- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:08Speaker 1: covering one piece episodes seven twenty three through seven twenty five.
- 0:15Speaker 1: A collision of hockey Loofy versus Dove Flamingo Unassailable, the
- 0:22Speaker 1: stunning secret of Treble, and anger rerrupts. I will take
- 0:28Speaker 1: everything upon myself in these episodes. So we're not done
- 0:36Speaker 1: with Do Flamingo. It's uh. I really thought I really
- 0:42Speaker 1: thought maybe we were finally done with Doe Flamingo. We're
- 0:47Speaker 1: not kids, honestly, can we be? I feel like I'm
- 0:56Speaker 1: sort of over him now now it's getting excessive. Welcome
- 1:02Speaker 1: to spoil Me. Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Thank you very much to Michael for commissioning this episode. Yeah, this, guys,
- 1:31Speaker 1: this was one of those I really really did find
- 1:38Speaker 1: interesting the backstory on Dofla Mingo. So when I say
- 1:42Speaker 1: that I'm kind of like over this guy, I don't
- 1:45Speaker 1: even necessarily mean like the whole character has to go away,
- 1:49Speaker 1: because I thought that was a compelling story beat that
- 1:53Speaker 1: I wasn't expecting. But I am a little bit over
- 2:02Speaker 1: everybody fighting him on the roof and then it looking
- 2:06Speaker 1: like he's down, and then oh, he's not down, and
- 2:08Speaker 1: now we're fighting on the roof more and it looks
- 2:11Speaker 1: like he's down, and oh, he's not down, so we're
- 2:13Speaker 1: going to fight him on the roof some more. You
- 2:15Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. It just starts to get a
- 2:20Speaker 1: bit endless feeling. Maybe if we mixed up the location even,
- 2:30Speaker 1: maybe that would do something where if we weren't just
- 2:34Speaker 1: on this one rooftop, maybe if we went somewhere else
- 2:37Speaker 1: it would help. But I just feel like we are
- 2:41Speaker 1: frozen here in a way that like the other story
- 2:47Speaker 1: beats when we go away learn about Do Flamingo and
- 2:52Speaker 1: I am compelled. We then come back and I'm like,
- 2:57Speaker 1: oh yeah, but we're still just like here still, you
- 3:00Speaker 1: know what I mean, Where I had a definite moment
- 3:02Speaker 1: of being like this is interesting, and then returning to
- 3:06Speaker 1: the President, I'm just like wompomp. So let's talk about
- 3:11Speaker 1: the first of these three episodes, a collision of hockey
- 3:15Speaker 1: Lufy versus Do Flamingo. So this is like a real
- 3:22Speaker 1: a good example. I think of times when this show
- 3:26Speaker 1: is drawing things out poorly, And my issue here is that,
- 3:33Speaker 1: like you know, a collision of hockey, this is treated
- 3:37Speaker 1: as a very big deal, the two of them both
- 3:41Speaker 1: being able to wield hockey by trouble. I should. I should.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Everything that I am talking about regarding like reaction to
- 3:50Speaker 1: this is all trouble because obviously it seems like Law
- 3:56Speaker 1: knows what Lufi is capable of, and I am not positive,
- 4:00Speaker 1: but I don't really feel like Do Flamingo is very
- 4:02Speaker 1: surprised that Lufy can wield hockey either. I think he
- 4:06Speaker 1: knew that. So it's just trouble that seems to be
- 4:10Speaker 1: truly like flabbergasted. And it's this sort of fight that
- 4:18Speaker 1: I start to find rather tiresome because it's just, let's
- 4:24Speaker 1: like punch at things and then our fists collide, and
- 4:29Speaker 1: then there's this, you know, big moment, and now we're
- 4:31Speaker 1: back to just fighting, and then probably we're gonna collide
- 4:35Speaker 1: with each other again. It's just lots of punch over,
- 4:42Speaker 1: dramatic reaction, short monologue from Do Flamingo, and punch again.
- 4:49Speaker 1: So this overall was like this part of the fight.
- 4:55Speaker 1: The thing that worked for me the best was the
- 4:59Speaker 1: fact that Dove Flamingo is actually able to get himself
- 5:03Speaker 1: back up again despite everything that Law thought. It turns
- 5:08Speaker 1: out Do Flamingo can use this like thread power to
- 5:17Speaker 1: He is careful to say, at least in the dub,
- 5:21Speaker 1: it's not exactly healing, but that he does stitch together
- 5:26Speaker 1: his internal organs so that they will work a little
- 5:31Speaker 1: bit longer. I think that this is sort of interesting
- 5:34Speaker 1: in terms of whether or not it's how long can
- 5:43Speaker 1: he keep going with this kind of borrowed time. That's
- 5:48Speaker 1: my big question, because where I'm sitting here, it feels
- 5:52Speaker 1: like he can't probably go on for that much longer.
- 5:57Speaker 1: But this is going to make him all the more
- 6:00Speaker 1: desperate for the power that Law has, which is that
- 6:06Speaker 1: like a sacrifice yourself and I get to live forever power.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I don't remember if there's like a specific name for that.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I feel like there was, like the immortality operation or something,
- 6:20Speaker 1: but that's that's the one thing that I was sort
- 6:23Speaker 1: of like. When Do Flamingo gets back up, A big
- 6:29Speaker 1: part of me was definitely like, oh Jesus Christ, you
- 6:33Speaker 1: gotta be kidding me. But I also when he explains
- 6:39Speaker 1: how he's doing it, I found my irritation sort of
- 6:43Speaker 1: diminishing because I really enjoy the creative ways that Oda
- 6:50Speaker 1: has found to use this weird power. I always like
- 6:56Speaker 1: this particular power is one of those that I feel like,
- 7:01Speaker 1: if you are a person who lacks a certain amount
- 7:05Speaker 1: of if your imagination, I guess, is really the main word,
- 7:13Speaker 1: you could mistakenly think that it's this sort of nothing.
- 7:17Speaker 1: And oh Seraphim is saying the fact that it's called
- 7:23Speaker 1: eternal youth surgery implies it doesn't do anything against physical damage,
- 7:27Speaker 1: just prevents you from aging. He's needed Manchurie to actually
- 7:30Speaker 1: heal himself. I keep forgetting about Manchurie. Yeah, yeah, you're right.
- 7:35Speaker 1: She's uh really proving to be like kind of an
- 7:38Speaker 1: important factor for somebody who got added in so late
- 7:42Speaker 1: in the game. But it's fine. But what I was
- 7:48Speaker 1: going to mention is this book series that I got
- 7:50Speaker 1: commissioned to cover by I believe it was Dan for
- 7:53Speaker 1: spoil Me, and it is called mage Errant. I recommend it.
