Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to episode twenty two of Ravellio for
- 0:13Speaker 1: June twenty sixth, twenty twenty five.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I'm Amy, I'm Nicole, and I'm Tom.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Twenty two episodes. Where did the time go?
- 0:39Speaker 2: Twenty two?
- 0:43Speaker 3: Well, I was thinking it's almost about a year since
- 0:46Speaker 3: we started the podcast, like we're so close, which is.
- 0:49Speaker 1: I know, just think this time last year we were
- 0:52Speaker 1: like figuring out all the segments and like segment intros
- 0:58Speaker 1: you interessicm logo, Hm, hmmm crazy.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Look how far are we us?
- 1:07Speaker 1: Now?
- 1:10Speaker 3: That was not planned? By the way, Amy and I
- 1:12Speaker 3: just said the exact same thing, the exact same time.
- 1:18Speaker 3: That's what like, what like eight years of friendship will
- 1:20Speaker 3: get you.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Yes, we're just morphing into each other at this point.
- 1:26Speaker 2: You don't mean it's just a natural progression.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, swap us out. Yeah.
- 1:36Speaker 3: So in this episode, we're going to continue our deep
- 1:40Speaker 3: dive series into the Wizarding World theme parks. This time
- 1:44Speaker 3: we're going to be discussing the different versions of the
- 1:46Speaker 3: park around the world.
- 1:49Speaker 4: But first, listening to w W in the Wizarding Wireless Network.
- 1:59Speaker 4: Now for the latest headlines.
- 2:01Speaker 3: So big news again, the irony of you know our
- 2:07Speaker 3: last episode, I mentioned how news always seems to break
- 2:11Speaker 3: as soon as we're done recording, and uh lo and
- 2:14Speaker 3: behold that happened again this time.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Yep.
- 2:17Speaker 3: And as soon as I saw this, I immediately was
- 2:20Speaker 3: in our group chat like it happened again, sours.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Later, Right, it was the same day.
- 2:28Speaker 3: It's just I don't I think maybe we bring on
- 2:30Speaker 3: the news like I don't know what it is.
- 2:32Speaker 2: But it must be.
- 2:34Speaker 3: We'll see if it happens again after this recording.
- 2:37Speaker 2: But right, we're gonna get Neville and Nick.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Yes, we're calling it. Maybe Warner Brothers is listening to us,
- 2:46Speaker 3: you know, like we got it. We gotta time this.
- 2:48Speaker 3: But yeah, so more more casting news dropped right after
- 2:52Speaker 3: we were finished recording our last episode, so we got
- 2:56Speaker 3: quite a few of our side characters this time, so
- 3:02Speaker 3: we big chunk. Yeah. We learned that Molly Weasley will
- 3:07Speaker 3: be played by BAFTA winner Catherine Parkinson. Draco Malfoy will
- 3:12Speaker 3: be played by Lox Pratt, Lucius Malfoy will be played
- 3:15Speaker 3: by Johnny Flynn. Seamus Finagan will be played by Leo Early,
- 3:20Speaker 3: Pravadi Patil We played by Alesia Leoni, and Lavender Brown
- 3:25Speaker 3: will be played by Sienna Moosa, probably butchering names. But
- 3:30Speaker 3: we also got our Dursley's so Petunia Dursley will be
- 3:33Speaker 3: played by Belle Powley and Vernon Dursley will be played
- 3:36Speaker 3: by BAFTA winner Daniel Rigby. And then we also got
- 3:40Speaker 3: Cornelius Fudge, who will be played by Double Oliver and
- 3:43Speaker 3: Tony Award winner Bertie.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Carvel seamous is adorable, so cute, the freckles, Oh my gosh,
- 3:56Speaker 1: I can't.
- 3:58Speaker 2: And I think he's Irish, right, I.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Would believe it just even based on his looks. But yeah,
- 4:06Speaker 3: I think it's interesting too because we're getting like casting
- 4:09Speaker 3: announcements for people that wouldn't even really be in the
- 4:12Speaker 3: first season, like in Sorcerer's Stone, Yeah, which I think
- 4:16Speaker 3: is interesting. So it looks like they're just if they're
- 4:18Speaker 3: finding the person, they're just you know, casting them.
- 4:23Speaker 1: That's nice though, because like the students, like students that
- 4:28Speaker 1: like don't really have a role in the earlier books,
- 4:32Speaker 1: like the Petill Twins, like having them there from the
- 4:35Speaker 1: beginning looks that much more natural when they like inevitably
- 4:40Speaker 1: have lines and show up later, as opposed to just
- 4:43Speaker 1: like casting them later and being like Oh, here's this
- 4:46Speaker 1: new student, Like it's nice that they've cast them. Yeah,
- 4:49Speaker 1: so they can be in like those group scenes like
- 4:52Speaker 1: in the Great Hall and classes all that stuff.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Yeah, they get to because they get the complete source
- 5:00Speaker 2: material from the get go, So to them, it's like
- 5:03Speaker 2: much easier to cast these characters that they know are
- 5:06Speaker 2: going to have a much pivotal role down the line,
- 5:10Speaker 2: So it gives them a lot more to It also
- 5:12Speaker 2: is a lot a lot more work because they have
- 5:15Speaker 2: to be like great castings from the very beginning. Whereas
- 5:18Speaker 2: the films, you know, they were casting as the books
- 5:20Speaker 2: were coming out, so they were like, you know, depending
- 5:24Speaker 2: on which character was introduced in such book, they would
- 5:27Speaker 2: going to be casting that because you know, Lavender Brown
- 5:30Speaker 2: wasn't cast until haplat Prince, but now we have her
- 5:33Speaker 2: since the first season. And I think also the fact
- 5:36Speaker 2: that they were doing this is because they might potentially
- 5:39Speaker 2: want to go for back to back filming seasons one
- 5:43Speaker 2: and two. So I don't know, like we'll have to
- 5:48Speaker 2: wait and see. But it is interesting that Lucius and
- 5:52Speaker 2: well Molly does appear, but Lucius doesn't appear until the
- 5:55Speaker 2: second book, so that really kind of like in fudged too,
- 5:59Speaker 2: like it really raises questions and being like maybe they
- 6:02Speaker 2: are really doing this whole like back to back shooting,
- 6:05Speaker 2: and that makes you know they can get done maybe
- 6:08Speaker 2: eleven months. I think the actor who's playing Hagrid said
- 6:11Speaker 2: that it's going to be like roughly around ten or
- 6:14Speaker 2: eleven months of shooting, so yeah, we'll see.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that definitely makes sense just seeing like who they've cast,
- 6:22Speaker 1: like you said, like Lucius and Budge like it just it. Yeah,
- 6:27Speaker 1: I think that's probably exactly what they're doing, is the
- 6:30Speaker 1: back to back.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Mm hmmm, yeah, I guess. I'm Yeah, it's excited to
- 6:35Speaker 3: see who will get next because obviously we have some
- 6:38Speaker 3: hogwart students that are in that first you know, a
- 6:42Speaker 3: book that haven't been cast yet. And yeah, we'll see.
- 6:47Speaker 3: There's obviously been a lot of discourse online about our
- 6:50Speaker 3: Dursley is.
- 6:53Speaker 2: You know, we all seeming too hot?
- 6:55Speaker 3: Yeah, we also talked about it too, like am I
- 6:57Speaker 3: going to have like some weird conflicting thoughts about Vernon
- 7:00Speaker 3: Dursley that I never thought i'd have, you know, But
- 7:03Speaker 3: I think.
- 7:04Speaker 1: It's happened with Alvis, then it happened with and now
- 7:09Speaker 1: withs I would have never thought I here.
- 7:14Speaker 5: We are, Yeah, you're you're right, because it's like I
- 7:19Speaker 5: just you know, we we love you know, I stand
- 7:23Speaker 5: Jude Law as young Dumbledore, and I.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Growing up a certain type of way about Richard Coyle
- 7:28Speaker 1: as fo me too. I saw it coming.
- 7:32Speaker 3: No, you know, you think back to like growing up,
- 7:35Speaker 3: and you're like, man, these characters I grew up with,
- 7:38Speaker 3: and like now I'm having weird feelings about them in
- 7:41Speaker 3: their younger state. Like it's it's kind of so conflicting.
- 7:44Speaker 3: So maybe we were already primed for this, but I
- 7:47Speaker 3: think that I know, and we talked about this a
- 7:51Speaker 3: little bit in our group chat that a lot of
- 7:53Speaker 3: the other discourse I've seen online is just like they're
- 7:56Speaker 3: too young, and like they're actually not. And we talked
- 8:01Speaker 3: a lot about how, you know, the the films actually
- 8:05Speaker 3: really aged up all of our characters, and the Dursley's
- 8:09Speaker 3: actually would be in like their mid thirties, and like
- 8:13Speaker 3: I'm in my mid thirties, so like, you know, I
- 8:17Speaker 3: think that and I think two that makeup and everything
- 8:21Speaker 3: will be really good. And I saw some like AI
- 8:24Speaker 3: mock ups and stuff of like what you know, Daniel
- 8:29Speaker 3: could look like as Vernon and they could do it.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Once you get them in costume and yeah, he's like, yeah,
- 8:38Speaker 1: he's in his uptight office guy apparel. Like it'll work. Yeah.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Yeah, So yeah, but yeah, they're they're they're quite attractive
- 8:50Speaker 3: for the Dursley. So we'll see, you know, we'll see
- 8:53Speaker 3: what happens here. Up my god. Yeah, it's just very strange,
- 8:58Speaker 3: but but I I'm excited. I feel like with every
- 9:01Speaker 3: like I think we've said this before, but like with
- 9:03Speaker 3: every casting that we get, like everything just seems like
- 9:06Speaker 3: more real. And I'm so excited to see everybody, like
- 9:09Speaker 3: in costume, like in action, because especially, like you know,
- 9:13Speaker 3: we've talked about, I still have some reservations you know,
- 9:16Speaker 3: about the show, and so I think actually getting to
- 9:20Speaker 3: see people and everything will make it just more more real. Yeah,
- 9:27Speaker 3: we'll see who gets cast next.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:33Speaker 3: In other news, we also learned that not one, but
- 9:37Speaker 3: two new official Harry Potter shops are going to be
- 9:40Speaker 3: opening in Japan this summer. So Harry Potter Shop hard
- 9:44Speaker 3: Juku will be opening in Tokyo in August twenty twenty five.
- 9:48Speaker 3: So we talked a little bit when the Harry Potter
- 9:51Speaker 3: Chicago opened that they're kind of doing different theming for
- 9:55Speaker 3: each shop that's opening, which I think is so cool
- 9:57Speaker 3: because it keeps it fresh and different, especially if you, you know,
- 10:00Speaker 3: have the chance to visit more than one of them.
- 10:03Speaker 3: So the interior for the Harajuku shop will be the
- 10:07Speaker 3: Forbidden Forest, which I actually love this theme. And this
- 10:13Speaker 3: is very fitting because where they're putting this store is
- 10:16Speaker 3: along like a historic tree line path extending from a park,
- 10:21Speaker 3: and so it's kind of just like this extension, like
- 10:23Speaker 3: you kind of are already in this forest vibe walking
- 10:27Speaker 3: up to the store.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I like that.
- 10:29Speaker 1: So I think another reason we got to take a
- 10:31Speaker 1: field trip to Japan.
- 10:33Speaker 2: We have to at this mandatory.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Yes, there is no I think between all the Harry
- 10:40Speaker 3: Potter stuff in Japan, all the Disney stuff in Japan,
- 10:45Speaker 3: Like I actually want to see Japan too, but like
- 10:48Speaker 3: there's so much great fandom stuff there that it's like, yeah,
- 10:51Speaker 3: it's non negotiable at this point that I have to
- 10:53Speaker 3: get over.
- 10:53Speaker 2: At some point, maybe we get a couple of Warner
- 10:57Speaker 2: Brothers invites in the future, Warner.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Brothers, you're listening, we would love to cover the opening
- 11:02Speaker 3: of these store. Maybe not this store. It's in a
- 11:04Speaker 3: couple of months. But in the future, any events you know.
