- 0:21Speaker 1: Two days gonna be the day that they're gonna throw
- 0:24Speaker 1: it back to you. By now you should have somehow
- 0:28Speaker 1: realize what you gotta do. I don't believe that anybody
- 0:34Speaker 1: feels the way I have to about you.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Now, Tigers turn talkers. This is off the bench.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Back be the wedd's on the street, that the fire.
- 0:47Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in Off the Bench segment two,
- 0:50Speaker 3: Here an hour, one little oasis there. I think everybody
- 0:54Speaker 3: that's in college that wants to teach themselves guitars starts
- 0:58Speaker 3: with that song. I think I knew about six people
- 1:01Speaker 3: on the team that could pick up an acoustic guitar
- 1:03Speaker 3: in college and play that one. That was about it.
- 1:06Speaker 3: That's as far as they got. So congrats to them.
- 1:10Speaker 3: And if you ever got past that song, cogress see
- 1:12Speaker 3: you as well. That showed real determination. If you were
- 1:14Speaker 3: that guy that wanted to impress chicks by playing acoustic guitar,
- 1:17Speaker 3: what did you play? You were? You were in the
- 1:19Speaker 3: middle school band? Was yeah, so I so when I
- 1:22Speaker 3: was in elementary I did I did piano, Okay that's
- 1:26Speaker 3: what it was, and then I know, but then I
- 1:28Speaker 3: played cello in middle school. So sixth seventh eighth grade
- 1:32Speaker 3: cello player, all of the like. It was kind of
- 1:34Speaker 3: crazy because like all the the guys on the football team,
- 1:37Speaker 3: we decided to play cello, you had to do something
- 1:39Speaker 3: you had to do like home economics, you had to
- 1:41Speaker 3: do band, you had to do orchestra, something else. I
- 1:45Speaker 3: think it was shop. We were like, wait, we could
- 1:47Speaker 3: do shop, Like no, we're gonna do orchestra. And so
- 1:50Speaker 3: I was a cello player, not a big deal like
- 1:55Speaker 3: yo yo ma, and not a I don't want to brag,
- 1:59Speaker 3: but I was also first chair thought a big deal,
- 2:02Speaker 3: not every single year. Seventh grade that's when I was
- 2:04Speaker 3: really into it. First chair cello player cello.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Okay, better better cello player or better middle school football player.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Cello player. Really So seventh grade that was my first
- 2:19Speaker 3: year to play quarterback ever Hubbard Huskies. Shout out to
- 2:22Speaker 3: them in Tyler, Texas. Yeah, a lot of Huskies. I
- 2:27Speaker 3: got beat out seventh grade year, so I didn't even
- 2:29Speaker 3: play in seventh grade year. So I was the backup
- 2:31Speaker 3: quarterback seventh grade and then I beat that guy on
- 2:36Speaker 3: eighth grade and so I did, but I think only
- 2:38Speaker 3: through about three passes a game, So I wasn't that
- 2:42Speaker 3: dynamic in eighth grade. It wasn't like Treeport evangel where
- 2:46Speaker 3: I was like twenty years old in eighth grade and
- 2:48Speaker 3: I was playing on the varsity. I was actually young
- 2:52Speaker 3: for my grade. I went to got the LSU was seventeen.
- 2:55Speaker 3: So in eighth grade, I was I don't even know
- 2:56Speaker 3: a guy. I'm not gonna do the math real quick,
- 2:58Speaker 3: but yeah, I was. Yeah, the guy played with He
- 3:02Speaker 3: was a He was a quarterback. He was my best
- 3:03Speaker 3: bud growing up. We were always on every team together,
- 3:05Speaker 3: played every position, and so he let's see. And then
- 3:08Speaker 3: got to high school. I was a quarterback for JV.
- 3:11Speaker 3: He was a freshman quarterback. Then he beat me out
- 3:13Speaker 3: on varsity sophomore year. It was a bloodbath, back and forth,
- 3:16Speaker 3: back and forth. And he was a good player. He
- 3:18Speaker 3: played for the Cubs for a long time. He was
- 3:20Speaker 3: a hitting coach when they were when the World Series
- 3:21Speaker 3: got a World Series ring. So he's moderately successful. He
- 3:25Speaker 3: was not really played baseball at Oklahoma State. No Mullet though,
- 3:32Speaker 3: didn't have the gandhy. He didn't have the gandy look.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Did he last twenty years? And we've already laid Gundy
- 3:37Speaker 3: to rest this year. No he didn't last that. You
- 3:40Speaker 3: know what, the mullet probably would have prolonged his career. Yeah,
- 3:43Speaker 3: it checks out. So Taylor, you were at the press conference.
- 3:51Speaker 3: I say, a lot of news coming in. But before
- 3:53Speaker 3: we get to that news, I would like to get
- 3:56Speaker 3: this show started.
- 3:58Speaker 2: It's time to get glowing. Curtis. See of Go Flow
- 4:00Speaker 2: IVY spa where hydration, vitamins and a summer ready glow
- 4:04Speaker 2: are always on SAP.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Now for starters, all right, go to Go Flow iv
- 4:11Speaker 3: SPA right there, Jefferson Highway, right nearby Cage. It is
- 4:15Speaker 3: obviously the absence of Jake means it is that time
- 4:19Speaker 3: of the season where sickness is running around. It's going
- 4:21Speaker 3: around all the schools. We've heard I fear rumors about
- 4:24Speaker 3: people all over the city. Something's happened, whether it's a stomach,
- 4:28Speaker 3: whether it's a little sniffly nosed. Well, make sure you
- 4:31Speaker 3: arm yourself with a strong immune system and go to
- 4:33Speaker 3: Go Flow. You can get that Myers cocktail. You can
- 4:35Speaker 3: get hydrated, you can get vitamins, vitamins I like to
- 4:39Speaker 3: call it vitamized with the vitamin B twelve's, the D,
- 4:41Speaker 3: the zinc, the magnesium, everything, keep your immune system strong
- 4:45Speaker 3: to fight off anything that's going through the going through
- 4:47Speaker 3: the house right now. And if you're already feeling under
- 4:50Speaker 3: the weather, perfect, go get those vitamins. Help you recover faster,
- 4:54Speaker 3: get stronger, get hydrated, get vitamized. Right there, go flow IV,
- 4:58Speaker 3: go flow IV dot. All right, Taylor, so you were
- 5:02Speaker 3: at So there's a lot of news coming out right now.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Frank Wilson took the podium yesterday talked, of course we
- 5:08Speaker 3: got argus all tomorrow and now we're kind of hearing
- 5:11Speaker 3: a little bit about a nagging injury for our guy Garrett.
- 5:15Speaker 3: That's why. Yeah.
- 5:16Speaker 4: So he said Garrett had a nagging injury that has reoccurred.
- 5:20Speaker 4: So it was, you know, one of the ones that
- 5:21Speaker 4: he had previously had. He said, Garrett's probable for the game,
- 5:25Speaker 4: but it is something that is concerning. I mean, he
- 5:27Speaker 4: says he's probable, but concerning. It's something we need to
- 5:30Speaker 4: watch and monitor as we head into the game. He
- 5:34Speaker 4: was later asked in the press conference, you said reoccurring injury.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Is it the knee or the pateller tendon or is
- 5:40Speaker 4: it the oblique? He confirmed, it's the oblique. It's it's
- 5:43Speaker 4: in that ab area. You would talked about how hard
- 5:46Speaker 4: it is to throw the football, and like, I get it,
- 5:48Speaker 4: Garrett had had the best year, but like I thought,
- 5:50Speaker 4: he was actually even worse to start the year than
- 5:53Speaker 4: he has been. I mean, just because I mean, you
- 5:55Speaker 4: mentioned the entire throwing motion is going to be off
- 5:58Speaker 4: with that oblique injury, and it.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Apparently yeah, and I don't think we know, Yeah, it's
- 6:02Speaker 3: no blaques, it's the left side is of the right side,
- 6:04Speaker 3: because to me, I think the I'm trying to figure out,
- 6:07Speaker 3: like which side would be anyway for like a guy
- 6:10Speaker 3: that turns any anybody that's a swinger, So you're a
- 6:14Speaker 3: rotational type of athlete, so you're a kicker, you're a
- 6:17Speaker 3: baseball bat or a golf or a throw or anything
- 6:20Speaker 3: that's a rotational type of athlete. Anything in the abs
- 6:24Speaker 3: in the ribs is like really tough to deal with,
- 6:27Speaker 3: and it creates a lot of mechanical flaws and mechanical issues.
