is probably the thing that shines the bat signal that gets the helicopter landed and now the owner's walking through the front door and saying, okay, now I got, I got to get in here.
• 35:04
[SPEAKER_00]: I got to figure out what's going on.
• 35:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, see what happens, but again, you made the point at the top Albert, where it's like,
• 35:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Buffalo doesn't look like they're going anywhere.
• 35:12
[SPEAKER_00]: New England won a game and we'll get to that in a second with They won the worst officiated football game I've ever seen and it was I I can't wait to get to that because I think I think I saw the worst the worst flag I've ever seen thrown
• 35:26
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, let's do that.
• 35:27
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so let's let's get there while we're we're tying some threads together.
• 35:31
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll knock out the whole dang AFC East.
• 35:34
[SPEAKER_00]: The Patriots beat the Saints 25 to 19 and this was just another pressing pressing issue where the officials took away more than a hundred yards of offense from New England.
• 35:44
  [SPEAKER_00]: They took away a 61-yard touchdown.
• 35:47
[SPEAKER_00]: I I made the comparison yesterday to
• 35:51
[SPEAKER_00]: What Stefan Diggs did that flagged offensive passenger clearance is like what my infant daughter does to me when she wants a bottle like that was how Where you call it was, but there were two OPI's yeah, and the other one was just as bad There's already time by the one where he actually he caught the ball, but had his hand on him right?
• 36:08
[SPEAKER_01]: No, no the other one where he was at the other one where the other one where he was like 70 yards away from the play.
• 36:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah Walk your eye.
• 36:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's ridiculous We have an officiating problem
• 36:19
  [SPEAKER_01]: I think so.
• 36:21
[SPEAKER_01]: We have an officiating problem.
• 36:22
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I, I think this goes back to the league office and, you know, their points of emphasis on 15 different things every year.
• 36:30
[SPEAKER_01]: And the game is becoming too hard to officiate.
• 36:33
[SPEAKER_01]: There are too many cameras that are showing too many things.
• 36:37
[SPEAKER_01]: where every single little thing is, is micromanage and I've always been an advocate of getting it right, but I mean the minutia and the conferences and it screws up the flow of the game and then you have stuff like this that makes no sense in the world.
• 36:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Why, I mean, like, staff digs,
• 36:54
[SPEAKER_01]: barely blocked the guy and it was 60 yards from the play.
• 36:58
[SPEAKER_01]: What are you doing throwing that flag?
• 37:01
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think like a huge part of it, Connor, is these guys are so worried about someone showing something on Twitter or someone showing something on Tuesday, on first take, or whatever it is, like, and showing them up.
• 37:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, like, so like, they just throw flags on everything now and it's just, it's infuriating to watch because it screws up the greatest game in the planet, you know, and then, you know, like the performative stuff from guys like Hocculi where it's like, all right, dude, get over yourself.
• 37:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Like we don't need the 15 minutes on this.
• 37:37
[SPEAKER_00]: You've been on this beat for a couple of weeks now, by the way.
• 37:39
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you son of a celebrity, son of a hockey league and like that whole act is just, it kills me because it's like, we don't need the explanation.
• 37:47
[SPEAKER_01]: No one turned on the game to watch you.
• 37:50
  [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
• 37:51
[SPEAKER_01]: So like, you know, I'm happy for you.
• 37:55
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm happy for you that you did a 20-week program of curls to get yourself ready for the season, get yourself camera.
• 38:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for the camera.
• 38:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but we don't, but we don't need a full-on explanation of what, you know, you know, what a chop block is.
• 38:15
[SPEAKER_01]: I just, you know, and it's, it really does like, it messes with the flow of the game and like, this is where I actually, you know, and college has its own problems with officiating.
• 38:26
[SPEAKER_01]: But with the stuff going straight to the booth and college a lot of this stuff is handled without without without all the all the theatrics on the field, you know, yeah, I just there's got to be I mean, but I'm at the point now where I think they've got to take.
• 38:43
[SPEAKER_01]: I think they've got to take officiating down to the studs and rebuild it because they've got all this technology and instead of changing things, they're just sort of adding things on, you know what I mean?
• 38:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and it's just like you're building this big pile of things, right?
• 38:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we'll do this and we'll do that and that's fine.
• 38:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Like do stuff to improve it.
• 38:59
[SPEAKER_01]: But it just feels like you're adding and adding and adding and adding and it's like now there's more to officiate which I've got sympathy for the officials it's hard to see anything with the game the moves that fast on field level and now you're giving them the 13 new things to look for every year.
• 39:15
  [SPEAKER_01]: That's really hard.
• 39:17
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you want to help with the cameras fine, but it can't be just on top of them trying to do that figure out a way to streamline it and do it better like I just.
• 39:25
[SPEAKER_01]: There's got to be a way to streamline all of this, not to mention, like I think that there's probably a dozen guys on, you know, a 345 park that are sitting there with 12 screens and Twitter open over here concerned about what the general public is thinking about what's happening and worried that it's going to wind up on some TV show on Monday.
• 39:46
[SPEAKER_00]: they should be worried that it's gonna be on the M.M.
• 39:48
[SPEAKER_00]: QB podcast and it is.
• 39:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Now you know you're in hot water.
• 39:52
[SPEAKER_00]: You saw you got away, but we got you.
• 39:55
[SPEAKER_00]: We have our eye on everything here.
• 39:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that I have sympathy for them because it is hard to appreciate.
• 40:01
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have sympathy for the showmen, but I love this hockey leaf that you have.
• 40:07
  [SPEAKER_00]: It's so good.
• 40:08
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's just like too much and it's like, his dad did it and it was kind of fun.
• 40:13
[SPEAKER_01]: like his dad was it was kind of fun like watching his dad because his dad was like sort of over the top with it and whatever and I almost felt like everybody was in on the joke.
• 40:20
  [SPEAKER_01]: This just makes sense.
• 40:21
  [SPEAKER_00]: That's about us.
• 40:24
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a remember son, this is about us.
• 40:27
[SPEAKER_01]: But this is just like, I don't know, like this one is like this feels like a bad imitation of that.
• 40:32
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
• 40:33
  [SPEAKER_01]: It does.
• 40:34
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, it's like anything else right where
• 40:36
[SPEAKER_00]: So the way that, and I'm not defending the structure of modern journalism, which is also flawed and has its own issues, but you know, you and I are in the trenches covering a, you know, a season and the biggest sport in America and, you know, overhead there's a lot of stuff happening and, you know, you can't have your eye on everything there's 32 teams there's thousands of players.
• 41:00
[SPEAKER_00]: And you have an editor or you have someone else in the background being like, hey, actually, do you see what's going on over here?
• 41:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's kind of interesting or hey, you keep, you know, going over here, but why don't you look at something like this over here?
• 41:12
  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's what we need.
• 41:14
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, these officials need a hand on their shoulder and they need a way for someone to almost like,
• 41:22
[SPEAKER_00]: because every game is a story.
• 41:23
[SPEAKER_00]: So help them kind of live at it the game, where, again, holding can be called on every play.
• 41:29
[SPEAKER_00]: Pass interference can be called on every play, but you have to pick the right spots.
• 41:34
[SPEAKER_00]: You have to make the calls in a way that is going to better the flow of the game and allow everybody to, you know, so it's like you need somebody to take you out of the weeds.
• 41:47
[SPEAKER_00]: and to be on head to head contact with you, to just help you in the flow of that and they just don't have that.
• 41:54
[SPEAKER_00]: They don't possess that right now.
• 41:55
[SPEAKER_01]: I just think it's like minimizing, officiating not, you know what I mean?
• 41:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's like, how come we go in the background?
• 42:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Like they did in the 70s and 80s.
• 42:02
  [SPEAKER_00]: That's fine, too.
• 42:03
  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't care.
• 42:04
[SPEAKER_01]: How do we, how do we use technology to streamline it?
• 42:08
[SPEAKER_01]: And like, it feels like technology,
• 42:13
[SPEAKER_01]: is slowing it down and not speeding the game up.
• 42:15
[SPEAKER_01]: When it, it should be speeding it up, right?
• 42:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's the whole idea of technology to make things more efficient is to streamline things, is to get things moving faster.
• 42:24
[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, like this is like we already had, like a,
• 42:29
[SPEAKER_01]: We already had like a high speed internet connection and now this is sent us back to dial up, you know, like where I just I don't need the conferences I don't need the reviews and I don't and it's and I and again like I have sympathy for the officials who I'm sure a huge part of this is.
• 42:49
[SPEAKER_01]: like they're out there trying to make heads and tails of something that's a complete blur in front of them was all of these new emphasis and everything else that the league office puts on their plate because there are people there that that that needed to justify their jobs right so you know like well we need to make these changes to make the game better it's like no you really didn't need to do that
• 43:09
[SPEAKER_01]: And what you wind up happening is an official out there again who's trying to make sense of all of this and he feels like he's got big brother looking over a shoulder the whole time and that's why I think the flies are getting thrown on stop.
• 43:22
  [SPEAKER_00]: I agree.
• 43:23
[SPEAKER_00]: It's got to stop Mike Rabel set after the game.
• 43:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have an answer for you there and so yeah, I mean, I think that's that about the opi on staff on digs is legitimately like maybe the worst call I've ever seen and like you know it was even worse than that was a Denver filly situation last week.
• 43:45
  [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
• 43:46
[SPEAKER_01]: where they did the grounding, remember that?