- 7:59Speaker 1: It's based like somebody decided that after reading Harry Potter
- 8:04Speaker 1: that could have been better, and they went and like
- 8:06Speaker 1: rewrote it better. Not really really, but it's clear there's
- 8:11Speaker 1: a lot of inspiration there and he just went harder
- 8:13Speaker 1: on a lot of aspects of it. And the way
- 8:17Speaker 1: magic works in that universe is that people get affinities
- 8:20Speaker 1: for certain types of matter, and that becomes how they
- 8:26Speaker 1: use their magic, either in combat or there are actual
- 8:30Speaker 1: literal shit mages in that book series who are really
- 8:34Speaker 1: wealthy because they are in charge of all of the
- 8:37Speaker 1: plumbing and stuff that happens in the cities, and they're
- 8:42Speaker 1: basically indispensable, so they are all fucking rolling in it,
- 8:47Speaker 1: literally and figuratively. And there is somebody who has a
- 8:51Speaker 1: paper affinity and it gets dismissed early in the series,
- 8:57Speaker 1: like somebody brings up like, oh, you'll probably wind up
- 8:59Speaker 1: with a fucking paper affinity, you loser. And I remember
- 9:02Speaker 1: like at the time when I first read it, being like,
- 9:06Speaker 1: I don't know, man, a paper affinity seems like it
- 9:09Speaker 1: could be real fucking useful, and like probably you could
- 9:14Speaker 1: make it pretty dangerous if you wanted to. Also, like
- 9:18Speaker 1: I was sort of surprised how immediately this person just
- 9:22Speaker 1: sort of waved it off. And then later on in
- 9:25Speaker 1: the series, one of the most powerful fighters has a
- 9:31Speaker 1: paper affinity and uses it in ways that are wild
- 9:35Speaker 1: and really interesting. And that is what De Flamingo's thread
- 9:42Speaker 1: power reminds me of. It's just the sort of thing
- 9:45Speaker 1: that like you could you could kind of get basic
- 9:49Speaker 1: with it, and that would also be interesting depending on
- 9:51Speaker 1: the context. But the manners in which he has been
- 9:57Speaker 1: able to like, it's not it's just the ability itself.
- 10:01Speaker 1: It's the scale of it that he has been able
- 10:04Speaker 1: to manifest that I think is really the thing, because
- 10:07Speaker 1: there are a lot of people with a lot of
- 10:09Speaker 1: powers out there that I don't think we have necessarily
- 10:11Speaker 1: gotten to see do things that like as big as
- 10:15Speaker 1: what he's doing. This whole birdcage thing around the entire island.
- 10:22Speaker 1: I mean, let's think back to mister three and his
- 10:25Speaker 1: wax power, and I cannot see mister three being able
- 10:30Speaker 1: to make a cage out of wax that covers this
- 10:34Speaker 1: entire island. I just don't see it. I don't think
- 10:37Speaker 1: it would happen. And I don't know if that is
- 10:41Speaker 1: something that he could learn to do, if he could
- 10:43Speaker 1: grow and expand his ability and eventually get to the
- 10:46Speaker 1: point where he could do things on that scale, or
- 10:49Speaker 1: if it's the sort of thing that like you got
- 10:51Speaker 1: it or you don't got it, and you don't got it,
- 10:55Speaker 1: you know, maybe that's part of the whole thing with
- 10:57Speaker 1: do Flamingo. I want to Saraphim says Oda is great
- 11:04Speaker 1: at getting creative with seemingly simple powers, but it's still
- 11:06Speaker 1: nothing compared to JoJo's, which I have not seen or read.
- 11:12Speaker 1: I I really do want to talk about the reveal
- 11:17Speaker 1: with Do Flamingo a little bit, though I know that
- 11:20Speaker 1: I'm kind of going out of order, But honestly, guys,
- 11:23Speaker 1: not a whole lot really happens except for that reveal
- 11:30Speaker 1: and Do Flamingo coming back to himself, and then we
- 11:34Speaker 1: eventually have like the fight with Treble, which is interesting,
- 11:37Speaker 1: but I feel like it is better to talk about
- 11:39Speaker 1: that after the Do Flamingo reveal. Now, I'm not entirely
- 11:47Speaker 1: sure how all of this comes to pass. That's the
- 11:52Speaker 1: only thing about this storytelling that feels a little bit
- 11:55Speaker 1: wonky is that we are getting, uh, We're getting choppy
- 12:04Speaker 1: versions of things without a lot of transitional work. So
- 12:12Speaker 1: eventually that moment where Do Flamingo and his father and
- 12:17Speaker 1: brother are all like strung up on the battlements. We
- 12:23Speaker 1: had seen that moment before, but we never got the
- 12:27Speaker 1: next moment, which we find out in these is Do
- 12:30Speaker 1: Flamingo screaming at everybody using hockey unintentionally and getting the
- 12:36Speaker 1: entire crowd to pass out and when he's talking to Treble,
- 12:44Speaker 1: he apparently has told Treuble about this. Now, guys, correct
- 12:51Speaker 1: me if I'm wrong, Sarah, fam I know they're you know,
- 12:54Speaker 1: often on it when I'm missing points. Do we find
- 12:59Speaker 1: out exactly how Trouble finds Do Flamingo. Do we know
- 13:06Speaker 1: how he tracks him down specifically, because we just sort
- 13:11Speaker 1: of see him talking to Dophie after things have happened,
- 13:14Speaker 1: and Do Flamingo explaining to him what he did without
- 13:18Speaker 1: understanding the significance of what he did, and Trouble being
- 13:24Speaker 1: very gleeful because he knows what this means and even
- 13:28Speaker 1: posits that there's like additional meaning to it. And it's
- 13:32Speaker 1: a kind of a surprising transition to me because it's
- 13:38Speaker 1: almost like Trouble was just traveling around and ran into
- 13:41Speaker 1: this fucking bloodthirsty kid and was just like, oh nice.
- 13:45Speaker 1: But I can't tell if it's like of significance how
- 13:50Speaker 1: he found him or not. The thing that was interesting
- 13:55Speaker 1: to me is that everybody who is part of the
- 14:02Speaker 1: Do Flamingo family, they are all in on Daphie's behalf,
- 14:16Speaker 1: even though he is a child from the very start.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Now I'm a little unclear on whether Okay, So Seraphim says,
- 14:25Speaker 1: I don't recall off the top of my head, the
- 14:27Speaker 1: impression I got was Trouble was a small time crime
- 14:29Speaker 1: boss in town who heard about Dophie, and that's that's
- 14:31Speaker 1: what I thought as well. I just did sort of
- 14:33Speaker 1: miss that. We don't see the instant that he is
- 14:37Speaker 1: looking for him. Florian says, we don't see it. I
- 14:39Speaker 1: always thought Trouble was looking at the execution and then
- 14:43Speaker 1: Dophie did what he did. Interesting. Okay, so we've got
- 14:48Speaker 1: very different interpretations of this. I don't like I said,
- 14:51Speaker 1: I don't know if this is even significant or not,
- 14:54Speaker 1: but it it the way that Trouble behaves, and I
- 15:02Speaker 1: am this is purely inventioned. I acknowledge that, and I
- 15:06Speaker 1: am fine with it. But I do want to say
- 15:08Speaker 1: you guys that I kind of like this idea for
- 15:13Speaker 1: my own reasons of just being into this sort of
- 15:19Speaker 1: personality aspect. So there is a point where Trouble is
- 15:26Speaker 1: talking to Dophie and is like, Wow, you were able
- 15:30Speaker 1: to do that even as a little guy, and there
- 15:36Speaker 1: is something really special about you. The fact that you
- 15:41Speaker 1: have hockey means that you have been chosen by Heaven
- 15:45Speaker 1: and fair enough, Like even when Lufy has used hockey,
- 15:50Speaker 1: it wasn't he wasn't this young. You know, I can
- 15:52Speaker 1: understand meeting somebody as tiny as Do Flamingo who can
- 15:57Speaker 1: already do this on this level and being like, uh,
- 15:59Speaker 1: that is something. I don't know if Do Flamingo's relationship
- 16:08Speaker 1: to the celestial Dragons plays into this at all, but
- 16:11Speaker 1: I have to imagine that it does. I can't like
- 16:15Speaker 1: even though he himself has decided that he is not
- 16:19Speaker 1: part of that. Here's so my head canon is Treble
- 16:27Speaker 1: is a superstitious guy who has a weird grudging respect
- 16:33Speaker 1: for the celestial dragons, and he comes against this kid.