- 11:09Speaker 5: We would love to we are available, yes and ready
- 11:13Speaker 5: well clearer calendars yes.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
- 11:18Speaker 3: And then there's actually going to be another store that
- 11:21Speaker 3: there's a Wizarding World Street store already that's going to
- 11:25Speaker 3: be closing on June twenty ninth and reopening on July
- 11:28Speaker 3: seventeenth as Harry Potter Shop Akasaka. So it's actually it
- 11:33Speaker 3: seems like it's going to be another one of these
- 11:35Speaker 3: official stores.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Interesting yea, so it was already an official store, I
- 11:41Speaker 1: don't think so.
- 11:42Speaker 3: I don't know. I was going to Google this, like
- 11:45Speaker 3: when I saw it in the article, I was like, huh,
- 11:51Speaker 3: I wonder like what this what this store was to
- 11:54Speaker 3: I'm going.
- 11:54Speaker 2: To actually pull it up store.
- 11:57Speaker 3: It could be. I don't think it's super unofficial because
- 12:00Speaker 3: like they're because I think they're artificial merch Yes, so okay,
- 12:05Speaker 3: So Google tells me that the Maha Do gor Akasaka
- 12:11Speaker 3: Wizarding World Street is a themed area in Akasaka, Tokyo,
- 12:16Speaker 3: designed to evoke the atmosphere of the Harry Potter universe.
- 12:19Speaker 3: It features the Harry Potter Store and the Harry Potter Cafe,
- 12:24Speaker 3: both of which are popular destinations for fans visiting Japan.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Cool. So, yeah, where else will you get a Harry
- 12:34Speaker 2: Potter cafe? Like, we have to go to Japan and
- 12:37Speaker 2: we have to experience that well.
- 12:39Speaker 3: And I'm wondering what's going to happen now because I
- 12:41Speaker 3: think that themed cafe was part of this store. So
- 12:44Speaker 3: I'm thinking now they're just going to turn that part
- 12:47Speaker 3: into the butter beer area that's in all the stores already.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Oh interesting that the candy counter type thing, pastries and stuff.
- 12:57Speaker 3: That would be cool if they could keep it like
- 13:00Speaker 3: the cafe, Like Google says that it's a themed cafe.
- 13:04Speaker 3: There's magical themed food and drinks, and the interior is
- 13:07Speaker 3: designed to resemble Wizards Inner Library. So I don't think
- 13:10Speaker 3: it's actually an official Maybe it's just been really successful
- 13:15Speaker 3: and so the official powers that be are like, we're
- 13:18Speaker 3: going to make the store official, yeah, because it doesn't Yeah,
- 13:24Speaker 3: it doesn't look like but yeah, so exciting for those
- 13:28Speaker 3: that are in the Tokyo area. Lots of stuff coming.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Yeah. H So.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Also since we recorded last, we talked about Tom Felton's
- 13:38Speaker 3: return to the character of Draco malfoy on in Cursed Child.
- 13:43Speaker 3: On Broadway, and after we recorded, tickets for this went
- 13:49Speaker 3: on sale. There was pre sale tickets and then general sale,
- 13:55Speaker 3: and a lot of people signed up for the pre
- 13:58Speaker 3: sale tickets. I was sixty six thousandth in the line
- 14:05Speaker 3: and waited over six hours. It felt like, you know,
- 14:08Speaker 3: I wasn't I wasn't part of like the Eras tour
- 14:11Speaker 3: like ticket you know thing, but it felt kind of
- 14:14Speaker 3: like the Great War of Eras tour tickets and yeah,
- 14:20Speaker 3: you know, and but at least there.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Were plenty of seats available.
- 14:24Speaker 3: There's plenty of seats available. Yeah, So, like I said,
- 14:26Speaker 3: I waited over I mean it was probably more like
- 14:28Speaker 3: seven hours. I had the queue kind of just running
- 14:31Speaker 3: in the background while I was working, and I was
- 14:35Speaker 3: able to get tickets for me and Amy to see
- 14:38Speaker 3: Tom in November. I will say, like, if you go
- 14:44Speaker 3: on now, there's still like there was really no need
- 14:46Speaker 3: to wait six hours. But it was fun and it's
- 14:49Speaker 3: part of the experience, and it just feels like a
- 14:51Speaker 3: fandom event.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I wanted those weekend dates, which were going pretty quick, So.
- 14:56Speaker 3: Yes, that's what I was going to say. By the
- 14:58Speaker 3: time I got in, like weekends were pretty like more
- 15:03Speaker 3: more limited, but even once you got in, there was
- 15:06Speaker 3: still a lot of tickets. I do think that a
- 15:08Speaker 3: lot of people were trying when I was looking at
- 15:10Speaker 3: different maps, like a lot of people were trying to
- 15:12Speaker 3: get like orchestra seats and closer seats, you know, so
- 15:14Speaker 3: they catch me time, right, I just want to be
- 15:18Speaker 3: in the room where it happens, like, I don't need
- 15:20Speaker 3: to be like, you know, spending Fortunately, I don't want
- 15:23Speaker 3: six hundred dollars on tickets.
- 15:24Speaker 1: With the yeah budget, yeah, yeah, And.
- 15:27Speaker 3: I will say they definitely like increased the price of
- 15:31Speaker 3: tickets for this, which completely understandable. I definitely Amy and
- 15:36Speaker 3: I are sitting in a very similar spot that we
- 15:39Speaker 3: sat a couple of years ago when we went, and
- 15:42Speaker 3: the tickets are definitely like probably like one hundred dollars
- 15:45Speaker 3: more than they were, So not surprised. But yeah, there's
- 15:50Speaker 3: still lots of tickets available again that like his very
- 15:54Speaker 3: first show, and weekends and everything are a bit more limited.
- 15:59Speaker 3: And because because there was such unprecedented demand, I don't
- 16:03Speaker 3: know who thought it was going to be unprecedented, but
- 16:05Speaker 3: that's what the official channel said that due to this
- 16:08Speaker 3: unprecedented demand, they announced that they're extending his run through May.
- 16:13Speaker 3: So now there's even more tickets all, yes, so I'm
- 16:17Speaker 3: hoping maybe I'll get to be able to go back again.
- 16:20Speaker 3: I started thinking though, like, you know, there's a lot
- 16:24Speaker 3: of shows every week, and like, gosh, is he actually
- 16:27Speaker 3: going to be in all of these? Right?
- 16:29Speaker 1: That'd be awful? And he was like outset.
- 16:36Speaker 3: I know, oh god, yeah, especially.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Well.
- 16:41Speaker 3: I didn't even think of it really until I started
- 16:44Speaker 3: seeing people talk about that online, like what if I
- 16:46Speaker 3: go and he's not you know, but I think.
- 16:48Speaker 1: That and they've jacked up the price.
- 16:51Speaker 3: I know, I think that given the whole situation. Obviously,
- 16:57Speaker 3: illness and stuff happens, right like, so there there is
- 17:00Speaker 3: a chance that you might go and find out that
- 17:02Speaker 3: the understudy is there.
- 17:04Speaker 1: But the understudies are always amazing, but it's still good
- 17:07Speaker 1: disappointing when you're like going to see the specific person.
- 17:11Speaker 3: Right, So I mean, we'll see what happens with that.
- 17:15Speaker 3: I'm glad we got tickets in November because I feel
- 17:17Speaker 3: like that's it's right at the beginning. I think we're
- 17:19Speaker 3: going it's like the second weekend or something like that
- 17:22Speaker 3: of it, I think it's more likely. But yeah, on
- 17:24Speaker 3: the weekends there's two shows, and you know, Broadway actors
- 17:29Speaker 3: are very used to that, you know, because it's what
- 17:31Speaker 3: they do. But a lot of times they do take
- 17:34Speaker 3: certain days off and the understudy is that show and everything.
- 17:37Speaker 3: So I'm really curious to see, especially them with them
- 17:39Speaker 3: extending his run now, like what that actually ends up
- 17:43Speaker 3: looking like?
- 17:45Speaker 2: Yeah, so I hadn't thought about that. Interesting.
- 17:49Speaker 3: I wish I didn't think about it. I'm kind of nervous,
- 17:54Speaker 3: but it's also just realistic. So you know, if you're
- 17:57Speaker 3: listening to this and you got tickets to the show
- 17:59Speaker 3: and you're so excited and everything you do have to have,
- 18:02Speaker 3: I think that you know, it's not it's you know,
- 18:07Speaker 3: if we want to compare it to the Eras tour, right,
- 18:09Speaker 3: like you know, Taylor did have some gaps in between
- 18:12Speaker 3: her cities to rest, and on Broadway, you really don't.
- 18:15Speaker 3: You're doing six shows a week or sometimes like that.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Like it's it's a lot.
- 18:20Speaker 1: So and I guess just like setting your expectations that
- 18:23Speaker 1: that could happen. But even if it does happen, you're
- 18:27Speaker 1: going to see an amazing show anyway.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Exactly, mm hmm, exactly. So yeah, hopefully I'm not jinxing
- 18:36Speaker 3: this for us, Amy, I think we'll be good. We're
- 18:40Speaker 3: going early enough in the run that I think will
- 18:42Speaker 3: be good.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Yea, the best luck in the world, Nicole. So we
- 18:46Speaker 1: don't we don't know.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Maybe we need to go in with the expectation that
- 18:53Speaker 3: he won't be there and then we'll be like, oh
- 18:58Speaker 3: my god, Tom Felton's here, just.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Like you know what would make up for it, I mean,
- 19:02Speaker 2: kind of make up for it if they were like, Okay,
- 19:04Speaker 2: you know Tom is not going to be able to
- 19:06Speaker 2: make it to today's show, but we're going to have
- 19:07Speaker 2: someone filling in for the role of Ginny, and we're
- 19:10Speaker 2: going to have Bonnie Wright joining us tonight.
- 19:13Speaker 1: That'll be mean, yes, yes, it's not bad. It'll be
- 19:18Speaker 1: just like driving to Toronto for the Airs tour, not
- 19:21Speaker 1: booking a hotel because in our minds we're telling ourselves
- 19:24Speaker 1: that we might be driving home.
- 19:26Speaker 3: I mean, we didn't even have tickets until fifteen minutes
- 19:30Speaker 3: before the show, and look at us we got in.
- 19:32Speaker 3: We had amazing seats. We were there.
- 19:36Speaker 1: So we just have to go in with the mindset
- 19:38Speaker 1: of we might be turning around disappointed, not really, because.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Well, we still get to see the show. Yes, but yes, yes, yes,
- 19:47Speaker 3: but it'll be good. It'll be good.
- 19:48Speaker 1: We're excited.
- 19:49Speaker 3: I think like stage door is probably going to be
- 19:51Speaker 3: absolutely insane because everyone's gonna want to meet Tom. Yeah,
- 19:56Speaker 3: and yeah I did see online there was some people
- 19:59Speaker 3: on TikTok that were like before the pre sale that
- 20:04Speaker 3: we're talking about, like here's the seat you want to
- 20:06Speaker 3: try to buy if you want to try to do
- 20:07Speaker 3: stage door after your show, because they're like orchestra like
- 20:11Speaker 3: near the exit so you can kind of quickly exit.
- 20:14Speaker 1: And I'm sure people will already be out there who
- 20:17Speaker 1: weren't even in the show. Well, I was going to say,
- 20:19Speaker 1: I think I did that for Dan when he.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Was in I did that too.
- 20:23Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, oh I met him at stage door with
- 20:26Speaker 3: how to Succeed, and mine actually was after my show.
- 20:29Speaker 3: We got really lucky. But I think that I will
- 20:32Speaker 3: say that when I met when I saw the original
- 20:35Speaker 3: cast in London, I did get to meet them all
- 20:39Speaker 3: like at the stage door, and I feel like I
- 20:42Speaker 3: didn't do it at my show. I feel like I
- 20:46Speaker 3: was in London for the weekend and I went the
- 20:49Speaker 3: day before my show or the day after. I must
- 20:51Speaker 3: have been the day after my show, because I had
- 20:52Speaker 3: a program.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I didn't. I did stage door the first time I
- 20:58Speaker 1: saw christ Child on Broadway, which you went with me, right,
- 21:04Speaker 1: so you did that one too?