- 6:31Speaker 3: So everybody's been trying to pinpoint with Nuts, like, hey,
- 6:34Speaker 3: what's the difference this year between the nuts We've seen
- 6:38Speaker 3: and we've known and we've trusted. And he's absolutely electric
- 6:42Speaker 3: all over the field, making making every throw making every read.
- 6:46Speaker 3: And then the nust Meyer that has that we've seen
- 6:48Speaker 3: this year, who has not been as dynamic, has looked
- 6:51Speaker 3: a little bit like he's pressing a lot. His mechanics
- 6:55Speaker 3: have been the same, the throws haven't been the same,
- 6:58Speaker 3: And I think a lot of it goes back to
- 7:00Speaker 3: has to go back to this oblique injury. And because
- 7:03Speaker 3: there's if you're a golfer, you can kind of relate
- 7:07Speaker 3: to this, like if you play in the wind a lot,
- 7:09Speaker 3: you play in the wind, you have to change your
- 7:11Speaker 3: swing right, and you have to change your swing to
- 7:13Speaker 3: adapt to the wind. And then when it's not windy,
- 7:17Speaker 3: there's a period of time where you have to like
- 7:20Speaker 3: unlearn what you just did in the wind. So there
- 7:24Speaker 3: could be a situation where he had this injury and
- 7:26Speaker 3: he was, whether subconsciously or consciously overcompensating for something, or
- 7:31Speaker 3: his body was doing something different in his thumb motion
- 7:33Speaker 3: to ease the pain so he could make a throw. Well,
- 7:37Speaker 3: if you do that enough for a long and a
- 7:39Speaker 3: period of time, muscle memory starts to set in and
- 7:42Speaker 3: mechanics happened. So like I sometimes I wondered throughout the year,
- 7:47Speaker 3: was I did his mechanics change a little bit, and
- 7:50Speaker 3: like I could go like a slow motion and look
- 7:52Speaker 3: at it, but like I'm just talking about maybe not
- 7:54Speaker 3: from an arm standpoint, but from like a body weight standpoints.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Is right hip getting through, is his right hip going
- 7:59Speaker 3: to the target. A lot of time he's throwing falling
- 8:01Speaker 3: away from the ball, falling away from his target this year,
- 8:03Speaker 3: and I got to believe a lot of that goes
- 8:06Speaker 3: back to his abs or is oblique or whatever the
- 8:10Speaker 3: injury was of trying to take pressure off of that
- 8:14Speaker 3: that situation. So from all accounts we've heard, well, when
- 8:18Speaker 3: you know, Brian Kelly was talking before he got he
- 8:20Speaker 3: got relieved that he that that's why I was back.
- 8:24Speaker 3: He's not feeling it, he's it's not it's not an
- 8:27Speaker 3: issue anymore. But now we hear that the nagging injury
- 8:30Speaker 3: has popped up, has crept back up, which is not
- 8:33Speaker 3: a great situation because, like you said, he has struggled
- 8:38Speaker 3: this season, and I think that a lot of those
- 8:40Speaker 3: physical struggles have turned into mental struggles. He is not
- 8:44Speaker 3: reading the field like he did last year. Last year
- 8:46Speaker 3: he was reading all fifty three yards. This year he's
- 8:49Speaker 3: struggled with those reads. Now, the offensive game plan. The
- 8:52Speaker 3: bones of this offense has not helped him at all
- 8:55Speaker 3: because it has been flat out bad. I think they've
- 8:58Speaker 3: tried to do some good things in all game, but
- 9:01Speaker 3: at the end of the day, there's a foundation set
- 9:03Speaker 3: with this offense that is flawed. It's flawed from the foundation,
- 9:08Speaker 3: from the bones. There's only so much lipstick you can
- 9:10Speaker 3: put on it right this moment, at this point in
- 9:12Speaker 3: the season. But to hear that, we got a little
- 9:17Speaker 3: bit of an oblique situation what we believe was kind
- 9:21Speaker 3: of the start of his the decline of his production
- 9:25Speaker 3: is not a great situation. No, it's not.
- 9:28Speaker 4: And like you've done a great job all year long
- 9:29Speaker 4: of breaking down the Joe Sloane offense. And you know
- 9:31Speaker 4: what had been the question all year? Why aren't they
- 9:34Speaker 4: throwing the ball deep? Why aren't they throwing the ball
- 9:35Speaker 4: across the middle? And I totally get that, But you
- 9:37Speaker 4: and I were talking about it about a week ago,
- 9:39Speaker 4: like we saw this offense do it a year ago,
- 9:41Speaker 4: Maybe nuts can't do it right now. And it's because
- 9:44Speaker 4: of this oblique and you mentioned like it's the mental struggles.
- 9:48Speaker 4: Now I see a quarterback just in MIFP. I mean,
- 9:50Speaker 4: you know you know a lot better than I do.
- 9:52Speaker 4: Maybe doesn't trust this offensive line and also knows that
- 9:55Speaker 4: he can't throw the ball downfield. So like, what do
- 9:57Speaker 4: you actually do if you're Garrett and Ollsemart I've seen
- 10:00Speaker 4: people today or last night say, oh, well, this is
- 10:02Speaker 4: just the secret of binging for no Smyer, this is
- 10:05Speaker 4: just you know, putting them on.
- 10:06Speaker 3: I don't think people realize a soft bench in there.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Tyler Murray, I don't think that's.
- 10:10Speaker 4: Right because people are gonna say, well, it doesn't matter
- 10:12Speaker 4: Arkansas's defense is bad. Sure, their defense might be bad,
- 10:15Speaker 4: but like, let's not forget the fact that their offense.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Puts up a ton of points.
- 10:18Speaker 4: Right that Texas A and M team you struggled with,
- 10:21Speaker 4: Arkansas put up forty two points against them. Those a
- 10:23Speaker 4: forty five forty two football game. You need all hens
- 10:25Speaker 4: on deck offensively, not because you can't move the ball
- 10:28Speaker 4: up with them against your backups, but you're gonna have
- 10:30Speaker 4: to match them score for score.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Yeah you are. And like, even if an offense is
- 10:34Speaker 3: in the SEC or a defense in the SEC is
- 10:36Speaker 3: not good, like productionized people put points on them, there's
- 10:39Speaker 3: still a defense in the SEC. They are still eleven
- 10:42Speaker 3: good athletes that are trying everything that they can. They're
- 10:45Speaker 3: coaches on the other sideline, they're doing everything it can
- 10:47Speaker 3: to stop you. So you have to execute. And what
- 10:50Speaker 3: LSU has proven that they can't do consistently on offense
- 10:53Speaker 3: is execute. And it's not about necessarily about can you
- 10:57Speaker 3: win a one on one battle? Are you getting your
- 10:59Speaker 3: your tail whip by somebody that's just physically better than you.
- 11:02Speaker 3: It's not always about that. It's about scheme. You have
- 11:05Speaker 3: to get people open you're going against like Josh Hippel.
- 11:08Speaker 3: They put points against Arkisos. They barely beat Arkansas, but
- 11:10Speaker 3: Joshipel is getting guys open everywhere. Schematically, they were winning
- 11:14Speaker 3: that battle. And when I talk about the bones of
- 11:17Speaker 3: this offense that was developed by not by the people
- 11:21Speaker 3: that are leading the offense. Now, the bones of this
- 11:24Speaker 3: offense are very flawed just from a schematic x's and
- 11:28Speaker 3: no standpoints. So but they tried last game. They did
- 11:31Speaker 3: some things that I really liked. They just so much
- 11:33Speaker 3: you can do at this point of the season, there's
- 11:35Speaker 3: so much. There's only so much that you can add in.
