- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, have a good day. There he goes. 505
- 0:03Speaker 1: News Radio 570, WKBN and Ron Ferb, 82 degrees, Wednesday,
- 0:07Speaker 1: June 3rd. With you until 630 tonight. You're on the air. Hello?
- 0:14Speaker 1: Come back to your phone.
- 0:15Speaker 2: I'm talking to you.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Hey, I'm talking to you.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hey, I know. Listen, that caller a couple of callers ago,
- 0:23Speaker 2: he reminds me of an old grumpy man. There's no
- 0:27Speaker 2: trespassing signs in his yard. He yells at all little
- 0:30Speaker 2: kids that ride their bikes past. Lives in a closed mind.
- 0:34Speaker 2: You can tell a liberal. They're closed mind, and they
- 0:38Speaker 2: talk all over you. You gave him opportunity to speak,
- 0:41Speaker 2: and every time you try to have dialect, intelligent dialect,
- 0:44Speaker 2: he just starts speaking. And you can't have conversation with
- 0:48Speaker 2: those people. You can't. I used to work for the company,
- 0:51Speaker 2: fire company, that put millions of dollars in the Samus plant,
- 0:57Speaker 2: Bruce Mansfield plant, They took the slurry and used the
- 1:01Speaker 2: slurry to make drywall, okay? And First Energy did their
- 1:06Speaker 2: best to keep up with the government, okay? But every time,
- 1:10Speaker 2: this guy don't understand, every time they had to do upgrades,
- 1:14Speaker 2: who paid for that? First Energy didn't pay for that.
- 1:17Speaker 2: They passed it on to us. And the problem is, yes,
- 1:22Speaker 2: you are right. These big corporations behind the scenes, they're
- 1:25Speaker 2: behind it. These liberal lacos, they were behind the windmills
- 1:29Speaker 2: and the new green energy bill. But you're right. There
- 1:33Speaker 2: was no plan B. There's no plan B. So now
- 1:37Speaker 2: we have Samus. I don't understand. I haven't been by
- 1:41Speaker 2: Ron for a while. Someone told me it's completely tore down.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I, that's what they were tearing it down.
- 1:47Speaker 1: I talked to a guy that's, so you saw firsthand
- 1:52Speaker 1: all the modifications that they did down there.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Just in power, just in upgrade power, putting the conveyors
- 2:01Speaker 2: in to get to the river for the barges, the slurry. Millions,
- 2:08Speaker 2: millions on both. We got to bid on both of
- 2:11Speaker 2: those jobs for nothing. And this grumpy old liberal, he
- 2:16Speaker 2: don't understand this. Who paid for that? We paid for that.
- 2:22Speaker 2: First Energy don't pay for that stuff. They pass it
- 2:24Speaker 2: down to the consumer. And there was no Plan B.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I'm all for Clean Energy. I mean, I don't want
- 2:31Speaker 2: to pollute the air. There's no Plan B.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Yeah, but you were familiar with the plant. That plant
- 2:36Speaker 1: was updated down there. How do you pronounce it? Is
- 2:39Speaker 1: it Samus? Is that how you say it?
- 2:41Speaker 2: Samus, yeah. We call it Samus, yeah.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I mean, so that plant had all the most modern
- 2:45Speaker 1: technology in it.
- 2:47Speaker 2: And the engineers are smart enough. They got down at
- 2:53Speaker 2: the table, what do we do with this waste slurry?
- 2:55Speaker 2: They made drywall. They made drywall. And we had to
- 2:59Speaker 2: put miles and miles and miles and miles of conveyor
- 3:02Speaker 2: across these fields to get to the river to go
- 3:06Speaker 2: into the barges.
- 3:09Speaker 1: For the coal or the drywall?
- 3:12Speaker 2: For the slurry to make drywall.
- 3:14Speaker 1: And that is how they do make drywall. I wonder
- 3:17Speaker 1: how they're going to do that with the coal plants
- 3:19Speaker 1: going away.
- 3:21Speaker 2: I don't know. You should ask your liberal. He probably
- 3:24Speaker 2: has a plan B sitting in his front yard yelling
- 3:26Speaker 2: at the kids with his new trespassing signs. You know
- 3:29Speaker 2: what I'm saying? I mean, you listen to these people. Ron,
- 3:32Speaker 2: I don't know how you sit there and listen to
- 3:34Speaker 2: these people.
- 3:34Speaker 1: But I mean, just from you being there, look at
- 3:37Speaker 1: that facility and look at how expensive it would be
- 3:41Speaker 1: to duplicate that today, to duplicate that. So it was
- 3:45Speaker 1: a facility that had all the most modern stuff on it.
- 3:49Speaker 1: And it was a coal plant that generated a ton
- 3:51Speaker 1: of power. And idiot politicians who know very little about
- 3:56Speaker 1: it regulated it out of business and insisted it be
- 4:00Speaker 1: torn down. And as they're tearing it down, they're selling
- 4:04Speaker 1: the major parts out of it to other countries that say...
- 4:07Speaker 1: I mean, they're taking out the generators. They're taking all
- 4:11Speaker 1: of this stuff out of there. And China and these
- 4:14Speaker 1: other countries are buying it.
- 4:17Speaker 3: So..
- 4:19Speaker 1: And then..
- 4:21Speaker 2: Remember Koppelstil over there?
- 4:23Speaker 4: Yes.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Okay.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Our company put a $ 7 million furnace over there, okay?
- 4:29Speaker 2: Just back when traffic was in, you know. And he
- 4:32Speaker 2: fought and fought and fought to keep all his plants open, okay?
- 4:35Speaker 2: They tore the plant down. They shut the plant down.
- 4:38Speaker 2: They sold that furnace for $ 7 million to the Russians. Yep, yep, yep, yep.
- 4:46Speaker 2: But on another note, you know, you think it was
- 4:48Speaker 2: sat down with the energy experts and with the people
- 4:51Speaker 2: that wants to make money with the windmills and the
- 4:54Speaker 2: green and sit down like intelligent people like a private
- 4:57Speaker 2: industry would do and go over and listen. We want
- 5:00Speaker 2: to incorporate this green deal stuff, but let's sit and
- 5:03Speaker 2: use our common sense. What is our plan B? Okay.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Do we back off a little bit at a time
- 5:10Speaker 2: with coal or subsidize the coal with green energy?
- 5:14Speaker 5: No.
- 5:14Speaker 3: No.
- 5:16Speaker 2: You've got these politicians that are in bed with these
- 5:18Speaker 2: stinking special interest groups, and they're all paid off. They're
- 5:22Speaker 2: all multi-multi-millionaires making $ 170, 000 a year. You know what I'm saying?