- 21:06Speaker 2: No?
- 21:06Speaker 1: No, oh, I guess you did. Go huh. Yeah, so
- 21:13Speaker 1: I did it the first time. And actually Paul Thornley,
- 21:18Speaker 1: who was Ron, was in the lobby as people were exiting,
- 21:21Speaker 1: doing autographs and taking photos and stuff, and then like
- 21:24Speaker 1: a few other cast members were out stage dooring.
- 21:28Speaker 3: But yeah, and I we'll have to see we're going
- 21:30Speaker 3: on a Sunday, so maybe like the Saturday show, maybe
- 21:34Speaker 3: we might have to like stage door. But the problem
- 21:36Speaker 3: with that is, like you don't have the program at
- 21:40Speaker 3: that point. You like have to go after your show
- 21:43Speaker 3: so that you have the program, right, Like I don't
- 21:46Speaker 3: want him to sign just my already program, Like I
- 21:48Speaker 3: want him to sign the program that he's listed in
- 21:50Speaker 3: as being Draco.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:51Speaker 2: There has been instances where the security guards outside give
- 21:55Speaker 2: you a program. We've been lucky, like a couple of
- 21:58Speaker 2: times when we went there and they to hand us
- 22:01Speaker 2: a couple of like programs even though we didn't we
- 22:03Speaker 2: weren't at the show. I never I never saw Dan's show,
- 22:05Speaker 2: but I did stay out waiting for him. So maybe
- 22:10Speaker 2: maybe you get one.
- 22:12Speaker 1: You could like print out your ticket confirmation too. That'd
- 22:16Speaker 1: be kind of a cool thing to get a signed
- 22:18Speaker 1: I have.
- 22:18Speaker 2: I mean, it's not the same as a program, but.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Yeah, or the actual ticket I miss getting like the
- 22:23Speaker 3: actual ticket. That's that's true.
- 22:27Speaker 2: That's even better.
- 22:28Speaker 1: I have a like Harry Potter notebook that's got blank
- 22:33Speaker 1: pages and that's been my autograph scrap book for like
- 22:37Speaker 1: everybody that I've met. I have like one page has
- 22:40Speaker 1: the picture if we got a picture, the other page
- 22:42Speaker 1: has the autograph. So that's where my Dan rad.
- 22:44Speaker 2: I need to show us that, yes, we need that
- 22:47Speaker 2: on our socials please. I know.
- 22:51Speaker 3: I ended up getting my autograph from Dan is like
- 22:53Speaker 3: a big poster from How to Succeed because like where
- 22:57Speaker 3: I was, I bought the poster because like where I
- 22:59Speaker 3: was standing, I kind of just had to like you know,
- 23:01Speaker 3: shove it over so he would sign it. And now
- 23:04Speaker 3: it's kind of like I don't have it hanging. I
- 23:05Speaker 3: just kind of have it, you know, rolled up. But
- 23:09Speaker 3: I wish I had a smaller like autograph from him.
- 23:12Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, when I did, when I saw How
- 23:15Speaker 1: to Succeed, I went to the matinee and he didn't
- 23:18Speaker 1: stage door matinee, so I didn't see him then. But
- 23:22Speaker 1: then when he was in Lifespan of ef Fact, it
- 23:24Speaker 1: was well. I was at New York come Con, so
- 23:27Speaker 1: I went and stage doored and he was awesome, Like
- 23:30Speaker 1: he did not leave until he saw every single person,
- 23:33Speaker 1: and he said that when he came out, he was like,
- 23:36Speaker 1: there's no need to like push, no need to like
- 23:39Speaker 1: try and brush, I'm gonna see every single one of you, like,
- 23:42Speaker 1: don't worry about it, and he like signed everything.
- 23:45Speaker 3: It was awesome, so I could see it being like
- 23:48Speaker 3: that too. So I've had the pleasure of meeting Tom
- 23:54Speaker 3: I when I worked for Muggle Matt. I went to
- 23:57Speaker 3: a press event for when Hagrid's roll poster was going
- 24:02Speaker 3: to be opening and had a lovely interaction with Tom
- 24:06Speaker 3: and he was a little, uh little a little drunk,
- 24:10Speaker 3: I think in the elevator and after we were leaving
- 24:15Speaker 3: the event and I was wearing I have this like
- 24:17Speaker 3: button up shirt and the collar has like when Guardian
- 24:20Speaker 3: Leviosa like embroidered on it, and he got really close
- 24:23Speaker 3: to me to like read it like like and I
- 24:26Speaker 3: just was like so like wow, I can't believe he's
- 24:28Speaker 3: in my personal space right now. I just commented so
- 24:31Speaker 3: much about how he loved the shirt. So that was
- 24:35Speaker 3: a fun interaction. So I don't have his I don't
- 24:37Speaker 3: have a picture with him, or I don't have like
- 24:39Speaker 3: an autograph I come from him. But yes, I have
- 24:42Speaker 3: met him. I have met him, and I had a
- 24:44Speaker 3: very personal experience. I mean an elevator no less.
- 24:48Speaker 2: So I yeah, yeah, I got to meet Alan Rickman.
- 24:52Speaker 2: That was a huge milestone for me back in New York.
- 24:57Speaker 2: And I remember he was signing autographs and I wanted
- 24:59Speaker 2: to take self so bad and I was like, hey, Allen,
- 25:01Speaker 2: can I take a selfie? And he responded to me
- 25:03Speaker 2: like in the best snape ironically way, like he was like, well,
- 25:07Speaker 2: do you have me here? Take a picture. I was like, okay,
- 25:10Speaker 2: I love you. And I took a picture and it
- 25:12Speaker 2: was like me he was just like signing autograph and
- 25:14Speaker 2: then he left with a bouquet of flowers and he
- 25:16Speaker 2: crossed the street and he walked all alone. Such a
- 25:20Speaker 2: humble such a humble man. Oh it was such a
- 25:23Speaker 2: precious moment and I'm I'm so glad I got that
- 25:26Speaker 2: little moment. Yes, it's it's definitely a standout.
- 25:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:33Speaker 1: I interviewed Tom at New York Comic Con that same
- 25:37Speaker 1: weekend that I did the dance stage door, and it
- 25:40Speaker 1: was actually funny because he told me during our interview
- 25:43Speaker 1: round table, He's like, oh, yeah, like, I'm actually going
- 25:47Speaker 1: to see Dan tonight at his show. So then we're
- 25:50Speaker 1: at the stage door, I'm talking to Dan. I'm like, yeah, so,
- 25:55Speaker 1: how was it seeing Tom? And I was like, oh, like,
- 26:02Speaker 1: who are you that?
- 26:03Speaker 3: You know?
- 26:03Speaker 1: The earlier?
- 26:06Speaker 2: So good?
- 26:06Speaker 3: Were just hanging out with Tom. Earlier we went and
- 26:08Speaker 3: got lunch, you know, we were talking about coming to
- 26:11Speaker 3: see tonight. Yeah, it'd be funny.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Yeah, funny.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Dan and Emma and Ripper have to go to see
- 26:17Speaker 2: Tom for sure, even like Emma is a good friend
- 26:20Speaker 2: of Tom, so I wouldn't be surprised if she makes
- 26:22Speaker 2: it there. It's fun. I can't wait to see what happens.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Yes, you're gonna get good content, Yes, yes.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Well enough of our rant.
- 26:32Speaker 2: I love that. Yeah, but I love that we all
- 26:35Speaker 2: have those little stories. So nice.
- 26:39Speaker 3: But yeah, So if you're still looking to get there
- 26:41Speaker 3: are still plenty of tickets available for sure, And like
- 26:45Speaker 3: I said, it's been extended into may you know, twenty
- 26:48Speaker 3: twenty six now, so plenty of opportunities, especially during the week.
- 26:52Speaker 3: There's a lot of availability, you know, during the week.
- 26:55Speaker 3: I think his like first show and the last show,
- 26:58Speaker 3: those ones are quick to go. But yeah, definitely check
- 27:02Speaker 3: out Kirshchild dot com if you are looking to go
- 27:04Speaker 3: see it. And also just go see it. It's such
- 27:07Speaker 3: a great play. Even though we've talked about how the
- 27:09Speaker 3: story might have some issues, it's such a beautiful show.
- 27:14Speaker 3: So and then also Harry Potter dot Com which should
- 27:21Speaker 3: still be Wizardingworld dot com but it's now Harry Potter
- 27:25Speaker 3: dot Com has refreshed user profiles. And this is really
- 27:29Speaker 3: cool because if you've never made like a user, which
- 27:33Speaker 3: if you've gone on you know it was Potter Moore
- 27:36Speaker 3: before and Harry Potter and like done the sorting test
- 27:38Speaker 3: and all of that, you probably have an account on
- 27:41Speaker 3: this website. But a few years ago. Now I feel
- 27:45Speaker 3: like they introduce where you can design your own like
- 27:48Speaker 3: user profile, and it's so cool. It's like you can
- 27:50Speaker 3: create like an avatar that looks like you, and there's
- 27:53Speaker 3: all these different like clothing items and accessories and like
- 27:59Speaker 3: magical backgrounds, and I always love going in and just
- 28:02Speaker 3: changing mine up, and it's just it's really fun and
- 28:04Speaker 3: it's a great way to personalize your profile. So they
- 28:07Speaker 3: actually recently refreshed these profiles so you can now share
- 28:11Speaker 3: your profile like publicly, and you can also see other
- 28:15Speaker 3: people's profiles, which is cool and see how people designed
- 28:18Speaker 3: their you know, a little avatar. And what's really nice
- 28:22Speaker 3: is that even if you make your profile public, you
- 28:25Speaker 3: can only see other people's like initials, so it still
- 28:29Speaker 3: keeps it really private, so your full name isn't out there.
- 28:32Speaker 3: There's no reason like and this is great too because
- 28:35Speaker 3: there's I'm sure there's like younger kids and miners and
- 28:37Speaker 3: stuff that are on the website, so I'm really glad
- 28:40Speaker 3: that they did this. You can have it be public
- 28:42Speaker 3: but not have your full name out there. You'll also
- 28:45Speaker 3: be able to go into other people's like profile and
- 28:48Speaker 3: see their house, their patronas, so it's really cool and
- 28:53Speaker 3: it is a feature that you can either opt in
- 28:55Speaker 3: or out opt out of in settings. But yeah, I
- 28:59Speaker 3: super recommend and creating a profile if you haven't. And
- 29:03Speaker 3: they're always adding new like outfits and new accessories and
- 29:06Speaker 3: new backgrounds, and there's some new actually speaking of Revellio,
- 29:11Speaker 3: there is a new feature now too where I don't
- 29:16Speaker 3: know how you get the clues. I just randomly had
- 29:19Speaker 3: the clue the initial clue there. But you can find
- 29:23Speaker 3: clues somehow and it unlocks like even more accessories and
- 29:27Speaker 3: different things a profile, and the first clue is revelliov Well,
- 29:36Speaker 3: I know, and like Revellio and specialis Revello have such
- 29:39Speaker 3: a prominent place in the theme parks now it's the it's
- 29:43Speaker 3: one of the new the new spells in Ministry of Magic.
- 29:49Speaker 3: Some more to come on that because I'm going to
- 29:52Speaker 3: get content of that. Yeah.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Yeah, one listeners.
- 29:57Speaker 3: And I'm fine with that.
- 29:59Speaker 2: You know, as long as they listened to us every
- 30:02Speaker 2: once in a while.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Exact yes, yes, so yeah, so Jed. That was just
- 30:07Speaker 3: a little piece of last minute news that I saw
- 30:10Speaker 3: that Harry Potter dot com put out in their official
- 30:14Speaker 3: official things.