- 11:37Speaker 3: So I mean, we'll see you do have to execute.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Their offense is gonna score points. But luckily, they are
- 11:43Speaker 3: going to be going against our best unit on this team,
- 11:44Speaker 3: which is the defense, which played really really well I
- 11:47Speaker 3: thought against Alabama, and they played really really well in
- 11:49Speaker 3: spurts throughout this season. I expect them to play well.
- 11:52Speaker 3: I expect Blake Baker to have a great game plan.
- 11:55Speaker 3: But there's more repercussions about this Nustmyer injury that we
- 11:59Speaker 3: will get into on the other side of this break
- 12:01Speaker 3: with Michael van Buren and what they gonna do about
- 12:03Speaker 3: his red shirt. I don't know. We'll talk about it
- 12:05Speaker 3: right here when we come back on off the bench.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Off the bench, all right, Well, feel a little bit
- 12:15Speaker 3: sad or a little bit excited about the game tomorrow.
- 12:18Speaker 3: There is no better time to grab a beer. And
- 12:22Speaker 3: when you do, make sure it's a dose Sexies, an
- 12:24Speaker 3: ice cold, delicious Mexican lagger in that tall cold bottle,
- 12:29Speaker 3: maybe it's a tall cold can, whatever it is, and
- 12:32Speaker 3: you can actually get it here. You can get it
- 12:33Speaker 3: here at Else's, you can get here any of your
- 12:34Speaker 3: local beer stores, wherever you want to go. So when
- 12:36Speaker 3: you open the cooler on game day, you want one
- 12:39Speaker 3: thing that's an ice cold refreshment and nobody delivers it
- 12:42Speaker 3: like dough setis. They can get cold delicious Mexican laggers.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Make sure you get you a little lime, slice it up.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Can you feel it, Taylor? I can Yeah. After that,
- 12:54Speaker 3: I can feel it. I can say it. Look, we
- 12:55Speaker 3: live in South Louisiana. Let's not let's not try to
- 12:58Speaker 3: lie to anybody. We love a cold pop and we
- 13:01Speaker 3: love a little bit of breakfast cold pop right before
- 13:03Speaker 3: a game at eleven forty five. Whatever it is. So
- 13:05Speaker 3: if you're gonna do it, make sure you do it responsibly. Tomorrow,
- 13:08Speaker 3: and if you see us walking around campus, make sure
- 13:10Speaker 3: you lift it up and give us a little do
- 13:12Speaker 3: sekies cheer. So drink responsibly. Get yourself some dough skies tomorrow,
- 13:16Speaker 3: get yourself a little koozy, keep it cold, keep that
- 13:19Speaker 3: hand warm, go for dose. Drink responsible.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Two days gonna be the day that they're gonna throw
- 13:45Speaker 1: it back to you. And by now you should up
- 13:49Speaker 1: somehow realize what you gotta do. I don't believe that
- 13:54Speaker 1: anybody feels the way I have to about you.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Now, Tigers, turn talkers, This is off the bench, back be.
- 14:05Speaker 1: The word is on the street.
- 14:06Speaker 3: That all right, welcome back in off the bench segment
- 14:11Speaker 3: two Here an hour, one little oasis there. I think
- 14:15Speaker 3: everybody that's in college that wants to teach themselves guitars
- 14:19Speaker 3: starts with that song. I think I knew about six
- 14:22Speaker 3: people on the team that could pick up an acoustic

- 14:35Speaker 3: that guy that wanted to impress chicks by playing acoustic guitar.
- 14:39Speaker 3: What did you play? You were? You were in the
- 14:40Speaker 3: middle school band? Yeah, so I so when I was
- 14:44Speaker 3: in elementary I did I did piano, Okay, that's what
- 14:48Speaker 3: it was. And then I know, but then I played
- 14:49Speaker 3: cello in middle school. So sixth seventh, eighth grade cello player.
- 14:54Speaker 3: All of Like it was kind of crazy because like
- 14:56Speaker 3: all the the guys on the football team, we decided
- 14:58Speaker 3: to play cello. You had to do so something you
- 15:00Speaker 3: had to do, like home economics, you had to do, band,
- 15:03Speaker 3: you had to do orchestra, something else. I think it
- 15:07Speaker 3: was a shop and we're like, wait, we could do shop.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Like now we're gonna do orchestra. And so I was
- 15:12Speaker 3: a cello player, not a big deal like yo yo
- 15:17Speaker 3: ma and not a I don't want to brag, but
- 15:20Speaker 3: I was also first chair, got a big deal, not
- 15:23Speaker 3: every single year. Seventh grade that's when I was really
- 15:26Speaker 3: into it. Uh, first chair cello player cello Okay.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Better better cello player or better middle school football player.
- 15:37Speaker 3: Cello player? Really so seventh grade that was my first
- 15:41Speaker 3: year to play quarterback ever Hubbard Huskies. Shout out to
- 15:44Speaker 3: them in Tyler, Texas. Yeah, a lot of Huskies. I
- 15:48Speaker 3: got beat out seventh grade year, so I didn't even
- 15:50Speaker 3: play in seventh grade year. So I was the backup
- 15:52Speaker 3: quarterback seventh grade. And then I beat that guy on
- 15:57Speaker 3: eighth grade and so I did, but I think only
- 16:00Speaker 3: about three passes a game. So I wasn't that dynamic
- 16:04Speaker 3: in eighth grade. I wasn't like Shreeport evangel where I
- 16:08Speaker 3: was like twenty years old in eighth grade and I
- 16:10Speaker 3: was playing on the varsity. I was actually young for
- 16:14Speaker 3: my grade. I went to got to LSU, was seventeen,
- 16:16Speaker 3: So in eighth grade I was I don't even know
- 16:17Speaker 3: a guy. I'm not gonna do the math real quick,

- 16:53Speaker 3: you didn't have the Gandy. He didn't have the gandy. Look.
- 16:56Speaker 3: Did he last twenty years? And we've already laid Gundy
- 16:58Speaker 3: to rest this year. No, it didn't last. That's you
- 17:02Speaker 3: know what. The Mullet probably would have prolonged his career. Yeah,
- 17:04Speaker 3: it checks out. So, Taylor, you were at the press conference.
- 17:12Speaker 3: I'll say a lot of news coming in. But before
- 17:14Speaker 3: we get to that news, I would like to get
- 17:17Speaker 3: this show started.
- 17:19Speaker 2: It's time to get glowing. Courtesy of go Flow Ivy,
- 17:22Speaker 2: spa where hydration vitamins and a summer ready glow are
- 17:26Speaker 2: always on tap now for starters.
- 17:31Speaker 3: All right, go to go Flow IVY SPA right there,
- 17:34Speaker 3: Jefferson Highway, right nearby Caage. It is obviously the absence
- 17:38Speaker 3: of Jake means it is that time of the season
- 17:41Speaker 3: where sickness is running around. It's going around all the schools.
- 17:43Speaker 3: We've heard I fear rumors about people all over the city.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Something's happened, whether it's a stomach, whether it's a little
- 17:50Speaker 3: sniffly knows. Well, make sure you arm yourself with a
- 17:53Speaker 3: strong immune system and go to go flow. You can
- 17:55Speaker 3: get that Myers cocktail. You can get hydrator, you can
- 17:57Speaker 3: get vis vitamins. I like to call it vitamized with
- 18:01Speaker 3: the vitamin B twelve's, the D the zinc, the magnesium, everything.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Keep your immune system strong to fight off anything that's
- 18:07Speaker 3: going through the going through the house right now. And
- 18:10Speaker 3: if you're already feeling under the weather, perfect go get
- 18:12Speaker 3: those vitamins. Help you recover faster, get stronger, get hydrated,
- 18:17Speaker 3: get vitaminized. Right there, go flow IVY, Go flowiv dot com.