- 5:30Speaker 2: Who's the one who holds the back? You and I.
- 5:32Speaker 2: And Mr. Liberal with no trespassing signs. You know what
- 5:36Speaker 2: I'm saying? People, liberals got to wise up, okay? We're
- 5:39Speaker 2: all in this together. There's no such thing as donkeys
- 5:42Speaker 2: and elephants. We're all in this together. You know what
- 5:44Speaker 2: I'm saying? You go to Russia. You go to China.
- 5:48Speaker 2: You go to India. They're polluting the air. And they
- 5:51Speaker 2: don't understand. We don't live in a globe. We don't
- 5:55Speaker 2: live in our own little environment. This stuff comes over here.
- 5:58Speaker 2: You know, they tie our hands, but they can pollute.
- 6:03Speaker 6: So, but..
- 6:05Speaker 2: All right, buddy, I don't know how you sit there
- 6:06Speaker 2: and listen to that. I just, God bless you. But, yeah,
- 6:10Speaker 2: they did put millions of dollars in both plants to
- 6:13Speaker 2: try to keep up, and First Energy tried. They kept
- 6:16Speaker 2: moving the goalpost, and they just couldn't do it anymore.
- 6:19Speaker 2: They shut them down.
- 6:20Speaker 1: It's a damn shame, isn't it? All their jobs are gone.
- 6:23Speaker 2: You know, good-paying jobs gone. You know what I'm saying?
- 6:28Speaker 2: And the truck drivers that brought the coal in, it's
- 6:31Speaker 2: a ripple effect. Just like when Lordstown closed down. It's
- 6:35Speaker 2: a ripple effect. You know what I'm saying?
- 6:38Speaker 1: Yes, I do.
- 6:39Speaker 6: Oh, shut up.
- 6:40Speaker 2: I don't want to keep you up.
- 6:41Speaker 4: You have a good evening, buddy.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Thank you. I appreciate your expertise. You're on the air.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Wow, that guy made a great point, huh?
- 6:49Speaker 1: Yeah, he made a lot of sense and a great point.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Now it's your turn, and we'll show people the exact
- 6:55Speaker 1: opposite of that. It's the unknown caller.
- 6:58Speaker 4: Well, I try to disappoint any time I can, Ron.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Well, that's fine. But, uh, Your wife has said that
- 7:03Speaker 1: about you for years.
- 7:06Speaker 4: The New Green Deal, though. You know, one time I
- 7:09Speaker 4: got into a discussion, argument discussion with somebody because they
- 7:14Speaker 4: refer like the New Green Deal. And I used G2' s
- 7:17Speaker 4: statement as a rebuttal. And it just shut that thing down.
- 7:22Speaker 4: It shut the argument down where I said, he said, well,
- 7:27Speaker 4: what about global warming? I said, well, thank God for
- 7:30Speaker 4: global warming, otherwise we'd be under a mile of ice
- 7:33Speaker 4: right now. And that just shut the conversation down right there.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Thank you, G2.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Well, I'm sure he feels very glad about your thanking him.
- 7:44Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:45Speaker 4: Hey, so who was on the radio yesterday? Was that
- 7:48Speaker 4: Ron Bell with all the UFO stuff?
- 7:52Speaker 1: Yeah, that's Art Bell's younger brother, Ron.
- 7:55Speaker 4: Ron, yeah, that's what I said. replacement. You should have
- 7:58Speaker 4: him on like five days a week.
- 8:01Speaker 1: He's broadcasting live from Pahrump, Nevada in the desert.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Oh, okay. But, yeah, the chemtrail thing. You know, I
- 8:13Speaker 4: woke up and I noticed and I'm like, how many,
- 8:15Speaker 4: you know, you wake up, he said like eight o'clock
- 8:17Speaker 4: in the morning, you look out in the sky and
- 8:19Speaker 4: there's all these crisscross checkerboard chemtrails and I wake up
- 8:25Speaker 4: and I look up and I'm like, how many planes
- 8:28Speaker 4: are flying over my house right now? And, um, pretty
- 8:33Speaker 4: much his topic could explain it if it's true. Why,
- 8:39Speaker 4: why would they try to change the environment of the earth?
- 8:43Speaker 1: I don't know. I, I don't know that I've heard
- 8:46Speaker 1: about chemtrails for years, way up in the sky. He
- 8:50Speaker 1: claims they're trying to do it to, uh, keep the
- 8:54Speaker 1: planet cool and, uh, I can't answer that question. I
- 8:58Speaker 1: don't know what the answer to it is.
- 9:02Speaker 4: I also saw you guys were talking about the Voyager yesterday,
- 9:06Speaker 4: Voyager 1, Voyager 2.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I mean, I go back to that yesterday. I mean,
- 9:10Speaker 1: they release all these videos, and I'm watching the videos,
- 9:13Speaker 1: and it's like, this is the best footage you can
- 9:17Speaker 1: give me. I mean, some dot going in all these
- 9:19Speaker 1: different directions and that kind of stuff. Is it too
- 9:22Speaker 1: much to ask for? How about some clear footage of
- 9:24Speaker 1: something that looks like a spaceship or a UFO? I mean,
- 9:28Speaker 1: is it asking too much to see something that is
- 9:32Speaker 1: a little bit more distinguishable?
- 9:35Speaker 4: Well, I actually saw one that was really clear. And
- 9:41Speaker 4: these two guys were talking, look at that, look at that.
- 9:43Speaker 4: And these three spaceships were flying over the mountain together.
- 9:46Speaker 4: And these F-14s or whatever were chasing it. And then
- 9:50Speaker 4: I scroll down, you know, you go kind of to
- 9:53Speaker 4: the site, and it says it was filmed with a
- 9:56Speaker 4: combat simulator, basically a video game. and they put it
- 10:01Speaker 4: on as real. You know, it was totally fake. So
- 10:07Speaker 4: why didn't the government provide us with, like, clear videos?
- 10:11Speaker 4: Because they're probably nonexistent. I don't know.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Do you believe in them, Ron?
- 10:17Speaker 7: No.
- 10:22Speaker 1: No, I do not. I do not. Is it a possibility?
- 10:33Speaker 1: Anything's a possibility. Am I convinced?
- 10:35Speaker 3: No.
- 10:37Speaker 5: No.
- 10:38Speaker 1: I mean, do I think they... Like, they keep saying, well,
- 10:42Speaker 1: the government isn't going to tell you the truth because
- 10:45Speaker 1: they don't want you to know that we're not alone,
- 10:47Speaker 1: or people will panic and all that kind of stuff.
