- 0:06Speaker 1: It is time believe your worries outside and laugh with
- 0:10Speaker 1: us inside the treehouse. I'm Dan O'Malley, along with Trey
- 0:13Speaker 1: Trenholm and Raj Sharma expectations versus reality. The city that
- 0:23Speaker 1: does it the best or the worst, depending on your expectations,
- 0:27Speaker 1: is Hollywood. Hollywood has set some amazing expectations for us,
- 0:31Speaker 1: but then something happens in real life to dash all
- 0:35Speaker 1: those misconceptions that we've consumed thanks to Hollywood. And the
- 0:39Speaker 1: best recent example I can offer up of that is
- 0:43Speaker 1: the robbery at the Louver, because Hollywood set the expectations
- 0:49Speaker 1: for all of this that it would be really, really
- 0:52Speaker 1: hard to break into the Louver and steal crown jewels
- 0:56Speaker 1: from Napoleon's time.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Reality of the is all you need is a ladder
- 1:02Speaker 2: and a couple of hammers, and we're all stunned. And
- 1:08Speaker 2: I don't know who's more stunned, the Louver or the
- 1:11Speaker 2: rest of the world, because I'm guessing the guys that
- 1:14Speaker 2: did it were pretty much they got what they expected
- 1:17Speaker 2: because they had the plan already.
- 1:19Speaker 1: They seemed to know.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I love that it just took a ladder.
- 1:25Speaker 4: All the security measures that they have at the Louver
- 1:28Speaker 4: They're just like, you know what, no one's going to
- 1:30Speaker 4: use the ladder, and these guys are like, hole, my beer.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Is it possible that security at the Louver also watched
- 1:37Speaker 1: the same movies we did and thought, well, we have
- 1:41Speaker 1: to make sure we have all these intricate security systems
- 1:43Speaker 1: in place. We got to make sure that all the
- 1:47Speaker 1: laser beams are Catherine Zada Jones proved, we got to
- 1:50Speaker 1: make sure all the tunnels are concreted in. But they
- 1:53Speaker 1: didn't stop to think about what happens if someone uses
- 1:57Speaker 1: a ladder.
- 1:59Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, a little more than a ladder, but
- 2:04Speaker 5: you know, but I mean here, the number one problem
- 2:07Speaker 5: is the security at the fucking Love is like the
- 2:10Speaker 5: security at CVS. They're you're they're basically going like, oh well,
- 2:13Speaker 5: if they're robbing you, just let them take it. I mean,
- 2:16Speaker 5: they bullied the fucking security guards. I mean, I understand
- 2:22Speaker 5: if you're you know, guarded guarding the you know, the
- 2:25Speaker 5: lotion and and toothpaste at CVS. But when you're guarding
- 2:28Speaker 5: guarding the Mona Lisa and the Crown Jewels, shoot the motherfuckers.
- 2:34Speaker 1: That's why they give you the gun. Yeah.
- 2:36Speaker 3: I don't know if they even had guns. But how
- 2:41Speaker 3: French of that?
- 2:41Speaker 5: How how Frinch could you get?
- 2:44Speaker 3: Wait?
- 2:45Speaker 1: Yeah, Rose, are you talking about the robbers or the
- 2:47Speaker 1: security guards?
- 2:50Speaker 3: One of them had a hammer, So again, are.
- 2:53Speaker 1: We talking about the security guards or the robbers.
- 2:56Speaker 4: The robbers won because they they went to a home
- 2:58Speaker 4: depot first. Uh, I know.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I never in a million years when I have thought
- 3:05Speaker 1: that a successful robbery at the louver would have been
- 3:09Speaker 1: in essence of smash and grab. Never in a million years.
- 3:13Speaker 4: And then they fled on motorcycles so they could so
- 3:16Speaker 4: they the police cars couldn't even catch them because the
- 3:18Speaker 4: motorcycles were and they dropped one.
- 3:21Speaker 5: Of the most expensive valuable items that they stole.