- 18:22Speaker 3: All right, Taylor, so you were at so there's a
- 18:24Speaker 3: lot of news coming out right now. Frank Wilson took
- 18:26Speaker 3: the podium yesterday, talked, of course we got Argus all tomorrow,
- 18:31Speaker 3: and now we're kind of hearing a little bit about
- 18:34Speaker 3: a nagging injury for our guy, Garrett Nesmier.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:37Speaker 4: So he said Garrett had a nagging injury that has reoccurred.
- 18:41Speaker 4: So it was, you know, one of the ones that
- 18:43Speaker 4: he had previously had. He said, Garrett's probable for the game,
- 18:46Speaker 4: but it is something that is concerning. I mean, he
- 18:48Speaker 4: says he's probable, but concerning. It's something we need to
- 18:51Speaker 4: watch and monitor as we head into the game. He
- 18:55Speaker 4: was later asked in the press conference, you said reoccurring injury.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Is it the knee or the pateller tendon or is
- 19:01Speaker 4: it the oblique? He confirmed it's the oblique. It's it's
- 19:04Speaker 4: in that ab area. You would talked about how hard
- 19:07Speaker 4: it is to throw the football, and like, I get it,
- 19:09Speaker 4: Garrett had did the best year, but like I thought,
- 19:11Speaker 4: he was actually even worse to start the year than
- 19:14Speaker 4: he has been. I mean, just because I mean you
- 19:17Speaker 4: mentioned the entire throwing motion is going to be off
- 19:20Speaker 4: with that oblique enginet it apparently back.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Yeah, and I don't think we know, Yeah, it's an
- 19:23Speaker 3: obleaques it's the left side is of the right side,
- 19:25Speaker 3: because to me, I think the I'm trying to figure out,
- 19:29Speaker 3: like which side would be anyway for like a guy
- 19:31Speaker 3: that turns an anybody that's a swinger, So you're a
- 19:35Speaker 3: rotational type of athlete, So you're a kicker, you're a
- 19:38Speaker 3: baseball bat, or a golf or a throw or anything
- 19:42Speaker 3: that's a rotational type of athlete. Anything in the abs
- 19:45Speaker 3: and the ribs is like really tough to deal with,
- 19:48Speaker 3: and it creates a lot of mechanical flaws and mechanical issues.
- 19:52Speaker 3: So everybody's been trying to pinpoint with Nuts, like, hey,
- 19:55Speaker 3: what's the difference this year between the nuts we've seen
- 19:59Speaker 3: and we've known and we've trusted. And he's absolutely electric
- 20:03Speaker 3: all over the field, making making every throw, making every reed.
- 20:07Speaker 3: And then the nustmyre that that we've seen this year,
- 20:10Speaker 3: who has not been as dynamic, has looked a little
- 20:13Speaker 3: bit like he's pressing a lot. His mechanics have been
- 20:16Speaker 3: the same, the throws haven't been the same. And I
- 20:19Speaker 3: think a lot of it goes back to has to
- 20:21Speaker 3: go back to this oblique injury, and because there's if
- 20:27Speaker 3: you're a golfer, you can kind of relate to this,
- 20:29Speaker 3: Like if you play in the wind A lot you
- 20:31Speaker 3: play in the wind, you have to change your swing right,
- 20:33Speaker 3: and you have to change your swing to adapt to
- 20:35Speaker 3: the wind. And then when it's not windy, there's a
- 20:39Speaker 3: period of time where you have to like unlearn what
- 20:42Speaker 3: you just did in the wind. So there could be
- 20:45Speaker 3: a situation where he had this injury and he was,
- 20:48Speaker 3: whether subconsciously or consciously, overcompensating for something, or his body
- 20:53Speaker 3: was doing something different in his thumb motion to ease
- 20:55Speaker 3: the pain so he could make a throw. Well, if
- 20:59Speaker 3: you do that enough for along in a period of time,
- 21:01Speaker 3: muscle memory starts to set in and mechanics happened. So
- 21:05Speaker 3: like I I sometimes I wondered throughout the year, was
- 21:08Speaker 3: I did his mechanics change a little bit? And like
- 21:11Speaker 3: I could go like a slow motion and look at it.
- 21:13Speaker 3: But like I'm just talking about maybe not from an
- 21:16Speaker 3: arm standpoint, but from like a body weight standpoints. His
- 21:18Speaker 3: right hip getting through is right hip going to the target.
- 21:20Speaker 3: A lot of times he's throwing falling away from the ball,
- 21:23Speaker 3: falling away from his target this year, and I gotta
- 21:25Speaker 3: believe a lot of that goes back to his abs
- 21:30Speaker 3: or his oblique or whatever the injury was, of trying
- 21:33Speaker 3: to take pressure off of that that situation. So from
- 21:37Speaker 3: all accounts we've heard, well, when you know Brian Kelly
- 21:40Speaker 3: was talking before he got he got relieved. Uh that
- 21:43Speaker 3: he that that's why I was back. He's not feeling it.
- 21:46Speaker 3: He's it's not a it's not an issue anymore. But
- 21:50Speaker 3: now we hear that the nagging injury has popped up,
- 21:53Speaker 3: has crept back up, which is not a great situation because,
- 21:57Speaker 3: like you said, he has struggled this season, and I
- 22:00Speaker 3: think that a lot of those physical struggles have turned
- 22:02Speaker 3: into mental struggles. He is not reading the field like
- 22:06Speaker 3: he did last year. Last year he was reading all
- 22:08Speaker 3: fifty three yards. This year he's struggled with those reads. Now.
- 22:11Speaker 3: The offensive game plan, the bones of this offense has
- 22:15Speaker 3: not helped him at all because it has been flat
- 22:17Speaker 3: out bad. I think they've tried to do some good
- 22:20Speaker 3: things in the last game, but at the end of
- 22:23Speaker 3: the day, there's a foundation set with this offense that
- 22:27Speaker 3: is flawed. It's flawed from the foundation, from the bones.
- 22:30Speaker 3: There's only so much lipstick you can put on it
- 22:32Speaker 3: right this moment, at this point in the season. But
- 22:35Speaker 3: to hear that we got a little bit of an
- 22:39Speaker 3: oblique situation what we believe was kind of the start
- 22:43Speaker 3: of his the decline of his production. Is not a
- 22:47Speaker 3: great situation. No it's not.
- 22:49Speaker 4: And like you've done a great job all year long
- 22:51Speaker 4: of bringing down the Joe Sloan offense. And you know
- 22:52Speaker 4: what had been the question all year? Why aren't they
- 22:55Speaker 4: throwing the ball deep? Why aren't they throwing the ball
- 22:56Speaker 4: across the middle? And I totally get that, but you
- 22:58Speaker 4: and I were talking about it about a week ago,
- 23:00Speaker 4: Like we saw this offense do what a year ago.
- 23:03Speaker 4: Maybe nuts can't do it right now, and it's because
- 23:05Speaker 4: of this oblique and you mentioned like it's it's the
- 23:08Speaker 4: mental struggles. Now I see a quarterback just in my openion.
- 23:11Speaker 4: You know, you know a lot better than I do,
- 23:13Speaker 4: that maybe doesn't trust this offensive line and also knows
- 23:16Speaker 4: that he can't throw the ball downfield.
- 23:17Speaker 3: So like, what do you actually do if you're Garrett?
- 23:20Speaker 4: And I'll smart, I've seen people today or last night say,
- 23:23Speaker 4: oh well, this is just the secret of benching for
- 23:25Speaker 4: no Smyer, this is just you know, putting them on.
- 23:27Speaker 3: I don't think people realize that the tyler.