- 16:42Speaker 1: He already himself has been sort of thinking like we
- 16:45Speaker 1: need somebody to help us all band together and seize power,
- 16:50Speaker 1: and this kid like just rolls into his path, and
- 16:55Speaker 1: Treble is like, oh my god, he's the one. And
- 16:58Speaker 1: there's not necessary like a religious aspect to it or anything,
- 17:02Speaker 1: but there is a sort of sense for me in
- 17:05Speaker 1: this head canon that Treble sees Do Flamingo genuinely as
- 17:12Speaker 1: somebody who is like touched by God, the gods, whatever,
- 17:18Speaker 1: and that there was something in him already looking for
- 17:22Speaker 1: meaning in things and so when Dophie shows up, he's
- 17:25Speaker 1: just like perfect. This is just all really different than
- 17:30Speaker 1: what I was thinking, because I expected Do Flamingo to
- 17:35Speaker 1: be like going out into the world alone as a
- 17:37Speaker 1: kid and just managing to like become part of a
- 17:43Speaker 1: crime group and slowly take it over as he got
- 17:46Speaker 1: older and stronger and basically working his way up to
- 17:50Speaker 1: being on top. And once he is on top of
- 17:53Speaker 1: this you know, crime family, he runs into treuble in
- 17:59Speaker 1: some other place after already being established, and that he
- 18:07Speaker 1: would be able to appeal to somebody who already has
- 18:10Speaker 1: power and who is older because he himself is in
- 18:14Speaker 1: place already he is established. And to find out that
- 18:21Speaker 1: it's no such thing. Actually, it's we saw you as
- 18:28Speaker 1: a kid, and we helped you get where you are
- 18:32Speaker 1: because we believed in you from when you were so young.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Is wild. Like it just puts a whole different context
- 18:42Speaker 1: on everything. And it's so it's like I I and
- 18:50Speaker 1: like I said, I really like it. But it's so
- 18:53Speaker 1: funny because the whole thing with like what was toxic
- 18:59Speaker 1: about dol Flamingo to begin with was being raised believing
- 19:04Speaker 1: that he is better than everybody else as a celestial
- 19:07Speaker 1: dragon and then he just falls into the way of
- 19:11Speaker 1: some other people who are also teaching him you are
- 19:16Speaker 1: just better than everybody else, but for different reasons, like
- 19:19Speaker 1: in a different way. And honestly, I really can't help
- 19:25Speaker 1: but feel like dol Flamino never stood a chance at
- 19:28Speaker 1: being like a normal fucking guy because everybody he meets
- 19:32Speaker 1: anywhere is just like sending him this extremely gross messaging
- 19:39Speaker 1: about how all other people are just beneath him, and
- 19:46Speaker 1: it's so upsetting in a way as a viewer to
- 19:50Speaker 1: see him, Like, look, the kid wanted to kill his
- 20:00Speaker 1: dad already, Okay, I fully believe this. I do not
- 20:03Speaker 1: believe Trouble is responsible for Dol Flamingo's father's death for
- 20:08Speaker 1: giving this kid a gun, because Dolpla Mingo was not okay,
- 20:12Speaker 1: and I think he would have found a way to
- 20:14Speaker 1: kill his dad. I think he would have been given
- 20:16Speaker 1: a gun made it easier. And I'm not saying Trouble
- 20:19Speaker 1: has no responsibility for arming a child, because of course,
- 20:23Speaker 1: but what I'm saying is the gun just like expedited things,
- 20:31Speaker 1: and I feel like he would have done it in
- 20:33Speaker 1: some way anyhow. That said, finding out that Treble is
- 20:43Speaker 1: the one who gave him the gun was also a shock.
- 20:48Speaker 1: I feel like this really betrays how American I am.
- 20:54Speaker 1: But I gotta tell you guys that when I saw
- 21:00Speaker 1: him getting the gun from Treble, I realized that I
- 21:03Speaker 1: had never even questioned where this child got a gun from,
- 21:07Speaker 1: never even asked, because I just figured you can just
- 21:11Speaker 1: get one because that's how guns are. And like I said,
- 21:17Speaker 1: I feel like that's just uniquely American to have this
- 21:19Speaker 1: reaction and not really think about it too much. But
- 21:22Speaker 1: maybe not. Maybe other people also didn't question it, so
- 21:26Speaker 1: do Flamingo Like Treble, it very much wanted him to
- 21:34Speaker 1: kill his dad, wanted him to be isolated from him.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Is really like the impression that I get. There's a
- 21:45Speaker 1: a real sort of weird energy to it, because in
- 21:51Speaker 1: a lot of storylines, there is this thing with like, yeah,
- 21:53Speaker 1: you can be part of my crew as long as
- 21:56Speaker 1: you prove yourself by killing or screwing over somebody that
- 22:04Speaker 1: means something to you. And this is a means of
- 22:06Speaker 1: not only you proving that you're willing to go that
- 22:10Speaker 1: extra mile, but also doing something unforgivable to a person
- 22:14Speaker 1: that cares about you and making you feel so guilty
- 22:17Speaker 1: that you don't want to be around them the same way,
- 22:21Speaker 1: and this isolates you and makes you a better fit,
- 22:24Speaker 1: oftentimes for a gang, because the point is that you
- 22:27Speaker 1: have nobody but each other. And in those scenarios, usually
- 22:37Speaker 1: it's this evil crime lord watching this person who hasn't
- 22:41Speaker 1: yet started down their dark path, zeroing in on somebody
- 22:46Speaker 1: who really means something to that kid, and eventually extending
- 22:52Speaker 1: this like offer, and it being really traumatic for the
- 22:59Speaker 1: kid who goes through with it, and it is almost funny,
- 23:04Speaker 1: how like not the case. This is what this feels
- 23:09Speaker 1: like is I know that you want to kill your
- 23:14Speaker 1: dad already. I'm going to give you a present and
- 23:19Speaker 1: show you how fine with that I am. And in
- 23:23Speaker 1: doing that, the one person who is any sort of
- 23:27Speaker 1: force for good in your life is got rid of
- 23:31Speaker 1: It's just you and your brother children, who I can
- 23:33Speaker 1: easily manipulate, and I'll have you all to myself for
- 23:38Speaker 1: my weird idea about making you into some sort of
- 23:42Speaker 1: like demigod. And it doesn't take anything to get duffe
- 23:47Speaker 1: Leminget to do it. Just put the gun in his
- 23:49Speaker 1: hand and he immediately knows what he wants to do,
- 23:52Speaker 1: and there's no trauma associated with it for for Corassone,
- 23:57Speaker 1: there is obviously there's no sense of any guilt coming
- 24:03Speaker 1: off of Do Flamingo at all at any point from
- 24:06Speaker 1: a child to now. And it's just really funny because
- 24:12Speaker 1: this is something that would happen in a different story
- 24:15Speaker 1: and have a whole different tone and be a really
- 24:19Speaker 1: different objective, and here it feels like, no, no, no,
- 24:25Speaker 1: this isn't about a kid that was like, could have
- 24:28Speaker 1: been a good kid but was on the wrong path.