• 43:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, like where for people who missed it, and I hopefully I'm not screwing this up, but it was like, it was like they didn't call grounding, then they have like a 40-second conference then they drop the flag, right?
• 44:03
[SPEAKER_01]: So then it is grounding and they give the explanation, and then all of a sudden there's no explanation in Denver's back in 36.
• 44:12
  [SPEAKER_01]: which means New York.
• 44:13
  [SPEAKER_00]: Never mind.
• 44:14
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 44:15
[SPEAKER_00]: But you can't, because it's the same thing, right?
• 44:19
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, you know, and it's like,
• 44:24
[SPEAKER_00]: I have I have a hard time writing about a game that I haven't watched from the beginning right and I'm not saying that New York is not watching all these games from the beginning, but they're like New York headquarters they have all the games going on once right and so it's it's kind of hard to To stay dialed into everything at the same time like you have to understand the I mean that that's different that's a good rule issue right that's just understanding
• 44:51
[SPEAKER_01]: the in-stating help but all right sky judge sky judge sky judge again please we'll have a big seal for your odds your sky judge sky judge sky judge sky judge sky judge I know it's crazy just put a guy up there and like let the play clock let the play clock legislative where if you if it's obvious and needs to be overturned you'll figure it out within the context of the play clock
• 45:20
  [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
• 45:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's run through the rest of these games.
• 45:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Give me a quick take away because I feel like we tackled the big ones and got them off the off the bat here.
• 45:29
  [SPEAKER_00]: Chiefs 30 line 17.
• 45:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I mean Kansas City like we expected looks great.
• 45:35
[SPEAKER_00]: Patrick were home said for total touchdowns.
• 45:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, Rashi Rice comes back and I think we're all about to be pretty annoyed at
• 45:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, how good this team is.
• 45:43
[SPEAKER_01]: And, uh, the, I think the chiefs are like, now they have like, three pretty manageable games before they play Buffalo.
• 45:50
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's where it is, right?
• 45:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if you look at it, and I'm going to be justified for calling everybody idiots for doubting them.
• 45:56
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 45:56
[SPEAKER_01]: So they have Raiders, commanders, and then Bill.
• 45:59
  [SPEAKER_01]: So they, uh,
• 46:01
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think it's fair to say it should be five and three going into the old game.
• 46:06
[SPEAKER_00]: I thought Kansas City's defense was what really blew me away in this one and their secondary, which was kind of a supposed weakness, but I think we're having a lot of these younger guys or these guys that were in the background come up and really, I mean, just, I mean,
• 46:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Jared Goff was kind of rendered to be kind of a checked out artist in this game didn't have a lot of deep options didn't have a lot of stuff down the field and this is what Spaggs can do I mean you know just like Andy Reed just like Matt and Aggie transforms over the course of a season the defensive coordinator evolves too and I think we're seeing start of that that was a I mean you know yeah and they didn't want to call it statement when whatever I'm gonna get right here next week yeah
• 46:45
  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, game over.
• 46:46
[SPEAKER_00]: See you in the Super Bowl.
• 46:48
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, whatever.
• 46:50
  [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, everybody.
• 46:54
[SPEAKER_00]: It the lines this is tough right me make they have these games from time to time right like wasn't at the packers game I think that they lost last year and Brian branch got ejected and I think that there's just some sometimes They just hit a wall.
• 47:09
[SPEAKER_00]: They run into a wall and they're physical play style with the way that they kind of run things and they're an all in team all the time
• 47:17
[SPEAKER_00]: sometimes it works against you a little bit just there's downside to everything and i think that was the issue they just kind of ran into a little bit of a they ran into a little bit of a brick wall last night which is i mean i don't know they'll be really going to see if they're born they're foreign to i mean i like that division i think is gonna remain winnable for them
• 47:41
[SPEAKER_01]: I like I didn't see a whole lot that made me doubt where they're at like there wasn't like a point in that game where was like, oh, yeah, there's the deficiency.
• 47:48
[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to be fine.
• 47:50
  [SPEAKER_00]: I agree.
• 47:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, we have, um, we have 49ers and Buccaneers.
• 47:55
  [SPEAKER_00]: I wrote about it.
• 47:56
  [SPEAKER_00]: Um, the.
• 47:58
[SPEAKER_00]: This is maybe MVP game.
• 48:00
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I love the Ted Johnson.
• 48:03
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's like thing.
• 48:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Did you see that after the game?
• 48:05
  [SPEAKER_00]: No, what was that?
• 48:07
[SPEAKER_01]: So Tess Johnson, like he has a long touchdown there, right?
• 48:11
[SPEAKER_01]: The rookie for Morgan has a long touchdown and they started chant and the whole crowd started chanting MVP And so he didn't think I was I didn't know it was for him And he was great after the game because he was he said like he goes he goes yeah, man I thought they was shit.
• 48:27
[SPEAKER_01]: I thought they were chanting for me and then Man sterling shepherd comes over me.
• 48:32
  [SPEAKER_01]: He's like dude you're crazy.
• 48:33
[SPEAKER_01]: They ain't chanting for you
• 48:38
[SPEAKER_00]: uh... that's so great uh... top bulls told you after the game out but that you know he's making more adjustments uh... he is uh... he's got a maturity level with his own uh... play calling that i think is involved in helped him survive one coordinator change to the next coordinator change to the next coordinator change it's crazy when you think about like when i added it up last night just a like how look at like all the different guys he's had to work with you know i mean like it's
• 49:04
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's a lot of turnover and, you know, I think Baker, you know, it's just, you look at, you add up like what they were missing yesterday, right, which was, they're without Mike Evans and Chris God, when they lose a book at in-game, no look at decade or Cody Mlock on the offensive lines, two starting offensive line, then no bucky Irving, right?
• 49:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, it's starting to get to the point where it's like, you look at some of the things they've dealt with earlier in the year when they didn't have Tristan Worf's right, like it's just, they've had a revolving door.
• 49:40
[SPEAKER_01]: And part of that is due to the depth of the roster that Jason Lighten has crew of built there, but I think on top of it too, it's a quarterback who is now able to figure it out even when he's got less around him.
• 49:57
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, right now, the only one, the betting favorite is Josh Allen, but I would argue that Baker and whatever.
• 50:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so Buffalo has kind of paired down there.
• 50:08
[SPEAKER_00]: whatever their premium receiving talent, however you want to say it to let Josh build organically, but I think that's different than what Baker may feel it is dealing with because again yesterday, Noah Buka for what half of the game, Noah Chris Godwin, no Mike Evans, no Bucky Irving, you've written about the offensive line, and while Jason might as provided him with good backups, like all the backups are good, and okay, so let's
• 50:35
[SPEAKER_00]: And if this were Josh Allen being helicoptered into that situation, we would have already mailed him the trophy.
• 50:41
  [SPEAKER_00]: And right?
• 50:43
  [SPEAKER_00]: Or no.
• 50:43
  [SPEAKER_00]: You're right.
• 50:44
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 50:45
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that Baker especially is due, I'm never a fan of over corrections.
• 50:52
[SPEAKER_00]: And because I think that it causes problems, but Baker kind of went from, well, you know, he can, you know, he'll battle for with Kyle Trask for the starting job and maybe we'll see what he can do to, oh, yeah, he's a top 10 quarterback, but there was never the like the switch flipped and then there was never like the, oh, here's your award for all the growth and all like he is, he's like one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL now and I think you like you have to put him
• 51:22
  [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
• 51:23
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, and I think it's, I think it's like just a, it's almost like that Alex Smith thing, you know, like Alex Smith went through a lot of change when he was younger.
• 51:31
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 51:32
[SPEAKER_01]: And then wound up in good situations with Jim Harbaugh and with Andy Reed.
• 51:37
[SPEAKER_01]: And like he would tell you after all that like, oh, yeah, no, like there was a benefit for for having.
• 51:43
[SPEAKER_01]: gotten knocked around as a former number one overall pick and having to learn all of these different systems and then having my career, you know, sort of thrown into a blender and I think Baker's getting the same benefit only Baker, I think's more talented than Alex Smith, you know, and I think that that's the part that people miss with Baker is there's so much talent there.
• 52:02
[SPEAKER_01]: People look at him as the walk the two-time walk on, right?
• 52:07
  [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
• 52:07
  [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know
• 52:14
[SPEAKER_01]: how to explain, just how impressive it is that he, like when he was 18 years old, as a true freshman walk on, he want a starting quarterback job at a power conference school.
• 52:30
[SPEAKER_01]: You don't mean, you don't do that if you don't have talent.
• 52:34
[SPEAKER_01]: And then he bet on himself and transfer local home and beat out all these, walked on again and beat out all these scholarship players
• 52:45
[SPEAKER_01]: and then he turned himself into the number one overall pick.
• 52:48
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 52:49
[SPEAKER_01]: And these things don't happen if you don't have a ability, you know what I mean like and I think so often people have sort of looked at him like he's rooting and he's not like he is a really really talented athlete was got great spatial awareness who understands the game and has a how it's sort of an arm and I think wasn't that that Josh Allen do you ever see that Josh Allen clip.
• 53:17
[SPEAKER_01]: where someone asked who has the strongest arm in the league and Josh Allen's answer was Baker and whoever was interviewing him laughed at Josh and Josh was like, what are you talking about?
• 53:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, what are you laughing about?