- 23:30Speaker 4: I don't think that's right because people are gonna say, well,
- 23:33Speaker 4: it doesn't matter. Arkansas's defense is bad. Sure, their defense
- 23:36Speaker 4: might be bad, but like, let's not forget the fact
- 23:38Speaker 4: that their offense puts up a ton of points. Right
- 23:39Speaker 4: that Texas A and M team you struggled with, Arkansas
- 23:42Speaker 4: put up forty two points against them those at forty
- 23:44Speaker 4: five forty two football game. You need all hands on
- 23:47Speaker 4: deck offensively, not because you can't move the ball up
- 23:50Speaker 4: with them against your backups, but you're gonna have to
- 23:51Speaker 4: match them score for score.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Yeah you are. And like, even if an offense is
- 23:55Speaker 3: in the SEC or a defense in the SEC is
- 23:57Speaker 3: not good, like productionalized people put pinings so on, there's
- 24:00Speaker 3: still a defense in the SEC. They are still eleven
- 24:04Speaker 3: good athletes that are trying everything that they can. They're
- 24:06Speaker 3: coaches on the other sideline, they're doing everything it can
- 24:08Speaker 3: to stop you. So you have to execute. And what
- 24:11Speaker 3: LSU has proven that they can't do consistently on offense
- 24:14Speaker 3: is execute. And it's not about necessarily about can you
- 24:18Speaker 3: win a one on one battle? Are you getting your
- 24:20Speaker 3: tail whipped by somebody that's just physically better than you.
- 24:23Speaker 3: It's not always about that. It's about scheme. You have
- 24:26Speaker 3: to get people open you're going against like Joshibel. They
- 24:29Speaker 3: put points against Arkansas. They barely beat Arkansas, but Josh
- 24:32Speaker 3: Hipel is getting guys open everywhere. Schematically, they were winning
- 24:35Speaker 3: that battle. And when I talk about the bones of
- 24:38Speaker 3: this offense, that was developed by not by the people
- 24:43Speaker 3: that are leading the offense. Now, the bones of this
- 24:45Speaker 3: offense are very flawed just from a schematic x's and
- 24:49Speaker 3: no standpoints. So but they tried last game. They did
- 24:52Speaker 3: some things that I really liked. They just so much
- 24:55Speaker 3: you can do at this point of the season, there's
- 24:56Speaker 3: so much. There's only so much that you can add in.
- 24:58Speaker 3: So I mean, we'll see you do have to execute.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Their offense is gonna score points. But luckily they are
- 25:04Speaker 3: going to be going against our best unit on this team,
- 25:05Speaker 3: which is the defense, which played really really well I
- 25:08Speaker 3: thought against Alabama and that played really really well in
- 25:10Speaker 3: spurts throughout this season. I expect them to play well.
- 25:13Speaker 3: I expect Blake Baker to have a great game plan.
- 25:16Speaker 3: But there's more repercussions about this. Nustmyer injury that we
- 25:20Speaker 3: will get into on the other side of this break
- 25:22Speaker 3: with Michael van Buren and what they're going to do
- 25:24Speaker 3: about his red shirt. I don't know. We'll talk about
- 25:26Speaker 3: it right here when we come back on off the bench.
- 25:29Speaker 3: Off the bench, all right, Well, feel a little bit
- 25:36Speaker 3: sad or a little bit excited about the game tomorrow.
- 25:39Speaker 3: There is no better time to grab a beer. And
- 25:43Speaker 3: when you do, make sure it's a dose SECI's an
- 25:46Speaker 3: ice cold delicious Mexican lagger in that tall cold bottle.
- 25:50Speaker 3: Maybe it's a tall cold can, whatever it is, and
- 25:53Speaker 3: you can actually get it here. You can get it
- 25:54Speaker 3: here at else as you can get here any of
- 25:55Speaker 3: your local beer stares wherever you want to go. So
- 25:57Speaker 3: when you open the cooler on game day, you want
- 26:00Speaker 3: one thing that's an ic cold refreshment, and nobody delivers
- 26:03Speaker 3: it like do Skis, the king of cold delicious Mexican loggers.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Make sure you get you a little lime. Slice it up.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Can you feel it, Taylor? I can, yeah, after that,
- 26:15Speaker 3: I can feel it. I can taste it. Look, we
- 26:17Speaker 3: live in South Louisiana. Let let's not try to lie
- 26:19Speaker 3: to anybody. We love a cold pop and we love
- 26:22Speaker 3: a little bit of breakfast cold pop right before a
- 26:24Speaker 3: game at eleven forty five. Whatever it is. So if
- 26:27Speaker 3: you're gonna do it, make sure you do it responsibly.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Tomorrow and if you see us walking around campus, make
- 26:31Speaker 3: sure you lift it up and give us a little
- 26:33Speaker 3: dough Sekies cheer. So drink responsibly. Get yourself some dough
- 26:37Speaker 3: schies tomorrow. Get yourself a little cooozy, keep it cold,
- 26:39Speaker 3: keep that hand warm, go for dose. Drink responsibly.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Shut down ninety seven from the locker room to the airwaves,
- 27:02Speaker 2: gets off the bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 27:08Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in off the bench here our
- 27:11Speaker 3: number one. We are here live from Rouses on Bourbank,
- 27:16Speaker 3: and I want to tell you a little bit about Ralses. Hey.
- 27:20Speaker 3: I know it might sound a little strange, but go
- 27:22Speaker 3: to Rouses dot com. I know it's a website for
- 27:24Speaker 3: a grocery store. That's all right, because you're gonna go there.
- 27:26Speaker 3: You're gonna see different deals that they're gonna have at
- 27:29Speaker 3: local Rouses near You can type in a little zip code.
- 27:32Speaker 3: Right there, I'm gonna tell you what's happening, what the
- 27:34Speaker 3: deals are. You can find some coupon's right there. But hey,
- 27:36Speaker 3: if you're gonna shop, if you're gonna get ready for
- 27:38Speaker 3: the weekend, you're gonna get ready for Tailgaden. It's also
- 27:40Speaker 3: gumbo season. Stumble last season, like the fall, is the
- 27:44Speaker 3: best season for food, get ready for Thanksgiving, whatever it is.
- 27:47Speaker 3: Make sure you're shopping at a local grocery store, local
- 27:50Speaker 3: grocery store that gives back to our community from right
- 27:52Speaker 3: here in Louisiana. So go find your local Rouses. Shop
- 27:55Speaker 3: at Rouses Mario good Roouses dot com to check out
- 27:57Speaker 3: their deals. But make sure when you're doing it, when
- 27:59Speaker 3: you get those groceries next ye you're coming to Rouses
- 28:02Speaker 3: and actually come see us today. Come see us this morning.
- 28:05Speaker 3: I got the steam popping off the breakfast bar. My
- 28:08Speaker 3: guy that's here every single week making about a billion
- 28:11Speaker 3: sushi rolls, the killing it over here. Get your my
- 28:15Speaker 3: eye eye too. A lot of people in the chat
- 28:17Speaker 3: right now trying to tell Taylor to assert his dominance
- 28:21Speaker 3: at the table by getting other hydration products put on
- 28:23Speaker 3: the table. I don't know. I would. I wouldn't do it.
- 28:26Speaker 3: That's the way to get front kicked right there, your
- 28:31Speaker 3: roundhouse kicked to the face. While I'm wearing these pants.
- 28:35Speaker 3: You know what movie that's from? You know, as many
- 28:39Speaker 3: movies as I've seen. I don't go, are you serious?
- 28:42Speaker 3: The laundri you know what that's from?
- 28:44Speaker 2: What did you say?
- 28:45Speaker 3: What did you say? Do you want to get roundhouse
- 28:47Speaker 3: kicked to the face while I'm wearing these pants?
- 28:49Speaker 5: Oh that's Napoleon dynamite.
- 28:50Speaker 3: That's a Napoleon dynamite.
- 28:51Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, So there was this whole thing. It's it's
- 28:55Speaker 4: an unpopular take on on my part. I don't like
- 28:58Speaker 4: Napoleon Dynamite at all. And actually you'll love this because
- 29:03Speaker 4: it involves the Green Bay Packers back when T Bob
- 29:05Speaker 4: was still on the show, uh two years ago. Remember
- 29:08Speaker 4: the Cowboys were like the number one or two seed
- 29:10Speaker 4: whatever it was, and I believe it or not, I'm
- 29:12Speaker 4: at they sucked in the playoff shocker okay, and they
- 29:14Speaker 4: were playing the upstar Green Bay Packers with Jordan Love
- 29:17Speaker 4: going on a tear and T Bob said, okay, well,
- 29:19Speaker 4: since you don't like Napoleon Dynamite, if the Cowboys lose
- 29:23Speaker 4: to the Packers, you have to dress like Napoleon Dynamite.