- 24:31Speaker 1: This is a story about a kid who was fucked
- 24:35Speaker 1: up and psyche though from birth, and somebody else discovered
- 24:41Speaker 1: him and was like, oh my god, oh my god,
- 24:43Speaker 1: look at him. He's perfect, He's still he's fucking fucked up,
- 24:46Speaker 1: and saygo from birth. This is exactly what I wanted.
- 24:50Speaker 1: And it's just I just wasn't expecting it. I really
- 24:55Speaker 1: thought we were going to see a story about Do
- 24:57Speaker 1: Flamingo managing to like law his way up because of
- 25:06Speaker 1: his ruthlessness and his power, and you know, just this
- 25:10Speaker 1: sense of entitlement that sometimes can weirdly trick other people
- 25:15Speaker 1: into thinking that you do deserve what you have if
- 25:18Speaker 1: you behave as if you do, they believe it also,
- 25:21Speaker 1: and instead seeing that it was all very much fostered
- 25:26Speaker 1: in him. This instinct that he is better than others,
- 25:29Speaker 1: that he is meant for more is something that was
- 25:33Speaker 1: spotted and nurtured, and we get to see this absolutely
- 25:39Speaker 1: wild montage where it's Do Flamingo like having He first
- 25:47Speaker 1: gets beaten up by some guy who's fucking with him,
- 25:51Speaker 1: and one of the other pirates is like, I think
- 25:53Speaker 1: it's Demonte's like, hey, which one was it? He points
- 25:55Speaker 1: them out guys like are you the one that was
- 25:57Speaker 1: fucking with Do Flamingo? Guys like yeah, whatever, I was
- 26:00Speaker 1: just teasing him, and this dude shoots him in the
- 26:02Speaker 1: head immediately, like it's so abrupt it genuinely shocked me.
- 26:07Speaker 1: I knew that they were going to fuck this guy up,
- 26:09Speaker 1: but I thought that it would take a tiny bit
- 26:11Speaker 1: more time, that there would be a little bit more
- 26:13Speaker 1: toying with him or something. And it's not. It's just like, oh,
- 26:17Speaker 1: it's you click done. And then later on he shows
- 26:21Speaker 1: up and he has another injury and Dianmonte is like,
- 26:24Speaker 1: is that somebody else fucking with you? And he says, no,
- 26:27Speaker 1: it was just that I tripped on a crack in
- 26:29Speaker 1: the sidewalk and Deianmante's like show me where it was,
- 26:33Speaker 1: what town was it in, and they like take out
- 26:35Speaker 1: half the town because of him tripping on this piece
- 26:39Speaker 1: of sidewalk. Honestly, it's pretty great, like deeply horrible. But
- 26:51Speaker 1: I think it's just that in my heart of hearts,
- 26:57Speaker 1: there's a part of me that wants to have people
- 27:00Speaker 1: this ride or die that is jealous somebody being like,
- 27:06Speaker 1: you tripped over a thing in the sidewalk, I'm gonna
- 27:08Speaker 1: fuck that sidewalk and everybody responsible for that sidewalk right
- 27:11Speaker 1: up for you, because fuck all of them. It's not
- 27:16Speaker 1: a good impulse. It's not healthy, it's not reasonable. But
- 27:19Speaker 1: there is a part of it that I'm just sort
- 27:20Speaker 1: of like, that's that must be nice to really feel
- 27:24Speaker 1: like these people are like so solidly in your corner.
- 27:27Speaker 1: It must really feel comforting. And it is interesting because
- 27:36Speaker 1: like Trafalgar keeps saying, you're just a clown. You don't
- 27:42Speaker 1: matter to him. He's using you to get what he wants.
- 27:45Speaker 1: All of you are just tools and pawns, and Trouble
- 27:51Speaker 1: gets like really upset, and at first I thought it
- 27:55Speaker 1: was purely pride or maybe even like the feeling of
- 27:59Speaker 1: him getting a little too close to the truth on
- 28:02Speaker 1: it or I don't know, you know, but after seeing
- 28:07Speaker 1: this flashback and how he's like instrumental to do Flamingo
- 28:15Speaker 1: becoming what he is, I kind of get why Trouble
- 28:20Speaker 1: got so angry at that insinuation, because it's not like
- 28:23Speaker 1: he's just some dude who do Flamingo met eventually on
- 28:27Speaker 1: his like journeys and decided to make use of He's
- 28:30Speaker 1: the one who discovered Dophie and gave him what he
- 28:34Speaker 1: needed to become who he is. And I I can't
- 28:44Speaker 1: decide if Trafalgar Law is right or not, because my
- 28:51Speaker 1: instinct is to say that he is right because I
- 28:55Speaker 1: want that to be true. I want dof Go to
- 29:00Speaker 1: not give a fuck about any of these people or
- 29:02Speaker 1: anyone but himself, because I want that ease in the story.
- 29:12Speaker 1: I think, though, that that's not right. I kind of
- 29:18Speaker 1: think these people do mean something to him, and that
- 29:22Speaker 1: the sort of cavalier attitude that he has had toward
- 29:26Speaker 1: whether or not they're going to be okay is really
- 29:29Speaker 1: just based in the fact that they have been okay always.
- 29:32Speaker 1: They've always managed to get through. He hasn't lost anybody
- 29:36Speaker 1: in a long time, so I'm starting to wonder if
- 29:43Speaker 1: because he may feel that he owes them something. And
- 29:47Speaker 1: this is really the question. Does he feel like he
- 29:51Speaker 1: owes them something? I just don't know. It could be
- 29:56Speaker 1: that he doesn't. He feels that he was entitled to
- 29:58Speaker 1: everything and they were just people who gave him what
- 30:02Speaker 1: he deserved and it has nothing to you know what
- 30:04Speaker 1: I mean. Or it could be that he feels like
- 30:10Speaker 1: they are his real family. So I think he cares.
- 30:15Speaker 1: I think he really sees them as family, and I
- 30:20Speaker 1: think that when he says that he didn't want to
- 30:24Speaker 1: kill Kora, I do think he means it. Not that
- 30:29Speaker 1: he would have made any other choice, because I just
- 30:31Speaker 1: think that's a four zone conclusion. But what I mean
- 30:33Speaker 1: is just I think it probably broke his heart when
- 30:38Speaker 1: he thought Cora was like the last of his family
- 30:41Speaker 1: but still truly on his side. To find out that, like,
- 30:44Speaker 1: not only is he not really on your side, but
- 30:46Speaker 1: he's actively working against you with your mortal enemies. Yeah,
- 30:53Speaker 1: I could see that being actually quite hurtful, because I'll
- 30:57Speaker 1: be honest, the whole monologue that he gives about how
- 31:00Speaker 1: oh Cora has betrayed him when they finally face off
- 31:06Speaker 1: against one another. At the time, I found kind of
- 31:10Speaker 1: boring because I wasn't really believing that Dophie felt any
- 31:15Speaker 1: particular way about this. There was a big part of
- 31:18Speaker 1: me that thought, he just doesn't give a shit about anybody,
- 31:23Speaker 1: and he's not going to give much of a shit
- 31:25Speaker 1: about this, And now I'm sort of realizing that. Like,
- 31:30Speaker 1: I think the problem with the way that some of
- 31:33Speaker 1: this has been set up is I'm not positive if
- 31:37Speaker 1: it's like the way that the script originally is written,
- 31:43Speaker 1: if it's a translation thing, or if it's the voice actor.