- 3:26Speaker 1: They dropped the crown, the Crown of the Crown jewels. Yeah, yeah,
- 3:34Speaker 1: I will say the motorcycle x Phil was very Hollywood.
- 3:37Speaker 1: That part seemed to be pretty accurate. Used the motorcycles
- 3:40Speaker 1: to get away from police in Europe, That part worked well.
- 3:43Speaker 5: Have y'all seen the video they just released of they
- 3:46Speaker 5: basically are their escape so it was latter esque, but
- 3:51Speaker 5: it's a slide that you would slide furniture down. Okay,
- 3:55Speaker 5: they basically wait.
- 4:01Speaker 1: So they're movers and they just you know, either they're
- 4:07Speaker 1: movers themselves, or they took a moving truck from an
- 4:11Speaker 1: apartment mover company that's used to sliding furniture down from
- 4:15Speaker 1: you know, floors above one.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Yeah, that's exactly that's exactly.
- 4:22Speaker 3: What they did.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Some best plans are the most simple.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Now, where do you sell the stuff?
- 4:28Speaker 5: Is there like they can't like, well, they said that
- 4:32Speaker 5: they'll have to take apart everything and then you know,
- 4:36Speaker 5: recut stones and everything else unless there is some you know,
- 4:41Speaker 5: and now this is where you get Hollywood esque of
- 4:44Speaker 5: is there some you know, crazy billionaire who's want to
- 4:47Speaker 5: want to have some you know, extravagant private collection of
- 4:51Speaker 5: stolen goods.
- 4:52Speaker 3: That is going to just have them?
- 4:54Speaker 1: A Saudi sultan somewhere on his yacht.
- 4:57Speaker 4: Why is he going to be brown people, Dan? Why
- 4:59Speaker 4: couldn't just be a crazy white guy I want to
- 5:01Speaker 4: say brown people sultan is white?
- 5:06Speaker 1: Crazy white guys are too busy shooting up places to
- 5:09Speaker 1: take time in stolen property. So the sultans are the
- 5:13Speaker 1: ones that have all this, have all this you know, income,
- 5:18Speaker 1: with the oil and everything. It's like, you know, we'll
- 5:20Speaker 1: just get some new jewelry. Tell that to Elon Musk
- 5:26Speaker 1: he doesn't buy jewelry. He's got fourteen hundred kids. He
- 5:30Speaker 1: has to he has to do something for them.
- 5:33Speaker 3: He's got saving up.
- 5:34Speaker 1: For all the weddings. Look, we're getting sidetracked here. The
- 5:39Speaker 1: point is it's the Hollywood versus reality expectations. Everything I didn't.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I knew they had dropped a very important artifact that
- 5:48Speaker 1: they had stolen. I didn't realize it was basically the
- 5:50Speaker 1: most valuable one.
- 5:53Speaker 3: So yeah, yeah, and how do you how do you
- 5:56Speaker 3: live that down?
- 5:57Speaker 4: When you get back to like bad guy headquarters and
- 6:00Speaker 4: I'm like, so, where's the crown?
- 6:01Speaker 3: And You're like, Steve, did you drop the crown?
- 6:04Speaker 5: Like Jacques, you had one fucking job.
- 6:11Speaker 1: You'll put in pounds. You don't hold you a hand,
- 6:15Speaker 1: all right, that's not my really bad accident. Went from
- 6:18Speaker 1: bad friends to sort of a bad swords nigger.
- 6:20Speaker 5: There.
- 6:21Speaker 4: That's not a crown, Steve, that's a hammer. I told
- 6:25Speaker 4: you to drop the hammer, keep the brown. How did
- 6:27Speaker 4: you fuck this up?
- 6:29Speaker 1: Steve's Steve's dislets.
- 6:37Speaker 4: That's time no one with a learning disability, Okay.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Uh. The other thing that usually happens in films and
- 6:44Speaker 1: these heist things is there's usually like with inner poll
- 6:47Speaker 1: or whatever. There's always a set number of people that
- 6:50Speaker 1: are only these are the only people capable of carrying
- 6:52Speaker 1: out heists of this magnitude kind of a thing. And
- 6:56Speaker 1: this part kind of has happened because Trey, you saw
- 6:59Speaker 1: this and sent to me, who are the Pink Panther Gang?