- 10:50Speaker 1: I don't know how you keep something like that a
- 10:52Speaker 1: secret for that long. I mean, with all the people
- 10:55Speaker 1: that would be involved in it. So, I'm not necessarily
- 10:59Speaker 1: buying it. I mean, I just don't... Hey, Ron, you.
- 11:03Speaker 4: Just kill everybody that says anything.
- 11:05Speaker 5: But..
- 11:06Speaker 1: Oh, okay. So what, they go out on a date
- 11:09Speaker 1: with Hillary Clinton? The next thing you know, they're missing
- 11:11Speaker 1: and dead. But, I mean, when people ask the question,
- 11:15Speaker 1: which is, it does intrigue me, well, how do the pyramids,
- 11:19Speaker 1: there's always a speculation that somehow some other type of processor,
- 11:24Speaker 1: some other type of beings were here to build the
- 11:26Speaker 1: pyramids because we didn't have the know-how or the technology
- 11:29Speaker 1: to do something like that. Well, that does make me
- 11:32Speaker 1: stop and think. I mean, I do think about that.
- 11:36Speaker 1: How were those pyramids built?
- 11:38Speaker 4: Or maybe they just had more slaves than you, Ron,
- 11:42Speaker 4: to push all these rocks. No, it's very intriguing, the pyramids. Yeah.
- 11:47Speaker 4: But the woman that called yesterday, she said her boyfriend
- 11:51Speaker 4: was showing her all this stuff.
- 11:54Speaker 8: Yes.
- 11:54Speaker 4: She was, like, exposing everything. So you think that's going
- 11:58Speaker 4: to be her last call ever?
- 12:01Speaker 1: Yeah. I think they're going to come down and take
- 12:04Speaker 1: her away. I just I think all of this stuff.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Let me put it this way. I think the government
- 12:10Speaker 1: lies to you over a lot of stuff. I think
- 12:12Speaker 1: they've lied to you about Agent Orange in Vietnam. I
- 12:15Speaker 1: think they've lied to you about the Kennedy assassination. I
- 12:18Speaker 1: don't believe I don't believe a lot of stuff the
- 12:20Speaker 1: government tells you at all. I think so much of it.
- 12:26Speaker 1: I don't believe the unemployment numbers. I don't believe the
- 12:28Speaker 1: inflation numbers. I think that they're skewed for politics. I
- 12:32Speaker 1: think that they're not accurate at all. whether they're Republicans
- 12:36Speaker 1: or Democrats. So how can you fix a problem if
- 12:38Speaker 1: you don't have accurate information? So I think that stuff
- 12:41Speaker 1: skewed for politics. So I think they basically skew a
- 12:44Speaker 1: lot of stuff. I mean, it's, I don't think Epstein
- 12:47Speaker 1: committed suicide. I don't think Lee Harvey Oswald was it
- 12:51Speaker 1: when it came to the Kennedy assassination. I think there's
- 12:54Speaker 1: more to these Trump assassinations and Charlie Kirk than meets
- 12:58Speaker 1: the eye. And, uh, I'm very suspicious of all of
- 13:03Speaker 1: that stuff. And the government has given me cause to
- 13:06Speaker 1: question what they've told me over the years time and
- 13:09Speaker 1: time again. As I go back, Victoria Nuland, we don't
- 13:11Speaker 1: have bio labs in the Ukraine. Oh, wait a minute.
- 13:14Speaker 1: The Russians are all coming into the Ukraine and they're
- 13:16Speaker 1: going for the bio labs to shut them down. Oh, well,
- 13:19Speaker 1: we do have them. So they were lying to us
- 13:21Speaker 1: and then they had to admit to it. I mean–
- 13:24Speaker 1: So why should I believe? I think Fauci's a gigantic
- 13:27Speaker 1: liar in covering up the whole COVID situation. I think
- 13:31Speaker 1: COVID's a massive cover-up as far as I'm concerned. Massive cover-up.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Fauci should be in jail. And I think the Russian
- 13:39Speaker 1: collusion thing with Hillary Clinton and all of those people
- 13:43Speaker 1: against Trump is a massive government corruption and cover-up.
- 13:50Speaker 4: That leads me to the point, another successful thing that
- 13:55Speaker 4: Trump did with them coming after him so hard and
- 14:00Speaker 4: so frequently, he exposed the deep state. This is something,
- 14:05Speaker 4: you know, one of his accomplishments that nobody talks about,
- 14:07Speaker 4: but he brought all this to light. Like, I don't know,
- 14:10Speaker 4: 10 years ago, you wouldn't even believe all this was possible,
- 14:14Speaker 4: that they're going to, you know, bring all these lawsuits
- 14:17Speaker 4: against a former president. impeach him twice, go through his
- 14:22Speaker 4: wife's underwear drawer. I mean, I don't know how Democrats
- 14:27Speaker 4: cannot see what happened during, you know, that period and
- 14:32Speaker 4: not say, Oh wow. Yeah. There's a deep state and
- 14:36Speaker 4: you know, they're controlling the world.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Uh, I think, I think there, I think there is a, uh,
- 14:44Speaker 1: deep state. I genuinely do. And I think it's, uh,
- 14:50Speaker 1: And I think there's a lot of evil out there
- 14:52Speaker 1: in the world.
- 14:54Speaker 4: Definitely a lot of evil. The earlier caller, was that Frank?
- 14:59Speaker 4: Not Frank. Was that the guy with the robe and
- 15:04Speaker 4: the smoking jacket?
- 15:05Speaker 1: Oh, Fifth Avenue. Yes, it was.
- 15:07Speaker 4: Yeah, was that him?
- 15:08Speaker 1: Yes.
- 15:10Speaker 4: And you try to counter him with saying, do you believe,
- 15:13Speaker 4: you know, women should be, I mean, men should be
- 15:15Speaker 4: in women's sports and the open border. And that's the one?
- 15:20Speaker 1: Yes, yes.
- 15:21Speaker 4: Yeah, and he just wouldn't listen. He finally did listen,
- 15:25Speaker 4: and I admire him for that. And I like getting
- 15:28Speaker 4: all the views from all the different spectrums of the
- 15:33Speaker 4: political thing that's out there. On your show, it really
- 15:39Speaker 4: opens the eyes of a lot of people, and you
- 15:44Speaker 4: don't really hear that a lot anymore. Like, Fox News
- 15:47Speaker 4: is just totally... you know, Republican. And all the other
- 15:55Speaker 4: news agencies are just left-wing media. So your show is
- 16:00Speaker 4: pretty good with that. So he was saying that you said,
- 16:07Speaker 4: you were saying something about the one Democrat couldn't describe
- 16:11Speaker 4: a woman?