- 29:26Speaker 4: And I'll be damned. I showed up the word dressed
- 29:28Speaker 4: like Napoleon Dodnamite because the packers put a whooping.
- 29:30Speaker 3: All right on the Dallas Cowboys. So was it like
- 29:33Speaker 3: Napoleon from like the dance scene.
- 29:35Speaker 4: So I ordered the white vote for Pedro shirt, the
- 29:38Speaker 4: curly wig, and it came with like a cheap pair
- 29:39Speaker 4: of like glasses.
- 29:40Speaker 3: All right, So you don't think that's Napoleon Dynamite's funny,
- 29:44Speaker 3: So you're more of like a fart joke, kind of
- 29:46Speaker 3: like far joke, only that situation on the far jo.
- 29:49Speaker 3: I don't know. It's just it's just not my vibe.
- 29:51Speaker 3: It's just one of those things that dry here and
- 29:53Speaker 3: explain it. It's just not my vibe. So you don't
- 29:55Speaker 3: like like the office, probably No, Victoria loves the office.
- 30:01Speaker 3: Lundra didn't like the office either. I don't think Jake does.
- 30:03Speaker 3: I think you're alone on the office.
- 30:05Speaker 5: I don't dislike the office.
- 30:08Speaker 3: You don't. It's not my favorite. It's not my favorite. Okay,
- 30:11Speaker 3: all right, Yeah, I didn't mean to put that evil
- 30:12Speaker 3: on you. I thought i'd heard you say that. That's
- 30:14Speaker 3: on me. Ribs says she likes the office. I get it,
- 30:17Speaker 3: though it's a little slower, it's a little dryer. You gotta,
- 30:19Speaker 3: you know, gotta have some wit. Taylor gotta have a
- 30:22Speaker 3: little whip. No fart jokes there, Okay, all right, So
- 30:25Speaker 3: we just got talking about you know, Taylor was at
- 30:28Speaker 3: there live at Frank Wilson's presser yesterday. We got the
- 30:32Speaker 3: news about Garrettnusmeyer with the nagging injury on the on
- 30:36Speaker 3: the oblique. But look, there's been a lot of talk.
- 30:39Speaker 3: We the plan was per Frank earlier in the week
- 30:42Speaker 3: that both quarterbacks gonna be planning for both quarterbacks to play. Now,
- 30:45Speaker 3: he didn't necessarily say, you know, dual quarterback system, but
- 30:50Speaker 3: he said there's going to be a planning place for
- 30:52Speaker 3: both quarterbacks to play. Now, does that speed that timeline up?
- 30:56Speaker 3: There's some repercussions though with Van Buren. If Van Buren
- 30:59Speaker 3: decided it's like if they're like, all right, nuts, you
- 31:01Speaker 3: know what, offense hadn't been great, you're hurting a little bit,
- 31:05Speaker 3: let's just give the keys over to Van Buren. But
- 31:08Speaker 3: there are some repercussions that aren't just gonna be up
- 31:11Speaker 3: to Frank. I gotta feel like it's going to be
- 31:13Speaker 3: up to Van and that's of course the red shirt. Yeah,
- 31:15Speaker 3: so take the Bowl game out of it. The Bowl
- 31:17Speaker 3: game does not count towards eligibility. He can play in
- 31:20Speaker 3: one more regular season game with three remainers, like one play, yeah,
- 31:24Speaker 3: so I mean one one regular season game that would
- 31:27Speaker 3: be his four games.
- 31:28Speaker 4: That would burn his red shirt. So the question you
- 31:30Speaker 4: have to ask yourself is do you want Michael van
- 31:32Speaker 4: Buren to burn your red shirt?
- 31:33Speaker 3: Like obviously you want LSU.
- 31:35Speaker 4: To win every game, you want them to have the
- 31:36Speaker 4: best opportunity.
- 31:37Speaker 3: But I mean, let's call it like it is. This
- 31:38Speaker 3: is a lost season.
- 31:39Speaker 4: It is you don't have a quarterback currently in the
- 31:43Speaker 4: twenty twenty six recruiting class because you were all in
- 31:45Speaker 4: on Bryce Underwood last year. Remember you missed on him.
- 31:48Speaker 4: You actually had to scramble to go get a Michael
- 31:49Speaker 4: van Buren. I mean, you kind of paid a premium
- 31:52Speaker 4: price for Michael Van Buren to be your backup quarterback
- 31:54Speaker 4: in the transfer portal, but because you needed somebody, I mean,
- 31:57Speaker 4: you had a seventeen year old Colin Hurley and Garrett Nosmyer.
- 32:00Speaker 4: That's all you had, right and then you don't have
- 32:02Speaker 4: anybody committed in the upcoming classes of right now. So
- 32:05Speaker 4: I mean, do you want to preserve that red shirt
- 32:07Speaker 4: if you possibly could, I would think yes. However, this
- 32:11Speaker 4: throws a wrench in things.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Yeah, so when you bring a guy like Michael van
- 32:17Speaker 3: Buren in from another you bring him in in the
- 32:20Speaker 3: office and bring him through the portal, like, the conversation
- 32:23Speaker 3: has to be had at that point about the red shirt,
- 32:26Speaker 3: like and what like here is what's gonna happen. If
- 32:29Speaker 3: these things happen, We're going to burn your red shirt
- 32:32Speaker 3: and are you okay with that? And I'm assuming the
- 32:34Speaker 3: answer was probably yes, okay if but it was probably
- 32:37Speaker 3: yes with some conditions. Yeah, as long as it's not
- 32:40Speaker 3: for like a play, as long as it's not a
- 32:42Speaker 3: waste or like a you know, phone in and crap
- 32:46Speaker 3: time or whatever it is. I guarantee you that there
- 32:49Speaker 3: was never a conversation with him, is are you okay
- 32:53Speaker 3: burning it because our heisman hopeful quarterback isn't playing well
- 32:58Speaker 3: enough and at the end of the year we're gonna
- 32:59Speaker 3: have four and we're gonna see what you got. Yeah.
- 33:02Speaker 3: I don't think that was ever the situation.
- 33:05Speaker 2: So the.
- 33:07Speaker 3: Especially with the interim tag that Frank has, I don't
- 33:11Speaker 3: think it can be up to him. No, it has
- 33:14Speaker 3: to be up to van Berry. It has to be
- 33:15Speaker 3: up to Van Buren. And now, at the end of
- 33:17Speaker 3: the day, they can make him play, I would assume,
- 33:20Speaker 3: but I just don't see that happening. But it has
- 33:23Speaker 3: to be up to Michael van Buren and his family
- 33:25Speaker 3: deciding what the best course of action for his career is.
- 33:28Speaker 3: I mean because at some point, like these kids do,
- 33:30Speaker 3: at some point have to be selfish, a little bit
- 33:33Speaker 3: like team first, team first, team first, then team first,
- 33:36Speaker 3: but then a little bit of selfish on knowing what
- 33:38Speaker 3: your career is. And yes, it is a great opportunity.
- 33:42Speaker 3: If they just said Van Buren, you're gonna be the
- 33:44Speaker 3: start of the rest of the season, I think that's
- 33:46Speaker 3: absolutely yeah, let's burn that thing. Let's go yeah for sure.
- 33:49Speaker 4: Or hey, we're gonna play you in one more game,
- 33:51Speaker 4: but you're gonna start the entire Western Kentucky game.
- 33:54Speaker 3: We want to see what we have in you. We
- 33:55Speaker 3: hear that all the time with Tyler Shock.
- 33:56Speaker 4: You gotta see what you got, But like with Van Buren, yeah,
- 33:58Speaker 4: it's actually a little bit more true because you need
- 34:00Speaker 4: to know is your starring quarterback in twenty twenty six
- 34:03Speaker 4: currently on the roster. Some people will say Yeah, a
- 34:05Speaker 4: lot of people will say no, but like you mentioned,
- 34:09Speaker 4: sometimes you do have to be selfish. People forget about this.