- 31:47Speaker 1: But I wish that in the moments of that speech
- 31:52Speaker 1: to Kora that we got a little bit more genuine
- 31:57Speaker 1: emotion coming from him. It doesn't need to be that
- 32:01Speaker 1: he's fucking teary eyed or anything, you know, But it
- 32:05Speaker 1: just felt like the dialogue was so boilerplate bad guy
- 32:11Speaker 1: being betrayed by his brother bad like it just just
- 32:15Speaker 1: that sort of standard. I could have this written by
- 32:18Speaker 1: Ai kind of energy, and I would have liked a
- 32:26Speaker 1: little bit more dimension added to do Flamingo in terms
- 32:31Speaker 1: of like his priorities and who and what he cares about,
- 32:35Speaker 1: just because we get so much of him in this arc.
- 32:38Speaker 1: This is all about him, and within the arc, this
- 32:42Speaker 1: man does nothing but monologue, and a lot of it
- 32:47Speaker 1: has fallen totally flat for me, because it just feels
- 32:52Speaker 1: flat when I'm listening to him. He it's so rare
- 32:58Speaker 1: to get any sense of since already from him about
- 33:00Speaker 1: anything that he is saying. It feels all the time
- 33:03Speaker 1: like he is just being sarcastic or mocking or pretending
- 33:09Speaker 1: to admire somebody, even as he's like, I'm going to
- 33:11Speaker 1: kill you in a second. It all just is a
- 33:15Speaker 1: little trite and wrote. And I think I would have
- 33:21Speaker 1: liked a flamingo being infused with a bit more genuine humanity.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Not a lot, obviously, because I don't think he has
- 33:32Speaker 1: a lot, but I think that he's been set up
- 33:39Speaker 1: as a bit two dimensional and potentially he could have been, like,
- 33:46Speaker 1: had a lot more depth. And so I'm not sure
- 33:52Speaker 1: where we're going, And eventually maybe I'll be like, oh,
- 33:55Speaker 1: there it is, That's what I wanted. I got it
- 33:56Speaker 1: after all. But just from where I'm sitting right now,
- 34:00Speaker 1: it feels a little bit like I am getting a
- 34:03Speaker 1: taste of something that I don't feel was fully delivered
- 34:08Speaker 1: on that could have been really really interesting, And it's
- 34:13Speaker 1: a bit of a shame. I just would have liked
- 34:15Speaker 1: to see it, and I think it would have made
- 34:19Speaker 1: the parts of this arc that I have found the
- 34:22Speaker 1: most boring, which have tended to involve him a lot
- 34:25Speaker 1: of the time, like when he's actually fighting, when he's
- 34:28Speaker 1: using his powers, it's a really cool power set. He
- 34:33Speaker 1: doesn't he uses it in really creative ways. That isn't
- 34:36Speaker 1: the issue, but I find him as a person to
- 34:40Speaker 1: have been kind of dull. He just felt like a
- 34:44Speaker 1: mustache twirling villain. If we set this stuff up with
- 34:48Speaker 1: like the fact that they raised him up themselves earlier
- 34:53Speaker 1: on and then gave him a bit more reaction to things,
- 34:59Speaker 1: genuine concern for his family members, I think I would
- 35:04Speaker 1: have found this so much more compelling from the beginning.
- 35:10Speaker 1: And this is something that has happened with one piece
- 35:13Speaker 1: before they there will be a character who like, there's
- 35:18Speaker 1: a big reveal later, and all it feels like is
- 35:23Speaker 1: we just wanted to wait to do this big reveal
- 35:26Speaker 1: for the sake of that excitement being dropped, when actually,
- 35:31Speaker 1: if you told me this earlier and developed this more,
- 35:35Speaker 1: the whole thing would have paid off in dividends. But
- 35:38Speaker 1: you didn't do it because it felt like you would
- 35:40Speaker 1: rather go for the shocking surprise rather than like using
- 35:46Speaker 1: that to flavor everything going forward. And so yeah, I don't.
- 35:52Speaker 1: I just I would have liked if we could have
- 35:56Speaker 1: done this stuff earlier on. And there's a lot of
- 36:00Speaker 1: times where I just I do feel that way. You
- 36:02Speaker 1: guys know how I felt about the whole thing with Robin,
- 36:04Speaker 1: that like, by the time we get the reveal and
- 36:07Speaker 1: what was really going on with her, I was just like,
- 36:09Speaker 1: we should have fucking known this already, you know. And
- 36:12Speaker 1: it's not quite as bad with Do Flamingo. He's not
- 36:14Speaker 1: a fucking actual straw hat, you know, So I don't
- 36:19Speaker 1: feel the exact same way about it with him, but
- 36:22Speaker 1: they're you know, they are not the only two that
- 36:24Speaker 1: I have had moments of like, wouldn't it have been
- 36:26Speaker 1: cooler if we knew this sooner? So anyway, Florian says
- 36:32Speaker 1: Dophie was pretty upset when someone made fun of Pica's
- 36:34Speaker 1: voice when he first heard it. I would say, he
- 36:36Speaker 1: cares in his own fucked up way, And Sarahim says,
- 36:40Speaker 1: do wonder how much of this is just how it's written.
- 36:42Speaker 1: Manga to anime adaptation issues and dubbing translation slash acting. Yeah,
- 36:46Speaker 1: that's what I'm saying. Is like with a lot of this,
- 36:49Speaker 1: I don't know if it's the dialogue, if it's the
- 36:51Speaker 1: voice actor, you know, the way he's choosing to deliver
- 36:55Speaker 1: a line, I don't know. But at the very least,
- 36:59Speaker 1: if you know this like backstory for him was known,
- 37:03Speaker 1: that should have been revealed a lot earlier on, I think,
- 37:06Speaker 1: and it would have made things so much more interesting
- 37:09Speaker 1: to me, because otherwise I just saw him as a
- 37:12Speaker 1: sort of like just a typical entitled brat who got
- 37:20Speaker 1: you know, he managed to like become powerful in I
- 37:25Speaker 1: thought a very like ordinary traditional way. And finding all
- 37:31Speaker 1: of this out recontextualizes a lot of little moments with
- 37:34Speaker 1: him that could have been layered if they were done differently,
- 37:40Speaker 1: and it makes him also not just a regular old
- 37:45Speaker 1: mustache wwhirling villain because the people around him actually genuinely
- 37:51Speaker 1: believe in him. And it's different. I knew that they
- 37:56Speaker 1: believed in him because I saw the way that they
- 37:58Speaker 1: were willing to risk everything for him, like I knew intellectually,
- 38:05Speaker 1: but seeing this and the way that they form ranks
- 38:10Speaker 1: around and protect him, this is a totally different type
- 38:15Speaker 1: of energy than people who are just loyal to their boss.