- 16:12Speaker 3: Yes.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:14Speaker 4: So, Ron, I have a uterus.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Listen to Youngstown's news, weather, and talk station, 570 WKBN.
- 16:24Speaker 1: And Ron Furb from the Kingdom of Mahoning at 525
- 16:27Speaker 1: here on a Wednesday afternoon. Gorgeous day. Always glad you
- 16:30Speaker 1: tuned in. It's 83 degrees and you're on the air.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Ronnie!
- 16:35Speaker 1: Vince from Austintown.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Ronnie, how long have we been friends? As long as
- 16:42Speaker 3: you've been employed by WKBN. Over 30-some years?
- 16:48Speaker 1: 41 years. 41 years, to be exact.
- 16:52Speaker 3: We've been through, in your time here in the Valley,
- 16:57Speaker 3: you saw the Valley go from being, you know, coming
- 17:00Speaker 3: back after the steel mills closed, the reefs closed. comeback
- 17:05Speaker 3: that we had, and now you saw all the perfect
- 17:09Speaker 3: politicians that got booted out and all that other stuff,
- 17:13Speaker 3: and you survived all that. Maybe a suggestion, Ron, to
- 17:18Speaker 3: help the show get along a little better so we
- 17:20Speaker 3: don't have to wait three weeks to talk to you.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Maybe five minutes per call. Maybe one call a week
- 17:28Speaker 3: from the guy from Florida. You know, little things like
- 17:33Speaker 3: that help us get through the day. You know, when
- 17:41Speaker 3: you don't have a game, maybe he could come on.
- 17:44Speaker 3: I like G2. I think he's great for the show.
- 17:46Speaker 3: He gives ratings and everything. He's very knowledgeable.
- 17:51Speaker 6: Extremely.
- 17:51Speaker 3: I think Rich, the pharmacist, is very knowledgeable. Except for
- 17:55Speaker 3: that one time, Rich, listen up, isn't it? It's not
- 17:58Speaker 3: that I, you know, I think you're a great guy
- 18:01Speaker 3: and all that. You're probably a wonderful pharmacist. But when
- 18:04Speaker 3: those kids from the smaller schools get a little ink
- 18:07Speaker 3: in the paper, you know, you shouldn't have talked about that.
- 18:10Speaker 3: I mean, these kids, they're not... They're not 6'5 and
- 18:13Speaker 3: 300 pounds, and they're not 6'2 and running back going
- 18:17Speaker 3: to Ohio State or a lineman going to Notre Dame
- 18:21Speaker 3: and stuff. They're going to colleges where they think they
- 18:23Speaker 3: can play at their size and weight. Give them a little...
- 18:26Speaker 3: The Vindicator wants to put a little picture of them
- 18:28Speaker 3: in there. Give them a little props. I hope he understands.
- 18:32Speaker 3: And then the other thing, Ronnie, you know as well
- 18:36Speaker 3: as I do, if we had..
- 18:41Speaker 4: The Senate and the House.
- 18:43Speaker 3: We should be getting stuff done.
- 18:45Speaker 1: We should be getting..
- 18:47Speaker 9: Our representatives should be hounding the president. Hey, let's start
- 18:50Speaker 9: at least three new oral refineries on each coast, and
- 18:56Speaker 9: maybe two down in on the Gulf of America. The
- 19:01Speaker 9: only ones going up down there is the Indians building.
- 19:04Speaker 4: It, not us.
- 19:06Speaker 2: India.
- 19:07Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 19:08Speaker 3: I think Don't you think maybe, you.
- 19:13Speaker 6: Know, I think that Mr.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Trump is doing the best he can and everything.
- 19:17Speaker 2: I do agree with some of the people.
- 19:19Speaker 3: I don't agree with everything he does.
- 19:20Speaker 6: No, no.
- 19:22Speaker 3: When he's wrong, he's wrong. Him getting in this.
- 19:24Speaker 6: Shooting war was wrong.
- 19:28Speaker 2: And what are we going to get out of it, Ronnie?
- 19:30Speaker 2: Are we going to get free passage?
- 19:31Speaker 3: Are we going to get some free oil for the
- 19:34Speaker 3: next five years? Didn't we save Iraq? And we saved
- 19:41Speaker 3: those other countries in the Gulf when we went in there,
- 19:44Speaker 3: a desert storm, one, two, three.
- 19:46Speaker 6: We didn't take the oil.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Everybody said, oh, you're going in for the oil.
- 19:49Speaker 2: We didn't take any.
- 19:40Speaker 3: No, we probably should have, though. We should have, yes.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Did the victors go to spoil?
- 19:58Speaker 1: You got it.
- 19:59Speaker 3: We should have took like 20 years.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Gotta go. News Radio 570 WKV. Back to it. We're
- 20:06Speaker 1: with you till 6.30 tonight. Guardians pregame at 6.30 on
- 20:10Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKVN. Ron Perp from the Kingdom of Mahoning.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Until that time, on a gorgeous Wednesday afternoon. It's just
- 20:17Speaker 1: been terrific weather we've been having lately. After all the
- 20:20Speaker 1: rain we've had for the longest period of time, finally, finally,
- 20:23Speaker 1: days and days without rain and comfortable temperatures and sunshine.
- 20:29Speaker 1: These are the days we live for and long for.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Around my neck of the woods, 535, and you are
- 20:36Speaker 1: on the air. Hello there.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Ron, how you doing?
- 20:38Speaker 1: I'm well, thank you. Go ahead.
- 20:40Speaker 10: I just want to make a quick comment.
- 20:42Speaker 4: I think Vince is right.
- 20:44Speaker 10: In what he just said. Certain people that you can't talk,
- 20:49Speaker 10: it's like talking to a brick wall, okay? I agree
- 20:52Speaker 10: that G2 should be on the intelligent people that have
- 20:58Speaker 10: stuff to contribute to your station. G2, Rich, and Bosley.
- 21:03Speaker 10: I mean, and if anybody else that calls in has,
- 21:07Speaker 10: you know, smart stuff to say.
- 21:09Speaker 2: But why waste.
- 21:10Speaker 10: People's time in talking to somebody that's like talking to
- 21:14Speaker 10: a brick wall? That's all I want to say, Ron.
- 21:16Speaker 10: Have a good evening.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Well, I'll answer your question, and I'd be more than
- 21:19Speaker 1: happy to, because many people don't think people should have
- 21:22Speaker 1: any conversation or airtime if their opinion is differing than
- 21:26Speaker 1: what they believe in.