- 7:03Speaker 1: And are they behind the Louver robbery? This is exciting
- 7:08Speaker 1: the Pink Panthers.
- 7:12Speaker 3: That's the most French thing you can do. Right.
- 7:14Speaker 4: There is to be a gang, not the Blood's, not
- 7:17Speaker 4: the crips.
- 7:18Speaker 3: What are you? Is it? Pink Panther Holse, You're a gang?
- 7:22Speaker 1: And look, there's only been so many notorious gangs throughout
- 7:27Speaker 1: the history of man. You basically have a blank slate
- 7:30Speaker 1: to choose whatever badass gang name you want. And now
- 7:35Speaker 1: all sat around, I'm assuming smoking and came up with
- 7:39Speaker 1: the Pink Panthers.
- 7:42Speaker 3: How do you get jumped into that gang? That's the
- 7:45Speaker 3: softly like a bitch.
- 7:52Speaker 5: I mean, did they pick the name or were they
- 7:57Speaker 5: like the puffy coat bandit?
- 7:58Speaker 1: Did they just get That is true because like in
- 8:02Speaker 1: the American on the American side of things, if you
- 8:04Speaker 1: rob a bank, the FBI is the one that typically
- 8:06Speaker 1: gives you your name. You don't, it's and that's the
- 8:09Speaker 1: way it's supposed to be. Is you don't choose a nickname,
- 8:13Speaker 1: the peak, it's as signed to you, right, So I
- 8:16Speaker 1: don't know if I don't know if the French do.
- 8:18Speaker 3: The same way.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Eight priceless treasures from the Apollo Gallery and the world
- 8:22Speaker 1: famous Louver have been stolen by chainsaw wielding robbers. Okay,
- 8:27Speaker 1: that's a new wrinkle.
- 8:28Speaker 6: I didn't know.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I didn't realize they had chainsaws as well. Authorities are
- 8:31Speaker 1: scrambling to find the gang behind the heist that targeted
- 8:34Speaker 1: high security display cases in the famous French museum. The criminals,
- 8:38Speaker 1: who disguise themselves as construction workers on a cherry picker,
- 8:41Speaker 1: are still on the run. Kind of brilliant. Authorities fear
- 8:47Speaker 1: the one of a kind and therefore highly recognizable items
- 8:49Speaker 1: will be melted down and destroyed before thieves can sell them.
- 8:54Speaker 1: There are fears that those responsible could be part of
- 8:56Speaker 1: the Pink Panthers, a gang which previous stole twenty three
- 9:01Speaker 1: million pounds of diamonds that's dollar pounds, not actual pounds
- 9:06Speaker 1: of diamonds from Graft jewelers in London in two thousand
- 9:10Speaker 1: and three so either they've been on a bit of
- 9:12Speaker 1: a hiatus.
- 9:16Speaker 4: Well, I mean that that kind of a heist can
- 9:18Speaker 4: afford you at twenty two year weight.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Well, hey, everybody, we're getting the band back together. A
- 9:25Speaker 1: lot of Panthers, you're back, Sorry, Trey God.
- 9:28Speaker 5: A lot of times some of these high end highsts
- 9:30Speaker 5: they don't make public just for fear of copycat or
- 9:34Speaker 5: anything else.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Yeah, copy Panther. Sorry, I had to say. Many members
- 9:41Speaker 1: of the gang are ex soldiers of extensive backgrounds in
- 9:44Speaker 1: paramilitary training. So could the infamous gang be behind the
- 9:47Speaker 1: louver theft. Members of the Pink Panthers hill from former
- 9:51Speaker 1: Yugoslavian states, including Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia. Enterpole estimates that
- 9:55Speaker 1: there are approximately eight hundred key members of the excuse
- 9:58Speaker 1: me criminal network? Why the Panthers? Stop it? If if
- 10:04Speaker 1: they're the Pink Panthers, you say the whole name. You
- 10:06Speaker 1: can't just say the Panthers. That's different expectations. The Pink
- 10:11Speaker 1: Panthers have a history of targeting museums as well as jewelers.