- 38:22Speaker 1: This is people, it feels like, who think they have
- 38:25Speaker 1: found a kind of Messiah figure. He is so like,
- 38:33Speaker 1: so meaningful to them that it's a completely different dynamic
- 38:41Speaker 1: than what I was thinking it was. You know. So
- 38:46Speaker 1: all this said, I really really really like this story beat.
- 38:50Speaker 1: But the fact that I like it so much is
- 38:52Speaker 1: part of what's so frustrating, because I just think that
- 38:55Speaker 1: this could have been done earlier and used better, and
- 39:00Speaker 1: we aren't. You know, we're still not done with this arc.
- 39:02Speaker 1: So it's possible that, like now I'm going to be like, Okay,
- 39:05Speaker 1: here we go, We're doing something interesting. But I was
- 39:09Speaker 1: bored enough by him earlier on that I think it's
- 39:12Speaker 1: kind of a shame. So anyway, this whole backstory, let's
- 39:21Speaker 1: talk about what's going on with fucking Trouble. Because I
- 39:27Speaker 1: had said before that even if you take Do Flamingo out,
- 39:30Speaker 1: Treble is going to be somebody you have to deal with,
- 39:33Speaker 1: and I was not looking forward to it because Treble
- 39:37Speaker 1: is gross and ugly and has an annoying voice and
- 39:41Speaker 1: is gross. And I stand by all of that. Treble's
- 39:49Speaker 1: the reveal that this dude is actually real skinny, but
- 39:55Speaker 1: that he has been able to avoid Lufy's punches because
- 39:59Speaker 1: he is embedded in this big goo body was actually
- 40:05Speaker 1: very funny. I really did like that as a reveal,
- 40:11Speaker 1: and he like steps into everything, sort of giving Do
- 40:15Speaker 1: Flamingo a chance to gather himself back up because law
- 40:21Speaker 1: has been laid out again and he is going to
- 40:27Speaker 1: execute law in this like extremely gruesome way. He wants
- 40:34Speaker 1: Law to open his mouth and is planning to like
- 40:37Speaker 1: shove the staff that he is holding into his mouth
- 40:42Speaker 1: and like blow him up from the inside, which is
- 40:45Speaker 1: some fucking bonker stuff. And eventually, like everybody is on
- 40:54Speaker 1: the ground sort of aware that this fight is happening,
- 40:57Speaker 1: but nobody is able to really see it, and we
- 41:00Speaker 1: briefly with Frankie and the little fairies because like the
- 41:08Speaker 1: what do you call it the bird cage is still
- 41:10Speaker 1: continuing to contract, and he is looking around at everybody saying, like, guys,
- 41:17Speaker 1: I know that you think we're all done, but we've
- 41:22Speaker 1: still got work to do and there is still danger
- 41:24Speaker 1: and we need to get up off our asses and
- 41:26Speaker 1: like get moving here, and eventually we do get Do
- 41:29Speaker 1: Flamingo telling Loofy specifically how long it's going to take
- 41:35Speaker 1: He basically is like, within fifty minutes, this whole place
- 41:38Speaker 1: is just going to be bodies. It's going to be
- 41:41Speaker 1: everybody's going to be dead, and is very very gleeful
- 41:45Speaker 1: about it. Sarahm uh, that's not how Odo rolls. Backstory
- 41:52Speaker 1: is always something that comes in later to answer questions
- 41:54Speaker 1: and recontextualize why a character is the way they are
- 41:57Speaker 1: once that's been established. Yeah, and I just don't like it, Like,
- 42:01Speaker 1: I just think it's it's a mistake. There are sometimes
- 42:06Speaker 1: we're doing it that way is interesting, but I think
- 42:11Speaker 1: most of the time, knowing why somebody is how they
- 42:14Speaker 1: are makes things more interesting in the moment than finding
- 42:18Speaker 1: out about it later. Like there are exceptions, but because
- 42:27Speaker 1: otherwise De Flamingo feels like so too dimensional. He's a
- 42:31Speaker 1: perfect example. He is a boring villain. If you don't
- 42:35Speaker 1: know all this other stuff. He's just sort of you know,
- 42:38Speaker 1: he's very flamboyant and he's got an interesting power that
- 42:41Speaker 1: doesn't really make him interesting, and this does so I
- 42:47Speaker 1: just yeah, I just think that like the fact that
- 42:49Speaker 1: he does things in that order, I don't think he
- 42:51Speaker 1: should be married to that approach. It should be according
- 42:55Speaker 1: to the character and how the storytelling shakes out. Sometimes
- 42:59Speaker 1: that works, there are plenty of times that I don't
- 43:01Speaker 1: think it does at all. Trouble is gross as your
- 43:04Speaker 1: most ice cold take ever, easily the most disgusting character
- 43:07Speaker 1: in the series. Disgusting. Like you, guys, how long have
- 43:12Speaker 1: we been in this arc? How many times have I
- 43:14Speaker 1: looked at this man? And I still get grossed out?
- 43:17Speaker 1: I still do. It doesn't really like it hasn't lessened
- 43:22Speaker 1: the more that I have looked at him. I am
- 43:24Speaker 1: not inured to it. So yeah, eventually he is about
- 43:32Speaker 1: to execute Law, and it's a really weird moment where
- 43:41Speaker 1: Law and forgive me, guys, because I didn't see this
- 43:48Speaker 1: before that I can remember. I would have thought if
- 43:52Speaker 1: he could do this, that he would have done it
- 43:54Speaker 1: in other fights as well. But Law's arm that is well,
- 44:01Speaker 1: I guess it's just because is that the arm that
- 44:03Speaker 1: was cut off? And so because I'm thinking about it
- 44:07Speaker 1: as like he took his own arm off the way
- 44:09Speaker 1: that Buggy does. But no, that's the arm that was
- 44:13Speaker 1: already cut off, right, I'm not wrong about because it's
- 44:17Speaker 1: hard because like lock hand break pieces out of people,
- 44:21Speaker 1: he takes people's hearts and whatnot. So is this uh
- 44:27Speaker 1: the arm that he is still currently using, or I'm
- 44:33Speaker 1: trying to go back into the animation to see the
- 44:35Speaker 1: moment when the arm goes up, and it's just so
- 44:39Speaker 1: I think it has to be the one that's cut
- 44:41Speaker 1: off because his other arm, he isn't holding a sword,
- 44:44Speaker 1: so that sword had to have come from somewhere. Yeah,
- 44:50Speaker 1: because he's on the when he's on the ground and
- 44:52Speaker 1: it's spinning out in front of him, we see his
- 44:56Speaker 1: arm and he has his like fingers flexed in order
- 44:58Speaker 1: to do this slow trick. So he manages to stab
- 45:05Speaker 1: Treble in the gut and then he does sturban blade,
- 45:11Speaker 1: which I don't know what that even means, but it
- 45:14Speaker 1: causes uh a flame to erupt and reminder that Treble's
- 45:22Speaker 1: mucus is flammable, which really isn't fair. Just for the record,
- 45:29Speaker 1: I would like to say that the fact that it
- 45:31Speaker 1: is flammable just seems like a little bit much. And
- 45:35Speaker 1: we go away from him for a sec. But when
- 45:37Speaker 1: we come back, we see him standing there in like
- 45:41Speaker 1: boxer shorts with all of that goo coming off of him,
- 45:46Speaker 1: and he's just got this really big hunch back and
- 45:50Speaker 1: huge head. But He's got like a little torso and
- 45:53Speaker 1: legs and is standing over Treble absolutely fucking horrified at
- 46:00Speaker 1: this whole thing. Meanwhile, and Do Flamingo is trying to
- 46:04Speaker 1: be like I tried to fucking tell you, because he did.