• 53:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm sure, like, and I don't know if he has the strongest arm in the league that might be overstating it, but this is a talented player and like who is now coming of age and who has really effed up situations when he was younger and I'm just telling you like,
• 53:45
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, just as far as like what comes into your phone, right?
• 53:49
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of people who've been around Baker over the course of the last five, six, seven years that I know really well that are like, that's what we thought he was going to be you know what I mean like look at what he's becoming and I think it's a great to him.
• 54:18
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, don't get me started on that.
• 54:19
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll do another hour on that.
• 54:21
[SPEAKER_01]: We even could have kept him, kept three first-round picks.
• 54:24
  [SPEAKER_01]: I've been holy crap.
• 54:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Connor, I think you're the right person to write that word if story.
• 54:34
  [SPEAKER_01]: Can you imagine?
• 54:36
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, good God, I'll just leave it with this.
• 54:39
[SPEAKER_00]: And so Baker Mayfield leads the league in EPA when he scrambles.
• 54:45
  [SPEAKER_00]: So think about that.
• 54:46
[SPEAKER_00]: We are in a league with Patrick and Holmes.
• 54:48
[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Allen, now the Marjax and his hurt, but even you would assume that we're a Marjax and he's so good in those moments that even in the games that he did start, he would have an outsized impact on where unfathomable.
• 55:02
  [SPEAKER_00]: How good he's playing.
• 55:04
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right.
• 55:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's move on to Bengals and Packers, uh, interesting couple notes in this one.
• 55:10
[SPEAKER_00]: So the Packers, 127 to 18 Bengals looked better on offense.
• 55:16
  [SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
• 55:16
[SPEAKER_00]: But also, like, and I'm going to get in trouble for saying this, they looked better on offense than they have.
• 55:22
[SPEAKER_00]: In the second half of that game, they looked better on offense than they have at any point this season period.
• 55:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, and, and I'm not saying that Jill Flacco is better than Jill
• 55:33
[SPEAKER_00]: at no point this season did the Bengals look better offensively than the two of the second.
• 55:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Why did this game gets dangerous at the time?
• 55:39
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the trade for Flacco like creates emergency for them.
• 55:42
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 55:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Feels that way at least like okay like now we actually have a fighting chance.
• 55:48
[SPEAKER_01]: I come out of this one with a higher opinion of the Bengals, which is like a weird thing to say after they lose that I get to 100%.
• 55:57
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think the Bengals have a chance.
• 56:00
[SPEAKER_01]: to give Joe Burrow a chance to get in the playoffs.
• 56:03
  [SPEAKER_01]: If that makes sense.
• 56:04
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
• 56:06
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's, again, like I think there's like the, there's the intangible shot in the arm that they get from making the trade in the first place, which it's taking, guys like Jamar Chase and T-Higgins and Chase Brown and Mike Kassicki and Andre Savis and all those guys like around down the line and saying,
• 56:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, okay, like, now this was a hopeless situation.
• 56:29
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's not hopeless anymore.
• 56:31
  [SPEAKER_01]: We have a chance.
• 56:32
[SPEAKER_01]: I think Flacco did a good job of getting rid of the ball quickly.
• 56:35
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we talked about his mobility.
• 56:37
[SPEAKER_01]: He was only sacked once.
• 56:39
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's why you and I talked about last week is like, when you trade for a guy like this, it's not just about how he moves in the pockets, about how he processes.
• 56:47
[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't have the weapons and Cleveland of the as in Cincinnati.
• 56:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Guys are on cover quicker.
• 56:51
[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be able to get out the ball out faster.
• 56:54
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that can mitigate some of their offensive line issue.
• 56:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, Jake Browning was not seeing it fast enough.
• 57:00
[SPEAKER_01]: That was part of the problem.
• 57:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I don't know, I like, like, so right now the Bengals are what they are two and three, I believe, right two and four.
• 57:09
  [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
• 57:09
[SPEAKER_01]: So now we can play the schedule game with them.
• 57:14
[SPEAKER_01]: And you start to look at it.
• 57:15
[SPEAKER_01]: It's, can they win at home on Thursday, and I guess the Steelers, I think they've got a fighting chance.
• 57:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Then they've got the Jets and Bears.
• 57:23
[SPEAKER_01]: So if they can scratch out a win over the Steelers,
• 57:28
[SPEAKER_00]: you can never ever put a win on the schedule like three weeks in advance of your NFL headquarters.
• 57:34
[SPEAKER_00]: I know, but if you're Zack Taylor, don't, don't you look at that jet scheme, you're like, all right, we got that one.
• 57:39
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know what I mean, like that, just that team.
• 57:42
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think that they are, they are at this point.
• 57:46
[SPEAKER_01]: By the old, it's the old Lou Brown thing.
• 57:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Remember from Major League, and that's what they call a winning streak.
• 57:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you have the Steelers this week if we can be the Steelers.
• 58:00
[SPEAKER_01]: We got the jets next week and that's what we call a winning streak
• 58:07
[SPEAKER_01]: I probably but should that but no it's good.
• 58:10
  [SPEAKER_00]: I like that.
• 58:11
[SPEAKER_00]: On the Packers side That movie's the most portable movie of all time like it's got so many great lines in it.
• 58:18
[SPEAKER_00]: It is Packers offensive line was fantastic in this game that Josh Jacobs touchdown I think the one that put them up 17 to seven
• 58:29
[SPEAKER_00]: It was like a 15-yard run where literally every Bengals player was blocked all the way to the end of the zone.
• 58:35
[SPEAKER_00]: And after the game, Josh Jacobs said that was the best blocked run play.
• 58:38
[SPEAKER_00]: He had ever been a part of it.
• 58:39
[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Packers got their kind of a rotation in there and gave Jordan under 133 yards.
• 58:46
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and gave Jordan love time, and Jordan loved me that just killer throw to go into that game.
• 58:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just to go into one night and yeah, yeah, I mean, yeah, and I think and I think like what you're seeing with the Packers now.
• 58:59
[SPEAKER_01]: they had like just the first month of the season must have felt like such a blur for the guys in that building.
• 59:04
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
• 59:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Like you've got the sugar high of the two wins in five days to start the season.
• 59:10
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like all right, like now we're for real and then you have the crash in week three.
• 59:16
[SPEAKER_01]: And then you have the very weird tie and parses return, parses return to Dallas and we for
• 59:23
[SPEAKER_01]: And then you have the natural reset, and I think maybe this becomes, for them at least internally, the representation of who they are, right?
• 59:31
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, okay, like, we can go out and we can put together a good performance against a good team.
• 59:37
[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, this wasn't about one player or another having an off the charts performance.
• 59:43
[SPEAKER_01]: I know like you look at like I'm just like looking at the numbers here seven different receivers six of them six of them were targeted multiple times and Jordan loved only through the ball 26 times they run the ball really effectively they're able to stop the run on defense.
• 59:58
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, flag on move the ball.
• 1:00:02
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think this is like probably a good representation of what the packers actually are after a really wild first month of season.
• 1:00:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, still confident in Green Bay, a nice win for them.
• 1:00:12
[SPEAKER_00]: That was a potential by saw situation.
• 1:00:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Titans raiders, you know, raiders win 20 to 10.
• 1:00:21
[SPEAKER_00]: The only thing in my mind is like, are the Titans the worst team in the NFL and the Cardinals just had a historic collapse a week ago, or are the jets?
• 1:00:28
[SPEAKER_00]: It just doesn't, it doesn't look good.
• 1:00:32
[SPEAKER_00]: It still doesn't look good.
• 1:00:34
  [SPEAKER_00]: This wasn't necessarily a huge get-right game.
• 1:00:39
[SPEAKER_00]: For the Raiders, I mean, Ash and Jenny looks great, but it's, you know, it's 75 carries 23 carry 75 yards touchdown.
• 1:00:47
  [SPEAKER_00]: Gino Smith, 1723 for 174.
• 1:00:50
  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think this quiet.
• 1:00:51
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, necessarily any of the problems that they've had.
• 1:00:54
[SPEAKER_01]: No, I mean, I think it's just like, I think, you know,
• 1:00:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Look, they're just from a roster standpoint, not there.
• 1:01:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Now what I mean, like, sometimes you just have to call it what it is.
• 1:01:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, the offensive line, and this is to me, you see, so many representations around around the NFL, like I've heard people say, like the left tackle is not as important as, you know, as, um, the little left tackle is not as important anymore, is it used to be, I just don't buy that at all.
• 1:01:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I, there are too many examples of teams,
• 1:01:26
[SPEAKER_01]: having the left tackle in place and being just okay everywhere else and being finally offensive line versus being like like good in other spots in line and just not having it left tackle and being a dumpster fire.
• 1:01:39
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think the giants are probably the best encapsulation of that.
• 1:01:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Once Andrew Thomas got back in line up for the giants.
• 1:01:45
  [SPEAKER_01]: You know what?
• 1:01:45
[SPEAKER_01]: They look pretty confident in upfront.
• 1:01:47
  [SPEAKER_01]: Don't they?
• 1:01:48
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they do.
• 1:01:49
[SPEAKER_01]: So like this is a this is a Raiders offensive line.
• 1:01:51
[SPEAKER_01]: This without Colton Miller right now.
• 1:01:53
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's an absolute killer for them because they're very young everywhere else in that front.
• 1:01:58
[SPEAKER_01]: The defense, I think, is is still way further than they've got a lot of work to do and building that roster up.