- 21:27Speaker 3: And..
- 21:29Speaker 1: That's just not how it is. I mean, that's usually
- 21:33Speaker 1: when people say, well, why do you let that guy
- 21:35Speaker 1: on or why do you let that guy talk? They
- 21:37Speaker 1: usually say that because they don't agree with that person's
- 21:39Speaker 1: thought or opinion. So I'm not I don't participate in
- 21:43Speaker 1: where the Biden type mentality when they stricken somebody's view
- 21:50Speaker 1: because you disagree with their viewpoints. I just don't agree
- 21:54Speaker 1: with that. And I never have, and I haven't done
- 21:58Speaker 1: it in 41 years. It doesn't matter whether I agree
- 22:02Speaker 1: or disagree with you. I want to hear your thoughts
- 22:06Speaker 1: and your opinion and your comments and try to understand
- 22:09Speaker 1: why you think the way you do. So when you
- 22:13Speaker 1: say that kind of stuff, In a lot of cases,
- 22:16Speaker 1: like I say, over the years, people just don't like
- 22:18Speaker 1: it when we have a conversation with somebody that has
- 22:22Speaker 1: perhaps a liberal opinion or a different opinion than they have.
- 22:27Speaker 1: And I don't want the program ever to become just
- 22:30Speaker 1: an echo chamber of agreeing with all of that kind
- 22:33Speaker 1: of stuff. As I say, you saw that censorship. I
- 22:37Speaker 1: don't believe in that. You saw that censorship in COVID.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Only the people that agreed with the government scenario on
- 22:43Speaker 1: COVID The origins of COVID were allowed on social media.
- 22:47Speaker 1: They banned people that were other doctors and scientists that
- 22:51Speaker 1: had much differing opinions because they didn't want them to
- 22:54Speaker 1: have an opportunity to say what they thought. And ultimately,
- 22:57Speaker 1: they ended up being correct. So, just because I might
- 23:04Speaker 1: not have the same philosophy or the same opinion doesn't
- 23:07Speaker 1: mean I am an idiot. that I'm not interested in
- 23:10Speaker 1: their philosophy or their opinion. We all life's experiences are
- 23:14Speaker 1: all different for all of us. And it's, it's perhaps
- 23:17Speaker 1: some of that that makes up our perspectives in life
- 23:20Speaker 1: and why we think the way we do and why
- 23:24Speaker 1: we reach the conclusions that we do, but just based
- 23:28Speaker 1: on life's experiences and, and how you were raised. So,
- 23:34Speaker 1: I mean, not, not, so I'm not going to, restrict somebody's, uh, views, uh,
- 23:42Speaker 1: along that way. Now I will agree with everybody. I mean,
- 23:44Speaker 1: G2 is, uh, is a very educational caller and that's why, uh,
- 23:48Speaker 1: I have so many segments with him. G2' s, uh, live
- 23:52Speaker 1: in a bunker on a satellite phone, the very mysterious G2,
- 23:55Speaker 1: but he has a lot of, uh, wisdom and, uh,
- 23:59Speaker 1: life's knowledge and a background to explain things, uh, to
- 24:03Speaker 1: many people as to why what's going on. And, uh,
- 24:07Speaker 1: I think it's worth listening to. That's why he's on.
- 24:09Speaker 1: That's why I have him on. I'm glad to hear
- 24:11Speaker 1: people appreciate all that he brings to the program because
- 24:14Speaker 1: I think he brings a lot to it. But just
- 24:19Speaker 1: because you don't agree with some of the other callers
- 24:22Speaker 1: because they have a different political philosophy, well, they're entitled
- 24:28Speaker 1: to their thoughts, too. You're on the air.
- 24:34Speaker 7: Hello.
- 24:34Speaker 5: Hello.
- 24:35Speaker 3: Hello? Yes.
- 24:38Speaker 6: Hi, Ron. Jim Dunlap here. We met informally. I believe
- 24:46Speaker 6: you stopped in at Handyman Hardware in Austin Town.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Oh, yes. Yes, I have.
- 24:50Speaker 6: Where I started working part-time recently after retiring from full-time
- 24:55Speaker 6: work three years ago.
- 24:56Speaker 1: I remember it quite well. I remember seeing you.
- 24:59Speaker 6: Some friends and colleagues of mine urged me to call
- 25:02Speaker 6: you briefly. This week, I'm running for chairman of the
- 25:10Speaker 6: Tomokai Republican Party. And as your comments a minute ago alluded,
- 25:18Speaker 6: you're not on the air to be partisan.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Well, no, I'm very partisan. I certainly have opinions, that's
- 25:24Speaker 1: for sure. But I'm not a neutral guy. But you're
- 25:27Speaker 1: running for the chairman of the Republican Party in Trumbull County.
- 25:32Speaker 6: Yeah, we have a quadrennial reorganization meeting tomorrow. tomorrow.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Did I read in the paper, is Denny Malloy running
- 25:43Speaker 1: for that, too?
- 25:44Speaker 6: Yeah, him and I are squaring off for that, yeah.
- 25:50Speaker 6: It's an extremely important election for Republicans in the county
- 25:55Speaker 6: because I believe it's going to determine the direction of
- 25:59Speaker 6: the county party for more than a four-year term. We're
- 26:04Speaker 6: probably looking at five to ten years uh... and uh... uh...
- 26:11Speaker 6: are uh..
- 26:12Speaker 2: Uh..
- 26:12Speaker 6: Precinct committee people have a very important decision to make
- 26:15Speaker 6: that's going to have a lot of effect going forward.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Why do you think they should vote for you versus denny.
- 26:23Speaker 6: Well first of all i'm i've been a true blue
- 26:26Speaker 6: republican for a long time served the party in numerous
- 26:29Speaker 6: capacities for umpteen years uh... denny on the other hand
- 26:35Speaker 6: to be frank uh... when you have a crowd throughout
- 26:38Speaker 6: his life until uh..
- 26:41Speaker 1: Uh..
- 26:41Speaker 6: Twenty twenty two when he started uh... as i see
- 26:44Speaker 6: it pretending to be a republican just for the purpose
- 26:47Speaker 6: of running for public office and that's not the way
- 26:50Speaker 6: you're supposed to do things uh..
- 26:54Speaker 2: Uh..