- 34:11Speaker 4: Garrett Nosmar was when his first year here, Brian Kelly
- 34:15Speaker 4: got the job. In that Texas Bowl, John Trey Kirkland
- 34:17Speaker 4: started a quarterback. It was because at that time he
- 34:21Speaker 4: doesn't anymore. But at that time that would have burned
- 34:23Speaker 4: dereckt Osmar's red shirt and he did not want to
- 34:26Speaker 4: do that. Now, you know, there was a little bit
- 34:27Speaker 4: of pushback on it, but I mean, now, Matt, at
- 34:30Speaker 4: the beginning of the season, everybody was really really happy
- 34:32Speaker 4: that Garrett Olsmar didn't burn that red shirt. And he
- 34:34Speaker 4: was out of eligibility a year ago. So like we've
- 34:36Speaker 4: we've seen that happen right here before.
- 34:39Speaker 3: Right.
- 34:39Speaker 4: I don't think Van Buren does that because you do
- 34:42Speaker 4: have Yeah, but.
- 34:42Speaker 3: It was also a de social left. Yeah, that was
- 34:44Speaker 3: also a decision that was based on the future bat
- 34:47Speaker 3: head coach and what they were doing. Like Frank Stong
- 34:50Speaker 3: could be that full time. I mean, let's not say never, never, whatever,
- 34:54Speaker 3: but we don't believe. We don't believe that Frank's so
- 34:57Speaker 3: he's not making a decision based on his future success
- 35:01Speaker 3: as the head coach. Right, So anyway, there's there's just
- 35:05Speaker 3: a lot going on with this decision. And I don't
- 35:08Speaker 3: dye anybody having to make this decision. I don't envy
- 35:11Speaker 3: Frank Kevin, do you know, try to make the decision
- 35:14Speaker 3: about Garrett Nesmeyer and about you know, the offense does
- 35:17Speaker 3: like you made a decision last game to pull him,
- 35:19Speaker 3: and it was the right decision at that time. Now
- 35:23Speaker 3: now you got to decide what's what's going to happen next.
- 35:26Speaker 3: And we've already heard and I think I think a
- 35:28Speaker 3: one hundred actually just texted us. He said on the
- 35:32Speaker 3: show last night. Frank said on the show, I said
- 35:34Speaker 3: that the decision of who is going to start will
- 35:36Speaker 3: be made in warm ups. Launder, can you jump on
- 35:38Speaker 3: here and kind of give us a little clarity on that.
- 35:41Speaker 5: Yeah, So they asked Frank during the show last night,
- 35:44Speaker 5: Well Chris did, and he said basically the same thing.
- 35:47Speaker 5: It's a nagging injury. They gave him a pitch count
- 35:50Speaker 5: during practice yesterday and I don't think they practiced today,
- 35:54Speaker 5: but they gave They've been giving him a pitch count
- 35:56Speaker 5: at practice and they're just going to see how he
- 35:59Speaker 5: feels during warm ups, and he didn't have like a
- 36:02Speaker 5: definitive answer over who was going to start, but they
- 36:06Speaker 5: did ask him about like a dual quarterback system, and
- 36:10Speaker 5: he says that that's not really what they're trying to
- 36:13Speaker 5: do because of what you said, because it's hard to
- 36:15Speaker 5: get a quarterback like into rhythm, especially if you're switching
- 36:18Speaker 5: them in and out and stuff like that.
- 36:19Speaker 3: So it was basically that, yeah, that's interesting. It's a
- 36:27Speaker 3: I guess you're saying. That kind of tells me, just
- 36:30Speaker 3: like hearing this for the first time, really this kind
- 36:32Speaker 3: of tells me that the plan is to play Garrett
- 36:36Speaker 3: unless he can't unless he can and then at that point, that's.
- 36:39Speaker 4: A drastic change from what he said on Monday. Now
- 36:41Speaker 4: I get this injury. I mean in the press coverage
- 36:43Speaker 4: yesterday he said this popped up two day so this
- 36:46Speaker 4: was a Thursday injury. On Monday, I mean a lot
- 36:49Speaker 4: of people were criticizing them, and he came out and said, yeah,
- 36:51Speaker 4: we're really not going to change anything. I mean, we
- 36:52Speaker 4: might play two quarterbacks, but Garrett's the starter. He's gonna
- 36:54Speaker 4: get all the first team reps in practice.
- 36:56Speaker 3: I mean, that is a drastic change.
- 36:58Speaker 4: Like last night, he was saying at the press conference
- 37:01Speaker 4: with saying, you know, he's probable, but it's concerning, I
- 37:03Speaker 4: mean not right there. What he said at the coaches
- 37:04Speaker 4: show sounds like this is questionable for the game time decision.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Right, And it might be one of those situations where, hey,
- 37:10Speaker 3: there's a plan to play both these guys. We're assuming
- 37:13Speaker 3: Garrett's Garrett's healthy, right, this is probably the beginning of
- 37:17Speaker 3: the week, So plan to play Garrett and both guys.
- 37:19Speaker 3: But we're not playing the best defense in the SEC.
- 37:23Speaker 3: So Garrett's coming out and we're moving the ball. Let's
- 37:25Speaker 3: keep Michael Van Buren's sideline. Maybe play in the Western Kentucky.
- 37:28Speaker 3: There's so many scenarios that we could play out. In
- 37:31Speaker 3: all honesty, we don't know what's happened. All we can
- 37:32Speaker 3: try is read the tea leaves here, but we do
- 37:35Speaker 3: know there are big repercussions. There are big decisions to
- 37:37Speaker 3: be made because of this red shirt hanging over everybody's head,
- 37:41Speaker 3: and of course this nagging oblique injury and the poor
- 37:46Speaker 3: play of the LSU offense to this point with Garrett
- 37:49Speaker 3: and Mesmer, you know, taking the helm and leading. So
- 37:53Speaker 3: we'll see it'll be so fascinating to watch. We'll see,
- 37:56Speaker 3: I guess we'll all the way up to warm up tomorrow.
- 37:59Speaker 3: We'll see what's going to be, what's going on. So anyway,
- 38:02Speaker 3: I hope that I hope that Nuss is fine. I
- 38:04Speaker 3: hope that he goes out and plays great. But if not,
- 38:06Speaker 3: I hope that Van Buren steps in there and shows
- 38:08Speaker 3: that he was that that guy that we hope that
- 38:10Speaker 3: he is. A backup quarterback is always the most popular
- 38:12Speaker 3: guy in town. And it's never been more true than
- 38:15Speaker 3: it is right now. So we'll see. It'll be be
- 38:18Speaker 3: crazy to watch, it'll be fun to watch, and hopefully,
- 38:20Speaker 3: I don't care what happens. I hope we beat the
- 38:22Speaker 3: Brakes off Arkansas tomorrow. We beat him byt fifty. Yet
- 38:26Speaker 3: to meet him by fifty, we got to score more
- 38:27Speaker 3: than twenty five.
- 38:28Speaker 4: Well, I mean, ja, I think Jake said this yesterday,
- 38:30Speaker 4: it'll beat him up fifty up to score fifty.
- 38:31Speaker 3: I don't see that happening.
- 38:33Speaker 4: I think it would take you what y'all, y'all mapped
- 38:35Speaker 4: it out yesterday June a half games to get to fifties.
- 38:37Speaker 4: I don't think that's going to happen. But look, remember
- 38:40Speaker 4: the big kind of knock on Blake Baker. So far
- 38:43Speaker 4: since he's been here at LSU, people will say, okay, well,
- 38:45Speaker 4: he has troubles stopping dual threat quarterbacks. Tayling Green was
- 38:48Speaker 4: a little bit banged up coming into the game last year,
- 38:50Speaker 4: but they shut down Taylor Green in Fayetteville last year. So,
- 38:54Speaker 4: like I understand that he's kind of struggled with that
- 38:57Speaker 4: mobile quarterback. He figured out Taylor Green a year ago.
- 38:59Speaker 4: So this is another one of those games of your defense.