- 10:13Speaker 1: In two thousand and eight, a museum in Switzerland had
- 10:16Speaker 1: a Monet van go Seisan and a Degas stolen with
- 10:20Speaker 1: an estimated worth of one hundred nineteen million, one hundred
- 10:24Speaker 1: and sixty two and eighty pounds. Also credit to me
- 10:27Speaker 1: for saying all those names properly. Others would have said
- 10:30Speaker 1: dakas I said dega because I know, yes, thank you
- 10:35Speaker 1: to give me, give me the give me all the claps.
- 10:38Speaker 1: I appreciate that you want all the claps claps plural,
- 10:42Speaker 1: I don't want the singular one, which is the viral.
- 10:46Speaker 3: I give you all the clap. I don't want that.
- 10:49Speaker 1: No one wants all the clap claps yes, clap no,
- 10:53Speaker 1: Uh okay. So the Pink Panther Gang, they're wondering, are
- 10:56Speaker 1: they the ones that did it? I'm wondering if you
- 10:59Speaker 1: call yourselves the Pink pant at their game, aren't you
- 11:01Speaker 1: required to use the theme song as you carry out
- 11:03Speaker 1: your nefarious plans?
- 11:05Speaker 3: Yes?
- 11:05Speaker 4: And don't you have to have like the cigarette with
- 11:07Speaker 4: the little filter and I don't know what that's called,
- 11:11Speaker 4: a little too, like the little filter that is filter.
- 11:15Speaker 1: It's just a big monocle filter, monocle array, of course.
- 11:19Speaker 3: I mean.
- 11:20Speaker 5: And you have to have the song, which which, judging
- 11:22Speaker 5: by the way they went, I think you could have done.
- 11:24Speaker 1: It because Here's where their favorite part of this is.
- 11:28Speaker 1: They're dressed as construction workers. They use a cherry picker
- 11:31Speaker 1: on a ladder to get up to the second floor
- 11:33Speaker 1: to then make injury, smash stuff, and then slide back
- 11:36Speaker 1: down the apparatus. The Pink Panther song Let's all do It.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Momentarily that theme song, beats per minute matches about how
- 11:54Speaker 1: long it would take the slow moving cherry picker to
- 11:57Speaker 1: raise itself up to the second floor, giving security ample
- 12:01Speaker 1: time to wonder, Hey, what are these guys up to.
- 12:04Speaker 1: We don't have any maintenance scheduled for today, just slowly
- 12:10Speaker 1: creeping up.
- 12:12Speaker 5: I clearly they they don't communicate well with security because
- 12:19Speaker 5: they didn't really seem to notice, I mean, raise a
- 12:21Speaker 5: cherry picker. I mean the only Hollywood thing ask about
- 12:24Speaker 5: it is the saw they used to cut the circular,
- 12:27Speaker 5: you know, hole in the window, or they crawled through.
- 12:29Speaker 5: That was kind of cool. But again the security, no taser,
- 12:35Speaker 5: no pepper spray. It's something.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Did they move, did they react?
- 12:40Speaker 5: They said they were protecting the crowd, and they basically
- 12:45Speaker 5: they bullied them with a hammer, and so they ran off.
- 12:48Speaker 1: They're protecting the crowd from all the flying glass about
- 12:51Speaker 1: the smashing in the Robbie. Yeah, stand back, we don't
- 12:53Speaker 1: have me to get cut.
- 12:55Speaker 5: All I can see is the you know, Kevin Bacon
- 12:57Speaker 5: and animal House, stay room. There's nothing to see here
- 13:02Speaker 5: as the crowd, I don't know if you've seen the
- 13:03Speaker 5: videos the other crowds running down the hallways.