- 30:15Speaker 2: So yeah, kind of takes me back to Potter more
- 30:19Speaker 2: days when we had to we had these user names.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Mine was like Fireball Seeker something. I remember. You could
- 30:26Speaker 2: add people, Yeah, and you could add people. You could
- 30:28Speaker 2: see I think you could see their houses and their
- 30:30Speaker 2: wan types and everything. I think they probably took the
- 30:32Speaker 2: idea from pottermore wanted to integrate that back in, which
- 30:35Speaker 2: I think is really really cool.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Yeah, very cool. Yeah. And then just one last thing
- 30:43Speaker 1: for a news segment. This is Revellio related news. So
- 30:47Speaker 1: our friends over at three Broomsticks Podcast had me on
- 30:50Speaker 1: for their latest episode on which we discussed if Harry
- 30:54Speaker 1: Potter was a roum come and all sorts of shenanigans ensued.
- 31:00Speaker 1: So we had a lot of fun coming up with treatments,
- 31:03Speaker 1: romcom treatments for it, what this could look like, how
- 31:07Speaker 1: the plot would need to change, if main characters would
- 31:10Speaker 1: need to shift around, and of course pairings that we
- 31:14Speaker 1: thought would make really great rom com stories. So you
- 31:20Speaker 1: can check it out on their website which is three
- 31:23Speaker 1: broomstickspod dot com, and we'll link it in the show
- 31:26Speaker 1: notes as well, but you can also search them up
- 31:28Speaker 1: on any podcast app and they should appear. So thanks
- 31:33Speaker 1: for having me, guys. It was super fun. So yeah,
- 31:37Speaker 1: and that's all for the news.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Okay, So for today our main discussion, we're going into
- 31:45Speaker 2: part three of our theme park adventure. And in our
- 31:50Speaker 2: last episode, last actually couple of episodes, we covered everything
- 31:54Speaker 2: Wizarding World Orlando, so we thought it would be a
- 31:57Speaker 2: good idea to tap into other Wizarding world the parks
- 32:00Speaker 2: scattered across the globe and discuss not only what they
- 32:03Speaker 2: have in common, but also what sets them apart, as
- 32:06Speaker 2: each of them have unique features. But first, I just
- 32:09Speaker 2: wanted to quickly dig a little into the story of
- 32:13Speaker 2: Universal Wizarding World of Harry Potter Universal Hollywood. So back
- 32:18Speaker 2: in December one, twenty eleven, the Wall Street Journal broke
- 32:22Speaker 2: some thrilling news for Harry Potter fans. So, according to sources,
- 32:26Speaker 2: Universal Studios Hollywood were preparing to bring its own version
- 32:30Speaker 2: of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which obviously had
- 32:33Speaker 2: already been a huge hit at Islands of Adventure in Orlando.
- 32:38Speaker 2: And they also hinted at even more magical expansions, with
- 32:43Speaker 2: possible Harry Potter themed areas being considered for Universal Studios
- 32:47Speaker 2: to Singapore, Universal Students Japan, and even a potential location
- 32:52Speaker 2: in Spain. And actually, Universal Studios Singapore does not have
- 32:57Speaker 2: Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Yeah. I don't know if
- 33:02Speaker 2: it's because maybe they have it already in Beijing, but
- 33:06Speaker 2: I don't even know what the distance is. But yeah,
- 33:10Speaker 2: they it's the newest one, So I don't know if
- 33:13Speaker 2: it's like Beijing is the latest one, So I don't know.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Maybe they will add it in the future, but yeah,
- 33:20Speaker 2: so just a couple, you know. Within a few days,
- 33:23Speaker 2: on December sixth, Universal Students Hollywood officially confirmed the rumors
- 33:28Speaker 2: and announced The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal
- 33:31Speaker 2: Students Hollywood. This meant that the Gibson Amphitheater would be
- 33:37Speaker 2: demolished to make way for recreation of Howard's Castle and
- 33:40Speaker 2: the iconic ride Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. So
- 33:44Speaker 2: for those who are probably not who might not be
- 33:47Speaker 2: aware of what the Gibson Amphitheater was, it was a
- 33:49Speaker 2: place that hosted a lot of events from concerts to
- 33:52Speaker 2: even the Country Music Awards, and it was a pretty
- 33:56Speaker 2: popular attraction attraction in La So yeah, another thing like
- 34:02Speaker 2: gets demolished to give birth to something Harry Potter. So yeah,
- 34:09Speaker 2: And the Gibson Amphitheater held its final show on September sixth,
- 34:14Speaker 2: twenty thirteen, and was soon after torn down to begin
- 34:18Speaker 2: construction on Howard's Castle. So moving on, you know, fast
- 34:23Speaker 2: forward to December eighth, twenty fifteen. The official opening date
- 34:29Speaker 2: was revealed April seventh, twenty sixteen, and we got to
- 34:34Speaker 2: see actress Evada Lynch, who portrayed Luna love Good, helped
- 34:39Speaker 2: make the announcement alongside Alan Gilmore, and he was the
- 34:42Speaker 2: art director of several of the Harry Potter films and
- 34:45Speaker 2: also the theme parks and it was nice to nice
- 34:48Speaker 2: little YouTube video. And so after that, the Wizarding World
- 34:56Speaker 2: of Harry Potter Japan opened on July fifteen, four fourteen,
- 35:00Speaker 2: and Osaka. And there's more because on September twenty, twenty
- 35:07Speaker 2: twenty one, Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened in Beijing,
- 35:10Speaker 2: China as part of Phase one of Universal Beijing Resort.
- 35:16Speaker 2: So that's a little bit about the timeline of these parks.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Lots of parks, lots of openings. Yeah, so we have
- 35:24Speaker 2: plenty of Wizarding World theme parks to explore.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Oh yes, I'd love to get to all of them someday.
- 35:31Speaker 2: Yeah. So we've gone over the theme parks and some of
- 35:37Speaker 2: the opening dates, but now it's time to dive into
- 35:41Speaker 2: the heart of today's topic, which is how these Wizdom
- 35:45Speaker 2: worlds are actually different from one another. So you know,
- 35:48Speaker 2: at first glance they might seem nearly identical, and to
- 35:51Speaker 2: be fair, the experience, the core experience, is consistent, but
- 35:56Speaker 2: each park has its own unique touches. So some of
- 35:59Speaker 2: the references are pretty subtle, while others stand out very
- 36:03Speaker 2: easily because they're right in front of you. So we're
- 36:06Speaker 2: gonna begin with starting a little bit about what these
- 36:09Speaker 2: parks have in common. So obviously we have a full
- 36:12Speaker 2: sized replica of Hawksmeat and Hogwarts Castle. That's the same
- 36:16Speaker 2: in all the parks. The stores are the same, the
- 36:20Speaker 2: model of Hogwarts is the same. You're not gonna get
- 36:22Speaker 2: an extra tower in any of the parks or any variations.
- 36:26Speaker 2: It's literally the same blueprint they used for all the parks.
- 36:31Speaker 2: They do include like the Forbidding Journey ride and Flight
- 36:35Speaker 2: of the Hippogriff rides, and of course they have interactive
- 36:39Speaker 2: ones with interactive maps across the park and also the
- 36:45Speaker 2: famous Olivanders show at his shop. So I was just wondering, yeah,
- 36:52Speaker 2: for quite a bit.
- 36:54Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what, maybe they're not gonna listen to
- 36:56Speaker 3: our suggestion of changing it to a different shop because then, well,
- 37:00Speaker 3: you know what, they can because they only really need
- 37:03Speaker 3: to do that in Orlando, because Orlando is the only
- 37:06Speaker 3: park that actually has real olive and anders in diagon
- 37:11Speaker 3: Alley and they can leave it in all these other parks.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and this old you know, the interactive
- 37:20Speaker 2: WAND spot made me think, like, I'm not sure, do
- 37:23Speaker 2: we have unique spots to Caspels Maybe depending on where
- 37:28Speaker 2: you are, like what park you visit. I'm not sure
- 37:31Speaker 2: if they all are the same spots.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Well, I think now we do, because now with the
- 37:36Speaker 3: introduction of the second generation WAND in Orlando, they added
- 37:40Speaker 3: some new spots in Hogsmeade.
- 37:43Speaker 1: But I think there are different spots in Hollywood versus Orlando.
- 37:51Speaker 1: I'm remembering correctly because that's the only other one I've
- 37:55Speaker 1: been to, is the Hollywood one. I'm pretty sure there
- 37:59Speaker 1: were different spots.
- 38:01Speaker 2: Mm hmm. Can you think of any favorites?
- 38:06Speaker 1: Gosh, I didn't. The Hollywood one is a blur because
- 38:11Speaker 1: I was only there for like a couple hours. In Orlando,
- 38:21Speaker 1: I really like the the ballet trolls in it's I
- 38:30Speaker 1: think it's like a toy shop window, but it's right
- 38:32Speaker 1: next to Florian's. That one's really cute.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 38:42Speaker 3: I think my favorites are to be determined because some
- 38:46Speaker 3: of the new ones, and some of the new I
- 38:48Speaker 3: actually they look so cool. I actually think the Revellio
- 38:52Speaker 3: one might end up being my favorite because the Demi
- 38:56Speaker 3: Guys is my favorite magical creature and spoil or alert.
- 39:01Speaker 3: When you do the Revellio spell in the New Wizarding Paris,
- 39:05Speaker 3: you Revellio up, but Demi Guys. So I just have
- 39:09Speaker 3: a feeling that I'm really going to enjoy that. And
- 39:12Speaker 3: also some of the new second generation spells. I'm excited
- 39:17Speaker 3: to get my hand on that second generation wand.
- 39:21Speaker 1: Some of this.
- 39:22Speaker 3: I was going to say, the new both new spells
- 39:25Speaker 3: in Nocturnale, and I can confirm that they do look
- 39:29Speaker 3: great because I think I had mentioned when I was
- 39:31Speaker 3: there last I was walking through Nocturnale when someone was
- 39:33Speaker 3: doing the patronas, so I think those are really cool.
- 39:36Speaker 3: So I think they've definitely these new spells seem so exciting,
- 39:40Speaker 3: and it's like just exciting to see that this has
- 39:43Speaker 3: been a like I don't know how to say it,
- 39:47Speaker 3: like an aspect of the parks for so long and
- 39:50Speaker 3: they're still finding ways to innovate it and make it
- 39:54Speaker 3: even cooler. I think we talked about this too in
- 39:58Speaker 3: like one episode that it's like it helps to also
- 40:02Speaker 3: just with the re repeatability of it, you know, I
- 40:06Speaker 3: think especially so, I think it'd be interesting to see
- 40:09Speaker 3: if this second generation want technology like expands like beyond Orlando,
- 40:14Speaker 3: and what that'll look like in all of these other parks,
- 40:16Speaker 3: especially because they probably I don't know if they have
- 40:20Speaker 3: the room to add because I'm obviously I've never been
- 40:22Speaker 3: to these other parts, but if they have the room
- 40:24Speaker 3: to add new spells or yeah, I think we'll just
- 40:28Speaker 3: see like new things get added or technology updated.
- 40:34Speaker 2: You would guess that they would have to just because
- 40:37Speaker 2: they want to keep up data with like what's you know,
- 40:41Speaker 2: the latest technology as well, and they want to keep
- 40:43Speaker 2: learning people in and getting as many people as possible.
- 40:46Speaker 2: So I think it's great. It's part of that upgrading,
- 40:48Speaker 2: constant upgrading process that keeps them innovative and that, you know,
- 40:54Speaker 2: people you always have a reason to come back because
- 40:56Speaker 2: it's never going to be the same park, right There's
- 40:58Speaker 2: always something new introduced, whether it's a new show, when
- 41:01Speaker 2: you spot to cast a spell or any attraction, there's
- 41:06Speaker 2: always something new to enjoy.
- 41:09Speaker 3: I will say too that I've seen that with the
- 41:12Speaker 3: new like second generation ones that It's made it much
- 41:16Speaker 3: easier to cast spells as well, because they're just I
- 41:19Speaker 3: don't know if it's because it's so new and fresh,
- 41:21Speaker 3: but they're very responsive. And I know that sometimes like
- 41:24Speaker 3: the regular like wands and like regular magic casting like
- 41:28Speaker 3: can be frustrating because whether it's your wand needs a
- 41:32Speaker 3: little new tip on it, or you know, there's something
- 41:35Speaker 3: going on. So yeah, so I could definitely see it
- 41:40Speaker 3: potentially coming to these other parts, and I hope it does.