- 46:10Speaker 1: He is standing there saying to Treble, dude, don't fall
- 46:13Speaker 1: for it. He is baiting you. This is a trap.
- 46:17Speaker 1: And Treble says something like he's on the ground, wrapped
- 46:23Speaker 1: up in my mucus. What is he even gonna do?
- 46:26Speaker 1: And seems utterly unconcerned. And I don't know if there
- 46:30Speaker 1: is a reason why this wouldn't work I was expecting
- 46:37Speaker 1: for because Dol Flamingo says something about how he's made
- 46:41Speaker 1: a room already. When I hear that somebody with his
- 46:49Speaker 1: power has already made a room and I am in it,
- 46:52Speaker 1: I really do kind of feel like I've already lost.
- 46:55Speaker 1: I was surprised at how much Trouble just waves that off.
- 46:59Speaker 1: I thought that what Trafalgar was going to do was
- 47:02Speaker 1: basically switch places, and that he was going to have
- 47:07Speaker 1: Trouble wrapped up in the mucus so that he gets
- 47:12Speaker 1: lit on fire. Now I don't know if that would work,
- 47:16Speaker 1: because it's his own mucus, so maybe he won't be
- 47:19Speaker 1: burned by it. And I also don't know whether or
- 47:23Speaker 1: not his like Shamble's ability works if he's wrapped up
- 47:28Speaker 1: in the mucus, you know, it's he isn't a Logia type,
- 47:37Speaker 1: which is what Lufi is assuming before when he punches
- 47:40Speaker 1: him and we see that it does nothing because it's
- 47:43Speaker 1: not his actual body. It's coming out of him, but
- 47:45Speaker 1: it isn't him, And so if he were a Logio type,
- 47:51Speaker 1: I would be willing to accept that he can't use
- 47:53Speaker 1: the shambles power when he is like wrapped up in
- 47:55Speaker 1: somebody's body like that, you know, but that's not what
- 48:00Speaker 1: it is. So anyway, I just thought it was really
- 48:03Speaker 1: surprising the way that Trouble solves this or not Trouble,
- 48:07Speaker 1: that Traffy solves this problem, because I figured switching places
- 48:10Speaker 1: was really a good means of doing it, and for
- 48:15Speaker 1: the fact that he goes with this just a much
- 48:20Speaker 1: more intense method of using the uh, the severed arm.
- 48:27Speaker 1: I mean, if you want to do it the hard way,
- 48:30Speaker 1: I suppose. So this is when Trouble is like, well,
- 48:34Speaker 1: there's still enough of my mucus left. I'll see you
- 48:37Speaker 1: in hell. And he has like a little flame at
- 48:39Speaker 1: the tip of his staff and he puts it down
- 48:41Speaker 1: into the mucus, and we see a big flame go
- 48:45Speaker 1: up off of the roof of the building, and I
- 48:48Speaker 1: was surprised at how much like big the explosion was here.
- 48:52Speaker 1: When the camera backs up and we see it from
- 48:55Speaker 1: everybody else's point of view, it really does look like
- 48:57Speaker 1: the entire building has just gone up in flames. And
- 49:02Speaker 1: I know that nobody's going to die from this. That's
- 49:06Speaker 1: just not how this series works. But if I were trouble,
- 49:10Speaker 1: I feel like i'd be a little bit what's the
- 49:14Speaker 1: word I want sheepish, I suppose, because it looks to
- 49:21Speaker 1: me like you fucked up your boss too, potentially, And
- 49:26Speaker 1: it's weird because he does this. And then we have
- 49:30Speaker 1: Violet using her ability to like see through the flames,
- 49:34Speaker 1: and she says that Treble has been defeated, which Bro
- 49:40Speaker 1: was the one who lit all of this up, and
- 49:43Speaker 1: so I'm not totally sure he was standing like, yeah,
- 49:46Speaker 1: he got stabbed in the gut, A little stab in
- 49:50Speaker 1: the gut. Really, that's it. Everybody in this fucking series
- 49:53Speaker 1: manages to get stabbed every which way, and they are
- 49:56Speaker 1: still fighting they're still fine. Trouble takes one sword to
- 50:01Speaker 1: the gut and then he just lights everything on fire
- 50:04Speaker 1: and he's down pathetic, I mean, my god, Trouble honestly.
- 50:10Speaker 1: So anyway, we also see Loofy jumping off of the
- 50:15Speaker 1: roof and he has got Traffy in his arms and
- 50:23Speaker 1: he is leaping towards them. Because again Viole is the
- 50:27Speaker 1: one that's sort of narrating all of this, we see
- 50:31Speaker 1: that do Flamingo is fine, even though it like, considering
- 50:35Speaker 1: the scale of what this fire looked like, it really
- 50:37Speaker 1: doesn't feel like dofa Mingo should be fine. But I
- 50:40Speaker 1: know he is fine. And this is when Robin says, oh, yeah,
- 50:47Speaker 1: that's he's a warlord. That's Trafalgar Law. And as they
- 50:54Speaker 1: are sailing through the air, Loofy it's so funny how
- 51:00Speaker 1: this like world works in terms of flight and jumps
- 51:04Speaker 1: and all of this stuff. He sends down Trafalgar Law
- 51:09Speaker 1: ahead of him, somehow tosses him and lets Robin catch
- 51:15Speaker 1: him in this net of her arms. So he alone
- 51:20Speaker 1: is still like airborne when this next thing happens. But
- 51:24Speaker 1: it's just so wild that he can still be up
- 51:29Speaker 1: in mid air that doesn't seem like how this should
- 51:33Speaker 1: work if Lufi can't fly, but sure whatever, and then
- 51:39Speaker 1: you hear do Flamingo yelling and he says to Robin,
- 51:45Speaker 1: I don't want you butting in on your our fight.
- 51:47Speaker 1: I'm not done with him yet, and Lufy is trying
- 51:53Speaker 1: to tell him, like, this is between you and me, dude,
- 51:55Speaker 1: you have got to stop it. Leave them the fuck alone,
- 51:58Speaker 1: and of course goes like the fuck I will, and
- 52:02Speaker 1: he shoots off, like I think, he calls it bullets straying. They're,
- 52:07Speaker 1: you know, basically bullets, and Loviy tries to stop him
- 52:11Speaker 1: using a hockey kick, but it doesn't connect in time,
- 52:16Speaker 1: and so we just end this episode with her looking
- 52:18Speaker 1: up towards them with horror in her face as these
- 52:22Speaker 1: bullets come shooting toward them, and it's a Cavendish who
- 52:32Speaker 1: jumps in and manages to deflect all of these little
- 52:36Speaker 1: bullets using a sword. Cavendish being still in the game
- 52:44Speaker 1: was surprising. I kind of thought that he was down
- 52:47Speaker 1: for the count, and he does say, hey, sorry, I
- 52:50Speaker 1: was asleep before, but I'm back, so you know, okay, fine,
- 52:54Speaker 1: But it was just funny to me because I really
- 52:56Speaker 1: had written this dude off as like, Okay, he did
- 52:58Speaker 1: all the shit he was gonna do. He's tired, let
- 53:01Speaker 1: him rest, and no, that is not what we are
- 53:04Speaker 1: going to do. So this entire like, first of all,
- 53:12Speaker 1: I just want to a little bit cheer on Cavendish
- 53:16Speaker 1: for yelling at Loofy we're still doing this. Can you
- 53:20Speaker 1: fucking get the show on the road, dude, I cannot
- 53:23Speaker 1: believe you haven't cleaned up this mess yet. I won't lie.