- 13:06Speaker 1: The only thing better would have been if the security
- 13:08Speaker 1: guards turned around and said let me help.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:12Speaker 4: I like the fact that they were dressed as construction
- 13:14Speaker 4: workers and one was an Indian chief, one was a cop.
- 13:18Speaker 4: It was basically the village people of robberies.
- 13:29Speaker 1: They all just it goes from They all could have
- 13:31Speaker 1: broken out into one line dance and it would have
- 13:33Speaker 1: made it still would have Yeah.
- 13:35Speaker 5: Just oh it just goes, you know, all of a sudden,
- 13:37Speaker 5: you and then you break out the horns start y
- 13:41Speaker 5: m c A.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Security guards leading everyone as everybody. God, what an absolute dumb,
- 13:50Speaker 1: dumb thing. Because when I saw the headline, I was like, oh,
- 13:53Speaker 1: this is cool, this is going to be good. Because
- 13:55Speaker 1: I've seen National Treasure and I've seen uh brain farting
- 14:00Speaker 1: on the name of the movie right now, But the
- 14:02Speaker 1: one with Catherine Zada Jones and Sean Connery where they
- 14:04Speaker 1: have to pull off the you know, the big heist
- 14:06Speaker 1: thing where he creepily watches her do yoga between laser lines.
- 14:10Speaker 1: It was just kind of weird.
- 14:11Speaker 4: But anyway, I think we all creepily watched that one.
- 14:16Speaker 4: That was not just Sean Connery, that was all of us.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Rewind play, rewind play. Yeah, I had it on BHS,
- 14:29Speaker 1: of course, But of course I can't remember the name
- 14:31Speaker 1: of the damn movie off the top of my head
- 14:33Speaker 1: right now. But anyway, I've got too much Peak Panther
- 14:35Speaker 1: rolling around in there. So the gang, the people, the
- 14:39Speaker 1: suspects still on the loose. Eight objects were taken as
- 14:43Speaker 1: sapphire diadem, a necklace, and a single earring from a
- 14:46Speaker 1: matching set linked to the nineteenth century French queen's Marie
- 14:50Speaker 1: Amelie and Hortense. What a bunch of jerks you're gonna
- 14:55Speaker 1: take the one? You read this sounds like a dick move.
- 15:00Speaker 4: Well, I mean maybe they were just big fans of
- 15:02Speaker 4: the eighties and they're just gonna put it in their
- 15:04Speaker 4: left ear and you wake them up before you go go.
- 15:07Speaker 1: See, we just cracked the case. The secret buyer.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Boy George the Culture Club is the one that got
- 15:17Speaker 3: all the jewelry.
- 15:18Speaker 5: Or that's another thing they dropped and then you know
- 15:20Speaker 5: they got there. Really you couldn't get the set, just
- 15:24Speaker 5: the one.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Really, what am I going to do with this?
- 15:27Speaker 3: Go back and get it. See if it's in the road,
- 15:31Speaker 3: because no one's the French. Somebody just kicked it to
- 15:33Speaker 3: the side. You all right? What bounds everywhere?
- 15:38Speaker 1: I don't want to throw too much on inner Pole's
- 15:40Speaker 1: plate here. But there was another robbery. There was another
- 15:43Speaker 1: theft recently. This one occurred in the United States. Here
- 15:47Speaker 1: we go, there's video of this one.
- 15:51Speaker 6: County those autographs to give us those numbers, ny Am
- 15:54Speaker 6: got bumped, We'll go back to the line to shoot too.
- 16:01Speaker 1: So now that you've seen it, I'll reset this. As
- 16:04Speaker 1: it says in the caption, Sophie cunning him sat on
- 16:07Speaker 1: the cameraman's face and he did nothing to stop her.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Let's watch this again, Nick.
- 16:13Speaker 6: She's counting those autographs to give us those numbers. Donnie
- 16:16Speaker 6: Am got bumped. We'll go back to the line to
- 16:19Speaker 6: shoot too.