- 41:45Speaker 2: I have to admit, though I do not have an
- 41:48Speaker 2: interactive one. I have never casted a spell. What because
- 41:54Speaker 2: I didn't want to spend so much money on a
- 41:56Speaker 2: wand that was missing a tip and had that ugly
- 41:59Speaker 2: thing and you know, you never see it.
- 42:04Speaker 3: You can't see mine at all. And I will say
- 42:06Speaker 3: the irony of that is I agree, because I kind
- 42:08Speaker 3: of hate it too. And I I feel like we
- 42:10Speaker 3: maybe have talked about I'm sure we've talked about this before.
- 42:12Speaker 3: Is that, like, I'm so angry when they made the
- 42:15Speaker 3: decision to sell only interactive ones, And the irony of
- 42:19Speaker 3: this is like and Amy is more to report in
- 42:23Speaker 3: a couple of weeks, but Amy and I are both
- 42:25Speaker 3: planning to purchase two wands each, like on our next trip,
- 42:33Speaker 3: and one of them is going to be the second generation,
- 42:35Speaker 3: So we're about to drop some pretty pennies on these wands.
- 42:38Speaker 1: But I will say they've done a much better job
- 42:41Speaker 1: hiding the tip. Yes, Like the one that I have,
- 42:47Speaker 1: the first one I bought, has that really ugly like
- 42:50Speaker 1: white on the tip that like comes up.
- 42:53Speaker 3: Now I have the same wand yeah.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Moser is like buried in and the actual wand kind
- 42:59Speaker 1: of curves around it a little bit, so it's more hidden.
- 43:01Speaker 1: But yeah, those initial ones are.
- 43:05Speaker 2: But I wonder why they never covered it, like even
- 43:07Speaker 2: the lumis once like the illuminating tip ones they have,
- 43:12Speaker 2: like that transparent tip that you know is at least
- 43:17Speaker 2: a little bit more presentable, but maybe because it's plastic,
- 43:20Speaker 2: it kind of takes away a little bit about the
- 43:22Speaker 2: value that you know of those resin replicas. But yeah,
- 43:26Speaker 2: I'm like.
- 43:27Speaker 1: I think too. I think part of it is replacing them,
- 43:33Speaker 1: which is kind of like a nice service that they
- 43:36Speaker 1: do offer at the parks where like if your wand
- 43:39Speaker 1: tip brakes or get scratched or whatever, like they will
- 43:42Speaker 1: replace it. So I wonder if like they don't want
- 43:44Speaker 1: to put something over it, because then that would be
- 43:46Speaker 1: more of a process, and that wouldn't be something they
- 43:48Speaker 1: could actually do. I don't know.
- 43:51Speaker 3: I've had my tip replaced, and I don't know how
- 43:54Speaker 3: if it was built in, I don't know how they
- 43:56Speaker 3: would do it without other otherwise just being like here's
- 43:58Speaker 3: a new wand rather than just being able to like
- 44:02Speaker 3: pop that tip off, yeah and put a new one on.
- 44:06Speaker 3: But I think to some of it's like exactly what
- 44:07Speaker 3: we were just saying is that technology and everything has
- 44:10Speaker 3: advanced from they when they first did this, and I
- 44:12Speaker 3: think there's been a lot of trial and error, and
- 44:15Speaker 3: so I think in these newer ones that we're seeing,
- 44:18Speaker 3: we're seeing them really start to like perfect, not even
- 44:22Speaker 3: I won't even necessarily say perfect, but like make improvements.
- 44:28Speaker 1: Than the first ones. For sure.
- 44:30Speaker 3: Yeah, one day you will get.
- 44:35Speaker 2: One one day, one day, Yes, we're going to do this.
- 44:39Speaker 1: You're gonna get the one. You're going to cast spells,
- 44:41Speaker 1: you're gonna wash Celestina war back. Yes, yes, you'll be
- 44:46Speaker 1: a changed man.
- 44:49Speaker 2: Again.
- 44:51Speaker 3: But no, you have to get you have to get
- 44:53Speaker 3: at least one interactive one just so that you can
- 44:55Speaker 3: do the spells.
- 44:56Speaker 1: You know.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm getting my head around that and just like, yeah,
- 45:00Speaker 2: I'm going to have to do it.
- 45:01Speaker 3: It's I think what helped me too is I don't
- 45:05Speaker 3: have any I don't have any plans to buy any
- 45:08Speaker 3: of the character wands with the interactive tip, So that
- 45:12Speaker 3: also helps too, because it's like, like my wand that
- 45:16Speaker 3: is interactive. It's like I have it on display, like
- 45:20Speaker 3: very similarly to Amy. I have it like in a
- 45:22Speaker 3: vase and it's down at the bottom and I kind
- 45:24Speaker 3: of have it towards the back so you cannot see
- 45:26Speaker 3: the tip at all. But I think that like for me,
- 45:30Speaker 3: that's always like that's my universal wand. You know, I
- 45:33Speaker 3: never have really it.
- 45:34Speaker 1: As being wand, you know, because it's like like a display.
- 45:38Speaker 3: Yeah, except that we have the exact same wand Amy,
- 45:41Speaker 3: So is it really your wand? Is it really my wand?
- 45:46Speaker 3: And the irony is Amy and I are both planning
- 45:48Speaker 3: to purchase the same second generation wand too. I feel
- 45:52Speaker 3: like we'll probably get different causem wands.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Though, yeah, so more to come. Asthetic is a little different,
- 46:00Speaker 1: so I'm sure we'll go different ways there.
- 46:03Speaker 2: Well, it's just Litherin and a hubble buff.
- 46:04Speaker 3: So yes, sorry, we went on a tangent a Mount Lawns.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Yeah, we're candidate today.
- 46:17Speaker 2: More to come on that too. And speaking of the shows,
- 46:21Speaker 2: of course we have the Frog Choir and the Try
- 46:23Speaker 2: Wizard Spirit Rally, and we also have the night Time
- 46:28Speaker 2: Lights at Hogwart's Castle where the we haven't talked about
- 46:32Speaker 2: this in the previous episodes, so you know, the castle
- 46:35Speaker 2: becomes a canvas for breathtaking projections and a stunning and emotional,
- 46:40Speaker 2: a tear jerking tribute to the Four Houses. I saw
- 46:45Speaker 2: it and I couldn't help but tear up because it's
- 46:48Speaker 2: so beautiful with the music playing and everything that's projected
- 46:52Speaker 2: on the screen. It's so good, and it's something that
- 46:55Speaker 2: they actually introduced like a few years down the line.
- 47:00Speaker 3: Yeah, everybody like cheers for their house, like.
- 47:04Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I really love the Christmas Light show too,
- 47:09Speaker 1: where they like make a snow on the Hogwarts and
- 47:12Speaker 1: they've got the music like the Slays. Oh, it's so good.
- 47:19Speaker 2: I love that.
- 47:19Speaker 3: I also love, unsurprisingly, the dark art show that they do.
- 47:24Speaker 1: That's the one I haven't seen.
- 47:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I haven't seen either the Christmas or the Halloween
- 47:30Speaker 2: Nights one.
- 47:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:32Speaker 3: Oh, we'll have to try to go and they have,
- 47:33Speaker 3: like the Halloween stuff, but I don't remember when. Gosh,
- 47:38Speaker 3: I don't remember when I saw that then, because I
- 47:40Speaker 3: typically always go to Universal with you, So how have
- 47:43Speaker 3: I seen that one?
- 47:44Speaker 1: Well, it wouldn't be me because I tend to avoid Universal.
- 47:47Speaker 1: Then I know I won't do the horror I want.
- 47:50Speaker 3: To do Halloween horror nights, and no one else wants
- 47:53Speaker 3: to I don't know. But then I feel like like
- 47:56Speaker 3: you're who I go to Universal with. So how did
- 47:58Speaker 3: I see that? Did I actually not see it in person?
- 48:02Speaker 3: And I'm just like thinking of, oh, I definitely have,
- 48:05Speaker 3: and am I just feeling like I was there. I've
- 48:07Speaker 3: definitely seen it maybe, but it's definitely on YouTube and
- 48:12Speaker 3: I've seen it. It is really cool. Oh yeah, Because I
- 48:14Speaker 3: keep saying I want to go though, because I want
- 48:16Speaker 3: to go when the Death theaters are there roaming right,
- 48:18Speaker 3: Not because I want to make a thirst strap video
- 48:20Speaker 3: with them, but I just right I just want to.
- 48:26Speaker 3: I just think I love and this one thing I'm
- 48:28Speaker 3: really I know it will probably be back down and
- 48:31Speaker 3: again in a couple of months when they come on
- 48:33Speaker 3: to talk again, but that's one thing I love about
- 48:38Speaker 3: Epic Universe and I'm hoping that this is something we
- 48:40Speaker 3: start to see in all these other parks, is having
- 48:43Speaker 3: Roman characters, because it's doing so well at Epic and
- 48:46Speaker 3: like we only really get these Wizarding World Roman characters
- 48:51Speaker 3: at Halloween time with Halloween Horror Nights. And I think
- 48:55Speaker 3: they do it at Hollywood Universal Studios Hollywood as well.
- 49:00Speaker 3: I almost think it started there maybe before it came
- 49:04Speaker 3: to Orlando, But I'm not sure if they do that
- 49:06Speaker 3: at the other parks. But hopefully that's something too we'll
- 49:11Speaker 3: start to see. It's just you, just people. The guests
- 49:15Speaker 3: need to just behave really like that's what the problem is.
- 49:19Speaker 3: And I will say like from a like from a
- 49:24Speaker 3: Orlando versus Hollywood perspective, I have more knowledge about this
- 49:30Speaker 3: from the Disney side, but like characters are usually more
- 49:33Speaker 3: free roaming in the California parks because those are typically
- 49:39Speaker 3: more like locals that are at those parks, whereas like
- 49:43Speaker 3: if you're going to Disney for the first time, probably
- 49:46Speaker 3: if you're going to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter
- 49:48Speaker 3: for the first time, Orlando's where you're going in at
- 49:51Speaker 3: least in America, because that's just like it's a lot
- 49:55Speaker 3: of people's first part that they would go to so
- 49:58Speaker 3: they can't have character is kind of free roaming because
- 50:01Speaker 3: people just can't contain themselves and it just becomes unsafe
- 50:06Speaker 3: for the character actors. But yeah, I'm hoping with Epic Universe,
- 50:12Speaker 3: we're starting to see a change and we'll start to
- 50:14Speaker 3: see that pop up because right now Hollywood has like
- 50:16Speaker 3: with their fan Fest, they have people walking around like
- 50:18Speaker 3: with the Alchemy and everything like that, so and it
- 50:22Speaker 3: seems to be doing really well.
- 50:24Speaker 2: I think I think the fan Fest event is over,
- 50:27Speaker 2: if I'm not mistaken. I think it was until May.
- 50:30Speaker 1: I think so.
- 50:31Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, I did see reels and people. The people
- 50:33Speaker 2: were you know, really polite and they were keeping their
- 50:36Speaker 2: distance and just letting the actors do their job because
- 50:41Speaker 2: after all, it's their job, and it's it's like you said,
- 50:44Speaker 2: and cool, like it's all about being respectful and just
- 50:47Speaker 2: you know, making sure it's a safe environment not just
- 50:49Speaker 2: for you as a park goer, but also for the
- 50:52Speaker 2: person who's there working you know, seven days a week
- 50:57Speaker 2: and you know, trying to have a good time.
- 51:01Speaker 3: Oh yeah, for some reason, we haven't been able to
- 51:04Speaker 3: fully master that in Orlando. But like I said, I
- 51:06Speaker 3: truly think it's because it's like those parks just seem
- 51:09Speaker 3: more foot traffic. And I don't even know again about
- 51:11Speaker 3: the tangent things. This episode not no idea how we
- 51:15Speaker 3: just got I don't even know, and that was my fault.