• 1:02:05
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think this is a peak Carol problem.
• 1:02:06
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think this is a John spy take problem.
• 1:02:08
  [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think this is.
• 1:02:10
  [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think this is a program problem.
• 1:02:11
  [SPEAKER_01]: I don't even think it's really a genosmith problem.
• 1:02:13
[SPEAKER_01]: I just think it's where they are.
• 1:02:15
[SPEAKER_01]: I think this is always going to be a bit the sort of build that was going to take time.
• 1:02:20
[SPEAKER_01]: And I said it's beginning of the year.
• 1:02:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think they're one of those teams like where we talked about it with the lions in 2021, right?
• 1:02:27
[SPEAKER_01]: They're one of those teams where it's like the roster was such where really the goal for this year is to be that team that's a pain in the ass to play at the end of the year.
• 1:02:35
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that they can still get there.
• 1:02:37
[SPEAKER_00]: You boys Sean Peyton had the the simple equation that helped him draft botenics what was it like the negative place thing yeah if you combine genosmiths sacks interceptions and fumbles this season uh it's it's it's a lot it's the most in the NFL
• 1:02:55
[SPEAKER_00]: I wonder if shop pains like see I told you that's why they're two would for but yeah, I mean at this point I don't think the Raiders are the eight and nine team.
• 1:03:02
[SPEAKER_00]: I had hope they would be Maybe they're the six and eleven seven and ten team that I want them to be but yeah, we'll see
• 1:03:11
[SPEAKER_00]: the Rams beat the Raven 17 to three.
• 1:03:13
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a little bit of a bummer for me because I thought that this was gonna be one of those ass-backward games were Baltimore fell into a win.
• 1:03:21
[SPEAKER_00]: They started the game with six straight runs for Derek Henry.
• 1:03:24
[SPEAKER_00]: They were going right at the heart of the Rams defense and then they got the turnover right after that where they stripped math, you staffered, and I was like, okay, here we go.
• 1:03:32
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's just not functional without Lamar Jackson and Lamar Jackson is such a unique player that I think one of their coaches explained to me once.
• 1:03:40
[SPEAKER_00]: he sees the football field like no other quarterback in the NFL period and so he can uncover completions he can uncover opportunity where there just is not and nobody else sees it and when you're used to that when you used to calling that when you used to blocking that when you used to running in that offense i i think that you're it gets taken for granted um i think of additional yards that he picks up you know this new one leaving was interesting too because i
• 1:04:09
[SPEAKER_01]: The offense is built so specifically to a little more and to maximize Lamar and to get the most out of Lamar that you can't really do that with one quarterback because there's nobody like him in order to like so it's like all right like like most new pun ways in there let's see what this is and you can kind of see the running part of it but the but but your held back in a passing game and Cooper Rush obviously is the opposite of that so I just think it's like
• 1:04:35
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a result of how specific to Lamar Jackson that offense has become, which is the right way to build it because you're trying to maximize your best player.
• 1:04:49
[SPEAKER_01]: And Lamar Jackson is without question and best player.
• 1:04:52
  [SPEAKER_01]: I'll do respect.
• 1:04:53
[SPEAKER_01]: other great players in that roster like Derek Henry and Kyle Hamilton and Rokon Smith and on and on.
• 1:05:00
[SPEAKER_01]: But the downside of that is when you do build it really specifically to one player, when you take that player out, the whole thing kind of falls down.
• 1:05:11
[SPEAKER_00]: It does, but I was confused.
• 1:05:12
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Cooper, I think that exists in Cincinnati too, like to some degree, like, where.
• 1:05:16
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 1:05:16
[SPEAKER_01]: So the offense in Cincinnati has become very complex, which I think is why Flacco was such a good fit for, like, for as a trade target was because they do a lot of stuff that's really,
• 1:05:33
[SPEAKER_01]: that that puts a lot on the quarterback, you know, because Joe can handle it and so they need somebody else like that to be able to step in if when he goes out and hot and in that case Brown and couldn't be that and in this case it's very hard to find somebody who can replicate what Lamar can do.
• 1:05:51
  [SPEAKER_00]: I do wonder if
• 1:05:54
[SPEAKER_00]: I do what they did now.
• 1:05:56
  [SPEAKER_00]: The Ravens?
• 1:05:57
  [SPEAKER_00]: No.
• 1:05:57
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 1:05:58
  [SPEAKER_00]: No.
• 1:05:59
  [SPEAKER_00]: No.
• 1:06:00
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yes, one in five is not great, but I mean, we could do it.
• 1:06:04
[SPEAKER_00]: We could play a schedule game and I can get you to I could still get you to nine or ten wins and in the AFC North that might be enough.
• 1:06:11
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the Steelers are not running away with this one folks.
• 1:06:13
  [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
• 1:06:14
[SPEAKER_00]: I've seen this movie before.
• 1:06:16
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I've seen how old people are in December like, you know, my body hurts and I'm sure most of their bodies hurt and it's a October.
• 1:06:25
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm struggling right now, but.
• 1:06:28
  [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
• 1:06:29
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like, and I'm just like writing a Peloton four days a week, you know, and I'm having a tough time.
• 1:06:35
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I mean, I don't think that this scene is running away with it.
• 1:06:39
[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is going to be an absolute log jam.
• 1:06:41
[SPEAKER_00]: And just like with Burro, you just want to give you a more crack at this.
• 1:06:45
[SPEAKER_00]: You want to get him in a spot where there's one game left to push you into the tournament.
• 1:06:49
[SPEAKER_00]: And I still think that they're there.
• 1:06:50
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think what they need to do.
• 1:06:52
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that whole premise with that we've applied to Burro and Cincinnati was like, every chance you have to enter the tournament with that guy quarterback is gold.
• 1:07:01
  [SPEAKER_01]: Same premise.
• 1:07:01
  [SPEAKER_01]: Gotta take it.
• 1:07:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and, but I do wonder this and this is kind of my last on this is what happened with Cooper Rush and Cooper Rush played well from Mike McCarthy Um, he was a Mike McCarthy guy, but does that illuminate just a little bit, because again, the backup quarterback thing is so weird like some teams treat it like sacrosanct and it's like I have to have the best backup quarterback in the NFL
• 1:07:32
[SPEAKER_00]: He was an odd stylistic fit for this offense.
• 1:07:35
[SPEAKER_00]: Can we agree with that?
• 1:07:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I would agree with that.
• 1:07:38
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's like, it's sort of, it was interesting when they signed him because it was sort of counter to what they've generally done, but generally had.
• 1:07:48
[SPEAKER_01]: They've generally had, like the guys who were like, I guess you'd categorize them as the quote unquote option quarterbacks that have been behind Lamar there, you know?
• 1:07:57
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think the idea of that,
• 1:08:00
  [SPEAKER_01]: is obvious.
• 1:08:01
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like you are going to upset the balance of your offense a lot less.
• 1:08:07
[SPEAKER_01]: If you have somebody who has a skill set, it's not going to be the same as you're starting quarterback, but one that will require less adjustment than when that guy gets in.
• 1:08:15
[SPEAKER_01]: And I do think like when you go to somebody like Cooper Rush after having Lamar and there, that requires a lot of adjustment.
• 1:08:22
[SPEAKER_01]: And that requires leaning on parts of your game, you know, in past protection, in, you know,
• 1:08:30
[SPEAKER_01]: the the the run game looks a lot different you know what I mean like when you don't have that extra gap that will mark provides like will Mars mirror presence right out there for Derek Henry will mark basically creates an extra gap
• 1:08:44
[SPEAKER_01]: And change is the math.
• 1:08:46
[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's going to change things in the passing game.
• 1:08:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's going to change how they're able to cover you.
• 1:08:51
[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to change what Derek Henry is looking at.
• 1:08:55
[SPEAKER_01]: So when you go back to a traditional quarterback after having that,
• 1:09:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's going to change the dynamic for your offense.
• 1:09:04
[SPEAKER_01]: And so it's hard to replicate what you had there, um, you know, I think it's, it does give credency idea that maybe Snoop Huntley was the right answer and playing side all along.
• 1:09:17
  [SPEAKER_01]: Might have been.
• 1:09:18
  [SPEAKER_01]: Um, it's a little too late.
• 1:09:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, and you're trying to middle it now and it didn't really work.
• 1:09:24
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go over to Seattle where the Seahawks beat the, well, I guess Jacksonville, where the Seahawks beat the Jaguars 20 to 12.
• 1:09:30
[SPEAKER_00]: I saw through this one all along, I didn't buy into the Jaguars.
• 1:09:34
[SPEAKER_00]: I've just yet, it's a good team, it's not a great team, at least not right now.
• 1:09:39
[SPEAKER_00]: A couple, one fascinating stat that I need to throw at you, do you know Albert, what Trevor Lawrence's career record is, so he's played 22 games for the Jacksonville Jaguars in which
• 1:09:54
[SPEAKER_00]: How many of those games does he want?
• 1:09:56
  [SPEAKER_00]: Zero.
• 1:09:57
  [SPEAKER_00]: Zero.
• 1:09:58
  [SPEAKER_00]: It's only 22 without a takeaway.
• 1:09:59
[SPEAKER_00]: And listen, this is no...
• 1:10:02
  [SPEAKER_00]: That's a weird stat.
• 1:10:04
[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of a cool stat though.
• 1:10:05
[SPEAKER_00]: The title is the one was what was it was last week and this had nothing to do with the Jaguars.