- 16:21Speaker 1: That there was a theft of innocence for that poor
- 16:24Speaker 1: man's face. Yeah, I have a second angle on this,
- 16:29Speaker 1: by the way, I should probably be actually clarify, it's
- 16:33Speaker 1: not a second angle. It's just more of a zoomed
- 16:35Speaker 1: in so we can analyze it more professionally. Actually, it
- 16:42Speaker 1: appears a computer grimlin ate the other angle I thought
- 16:44Speaker 1: I had. So let's just rewatch this lovely one here.
- 16:46Speaker 6: Nick's counting those autographs to give us those numbers. Donnie,
- 16:52Speaker 6: am got bumped.
- 16:53Speaker 1: We'll go back to the line to shoot too. I
- 16:56Speaker 1: love how Sophie puts her hand in her chest. Oh
- 16:58Speaker 1: oh oh, I'm so sorry. But that cameraman. I don't
- 17:02Speaker 1: know if he's exemplifying outstanding professionalism or if he's just like,
- 17:09Speaker 1: whatever I do, don't move, don't say a word, because
- 17:12Speaker 1: if I do, she may get up faster.
- 17:15Speaker 5: Now that cameraman's going. I have covered some of the
- 17:18Speaker 5: shittiest basketball for a while, and I finally got rewarded
- 17:24Speaker 5: for my toils.
- 17:27Speaker 3: A slim dunk for all those layups.
- 17:32Speaker 1: I've been sitting on my ass court side for countless
- 17:35Speaker 1: basketball games, and this is the greatest moment of my career.
- 17:42Speaker 1: The only thing better would have been if he had
- 17:44Speaker 1: said no, no, no, come back.
- 17:48Speaker 5: Only anything better if he had grabbed her hips and go, oh, you're.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Not moving your mind.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Now, I'm sure her wife would be pissed.
- 17:58Speaker 1: She's great, okay, and he gets to say if it sits,
- 18:04Speaker 1: it fits. I know it's supposed to go the other
- 18:06Speaker 1: way around. But whatever.
- 18:09Speaker 5: Well, hopefully there was there wasn't an over under on
- 18:13Speaker 5: faces set for her, because you know, then she's gonna
- 18:15Speaker 5: get suspended.
- 18:22Speaker 1: I'm going to assume this has something to do with
- 18:24Speaker 1: the NBA bettings gandle Oh my god, have I only
- 18:27Speaker 1: I only saw a brief headline yesterday that said there's
- 18:30Speaker 1: another NBA bettings gandal. I'm like, well, I'm not shocked.
- 18:34Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, no, I mean, but I mean some of it.
- 18:37Speaker 5: There's two aspects to it that are just the the
- 18:41Speaker 5: game stuff is because NBA really is probably the only
- 18:44Speaker 5: sport you can an individual can affect the game, but
- 18:47Speaker 5: especially now that there are individual prop bets. So I
- 18:51Speaker 5: forgot the player's name, but you know, there's one guy,
- 18:53Speaker 5: all of a sudden, there's a big bump in his activity,
- 18:56Speaker 5: like and it's all the under Oh, he'll score less
- 18:58Speaker 5: than nine points, he'll do less than you know this
- 19:01Speaker 5: many rebounds, and like ten minutes into the game, he
- 19:03Speaker 5: just takes himself out of Oh, I'm hurt.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Yeah, man, I can do that.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I tell you, I could go into an NBA
- 19:12Speaker 1: game and I will get the under on everything.
- 19:15Speaker 3: You know.