- 51:17Speaker 3: I brought us into that tangent. But we were talking
- 51:19Speaker 3: about Yeah, we were talking about the Nighttime Light Show.
- 51:22Speaker 3: So I don't know how we got to characters, but
- 51:27Speaker 3: I hope you enjoyed that ride into that off topic conversation.
- 51:35Speaker 2: Well, now that we have the Nighttime Show.
- 51:37Speaker 3: The Halloween Show, so yeah, I remember, and that brought
- 51:39Speaker 3: up to the death Eaters.
- 51:41Speaker 2: But now that we've talked a little bit about that,
- 51:43Speaker 2: how you know, there's different interactions. So let's you know,
- 51:46Speaker 2: fully dive into the differences that we can find in
- 51:48Speaker 2: each of these parks. So first off, we have Orlando,
- 51:52Speaker 2: which is the only location that spans across three parks now,
- 51:57Speaker 2: of which two are connected by the Hogwarts Express. So
- 52:00Speaker 2: it's the only one to feature Hagrid's Magical Creature's motorbike
- 52:03Speaker 2: adventure in Hawgsmead.
- 52:08Speaker 1: Yeah, it's also the only one to have escape from
- 52:10Speaker 1: kring Dots and the only one where you can actually
- 52:13Speaker 1: ride the Hogwarts Express Yeah, Hogwarts Expresses makes appearances in
- 52:20Speaker 1: other parks, but yeah.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Mm hmmmmm. Yeah. Obviously it offers the most complete and
- 52:26Speaker 2: immersive experience because we're talking about now three parks, so
- 52:30Speaker 2: it's like we've been talking all these last few episodes.
- 52:34Speaker 2: It's fully immersive and you hop literally hop on a
- 52:38Speaker 2: train and go from one part to the other. You
- 52:41Speaker 2: have to buy a park to park ticket and you
- 52:46Speaker 2: basically go from one magical world into another. So if
- 52:50Speaker 2: it's anyone's first time, yes, I would very much recommend
- 52:55Speaker 2: if you can to Orlando just because of it gives
- 52:57Speaker 2: you this big picture of what this universe is, this
- 53:01Speaker 2: theme park universe is capable of achieving. So obviously it's
- 53:06Speaker 2: bigger than the other Wizarding worlds and the most it's
- 53:11Speaker 2: the most complete one all in all, and like there
- 53:16Speaker 2: are like some little easter eggs like are hidden everywhere,
- 53:19Speaker 2: so you can find the Weasley's car, the fort Anglia
- 53:22Speaker 2: at Hagrid's Motorbike Adventure ride, so you're gonna see it
- 53:29Speaker 2: scattered in different places depending on the park. For instance, well,
- 53:34Speaker 2: we also have then Osaka, Japan, So what do we
- 53:38Speaker 2: have here that's super like you know, in your face
- 53:42Speaker 2: moment when you when you come into the park. I've
- 53:44Speaker 2: seen it on pictures, not myself, but you have the
- 53:47Speaker 2: Black Lake with Hogwart's reflection, so I think that's amazing
- 53:51Speaker 2: and a perfect opportunity for photos.
- 53:55Speaker 1: Yeah, the Orlando water and lake kind of got ruined
- 53:59Speaker 1: by the Velocca.
- 54:01Speaker 3: The mass the coaster ruined a lot for Harry Potter,
- 54:04Speaker 3: like reliously, like it's very frustrating, like I know, and
- 54:08Speaker 3: it's it's hard because I know it's become a lot
- 54:10Speaker 3: of people's favorite ride. It's a ride I will never
- 54:12Speaker 3: go on because I don't do upside down. But yeah,
- 54:15Speaker 3: it definitely ruined the water. It ruined that lovely patio
- 54:19Speaker 3: behind three broomsticks.
- 54:29Speaker 2: So aside from the Black Lake, we also used to
- 54:36Speaker 2: be able to see and experienced live owls that were
- 54:41Speaker 2: used in the early days up until twenty twenty one
- 54:44Speaker 2: following criticism from the Protago Foundation. So they used to
- 54:49Speaker 2: have an owl trainer so people could come up and
- 54:53Speaker 2: I'm not sure how the experience went, but yeah, it
- 54:56Speaker 2: was most you know, most likely you getting up and
- 55:01Speaker 2: closed with an owl trained owl. But again they're exposed
- 55:05Speaker 2: to you know, a lot of sounds, a lot of
- 55:08Speaker 2: like just noise and lights. And I think it was
- 55:12Speaker 2: the best decision really, because I mean, as much as
- 55:15Speaker 2: we love owls and we love them as such an
- 55:18Speaker 2: you know, important and iconic part of the Wizarding World,
- 55:22Speaker 2: some things our best to keep in you know, fiction
- 55:24Speaker 2: and not take them into the real world.
- 55:27Speaker 1: Well, and we talked about people not being able to
- 55:29Speaker 1: contain themselves around human actors and theme parks. I feel
- 55:34Speaker 1: the unpredictable human situation is not so great to stick
- 55:39Speaker 1: an owl into.
- 55:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think this only happened. Yeah, I think
- 55:43Speaker 2: this only happened in Japan as far as I know,
- 55:46Speaker 2: they they didn't do this for the other parks. And
- 55:52Speaker 2: they also used to have Forbidden Journey in three D.
- 55:57Speaker 2: And when we to the park, the entrance is quite different,
- 56:02Speaker 2: so you know, I was seeing a YouTube video. You
- 56:05Speaker 2: basically enter through a pathway that starts with the iconic
- 56:08Speaker 2: stone circle seen in Prisoner of Azkaban where the students
- 56:11Speaker 2: exit the bridge and you walk through the path that
- 56:15Speaker 2: is surrounded pipe bine trees, and as you reach the end,
- 56:19Speaker 2: you bump into the Weasley's car, the Ford Anglia, and
- 56:23Speaker 2: it's living the wildlife just outside the forest and this
- 56:28Speaker 2: is and you keep walking until you reach the famous
- 56:31Speaker 2: archway that leads you straight into Hawksmeat. But the whole entrance,
- 56:35Speaker 2: the experience is a little different, and I kind of
- 56:37Speaker 2: like it when I saw the videos, like this is
- 56:39Speaker 2: nice because it's really like, you know, it's I feel
- 56:44Speaker 2: like it's a bit more immersive, immersive maybe than the
- 56:46Speaker 2: other parks because you just go from Jurassic Park in
- 56:51Speaker 2: Orlando straight into Wizarding World and you're hearing the Jurassic
- 56:53Speaker 2: World theme park and you're starting to hear here like
- 56:56Speaker 2: the Harry Potter theme song, and you're like, ah, where
- 56:59Speaker 2: am I like? And now with the Velosa Coaster. I
- 57:02Speaker 2: haven't been there since the Velosa Coaster opened, but it
- 57:04Speaker 2: must be even worse. Yeah, So I think it's a
- 57:09Speaker 2: nice thing.
- 57:10Speaker 1: I know you probably have notes about this later, But
- 57:13Speaker 1: is the Ford Anglia like a common thread throughout all
- 57:16Speaker 1: the theme parks? Like do you get it in all
- 57:17Speaker 1: of them? Just in different places.
- 57:19Speaker 2: There's a ton of things if you look for la
- 57:22Speaker 2: and Orlando, but when you try to look for the
- 57:25Speaker 2: parks in Asia, it's a little harder to see, you know,
- 57:29Speaker 2: like details. And I actually went onto the official websites
- 57:34Speaker 2: of each of them and see what they hosted, like
- 57:36Speaker 2: the different events and shows, and so yeah, like there
- 57:40Speaker 2: are I'm sure there are more Easter eggs and things
- 57:42Speaker 2: that are particular and unique to each of the park.
- 57:46Speaker 2: But yeah, like unless you go there, especially the Beijing one,
- 57:50Speaker 2: there's like very little I could pull up from that.
- 57:54Speaker 3: Well, and I think I just googled it and the
- 57:58Speaker 3: AI overview of Google gave me wrong information because if
- 58:02Speaker 3: you google like Ford Anglia Beijing, Wisdom World of Harry Potter,
- 58:06Speaker 3: it says, yes, the Flying Ford Anglia is featured in
- 58:08Speaker 3: the Wisdom World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios, Beijing,
- 58:11Speaker 3: and then underwhere to find it it is located along
- 58:14Speaker 3: the ride path of Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. Cool,
- 58:19Speaker 3: that's not there in the park. And then if you google,
- 58:22Speaker 3: you know Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure Beijing. Hagrit's Magical
- 58:26Speaker 3: Creatures Motorbike Adventure is not located in Beijing. It's an
- 58:29Speaker 3: attraction exclusively to Orlando, Florida.
- 58:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I never trust CHATBT on that, like I will
- 58:35Speaker 2: let it like answer, but I always have to double check. Yeah,
- 58:39Speaker 2: cross check, like with Google.
- 58:40Speaker 3: Because this is this is that a yep, this is
- 58:43Speaker 3: that AI overview that comes up right when you Google
- 58:45Speaker 3: anything nowadays. So yeah, I don't let it fool you.
- 58:49Speaker 2: But so in addition, you have the Hippogriff Magical Lesson
- 58:55Speaker 2: in which you encounter a hippogriff and learn the best
- 58:58Speaker 2: way to approach this magic creature. So it's yeah, and
- 59:03Speaker 2: I feel it's also very something that you would find
- 59:07Speaker 2: in Japan because I feel there's so respectful and it's
- 59:12Speaker 2: it's a perfect place to have an interaction like that.
- 59:17Speaker 2: You also get the to meet magical creatures like a
- 59:20Speaker 2: Niffler baby dragon and Pigmy Puffs, which is what we
- 59:23Speaker 2: were talking about in FanFest. So I think they got
- 59:26Speaker 2: to kind of got a taste of what Japan gets
- 59:28Speaker 2: to live on a probably daily basis. Yeah, and again
- 59:34Speaker 2: makes me think like the reason why Japan has these
- 59:37Speaker 2: type of events is because their culture and their way
- 59:41Speaker 2: of just behaving overall allows for it to be you know,
- 59:46Speaker 2: allows for those situations and those shows to actually come
- 59:51Speaker 2: to life.
- 59:52Speaker 1: Mm hmm. Yeah, very different mm hmm.
- 59:57Speaker 2: And just a little a little plas in a year
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: of the Forbidden Journey, of course, is presented in Japanese,
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: so as opposed to the parks in LA and in Orlando,
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: we got a different language. So moving back to the
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: US to LA, we have Hollywood and this is has
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: a more compact layout. It's the smallest of all Wizarding
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: World parks, which I don't think you can really it's
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: not something that's so noticeable I think when you enter
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: the park, but when you see videos, if you see
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: a video of Orlando right after you've visited, you say, oh, yeah,
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: like I can tell this has been like kind of
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: like scaled down a bit. It's been more compact, it's
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: more it's closer, it's easier, like it's the pathway to Hogwarts.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: I feel like it's you know, it's not as I
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: don't know, as long as it's probably like much quicker
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: to get there. And that's because the stores are pretty
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: much the same. But yeah, it's actually but they did
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: I think they did a good job. They did a
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: really good job in making the park as detailed and
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: as immersive as the Orlando won, even if they had
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: to like make it more compact. Yeah, so something that
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: they did for Forbidden journey. They had a three D
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: HD experience in which guests wore three D quidditch goggles,
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: but they were removed after only eight months after the
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: opening date. Why well, you know, there were reports that
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: too many writers became nauseated and felt sick. We did
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: talk about this in previous episodes as well, and it
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: has now been upgraded to four K in one and
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: twenty frames per second and all of the parks, so
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: three D is no longer an option. And yeah, good, Yeah.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: I wrote it in three D and absolutely hated it.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: It didn't make me sick. But the problem I had
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: was I went to Hollywood after I'd been to Orlando,
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: and the Hollywood one in three D just looked like blurry.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: It just didn't look right, like the three D wasn't
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: lining up right. So I'm really glad they did away
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: with it because now it just looks like so much
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: crisper in all the parks, because the Orlando one also
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: got the same update. Yeah, it just no, the three
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: D did not work on that ride at all.