• 1:10:10
[SPEAKER_00]: It was, um, oh God, it was who who played the bills last week.
• 1:10:15
[SPEAKER_00]: Who played the bills last week?
• 1:10:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, uh, uh, it was a Patriot.
• 1:10:18
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wait, it was the bills.
• 1:10:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe who played the bills.
• 1:10:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Saints was that they played the Saints.
• 1:10:22
[SPEAKER_01]: So we left for that event, right?
• 1:10:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Because there was, there was a, there was a quarter back around the Saints.
• 1:10:28
[SPEAKER_01]: And like, love their Saints remain in the game.
• 1:10:31
[SPEAKER_00]: there was a quarterback, I forget who it was, but was Michael Panics, who did the Falcons play last week?
• 1:10:40
[SPEAKER_00]: I forget who it was.
• 1:10:41
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not really tested, hold on.
• 1:10:43
  [SPEAKER_00]: Was like Michael Panics.
• 1:10:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, my cheat sheet here.
• 1:10:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Michael Panics is the Falcons out by last week, Connor.
• 1:10:51
  [SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
• 1:10:52
[SPEAKER_00]: There was a game where it was like, Michael Panics is owned for against teams who have scored more than seven points.
• 1:11:00
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like the best that ever.
• 1:11:02
[SPEAKER_00]: I love these like commanders.
• 1:11:04
  [SPEAKER_00]: They beat the commanders.
• 1:11:05
  [UNKNOWN]: 34.
• 1:11:05
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that maybe that's who was.
• 1:11:07
[SPEAKER_00]: They were owned for against teams.
• 1:11:08
[SPEAKER_00]: He was owned for against teams who'd scored more than seven points.
• 1:11:11
  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's Tom Kern.
• 1:11:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Used to have it on his Twitter bio.
• 1:11:14
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like you could, you know, like,
• 1:11:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Dryhumping the stats are kind of like reading the sheet.
• 1:11:19
  [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
• 1:11:20
[SPEAKER_00]: That was a music, you know, that was the key to leave quote, right.
• 1:11:23
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
• 1:11:23
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 1:11:23
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 1:11:24
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 1:11:24
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 1:11:24
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 1:11:25
[SPEAKER_00]: So some of these stats are silly, but they are.
• 1:11:26
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 1:11:27
[SPEAKER_01]: It's the quote for people.
• 1:11:30
[SPEAKER_01]: It is dryhumping stats is.
• 1:11:34
[SPEAKER_01]: People who dry a dry home stats probably prefer sheet music to listening to the song or something like that, right?
• 1:11:40
  [SPEAKER_01]: Wasn't that it?
• 1:11:40
  [SPEAKER_01]: I think so.
• 1:11:44
[SPEAKER_01]: I need to close this up now from the great philosophy to leave.
• 1:11:50
[SPEAKER_01]: I will, I'm using that quote you're currently using it as Twitter by I was perfect if you know Tom, I will, I will fill a bus to while you're looking this up and just say this.
• 1:12:01
  [SPEAKER_00]: Seattle.
• 1:12:02
[SPEAKER_01]: People that try Hamstas to make a point probably prefer reading sheet music to hearing the song.
• 1:12:07
  [SPEAKER_00]: It's a great line.
• 1:12:08
  [SPEAKER_00]: It really is.
• 1:12:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Seattle is second in the NFL right now in point differential and I want to point out
• 1:12:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Seattle has played the 49ers who have a winning record, the Pittsburgh Steelers who have a winning record, the Saints who, okay, Saints, the Saints, the Arizona Cardinals, okay, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
• 1:12:33
[SPEAKER_00]: Their schedule so far has not been easy.
• 1:12:36
[SPEAKER_00]: They've had an excellent schedule.
• 1:12:38
[SPEAKER_00]: They've played teams at their hottest, and they're second in the NFL, in point differential, which means two things.
• 1:12:46
[SPEAKER_00]: They have blowout potential on offense, and the defense is doing its job.
• 1:12:51
[SPEAKER_00]: The only two games they lost, they lost by a combined six points of field goal in each game.
• 1:12:56
[SPEAKER_00]: I am firmly in the,
• 1:13:00
[SPEAKER_00]: They are in super bowl contention to me and I don't I I can't see otherwise.
• 1:13:04
  [SPEAKER_00]: They demonized Jacksonville yesterday.
• 1:13:07
[SPEAKER_00]: They were all over Trevor Lawrence.
• 1:13:08
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was How many sacks was it?
• 1:13:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Let me get it up in front of me.
• 1:13:13
[SPEAKER_00]: It was an astronomical astronomical number.
• 1:13:15
[SPEAKER_00]: It was 7 sacks for lost 44 yards, but then 17 Quarterback hits.
• 1:13:21
  [SPEAKER_01]: That's crazy
• 1:13:23
  [SPEAKER_01]: and that's crazy.
• 1:13:24
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a little bit of beef with, so ESPN tracks the quarterback hits.
• 1:13:28
  [SPEAKER_01]: Wow, I've boxed.
• 1:13:29
  [SPEAKER_01]: Markers Lawrence had five.
• 1:13:31
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 1:13:32
[SPEAKER_01]: Two sacks, five quarterback hits, Byron Murphy had four quarterback hits.
• 1:13:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Uchana Mosu had four quarterback hits.
• 1:13:40
  [SPEAKER_00]: That's,
• 1:13:41
  [SPEAKER_00]: it's pretty good.
• 1:13:42
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think ESPN, and I'm not begrudging.
• 1:13:44
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this is a hard thing to do on whatever, but they, they miss quarterback hits sometimes.
• 1:13:50
[SPEAKER_00]: Like Baker may feel got absolutely, they only said he got hit once yesterday.
• 1:13:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Go back and watch that game and tell me that Baker may feel only got hit once yesterday.
• 1:13:57
[SPEAKER_00]: That's not the case at all.
• 1:13:58
[SPEAKER_00]: He was, he was roughed around a little bit.
• 1:14:01
  [SPEAKER_00]: So,
• 1:14:03
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I don't think that anything is different after this game.
• 1:14:07
[SPEAKER_00]: I still think Jackson built on an upward trajectory, but it doesn't show you a little bit Albert.
• 1:14:11
[SPEAKER_00]: So how much this team was depending on those extra possessions that they got from Campanelli's defense, right?
• 1:14:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I also, I say this about Seattle.
• 1:14:19
  [SPEAKER_01]: I think Seattle's real.
• 1:14:22
  [SPEAKER_01]: I think Seattle.
• 1:14:23
  [SPEAKER_01]: This is Seattle.
• 1:14:25
[SPEAKER_01]: I felt this way before the year.
• 1:14:27
  [SPEAKER_01]: Seattle through like the
• 1:14:32
[SPEAKER_01]: had like a really good young core and they were like green bay this way where they could a lot of where they go is dependent on how many very good players can all have it to be coming great.
• 1:14:43
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think we're seeing a lot of guys become great players now, right?
• 1:14:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Like Charles Cross at left tackle is already there.
• 1:14:49
[SPEAKER_01]: It's Sam Darnall becoming a great player now.
• 1:14:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe not, but I think he's elevated, he's elevating again, and showing what happened last year wasn't a fluke.
• 1:14:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Jackson Smith and Jacob might be what?
• 1:14:59
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's on pace to break the single season we're saving your record.
• 1:15:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like with six games in the book, books, right.
• 1:15:07
[SPEAKER_01]: So Jackson's been in Jigbo with DK MacKafcon.
• 1:15:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Looks like a top five or 10 receiver in the week.
• 1:15:12
[SPEAKER_01]: AJ Barners, a legitimate tight end.
• 1:15:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Kenneth Walker and Zach Sharp and a both look better at running back, right?
• 1:15:18
  [SPEAKER_01]: Like, wasn't their best A yesterday.
• 1:15:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Byron Murphy is a force as a young player on defense, right?
• 1:15:24
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, whether Spoon didn't play,
• 1:15:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Yesterday, but with her spoon, I think is like one of these guys like where you look at him and like that's a found day that could be a foundation piece of a championship defense You just start to look at it and it's like all these young players are ascending and getting better and I look at it like this team's really good now Like you look at the number of what 24 25 26 year olds on that team
• 1:15:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Are they going to be better in December and January than they are now?
• 1:15:56
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a stance to reason that injury permitting they will be.
• 1:16:00
  [SPEAKER_01]: I'm buying stock in the C-Hawks.
• 1:16:02
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the C-Hawks could win that division.
• 1:16:04
  [SPEAKER_00]: Hell yeah.
• 1:16:06
  [SPEAKER_00]: I totally agree.
• 1:16:07
[SPEAKER_00]: I've been saying that they're a secretable team for the last three weeks now.
• 1:16:10
  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't I don't deny it.
• 1:16:12
[SPEAKER_00]: I think Mike Donald's one of the best coaches period, not just best young coaches because I was going to qualify.
• 1:16:17
[SPEAKER_00]: It's one of the best coaches in the NFL right now.
• 1:16:19
[SPEAKER_00]: He's got a powerhouse staff and you see what can happen.
• 1:16:23
[SPEAKER_00]: I've one note Albert on the Panthers being a Cowboys 30 27 Panthers crawl back to three and three.
• 1:16:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, have you seen, um, I will admit that I didn't enter a wake fix thinking about a Rico doubt or revenge game, but here we are.