- 26:56Speaker 6: It's a it's a whole different tenor and uh... there
- 27:02Speaker 6: him and and a small group of of uh... let's say,
- 27:08Speaker 6: all-about-themselves people have been doing their own Republican thing separate
- 27:13Speaker 6: and apart from the party for years. And, you know,
- 27:19Speaker 6: some people would call that subversion. But in any case,
- 27:23Speaker 6: I just think I'm a much better fit and more
- 27:27Speaker 6: loyal to the party for honest reasons, and that I,
- 27:33Speaker 6: together with some good officers... will set a better direction
- 27:39Speaker 6: for the party in the next four years. Let's put
- 27:41Speaker 6: it that way.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Well, you've got to admire anybody that's willing to take
- 27:47Speaker 1: on that position. You don't get paid for that, do you?
- 27:51Speaker 3: No, no.
- 27:52Speaker 6: These are just volunteer positions. Actually, precinct committee people, even
- 27:58Speaker 6: though it's a publicly elected office, they're volunteer positions. There's
- 28:01Speaker 6: no pay involved. We do it because we believe in it.
- 28:08Speaker 6: And I just... I'll put it this way. I'm a
- 28:15Speaker 6: Republican because I'm a constitutional conservative, not the other way around.
- 28:21Speaker 6: I do it out of principle and very deep-seated beliefs.
- 28:28Speaker 6: I didn't join the party or run for... anything because
- 28:35Speaker 6: there was something in it for me. I did it
- 28:37Speaker 6: strictly out of a strong belief in what we stand
- 28:41Speaker 6: for and what we're trying to accomplish. And there was
- 28:50Speaker 6: credible reports that Benny met with Kristen Rock, who's the
- 28:59Speaker 6: Democrat nominee for commissioner, facing off against Mike Hovis who
- 29:06Speaker 6: beat Denny in the recent primary at a local restaurant
- 29:10Speaker 6: just last week. And eavesdroppers are reporting that they were
- 29:16Speaker 6: basically strategizing on how to beat Mike Hovis, the Republican,
- 29:22Speaker 6: in November. So you have to wonder, you know, what
- 29:24Speaker 6: kind of a Republican is that that would, you know,
- 29:28Speaker 6: out of spite, obviously, try to help the Democrat nominee
- 29:35Speaker 6: against her Republican opponent in the upcoming November election.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I mean, if that's true, and I don't
- 29:43Speaker 1: know it is, you're saying that it is. If that's true,
- 29:47Speaker 1: that wouldn't reflect very good on a guy that wants
- 29:49Speaker 1: to be chairman of the party.
- 29:51Speaker 6: There are people that I trust and believe in who
- 29:55Speaker 6: told me, yes, it's absolutely true.
- 29:58Speaker 4: It happened.
- 29:59Speaker 6: Eyewitnesses saw it. And supposedly eavesdroppers heard a little bit
- 30:03Speaker 6: of the conversation. That's just one example. I could go
- 30:09Speaker 6: on and on. Obviously, we don't have that kind of time.
- 30:13Speaker 6: But it's just I think I'm a much better example
- 30:21Speaker 6: of what a true Republican should be. And it would
- 30:24Speaker 6: be a better fit for the party and more welcoming
- 30:28Speaker 6: of a broad base of Republicans in the party rather
- 30:30Speaker 6: than a tight clan.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Well, I wish you the best of luck. I always
- 30:40Speaker 1: give people a thumbs up, willing to put themselves out there,
- 30:45Speaker 1: particularly when they're running for something that doesn't pay just
- 30:47Speaker 1: because they're committed to the organization of the cause. I
- 30:50Speaker 1: think it's admirable. So I'll give you... a thumbs up and, uh,
- 30:54Speaker 1: wish you the best of luck. I mean, it's, uh, it's, uh,
- 30:58Speaker 1: it's your calling as they say, right?
- 31:01Speaker 4: Yes.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Yes.
- 31:02Speaker 6: Well, one of them, but my wife says I spread
- 31:06Speaker 6: myself too thin, which is, she's probably right.
- 31:09Speaker 2: But, uh, you know, I get involved in things.
- 31:11Speaker 4: I believe in my.
- 31:12Speaker 6: Church, uh, I'm in charge of your archery ranges. I
- 31:15Speaker 6: don't buy an efficient game, uh, and, and, uh, Republican party. And, uh, uh, Freemasonry. And,
- 31:25Speaker 6: but anyway, I, you know, that's it. I get involved
- 31:27Speaker 6: in things I believe in, not because, you know, there's
- 31:30Speaker 6: something coming back benefit to me.
- 31:32Speaker 4: And, uh, uh, Republican, uh, parties.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Right.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Well, I gotta give you, you gotta admire that. I
- 31:41Speaker 1: just leave you with this. Keep in mind, life is short.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Make sure you, you don't get involved in so much
- 31:45Speaker 1: stuff that you miss enjoying life and living life. Cause
- 31:49Speaker 1: it is, uh, It's not forever, my friends. All right?
- 31:53Speaker 6: No, it's not.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 31:55Speaker 6: I appreciate that. You're absolutely correct.
- 31:57Speaker 1: All right. Hang in there. Nice hearing you again. All right.
- 32:00Speaker 1: You're on the air.
- 32:03Speaker 8: It's great that there are still people that have a
- 32:05Speaker 8: sense of community in our area. I was just thinking about,
- 32:09Speaker 8: you know, all the politicians of the past in Trumbull
- 32:12Speaker 8: County and Mahoning County and how they get remembered, but
- 32:15Speaker 8: it's amazing how the ones that are how so many
- 32:21Speaker 8: of them are remembered for the bad things that they
- 32:22Speaker 8: do and not the good things they do. And Jim Traffick,
- 32:27Speaker 8: it comes to mind, he did a lot of good things.
- 32:30Speaker 8: There's a lot of the 7-Eleven connector, all that stuff,
- 32:34Speaker 8: the buildings downtown that he championed that were never named
- 32:38Speaker 8: after him to spite him. It's just amazing how the
- 32:45Speaker 8: politics in our valley runs.
- 32:49Speaker 1: I think it's very sad, Jim Traffick. First of all,
- 32:52Speaker 1: I think Jim Traffick was probably one of the smartest
- 32:54Speaker 1: political figures in our community. And I think he was
- 32:59Speaker 1: an extremely intelligent man. And he did everything that you said,
- 33:04Speaker 1: the federal courthouses, the 7-Eleven connector, the Covelli Center, the
- 33:09Speaker 1: Air Base. I mean, you can actually see all this
- 33:13Speaker 1: stuff as a result of Traffick. And And the tragedy is,
- 33:16Speaker 1: as you have said, not a damn thing has his
- 33:19Speaker 1: name on it. And I think that that is sad.