- 53:28Speaker 1: I really did cackle a little bit, you guys. There
- 53:32Speaker 1: was just something about how I was starting to personally
- 53:36Speaker 1: get impatient with this arc and then him saying that,
- 53:39Speaker 1: and I just couldn't help but be a little bit
- 53:42Speaker 1: like you took the words out of my mouth, kiddo,
- 53:44Speaker 1: just to just drop just a little bit. Not super serious,
- 53:48Speaker 1: I'm just saying so. Loofy tells him, I want you
- 53:56Speaker 1: to get everybody like all together and get them off
- 54:00Speaker 1: the plateau, and cavin Ish just like like fuck, I'm
- 54:05Speaker 1: gonna go and fight him. He's standing right there and
- 54:10Speaker 1: Lufy basically tells him I am letting you take care
- 54:15Speaker 1: of my friends. This is a big deal, and cavin
- 54:18Speaker 1: just understands that it is. He stops for a moment
- 54:20Speaker 1: and is like, wait a second, he trusts me, and
- 54:25Speaker 1: then he says respect popularity. So Strawhat is my fan,
- 54:35Speaker 1: a favor from a fan that I can't say no,
- 54:39Speaker 1: and all the little sparkles pop up around him. I
- 54:43Speaker 1: loved this moment. I literally said out loud, bless him.
- 54:47Speaker 1: When we got to this moment, I just like completely inadvertently.
- 54:50Speaker 1: It was just so funny. I love the difference between
- 54:53Speaker 1: him and Bartolomeo, complete opposites. Bartolomeo is the fan do
- 54:57Speaker 1: anything for you because he worships you, and he's the dog.
- 55:02Speaker 1: He is a dog, like, oh, this person feeds me
- 55:06Speaker 1: and pets me, they must be a god. And Cavendish
- 55:10Speaker 1: is a cat. This person feeds me and pets me,
- 55:13Speaker 1: I must be a god. I love it. It's just perfect.
- 55:17Speaker 1: So anyway, he's like, all right, well, I'm going to
- 55:20Speaker 1: handle this, but I need barts of Leomeo's help because
- 55:23Speaker 1: we need some stairs to get down, and so he
- 55:26Speaker 1: calls out to Barti of Lomeo, who at first is
- 55:28Speaker 1: just like, fuck off Cavendish, and then Cavendish is like,
- 55:31Speaker 1: Robin needs stairs, dude, and he's like, Robin, why didn't
- 55:34Speaker 1: you say so, of course I'll do it then, and
- 55:36Speaker 1: he sets up the stairs and even starts to get
- 55:38Speaker 1: like a little impatient when they aren't running down the
- 55:40Speaker 1: stairs immediately. Meanwhile, Loofy and Do Flamingo are continuing to
- 55:49Speaker 1: fight back and forth. It's, like I said earlier, less
- 55:53Speaker 1: interesting than a lot of stuff. And then eventually we
- 55:57Speaker 1: get the moment where Cavendish refuses to go down the
- 55:59Speaker 1: steps leave Law at first, just wants to be like
- 56:04Speaker 1: he is only here because of me, this is my fault,
- 56:08Speaker 1: and Robin has to say to him, like, dude, Loofy
- 56:11Speaker 1: knows what the fuck he's getting into, and he is
- 56:13Speaker 1: here because he wants to be here fighting. You don't
- 56:16Speaker 1: get to take responsibility for all of this. But Law
- 56:20Speaker 1: doesn't want to be carried off and rescued while Lufy
- 56:24Speaker 1: is continuing to stay and fight, and Cavendish isn't willing
- 56:28Speaker 1: to go and leave Law because he was entrusted with
- 56:31Speaker 1: this job, so he is planning to sit down and
- 56:35Speaker 1: wait with Law as well, which is a little infuriating
- 56:41Speaker 1: because I just feel like you're got you guys are
- 56:44Speaker 1: not helping really, I feel like you're just gonna make
- 56:48Speaker 1: things more difficult in the end by behaving like this,
- 56:51Speaker 1: but okay, fine. Meanwhile the others are making their escape.
- 56:58Speaker 1: It seems like those two are the only ones who
- 57:01Speaker 1: continue to hang around, and we have a moment within
- 57:05Speaker 1: the fight where dol Flamingo is telling Loofy, this whole
- 57:08Speaker 1: place would be fine if you hadn't shown up. We
- 57:10Speaker 1: were living in peace, and Lufy is just like peace.
- 57:14Speaker 1: It was everything was a lie, people were enslaved. What
- 57:17Speaker 1: are you even talking about? Like, I really feel like
- 57:21Speaker 1: Dofalmingo sort of thought Lufy would forget all that when
- 57:24Speaker 1: he said it. It's just the most like fascile argument.
- 57:30Speaker 1: So we have more of these like hockey hits that
- 57:33Speaker 1: get blocked by more hockey, and these huge explosions that
- 57:37Speaker 1: happen as a result of it. And eventually I'm sorry, guys,
- 57:43Speaker 1: holding sorry I got this phone call, but okay, it
- 57:45Speaker 1: went away, And eventually the episode ends just with the
- 57:51Speaker 1: two of them, you know, facing off and who's going
- 57:56Speaker 1: to beat who, and honestly, can we just find out
- 58:01Speaker 1: who's going to be who and be done with it
- 58:03Speaker 1: by now? He even tries to say that, like I
- 58:08Speaker 1: would have left you alone, and Lufy's like, you picked
- 58:10Speaker 1: a fight with me and my people, so I don't
- 58:13Speaker 1: know what the fuck you're talking about. But yeah, so
- 58:17Speaker 1: I actually like, despite feeling a bit of a way
- 58:20Speaker 1: about the continuation of this fight and how much that
- 58:23Speaker 1: part is sort of like white noise to me at
- 58:26Speaker 1: this point in the arc, I really did like a
- 58:29Speaker 1: lot of these three episodes. So I'm not saying that
- 58:33Speaker 1: these were bad. I'm just saying that there were a
- 58:35Speaker 1: lot of things about it that I felt could be
- 58:37Speaker 1: better and handled better. But overall, I am very into it,
- 58:42Speaker 1: and I really I just I want our post fight
- 58:51Speaker 1: party with everybody hanging out together. I want that now.
- 58:54Speaker 1: That's where I'm at, so looking forward to it. All Right,
- 58:58Speaker 1: I'm gonna wrap up. I am over time, but thank
- 59:01Speaker 1: you guys again for hanging out with me. I appreciate
- 59:03Speaker 1: you a lot, and until next time to lou motherfuckers.
- 59:37Speaker 1: That was an Unspoiled Network podcast.