• 1:16:44
  [SPEAKER_00]: Here we are.
• 1:16:44
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, did you see, uh, the controversy, uh, controversy, uh, controversy, uh, so I have a little bit of lockdown right now, and I'm going to miss pronounced some stuff.
• 1:16:51
[SPEAKER_00]: I can't help my mouth all the way, which I am sure people at home are like, thank God, you know, that maybe he'll stop talking.
• 1:16:57
[SPEAKER_00]: But the is in plan hurt the two weeks ago the Panthers fan podcast mail mix.
• 1:17:05
  [SPEAKER_00]: Did you see this?
• 1:17:06
[SPEAKER_00]: We have retired retired retired very very fireman ed kind of move there.
• 1:17:12
[SPEAKER_00]: I thought little attention, grabby and sense and this is from humor day videoly.
• 1:17:18
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 1:17:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Panthers fan extraordinaire, digital content editor for NFL Network texted me yesterday with a very valuable nugget, which is that the Panthers are undefeated since the retirement of the Miao Mix podcast.
• 1:17:31
[SPEAKER_01]: So Miao Mix podcast coming back, you can't come back now, right?
• 1:17:39
[SPEAKER_00]: How bad would that look?
• 1:17:40
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 1:17:41
[SPEAKER_00]: You got to step down, this would be like, you stepped down, you cited that I needed to spend time with my family.
• 1:17:49
[SPEAKER_00]: And I can't put all this effort into the Panthers.
• 1:17:53
[SPEAKER_00]: I need to focus on the back.
• 1:17:53
[SPEAKER_00]: But now the cats are back.
• 1:17:55
[SPEAKER_00]: And now the cats are, now the mix is meowing.
• 1:17:58
[SPEAKER_00]: And you can't just walk back into it.
• 1:18:01
  [SPEAKER_00]: He-ha.
• 1:18:03
[SPEAKER_00]: just saying you can't walk the podcast game if you just got to keep going baby we can't stop we got to keep going um the Carolina Panthers though I don't know do you think are they real um did they or did they get the dolphins in the cow's role because like I would say
• 1:18:22
[SPEAKER_01]: For them to, I like, I think it's a great credit to Dave Canalis after what's where they were in the middle of that dolphins game, which I think that was like, was it 17 and nothing at one point in that game right, and they just gotten wallops by the Patriots in Foxboro.
• 1:18:42
[SPEAKER_01]: To be able to pull yourself off the mat, come back when that game against Miami, and then beat the cowboys at home, and you know they have next, right?
• 1:18:52
  [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
• 1:18:52
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's what I wanted to ask.
• 1:18:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's play a little schedule game, okay?
• 1:18:56
  [SPEAKER_00]: We have at Jets.
• 1:18:57
  [SPEAKER_00]: So good for them.
• 1:18:59
[SPEAKER_00]: Congratulations to Dave Canales and that staff.
• 1:19:05
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it would be the first time over 500 of the Dave canalists there are two probably, right?
• 1:19:11
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it would be the first time over 500 in like, I don't think they've been over 500 in a long time.
• 1:19:19
  [SPEAKER_00]: Right?
• 1:19:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Was Matt really over 500 at one point?
• 1:19:22
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, go to my research department here and ask, uh, uh, okay, but hold on very quickly.
• 1:19:29
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's just play the, um, let's just play your body.
• 1:19:31
  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm time, right?
• 1:19:33
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 1:19:33
  [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
• 1:19:33
[SPEAKER_00]: So they have the jets.
• 1:19:35
  [SPEAKER_00]: So let's say you're 4 and 3 after that.
• 1:19:36
  [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
• 1:19:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Then you have the Buffalo Bills.
• 1:19:39
[SPEAKER_00]: Then you have probably the attackers.
• 1:19:40
  [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
• 1:19:43
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not even going to say you're going to split those.
• 1:19:45
  [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you do.
• 1:19:46
  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
• 1:19:47
[SPEAKER_00]: Then you have the Saints.
• 1:19:49
[SPEAKER_00]: So again, I think that you could come out of this.
• 1:19:51
  [SPEAKER_00]: Let's just say worst case scenario, 4 and 3, 4 and 4, 4 and 5, 5 and 5.
• 1:19:56
[SPEAKER_00]: You could be 5 and 5 going on the road on November 16th to Atlanta.
• 1:20:03
[SPEAKER_00]: And then you got Sam.
• 1:20:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the end of this season is a little bit of a toughy.
• 1:20:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Then you have the 49ers, then you have the Rams, then you have a buy, then you have at New Orleans.
• 1:20:13
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that they, I would think that they would probably split with the Saints.
• 1:20:16
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's a fair thing to say, because the Saints are not as bad as everyone's making them out to be.
• 1:20:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Then you say it's just happy.
• 1:20:22
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the Saints, the Saints are a perfect example of what fans don't pay enough attention to, which is.
• 1:20:28
[SPEAKER_01]: the lines of scrimmage, they're actually, the scenes have a very good offensive line and a solid veteran defensive line, and that's enough to keep you in a lot of games.
• 1:20:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Like it doesn't mean you're going to go 12-5, but I think what that does, even if you're
• 1:20:50
[SPEAKER_01]: keep you is going to it's going to allow you to keep games from getting out of control and like put you in a give you a chance to win some of these like kept them in the Buffalo game, kept them in the game we guys doing on yesterday.
• 1:21:04
[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, the Carolina Panthers last time they were over 500 was in 2021, which were the Matt rules second season there.
• 1:21:12
  [SPEAKER_01]: So it's
• 1:21:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Matt rules about to do a press conference today where he says he is no interest in the Penn State job while he's taking the Penn State job.
• 1:21:24
[SPEAKER_01]: So I guess I have to say it.
• 1:21:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I will not be the Penn State coach.
• 1:21:31
  [SPEAKER_01]: I'll do it.
• 1:21:32
[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't want to get Scranton's own opinion on Janice Franco at some point.
• 1:21:36
[SPEAKER_01]: We could say that for the end.
• 1:21:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Scranton is, I'll just say this very quickly.
• 1:21:40
  [SPEAKER_01]: That's a country, right?
• 1:21:41
  [SPEAKER_01]: Like that's yeah.
• 1:21:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Scranton is Penn State Country for sure.
• 1:21:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Scranton, you must have been, I know you're another damn damn, but you must have been surrounded by Penn State people.
• 1:21:50
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 1:21:51
  [SPEAKER_00]: So Scranton is,
• 1:21:53
[SPEAKER_00]: hugely Catholic and then the rest of it is is just full of dopes and the dopes for Penn State and the Catholics for now I'm kidding I love everybody there
• 1:22:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, Penn State fans treated James Franklin the way that Steelers fans treated Mike Tomlick.
• 1:22:08
  [SPEAKER_00]: Plain and simple.
• 1:22:09
  [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
• 1:22:10
[SPEAKER_00]: James Franklin had is winning there.
• 1:22:13
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think Penn States just starting to get, you know, they're just they're just a little bit behind the pack in terms of that that perennial perpetual power five conversation and whether it's, you know, kids don't want to go to state call.
• 1:22:25
  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what it is.
• 1:22:26
  [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
• 1:22:32
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I just, like, who are you gonna get?
• 1:22:35
[SPEAKER_01]: But, I don't know, that's my complaint about it.
• 1:22:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I think it's, I'll tell you who I would hire if I were them not to turn this into a college football podcast.
• 1:22:44
[SPEAKER_01]: I'd probably hire my Matt Campbell from Iowa State.
• 1:22:47
[SPEAKER_00]: I, well, he was on the show, he was on pat 40 shortlist.
• 1:22:50
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 1:22:50
[SPEAKER_00]: So you know, Pat knows what he's talking about.
• 1:22:51
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 1:22:52
[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't have all that covered.
• 1:22:53
[SPEAKER_01]: On the others, we're seeing Vogue's podcast, which is off to a flying star.
• 1:22:56
[SPEAKER_01]: I know Shelby's producing that one too.
• 1:22:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Shelby's doing great one day.
• 1:22:59
[SPEAKER_00]: We're, it's like Matt Damon on, uh, uh, what is it?
• 1:23:03
  [SPEAKER_00]: Is it Jimmy Kimmel?
• 1:23:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Like he never has Matt Damon on like one day.
• 1:23:06
  [SPEAKER_00]: I promise we're going to have Pat 40.
• 1:23:07
[SPEAKER_00]: And I keep saying that.
• 1:23:08
[SPEAKER_00]: And I know that we're going to have that.
• 1:23:09
[SPEAKER_01]: We should do that this week.
• 1:23:10
[SPEAKER_01]: The Bella check thing has kind of settled.
• 1:23:12
[SPEAKER_01]: So now we got a good chance to kind of take a step back and, uh,
• 1:23:16
[SPEAKER_00]: and dive right in all that get some get some good Jordan coverage um Steelers 23 Browns 9 I I got a couple thoughts on this one.
• 1:23:29
[SPEAKER_00]: I I am worried that the Browns are going to get Dylan Gabriel killed before the end of the season It just doesn't look right and I know that this might be kind of a I see a lot of people there are a lot of people on television who are rooting for that outcome I would say
• 1:23:43
[SPEAKER_00]: but like don't you have the wherewithal to see what you're like he was sack six times.
• 1:23:50
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, and let's see, he was hit 16 times.
• 1:23:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, Nick Herbig just absolutely blew this guy up.