- 39:01Speaker 3: Keep you in it. Yep, we'll see well, and Blake Baker,
- 39:05Speaker 3: we trust. All right, we're gonna go to break. We
- 39:07Speaker 3: will come back and wrap up our number one right
- 39:09Speaker 3: here on off the bench, off the bench, all right, Well,
- 39:16Speaker 3: get Gordon. It is that time of the year we
- 39:19Speaker 3: start seeing a lot of the all the charity work
- 39:22Speaker 3: that Gordon mccurney likes to do, all the bike giveaways,
- 39:24Speaker 3: everything that he does in the community from all over
- 39:27Speaker 3: the state of Louisiana. We've seen it. We've seen the billboards.
- 39:30Speaker 3: We've seen what he does with the g team here
- 39:32Speaker 3: at LSU, all the great work he does with the athletes. Hey,
- 39:34Speaker 3: you know you see the billboards too, and it's a
- 39:36Speaker 3: lot of its humor, a lot of it's funny, just
- 39:38Speaker 3: to kind of drive awareness of what they do. But
- 39:40Speaker 3: at the heart of everything, Gordon mccurne injury attorneys. They
- 39:43Speaker 3: are here to fight for Louisiana's all over the state.
- 39:47Speaker 3: It doesn't matter where you are. So wherever you are
- 39:49Speaker 3: in the state, northwest, southeast, southwest, middle of the state,
- 39:53Speaker 3: it doesn't matter. It's gonna be your area code followed
- 39:56Speaker 3: about eight eight eight eight eight eight eight to get Gordon.
- 39:59Speaker 3: So if you want to get it done, if you
- 40:01Speaker 3: want them to fight for you. If you've been injured,
- 40:02Speaker 3: it is not your fault, whether it's been in a
- 40:04Speaker 3: car accident, whether you've been injured on a job, workers
- 40:07Speaker 3: comp claim, whatever it is. Let the experts that fight
- 40:10Speaker 3: every single day for every single person in Louisiana. Let
- 40:13Speaker 3: them fight for you and get exactly what you deserve.
- 40:16Speaker 3: Go call them eight eight eight eight eight eight, or
- 40:17Speaker 3: go visit them at get Gordon dot com.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Get around the house, head behind the window, the door.
- 40:46Speaker 2: From the locker room to the airwaves. Gets off the
- 40:49Speaker 2: bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 40:55Speaker 3: HII, welcome back in off the bench. We're going to
- 40:57Speaker 3: close out our number one right here live from Ralse's.
- 41:01Speaker 3: I first want to tell you about Gulf Coast Office Products.
- 41:04Speaker 3: Louisiana is leading copier and printer source right here in Louisiana. Yeah,
- 41:09Speaker 3: they ship copiers, they share, they shift printers all over
- 41:11Speaker 3: the country. But at the heart of it, they are
- 41:13Speaker 3: right here four offices in Louisiana. The best customer service around.
- 41:17Speaker 3: So if you work in an office, if you have
- 41:19Speaker 3: an office, whether it's a hospital, whether it's a one
- 41:22Speaker 3: hundred person office, or whether it's just a one person
- 41:24Speaker 3: office right above your garage, make sure you call Golf
- 41:26Speaker 3: Coast Office Products or go see them at gcop net
- 41:30Speaker 3: dot com so they can make your office work more efficiently.
- 41:34Speaker 3: Gulf Coast Office Products. All right, Taylor, So how's you basketball?
- 41:40Speaker 3: We basketball school. We're three and o Matt, not, no
- 41:44Speaker 3: big deal. Can't be any better than that. That must
- 41:46Speaker 3: be against pretty good teams too, not the cream of
- 41:49Speaker 3: the crowd. But I mean, look, they played Florida International
- 41:51Speaker 3: last night. You nobody's gonna say, Okay, yeah, it's Florida International.
- 41:54Speaker 3: You've played you at No you're hydrated team though, Okay,
- 41:56Speaker 3: Well there you go. You played Tarleton State.
- 42:00Speaker 4: I always look at it though, when you're not at
- 42:03Speaker 4: your best, can you still find a way to pull
- 42:05Speaker 4: out a win. I think games like that make you
- 42:06Speaker 4: a better team. And that's what they did last night
- 42:08Speaker 4: because you know, they only gave up fifty five fifty
- 42:11Speaker 4: six points to uin O. They held Tarlton State to
- 42:13Speaker 4: sixty points, so their defense has been really good. Florida
- 42:16Speaker 4: International scored eighty one points against this team last night
- 42:19Speaker 4: and LSU really kind of had to pull away at
- 42:21Speaker 4: the end. It was kind of a kind of in
- 42:23Speaker 4: a dog fight with about you know, eight minutes seven
- 42:25Speaker 4: minutes to go in.
- 42:26Speaker 3: That ball game, and they did just that.
- 42:28Speaker 4: I think that makes you a better team because when
- 42:30Speaker 4: you get an SEC play, these are the type of
- 42:32Speaker 4: games you're gonna play. It's going to be tight down
- 42:33Speaker 4: the stretch. How can you respond? I mean, I think
- 42:36Speaker 4: Markel Sutton and Mike Nawoko, they're probably the two best
- 42:39Speaker 4: players on your team. You got a big in the middle,
- 42:41Speaker 4: you got a wing. But you know you'll learn this
- 42:43Speaker 4: name as the season goes along. DJ Thomas. Keep an
- 42:46Speaker 4: eye on that guy because he's gonna be your point
- 42:48Speaker 4: guard and he's a true point guard. Matt McMahon teams
- 42:51Speaker 4: at Murray State when they were the best, he had
- 42:53Speaker 4: a true dominant point guard. Now, last year Cam Carter
- 42:56Speaker 4: was great, but he was more of a two guard
- 42:58Speaker 4: than that pure one. I mean sold the Sweet sixteen
- 43:00Speaker 4: run with John Morant.
- 43:01Speaker 3: I get it.
- 43:02Speaker 4: John Morants don't grow on trees. But there were multiple
- 43:04Speaker 4: years when you know he had that dominant point guard
- 43:08Speaker 4: that conditioned out to the shooters and unless you ha
- 43:10Speaker 4: shooters and DJ Thomas is finding him right now, So
- 43:12Speaker 4: like there's there's a lot to like with this team
- 43:14Speaker 4: early on. Now we'll see how they do an sec play,
- 43:17Speaker 4: but the early returns looked pretty good.
- 43:19Speaker 3: DJ Thomas, DJ Tom White Guard, d Don Thomas. Did
- 43:22Speaker 3: you remember that name? So? Were you in the house.
- 43:26Speaker 3: I was not in the house. I was in my house.
- 43:28Speaker 3: You're in your house. That is a type of house.
- 43:30Speaker 3: But was Pete Macrocken I would I would say no,
- 43:35Speaker 3: strong to quite strong week to quite week. We're talking
- 43:38Speaker 3: about attendance with a comma in it, or attendants not
- 43:41Speaker 3: with the comm There might be a comma. I can't
- 43:44Speaker 3: tell you how many numbers are behind that comma. Yeah,
- 43:47Speaker 3: but look, it's still wild to me. That basketball is
- 43:49Speaker 3: being played right now, Like I know, okay, basketball comes
- 43:53Speaker 3: third down here. People need to realize and you can
- 43:55Speaker 3: play yeah, basketball while football is being played. I still
- 43:59Speaker 3: feeling think it should be a December start time. It's
- 44:01Speaker 3: still wild to me. You know, I have not follow
- 44:03Speaker 3: I don't follow basketball. I don't know if I watched
- 44:04Speaker 3: you dribble last year until the tournament. And I hate
- 44:08Speaker 3: to say that because now I you know, co hosts
- 44:11Speaker 3: a sports radio got to kind of get into it.
- 44:13Speaker 3: You probably got to watch a few dribbles some more.
- 44:15Speaker 3: Maybe I'll be in the house and the PMAC a
- 44:17Speaker 3: few times this year. We'll see, but we'll be right back.
- 44:20Speaker 3: We're gonna finish up Hour one right here, Hour number
- 44:23Speaker 3: two coming up here and off the bench, off the bench, Hey,