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: Well, and the problem with that ride already is that
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: without the three D it is extremely motion sickness inducing
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: for people. I know. I've talked about I don't know
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: if I can even tolerate it anymore, and it's just
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: overwhelmingly people in groups are like, if I'm get motion
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: sick easily, what ride should I avoid? And it's like
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: Forbidden Journey and Simpsons like really a lot in Orlando,
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: So Forbidden Journey is just yeah, it is really hard
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: on a lot of people. And I just cannot even
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: imagine also having three D. I just.
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I wonder if it was maybe rushed
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: in the attempt to make something that was unique so
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: it could like attract more people to the La Park
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: and be like, hey, we're being innovative, so we are
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: introducing three D, which Orlando doesn't have, so calm and
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: see us. But it kind of like didn't really work
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: out the way they planned at all, and a.
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: Lot of people that is not something to entice you
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: to re ride something, So.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: I had to hire more janitorial staff.
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: That's what it accomplished.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: It's like when you used to play roller coaster Tycoon
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: and the little like candy man that you could drop
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: in with the two users to sign them, like the
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: pathway coming out of the roller toaster where everyone's being sick.
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: Line up with trash cans, get people bags as they
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: come off, like yes.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: Speaking in millennial basically yeah, Okay, So we talked about
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: the ford Anglia and the other parts so here. An
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: interesting fact is that it used to be located right
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: outside of Hogwarts, but was kind of tucked away to
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: the left of the entrance of Harry Potter the Forbidden Journey.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: It was kind of secluded and easy to miss. It
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: was actually only accessible by request. I remember when it
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: went there back in twenty nineteen. There it was actually
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: a chained off area, so I kind of had to
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: jump over the chain and just to find the ford
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: Anglia because there were no like, there weren't any people. There,
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: weren't staff members, nothing, and it was kind of like
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: they're just sitting there and you know, not being appreciated enough.
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: And so it is now that that part is now
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: a locker area. So the ford Anglia has moved to
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: a much more visible location in the fans area before
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: reaching the castle, so that's really much in your face now.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: So whenever you're reaching Hogwarts, you'd see the ford Anglia
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: plaster there, but it did seem it was it wasn't
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: great photo op location. But I think it was probably
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: not the best way to to you know, they should
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: have maybe made more signs or kind of like, you know,
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: it seemed like a like a restricted area, to be honest.
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: I mean, if you were having to jump over a right.
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: I didn't get into problem. I didn't get into any
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: issues with that. I did. I did get kicked. I
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: did get called out for sitting on hagrids on the
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: grass on Haggard's hut. I was just taking a picture
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: and I immediately got called out on that, and I
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: was like, oh, like, where do I you know, I
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: was so embarrassed. But yeah, like, but the Forte Anglo
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: was fine.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: Nice. Speaking of photo ops, there's kind of a cool one.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: This is different than Orlando. I don't know if it's
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: exclusive to Hollywood, because I don't know if it's in
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: the other parks in Japan and China. But there is
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: a really cool photo op with the Hogwarts Express in Hollywood.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: So while you can't ride it, you can go inside
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: it and you take a picture in the compartment and
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: they like do a little green screen thing in the window.
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: But the cool part is that the compartment furnishings, like
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: the seat cushions and the luggageracts and all that are
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: actually from the film set. What so you're like sitting
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: in a Hogwarts Express compartment.
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: This is so cool, Like when what's this introduced? Oh gosh,
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: I don't like do we know when it was because
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: I never saw it? Like maybe I just that was me,
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: you know, in a rush, as you always not appreciating
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: the little details, but not watching the show, not watching
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: the shows, missing the compartment section, not by my interactive ones.
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: Manh yeah, you have to come with me and Amy.
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: It'll be like a whole new experience for you, like
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: you've never even been there before.
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: My first time. But that's actually really cool.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: I'm seeing our goals from like twenty seventeen, so at
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: least in twenty seventeen, I'd say probably before then.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: Interesting. Yeah, okay, that's one more thing to add to
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: my list. Now that's a good part. That's a good
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: part of doing this research and coming up with these episodes.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: Like we've been talking so much and you know, we've
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: kind of like been like informing each other and kind
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: of like so it's great to see like all of
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: these things that I could have missed out on, and
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: that I actually missed out on and now like when
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: I go back, I'm gonna be much more like living
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: in the moment and kind of like taking it a
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: little bit slower, you know, like maybe you know, buying
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: an extra day of the park. If I want my
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: day of photo ops and stuff like, I can still
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: have it.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, there's so much to see. And that's
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: what's so cool about these parks is it's like you
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: can keep going back and noticing different things.
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: Yeah, so the one in La also, Okay, we have
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: to talk weather. So we get this dry, sunny climate
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: of California, southern California, which is very different from the
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: humidity in Orlando, especially I think in the month of
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: June summer, cause in the fall is not that bad.
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: June's not bad. It's July, August, and September. But it's
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: getting I mean it's getting worse. I mean, like, as
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: someone who's in Orlando quite frequently, like I mean, even
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: the last couple of times I've been there in April
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: and May, it's been unseasonably hot. And I think it's
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: so hard because Orlando's become this like theme park mecca
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: of the world, you know, above and beyond universal. You know,
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: there's Disney, there's Sea World, there's Legol, there's so many
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: theme parks there, but it's such an unforgiving climate for
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: theme parks. And yeah, La is is much nicer from
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: a weather perspective, but.
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: You'll never get real snow, which takes us too our.
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: I mean, I'm okay with that as someone who lives
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: in a very snowy place.
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: But if you want to experience Hogwarts in the real snow,
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: you got to go to Beijing in China, because it's
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: not only the most modern build but and it not
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: only features the Black Lake, but unlike the parks in
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: La Orlando and even Japan, Beijing gets real winters. So
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: there are days where the trees are dusted in snow
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: and the lake itself looks frozen, and it just looks
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: so magical. Makes me want to rent a little room
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: there and live there in the hogs met Like somewhere
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: in the buildings it looks so beautiful, looks straight out
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: of the films.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: Part of me is like, this would be so cool
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: and so cozy to walk around with your hot butter
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: beer and a snowy hogsmeat. But then the other part
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: of me is like, what do you do with your
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: winter coat when you go on the rides?
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: Now, I can't imagine going to a theme park in
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: like winter.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: I know, logistically, I'm like, I mean.
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: Even theme parks around here, like I think of like
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: like I'm like the northern Yeah, like Hershey Park closes
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: for the winter because Pennsylvania gets a lot of snow.
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I wonder if they close too. Maybe these reels
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: that we get are from employees or people who have
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: special passes or something, because I don't see much people
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: like in all of these videos that I've seen, these
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: reels and pictures, it looks pretty empty. So I don't
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: see like these like huge crowds of people, you know,
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: walking their way through the snow.
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: Or maybe people just don't want to go when it's
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: snowy cold. I don't know.
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean again, I just googled it, and I
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: don't think they do. However, the obviously they make some
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: adjustments to the outdoor attractions, and some of those might
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: be closed completely in the winter or have limited operation
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: obviously based on the weather. But yeah, interesting, I think
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: it gives them a unique opportunity to and it'll be
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: with it being the newest Wizarding World, they have room
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: to grow here. But I think that it gives them
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: a unique opportunity to have like wintery events and like
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: holiday els and like things like that that the other
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: parks can't fully do, because I mean, yeah, you can
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: go to Orlando like in the wintertime when it's Christmas
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: and there's like you know, reads up and garland, and
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: but you're also like yeah, but you're like sweating, and
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: it's just there's something about the vibe that it's.
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: Just on the ceiling, like on the roof are not
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: matching the climb melting.
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: If you're lucky, Yeah, if you're lucky, you are wearing
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: long pants. But like that's about it. Like it's just
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: so yeah, that is really cool to be able to
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: have that type of climate.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: I can't imagine sometime in the future that's being covered
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: by a dome and being like you know, having its
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: own climate, very like Hunger Hunger Game X esque, Like
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: that would be so cool, like talking like twenty years
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: down the line and having these like completely immersive areas
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: and parts and like having actual like snow and you know,
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: you I don't know, Like it's it's fun to imagine
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: like they're already like doing so many things as regards technology,
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: so you can only imagine how far they'll go. Yeah,
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: but yeah, I think it's really nice to have this,
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: Like each of these parks have their own little charm
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: to them. They're not there are we could say they're identical,
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: but they're not identical enough for you to say, Okay,
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: I'm gonna skip on this one because I've seen this one.
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: Each of them has their own unique feature or things
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: that you know you might see in one park but
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: you don't see in the other. And I think it's
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: a they're all worthwhile visiting. I've only been to the
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: one in Orlando and the one in Beijing, not the
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: one in Beijing, sorry, the one in la I was
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: just reading Beijing's. But yeah, and I would love to
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: be in the one in Japan. We have again we
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: have to go to Japan, specifically Osaka for this part.
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: But yeah, and one more thing about the Beijing one
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: is that forbidding journey as the one in Japan is
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: presented in Chinese.
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: Yeah, so we have talked about like Easter eggs and
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: film props and things like that that are in the
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: parks in Orlando, so check out episodes twenty and twenty
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: one for that. But I did want to touch on
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: some for these other parks, which you know, as we
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: said earlier, when you try and find information about Osaka
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: and Beijing parks, it's very difficult to do for some
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: reason on Google. I don't know. Maybe it's because we're
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: not like based in Asia, so maybe there's something with
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: our results. So really had a hard time finding info
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: about props and things in Osaka and Beijing parks. But
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: I would not be surprised if there are some Everything
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: that came up for Osaka was the studio tour, so
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: I really confused Google on that. But Hollywood definitely has
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: film props scattered all over the place, So if you
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: are going to the Hollywood parks, a few things to
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: look out for. Hagrid's motor bike that was actually used
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: in the films can be seen in the line for
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: Flood of the Hippogriff. There's a bunch of cauldrons that
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: were film props in the interactive wand display window of
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: Saradwin's Cauldron's Shop. Gladragg's Wizardwaar has two costumes from the films.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: That is Hermione's yule bawl dress and Cho Chang's your
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: Ball dress. So obviously multiples were made of these costumes,
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: which is pretty typical, which is why you'll also see
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: these costumes and things like the touring exhibition, studio tours
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: all that. But these are actual costumes made for the
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: films and warned by the actresses, so that's pretty cool.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: We already talked about that Hogwarts Express photo op, but
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: again in that compartment in the train, the seat cushions,
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: luggage and luggage rack are all from the film sets,
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: so that's pretty cool. And then there are a bunch
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: of suitcases in the three broomsticks as part of the
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: decorps where like hotel guests staying upstairs and stuff, so
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: those are also many of them are film props, and
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: I'm sure there's more, but these were ones that I
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: could actually verify.
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: And it's funny because I guess the on you know,
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: on the windows, like the Yu'll Ball dresses, it doesn't
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: say costume warn by because obviously it just takes away
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: that immersiveness and that you know that that they want
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: to cast on you like they want you to feel
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: in the Wizarding World. So it's things that you have
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: to look up because otherwise you're never going to get it.
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I would have never known this, And like I said,
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: I've been there, so I don't know. I've watched through
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: the shops and like just was like, oh cool, there's
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: Chow chain stress, but like wasn't like, oh that's the dress.
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: Yeah. Same with the desks and the d A d
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: A class, Like I didn't know that and so now
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: it's like wow, like I've passed, you know, by those
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: so many times and I was like, okay, cute deess.
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: They're nice replicas, but I never thought of them as like, oh,
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: the actual film props because yeah, like and you can't
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: ask the staff because they're gonna be like, this is
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: real Hogwarts, what are you talking about because they're so
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: in character.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: Right. So yeah, so that wraps up the main discussion.
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: Yeah, specialis.