• 1:23:59
[SPEAKER_00]: TJ Wattenham three times Jalen Ramsey blitz from the secondary a couple times in this game.
• 1:24:04
[SPEAKER_00]: And just absolutely knocked this poor kid out.
• 1:24:07
  [SPEAKER_00]: And
• 1:24:08
[SPEAKER_00]: He's not going to make it a full season Albert and I'm not rooting all this.
• 1:24:12
  [SPEAKER_00]: I just don't think he's in a good spot.
• 1:24:14
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so there's going to be a lot of conversation about this You cannot When games if you have Dylan Gabriel throwing 52 times All right, every time you just someone says how many attempts he had I lap.
• 1:24:30
  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
• 1:24:31
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's crazy And it's actually not 52.
• 1:24:32
[SPEAKER_01]: It's 58 because he was sex six times
• 1:24:37
  [SPEAKER_01]: Fifty-eight.
• 1:24:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, that's like, and almost, it almost looks fake.
• 1:24:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Looking at it, you know what I mean?
• 1:24:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and I love Kevin's defense game.
• 1:24:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Tommy Reese, I think Scott great potential is a coordinator and all of that, but, I mean, holy crap.
• 1:24:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, against that defense, you know, with those rosters with the depth that they have in past rosters, and you give those guys a shot to pin their ears back.
• 1:25:06
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, looking at now, TJ water, three hits of the quarterback.
• 1:25:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Jalen Ramsey had two hits in the quarterback.
• 1:25:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, her big, you know, Jack Sawyer's starting to get into that mix.
• 1:25:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Alex High Smith is back.
• 1:25:17
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, on what planet is that the right game plan, when you just had to trade for Kim Fricking Robinson to play off tackle.
• 1:25:27
  [SPEAKER_01]: I just, yeah, yeah, I don't know.
• 1:25:29
  [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
• 1:25:30
[SPEAKER_01]: And like again, like you know what's gonna happen now is like what's gonna happen now is a bunch of people are gonna take dealing Gabriel's performance in a vacuum as if he's a tennis player, right?
• 1:25:39
  [SPEAKER_01]: And like it's like it's just a one-on-one sports ace.
• 1:25:42
  [SPEAKER_01]: He's not good enough.
• 1:25:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Should you or couldn't do better than this?
• 1:25:46
[SPEAKER_00]: You do sound like someone from Cleveland, no, I'm kidding.
• 1:25:48
  [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I don't know.
• 1:25:49
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like I said, it's probably all moot anyway because I don't think they're quarterback for 20, 26 is on the roster right now.
• 1:25:56
[SPEAKER_01]: But I would not be surprised if we eventually see to shine a lot some playing quarterback for them this year.
• 1:26:05
  [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, what?
• 1:26:08
[SPEAKER_01]: But we talked about that, right?
• 1:26:10
  [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't know, I just, I personally feel like you've
• 1:26:15
[SPEAKER_01]: You still have a chance to take a free look at the Sean Watts and why not, when is he going to be ready to play?
• 1:26:23
[SPEAKER_01]: So I know I have to check back in on this because I know like the thought was late October early November would be cleared.
• 1:26:31
[SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't mean he can play then.
• 1:26:32
[SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't mean he's like they're going to put him out there then, but I know that was sort of the target date.
• 1:26:36
[SPEAKER_01]: I got to check back in on that.
• 1:26:40
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I guess it makes more sense, right?
• 1:26:42
[SPEAKER_00]: You would want to maybe a three game sample size on him before you totally shut the door on it, right?
• 1:26:50
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 1:26:51
[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, like the hope I had for the Browns, like it was, they always shaking in this one.
• 1:26:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is, this was just not good.
• 1:27:00
  [SPEAKER_01]: He's pushing out like,
• 1:27:03
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like Rogers looked good here, this did have the field of me of like the Steelers had that like sort of in third gear, you know what I mean?
• 1:27:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's like we know we got to play on Thursday night.
• 1:27:13
[SPEAKER_01]: So like let's just kind of like ride this one out and and get ourselves.
• 1:27:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Get ourselves healthy and rested and ready to go for Thursday against the bangles.
• 1:27:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Browns fans are so like depraved and for multiple reasons, but you see the tweets now that are being like, to show them what's in his last three starts, you know, 800 yards, five touchdowns, one in like, you know, if we just hang around here a little bit, it's like, guys, just put your hopes out to pasture.
• 1:27:39
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not that kind of such.
• 1:27:40
  [SPEAKER_01]: I think I honestly think like there's there's like,
• 1:27:45
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I even like the, like I like the Tyson Campbell trade, I think the, like I, like the idea of getting a number two corner at that rate, like guy who's got that sort of talent, like, and he hasn't been perfect.
• 1:27:55
[SPEAKER_01]: But like I do think like you look at like the totality of where the browns are and where they're going to be coming out of the year and there's reason for a lot of optimism based in the way they drafted this year and what they have with the two first round picks next year, but you're going to have to ride out a bunch more after news like this one to get there.
• 1:28:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm just sick of like, I know this is like an off hand comment and then I'm gonna move on and it's not fair because it's sort of a little bit of a drive-by, but I'm just sick of like clapping and being like the browns are doing so many smart things and then they just never make the play out and then they trade for quarterbacks and they just completely blow the thing up over and over again and get to continue to experiment with all this high draft capital, but that's new here and over there.
• 1:28:33
  [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry.
• 1:28:35
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a little brown span and you're coming out.
• 1:28:37
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a little brown span of me.
• 1:28:38
[SPEAKER_00]: I know I had to stop it down and I tell you we went to Bengals and you and Mitch were so sweet because you let my son pick what you didn't like.
• 1:28:47
[SPEAKER_00]: My son picked our new team and he picked the Bengals because of the stripes.
• 1:28:50
[SPEAKER_00]: But then he's actually been watching football with me and he got it.
• 1:28:54
  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't like the Bengals anymore.
• 1:28:55
[SPEAKER_00]: He said we're Giants fans now and he's all in on Darden Skat about like he's just so he's so.
• 1:29:00
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of friends with school that are Giants fans that are influencing him.
• 1:29:03
[SPEAKER_00]: no because he's I mean he's four so he doesn't his friends are like what is what is football like there's no there's no thought there's no like and he will watch because I think they play on Thursday night and it was really exciting and then I think we watched maybe it was
• 1:29:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Darts first game together, and I think he was really sort of getting into it.
• 1:29:26
  [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know.
• 1:29:27
[SPEAKER_00]: We're actually out of our guy.
• 1:29:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I guess I root for him while he's a root for camscat about while he's healthy.
• 1:29:33
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, not to be a dick, but it's like he is he is throwing himself in Harv's way.
• 1:29:38
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 1:29:39
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, last one here called 31 Cardinals 27 Arizona played better than I thought they would give him the John gain in situation from last week.
• 1:29:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Sure, I don't know if I think you're going to ask what I was going to ask you, go, go, go, go, go.
• 1:29:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Let me say the offense looked better with Joe, but you could be reset.
• 1:30:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Then Kyle and Murray did.
• 1:30:03
  [SPEAKER_01]: I did.
• 1:30:04
  [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
• 1:30:05
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like, this feels like one of those games where people won't remember it, but this might be one that Arizona people, the front office there, the coaches have to file away.
• 1:30:15
  [SPEAKER_01]: There's like
• 1:30:17
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, maybe we need to start looking and maybe like a game like this could be like the precursor to You know, looking at whoever it is, Dante more Fernando Mendoza, whoever winds up being at the top of the draft next year, Garma, Gary Nussmire You know, like it feels like this, this is the sort of like,
• 1:30:37
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, do we really need to look at this type of thing?
• 1:30:40
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
• 1:30:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Because they just got a guy going in there.
• 1:30:44
[SPEAKER_01]: And Jacobi is like, I love Jacobi.
• 1:30:47
[SPEAKER_01]: He's the ultimate like, hands a 10 to quarter back, you know?
• 1:30:51
  [SPEAKER_01]: Like he'll do it.
• 1:30:51
[SPEAKER_01]: He'll run the offense the way you're prescribing him to run it.
• 1:30:55
  [SPEAKER_01]: And
• 1:30:57
[SPEAKER_01]: There was for 320 to touchdowns.
• 1:30:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Marvin Harrison goes down in game.
• 1:31:02
[SPEAKER_01]: McBride has a huge game of say, Jones, Michael Walsh.
• 1:31:05
  [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's just, I don't know, man.
• 1:31:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Like it looked, there was an efficiency to it that maybe it wasn't quite there with Kyle or Murray, which I think my cause you to ask some big picture questions with them.
• 1:31:18
[SPEAKER_01]: And the cults look like, like, this, um, think we use this line last year when your clunkers just like felt a little bit like the cults clunker game.
• 1:31:26
[SPEAKER_01]: And they, uh, and they found a way to, to, to ride it out and win.
• 1:31:30
  [SPEAKER_01]: So good for them.
• 1:31:31
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 1:31:32
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you get, I mean, these are the ones, uh, in, at this point, you're right.
• 1:31:37
  [SPEAKER_00]: That is the focus.
• 1:31:38
[SPEAKER_00]: That is the big picture question.
• 1:31:40
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, good for, you know, Jacoby Brissette.
• 1:31:43
[SPEAKER_00]: He looked good enough, right?
• 1:31:46
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think you saw some guys kind of come a little bit more alive in that passing offense.