- 33:23Speaker 1: The good news is I do disagree with you on
- 33:25Speaker 1: one point. I think the majority of people in the
- 33:27Speaker 1: community look at trafficking very favorably. And certainly if they've
- 33:32Speaker 1: been around, they know all that he has done for
- 33:36Speaker 1: the community more than certainly Tim Ryan did in his
- 33:39Speaker 1: long tenure and so forth. more than any congressperson has
- 33:42Speaker 1: done since trafficking. He knew how to play the game,
- 33:46Speaker 1: and trafficking was a smart guy.
- 33:49Speaker 4: He could get people talking.
- 33:50Speaker 8: I mean, he could get opponents talking to each other
- 33:53Speaker 8: to come to an agreement to get a bill passed.
- 33:57Speaker 4: And it was just amazing.
- 33:59Speaker 8: You know, I'd listen to him on the radio, and
- 34:01Speaker 8: they'd kick it in the clutch, and let's get down
- 34:04Speaker 8: the road here and do some good. But, you know,
- 34:09Speaker 8: it just amazes me. It amazes me how that went down.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Well, he was one of a kind, but if you
- 34:15Speaker 1: go back to that time, I would say to you
- 34:17Speaker 1: we had a lot of better people in office. I mean,
- 34:24Speaker 1: I thought Pat Ungaro was a really, really good man.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Traffickant was an excellent congressman. I really liked George McKelvey
- 34:35Speaker 1: a great deal.
- 34:37Speaker 10: Uh..
- 34:37Speaker 8: George mckelvey he was a substitute teacher at my high
- 34:40Speaker 8: school i met him when i was maybe a junior
- 34:43Speaker 8: or senior and uh... i'll always remember you know he
- 34:47Speaker 8: always looked to me to be somebody that a very
- 34:50Speaker 8: likable person and uh... i haven't met him i've heard
- 34:53Speaker 8: him on your show since but i'm always taken back.
- 34:56Speaker 2: That when he uh..
- 34:58Speaker 4: Taught at.
- 34:59Speaker 8: Champion high school as a substitute teacher for a.
- 35:01Speaker 1: While I say time and time again. I mean, George
- 35:05Speaker 1: would sit here and he'd take calls. People would have
- 35:07Speaker 1: a complaint. He'd write it down. He'd go on the
- 35:09Speaker 1: phone and call and make sure it got dealt with.
- 35:12Speaker 1: And he just seemed like he was a public servant.
- 35:18Speaker 1: You follow me? It's like, okay, this is what it is.
- 35:21Speaker 1: And Pat Anguero was very much that, too. I never
- 35:24Speaker 1: got the sense that Pat Anguero was really too stuck
- 35:26Speaker 1: on himself or thought he was better or important. And
- 35:29Speaker 1: quite frankly, to be blunt with you, I never got
- 35:31Speaker 1: that impression from Jim Traffick in either. I mean, I just...
- 35:34Speaker 1: It seemed that they weren't... In all my years with Traffick,
- 35:40Speaker 1: he wasn't an egomaniac. Pat Anguirus certainly wasn't an egomaniac.
- 35:44Speaker 1: George McKelvey was a public servant. So you take a
- 35:47Speaker 1: look at... I'm just trying to go through. I think
- 35:49Speaker 1: Ralph Meacham has those qualities today as auditor. I just
- 35:56Speaker 1: look at some of the people in... I think Dave
- 35:59Speaker 1: Thomas is everything good about politics and is a public servant. Unfortunately,
- 36:08Speaker 1: I'll just leave it there.
- 36:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:11Speaker 8: The one thing I know is that looking back on
- 36:14Speaker 8: my life and the things that I've been into and
- 36:17Speaker 8: the opportunities that I've blown up on my own misbehavior
- 36:22Speaker 8: or whatever, my end result, the end of my life was, man,
- 36:27Speaker 8: I really could have done more with what I had
- 36:30Speaker 8: available to me, and I blew the opportunity. And, you know,
- 36:36Speaker 8: living today and doing what I do and driving down
- 36:39Speaker 8: the road and being past retirement age and doing this
- 36:43Speaker 8: because it's a good buck and I enjoy it and
- 36:46Speaker 8: I'm not going to go sit at home and do nothing.
- 36:47Speaker 8: But I just think that all of these politicians today,
- 36:53Speaker 8: they're going to look back and say, I could have
- 36:54Speaker 8: done more had I... had a little bit more gravitas
- 36:58Speaker 8: or a little bit more gumption to put my foot down.
- 37:02Speaker 8: And that's what I think about Mr.
- 37:04Speaker 9: Thomas.
- 37:05Speaker 8: I met him at a fundraiser out in Champion when
- 37:10Speaker 8: the sheriff was running. But I think that he could
- 37:14Speaker 8: do more if he stood his ground a little bit
- 37:17Speaker 8: better and pushed the issues harder.
- 37:20Speaker 1: I think he's accomplished a great deal. I do.
- 37:23Speaker 4: I really do.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Stand by. Just hang on a second. Hang on. I'll
- 37:27Speaker 1: be right back to you in a minute. News Radio
- 37:29Speaker 1: 570 WKBN. All right. Ron Furb, Kingdom of Mahoning, 555
- 37:34Speaker 1: here on a Wednesday.
- 37:36Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 37:36Speaker 1: I think Dave Thomas is one of the hardest working
- 37:39Speaker 1: state reps that I've witnessed in 41 years here. I mean,
- 37:42Speaker 1: I don't know that. I mean, the thought that he
- 37:46Speaker 1: ran to be state rep because his auditories could see
- 37:48Speaker 1: what property taxes were doing to people, the fact that
- 37:51Speaker 1: he understands it and has championed all of these changes
- 37:54Speaker 1: that have benefited a lot of people, I think is
- 37:58Speaker 1: terrific for a guy that just... got elected. Would I
- 38:02Speaker 1: like to see him run for a higher office at
- 38:05Speaker 1: some point? I guess you go from state rep to
- 38:07Speaker 1: state senator. Do I think that I would like to
- 38:11Speaker 1: see him go further? Absolutely. If he has a desire to.
- 38:15Speaker 1: I mean, I'd absolutely like to see that happen, but
- 38:18Speaker 1: I'm very pleased with what he's doing so far.
- 38:21Speaker 3: As most, as all of us are.
- 38:22Speaker 8: I'm not trying to degrade him at all, but with looking,
- 38:27Speaker 8: I just hope that, you know, his horizons expand and
- 38:32Speaker 8: he expects more and more because the little bit that
- 38:35Speaker 8: he got done, you know, it's substantial what he did.