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: All right. So for our specialis for Velio. For this episode,
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: I wanted to talk about Grindilow's and you know, tying
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: this into our main discussion. These creatures can be found
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: in the Black Lake, which is depicted in Universal Japan
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: outside of Hogwarts, so that is our tie in Grindilow's
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: in the Harry Potter universe are based off of British
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: legends in folklore in which grendilows would pull children underwater
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: in lakes, ponds, marshes, etc. These creatures are also known
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: as Jenny Green Teeth or Peg Prowler, very like localized
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: folk tales, but they all are similar. Folk tales about
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: these water demons, and they're thought to have originated in
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: Lancashire and Yorkshire. And we're used as cautionary tales for children,
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: trying to get them to stay away from deep standing water.
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: It would work on me. It sounds terrifying.
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: Yeah yeah. The name Grendi Low is thought to be
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: derived from Grendel, a character in the epic poem Beywolf.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: Grendel is one of the main antagonists of the Tail
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: and is often depicted as a giant or a monster.
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: And well Grendel doesn't directly mean bog or marsh, some
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: scholars believe there is a connection there. The surname Grendel
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: can be a topographic name meaning living near a swamp
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: or more. Also, Grendel in variations of it often appear
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: in Anglo Saxon place names. They have connections to water
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: or Marsha such as Grendolea's Pete. I think I'm saying
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: that right, Pete Pitt, Grendeless Mirror and Grendle's sullen or
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: Grendel's bog.
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: Very interesting.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: So that's our little tidbits about the Grendylos.
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: Mm hmmm, pretty creepy. I read that that, you know,
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: pulling children underwater, and you know, like it really makes
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: you like hm hm m hm.
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: Paul, and that's exactly what they also did and Harry Potter. Yeah,
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: children underwater. Yeah, but cool. I think there's I think
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: they're so cool but creepy but cool.
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: Yeah, especially how they made them in the films, Like
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: I think it looks really cool.
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: With the tentacles and everything, like mm hmmmmmm.
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: Really interesting to see how they appear in our show. Yeah,
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: I think we haven't talked too much about like creatures
- 1:20:59Speaker 3: and what how they could potentially look a little different
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: in the show. So it'll be it'll be interesting to see.
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: M hm, because we have so many Yeah, go ahead,
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: I think you're going to say the same thing I
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: was going to say. Go ahead, Oh, I was.
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: Just gonna say, like, we have so many different versions
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: of the creatures and like illustrated, I was going to
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: say that, Yeah, I knew it. I knew it. I
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: read ahead in your mind.
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: That's what.
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: I feel like. They all still have, like you know,
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: at similarities, Like they all have like the main kind
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: of features I feel like, of being this kind of
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: scary teethy face with like these tentacles and stuff. So
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: there's still some similarities I think, in all these different
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: art forms. So I think that hopefully, even if they
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: decide to do it in a little bit more of
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: a different take, it'll still be familiar. Yeah, because I
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: have seen depictions before of it with like actual legs
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: instead of the tentacles, so almost like with legs with
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: like webbed feet kind of. I've seen a depiction of
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: that and like fan art, and I've also seen a
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: depiction that was like almost like a mermaid tail, but
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: not it's pretty. It was more like not like a
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: mermaid tale, more like an eel, like if you think
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: of like how an eel is. I've seen that as
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: well too, So it'll be very interesting to see what
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: direction they they take.
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: Yeah, there's there's only so many iterations you can have
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: of of an elf, right right.
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: With some of these other creatures they could be, I'm sure.
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: Yeah, to play around more and just see what they
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: can come up with. M Yeah, so nice. Okay, So
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: last week we asked you, uh, what is your must
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: do when visiting Diagon Alley in Orlando. So we got
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: a couple of responses from our now longtime supporter Jerry.
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: Shout out to Jerry. She says so much to love
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: in and around diagon Alley, the Hogwards Express ice cream
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: from Florian's, the new Huckleberry flavor. It's great, but I
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: would love a flight. A flight small containers of five
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: or six different flavors going into the shops.
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: I love that idea. I also did not know about
- 1:23:42Speaker 3: this new Huckleberry flavor, so that might be on the list.
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: Sounds great yeh, but yes, Jerry, I agree, I would
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: love an ice cream flight.
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: It's too hard to decide on a flavor when you
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: walk in there so many simplings.
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: Yeah. She also says, I have to visit them all
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: and also look up the ice cream flavors, so I
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: can't just pick one. Perhaps my favorite memory is that
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: of my first visit to Diagon Alley. They had a
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: busker in King's Cross Station. A man playing a saxophone,
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: and it reminded me of a real English street scene,
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: except he didn't have his case open at his feed
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: for tips, right, it helped me feel the immersions of
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: the entire experience, but unfortunately they seem to have given
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: up on this touch in later years. I hope that
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: the roaming bits of color don't disappear from Epic, which
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: I think, you know, it goes back a little bit
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: to what we were discussing about people, you know, the
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: different crowds and how they behave around actors or cast members.
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: So it could be a reason why these have kind
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: of disappeared after a while.
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: And I'm nervous because I have seen some pretty disappointing
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: videos from Epic, not in Wizarding World in particular, but
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: in Dark Universe because Igor is a character that roams
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: there too, and I have seen some like videos that
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: were not great of like how people like hackled him
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: or stuff like that. And so we've only had this
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: park for a month at this point, Like, I really
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: hope that the few don't ruin it for the masses.
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: Like you mentioned, Jerry, I hope so too.
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: It's also lovely from what I've seen, like the students
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: from Bobaton's and Hogwarts and Elver Mourny, like.
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: I want to find one of the rs.
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: They're really yeah two, yes, I love those interactions the
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: great Yes.
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: They're they're both actors I've seen have been so great,
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: and they like like to give you little tidbits, like
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: about the park and point out things that you want
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: it normally like see and.
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: Yeahs so cool. And we got a message from Felicia
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: saying Earl gray and lavender ice cream, Earl gray and
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: lavender ice cream, and again Earl gray and lavender ice cream.
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: She was really excited about this one tongue twister. I
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: also love to sit on those steps and take in
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: the atmosphere while I eat it. And that's what I
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: need more of. That is what I need more of
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: next time. I keep getting all these comments and I
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: you know, it's just more reassuring that, you know, I
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: just have to sit on the steps, enjoy Celestina's show,
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: get myself.
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: Got to slow down, that's all it is. And it's hard, right,
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: There's so much to do, and I think the atmosphere
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: of like going to a park is that and I
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: think it's really easy to go to Florian's and get
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: your ice cream and eat it while you're walking, you know,
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: to get to your next thing. But I do think
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: the other benefit of going to the parks like frequently
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: is probably being able to slow down a little bit more.
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: I mean, my first couple of trips to the Wizarding
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: World were the same, Like it was hustle. It was
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: one thing to the next, and I think that once
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: you you know, once you go more, it helps you
- 1:27:21Speaker 3: to be able to slow down a little bit. But yes, definitely,
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: just yeah, and the fact that it's my recommendation to everyone.
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: It's also like within a bigger park. So obviously, as
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: much as you love Harry Potter, I also love doing
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: the Simpsons, right, But then like I love like I've
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: done the Minions one, and I've done like, I like
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: doing like the other rides as well, even though I
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: like spending more time in Harry Potter obviously, but there's
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: also like Musco rides, like go to rides that, yeah,
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: so it's a little bit yeah Spider Man, Yeah, Spider Man.
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: Yes, that's another one that's Unfortunately that last time I
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: rode that one, I didn't ford After I rode that Jurassic.
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: I like, et, I'm starting to get in the slower
- 1:28:03Speaker 3: I not making not making me sick ride. Yeah well yeah, yes, yes,
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: I could go on and on about Disney, but Amy
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: will not go on Mummy with me. But I love Mommy.
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: Go on Mummy now, Nicole this.
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: Yeah, So I couldn't go on a trip and you
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: all of a sudden go on Money. It was up
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: doors for other rollercoasters that you could possibly do.
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: I win before I went a few we.
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: Don't do upside out.
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: I went on the Mummy a few trips ago and
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: was kind of like like that was fine. Then last
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: trip I went on it again, I was like, oh yeah,
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: I actually kind of like it. So I think it
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: was one of those ones that like I had to
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: do multiple times to be like oh yeah, I.
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: M I happy TSD of that ride. I just can't
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: get you know, I can't just wrap my head around
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: doing it again because I had such a horrible feeling
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: like this like kind of like cultural feeling, like some
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: thing like my you know. I think I was, yeah,
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: at the edge of heart failure or something because I
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: didn't feel good and I was like, nope, I didn't
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: like this feeling. I do not want to experiment this again,
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: so I'm done. But then I went to six Flags,
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: which is like even worse, and I survived so.
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: Well.
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: And it's so it's hard, like because like with rides,
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: it's like you and here we're going on another tangent again.
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: But sometimes like it's you might have one bad experience
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: just because of like one little thing, right, Like I
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: feel like there time right, and I would say too,
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: like going in the summer when it's really hot, I
- 1:29:39Speaker 3: am more likely to avoid the rides that might make
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: me motion sick because you're already like dehydrated, you're already
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: like beaten down a little bit from being in the heat.
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: And like, and I've been the same way, Like I've
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: had rides that have never And that's how I am
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: with Forbidden Journey. I mean I used to ride for
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: and of course as you get older, things change, but
- 1:29:59Speaker 3: I used to ride Forbid and Journey. I mean I
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: remember one time we went. We wrote it like back
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: to back, like a couple times. But now like the
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: last time I went, I didn't even go on it
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: because I remember the last time I did it, I
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: started to feel kind of sick. And so now that's
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: all I think about when I think about going on it,
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: and so I just don't go on it. And all
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: it takes is one little experience, and it might have
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: even been like I mean, you probably weren't on the
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: edge of heart failure, but maybe you were, but like
- 1:30:26Speaker 3: you're not now, so you could try it again and
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: it could be really fun. But it's so hard because
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: you think about that one experience and I think, yeah,
- 1:30:33Speaker 3: being getting motionsick or feeling motion sick has enough to
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: like ruin the rest of your park day, and it's
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: like you don't want to do that, and so it's unfortunate,
- 1:30:43Speaker 3: but hopefully one day you'll give it another chance.
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: My mom loves it. She's always like the Mummy. I
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: have to do the Mummy. That's my go to ride,
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: and I'm like, okay, do it with my sister. She's
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: a crazy rollercoaster girl. Like no, I'm not that person,
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: but like, yeah, it was fifteen years ago the first
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: time I went on the Mummy and I didn't have
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: that good experience. But you know, like never say never.
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: Mm hmm, yeah, you.
- 1:31:05Speaker 3: Never know, I will say. After riding Hagrid's Mummy seems
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: so much slower. It's really weird.
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: But you know what the thing is that Hagrids is
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: in the open air and the Mummy is like completely dark,
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: and that's.
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: You're right, You're like inside, yeah.
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: And you like you can't see anything, and the I
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: think that's what was a little you know, made me
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: a little desperate, not like I remember, it was like
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: it kind of like blacked out and yeah, so I
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: didn't like that feeling, but who knows, Like maybe I'll
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: do it and I actually have a good time.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, but.
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: No, I agree with the with the point you first made.
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: It was like my first trips to the wizard World,
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: like we only were in the Wizarding World like that
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: because it was I also went during celebration when University
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: used to write Harry Potter Celebration, so most of my
- 1:31:54Speaker 3: time was spent, you know, doing that. But I agree,
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: like when you start to finally break away and explore
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: the other like parts of the park, I think, especially
- 1:32:02Speaker 3: with Epic Universe, this is going to be tricky because
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: like I'm so excited about other things in those other
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: lands that it's like it is harder to slow down
- 1:32:10Speaker 3: a little bit when you want to try to get
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: to all these other things and if you're only there
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: for a little bit.
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: So yeah, because you were also really excited about Dark Universe.
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: Mm hmm. Yeah, yeah, I'll just have to keep going back,
- 1:32:26Speaker 3: that's right.
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: Yeah. So yeah, thank you to our listeners for your messages.
- 1:32:32Speaker 2: We always appreciate them. We love to see them. Every
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: time we have an episode, we love to see your opinions,
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: and yeah, keep keep them coming.
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: So this episode, we want to know which Universal theme
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: park would you like to visit and why. So you