- 19:15Speaker 5: It's like I think it's Chauncey Billups and then I
- 19:18Speaker 5: mean there were there are a few names that you
- 19:20Speaker 5: know of a players and coaches. But probably the more
- 19:24Speaker 5: fascinating part about it is this poker angle that these
- 19:27Speaker 5: NBA players were having these high stake poker games backed
- 19:32Speaker 5: by four out of the five crime families of New York. Oh,
- 19:37Speaker 5: but they're they're using technology like X ray tables and
- 19:43Speaker 5: cards that have infrared sensors, contact lenses that are are
- 19:48Speaker 5: can see the infrared cards. This technology where they basically
- 19:52Speaker 5: as they're shuffling, it knows what order the cards are
- 19:56Speaker 5: in and how they're going to be dealt. So it
- 19:58Speaker 5: gives these somebody an ear piece in and it would
- 20:01Speaker 5: give you like one beat, two beat, four beat, whatever,
- 20:04Speaker 5: and that was the hand that's gonna win.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Okay. So while robbing the Louver seems to be much
- 20:12Speaker 1: easier than we all thought, trying to rip off Vegas
- 20:15Speaker 1: or Atlantic City still quite difficult.
- 20:17Speaker 5: This isn't well, some of this the point point spread
- 20:21Speaker 5: stuff actually No, it's just finding players to do it.
- 20:24Speaker 1: It's it's not the poker stuff in the technolog Yeah.
- 20:27Speaker 5: The poker stuff. So these were all private games. This
- 20:30Speaker 5: wasn't at a casino or anything else. These were And
- 20:33Speaker 5: like when I say high stake, I think one guy
- 20:35Speaker 5: lost one point eight million and one in one night.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Yeah, Chauncey Billups. One hand was fifty grand he won.
- 20:43Speaker 5: But like it's mind boggling that, you know, give it
- 20:49Speaker 5: to the crime family. They're they're gonna figure out a
- 20:52Speaker 5: way to rob rob their once. You know, they're mad
- 20:56Speaker 5: that they got rid of all the casinos, so now
- 20:58Speaker 5: they're gonna rob them.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Yeah. It is fascinating though, that you've got so much
- 21:07Speaker 1: betting now is in sports, and a story like this
- 21:11Speaker 1: is everything that allegedly at league levels NBA, NFL, MLB
- 21:19Speaker 1: have wanted to avoid any appearance, any possibility of an
- 21:23Speaker 1: open door for impropriety. But now you've got the actual
- 21:27Speaker 1: networks like ESPN jumping into the betting foray with ESPN
- 21:33Speaker 1: bet creative name by the way, because I guess the
- 21:38Speaker 1: rest of the world is like, look, it's happening. People
- 21:40Speaker 1: are gambling anyway, we might as well, you know, sink
- 21:44Speaker 1: our teeth into it to try to get a piece
- 21:46Speaker 1: of that pie. And now this happens, and I'm not shocked.
- 21:49Speaker 5: No, And who's the league that's been on the vanguard
- 21:53Speaker 5: of this stuff.
- 21:54Speaker 3: It's the NBA.
- 21:55Speaker 5: They're in they've gotten in bed with the gambling companies.
- 21:59Speaker 5: But that's the one of all the sports, the NBA
- 22:03Speaker 5: is the one sport where you can really you could
- 22:09Speaker 5: fix an outcome mm hmm, especially now that with the
- 22:13Speaker 5: individual prop bets. Yeah, but all I mean, and this
- 22:16Speaker 5: goes back, I mean, I forgot which one. You know
- 22:18Speaker 5: it happened in college you know college basketball, where you
- 22:22Speaker 5: know they were paying a couple guys, and a lot
- 22:25Speaker 5: of times it's not so much throwing. You know, there's
- 22:27Speaker 5: a point spread. So let's say, you know, if the
- 22:30Speaker 5: other team is plus seven, oh, you know, you miss
- 22:33Speaker 5: a free throw or you miss a layup, and you
- 22:35Speaker 5: know you only win by five.
- 22:38Speaker 1: And there's always these there's always these conspiracy theories flying
- 22:42Speaker 1: around with some of these games. And this is really
- 22:46Speaker 1: true that, like people say with the NFL all the time,
- 22:48Speaker 1: but it's really hard to do with the NFL where
- 22:50Speaker 1: they'll be like, okay, the over under is this and
- 22:52Speaker 1: then mysteriously or magically there's a penalty called It's like
- 22:57Speaker 1: I said, it's conspiracy theory stuff, especially on the NFL.