• 1:31:50
[SPEAKER_00]: It's tough right now because there's no complimentary run game.
• 1:31:53
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, all you're running backs are wiped out at this point.
• 1:31:55
[SPEAKER_00]: And you're in a bad spot on that.
• 1:31:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, Connor was a really bad loss for them.
• 1:31:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because he's just, he's sort of, he's sort of brings a lot of the personality to that running game to that team.
• 1:32:07
[SPEAKER_01]: And so that was a tough loss.
• 1:32:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Tray Benson thing, like only compounds it.
• 1:32:16
[SPEAKER_01]: The Amarfato, one carry, one yard, tough on court for.
• 1:32:22
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if we got to the bottom of that case last week, we did, you know, I will save this.
• 1:32:28
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that the general public agreed with me, but it was a fun conversation to have, nonetheless, some very clever, clever and air quotes, adjectives that were used to describe my take on that situation.
• 1:32:43
  [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah.
• 1:32:44
  [SPEAKER_00]: So there we are.
• 1:32:45
  [SPEAKER_00]: And there we go.
• 1:32:45
[SPEAKER_00]: We got a money night double-header tonight.
• 1:32:47
  [SPEAKER_00]: Mother of God.
• 1:32:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Can we get rid of these things?
• 1:32:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Wait till next week when we got another one of those those coveted 10 p.m.
• 1:32:56
  [SPEAKER_01]: Eastern kickoffs.
• 1:32:59
[SPEAKER_00]: I love football it's actually it's actually a great like it's actually a shame that I'm gonna fall asleep in the second quarter of that one because that's Texan c-hawks Which I'm really looking forward to I know I love I love I love football But these two games are good and they deserve to not be competing against one another I was actually talking to Falcons player about the some Friday
• 1:33:23
[SPEAKER_00]: He was like, I love Monday football.
• 1:33:24
[SPEAKER_00]: I love being the only game and there's something really special about that, but it does take away from the fact that your player, you know, there's another game on there is a whole players.
• 1:33:32
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what the players have always talked about with Monday night is like, yeah, the Thursday doesn't really have the same thing because it's like in the middle of their work week, but Monday, the players are all generally off.
• 1:33:43
[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of their downtime and everyone, it's like the, it's a spot where the most players are watching.
• 1:33:52
  [SPEAKER_01]: right.
• 1:33:54
  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
• 1:33:56
[SPEAKER_00]: And now you've got a shuffle back and forth between.
• 1:33:58
[SPEAKER_00]: And then they never quite get it right where they have, they always end up having their beat team.
• 1:34:05
[SPEAKER_00]: They're announcing beat team on the really good game and then Buck and Aekman are just like trying to play out the string.
• 1:34:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Like it just never works out exactly the way.
• 1:34:12
[SPEAKER_00]: I said it last week though.
• 1:34:15
[SPEAKER_01]: I've got such a great appreciation for Troy Aekman right now.
• 1:34:18
  [SPEAKER_01]: I think he might
• 1:34:21
  [SPEAKER_00]: Can I?
• 1:34:21
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm friendly with Joe because of you know, I work with Joe's with Michelle buys and or so they're great people buys and Joe were awesome so I don't know Troy as well, but I said it last week.
• 1:34:35
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's like
• 1:34:36
[SPEAKER_01]: I've gotten such a great appreciation for him as he's sort of settled into this phase where he's passed like the point of giving a crap about what people think just says what he thinks isn't caring anybody's water like I just there's like a kind of like a natural annoyance to try the way Troy acheman calls him and he isn't annoyed with things and isn't afraid to share it which I really appreciate because the way I am you know yeah
• 1:35:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, there's no doubt and Joe's obviously awesome, too.
• 1:35:07
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's I mean for my money, I think the best team that we got right now.
• 1:35:12
[SPEAKER_00]: This is a great compliment to Trake.
• 1:35:14
[SPEAKER_00]: My friend, one of my really good friends, his dad is from Egypt, awesome guy.
• 1:35:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Definitely like a soccer first guy, but fell in love with American football when he came to the country and he told me that he loves Trakeman because he's an amazing shape.
• 1:35:29
[SPEAKER_01]: And he's like, yeah, yeah, yeah, he is he's ripped up for I mean, I don't know how somebody his age me because he's he's got to be sexy, right, baby.
• 1:35:42
  [SPEAKER_01]: Is he 60?
• 1:35:43
[SPEAKER_01]: I think so close to it anyway
• 1:35:48
  [SPEAKER_01]: He is 58.
• 1:35:49
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 1:35:50
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 1:35:51
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 1:35:52
[SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, yeah, just everything about that guy, like exudes quarterback anyway, you know what I mean?
• 1:35:59
[SPEAKER_01]: But I just, I've really come to appreciate how he's in no one's pocket.
• 1:36:05
[SPEAKER_01]: He says what he thinks.
• 1:36:06
[SPEAKER_01]: What you see is what you get.
• 1:36:07
[SPEAKER_01]: I like I said, like I think the best, the best color guy there is right now.
• 1:36:14
[SPEAKER_01]: with all the respect like I love herb street on college right like so herbie and herbie and college and then eight men in the pros.
• 1:36:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I'm a I'm Olson in the pros right now and you're Joel Clacka I'm big I like Joel Clacka lot too.
• 1:36:31
  [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
• 1:36:32
[SPEAKER_00]: I just can't listen to anything after the Eric Collins Panthers game last week.
• 1:36:36
[SPEAKER_00]: I just I need him in every I need him in every every game that I watch.
• 1:36:40
[SPEAKER_00]: I need him in there.
• 1:36:40
[SPEAKER_00]: I need my daily life.
• 1:36:41
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm at the point now at the Ohio State Games where Gus shot like the Fox music.
• 1:36:49
[SPEAKER_01]: The Fox music gives me anxiety because I've had like some because because of the Michigan games for the last few years So like Gus was like Gus and Joel and the Fox music like like legitimately give me anxiety I need to get myself past that.
• 1:37:03
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm probably gonna get I'm getting back there because, you know Yesterday I went and visited
• 1:37:10
[SPEAKER_00]: my buddies were up for the weekend and we were all hanging out and then I went to go see my grandma and my whole family was there and we were talking about we were like kind of drawn out how Notre Dame came get back into the tournament you know and I think they could probably back their way into the tournament if they went out but they got USC and so now I'm starting to feel that little undercurrent of nerves because you know after you start the season the way that you do you kind of just throw away any any possibility that this is going to be okay but
• 1:37:39
[SPEAKER_00]: Sick to my tummy feeling.
• 1:37:40
[SPEAKER_00]: It's the best part of being a fan.
• 1:37:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Did you ever hear the got spur We're on gust.
• 1:37:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Did you ever hear the gust johnson call on Denzel Ward in college?
• 1:37:49
[SPEAKER_01]: No, can I play it for you right now?
• 1:37:52
  [SPEAKER_00]: Play it for me.
• 1:37:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all right hold on.
• 1:37:54
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna play it for you right now.
• 1:37:56
[SPEAKER_01]: All right Because it was against Maryland Ohio State Maryland and Denzel Ward absolutely destroyed this guy.
• 1:38:02
  [SPEAKER_01]: So here we go
• 1:38:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Warren Schlagger to the sideline caught first down.
• 1:38:07
  [SPEAKER_02]: Woo!
• 1:38:08
  [SPEAKER_02]: What a hit.
• 1:38:10
  [SPEAKER_02]: Dead's down, Lord.
• 1:38:11
[SPEAKER_02]: You got barbecue back there.
• 1:38:14
[SPEAKER_02]: And you didn't invite me.
• 1:38:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Perk my Felix hurt my Felix.
• 1:38:26
[SPEAKER_01]: So then he came back eight years later or seven years later.
• 1:38:30
[SPEAKER_01]: And last year, Ohio State had a coroner, Denzel Burke, who now plays for the Cardinals, who had this say it's amazing.
• 1:38:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Here, I'll play you the second one, too.
• 1:38:41
[SPEAKER_01]: The second one is, hold on.
• 1:38:43
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, here's the second one.
• 1:38:47
[SPEAKER_01]: The second one, this was...
• 1:38:55
  [SPEAKER_02]: No, here it is.
• 1:38:55
[SPEAKER_02]: Tango by Loa, steps up in the pocket, drops it off.
• 1:38:59
  [SPEAKER_02]: Woo!
• 1:39:01
[SPEAKER_02]: He in the kitchen, 10-Zell Burr.
• 1:39:06
[SPEAKER_02]: It reminds me of a kid named Dead Zell War.
• 1:39:09
[SPEAKER_02]: I was looking back on the line.
• 1:39:10
[SPEAKER_02]: You got a barricade back there and did it.
• 1:39:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Vite me, hurt my feelings.
• 1:39:18
[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, Gus is high wire act.
• 1:39:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Gus is high wire act.
• 1:39:22
  [SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
• 1:39:23
[SPEAKER_01]: It gives me anxiety, though, because those games are a high wire act for me in general, but yeah, yeah.
• 1:39:30
[SPEAKER_01]: So Gus and Gus and Joel, they're up there on my list, probably right underneath that or in her upstream the college side.
• 1:39:37
  [SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's all good.
• 1:39:38
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I have a lot of respect for anybody calling those games, not an easy job.
• 1:39:43
[SPEAKER_00]: And neither is this, but we have, the bad way to do it.
• 1:39:46
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we have the best time.