- 38:38Speaker 8: What he's done for us so far could have been
- 38:40Speaker 8: a heck of a lot more, especially, you know, with
- 38:45Speaker 8: the property tax thing, trying to get..
- 38:49Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean, he's not a king. He's got
- 38:52Speaker 1: to get it through, you know, he was able to
- 38:55Speaker 1: come up with it and get it through with the
- 38:57Speaker 1: Republicans voting for it. And the first time the governor
- 39:00Speaker 1: vetoed all this stuff. So he had to do a
- 39:02Speaker 1: lot of it all over again. I mean, I... He
- 39:05Speaker 1: is genuinely a public servant. I mean, he has done
- 39:08Speaker 1: stuff that will benefit every single property taxpayer in the state.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Everybody will benefit from what he has done. And the
- 39:19Speaker 1: sad part is, a lot of people won't even know it.
- 39:24Speaker 8: Personally, I don't like the exemptions. Because I still work
- 39:28Speaker 8: and I make too much money, I don't get the...
- 39:31Speaker 8: the Homestead Act and all that stuff.
- 39:36Speaker 1: But that's income-based, so I get it.
- 39:38Speaker 4: I don't think it should be, though.
- 39:40Speaker 1: No, I agree with how they do it in Florida.
- 39:44Speaker 1: And it's not even age-based down there. The Olmstead exemptions
- 39:48Speaker 1: are not age-based or income-based or anything. It just has
- 39:51Speaker 1: to be, you have to be a Florida resident to
- 39:54Speaker 1: get it. I mean, we have some of the highest
- 39:56Speaker 1: property taxes around in the state of Ohio, and I
- 39:58Speaker 1: think it's ridiculous. So I'm with you.
- 40:00Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 40:01Speaker 1: I'm with you. I mean, change has got to happen
- 40:03Speaker 1: with it because as time goes on, once again, they're
- 40:06Speaker 1: going to price people out of their homes and make
- 40:08Speaker 1: it difficult for people to buy a home because all
- 40:11Speaker 1: of a sudden you're saying, well, here's your payments and
- 40:14Speaker 1: you got to have insurance if you have a loan.
- 40:16Speaker 1: And by the way, here's the property taxes. And all
- 40:18Speaker 1: of a sudden you start looking at that big number
- 40:21Speaker 1: for property taxes monthly. It makes the payments shoot way
- 40:25Speaker 1: up monthly and you just make it so people can
- 40:28Speaker 1: achieve the American dream. And to me, that's bullcrap.
- 40:32Speaker 3: I agree.
- 40:33Speaker 6: I agree.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Keep working, though. Keep hustling. I mean, you know, what
- 40:37Speaker 1: do they say? You stop moving, you start dying.
- 40:40Speaker 8: Hey, stop moving, they throw dirt on you.
- 40:42Speaker 1: There you go, man. So you're out there making a buck.
- 40:46Speaker 1: How old are you now?
- 40:47Speaker 5: 69.
- 40:49Speaker 8: I turned 69 in March.
- 40:52Speaker 1: But you're collecting your Social Security, right?
- 40:55Speaker 3: Right, right.
- 40:55Speaker 1: All right, so.
- 40:56Speaker 8: And as I keep on working every year, my Social
- 40:59Speaker 8: Security check goes up.
- 41:00Speaker 1: That's right. Because you keep paying into it. Good for you. Right.
- 41:05Speaker 1: I'm glad to hear it. Do you think you'll quit
- 41:07Speaker 1: working at 70?
- 41:09Speaker 8: I'll quit working when they don't let me in the
- 41:11Speaker 8: truck anymore.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Hey, man, it's a joy talking to you. Thanks for calling.
- 41:15Speaker 1: I appreciate it.
- 41:20Speaker 5: From ABC News, I'm Michelle Franzen. For the first time
- 41:27Speaker 5: since the war with Iran began, House lawmakers passing a
- 41:30Speaker 5: war powers resolution to limit President Trump's use of U.S.
- 41:33Speaker 5: forces without a declaration of war or authorization. That vote, symbolic,
- 41:37Speaker 5: but shows a growing number of Democrats and Republicans now
- 41:41Speaker 5: who don't agree with the president's handling of the war
- 41:43Speaker 5: now in its fourth month. President Trump telling reporters he
- 41:46Speaker 5: believes a deal with Iran is getting closer and brushed
- 41:49Speaker 5: off concerns that the ceasefire won't hold after the Pentagon
- 41:53Speaker 5: shot down Iranian drones targeting U.S. forces in Kuwait.
- 41:57Speaker 7: We could go another two, three weeks and just wipe
- 42:00Speaker 7: everybody out. I'd rather not do that. Very easy to do.
- 42:04Speaker 7: They're ready to do it. They want to do it.
- 42:06Speaker 1: They want to do it.
- 42:08Speaker 7: But if we can get something down in writing which
- 42:10Speaker 7: will accomplish the same thing without killing everybody, I'd like
- 42:13Speaker 7: to do that.
- 42:13Speaker 5: In the wake of another Supreme Court decision that weakened
- 42:16Speaker 5: parts of the Civil Rights Act, justices issued a decision
- 42:19Speaker 5: today in an Alabama case allowing the state to use
- 42:23Speaker 5: a 2023 congressional map for midterms elections. California's primary race
- 42:28Speaker 5: for the L.A. mayor is still being tallied. Incumbent Karen
- 42:32Speaker 5: Bass receiving enough votes to move on to November's runoff election.
- 42:36Speaker 5: But Republican Spencer Pratt leads other candidates to become the
- 42:39Speaker 5: opposing candidate. ABC political director Avery Harper has more.
- 42:43Speaker 2: It is a.
- 42:43Speaker 11: Warning shot to Karen Bass, the fact that she has
- 42:45Speaker 11: to go to a runoff at all. It hasn't been
- 42:48Speaker 11: for at least a couple of decades that an incumbent
- 42:51Speaker 11: mayor in Los Angeles has had to go to a
- 42:54Speaker 11: runoff because they did not clear that 50 percent threshold.
- 42:56Speaker 11: And we know this is all coming amid widespread criticism
- 42:59Speaker 11: of Karen Bass's handling of those fires in L.A. that
- 43:03Speaker 11: just devastated parts of the city.
- 43:04Speaker 5: The governor's race also still undecided. Excitement is building for
- 43:08Speaker 5: Game 1 of the NBA Finals. The San Antonio Spurs
- 43:10Speaker 5: hosting the New York Knicks. Tip-off now just a few
- 43:13Speaker 5: hours away. It's a repeat of the 1999 Finals between
- 43:17Speaker 5: both teams. You're listening to ABC News.