- 23:00Speaker 5: Also, and this goes back whether it is you know,
- 23:03Speaker 5: Vegas now hires mi I T level mathematicians. And but
- 23:09Speaker 5: going back to you know, Roxy Roxbury of you know,
- 23:12Speaker 5: these guys were savants when it came to making point spreads.
- 23:18Speaker 5: And in the NFL now especially you you almost are
- 23:22Speaker 5: guaranteed a trash time touchdown mm hmm. And that'll a
- 23:26Speaker 5: lot of times put you you know, over under you
- 23:30Speaker 5: know whatever you know with the spread.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it's those trash time touchdowns that'll change the over
- 23:36Speaker 1: and under whatever one thought was going to happen. They
- 23:39Speaker 1: thought it was locked in, it wasn't because garbage time touchdown. Uh.
- 23:45Speaker 1: And then the same thing with the point spread. It's
- 23:47Speaker 1: like I'm gonna cover I had I had the Buccaneers
- 23:51Speaker 1: plus seven, I'm gonna cover. Oh no, you got too
- 23:55Speaker 1: excited too early.
- 23:59Speaker 5: But yeah, well, I mean because like you said, in football,
- 24:03Speaker 5: it's really hard.
- 24:05Speaker 3: To mess with.
- 24:06Speaker 5: I mean, I guess if with individual prop bets, if
- 24:08Speaker 5: you had let's say a receiver and they just dropped
- 24:11Speaker 5: the pass.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe, but there's a good chance.
- 24:14Speaker 1: To explain a lot of seed lambs drops because because
- 24:19Speaker 1: he'll make a really difficult catch and then he'll be like,
- 24:21Speaker 1: just oh, where did it go? Like on the easy ones,
- 24:23Speaker 1: it's like okay, now I'm now I'm suspicious.
- 24:26Speaker 5: But with the NBA, there's just so many ways you
- 24:30Speaker 5: could do it, and that that was always the fear.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Yeah, well it's back again.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's it's gonna.
- 24:41Speaker 5: It'll be curious how they deal with this, right.
- 24:47Speaker 4: I mean arrests were made. I'm assuming everybody's posted their
- 24:50Speaker 4: bonds and they're out. But like you were saying, it's
- 24:53Speaker 4: four out of the five, it just reminds me of
- 24:55Speaker 4: tried it, Like four out of five Montfield families h
- 25:00Speaker 4: support basketball gambling.
- 25:02Speaker 5: Well after the fifth one is like another one? Why
- 25:07Speaker 5: didn't you call us?
- 25:07Speaker 3: What? What? What? What?
- 25:09Speaker 5: We're not good enough for you?
- 25:13Speaker 1: I smell a rat. I think what happened was the
- 25:15Speaker 1: fifth family found out they weren't involved, they were not
- 25:18Speaker 1: included in this lucrative situation, and they said, hello, FBI.
- 25:26Speaker 4: No, they would just have to say that out loud
- 25:27Speaker 4: because their house is bugged.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you're right.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Why am I even trying to like mind it out
- 25:32Speaker 1: with my hands or anything like hey I got or
- 25:37Speaker 1: just walk out to the van be like hey, I
- 25:39Speaker 1: got a tip for it. Which, by the way, if
- 25:47Speaker 1: if you are an FBI surveillance van, isn't it your
- 25:50Speaker 1: responsibility to name your own network FBI surveillance van because
- 25:56Speaker 1: people wouldn't expect you to do that these days on
- 25:58Speaker 1: the Wi Fi things.
- 26:01Speaker 3: The wife flies gotcha.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Like the mafia. They they're looking down on the available
- 26:07Speaker 1: networks in their area, like, oh, this one says f
- 26:10Speaker 1: FBI surveillance man. Ah, that's just a joke.
- 26:12Speaker 3: One.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Why does it say no really after it?
- 26:16Speaker 3: Seriously?
- 26:16Speaker 1: Outside confessed four crimes?
- 26:22Speaker 5: Why is it named Fredo?
